सत्तारूढ़ यूपीए गठबंधन ने उपराष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी को दूसरे कार्यकाल के लिए भी उम्मीदवार बनाया है। कल यूपीए की बैठक में प्रधानमंत्री ने डॉ. अंसारी के नाम का प्रस्ताव रखा और उपस्थित नेताओं से सुझाव मांगे। विचार-विमर्श के बाद यूपीए अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने डॉ. हामिद अंसारी को उपराष्ट्रपति पद के लिए दोबारा नामित करने की घोषणा की।

मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी जल्द ही उपराष्ट्रपति का कार्यकाल पूरा करने वाले है। उन्होंने पूरी प्रतिष्ठा और गरिमा के साथ राज्यसभा के सभापति की भूमिका निभाई है। दूसरे कार्यकाल के लिए उन्हें अपना उम्मीदवार बनाना यूपीए के लिए गर्व की बात है।

बाद में गृहमंत्री पी. चिदम्बरम ने  बताया कि सभी उपस्थित नेताओं ने डा  अंसारी के नाम का समर्थन किया। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री और श्रीमती गांधी ने बैठक के बाद डॉ. अंसारी को फोन किया और नामांकन की पेशकश करते हुए उन्हें बधाई दी। डॉ. अंसारी ने नामांकन पर सहमति दे दी है। श्री चिदम्बरम ने बताया कि प्रधानमंत्री ने भाजपा नेता लाल कृष्ण आडवाणी, समाजवादी पार्टी के नेता मुलायम सिंह यादव, बसपा नेता मायावती और मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के नेता प्रकाश कारात से भी बात की।

भारतीय जनता पार्टी के कोर ग्रुप की नई दिल्ली में हुई बैठक में फैसला किया गया कि पार्टी उपराष्ट्रपति चुनाव लड़ेगी। बैठक के बाद पार्टी नेता अनन्त कुमार ने पत्रकारों को ये जानकारी दी।

तृणमूल कांग्रेस के प्रतिनिधि मुकुल रॉय ने बताया कि उनकी पार्टी ने गोपाल कृष्ण गांधी और कृष्णा बोस के नामों का प्रस्ताव किया था लेकिन डॉ. अंसारी के नाम का प्रस्ताव कांग्रेस ने रखा है इसलिए इस मामले में अंतिम निर्णय पार्टी नेतृत्व से परामर्श के बाद ही किया जाएगा। केन्द्रीय कृषि मंत्री और राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस पार्टी प्रमुख शरद पवार, लोक जन शक्ति पार्टी प्रमुख रामविलास पासवान और बहुजन समाज पार्टी की अध्यक्ष मायावती ने डॉ. अंसारी की उम्मीदवारी के समर्थन की घोषणा कर दी है। विपक्ष की रणनीति तय करने के लिए आज एनडीए की बैठक होगी।नामांकन इस महीने की २० तारीख तक दाखिल किए जा सकते हैं। मतदान अगले महीने की सात तारीख को होगा।

जम्मू कश्मीर और हिमाचल प्रदेश में दो अलग-अलग बस दुर्घटनाओं में २३ अमरनाथ तीर्थ यात्री मारे गए हैं और ४० से अधिक घायल हुए हैं।श्रीनगर से जम्मू जा रही बस के कल रात रामबन जिले में गहरे गड्ढे में गिर जाने से १४ तीर्थयात्रियों की मौत हो गई जबकि १९ घायल हो गये हैं। दुर्घटना कल रात लगभग ग्यारह बजे जम्मू-श्रीनगर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर डिगडॉल के निकट हुई। नौ की मौत घटनास्थल पर हो गई जबकि चार ने अस्पताल जाते समय दम तोड़ दिया। घायलों को रामबन जिला अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है। गंभीर रूप से घायलों को जम्मू के सरकारी मेडिकल कॉलेज अस्पताल भेजा गया है। कुछ घायलों की हालत गंभीर है।कल रात अंधेरे के कारण बंद पड़े राहत और बचाव कार्य सुबह फिर शुरू किये गए है। ज्यादातर पीड़ित उत्तर प्रदेश और बिहार के हैं और अमरनाथ यात्रा से लौट रहे थे।

एक अन्य दुर्घटना में कल शाम धर्मशाला से २२ किलोमीटर दूर कांगड़ा सुरंग के निकट एक गहरे गड्ढे में बस के गिर जाने से नौ तीर्थयात्रियों की मौत हो गई और ३० घायल हो गए।

राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग ने विशेष त्वरित अदालत का गठन कर गुवाहाटी में एक युवती के साथ छेड़छाड़ करने वाले सभी आरोपियों के लिए छह महीने के भीतर सख्त सजा सुनाए जाने की मांग की है। आयोग के दो सदस्यों के दल ने कल गुवाहाटी का दौरा कर मामले की छानबीन की। उन्होंने वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों से मुलाकात की और घटना के प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों से बातचीत की। बाद में उन्होंने पत्रकारों से कहा कि आयोग पीड़ित युवती को इस सदमे से उबारने के लिए मनोवैज्ञानिक परामर्श व्यवस्था करेगा।
हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया कि आयोग ने घटनास्थल पर पुलिस के देर से पहुंचने और महिला पुलिस के न होने पर नाराजगी व्यक्त की।

आयोग ने पुलिस को खासकर रात भर निगरानी तेज करने को कहा। मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई ने अतिरिक्त मुख्य सचिव एमली चौधरी को पंद्रह दिन के भीतर इस घटना का रिपोर्ट सौंपने को आदेश दिए हैं। श्री गोगोई ने घटना से जुड़े सभी आरोपियों को जल्दी गिरफ्तार करने को भी कहा है। अब तक चार लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है। जबकि सात लोग अब भी फरार हैं। पुलिस ने अभियुक्त की जानकारी देने पर नकद ईनाम की घोषणा की भी की है। मानस प्रतिम शर्मा, आकाशवाणी समाचार, गुवाहाटी।यह दल घटना की विस्तृत रिपोर्ट कल राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग की अध्यक्ष को पेश करेगा।

भारत, श्रीलंका के उत्तरी और पूर्वी प्रांतों के अशांत रहे इलाकों में विस्थापित तमिलों के लिए २७ करोड़ अमरीकी डॉलर वाली परियोजना के एक हिस्से के तहत ४३,००० मकान बनाएगा। उत्तरी प्रांत के तीन अन्य जिलों और जाफना और किलिनोच्ची में पायलट परियोजना के तहत एक हजार मकानों का निर्माण किया गया है। भारतीय आवासीय परियोजना के अगले चरण के कार्यान्वयन की निगरानी के लिए चार एजेंसियों के साथ समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए हैं।

केंद्रीय महिला और बाल विकास मंत्रालय द्वारा माहिलाओं तथा बच्चों के कल्याण के लिए कई योजनाएं चलाई जा रही हैं। इसी के तहत मध्यप्रदेश में ऊषा किरण योजना शुरू की गई है। वर्ष २००७ में शुरू की गई इस योजना के बेहतर परिणाम सामने आ रहे हैं। और ब्यौरा हमारे संवाददाता से।

घरेलू हिंसा से पीड़ित महिलाओं को संरक्षण और सहायता का अधिकार उपलब्ध कराने वाली इस योजना में अब तक २२ हजार से ज्यादा शिकायतें दर्ज की गई हैं, जिनमें से लगभग ग्यारह हजार शिकायतों का निराकरण किया जा चुका है। इसमें से आठ हजार सात सौ ८१ प्रकरणों को निराकरण, परिवार परामर्श केन्द्रों द्वार काउंसलिग की और ढाई हजार शिकायतों का निराकरण न्यायालयों के माध्यम से किया गया है। इसके अलावा पांच सौ ३७ प्रकरणों में महिलाओं को आश्रय की सुविधा दिलायी गई है, वहीं चिकित्सा सुविधा प्राप्त करने वाली महिलाओं की संख्या ९६वें रही। योजना में सबसे अधिक पांच हजार दो सौ ४६ शिकायतें बेतुल जिले से प्राप्त हुई। वहीं जबलपुर जिले में तीन हजार आठ सौ ६२ मामले दर्ज किए। सुनील तिवारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, इंदौर।

