 भारत और नेपाल में कल शाम आये भीषण भूकंप में कम से कम २५ लोगों की मृत्यु हुई है और एक सौ घायल हुए हैं। दो दशक में इस सबसे भीषण भूकंप की तीव्रता ६ दशमलव ८ मापी गई और इसका केंद्र सिक्किम-नेपाल सीमा पर गंगतोक से ५० किलोमीटर से भी दूर मंगन और साकियांग क्षेत्रों में था। 
 भूकंप के कारण सिक्किम में नौ, पश्चिम बंगाल चार, बिहार में सात और नेपाल में पांच लोगों के मरने की खबर है। असम, मेघालय, त्रिपुरा,  झारखंड, उत्तर प्रदेश, राजस्थान, चंडीगढ़ और दिल्ली में भी भूकंप के झटके महसूस किये गये।
 उत्तरी सिक्किम क्षेत्र में मृतकों में सेना के दो जवान शामिल हैं। दिल्ली में सेना के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि जवानों को ले जा रहे एक वाहन सहित सेना के तीन वाहनों के लापता होने की खबर है। हमारे गंगटोक संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि चट्टानें गिरने के कारण सिक्किम में कई जगह सड़कें बंद हो गई हैं।

अपनी जान गवाने वाले नौ लोगों में से दो सेना के जवान हैं।  जो उत्तर सिक्किम जिले में मारे गए। भूकम्प से जुड़ी घटनाओं में पचास से ज्यादा लोग घायल हो हुए हैं। आपदा प्रबंधन विभाग के सचिव श्री बी के खरेल के अनुसार दूरदराज के जगहों से जानकारी मिलनी बांकी हैं और ऐसे में मरने और घायल होने वालों की संख्या बढ़ सकती हैं। इस बीच घबराये लोगों ने पूरी रात आंखों में ही काटी क्योंकि बाद में भी भूकम्प के झटके महसूस किए गए। भूकम्प के कारण बिजली सप्लाई भी ठप्प हो गई जिससे सारा राज्य अंधेरे में डूब गया। संबंधित एजेंसियां बिजली की आपूर्ति बहाल करने में जुटी हैं। भूकम्प के बाद टेलीफोन लाइनें भी भारी व्यस्तता के कारण जाम हो गई और देर रात तक यही हाल रहा। स्थिति में थोड़ा सुधार हुआ है। भूकम्प के चलते जगह-जगह चट्टानें खिसक गयी और पेड़ तथा बिजली के खम्बे उखड़ गए हैं जिससे राज्य भर में सड़क सम्पर्क टूटा हुआ है। विनय राज तिवारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, गंगतोक।

 पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्य सचिव समर घोष ने बताया कि दार्जिलिंग में तीन और जलपाईगुड़ी जिले में एक व्यक्ति की मौत हुई।
 बिहार में भूकम्प से सात लोगों की मौत हो गयी है। हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने मृतकों के निकट संबंधियों को डेढ़-डेढ़ लाख रुपये का मुआवजा देने की घोषणा की है।

गया के शेरघाटी में मकान का छत गिर जाने के कारण एक ही परिवार के तीन लोगों की मौके पर मौत हो गयी। पटना और नालंदा में दीवार के नीचे दब जाने से दो लोग मारे गए भूकम्प के कारण मची भगदड़ में भागलपुर और दरभंगा में एक-एक लोग की मौत हो गई। एनटीपीसी के कहल गांव प्लांट में बिजली का उत्पादन कुछ घण्टों के लिए ठप्प हो गया। नेपाल के सीमावर्ती जिलों मधुबनी, सीतामढ़ी, शिवहर, पूर्वी और पश्चिम चम्पारण में कई मकानों के छतिग्रस्त होने की सूचना है। भूकम्प के कारण लोग रात भर सहमे रहे। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए पटना से कृष्ण कुमार लाल।

 नई दिल्ली में कल देर रात आपदा प्रबंधन समिति की आपात बैठक के बाद कैबिनेट सचिव अजीत सेठ ने बताया कि भूकम्प की चपेट में आए क्षेत्र में राहत कार्य शुरू कर दिये गए हैं। केंद्र ने राष्ट्रीय आपदा बचाव बल की चार टीमें नई दिल्ली से और पांच टीम कोलकाता से सिक्किम रवाना की हैं।
 रक्षा सूत्रों के हवाले से हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि राष्ट्रीय आपदा राहत बल के कर्मियों और जरूरी उपकरणों को ले जाने के लिए भारतीय वायु सेना के पांच विमानों की सेवाएं ली जा रही हैं।
 भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस-आई टी बी पी, उत्तरी सिक्किम के पेगांग इलाके में तलाश और राहत का काम कर रही है। उसने २०० लोगों को बचा लिया है। भूकम्प की वजह से बल की दो इमारते ढह गई।

प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह ने सिक्किम के मुख्य मंत्री पवन चामलिंग से फोन पर बात कर हर संभव मदद की पेशकश की है।
 कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने इस आपदा पर गहरा दुख और चिंता व्यक्त की है।

 उधर, नेपाल में इस भूकम्प में कम से कम पांच लोगों की मौत हो गई और साठ घायल हो गए। तीन लोगों की मौत राजधानी काठमांडू में ब्रिटिश दूतावास की दीवार ढहने के कारण मलबे में दबने से हुई। पूर्वी धारन शहर में एक मकान ढहने से दो व्यक्तियों की मौत हो गई।
पूरे नेपाल में भूकम्प के झटके महसूस किए गए। नेपाल में भूकम्प से पांच लोगों की मौत हो गई है। गृहमंत्रालय ने बताया है कि राजधानी काठमांडु में साठ लोग घायल हुए हैं। ज्यादातर लोग भूकम्प के बाद मची भगदड़ से घायल हुए देशभर से सरकारी भवनों और मकानों को नुक्सान पहुंचे की खबर है। काठमांडु से जेनामचू के साथ की रिपोर्ट के साथ दिल्ली से वर्तिका।

 महाराष्ट्र में लातूर और उस्मानाबाद जिलों में आज सुबह छह बजकर २४ मिनट पर भूकंप के हल्के झटके महसूस किये गये। लातूर से हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार लातूर शहर और जिले के अन्य इलाके में भूकंप की तीव्रता तीन दशमलव एक  थी। जिले की उमरगा और लोहारा तालुका में भी इसी तीव्रता के झटके आये। जानमाल के नुकसान की  कोई खबर नहीं है।

 प्रधानमंत्री डा. मनमोहन सिंह संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा की ६६वीं बैठक में भाग लेने के लिये बुधवार को न्यूयार्क रवाना होंगे। न्यूयार्क में पांच दिन के प्रवास के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री, समकालीन वास्तविकताओं के अनुसार संयुक्त राष्ट्र में सुधारों पर जोर देंगे। इसके अलावा वे अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अर्थव्यवस्था और वित्तीय संकट में सुधार लाने के लिये विश्व नेताओं के साथ मिलकर काम करेंगे। प्रधानमंत्री के साथ एक उच्च स्तरीय शिष्टमंडल भी जा रहा है। डा. मनमोहन सिंह २४ सितम्बर को संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा को सम्बोधित करेंगे।

 उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस के आतंकवाद निरोधी दस्ते, एटीएस ने पाकिस्तानी खुफिया एजेंसी आई एस आई के एक कथित एजेंट को गिरतार किया है। ये गिरतारी रविवार को कानपुर के रेल बाजार क्षेत्र से की गई। पुलिस के एक प्रवक्ता ने हमारे लखनऊ संवाददाता को बताया कि गिरतार व्यक्ति की पहचान झारखंड की राजधानी रांची के रहने वाले फैजल रहमान के रूप में की गई है। पुलिस ने रहमान के कब्जे से आई एस आई अधिकारियों के फोन नम्बर और ई-मेल आई डी तथा भारतीय सेना के संवेदनशील दस्तावेज जब्त किये हैं।

 उत्तर प्रदेश में आगरा के एक निजी अस्पताल में हुए बम विस्फोट में पटाखों वाला मिश्रण इस्तेमाल किया गया था। पुलिस ने बताया कि आगरा की फॉरेंसिक जांच प्रयोगशाला की शुरूआती रिपोर्ट के अनुसार इसमें पोटैशियम क्लोराइड, सल्फर, चारकोल होने के संकेत मिले हैं।
 हमारे लखनऊ संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा गार्ड-एनएसजी और राज्य पुलिस के आतंकवाद निरोधी दस्ते एटीएस और विशेष कार्य बल एसटीएफ ने धमाके की जांच शुरू कर दी है। अब तक इस मामले में कोई गिरतारी नहीं हुई है। पुलिस ने हरि पर्वत थाने में अज्ञात लोगों के खिलाफ प्राथमिकी दर्ज की है। पुलिस ने विस्फोट की सुराग देने वालों के लिए इनाम की राशि पचास हजार रुपये से बढ़ाकर एक लाख रुपये कर दी है।

