प्रधानमंत्री डॉ० मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा है कि अगर कोयला ब्लॉक आवंटन के बारे में उन पर लगाये गए टीम अण्णा के आरोप सही साबित हुए तो वे सार्वजनिक जीवन त्याग देंगे और किसी भी कानूनी कार्रवाई का सामना करेंगे। उन्होंने ब्लॉकों के आवंटन में अनियमितताओं के आरोपों को गैर जिम्मेदाराना बताया।
लीक हुए मसौदे के आधार पर ग़लत आरोप लगाना और चर्चाएं करना दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है। अपने १४ सहयोगियों के बारे में मै सिर्फ इतना ही कहना चाहूंगा कि ये बहुत ही दुखद है कि तथ्यों की जांच किये बिना ही उन पर गैर जिम्मेदाराना आरोप लगाया जा रहे हैं।

प्रधानमंत्री ने कल शाम म्यांमा से लौटते समय विशेष विमान में पत्रकारों से कहा कि सरकार को अभी तक नियंत्रक और महालेखा परीक्षक की रिपोर्ट नहीं मिली है और रिपोर्ट मिलने के बाद ही सरकार तथ्यों पर आधारित अपना विस्तृत उत्तर लोक लेखा समिति को पेश करेगी। उन्होंने कहा कि कोयला मंत्री ने इन आरोपों के जवाब में सभी तथ्यों का विवरण दिया है और कोयला मंत्रालय ने अपनी वेबसाइट पर पूरी जानकारी दर्ज कर दी है।
म्यामां यात्रा को सफल बताते हुए प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि राष्ट्रपति थीन सेन ने उन्हें भरोसा दिलाया है कि भारत के खिलाफ म्यामां की जमीन का इस्तेमाल नहीं होने दिया जाएगा।
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि भारत, राष्ट्रीय आम सहमति और लोकतांत्रिक व्यवस्था बनाने के लिए म्यांमा के राष्ट्रपति के प्रयासों की सराहना करता है। प्रधानमंत्री ने बताया कि विपक्ष की नेता आंग सान सू ची के साथ उनकी बातचीत राष्ट्रीय आम सहमति की प्रक्रिया और विकास को और अधिक समावेशी, जन हितैषी तथा पारदर्शी बनाने के प्रयासों पर केन्द्रित रही।
प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश घटने और रुपए के कमजोर होने के बारे में प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि रुपए में गिरावट को यूरो जोन संकट की पृष्ठभूमि में देखा जाना चाहिए।
वैश्विक आर्थिक स्थिति और यूरोजोन संकट की पृष्ठभूमि में ही रूपये में गिरावट आ रही है और इसलिये विदेशी संस्थागत निवेशक तथा प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेशक उन देशों में निवेश करने से डर रहे हैं, जहां वे पहले काफी निवेश किया करते थे। मेरा मानना है कि यह स्थिति बहुत लम्बे समय तक नहीं चलेगी''।

म्यामां सरकार ने मणिपुर के आतंकवादी संगठनों को १० जून तक अपने शिविर और प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम बंद कर देश छोड़ने का आदेश दिया है। गृह मंत्रालय के सरकारी सूत्रों ने कल नई दिल्ली में बताया कि म्यामां की सेना ने २४ मई को ये आदेश दिया था। यह कदम भारत के साथ सद्भाव बढ़ाने के इरादे से उठाया गया है।

निर्वाचन आयोग ने वाई एस आर कांग्रेस के प्रमुख जगनमोहन रेड्डी की गिरफ्तारी के मामले में हस्तक्षेप नहीं करने का फैसला किया है। जगनमोहन रेड्डी की मां वाई एस विजयाम्मा ने आंध्रप्रदेश में आगामी उप चुनाव के मद्देनजर आयोग को पत्र भेज कर उनकी रिहाई की मांग की थी। मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त एस वाई कुरैशी की अध्यक्षता में निर्वाचन आयोग के तीनों सदस्यों ने विजयाम्मा के पत्र पर चर्चा की। पत्र में जगनमोहन रेड्डी की रिहाई के लिए आयोग का निर्देश मांगा गया था।  आयोग का कहना है कि जगन के खिलाफ सी बी आई की अदालत में मामला चल रहा है लेकिन वे सी बी आई की हिरासत में नहीं बल्कि न्यायालय के आदेश के तहत न्यायिक हिरासत में हैं।
उधर, हैदराबाद में सीबीआई की विशेष अदालत ने आय से अधिक संपत्ति मामले में सांसद वाई. एस. जगन मोहन रेड्डी की जमानत अर्जी पर सुनवाई कल तक टाल दी। जगन मोहन रेड्डी ने कल नई जमानत याचिका दाखिल की थी, क्योंकि अदालत ने उनकी पहली जमानत अर्जी खारिज कर उन्हें ११ जून तक न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया था।

केंद्रीय शैक्षणिक संस्थानों और नौकरियों में अन्य पिछड़े वर्ग के आरक्षण में अल्पसंख्यक समुदायों के लिए साढ़े चार प्रतिशत आरक्षण देने के प्रस्ताव को आंध्र प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय द्वारा खारिज किए जाने के खिलाफ केंद्र सरकार उच्चतम न्यायालय में विशेष अनुमति याचिका दायर करेगी। कल नई दिल्ली में मीडिया से बातचीत में विधि तथा अल्पसंख्यक मामलों के मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद ने कहा कि इस मुद्दे पर अटॉर्नी जनरल की राय ली जाएगी। श्री खुर्शीद ने कहा कि साढ़े चार प्रतिशत कोटा अल्प संख्यकों की आबादी के अनुपात में है और मंडल आयोग की रिपोर्ट पर भी आधारित है।

विशेष वर्ग के जो अल्पसंख्यक वर्ग के उसमें समुदाय के लोग हैं। उनके लिए आबादी के अनुपात में हमने हिस्सा रखा है। तो एक बात तो यह है किसी विशेष धर्म से संबंधित नहीं बल्कि अल्पसंख्यक वर्ग से संबंधित लोगों के लिए रखा है और दूसरी बात यह है कि आबादी के अनुपात में रखा है। अनुपात से बढ़कर नहीं रखा है''।

