    राज्यपाल श्री जगन्नाथ पहाड़िया ने कहा कि जातिवाद जैसी कुरीतियों से राष्ट्र को बचाना हैं जब तक सारा समाज शिक्षित होकर एकजुट नहीं होता जब तक बाबा साहिब डाक्टर भीमराव अम्बेडकर के सपने को साकार नहीं किया जा सकता। श्री पहाड़िया आज कुरूक्षेत्र के गांव खेड़ी मारकंडा में डा बी आर अम्बेडकर कॉलेज ऑफ एजुकेशन द्वारा डा. भीमराव अम्बेडकर जयंती के राज्यस्तरीय समारोह में बोल रहे थे। इससे पूर्व महामहिम व उनकी धर्मपत्नी श्रीमती शांति पहाड़िया ने कॉलेज परिसर में बहुउद्देशीय हाल का उद्घाटन किया और डा बी आर अम्बेडकर के जीवन पर आयोजित राज्य स्तरीय प्रदर्शनी का अवलोकन भी किया। राज्य के वित्त एवं सिचांई मंत्री श्री कैप्टन अजय सिंह यादव ने आज रेवाड़ी में डाक्टर अम्बेडकर को श्रद्धांसुमन अर्पित किए और कहा उनके जन्म दिवस पर हमें अपने बच्चों को अधिक से अधिक शिक्षित करने का संकल्प करना चाहिए।

    हरियाणा प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी ने आज सविंधान निर्माता डाक्टर भीमराव अम्बेडकर की जयंती के मौके पर चंडीगढ़ सहित प्रदेश में विभिन्न स्थानों पर सम्मान समारोह आयोजित किए और बाबा साहिब को श्रद्धाजंलि भेंट की। हरियाणा कांग्रेस के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष श्री फूल चंद मुलाना ने डाक्टर अम्बेडकर द्वारा दलित वर्ग के उत्थान के लिए दिए गए योगदान को याद करते हुए कहा है कि डाक्टर अम्बेडकर के विचार आज भी प्रासंगिक हैं और युवाओं को उनके पद चिन्हों का अनुसरण करना चाहिए। इस अवसर पर कांग्रेस कमेटी के महासचिव राजेंद्र सिंह सैणी व अन्यों ने भी डाक्टर अम्बेडकर को फूल मालाएं अर्पित कर भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की।

    रोहतक से सांसद दीपेंद्र सिंह हुड्डा ने आज बहादूरगढ़ में बाबा साहिब अम्बेडकर की 120 वीं जयंती पर उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि देने के बाद उपस्थित जनसमूह को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि डाक्टर अम्बेडकर ने देश के संविधान के रूप में जो मजबूत नींव रखी थी उसी के परिणाम स्वरूप देश तेजी से विकसित हो रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि बाबा साहब ने देश के अंतिम व्यक्ति तक को समानता का अधिकार देकर मजबूत किया। उन्होंने कहा कि बाबा साहब ने शिक्षा और संघर्ष करने पर बल दिया और आज भी सत्य है कि शिक्षित हुए बिना कोई भी समाज अथवा देश तरक्की नही कर सकता।

    हरियाणा सरकार इजराईल से नींबू प्रजाति की उन किस्मों का आयात करेगी जो प्रदेश के मौसमी चक्र के लिए उपयुक्त है और इजराईली विशेषज्ञों की सहायता से आम की फसल की उपज बढ़ाने के पर्यत्न भी किए जाएगे। आज एक सरकारी प्रवक्ता ने चंडीगढ़ में बताया कि इजराईल के दौरे पर गए मुख्य मंत्री भूपेंद्र सिंह हुड्डा नींबू प्रजाति के विशेषज्ञों के साथ किब्बूटज रैमट के बगीचे में नींबू प्रजाति की उच्च किस्मों देखकर बहुत प्रभावित हुए है और उन्होंने बागवानी महानिदेशक सत्यवीर सिंह को हरियाणा के लिए उपयुक्त किस्मों का आयात करने को कहा है। श्री हुड्डा ने इजराईल में आम विशेषज्ञ क्लीफ लाइव के साथ आम के बगीचे का दौरा कर आम की अधिक फल देने वाली किस्मों की जानकारी ली है। प्रवक्ता के अनुसार श्री लाइव ने मुख्य मंत्री को उत्तरी हरियाणा के यमुनानगर जिले में आम और लीची को बढ़ावा देने को कहा है। हरियाणा के बागवानी महानिदेशक ने बताया है कि हम फलों के उत्कृष्ट केंद्र के लिए इजराईल से जैतून की चार किस्मों पर प्रयोग कर रहे है और सफल होने के बाद इन किस्मों को हरियाणा के उत्पादकों में भी प्रोत्साहित किया जाएगा।

    मुख्यमंत्री भूपेंद्र सिंह हुड्डा ने आज इजराईल से राज्य कृषि विभाग और जिला उपयुक्तो को निर्देश दिये हैं कि वे किसानों को बी टी कॉटन के बीजों की उपलब्धता सुनिश्चित करायें। श्री हुड्डा ने कहा है कि इन बीजों की पर्याप्त मात्रा उपलब्ध है और किसानों को चिता नहीं करनी चाहिये और राज्य सरकार ने पिछले साल के 23 लाख 50 हजार बीज पैकेटों के मुकाबले इस बार करीब 37 लाख बीज पैकेट का प्रबंध किया है।

