डीएमके पार्टी ने केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल से अपने मंत्रियों को हटाने और यूपीए सरकार को बाहर से मुद्दों पर आधारित समर्थन देने का फैसला किया है। चेन्नई में आज पार्टी की केंद्रीय समिति की बैठक में पारित प्रस्ताव में कहा गया है कि विधानसभा चुनाव को लेकर नए मुद्दे उठाए जा रहे हैं, जिनसे पता चलता है कि कांगे्रस की डीएमके पार्टी के साथ गठबंधन बनाए रखने में दिलचस्पी नहीं है। पार्टी अध्यक्ष एम. करूणानिधि ने कहा, कि कांगे्रस के रूख से उन्हें हैरानी हो रही है उन्होंने कहा कि डीएमके को यह सोचने पर मजबूर होना पड़ रहा है कि कांगे्रस, डीएमके को यूपीए से हटाना चाहती है। उन्होंने कहा कि इन स्थितियों में उनकी पार्टी को सोचना पड़ रहा है कि वह सरकार में रहे या नहीं ,इसीलिए डीएमके ने सरकार से हटने का फैसला किया है।
पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता टी आर बालू ने संवाददाताओं को बताया कि यह फैसला सीटों के बंटवारे पर मतभेद के कारण ही लिया गया है और इसकी सूचना कांगे्रस हाईकमान को दे दी गई है।
डीएमके अपने मंत्रियों को मंत्रिमंडल से वापस बुलाने का फैसला किया है। कांग्रेस के साथ सीटों के बंटवारे पर सहमति न होने के कारण यह फैसला करना पड़ा। डीएमके हाईकमान ने मंत्रियों को दिल्ली जाकर त्यागपत्र देने का निर्देश दिया है।
श्री बालू ने यह भी कहा है कि अगर तमिलनाडु में आगामी विधानसभा चुनावों में सीटों के बंटवारे के बारे में कांगे्रस अपने रूख में नरमी बरतती है तो उनकी पार्टी केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल से अपने मंत्रियों को हटाने के फैसले पर फिर से विचार कर सकती है।
श्री बालू ने यह भी कहा कि डीएमके के छह केंद्रीय मंत्री प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह के साथ मुलाकात के बाद ही अपने त्यागपत्र सौपेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि इस्तीफे, फैक्स करने का कोई इरादा नहीं हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि अगर कांगे्रस 60 सीटों के लिए मान जाती है तो डीएमके अपने फैसले पर फिर से विचार कर सकती है।

--------कांग्रेस ने तृणमूल कांगे्रस से पश्चिम बंगाल में 294 विधानसभा सीटों में से एक तिहाई सीटों की मांग की है। प्रदेश कांगे्रस अध्यक्ष डॉक्टर मानस भुइया ने आज कोलकाता में कहा कि पिछले लोकसभा चुनावों में सीटों के बंटवारे के लिए तृणमूल कांगे्रस द्वारा अपनाए गए फार्मूले को राज्य में विधानसभा चुनावों पर भी लागू किया जाना चाहिए। डॉक्टर भुइया ने कहा कि फार्मूले के अनुसार राज्य कांगे्रस इकाई में पार्टी हाईकमान से 98 सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ने का आग्रह किया है।
--------उधर, असम में बोडोलैंड पीपुल्स प्रोगे्रसिव फ्रंट ने विधानसभा की आठ सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ने की घोषणा की है। फ्रंट के अध्यक्ष रबिराम नरज+री ने बताया कि उनकी पार्टी बोडोलैंड प्रादेशिक परिषद के तहत आने वाले 12 विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में से आठ में अपने उम्मीदवार खड़े करेगी। बाकी चार क्षेत्रों में पार्टी, समान विचारधारा वाली पार्टियों का समर्थन करेगी।

इस बीच, लीबिया, गृह युद्ध की ओर बढ़ रहा है। गद्दाफी के समर्थकों और विपक्षी लड़ाकुओं के बीच हिंसक झड़पों में कई लोगों के हताहत होने की खबरें हैं। राजधानी त्रिपोली के पश्चिमी शहर जाविया में भारी लड़ाई छिड़ गई है, क्योंकि गद्दाफी की सेना देश पर दोबारा नियंत्रण करने की कोशिश कर रही है। खबर है कि सुरक्षाबलों ने आज मुख्य चौक पर कब्जे के लिए भारी हथियारों और विमानभेदी तोपों का इस्तेमाल किया।
उधर, मिस्र में संविधान संशोधनों के लिए एक राष्ट्रीय जनमत संग्रह 19 मार्च को कराया जाएगा। इसमें नागरिकों से पूंछा जाएगा कि देश में लोकतंत्र को मजबूत बनाने के लिए क्या वे संविधान की विभिन्न धाराओं में संशोधनों के लिए सहमत हैं।
वित मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने उद्योग जगत को आश्वासन दिया है कि सरकार द्वारा 2011-12 के लिए बाजार से 4 लाख 17 हजार करोड़ रूपए का उधार लेने के कार्यक्रम से निजी क्षेत्र के लिए ऋण में रूकावट नहीं आएगी । आज नई दिल्ली में भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक के केंद्रीय निदेशक मंडल की बैठक के बाद उन्होंने कहा कि विकसित देशों में आर्थिक मंदी से उबरने की धीमी गति और पश्चिम एशिया तथा उत्तरी अफ्रीका में राजनीतिक अशांति के कारण सरकार को गंभीर समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ रहा है।