नागर विमानन मंत्री अजित सिंह ने फिर कहा है कि एयर इंडिया के हड़ताली पायलटों की मांगों पर तभी विचार किया जाएगा जब वे बिना शर्त काम पर वापस आएंगे। इंडियन पायलट्स गिल्ड-आई पी जी से मिले २७ मई के पत्र के जवाब में श्री अजित सिंह ने यह बयान दिया है।

पत्र में बर्खास्त किए गए पायलटों की बहाली, आई पी जी को फिर से मान्यता प्रदान करने तथा छह वर्षों में प्रथम ऑफिसर पायलट से कमांडर के पद पर पदोन्नति के आश्वासन की मांग की गई थी । एयर इंडिया ने १०१ पायलटों को बर्खास्त किया है और वह अपनी उड़ानों और विशेषकर आन्दोलन से प्रभावित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय उड़ानों का संचालन सामान्य बनाने के लिए नये पायलटों की सेवाएं लेने पर विचार कर रही है।

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के गर्वनर डी सुब्बाराव ने राज्य सरकारों से कहा है कि कीमतों में बढ़ोतरी को देखते हुए वस्तुओं की सुचारू सप्लाई की बाधायें दूर करने के उपायों पर विचार करें। कल मुुंबई में राज्यों के वित्त सचिवों को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि मुद्रास्फीति को नियंत्रित करने की दिशा में केंद्र और राज्य सरकारों की आपूर्ति संचालन में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है। रिजर्व बैंक के गर्वनर ने वित्त सचिवों से कहा कि आपूर्ति बढ़ाने के  लिये सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली के बेहतर प्रबधन तथा वस्तुओं की आवाजाही और भंडारण व्यवस्था सुचारू बनाने के  नये तरीके शुरू करें। डा. सुब्बाराव ने कहा कि राज्य सरकारों की कर्ज की बढ़ती जरूरतों से निजी क्षेत्र को दिये जाने वाले ऋण में कमी आ सकती है और इससे राजकोषीय संचालन प्रभावित हो सकता है।

अमरीका, ब्रिटेन और जर्मनी समेत अनेक देशों ने अपने यहां तैनात सीरिया के राजदूतों को निष्कासित कर दिया है। सीरिया के हौला में हुई नरसंहार की घटना के बाद यह कार्रवाई की गई है। इस घटना में ३४ बच्चों समेत १०८ लोग मारे गये थे। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि सीरिया की स्थिति पर चर्चा के लिये अरब देशों के विदेश मंत्रियों की शनिवार को दोहा में बैठक हो रही है जिसमें कोफी अन्नान भी मौजूद होंगे।

सीरिया के होम्स प्रांत के हौला गांव में हुए नरसंहार के विरोध में अनेक पश्चिमी देशों ने अपने यहां से सीरिया के राजदूतों को देश छोड़कर जाने को कहा है। अमरीका, ब्रिटेन, फ्रांस, जर्मनी, इटली, नीदरलैंड, स्विट्जरलैड, स्पेन, कनाडा, ऑस्ट्रेलिया, बुल्गारिया इनमें शामिल है। उधर, दमिश्क में संयुक्त राष्ट्र के विशेष दूत कोफी अन्नान ने सीरिया के राष्ट्रपति बशर अल असद से फौरन खून-खराबा रोकने की अपील की। उन्होंने ही विपक्षी गुटों से तत्काल हिंसा रोकने को कहा। सीरियाई टेलिवीजन के अनुसार राष्ट्रपति असद ने एक बार फिर कहा कि छह सूत्री अन्नान योजना की सफलता आतंकवादी हरकतों की समाप्ति और उन्हें शह देने से बाज आने पर ही संभव हो सकती है। अतुल तिवारी आकाशवाणी समाचार''।

अफगानिस्तान में पिछले २४ घंटे में अफगान और नेटो सेनाओं की संयुक्त कार्रवाई में १६ हथियारबंद आतंकवादी मारे गये और २३ अन्य गिरफ्तार किये गये। अफगानिस्तान के गृहमंत्रालय ने बताया कि काबुल, हेलमंड, कंधार, सरीपुल, बगलान, लोगार, मैदान वर्दाक, पक्तिया और फराह प्रांतों में आतंकवादियों के खिलाफ अभियान शुरू किया गया है। इन अभियानों के दौरान बड़ी मात्रा में हथियार, गोली-बारूद तथा अन्य विस्फोटक सामग्री बरामद की गई जिन्हे आतंकवादी गतिविधियों में इस्तेमाल किया जाता था ।

इटली के उत्तरी इलाके में आए भूकंप में मरने वालों की संख्या १६ हो गई है। भूकंप में लगभग साढ़े तीन सौ लोग घायल हुये हैं। भूकंप से कारखाने और गोदाम धराशायी हो गए और वहां काम करने वाले लोग मलबे में दबे हैं। भूकंप के केंद्र मिडोनो शहर में कई गिरिजाघरों को भी नुकसान पहुंचा है। रिक्टर स्केल पर भूकंप की तीव्रता पांच दशमलव आठ मापी गई है।

सी बी आई ने उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्य चिकित्सा अधिकारियों वी के आर्य और बी पी सिंह की हत्या के मामले में तीन आरोपियों के खिलाफ दो अलग-अलग आरोप पत्र दायर किए हैं। इन चिकित्सा अधिकारियों की उस समय हत्या हो गई थी, जब इन्होंने राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण स्वास्थ्य मिशन में अनियमितताओं की जांच शुरू की थी।

The Prime Minister refuted Team Anna's allegations of corruption against him and his cabinet colleagues. Dr Singh  said he will quit public life and face any punishment, if charges leveled against him by Team Anna regarding coal block allotment are proved correct. He said, it is unfortunate that irresponsible allegations relating to irregularities in allocation of coal blocks are being made without confirming the facts.

"Uninformed allegations and discussion based on leaked draft are unfortunate. As regards the other 14 colleagues of mine, I would only say that it is unfortunate that irresponsible allegations have been made without confirming the facts."
  
