प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुदाय को विश्वास दिलाया है कि विदेशी निवेशकों के लिए भारत में कोई समस्या नहीं है और कर संबधी मामलों में अनिश्चय की कोई स्थिति नहीं है। एक प्रमुख दैनिक के साथ भेंटवार्ता में प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि थोड़े समय के अंदर ही वित्तीय घाटे पर नियंत्रण, कर मामलों में स्पष्टता, म्युचुअल फंडो और बीमा उद्योग में सक्रियता, बकाया विदेशी निवेश प्रस्तावों का निपटान और बुनियादी ढांचे का विकास प्राथमिकता के मुख्य क्षेत्र होंगे, जिन पर पूरा ध्यान दिया जाएगा। डॉक्टर सिंह ने कहा कि हमारा उद्देश्य समग्र विकास पर जोर देना है और पिछले आठ वर्षों की तरह देश को उच्च आर्थिक विकास की ओर ले जाने के प्रयास जारी रहेंगे।प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि सरकार भारत को कारोबारियों के लिए लाभकारी देश बनाने के लिए कारोबारी प्रस्तावों पर जल्दी फैसले लेगी और गैर जरूरी प्रक्रियाओं को हटायेगी ।
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि रेलवे, सड़क, बंदरगाह, नागरिक उड्डयन निवेश के कई अवसर खुल रहे हैं। विश्व के देश इन महत्वपूर्ण क्षेत्रों में योगदान करके भारत की अर्थ व्यवस्था को मजबूत बनाने में मदद कर सकते हैं। डाक्टर सिंह ने कहा कि अब सार्वजनिक बहस का मुद्दा यह होना चाहिए कि खुली अर्थव्यवस्था किस तरह से काम करे और सबके लिये काम करे।

दिल्ली की एक अदालत ने मुंबई आतंकी हमलों की साजिश मे शामिल लश्कर-ए-तैयबा के आतंकवादी सईद जबीउद्दीन अंसारी उर्फ अबू जुंदाल को और १५ दिन के लिए दिल्ली पुलिस की हिरासत में भेज दिया है। मुख्य मेट्रोपोलिटन मजिस्ट्रेट विनोद यादव ने कहा कि जुंदाल से पूछताछ के आधार पर अन्य एजेंसियों को भी विभिन्न आतंकी मामलों की जांच में मदद मिलेगी। अदालत ने कहा कि राष्ट्रीय जांच एजेंसंी-एनआईए और मुंबई पुलिस के एटीएस और सीआईडी को जुंदाल की हिरासत के लिए २० जुलाई तक इंतजार करना होगा, क्योंकि तब तक वह दिल्ली पुलिस की हिरासत में रहेगा।अदालत में दिल्ली पुलिस ने बताया कि सिम कार्डों की कॉलों का रिकॉर्ड राजनयिक सूत्रों के जरिए हासिल किया गया और उनका विश्लेषण किया जा रहा है।
दिल्ली पुलिस ने अदालत को यह भी बताया कि मुंबई आतंकी हमलों की साजिश में शामिल लश्कर-ए-तैयबा तथा इंडियन मुजाहिद्दीन के आतंकवादियों और अन्य अभियुक्तों के साथ जुंदाल के संपर्कों की जांच की जा रही है।

भारत ने पाकिस्तान को बताया है कि लश्करे-तैयबा के आतंकवादी अबु जुंदाल से पूछताछ में मिली जानकारी से स्पष्ट होता है कि २००८ के मुंबई आतंकवादी हमलों में पाकिस्तान का हाथ था। केन्द्रीय गृह मंत्री मीडिया से संबंधित मंत्री समूह के अध्यक्ष पी चिदम्बरम ने कोलकाता में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में यह बात कही। गृह मंत्री ने दंतेवाड़ा घटना का जिक्र करते हुए कहा कि छत्तीसगढ़ के मुख्यमंत्री इसकी जांच कराना चाहते हैं और वे ऐसा करने के लिए स्वतंत्र हैं।-
श्री पी चिदम्बरम ने कहा कि इस बार देश में धान और गेहूं का रिकार्ड उत्पादन हुआ है इसलिए सरकार ने २० लाख टन गेहूं निर्यात करने का फैसला किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि घरेलू आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने के बाद कुछ गेहूं निर्यात किया जाएगा। करीब ५० लाख टन गेहूं जल्दी ही गरीबी रेखा से नीचे के परिवारों में बांटा जाएगा।श्री चिदम्बरम ने कहा कि आर्थिक स्थिति को पटरी पर लाने के प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं।
वर्ष २०११-१२ काफी मुश्किल का वर्ष रहा और इस वर्ष हमारी वृद्धि दर गिरकर ६. ७ प्रतिशत हो गई थी। हमारा मानना है कि इस गिरावट के कारणों की हमने पहचान कर ली है। प्रधानमंत्री जो अब वित्त मंत्रालय को देख रहे हैं इस समस्या के समाधान के लिए अनेक कदम उठा रहे हैं और उठाएंगे। उम्मीद है कि २०१२-१३ में हम ८ प्रतिशत की वृद्धि दर फिर से हासिल कर लेंगे।
गृहमंत्री ने कहा कि केंद्र हर तरह से पश्चिम बंगाल की सहायता करता रहेगा और राज्य के वित्तीय संकट का हल ढूंढ लिया जायेगा ।
संवाददाता सम्मेलन में मीडिया से संबद्ध मंत्रिसमूह के एक और सदस्य मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल ने बताया कि केंद्र सरकार शिक्षा संस्थानों में भ्रष्टाचार पर अंकुश लगाने के लिये कानून बना रही है।

झारखंड में कल रात बोकारो जिले में एक बस दुर्घटना में नौ लोग मारे गए और ३० घायल हो गए। पुलिस के अनुसार यह बस वर्षा के दौरान जोधाडीह मोड़ पर पलट गई। दुर्घटनाग्रस्त बस एक बारात को लेकर लिलोरी से चंदनक्यारी जा रही थी। घायलों को पास के अस्पताल में भर्ती करा दिया गया है। पांच घायलों की हालत गंभीर बताई गई है।-
अफगानिस्तान में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सेना के लिए पाकिस्तान के रास्ते सामान की आवाजाही फिर शुरू हो गई है। खबरों में बताया गया है कि कराची बंदरगाह से सामान लेकर रवाना हुए कुछ कंटेनर ट्रक कल दक्षिणी अफगानिस्तान में चमन चौकी से अफगानिस्तान में दाखिल हुए जिससे नैटो के लिए सात महीने से अधिक समय से बंद मार्ग फिर से चालू हो गया। पिछले साल नवम्बर में पाकिस्तान की सलाला सीमा चौकी पर नैटो सेनाओं कीे हवाई कार्रवाई में २४ पाकिस्तानी फौजियों की अनजाने में हुई मौत के बाद पाकिस्तान ने नैटो का सामान ले जाने वाले ट्रकों के अपनी सीमा से होकर गुजरने पर पाबंदी लगा दी थी।-
संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने चेतावनी दी है कि अगर सीरिया में चल रहे संकट का समाधान नहीं निकला तो वहां अभूतपूर्व हिंसा हो सकती है। सीरिया में संयुक्त राष्ट्र के उप राजनयिक जेन-मारी गुएरनो ने बताया कि सीरिया संकट सुलझाने के प्रस्ताव पर जिनेवा में सुरक्षा परिषद के सदस्य देशों के हस्ताक्षर सिर्फ एक शुरूआत है। उन्होंने कहा कि संकट के समाधान के लिए सीरियाई सरकार और विपक्ष के बीच व्यापक बातचीत होनी चाहिए। जेन-मारी ने कहा कि संयुक्त राष्ट्र या उसके पर्यवेक्षक बिना अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समुदाय की मदद के सीरिया में हिंसा खत्म नहीं कर सकते।-
चीन और क्यूबा सभी क्षेत्रों में अपनी परंपरागत मैत्री और सहयोग बढ़ाने पर सहमत हो गए हैं। क्यूबा की राष्ट्रीय परिषद और मंत्रिपरिषद की अध्यक्ष रॉल कास्त्रो रूज और चीन के राष्ट्रपति हू जिंताओ के बीच कल चीन में इस बारे में सहमति हुई। हू जिंताओ ने दोनों देशों के बीच व्यापार और आर्थिक सहयोग बढ़ाने पर जोर देते हुए कहा कि दोनों देश व्यापार, ऊर्जा, ढांचागत निर्माण, कृषि और जैव प्रौद्योगिकी के क्षेत्र में सहयोग कर सकते हैं और निवेश बढ़ा सकते हैं।

राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील ने कहा है कि आयुर्वेदिक पद्धति और दवाओं को पेटेंट कराने के साथ-साथ आयुर्वेद के फायदों के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा की जानी चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि आयुर्वेद हमारे देश की समृद्ध संस्कृति का अभिन्न अंग है। कल नजफगढ़ में दिल्ली सरकार द्वारा निर्मित चौधरी ब्रह्म प्रकाश आयुर्वेद चरक संस्थान के उद्घाटन अवसर पर उन्होंने कहा कि आयुर्वेदिक दवा निर्माताओं को पुरानी पांडुलिपियों में बताए गए मूल सिद्धांतों का पालन करना चाहिए। श्रीमती प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील ने कहा कि सरकार को पारम्परिक औषधियों और जड़ी-बूटियों का प्रमाणन और मानकीकरण करना चाहिए।औषधियों का पेटेंट कराने की दिशा में तीव्रता लानी होगी क्योंकि कई अन्य देशों के व्यक्तियों और संस्थानों द्वारा भी हमारे इस परंपरागत ज्ञान का पेटेंट अपने नाम से करवाया जा रहा है। हमें इस विषय में सतर्क रहना होगा क्योंकि आयुर्वेद हमारे परंपरागत ज्ञान का अभिन्न हिस्सा है।

