राजस्थान में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के दो और विधायकों ने पार्टी की प्राथमिक सदस्यता से इस्तीफा दे दिया है, जिससे इस्तीफा देने वाले विधायकों की संख्या ५८ हो गई है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि इन विधायकों ने अपना इस्तीफा विधानसभा में विपक्ष की नेता वसुंधरा राजे को जयपुर में सौंपा। ये सभी विधायक पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता गुलाबचन्द कटारिया की लोक जागरण यात्रा के विरोध में श्रीमती राजे का समर्थन कर रहे हैं। पार्टी विधायक और श्रीमती वसुंधरा राजे के निकट सहयोगी भवानी सिंह राजावत ने बताया कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी को अगले विधानसभा चुनाव में श्रीमती राजे को मुख्यमंत्री पद का उम्मीदवार बनाना चाहिए। इससे पहले श्रीमती राजे ने कहा था कि अगर श्री कटारिया को उदयपुर में यात्रा की अनुमति दी गई तो वे पार्टी की प्राथमिक सदस्यता से इस्तीफा दे देंगी। हालांकि उन्होने यह भी कहा कि इस मुद्दे को पार्टी के भीतर ही सौहार्दपूर्ण तरीके से सुलझा लिया जाएगा। इस बीच, पार्टी नेता गुलाबचन्द कटारिया ने अपनी लोक जागरण यात्रा रद्द कर दी है।

पंजाब में मोगा के पास कल रात एक सड़क दुर्घटना में १८ लोगों की मौत हो गई। यह घटना उस समय हुई जब एक जीप, फिरोजपुर से आ रहे ट्रक से आमने-सामने टकरा गई। पुलिस ने आकाशवाणी को बताया कि दुर्घटना में मारे गए ११ लोग एक ही परिवार के थे। ये लोग नानकसर गुरुद्वारा में मत्था टेकने के बाद अपने गांव दौलतपुरा उचा और दौलतपुरा निवाम आ रहे थे। ट्रक ड्राइवर घटनास्थल से भाग गया।

भारत-बंगलादेश संयुक्त सलाहकार आयोग की पहली बैठक आज नई दिल्ली में होगी। प्रत्यर्पण और तीस्ता जल संधि तथा सीमा समझौते सहित कई मुद्दों पर बातचीत की संभावना है। एक सरकारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार विदेश मंत्री एस. एम. कृष्णा और बंगलादेश की विदेश मंत्री दीपू मोनी बैठक की अध्यक्षता करेंगे। पिछले वर्ष सितम्बर में प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह की बंगलादेश की यात्रा के दौरान विकास और सहयोग संधि के अंतर्गत संयुक्त सलाहकार आयोग का गठन किया गया था। आयोग, २०१० में बंगलादेश की प्रधानमंत्री की भारत यात्रा और फिर पिछले वर्ष प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह की बंगलादेश यात्रा के दौरान हुए समझौतों को लागू करने की दिशा में हुई प्रगति की भी समीक्षा करेगा। बंगलादेश की विदेश मंत्री दीपू मोनी गुरूदेव रविन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर की १५०वीं जयंती के उपलक्ष्य में वर्ष भर चले संयुक्त कार्यक्रमों के समापन समारोह में विशिष्ट अतिथि होंगी।

वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने कहा है कि भारत ने बंगलादेश को दिए जा रहे एक अरब अमरीकी डॉलर की ऋण सुविधा में से २० करोड़ अमरीकी डॉलर अनुदान के रूप में बदलने का फैसला किया है। कल ढाका में बंगलादेश के इलेक्ट्रॉनिक और प्रिंट मीडिया संगठनों के संपादकों के साथ बातचीत करते हुए श्री मुखर्जी ने यह बात कही।

भारत ने बांग्लादेश को एक अरब डॉलर ऋण की सुविधा दी थी। ८१ करोड़ डॉलर की परियोजनाओं का निश्चय हो चुका है और काम चल रहा है। मैंने प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना को भारत सरकार के इस निर्णय की जानकारी दे दी है कि इस एक अरब डॉलर में से बीस करोड़ डॉलर की राशि अनुदान के रूप में होगी, कर्ज के रूप में नहीं।
श्री मुखर्जी ने यह भी कहा कि भारत-बंगलादेश संयुक्त नदी आयोग के तहत भारत एक उप समिति बनाने पर सहमत हो गया है। यह आयोग संयुक्त भागीदारी के प्रस्ताव सहित तिपाइमुख परियोजना से जुड़े सभी मुद्दों की समीक्षा करेगा। राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए उनके नाम पर विचार होने की मीडिया की खबरों पर प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त करते हुए श्री मुखजी ने कहा कि उन्हें इस बात की जानकारी नहीं है क्योंकि जब तक कोई अंतिम फैसला नहीं हो जाता तब तक आधिकारिक रूप से किसी को भी इसकी जानकारी नहीं दी जाती। श्री मुखर्जी बंगलादेश में विपक्ष की नेता खालिदा जिया के साथ बैठक के बाद विशेष विमान से नई दिल्ली के लिए रवाना हो गए। श्री मुखर्जी कल ढाका में गुरुदेव रविंद्रनाथ टैगोर की १५०वीं जयंती के संयुक्त समारोह के समापन में विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में शामिल हुए थे।

अमरीका की विदेश मंत्री हिलेरी क्लिंटन आज कोलकाता में पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी से मुलाकात करेंगी। बातचीत के दौरान भारत-बंगलादेश तीस्ता जल संधि और मल्टी ब्रांड खुदरा कारोबार में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश तथा आर्थिक सुधार से जुड़े अन्य मुद्दे उठने की संभावना है। श्रीमती क्लिंटन भारत की तीन दिन की यात्रा पर कल कोलकाता पहुंची। वे भारतीय सांस्कृतिक संबंध परिषद के एक कार्यक्रम में शामिल हुईं और इसके बाद विक्टोरिया मेमोरियल देखने गईं। श्रीमती क्लिंटन आज नई दिल्ली पहुंचेंगी। कल वे विदेश मंत्री एस.एम. कृष्णा से मिलेंगी। असैन्य परमाणु सहयोग, क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा और ईरान के मुद्दे पर मुख्य रूप से चर्चा होगी। दोनों नेता भारत - अमरीकी महत्वपूर्ण भागीदारी में हुई प्रगति की भी समीक्षा करेंगे। दोनों देशों के बीच महत्वपूर्ण वार्ता का अगला दौर अगले महीने की १३ तारीख को वॉशिंगटन में होना है। श्रीमती क्लिंटन के प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह से भी मिलने की आशा है।

बिहार सरकार ने राज्य के नक्सल प्रभावित जि+लों में कौशल विकास योजना की शुरूआत की है। राज्य के ३८ में से २३ जिलों की पहचान नक्सल प्रभावित के रूप में की गई है। इस योजना का उद्देश्य इन जिलों के लोगों के कौशल विकास के लिए बुनियादी सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराना है। हमारे पटना संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि योजना के तहत नक्सलवाद प्रभावित प्रत्येक जि+ले मे कम से कम एक आईटीआई और दो कौशल विकास केन्द्र खोलने का कार्यक्रम है। नक्सल प्रभावित इलाकों के लोगों की मांग के अनुरूप व्यवसायिक प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम लागू किये जायेंगे। केंद्र सरकार ने इस महत्वाकांक्षी कार्यक्रम के लिये राज्य को आवश्यक राशि उपलब्ध करा दी है। व्यवसायिक प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम का मुख्य उद्देश्य नक्सल प्रभावित इलाकों के उन लोगों को रोजगार मुहैया कराना है जिन्हें माओवादी गुमराह कर हिंसक गतिविधियों में शामिल कर लेते हैं। आशा की जा रही है कि सरकार की इस पहल से नक्सल प्रभावित इलाकों के लोगों को देश की मुख्यधारा में शामिल किया जा सकेगा। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए पटना से कृष्ण कुमार लाल।