Dr. Singh was talking to media persons onboard his special flight on his way back from
Myanmar last evening. He said, the government is yet to receive the CAG report and it will submit its detailed factual response before the Public Accounts Committee after getting the report. He said, the Coal Minister has given factual details in response to these allegations and the Coal Ministry has put up all the information on its website.
Describing his visit to
Myanmar as very successful, the Prime Minister said, President Thein Sein has assured him that Myanmar's soil will not be used against India. Dr Singh said India is very appreciative of efforts being made by the Myanmar President for national reconciliation and democratization.
On the decline in Foreign Direct Investment and depreciation of rupee, the Prime Minister said the fall in rupee should be seen in the backdrop of Eurozone crisis.

"Fall of the rupee is taking place against the background of what is taking place in the global economic scene, the Euro zone crisis  and, therefore the foreign institutional investors, even foreign direct investors are hesitant to go to countries where they were earlier very positive in investment. I believe this is a phenomenon which is not going to last very long."

RBI Governor D Subbarao has asked state governments to address the issue of supply side bottlenecks against the backdrop of rise in prices. Addressing state finance secretaries in Mumbai yesterday, he said both the Centre and the states have important role in generating and promoting the supply response so that inflation could be managed within the comfortable zone. The RBI Governor urged them to continue introducing supply enhancing measures, including management of public distribution system, and steps to improve storage and transportation infrastructure.

Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh has reiterated that the demands of Air India's striking pilots will be considered only if they report back to duty unconditionally. An official release in New Delhi said, Mr Singh's statement  came in response to a May 27 letter written by the Indian Pilots Guild, IPG to the Civil Aviation Minister insisting on their demands. The striking pilots' demands include reinstatement of terminated pilots, recognition of derecognised IPG and assurance of promotion from First Officer Pilot to Commander in six years.
The Civil Aviation Minister also held a meeting with top officials of the Ministry and Air
India to review the situation arising out of the strike that entered its 23rd day today.

The Election Commission has decided not to intervene in the matter concerning the arrest and judicial custody of YSR Congress Chief Jaganmohan Reddy, whose mother has sought his release in view of the coming bypolls in Andhra Pradesh. The three-member Election Commission met under the Chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi and discussed the letter from YS Vijayamma, seeking a direction from the Commission for her son's release. The EC, in a communication released to media by Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar-Lal late last night, explained why it decided not to intervene in the issue. The Commission said, the case against Jagan is sub-judice before a CBI court and he is under judicial custody under the orders of the court and is not under the custody of the CBI.
Earlier yesterday, a Special CBI court in
Hyderabad  asked the CBI to file counter affidavit to the bail petition by  Jaganmohan Reddy. Jagan, who was arrested and produced before the special court on Monday, is on judicial remand in the Chanchalguda Central jail till the 11th of next month in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets case.

The CBI has filed two separate chargesheet against three accused for murdering UP Chief Medical Officers, CMOs VK Arya and BP Singh after they started probing NRHM irregularities. In its charge sheets filed before the special judicial magistrate in Lucknow yesterday, the agency alleged that shooters Anand Prakash Tiwari and Vinod Sharma murdered the then CMOs. The CBI also named one Ram Krishna Verma, who had allegedly hired them to murder the CMOs. In a statement, a CBI  spokesperson said that the investigating agency also named the then deputy CMO YS Sachan in the conspiracy. Dr Sachan was found dead in Lucknow jail.

Several countries including US, UK and Germany have expelled Syria's envoys over the carnage at Houla in Syria in which 108 people including 34 children were killed. In Afghanistan, 16 armed insurgents were killed and 23 others arrested in joint operations by Afghan and NATO forces during the past 24 hours. Afghan Interior Ministry said, 10 joint clearance operations have been launched in Kabul, Helmand, Kandahar, Saripul, Baghlan, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Paktiya and Farah provinces. Huge quantity of arms and ammunitions,  explosives and other materials used in insurgent activities were also recovered during the operation.

And back home, the Central government will , through a Special Leave Petition approach the Supreme court on  Andhra Pradesh High Court’s rejection of its proposal to create a 4.5 per cent sub-quota  to minorities within OBCs in Central educational institutions and jobs.  Talking to the media in New Delhi yesterday, the Minority Affairs and Law & Justice Minister Salman Khurshid said, the matter will be taken up by the Attorney General with immediacy. Mr. Khurshid said, the government's decision is based upon logic as well as the report of the Mandal Commission.
"Government  has only come to the conclusion that 4.5 per cent is a proportional reflection of their population which is being recognised by the Mandal commission. We would obviously in the circumstances immediately  go to the Supreme Court by way of an SLP to appeal to the Supreme Court against the pronouncement of the Andhra Pradesh High Court."

In Odisha, an emergency meeting of ruling Biju Janata Dal, BJD legislature party has been convened today to discuss the current political situation in the state. The meeting has been called at the residence of Chief Minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik who is presently on a tour to United Kingdom. Meanwhile, a powerful section within the BJD including a number of ministers and MLAs led by leader of BJD Parliamentary Party in Rajya Sabha, Pyari Mohan Mohapatra held closed-door meetings in Bhubaneshwar last night. They, however, refused to disclose what transpired at the meeting. The series of late night meetings in Bhubaneswar by different groups of MLAs in the absence of Mr. Patnaik have raised several questions on the political stability in the state.