मिस्र की सर्वोच्च अपील अदालत ने संसद भंग किए जाने को चुनौती देने के लिए संसद द्वारा दायर याचिका सर्वसम्मति से खारिज कर दी है। अदालत ने कहा कि उच्चतम न्यायालय के आदेश की समीक्षा करना उसके दायरे में नहीं है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया कि उच्चतम न्यायालय ने संसद के निचले सदन के चुनावों को अवैध घोषित कर दिया था।

अभी मंगलवार को फिर से बहाल की गई संसद ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट द्वारा राष्ट्रपति के आदेश को खारिज करने के खिलाफ सर्वोच्च अपीली अदालत में याचिका दायर की। राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद मर्सी ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट के उस आदेश को रद्द कर दिया था, जिसके तहत संसद को भंग कर दिया गया था साथ ही  उन्होंने संसद को फिर से बहाल कर नये सत्र को बुलाया था। अदालत के इस फैसले को राष्ट्रपति मुर्सी के लिए एक झटके के तौर पर देखा जा रहा है। हालांकि बुधवार को राष्ट्रपति कार्यालय ने कहा था कि वे अदालत के फैसले का सम्मान करते हैं मगर कोई बीच का रास्ता निकाला जाएगा। अतुल तिवारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार।

उधर, अमरीका ने फिर कहा है कि वह मिस्र को लोकतांत्रिक प्रक्रिया सुचारू बनाने में पूर सहयोग देगा। मिस्र की यात्रा पर गई अमरीकी विदेशमंत्री हिलेरी क्लिंटन ने कल काहिरा में राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद मोरसी से मुलाकात में द्विपक्षीय और क्षेत्रीय मुद्दों पर चर्चा की। उन्होंने मिस्र को अपने देश के राजनीतिक और आर्थिक समर्थन को दोहराया। बाद में मिस्र के विदेशमंत्री मोहम्मद अम्र के साथ संयुक्त संवाददाता सम्मेलन को संबोधित करते हुए अमरीका की विदेशमंत्री ने कहा कि उनका देश मिस्र के साथ अच्छा भागीदार बनना चाहता है।

सूडान और दक्षिणी सूडान में जारी संकट के मद्देनजर दोनों देशों के राष्ट्रपतियों ने पहली बार निजी तौर पर बातचीत की है। उनकी यह मुलाकात इथियोपिया की राजधानी अदिस अबाबा में अफ्रीकी संघ की   शिखर बैठक के दौरान हुई। इस बारे में पता नहीं चला है कि दोनों नेताओं के बीच क्या बातचीत हुई। दोनों देशों के बीच अप्रैल से विवाद जारी है। अभी उनकी सीमाएं तय नहीं की गईं हैं और उनके बीच तेल क्षेत्रों को लेकर मतभेद हैं।

पाकिस्तान की खुफिया एजेंसी-आई एस आई को संसद और सरकार के प्रति जवाबदेह बनाने वाला विधेयक सीनेट से वापस ले लिया गया है। राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली जरदारी के प्रवक्ता फरहतुल्ला बाबर ने पिछले सप्ताह पाकिस्तानी संसद के ऊपरी सदन में यह विधेयक पेश किया था, लेकिन कानून मंत्री फ़ारूक़ नायक की अध्यक्षता वाली सत्तारूढ़ पाकिस्तान पीपुल्स पार्टी की विशेष समिति से मंजूरी न मिलने के बाद उन्होंने इसे वापस ले लिया। यही समिति गैर सरकारी विधेयकों को मंजूरी देती है। खबरों अनुसार, विधेयक को सीनेट के अगले सत्र में विचार के लिए पेश किया जा सकता है।

आईसीसी टेस्ट चैम्पियनशिप रैंकिंग में भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम पांचवें स्थान पर खिसक गई है जबकि पिछले वर्ष यह दुनिया की नंबर एक टीम थी। भारतीय टीम ने पिछला टेस्ट मैच जनवरी में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ खेला था। इंग्लैंड १२२ अंक के साथ पहले स्थान पर है। ऑस्ट्रेलिया दूसरे तथा दक्षिण अफ्रीका तीसरे स्थान पर है। पाकिस्तानी टीम बृहस्पतिवार को श्रीलंका में समाप्त हुई तीन टेस्ट मैचों की श्रृंखला में शून्य-एक की हार के बावजूद चौथे स्थान पर पहुंच गई है।

The ruling UPA has nominated Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari for a second term. A decision to nominate him was taken at a meeting of the UPA in New Delhi yesterday. The Prime Minister proposed Mr Ansari's name and sought suggestions from the leaders present. After the discussions, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi announced the decision of the UPA to nominate Mr Ansari for the Vice Presidential poll.
Home Minister P Chidambaram later said all leaders present at the UPA meeting accepted the candidature of Mr Ansari. Mr Ansari has accepted the nomination.  Mr Chidambaram said, the Prime Minister also spoke to BJP leader LK Advani, Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, BSP leader Mayawati and CPM leader Prakash Karat.

In the course of discussion, that the name of Shri Mohd Hamid Ansari has been agreed upon.  Prime Minister spoke to Shri L K Advani before the meeting, which indicates that there is likely to be over whelming support for Shri Ansari and sought the support of the NDA for the proposal
Trinamool Congress representative Mukul Roy said they proposed two names,  Gopal Krishna Gandhi and Krishna Bose as candidates for the Vice Presidential election but as Ansari's name was proposed by the Congress, they will take a final decision after consulting their leadership. Union Agriculture Minister and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan and BSP supremo Mayawati have also announced their support to Mr Ansari's candidature.
The BJP Core Group met in New Delhi yesterday and decided to contest the Vice Presidential Poll.  Party General Secretary Ananth Kumar said after the meeting that they will announce their candidate after consulting their allies. NDA leaders are scheduled to meet today to finalise their strategy. The last day for filing of nominations is the 20th of this month. Voting is to be held on the 7th of next month.

The National Commission for Women has demanded exemplary punishment within six months for all those accused of molesting a girl in Guwahati by constituting a Special Fast Track Court. A two member team of the Commission yesterday visited Guwahati and investigated the matter. They met senior officials and also spoke to  witnesses to the incident. Talking to newspersons later, they said the Commission will arrange counseling for the victim. More from our correspondent:

The Commission expressed dissatisfaction at the late arrival of police in the scene and absence of women police. They asked the Police to intensify night patrolling. They will submit the detailed report on the incident to the Chairperson of National Commission for Women tomorrow. The Commission is likely to meet Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today evening. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, NCPCR has complained to the Press Council of India about the disclosure of the identity of the girl student who was forced to drink her own urine by a school warden in Shanti Niketan. The NCPCR said in a statement yesterday that the print media has been, of late, violating provisions under the Juvenile Justice Act by publishing names and other details of the victims. The commission has asked the Press Council to circulate an advisory or set a protocol to the media to refrain from disclosing identities of such children.