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has assured the international community that India offers a level playing field for foreign investors and there will be no arbitrariness in tax matters. Speaking in an interview to a leading daily, the Prime minister identified, controlling fiscal deficit, achieving clarity on tax matters, reviving the mutual funds and insurance industries, clearing backlog of foreign investment proposals and boosting infrastructure as his focus areas in the short term. Dr Singh said, the country aims at fostering inclusive growth and efforts will continue to keep the country on the path of higher economic growth.
The Prime Minister said, his government would cut the red tape and improve the response time of the government to business proposals. Dr. Singh said, a lot of investment avenues are opening up in railways, roads, ports and civil aviation. He said the doors are open for the world to strengthen India’s hands and contribute to these vital sectors which will give a further push to the economy. Dr. Singh said, the public debate now should move to how to make an open economy work for all.
He said the government is also inviting investors to help build the country’s infrastructure, a key enabler of future economic growth. The Prime Minister said, consensus building is the key to long-term economic success and they are steadily moving ahead in that direction. Regarding his visit to Pakistan, Dr. Singh said he was looking forward to it but there have to be suitable outcomes for such a visit.

A Delhi court remanded Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, the key 26/11 handler to Delhi Police custody for another 15 days. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav yesterday said, Jundal's interrogation by the Special Cell will also help other agencies in their probe in various terror-related cases. The court said, other agencies like the National Investigation Agency, NIA and Mumbai Police' ATS and CID, would have to wait for seeking custody of Jundal till July 20 when his remand with Delhi Police will expire.
The Delhi Police submitted that the call detail records of the SIM cards were obtained through diplomatic channels and were being analyzed. The court was also informed about the probe it was conducting to establish the link between Jundal and other co-accused persons and invisible handlers in Lashkar-e-Toiba and Indian Mujahideen.

Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram said that India has conveyed to Islamabad that information from the interrogation of LeT Terrorist Abu Jundal clearly points to the involvement of Pakistan in the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai. The Minister speaking to newsmen in Kolkata yesterday said that information received from the interrogation clearly pointed to the involvement of non-state actors and state actors in Pakistan. Referring to the Dantewada episode, the Home Minister said , the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh wanted an inquiry and he is free to do so.

The Government has decided to export 2 million tonnes of wheat. Addressing newsmen in Kolkata yesterday the Chairman of the Group of Ministers on Media and Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram said that the country has a record production of rice and wheat this time. He said that after meeting domestic needs some quantity of wheat will be affordable to the export market. Mr. Chidambaram informed that 5 million tonnes of wheat will be distributed to BPL families soon.
Referring to the country’s economic situation he said that the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is taking several steps to address the financial crisis.

We think we have identified the causes for the decline and the Prime Minister who now look finance is taking and will take a number of steps to address those causes and I am confident that in 2012-13, the current year rebound will start and soon we will be back to the 8% plus growth rate.

In Jharkhand, at least nine persons were killed and 30 others injured in a bus accident in Bokaro district last night. Police said that the ill fated bus overturned amid pouring rain at Jodhadih More in Bokaro district . Police officials said that the bus carrying a wedding party was returning from Lilori to Chandankiari in the district when the accident took place. They said, all the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital. Five of the injured were stated to be critical.

Regional passport offices, including Passport Seva Kendras, PSKs, at several places across the country, will remain open tomorrow as a part of the government's passport mela programme to meet the high demand for passport services. The places are Jaipur, Kolkata, Patna, Cochin, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and Ambala. An External Affairs Ministry release said, an applicant can fill up a new application form available on the website - www.passportindia.gov.in - for passport services. He or she can visit the concerned PSK between 10 AM and 2 PM tomorrow along with a self-attested copy of each of the requisite documents.

The trucks carrying supplies for the NATO-led international forces have started reaching Afghanistan after the restoration of the NATO supply lines by Pakistan. Reports said the first few container trucks from Karachi port entered Afghanistan yesterday, resuming NATO transit after a gap of more than seven months. Pakistan blocked NATO supply lines through its territory after the inadvertent killing of 24 Pakistani soldiers in an air raid at Salala border post last November.

In another important step to bring back black money stashed abroad, New Delhi will be holding the next meeting of the Joint Working Group on the India-Mauritius Double Taxation Avoidance Convention next month. External Affairs Minister SM Krishna informed this while addressing a joint press conference with his Mauritius counterpart Dr. Arvin Boolell in New Delhi yesterday. उच्चतम न्यायालय ने बहुजन समाज पार्टी प्रमुख और उत्तर प्रदेश की पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री मायावती के खिलाफ आय से अधिक सम्पत्ति का नौ वर्ष से अधिक समय से चल रहा मामला आज खारिज कर दिया। न्यायालय ने अपने स्पष्ट निर्देश के बिना सुश्री मायावती के खिलाफ जांच शुरू करने के लिए सीबीआई की खिंचाई भी की। न्यायालय ने कहा कि सीबीआई ने सुश्री मायावती के खिलाफ जो तरीका अपनाया, उसकी जरूरत नहीं थी और उसने ताज गलियारा घोटाले में न्यायालय के आदेशों को अच्छी तरह समझे बिना उनके खिलाफ कार्रवाई शुरू की।
न्यायमूर्ति पी सताशिवम् की अध्यक्षता में पीठ ने स्पष्ट किया कि उच्चतम न्यायालय के आदेश में इस घोटाले के सिलसिले में राज्य सरकार के अधिकारियों के खिलाफ जांच शुरू करने की बात कही गयी थी और उसमें ऐसा कोई निर्देश नहीं दिया गया था कि सुश्री मायावती के खिलाफ आय के ज्ञात स्रोतों से अधिक कथित रूप से सम्पत्ति जमा करने के मामले में एक अलग एफआईआर दर्ज की जाए।

मुम्बई उच्च न्यायालय में कल एक जनहित याचिका पर सुनवाई हुई, जिसमें आरोप लगाया गया है कि महाराष्ट्र के दो पूर्व मुख्यमंत्रियों ने मुम्बई में बांद्रा बैंडस्टैेंड में प्रसिद्ध होटल सी रॉक के पुनर्विकास के लिए अतिरिक्त फ्लोर स्पेस इंडेक्स की अवैध मंजूरी दी।
दिल्ली स्थित कार्यकर्ता और वकील सोनिया राज सूद द्वारा दायर इस जनहित याचिका में कहा गया है कि पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री बिलास राव देशमुख ने ७ अक्तूबर, २००८ को विकास नियंत्रण नियम डीसीआर-१९६७ के तहत इस होटल के लिए ढ़ाई फ्लोर स्पेस इंडेक्स की मंजूरी दी थी। श्री चव्हाण का नाम लिए बिना इस जनहित याचिका में आगे कहा गया है कि अगले मुख्यमंत्री ने २० जुलाई २००९ को डीसीआर १९९१ के तहत होटल को तीन और फ्लोर स्पेस इंडेक्स की मंजूरी दी। श्री चव्हाण पांच दिसम्बर २००८ से ९ नवम्बर २०१० तक महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री रहे। याचिका में कहा गया है कि इन दोनों मुख्यमंत्रियों ेने इस मामले में अपने विवेकाधीन अधिकारों का इस्तेमाल किया जो एक अकेली परियोजना के लिए इस्तेमाल नहीं किये जा सकते। याचिका में आगे कहा गया है कि दो डीसीआर एक ही भूखंड पर लागू नहीं किये जा सकते। याचिका में यह आरोप भी लगाया गया है कि इस मामले में १२०० करोड़ रूपये की स्टैम्प ड्यूटी नहीं दी गयी, जो राज्य सरकार को दी जानी है।
न्यायमूर्ति एस ए बोबड़े और न्यायमूर्ति मृदुला भाटकर की खंडपीठ ने केन्द्र सरकार, राज्य सरकार और अन्य सम्बद्ध सरकारी अधिकारियों को नोटिस जारी किए हैं और उनसे चार हफ्ते के अंदर जवाब देने को कहा है। मामले की अगली सुनवाई दो अगस्त को होगी।