    इनेलो सुप्रीमों एवं पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री ओम प्रकाश चौटाला ने कहा है कि प्रदेश के फतेहाबाद में परमाणु संयंत्र लगाने का फैसला पूरी तरह से अव्यवहारिक है। परमाणु प्रबंधन में कुशल जापान भी आज रेडिएशन के रिसाव की समस्या से जूझ रहा है। इसलिए सरकार को जापान से सबक लेकर हरियाणा के भविष्य को सुरक्षित के लिए बिजली के वैकल्पिक स्त्रोंतो पर ध्यान देना चाहिए।

    आज वैशाखी का त्यौहार पूरे प्रदेश में धूमधाम से मनाया गया है। लोगों ने इस अवसर पर गुरूद्वारों, मंदिरों एवं अन्य धार्मिक स्थलों पर जाकर माथा टेका और कटाई के इस मौसम में कुदरत के सहयोग की कामना की। आज कुरूक्षेत्र के गुरूद्वारा छठी पातशाही में भी श्रद्धांलुओं की भीड़ रही। लोगों ने धार्मिक स्थानों पर बने सरवरों के अलावा कुरूक्षेत्र के ब्रहमसरोवर में भी स्नान किया और सर्वमंगल की कामना की। कई जगह फसल पकने की खुशी में लोग नृत्यों का आयोजन भी किया गया। आज वैशाखी के मौके पर शहीदों को भी याद किया गया। नौजवान क्रंातिकारी सेवा दल व अन्य युवा संगठनों ने जलियावाला बाग के शहीदों को भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलियां अर्पित की।

    पलवल जिले के जिन गांवों में कम से कम सौ किसान समर मूंग की खेती करना चाहते है। उन गांवों को मूंग सीड विलेज घोषित किया जाएगा। कृषि विभाग के प्रवक्ता ने बताया है कि ऐसी गांवों में एस एम एल 668 किस्म के बीज पर 50 प्रतिशत अनुदान दिया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया हरियाणा बीज विकास निगम के पलवल बिक्री केंद्र में 1200 क्विंटल बीज का प्रबंध किया गया है जबकि होडल में 300 क्विंटल, हसनपुर में 400 क्विंटल तथा हथीन में 200 क्विंटल बीज का पहुंचा दिया गया है जो किसानों को अनुदान के बाद तय की गई 43 रूपए प्रति किलोग्राम की कीमत पर उपलब्ध होगा। प्रवक्ता ने कहा है कि किसान संबंधित कृषि विकास अधिकारी से अपना परमिट लेकर तुरंत समर मूंग का बीज प्राप्त कर ले ताकि समय पर इस की बिजाई हो सके।

    सिंचाई मंत्री अजय सिंह यादव ने उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार से कहा है कि हरियाणा को यमुनानगर के पानी से पूरा हिस्सा दिया जाय। श्री यादव ने उत्तर प्रदेश के सिंचाई मंत्री नसीमुद्दीन सिद्दीकी को इस संदर्भ में एक पत्र लिखकर कहा है कि यमुना के पानी में हरियाणा का पूरा भाग न मिलने से फरीदाबाद, पलवल, मेवात और गुड़गांव के कई हिस्सों में लोग परेशानी का सामना कर रहे है और इन इलाकों में कृषि उत्पादन भी प्रभावित हो रहा है।

    फरीदाबाद जिले के सभी शहरी एवं ग्रामीण इलाके के 17 पुलिस स्टेशन क्षेत्रों के लिए 17 वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की 4 सदस्यीय टीमों का गठन किया गया है जो प्रदूषण फैलाने वाले , कूड़ा करकट जलाने वाले, पॉलिथिन के प्रयोग करने वाले, नाबालिग बच्चों द्वारा वहान चलाने, अवैध ढंग से जल दोहन करने वाल , पानी का दुरूपयोग करने, ध्वनि प्रदूषण फैलाने वाले तथा बिना हैलमेट के वाहन चलाने वाले लोगों तथा संस्थानों व उद्योगों के खिलाफ मौके पर ही जुर्माना कर सकेंगे।

    गत दिवस यमुनानगर में अलग अलग घटनाओं में दो लोगों की मृत्यु हो गई। पुलिस ने मामला दर्ज कर कार्रवाई शुरू कर दी है। जानकारी के अनुसार एक व्यक्ति ट्राले की चपेट में आकर मर गया जबकि एक अज्ञात महिला की यमुना नहर डूबने से मौत हो गई।

 भारत और कजाखिस्तान आतंकवाद और क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा की चुनौतियों से निपटने के लिए आपसी कानूनी सहायता संधि पर हस्ताक्षर करेंगे। प्रधानमंत्री डॉ० मनमोहन सिंह की आज से शुरू हो रही कजाखिस्तान की दो दिन की यात्रा के दौरान अस्ताना में इस संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किए जाएंगे। प्रधानमंत्री आज शाम अस्ताना पहुंच रहे हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि समझौतों और सहमति पत्रों को अंतिम रूप दिया जा रहा है, जिन पर दोनों देशों के बीच हस्ताक्षर होने हैं।

 ब्रिक्स समूह के देशों-ब्राजील, रूस, भारत, चीन और दक्षिण अफ्रीका ने वैश्विक मौद्रिक प्रणाली के सुधार का आह्‌वान किया है और एक दूसरे को कर्ज या सहायता देने में अपनी मुद्राओं का इस्तेमाल करने के संबंध में समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये हैं। इस सम्मेलन में प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह, चीन के राष्ट्रपति हू चिन्ताओ, ब्राजील के राष्ट्रपति डिलमा रूसेफ, रूस के राष्ट्रपति दिमित्री मेदवेदेव और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के राष्ट्रपति जैकब जूमा ने भाग लिया। सम्मेलन के बाद प्रधानमंत्री डाक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने बताया कि ब्रिक्स देशों ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय राजनीतिक औेर आर्थिक मुद्दों पर मिल-जुलकर काम करने के लिए सदस्य देशों की एक कार्य योजना बनाई है।