The DMK has decided to pull out of the UPA Government and provide only issue-based support to the Government. In a resolution passed by Party's core Committee in Chennai this evening,the party said new issues being raised over the seat sharing in next month's Assembly polls show that Congress does not want DMK to continue in the alliance. Party Chief M.Karunanidhi said the Congress stand surprises DMK. Karunanidhi said that DMK is compelled to suspect that these are all the efforts by Congress to remove DMK from the UPA. He said, under these circumstances, his party has to think whether to continue in the government. Therfore, DMK has decided to relieve itsef from the government. Senior DMK leader T R Baalu has indicated that his party could review its decision to pull its ministers from the Union Cabinet if the Congress relents on its stand over sharing of seats in the upcoming Assembly polls. Baalu also said the DMK's six Union ministers will hand over the resignations only after a meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and that there is no move to fax their resignations right away. He said if Congress agrees for 60 seats, DMK will reconsider its decision.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today assured the industry that the government's market borrowing programme of 4.17 lakh crore rupees for 2011-12 will not disrupt credit flow to the private sector. Mr. Mukherjee said, the government is facing serious problems due to the fragile economic recovery in the developed world and the political unrest in the Middle East and North Africa. He added that volatility in oil prices is further deepening the uncertainty. Mr Mukherji also said that the problem in some of the Eurozone countries could impact Indian exports as India's shipments to Europe are substantial.

The government says, it is looking into all the aspects of the alleged black money amassed by Hasan Ali. In reply to a query regarding blue corner notice issued by the Enforcement Directorate to Hasan Ali, the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said appropriate action will be taken.
The Enforcement Directorate had yesterday issued a - Look Out Circular - at all airports against Khan to ensure that he did not flee the country. Khan is facing charges of stashing away over 8 billion dollars in Swiss banks.

The JPC report on 2 G Spectrum issue will be submitted before monsoon session commencing in July. This was stated by Committee chairman P.C.Chacko in Thrissur today. He said the first sitting of the JPC will be held before the end of the current session of Parliament.
On whether Prime Minster Manmohan Singh will be summoned before the JPC, Chacko said it will be decided only after the matter is discussed by the Committee.

The pace of evacuation of Indians from strife torn Libya has been stepped up. Over 9,000 Indians have been evacuated so far. Another two thousand Indians will be evacuated from strife torn country later tonight. An External Affairs Ministry press release says, three special flights from two cities of Libya and three from Tunisia have arrived in India in the last 24 hours. More than one thousand people reached Delhi this morning. The release says that the ship 'MV Red Star' has reached the Libyan coast and will sail to Malta with 400 passengers. Arangements are in place for flying them to India in two chartered flights.

As Libya moves toward civil war, reports of violence and casualties continue to mount between forces loyal to longtime leader Muammar Gadhafi and rebel fighters who refuse to let up until Gadhafi's rule ends. Heavy fighting has erupted in the city of Zawiya, west of Tripoli, as Gaddafi's forces try to re-establish control over the country. Reports said government forces using artillery and anti-aircraft guns had attempted to take the main square this morning. But a resident said that tanks had been captured and burnt, government troops had retreated, and the city centre is now back in rebel hands. At least 18 people were killed in the fighting. Fierce fighting was also reported in and around Ras Lanuf, with the sound of multiple explosions and heavy artillery being heard after opposition fighters advanced on the city. Saif al-Islam Gadhafi, one of Gadhafi's sons who has spoken on behalf of his father's regime in recent days, told CNN that the country is not in a civil war, but says the armed militia or opposition are trying to drag the country into a civil war.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the entire opposition today staged a walkout from the Assembly alleging discriminatory attitude of the government in granting developmental funds for various constituencies.
After being pacified by the Speaker these members demanded for constituting a Joint House Committee, that would look into the alleged discrimination carried out in various constituencies in the execution of developmental works. The members of entire opposition including those of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),BJP,JKNPP staged walkout from the House. Latter addressing media persons in the Assembly premises the Legislative Party leaders of the opposition conveyed that entire opposition is united on the demand of the formation of Joint House Committee and they will bycott rest of the ongoing Budget-Session until their demand is met.

The body of Congress leader Arjun Singh reached at Sidhi district headquarters in Madhya Pradesh this evening. It is being taken to his hometown Churhat. Deputy Speaker in the state assembly Harbansh Singh, State Energy Minister Rajendra Shukla and several public representatives received his body at the airstrip.
The last rites of Arjun Singh will be performed in Churhat with full state honor at 11 am tomorrow. Governor Rameshwar Thakur, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and several senior congress leaders will attend his funeral. Several union ministers are also expected to present on this occasion. The state government has announced a three day state mourning in the state as a mark of respect to Arjun Singh. All government offices and schools remained closed in the state today as the state government declared a public holiday today.

In Nepal, the last rites of former Prime Minister and veteran Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Bhattarai will be performed tomorrow in Kathmandu. The body of the 87 year old party veteran was taken to his Ashram in Bandegaun, Lalitpur where people will pay their last respects.

At least 21 people were injured and over 2,000 people, rendered homeless in the big fire which was controlled in the wee hours today at suburban Bandra in Mumbai. The fire broke out in Garibnagar slums near Bandra (East) railway station last evening. AIR correspondent reports that Social activist Medha Patkar today demanded an inquiry into the cause of fire.
A raging fire in suburban Mumbai has gutted the homes of thousands of people including Rubina Ali, the little actress of Oscar winning film Slum Dog Millionaire. Fire officials said that more than 2000 people have been rendered homeless due to the fire that broke in Garib Nagar slum yesterday. 21 people including four firemen were injured in the incident . Meanwhile, Social activist Medha Patkar has demanded compensation between Rs50,000 to Rs1 lakh per family.