At least 24 Amarnath pilgrims have been killed and more than 40 injured in two separate bus accidents in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.15 Amarnath pilgrims were killed, while 17 others injured when a bus on its way from Srinagar to Jammu rolled down into a deep gorge in Ramban District last night. The accident occurred on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway near Digdoll around 11 p.m. Nine persons were killed on the spot while four others succumbed to injuries on  way to hospital.
The injured were rushed to the District Hospital Ramban. However, owing to their serious condition the injured were referred to the Government Medical College Jammu Hospital. The condition of some of the injured is said to be critical. Search operations were abandoned due to darkness and were resumed in the morning. Most of the victims were from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and were returning from the Amarnath yatra.
In another accident, nine Amarnath pilgrims were killed last evening and thirty injured as the bus they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge near the Kangra  tunnel, 22-Km from Dharamsala. Additional DGP, S R Mardi said in Shimla that the accident happened when the private bus with 40 pilgrims on board, was returning to Delhi from the Amarnath Yatra after visiting some temples in Himachal Pradesh. Most of the victims were from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

In Egypt, the Court of Cassation, the Highest Appellate court has unanimously dismissed a lawsuit filed by parliament against its dissolution. The court said it has no jurisdiction to review the Supreme Court ruling which held the elections to the lower house of parliament legally invalid. The recalled Egyptian parliament at its brief session on Tuesday had moved the Highest Court of Appeals to review the Supreme Constitutional Court ruling to reject the Presidential decree. The new President Mohammed Mursi had revoked the apex court ruling to dissolve the parliament and ordered its recall. The decision is being viewed as a fresh blow to President Mohd Mursi. Analysts say the stand taken by President Mohd Mursi was being seen as an affront to the judiciary and military council who endorsed the dissolution of the parliament. There has been no official comments on the latest court ruling.On Wednesday, President’s office had stated that it respects the apex court orders and consultations will be held with political powers and legal institutions to break the impasse Atul Tiwary,AIR News

The United States has reaffirmed its strong support to the democratic transition in Egypt. The visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met the Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi in Cairo yesterday and discussed bilateral and regional issues. She reiterated her country's political and economic support to Egypt. Later addressing a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Mohammed Amr she said the United States want to be a good partner with Egypt and lauded the role of Egyptians in their pursuit of democracy.

India will construct 43,000 housing units for displaced Tamils in Sri Lanka's former war zones of the north and the east, as part of a 270 million  dollar project. A pilot project has already seen the construction of 1,000 houses in Jaffna, Killinochchi and three other districts of the Northern Province. The Indian High Commission signed agreements with four implementing agencies, that will oversee the implementation of the next phase of the Indian Housing Project for the 43,000 housing units. These houses are estimated to meet the bulk of the housing needs of the war displaced Tamil civilians and will be implemented under the owner driven model . The project is also expected to contribute to the livelihood activities in the region.  The construction of the these houses for resettlement and rehabilitation of the war affected is part of the overall commitment to build 50,000 houses, which was announced by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during the State visit of the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to India in June 2010. New Delhi has extended the ban on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, LTTE,  declaring that it continues to adopt a strong anti-India posture and pose a grave threat to the security of its citizens. A notification issued by the Home Ministry in New Delhi said the activities of the LTTE are detrimental to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India and there is a continuing need to control all such separatist activities. The LTTE was banned in India in the aftermath of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991.

In Bangladesh, a special court has sentenced a total of 253 jawans of the Bangladesh Rifles, now revamped as the Border Guard Bangladesh, to different jail terms for their involvement in the mutiny in February 2009. A total of 256 jawans of the hospital unit were accused  in the case. The Special Court-10 acquitted three jawans. Out of the 253 jawans found guilty, 34 were given the highest punishment of a seven-year jail term.

A Bill aimed at making the Pakistan Intelligence Agency - ISI - accountable to Parliament and  the government has been withdrawn from the Senate. The bill was submitted to the upper house of Parliament last week by President Asif Ali Zardari's spokesman Farhatullah Babar. But he reportedly withdrew the bill as he had not got it approved by a special committee of the ruling Pakistan People's Party headed by Law Minister Farook  Naek. This committee approves all private members' bills.

The Indian origin astronaut Sunita Williams is to take off shortly from the Baikonur Cosmodrome as part of the International Space Station Crew  on board soyuz spacecraft. A three member crew is on board the spacecraft. This is the second space mission for Sunita Williams.

India has slipped to the fifth spot in the latest ICC Test Championship rankings from being the number one test side, a year ago. The Indian team that last played a Test match in January against Australia, has swapped places with Pakistan which has moved up to fourth position. This came despite Pakistan's 0-1 defeat in the just concluded three-Test series in Sri Lanka.

The Indian Olympic Association, IOA, has sought to steer clear of the controversy over tainted Suresh Kalmadi attending the London Olympic Games. The IOA said that Kalmadi is not a member of the IOA delegation. IOA Acting President V K Malhotra said that Kalmadi himself had not asked the national apex sports body to include him as part of the delegation. Mr Malhotra said in a statement that the Indian contingent for the Games was finalised a month back and Kalmadi does not figure in it.

The renomination of Hamid Ansari as the UPA's vice presidential nominee dominates the front pages of most papers. "Ansari gets UPA nod, set to return as VP" writes the Hindustan Times. Speculating about the possible opposition candidate after the BJP officially announced that it favoured a contest, the Asian Age asks "Opposition to field Sharad Yadav?"
The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's observations on the rural employment guarantee scheme, MNREGA, while releasing a collection of research studies on the scheme are highlighted in all the papers. "NREGA not in good shape, admits PM" writes the Pioneer. The Times of India reports "PM seeks quick fix for delayed NREGS payments".
The papers report a new twist in the Guwahati molestation case. The Pioneer reports on its front page "RTI activist alleges reporter instigated molestation; TV channel rebuts".
All the papers take note of the Khap Mahapanchayat in Jind which was attended by leaders of over 300 khaps from Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. "Khaps leaders say female foeticide is murder" writes the Mail Today. Highlighting the participation of over 200 women at the meet, the Times of India reports "Now, Haryana women conquer Khap bastion".
Most papers take note of the criticism that the Thorat panel report  has evoked. This panel had looked into the use of cartoons in school textbooks. "NCERT's apex body slams Thorat report" writes the Tribune. The Indian Express reports the National Monitoring Committee of the NCERT as saying "Thorat report hastily done, lacks depth".

असम में गुवाहाटी में एक युवती के साथ छेड़छाड़ की हाल की घटना के सिलसिले में आज दो और लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया  है। इस तरह इस मामले में छह लोग गिरफ्तार किए जा चुके हैं। पांच लोग अब भी फरार हैं और एक की अभी पहचान नहीं हो पाई है। पुलिस के अनुसार इस मामले में एक उप निरीक्षक को निलम्बित किया गया है।  हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई ने कल अपराधियों को पकड़ने के लिए  पुलिस को ४८ घंटे की समयसीमा दी थी। मामले की जांच के लिए एक विशेष कार्यदल बनाया गया है।

असम पुलिस ने आरोपियों को पकडने के लिए निगरानी तेज कर दिए हैं। पुलिस ने अभियुक्त की जानकारी देने पर नकद ईनाम की घोषणा की। साथ ही इस मामले में पडोसी प्रदेश से भी मदद ले रहे हैं। राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग ने घटनास्थल पर पुलिस के देर से और महिला पुलिस के बिना पहुंचने के कारण असंतोष व्यक्त की थी। आयोग ने पुलिस को खासकर रात में निगरानी तेज करने को कहा है। गौरतलब है कि मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई ने मुख्य सचिव एमली चौधरी को पंद्रह दिन के भीतर इस घटना का रिपोर्ट सौंपने को आदेश दिए हैं। श्री गोगोई ने घटना से जुडे+ सभी आरोपियों को जल्द ही गिरफ्‌तार करने को कहा है। मानस प्रतिम शर्मा, आकाशवाणी समाचार, गुवाहाटी।

राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग के दो सदस्यों ने कल गुवाहाटी का दौरा किया और मामले की जांच की। आयोग ने विशेष फास्ट ट्रैक अदालत बनाकर सभी आरोपियों को छह महीने के भीतर सजा  की मांग की। आयोग के दल ने वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों से मुलाकात की और घटना के प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों से भी बातचीत की। बाद में उन्होंने बताया कि आयोग, पीड़ित युवती को सदमे से उबारने के लिए मनोवैज्ञानिक परामर्श की व्यवस्था करेगा। यह दल कल आयोग की अध्यक्ष को अपनी विस्तृत रिपोर्ट सौंपेगा।