 झारखंड में रांची जिले में बुन्डु के पास राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर बस दुर्घटना में बीस लोग मारे गये हैं और २५ घायल हुये हैं। जमशेदपुर से असरा जा रही ये यात्री बस कल देर रात सामने से आ रहे ट्रेलर से टकरा गई। घायलों को रांची में सरकारी अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है। मुख्यमंत्री अर्जुन मुंडा सराईकेला का दौरा रद्द करके घायलों को देखने के लिए रांची पहुंच गये हैं।

 खनन कारोबारी और कर्नाटक के पूर्व मंत्री जी जनार्दन रेड्डी तथा ओबलापुरम खनन कम्पनी के प्रबंध निदेशक श्रीनिवास रेड्डी को आज अदालत में पेश किया जाएगा। वे दोनों फिलहाल हैदराबाद में सीबीआई की हिरासत में हैं। विशेष अदालत ने १२ सितम्बर को उन दोनों की जमानत याचिकाएं खारिज करते हुए उन्हें छह दिन की सीबीआई हिरासत में भेज दिया था।

 गुजरात में सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्ता और नृत्यांगना मल्लिका साराभाई को      मुख्यमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के सद्भावना उपवास का विरोध कर रहे कुछ दंगा पीड़ितों के साथ हिरासत में लिया गया है। ये लोग २००२ में दंगों से सबसे बुरी तरह प्रभावित नरोडा पाटिया क्षेत्र में विरोध प्रदर्शन कर रहे थे। मुख्यमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के उपवास का आज तीसरा दिन है।

 ओड़िशा में लाखों लोग अब भी बाढ़ की मार झेल रहे हैं। राज्य सरकार ने अब भी बाढ़ के पानी में डूबे हुये गांवों में राहत कार्य सात दिन और जारी रखने का फैसला किया है। मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक ने बाढ़ग्रस्त जिलों के जिलाधिकारियों को निर्देश दिया है कि वे पुनर्निर्माण और मरम्मत का काम तुरंत शुरू करें और ४५ दिन के भीतर पूरा कर दें। उन्होंने जिलाधिकारियों से यह भी कहा है कि केंद्र प्रायोजित महात्मा गांधी राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण रोजगार गारंटी योजना के तहत गांवों में ऐसे काम शुरू करें जिनमें लोगों को मजदूरी मिल सके क्योंकि बाढ़ से गरीब लोगों पर असर पड़ा है।
 ओड़िशा के तीस में से १९ जिलों में करीब ३० लाख लोग बाढ़ से बुरी तरह प्रभावित हैं।

 यमन की राजधानी सना में सुरक्षा बलों की गोलीबारी में कम से कम २६ प्रदर्शनकारी मारे गए और सैकड़ों अन्य घायल हो गए हैं। प्रदर्शनकारी राष्ट्रपति अली अब्दुल्लाह सालेह को हटाने की मांग कर रहे थे। यमन के  रक्षा मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि प्रदर्शनकारियों द्वारा सुरक्षाकर्मियों पर पेट्रोल बम फेंकने के बाद गड़बड़ी शुरू हुई। मंत्रालय की वेबसाइट पर जारी बयान में कहा गया है कि एक इस्लामी गुट ने प्रदर्शनकारियों पर गोलीबारी शुरू की। जबकि प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों का कहना है कि चेंज स्क्वैयर में पुलिस ने प्रदर्शनकारियों पर गोलियां चलाई और आंसूगैस के गोले दागे तथा पानी की बौछारें की। यहां फरवरी से ही राष्ट्रपति के खिलाफ विरोध प्रदर्शन जारी है।

 'मोदी की सद्भावना पर चौतरफा वार' राष्ट्रीय सहारा की सुर्खी है।
 समुद्र के अंदर अपनी मारक क्षमता को मजबूती देने के उद्देश्य से आधुनिक पोत विध्वंसक शस्त्र वाली मिसाइल विकसित करने के लिए किर्गिस्तान में एक परीक्षण केन्द्र शुरू करने की भारत की योजना को जनसत्ता ने प्रमुखता दी है जबकि पंजाब केसरी लिखता है कि देश के नक्सल प्रभावित राज्यों में माओवादियों के खिलाफ जंग में वायुसेना के हेलीकॉप्टरों का उपयोग होगा। इसके लिए वायुसेना ने अपने छह हेलीकाप्टर मुहैया कराने पर सहमति दे दी है।
 अदालतों में लंबित करोड़ों मुकदमे और पेशेवर दक्ष वकीलों की कमी से निपटने के लिए सरकार हर राज्य में एक विधि विश्वविद्यालय खोलने पर विचार कर रही है। दैनिक भास्कर ने इस खबर को अपने 'राजतंत्र' पृष्ठ पर छापा है।

 केन्द्रीय सतर्कता आयोग का मानना है कि कॉरपोरेट सेक्टर को भी प्रस्तावित लोकपाल कानून के दायरे में भी लाया जाना चाहिए।

At least twenty people were killed and over a hundred injured in Sikkim, West Bengal and Bihar in a 6.8 magnitude earthquake last evening. The epicentre of the quake - the biggest in two decades, was located at Mangan and Sakyong areas, over 50 kilometres from Gangtok on the Sikkim-Nepal border. The quake claimed 9 lives in Sikkim, 4 in West Bengal, and 7 in Bihar. The quake also claimed five lives in Nepal. Tremors were also felt in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Delhi.
Two Army jawans were among those killed in the North Sikkim area and three army vehicles including one with army personnel are reported missing, an army official said in Delhi. Our Gangtok correspondent reports that roads have been blocked at many places due to landslides.
The Disaster Management department Secretary Mr. B.K. Khare says that since reports from remote places are still to come, the number of those killed and injured may further go up. The panic stricken people of the entire state spent a sleepless night as after shocks were also felt. The tremours resulted in snapping of powerline plunging the entire state in the dark. The concerned agencies are trying their best to restore a normal power supply. Telephone lines too got jammed due to heavy congestion after the earthquake which continued till late in the night. The situation has now improved a little. The tremours triggered land-slides and uprooted trees and electric poles at many places disrupting the route connectivity through out the state. It was a Sunday with difference. People in Kolkata were busy for Durga Puja marketing in the evening on the day of Vishwakarma Pooja. Suddenly the alarm bell in a shopping mal started ringing followed by an announcement to vacate the building immediately. Panicky people came out from the building and experienced the tremor. The tremor was felt in all the districts of the state but 6 North Bengal district particularly the Darjeeling district has been badly affected. Landslides, cracks in buildings have been reported from Kurseong, Kalingpong, Jalpaiguri and Siliguri areas. Many vehicles were stranded on the National Highway connecting Sikkim from North Bengal. The Army and Coast Guards have been alerted to meet any further eventuality. The State Industry Minister Mr. Partho Chatterjee and North Bengal Development Minister Mr. Gautam Dev will arrive Darjeeling to assess the extent of damage. Our Patna correspondent reports that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced 1,50,000 compensation for the kin of those killed in the earthquake.
Three members of a family died at Sher Ghati in Gaya district following collapse of roofs of their house. Two persons killed in Patna and Nalanda as wall fell on them. In another incident, two people died in a stampede while running for a safety during earthquake in Darbhanga and Bhagalpur districts of the State. Power production at Kahal Gaon Thermal plant was disrupted for a few hours due to earthquake. Several kucha houses were collapsed in Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Darbhanga and east Champaran districts. In Nepal, at least five persons have been killed and dozens injured. Our correspondent reports that three persons lost their lives when the wall of the British embassy collapsed in Kathmandu and two persons were killed in a house collapse in the eastern town of Dharan.
Kathmandu valley which is more than 200 kilometers from the epicenter of the quake in Sikkim felt the tremors. More than sixty have been reported to have been injured in the capital due to panic. There have been reports of damages to houses and official building across the country and persons injured due to panic after the quake struck . Phone lines were jammed soon after the quake due to congestion and the Parliament which was meeting to pass the Finance bill had to be recessed for fifteen minutes as legislators panicked due to the tremors. Following an emergency meeting of the high level crisis management committee in New Delhi late last night, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth said that the rescue operations had started in the affected areas. The Centre rushed four teams of the National Disaster Rescue Force from New Delhi and another five from Kolkata to Sikkim. The teams comprise 40 members each who are expert at rescue operation. Quoting defence sources, our Correspondent reports, five Indian Air Force aircraft have been pressed into service for the rescue operations carrying personnel of the National Disaster Rescue Force along with equipment for the rescue measures.
Meanwhile, army medical teams have reached the forward areas along the China border to provide treatment to the villagers and instill confidence in them. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police have launched search and rescue operations in Pegong area of north Sikkim and rescued about 200 people. ITBP spokesperson Deepak Pandey told our correspondent that two ITBP buildings collapsed after the state was rocked by the earthquake.
The Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh spoke to the Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling and offered all help. The Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has expressed deep concern and anxiety over the earth quake.