The Opposition BJP yesterday raised the issue of water shortage in various parts of the national capital in the Delhi Assembly and criticized the Delhi government for not paying attention towards this critical problem.  On the second day of the Budget Session, the BJP MLAs raised the issue of water shortage in the city under Special Mention in the House and demanded a reply from Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit on the issue. राज्यसभा में बीजू जनता दल संसदीय पार्टी के नेता प्यारीमोहन महापात्र ने पार्टी में किसी तरह की फूट से इन्कार किया है। भुवनेश्वर में संवाददाता सम्मेलन में श्री महापात्र ने कहा कि श्री नवीन पटनायक अब भी पार्टी के नेता हैं और उनका राज्य सरकार को गिराने और अगला मुख्यमंत्री बनने का कोई इरादा नहीं है। श्री महापात्र ने कहा कि बीजू जनता दल में कोई असंतोष नहीं है और शिकायतें इसलिए बढ़ी है, क्योंकि पार्टी संगठन पर पूरा ध्यान नहीं दिया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि साजिश करने वालों का एक गुट ओडिशा के मुख्यमंत्री को गुमराह कर रहा है। इनमें मंत्री, सांसद और विधायक शामिल हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि श्री पटनायक और बीजू जनता दल को इन षड़यंत्रकारियों से ही असली खतरा है, जो पार्टी के अन्दर ही हैं। श्री महापात्र का कहना था कि अधिकतर विधायक और पार्टी कार्यकर्ता उनके साथ हैं और कोई उन्हें बीजू जनता दल से निलंबित या बर्खास्त करके दिखाये।
श्री महापात्र द्वारा कल रात भुवनेश्वर में अपने निवास पर बुलाई गई  बैठक के बाद बीजू जनता दल में फूट की खबरें आई थीं। इस बैठक में तीन मंत्रियों सहित ३३ विधायकों ने भाग लिया था। बीजू जनता दल के सूत्रों के अनुसार श्री नवीन पटनायक भी पार्टी में संकट को देखते हुए ब्रिटेन की अपनी यात्रा बीच में छोड़कर भुवनेश्वर लौट रहे हैं।

सेनाध्यक्ष जनरल वी के सिंह ने कहा है कि भारतीय सेना किसी भी चुनौती का सामना करने में सक्षम है। आज पुणे में राष्ट्रीय रक्षा अकादमी-एनडीए की १२२वीं पासिंग आउट परेड के बाद संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में उन्होंने कहा कि उन्होंने सेना को भविष्य के लिए तैयार करने और इसमें पारदर्शिता लाने के दो लक्ष्य अपने लिए निर्धारित किये थे। उन्होंने कहा कि इस काम को पूरा करने के लिए और समय की जरूरत है लेकिन इस दिशा में निश्चित तौर पर प्रगति हुई है।
 हमारी तीनों सेनाएं जिस भी स्थिति में हैं, वो किसी भी चुनौती का सामना करने को तैयार हैं। तीनों सेनाएं अलग अलग तरीके से अपना आधुनिकीकरण और जैसे जैसे आधुनिकीकरण होता जाएगा , उनकी क्षमता और बढती जाएगी और उसी तरह से मैं अपनी सेना के बारे में कह सकता हूं कि थलसेना जो है किसी भी तरीके की चुनौती का सामना करने में सक्षम है।
उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि सेना और रक्षा मंत्रालय के बीच कोई गलतफहमी नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा कि उन्हें अपने कार्यकाल के अंतिम दिन एनडीए में गॉर्ड ऑफ ऑनर लेकर बहुत गर्व हो रहा है। ४६ वर्ष पहले उन्होंने इसी संस्थान से  प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त किया था। एनडीए के १२२वें बैच ने सेनाध्यक्ष को रंगारंग और रस्मी गॉर्ड ऑफ ऑनर पेश किया।

केन्द्र सरकार, कपड़ा क्षेत्र के लिए ऋण अदायगी व्यवस्था में फेरबदल के ३५ हजार करोड़ रूपये के पैकेज पर सहमत हो गई है। कल शाम वित्तमंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी के साथ बैठक के बाद कपड़ा मंत्री आनंद शर्मा ने घोषणा की कि सरकार इस बात पर सहमत है कि कपड़ा उद्योग को संकट के इस दौर में सहायता दिये जाने की आवश्यकता है। कपड़ा मंत्री ने कहा कि इस क्षेत्र पर एक लाख ५५ हजार ८०९ करोड़ रूपये का ऋण बकाया है, जिनमें से ३५ हजार करोड़ रूपये के ऋण की अदायगी के कार्यक्रम में परिवर्तन करने की जरूरत है। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार ने इस बारे में बैको को प्राथमिकता के आधार पर विचार करने का निर्देश दिया।
कपड़ा मंत्री आनंद शर्मा ने कहा कि वित्त मंत्रालय के साथ इस बात पर सहमति थी कि अलग अलग बैंक, अलग अलग मामले में कर्ज अदायगी के कार्यक्रम में फेरबदल पर विचार करेंगे। वित्त मंत्रालय रिजर्व बैंक की सलाह से सावधि ऋणों की अदायगी पर दो वर्ष की छूट, परिसम्पत्तियों के दोबारा वर्गीकरण से बचने के लिए डूबी हुई परिसम्पत्तियों के नियमों में विशेष प्रावधान करने और कार्यशील पूंजी के घाटे को तीन से पांच वर्ष की अवधि में देय कार्यशील पूंजी सावधिक ऋण में बदलने के बारे में विचार करेगा। ये काम तेजी से निपटाने के लिए वस्त्र उद्योग और बैंकों के बीच तालमेल रखने के वास्ते वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की एक अन्तर मंत्रालय समिति भी गठित की जाएगी।
इस बारे में कपड़ा उद्योग से जुड़े संघों ने कपड़ा मंत्री को एक ज्ञापन दिया था। उन्होंने दीर्घावधि ऋणों की अदायगी पर दो वर्ष की छूट और डूबी हुई परिसम्पत्तियों के बारे में रिजर्व बैंक के नियमों में विशेष प्रावधान तथा कार्यशील पूंजी के लिए दीर्घावधि ऋणों की मांग की थी।

तमिलनाडु में डीएमके प्रमुख करूणानिधि ने प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह से पेट्रोल की कीमत में वृद्धि के मुद्दे पर हस्तक्षेप करने और आम आदमी को राहत देने की अपील की है। आज चेन्नई में पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य के लोग दूध के मूल्य और बस किराये में वृद्धि से पहले से ही परेशान हैं और अब पेट्रोल की कीमतें बढ़ने से उनकी तकलीफ और बढ़ गई है। डीएमके राज्य के जिला मुख्यालयों में पेट्रोल मूल्य में वृद्धि के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन कर रही है।

जम्मू-श्रीनगर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर आज तड़के एक सड़क दुर्घटना में १३ लोगों की मौत हो गई। मरने वालों में छह महिलाएं, चार पुरूष और तीन बच्चे शामिल हैं।  आधिकारिक सूत्रों के अनुसार रामबन जिले में डिगडोल के पास चालक के नियंत्रण खो देने से एक वाहन आठ सौ फुट गहरी खाई में गिर गया। मरने वालों की पहचान की जा रही है।

