 असम में कांग्रेस के सभी नवनिर्वाचित ७८ विधायकों की आज दिसपुर में बैठक हो रही है जिसमें वे विधानसभा में अपने नेता का चुनाव करेंगे। सरकारी सूत्रों ने बताया है कि बैठक असम विधानसभा के सेंट्रल हॉल में दोपहर एक बजे होगी। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि इस बैठक में केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी और कांग्रेस महासचिव तथा असम के प्रभारी दिग्विजय सिंह मौजूद रहेंगे।

 कांग्रेस विधायकों की आज होने वाली बैठक में वर्तमान मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई को असम विधानसभा का नेता चुने जाने की औपचारिक घोषणा की जाएगी। श्री गोगोई कल गुवाहाटी में राजभवन के दरबार हॉल में शपथ ग्रहण करेंगे। हाल ही में हुए विधानसभा चुनाव में कांग्रेस पार्टी ने १२६ सीटों में से ७८ सीटें जीत कर पूर्ण बहुमत हासिल किया है। वोडोलैंड पीपुल्स फ्रंट ने १२ सीटें जीती हैं और उसने कांग्रेस पार्टी को बिना किसी शर्त के अपना समर्थन देने की घोषणा की है। गुवाहाटी से रमणिकांत शर्मा की रिपोर्ट के साथ दिल्ली से प्रियंका अरोड़ा आकाशवाणी समाचार।

 तृणमूल कांग्रेस प्रमुख सुश्री ममता बनर्जी शुक्रवार को पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में शपथ लेगीं। उन्हें राज्यपाल एम के नारायणन्‌ ने राज्य में नई सरकार बनाने का निमंत्रण दिया है। इससे पहले कल सुश्री ममता  बनर्जी को तृणमूल कांगे्रस विधायक दल का नेता चुना गया। राज्य में हाल में हुए विधानसभा चुनाव में तृणमूल कांगे्रस और कांग्रेस गठबंधन ने शानदान प्रदर्शन करते हुए २९४ में से २२० सीटें जीतीं और ३४ साल से सत्ता पर काबिज वामपंथी सरकार को बाहर कर दिया।
 सुश्री बनर्जी ने कल नई दिल्ली में प्रधानमंत्री डॉ मनमोहन सिंह और कांगे्रस अध्यक्ष श्रीमती सोनियां गांधी से मुलाकात की और कांग्रेस पार्टी को पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार में शामिल होने का न्योता दिया। उन्होंने दोनों नेताओं को शपथ ग्रहण समारोह में शामिल होने का निमंत्रण भी दिया।

 तमिलनाडु में सुश्री जयललिता ने  मुख्यमंत्री का कार्यभार संभालने के पहले दिन ही राज्य में बड़ा प्रशासनिक फेरबदल करते हुए मुख्य सचिव, गृहसचिव और चेन्नई के पुलिस आयुक्त को बदल दिया है। चेन्नई में जारी सरकारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार तमिलनाडु औद्योगिक विकास निगम के अध्यक्ष देवेन्द्रनाथ सारंग को  एस मालती के स्थान पर मुख्य सचिव नियुक्त किया गया है। सुश्री शीला रानी चुनकट को के ज्ञानदेशिकन की जगह नया गृहसचिव बनाया गया है, जबकि टी राजेन्द्रन के स्थान पर जे के त्रिपाठी चेन्नई के नये पुलिस आयुक्त होंगे।

 इससे पहले ऑल इंडिया अन्ना डी एम के प्रमुख जयललिता को कल तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री पद की शपथ दिलाई गई। मद्रास विश्वविद्यालय के सेन्टेनरी सभागार में तमिलनाडु के राज्यपाल सुरजीत सिंह बरनाला ने उन्हें पद और गोपनीयता की शपथ दिलाई। उनके साथ उनके मंत्रिमंडल के ३३ मंत्रियों ने भी शपथ ली।
 उधर, ऑल इंडिया एन आर कांगे्रस के अध्यक्ष रंगासामी ने भी कल संघ शासित प्रदेश पुदुचेरी के मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ली।

 भारतीय जनता पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता लालकृष्ण आडवाणी के नेतृत्व में राष्ट्रीय लोकतांत्रिक गठबंधन- एनडीए के प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने कल नई दिल्ली में प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह से मुलाकात की और कर्नाटक के राज्यपाल एच आर भारद्वाज को वापस बुलाने की मांग की। एनडीए ने श्री भारद्वाज पर असंवैधानिक कार्रवाईयां करने का आरोप लगाया है। बाद में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में श्री आडवाणी ने कहा कि उन्होंने कर्नाटक में राष्ट्रपति शासन लागू करने के बारे में राज्यपाल की कथित सिफारिश को नामंजूर करने की भी प्रधानमंत्री से मांग की।

 हमने प्रधानमंत्री को कहा राष्ट्रपति शासन को लेकर के निर्णय राज्यपाल को नहीं करना है असेंबली को ही निर्णय करना है। बहुमत से निर्णय करना है। अगर उन्होंने यह सिफारिश भेजी है तो इट शुड बी रिजेक्टेड आउट राइट इसकी दूसरी डिमांड यह है कि राज्यपाल को रिकॉल करने की प्रक्रिया शुरू की जाए।
 श्री आडवाणी ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री ने उन्हें भरोसा दिलाया है कि कर्नाटक के घटनाक्रम को लेकर कोई भी असंवैधानिक कदम नहीं उठाया जायेगा।
 कर्नाटक में पिछले अक्टूबर में विधानसभा के अध्यक्ष ने भाजपा के ११ और ५ निर्दलीय विधायकों को अयोग्य घोषित कर दिया था। इस फैसले को सुप्रीम कोर्ट द्वारा रद्द किए जाने के बाद कर्नाटक के राज्यपाल ने  राष्ट्रपति को अपनी सिफारिश भेजी है।
 इस बीच कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री कल रात भाजपा विधायकों, सांसदों और विधान परिषद के सदस्यों के साथ नई दिल्ली पहुंचे। वे आज शाम राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटील से मिलेंगे। श्री येदियुरप्पा ने आरोप लगाया कि कर्नाटक के राज्यपाल शुरू से ही उनकी सरकार अस्थिर करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं।

 कांगे्रस महासचिव राहुल गांधी ने कहा है कि सरकार संसद के अगले सत्र में भूमि अधिग्रहण अधिनियम को पारित करने के लिए वचनबद्ध है। प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह से उनके निवास पर मुलाकात के बाद मीडिया से बातचीत में उन्होनें कहा कि सरकार इस विधेयक पर गंभीरता से काम कर रही है, क्योंकि यह काफी पेचीदा कानून है। उन्होंने डॉ० मनमोहन सिंह को ग्रेटर नोएडा में किसानों के हालात के बारे में बताया। श्री गांधी के अनुसार लोगों का कहना है कि उत्तर प्रदेश में मायावती सरकार, एक्सप्रेस वे बनाने के लिए उनकी जमीनों का अवैध रूप से अधिग्रहण कर रही है।