 अटॉर्नी जनरल गुलाम वाहनवती, सीबीआई निदेशक ए पी सिंह और विधि सचिव डी आर मीणा आज संसद की लोक लेखा समिति-पी ए सी  के समक्ष पेश हो सकते हैें। वे टू-जी स्पैक्ट्रम आवंटन मामले के बारे में समिति को साक्ष्य उपलब्ध करायेंगे। ऐसी संभावना है कि वरिष्ठ भाजपा नेता मुरली मनोहर जोशी की अध्यक्षता वाली पी ए सी वाहनवती से यूपीए सरकार के दूसरे कार्यकाल के दौरान दूर संचार मंत्रालय को उनके द्वारा दी गई कानूनी राय के बारे में पूछताछ करेगी।
 सीबीआई निदेशक को दूसरी बार पी ए सी के समक्ष हाजिर होने को कहा गया है।  समिति ने कैबिनेट सचिव के एम चंद्रशेखर और प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में प्रधान सचिव टी के ए नायर को कल उपस्थित होने को कहा है।

 लोकपाल विधेयक का मसौदा तैयार करने के लिए नवगठित संयुक्त समिति की पहली बैठक कल होगी। संयुक्त समिति में मंत्रियों और समाज के प्रबुद्ध वर्ग के सदस्यों को शामिल किया गया है। वित्तमंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी को संयुक्त समिति का अध्यक्ष बनाया गया है।
 लोकपाल विधेयक संसद के मानसून सत्र में पेश किए जाने की संभावना है। कल की बैठक से पहले समाज के प्रबुद्ध वर्ग के कार्यकर्ता विधेयक के मसौदे और आगे की रणनीति तैयार करने पर विचार-विमर्श के लिए बैठक कर रहे हैं।

पर्यावरण मंत्री जयराम रमेश ने ओड़ीशा में पास्को परियोजना के लिए पर्यावरण से जुड़ी मंजूरी पर रोक लगा दी है। उन्होंने ओड़ीशा सरकार के इस आश्वासन को नामंजूर कर दिया कि इस क्षेत्र में जनजातियों के कोई समुदाय नहीं हैं। इस जगह ५२ हजार करोड़ रुपए की लागत से इस्पात और बिजली संयंत्र स्थापित किए जाने का प्रस्ताव है।
श्री रमेश ने पास्को प्रतिरोध संघर्ष समिति के सदस्यों से प्राप्त पत्र का हवाला देते हुए कहा कि राज्य सरकार के अधिकारियों ने धिनकिया और गोबिन्दपुर की ग्रामीण परिषदों के प्रस्तावों पर विचार नहीं किया।

 जम्मू-कश्मीर में विधान परिषद् चुनावों में क्रॉस वोटिंग के लिए नैतिक जिम्मेदारी लेते हुए भारतीय जनता पार्टी के ग्यारह विधायकों ने कल रात इस्तीफे दे दिए। भाजपा विधायक मंडल के उप नेता जुगल किशोर शर्मा ने बताया कि विधानसभा अध्यक्ष को सम्बोधित ये त्यागपत्र पार्टी हाईकमान को सौंप दिए गए हैं। श्री शर्मा ने बताया कि भाजपा के ग्यारह में से सात विधायकों ने पार्टी के अधिकृत उम्मीदवार के खिलाफ सत्तारूढ़ नेशनल कांफ्रेंस और कांग्रेस उम्मीदवारों के पक्ष में मतदान किया।
 नेशनल कांफ्रेंस और कांग्रेस गठबंधन ने इस महीने की १३ तारीख को हुए विधान परिषद चुनावों में छह में से पांच सीटें जीती हैं जबकि भाजपा के एकमात्र उम्मीदवार रणजीत सिंह को केवल चार वोट मिले।

 तमिलनाडु में सात और केरल में दो मतदान केन्द्रों पर कल दोबारा वोट डाले जाएंगे। निर्वाचन आयोग के एक अधिकारी ने नई दिल्ली में बताया कि कुछ स्थानों पर इलेक्ट्रोनिक वोटिंग मशीनों में गड़बड़ी और कुछ इलाकों में मामूली झड़पों के कारण इन मतदान केन्द्रों पर फिर से मतदान कराने के आदेश दिए गए हैं। दोनों राज्यों में विधानसभा चुनावों के लिए मतदान इस महीने की तेरह तारीख को कराया गया था।

 उधर, पश्चिम बंगाल में, पहले चरण के विधानसभा चुनाव के लिये, प्रचार अभियान चरम पर है। इस चरण में सोमवार को उत्तर बंगाल के छह जिलों के ५४ निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में वोट डाले जायेंगें। इसके लिये ३६४ उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं। हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष चुनाव कराने के लिये सभी प्रकार के इंतजाम किये जा रहे हैं।

  कांग्रेस नेता अर्जुन सिंह के निधन से खाली हुई मध्यप्रदेश से राज्यसभा की सीट के लिये उपचुनाव अगले महीने की १२ तारीख को कराया जायेगा। इसके लिये निर्वाचन आयोग इस महीने की २५ तारीख को अधिसूचना जारी करेगा।

 केरल में आज नव वर्ष का त्योहार विशू मनाया जा रहा है। अच्छी फसलों की खुशी से जुड़ा यह त्योहार पूरे राज्य में परम्परागत उत्साह के साथ मनाया जा रहा है। तड़के से ही बड़ी संख्या में श्रद्धालु प्रसिद्ध भगवान कृष्ण के गुरूवायूर मंदिर और सबरीमाला में अयप्पा मंदिर में एकत्र हो रहे हैं और खुशहाल नव वर्ष की कामना करते हुए पूजा-अर्चना कर रहे हैं।

