नई दिल्ली में जंतर-मंतर पर जारी आमरण अनशन में कल बड़ी संख्या में लोग शामिल हुए और भ्रष्टाचार निरोधी अभियान का समर्थन किया।
समिति ने कैबिनेट सचिव के.एम. चन्द्रशेखर, प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में प्रधान सचिव टी.के.ए. नायर और सीबीआई निदेशक ए.पी. सिंह से इस महीने की १५ और १६ तारीख को उपस्थित होने के लिए कहा है।
अधिकारिक सूत्रों के अनुसार श्री वाहनवटी, श्री ए.पी.सिंह और श्री मीणा लोक-लेखा समिति के समक्ष १५ अप्रैल को पेश होंगे जबकि श्री चंद्रशेखर और श्री नायर अगले दिन १६ अप्रैल को समिति के सामने जाएंगे।
तीस सदस्यों वाली जेपीसी को संसद के अगले सत्र तक अपनी रिपोर्ट देने को कहा गया है। संसद के दोनों सदनों में लंबे गतिरोध के बाद पिछले महीने समिति का गठन किया गया था।
परिवार कल्याण विभाग में काम कर रहे मुख्य चिकित्सा अधिकारी डॉक्टर बी.पी. सिंह की दो अप्रैल को गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी गई थी।
उत्तर प्रदेश में दोनों मंत्रियों का इस्तीफा लखनऊ के मुख्य चिकित्सा अधिकारी परिवार कल्याण डॉक्टर वी पी सिंह की हत्या का दुषपरिणाम है। दोनों ही मंत्री, मुख्यमंत्री मायावती और उत्तर प्रदेश विधानपरिषद के प्रमुख सतीश मिश्रा के अत्यंत करीबी माने जाते हैं। सरकार ने परिवार कल्याण विभाग के सचिव प्रदीप शुक्ला और लखनऊ की मुख्य चिकित्सा अधिकारी को भी हटा दिया है। सरकार ने पिछले वर्ष मई में सचिव मुख्य चिकित्सा अधिकारी परिवार कल्याण के पद को भी समाप्त कर दिया है और इसके पूर्व की व्यवस्था बहाल कर दी है। जिसमें मुख्य चिकित्सा अधिकारी ही अब परिवार कल्याण विभाग का कामकाज भी देखेंगे। राज्य के सभी प्रमुख विपक्षी दलों ने दोनों मंत्रियों के इस्तीफे को नाटक की संज्ञा दी है और कहा है कि इस हत्याकांड की असलियत सीबीआई जांच से ही सामने आ सकती है। उन्होंने राज्य में बिगड़ती कानून व्यवस्था की नैतिक जिम्मेदारी लेते हुए मुख्यमंत्री मायावती की इस्तीफे की मांग की है।

इस बीच, बराक घाटी के छह विधानसभा क्षेत्रों के दस मतदान केन्द्रों पर कल हुए पुर्नमतदान में करीब ६१ प्रतिशत वोट डाले गए। इन मतदान केन्द्रों पर पहले चरण के तहत इस महीने की चार तारीख को वोट डाले गए थे।
पश्चिम बंगाल में विधानसभा चुनाव के चौथे चरण के लिए अधिसूचना जारी होने के साथ ही कल नामांकन पत्र भरने का काम श्ुारू हो गया। इस चरण में ६३ सीटों के लिए तीन मई को वोट डाले जाएंगे।

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने दिल्ली, पंजाब और उत्तर प्रदेश सरकारों को वाहनों के नंबर प्लेट में गड़बड़ी पाये जाने और लाइसेंस के मामले में अदालत के आदेश की अवमानना पर नोटिस जारी किए हैं। अदालत ने कहा है कि न्यायिक सम्मान के लिए आदेशों का पालन करना जरूरी है।अदालत के आदेशों का पालन न किए जाने पर प्रधान न्यायाधीश एस. एच. कपाड़िया की खंडपीठ ने कड़ा रूख व्यक्त किया। अदालत ने राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों से आदेश का पालन न करने वाले अधिकारियों को व्यक्तिगत रूप से न्यायालय में उपस्थित होने को कहा है।

The government will hold another round of talks today with the representatives of Social activist Anna Hazare to finalise the modalities for constitution of a committee to draft an anti corruption Lokpal Bill. Talks between the government and civil society leaders remained inconclusive yesterday due to differences on some issues. Speaking to reporters after the second round of talks, government's representative and Union Minister Kapil Sibal said, differences persist about the setting up of joint committee.
From the side of civil society, Anna Hazare should be the Chairman of the Joint Drafting Committee & the second demand is that there should be an official notification in respect of the constitution of the committee. On these two issues there is no agreement so far, we need some more time.
Mr Sibal appealed to Mr Hazare to break his fast-unto-death.
UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has also appealed to Mr Hazare to give up his fast saying that she was sure that his views will receive the government's full attention in the fight against corruption. Reacting to Mrs. Gandhi's appeal Mr Hazare requested the UPA Chairperson to ask the government to get the Lokpal bill enacted at the earliest.
Arvind Kejrewal and Swami Agnivesh, who represented civil society leaders in the talks, said that they want a formal notification by the government about the constitution of the committee. The Supreme Court has issued contempt notices to Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh governments for their failure to implement its order on tamper-proof number plates and licences for vehicles. The Apex court said obedience of its direction is necessary for judicial integrity. Hundreds of thousands of Colombians have joined street demonstrations against the policies of President Juan Manuel Santos. Students and lecturers protesting against proposed university reforms were joined by trade unionists demanding improved conditions.