 मैं नोएडा गया था कुछ दिन पहले वहां काफी अत्याचार हो रहा है जनता के साथ वहां की जनता ने मुझे कहा था कि वो यहां मिलना चाहते हैं। प्रधानमंत्री जी से तो मैंने उसकों..किया और प्रधानमंत्री जी से बात कर पाए और अपनी बात उनके सामने रख पाए तो प्रधानमंत्री जी ने उनकी बात सुनी । आठ लोगों डेलीगेसन था। तो  उन्होंने अपनी बाते उनके सामने रखी।

 प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने कल नई दिल्ली में सेना के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के साथ देश की व्यापक सुरक्षा स्थिति का जायजा लिया। इस बैठक में क्षेत्र में आतंकवादी संगठनों से उत्पन्न किसी भी सुरक्षा चुनौती और पाकिस्तान की सशस्त्र सेनाओं की ओर से खतरे से निपटने में सेना की तैयारी की भी समीक्षा की गई। रक्षा सूत्रों के अनुसार प्रधानमंत्री को सुरक्षा उपायों और रक्षा सेनाओं की सामान्य तैयारी के बारे में बताया गया। पाकिस्तान में बदलते सुरक्षा परिदृश्य और चीन-भारत सीमा पर स्थिति जैसे मुद्दों पर भी चर्चा हुई।

 अमरीकी सीनेट में विदेशी मामलों की समिति के अध्यक्ष जॉन कैरी ने पाकिस्तान से कहा है कि वह अपनी धरती पर मौजूद आतंकवादी ठिकानों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करे। दो मई को अल-कायदा प्रमुख के मारे जाने के बाद श्री कैरी पाकिस्तान की आधिकारिक यात्रा पर जाने वाले पहले वरिष्ठ अमरीकी अधिकारी हैं। इस्लामाबाद में मीडिया को संबोधित करते हुये श्री कैरी ने कहा कि पाकिस्तानी सेनाध्यक्ष और नेताओं से हुई बातचीत में उन्होन दो टूक शब्दो में बता दिया है कि पाकिस्तान में आतंकवादियों के ठिकाने होना अमरीका के लिये बेहद चिंता का विषय है।

 मैं स्पष्ट रूप से पाकिस्तान में ओसामा बिन लादेन के मुद्दे पर अमरीका की चिंता व्यक्त करता हूं। मैं अपने पाकिस्तानी दोस्तों को बताना चाहता हूं कि पिछले कुछ दिनों में हुई घटनाओं को देखते हुए हमारी ओर से पाकिस्तान को अब भी दी जा रही सहायता पर अमरीकी कांग्रेस पर सवाल उठ रहे हैं।
 श्री कैरी ने कहा कि राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली जरदारी, प्रधानमंत्री युसुफ रजा गिलानी और सेना प्रमुख अशफाक परवेज कयानी ने उन्हे भरोसा दिलाया है कि आतंकवादियों के सफाये में पाकिस्तान पूरा सहयोग देगा।

 वर्ष २००८ में मुंबई में हुए आतंकवादी हमलों के आरोपी पाकिस्तानी मूल के कनाडा के नागरिक तहव्वुर हुसैन राना की सुनवाई शिकागो में शुरू हो गई है। राना पर आरोप है कि उसने मुंबई हमलों की साजिश में लश्कर-ए-तैयबा को मदद पहुंचाने में डेविड कोलमेल हेडली का साथ दिया था। हेडली भी मुंबई के आतंकी हमलों के मामले में आरोपी है। इन हमलों में छह अमरीकी नागरिकों समेत १६६ लोग मारे गए थे। मुकदमे की सुनवाई कल डिर्कसेन संघीय अदालत में शुरू हुई।

 न्यूयार्क की एक अदालत ने अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष के प्रमुख डोमिनिक स्ट्रॉस कॉन को जमानत देने से इंकार कर दिया है। उन पर न्यूयार्क के एक होटल की महिला कर्मचारी से अश्लील व्यवहार का  आरोप है। अदालत ने उन्हें हिरासत में भेज दिया है और चार दिनों के बाद फिर से अदालत में पेश करने के आदेश दिये हैं। उधर, श्री कॉन ंने अपने ऊपर लगे सभी आरोपों का खंडन किया है।

 उत्तर प्रदेश में अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय शिक्षक संघ ने विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति पी के अब्दुल अज+ीज+ और प्रॉक्टर मुजाहिद बेग को हटाने की मांग को लेकर अनिश्चितकालीन भूख हड़ताल शुरू कर दी है। शिक्षक संघ की यह भी मांग है कि विश्वविद्यालय को चरणबद्ध रूप से फिर से खोलने की घोषणा के बाद जो भी छात्र विश्वविद्यालय परिसर में पहुंच रहे हैं उन्हें छात्रावास सुविधा दी जाये।

 बिहार में जमुई जिले में माओवादियों द्वारा रविवार को अगवा किय गये छह मतदान कर्मियों का अब तक पता नहीं चला है। पुलिस ने जिले के क्षेत्र में तलाशी अभियान तेज कर दिया है। लापता मतदान कर्मियों की तलाश में एक हैलीकॉप्टर को भी लगाया गया है।
 राज्य में पंचायत चुनाव के नौंवे चरण के मतदान के लिए ये कर्मचारी जिले के चरखा पाथर क्षेत्र में अपने मतदान केन्द्रों पर जा रहे थे, कि इसी दौरान उनका अपहरण कर लिया गया। हालांकि खबर है कि माओवादी इन मतदान कर्मियों को छोड़ने के बदले अपने दो साथियों को छोड़ने की मांग कर रहे हैं।

AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalitha will take over as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today for a third term. She will be sworn-in along with 33 others in her Cabinet. The decision of the swearing-in ceremony and the ministers to be inducted was taken at a meeting Jayalalithaa had with Governor S.S. Barnala yesterday. The meeting came after the 146 newly-elected AIADMK MLAs elected her the leader of the AIADMK legislature party.
After meeting the Governor, the AIADMK chief said her immediate priorities as Chief Minister will be to restore law and order, control prices and put the economy of the state back on track.

NR Congress Leader, N. Rangasamy will be sworn-in as Chief Minister of Puducherry today. Lt. Governor Iqbal Singh will administer the oath of office and secrecy to him at 3.30 P.M. Raj Nivas sources said, other ministers will be sworn-in at a later date. Mr. Rangasamy met the Lt. Governor and staked his claim to form a new government after he was elected leader of NR Congress Legislature Party yesterday.
In the recently held Assembly Elections, the N.R. Congress bagged 15 seats in the 30 Member Assembly. The lone independent has also extended the support to NR Congress.

Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee will hold discussions with Congress President Sonia Gandhi today on government formation in West Bengal, where she will take over as Chief Minister. Ms. Banerjee, who along with Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee arrived in New Delhi from Kolkata late last night, will also meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.Issues of government formation in West Bengal and Ms. Banerjee's successor in the Railway Ministry are expected to be discussed by the leaders. Congress leader Oommen Chandy will be sworn-in as Chief Minister of Kerala on Wednesday. He was unanimously elected leader of Congress Legislature Party at Thiruvananthapuram yesterday. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is expected to meet the Governor at 11 AM today. Newly-elected Congress Legislators will meet in Guwahati tomorrow to elect the CLP leader. The CLP meeting will be attended by Senior Congress leaders - Pranab Mukherjee and Digvijay Singh. The CPI-M politburo meets in New Delhi today to discuss the poll debacle in West Bengal. The meet will initiate the process of analysing the reasons behind the party’s defeat. While the party lost power in West Bengal after a continuous 34-year rule, it failed to lead its Left Democratic Front (LDF) to victory in Kerala although it won 45 seats by itself to emerge as the largest single party formation in the new 140-member Assembly. Karnataka Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj has sent a special report to the Centre on political developments in the state. A communique issued by the Raj Bhawan yesterday said that the report has been sent in the context of recent judgement of the Supreme Court which set aside the disqualification of 11 rebel BJP MLAs by the Karnataka Assembly Speaker. AIR correspondent reports that the content of the Governor's Report has not been officially disclosed. Speculation is rife that the Governor has favoured President's rule in the state.
There is no official confirmation from Raj Bhavan about Governor recommending President rule in Karnataka. A three line communiqué sent by Raj Bhavan just says that in the context of recent judgment of the Supreme Court in the matter of disqualification of MLAs and its implication to the developments in the State, the Governor of Karnataka has submitted a special report to Government of India. On Sunday hectic political parleys and visit to Raj Bhavan by all the main political parties were the key developments. BJP is holding legislative party meeting today and likely to call a cabinet meeting. Northern India continues to simmer under hot conditions with the maximum temperature hovering above 40 degrees celsius in most parts of the region.

For the last seven days maximum temperatures continued to take an upward trend in Rajasthan. Sri Ganganagar, Churu, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaisalmer and Barmer are worst affected. Warmth of the sun is felt since morning and the situation worsens in afternoon, confining the people to their homes. Roads have a baron look in afternoon. There is no respite in the nights also, as minimum temperatures are also above normal. With the rising temperatures, drinking water problem in certain parts of the state has also aggravated.  असम में श्री तरूण गोगोई को सर्वसम्मति से राज्य की तेरहवीं विधानसभा के लिए कांग्रेस विधायक दल का नेता चुना गया है। हमारे संवादाता ने खबर दी कि अब से कुछ देर पहले विधानसभा के केन्द्रीय कक्ष में विधायक दल की बैठक में उनका चुनाव हुआ।

नये नेता निर्वाचित के लिए राज्य विधानसभा के केन्द्रीय कक्ष मे ंआयोजित अनुष्ठान करीबन घंटे के लिए अन्दर सम्पन्न हो गये हैं। नये विधानसभा के लिए चुना हुए सभी ७८ कांग्रेस विधायकों ने सर्वसम्मति से तरूण गोगोई को अपने मुख्यमंत्री के रूप से निर्वाचित किया है। उनके १९६६ सेकर्नाटक विधानसभा तरूण गोगोई इस बार राज्य के ष्ठोदस मुख्यमंत्री से शपथ लेंगे। रमणीकांत आकाशणी समाचार गुवाहाटी।

 भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने मांग की है कि कर्नाटक में राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने की सिफारिश करने की कथित असंवैधानिक कार्रवाई के लिए राज्यपाल हंसराज भारद्वाज को वापिस बुलाया जाए। नई दिल्ली में भाजपा मुख्यालय में विचार-विमर्श के बाद अध्यक्ष नितिन गडकरी ने संवाद्दाता सम्मेलन में आरोप लगाया कि राज्यपाल, कांग्रेस पार्टी के कहने पर लोकप्रिय सरकार को अस्थिर करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। इसे एक साजिश बताते हुए श्री गडकरी ने दावा किया कि राज्य विधानसभा में भारतीय जनता पार्टी का पूर्ण बहुमत है।
  
जो सुप्रीम कोर्ट का निर्णय हुआ है, उसके बारे में आप सबको भी जानकारी है और इसके कारण और ११ लोग जो भारतीय जनता पार्टी के थे, वो फिर से हमारे ग्रुप में एड हुए हैं और उन्होंने भी हमारी पार्टी को, येडुरप्पा जी को समर्थन दिया है। ऐसी स्थिति में हम कोई माइनोरिटी गवर्नमेंट नहीं हैं हम मेजोरिटी गवर्नरमेंट हैं मेजोरिटी गवर्नमेंट हैं और वहां की मेजोरिटी का सपोर्ट येदुरप्पा जी के नेतृत्व और हमारी सरकार को है।
और सुप्रीम कोर्ट के इस जजमेंट के बावजूद भी कर्नाटक के गवर्नर साहब ने हमारी सरकार को बर्खास्त करके प्रसीडेंट रूल के लिए सिफारिश करने वाला पत्र केन्द्र सरकार को भेजा है। यह उनकी कृति अलोकतांत्रिक है। असंवैधानिक है।
 कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री बी.एस.येदियुरप्पा कल रात भारतीय जनता पार्टी के विधायकों, विधान परिषद सदस्यों और सांसदों के साथ नई दिल्ली पहुंचे थे। वे  विधानसभा में  बहुमत के दावे के समर्थन में आज राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटील के सामने अपने विधायक पेश करेंगे।
 नई दिल्ली पहुंचने पर श्री येदियुरप्पा ने पत्रकारों के सामने आरोप लगाया कि कर्नाटक के राज्यपाल शुरू से उनकी सरकार को अस्थिर करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। भाजपा के वरिष्ठ नेता लालकृष्ण आडवाणी के नेतृत्व में एन.डी. ए के प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने कल प्रधानमंत्री से मिलकर राज्यपाल की सिफारिश को असंवैधानिक बताते हुए उसे अस्वीकार करने की मांग की थी। श्री आडवाणी ने बताया कि प्रधानमंत्री ने आश्वासन दिया है कि कर्नाटक की स्थिति के बारे में कोई असंवैधानिक कदम नहीं उठाया जाएगा। एन.डी.ए, भी कर्नाटक के राज्यपाल हंसराज भारद्वाज को वापिस बुलाने की मांग कर रहा है।
 कर्नाटक के राज्यपाल ने पिछले वर्ष अक्तूबर में भाजपा के ग्यारह और पांच निर्दलीय विधायकों को अयोग्य ठहराने का विधानसभा अध्यक्ष का फैसला उच्चतम न्यायालय से रद्द होने के बाद अपनी सिफारिश भेजी है।

 पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री और जनता दल एस के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष एच डी देवेगौड़ा ने कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री बी एस येदियुरप्पा और विधानसभा अध्यक्ष के जी बोप्पया के इस्तीफे की मांग की है। श्री देवेगौड़ा ने आज बंगलौर में पत्रकारों से कहा कि उच्चतम न्यायालय से लगी फटकार के बाद उन्हें तुरंत इस्तीफा दे देना चाहिए।
 कांग्रेस और भारतीय जनता पार्टी के कार्यकर्ताओं ने आज कर्नाटक में सभी जिला मुख्यालयों पर विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। कांग्रेस मांग कर रही है कि भ्रष्ट और जनता का विश्वास खो चुकी भाजपा सरकार को बर्खास्त कर दिया जाना चाहिए।