 सीरिया के सरकारी टेलीविजन के अनुसार राष्ट्रपति बशर अल असद ने हाल ही में हुए सरकार विरोधी प्रदर्शनों के दौरान गिरफ्तार किये गए सैेंकड़ों लोगों को रिहा करने का आदेश दिया है।
 सीरिया के एक लोकतंत्र समर्थक समूह का कहना है कि लगभग एक महीने पहले सरकार विरोधी प्रदर्शन शुरू होने के बाद से दो सौ से ज्यादा लोग मारे जा चुके हैं। गिरफ्तार लोगों को रिहा करने के सरकार के आदेश को काफी महत्वपूर्ण माना जा रहा है।

 लोकपाल विधेयक का मसौदा तैयार करने के लिए गठिन संयुक्त संसदीय समिति में आम लोगों की ओर से शामिल पांच सदस्यों द्वारा आज अपनी संपत्ति और देनदारी का ब्यौरा घोषित किए जाने का समाचार आज के अनेक समाचार पत्रों में है।
 पाक जाने से सहमे खिलाड़ी- हिंदुस्तान की बड़ी खबर है। पत्र लिखता है कि एक ओर जहां भारत सरकार पाकिस्तान के साथ संबंध सुधारने के लिए क्रिकेट कूटनीति के तहत दोनों देशों के बीच क्रिकेट श्रृंखला का सहारा लेने की सोच रही है वहीं दूसरी ओर खिलाड़ी पाकिस्तान यात्रा से हिचकिचा रहे हैं।

India and Kazakhstan will sign six agreements during the two-day official visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to Astana  beginning today. These include treaties on Mutual Legal Assistance, gas sharing,  civil nuclear cooperation and cooperation in the fields of Agriculture and Information Technology. Dr Manmohan Singh  is arriving in Astana this evening after participating in the BRICS summit at Sanya in China. The  Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty will address regional security and the menace of terrorism. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio News Service Division, Indian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Ashok Kumar Sharma said Kazakhstan has agreed to share 25 percent of the gas produced by Satpayev oil basin in the Caspian sea. A final agreement will be signed between ONGC and the Kazak oil company Kazmunay Gas in the presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Kazak President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

AIR correspondent reports finishing touches are being given to the Agreements and MoUs which are to be signed between the two countries.

Diplomats from both the countries have given finishing touch to the Agreements and MoUs being signed at Astana. The Inter Governmental Agreement in the field of civil nuclear cooperation, agreements for mutual cooperation in the field of Agriculture and Information Technology would also be signed. Both countries would sign a MoU with a road map to sort out pending issues between New Delhi and Astana in a time frame manner. A joint statement will also be released at the end of the visit. Dr. Manmohan Singh is first dignitary visiting Astana after reelection of President Nazarbayev with thumping majority on 3rd of this month.

Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - the BRICS group of countries have called for a revamp in the global monetary system and signed a pact to use their own currencies in issuing credit or grants to each other. The path-breaking agreement was signed at the 3rd BRICS summit at Sanya attended by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Presidents Hu Jintao of China, Dilma Rousseff of Brazil, Dmitry Medvedev of Russia and Jacob Zuma of South Africa. BRICS nations  also pledged their support for India’s quest for a permanent membership to the UN security council.

Issues of common concern between the BRICS countries were discussed so as to deepen cooperation among the emerging economies. During the visit, Prime minister Dr.Manmohan singh had bilateral meeting with China,s President Hu Jintao, and India and China decided to set up a mechanism to address irritants on the boarder besides resuming the high level deffence exchanges. In the meeting with the Russian President the discussions centered on the nuclear safety apart from further intensifying partnership in the Hydro Carbon sector. The focus of discussion with Brazil and south Africa remained on enhancing trade. Opposing protectionism and seeking a rule-based multilateral trading system, India and other countries pushed for a "comprehensive and balanced" conclusion of the Doha round of trade talks that addresses the development agenda effectively. India, along with China, Brazil and South Africa, also advocated the case of Russia's early accession to the World Trade Organisation. at the end of the BRICS summit a pact was signed paving the way for use their own currencies in issuing credit or grants to each other.

Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh has  put on hold forest clearance to the Posco project in Odisha. He rejected the Odisha government's assurance that there are no tribals in the area, where the  52,000 crore rupee steel-cum-captive power plant is to come up.

Ramesh cited the letter from members of the POSCO Pratirodh Sangharsh Committee, PPSC which says that village council resolutions of Dhinkia and Gobindapur  villages have not been considered by the state government authorities.

He added that he had already forwarded the PPSC representation to the Odisha Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary and he believed that these two resolutions have to be disposed of by the appropriate authority in accordance with the Forest Rights Act, 2006.

Attorney General Goolam Vahanvati, CBI Director A P Singh and Law Secretary D R Meena are expected to appear before the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee, PAC, today. They will provide evidence in the probe into the 2G spectrum allocation scam to the Committee. The PAC, chaired by senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, is likely to quiz Vahanvati about the legal opinions he may have given to the Telecom Ministry, when he was Solicitor General in  the last UPA government. The Attorney General has been made a witness by the CBI in its chargesheet filed before the special court in the 2G scam.

The CBI director has been asked to appear before the PAC for the second time.

The Committee has also called Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar and Principal Secretary in the PMO T K A Nair to depose before it tomorrow.