राष्ट्रीय बाल अधिकार संरक्षण आयोग ने मीडिया  से आग्रह किया है कि हिंसा का शिकार हुए बच्चों की पहचान सार्वजनिक न की जाये। पश्चिम बंगाल में विश्वभारती विश्वविद्यालय की कक्षा पॉंच की एक छात्रा को बिस्तर गीला करने पर स्व मूत्र पीने के कथित दण्ड की घटना के मद्देनजर यह निर्देश आया है। राष्ट्रीय बाल अधिकार संरक्षण आयोग की अध्यक्ष शान्ता सिन्हा ने बाल न्याय अधिनियम की धारा-२१ के उल्लंघन के लिए, भारतीय प्रैस परिषद तथा सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्रालय से कार्रवाई के बारे में लिखा है। आयोग ने प्रैस परिषद से यह भी कहा है कि वह प्रिन्ट मीडिया संगठनों को सलाह जारी कर यह बताये कि पीड़ित बच्चों की पहचान तथा घर और स्कूल के पते के बारे में अत्यधिक संवेदनशीलता बरतें।

हरियाणा, उत्तरप्रदेश, दिल्ली और राजस्थान की डेढ़ सौ से अधिक खाप की महापंचायत ने कन्या भू्रण हत्या करने वालों पर, हत्या का मुकदमा चलाने के लिए भारतीय दण्ड संहिता में संशोधन की मांग करते हुए एक प्रस्ताव पारित किया है। अभी इस अपराध के लिए अधिकतम पांच वर्ष की कैद की सजा दी जा सकती है। हरियाणा में जींद के बीबीपुर गांव में हुई महापंचायत में ११ सदस्यों की एक समिति बनाई गई है, जो कन्या भू्रण हत्या रोकने के लिए विशेष अभियान चलाएगी।

देश में इस मौसम में गेहूं की खरीद तीन करोड़, ८० लाख टन से अधिक हो गई है। कई राज्यों में गेहूं की खरीद समाप्ति पर है। सरकारी आंकड़ों के अनुसार सबसे अधिक एक करोड़, २८ लाख टन गेहूं की खरीद पंजाब में हुई। इसके बाद हरियाणा, मध्यप्रदेश और उत्तरप्रदेश का स्थान है। इस वर्ष तीन करोड़, १८ लाख टन के निर्धारित लक्ष्य से कहीं अधिक खरीददारी की गई है। पिछले वर्ष इसी अवधि में सरकार ने दो करोड़, ८० लाख टन गेहूं खरीदा था।

उत्तरप्रदेश में चीनी मिलों पर, गन्ना किसानों के पिछले पिराई मौसम के अब भी  लगभग बीस अरब रूपये बकाया हैं। उच्चतम न्यायालय ने सात जुलाई तक यह भुगतान करने का आदेश दिया था। हमारे  संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि भुगतान न करने वाले अधिकतर बड़े निजी चीनी मिल मालिक हैं, जिन पर लगभग १९ अरब बीस करोड़ रूपये बकाया हैं।

उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने सहकारी क्षेत्र की चीनी मिलों पर किसानों के बकाये की अदायगी के लिए चार सौ करोड़ रूपये उपलब्ध कराये हैं। सहकारी चीनी मिलों पर किसानों का पांच सौ छप्पन करोड़ रूपये बकाया है। सरकार ने बाकी १५६ करोड़ रूपये की अदायगी के लिए भी विभागीय अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिए हैं। निजी क्षेत्र की चीनी मिलों पर सर्वाधिक एक हजार ९२० करोड़ रूपये का बकाया है। इसमें भी सर्वाधिक बकाया बजाज समूहों की चीनी मिलों पर है। अन्य निजी चीनी मिलों पर किसानों का दस से ८८ करोड़ रूपये तक का बकाया है। निजी क्षेत्र की चीनी मिल मालिकों ने वर्ष २०११-१२ के लिए निर्धारित  गन्ना मूल्य को न्यायालयों में चुनौती दी थी। लेकिन सर्वोच्च और उच्च न्यायालयों ने सरकार के निर्णय को सही ठहराया था। सुनील शुक्ल आकाशवाणी समाचार इलाहाबाद।

मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी ने कहा है कि वे उपराष्ट्रपति पद के लिए दूसरी बार अपने नामांकन के यूपीए के फैसले को नम्रतापूर्वक स्वीकार करते हैं। कल यूपीए की बैठक के बाद उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री, यूपीए अध्यक्ष और गठबंधन के दलों को धन्यवाद दिया।

भारतीय मूल की अमरीकी नागरिक सुनीता विलिम्यस आज   कज+ाकिस्तान के बायकानूर केन्द्र से रूसी अंतरिक्ष यान मे दूसरी बार अंतरिक्ष मिशन के लिए रवाना हुई । ४६ वर्षीया सुनीता विलिम्यस के साथ फ्लाइट इंजीनियर जापान के अकीहिको होशिदे और रूस के यूरी मेलेनचेनको भी गए हैं। यह अंतरिक्ष यान भारतीय समयानुसार सुबह आठ बजकर दस मिनट पर छोड़ा गया। यह मंगलवार को दिन में दस बजकर २२ मिनट पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष केन्द्र से जुड़ेगा। सुनीता अंतरिक्ष केन्द्र में अन्य वैज्ञानिकों और इंजीनियरों के साथ तीस से भी अधिक  शोध करेंगी। सुनीता विलियम्स के पिता गुजरात से हैं। सुनीता ने २००६ में १९५ दिन अंतरिक्ष में रहकर रिकार्ड बनाया था । अहमदाबाद से हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि पूरे गुजरात राज्य में उनकी सफलता की कामना की जा रही है।

भारतीय अमरीकी अंतरिक्ष यांत्री सुनीता विलियम्स ने आज जब कजाकिस्तान के बेकानूर से अंतरिक्ष के लिए जब दूसरी उड़ान भरी तब पूरे गुजरात के लोग उनकी सफलता के लिए प्रार्थना और दुआ कर रहे थे। गुजराती मूल के श्री दीपक भाई पांडया की  बेटी सुनीता अपनी सफल पहली अंतरिक्ष यात्रा के बाद  २००७ में अपने वतन गुजरात आई थी, तब न केवल वह खुद रोमांचित थी, लेकिन गुजराती युवा छात्रों के लिए भी प्रेरणा मूर्ति बन गई थी।  आज सुनीता विलियम्स की उडान से पहले उनके पैतृक गांव मेसाणा जिले के जुरासंघ के लोग काफी उत्साहित थे और सुनीता की सफल वापसी का इंतजार कर रहे हैं। कच्छ के सुप्रसिद्ध आशापूरा माता के मंदिर में  विज्ञान के ५० छात्रों ने सुनीता के लिए विशेष प्रार्थना की। गुजरात के लोग इस बात से भी बडे रोमांचित हैं कि गुजरात की बेटी सुनीता अपनी दूसरी अंतरिक्ष यात्रा में गुजराती मिठाई और समोसे साथ लेकर जा रही है। यह पहला अवसर है भारतीय व्यंजन अंतरिक्ष में अपनी जगह बना रहे हैं। योगेश पांडया आकाशवाणी समाचार, अहमदाबाद।

भारत ने चीन से अत्यधिक मात्रा में रसायन की डंपिंग की जांच शुरू कर दी है। देश की कुछ कंपनियों की शिकायत के बाद ये जांच कराई जा रही है। यह रसायन मुख्य रूप से फोटोग्राफी और मेडिकल में उपयोग होता है। वाणिज्य मंत्रालय के अधीन डम्पिंग रोधी और सम्बद्ध शुल्क महानिदेशालय ने मेटा फिनाइलिन डाइअमाइन रसायन की देश में डम्पिंग की जांच शुरू कर दी है। महानिदेशालय का कहना है कि जांच शुरू करने के लिए पर्याप्त आधार है। जांच के बाद वाणिज्य मंत्रालय इस रसायन पर शुल्क लगाने के बारे में वित्त मंत्रालय को सिफारिश करेगा।