Latur and Osmanabad districts of Maharashtra experienced mild tremors at around 6.24 am this morning. Our Correspondent reports that mild tremors were felt in Latur city and district, measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale. Osmanabad district also experienced mild tremors of the same magnitude today.

In Jharkhand, 20 people have been killed and 25 injured in a road accident on the national highway near Bundu in Ranchi district. The injured have been admitted in a government hospital in Ranchi. The accident occurred late last night when a bus carrying passengers from Jamshedpur to Asra, hit a trailor head on.

In Gujarat, social activist and Danseuse, Mallika Sarabhai along with some riots victims, were detained while protesting against Chief Minister Narendra Modi's goodwill fast. They were protesting the fast in Naroda Patia area of Ahmedabad which had the worst ever communal riots in 2002.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s fast continued on the third day today in Ahmedabad. The protest fast launched by senior congress leaders including Shankarsinh Waghela, will also continue.

In Uttar Pradesh, an alleged trained ISI agent has been arrested by sleuths of the Anti Terrorist Squad, the ATS, of the state police from the Rail Bazar locality in Kanpur yesterday. A police spokesperson told our Lucknow correspondent that he has been identified as Faizal Rehman from Ranchi in Jharkhand. Police said that his wife is a Pakistani national. In Odisha, lakhs of people continue to reel under the impact of the devastating floods. The state government has decided to continue the relief work for seven more days in villages still marooned by the flood water. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed collectors of the flood-hit districts to start restoration and reconstruction work immediately and complete it within 45 days. He has also asked the Collectors to start labour-intensive work in the villages under the Centre-sponsored Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme as the poor have been affected by the flood. देश में कल शाम के शक्तिशाली भूकम्प में मरने वालों की संख्या ४९ हो गयी है। ३५ लोग सिक्किम में, आठ बिहार में, छः लोग पश्चिम बंगाल में मारे गए। नेपाल और तिब्बत में भूकम्प से सात-सात लोगों के मारे जाने की खबर है। इन्हें मिलाकर कुल ६३ लोगों की जानें गई हैं। छह दशमलव आठ की तीव्रता वाले इस भूकम्प में एक सौ से अधिक लोग घायल हुए हैं। प्रभावित इलाकों में राहत और बचाव कार्य तेज+ कर दिए गए । प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने भूकम्प में मारे गए लोगों के परिवारों को दो-दो लाख रूपए की अनुग्रह राशि देने की घोषणा की है। गंभीर रूप से घायल लोगों को एक-एक लाख रूपया दिया जाएगा।
हमारे गंगटोक संवाददाता ने बताया है कि सिक्किम में मरने वालों की संख्या पैंतीस हो गयी है। उत्तरी सिक्किम जिले में सबसे अधिक २४ लोगों की जानें गयीं हैं। पूर्वी जिले में छह, पश्चिमी जिले में चार और दक्षिणी जिले में एक व्यक्ति के मारे जाने की खबर है। कई इमारतों को नुकसान पहुंचा है। मुख्यमंत्री पवन कुमार चामलिंग ने मृतकों के परिवारों को पांच-पांच लाख रूपये की सहायता की घोषणा की है। गंभीर रूप से घायल लोगों को पचास-पचास हजार रूपये और मामूली रूप से घायल लोगों को २५-२५ हजार रूपये की सहायता दी जाएगी।
आज सवेरे उच्च स्तरीय बैठक की अध्यक्षता करने के बाद मुख्यमंत्री पवन चामलिंग ने राजधानी से बाहर जाकर ग्रामीण इलाकों में बचाव तथा राहत कार्यों का मौके पर जायजा लिया। राज्य सरकार ने बचाव तथा राहत कार्यों की निगरानी के लिए गंगटोक में दो नियंत्रण कक्ष स्थापित किए हैं। राहत तथा बचाव कार्यों में जुटी सेना ने भी गंगटोक और चुंगथान में अपने नियंत्रण कक्ष स्थापित किए हैं। सेना के करीब दो हजार जवान राज्यभर में राहत तथा बचाव कार्य कर रहे हैं। करीब एक हजार जवान उत्तर सिक्किम जिले के बर्फ से ढके इलाकों में और करीब एक सौ जवान पूरे सिक्किम जिले के झांगू और थेगू इलाकों में तैनात किए गए हैं। लगभग दो सौ जवान गंगटोक में नागरिकों की मदद कर रहे हैं। सेना के लोगों ने उत्तर सिक्किम जिले में कल १४ पर्यटकों को भी बचाया। सेना द्वारा गंगटोक के पास पेंगला में करीब आठ सौ लोग के रहने और खाने-पीने का इंतजाम किया गया है। विनय राज तिवारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, गंगटोक।
नई दिल्ली में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में गृह सचिव आर के सिंह ने बताया कि केन्द्र सरकार सिक्किम सरकार के साथ लगातार सम्पर्क में है। बिजली की आपूर्ति बहाल कर दी गयी है। चट्टानें गिरने के कारण जो सड़कें बंद हैं, उन्हें शाम तक खोल दिया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया कि राहत और बचाव कार्य जारी है।