In Jammu and Kashmir all the 11 BJP MLAs submitted their resignations to senior central party leaders owning moral responsibility for cross voting in the Legislative Council elections which were held on April 13. AIR correspondent reports that the resignations were submitted on the directions of the party high command.

Turning tough against the party MLAs, the BJP high command sought resignation from all party MLAs for violating the party whip and creating indiscipline with seven of them indulging in cross-voting for National Conference and Congress candidates. According to BJP sources , the BJP high command has also decided to revamp its State unit to maintain discipline and send a tough message to those who indulge in indisciplinary activities in the party .It may be recalled that seven BJP MLAs cast their votes in favour of NC and Congress candidates in Legislative Council elections yesterday by defying the Party whip which resulted in the humiliation of their official candidate.

The star campaigner of the major political parties hit the campaign trail in north Bengal.  The AICC President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi will address a number of election rallies in Jalpaiguri and Malda districts today.  The AICC General Secretary Mr. Rahul Gandhi took part in election rallies at several places in North Bengal yesterday.  The BJP President Mr. Nitin Gadkari addressed election rallies in Siliguri.  The Trinamool Congress Chief Ms. Mamta Banerjee also took part in election rallies for her party nominees in Siliguri.  On the other hand ruling CPIM State Secretary, Mr. Biman Basu campaigned at South Dinajpur district.  In the election rallies opposition and ruling parties are making allegation and counter allegation mainly centering on development in North Bengal.

Britain and France have called for  more contribution from NATO countries to carry out air strikes against  Colonel Gaddafi's forces in Libya.  At a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Berlin, the United  States indicated it will continue to play a supporting role despite appeals to get more active against Libya.  The position was later restated by the White House spokesman.

Spain meanwhile said, it had no plans to take  part in ground attacks and Italy said, it needed to hear convincing arguments to do so.

Syrian State Television says, President Basher  al-Assad  has ordered the release of hundreds of people detained during the recent  anti-Government protests. Reports say, only those involved in what was described as criminal acts, would remain under detention.

Ever since the anti-Government protests broke out  about a month ago,  Syria's pro-democracy groups say, more than  two hundred people have been killed. The Government's decision to free many of those arrested recently is being seen as an important concession.

The Tokyo Electric Power Company says it is still difficult to determine when the work to restore reactor cooling systems at the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power facility will begin. It said more time is needed to install makeshift water tanks in order to contain the highly radioactive water used to cool the reactors. The contaminated water has pooled inside turbine buildings and tunnels, hampering efforts to restore reactor cooling systems.

Commonwealth Games bronze winner Sanjeev Rajput has become the third Indian marksman to book a berth for the London Olympics.  Sanjeev qualified for the 2012 Olympics yesterday after clinching the gold medal at the 50 metre Rifle 3 Positions Men Final at the shooting World Cup in Changwon, Korea. Sanjeev won the gold, beating Serbian Nemanja Mirosavljev and Ole Kristian Bryhn of Norway.

The conclusion of the BRICS summit of the world's five major emerging economies in China is widely reported with most papers focussing on China's backing for a greater role for India at the UN.

Relief coming in for athlete Arunima Sinha, who lost a leg after being thrown off a moving train, is the highlight on the front pages of many papers. "Railway job, aid for Arunima" reports the Hindustan Times. Describing this as a `cover-up job', the Mail Today writes about the Railway offer in these words "promises her employment but passes the buck over security on trains to states". Meanwhile the Hindu informs that the Prime Minister had called for a report from the Railways on the volleyball player.

Most papers take note of lobbyist Nira Radia's deposition before the CBI in the 2G spectrum allocation scam, focussing specially on her revelation about  Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar's alleged links with scam accused Shahid Balwa's company DB Realty. "Radia links Pawar to DB Realty, minister rubbishes report" says the Tribune. The Mail Today reports Radia as saying former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran had scuttled the TATA groups CDMA license bid.

In a special front page story, the Pioneer writes that according to a report by India's intelligence agency RAW, Pakistan's official currency printing press in Karachi has set up a full fledged unit for printing high quality Fake Indian Currency Notes.

ब्रिक्स संगठन के देश-भारत, चीन, ब्राजील, रूस, और दक्षिण अफ्रीका आर्थिक और मौद्रिक सहयोग बढ़ायेंगे। इसके तहत ये देश एक दूसरे को स्थानीय मुद्राओं में +ऋण उपलब्ध करायेंगे और पूंजी बाजार तथा अन्य वित्तीय सेवाओं में सहयोग करेंगें। चीन के शहर सान्या में ब्रिक्स देशों के शिखर सम्मेलन के अंत में सदस्य देशों के अधिकृत बैंकों ने इस बारे में समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये। संगठन ने संयुक्तराष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद में भारत की स्थायी सदस्यता के दावे का समर्थन किया। इसके अलावा जापान में त्सुनामी के बाद विकिरण के खतरे के मद्देनजर परमाणु संयंत्रों में सुरक्षा मानको को मजबूत करने पर भी जोर दिया गया।
शिखर सम्मेलन के अंत में जारी घोषणा पत्र में पश्चिम एशिया और उत्तर अफ्रीका के हालात पर चिंता व्यक्त की गई। शिखर बैठक में लीबिया में सैन्य बल के इस्तेमाल का विरोध किया गया। शांतिपूर्ण तरीके से, संयुक्त राष्ट्र तथा क्षेत्रीय संगठनों के साथ बातचीत से समस्या के समाधान की बात कही गयी है।
सम्मेलन के बाद प्रधानमंत्री डाक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने बताया कि ब्रिक्स देशों ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय राजनीतिक औेर आर्थिक मुद्दों पर मिल-जुलकर काम करने के लिए सदस्य देशों की एक कार्य योजना बनाई है।

