 भारत, पाकिस्तान के विदेश सचिव के साथ होने वाली बातचीत में पाकिस्तानी खुफिया एजेंसी आईएसआई और मुम्बई आतंकी हमले के षडयंत्रकारियों के बीच सांठगांठ का मामला उठायेगा। कल नई दिल्ली में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में विदेश मंत्री एस. एम. कृष्णा ने कहा कि इस बैठक में द्विपक्षीय मामलों पर चर्चा होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि शिकागो की अदालत में आतंकवादी तहव्वुर राना के मुकदमे से पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ अहम सबूत, आकलन और हलफिया बयान मिले हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि राना ने आईएसआई और मुम्बई आतंकी हमले के षडयंत्रकारियों के बीच सांठगांठ का जिक्र किया है और यह मामला इस महीने के अंत में होने वाली बैठक में उठाया जाएगा। ये पूछे जाने पर कि क्या सरकार अमरीका से राना को मुम्बई आतंकी हमले में बरी किये जाने के फैसले के खिलाफ ऊपरी अदालत में अपील करने का अनुरोध करेगी, श्री कृष्णा ने कहा कि भारत सरकार किसी भी देश की अंदरूनी कानूनी प्रक्रिया में दखल देने में यकीन नहीं रखती।
 चीन द्वारा ब्रह्‌मपुत्र नदी की धारा मोड़ने के मसले पर श्री कृष्णा ने कहा कि सरकार ने पेइचिंग में भारतीय दूतावास से इस बारे में रिपोर्ट मांगी है।

हम अपने मिशन और सरकार से और ब्यौरा लेने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। इस रिपोर्ट के आधार पर ही हम स्थिति का आंकलन कर पाएंगे और समुचित कदम उठा सकेंगे।

 पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार सिंगूर में टाटा समूह के साथ किया गया पट्टा समझौता रद्द करने और पट्टे पर दी गई जमीन वापस लेने के लिए आज राज्य विधानसभा में विधेयक पेश करेगी। विधानमंडल कार्य मंत्री मनोज चक्रवर्ती ने कोलकाता में कल सर्वदलीय बैठक के बाद संवाददाताओं को ये जानकारी दी।
 मुख्यमंत्री ममता बैनर्जी ने कहा है कि उनकी सरकार उन किसानों की चार सौ एकड़ जमीन लौटाने के प्रति वचनबद्ध है, जो अपनी जमीन नहीं देना चाहते। बाकी छः सौ एकड़ जमीन उद्योग को दी जाएगी।

 मुंबई में जानेमाने पत्रकार ज्योर्तिमय डे की हत्या के सिलसिले में सहायक पुलिस आयुक्त अनिल महाबोले का तबादला कर दिया गया है। श्री महाबोले दक्षिण मुंबई के आजाद मैदान मंडल के प्रभारी थे। अब उन्हें नाइगांव में स्थानीय हथियार नियंत्रण कक्ष में भेज दिया गया है।

एसिसटेंट पुलिस कमीशनर अनिल महाबोले जिनकी वरिष्ठ पत्रिकार जे डे की हत्या के सिलसिल में पूछताछ हो सकती है। उनका दक्षिण मुम्बई के आजाद मैदान विभाग से उप नगरीय नाईगांव में तबादला हो गया है। वहीं महाराष्ट्र सरकार द्वारा इस मामले की सीबीआई जांच निकारे जाने के बाद पत्रकार हल्ला विरोधी क्रुति समिति से जुड़े पत्रकारों ने कहा है कि वे इस बारे में बातचीत करने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री, कांग्रेस अयक्षा और गृहमंत्री पी चिदम्बरम से नई दिल्ली में मिलेंगे। मुम्बई पुलिस ने भी कल इस मामले में एक अहम कदम उठाते हुए चार संदिग्ध हत्यारों में से एक हत्यारे का स्केच प्रदर्शित किया है। सुधाराम सुब्रहमण्यम्‌ आकाशवाणी समाचार मुम्बई।