दूरसंचार विभाग ने अपने कानूनी अधिवक्ता, अतिरिक्त सॉलीसीटर जनरल ए एस चंडोक से विभिन्न क्षेत्रों के बीच थ्री जी रोमिंग सेवा के मुद्दे पर राय मांगी है। उसने पूछा है कि क्या तीन दूरसंचार कंपनियों-भारती एयरटेल, वोडाफोन और आइडिया को आपसी समझौतों के जरिये ऐसी सेवाएं उपलब्ध कराना जारी रखने की अनुमति दी जानी चाहिए।
टीडी सैट के दो सदस्यों की पीठ ने मंगलवार को इस मुद्दे पर परस्पर विरोधी फैसला सुनाया था। यह फैसला इन कंपनियों द्वारा ऐसे दूरसंचार सर्किलो में थ्री जी सेवाएं देने के लिए रोमिंग समझौते की वैधता को लेकर था, जहां उनके पास स्पैक्ट्रम उपलब्ध नहीं है। कंपनियों का कहना है कि चूंकि फैसला परस्पर विरोधी है, इसलिए वे ऐसे इलाकों में भी हाई एण्ड डाटा सेवाएं देना जारी रख सकती हैं, जहां के लिए उनके पास थ्री जी की परमिट नहीं है। दूसरी ओर दूरसंचार विभाग का मत है कि परस्पर विरोधी फैसले से उसके सामने यह रास्ता खुल गया है कि वह लाइसेंस की शर्तो का कथित उल्लंघन करने और आपस में रोमिंग संबंधी समझौता करने के मामले में मोबाइल फोन कंपनियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई शुरू करे।

केन्द्रीय कृषि मंत्री शरद पवार ने मछली और मछली उत्पादों के निर्यात को बढ़ावा देने के लिए गुणवत्ता नियंत्रण उपाय बढ़ाने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया है। आज मुम्बई में केन्द्रीय मछली पालन, शिक्षा संस्थान में श्री पवार ने कहा कि भारत के पास व्यापक मछली और अन्य जल जंतुओं के पालने की व्यापक संभावनाएं हैं। इनका पता लगाया जाना चाहिए और उनका उपयोग किया जाना चाहिए। श्री पवार ने कहा कि वैश्विकरण के इस युग में गुणवत्ता मानदंडों को पर्यावरण अनुकूल तरीकों से बनाए रखने की जरूरत है, जिनमें एंटी बायटिक्स और रसायनों का इस्तेमाल न किया जाए।
श्री पवार ने कहा कि भारत, दुनिया में चीन के बाद दूसरा सबसे बड़ा मछली उत्पादक देश है। पिछले पांच वर्षों में मछली पालन क्षेत्र, छह प्रतिशत
की दर से वृद्धि कर रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि यह उद्योग विदेशी मुद्रा अर्जित करने का एक प्रमुख साधन होने के साथ-साथ एक करोड़ ४० लाख से अधिक लोगों की जीविका का साधन भी है।
श्री पवार ने मुम्बई में केन्द्रीय मछली पालन शिक्षा संस्थान में नई सुविधाओं का उद्घाटन भी किया। इनका उद्देश्य भारत तथा एशिया और अफ्रीका के अन्य देशों के छात्रों को प्रशिक्षण देने के लिए बुनियादी सुविधाएं बढ़ाना है।

एयर इंडिया प्रबंधन और इंडियन पायलट्स गिल्ड के बीच आज शाम मुख्य श्रम आयुक्त की अध्यक्षता में सुलह सफाई बैठक होने की उम्मीद है। इस बैठक की रिपोर्ट सोमवार को दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय के सामने पेश की जाएगी, जो इस मामले पर नजर रखे हुए है। पायलट न्यायालय में जरूरी हलफनामे पहले ही दायर कर चुके हैं।
एयर इंडिया के ४३४ पायलटों ने दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय के निर्देश पर मंगलवार को अपनी हड़ताल समाप्त कर दी थी। न्यायालय ने उन्हें ४८ घंटे के अंदर काम पर लौटने को कहा था।

छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार ने पिछले हफ्ते बीजापुर जिले में हुई मुठभेड़ की न्यायिक जांच के आदेश दिए हैं। इस मुठभेड़ में १७ संदिग्ध माओवादी मारे गए थे और केन्द्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल के छह जवान घायल हो गए थे। कल शाम राज्य मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में यह फैसला किया गया। राज्य सरकार उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश से इस मुठभेड़ की जांच के लिए किसी मौजूदा न्यायाधीश को नियुक्त करने का अनुरोध करेगी। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि जांच आयोग घटना के विभिन्न पहलुओं की जांच करेगा और भविष्य के लिए सुझाव भी देगा।

चौतरफा दबाव और विधानसभा के आगामी मॉनसून सत्र को ध्यान में रखते हुए छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार ने आखिरकार बीजापुर मुठभेड़ मामले की न्यायिक जांच कराने का फैसला ले लिया है। इस मुठभेड़ में निर्दोष आदिवासी मारे गये हैं या नहीं, यह तो जांच के बाद ही सामने आयेगा। लेकिन फिलहाल राज्य सरकार इस काण्ड के बाद गरमाई राजनीति को शान्त करना चाहती है। सरकार ने इस जांच को पूरा करने के लिए कोई समय सीमा अभी तय नहीं की है। विकल्प शुक्ला आकाशवाणी समाचार रायपुर।

त्रिपुरा में कल गिरफ्तार किये गये बंगलादेश की त्वरित कार्रवाई बटालियन-रैब के जवान और एक बंगलादेशी नागरिक को देर रात बॉर्डर गार्ड बंगलादेश के सुपुर्द कर दिया गया। इन्हें त्रिपुरा के खोवई जिले के आसाराम्बरी इलाके में हिरासत में लिया गया था। ये दोनों सीमा पार करके भारतीय क्षेत्र में आए थे और इन्होंने इस इलाके से एक भारतीय नागरिक का अपहरण करने की कोशिश की थी। दोनों को गांव वालों ने अपने कब्जे में करके सीमा सुरक्षा बल-बीएसएफ के सुपुर्द कर दिया था। अगरतला में सीमा सुरक्षाबल के एक अधिकारी के अनुसार बॉर्डरगार्ड बंगलादेश से कहा गया है कि वह इन दोनों बंगलादेशी नागरिकों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करे और बीएसएफ को कार्रवाई के बारे में जानकारी दे।

झारखंड में कल रात बोकारो और धनबाद के बीच राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर चास के पास सोलगिडीह में एक बस दुर्घटना में सात लोग मारे गए और ३६ घायल हो गए। पुलिस के अनुसार यह बस एक मोड़ पर पलट गई। दुर्घटनाग्रस्त बस एक बारात को लेकर लिलोरी से चंदनक्यारी जा रही थी। घायलों को पास के अस्पताल में भर्ती करा दिया गया है। छह घायलों की हालत गंभीर बताई गई है।

केन्द्रीय पर्यटन मंत्री सुबोध कांत सहाय ने कहा है कि दक्षिण एशियाई क्षेत्रीय सहायोग संगठन-सार्क देशों में पर्यटन को बढ़ावा देने की संभावनाओं का पता लगाया जाना चाहिए। वे आज नई दिल्ली में सार्क देशों के पर्यटन उद्योग से सम्बद्ध लोगों के एक सम्मेलन में बोल रहे थे। उन्होंने कहा कि सार्क देशों में इस क्षेत्र में विकास की बहुत क्षमता है, जबकि अब तक इस दिशा में पूरे तौर पर काम नहीं किया गया है। सार्क देशों की सांस्कृतिक विविधता का जिक्र करते हुए श्री सहाय ने कहा कि इस इलाके में सुन्दर दृश्यावली, प्राकृतिक सौन्दर्य और विभिन्न समुदायों का मिला जुला रूप देखने को मिलता है। ये बातें सार्क क्षेत्र को पर्यटन की दृष्टि से बहुत आकर्षक बनाती हैं। श्री सहाय ने कहा कि विश्व पर्यटन संगठन की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार २०३० तक एशिया और प्रशान्त क्षेत्र में आने वाले अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पर्यटकों की संख्या ५३ करोड़ ५० लाख तक पहुंच जाएगी, जबकि २०१० में ऐसे पर्यटकों की संख्या बीस करोड़ से कुछ ही अधिक थी। इनमें से अधिकांश पर्यटक खास तौर पर एशिया में पहुंचेंगे। श्री सहाय ने मैक्सिको में जी ट्वेंटी देशों के हाल के शिखर सम्मेलन के प्रस्ताव का भी जिक्र किया। उनके अनुसार इस प्रस्ताव में यह स्वीकार किया गया है कि खास तौर पर युवाओ और महिलाओं के लिए रोजगार के अवसर दिलाने में पर्यटन की बहुत महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है। प्रस्ताव में ये भी कहा गया है कि गरीबी कम करने और आर्थिक वृद्धि में पर्यटन का महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है।
श्री सहाय ने बताया कि सरकार इस साल सितम्बर में वाराणसी में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बौद्ध सम्मेलन आयोजित करने की योजना बना रही है। इसका उद्देश्य भारत की बौद्ध विरासत को सामने लाना है।

मॉनसून पिछले ४८ घंटों में और आगे बढ़ा है। इसकी गति भी अच्छी है। मॉनसून दिल्ली के द्वार पर पहुंच गया है। अगले ४८ घंटों में दिल्ली में मॉनसून की वर्षा होने की सम्भावना है। हालांकि दिल्ली के कुछ इलाकों में कल और आज सुबह मॉनसून के पहले की बौछारें पड़ी।
कल अधिकतम तापमान चार डिग्री बढ़कर ४१ दशमलव एक डिग्री सेल्सियस और न्यूनतम तापमान २९ दशमलव एक डिग्री सेल्सियस रिकार्ड किया गया। मौसम विभाग के अनुसार आज आमतौर पर बादल छाये रहेंगे। शाम को या रात को शहर में और इसके आसपास के इलाकों में आंधी-तूफान के साथ वर्षा हो सकती है। आज नमी अधिकतम शत-प्रतिशत और न्यूनतम ३९ प्रतिशत रही। अधिकतम तापमान ३८ डिग्री और न्यूनतम २७ डिग्री सेल्सियस रहने का अनुमान लगाया गया है।