हमने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय परिस्थितियों आर्थिक, वित्त और व्यापार के जैसे मुद्दों के अलावा स्थायी विकास, खाद्य सुरक्षा और जलवायु परिवर्तन चुनौतियों पर विचार विमर्श किया। हमने सान्या घोषणा पत्र को स्वीकार किया और सदस्य देशों के बीच सहयोग बढ़ाने के लिए एक कार्य योजना बनाई है।
डाक्टर सिंह ने कहा कि सदस्य देशों की अखंडता, संप्रभुता और क्षेत्रीय एकता तथा स्वतंत्रता जैसे मुद्दों पर संगठन के देशों में एक राय थी। उन्होंने कहा कि इससे उन्हें काफी बल मिला है। प्रधानमंत्री के साथ गईं हमारी संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि ब्रिक्स देशों की आज की बैठक में कई महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय किए गये।

ब्राजील के राष्ट्रपति के साथ मुलाकात में डॉ० मनमोहन सिंह ने ऊर्जा क्षेत्र में सहयोग के बारे में चर्चा की। इससे पहले चीन के राष्ट्रपति से बातचीत में रक्षा के क्षेत्र में उच्चस्तरीय सहयोग बहाल करने का फैसला किया गया। इसके अलावा पहले किए गये समझौतों के अनुसार सीमा पर तनाव खत्म करने की व्यवस्था बनाने पर भी सहमति बनी।
डॉ० मनमोहन सिंह की रूस के राष्ट्रपति के साथ मुलाकात में हाइड्रो कार्बन क्षेत्र में सहयोग बढ़ाने और परमाणु सुरक्षा मानकों पर ध्यान देने का फैसला किया गया।
प्रधानमंत्री अपनी यात्रा के पहले चरण में चीन की सफल यात्रा पूरी करने के बाद कल कजाकिस्तान की राजधानी अस्ताना जायेंगे। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि दो दिन की इस यात्रा के दौरान वे राष्ट्रपति नूर सुलतान नजरबायेब और अल कजाक-नेताओं से असैन्य परमाणु ऊर्जा सहयोग, कृषि और व्यापार सहित विभिन्न मुद्दों पर बातचीत करेंगे।

भारत में, सभी परमाणु संयंत्रों में जल्द कुछ और सुरक्षा उपाय किये जा सकते हैं। रिएक्टरों को गरम होने से बचाने के लिये उनमें अधिक पानी जमा करने के और उपाय किये जायेंगे। भारतीय परमाणु ऊर्जा निगम लिमिटेड के अनुसार हालांकि देश के परमाणु ऊर्जा संयंत्र जापान के परमाणु संयंत्रों में पैदा हुए संकट की स्थिति से निपटने के लिये पूरी तरह सक्षम हैं लेकिन फिर भी इनमें अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा व्यवस्था की जा रही है। भारत के सभी परमाणु रिएक्टरों की आंतरिक सुरक्षा जांच के बाद चार कार्यदलों द्वारा दी गई रिपोर्ट के आधार पर यह व्यवस्था की जा रही है। निगम ने जापान के फुकुशिमा परमाणु संयंत्र संकट के बाद ये कार्यदल बनाये थे।

पश्चिम बंगाल में, पहले चरण के विधानसभा चुनाव के लिये, प्रचार अभियान चरम पर है। इस चरण में सोमवार को उत्तर बंगाल के छह जिलों के ५४ निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में वोट डाले जायेंगें। इसके लिये ३६४ उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं। हमारे दार्जिलिंग संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष चुनाव कराने के लिये सभी प्रकार के इंतजाम किये जा रहे हैं।

दार्जिलिंग जिले के चुनाव अधिकारी जिला में एक साथ ही एक हजार सात सौ पच्चीस मतदान केन्द्रों पर कड़ा नजर रखे हुए है। क्योंकि इनमें से अधिकतर मतदान केन्द्रों को संवेदनशील केन्द्र के रूप में चिन्हित किया गया है। इन मतदान केन्द्रों पर अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा बल के जवानों को लगाने का निर्णय लिया गया है। इसी बीच मतदान कर्मचारियों को उनके निर्धारित मतदान केन्द्रों पर भेजने के लिए तैयारियां की जा रही हैं। जो कि दार्जिलिंग जिले के १४ ऐसे मतदान केन्द्र हैं जो दुर्गम इलाकों में स्थापित की गई हैं। जहां चुनाव कर्मी मतदान से दो दिन पूर्व मुख्यालय से रवाना होते हैं। आकावाणी समाचार के लिए एस बी सोनवार जलपाईगुड़ी।

जलपाईगुड़ी में एक चुनावी सभा में कांग्रेस नेता प्रणव मुखर्जी ने कहा है कि केन्द्र ने भारत-बंगलादेश सीमा पर भारतीय बस्तियों की समस्याओं को हल करने के समाधान के लिये कदम उठाये हैं। ।
श्री मुखर्जी ने कहा कि केन्द्र ने इन बस्तियों के निवासियों की विभिन्न समस्याओं जैसे जल, सड़क, बिजली, स्कूल, दवाईयां और अपराध को दूर करने के लिये कई विकासशील कदम उठाये हैं।

निर्वाचन आयोग ने तमिलनाडु में सात और केरल में दो मतदान केंद्रों पर पुनर्मतदान का आदेश दिया है। पुनर्मतदान शनिवार को होगा। नई दिल्ली में निर्वाचन आयोग के एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि कुछ जगहों में इलेक्ट्रोनिक वोटिंग मशीनों में गडबडी और कुछ छोटी मोटी घटनाओं के कारण पुनर्मतदान का आदेश दिया गया है।