वियतनाम ने संसाधनों से भरपूर दक्षिण चीन सागर में हाइड्रो कार्बन की खोज की परियोजना का अनुबंध भारत के साथ बढ़ाने का फैसला किया है। हनोई में एक वरिष्ठ सरकारी अधिकारी ने भारतीय पत्रकारों को बताया कि सरकार, ओ एन जी सी विदेश लिमिटेड के साथ अनुबंध के विस्तार की जल्दी ही औपचारिक घोषणा करेगी। दक्षिण चीन सागर में प्रभुत्व को लेकर चीन के अमरीका, भारत और कई आसियान देशों से मतभेद हैं। इसे अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय नियमों के अनुसार सम्बद्ध देशों के साथ सुलझाने पर जोर दिया जा रहा है।

जम्मू कश्मीर और हिमाचल प्रदेश में दो अलग-अलग बस दुर्घटनाओं में अमरनाथ के २४  तीर्थ यात्री मारे गए हैं और ४० से अधिक घायल हुए हैं। श्रीनगर से जम्मू जा रही एक बस के कल रात रामबन जिले में गहरे गड्ढे में गिर जाने से १५ तीर्थयात्रियों की मौत हो गई जबकि १७ घायल हो गये। दुर्घटना कल रात लगभग ग्यारह बजे जम्मू-श्रीनगर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर दिगडोल के निकट हुई। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि ज्यादातर पीड़ित उत्तर प्रदेश और बिहार के हैं और अमरनाथ यात्रा से लौट रहे थे।

जम्मू कश्मीर सरकार ने सड़क दुर्घटना में मारे गये १५ लोगों के परिवार  को एक- एक लाख रुपए देने की घोषणा की है। एक सरकारी प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि प्रत्येक घायल को दस हजार रूपये की राशि दी जायेगी। मुख्यमंत्री उमर अब्दुल्ला ने इस दुर्घटना पर गहरा दुख व्यक्त किया है। एक अन्य दुर्घटना में कल शाम धर्मशाला से २२ किलोमीटर दूर कांगड़ा सुरंग के निकट एक गहरे गड्ढे में बस के गिर जाने से नौ तीर्थयात्रियों की मौत हो गई और ३० घायल हो गए। अतिरिक्त पुलिस महानिदेशक एस.आर. मर्दी ने शिमला में बताया कि इस निजी बस में ४० तीर्थ यात्री अमरनाथ से दिल्ली लौटने के बाद हिमाचल प्रदेश के कुछ मंदिरों में दर्शन के लिए जा रहे थे।  ज्यादातर यात्री दिल्ली और उत्तर प्रदेश के हैं।

मणिपुर की राजधानी इंफाल और उसके आस पास के सभी तेल पम्प तेल की कमी की वजह से आज बंद हैं। राज्य उपभोक्ता मामले, खाद्य और सार्वजनिक वितरण विभाग ने पिछली रात से तेल पम्पों को पैट्रोल आपूर्ति पर रोक लगाने का आदेश दिया था। नगालैंड के दक्षिणी अनगामी युवा संगठन-सायो द्वारा अनिश्चितकालीन नाकेबंदी  की वजह से मणिपुर में पैट्रोल और डीजल के भंडारण में काफी कमी आ गई है। हालांकि नौ दिनों के बाद बीती रात से नाकेबंदी हटा ली गई है।

The Assam Police today arrested two more persons in connection with the Guwahati mob molestation incident. With this the total number of arrests in the case has now gone upto six. Five more remain on the run, while one is yet to be identified. According to the police, a sub-inspector has also been suspended in the case. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi yesterday set a 48-hour deadline for the police to nab the culprits. A Special Task Force has also been constituted to look into the matter.
A two member team of the National Commission for Women yesterday visited Guwahati and investigated the matter. The team met senior officials and also spoke to witnesses to the incident. Talking to news persons later, it said the Commission will arrange counselling for the victim. Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari has said that he accepts the UPA's decision to nominate him for the second term with all humility. Talking to media persons after his name was endorsed at the meeting of UPA partners in New Delhi, he thanked  Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandi and the UPA partners who have supported his  candidature and for the confidence reposed in him.
The ruling UPA had yesterday nominated Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari. Home Minister P Chidambaram later said all leaders present at the UPA meeting, accepted the candidature of Mr. Ansari. He said the Prime Minster and Sonia Gandhi rang up Hamid Ansari after the meeting and offered him the nomination and congratulated him. Chidambaram said, the Prime Minister also spoke to BJP leader L K Advani, Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam singh Yadav, BSP leader Mayawati and CPM leader Prakash Karat on the issue.
Union Agriculture Minister and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan and BSP supremo Mayawati have also announced their support to Hamid Ansari's candidature. If elected, Ansari will be the second person in 50 years to get a consecutive term as Vice President after Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
On the other hand, the BJP Core Group which also met in New Delhi yesterday, decided to contest the Vice Presidential Poll. Party General Secretary Ananth Kumar said after the meeting that they will announce their candidate after consulting their allies. He said that a meeting of BJP allies has been convened tomorrow to discuss the issue.
The last day for filing of nominations for the Vice Presidential poll is the 20th of this month, a day after the Presidential poll. Voting is to be held on the 7th of next month.

Wheat procurement has crossed 38 million tonnes in the current marketing year so far as the government's wheat purchase drive is coming to close in most of the growing states. According to the official data, maximum 12.8 million tonnes of wheat has been procured from Punjab followed by Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The quantity of the grain procured as of now is much higher than the targeted 31.8 million tonnes for the current year. In the same period last year, the government had purchased only 28 million tonnes of wheat.

In Uttar Pradesh, about 2000 crore rupees are still pending on sugar cane mills for payment to the sugar cane farmers for the last crushing season. The Supreme Court had fixed July 7 as dead line for the payments. Our Correspondent has filed this report:
The state government has released 400 crore rupees for the clearance of the dues amounting to 566 crore rupees on the UP Cooperative Sugar Federation. The government has asked the officials to arrange remaining fund of 156 crore rupees to clear the entire dues. The biggest defaulters are the private sugar mills, who have to pay around 1,920 crore rupees as cane dues. The highest dues are on the Bajaj group. About 10 to 88 crore rupees are pending to other private mills. The government has said that the recovery notice and deterrent action will be taken against the defaulting private mill owners. Expressing grief over the death of 15 persons in a road mishap, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today announced an ex-gratia relief of one lakh rupees to the next of kin of each victim. An official spokesman said that Omar also sanctioned a sum of 10,000 rupees each for those injured in the mishap that took place in Ramban district last night.
Fifteen people, believed to be Amarnath pilgrims, were killed and 18 others injured when an SRTC bus skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar highway and rolled down into a deep gorge. The State Road Transport Corporation bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims was on its way from Kashmir Valley to Jammu when it rolled down into the Digdol nallah last night.

Indian-American Sunita Williams, a record-setting astronaut today took off on her second space mission in a Russian spacecraft from Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Forty six year-old Sunita Williams is accompanied by two flight engineers --Japan's Akihiko Hoshide and Yury Malenchenko of Russia. Sunita who lived and worked aboard the International Space Station for six months in 2006, departed on a two-day voyage to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft at around 08:10 IST.
Russian news agency Ria Novosti reports, the Soyuz TMA is due to dock with the ISS's Zvezda service module at 10:22 IST on Tuesday. Sunita, a flight engineer on the station's Expedition 32 crew, will take over as commander of Expedition 33 on reaching the space station. The crew will join the current ISS occupants who have been in orbit since mid-May. The new crew members are expected to conduct over 30 scientific missions during their stay on board the ISS.  In the space, they plan an orbital sporting event to mark the Summer Olympics in London.    
Sunita Williams, whose father hailed from Gujarat, holds the record of the longest space flight, that is 195 days for  female space travellers. She received a Master's degree from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1995.