फ्रांस में सोशलिस्ट उम्मीदवार फ्रॉस्वा ओलांद ने राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में पक्की जीत हासिल की है। कल अंतिम दौर के मतदान में श्री ओलांद को लगभग ५२ प्रतिशत मत मिले। उन्होंने कहा कि फ्रांस की जनता ने बदलाव पसंद किया है। मौजूदा राष्ट्रपति निकोला सारकोजी ने हार स्वीकार करते हुए श्री ओलांद को शुभकामनाएं दी हैं।
वर्ष१९८० में फ्रॉस्वा मितरॉ के बाद राष्ट्रपति का चुनाव जीतने वाले श्री ओलांद पहले सोशलिस्ट हैं। श्री ओलांद को फ्रांस की आर्थिक स्थिति और राष्ट्रपति सरकोजी की अलोकप्रियता का फायदा उठाने में सफल रहे।
उनके इस महीने के अंत तक फ्रांस के राष्ट्रपति का पद ग्रहण करने की संभावना है। अगले महीने संसदीय चुनाव भी होने हैं।
जर्मनी की चांसलर एंगेला मर्केल और ब्रिटेन के प्रधानमंत्री डेविड कैमरून ने श्री ओलांद को बधाई दी है।

ग्रीस के मतदाताओं ने संसदीय चुनाव में यूरोपीय संघ की मांग के अनुसार अलोकप्रिय कठोर आर्थिक उपाय लागू करने के लिए दोनों प्रमुख दलों को नकार दिया है। कल हुए संसदीय चुनावों के सरकारी अनुमानों से पता चलता है कि रूढ़िवादी न्यू डेमोक्रेसी पार्टी को लगभग १९ प्रतिशत वोट मिले हैं, जो कि अपने बलबूते सरकार बनाने के लिए जरूरी मतों से बहुत कम है। सोशलिस्ट पासोक पार्टी को १४ प्रतिशत मत मिलने की उम्मीद है, जबकि वामपंथी सिरिजा के १६ प्रतिशत मत हासिल करने का अनुमान है। अगर यही अनुमान सही साबित हुत तो नेताओं को नई गठबंधन सरकार बनाने के लिए बातचीत के मुश्किल दौर से गुजरना पड़ सकता है।

सीरिया में आज नई संसद के लिए चुनाव हो रहे हैं। सीरिया सरकार ने कहा है कि यह चुनाव लोकतांत्रिक सुधारों को आगे बढ़ाने की दिशा में समर्थन का संकेत है। हमारे संवाददाता ने ख़बर दी है कि प्रमुख विपक्षी दल ने चुनाव का बहिष्कार करने को कहा है।

सीरिया में नये संविधान के पारित होने के बाद यह पहला मौका है जब दलगत आधार पर संसद के चुनाव हो रहे हैं। २५० सांसदों की सीट के लिये सात पार्टियों के उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं। सत्तारूढ़ बाथ पार्टी नेशनल प्रोग्रेसिव फ्रंट के बैनर तले चुनाव लड़ रही है। कुल सात हजार एक सौ ९५ उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं, मगर प्रमुख विपक्षी दलों और फ्री सीरियन आर्मी ने चुनाव के बहिष्कार का ऐलान किया है। उनका आरोप है कि ये चुनाव महज राष्ट्रपति बशर अल असद की सरकार के सत्ता में बने रहने की कवायद का हिस्सा हैं। अतुल तिवारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार।

भारत ने कहा है कि वह अफ्रीका और दक्षिण अफ्रीका में मानव संसाधनों के विकास और क्षमता निर्माण में दक्षिण अफ्रीका सरकार के साथ मिलकर काम करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील ने कल डर्बन में फिनिक्स बस्ती में महात्मा गांधी सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी केंद्र की आधारशिला के अवसर पर यह बात कही। इस सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी केंद्र से युवाओं को ज्ञान अर्जन में काफी लाभ होगा। फिनिक्स बस्ती की स्थापना १९०४ में महात्मा गांधी ने सामुदायिक रहन-सहन के प्रयोग के तौर पर की थी। श्रीमती पाटील दो देशों की अपनी यात्रा के दूसरे चरण में इन दिनों दक्षिण अफ्रीका में हैं।

In Rajasthan, the total number of BJP MLAs resigning from the primary membership of the party has gone up to 58, with two more legislators putting in their papers last night. Our correspondent reports that the MLAs have handed over their resignations to the leader of Opposition Vasundhara Raje in Jaipur. All these MLAs are supporting Mrs Raje who opposed the Lok Jagran Yatra of senior party leader Gulab Chand Kataria. An MLA and a close associate of Vasundhara Raje, Bhawani Sinh Rajawat told media persons that the Party should declare Mrs Raje as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the next assembly elections. Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Gulab Chand Kataria has called off his Yatra. Mrs Raje said if Kataria is allowed to conduct his Yatra in Udaipur division she will resign from the primary membership of the party. She, however, said that the issue will be solved amicably within the party.

In Punjab, 18 persons were killed in a road accident near Moga last night. The incident occurred when the jeep, in which the victims were travelling, collided head on with a truck coming from the Ferozpur side. Police told AIR that 11 victims belonged to the same family. The victims were returning to their village Daulatpura Ucha and Daulatpura Niwam after paying obeisance at Nanaksar Gurdwara. The truck driver is absconding.

The first Indo-Bangla Joint Consultative Commission meeting will be held in New Delhi today. Bilateral issues like the extradition treaty, Teesta water treaty and the boundary implementation agreement are likely to dominate the agenda at the meeting. An official statement said, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna and his Bangladeshi counterpart Dipu Moni will co-chair the JCC meeting. The JCC was formed under the framework agreement on development and co-operation signed during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Dhaka in September last year.

The JCC, which was envisaged as an annual event at the level of foreign ministers, will also explore newer avenues for cooperation including progress of activities under the Framework Agreement.

The Bangladesh Foreign Minister will be the Guest of Honour and participate on behalf of her government at the closing ceremony of the year-long joint celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.

India has decided to convert 200 million US Dollars out of the One billion US Dollars extended credit facility being offered to Bangladesh as a grant. This was stated by Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee while interacting with editors of Bangladesh's electronic and print media organizations in Dhaka yesterday. Mr. Mukherjee said that projects worth 810 million US Dollars have already been approved and are in different stages of implementation under the One billion US Dollar credit being provided by India to Bangladesh.

"Projects worth 810 million US dollars have already been identified and work are going on. I inform Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the decision of the government of India to treat it as grant, not credit of 200 million dollars out of this one billion."

Mr. Mukherjee said that he informed the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that India has also agreed to setting up a subgroup under the India Bangladesh Joint rivers commission to examine all issues related to the Tipaimukh project including the proposal for joint participation in the project. Later Mr. Mukherjee left from Dhaka for New Delhi.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata today. The Indo-Bangla Teesta Water Treaty and the issue of FDI in multi-brand retail and other economic reforms are likely to figure prominently during their talks. Mrs Clinton arrived in Kolkata yesterday on a three-day visit to India.

The US Secretary of State will arrive in New Delhi later today. She will meet External Affairs Minister SM Krishna tomorrow. Civil nuclear cooperation, regional security and Iran are among the key issues that the US Secretary of State is expected to discuss with Mr Krishna.

The two leaders will also review progress made in Indo-US strategic partnership ahead of the strategic dialogue between the two countries to be held in Washington on the 13th of next month.

Socialist Francois Hollande has won a clear victory in the French presidential election. Mr Hollande, who got an estimated 52 per cent of votes in yesterday's run-off, said, the French have chosen change. Admitting defeat, centre-right incumbent President Nicolas Sarkozy wished good luck to Mr Hollande.

Exuberant Hollande supporters gathered on Place de la Bastille in Paris, a traditional rallying point of the Left, to celebrate. Mr Hollande is expected to take over as President of France later this month. A parliamentary election is due next month. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and UK Prime Minister David Cameron called Mr Hollande to congratulate him.

Partial results in Greece's parliamentary election suggest the two main parties have seen dramatic losses. With three-quarters of votes counted, centre-right New Democracy is leading with 19.6%, down from 33.5% in 2009. Centre-left Pasok is in third place with 13.5%, down from 43.9% in the last elections. Left-wing coalition Syriza is in second place with 16.3% voters in yesterday's polls. Pasok and New Democracy, in coalition since last November, were expected to lose support to anti-austerity parties. The neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party could enter parliament for the first time if their tally of almost 7% holds up.