कांग्रेस नेता अर्जुन सिंह के निधन से खाली हुई मध्यप्रदेश से राज्यसभा की सीट के लिये उपचुनाव १२ मई को कराया जायेगा। इसके लिये निर्वाचन आयोग २५ अपै्रल को अधिसूचना जारी करेगा।

टू जी स्पेक्ट्रम आबंटन मामले की जांच में सबूत देने के लिए अटार्नी जनरल, जी० ई वाहनवती, सी बी आई निदेशक, ए पी सिंह और विधि सचिव, डी आर मीणा के कल संसद की लोक लेखा समिति के सामने पेश होने की संभावना है। इस समिति के अध्यक्ष भाजपा नेता डा० मुरली मनोहर जोशी हैं। सी बी आई के निदेशक को दूसरी बार लोक लेखा समिति के सामने पेश होने को कहा गया है। इससे पहले श्री सिंह १५ फरवरी को समिति के सामने पेश हुए थे। समिति ने मंत्रिमंडल सचिव के० एम० चन्द्रशेखर और प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में प्रधान सचिव टी० के० ए० नैय्‌यर को भी शनिवार को पेश होने को कहा है।

लोकपाल विधेयक का मसौदा तैयार करने के लिए नवगठित संयुक्त समिति की पहली बैठक शनिवार को होगी। बैठक की अध्यक्षता समिति के अध्यक्ष वित्त मंत्री प्रणव मुखर्जी करेंगे। समिति में गृह मंत्री पी० चिदम्बरम, विधि मंत्री वीरप्पा मोइली, मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल और जल संसाधन मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद सरकार का प्रतिनिधित्व करेंगें। प्रबुद्ध नागरिक की ओर से अन्ना हजारे, सुप्रीम कोर्ट के पूर्व न्यायाधीश एन० संतोष हेगड़े, पूर्व विधि मंत्री शान्ति भूषण., वकील प्रशान्त भूषण और आर टी आई कार्यकर्ता अरविन्द केजरीवाल प्रतिनिधित्व करेंगे। संसद के मानसून सत्र में इस आशय का विधेयक पेश होने की संभावना है।

ओड़ीशा सरकार ने राज्य के आई०ए०एस० अधिकारियों और ओड़ीशा प्रशासनिक सेवा के सभी अधिकारियों से कहा है कि वे अपनी अचल सम्पत्ति का ब्यौरा अगले सप्ताह बुधवार तक जमा करें। सरकार द्वारा जारी परिपत्र में कहा गया है कि जो अधिकारी अपनी अचल सम्पत्ति का ब्यौरा नहीं देंगे उनका विजिलेंस क्लीयरेंस और पदोन्नति रोक दी जायेगी।

India and 4 other BRICS group of nations -  China, Russia, Brazil and South Africa will provide credit to each other in local currencies and collaborate in capital market and other financial services. The major agreement was signed today by the designated banks of the five countries at the conclusion of third BRICS Summit in the port city of Sanya in China. The group voicing its opposition to use of force in Libya, expressing support to India's claim for a permanent membership in the UN security council and pressing for strict adherence to safety norms for nuclear facilities  following worldwide alarm over a radiation scare in Jtsunami hit Japan are the highlights of the out come of the summit . The summit was attended by Prime Minster Dr.Manmohan Singh, Chinese President Hu Jintao, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and South African President Jacob Zuma. The declaration adopted at the end of the Summit supports a broad based international reserve currency to provide stability and security to the system. Secretary East in the Ministry of External Affairs Manbir Singh said that a contact group is also being established to intensify business cooperation among the member countries. The declaration expressed concern over the impact of developments in West Asia and North Africa. The summit meeting discussed the issue of Libya and voiced opposition to use of force. The member countries vowed to coordinate their positions on global political and economic issues. Addressing the joint media briefing after the Summit, Prime Minster Dr. Manmohan Singh said the leaders reviewed the international situation, discussed international economic, financial and trade issues, the challenges of sustainable development, food, energy security and climate change. Dr. Singh said that he was deeply encouraged by the consensus among the group on the need for an international order that is rule based and respects the unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of individual States.

Earlier, addressing the Summit, Dr. Manmohan Singh said the challenge before the BRICS countries is to harness the vast potential that exists among them as all are rich in resources, material and human. He said India stood ready to work with other BRICS countries to realize these goals.    Amid worldwide alarm over a radiation scare in Japan following the tsunami, India and other BRICS nations also  pressed for strict adherence to safety norms for nuclear facilities. They also floated a proposal for mutual assistance in similar incidents. On the sidelines of the summit Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today held discussions with the heads of the states of South Africa and Brazil. Official sources said that intensifying strategic cooperation remained the focus of talks with Brazilian President Dilma Vana Roussef and his South African Counter part Jacob Zuma. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will be reaching Astana capital of Kazakhstan tomorrow on a two day official visit on the invitation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev. He will have bilateral talks with Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his counter part Karim Massimov in Astana on several issues including energy security civil nuclear cooperation, Agriculture, IT and Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty to address the menace of terrorism and regional security.     In an exclusive interview Indian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Ashok Kumar Sharma told our correspondent covering PM visit to Astana that Kazakhstan has agreed to share 25 percent gas produced from Satpayev oil basin in Caspian see. Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee says,  the Centre has taken an initiative to solve problems facing Indian enclaves on the Indo-Bangladesh border.  Mukherjee said residents of the enclaves of both the countries had been complaining of lack of facilities for a long time.  While India has about 92 Bangladesh enclaves on its territory, 106 Indian enclaves are on Bangladeshi soil.  Addressing an election meeting at Satkura on the India-Bangladesh border in Jalpaiguri district, Mukherjee said the number of unemployed in West Bengal had jumped four fold since 1977 when the Left Front came to power. He said it was 16 lakh in 1977 and  70 lakh now.