 बिहार में माओवादियों ने अपहृत सातों मतदान अधिकारियों को नवादा जिले के वन क्षेत्र में छोड़ दिया है। पुलिस सूत्रों के अनुसार ये मतदान अधिकारी काओकोल थाने के तहत महुआ टांड में मिले। हमारे पटना संवाद्दाता ने खबर दी है कि एक अधिकारी ने अपनी सुरक्षित रिहाई के बारे में अपने परिवार के सदस्यों को टेलीफोन पर सूचित किया। माओवादियों ने रविवार को इन मतदान अधिकारियों का अपहरण कर लिया था। ये अधिकारी जमुई जिले में सोनहो थाना के तहत चरका-पत्थर क्षेत्र में पंचायत चुनावों के नौंवे चरण के लिए अपने मतदान केन्द्रों की तरफ जा रहे थे।

 शिकागो की एक अदालत में पाकिस्तानी मूल के कनेडियाई तहव्वुर हुसैन राणा पर मुकदमा शुरू हो गया है। इसके साथ ही अमरीका ने पाकिस्तान से कहा है कि वह २६ नवम्बर के मुम्बई आतंकी हमलों के बारे में उसके प्रश्नों का उत्तर दे। वाशिंगटन में अमरीकी विदेश विभाग के प्रवक्ता मार्क टोनर ने संवाददाताओं को यह जानकारी दी लेकिन उन्होंने इस बारे में कोई ब्यौरा देने से इंकार किया। उनका कहना था कि यह कानूनी मामला है और अदालती कार्यवाही जारी है। श्री टोनर ने यह भी कहा कि अमरीका ने सभी पक्षों से मुम्बई हमलो के बाद उठे सवालों का जवाब देने को कहा है।

 अमरीकी सीनेटर जॉन कैरी का कहना है कि वे और पाकिस्तान के अधिकारी दोनों देशों के सम्बन्ध सुधारने के लिए कार्रवाई करने को तैयार हो गये हैं। इस महीने के शुरू में पाकिस्तान में अमरीकी हमले से ओसामा बिन लादेन के मारे जाने के बाद इन सम्बन्धों में तनाव आ गया था। अमरीकी सीनेट की विदेश सम्बन्ध समिति के अध्यक्ष श्री कैरी इस समय पाकिस्तान के दौरे पर गये हुए हैं। उन्होंने इस्लामाबाद में राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली जरदारी और प्रधानमंत्री यूसुफ रज+ा गिलानी के साथ मुलाकात की। उन्होंने कहा कि उनके दौरे का उद्देश्य बिन लादेन पर किये गये हमले के लिए माफी मांगना नहीं है बल्कि दोनों देशों के सम्बन्धों को सुधारने की कोशिश करना है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि बिन लादेन के खिलाफ की गई कार्रवाई आतंकवाद के विरूद्ध जीत है।
 पिछले हफ्‌ते पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री गिलानी ने चेतावनी दी थी कि भविष्य में कोई और एकतरफा कार्रवाई की गई तो इसके गम्भीर नतीजे होंगे। दूसरी ओर अमरीकी अधिकारियों का कहना है कि बिन लादेन वर्षों तक पाकिस्तान में कैसे रह सका और उसका पता क्यों नहीं चला। अटकलें लगाई गई हैं कि पाकिस्तानी नेताओं ने इसमें बिन लादेन की मदद की थी। श्री कैरी ने कहा कि इसके कोई सबूत तो नहीं हैं लेकिन उन्होंने पाकिस्तान पर अमरीका का भरोसा कम होने तथा नाराज+गी बढ़ने की चेतावनी दी।

 प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह अगले सप्ताह से इथियोपिया और तंजानिया की छह दिन की यात्रा के दौरान अफ्रीकी नेताओं के साथ आतंकवाद और समुद्री डकैती से निपटने पर प्रमुख रूप से चर्चा करेगे। १५ अफ्रीकी देशो कें साथ दूसरे अफ्रीका भारत मंच शिखर सम्मेलन में हिस्सा लेने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री २३ मई को अदीस अबाबा रवाना होंगे। अफ्रीकी संघ का मुख्यालय अदीस अबाबा में ही है। विदेश मंत्रालय में सचिव विवेक काटजू ने आज पत्रकारों को बताया कि भारत की तरह अफ्रीका भी आतंकवाद का शिकार है और समुद्री डकैती से भी अफ्रीका और भारत दोनों परेशान है।
 हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि भारत ने सोमाली समुद्री डकैतो से उत्पन्न खतरे पर गंभीर चिंता व्यक्त की है क्योंकि अंतर्राष्ट्रीय जहाजरानी कंपनियों के करीब ११ प्रतिशत कर्मचारी भारतीय हैं। इनमें से कुछ को समुद्री डकैतों ने बंधक बनाया है। अब तक २०० से अधिक हमले हो चुके है जिनमें से  ७० मे समुद्री डकैत ं अपहरण करने में सफल रहे। समझा जाता है कि बंधकों और जहाजों छुडवाने के लिए डकैतो को पांच करोड़ डॉलर से अधिक की फिरौती दी जा चुकी है।
 प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह अफ्रीकी संघ के मौजूदा अध्यक्ष इक्वेटोरियल गिनी के राष्ट्रपति ओबियांग एंन्गुमा म्बासोगो  के साथ शिखर बैठक की अध्यक्षता करेंगे। इसमें शामिल नेता भारत-अफ्रीका साझीदारी का दायरा परस्पर लाभ के लिए बढ़ाने पर चर्चा करेंगे।
 शिखर सम्मेलन के अंत में अदीस अबाबा घोषणा जारी होने की संभावना है जिसमे भारत और अफ्रीकी संघ के बीच महत्वपूर्ण साझेदारी को और मजबूत करने के उपाय शामिल होंगे। इस दौरान सहयोग बढ़ाने के लिए अफ्रीका भारत फ्रेमवर्क भी तय किया जाएगा।
 प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह २६ से २८ मई तक तंजानिया के नेताओं के साथ अलग से विचार-विमर्श करेंगे।

 मानवाधिकार संगठन-ह्‌यूमन राइट्स वॉच का कहना है कि नाइजीरिया में पिछले महीने चुनावों के दौरान हुई हिंसा में कम से कम आठ सौ लोगों की मौत हो गई। तीन दिन तक चली हिंसा की घटनाओं की शुरूआत उस समय हुई जब राष्ट्रपति पद के विपक्षी उम्मीदवार मुहम्मदु बुहारी के समर्थकों ने चुनाव आयोग के कार्यालयों और पुलिस थानों को आग लगा दी। ऐसा उस समय हुआ जब चुनाव परिणामों में बताया गया कि राष्ट्रपति गुडलक जोनाथन जीत रहे हैं।