The main opposition Syrian National Council has called upon the people to boycott the elections. The Bihar government has launched a Skill Development Scheme in the naxal affected districts of the state. 23 of the 38 districts in the state have been identified as naxal affected. The scheme is aimed at creating infrastructure for skill development among people of the naxal affected districts. Our correspondent reports that the scheme envisages setting up of at least one I T I Centre and two Skill Development centres in each of the naxal affected districts.

अमरीका की विदेश मंत्री हिलेरी क्लिंटन ने आज कोलकाता में राइटर्स बिल्डिंग में पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बैनर्जी से मुलाकात की। समझा जाता है कि इस मुलाकात के दौरान पश्चिम बंगाल में अमरीकी निवेश के बारे में मुख्य रूप से बातचीत हुई। श्रीमती क्लिंटन और सुश्री बैनर्जी ने पहले अलग से बातचीत की। बाद में शिष्टमंडल स्तर की बातचीत हुई। इसके बाद श्रीमती क्लिंटन नई दिल्ली के लिए रवाना हुई। कोलकाता में श्रीमती क्लिंटन की यात्रा के लिए कड़े सुरक्षा प्रबंध किए गए।
श्रीमती क्लिंटन के साथ बातचीत के बाद सुश्री ममता बैनर्जी ने संवाददाताओं को बताया कि अमरीकी शिष्टमंडल ने सामाजिक, शिक्षा और स्वास्थ्य के क्षेत्रों में निवेश में दिलचस्पी दिखाई। सुश्री बैनजी ने कहा कि निजी और सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की भागीदारी के तहत व्यावसायिक सहयोग बढ़ाने की संभावनाओं पर भी विचार-विमर्श किया गया।

उन्होंने कहा कि वो व्यापारिक विकास के लिए अपना सहयोग देंगे। वो अपना पूरा समर्थन देंगे और वो निवेश करेंगे। इससे पहले आज सुबह श्रीमती क्लिंटन ने कोलकाता के ला मार्टिनेयर स्कूल में छात्र-छात्राओं के साथ बातचीत के कार्यक्रम में हिस्सा लिया। एक प्रश्न के उत्तर में उन्होंने कहा कि पाकिस्तान को २६ नवम्बर के मुम्बई आतंकी हमलों के मुख्य साजिशकर्ता हाफ़िज सईद के खिलाफ कड़े कदम उठाने चाहियें।

भारत-बंगलादेश संयुक्त सलाहकार आयोग की पहली बैठक आज नई दिल्ली में चल रही है। प्रत्यर्पण और तीस्ता जल संधि तथा सीमा समझौते सहित कई मुद्दों पर बातचीत की संभावना है। एक सरकारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार विदेश मंत्री एस. एम. कृष्णा और बंगलादेश की विदेश मंत्री दीपू मोनी संयुक्त रूप से बैठक की अध्यक्षता करेंगे। पिछले वर्ष सितम्बर में प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह की बंगलादेश की यात्रा के दौरान विकास और सहयोग संधि के अंतर्गत संयुक्त सलाहकार आयोग का गठन किया गया था। आयोग, २०१० में बंगलादेश की प्रधानमंत्री की भारत यात्रा और फिर पिछले वर्ष प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह की बंगलादेश यात्रा के दौरान हुए समझौतों को लागू करने की दिशा में हुई प्रगति की भी समीक्षा करेगा। सहयोग के नये क्षेत्रों की संभावना पर भी विचार-विमर्श होगा। बंगलादेश की विदेश मंत्री दीपू मोनी गुरूदेव रविन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर की १५०वीं जयंती के उपलक्ष्य में वर्ष भर चले संयुक्त कार्यक्रमों के समापन समारोह में विशिष्ट अतिथि होंगी।

रक्षामंत्री ए० के० एंटनी ने आज लोकसभा में आश्वासन दिया कि सशस्त्र सेनाएं किसी भी स्थिति का मुकाबला करने के लिए तैयार है और उनके पास पर्याप्त उपकरण तथा गोलाबारूद हैं। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि जब कभी इन चीजों की कमी पड़ती है तो उनकी भरपाई की कार्रवाई की जाती है।

हम कमियों को पूरा करने के लिए तेजी से निर्णय ले रहे हैं। लेकिन बड़े परिपे्रक्ष्य में हमारी सशस्त्र सेनाएं हर चुनौती का सामना करने के लिए सक्षम है। प्रश्नों का उत्तर देते हुए श्री एंटनी ने कहा कि रक्षा सेनाओं के लिए हथियार और गोलाबारूद हासिल करना एक जटिल प्रक्रिया है। इसे रक्षा सामग्री की खरीद की कार्यविधि और सम्बद्ध मैनुअल के अन्तर्गत निर्धारित नियमों के अनुसार हासिल किया जाता है। उन्होंने कहा कि संकट की स्थिति में तत्काल कार्रवाई की आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने के लिए बहुत जल्दी सामग्री खरीदने की व्यवस्था भी है। उन्होंने कहा कि २०११-१२ में इस व्यवस्था का उपयोग नहीं किया गया। एक पूरक प्रश्न के उत्तर में श्री एंटनी ने बताया कि भारत का ४७ देशों के साथ रक्षा सहयोग है। रक्षा क्षेत्र के लिए पिछले वित्त वर्ष में जो राशि रखी गई थी उसे पूरे तौर पर खर्च किया गया।

सरकार ने कहा है कि उसने सच्चर समिति की नब्बे प्रतिशत सिफारिशें स्वीकार कर ली हैं। आज राज्यसभा में पूरक प्रश्नों का उत्तर देते हुए अल्पसंख्यक मामलों के मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद ने कहा कि उनके मंत्रालय ने अल्पसंख्यकों के बीच उद्यमशीलता और स्वरोजगार को बढ़ावा देने के लिए कई कदम उठाए हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि अल्पंसख्यक विकास और वित्त निगम, अल्पसंख्यक समुदाय के गरीबी की रेखा से नीचे रहने वाले लोगों को रियायती ब्याज दरों पर ऋण उपलब्ध कराता है। उन्होंने सदन को सूचित किया कि अल्पसंख्यकों के कौशल विकास के उद्देश्य से पिछले पांच वर्षों में इकहत्तर आई टी आई और इक्कतीस पोलीटेक्नीक की मंजूरी दी गई। श्री खुर्शीद ने कहा कि २००७-०८ से पिछले वर्ष दिसम्बर तक स्वर्ण जयंती शहरी रोजगार योजना के तहत आवास और शहरी गरीबी उन्मूलन मंत्रालय ने चौहत्तर हजार से अधिक शहरी गरीबों को लघु औद्योगिक इकाइयां खोलने के लिए सहायता दी। उन्होंने कहा कि अल्पसंख्यकों के विकास को तेज+ करने के लिए अल्पसंख्यक सशक्तिकरण संबंधी कार्य समूह ने प्रधानमंत्री के नए पन्द्रह सूत्री कार्यक्रम को लागू करने में कुछ संशोधनों का सुझाव दिया है। श्री खुर्शीद ने कहा कि २००७-०८ से पिछले वर्ष दिसम्बर तक ऐसे जिलों में बैंकों की तीन हजार दो सौ से अधिक नई शाखाएं खोली हैं, जहां अल्पसंख्यकों की आबादी ज्यादा है। श्री खुर्शीद ने बताया कि रिज+र्व बैंक ने मुस्लिमों को विशेष रूप से ऋण उपलब्ध कराने और विभिन्न ऋण योजनाओं के बारे में उन्हें जागरूक करने के लिए सभी व्यवसायिक बैंकों को आवश्यक निर्देश दिए हैं।