जम्मू-कश्मीर में श्रीनगर के खनयार इलाके में आज सवेरे आतंकवादियों की अंधाधुंध गोलीबारी में केन्द्रीय रिज+र्व पुलिस बल के सात जवान घायल हो गए। इनमें से एक जवान की हालत गंभीर है। पुलिस ने बताया है कि ये जवान सवा सात बजे शिराज+ सिनेमा के पास अपने मुख्यालय से ड्यूटी के लिए निकल रहे थे तभी मोटरसाइकिल पर सवार आतंकवादियों ने इन पर गोलियां चलायीं। घायल जवानों को सौरा के एस के आई एम एस अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है। अभी तक किसी आतंकवादी गुट ने इस हमले की जिम्मेदारी नहीं ली है। पुलिस ने शहर में अलर्ट जारी किया है और हमलावरों को ढूंढने के लिए अभियान शुरू किया है।

हैदराबाद में सीबीआई की अदालत में आज आंध्रप्रदेश के पूर्व आबकारी मंत्री एम वैंकटरमन्ना को अगले महीने की सात तारीख तक न्यायिक हिरासत में लेने का आदेश दिया। वैंकट रमन्ना को कडप्पा के सांसद जगन मोहन रेड्डी के खिलाफ आय से अधिक सम्पत्ति के मामले के सिलसिले में गिरफ्‌तार किया गया था। बाद में उन्हें चंचलगुड़ा जेल भेज दिया गया। अदालत ने उनकी जमानत याचिका पर सुनवाई भी कल तक स्थगित कर दी और सीबीआई से इस बारे में हलफनामा दायर करने को कहा है। पूर्व मंत्री ने जेल में विशेष दर्जे की मांग भी की है। इस बीच, सीबीआई की विशेष अदालत जगनमोहन रेड्डी की जमानत याचिका पर कल सुनवाई करेगी। जगनमोहन रेड्डी आय से अधिक सम्पत्ति के मामले में अगले महीने की ११ तारीख तक न्यायिक हिरासत में हैं।

सरकार ने आश्वस्त किया है कि इस वर्ष पहली अप्रैल तक निपटाए गए आयकर आकलन के किसी भी मामले को दोबारा नहीं खोला जाएगा। वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने आज नई दिल्ली में प्रत्यक्ष कर भवन नाम से आयकर विभाग के नए कार्यालय का उद्घाटन करने के बाद यह बात कही। वित्त मंत्री ने कहा कि उन्होंने कानून में पिछली तारीख से किए गए संशोधन के संदर्भ में इस आशय का वचन दिया था और प्रत्यक्ष कर बोर्ड ने इस बारे में परिपत्र जारी कर दिया है।ट्रांसफर प्राइसिंग और अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय कराधान के मुद्दे पर श्री मुखर्जी ने कहा कि इसे सुलझाने के लिए एक समिति बनाई गई है। समिति की पहली बैठक २५ मई को हो चुकी है।

बम्बई शेयर बाजार के शुरूआती कारोबार में आज सेन्सेक्स एक सौ चौदह अंक से भी अधिक गिरा। फंडो और छोटे निवेशकों की मुनाफा वसूली तथा एशियाई शेयर बाजारों में कमजोर रूख के कारण बाजार में यह गिरावट आई। ऑटो, बैंकिंग और उपभोक्ता टिकाऊ वस्तुओं के शेयरों में गिरावट देखी गई।  अब से कुछ देर पहले सेन्सेक्स ४५ अंक की गिरावट के साथ १६ हजार ३९२ पर था।नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का निफ्टी भी १५ अंक गिरकर ४  हजार ९७५ पर आ गया।एशिया के प्रमुख शेयर बाजारों में गिरावट का रूख है। हांगकांग के हैंगसैंग में एक दशमलव पांच-शून्य और जापान के निक्कई में शून्य दशमलव नौ-आठ प्रतिशत की गिरावट दर्ज हुई।

केन्द्र ने देश भर में अनाज जांच प्रयोगशाला बनाने के लिए राज्यों को सहायता देने की पेशकश की है। आज नई दिल्ली में आधुनिक केन्द्रीय अनाज जांच प्रयोगशाला का उद्घाटन करने के बाद उपभोक्ता कार्य मंत्री के वी थॉमस ने कहा कि उन्होंने राज्यों को इस बारे में पत्र लिखा है और ये प्रक्रिया शुरू की जा चुकी है। श्री थॉमस ने कहा कि केन्द्र ने हिस्सेदारी के आधार पर वित्तीय सहायता की पेशकश की है। उन्होंने कहा कि केन्द्र, राज्य अनाज जांच प्रयोगशालाओं के कर्मचारियों को प्रशिक्षण देने पर भी सहमत है।
श्री थॉमस ने कहा कि गुवाहाटी, पटना, चण्डीगढ़, जम्मू, जयपुर, चेन्नई और अहमदाबाद में सात क्वालिटी कंट्रोल प्रकोष्ठ खोले जाने से सरकारी एजेंसियों को अनाज की खरीद, भण्डारण और वितरण में सहायता मिलेगी।
नई दिल्ली में आज जिस केन्द्रीय अनाज जांच प्रयोगशाला का उद्घाटन किया गया उसमें अनाज के नमूनों का ज्यादा तेजी से और ज्यादा सटीक विश्लेषण करने के लिए अत्याधुनिक उपकरण लगे हैं। श्री थॉमस ने उपभोक्ता कार्यं, खाद्य और सार्वजनिक वितरण मंत्रालय की फिर से डिजाइन की गई वेबसाइट का भी उद्घाटन किया।

गुजरात में राष्ट्रीय खाद्य सुरक्षा कार्यक्रम के तहत सीमावर्ती कच्छ जिले में आज से दलहन उत्पादन बढ़ाने का त्वरित कार्यक्रम शुरु किया गया है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि सूखे से प्रभावित इस क्षेत्र में पहली बार किसानों को दलहन उत्पादन के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया जा रहा है। खाद्य सुरक्षा कार्यक्रम के पहले चरण में तीन हजार हेक्टेयर क्षेत्र में दालों की खेती की जाएगी।