असम में धेमाजी जिले में बाढ़ की स्थिति लगातार चिंताजनक है। तीन सौ १५ गांव कल जलमग्न हो गए। जिले के भेभली में राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग संख्या-५२ के क्षतिग्रस्त हिस्से की सीमा सड़क संगठन ने मरम्मत कर दी है। इसके बाद आज इस मार्ग पर वाहनों का आवागमन शुरू हो गया है। अब तक बाढ़ और जमीन धंसने की घटना में एक सौ १७ लोगों की जान गई है जबकि १७ लोग लापता हैं। राज्य के दस जिलों में बनाये गए चार सौ राहत शिविरों में दो लाख ८८ हजार लोगों ने शरण ले रखी है। प्रभावित जिलों में स्वास्थ्य विभाग ने डेढ़ सौ चिकित्सा दल तैनात किए हैं।

मध्यप्रदेश में पिछले ४८ घंटों में हुई अलग अलग दुर्घटनाओं में १४ लोगों की मौत हो गई और सात लोग घायल हो गए। रीवा में परसों मूसलाधार बारिश के बाद एक दीवार के गिरने से चार लोगों की दबकर मौत हो गई जबकि तीन लोग घायल हो गए। राज्य शासन ने मृतकों के परिजनों को एक एक लाख रूपये और घायलों को २५-२५ हजार रूपये की अनुग्रह राशि दिये जाने की घोषणा की।
उधर, दमोह जिले में बिजली गिरने से ग्राम ग्वारी, हरदुआ और सलैया में तीन लोगों की मौत हो गई। बिजली गिरने से ही कटनी जिले में पांच लोगों की मौत होने की खबर है। इनमें तीन बच्चे शामिल है। मृतकों के परिजनों को एक-एक लाख रूपये देने की घोषणा की गई है।

राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटील को आज राष्ट्रपति भवन में राष्ट्रीय जनसंख्या रजिस्टर में पंजीकृत किया गया। राष्ट्रीय जनसंख्या रजिस्टर भारत सरकार की एक प्रमुख योजना है। अपने बायोमीट्रिक पंजीकरण के बाद राष्ट्रपति ने सभी देशवासियों से इस रजिस्टर में अपना नाम पंजीकृत कराने की अपील की।
राष्ट्रपति के पंजीकरण की प्रक्रिया केन्द्रीय गृह सचिव आर के सिंह के नेतृत्व में एक दल की मौजूदगी में हुई। इस दल में भारत के जनगणना आयुक्त डॉक्टर सी चंद्रमौली,उपमहानिदेशक एस के चक्रवर्ती और दिल्ली की जनगणना निदेशक वर्षा जोशी शामिल थीं।
राष्ट्रीय जनसंख्या रजिस्टर बनाने के लिए जनांकिकीय आंकड़े अप्रैल से सितम्बर २०१० के दौरान पूरे देश से घर-घर जाकर एकत्र किये गए हैं। बाद में इन आंकड़ों को डिजिटल बनाया गया है और अब बायोमीट्रिक पंजीकरण चल रहा है। राष्ट्रीय आबादी रजिस्टर के बायोमीट्रिक के साथ आंकड़े एकत्र होने के बाद यू.आइ.डी.ए.आई. को भेजे जाएंगे, ताकि विशिष्ट पहचान नम्बर- आधार की नकल न हो सके और न उनमें कोई गड़बड़ी की जा सके। नागरिकता कानून १९५५ और नागरिकता नियम २००३ के तहत सभी भारतीय नागरिकों के लिए राष्ट्रीय जनसंख्या रजिस्टर में पंजीकरण कराना अनिवार्य है।

केन्द्र ने पिछले वित्त वर्ष में निःशुल्क कोचिंग और सम्बद्ध योजना के तहत अल्पसंख्यक वर्गो के सात हजार ८३० छात्रों को कोचिंग प्रदान की, जबकि लक्ष्य छह हजार छात्रों को ऐसी कोचिंग प्रदान करने का था। एक सरकारी विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि अल्पसंख्यक मामलों के मंत्रालय ने इस काम के लिए १७ राज्यों में ४७ कोचिंग सैन्टरों को लगभग १६ करोड़ रूपये उपलब्ध कराए। मंत्रालय ने इस वित्त वर्ष में इस कार्य के लिए बीस करोड़ रूपये का आवंटन किया है।

सरकार देश में पासपोर्ट की बढ़ती मांग को पूरा करने के लिए पासपोर्ट मेले लगा रही है। इसी योजना के तहत जयपुर, कोलकाता, पटना ,कोच्चि, कोझीकोड, तिरूवनंतपुरम और अम्बाला में पासपोर्ट सेवा केन्द्र सहित क्षेत्रीय पासपोर्ट कार्यालय कल खुले रहेंगे।
विदेश मंत्रालय की विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि आवेदक पासपोर्ट के लिए मंत्रालय की वेबसाइटwww.passportindia.gov.in पर उपलब्ध नए आवेदन फार्म भर सकते हैं। आवेदक जरूरी दस्तावेजों की प्रति के साथ शनिवार सुबह दस बजे से दोपहर दो बजे के बीच संबंधित पासपोर्ट सेवा केंद्र जा सकते हैं। पासपोर्ट मेले के दौरान आवेदन जमा करने के लिए ऑनलाइन समय मांगने की जरूरत नहीं है। आवेदन व्यक्तिगत रूप से ही स्वीकार किये जायेंगे और किसी अन्य व्यक्ति के हाथों नहंीं भेजा जा सकता। पासपोर्ट मेले के दौरान तत्काल को छोड़कर सभी पासपोर्ट सेवाओं से जुड़े आवेदन स्वीकार किये जायेंगे।

भारत ने कहा है कि दक्षिण चीन सागर उसकी ऊर्जा सुरक्षा की दृष्टि से महत्वपूर्ण है और इस क्षेत्र में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कानूनों के अनुसार विवाद को शांतिपूर्ण ढंग से सुलझा लिया जाना चाहिए। इस इलाके में बढ़ते तनाव पर वियतनाम में भारतीय दूत रंजीत रे ने चिन्ता व्यक्त की है। आज हनोई में उन्होंने कहा कि भारत का आधा निर्यात आयात इसी रास्ते से होता है और भारत अपने को यहां के द्वीपों और उनके विकास का अविभाज्य अंग मानता है। उधर, चीन ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कानूनों के तहत विवाद निबटाने का विरोध किया है। वह सम्बद्ध देशों के साथ आपसी बातचीत के जरिये मुद्दों को हल करने पर जोर दे रहा है।
चीन ने दक्षिण चीन सागर में गश्त लगाने के लिए अपने चार नौसैनिक निगरानी जहाज तैनात किये हैं, जिनसे इस क्षेत्र में नये सिरे से तनाव पैदा हो गया है। उसने इन जहाजो की तैनाती कई द्वीपों पर अपनी प्रभुसत्ता को लेकर दबाव डालने के लिए की है, जबकि वियतनाम और फिलीपिन्स जैसे कई देशों ने इन्हें अपने आर्थिक क्षेत्र का अंग बताया है। वियतनाम का कहना है कि यहां स्थित तेल प्रखण्ड उसके आर्थिक क्षेत्र में आते है। भारत से चीन कहता रहा है कि वह इस इलाके में शांति और स्थिरता बनाए रखने के उद्देश्य से वियतनामी प्रखण्डो में तेल के लिए खुदाई का काम न करे।
भारत और वियतनाम दोनों ने ही दक्षिण चीन सागर पर चीन के दावे को नामंजूर किया है।

भारत और पोलैण्ड ने मिलकर दृश्य-श्रव्य सामग्री तैयार करने के एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये हैं। इसका उद्देश्य फिल्मों के क्षेत्र में आपसी सहयोग को बढ़ावा देना है। वारसा में इस समझौते पर सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्री श्रीमती अम्बिका सोनी औेर पोलैण्ड के संस्कृति तथा राष्ट्रीय विरासत मंत्री बी जेडरोवस्की ने हस्ताक्षर किये। समझौते के अंतर्गत मिलकर दृश्य-श्रव्य सामग्री तैयार करने के लिए कानूनी व्यवस्था कायम की गई है। यह व्यवस्था खास तौर पर फिल्मों को लेकर है, जिनमें सिनेमा तथा टेलीविजन के लिए ऐनिमेशन और वृतचित्र तैयार करना शामिल हैं। एक सरकारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार इस समझौते से निर्माताओं , पटकथा लेखकों, निर्देशकों, तकनीशियनों और कलाकारों को एक दूसरे के देश में जाने और कुछ समय तक वहां रहने की सुविधा भी उपलब्ध हो जाएगी। यह समझौता पांच वर्ष क्े लिए किया गया है।