सरकार ने कहा है कि इस साल ३१ मार्च तक एक लाख, चार हजार से ज्यादा गांवों को बिजली उपलब्ध कराई गई । राज्यसभा में आज पूरक प्रश्न के उत्तर में बिजली मंत्री सुशील कुमार शिन्दे ने कहा कि इसे मिला कर अब ९५ फीसदी गांवों तक बिजली पहुंचा दी गई है। उन्होंने बताया कि राजीव गांधी ग्रामीण विद्युतिकरण योजना के तहत गरीबी रेखा से नीचे के एक करोड़, ९४ लाख, २५ हजार से अधिक परिवारों को निशुल्क बिजली कनेक्शन दिये गये हैं। उन्होंने सदन को आश्वासन दिया कि बिजली उपलब्ध कराने की जिन परियोजनाओं के लिए पहले ही मंजूरी दी जा चुकी है, १२वीं पंचवर्षीय योजना में उनसे अलग शेष परिवारों को भी उपलब्ध बिजली मुहैया कराई जा सकती है। श्री शिन्दे ने कहा कि २००२ में ५३ प्रतिशत ग्रामीण परिवार बिजली का इस्तेमाल कर रहे थे जबकि २००८-०९ में ६६ प्रतिशत ऐसे परिवार बिजली का उपयोग करने लगे हैं। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि इसी अवधि में ९६ प्रतिशत शहरी परिवार बिजली का इस्तेमाल करने लगे हैं जबकि पहले ९१ फीसदी परिवार इसका इस्तेमाल कर रहे थे।

सरकार ने कहा है कि वह देश में ऊर्जा सुरक्षा के लिए वचनबद्ध है और इसके लिए ऊर्जा संयंत्रों को सस्ती दर पर कोयला उपलब्ध कराया जायेगा। कोयला मंत्री श्रीप्रकाश जायसवाल ने आज राज्यसभा मे एक पूरक प्रश्न के उत्तर में बताया कि कोल इंडिया कंपनी सभी बिजली संयंत्रों को अस्सी फीसदी कोयला आपूर्ति करेगी। कंपनी के साथ ईधन आपूर्ति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए हैं। श्री जायसवाल ने कहा कि कोल इंडिया ने इसके स्थान पर परिवर्तित ईधन आपूर्ति समझौता किया और इसे सभी कोयला आपूर्ति करने वाली कंपनियों को भेज दिया गया है। कोयला मंत्री ने भी कहा कि कोयले की आपूर्ति की विद्युत और अन्य क्षेत्रों को अधिसूचित दरों पर किया जाना विद्युत उत्पादन और विनिर्माण की लागत को उचित स्तर पर बनाये रखने के लिए ज+रूरी है।

सरकार देशभर में राष्ट्रीय राजमार्गों पर टोल टैक्स बढ़ाने पर विचार कर रही है। आज लोकसभा में एक प्रश्न के उत्तर में सड़क परिवहन और राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग मंत्री जितिन प्रसाद ने कहा कि राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग शुल्क नियमों में प्रस्तावित संशोधन विचाराधीन है। इस प्रस्ताव संशोधन से और राजमार्गों के निर्माण के लिए टोल टैक्स को तर्कसंगत बनाया जाएगा।

पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में सभी महत्वपूर्ण सड़कें समय पर बनाई जा रही है। सड़कों के इस नेटवर्क में इस समय इन सड़कों की लंबाई ११ हजार छह सौ ७२ किलोमीटर है। इन सड़कों का निर्माण और रखरखाव सीमा सुरक्षा संगठन द्वारा किया जा रहा है। यह जानकारी रक्षामंत्री ए के एंटनी ने आज लोकसभा में प्रश्नकाल के दौरान दी। उन्होंने कहा कि असम में बालीपाड़ा और अरूणाचल प्रदेश में तावांग के बीच तीन सौ १७ किलोमीटर दोहरी लाइन सड़क का निर्माण कार्य प्रगति पर है। अब तक ८८ किलोमीटर सड़क का निर्माण पूरा हो चुका है और बाकी क्षेत्रों में निर्माण कार्य जारी है। एक प्रश्न के उत्तर में श्री एंटनी ने कहा कि पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों में सड़क बनाये जाने के काम में देरी वहां के वन और वन्य जीव तथा भूमि अधिग्रहण जैसे मामलों में मंजूरी मिलने में समय लगने के कारण होती है। इसके अलावा वहां के ऊंचे स्थानों पर जलवायु की स्थिति और स्थानीय स्तर पर विभिन्न संगठनों के बार-बार बंद के कारण भी सड़क निर्माण कार्य में बाधा आती है। रक्षामंत्री ने यह भी बताया कि हाथ में ली गईं पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र की सभी सड़क परियोजनाएं २०१६ तक पूरी कर ली जायेंगी।

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने सी पी आई माओवादी के कार्यकर्ता नारायण सान्याल की आजीवन कारावास की सजा स्थगित कर दी है। छत्तीसगढ़ की एक अदालत ने २०१० में सान्याल को राजद्रोह को दोषी पाया था। न्यायमूर्ति जी.एस. सिंघवी और न्यायमूर्ति एस. जे मुखोपाध्याय की पीठ ने ७८ वर्षीय सान्याल की उम्र और इस बात को ध्यान में रखते हुए उन्हें जमानत दी कि वह २००६ में अपनी गिरफ्तारी के बाद से छह वर्ष से अधिक समय जेल में काट चुके हैं। पीठ ने कहा कि सम्बद्ध निचली अदालत सान्याल की जमानत पर रिहाई के लिए शर्तें तय करेगी। नारायण सान्याल को पीपुल्स यूनियन ऑफ सिविल लिबर्टीज के उपाध्यक्ष विनायक सेन और कोलकाता के एक व्यापारी पीयुष गुहा के साथ दोषी ठहराया गया था। उन पर राज्य में माओवादियों को उनके नेटवर्क का विस्तार करने में सहयोग देने का आरोप था।

उत्तर प्रदेश में केन्द्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो- सीबीआई ने परिवार कल्याण के तत्कालीन मुख्य चिकित्सा अधिकारी डॉक्टर विनोद आर्य की हत्या के मामले में पूर्व मुख्य चिकित्सा अधिकारी डॉक्टर ए.के शुक्ला को आज लखनऊ में गिरफ्तार किया। हमारे लखनऊ संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि डॉक्टर शुक्ला को डॉक्टर आर्य की हत्या की साजिश रचने के आरोप में हिरासत में लिया गया है। डॉक्टर शुक्ला को कल देर रात सी बी आई ने पूछताछ के लिए बुलाया और उन्हें हिरासत में ले लिया। डॉक्टर आर्य की २७ अक्तूबर २०१० को राजधानी लखनऊ के विकास नगर क्षेत्र में उनके घर के पास हत्या कर दी गई थी। उस समय वे सुबह की सैर के लिए घर से बाहर निकल रहे थे। राज्य पुलिस के विशेष कार्यबल ने इस हत्या के सिलसिले में तीन लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है। डॉक्टर शुक्ला, राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण स्वास्थ्य मिशन घोटाला मामले में जमानत पर हैं।

राजस्थान में भारतीय जनता पार्टी में नेतृत्व के मुद्दे को लेकर विवाद जारी है। भाजपा के ६१ विधायकों ने श्रीमती वसुंधरा राजे के समर्थन में पार्टी से त्यागपत्र दे दिया है। दो निर्दलीय विधायक भी श्रीमती राजे का समर्थन कर रहे हैं। श्रीमती राजे के समर्थक मांग कर रहे हैं कि राज्य में अगले विधानसभा चुनावों में उन्हें पार्टी के मुख्यमंत्री पद के उम्मीदवार के रूप में घोषित किया जाए। इससे पहले श्रीमती राजे ने कहा था कि यह भाजपा का अन्दरूनी मामला है और पार्टी के अन्दर ही सुलझा लिया जाएगा। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि श्रीमती राजे इस समय जयपुर में ही हैं।