 न्यूयार्क की एक अदालत ने अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष के प्रमुख डोमिनिक स्ट्रॉस कान को जमानत देने से इंकार कर दिया है। उन पर न्यूयार्क के एक होटल की महिला कर्मचारी से अश्लील व्यवहार का प्रयास करने का आरोप लगाया गया है। अदालत ने उन्हें हिरासत में भेज दिया है और चार दिनों के बाद फिर से अदालत में पेश करने के आदेश दिये हैं।

 राष्ट्रपति, उपराष्ट्रपति और प्रधानमंत्री ने आज बुद्ध पूर्णिमा के अवसर पर लोगों को बधाई दी है। राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील ने अपने संदेश में कहा कि भगवान बुद्ध ने विश्व को सत्य, करूणा और मानवता का संदेश दिया। उपराष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी ने कहा कि भगवान बुद्ध ने लोगों को अहिंसा, सदाचार और विश्व बंधुत्व की शिक्षा दी। प्रधानमंत्री डॉ० मनमोहन सिंह ने अपने संदेश में कहा कि भगवान बुद्ध की अहिंसा, करूणा और भाईचारे की शिक्षा आज भी प्रासंगिक है।

 बिहार के बोध गया में धार्मिक उत्साह और उल्लास के साथ बुद्ध पूर्णिमा मनाई जा रही है। बड़ी संख्या में श्रद्धालुओं ने मुख्य महाबोधि मन्दिर में प्रार्थना सभा में भाग लिया। मन्दिर को बहुत सुन्दर ढंग से सजाया गया है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया कि बोद्ध गया में एक भव्य समारोह का आयोजन किया गया है, जिसमें देश-विदेश के बौध श्रद्धालु शामिल हैं।

 उत्तर प्रदेश में सारनाथ और कुशीनगर में दिन की शुरूआत स्तूप पूजन से हुई। सारनाथ में ही भगवान बुद्ध ने अपने पांच अनुयायियों को पहला उपदेश देकर धर्म चक्र प्रवर्तन किया गया। दो दिन का विशेष कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया है। आकाशवाणी के संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि दुनियाभर से, खासतौर पर दक्षिण एशियाई देशों से बौद्ध धर्म के अनुयायी बड़ी संख्या में सारनाथ और कुशीनगर पहुंचे हैं। बनारस में श्रद्धालुओं की सुविधा के लिए सारनाथ आने और जाने के लिए विशेष बसों का प्रबन्ध किया गया है।

 लद्दाख में इस अवसर पर बौद्ध मठ गोंपा को भी बेहतरीन तरीके से सजाया गया है। सुबह से ही पूजा-अर्चना का दौर चल रहा है और लोग काफी संख्या में दर्शन करने पहुंच रहे हैं।

 नेपाल सरकार ने जापानी शहरों हिरोशिमा के पूर्व मेयर डॉ० तादातोशी अकीबा और नागासाकी के मेयर तोमीहिसा ताऊए को आज पहला गौतम बुद्ध अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय शान्ति पुरस्कार प्रदान किया। यह पुरस्कार गौतम बुद्ध के जन्म स्थान लुम्बिनी में दिया गया। शान्ति और अहिंसा के क्षेत्र में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान के लिए नेपाल के राष्ट्रपति डॉक्टर राम बरन यादव ने दोनों को संयुक्त रूप से यह सम्मान प्रदान किया। इस अवसर पर डॉक्टर यादव ने कहा कि महात्मा बुद्ध का शान्ति और अहिंसा का संदेश पहले की ही भांति आज भी प्रासंगिक है।
 इस पुरस्कार के अन्तर्गत प्रशस्ति पत्र, स्वर्ण पदक और ५० हजार डॉलर की रााशि प्रदान की जाती है।

 सरकार ने गांवों में किशोरियों को सस्ती दर पर सैनिटरी नैपकीन देने की योजना बनाई है ताकि वे साफ-सफाई के सुरक्षित तरीके अपना सकें। स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय ने गांवों में दस से उन्नीस वर्ष की आयु की लड़कियों को मासिक धर्म के दौरान सफाई के तरीके अपनाने की सुविधा देने के लिए यह योजना मंजूर की है। सरकारी सूत्रों के अनुसार पहले चरण में इससे २० राज्यों में डेढ़ करोड़ लड़कियों को लाभ होगा। इन लड़कियों को राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण स्वास्थ्य मिशन के ब्रैंड फ्री डेज के नाम से छह सेनिटरी नेपकीन का पैक छह रूपये में दिया जाएगा। ये नेपकीन गांव में मौजूद स्वास्थ्य कार्यकर्ता आशा से लिया जा सकता है। एक नेपकीन की लागत एक रूपये होगी। आशा को ये नेपकीन बेचने के लिए हर पैक पर एक रूपया नकद और हर महीने सेनिटरी नेपकीन का एक पैक मुफ्त मिलेगा।

In Assam, Mr. Tarun Gogoi has been unanimously elected as the  Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader in the 13th Assembly of the State. The formality for the election of the CLP leader was completed at a meeting organized at the Central Hall of the Assam Legislative Assembly a short while ago in presence of the Union Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee and the AICC general secretary in-charge of Assam Mr. Digvijay Singh. The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Mr. Bhubaneswar Kalita placed a resolution for unanimous election of Mr. Tarun Gogoi as the next CLP leader and all the 78 newly-elected Congress legislators of the Assembly supported it.
Mr. Gogoi is meeting the State Governor Janaki Ballav Patnaik this afternoon to stake his claim to  form  the next Government in the State. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan in Guwahati at 3.00 P.M tomorrow. This will be Mr. Tarun Gogoi’s third consecutive term as the Chief Minister of Assam.

Trinamool Congress Chief Ms. Mamata Banerjee is to be sworn-in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal on Friday.  She was formally invited by the Governor M.K. Narayanan to form the new government in the state. BJP has demanded recall of Karnataka Governor H.R. Bhardwaj for his alleged unconstitutional act of recommending imposition of President's rule in the State. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi following hectic consultations in the BJP headquarters, the Party President Nitin Gadkari alleged  that the Governor was trying to destabilise a popular government at the behest of Congress party. Calling it a conspiracy, Mr. Gadkari claimed that party has absolute majority in the state.
Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa arrived in New Delhi last night along with the BJP MLAs, MPs and MLCs. Mr. Yeddyurappa is to meet President Pratibha Devisingh Patil this evening and parade MLAs before her claiming his majority in the State Assembly. Talking to reporters on his arrival, Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that the Karnataka Governor has been trying to destabilise his government right from the beginning. The National Democratic Alliance has demanded recall of Karnataka Governor H.R. Bhardwaj for recommending President's rule in the state. NDA, led by senior BJP leader L.K. Advani met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi yesterday and demanded rejection of any such recommendation. Mr. Advani said that the Prime Minister had assured him that no unconstitutional step would be taken with regard to Karnataka developments.
The Karnataka Governor has sent his recommendations to the President after the Supreme Court quashed the disqualification of 11 BJP and five independent legislators by the speaker of the Karnataka Assembly in October last.

