Addressing the media in New Delhi yesterday , the Acting Chairperson of the NCW, Yasmin Abrar alleged that grave atrocities like rape and murders were committed in the two villages by the Uttar Pradesh police. Later speaking to AIR Ms Yasmin Abrar said, only an impartial enquiry by the CBI will bring out the truth as the state police is party to the crime.
The women blamed the local police for these attrocities. I want a CBI inquiry on these incidents as soon as possible, so that the evidence is not destroyed. Proper food and security should be provided especially because the men of these villages are still missing.

The Budget session of the Jatiya Sangsad or Bangladesh Parliament is scheduled to begin from today. AIR correspondent reports that the session is expected to see some significant developments with Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith scheduled to place the budget in the House on June 9.
The session is likely to set the ball rolling for the proposed constitutional amendments with the special committee preparing to place its report before the house. The 15 member special committee was set up by the Awami League government to suggest changes to the constitution based on the Supreme Court Judgment which had upheld the High Court verdict declaring the Fifth amendment illegal and left it to the parliament to make the necessary changes. Senior Leaders of the main opposition party the BNP have been asserting that the party’s lawmakers will attend parliament only if the government agrees to its demand for holding mid- term polls and also withdraw cases against its leader Khlaeda Zia. The ruling Awami league has however dismissed the opposition’s demand for mid term elections as ridiculous. This is Senthil Rajan for AIR News, Dhaka.