कुवैत के अमीर ने निवर्तमान प्रधानमंत्री शेख जाबर अल मुबारक अल सबा से नई सरकार बनाने को कहा है। हमारे पश्चिम एशिया संवाददाता ने बताया है कि इससे देश में सुप्रीम कोर्ट द्वारा नव निर्वाचित संसद को भंग किये जाने के बाद देश में राजनीतिक संकट दूर करने में सहायता मिलने की उम्मीद है।

कुवैत के नये नियुक्त प्रधानमंत्री शेख जाबर के सामने चुनौती होगी, १५ सदस्यों वाले नये मंत्रिमंडल की नियुक्ति। नई केबिनेट को पूर्ववर्ती संसद के सामने शपथ लेना होगा क्योंकि निवर्तमान संसद को कुवैत के सुप्रीम संवैधानिक न्यायालय ने भंग कर दिया था। इससे पहले इस्लामी विपक्ष के भ्रष्टाचार के आरोपों और प्रदर्शनों के बीच कुवैत के अमीर ने शेख जाबर की सरकार से इस्तीफा ले लिया था। नई निर्वाचित संसद जो फरवरी के चुनावों के बाद बनी थी, उसे कुवैत की सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने भंग कर पुरानी संसद को बहाल कर दिया है। कुवैत में पिछले छह सालों में आठ सरकारें बदली जा चुकी हैं। जानकारों की राय में नई केबिनेट के गठन के बाद अगले कदम के रूप में रमजान की छुट्टियों के बाद कुवैत में आम चुनाव का ऐलान हो सकता है। अतुल तिवारी आकाशवाणी समाचार।

असम में लखीमपुर जिले में नारायणपुर रेवेन्यू सर्किल के अन्तर्गत पुलिनहारनी देश का ऐसा दूसरा गांव बन गया है जिसमें सभी लोगों ने जीवन बीमा करा लिया है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि वित्त मंत्रालय द्वारा चलाई जा रही योजना के अन्तर्गत विभिन्न बैंकों ने बीमा कंपनियों के साथ मिलकर इनका बीमा कराया है।

The Supreme Court today quashed a nine-year-long disproportionate assets case against BSP Chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati. The apex court also pulled up the CBI for initiating the probe against her without specific directions from it. The Court said that the method adopted by the CBI was unwarranted and the agency proceeded against her without properly understanding its orders passed in the Taj Corridor scam.
A Bench headed by Justice P Sathasivam clarified that the Supreme Court order pertained to initiating probe against state government officials in the scam and there was no such direction to lodge another FIR exclusively against Mayawati for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.

The Chhattisgarh government has ordered a judicial probe into the encounter in Bijapur district last week, where 17 suspected Maoists were killed and six CRPF jawans were injured. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting last evening. The state government will request the chief justice of the High Court to appoint a sitting judge to probe the encounter. The probe panel will inquire into various aspects of the incident and will also offer suggestions for the future.

In Kashmir valley, an encounter is on in Rajwar area of frontier Kupwara district. Army assisted by Special Operations Group of Police, has laid a siege around the area where militants are holed up and intermittent firing is going on. Yesterday, three militants were killed in two separate encounters in Zachaldhara area of the same district.

A public interest litigation, PIL, heard in the Bombay High Court yesterday, has alleged that two former Chief Ministers of Maharashtra had illegally sanctioned extra FSI for the redevelopment of the Hotel Sea Rock at Bandra Bandstand in Mumbai.The PIL filed by Delhi-based activist-lawyer Sonia Raj Sood, said that former CM Vilasrao Deshmukh had approved a 2.5 Floor Space Index, FSI plan to redevelop the sea-facing hotel on October 7, 2008 under DCR (development control regulation) 1967. Without naming Chavan, the PIL goes on to say that the next Chief Minister increased the FSI by a further 3 on July 20, 2009 under DCR 1991.A division bench of Justice SA Bobade and Justice Mridula Bhatkar, who were hearing the petition, issued notices to all the respondents including the Central government, State government and other government authorities and asked for replies in four weeks. The matter is posted for August the 2nd.

A reconciliatory meeting between the Air India management and the Indian Pilots Guild, chaired by the Chief Labour Commissioner, is likely to be held this evening. A report of the meeting is to be submitted to the Delhi High Court on Monday which is also monitoring the case. The pilots have already submitted required affidavits in the court.434 Air India pilots called off their strike on Tuesday on the direction of the Delhi High Court, which asked them to join duty in 48 hours.

In Jharkhand, seven people were killed and 36 injured when a bus carrying a marriage party, turned turtle at Solgedih near Chass on the National Highway between Bokaro and Dhanbad. The injured have been admitted in different hospitals of Bokaro and Chaas. Six of the injured are in critical condition. Our Ranchi Correspondent reports that all the victims of the accident are from Chakulia under Chaas block. The accident happened late last night when the marriage party was returning from Lilori to Chass.

President Pratibha Devisingh Patil was enrolled under the National Population Register (NPR) at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The NPR is a flagship scheme of the Government of India. Speaking after her biometric enrollment, the President appealed to all residents to come forward and ensure their enrollment in the NPR.
The enrollment procedure took place in the presence of a team led by the Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh, including the Census Commissioner of India, Dr. C. Chandramouli, Deputy Director General (NPR), S.K. Chakrabarti and the Director of Census Operation, Delhi, Varsha Joshi.
The demographic data for the creation of the NPR was collected for the entire country during April to September 2010 through house-to-house enumeration. The data has since been digitized and currently, biometric enrollment is in progress. Once collected, the NPR data along with biometrics would be sent to UIDAI for de-duplication and degeneration of UID numbers (Aadhar). Registration in the NPR is mandatory for all usual residents of the country under the Citizenship Act 1955 and Citizenship Rules 2003.

Union Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Sharad Pawar has stressed on increased quality control measures to boost export of fish and fisheries products. Speaking at the Central Institute of Fisheries Education in Mumbai today, Mr. Pawar said, India has got vast fishery and aquaculture resources which need to be further explored and harnessed. The Minister said, in the era of globalization, there is a need to meet quality criteria through sustainable and eco-friendly ways avoiding use of antibiotics and chemicals. He said there is an urgent need to raise well trained human resources on sanitary measures, hazard analysis and eco-friendly farming.
Mr. Pawar said, India today is the second largest producer of fish in the world after China. The fisheries sector has been growing at 6 per cent over the past five years. He added that apart from being a major foreign exchange earner, fisheries is the source of livelihood for over 14 million people.
Mr. Pawar also inaugurated new facilities at the Central Institute of Fisheries Education in Mumbai aimed at augmenting infrastructure to train students from India and other countries of Asia and Africa.

In Tripura, the Jawan of the Rapid Action Battalion, RAB, and the Bangladeshi national who were arrested yesterday from Asarambari area of Khowai district, have been handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh, BGB, late last night. The Jawan of the RAB which is an elite special security force of Bangladesh, and the Bangladeshi national crossed over to the Indian side and tried to kidnap an Indian national from that area. They were captured by the villagers and handed over to the BSF. According to a BSF official in Agartala, the Border Guard Bangladesh, BSB has been asked to take action against the two Bangladesh nationals and to inform the BSF about the action taken.

Union Minister for Tourism Subodh Kant Sahai today called upon the Tour Operators of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, SAARC countries to explore the possibility of tourism in the region. Addressing the SAARC tour operators conclave in New Delhi, he said that the SAARC region has immense growth potential which has not been fully utilized. Highlighting the cultural diversity of the region, Mr Sahai said, it has the combination of scenic landscapes, natural beauty and ethnic multiplicity. These facts make the SAARC region a great tourist attraction. The Minister said that as per the World Tourism Organisation's report, the international tourist arrivals to Asia and the Pacific are projected to increase from 204 million in 2010 to 535 million by 2030. Most of the new arrivals will be to the destinations in Asia in particular. Noting the resolution passed at the recently held G- 20 Summit in Mexico's, Mr Sahai said that it acknowledged tourism as the major sector for employment generation, particularly for the youth and women. The resolution also refers tourism as a tool for poverty reduction and economic growth.
Mr Sahai said, the government is planning to organize an International Buddhist Conclave in Varanasi in September this year with a view to showcasing and projecting Buddhist heritage of India. India has a rich ancient Buddhist Heritage with several important sites associated with the life of Lord Buddha.

The monsoon has become fully active in Uttar Pradesh. Light to medium rainfall has occurred in the eastern, central UP with some parts of Bundelkhand region during past 24 hours. The much awaited south-west monsoon is likely to hit national capital Delhi in the next 48 hours. Talking to All India Radio, Director General of IMD, LS Rathore says, the city has already received pre-monsoon showers this morning in some parts of the capital.
"The monsoon has further advanced in last 48 hours. The movement is pretty good and it is right at the door of Delhi. And, I am sure that Delhi is going to face the onset of Monsoon in next 48 hours. We have been getting pre-monsoon showers scattered in some parts of Delhi. We got yesterday. and today also we are likely to get some showers in various parts in and around Delhi. But the real onset would be seen in only next 48 hours."
The Supreme Court today quashed a nine-year-long disproportionate assets case against BSP Chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati. The apex court also pulled up the CBI for initiating the probe against her without specific directions from it. The Court said that the method adopted by the CBI was unwarranted and the agency proceeded against her without properly understanding its orders passed in the Taj Corridor scam.
A Bench headed by Justice P Sathasivam clarified that the Supreme Court order pertained to initiating probe against state government officials in the scam and there was no such direction to lodge another FIR exclusively against Mayawati for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.