 महाराष्ट्र में पुणे की एक विशेष अदालत ने करोड़ों रुपये के फर्जी स्टाम्प पेपर घोटाले के सरगना अब्दुल करीम तेलगी को एक मुकदमे में १० साल की कैद की सजा सुनाई है। सीबीआई के विशेष वकील प्रदीप घराट ने बताया कि तेलगी को यह सजा पहले की सजाएं पूरी होने के बाद अलग से काटनी होगी और उसे दस साल तक और जेल में रहना होगा।
 तेलगी इस समय बंगलौर की जेल में है। यह मामला मुम्बई के उपनगर मुलुंड इलाके में राजगड जायसवाल और अवधेश तिवारी नाम के दो व्यक्तियों की गिरफ्‌तारी का है। वे दोनों एक अधिकृत स्टाम्प विक्रेता कंचन भोंगाले के नाम पर कथित रूप से फर्जी स्टाम्प बेच रहे थे। इस मामले में तेलगी सहित दस लोगों को आरोपी बनाया गया था।
 श्री घराट ने बताया कि तेलगी को भारतीय दंड संहिता की विभिन्न धाराओं के तहत दस साल और महाराष्ट्र संगठित अपराध नियंत्रण कानून-मकोका के तहत पांच साल की सजा सुनाई गयी है। अदालत ने तेलगी पर १७ लाख रूपए का जुर्माना भी लगाया।

 उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस ने पुष्टि की है कि लखीमपुर खीरी जिले में पुलिस थाने में पेड़ से लटकी मिली लड़की की गला घोटकर हत्या की गई थी। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि लखनऊ में दूसरे पोस्टमार्टम से यह बात साबित हुई है।

लड़की के शव का प्रथम परीक्षण करने वाले तीनों चिकित्सकों को निलम्बित कर दिया गया है। सरकार ने कहा है कि जांच में उनकी आरोपियों के साथ मिली भगत पाये जाने पर उनके खिलाफ आपराधिक कार्रवाई भी की जायेगी। ग्यारह निलंबित पुलिसकर्मियों में से तीन को साक्ष्य मिटाने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया है और सभी के विरूद्ध विभागीय कार्रवाई शुरू कर दी गई है। जिला पुलिस अधीक्षक को हटा दिया गया है। मामले की जांच कर रही  सीबी-सीआईडी को एक सप्ताह के भीतर अपनी प्रारम्भिक रिपोर्ट पेस करने को कहा गया है। पूरे मामले की सीबीआई जांच कराने की मांग कर रहे सभी प्रमुख विपक्षी दलों ने राज्य सरकार पर सीबी-सीआईडी जांच के जरिए आरोपियों को बचाने का आरोप लगाया है। केन्द्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग ने प्रदेश के पुलिस महानिदेशक को नोटिस भेजकर चार सप्ताह के भीतर मामले के विस्तृत रिपोर्ट देने को कहा है। सुनील शुक्ल आकाशवाणी समाचार लखनऊ।

 तमिलनाडु की मुख्यमंत्री जे. जयललिता आज नई दिल्ली में प्रधानमंत्री डॉ मनमोहन सिंह से मुलाकात करेंगी। आधिकारिक सूत्रों ने बताया कि बैठक के दौरान सुश्री जयललिता तमिलनाडु में विकास से जुड़ी परियोजनाओं और श्रीलंका में तमिलों के पुनर्वास के मुद्दे पर चर्चा कर सकती हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने सूत्रों के हवाले से खबर दी है कि वे कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी से भी भेंट कर सकती हैं। १६ मई को मुख्यमंत्री पद संभालने के बाद सुश्री जयललिता की ये पहली दिल्ली यात्रा है।

 असम सरकार ने वर्तमान शैक्षिक सत्र से राज्य में शिक्षा का अधिकार कानून लागू करने का फैसला किया है। यह जानकारी राज्य के शिक्षा मंत्री हेमंत बिस्व शर्मा ने कल गुवाहाटी में दी। राज्य सरकार इसके लिए चार अतिरिक्त विश्वविद्यालय और १२ नये सरकारी कॉलेज खोलेगी। इसी तरह प्राथमिक, माध्यमिक और उच्चतर माध्यमिक स्कूलों की संख्या बढ़ाई जाएगी, ताकि हरेक गांव में स्कूल खुल सके। डॉ. शर्मा ने बताया कि प्राथमिक और माध्यमिक स्कूलों के ३१ हजार शिक्षकों की भर्ती की प्रक्रिया चार महीने में पूरी कर ली जाएगी।