राजस्थान में भारतीय जनता पार्टी की प्रदेश इकाई में नेतृत्व का विवाद अब पार्टी के केन्द्रीय नेतृत्व के पाले में पहुंच गया है। श्रीमती राजे के समर्थक भारतीय जनता पार्टी की महासचिव श्रीमती किरण माहेश्वरी आज दिल्ली में हैं। पार्टी सूत्रों के अनुसार वहां वे पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता अरूण जेतली तथा दूसरे अन्य नेताओं से मुलाकात करेंगी। श्री गुलाब चन्द्र कटारिया ने कहा कि वे पार्टी का अनुशासन नहीं तोड़ेंगे। ये विवाद श्री कटारिया की उदयपुर संभाग में प्रस्तावित लोक जागरण यात्रा से ही शुरू हुआ था, जिसका शनिवार को श्रीमती वसुंधरा राजे ने कड़ा विरोध किया था। शनिवार रात को ही श्री कटारिया ने अपनी यात्रा स्थगित करने की घोषणा कर दी थी। राज्य भर में पार्टी के दो हजार पांच सौ से ज्यादा संगठन पदाधिकारी भी श्रीमती राजे के समर्थन में इस्तीफा देने का एलान कर चुके हैं। अनुराग वाजपेयी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, जयपुर।

असम सरकार ने धुबरी जिले में अन्तर्देशीय जल परिवहन सेवा और सड़क सम्पर्क को बेहतर बनाने के लिए दस करोड़ रूपए की विशेष योजना की घोषणा की है। पिछले सप्ताह इस जि+ले में ज+बरदस्त नौका दुर्घटना हुई थी। सरकारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार, योजना मुख्यमंत्री के विशेष कार्यक्रम का हिस्सा है। मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई ने पिछले शनिवार को नौका दुर्घटना में मारे गए लोगों के परिजनों से मिलने आए केन्द्रीय जहाजरानी मंत्री जी.के वासन को एक ज्ञापन भी सौंपा था। मुख्यमंत्री ने केन्द्रीय मंत्री से ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी में परिवहन सेवाओं को आधुनिक बनाने के लिए १२ नदी गोदियों और दो सौ नौकाओं की खरीद के लिए तीन सौ पैंसठ करोड़ रूपये की योजना को मंजूरी देने का भी अनुरोध किया। इस बीच, पिछले सोमवार को हुई नौका दुर्घटना में लापता लोगों की तलाश आज नौंवे दिन भी जारी है। ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी से अब तक ६३ शव निकाले जा चुके हैं।

बिहार सरकार ने राज्य के नक्सल प्रभावित जि+लों में कौशल विकास योजना की शुरूआत की है। राज्य के ३८ में से २३ जि+लों की पहचान नक्सल प्रभावित के रूप में की गई है। इस योजना का उद्देश्य इन जि+लों के लोगों के कौशल विकास के लिए बुनियादी सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराना है।

मध्यप्रदेश में, आज दो सड़क दुर्घटनाओं में दस लोगों की मृत्यु हो गई और ३२ घायल हो गए हैं। शिवपुरी जिले में पतारा गांव के पास आगरा-मुम्बई राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर जीप और ट्रक की टक्कर में छह लोगों की मौत हो गई और पांच घायल हो गए। गंभीर रूप से दो घायल लोगों कों ग्वालियर के अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है। एक अन्य दुर्घटना में अनुपुर जिले में पुष्पराजगढ़ तहसील के धारपथाढ़ मोड इलाके में एक ट्रैक्टर-ट्राली के उलट जाने से चार लोगों की मृत्यु हो गई और २७ घायल हो गए।

नेपाल के प्रधानमंत्री बाबू राम भट्टाराई ने सुदूर पश्चिम क्षेत्र में आन्दोलनकारी से बातचीत के लिए आगे आने को कहा है। इस क्षेत्र में बंद का आज ११वॉं दिन है। तीन दल ंयूसीपीएन माओवादी, नेपाल कांग्रेस और सीपीएन यूएमएल की आज काठमांडू में हुई बैठक के बाद श्री भट्टाराई ने आन्दोलनकारियों से हड़ताल समाप्त कर संबंधित अधिकारियों के साथ बातचीत करने का आग्रह किया। श्री भट्टाराई ने बताया कि बैठक के दौरान सुदूर पश्चिमी क्षेत्र की मांग के बारे में नेताओं ने गंभीरता से विचार विमर्श किया। इस क्षेत्र मे बाजार और कारखाने बंद रहने से कैलाली, कंचनपुर, धालेदुरा और अन्य जिलों में पिछले ११ दिनों से सामान्य जनजीवन पर असर पड़ रहा है।

पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री युसुफ रजा गिलानी ने कहा है कि अमन की आशा के तत्वावधान में होने वाले आर्थिक सम्मेलन से भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच शांति प्रक्रिया बढ़े्रगी। श्री गिलानी आज लाहौर में शुरू हुए दो दिन के भारत-पाक आर्थिक सम्मेलन के उद्घाटन सत्र को संबोधित कर रहे थे। सम्मेलन का आयोजन पाकिस्तान के जंग समूह और टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया समाचार पत्र ने संयुक्त रूप से किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि दोनों देश व्यापार बढ़ाने के लिए प्रयास कर रहे हैं।

सीरिया में आज नई संसद के लिए चुनाव हो रहे हैं। सीरिया सरकार ने कहा है कि यह चुनाव लोकतांत्रिक सुधारों को आगे बढ़ाने की दिशा में समर्थन का संकेत होगा। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि मुख्य विपक्षी सीरियन नेशनल कांउसिल ने चुनाव के बहिष्कार की अपील की है।

बम्बई शेयर बाजार के शुरूआती कारोबार में आज सेन्सेक्स करीब २९० अंक लुढ़क गया। फंडों की बिकवाली और एशियाई बाजारों में कमजोर रूख के कारण बाजार में यह गिरावट आई। पिछले तीन कारोबारी सत्र में सेन्सेक्स में ४८८ अंक की गिरावट दर्ज हुई। अब से कुछ देर पहले सेन्सेक्स ३७ अंक गिरकर १६ हजार ७९३ पर था। नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का निफ्टी भी १३ अंक की गिरावट के साथ ५ हजार ७३ पर आ गया। अन्तरबैंक विदेशी मुद्राबाजार में डॉलर के मुकाबले रूपया आज १३ पैसे कमजोर हुआ। एक डॉलर ५३ रूपये ६० पैसे का हो गया। एशियाई बाजारों में आज कच्चे तेल के भाव गिरे।

उच्चतम न्यायालय द्वारा नियुक्त विशेष जांच दल ने गुजरात में गुलबर्ग सोसायटी नरसंहार पर अपनी रिपोर्ट की प्रति आज शिकायतकर्ता जाकिया जाफरी को सौंपी। जाकिया जाफरी के पति पूर्व सांसद अहसान जाफरी गुजरात में २००२ के गोधरा कांड के बाद हुए दंगों के दौरान इस सोसायटी में मारे गए उनहत्तर लोगों में शामिल थे। रिपोर्ट की प्रति अहमदाबाद में मेट्रोपोलिटन मजिस्ट्रेट एम.एस भट्ट की अदालत में जाकिया को सौंपी गई। मेट्रोपोलिटन अदालत ने इस मामले की अगली सुनवाई के लिए दस मई की तारीख निर्धारित की है।

The US Secretary of State, Ms. Hillary Clinton met the West Bengal Chief Minister, Ms. Mamata Banerjee at the Writers' Building in Kolkata today. US investments in West Bengal is understood to have figured in the talks. Ms. Clinton and Ms. Banerjee first had one-to-one talks followed by delegation level talks. Later, Ms. Clinton left for New Delhi. Strict security measures were put in place for Ms. Clinton's visit to Kolkata.

Briefing newspersons after the talks the West Bengal Chief Minister, Ms. Mamata Banerjee said that the US delegation has shown interest in investing in social, education and health sectors. Ms. Mamata Banerjee also said that possibilities of enhancing business cooperation under the Private Public Partnership model were also discussed.

"They said they will give their support for business development, they will give full support and they will invest."

Earlier, in the morning Ms. Clinton joined an interactive programme at the La Martinere school in Kolkata. In reply to a question Ms. Clinton said that Pakistan should take firm steps against Hafiz Sayeed the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Ms Clinton urged India to take more steps to cut purchase of oil from Iran to keep pressure on it.