The Chhattisgarh government has ordered a judicial probe into the encounter in Bijapur district last week, where 17 suspected Maoists were killed and six CRPF jawans were injured. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting last evening. The state government will request the chief justice of the High Court to appoint a sitting judge to probe the encounter. The probe panel will inquire into various aspects of the incident and will also offer suggestions for the future.

In Kashmir valley, an encounter is on in Rajwar area of frontier Kupwara district. Army assisted by Special Operations Group of Police, has laid a siege around the area where militants are holed up and intermittent firing is going on. A public interest litigation, PIL, heard in the Bombay High Court yesterday, has alleged that two former Chief Ministers of Maharashtra had illegally sanctioned extra FSI for the redevelopment of the Hotel Sea Rock at Bandra Bandstand in Mumbai.The PIL filed by Delhi-based activist-lawyer Sonia Raj Sood, said that former CM Vilasrao Deshmukh had approved a 2.5 Floor Space Index, FSI plan to redevelop the sea-facing hotel on October 7, 2008 under DCR (development control regulation) 1967. Without naming Chavan, the PIL goes on to say that the next Chief Minister increased the FSI by a further 3 on July 20, 2009 under DCR 1991.A division bench of Justice SA Bobade and Justice Mridula Bhatkar, who were hearing the petition, issued notices to all the respondents including the Central government, State government and other government authorities and asked for replies in four weeks. The matter is posted for August the 2nd.

A reconciliatory meeting between the Air India management and the Indian Pilots Guild, chaired by the Chief Labour Commissioner, is likely to be held this evening. A report of the meeting is to be submitted to the Delhi High Court on Monday which is also monitoring the case. The pilots have already submitted required affidavits in the court.434 Air India pilots called off their strike on Tuesday on the direction of the Delhi High Court, which asked them to join duty in 48 hours.

In Jharkhand, seven people were killed and 36 injured when a bus carrying a marriage party, turned turtle at Solgedih near Chass on the National Highway between Bokaro and Dhanbad. The injured have been admitted in different hospitals of Bokaro and Chaas. Six of the injured are in critical condition. Our Ranchi Correspondent reports that all the victims of the accident are from Chakulia under Chaas block. The accident happened late last night when the marriage party was returning from Lilori to Chass.

President Pratibha Devisingh Patil was enrolled under the National Population Register (NPR) at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The NPR is a flagship scheme of the Government of India. Speaking after her biometric enrollment, the President appealed to all residents to come forward and ensure their enrollment in the NPR.
The enrollment procedure took place in the presence of a team led by the Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh, including the Census Commissioner of India, Dr. C. Chandramouli, Deputy Director General (NPR), S.K. Chakrabarti and the Director of Census Operation, Delhi, Varsha Joshi.
The demographic data for the creation of the NPR was collected for the entire country during April to September 2010 through house-to-house enumeration. The data has since been digitized and currently, biometric enrollment is in progress. Once collected, the NPR data along with biometrics would be sent to UIDAI for de-duplication and degeneration of UID numbers (Aadhar). Registration in the NPR is mandatory for all usual residents of the country under the Citizenship Act 1955 and Citizenship Rules 2003.

Union Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Sharad Pawar has stressed on increased quality control measures to boost export of fish and fisheries products. Speaking at the Central Institute of Fisheries Education in Mumbai today, Mr. Pawar said, India has got vast fishery and aquaculture resources which need to be further explored and harnessed. The Minister said, in the era of globalization, there is a need to meet quality criteria through sustainable and eco-friendly ways avoiding use of antibiotics and chemicals. He said there is an urgent need to raise well trained human resources on sanitary measures, hazard analysis and eco-friendly farming.
Mr. Pawar said, India today is the second largest producer of fish in the world after China. The fisheries sector has been growing at 6 per cent over the past five years. He added that apart from being a major foreign exchange earner, fisheries is the source of livelihood for over 14 million people.
Mr. Pawar also inaugurated new facilities at the Central Institute of Fisheries Education in Mumbai aimed at augmenting infrastructure to train students from India and other countries of Asia and Africa.

In Tripura, the Jawan of the Rapid Action Battalion, RAB, and the Bangladeshi national who were arrested yesterday from Asarambari area of Khowai district, have been handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh, BGB, late last night. The Jawan of the RAB which is an elite special security force of Bangladesh, and the Bangladeshi national crossed over to the Indian side and tried to kidnap an Indian national from that area. They were captured by the villagers and handed over to the BSF. According to a BSF official in Agartala, the Border Guard Bangladesh, BSB has been asked to take action against the two Bangladesh nationals and to inform the BSF about the action taken.

Union Minister for Tourism Subodh Kant Sahai today called upon the Tour Operators of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, SAARC countries to explore the possibility of tourism in the region. Addressing the SAARC tour operators conclave in New Delhi, he said that the SAARC region has immense growth potential which has not been fully utilized. Highlighting the cultural diversity of the region, Mr Sahai said, it has the combination of scenic landscapes, natural beauty and ethnic multiplicity. These facts make the SAARC region a great tourist attraction. The Minister said that as per the World Tourism Organisation's report, the international tourist arrivals to Asia and the Pacific are projected to increase from 204 million in 2010 to 535 million by 2030. Most of the new arrivals will be to the destinations in Asia in particular. Noting the resolution passed at the recently held G- 20 Summit in Mexico's, Mr Sahai said that it acknowledged tourism as the major sector for employment generation, particularly for the youth and women. The resolution also refers tourism as a tool for poverty reduction and economic growth.
Mr Sahai said, the government is planning to organize an International Buddhist Conclave in Varanasi in September this year with a view to showcasing and projecting Buddhist heritage of India. India has a rich ancient Buddhist Heritage with several important sites associated with the life of Lord Buddha.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 29.1 degree Celsius, a notch above normal while the maximum stood at 41.1 degree Celsius, four degrees above normal yesterday. It said, thunder storms along with rain may occur towards the evening or night in the city and its adjoining areas. Today's minimum and maximum humidity oscillated between 39 and 61 per cent. In Assam, flood condition continues to be grim in Dhemaji district where surging water submerged 315 villages yesterday. However, the movement of vehicles was restored today as the Border Road Organization repaired the damaged portion of National Highway Number - 52 at Bhebeli in the district. So far 117 people have lost their lives in flood and landslides while 17 remained untraceable. Two lakh, 88 thousand people have taken shelter at 405 relief camps in 10 districts. Health department has deployed 150 medical teams in the affected districts.

India has said that the south china sea is key to its energy security and the conflict in the region must be resolved peacefully as per international laws. Expressing concern over the escalating tension in the area, India's Ambassador to Vietnam, Ranjit Rae today said in Hanoi that half of India's export and import go through the South China Sea and India considers itself as an integral part of the archipelagos and its development. China has been opposing resolution of the dispute under international laws and insisting on resolving the issue through bilateral talks with respective countries.
Fresh tension engulfed the region after China deployed four surveillance naval ships to patrol the South China Sea in a bid to assert its sovereignty over a host of islands which were also claimed by a number of states including Vietnam and Philippines as part of their exclusive economic zone. Vietnam said, the oil blocks belong to its exclusive economic zone. China has been asking India to refrain from undertaking oil exploration in the Vietnamese blocks in order to ensure peace and stability in the area.
The Chinese claim on the South China Sea has been rejected by both India and Vietnam, saying as per the UN, the blocks belong to Vietnam. India has already made it clear that the entire Indian Ocean region stretching from East African coast to South China Sea remains crucial to its foreign trade, energy and national security. The timing of the deployment of the ships by China came as the Philippines and Vietnam made strong moves to assert their claims on some of the resource-rich islands.

Kuwait’s Emir has asked outgoing Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Sabah yesterday to form a new government. The move is expected to ease the political crisis in the country after the newly elected Parliament was dissolved by the Supreme Court. Our West Asia correspondent has filed this story-
"The Kuwaiti Prime Minister designate Sheikh Jaber will have to select a 15-member Cabinet which is likely to be in place by next week. It has to take oath in front of a parliament which was dissolved by the ruler in December but reinstated by the apex court. The Supreme Constitutional Court had declared February elections invalid, dissolved the newly elected Islamist opposition dominated parliament and reinstated the earlier parliament which was dissolved by the Emir of Kuwait. The earlier government was also headed by Sheikh Jaber which resigned last month amidst court ruling and corruption charges by the opposition. Kuwait has seen eight governments come and go in last six years due to bickering between the parliament and the Cabinet. A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale struck off the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu today. In Assam, Pulinaharani under Narayanpur Revenue Circle in Lakhimpur district yesterday became the second village in the country to have full life insurance coverage. The village has achieved this success under the Ministry of Finance’s Financial Inclusion plan which is being implemented by various Banks in association with insurance companies.
"It is the second instance of the Narayanpur branch of the Assam Grameen Bikash Bank. Earlier, in January this all the adult villagers of Rangati Misamara between 18 to 65 age group had been covered under Financial Inclusion programme. With this, Rangati Misamara became the first village in the country to do so .This time 625 people of 201 families of Pulinaharani have been covered under the purview of insurance facilities. Initiated by Finance Ministry and Reserve Bank of India, financial inclusion plan has been carrying out over 2000 villages of Assam having a population of 2000 and above. The main norm to avail the insurance coverage is that each villager should have a bank account. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange lost 52 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 17,487 in opening trade, this morning, as funds and retail investors resorted to mild profit-booking, amid subdued regional Bourses. Later, the Sensex remained weak, and stood 45 points, or 0.3 percent in the red, at 17,493 in afternoon deals, a short while ago.
Other Asian markets in Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan were down by between 0.1 percent and 0.9 percent, today, after rate cuts by central banks in China and Europe failed to enthuse investors. Over in the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had slipped 0.4 per cent in yesterday's trade.
The rupee today fell 52 paise to 55.49 against the dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange market following increased demand for the American currency from importers. The dollar also gained strength in the overseas market against the euro and other currencies. The rupee had ended 48 paise lower at 54.97 against the American currency yesterday over its previous closing.