In Bihar, Maoists today freed all the seven adducted polling officials in forest area in Nawada district of the state. According to police sources, kidnapped polling officials were found at Mahua Tand area under Kauakol police station. Maoists abducted the polling officials on Sunday when they were proceeding towards their assigned booths for the ninth phase of Panchyat elections at Charka Pathar area under Sonho Police station in Jamui District.

As the trial of Pakistani-Canadian Tahawwur Hussain Rana began in a Chicago court, the United States has asked Pakistan to respond to its questions with regard to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. Disclosing this to reporters in Washington State Department spokesman Mark Toner, however, refrained from giving any further details citing it as a legal matter and the court proceedings were ongoing. US Senator John Kerry says, he and Pakistani officials have agreed on steps to improve bilateral relations strained by the US raid that killed Osama bin-Laden in northern Pakistan earlier this month. The United States has renewed its economic sanctions against Myanmar and urged the military-backed regime to go much further after it reduced prisoners' terms by just one year. In a formal notice to Congress yesterday, President Barack Obama said that he was renewing sanctions that would otherwise have expired this month. Combating terrorism and piracy will be high on the agenda of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his talks with African leaders on his six-day visit to Ethiopia and Tanzania next week. Dr. Singh, who leaves on 23rd of this month for Addid Ababa, the seat of the African Union (AU), will discuss the twin challenges during the Second Africa-India Forum Summit to be attended by 15 African countries. India and Uzbekistan have signed an action plan on Tourism cooperation between the two countries. Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Mr. Vyalar Ravi has said that the Indian diaspora is playing a significant role in various countries and making its presence felt in the world. He was addressing a group of 24 diaspora youth participants from seven countries under the 17th Know India Programme, KIP, who called upon the Minister in New Delhi last evening. Mr. Ravi said, the country is proud of the diaspora youth, who are placed in prominent positions across the globe.

Government has set up four working groups to suggest measures for immediate implementation to curb increasing road accidents in the country. This was revealed by the Road Transport & Highways Minister Dr. C P Joshi, while chairing the Consultative Committee meeting attached to his Ministry in New Delhi last evening. Mr. Joshi said that the working groups will focus on Education, Enforcement, Engineering and Emergency care of road accident victims. The groups will submit their reports within next three months. Nothern Railways have apprehended 52 touts who were allegedly involved in selling rail tickets to passengers. The touts were arrested by anti-fraud squad of Railway during a special drive conducted between 1st and 14th of this month. According to the Northen Railway official, the touts were handed over to RPF for prosecution. The squad also apprehended five unauthorised travel agencies during the operation.

The mayors have been accompanied by two survivors of the 1945 atomic explosions that devastated the two Japanese cities during the Second World War to highlight the need of international peace. Adolescent girls in rural areas will soon be able to buy sanitary napkins at a low rate under a new government scheme to ensure easy access in villages for promotion of safe and hygienic practices. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved the scheme as part of promotion of menstrual hygiene among girls in the age group of 10-19 years in rural areas. According to the official sources, the project is expected to benefit 1.5 crore girls in 20 states in the first phase. Under the scheme, girls will be provided a pack of six sanitary napkins under the National Rural Health Mission’s brand ‘Freedays’. These napkins will be sold to girls at a cost of six rupees for a pack of six napkins or a rupee per piece, in the village by the Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA). The ASHAs will get an incentive of one rupees on sale of each pack, besides a free pack of sanitary napkins per month.

The Ministry of Railways has released its first onboard magazine  ‘Rail Bandhu’ to make people aware of the fast changing face of Indian Railways. The magazine was released by Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee in New Delhi yesterday in the presence of  Railway Board Chairman Vivek Sahai.  The magazine will be distributed free of cost on Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains and AC coaches of Duranto Express trains. A significant part of the magazine will consist of Railway news including projects, policies and schemes being undertaken. The magazine will include, among other issues, an off the beaten track section which will be dedicated to those destinations which are accessible only by rail. In addition,the Rail Bandhu magazine will also have a dedicated segment for Frequently Asked Questions to address passenger queries.

असम में श्री तरुण गोगोई कल तीसरी बार मुख्यमंत्री की शपथ लेंगे। उन्हें आज सर्वसम्मति से कांग्रेस विधायक दल का नेता चुना गया। इसके बाद उन्होंने राज्यपाल जानकी बल्लभ पटनायक से मुलाकात कर नई सरकार बनाने का दावा पेश किया। हमारे संवाददाता ने राजभवन सूत्रों के हवाले से बताया है कि श्री तरुण गोगोई कल तीसरे पहर गुवाहाटी में राजभवन के दरबार हॉल में पद और गोपनीयता की शपथ लेंगे।
उधर, केरल में कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेता ओम्मन चांडी तिरुअनंतपुरम में राजभवन में कल दोपहर बाद मुख्यमंत्री पद की शपथ लेंगे। कांग्रेस के नेतृत्व वाले यू.डी.एफ. के मंत्री भी उनके साथ पद और गोपनीयता की शपथ लेंगे। नए मंत्रिमंडल का विस्तार एक सप्ताह के भीतर किया जा सकता है । 86 वर्षीय श्री ओम्मन चांडी दूसरी बार केरल के मुख्यमंत्री का पद संभालेंगे। कांग्रेस के नेता यू.डी.एफ. के दलों को दिए जाने वाले मंत्री पदों की संख्या के बारे में अंतिम दौर की बातचीत कर रहे हैं। श्री ओम्मन चांडी मुख्यमंत्री पद संभालने के बाद मंत्रिमंडल में विस्तार के सिलसिले में पार्टी हाईकमान से मुलाकात करेंगे।

कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री बी.एस. येदियुरप्पा, अपने समर्थक विधायकों के साथ आज राष्ट्रपति भवन में राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील से मिले। श्री येदियुरप्पा अपना बहुमत साबित करने के लिए एक सौ चौदह विधायकों और उनकी सरकार को समर्थन दे रहे पांच विधायकों के पत्र लेकर राष्ट्रपति भवन पहुंचे। उन्होंने बताया कि एक विधायक अस्पताल में भर्ती है। भाजपा के बड़े नेता सुषमा स्वराज, अरुण जेटली, एम. वेंकैयानायडू और कुछ अन्य लोग भी श्री येदियुरप्पा के साथ राष्ट्रपति से मिलने गए।
भाजपा अध्यक्ष नीतिन गडगरी ने कहा कि येदियुरप्पा सरकार को विधानसभा में पूर्ण बहुमत प्राप्त है।
कर्नाटक की विधानसभा 224 विधायकों की है और 224 में से एक स्थान रिक्त है और 223 में से 122 सदस्यों का समर्थन येदियुरप्पा जी के नेतृत्व में भारतीय जनता पार्टी की सरकार को हासिल है। अगर किसी सरकार का बहुमत है या नहीं है ये विधानसभा के फ्‌लौर पर निश्चित होना चाहिए।