India has initiated a probe into alleged dumping of a chemical, mainly used in photography and medical applications, by China following complaints by domestic players. The Commerce Ministry's designated authority, the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties, DGDA has started an investigation into alleged dumping of 'Meta Phenylene Diamine'. In a notification, the DGAD said that it has sufficient evidence of dumping of the product from China to justify initiation of an anti-dumping investigation.
It will determine the existence, degree and effect of any alleged dumping and to recommend the amount of anti-dumping duty, which, if levied, would be adequate to remove the injury to the domestic industry. After completion of the probe, the commerce ministry would recommend the duty and the finance ministry would impose the restrictive duty.

Wanting to hold on to Indian presence in the resource-rich South China Sea, Vietnam has decided to extend the contract for exploration of hydrocarbons in a crucial oil block in the region to ONGC Videsh Ltd. OVL had earlier indicated to the Vietnamese authorities its plans to terminate operations in the 128 block as it could not begin oil exploration due to hard sea bed and wanted to quit for techno commercial reasons.
A top government official told a group of visiting Indian journalists in Hanoi that a formal announcement to extend the contract for exploration of hydrocarbons in the block to the overseas arm of ONGC, is going to take place soon.
The development came amid rising tension in the South China Sea with US, India and a number of ASEAN countries, asking China to resolve the standoff through talks with the concerned countries as per international law.

In Afghanistan, International Security Assistance Force has condemned the suicide attack at a wedding ceremony that left 17 people killed and 43 wounded in northern Samangan province yesterday. A press release Gen. John R. Allen, Commander of the International Security Assistance Force has offered his sincerest condolences and prayers to the family and friends who are suffering from the loss of their loved ones.
Those who lost their lives include Ahmad Khan Samangani, member of lower house of Afghan parliament and the provincial chief of Afghan Intelligence Agency. Pritpal Singh an Afghan Sikh and vice president of Sikh Gurudwara in Kabul who was seriously injured in the attack succumbed to his injuries last night.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has also strongly condemned the suicide bombing.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is ready to rejoin the six-party talks. Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun said this in Phnom Penh yesterday. A Cambodian Foreign Ministry spokesman Koy Kuong said Mr. Pak confirmed his country's readiness to return to the stalled talks, aimed at denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula during a meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong. Hor, who had lobbied the DPRK to return to the negotiating table during a visit to Pyongyang last month, said Cambodia welcomed Pyongyang's decision.

In Pakistan, a stray mortar bomb smashed through a house in a village in the northwestern Khyber province early today, killing three children and their mother and injuring their father. Local media report said, the pre-dawn incident took place in Shaikhan village, a suburb of Peshawar close to the Khyber tribal district, where the military is fighting against local warlord Mangal Bagh and his Lashkar-e-Islam faction.
Senior police officer, Shafiullah Khan said the victims were asleep. Khan said, it was not yet clear who fired the mortar bomb but Pakistani troops and Mangal Bagh's fighters exchange fire on a daily basis. According to Pakistani officials, more than 250,000 people have fled the fighting in Khyber since January.

In Pakistan, Taliban militants today bombed a government-run high school for boys in the outskirts of Peshawar, partly destroying the building. The remote-controlled bomb was planted on the outer wall of the school. Islamist militants oppose girls education and have destroyed hundreds of schools, mostly for girls, in northwest Pakistan in recent years.

Thousands of Israelis rallied yesterday in Tel Aviv calling for social justice. A protester spilled inflammable substances and set himself on fire after reading out a letter saying the State of Israel has robbed him and left him with nothing. Emergency rescue service said the man suffered from second and third degree burn over 80 percent of his body and had been hospitalized. The protest in Tel Aviv was organized by some prominent activists. They said prices of food, electricity and gas were killing them. There's no real free education system in the country and affording an apartment is a dream. The protesters held slogans calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and demand a welfare state.

A Mahapanchayat of over 150 khaps or village bodies of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan, has passed a resolution seeking an amendment in the Indian Penal Code to book people indulging in female foeticide on charge of murder. At present they can be sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of five years. A spokesman of khaps said that the mahapanchayat has sought support of all the khaps of north India to set a precedent to counter the social evil of female foeticide. The Mahapanchayat organised at Bibipur village of Jind district of Haryana, has constituted a 11 member committee headed by Palam based Khap leader Ram Karan Solanki to carry out a concerted drive against female foeticide.

As part of post harvest requirements farmers need cold storage units, refrigerator vans and containers, pack houses, mobile and stationary processing units, marketing infrastructure, facilities for collection and grading and transportation of produce. It is to address these issues , schemes had been formulated under the National Horticulture Mission. In Visakhapatnam District, the Mission is supporting the establishment of pack houses which can be set up at a cost of Rs. 2 lakh 50 thousand per unit. Credit linked back ended subsidy at 25 per cent of the capital cost of the project in general areas and 33.33 per cent in case of hilly and tribal areas for individual entrepreneurs is being extended by the Horticulture Department. Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari today said that the heroic deeds of Brigadier Mohd Usman would continue to inspire the Indian Army in the years to come.   Addressing  the Birth Centenary function of Late Brigadier  in New Delhi, he said that Brig Usman will always be remembered for his exceptional  work during the partition in 1947, when he was vested with the responsibility of 50,000 Hindus and Sikh refugees as the Garrison Commander of Multan. He said that Brigadier Usman was the senior most Indian Army Officer to make the ultimate sacrifice during the Jammu and Kashmir operations of 1947-48. The Vice President said, as a war hero, his name in the history of India and in annals of military history will always be written in gold.

नेपाल में आज एक नहर में यात्री बस के गिर जाने से मारे गए  ३९ यात्रियों के शव निकाले जा चुके हैं। इनमें ३६ भारतीय बताये जाते हैं।  २७ लोगों को बचा लिया गया है, जिनमें दस भारतीय हैं। घायलों को नेपाल के नवलपरासी और चौपटा अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है। हमारी संवाददाता ने बताया है कि मृतकों की संख्या बढ़ सकती है क्योंकि नहर से अब भी शव निकाले जा रहे हैं।

भारतीय सीमा के समीप गुलामपुरी से नेपाल के त्रिवेणीधाम जा रही बस दुर्घटनाग्रस्त होकर भारत-नेपाल सीमा के करीब नवलपरासी जिले में खुडिया के निकट आज दोपहर बाद गण्डक नहर में जा गिरी। बस में बड़ी संख्या में यात्री सवार थे जिनमें से अधिकतर उत्तर प्रदेश के महाराजगंज जिले के थे। स्थानीय पुलिस का कहना है कि यात्रियों के अनुसार बस में करीब ७० से ८० लोग सवार थे। जो वार्षिक बोलबम उत्सव पर भगवान शिव की पूर्जा अर्चना के लिए त्रिवेणी धाम जा रहे थे।

नई दिल्ली में विदेश मंत्रालय के अनुसार नेपाल के अधिकारी घटनास्थल पर पहुंच गए हैं और राहत तथा बचाव कार्य में मदद कर रहे हैं। गण्डक बांध के बहाव को नियंत्रित कर दिया गया है ताकि राहत और बचाव कार्य में कोई बाधा न आए।
राहत और बचाव कार्य में नेपाली अधिकारियों की सहायता के लिए भारतीय दूतावास ने डॉक्टरों सहित विशेष दल भेज दिये हैं। काठमांडु स्थित भारतीय दूतावास में सूचना केन्द्र खोल दिये गये हैं जिनके फोन नम्बर हैं:- ० ०-९ ७ ७ -१-४ ४ १ २ १ २ ५ और ० ०-९ ७ ७-१ -४ ४ १ १ ६ ९ ९, एक्सटेंशन ४ १ ० ९ .
नेपाल की सीमा से लगे भारतीय जिलों के अधिकारी भी घटनास्थल के लिए रवाना हो गए हैं। घटनास्थल के समीप भारतीय सीमा पर तैनात सीमा सुरक्षाबल के जवानों को भी सहायता उपलब्ध कराने के लिए सतर्क कर दिया गया है।