 असम के राज्यपाल जे.बी पटनायक ने ११ जुलाई से राज्य विधानसभा का बजट सत्र बुलाया है। इस सत्र के दस दिन तक चलने की संभावना है। वित्त मंत्रालय का प्रभार संभाल रहे मुख्यमंत्री तरुण गोगोई सत्र के पहले दिन वर्ष २०११-१२ के लिए बजट पेश करेंगे। इससे पहले  विधानसभा चुनावों के मद्देनजर चालू वित्त वर्ष के शुरूआती चार महीनों के लिए लेखानुदान पारित किया गया था।

 दक्षिण-पश्चिम मॉनसून ने ओडीशा में दस्तक दे दी है जिसकी वजह से राजधानी भुवनेश्वर सहित राज्य के कई तटीय जिलों में कल शाम भारी वर्षा हुई। भुवनेश्वर में मौसम विभाग ने राज्य के कई भागों में अगले दो दिनों में भारी से बहुत भारी वर्षा होने की घोषणा की है। बंगाल की खड़ी में बने कम दबाव से मॉनसून की परिस्थिति अनुकूल होने की संभावना है।

मॉनसून के आने से उड़ीसा के लोगों को तेज गर्मी से राहत मिला है। दक्षिणी पश्चिम मॉनसून वायु के प्रवाह से पूरी, कटक, गंजाम, गजापति, खुर्धा, नवरंगपुर, तम्बलपुर जिले के लगभग सभी स्थान पर कल रात तेज बारिश हुआ है। तम्बल पुर के तितलीमा में बिजली गिरने से सात लोग घायल हो गये हैं। भुवनेश्वर मौसम विभाग ने अगले ४८ घण्टे में उड़ीस में दक्षिण और उत्तर प्रांत में बारिश होने की अनुमान लगाया है। मछुआरों को समुन्दर के अंदर जाने से मना किया गया है। प्रकाश दास आकाशवाणी समाचार भुवनेश्वर।
 उधर, उत्तर भारत में रविवार के खुशगवार मौसम के बाद पारा एक बार फिर चढ़ गया और लोगों को गर्मी तथा उमस से परेशानी झेलनी पड़ी।
 राष्ट्रीय राजधानी दिल्ली में कल तापमान दो डिग्री बढ़कर ३९ दशमलव पांच डिग्री सेल्सियस हो गया। मौसम विशेषज्ञों ने आज दिल्ली में कहीं-कहीं बादल छाने और कुछ स्थानों पर छींटे पड़ने का अनुमान व्यक्त किया है।
 पंजाब और हरियाणा के मैदानी इलाकों में बहुत से स्थानों पर अधिकतम तापमान सामान्य से ज्यादा रहा। उत्तर प्रदेश के कुछ जिलों में आंधी और बारिश आई।  राजस्थान में जबरदस्त गर्मी पड़ रही है।

 सरकार को जुलाई २०११ से जून २०१२ फसल वर्ष के दौरान धान की दस करोड़ बीस लाख टन रिकॉर्ड पैदावार होने की उम्मीद है। कृषि सचिव पी के बसु ने कल संवाददाताओं को बताया कि इस साल मॉनसून की शुरूआत अच्छी है। श्री बसु ने कहा कि दक्षिण-पश्चिम मॉनसून की प्रगति और देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों में उसकी शुरूआत अब तक सही रही है। उन्होंने आशा व्यक्त की कि धान और अन्य खरीफ फसलों की पैदावार भी पिछले साल से अच्छी रहेगी। अब तक खरीफ की फसलों की बुवाई पूरी तरह से नहीं हुई है और न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य में वृद्धि की घोषणा से किसानों को इस मौसम में फसलों की बुवाई के बारे में सही फैसला करने में मदद मिलेगी।