हमारे लोग पहले से आर्मी के, आईटीबीपी के एसएसबी लोग पहले से जो वहां पर जो डिपलॉइड है, सिक्किम में और वे लोग कल रात से ही रेसक्यू में लगे हुए हैं।
गृह मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता ओंकार केडिया ने बताया कि राष्ट्रीय आपदा प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण और राष्ट्रीय आपदा राहत बल के कर्मचारियों के साथ अधिकारी सहायता और राहत दलों को वहां भेजने के काम में जुटे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि स्थिति पर लगातार नज+र रखी जा रही है और प्रभावित राज्यों को हर संभव सहायता दी जा रही है।
जहां तक कि मदद का सवाल है हमने पांच एनडीआरएफ की टीम दिल्ली से भेजी है, सिक्किम के लिए। और पांच एनडीआरएफ की टीमें हमने कलकता से भेजी है। इसके अलावा २० डॉक्टरों की एक टीम भी वहां भेजी गई हैं दिल्ली से। और जो आईटीबीपी के सात सौ से ज्यादा जवान है वो भी बचाव कार्य में लगे हुए हैं और लगातार स्थिति पर नजर रखी जा रही है।
आपदा राहत बल के दो सौ तीन कर्मियों के पांच दल आवश्यक साजो-सामान के साथ बागडोगरा पहुंच गए हैं। दो सौ कर्मियों के पांच अन्य दल कोलकाता से भेजे गए हैं। राजमार्ग पर विभिन्न स्थानों पर चट्टानें टूटकर गिरने से रास्ता रूके होने के कारण ये लोग बागडोगरा में फंसे हुए हैं। सड़कों को साफ करने के प्रयास जारी हैं।
सेना के प्रवक्ता कर्नल ए.एस. चौहान ने नई दिल्ली में बताया कि सेना ने सिक्किम में राहत और बचाव कार्यों में सहायता के लिए पांच सौ से अधिक सैनिक और नौ हेलीकॉप्टर भेजे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि उत्तरी सिक्किम में दो जवान भूकम्प में मारे गए हैं और कल रात से लापता तीन वाहनों का पता चल गया है और उनमें सवार जवान सुरक्षित हैं। भूकम्प पीड़ित लोगों को भोजन और अन्य सहायता उपलब्ध कराने में सेना सहायता कर रही है। सेना ने कम से कम दो हजार लोगों को सहायता उपलब्ध करायी है। भूकम्प के कारण इस इलाके में सेना की कुछ इमारतों को भी नुकसान पहुंचा है। भारतीय वायुसेना ने राहत कार्यों के लिए पांच विमान तैनात किए हैं। भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस के सात सौ बारह कर्मी राहत और बचाव कार्यों में पहले ही लगे हुए हैं। भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस ने उत्तरी सिक्किम के पेगोंग इलाके में बारह विदेशी पर्यटकों सहित तीन सौ से अधिक लोगों को बचाया है। भूकम्प में भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस की दो इमारतें गिर गयी हैं।
सीमा सुरक्षा बल ने भी राहत और बचाव कार्यों में अपने विशेषज्ञ कर्मियों को लगाया है।
राष्ट्रीय आपदा प्राधिकरण के संयुक्त सचिव अमित झा का कहना है कि राहत टीमें भेज दी गई हैं और जल्द ही स्थिति पर नियंत्रण कर लिया जाएगा।
दस टीम है, ४०३ लोग हैं, जो एनडीआरएफ के हैं। इसके अलावा वहां पर ७१२ लोग पहले से ही आईटीबीपी के हैं। वो पहले से ही काम कर रहे हैं और आर्मी के ५० टीमों से भी ज्यादा लोग रेसक्यू में लगे हुए हैं वो रोड भी क्लेरेंस कर रहे हैं। दो हजार २५ सौ लोग आर्मी के ऑल रेडी वहां काम कर रहे हैं।
बिहार में नवादा जिले में एक और व्यक्ति की मृत्यु होने से भूकम्प से मरने वालों की संख्या आठ हो गयी है। मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने मृतकों के परिवारों को डेढ़-डेढ़ लाख रूपये की सहायता देने की घोषणा की है। उन्होंने अधिकारियों को भूकम्प से हुए नुकसान का जायजा लेने के निर्देश दिए हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि राज्य सरकार ने भूकम्प के मद्देनज+र सभी थानों, प्रखंड कार्यालयों, अस्पतालों और राष्ट्रीय आपदा सुधार बल को सतर्क रहने के निर्देश दिए हैं।
भूकंप के कारण नेपाल के सीमावर्ती जिलों में काफी कच्चे मकान ध्वंस हो गए। पटना, दरभंगा, मधुबनी और भागलपुर में कई मकान झुक गए। एनटीपीसी के कहलगांव प्लांट में बिजली का उत्पादन कुछ घंटों के लिए ठप्प हो गया। गया की शेर घाटी में मकान का छत्त गिर जाने के कारण एक ही परिवार के तीन लोगों की मौके पर मौत हो गई। पटना, दरबंगा, नालंदा, नवादा और भागलपुर में भूकंप से जुड़ी विभिन्न घटनाओं में पांच लोग मारे गए। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए पटना से कृष्ण कुमार लाल।
पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने राज्य में भूकम्प से मारे गए लोगों के परिजनों को दो-दो लाख रूपये के मुआवजे की घोषणा की है। मुख्यमंत्री ममता बैनर्जी ने बताया कि राज्य में भूकम्प से मरने वालों की संख्या छः हो गयी है और सरकार पीड़ितों को सहायता देने के लिए हरसंभव कदम उठा रही है। सुश्री बैनर्जी भूकम्प से सबसे अधिक प्रभावित दार्जिलिंग जिले के लिए रवाना हो गयी हैं, जहां वे नुकसान का जायजा लेंगी और राहत और बचाव कार्यों की देखरेख करेंगी। मुख्यमंत्री दार्जिलिंग जिले के कर्सियांग में उच्च स्तरीय बैठक में स्थिति की समीक्षा करेंगी। हमारे कोलकाता संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि दार्जिलिंग में भारी वर्षा के कारण राहत और बचाव कार्यों में बाधा आ रही है। आपदा प्रबंधन दल के सदस्य कर्सियांग, कलिंगपोंग और सिलीगुढ़ी सब डिवीजनों में राहत कार्यों में लगे हैं। दार्जिलिंग पहाड़ों के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में इमारतों और सड़कों पर दरारें आने और भूस्खलन होने की खबरें मिली हैं। हमारे कोलकाता संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि उत्तरी बंगाल से सिक्किम को जोड़ने वाले राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग ३१-ए और ३१-सी, बंद हैं। बड़ी संख्या में पर्यटक और वाहन सड़कों पर फंसे हुए हैं।
नेपाल में कल के भूकम्प से मरने वालों की संख्या सात हो गयी है। आज दो और लोगों के मरने की खबर मिली है। ये मौतें धारन और संखमसभा में हुईं। कल काठमांडू में तीन और धारन में दो लोगों की मृत्यु हुई थी। काठमांडू में साठ से अधिक लोगों के घायल होने की खबर है। नेपाल के गृहमंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता ने आकाशवाणी को बताया कि भूकम्प से हुए नुकसान का ब्यौरा प्राप्त किया जा रहा है। पूर्वी सीमावर्ती जिले टेपलजंग में पचास मकानों और दफ्तरों को भारी नुकसान होने की खबर है। स्थानीय टेलीविजन चैनल ने खबर दी है कि इस जिले में छह लोगघायल हुए हैं।

कर्नाटक के पूर्व मंत्री और खनन व्यवसायी जी. जर्नादन रेड्डी और ओबलापुरम खनन निगम के प्रबंध निदेशक श्रीनिवास रेड्डी को तीन अक्तूबर तक न्यायिक हिरासत में दे दिया गया है। इन दोनों को आज सुबह हैदराबाद में सी बी आई की विशेष अदालत में पेश किया गया। कल उनकी छह दिन की सी बी आई हिरासत की अवधि समाप्त हो गयी थी। हमारे संवाद्दाता ने खबर दी है कि इन दोनों को स्थानीय जेल में भेज दिया गया है।

कर्नाटक में सी बी आई ने आज बेल्लारी के निकट होसपेट में खनन व्यवसायी जर्नादन रेड्डी के नजदीकी सहयोगियों के आवासों पर छापे मारे। रेड्डी बंधुओं के सहयोगी माने जाने वाले करापुडी महेश और स्वास्तिक नागराज के आवासों की आज तड़के सी बी आई की एक टीम ने तलाशी ली। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि अवैध खनन पर लोकायुक्त की रिपोर्ट में कहा गया था कि इन दोनों ने रेड्डी बंधुओं को गलत तरीके से पैसा कमाने में सहायता की।
पर्यावरण प्रभाव अध्ययन दल ने आज बेल्लारी जिले के तुम्टी आरक्षित वन क्षेत्र का दौरा किया। इस दल से बेल्लारी जिले में खनन के कारण पर्यावरण पर पड़ रहे प्रभाव के बारे में अपनी रिपोर्ट देने को कहा गया है।
इस बीच रेड्डी बंधुओं के नजदीकी सहयोगी श्रीरामुलु पिछले दो दिनों से अनशन पर हैं। वे केन्द्र सरकार से स्पॉन्ज लौह अयस्क उत्पादन इकाइयों को कच्चे माल की आपूर्ति की अनुमति देने की मांग कर रहे हैं।

पाकिस्तान के कराची शहर में आज पुलिस अधिकारियों को निशाना बनाकर किए गए एक आत्मघाती हमले में कम से कम आठ लोगों के मारे जाने की खबर है। मरने वालों में कई सुरक्षा गार्ड भी बताए जा रहे हैं। कराची शहर के पुलिस प्रमुख सौद मिजर्+ा ने बताया है कि यह हमला वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधीक्षक चौधरी मोहम्मद असलम के निवास को निशाना बनाकर किया गया था। वे बाल बाल बच गए लेकिन उनके घर का बड़ा हिस्सा नष्ट हो गया है और परिवार के कुछ लोग मलबे में फंसे हुए हैं। पुलिस सूत्रों के अनुसार उनके घर के बाहर विस्फोट से एक बड़ा गड्ढा बन गया जिससे यह अंदाजा लगाया जा सकता है कि विस्फोट कितना शक्तिशाली था। विस्फोट से आसपास के घरों और कारों की शीशे टूट गए। पुलिस ने इस हमले के लिए तालिबान को जि+म्मेदार बताया है।

अफगानिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति हामिद करजई आज न्यूयॉर्क के लिए रवाना हुए जहां वे इस हफ्‌ते संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा की बैठक में भाग लेंगे। काबुल में राष्ट्रपति के कार्यालय से जारी की गई प्रेस विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार श्री करजई महासभा में बुधवार को भाषण देंगे। इस मौके पर अलग से उनकी अमरीकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा से भी मुलाकात होगी। श्री ओबामा द्वारा अफगानिस्तान से अमरीकी सैनिक हटाने की घोषणा किए जाने के बाद दोनों नेताओं की यह पहली बैठक होगी जिसमें वे सुरक्षा व्यवस्था के हस्तांतरण की मौजूदा प्रक्रिया पर विचार विमर्श करेंगे। पहले चरण में नैटो के सैनिक सात स्थानों पर सुरक्षा की जिम्मेदारी अफगान सुरक्षा बलों को सौंप चुके हैं। निर्धारित कार्यक्रम के अनुसार सभी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सैनिक २०१४ तक अफगानिस्तान से चले जाएंगे।

यमन के आतंरिक मामलों के मंत्री मोटाहार रशद-अल-मसरी ने कहा है कि राजधानी साना में कल प्रदर्शनकारियों पर एक गुट ने गोलियां चलाई जिससे ६५ लोग घायल हो गये। यमन के सरकारी टेलीविजन को उन्होंने बताया कि बातचीत में बाधा डालने के लिए बिना अनुमति जुलूस निकाले गये। इस दौरान सरकारी प्रतिष्ठानों पर हमला किया गया और बिजली संयंत्रों को जला दिया गया।
इस बीच, अल अरबिया चैनल ने प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों और डॉक्टरों के हवाले से खबर दी है कि यमन के सुरक्षाबलों ने गोलियां चलाकर कम से कम २६ प्रदर्शनकारियों को मार डाला और करीब एक हजार व्यक्ति घायल हो गये। सुरक्षाबलों ने राष्ट्रपति अली अब्दुल्ला सालेह के खिलाफ हाल के महीनों के इस सबसे बड़े प्रदर्शन को विफल करने के लिए यह गोलीबारी की।
उधर, देश के रक्षा मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि प्रदर्शनकारियों ने पेट्रोल बम फेंके, जिससे पुलिस की एक कार में आग लग गई। मंत्रालय ने आरोप लगाया है कि प्रमुख इस्लामी विपक्षी दल इस्लाह के सदस्यों ने प्रदर्शनकारियों पर गोलियां चलाईं।