क्षेत्र की दृष्टि से देश का दूसरा जिला कच्छ में राष्ट्रीय खाद्यान्न सुरक्षा योजना में किसानों को सम्मिलित करने की योजना में दो करोड़ रूपये आवंटित किये गये हैं। रेगिस्तान और कम वर्षा वाले क्षेत्र के रूप में अधिक परिचित ऐसे कच्छ क्षेत्र में केन्द्र सरकार की राष्ट्रीय बागवानी योजना के अच्छे परिणाम सामने आये हैं।  यहां के किसान राष्ट्रीय बागवानी मिशन के तहत उगाये गये केसर, आम, चीकू, दाड़म, केले, पेठे तथा तरबूज  का उत्पादन ले रहे हैं जिसमें से कच्छ के केसर आम विदेशों में भी अधिक लोकप्रिय हो रहे है। राष्ट्रीय खाद्यान्न सुरक्षा योजना को मजबूत करने के लिए कच्छ किसानों ने कमर कस ली है। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए रामपुर विक्रा गांव से शैलेष व्यास।

असम सरकार ने अपने कर्मचारियों के महंगाई भत्ते में सात प्रतिशत वृद्धि करने का फैसला किया है। महंगाई भत्ते में यह बढ़ोतरी इस वर्ष पहली जनवरी से की गई है।  अब कुल महंगाई भत्ता ६५ प्रतिशत हो गया है। यह फैसला कल मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई, मुख्य सचिव और असम कर्मचारी परिषद के सदस्यों की बैठक में लिया गया।

ब्रिटेन की सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने विकीलीक्स के संस्थापक जूलियन असांज के स्वीडन  प्रत्यर्पण के फैसले को सही ठहराया है। असांज को अमरीका के लाखों गुप्त दस्तावेज उजागर करने के लिए जाना जाता है। इनमें अमरीकी सैनिकों द्वारा इराकी नागरिकों और पत्रकारों की भीड़ को उपद्रवी समझकर गोली मारे जाने का वीडियो भी शामिल है। असांज ने अमरीका के विदेश विभाग के ढाई लाख केबल जारी किये थे, जिससे अमरीका में बहुत आक्रोश पैदा हुआ और दुनिया भर में अमरीकी कूटनीति में अस्थिरता आई।
सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा कि असांज की अपील का विकीलीक्स या स्वीडन के सैक्स कांड से कोई लेना-देना नहीं था। उनके वकील इस आधार पर वारंट रद्द करने की मांग कर रहे थे कि ये वारंट गलत तरीके से वकील ने जारी किया है, जज ने नहीं। स्वीडन की सरकार की दलील थी कि बहुत से अन्य यूरोपीय देशों की तरह स्वीडन की व्यवस्था भी ऐसे ही काम करती है।

पाकिस्तान में आज सेना के कमाण्डो ने क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी उमर गुल के पेशावर स्थित मकान में छापा मारा और उनके भाई मेराज को एक वांछित आतंकवादी को शरण देने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार कर लिया। मीडिया की खबरों के अनुसार हाजी डेली नाम का यह आतंकवादी प्रतिबंधित लश्करे इस्लाम का सक्रिय सदस्य है। स्थानीय थाने के एक अधिकारी ने दावा किया है कि वो खैबर के कबायली इलाके में सेना की कार्रवाई में घायल हो गया था और भागकर पेशावर में उमर गुल के भाई के पास कई दिनों से रह रहा था।

इटली के उत्तरी भाग में जबर्दस्त भूकम्प में कम से कम १६ लोग मारे गये हैं। बचावकर्मी अब भी मलबे में दबे लोगों की तलाश कर रहे हैं। एमीलिया रोमाग्ना क्षेत्र में आए इस भूकम्प को रिक्टर पैमाने पर पांच दशमलव आठ मापा गया। करीब साढ़े तीन सौ लोगों के घायल होने की खबर है। इटली में इस हफ्‌ते में ये दूसरा जबर्दस्त भूकम्प है। २० मई को आए भूकम्प में साठ लोग मारे गये थे और हजारों बेघर हो गये थे। प्रधानमंत्री मारियो मोन्टी ने कहा है कि सरकार इस इलाके में जनजीवन सामान्य करने के लिए हरसंभव प्रयास करेगी। भूकम्पग्रस्त इलाको में सैनिक तैनात किये गये हैं।

अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय दूरसंचार संघ-आइ टी यू, नए कम्प्यूटर वायरस फ्लेम के बारे में चेतावनी जारी करने वाला है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र का जिनेवा स्थित यह संगठन अपने सदस्यों को साइबर सुरक्षा के मामले में सहायता देता है। यह फ्लेम वायरस फाइल्स चुरा सकता है, दूर से ही कम्प्यूटर की सैटिंग बदल सकता है, बातचीत सुनने के लिए कम्प्यूटर का माइक्रोफोन चालू कर सकता है, स्क्रीन की तस्वीर ले सकता है और इनस्टेंट चैट के लिए लॉग कर सकता है। स्टक्सनेट और दुआक्यू वायरस से बीस गुना ज्यादा ताकतवर फ्लेम वायरस अब तक ईरान, फलस्तीन, लेबनान, सीरिया, सऊदी अरब, मिस्र और सूडान में बड़ी संख्या में कम्प्यूटर मशीनों पर धावा बोल चुका है। आइ टी यू की गोपनीय चेतावनी सदस्य देशों को बताएगी कि फ्लेम वायरस जासूसी का एक खतरनाक हथियार है जो महत्वपूर्ण बुनियादी सुविधाओं पर धावा बोल सकता है।

उत्तर प्रदेश में भीषण गर्मी का प्रकोप जारी है। राज्य के अधिकतर जिलों में दिन का तापमान सामान्य से एक से तीन डिग्री सेल्सियस अधिक बना हुआ है। मौसम विभाग के हवाले से हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि इलाहाबाद में सबसे अधिक ४५ दशमलव तीन डिग्री सेल्सियस तापमान रिकॉर्ड किया गया जबकि हमीरपुर दूसरा सबसे गर्म शहर रहा जहां तापमान ४५ दशमलव दो डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया। अन्य स्थानों में ४१ से ४४ डिग्री सेल्सियस के बीच तापमान बना रहा।