श्री येदियुरप्पा ने कर्नाटक में राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने की राज्यपाल हंसराज भारद्वाज की सिफारिश का विरोध करते हुए रविवार को राष्ट्रपति, प्रधानमंत्री और गृहमंत्री को पत्र सौंपा था। पिछले वर्ष 10 अक्टूबर को विधानसभा में शक्ति परीक्षण से पहले विधानसभाध्यक्ष ने भाजपा के ग्यारह विधायकों और पांच निर्दलयों को अयोग्य ठहराये। उच्चतम न्यायालय द्वारा रद्द किए जाने के बाद, राज्यपाल ने राज्य में राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने की कथित रूप से सिफारिश की है।
एन.डी.ए. ने राज्यपाल की तथाकथित असंवैधानिक गतिविधियों के लिए उन्हें वापस बुलाने की मांग की है। भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने राज्यपाल पर एक लोकतांत्रिक सरकार को अस्थिर करने का आरोप लगाया है।

सरकार ने अर्द्धसैनिक बलों में काम कर रही महिलाओं के लिए बेहतर माहौल उपलब्ध कराने के लिए नए निर्देश जारी किए हैं। जो महिलाएं सीमा पर बी.एस.एफ., एस.एस.बी. और आई.टी.बी.पी. में हैं, उनकी नियुक्ति उनके घर के नज+दीक होगी। नए निर्देशों के अनुसार अगर महिला अधिकारी शादीशुदा है तो उसे उसी शहर में नियुक्त किया जाना चाहिए, जहां उसका पति काम कर रहा है। इसमें शर्त यह है कि उसका पति भी सरकारी कर्मचारी होना चाहिए।
सशस्त्र सीमा बल और भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस ने करीब एक हजार महिलाओं को भारत-नेपाल और भारत-भूटान सीमा की सुरक्षा के लिए भर्ती किया है।

कांग्रेस ने ग्रेटर नोएडा में भट्टा-पारसौल गांव के किसानों पर उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार द्वारा किए गए अत्याचारों की सी बी आई से जांच कराए जाने की मांग की है। नई दिल्ली में आज पार्टी प्रवक्ता मनीष तिवारी ने आरोप लगाया कि मायावती सरकार इस इलाके में लोगों को जाने से रोक रही है और तथ्यों को छिपा रही है।

गर उत्तर प्रदेश की सरकार पाक-साफ है तो जो न्यायिक जांच की मांग है उसको क्यों नहीं मानती, क्यू वहां पर लोगों को जानने की इजाजत नहीं तो खोल दे भट्टा परसौल के रास्ते जाने दे वहां पर पत्रकारों को जब तक भट्टा परसौल के उन वासियों को न्याय नहीं मिलता तो कांग्रेस पार्टी अपनी जंग को पूर्ण विराम नहीं लगाएगी।
कांग्रेस महासचिव राहुल गांधी ने कल आरोप लगाया था कि इस इलाके में राख के 74 ढेर थे जिनके नीचे शव दबे हुए थे और उनके पास इस बात को साबित करने के लिए तस्वीरें हैं।

उत्तर प्रदेश में आज फैजाबाद की एक निचली अदालत ने बहुजन समाज पार्टी सरकार में पूर्व मंत्री आनंद सेन यादव और उसके दो सहयोगियों को शशि के अपहरण और उसकी हत्या का दोषी ठहराया है। हमारे लखनऊ संवाददाता ने बताया है कि शशि फैजाबाद में कानून की छात्रा थी और 23 अक्तूबर 2007 को वह लापता हो गयी थी।

प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने राजमार्ग निर्माण कार्य की समीक्षा के लिए इस महीने के अंत में एक उच्चस्तरीय बैठक बुलाई है। परिवहन मंत्रालय ने प्रतिदिन बीस किलोमीटर सड़क बनाने की महत्वाकांक्षी योजनाएं बनाई हैं। लेकिन ठेके देने में देरी और भूमि अधिग्रहण तथा पर्यावरण मंजूरी संबंधी समस्याओं के कारण मंत्रालय लक्ष्य पूरा करने में असमर्थ रहा है।
सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय के हवाले से हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि सड़क क्षेत्र में हुई प्रगति की समीक्षा के अलावा प्रधानमंत्री 11वीं पचवर्षीय योजना के अंतिम चार वर्षों में हुई प्रगति का भी जायजा लेंगे।

भारत ने श्रीलंका से आग्रह किया है कि वह विस्थापित तमिलों को फिर से बसाने के काम में तेजी लाये और मानवाधिकारों के उल्लंघन के आरोपों की जांच कराये। श्रीलंका से यह भी कहा गया कि विस्थापितों को अपने घरों को लाया जाये , आपातकालीन नियमों को वापस लिया जाये, और प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में सामान्य स्थिति बहाल की जाये। श्रीलंका के विदेश मंत्री प्रोफेसर जी एल पेरिस की तीन दिन की भारत यात्रा के बाद जारी संयुक्त बयान मे कहा गया है कि श्रीलंका में संघर्ष खत्म होने से सभी बकाया मसलों को आपसी समझ और सदभाव से सुलझाने का ऐतिहासिक अवसर मिला है। श्रीलंका में ं जातीय संघर्ष के बाद तमिलों के लिए एक पैकेज की घोषणा से सुलह और सदभावना का वातावरण बनने में मदद मिलेगी।

नाटो के लड़ाकू विमानों ने लीबिया की राजधानी त्रिपोली पर फिर से हमले किए और शहर के पूर्वी हिस्सों पर बमबारी की। लीबियाई मीडिया के अनुसार हवाई हमलों में रिहायशी इलाके के बीचोंबीच एक रडार स्टेशन नष्ट हो गया। मीडिया ने सैन्य सूत्रों के हवाले से बताया कि ताजुरा इलाके में असैनिक और सैन्य ठिकानों को निशाना बनाया गया। नाटो ने लीबिया पर मार्च के अंत में उड़ान निषेध क्षेत्र लागू करने के सैन्य अभियान का नियंत्रण संभालने के बाद से लीबिया पर सैकड़ों हवाई हमले किए हैं। ब्रिटेन के रक्षामंत्री लियाम फोक्स ने कल कहा था कि पश्चिमी गठबंधन तब तक लीबिया पर बमबारी करता रहेगा जब तक कर्नल मुअम्मार गद्दाफी हार नहीं मान लेते।

सरकार ने पाकिस्तान को दी गयी पचास मोस्ट वांटेड लोगों की सूची में शामिल एक आरोपी आतंकवादीं के कथित रुप से मुम्बई के निकट ठाणे में रहने के बारे में जांच के आदेश दिये हैं। पुलिस सूत्रों ने बताया कि वाजुल कमर खान नाम के इस अभियुक्त को, 2003 में मुलंद में रेलगाडी में हुए विस्फोटों में कथित रूप से शामिल होने के सिलसिले में पिछले साल गिरफतार किया गया था। जमानत पर छूटने के बाद से वह अपने परिवार के साथ ठाणे में रह रहा है।