नेपाल के प्रधानमंत्री बाबूराम भट्टराई संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा के ६६वें सत्र में भाग लेने के लिए कल रात काठमांडु से न्यूयॉर्क रवाना हो गए। श्री भट्टराई के साथ १३ सदस्यीय एक शिष्टमंडल भी गया है जिसमें उपप्रधानमंत्री, विदेश मंत्री नारायण कजी श्रेष्ठा और अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी शामिल हैं। इस महीने की २४ तारीख को संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा को संबोधित करेंगे। एक प्रेस विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार श्री भट्टराई के इस सम्मेलन में नेपाल की शांति प्रक्रिया में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सहयोग की अपील करने की संभावना है। नेपाल के प्रधानमंत्री का संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान-की मून और विश्व के अन्य नेताओं से भी मिलने का भी कार्यक्रम है।

बम्बई शेयर बाजार के शुरूआती कारोबार में आज सेन्सेक्स में १६१ अंक की गिरावट आयी। एशियाई बाजारों में गिरावट के रूख और यूरो जोन ऋण संकट की आशंकाओं के मद्देनज+र बाजार में यह गिरावट आयी। सेन्सेक्स में पिछले तीन सत्रों में ४६३ से अधिक अंकों की बढ़त दर्ज की गयी थी। अब से कुछ देर पहले सेन्सेक्स २१० अंक गिरकर १६ हजार ७२३ पर था।
नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का निफ्टी भी ६० अंक की गिरावट के साथ ५ हजार २३ पर आ गया।
उधर अन्तरबैंक विदेशी मुद्राबाजार में डॉलर के मुकाबले रूपया ४७ पैसे कमजोर हुआ। एक डॉलर की कीमत ४७ रूपये ७३ पैसे बोली गयी।

एशियाई बाजारो में आज कच्चे तेल के भाव तेज+ी से गिरे। न्यूयॉर्क के लाइट स्वीट क्रूड के दाम एक डॉलर १८ सेंट गिरकर ८६ डॉलर ७८ सेंट प्रति बैरल हो गया। लंदन का ब्रेंट नॉर्थ सी क्रूड भी ९५ सेंट सस्ता हुआ और एक बैरल १११ डॉलर २७ सेंट का बोला गया।

सरकार ने आज अगस्त महीने का उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक जारी किया जो जुलाई से एक दशमलव एक आठ प्रतिशत अधिक है। खुदरा मूल्य पर आधारित उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक, जुलाई में ११० दशमलव चार अंकों के मुकाबले अगस्त में १११ दशमलव सात अंक पर रहा। सब्जियों की कीमतों में मुख्य रूप से बढ़ोत्तरी देखी गई। इसमें सूचकांक हर महीने चार दशमलव छह एक प्रतिशत की वृद्धि के साथ ११३ दशमलव चार अंक हो गया जबकि दूध और इससे बने उत्पादों तथा फलों में एक प्रतिशत तक की वृद्धि हुई। इसी तरह तेल और वसा में एक दशमलव दो सात प्रतिशत की वृद्धि हुई और यह ११९ दशमलव पांच अंक पर पहुंच गया। अगस्त में सामान्य सूचकांक ग्रामीण उपभोक्ताओं के लिए ११३ दशमलव एक अंक और शहरी उपभोक्ताओं के लिए १०९ दशमलव आठ अंक पर रहा।

वर्ष २०२०-२१ तक देश में खाद्यानों की मांग २८ करोड़ टन तक पहुंचने की संभावना है। कृषि मंत्रालय में संयुक्त सचिव एस के जी राहते ने आज नई दिल्ली में एक सेमीनार में बताया कि सरकार कई नई पहल कर इस लक्ष्य को प्राप्त करने के लिए वचनबद्ध है। उन्होंने कहा कि पिछले साल अच्छे मानसून के मद्देनजर देश में खाद्यानों की रिकॉर्ड पैदावार हुई और गेहू तथा दालों का उत्पादन सबसे ऊंचे स्तर पर पहुंच गया। श्री राहते ने कहा कि कृषि क्षेत्र भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है, क्योंकि इससे तकरीबन ५८ फीसदी लोगों को रोजगार उपलब्ध होता है। इसके अलावा सकल घरेलू उत्पाद में भी १४ फीसदी से ज्यादा योगदान मिलता है।

राष्ट्रपति श्रीमती प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील ने कहा है कि केवल मूल्यों पर आधारित व्यवस्था ही युवकों संवेदनशील बनने के लिए तैयार कर सकती है। वे अजमेर में मेयो गर्ल्स स्कूल के रजत जयंती समारोह का उद्घाटन कर रहीं थीं। श्रीमती पाटील ने कहा कि मूल्यों से ही जीवन का आधार प्राप्त होता है और फैसले लेने में मदद मिलती है। उन्होंने कहा कि छात्रों में रचनात्मक सोच विकसित करने के लिए अध्यापन के तौर-तरीकों से ही २१वीं शताब्दी की उपलब्धियों को पारिभाषित किया जाएगा।

पुदुचेरी में इंदिरानगर विधानसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र के उपचुनाव के लिए आज अधिसूचना जारी कर दी गई है। पर्चे भरने का काम शुरू हो गया है जो इस महीने की २६ तारीख तक चलेगा। उपचुनाव अगले महीने की १३ तारीख को होगा। मुख्यमंत्री एन रंगास्वामी के दो निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों से चुने जाने के बाद, इंदिरानगर निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से इस्तीफा दिए जाने पर उपचुनाव कराया जा रहा है। उपचुनाव में बहुकोणीय मुकाबला होने की संभावना है। ऑल इंडिया अन्ना डीएमके ने अपने उम्मीदवार की पहले ही घोषणा कर दी है जबकि ऑल इंडिया एनआर कांग्रेस और कांग्रेस पार्टी को अपने-अपने उम्मीदवार की घोषणा करनी है।

तमिलनाडु में अगले महीने की १३ तारीख को होने वाले तिरूचिरापल्ली पश्चिम विधानसभा के उपचुनाव के लिए आज नामांकन भरने का काम शुरू हो गया है। २६ सितंबर तक पर्चे भरे जा सकेंगे जिनकी अगले दिन ही जांच होगी। १७ अक्टूबर को मतगणना होगी और उसी दिन नतीजे घोषित कर दिए जाएंगे। मौजूदा विधायक और राज्य के पर्यावरण मंत्री मरियमपीचई की २३ मई को सड़क दुर्घटना में मृत्यु हो जाने के कारण खाली हुई इस सीट पर उपचुनाव कराए जा रहे हैं। सत्तारूढ़ ऑल इंडिया एडीएमके ने परमज्योति को अपना उम्मीदवार पहले ही घोषित कर दिया है। डीएमके प्रमुख करूणानिधि ने कहा कि उनकी पार्टी ने इस उपचुनाव में अपना उम्मीदवार उतारने का अभी फैसला नहीं किया है।

मध्य प्रदेश में सड़कों की बुरी हालत को लेकर मुख्य विपक्षी दल कांग्रेस ने आज जिला और प्रखंड स्तर पर धरना दिया। प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष कांति लाल भूरिया ने जबलपुर में प्रदर्शनकारियों का नेतृत्व किया। पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और कांग्रेस महासचिव दिग्विजय सिंह इन्दौर में धरने पर बैठे। कांग्रेस का आरोप है कि राज्य के ४८ राजमार्गो और शहरों तथा कस्बों की सड़कों की हालत बहुत खराब है।

केरल में वामदलों और भाजपा की पैट्रोल के दामों में वृद्धि के विरोध में दिन भर की हड़ताल के कारण जनजीवन प्रभावित है। दुकानें और व्यापारिक प्रतिष्ठान बंद हैं, जबकि सरकारी दफ्तरों में कर्मचारियों की उपस्थिति कम है। विश्वविद्यालय और संघ लोक सेवा आयोग की परीक्षाएं रद्द कर दी गयी हैं। राज्य के कुछ जिलों में पथराव की घटनाओं के कारण राज्य परिवहन निगम की बसें नहीं चल रही हैं। दुपहिया वाहनों को छोड़कर अन्य निजी वाहन भी सड़कों पर दिखाई नहीं दे रहे हैं।