 स्लोवेनिया के प्रधानमंत्री बोरूत पाहोर और प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह आज नई दिल्ली में मुलाकात करेंगे। दोनों नेताओं के बीच आर्थिक सहयोग और निवेश की संभावनाएं बढ़ाने के बारे में मुख्य रूप से चर्चा होगी। दोनों देशों के बीच कई समझौते होने की उम्मीद है, जिनमें विज्ञान तथा प्रौद्योगिकी, विमानन, ऊर्जा और निवेश के क्षेत्र शामिल हैं।

 भारत और विश्व बैंक गंगा नदी की सफाई के बारे में आज एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर करेंगे। पर्यावरण मंत्रालय की कल नई दिल्ली में जारी एक विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि राष्ट्रीय गंगा नदी थाला परियोजना सात हजार करोड़ रूपए की राशि से विश्व बैंक की सहायता से लागू की जाएगी। इसमें से केन्द्र सरकार की भागीदारी ५१ सौ करोड़ रुपए की होगी जबकि उत्तराखण्ड, उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार, झारखण्ड और पश्चिम बंगाल के पांच राज्यों की हिस्सेदारी १९ सौ करोड़ रूपए की होगी।

 India will raise the issue of nexus between Pakistan's ISI and the perpetrators of 26/11 Mumbai attacks during the forthcoming talks between the foreign secretaries of the two countries. Talking to reporters in New Delhi yesterday, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said that all issues of bilateral nature will be taken up during the meeting. He said, New Delhi has got important evidence, assessments and statements on oath against Pakistan from Rana's trial in the Chicago Court. He said, Rana mentioned about the nexus between Pakistan government's ISI and the perpetrators of Mumbai attack and the issue will be taken up for discussions during the meeting scheduled for later this month.
 On the issue of China diverting the course of Brahmaputra river, Mr Krishna said, the government has sought a report from its mission in Beijing on the matter and appropriate diplomatic steps will be taken after getting more details from the mission.

 For sometime off and on, this question comes up and we are trying to get more details, both from the government and from our mission. And then depending upon the report that we get, then we will be able to make an assessment and then take appropriate steps.

 Uttar Pradesh police has confirmed that the teenage girl found hanging inside a police station compound in Lakhimpur Kheri district was strangled to death. It has been established in the second autopsy report which was conducted by a four member doctor team including a woman from Lucknow. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that three doctors who have conducted the first postmortem have been suspended.

 11 police men have been suspended and of them three have been arrested for the charges of destroying the evidence for the alleged rape and killing of a teenage girl at police station. Departmental inquiry has begun against all policemen suspended in the case and district police chief has been transferred. Probe agency CB CID has been asked to file its preliminary report within week. Demanding CBI inquiry into the case major opposition parties have alleged that state Government of shielding the accused through CB-CID probe. The National Human Rights Commission has also issued a notice to the Director General of police and sent its own team to investigate the matter. Meanwhile ruling Bahujan Samaj Party spokesman has said that the statements being made by the opposition parties over the incident were politically motivated. Sunil Shukla, AIR News Lucknow.

 Mumbai Police has transferred Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Anil Mahabole in connection with the murder of veteran journalist Jyotirmoy Dey. Dey was shot dead by four unidentified assailants near his residence in Powai on Saturday afternoon.

 A senior police officer, who may be questioned in connection with the murder of veteran journalist J Dey, was transferred yesterday. Assistant Commissioner of Police Anil Mahabole was shunted to the Local Arms Control Room in Naigaon. He was in-charge of Azad Maidan division in south Mumbai. Meanwhile, after rejection of demand for CBI's probe into this case by the Maharashtra government, journalists under the banner of Patrakar Halla Virodhi Kruti Samiti have decided to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Union home minister P Chidambaram in Delhi seeking intervention in the case.  The West Bengal government will introduce a bill in the State Assembly today seeking to revoke the Singur lease agreement with the Tatas and take back the land leased to them. This was disclosed by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Manoj Chakraborty while talking to reporters after an all-party meeting in Kolkata yesterday.
 Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that her government is committed to return the 400 acres of land to unwilling farmers and keep the remaining nearly 600 acre for industry.