समूचा राज्य ताप लहर की चपेट में है। राहगीर सडकों के किनारे जहां छावं की तलाश करते नजर आते हैं, वहीं स्वयंसेवी संगठनों ने सडकों के किनारे सबीनू यानी प्याऊ का प्रबंध किया है। शहरी जिदंगी पूरी तरह प्रभावित हुई है, जबकि सड़कों पर सन्नाटा पसरा है। अतिसार और पानी की कमी के मरीज अस्पतालों मे आ रहे हैं। सिद्धार्थनगर के सरकारी अस्पताल में कल तीन बच्चों की डायरिया के कारण मौत हो गई, पांच और बच्चे वहां के जिला अस्पताल में भर्ती हैं। मौसम विभाग के अनुसार अगले २४ घंटों के दौरान पूरे राज्य में मौसम सूखा रहेगा और तापलहर का प्रकोप जारी रहेगा। सलमान हैदर आकाशवाणी समाचार गोरखपुर।

BJD Parliamentary party leader in Rajya Sabha Pyari Mohan Mohapatra  has ruled out any split within the party.Addressing a press conference at Bhubaneswar today Mr Mohapatra said that Mr. Naveen Patnaik continues to be the party leader. He also said that he has no intention to topple the state government and become the next Chief Minister. Mr Mohapatra said there is no dissidence in the party and grievances have increased because the party organisation is not looked after properly. He, however, said the Odisha Chief Minister is being mis-guided by a group of conspirators comprising of ministers, MPs and MLAs. He said the real threat to Mr Patnaik and the BJD is from these conspirators who are within the party. He dared to suspend or expel him from BJD adding that majority of MLAs and party workers are behind him.
There have been reports of a split within the BJD after Mr Mohapatra called a meeting at his Bhubaneswar residence last night where 33 MLAs including three ministers were present.  According to sources in BJD, Mr Naveen Patnaik is also cutting short his visit to the United Kingdom and rushing back to Bhubaneswar considering the political crisis in his party.

Army Chief General V. K. Singh has asserted that Indian Army is equipped to face any challenges. He was speaking to media persons after the 122nd Passing out Parade of the National Defence Academy in Pune today.

All three forces are ready to face any challenge.  All three forces are modernising themselves in their own way.  As far as modernisation will take place, their capability will increase.
General Singh said, bringing in transparency and gearing up the Army for future, were the two objectives he had set for himself. However, he said that this task needs more time to accomplish and a definite progress has begun in this direction. He clarified that there is no misunderstanding between army and ministry of defence. He also said that it is a proud moment for him to receive the Guard of Honor on the last serving day at NDA where he was trained 46 years ago. Earlier, the Army Chief was given a colorful and ceremonial Guard of Honor by the 122nd batch of NDA.

The Centre has agreed for a 35000 crore rupees debt restructuring package for the textile sector. Following his meeting with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee last evening, the Union Minister of Commerce, Industry and Textiles Anand Sharma announced that the Government has agreed that there is a need to support the Textiles industry in this time of crisis. Mr. Sharma said that the total outstanding debt of textiles sector is 155,809 crore rupees of which debt of 35000 crore rupees needs restructuring. He said, Government directions to banks to consider this on priority would be issued in this regard.
The Textiles Minister said that there was agreement with the Ministry of Finance that the debt restructuring package would be considered on a case to case basis by Individual Banks. The Finance ministry would examine in consultation with Reserve Bank of India for a 2 year moratorium on term loans, special provision in NPA norms to avoid asset reclassification and working capital eroded to be converted into working capital term loans repayable over a period of 3-5 years. An inter-ministerial committee of senior officials would also be constituted to coordinate with Industry-Banks in expeditious restructuring.

The government has assured that all Income Tax cases which have been finalized by the 1st of April this year will not be reopened. This was stated by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee after inaugurating a new office of the Income Tax Department named Pratyaksh Kar Bhawan in New Delhi today. Mr. Mukherjee said, Central Board of Direct Taxes, CBDT has issued a circular in this regard. Talking about the issue of transfer pricing and international taxation, Mr. Mukherjee said that a Committee has been constituted to resolve it. The group has held its first meeting on 25th of this month. Mr. Mukherjee said that on the basis of the advice given by the Committee, a circular has been issued to avoid multi- level tax deducted at source.

In Tamilnadu, the DMK Chief Mr. M.Karunanidhi has appealed to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to intervene in the hike in petrol prices issue and provide a relief to the common man. Addressing a number of partymen in Chennai today, he said that people in the state were already suffering because of the hike in milk and bus fares, and the hike in petrol has hit them really hard. The DMK is protesting against the hike in petrol prices through out the state at the District headquarters.

A Special CBI court in Hyderabad today ordered judicial remand till 7th of next month for former Andhra Pradesh Excise Minister M Venkataramana. He was arrested in connection with the Disproportionate assets case against Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy. He has been sent to Chanchalguda Central Jail later. The Court has also adjourned hearing over his bail petition till tomorrow and directed the CBI to file an affidavit in this regard. The former Minister has also sought special status in the jail.
Meanwhile, the CBI special court will be hearing tomorrow the bail petition filed by Jaganmohan Reddy, who is on judicial remand till the 11 of next month in connection with his assets case.

In Gujarat, under the National Food Security Scheme, the accelerated pulse production programme has been started in the border Kutch district from today. In the first phase of national food security scheme, 3000 hectares of land will be cultivated for pulse production. The series of training programmes for the farmers have been organised under Food Security Scheme.

The Assam Government has decided to hike the dearness allowance, DA of its around five lakh employees by seven per cent more with effect from January this year. With this, the DA of the state employees has gone up to 65 per cent. The decision to hike the DA was taken at a meeting held between Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, the Chief Secretary and the members of the Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad in Guwahati on Tuesday.

In Jammu and Kashmir, 13 persons have been killed in a tragic road accident on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the wee hours today. Official sources said that the Vehicle carrying 13 passengers which was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar skidded off the road when its driver lost control over his steering and rolled down about 800 feet into a deep gorge near Digdol in Ramban district. The dead include six females, four male and three children. Their identity is being ascertained.