The US Secretary of State will arrive in New Delhi later today. She will meet External Affairs Minister SM Krishna tomorrow. Civil nuclear cooperation and regional security are among the key issues that US Secretary of State is expected to discuss with Mr. Krishna. The two leaders will also review progress made in Indo-US strategic partnership ahead of the strategic dialogue between the two countries to be held in Washington on 13th of next month. Ms. Clinton is also expected to call on Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The first Indo-Bangla Joint Consultative Commission meeting is being held in New Delhi today. Bilateral issues like extradition treaty, Teesta water treaty and boundary implementation agreement are likely to dominate the agenda at the meeting. An official statement said, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna and his Bangladeshi counterpart Dipu Moni will co-chair the JCC meeting.

The JCC was formed under the framework agreement on development and cooperation signed during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Dhaka in September last year. The Commission will also review the progress made in the implementation of the accords signed during Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to New Delhi in 2010. The JCC, which was envisaged as an annual event at the level of foreign ministers, will also explore newer avenues for cooperation including progress of activities under the Framework Agreement.

Defence Minister A.K. Antony today assured the Lok Sabha that the Armed Forces are ready to meet any eventuality. They are in a state of operational readiness and have adequate equipment and ammunition. Remedial action is taken to replenish shortages as and when they occur. Answering questions, he said acquisition of arms and ammunition for the defence forces is a complex process.

It is carried out as per the rules laid down under the Defence Procurement Procedure and Defence Procurement Manual. Mr. Antony said there is a provision for Fast Track Procurement to meet urgent operational needs in a crisis situation.

"We are taking speedy decisions to find solution for shortages in certain critical areas. But by and large our armed forces are self sufficient and they are ready to meet any challenges."

All strategic roads in the North Eastern region are being developed as scheduled. The length of their network is eleven thousand six hundred and seventy two kilometers at present. They are being built and maintained by the Border Roads Organisation.

Defence Minister A.K. Antony said this during question hour in the Lok Sabha today. He said the double-laning of the 317-kilometre road between Balipara in Assam and Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh is progressing.

So far, 88 kilometers of the road has been completed and works are in progress in the remaining stretches. In reply to a question, Mr. Antony said the delays in road construction in the North Eastern States occur mainly due to the time taken in getting forest and wild life clearance and land acquisition.

The government today said that over one lakh four thousand villages have been provided electricity till 31st of March this year. Replying to supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha, Power minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said with this 95 per cent of villages have been electrified. Mr. Shinde said under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana free electricity service connections to over 194.25 lakh Below Poverty Line households have been released.

He assured the House that apart from the projects already sanctioned, remaining households could be covered for access of electricity in the 12th plan period. He said the percentage of rural households with electricity for domestic use has increased from 53 per cent in 2002 to 66 per cent in 2008-09.

The government today said it is committed for energy security in the country and to provide cheaper coal to the power plants. Replying to supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha, Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal said that Coal India will supply 80 per cent coal to all power plants who have signed Fuel Supply Agreements, FSAs with the company.

Mr. Jaiswal said that Coal India has since put in place the Modified Fuel Supply Agreements and circulated it to all coal supplying companies. The minister also said supply of coal at notified prices to the Power and other major sectors is essential to keep the cost of power generation and manufacturing at reasonable levels.

The Supreme Court today indicated that it may allow 82-year-old Pakistani microbiologist Mohammed Khalil Chishti to visit his country temporarily. He has been awarded life term in a 20-year-old murder case and is presently out on bail, but has been asked to confine himself to Ajmer only. A bench of Justices P Sathasivam and J Chelameswar gave the directions amid the Centre's objection that if allowed to go to Pakistan temporarily, Chishti may not return to India at all. The apex court said it would like to consider Chishti's plea in view of the special circumstances of his case.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI has arrested former Chief Medical Officer CMO Dr. AK Shukla in connection with murder of the then CMO family welfare Dr. Vinod Arya in Lucknow today. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that Dr. Shukla has been taken into custody for hatching conspiracy for killing of Dr. Arya. He was called by the probe agency late last night for interrogation and later he was taken into custody.

Dr. Arya was murdered on October 27 2010 near his residence in Vikas Nagar area in the state capital while coming out for morning walk. It has been alleged that Dr. Shukla had hired assassins to kill Dr. Arya due to official rivalry. The special Task force of state police has arrested three persons in connection with the murder of Dr. Arya. Dr. Shukla was on bail in the NRHM scam probed by the CBI.

A Special Court of CBI in Ranchi has pronounced sentences to 40 accused in a case related to Fodder Scam. The sentences range from four to seven years of rigorous imprisonments and fines from 25 thousands rupees to two crores rupees. The Court had found all the 69 accused guilty in case related to fraudulent withdrawals of about 48 crores rupees from Doranda treasury of Ranchi.

AIR Correspondent reports that out of the 69 convicted, 29 were sentenced last Wednesday itself and remaining 40 were sentenced today. Sentence have been pronounced in 43 cases of the Fodder Scam, in which about one thousand government officers and suppliers had been sent to jail alongwith fines so far.

The Assam Government has announced a special scheme of 10 crore rupees for the development of inland water service and road communication in Dhubri district which witnessed one of the worst ferry mishaps in the State last week. According to an official press release at Guwahati, the scheme is a part of the Chief Minister’s special programme.

It said the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has also submitted a memorandum to Union Shipping Minister GK Vasan who visited the Medertari in Dhubri district on Saturday last to meet the families of the ferry mishap victims. The Chief Minister has urged the Union Minister to approve a scheme of 365 crore rupees for development of 12 river docks and purchase of 200 modernized ferryboats for better transportation facilities in Brahmaputra river-side areas.

Meanwhile, search for more missing persons in last Monday’s ferry boat tragedy is on for the ninth day today. 63 bodies have so far been fished out from the Brahmaputra River while many are still reported to be missing.

The Northern Railways has decided to extend its outreach ticketing service to people living in far-flung areas of Delhi through a Mushkil Asaan scheme. According to the Chief Public Relation Officer Naresh Sharma, the mobile ticketing service through a van will be available for both reserved and unreserved tickets as well as their cancellations.

Mr. Sharma said, people now need not go to a railway station or a booking centre to purchase or cancel railway tickets. No extra charges will be levied on tickets booked through the scheme. He also said the services are available from 10:30 am to 4:30 PM on all week days except on Sunday.

Talking about the schedule of the mobile ticketing van, he said, it will be available on Monday at Chittaranjan Park, on Tuesday at Vasant Kunj, on Wednesday at Dwarka, on Thursday at Mayur Vihar, on Friday at Malviya Nagar and on Saturday at Burari Transport Authority.

In Madhya Pradesh, four people were killed and 27 injured when a tractor-trolley overturned at Dharpathad Mod area of Pushprajgarh tehsil in Anuppur district this morning. Eight seriously injured have been referred to Shahdol district hospital while 19 injured have been admitted in Pushprajgarh. A marriage party was on board the tractor-trolley that was going to Harrai village from Jhalwar.

In Rajasthan, 61 BJP MLAs tendered their resignations from the primary membership of the party. Today, Chhotu Singh Bhati, Rajendra Rathore and Habibur Rehman also tendered their resignations in support of Mrs. Vasundhara Raje. Meanwhile, senior party leader Om Prakash Mathur and BJP General Secretary Kiran Maheshwari moved to Delhi to meet central leaders.

Earlier, Mrs. Raje said that it is BJPs internal matter and will be resolved within the party. Our correspondent reports that Mrs Vasundhara Raje is in Jaipur.

"Now the ball is in the court of BJPs central leadership. Mrs Raje supporter Kiran Maheshwari is in Delhi. According to party sources today she will meet with Mr Arun Jetly and other party leaders. On the other hand hard core group of BJP is silent, Mr Gulab Chand Kataria said that he will not break party discipline. This controversy was started with Kataria’s proposed Lok Jagran Yatra which was strongly opposed by Mrs Vasundhara Raje. Kataria announced to withdraw his yatra on Saturday but Raje supporters started tendering resignations. 2 independent MLAs Ranvir Pahalvan and Jeeva Ram Chaudhary are also supporting them. More than 2500 party workers from different parts of state also sent their resignations so far. Syrians vote to elect 250 member parliament today. Over 15 million eligible voters will decide the fate of 7195 candidates across the country. Syria's Information Minister Adnan Mahmud said the elections showcase the faith of the Syrian people in democracy and a rejection of violence. In a statement issued in Damascus he said, that by taking part in the election, Syrians are defying the campaign of terrorism and aggression against the country.