गुजरात में पाकिस्तान के उच्चतम न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश नसीर असलम जाहिद के नेतृत्व में एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने सौराष्ट्र क्षेत्र के मछली पकड़ने के स्थानों का दौरा किया। न्यायमूर्ति नसीर असलम जाहिद ने भारत और पाकिस्तान की जेलों में बंद बेगुनाह मछुआरों के बारे चिंता प्रकट की और उनको तुरंत रिहा करने की मांग की। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि पाकिस्तानी प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने दीउ, वेरवाल, मंगरौल और पोरबंदर के मछुआरों से मुलाकात की।

झारखंड के मुख्यमंत्री अर्जुन मुंडा ने कल देर रात हुई एक बस दुर्घटना में मरने वालों के परिजनों को दो-दो लाख रुपये की अनुग्रह राशि देने की घोषणा की है। यें दुर्घटना रांची के निकट बुंडू में हुई, जिसमें बीस लोगों की मौत हो गई और २५ व्यक्ति घायल हुए। ये बस जमशेदरपुर से बिहार में आरा जा रही थी और उसकी एक ट्रेलर से टक्कर हो गई। बस में ४५ मुसाफिर थे। घायलों को राची के राजेन्द्र चिकित्सा विज्ञान संस्थान में दाखिल किया गया है।

उत्तर प्रदेश में आगरा के एक निजी अस्पताल में हुए बम विस्फोट में पटाखों वाला मिश्रण इस्तेमाल किया गया था। पुलिस ने बताया कि आगरा की फॉरेंसिक जांच प्रयोगशाला की शुरूआती रिपोर्ट के अनुसार इसमें पोटैशियम क्लोराइड, सल्फर, चारकोल होने के संकेत मिले हैं, जबकि धमाका करने लिए नौ वोल्ट की छह बैटरियों और देसी डिवाइस का इस्तेमाल किया गया। अब तक यह स्पष्ट नहीं हो सका है कि बम विस्फोट किस वजह से किया गया।
हमारे लखनऊ संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा गार्ड-एनएसजी और राज्य पुलिस के आतंकवाद निरोधी दस्ते एटीएस और विशेष कार्य बल एसटीएफ ने धमाके की जांच शुरू कर दी है। अब तक इस मामले में कोई गिरफ्तारी नहीं हुई है और न ही किसी को हिरासत में लिया गया है। पुलिस ने हरि पर्वत थाने में अज्ञात लोगों के खिलाफ प्राथमिकी दर्ज की है। पुलिस ने विस्फोट की सुराग देने वालों के लिए इनाम की राशि पचास हजार रुपये से बढ़ाकर एक लाख रुपये कर दी है।

कोलकाता स्थित राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा गार्ड कमांडो केन्द्र जल्द ही पूरी तरह काम करना शुरू कर देगा। गृह मंत्री पी चिदम्बरम बुधवार को इस केन्द्र में बुनियादी सुविधाओं का उद्घाटन करेंगे। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि आतंक विरोधी और अपहरण जैसी समस्याओं से निपटने की कार्रवाई के लिए २४१ वाले दल के कमांडों का यह केन्द्र अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे के पास बाडु में २० एकड़ के क्षेत्रफल में फैला हुआ है।

सरकार ने देश में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश के लिए २४२ करोड़ रूपए से अधिक के १२ प्रस्तावों को मंजूरी दे दी है। सरकारी सूत्रों के अनुसार इन प्रस्तावों में सैनिक और असैन्य हेलीकॉप्टर तैयार करने के लिए इंडियन रोटोक्राफट्स का एक प्रस्ताव भी शामिल है।

ओड़िशा में लाखों लोग अब भी बाढ़ की मार झेल रहे हैं। राज्य सरकार ने अब भी बाढ़ के पानी में डूबे हुये गांवों में राहत कार्य सात दिन और जारी रखने का फैसला किया है। मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक ने बाढ़ग्रस्त जिलों के जिलाधिकारियों को निर्देश दिया है कि वे पुनर्निर्माण और मरम्मत का काम तुरंत शुरू करें और ४५ दिन के भीतर पूरा कर दें। उन्होंने जिलाधिकारियों से यह भी कहा है कि केंद्र प्रायोजित महात्मा गांधी राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण रोजगार गारंटी योजना के तहत गांवों में ऐसे काम शुरू करें जिनमें लोगों को मजदूरी मिल सके क्योंकि बाढ़ से गरीब लोगों पर असर पड़ा है।

The death toll in last evening's earthquake has risen to 49 in India. 35 people have died in Sikkim in last evening's powerful earthquake, eight in Bihar and six in West Bengal. Seven each are reported to have been killed in Nepal and Tibet with the total toll in the quake rising to 63. Over a hundred people have been injured in the 6.8 magnitude quake. Rescue and relief operations were today stepped up in the affected areas. The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has announced two lakh rupees as ex-gratia to next of kin of those killed in the earthquake. One lakh rupees will be given to those seriously injured. In Sikkim, the death toll rose to 35 with North District reporting 24 deaths. Six deaths have been reported from East district, West Sikkim-4 and South One. Many buildings have been damaged. The Chief Minister, Mr. Pawan Kumar Chamling has announced an ex-gratia payment of five lakh rupees each to the next of the kin of each of the deceased persons. He has also announced a financial assistance of 50,000 each for the seriously injured persons and 25,000 rupees each to the persons with minor injuries. Talking to reporters in New Delhi , the Home Secretary Mr. R.K. Singh said, the Centre is in constant touch with the Sikkim government on the developing situation. The power supply has been restored and the roads which were blocked due to land slide will be cleared by the evening.
Omkar Kedia, spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs said, officials along with National Disaster Management Authority, NDMA and the National Disaster Response Force, NDRF personnel have been working round to mobilize and facilitate response teams. He said, the situation is being closely monitored and every possible assistance is being extended to the States. 5 Teams of NDRF consisting of 203 personnel along with necessary rescue equipment have reached Bagdogra while another five teams of 200 personnel have been sent from Kolkata. They are held up at Bagdogra due to landslides causing road blockage at various places on the highway. Efforts are on to clear the roads. Army spokesperson Colonel A.S. Chauhan said in New Delhi that over 5,000 troops and nine helicopters have been dispatched by the army to carry out rescue and relief operations in quake-hit Sikkim. 5,000 troops in 105 columns and four ALH Dhruv and five Cheetah helicopters have been deployed in the relief operations by the army in the state. He said two jawans were killed in north Sikkim while the three vehicles missing since last night have been located and the troops in them are safe. The army formations in the state have been engaged in providing food and shelter to people in affected areas. At least 2,000 people have been provided help by the army. In Bihar, one more person succumbed to his injuries today in Nawada district taking the death toll to eight . Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced an exgratia payment of rupees one lakh fifty thousand rupee for the kin of those killed in the earthquake. Mr. Kumar has instructed officials to assess the damage caused due to earthquake. AIR Patna correspondent reports that several kutcha houses collapsed in adjoining districts of Nepal due to tremors.

The West Bengal government has announced two lakh rupees compensation to the next of kin of the victim in the earthquake related incidents in the state. Chief Minister Ms. Mamta Banerjee informed that the death toll in the tremor has gone up to six in the state and the government is taking all possible steps to help marooned people. Ms. Banerjee left for worst quake hit Darjeeling district to assess the extent of damage and to supervise relief and rescue operation. The Chief Minister will review the situation at a high level meeting at Kurseong in Darjeeling district this afternoon. Our Kolkata correspondent reports that relief and rescue work are hampered in Darjeeling due to heavy rain. Personnel of Disaster Management Team have been engaged in Kurseong, Kalimpong and Siliguri sub-division for relief work. Landslides and crack in building have been reported from these areas. National highway No.31-A and 31-C connecting Sikkim from North Bengal have been closed. Many tourists and large number of vehicles are stranded on the road. In Nepal, the death toll has risen to seven with two more deaths reported today. The deaths took place in Dharan and Sankhumsabha. In Kathmandu, more than sixty persons have been injured following the quake. Home Ministry spokesman told AIR that details of the damages across the country are still being collected. In the eastern bordering Taplejung district, there are reports of extensive damages of fifty houses and offices. Local TV Channel reports said six persons have been injured in the district. PTI reports that seven people have died in Tibet.