The Centre has provided free coaching to 7,830 students belonging to the minority communities under its Free Coaching and Allied scheme during the last financial year as against the target of six thousand. An official release says, the Ministry of Minority Affairs has provided around 16 crore rupees to 47 coaching institutes spread over 17 states for the purpose. The Ministry has made an enhanced allocation of 20 crore rupees available for the scheme this fiscal.
Our Correspondent reports, the Free Coaching and Allied scheme aims at enhancing skills and knowledge of students belonging to the disadvantaged section of society among the minorities. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to such students to get employment in public and private sectors, admission in reputed institutions in technical and professional courses at under-graduate and post-graduate levels. The scheme also provides for earmarking 30 per cent of the target for girls.

Myanmar and the United States have agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level. Myanmar has agreed to the appointment of Derek J. Mitchell as US Ambassador Extraordinary to the country. Mitchell will be the first ambassador of the U.S. to Myanmar in 22 years following the country's historic election in April. Myanmar's acceptance of the appointment of Mitchell, who has been serving as US Special Representative and Policy Coordinator for Myanmar, signified the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The UN Security Council says, peacekeepers will remain in South Sudan for another year. The 15-member Council unanimously approved a resolution yesterday to extend the UN Mission in South Sudan to improve security. The latest spacecraft in Europe's long-running Meteosat series has gone into orbit on an Ariane rocket. It is now being manoeuvred into a position some 36,000 kilometres above the Earth from where it can keep a constant watch on developing weather systems. The spacecraft is the 10th Meteosat platform to go into service since 1977.

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने बहुजन समाज पार्टी प्रमुख और उत्तर प्रदेश की पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री मायावती के खिलाफ आय से अधिक सम्पत्ति का नौ वर्ष से अधिक समय से चल रहा मामला आज खारिज कर दिया। न्यायालय ने अपने स्पष्ट निर्देश के बिना सुश्री मायावती के खिलाफ जांच शुरू करने के लिए सीबीआई की खिंचाई भी की। न्यायालय ने कहा कि सीबीआई ने सुश्री मायावती के खिलाफ जो तरीका अपनाया, उसकी जरूरत नहीं थी और उसने ताज गलियारा घोटाले में न्यायालय के आदेशों को अच्छी तरह समझे बिना उनके खिलाफ कार्रवाई शुरू की।-----

केंद्रीय विधि मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद ने कहा है कि बहुजन समाज पार्टी की नेता मायावती की आय से अधिक संपत्ति का मामला उच्चतम न्यायालय में खारिज होने से राजनीति का कोई लेना-देना नहीं है। नई दिल्ली में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में उन्होंने कहा कि उच्चतम न्यायालय स्वायत्त, स्वतंत्र और देश की सम्मानीय संस्था है। सर्वोच्च अदालत के आदेश को किसी तरह की राजनीति से नहीं जोड़ना चाहिए।
सुप्रीम कोर्ट के निर्णय पर कुछ कहूं उचित नहीं होगा, सुप्रीम कोर्ट के निर्णय से उपर बढ़कर तो कोई निर्णय हो नहीं सकता।

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने यूपीए के राष्ट्रपति पद के उम्मीदवार प्रणब मुखर्जी के खिलाफ उस याचिका को खारिज कर दिया है जिसमें राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में वोट मांगने में उन पर कथित अनियमितता के आरोप लगाए गए थे। अदालत ने याचिकाकर्ता को चेतावनी दी कि अगर इस तरह के मुद्दों को लेकर अदालत के सामने फिर पेश हुए तो उनके खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की जाएगी। न्यायमूर्ति आफताब आलम और एच.एल. गोखले की पीठ ने याचिकाकर्ता पर पचास हजार रुपये का आरंभिक जुर्माना लगाया, लेकिन बाद में उसके क्षमायाचना करने पर यह जुर्माना माफ कर दिया गया।-----
हैदराबाद में सी बी आई की विशेष अदालत ने प्रवर्तन निदेशालय को कडप्पा सांसद जगनमोहन रेड्डी से पूछताछ करने की मंजूरी दे दी है, जिन्हें आय से अधिक सम्पत्ति मामले में गिरफ्तार किया गया है। हमारी संवाददाता के अनुसार प्रवर्तन निदेशालय की याचिका पर सी बी आई अदालत ने जगनमोहन रेड्डी को सम्मन भेजने के बाद पूछताछ की अनुमति दी है।प्रवर्तन निदेशालय को आय से अधिक सम्पत्ति के मामले में वाईएसआर कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष वाईएस जगनमोहन रेड्डी से पूछताछ की अनुमति मिल गई है। केन्द्रीय एजेंसी अब उनके समाचार पत्र और टी.वी चैनल सहित सभी कारोबारों में विदेशी निवेश के बारे में उनके बयान दर्ज करेगी। सीेबीआई अदालत ने प्रवर्तन निदेशालय को निर्देश दिया है कि जगन मोहन रेड्डी से उनके वकीलों की मौजूदगी में सवेरे १० बजे से शाम पांच बजे तक पूछताछ की जाये। कथित अवैध निवेश के बारे में उनसे २१ जुलाई तक पूछताछ होने की संभावना है। जगन मोहर रेड्डी अपने पिता, तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री वाईएस राजशेखर रेड्डी के साथ मिलकर अपने कारोबार में निवेश करने वाली कंपनियों को फायदा देने की साजिश के आरोप में १८ जुलाई तक न्यायिक हिरासत में हैदराबाद की चंचलगुडा सैंन्ट्रल जैल में हैं।

सरकार ने आश्वासन दिया है कि इंटरनेट और सोशल मीडिया पर सेंसर लगाने का उसका कोई इरादा नहीं है। विधि मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद ने कहा कि इस संदर्भ में पर्याप्त प्रावधान मौजूद हैं। सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रालय आपत्तिजनक सामग्री के मामले पर सभी संबंध पक्षों से विचार-विमर्श कर रहा है। नई दिल्ली में एडीटर्स गिल्ड ऑफ इंडिया को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि उनके सहयोगी और सूचना प्रोद्योगिकी मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल देश में इंटरनेट पर सेंसर का समर्थन नहीं किया है और सभी सम्बद्ध पक्ष आपत्तिजनक सामग्री को हटाने के मुद्दे पर बातचीत के लिए तैयार हैं। सोशल मीडिया बेवसाइट के नियमन पर उन्होंने कहा कि इस बारे में पर्याप्त प्रावधान उपलब्ध हैं।-----
निर्वाचन आयोग ने उप राष्ट्रपति चुनाव की अधिसूचना जारी कर दी है। लोकसभा के महासचिव और चुनाव अधिकारी टी. के. विश्वनाथन ने आज बताया कि उप राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए २० जुलाई तक नामांकन पत्र भरे जायेंगे। उसके अगले दिन, २१ जुलाई को नामांकन पत्रों की जांच होगी जबकि २३ जुलाई तक नाम वापस लिए जा सकेंगे। श्री विश्वनाथन के अनुसार अगर जरूरी हुआ तो मतदान ०७ अगस्त को दिन में दस बजे से पांच बजे तक कराया जायेगा और उसी दिन मतगणना होगी।-----
भारत और पोलैण्ड ने मिलकर दृश्य-श्रव्य सामग्री तैयार करने के एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये हैं। इसका उद्देश्य फिल्मों के क्षेत्र में आपसी सहयोग को बढ़ावा देना है। वारसा में इस समझौते पर सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्री श्रीमती अम्बिका सोनी औेर पोलैण्ड के संस्कृति तथा राष्ट्रीय विरासत मंत्री बी जेडरोवस्की ने हस्ताक्षर किये। समझौते के अंतर्गत मिलकर दृश्य-श्रव्य सामग्री तैयार करने के लिए कानूनी व्यवस्था कायम की गई है। यह व्यवस्था खास तौर पर फिल्मों को लेकर है। जिनमें सिनेमा तथा टेलीविजन के लिए ऐनिमेशन और वृतचित्र तैयार करना शामिल हैं। यह समझौता पांच वर्ष क्े लिए किया गया है।-----
डेमोक्रेटिक रिपब्लिक ऑफ कान्गो के पूर्व में विद्रोहियों ने युगांडा की सीमा से लगे बुनागाना शहर पर कब्ज+ा कर लिया है। एम-२३ नाम के विद्रोही गुट के एक प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि कांगो की सेना के साथ भीषण लड़ाई के बाद विद्रोहियों ने उस पूरे इलाके पर नियंत्रण कर लिया है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र का कहना है कि इस लड़ाई में उसके शांतिरक्षक दल का एक भारतीय सैनिक मारा गया है।-----