The main opposition Syrian national Council has given a call for boycott of the elections and dismissed it as a sham. The Head of the National Coordination Body for Democratic Change in Syria, Haytham Manna, said they are against these elections because they don’t have any of the characteristics of free elections.

Nepal’ s Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has called on the protestors in the Far West to come for talks, as the bandh in the region has entered the eleventh consecutive day. Following the meeting of the three parties, the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML, in Kathmandu today Mr. Bhattarai urged the protestors to withdraw the strike and hold dialogue with the concerned authorities.

The Far west Ekta Samaj and the Samyukta Loktantrik Paribesh has been protesting against the UCPN (Maoist) restructuring proposal for dividing the region. Mr. Bhattarai said during the meeting, the leaders held serious talks on the demand of the far western region.

US hostage Warren Weinstein has appeared in an al Qaeda video for the first time since he was kidnapped in Pakistan in August last year. According to the US monitoring service SITE, the video was posted on jihadist forums by al Qaeda's media arm as-Sahab yesterday. There is no indication of when the video was made.

The elderly Weinstein, dressed in a traditional Pakistani tunic and speaking impassively to camera in English, tells his wife Elaine that he is fine. He also urges US President Barack Obama to respond to the demands of his kidnappers. And at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market, the rupee resumed lower, at 53.63 per dollar, against Friday's closing of 53.47, due to a sharp fall in the domestic stock market. But it later recovered to 53.41 per dollar in early morning deals, on fresh selling of dollars by banks and exporters.

The Supreme Court today suspended the life sentence of CPI, Maoist, activist Narayan Sanyal and granted bail to him. Sanyal held guilty of committing sedition by a Chhattisgarh court in 2010. A bench of justices G S Singhvi and S J Mukhopadhaya gave bail to 78-year-old Sanyal, considering his age and the fact that he has already spent over six years in jail since his arrest in 2006. The bench said the concerned trial court would impose the condition to its satisfaction for Sanyal's release on bail.

Her husband, ex-parliamentarian Ehsan Jafri was among 69 people killed during the 2002 post-Godhra riots in Gujarat.The SIT, report was handed over to Zakia in the court of metropolitan magistrate M S Bhatt in Ahmedabad. India is to double its tea export to Pakistan. This is envisaged in a memorandum of understanding signed between the Indian Tea Association and its Pakistani counterpart in Kolkata on the 10th of April this year. Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia gave this information in the Lok Sabha today. He said India supplied 24 million kilograms of tea to Pakistan last year. The figure will go up to 50 million kilograms in 2015.

वित्तमंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने आज सामान्य कर वंचनारोधी नियम-गार के कार्यान्वयन को अप्रैल २०१३ तक स्थगित करने की घोषणा की है। मौजूदा वित्त वर्ष के बजट में यह प्रस्ताव किया गया था। इस नियम का उपयोग कर चोरी रोकने के लिए किया जा रहा है। चालू वित्त वर्ष का वित्त विधेयक पेश करते हुए श्री मुखर्जी ने स्पष्ट किया कि सरकार उस प्रावधान को हटा देगी, जिससे कर चोरी न करने को सिद्ध करने की जिम्मेदारी करदाता पर डाली गई है। उन्होंने कहा कि अब यह जिम्मेदारी कर अधिकारियों की होगी।

हमने गार के कार्यान्वयन को एक वर्ष के लिए स्थगित किया है। जिससे करदाताओं और कर प्रशासन दोनों को ही अधिक समय मिल पाएगा। अब यह वित्त वर्ष २०१३-१४ और बाद के वर्षों की आय पर लागू होगा।

वित्तमंत्री ने ब्रैंड वाले और दूसरे सभी आभूषणों पर लगाये गये उत्पाद शुल्क को इस साल १७ मार्च से वापस लेने की भी घोषणा की।
श्री मुखर्जी ने कहा कि सर्राफा और आभूषण व्यापार में बेहिसाबी पैसे के प्रवाह को रोकने के लिए वित्त विधेयक में बिक्रेता द्वारा बिक्री की राशि के एक प्रतिशत की दर से खरीदार से कर वसूलने का प्रावधान किया गया है। यह कर दो लाख रुपये से अधिक के सभी सौदों पर वसूला जाएगा।
सरकार ने संपत्ति की बिक्री पर स्रोत पर कर कटौती को भी समाप्त कर दिया है। सरकार ने कृषि भूमि के अलावा अन्य अचल संपत्तियों के हस्तांतरण पर स्रोत पर एक प्रतिशत कर का प्रस्ताव किया था।

विदेश मंत्री एस.एम. कृष्णा ने कहा कि भारत तीस्ता जल मुद्दे के शीध्र समाधान के लिए वचनबद्ध है। उन्होंने कहा कि पानी एक संवेदनशील मामला है और इस पर सभी पक्षों के साथ बातचीत जारी है। उन्होंने कहा कि तीस्ता जल संधि पर राजनीतिक सहमति बनाने की कोशिश की जा रही है। बंगलादेश की विदेश मंत्री के साथ भारत-बंगलादेश संयुक्त सलाहकार परिषद-जेसीसी की पहली बैठक के बाद आज मीडिया से बातचीत में विदेश मंत्री एस. एम. कृष्णा ने कहा कि दोनों देश व्यापक क्षेत्र में सहयोग कर रहे हैं।

उच्चतम न्यायालय द्वारा नियुक्त न्यायिक सलाहकार ने कहा है कि २००२ के गुजरात दंगों के दौरान विभिन्न समूहों में दुश्मनी पैदा करने के लिए गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी पर आई पी सी के विभिन्न धाराओं के तहत मुकदमा चलाया जा सकता है। विशेष जांच दल - एस.आई.टी. ने अपनी रिपोर्ट में निलम्बित आई पी एस अधिकारी संजीव भट्ट के इस आरोप को रद्द कर दिया था कि श्री मोदी ने गोधरा कांड के मद्देनजर २७ फरवरी २००२ को बहुसंख्यक समुदाय को, अल्पसंख्यकों को सबक सिखाने के लिए निर्देश दिया था।
अहमदाबाद के मेट्रोपोलिटन मजिस्ट्रेट की अदालत में एस आई टी ने शिकायतकर्ता श्रीमती जाफरी को एस आई टी रिपोर्ट और उच्चतम न्यायालय द्वारा नियुक्त न्यायिक सलाहकार की रिपोर्ट सौंपी। जाफरी के पति और कांग्रेस के पूर्व सांसद एहसान जाफरी २००२ के गुलबर्ग सोसाइटी दंगे में मारे गए ६९ लोगों में से एक थे।

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग के अध्यक्ष और भारत के पूर्व प्रधान न्यायाधीश के.जी. बालाकृष्णन के खिलाफ अपने पद पर रहते हुए कथित कदाचार के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करने के लिए केन्द्र को निर्देश देने वाली याचिका पर अपना निर्णय सुरक्षित रखा है।
उच्चतम न्यायालय की एक खण्डपीठ ने इस याचिका पर अपना फैसला सुरक्षित रखा, जिसमें सरकार को यह निर्देश देने की भी मांग की गई है कि वह पूर्व प्रधान न्यायाधीश बालाकृष्णन को राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग के अध्यक्ष पद से हटाने के लिए राष्ट्रपति के जरिए न्यायालय से सलाह ले।
उच्चतम न्यायालय कॉमन काज+ संस्था की जनहित याचिका की सुनवाई कर रहा है, जिसमें श्री बालाकृष्णन और उनके संबंधियों द्वारा उनके उच्चतम न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश पद पर रहने के दौरान वैध आमदनी से अधिक संपत्ति जमा करने का आरोप लगाया गया था।

मध्यप्रदेश में सी बी आई की एक विशेष अदालत ने आर टी आई कार्यकर्ता शहला मसूद की हत्या के मामले में सभी पांच अभियुक्तों को न्यायिक हिरासत की अवधि १८ मई तक बढ़ा दी है। भोपाल की इंटिरियर डिजाइनर जाहिदा और उसकी सहयोगी शबाब फारूकी और अन्य तीन को आज इन्दौर में न्यायिक मजिस्ट्रेट की विशेष अदालत में पेश किया गया। अदालत ने सी बी आई की दलील स्वीकार करते हुए उनकी हिरासत अवधि बढ़ा दी।