 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha will meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in New Delhi today. Official sources say, she is expected to discuss developmental projects in Tamil Nadu and the issue of rehabilitation of Tamils in Sri Lanka when she meets Dr Singh. Our correspondent quoting sources reports, she could also meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi. It is her first visit to New Delhi after assuming office as chief minister on 16th of last month.

 The Assam Government has decided to implement the Right to Education Act in the state from the current academic year. This was disclosed by State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma in Guwahati yesterday. State government will open four more Universities and 12 new Government colleges for the purpose. Similarly, the number of primary, middle and higher secondary level schools will be increased to cover each and every village.  Dr Sharma said, recruitment of 31 thousand primary and middle school teachers will be completed within the next four months.

 In Maharashtra, a special court in Pune yesterday sentenced kingpin in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam Abdul Karim Telgi to 10 years imprisonment in one of the many cases filed against him. Special CBI prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said that the sentence will have to be served by Telgi consecutively, after he serves the earlier sentences. He said that Telgi will have to be in jail for 10 more years. 50-year-old Telgi is currently serving jail term in Bangalore. The court has also fined Telgi 17 lakh rupees.

 The government expects to achieve a record rice production of 102 million tones in the July 2011 to June 2012 crop year. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Agriculture Secretary P K Basu said, this year, the starting of monsoon rain has been good. Mr Basu expressed confidence that if this kind of rain continues, the country's rice production will touch 102 million tones. He said, the progress of southwest monsoon and its spread across the country is perfect till date. Mr Basu hoped that the area under paddy and other Kharif crops will be better than last year.

 India and the World Bank will sign an agreement today for cleaning the GangaRiver, which is facing great challenges from expanding population, urbanisation and industrial growth. The Environment Ministry issued a statement in New Delhiyesterday in which it said that the National Ganga River Basin Project to be implemented with the World Bank assistance will cost Rs 7,000 crore. Out of this amount, the Centre's share will be Rs 5,100 crore and that of the five state governments (Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal) will be Rs 1,900 crore.

भारत और श्रीलंका के बीच लगभग तीस साल बाद फेरी और नौका सेवा फिर शुरू हो गई है। तुतिकोरन से दो सौ यात्रियों को लेकर रवाना हुआ जहाज स्कोटिया प्रिंस आज तड़के कोलंबो पहुंचा। श्रीलंका में भारत के उच्चायुक्त अशोक के० कांत तथा श्रीलंका के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी इसके आगमन के समय बन्दरगाह पर मौजूद थे।
हमारी संवाददाता ने बताया है कि इस लग्जरी जहाज में एक हजार से अधिक लोग यात्रा कर सकते हैं। समुद्री जहाज, विमान की तुलना में यात्रियों के लिए सस्ता विकल्प है और इसमें प्रत्येक यात्री को १०० किलोग्राम तक सामान ले जाने की अनुमति होती है।

लगभग तीनदशक बाद दोनों पड़ौसी देशों के बीच नौका सेवाओं की एक बार फिर से शुरूआत है। उत्तरी श्रीलंका में जातीय हिंसा के कारण १९८३ के बाद नौका सेवाएं बंद कर दी गयीं थीं। पिछले साल प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह और श्रीलंकाई राष्ट्रपति महेन्दा राजपक्षे की संयुक्त घोषणा के बाद दोनों देशों के बीच नौका सेवाओं को फिर से शुरू किया गया है। ताकि दोनों मुल्कों की जनता को यात्रा के लिए एक और सस्ता विकल्प मिल जाए। स्कोटिया प्रिंस की तुतिकोरन और कोलम्बियो की इसी हफ्ते में दो बार रवानगी होगी। इस लक्जरी लाइनर में लगभग एक हजार यात्री यात्रा कर सकते हैं। दोनों बंदरगाहों की दूरी लगभग १२ घंटे में तय की जाएगी। भविष्य में रामेश्वरम और तलाईमनाल से भी ऐसी ही नौका सेवाओं की शुरूआत की होने की उम्मीद की जा रही है। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए कोलम्बो से कंचन प्रसाद।