गुजरात उच्च न्यायालय ने राज्य के मंत्री पुरूषोतम सोलंकी के खिलाफ चार सौ करोड़ रूपये के अनुबंध घोटाले में मुकदमा चलाने की अनुमति देने के बारे में राज्यपाल कमला बेनीवाल को अंतिम निर्णय करने का आदेश दिया है। न्यायमूर्ति जयंत पटेल और सी एल सोनी की खंडपीठ ने मुख्यमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी के खिलाफ अवमानना की कार्रवाई को नामंजूर कर दिया।राज्य सरकार ने २९ जून को मत्स्य पालन मंत्री सोलंकी पर मुकदमा चलाने की अनुमति नहीं देने का फैसला किया था।

दिल्ली में आज मॉनसून पूर्व की वर्षा होने से दिल्लीवासियों को गर्मी और उमस से राहत मिली। शहर के अधिकांश भागों में आज शाम एक घंटे से अधिक समय तक मध्यम से भारी वर्षा हुई। इससे शहर के लक्ष्मी नगर, संसद मार्ग और आई टी ओ सहित विभिन्न भागों में पानी भर गया और यातायात बाधित रहा। मौसम विभाग के अनुसार, दिल्ली में अधिकतम तापमान ३८ दशमलव चार डिग्री सेल्सियस और न्यूनतम तापमान २९ दशमलव एक डिग्री सेल्सियस रिकॉर्ड किया गया।-----
मध्य प्रदेश में मॉनसून की सक्रियता लगातार बढ़ती जा रही है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि आने वाले २४ घंटों में राज्य के उत्तर-पश्चिमी हिस्सों में भारी वर्षा की संभावना है।मौसम विभाग के अनुसार राज्य के रीवा संभाग में उपरी हवा में चक्रवात के बनने से आने वाले दो-तीन दिनों तक इस क्षेत्र में बारिश होती रहेगी। राज्य में अब तक औसत रूप से १० सेंटीमीटर वर्षा हो चुकी है। जो सामान्य से सात सेंटीमीटर कम हैं। मौसम विभाग का मानना है कि राज्य में इस साल सामान्य वर्षा होगी। राज्य में मानसून की वर्षा होने के साथ ही बुआई के काम में तेजी आ गई है।

असम में, धेमाजी जिले में तीन सौ ३५ गांवों के करीब डेढ़ लाख लोग अब भी बाढ़ में फंसे हुए हैं। जिला प्रशासन ने प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में राहत और बचाव कार्य शुरू कर दिए हैं। राज्य में बाढ़ और भूस्खलन से अब तक एक सौ २१ लोगों की मृत्यु हुई हैं,जबकि १६ लोग अभी भी लापता हैं। राज्य में बाढ़ से करीब २२ लाख लोग प्रभावित हुए हैं। मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई ने स्थिति का जायजा लेने के लिए आज नलबाड़ी और बारपेटा जिले का दौरा किया।-----

देश में कोयले की कमी को पूरा करने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय-पी एम ओ ने आज पर्यावरण मंत्रालय को १२ परियोजनाओं को मंजूरी देने का निर्देश दिया है। इससे हर साल कोयले का एक करोड़ टन अतिरिक्त उत्पादन होगा। पी एम ओ ने कोयला, बिजली तथा पर्यावरण और वन मंत्रालयों के प्रतिनिधियों तथा कोल इंडिया लिमिटेड के अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक में कोयले के उत्पादन की समीक्षा की।-----

The Supreme Court today quashed a nine-year-long disproportionate assets case against BSP Chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati. The apex court also pulled up the CBI for initiating the probe against her without specific directions from it.
A Bench headed by Justice P Sathasivam clarified that the Supreme Court order pertained to initiating a probe against state government officials in the Taj Corridor scam and there was no such direction to lodge another FIR exclusively against Mayawati for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.

A CBI special Court in Hyderabad has given its approval to the Enforcement Directorate to question Kadapa Lok Sabha Member Jaganmohan Reddy who was arrested in connection with the Disproportionate assets case. On a petition filed by the Enforcement Directorate, the CBI court gave its nod to question the Kadapa MP only after serving him summons. More from Our Correspondent:
The Central Agency will record his statement under the Money Laundering Act with respect to the investments from foreign land in his business including a newspaper and TV Channel. While granting permission, the CBI court has asked the ED to undertake the interrogation between 10 AM and 5PM daily in the presence of Jaganmohan Reddy’s lawyers. In a related development, the CBI special court in Hyderabad extended the judicial remand of the accused in both the illegal mining case and the disproportionate assets case till the 18th of this month. The last date of filing of nominations is th 20th of this month. Assuring that the government does not plan to censor the internet and social media, Law Minister Salman Khurshid today said adequate provisions are already in place and the IT Ministry is also holding consultations with various stakeholders to address concerns on objectionable content.
Addressing a gathering of 'Editors Guild of India' in New Delhi Mr Khurshid said his colleague and IT Minister Kapil Sibal does not endorse the view of internet censorship in the country and stakeholders have shown willingness to discuss all issues, including how any viral material can be removed. On the issue of regulating social media websites, he said adequate provisions are available in this regard.

India and Poland have signed an audio-visual co-production agreement to enhance bilateral cooperation in the films sector. The agreement establishes a legal framework for relations in audio visual co-production, especially films including animation and documentary films for cinema and television and those solely intended for dissemination on analogue or digital data carriers.
The agreement, which was signed between Information and Broadcasting minister Ms Ambika Soni and Polish Minister for Culture and National Heritage, B Zdrojewski in Warsaw, also covers laboratory processing activities and facilitates movement of film equipment and associated infrastructure required for co-production.
According to an official release, the agreement will also facilitate producers, screenwriters, directors, technicians and actors to enter and briefly stay in each other’s country. The agreement will be valid for a period of five years.

The much-awaited pre-monsoon showers lashed the National Capital today bringing relief to Delhiites bearing scorching heat for over a month. Medium to heavy rain lashed most parts of the city at around 6 PM and continued for over an hour, leading to traffic snarls at major traffic intersections. In Assam, around 1 lakh 50 thousand people of 335 villages are still reeling under water in Dhemaji. The District administration has undertaken relief and rescue measures in the affected areas. The death toll has mounted to 121 so far in flood and landslides. Another 16 people remained untraceable. Around 22 lakh people have been affected so far in the current wave of flood. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today visited Nalbari and Barpeta district to take stock of the situation.

Sowing of kharif crops like rice and pulses is picking up in various parts of the country. According to data released by the Agriculture Ministry, over 55 lakh hectare area has been covered under cultivation of rice so far while coarse cereals have been sown in around 22 lakh hectare area and oilseeds in over 26 lakh hectare area. This time 66 thousand hectare of additional area has been brought under cultivation of pulses so far as compared to the last year during the same period.

In order to meet the shortage of coal production in the country,the Prime Minister's Office, PMO, today sought to give a push to Coal production by directing the Environment Ministry to grant clearances to 12 projects which would lead to an additional output of 10 million tonnes per year.
The PMO took stock of coal production at a meeting attended by representatives of the Ministries of Coal, Power and Environment and Forests besides officials of the Coal India Limited (CIL). The meeting specifically reviewed the status of 12 projects of the CIL which propose to increase production by 25 per cent. The progress in the matter will be monitored on a monthly basis by the PMO.

The Ministry of tourism today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Railway ministry for implementing Clean India campaign in the Indian Railways to promote the country as a preferred tourist destination overseas. The MoU was signed in the presence of Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahay and Railway Minister Mukul Roy.
Speaking on the ocassion, Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay said, convergence with the Railways is very important for developing tourism within the country and abroad. The human rights organizations in Afghanistan has demanded assurance of the protection of rights of different sections of society including women, internally displaced persons and other vulnerable sections of society ahead of the doners conference on Afghanistan on Sunday. In a press release issued in Kabul yesterday the Amnesty International expressed its concern over the slow progress on human rights front in Afghanistan.
The Amnesty has acknowledged that there have been some improvements like passing of human rights laws, improved rights for women and girls, increased access to education and primary healthcare and the development of a vibrant community of journalists in the past decade, but it warns that these gains are at risk.

The United States has imposed sanctions on six individuals, including Eritrea's spy chief and a senior Eritrean military officer, for aiding Somali militants. A Muslim cleric in Kenya and a Sudanese man are also accused of providing financial and logistical support to the Islamist al-Shabab group. The first meeting of the Joint Committee for Cooperation on the textile and clothing industry between India and Mauritius will be held on the 23rd of this month. The announcement was made during a meeting between Commerce and Industry minister Anand Sharma and the visiting Mauritian minister of Foreign Affairs Arvin Bollel in New Delhi today.
During the meeting, the two ministers agreed to hasten the Preferential Trade Agreement negotiations. They also agreed to deepen economic engagement between the two countries.

India will take on China in the final of the 6th Junior Women Asia Cup Hockey Championship tomorrow. In the semi-final at Bangkok, India beat Japan 2-1 via a golden goal by vice-captain Poonam Rani. In the first semifinal match China beat Korea 3-2. The win also guaranteed India an entry in the FIH Junior Women's World Cup Hockey to be held next year.