रक्षा मंत्री ए.के. एंटनी ने कहा है कि भारतीय सेना की विशेष जरूरतों को पूरी करने के लिए टाट्रा ट्रक खरीदे गए थे, लेकिन २००८ के बाद इस वाहन की खरीद नहीं की गई है। रक्षा मंत्री ने आज लोकसभा में बताया कि सरकार ने १९९७ में टाट्रा के साथ एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये थे। २००३ में कंपनी के साथ एक और समझौता किया गया। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार रक्षा खरीद पर पूरा बजट खर्च कर रही है।

पाकिस्तान ने भारत के सामने, सियाचिन से सेनाएं हटाने का प्रस्ताव रखा है। रक्षा मंत्री ए के एंटनी ने आज लोकसभा में एक लिखित उत्तर में यह जानकारी दी। हाल में इस क्षेत्र में हिमस्खलन के कारण पाकिस्तान के कई सैनिकों के मारे जाने के बाद यह पेशकश की गई है। श्री एंटनी ने सदन को यह भी बताया कि पिछले महीने पाकिस्तानी राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली जरदारी ने प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह के साथ अपनी मुलाकात के दौरान जम्मू कश्मीर, सियाचिन और सरक्रीक सहित सभी आपसी मुद्दों का समाधान किये जाने की बात कही थी।

राजस्थान में भारतीय जनता पार्टी में नेतृत्व को लेकर विवाद जारी है। श्रीमती वसुन्धरा राजे के समर्थन में भाजपा के ६१ विधायकों ने पार्टी की प्राथमिक सदस्यता से इस्तीफा दे दिया है। इससे पहले राजे समर्थक अगले विधानसभा चुनाव में श्रीमती राजे को मुख्यमंत्री उम्मीदवार पेश करने की मांग कर रहे हैं। इस बीच, पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता गुलाब चन्द कटारिया ने आज कहा कि श्रीमती राजे द्वारा इस्तीफा देने की पेशकश तर्कसंगत नहीं है, क्योंकि उन्होंने पहले ही अपनी लोक जागरण यात्रा वापस ले ली है।

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today announced deferment of the implementation of the General Anti-Avoidance Rules or GAAR till April 2013. The proposal was made in the budget for the current fiscal. The rule is being used to check avoidance of tax. Introducing the Finance Bill for the current fiscal, Mr. Mukherjee clarified that the government will remove a provision which puts the onus on the tax payer to prove that there has been no tax avoidance. He said now the onus would be on the tax officials. The Finance Minister said the implementation of GAAR has been done away with for now to provide more time to both taxpayers and tax administration. It will now apply to income in the financial year 2013-14 and subsequent years.

The Finance Minister also announced a roll back of the excise levy on all branded and unbranded jewellery with effect from 17th March this year. He said, the imposition of Central Excise duty at the rate of one per cent had attracted public attention. Mr. Mukherjee said, the levy was well intentioned and introduced not so much for raising revenue as for rationalising the movement towards Goods and Services Tax. However, the government has decided to withdraw it considering the sentiments of the people both within and outside the House.

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna today said India is committed to an early solution on Teesta water issue. He said, since water is a sensitive matter, internal consultations are on amongst stakeholders on it and efforts are afoot to evolve a political consensus on the Teesta water treaty. Talking to the media after the first meeting of Indo- Bangla Joint Consultative Commission, JCC , Mr Krishna added that there is no change in the ground situation and waters are flowing.

Extradition pact, connectivity, border management and trade were also among other key bilateral issues that dominated the JCC meeting, which was co-chaired by Mr Krishna and his Bangladeshi counterpart Dipu Moni in New Delhi.

Mr Krishna informed that relations between the two countries encompass every possible area of cooperation which also include trade, power, water resources, security and border management.

On this occasion, Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni expressed satisfaction and said that every aspect of bilateral issues were discussed in the JCC.

Our correspondent reports that senior Party leader Gulab Chand Kataria today said that tendering resignation by Raje is illogical as he has already withdrawn his lok jagran yatra.

After two days silence Mr Gulab Chand Kataria today alleged Mrs Raje for not listening him.Kataria said that he tried many times in previous days to talk to her.Meanwhile controversy is still continuing and today also many Raje supporters came to her residence at Jaipur.2 MPs,61 MLAs and more than 2500 party officials announced to resign from the primary membership of BJP in support of Vasundhara Raje in last 2 days.Two independent MLAs Ranvir Pahlvan and Jeevaram Chaudhary are also supporting Mrs Raje.Anurag Vajpeyi AIR News Jaipur .

Addressing a press conference in Jaipur late this evening, the BJP State President, Dr. Arun Chaturvedi said that he has not received any resignation from Vasundhara Raje. He said the option of disciplinary action against Vasundhara is open.

The Supreme Court today reserved its order on a plea for its direction to the Centre to take action against NHRC Chairman and former Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan for his alleged misconduct during his tenure as apex court judge.

A division bench reserved its verdict on the petition which also seeks direction to government to make a Presidential reference to the apex court for removal of former Chief Justice of India Balakrishanan as the Chairman of National Human Rights Commission.

The Defence Minister, Mr. A.K.Antony today said Tatra trucks were purchased to meet the special needs of the Indian Army but no vehicle had been procured from the company after 2008. The Defence Minister told the Lok Sabha that the Government had decided in 1997 to sign a contract with Tatra.

The visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today said that America will pushPakistan for seeking conviction of Mumbai attack master mind Hafiz Sayeed. Speaking at an interactive session in Kolkata, she said that Islamabad has not done as much as the US and India wanted it to fight terrorism.

She urged Islamabad to take firm steps against terrorists. When asked about the next big target of the United States after Osma Bin Laden, She said, America wants to disable the Al-Qaeda. Mrs. Clinton said there are several significant leaders still on the run and the United States wants to go after them.

The Congress today advocated for a multi -pronged approach to deal with the challenges of terrorism. Briefing reporters in New Delhi , the party spokesperson Manish Tiwary said that the meeting held between the Centre and the Chief Minsiters of States on setting up of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, NCTC was to allay apprehensions of those state governments who are opposing its operationalisation.

The Home Secretaries of India and Pakistan will hold bilateral talks on May 24 and 25 in Islamabad during which a liberalised visa regime for the two countries is expected to be approved apart from New Delhi pressing for action against the perpetrators of 26/11 attack.

According to the Home Ministry, a decision on the issuance of multiple-entry and reporting-free visas for businessmen, allowing them to visit five cities instead of three at present, is expected to be taken.

Recovering smartly from early lows, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed 82 points, or 0.5 percent higher, at 16,913, after the government deferred implementation of the General Anti-Avoidance Rules by one year. The Nifty rose 27 points, or 0.5 percent, to 5,114. But stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea dropped between 1.6 percent and 2.8 percent, on global growth concerns. The rupee appreciated 56 paise, to 52.91, against the dollar. Gold dropped 120 rupees, to 29,620 rupees per ten grams in Delhi. Silver lost 550 rupees, to 55,700 rupees per kilo. Oil continued its slide, as US crude oil futures plunged 3.15 dollars, to 95.34 dollars a barrel, while Brent crude slipped below 113 dollars a barrel. Pradeep Kumar, AIR News.

In Syria, voting is on for the 250 member parliament across the country. The voting which began at 7am Syrian local time has been peaceful so far. Electorates can cast their votes till 10 pm after which the counting of votes will take place. There are nearly 15 million eligible voters in the country who will decide the fate of 7195 candidates. Seven political parties including the ruling Baath party are in the fray for 250 seats .The Baath party is contesting these elections under the coalition of National Progressive Front. Over 12,152 polling centers have been set up.

In the title clash at Almaty today, the 20-year-old lost to Cuba's top light flyweight boxer Yosvany Veitia. While Devendro secured eleven points, his Cuban rival got fifteen points.