असम में सोमवार रात को एक किशोरी से छेड़छाड़ के मामले में अब तक सात लोगों को गिरफ्‌तार किया जा चुका है। पुलिस ने कल तीन और लोगों को गिरफ्‌तार किया। कामरूप मेट्रो के वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधीक्षक अपूर्व जीवन बरुआ ने बताया कि छह लोग अभी भी फरार हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि दो लोगों को गुवाहाटी में पकड़ा गया जबकि एक अन्य दोषी को कल रात बोंगईगांव जिले के बिजनी में स्थानीय लोगों ने पकड़ा। पुलिस ने पुष्टि की कि बिजनी में पकड़ा गया व्यक्ति भी छेड़छाड़ की घटना में शामिल था।

पुलिस के एक सबइस्पेक्टर को नौकरी से निलम्बित किया गया। मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगई ने लापरवाही बरतने वाले पुलिसकर्मी या अफसरों के खिलाफ भी कदम उठाने के निर्देश दिये थे। पुलिस ने सभी आरोपियों को पकड़ने के लिए तलाशी अभियान तेज कर दिये हैं साथ ही इस मामले में पड़ोसियों राज्यों से भी मदद ले रहे हैं। इधर, गुवाहाटी से आज दिल्ली लौटने के बाद राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग के दो सदस्य वाले दल कल आयोग की अध्यक्षका को इस मामले में रिपोर्ट सौंपेंगे। प्रदेश के नागरिक संगठनों ने आज गुवाहाटी के डिगलीपुकरी में एक जुटहोकर दोषियों को जल्द गिरफ्‌तार करने की मांग की।

राष्ट्रीय बाल अधिकार संरक्षण आयोग ने मीडिया  से आग्रह किया है कि हिंसा का शिकार हुए बच्चों की पहचान सार्वजनिक न की जाये। पश्चिम बंगाल में विश्वभारती विश्वविद्यालय की कक्षा पॉंच की एक छात्रा को बिस्तर गीला करने पर स्व मूत्र पीने के कथित दण्ड की घटना के मद्देनजर यह निर्देश आया है।
राष्ट्रीय बाल अधिकार संरक्षण आयोग की अध्यक्ष शान्ता सिन्हा ने बाल न्याय अधिनियम की धारा-२१ के उल्लंघन के लिए, भारतीय प्रैस परिषद तथा सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्रालय से कार्रवाई के बारे में लिखा है।

हरियाणा सरकार ने गैर-सरकारी संस्थानों द्वारा चलाए जा रहे बाल गृहों की जांच के लिए राज्य और जिला स्तर पर समितियां गठित की हैं। सरकार ने यह कदम अपना घर पर उठे विवाद के बाद उठाया है, जिसकी जांच अभी सीबीआई कर रही है। सरकारी प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि ये समितियां  सुधार के लिए सुझाव भी देंगी। समिति के सदस्य एनजीओ के सदस्यों की अनुपस्थिति में वहां रहने वाले बच्चों से बातचीत करेंगे और उन्हें मिल रही सुविधाओं के बारे में जानकारी इकट्ठा करेंगे।

राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन-एन डी ए के सहयोगी दलों की कल होने वाली बैठक में उप राष्ट्रपति पद के उम्मीदवार के बारे में चर्चा होगी। भारतीय जनता पार्टी के महासचिव अनंत कुमार ने बताया कि पार्टी ने उप राष्ट्रपति का चुनाव लड़ने का फैसला किया है। कल नई दिल्ली में हुई पार्टी के कोर गु्रप की बैठक के बाद उन्होंने कहा कि व्यापक विचार विमर्श और सहयोगी दलों से परामर्श के बाद एन डी ए के उम्मीदवार की घोषणा की जाएगी।
सत्तारूढ़ संयुक्त प्रगतिशील गठबंधन-यू पी ए ने कल उप राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी को दूसरे कार्यकाल के लिए नामांकित किया था।
उप राष्ट्रपति के चुनाव के लिए इस महीने की २० तारीख तक नामांकन पत्र भरे जा सकेंगे। चुनाव अगले महीने की ७ तारीख को होगा।

अमरीका के राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा ने कहा है कि भारत और पाकिस्तान अपने विवाद स्वयं ही हल कर सकते हैं। भारत-पाक वार्ता प्रक्रिया का स्वागत करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि अमरीका सहित कोई भी देश बाहर से समस्या का समाधान थोप नहीं सकता है। श्री ओबामा ने कहा कि सभी देशों को अपनी जिम्मेदारी निभानी चाहिए और विश्व संस्थाओं को एक स्थिर, खुशहाल और लोकतांत्रिक पाकिस्तान में गहरी रूचि है।
श्री ओबामा ने पी टी आई को बताया कि भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच व्यापार और  बढ़ते संबंध से दोनों ही देशों में खुशहाली और आपसी सद्भावना बढ़ेगी।
खुदरा व्यापार सहित अनेक क्षेत्रों में विदेशी निवेश पर भारतीय प्रतिबंध का उल्लेख करते हुए श्री ओबामा ने निवेश वातावरण में गिरावट पर चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए आर्थिक सुधार की जरूरत पर बल दिया।
भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था को सकारात्मक बताते हुए उंन्होंने कहा कि विकास की दर उत्साहवर्धक है। उनका यह भी कहना था कि कुछ हद तक वैश्विक आर्थिक मंदी के कारण भी भारत के विकास दर में गिरावट आई है।

भारतीय मूल की अमरीकी नागरिक सुनीता विलिम्यस आज   कज+ाकिस्तान के बायकानूर केन्द्र से रूसी अंतरिक्ष यान मे दूसरी बार अंतरिक्ष मिशन के लिए रवाना हुई। ४६ वर्षीया सुनीता विलिम्यस के साथ फ्लाइट इंजीनियर जापान के अकीहिको होशिदे और रूस के यूरी मेलेनचेनको भी गए हैं। सुनीता २००६ में छह महीने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष केन्द्र में रह चुकी हैं। यह अंतरिक्ष यान भारतीय समयानुसार सुबह आठ बजकर दस मिनट पर छोड़ा गया। यह मंगलवार को दिन में दस बजकर २२ मिनट पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष केन्द्र से जुड़ेगा। सुनीता अंतरिक्ष केन्द्र में अन्य वैज्ञानिकों और इंजीनियरों के साथ तीस से भी अधिक शोध करेंगी।
सुनीता विलियम्स के पिता गुजरात से हैं। सुनीता ने २००६ में १९५ दिन अंतरिक्ष में रहकर रिकार्ड बनाया था । उन्होंने १९९५ में फ्‌लोरिडा इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टैक्नोलॉजी से मास्टर डिग्री हासिल की थी।

पेइचिंग ओलंपिक खेलों में कुश्ती का कांस्य पदक जीतने वाले सुशील कुमार लंदन ओलंपिक में भारतीय दल के ध्वज वाहक होंगे। भारतीय ओलंपिक संघ के कार्यवाहक अध्यक्ष विजय कुमार मल्होत्रा ने लंदन ओलंपिक में हिस्सा लेने जा रहे खिलाड़ियों के लिए दिल्ली में आयोजित एक शुभकामना समारोह में यह घोषणा की। समारोह में केन्द्रीय खेल मंत्री अजय माकन और आई. ओ. ए. के महासचिव रणधीर सिंह भी मौजूद थे।

लेबनान के बेट्रोन अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समारोह के दौरान अपने किस्म का एक अनोखा विश्व रिकॉर्ड बना। करीब चार सौ लोगों ने लेमनेड यानि नींबू मिश्रित पेय बनाने वाली प्रतियोगिता में हिस्सा लेकर दुनिया के सबसे बडे+ लेमनेड कप को बना डाला। करीब दो हजार दो सौ किलोग्राम नींबू निचोड़ा गया। एक हजार किलोग्राम चीनी का इस्तेमाल हुआ। जिसे तीन हजार लीटर पानी में मिलाया गया। इसके अलावा एक हजार किलोग्राम वजन के बर्फ के टुकड़ो को मिलाकर करीब पांच हजार दो सौ किलोग्राम लेमनेड तैयार हुआ। इसे एक विशालकाय कप में डाला गया जिसका आधार १४० सेंटीमीटर का था और इसकी उंचाई २८५ सेंटीमीटर की थी। अतुल तिवारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, दुबई।