The Election Commission has ordered repoll in seven polling stations in Tamil Nadu and two in Kerala. The repoll will take place on Saturday. An Election Commission official said in New Delhi that the repoll has been ordered because of malfunctioning of Electronic Voting Machines in some places and minor skirmishes in certain areas.

All  nuclear power plants in India may soon get some additional safety features. There will be more provisions to add water to the reactors to deal with over heating of the core, a condition that led to the Fukushima nuclear accident. While maintaining that India's nuclear power plants are capable of handling Japan's nuclear crisis like scenario , Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited -NPCIL has come out with the additional measures. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Chairman and Managing Director of NPCIL, Shreyans Kumar Jain said that these measures are being taken on the reports given by the four taskforces after an internal safety assessment of all nuclear reactors. The  task forces were appointed by NPCIL following the Fukushima nuclear accident.

Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh has  put on hold forest clearance to the Posco project in Odisha. He has rejected Orissa government's assurance that there are no tribals in the area, where the  52,000 crore rupee steel-cum-captive power plant is to come up. Ramesh cited the letter from members of POSCO Pratirodh Sangharsh Committee that village council resolutions of Dhinkia and Gobindapur  have not been considered by the  state government authorities.

The Sports Ministry has announced an additional two lakh rupees for medical treatment of the national level football and volleyball player Sonu Sinha. The Railways has assured her a job. The Railway Board Chairman Vivek Sahai said that they will bear all medical expenses and extend all help for Sinha's rehabilitation.

Sinha was pushed out of a moving train near Bareily in UP on Monday night by some men who tried to rob her. The Sports Ministry had earlier announced an ex gratia payment of 25 thousand rupees.

    भय, भ्रष्टाचार, महंगाई तथा महिलाओं के खिलाफ बढ़ते अपराधों के विरोध में भारतीय जनता पार्टी महिला मोर्चा हरियाणा द्वारा जनचेतना यात्रा का शुभारंभ गुरुवार को कस्बा ओढ़ां से महिला मोर्चा की प्रदेशाध्यक्ष रेणु शर्मा द्वारा किया गया। ओढ़ां में जी.टी रोड पर स्थित श्रीहनुमान मंदिर में एक सभा को संबोधित करते हुए हरियाणा महिला मोर्चा की प्रदेशाध्यक्ष रेणु शर्मा ने कहा कि आज डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर जयंती व वैशाखी के अवसर पर भाजपा ने कांग्रेस की केंद्र व राज्य सरकार की दमनकारी, जनविरोधी एंव आम आदमी के लिये अहितकारी नीतियों के खिलाफ जनता को लामबंद करने के लिये भाजपा महिला मोर्चा ने पूरे देश में जन—जागरण अभियान चलाने का निर्णय लिया है।
    उन्होंने कहा कि जनचेतना यात्रा के तहत वे प्रत्येक शहर व गांव में जाकर सरकार की दमनकारी नीतियों, घोटालों व महंगाई के विरूद्ध जनता को जागरूक करेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि आज ऊपर से लेकर नीचे तक भ्रष्टाचार का बोलबाला है और राजनेता दोनों हाथों से देश को लुटने में लगे हुए हैं तथा कालाबाजारी, मिलावट व घोटालों का जोर है। किसान खाद व बीज के लिए, महिलाएं रसोई गैस के लिए और बीपीएल परिवार कैरोसीन तेल के लिए मारे मारे फिर रहे हैं लेकिन सरकार इन मुद्दों से दूर बड़े बड़े घोटालों जैसे टू-जी स्पैक्ट्रम, कॉमन वैल्थ, आदर्श हाउसिंग सोसाईटी, ईसरो घोटाला तथा भूमि अधिग्रहण के नाम पर चल रहे अरबों रुपए के खेल में लगी हुई है। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार की गलत वित्तीय नीतियों के कारण प्रदेश पर करोड़ों रुपए का कर्ज चढ़ गया है और ब्याज की किश्त उतारने के लिए वर्तमान सरकार को कोई भी कर्ज देने को तैयार नहीं है।
    उन्होंने आगे कहा कि यूपीए की अध्यक्षा सोनिया गांधी और प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह के मंत्री तक व्यापक स्तर पर भ्रष्टाचार और घोटालों में शामिल पाए गए हैं जिस कारण देश की जनता का केंद्र सरकार से मोह भंग हो चुका है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री अटल बिहारी के नेतृत्व में भाजपा की सरकार के समय हर वर्ग के लोग खुश थे, सरकार ने महंगाई व भ्रष्टाचार पर अंकुश लगा रखा था और किसी भी मंत्री पर कोई ऊंगली नहीं उठी थी जबकि वर्तमान सरकार देश व प्रदेश को दोनों हाथों से लूटने में लगी हुई है। इस सभा को महिला मोर्चा की जिलाध्यक्ष किफायत यादव, महासचिव सरला शर्मा, भाजपा के जिलाध्यक्ष गुरदेव सिंह राही, उपाध्यक्ष बलदेव सिंह मांगेआना, जिला महासचिव सतीश जग्गा, एस.डी कपूर, रामजी लाल भाटिया, डॉ. भीम शर्मा, सुरेश पंवार, दाताराम बसौड़, कृष्ण ग्रोवर और कर्मजीत सिंह आदि ने भी संबोधित किया।