In Jammu and Kashmir, 7 CRPF personnel were injured, one of them critically, as two motorcycle-borne militants opened indiscriminate firing on them at Khanyar in Srinagar today. Police said, two militants riding a motorcycle fired on the CRPF personnel of 82nd Battalion as they were leaving their headquarters at Shiraz Cinema for law and order duty at around 7.15 AM. The injured jawans were rushed to SKIMS Hospital at Soura where the doctors said condition of one jawan is critical.
    
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Police has sounded an alert across the city and an operation has been launched to track down the assailants.

In Rajasthan, four persons including one woman and two girls were killed in a boat mishap in Pratapgarh district. The accident occurred near Pipalkhunt when the  boat carrying 15 people capsized in the Mahi river. The boat was on its way from Mandvi to Ranpur Kharadi village. All the victims were local residents and going to Ranpur Kharadi for farming work.

In Madhya Pradesh, the first Saharia community radio station will go on air at Sesaipura in Sheopur district from tomorrow. Our Bhopal correspondent reports that the community radio station will raise the voice of primitive Saharia tribe.

"Saharia community radio station is being launched by Vanya, an undertaking of State Tribal Welfare Department. It will broadcast programmes in Saharia dialect and Hindi. The radio station will serve as a bridge between tribal people and the government. It will also ensure direct participation of tribal communities in administrative machinery. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined 114 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 16,325 in early trade, this morning, as funds and retail investors booked profits after two days of gains, amid rupee weakness, and negative regional bourses. Later, the Sensex remained weak, and stood 102 points, or 0.6 per cent in the red, at 16,336, in afternoon deals, a short while ago. The 30-share index had gained over 220 points in the previous two trading sessions.
Other Asian markets in Japan, China, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea were down by between 0.2 percent and 1.7 percent, today, as another  credit rating downgrade for Spain raised fresh concerns about the euro zone.

The Swedish government argued that’s the way the system works in Sweden, as in many other European countries.  In Pakistan, Army commandos raided cricketer Umar Gul's house in Peshawar today and arrested his brother, Meraj on charges of harbouring a wanted militant.  According to a media report, the militant , Haji Daly believe to be an active member of banned Lashkar-e-Islam.  An official of the local police station claimed that he was injured in an operation by armed forces in Khyber tribal area and had fled to Peshawar and lived with Umar Gul's brother for several days before leaving the city.

Spain and Canada have expelled Syrian Ambassadors. The Spanish government yesterday decided to expel the Syrian ambassador to Madrid. Hussam Edin Aala has been told to leave the country following the deaths of 108 people in the Syrian city of Houla. Four other Syrian diplomats have also been expelled from Spain. Canada also joined seven Western nations in expelling Syrian diplomats as part of a coordinated move to express outrage at the recent massacre in Syria's Houla region. Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird announced that three Syrian diplomats, including a charged 'affaires, and their families have to leave the country in five days. He said, another Syrian diplomat waiting to come to Canada would be refused entry.

Rescuers in northern Italy are continuing to comb through the rubble for more survivors after a strong earthquake killed at least 16 people. About 350 people were injured after the magnitude 5.8 quake hit the Emilia Romagna region. This was the second deadly tremor in just over a week. A woman was pulled out alive in the evening in Cavezzo, but officials say at least one more person is missing. The quake on the 20th May had killed seven people and left thousands homeless. Prime Minister Mario Monti said his government will do everything possible to restore normal life in the area. Government troops are now deployed in the affected areas, and an emergency cabinet meeting will be held today.

The Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has emphasised the importance of a strong US naval presence in Asia. His statement comes on the eve of a trip to the region. Speaking at the US naval academy, Mr. Panetta said the future of the US depended on ensuring security throughout the Western Pacific and the Indian Ocean. He said America is a maritime nation and they are returning to their maritime roots. Mr Panetta is due to travel to Vietnam, India and Singapore for a security summit. Speaking to naval graduates in Annapolis, he said the US should strengthen existing ties with Japan, South Korea, Australia and the Philippines, and form robust partnerships with South East Asian nations. The Pentagon chief also spoke about the need to strengthen defence ties with China, even as its military is growing and modernising.

Myanmar's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been meeting members of the large Myanmar migrant community in Thailand today on her first trip outside her native country in nearly quarter of a century. The United Nations has confirmed that the Sudanese troops have completed their withdrawal from the disputed region of Abyei which is also claimed by South Sudan. If he wins he will be crowned world champion for the 5th time. The two were level on scores at 6-6 after 12th game. Anand with his reputation of being one of the best rapid player ever holds an advantage but things have not exactly materialized the way he might have wanted his last match.
In the rapid chess, Anand will have to score 2.5 points in the four games scheduled today. There will be 25 minutes to each player in this contest with a 10- second addition after every move is played. Heat wave conditions prevail in several parts of the country. In Uttar Pradesh, Intense heat wave is still sweeping the entire state as the day’s maximum temperature is still one to three degrees above normal in most of the districts. Our Gorakhpur correspondent quoting met officials report that Allahabad recorded the highest maximum temperature in the State at 45.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Hamirpur with 45.2 degrees Celsius.

 “The entire state is sweltering under intense heat wave. The pedestrians are searching for shades on roadside while the voluntary organisations have arranged for drinking water at public places. The heat wave has badly affected the city life and roads are deserted. Cases of diarrhoea and dehydration are coming to hospitals. Three children died of diarrhoea in Siddharthanagar yesterday while five others are being treated at the district hospital. People in the National Capital Delhi continue to swelter under intense heat wave as temperatures stayed at above normal levels today. The minimum temperature was recorded at 28.2 degree celsius, a notch above normal while the maximum yesterday settled at 43.5 degree celsius, three degree above normal. The Met department said that the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 45 and 29 degrees.

The Centre has offered assistance to the States to setup Grain testing laboratories across the country. After inaugurating the modernised Central Grain Analysis Laboratory in New Delhi today, the Minister of Consumer Affairs Mr. K.V Thomas said he has written a letter to the states in this regard and the process is already on.  Mr. Thomas said, the Centre has offered financial assistance on a sharing basis.  He said, the Centre has also agreed to impart training of the staff of State Grain Analysis laboratories.