Former Karnataka Minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy and Obulapuram Mining Corporation Managing Director Srinivas Reddy have been remanded to judicial custody till the 3rd of next month. Both the Reddys were produced before the Special Court for the CBI in Hyderabad this morning after their six-day CBI custody expired yesterday. In Karnataka, the Central Bureau of Investigation CBI conducted raids on the house of close associates of mining baron Janardhan Reddy in Hospet near Bellary today. Karapudi Mahesh and Swastik Nagaraj, who are regarded as associates of the Reddy brothers, were searched by a CBI team early this morning. Our Bellary Correspondent adds that the Lokayuktha report on illegal mining had pointed out that these associates helped the Reddy brothers in collecting money through nefarious means. The team has been directed to submit its report on impact of mining on environment in Bellary district within three months. The NSG commando hub at Kolkata will soon be fully operationalised. Home Minsiter P Chidamabaram will inaugurate the infrastructure facilities on Wednesday. Our correspondent reports, the 20-acre hub at 'Badu' near the international airport houses a squad of 241 crack commandos for anti-terror and counter-hijack operations. The hub has permanent buildings and commando barracks along with infrastructure for administrative and other works, constructed by the National Buildings Construction Corporation of India. The decision to deploy NSG commandos at strategic locations in the country and reduce their strike time for conducting swift anti-terror operations was taken in the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008. Four NSG hubs have been created in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata.

The demand of foodgrains in the country is expected to touch 280 million tonnes by the year 2020-21. Speaking at a seminar in New Delhi today Joint Secretary in the Agricultural Ministry S.K.G.Rahate said that the government is committed to achieve this target by adopting several new initiatives. In Pakistan, at least seven persons were killed and several others wounded today when a suspected car bomb went off outside the residence of a senior police officer in Karachi. The blast, which went off at 7.30 am, targeted the home of Special Superintendent of Police of Crime Investigation Department in the posh Defence area. Geo News channel reports that the police officer who escaped unhurt, told the media that several of his police guards were among the dead. He said, he had received threats from the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan. The officer and his family were shifted to an undisclosed location. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Nepal’s Prime Minister, Baburam Bhattarai left Kathmandu for New York last night to attend the 66th session of the UN General Assembly. Mr. Bhattarai is leading a 13-member delegation which includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha and senior officials of the government. Mr. Bhattarai is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on the 24th of this month. Afghan President Hamid Karzai today left for New York to attend United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York this week. According to a press release issued by the President’s Office in Kabul today President Karzai is scheduled to deliver a speech on Wednesday in the General Assembly. He will also meet the U.S. President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the General Assembly. This will be the first meeting of the two leaders since President Obama has laid out his plans for the drawdown of US troops from Afghanistan. Yemen’s Minister of Interior, Motahar Rashad al-Masri has said that 65 people have been wounded when a group had opened fire on protesters in Capital Sana yesterday. He told the official Yemen TV that unlicensed marches were organised to derail the dialogue and state institutions attacked and power plants were burned during the march. Meanwhile Al Arabia channel quoting witnesses and doctors has reported that at least 26 protesters were killed and nearly thousand others injured when Yemeni security forces opened fire to break up one of the biggest demonstrations against President Ali Abdullah Saleh in recent months. Country’s Defence ministry has however said that protesters threw petrol bombs, setting a police car ablaze. It blamed leading Islamist opposition party, Islah, for opening fire on the march.

The government has cleared 12 proposals for foreign direct investment, FDI in the country worth a total of over 242 crore rupees. According to the official sources these proposals include one from Indian Rotorcraft to carry out the assembly of both military and civil helicopters. The Foreign Investment Promotion Board, FIPB deferred decisions on 15 FDI proposals, including those of Vodafone Essar and Bangladesh-based Rahimafrooz Batteries, and rejected seven applications. At the last FIPB meeting last month, FDI proposals worth 122.79 crore rupees were approved. The next meeting of the FIPB will be held on 30 of this month.

Government today released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month of August which is 1.18 per cent higher than that of July. The CPI based on retail prices stood at 111.7 points in August, compared to 110.4 points in July. The main increase was seen in the prices of vegetables, with the index rising by 4.61 per cent month-on-month to 113.4 points, while the indices for milk and milk products and fruits went up by over 1 per cent each. Similarly, the index for oils and fats went up by 1.27 per cent to 119.5 points. vis-a-vis the previous month. The general index for rural and urban consumers stood at 113.1 points and 109.8 points, respectively, in August.

कल शाम आए भीषण भूकंप से मरने वालों की संख्या पचास हो गई है। सिक्किम में ३५, बिहार में आठ और पश्चिम बंगाल में सात लोगों की जान गई हैं।
नेपाल में मरने वाले लोगों की संख्या अब छह बतायी जा रही है। तिब्बत में सात व्यक्तियों के मरने की खबर है। भूकम्प में मरने वालों की कुल संख्या ६३ हो गई है। एक सौ से ज्यादा लोग घायल हुए हैं।
केंद्रीय गृह सचिव आर के सिंह ने नई दिल्ली में पत्रकारों को बताया कि सिक्किम में भूंकपग्रस्त लोगों के लिए हैलीकॉप्टरों से खाने के पैकेट गिराए जाने लगे है। खराब मौसम के बावजूद डॉक्टरों और चिकित्सा कर्मचारियों के दो दल हैलीकॉप्टर से मंगन और सिंगतम में पहुंचा दिए गए हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि भूकंप से सबसे अधिक प्रभावित उत्तरी जिले में राहत और बचाव कार्यों के लिए नौ हैलीकॉप्टर लगाए गए हैं।

हमारे संवाददाता ने रक्षा मंत्रालय के सूत्रों के हवाले से बताया है कि पांच हजार से अधिक जवान, छह परिवहन विमान और १५ हैलीकॉप्टर राहत कार्यों में लगा दिए गए हैं।
रक्षा प्रवक्ता कर्नल ए एस चौहान ने बताया है कि गंगटोक से उत्तरी सिक्किम जाने वाली सड़क कई जगहों पर टूट गई है। उस इलाके में सेना की तीन बटालियन और भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस की एक बटालियन के साढ़े चार हजार से अधिक जवान मौजूद हैं। कर्नल चौहान ने बताया कि उनसे हैलीकॉप्टर के जरिए सम्पर्क हो गया है। सड़क चालू करने का काम जारी हैं। ये सड़क चीन की सीमा के साथ लगते इलाकों तक पहुंचने के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है।
इधर, वायु सेना के दो मी-१७ हैलीकॉप्टर राहत सामग्री और आपदा राहत बल के कर्मचारियों को लेकर उत्तरी सिक्किम में लाचेन और मंगन गए हैं। सीमा सड़क संगठन ने सिक्किम की जीवन रेखा कहा जाने वाला राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग-३१ ए फिर खोल दिया है।
इससे पहले, प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने मृतकों के परिजनों को दो-दो लाख रूपए की सहायता देने की घोषणा की है। गंभीर रूप से घायल लोगों को एक-एक लाख रूपए दिए जाएंगे।
हमारे गंगटोक संवाददाता ने बताया है कि सबसे ज्यादा २४ लोग उत्तरी जिले में मारे गए हैं। कई इमारतें नष्ट हो गई हैं। मुख्यमंत्री पवन कुमार चामलिंग ने प्रत्येक मृतक के परिजनों को पांच-पांच लाख रूपए सहायता देने की घोषणा की है। गंभीर रूप से घायल व्यक्तियों को ५०-५० हजार रूपए और मामूली रूप से घायलों को २५-२५ हजार रूपए दिए जाएंगे।
राज्य सरकार के अनुसार करीब एक हजार मकान ध्वस्त हो गये हैं। जबकि करीब एक लाख मकान आंशिक रूप से क्षतिग्रस्त हुए हैं। राज्य सरकार ने एक उच्च स्तरीय राहत सीमित बनाई है। जो चारों जिलों का दौरा करके राहत तथा बचाव कार्यों के मामले में फौरन कार्रवाई करेगी। मुख्यमंत्री स्वयं भी व्यक्तिगत रूप से सभी चार जिलों का दौरा करेंगे और समुचित राहत उपाय सुनिश्चित करेंगे। राज्य सरकार ने राहत तथा बचाव कार्यों की देखरेख के लिए गंगटोक में दो नियंत्रण कक्ष खोले हैं। राहत तथा बचाव के काम में सेना भी जुट गई है। इस बीच सिक्किम को देश भर से जोड़ने वाला राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग २१-ए आज दोपहर से गाड़ियों के आने जाने के लिए फिर से खोल दिया गया है। विनय राज तिवारी आकाशवाणी समाचार गंगटोक।
बिहार में कल एक और घायल व्यक्ति के दम तोड़ देने से भूकंप से मरने वालों की संख्या आठ हो गई हैं। मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने मृतकों के परिजनों को डेढ़-डेढ़ लाख रूपए की सहायता देने की घोषणा की है।
पश्चिम बंगाल में भूकंप से मरने वालों की संख्या सात हो गई है। दार्जिलिंग, जलपाईगुडी और उत्तरी दीनाजपुर जिले में भूकंप से सबसे अधिक नुकसान हुआ है। राज्य सरकार ने मृतकों के परिवारों के लिए दो-दो लाख रूपए और घायलों को पचास-पचास हजार रूपए की सहायता देने की घोषणा की है।