इंडियन स्कूल सर्टिफिकेट एग्जामिनेशन बोर्ड की दसवीं और 12वीं कक्षा के परीक्षा परिणामों में एक बार फिर लड़कियों ने लड़कों से बेहतर प्रदर्शन किया है।
आज घोषित किये गये परीक्षा परिणामों में दसवीं कक्षा में लड़कियों के पास होने का प्रतिशत 99 दशमलव एक पांच रहा, जबकि लड़कों का प्रतिशत 98 दशमलव एक नौ रहा। 12वीं कक्षा के लिए लड़कियों का पास होने का प्रतिशत 98 दशमलव चार रहा, जबकि लड़कों का 96 दशमलव तीन प्रतिशत रहा। इस वर्ष पास होने वाले कुल छा+त्रों के प्रतिशत में भी बढोतरी हुई।

The new Chief Ministers of Assam and Kerela will be sworn in tomorrow and West Bengals' on Friday.          In Assam, Tarun Gogoi will assume office for the third time in row. He was unanimously elected  Congress Legislature Party leader in the 13th Assembly of the State today.A resolution moved by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President  Bhubaneswar Kalita for electing  Tarun Gogoi as the next CLP leader was unanimously approved by all the 78 newly-elected Congress legislators.  The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan in Guwahati at 3.00 P.M tomorrow.
In Kerala, senior Congress Leader Oommen Chandy will be sworn in as Chief Minister tomorrow afternoon. Leaders of other parties of the Congress led U.D.F are also to take oath as ministers at Raj Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram. Expansion of the new government is likely within a week. Sixty eight year old Oommen Chandy will be taking over as chief minister of Kerala for the second time.

Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa this evening  paraded MLAs supporting his government before President  Pratibha Devisingh  Patil at Rastrpati Bhawan in New Delhi. Yeddyurappa arrived at Rashtrapati Bhavan  along with 114 MLAs and five letters  support to prove his majority. It was claimed that one MLA was in hospital. BJP stalwarts Sushma Swaraj ,Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Nadu  and scores of party supporters accompanied him. The NDA has demanded recall of the governor for his so called unconstitutional activities.  The BJP President Nitin Gadkari claimed that the Yeddyurappa led government enjoys the majority in the Karntaka assembly.

Yeddyurappa had on Sunday shot off a protest letter to President , The Prime Minister and Union home minister  against  governor Bhardwaj's move to recommend President's rule in Karnataka.
The report from Bhardwaj allegedly recommending imposition of president's rule in the state, comes in the wake of Supreme Court reversing the Karnataka high court decision of disqualifying 11 BJP rebel MLAs and five independents ahead of the
October 10, 2010 floor test in the assembly.    
Former Prime Minister and JD(S) National President Deve Gowda has demanded  resignation of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Speaker K G Boppaiah in Karnataka. Speaking to media person   in Bangalore today, Deve Gowda said in the background of Supreme Court strictures issued against them, they should resign immediately.

Peace talks between ULFA leaders and the centre will start soon. Home Minister P Chidambaram said in Agartala today that ULFA leaders met Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi and Prime Minister and expressed willingness to resume peace talks. He said they have been advised to prepare a document. Based on that  dialogue with the government will take place soon.
Earlier, unveiling the foundation stone for the construction of an Integrated Check Post at Agartala Chidambaram  said the department of Border Management has finalised the detailed project reports for 13 Integrated Check Posts to be set up along India's border with Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Myanmar.

The Congress today demanded a CBI inquiry into the atrocities committed on the farmers of Bhatta Parsaul village in Greater Noida by the Uttar Pradesh Government. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, Party Spokesman Manish Tiwari alleged that the Mayawati government is hiding facts by converting the area into a no-entry zone. He demanded that the Uttar Pradesh government allow people and journalists to visit the village.

The Government has ordered an enquiry to probe how a terror accused on  the most wanted list of 50 given to Pakistan has been found staying in Thane neighbouring Mumbai. The accused - Wazhul Kamar Khan - is  one of those named  in the list of fugitives sought by India from Pakistan. Police sources said Khan was arrested last year for his alleged role in the 2003 Mulund train blasts and has been living in Thane with his family after he was let out on bail.

New Delhi has urged Sri Lanka to speed up resettlement of displaced Tamils and investigate allegations of human rights violations. Colombo was also asked to work for genuine reconciliation, including early return of Internally Displaced Persons to their homes, early withdrawal of emergency regulations, restoration of normalcy in affected areas and to redress humanitarian concerns of the  affected families.
A joint statement issued at the end of the three day visit of the Minister of External Affairs of Sri Lanka Prof. G L Peiris to New Delhi today said that the end of armed conflict in Sri Lanka has created a historic opportunity to address all outstanding issues in a spirit of understanding.
Reviewing the outcome of the Joint Working Group meeting on Fisheries held in New Delhi in  March both sides agreed that the use of force against fishermen straying on either side of the International Maritime Boundary  cannot not be justified under any circumstances and that all fishermen should be treated in a humane manner.

NATO-led warplanes again carried out air strikes on the Libyan capital, Tripoli, today pounding the eastern parts of the troubled city. Libyan media said a radar station in the heart of a residential area was destroyed in the air raid. The media also quoted a military source as saying that civilian and military sites in the Tajura area have been targeted, resulting in civilian and military losses. The strike comes as local witnesses say they heard three loud explosions and blasts further to the east of the city.

In Afghanistan, NATO -led forces have killed at least 13 militants in eastern province of Paktika. NATO said in a statement that nine militants were killed in Urgun district last night while four were killed in Mata Khan today. Meanwhile, three foreign soldiers were killed today taking the death doll among them to seven since yesterday.

In Bihar, a large number of devotees were  seen at Main Mahabodhi temple to offer prayers.
In Uttar Pradesh, the day started with Stupa Pujan in Sarnath and Kushinagar.
In West Bengal, special religious congregations were held almost at all the monasteries in Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars and also in Sikkim

Himalaya. Buddhist monks and other devotees in large number attended the religious procession. Leh town wore festive mood today with religious flags and chanting of various Buddhist mantra. Girls outperformed boys once again in the Class-X and Class-XII board of the  Indian School Certificate Examinations  (ICSE) this year.
The pass percentage of girls was 99.15 per cent in Class-X against 98.19 of boys and 98.40 per cent in Class-XII against 96.30 of boys. The pass rate of students was also higher this year.
The Board announced in New Delhi today that there were 57,487 candidates in Class-XII while 1,22,347 students took the Class-X ICSE exam held in March.
The Board said the marksheets for Class XII will reach the schools on Thursday and  class X a day later.

Annu Raj Singh has become the fifth Indian shooter to book a berth in next year's London Olympics after clinching the 10 metre Air Pistol silver medal at the ongoing ISSF World Cup in Fort Benning, USA.    
The 27-year old shooter ended up second overall with a total score of 486.6 points, after scoring 97.6 points in the final.

So far, both the teams have played twelve games each.  But in the IPL table, the Bangalore team hold the top spot with 17 points in the ten-team competition.  The Punjab side, at present, are in the fifth position  with 12 points.