In Nepal, 39 bodies have so far been recovered from the canal in which a bus, carrying passengers, including Indians largely from Maharajgunj district of Uttar Pradesh had plunged into today. Of these 36 are reported to be Indian nationals. So far 27 persons have been rescued alive. Of these 10 are Indian nationals. The injured have been admitted to Nawalparasi and Chaupata hospitals in Nepal. Our correspondent reports that the death toll is expected to rise as more bodies are being recovered from the canal.
It is one of the worst accidents in the country , in which the overcrowded bus plunged into the swollen canal  . The bus was carrying an unspecified number of passengers including Indians largely from Maharangunj district of Uttar Pradesh who had travelled via Gutti Parasunipath, Dhulinipul, Bihar to Triveni, Nepal. While the local police said passenger quoting they were about seventy to eighty passengers in the bus . They were mostly pilgrims who were going to attend the annual hindu Golbam festival and worship Lord Shiva at the Trivenidham.Jane Namchu for AIR News,Kathmandu.
According to the Exteral Affairs Ministry in New Delhi, the  Nepalese authorities have reached the spot and are coordinating the relief and rescue operations. The Gandak barrage flow has been restricted to facilitate their operations.
The Nepalese Authorities have said that a tourist passenger bus, travelling to Triveni in
Nepal met with an accident and plunged into the Gandak canal near the India-Nepal border.
The Indian Embassy has sent special teams, including a medical doctor, to the accident site to assist the  Nepalese authorities in the relief and rescue operations. The authorities of Indian districts adjoining the border have also rushed to the spot. The Seema Suraksha Bal contingent deployed on the nearest border has also been mobilized to provide assistance.

In Assam, the total number of arrests in the molestation case has now gone up to seven. Assam Police arrested 3 more persons yesterday in connection with the molestation of a girl on Monday night in Guwahati. Kamrup Metro’s Senior Superintendent of Police Apurba Jiwan Baruah this evening said that, six culprits are still absconding. Our correspondent has filed this report:
One sub-inspector  has been suspended after the Chief Minister instructed to take disciplinary action against those police officials found guilty of negligence of duty. Assam police has already intensified search operation to nab all the culprits. They also sought help of the neighboring states. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has asked media organisations to refrain from publishing the identity of children who are victims of violence or those who are in conflict with the law. The latest directions of the NCPCR have come in the wake of the case of a Class V student of the Visva Bharati university who was allegedly forced to drink her urine as a punishment for bedwetting.
According to NCPCR chairperson Shanta Sinha, the Commission has written to the Press Council of India as well as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting asking them to find out what action can be taken against the media for violating Section 21 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

The National Democratic Alliance, NDA partners will meet tomorrow to discuss its Vice Presidential poll candidate. BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar said that party has decided to contest the Vice-Presidential election. Talking to reporters after the BJP Core Group meeting in New Delhi yesterday he said that  the announcement of NDA’s  candidate will be made  after due deliberations and consulting allies on the issue.
The ruling UPA had yesterday nominated Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari for a second term. Union Agriculture Minister and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan and BSP supremo Mayawati have also already announced their support to Hamid Ansari's candidature.
The last day for filing of nominations for the Vice Presidentship is the 20th of this month, a day after the Presidential poll. Voting is to be held on the 7th of next month.

US President Barack Obama has underlined that disputes between India and Pakistan can only be resolved by the two countries themselves. Welcoming the Indo-Pak dialogue process, he said, it is not the place of any nation, including the United States, to try to impose solutions from outside. Obama told PTI  that President Zardari's visit to India was encouraging.
Describing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as  his friend and partner with whom  he  has worked closely, Obama said he valued the insights of the Indian leader at various international fora including the recent G-20 meeting in Mexico.
Noting that India prohibited foreign investment in too many sectors such as retail, US President Barack Obama  cited concerns over the deteriorating investment climate there to endorse another  wave  of economic reforms.
Sounding positive about the Indian economy, which continues to grow at an impressive rate,  he said that to some extent, India's slower growth is a reflection of the larger slow down in the global economy.           
 Regarding  the future of Afghanistan and India's role in it,   the US President said India's generous contributions have helped India to train Afghan police, promote development and improve the lives of the Afghan people.

Indian-American record-setting astronaut Sunita Williams along with her two     colleagues  took off for her second space voyage  on a Russian Soyuz rocket. It  blasted off successfully from a cosmodrome in Kazakhstan today. 46-year-old NASA astronaut Williams, Russian Soyuz Commander Yuri Malenchenko and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency flight engineer Akihiko Hoshide started their two-day voyage at O8.10 am IST for a four-month mission on the International Space Station  ISS. The Soyuz TMA spacecraft is due to dock with the ISS's Zvezda service module at 10.22 am IST on Tuesday.
Ahead of the launch, she told reporters that the test mission laid the ground for a long-standing friendship and collaboration in the space programme.

In Assam, the project “Rupaantar”(Transformation) has been able to create a social and economic transformation in the operational areas of Oil India Ltd. Particularly in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia district. Our correspondent reports that the project is being jointly implemented by the Oil India Ltd. and the State institute of Rural Development, Assam.
The idea of the project was to help the unemployed youth and women to find out alternate source of employment and income. Under this project Self Help Groups (SHGs) are developed and Institute of Rural Development of Assam is providing these groups necessary training and technical support where the OIL is supporting them in the form of revolving fund and margin money. The focus of the project is on development of agro-based industries, diversification of handloom products, poultry farming, pig breeding, duck rearing, fishery, sericulture, organic farming etc.

The leading edge of a solar storm, which was expected since a massive eruption on the sun on Thursday, has reached Earth but has caused no damage. The US Space Weather Prediction Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration  reported that a G1, or minor, geomagnetic storm was under way today. Scientists say the storm, which reached Earth yesterday, could stretch to G2, or moderate, levels over the remainder of the weekend. Solar storms can affect power grids, mobile phone communication as well as aviation.

Indian Olympic Association, IOA has announced that Wrestler Sushil Kumar, a bronze medallist at the 2008 Beijing Games, will be the flag-bearer of the Indian contingent at the upcoming London Olympics. The names of top boxer Vijender Singh, tennis legend Leander Paes and ace shooter Abhinav Bindra were also in the line-up for the honour. Vijender, Sushil and Bindra had all returned with medals from the last edition of the Games in Beijing in 2008.
Bindra was reportedly the preferred candidate of the IOA but since his 10m air rifle event is scheduled three days after the opening ceremony on July 30, the shooter wanted to focus on his preparations. Similarly, Vijender's weigh-in is scheduled for July 28 so it was tough for him to do the honours.

In Pakistan, a cable car lift installed over the River Indus in Chillas area broke a support wire resulting in the drowning of eight people today. According to reports, the cable car fell in the River Indus when one of it’s wires broke and all eight passengers were swept away by the strong river currents. Efforts to rescue the victims are facing hindrances due to a surge in the water flow of the river.

Around 400 participants entered the lemonade making contest.   Around 2,200 kilograms of lemons were squeezed and 1,000 kilograms of sugar was used in 3,000 liters of water. Besides, 1,000 kilograms of ice cubes were added to create 5,200 liters of lemonade. Amidst wild cheers the drink was then poured into a cup whose base was 140 centimeters and its height was 285 centimeters. Wheat procurement has crossed 38 million tonnes in the current marketing year so far as the government's wheat purchase drive is coming to close in the most of growing states. According to the official data, maximum 12.8 million tonnes of wheat has been procured from Punjab followed by Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The quantity of the grain procured as of now is much higher than the targeted 31.8 million tonnes for the current year.