वोट के बदले नोट मामले में दिल्ली की अदालत ने राज्यसभा सदस्य अमर सिंह की अंतरिम जमानत स्वास्थ्य के आधार पर २७ सितंबर तक बढ़ा दी है। अमर सिंह को २००८ के वोट के बदले नोट कांड में कथित रूप से शामिल होने के आरोप में गिरतार किया गया था। आज समाप्त हो रही अमर सिंह की अंतरिम जमानत की अवधि आगे बढ़ाते हुए विशेष जज संगीता ढींगरा सहगल ने वरिष्ठ भाजपा नेता लाल कृष्ण आडवाणी के पूर्व सहयोगी सुधींद्र कुलकर्णी को भी २७ सितंबर को हर हाल में अदालत में हाजिर होने को कहा। वे इस मामले में सहआरोपी हैं।

वित्तमंत्रालय ने राजनीतिक दलों को मिलने वाले चंदे पर नजर रखने के लिए एक विशेष जांच इकाई-एस.आई.यू. गठित की है। ये चुनाव से संबंधित खर्चों पर नजर रखेगी और राजनीतिक चंदे का नियमन करेगी। इसमें पार्टियों को मिली छूट की भी जांच करना शामिल है। वित्तमंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने हाल में एस.आई.यू. के गठन को मंजूरी दी थी।

केंद्रीय सतर्कता आयुक्त ने भ्रष्टाचार की गतिविधियों में शामिल होने के आरोप में १६५ अधिकारियों के खिलाफ भारी जुर्माना लगाने की सिफारिश की है। इनमें विभिन्न मंत्रालयों के कर्मचारियों के अलावा बैंकों के कर्मचारी भी शामिल हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने सरकारी सूत्रों के हवाले से बताया है कि सी.वी.सी. ने कुछ विभागों की तकनीकी जांच के बाद छह करोड़ रुपये की वसूली भी की है। आयोग ने इस वर्ष जुलाई में एक हजार छह सौ ८१ मामले निपटाए।

एशिया और यूरोपीय बाजारों में गिरावट के बीच मुम्बई के शेयर बाजार में आज सेंसेक्स तीन दिन की बढत के बाद १८८ अंक गिरकर १६ हजार ७४५ पर बंद हुआ। नेशनल स्टाक एक्सचेंज का निफटी ५२ अंक फिसलकर पांच हजार ३२ पर जा पहुंचा। देश में रूपये के ५५ पैसे कमजोरे होने के बाद एक डालर का मूल्य ४७ रूपये ८२ पैसे रहा। दिल्ली के सर्राफा बाजार में सोना साढे चार सौ रूपये मंहगा होकर २८ हजार ६१० रूपये प्रति दस ग्राम हो गया जबकि चांदी का मूल्य ६०० रूपये बढकर ६५ हजार रूपये प्रति किलो पर जा पहुंचा।

The death toll in yesterday's earthquake has risen to 50 in India. 35 people have died in Sikkim, eight in Bihar and seven in West Bengal. The death toll in Nepal has been revised to 6 while in Tibet seven deaths have been reported. With this, toll in the quake has risen to 63. Over a hundred people have been injured in the 6.8 magnitude quake. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Home Secretary R. K. Singh confirmed that the death toll in Sikkim has risen to 35. He said that 10 bodies have been recovered from Teesta Hydropower project at Chungthang by the Indo-Tibet Border Police. Detailing the restoration work being undertaken by various agencies, the Home Secretary said that road to Gangtok has been opened to traffic besides power has been restored in the city. He said the Government has started air dropping of food to earthquake-affected people in Sikkim. The Home Secretary said two medical teams with doctors and paramedics have reached worst affected Mangan and Sangthan with the help of helicopters .He ,however expressed anxiety over the fact that some people may still be trapped under the debris. He said, nine helicopters were engaged in carrying out rescue and relief operations -- mostly in the worst-hit North district despite poor weather and one team of doctors reached Mangan and another Singtam through helicopters.
Quoting defence sources AIR correspondent reports,over 5,000 troops, six transport aircraft and a total of 15 helicopters have been deployed by the armed forces in the quake hit Sikkim to carry out relief operations. Two army personnel died in the quake near Zima in North Sikkim while a Junior Engineer of BRO was reported killed during rescue operation. Earlier, the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh announced two lakh rupees as ex-gratia to next of kin of those killed in the earthquake. One lakh rupees will be given to those seriously injured. Our Gangtok correspondent reports the North Sikkim district accounts for the maximum deaths i.e twenty four, followed by six in East, four in West and one death in South district. More than one hundred injured persons have been admitted to various hospitals. The Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling has announced an ex- gratia payment of five lakhs rupees for the next of kin of each of the deceased persons. A financial assistance of 50,000 rupees each will be given for grievous injuries while 25,000 rupees each will be given for minor injuries. More from our Gangtok correspondent:
"A high level meeting was held under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister at his official residence at Mintogang in the capital today to review the situation. According to the StateGovernment about 1000 houses and buildings have collapsed while 1,00,000 houses and buildings have been partially damaged. The Government has constituted a high level relief team that will visit all the four districts and take immediate action on relief and restoration works. The Chief Minister himself will be personally touring all the four districts and dispense with relief measures. The National Highway 31-A has again been opened for vehicular traffic from this afternoon. In Bihar, one more person succumbed to his injuries today in Nawada district taking the death toll to eight. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced an exgratia payment of rupees one lakh fifty thousand for the kin of those killed in earthquake. In West Bengal, the death toll in earthquake related incidents has gone up to seven. The State Disaster Management Minister Javed Khan told newspersons in Kolkata this afternoon that, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and North Dinajpur Districts have been badly affected by the quake. The State Government has sanctioned 5 lakh rupees for relief work in these Districts. The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reviewed the situation at a high level meeting at Kurseong in Darjeeling District this afternoon. Miss Banerjee instructed the administration to repair the damaged roads in North Bengal particularly in worst hit Kurseong, Kalimpong and Darjeeling Sub-divisions on a war-footing. Our Kolkata correspondent reports that relief and rescue operations have been hampered in Darjeeling due to heavy rains. The State Government has announced compensation of 2 lakh rupees each to the next of the kin of the dead and 50 thousand rupees each to the injured in the quake related incidents. In Nepal, the death toll in yesterday’s quake has been revised to six. According to the Home Ministry Spokesman, one death was reported today in Sankhuwasabha .This is in addition to the three deaths that were reported from Kathmandu and two from Eastern town of Dharan. Nepal was spared major loss of lives unlike in 1988 when more than seven hundred lost their lives due to major eartquake. The eastern bordering districts of Taplejung and Panchtari suffered the most damaged in the number of houses and buildings damaged but no loss of lives have been reported. While unofficial reports put the death toll at nine , official sources said six lives have been lost due to the quake. In a report jointly published by the United Nations and the Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery in 2004, Nepal was ranked as the 11th most earthquake-prone country in the world. Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Shelja has offered the Sikkim Government and other state Governments assiatance in reconstruction and re-building of the damaged houses and public infrastructure after the earth quake. Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Shivraj V Patil today submitted his resignation to the State Governor H R Bharadwaj in Bangalore. Facing allegations of owning plots in violation of Housing Society by-laws, Justice Patil defended the asset declaration and charged that malicious campaign against him was pre-planned. Speaking to media persons after his resignation, Justice Patil said the plot bought by him was not from a housing society and hence there is no violation while acquiring another plot by his wife later. He had assumed office of Lokayuktha in the first week of last month.

The Finance Ministry has set up a Special Investigation Unit, SIU to monitor the funding and donations made to political parties. It will monitor election-related expenditure, regulate political funding and enforce compliance to tax laws by political parties and groups including checking exemptions granted to parties. In the cash-for-vote scam case, a Delhi Court today extended the interim bail of Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh till 27th September on health grounds. Singh was arrested for his alleged involvement in the 2008 cash-for-vote scam. Extending Singh's interim bail which was to expire today, Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal also asked BJP leader L K Advani's former aide Sudheendra Kulkarni, a co-accused in the case, to appear before it on September 27 without fail. Kulkarni failed to attend the court today despite his September 6 undertaking to the court. The the court said no further extension would be granted to Kulkarni. The court also heard part of arguments on Singh's regular bail plea by senior counsel Ram Jethhmalani and slated September 27 for its further hearing.

Ahead of the Prime Ministers address to the UN General Assembly, India and three other members of the G-4 will meet in New York to further their common goal of reforms in the UN Security Council, UNSC. Foreign Ministers of India, Brazil, Japan and Germany who are pushing and supporting each other's permanent membership in the expanded UNSC, will review the progress of their outreach process kick-started in February this year. Official sources said that India will continue its efforts for reform of the UN with a view to creating an equitable system that is reflective of contemporary realities. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today terminated the contract of IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for non-payment of bank guarantee. With this the controversial Kerala team's association with the IPL league has come to an abrupt end after just one year.