तमिलनाडु की मुख्यमंत्री जयललिता ने आज नई दिल्ली में प्रधानमंत्री डाक्टर मनमोहन सिंह से मुलाकात की। उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री को एक विस्तृत ज्ञापन दिया जिसमें श्रीलंका में तमिलों के खिलाफ कथित युद्ध अपराध मछुआरों के लिए विशेष पैकेज और राज्य को केन्द्रीय सहायता बढ़ाने सहित विभिन्न मुद्दे शामिल हैं। उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री से अनुरोध किया कि तमिलनाडु के विधायकों के श्रीलंका जाने की व्यवस्था की जाये।

मैंने प्रधानमंत्री से अनुरोध किया है कि तमिलनाडु के विधायकों का एक शिष्टमंडल श्रीलंका भेजने की व्यवस्था की जाए ताकि वो खुद देख सके कि वहां तमिल लोग कैसी परिस्थितियों में रह रहे हैं।
सुश्री जयललिता ने बाद में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में टू जी स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले में कपड़ा मंत्री दयानिधि मारन के खिलाफ आरोपों के मद्देनजर केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल से हटाने की मांग की। सुश्री जयललिता ने कहा कि पूरा देश भ्रष्टाचार के मुद्दे को लेकर चिन्तित है और उच्चतम न्यायालय इससे निपटने में सक्रिय भूमिका निभा रहा है। केन्द्र सरकार को ऑल इंडिया अन्ना डी एम के पार्टी के समर्थन के मुद्दे पर उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस अब भी डी एम के पार्टी के साथ गठबंधन में है इसलिए केन्द्र के साथ इस तरह के किसी गठजोड़ का प्रश्न ही नहीं है।

मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त एस वाई कुरैशी ने कहा है कि चुनावों के लिए उद्योग जगत द्वारा दिए जाने वाले धन की प्रक्रिया पारदर्शी होनी चाहिए और चुनाव फंड का लेखा परीक्षण होना चाहिए। श्री कुरैशी ने मुम्बई में उद्योग जगत के लोगों के साथ बैठक में यह बात कही। इस बैठक का आयोजन भारतीय उद्योग संघ ने किया। संघ ने मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त को चुनाव सुधारों के बारे में एक ज्ञापन भी दिया। श्री कुरैशी ने कहा कि काले धन का एक मुख्य कारण राजनीतिक दलों को उद्योग जगत द्वारा नकद दान दिया जाना है। उन्होंने उद्योगपत्तियों से अपनी सामाजिक जिम्मेदारी स्वीकार करने को कहा। श्री कुरैशी ने कहा कि उद्योगपत्तियों को विज्ञापनों के माध्यम से भी सामाजिक मुद्दे उठाने चाहिए। उन्होंने औद्योगिक घरानों से मतदान के लिए अपने कर्मचारियों को पूरे दिन की छुट्टी देने का आग्रह भी किया।

उत्तरप्रदेश के लखीमपुर खीरी के एक थाने में कुछ पुलिसकर्मियों द्वारा एक लड़की की हत्या की जांच के लिए राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग का दो सदस्यीय दल वहां पहुंच गया है। इस दल में वरिष्ठ आई पी एस अधिकारी पी एस राव और अनिल शर्मा शामिल हैं। इस दल को दो-तीन दिन में अपनी रिपोर्ट देने को कहा गया है।

राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार की टीम ने मारी गयी लड़की के माता पिता का बयान दर्ज कर अपनी जांच शुरू कर दी है। आयोग ने राज्य के पुलिस महानिदेशक को नोटिस जारी कर चार से पांच दिन के भीतर अपनी रिपोर्ट देने को कहा है। राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग और राष्ट्रीय अनुसूचित जाति और जनजाति की टीमें भी मामले की जांच के लिए पहुंचने वाली हैं। शव विच्छेदन की दूसरी रिपोर्ट के हवाले से पुलिस ने लड़की की हत्या की बात स्वीकार कर ली है। पहला शव विच्छेदन करने वाले तीनों चिकित्सकों का निलंबन कर दिया गया है। सरकार ने कहा है कि उनकी आरोपियों के साथ सांठगांठ पाए जाने पर आपराधिक मामला दर्ज किया जाएगा। विपक्षी दलों ने पूरे मामले की सीबीआई जांच कराने की मांग की है। भारतीय जनता पार्टी के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष सूर्यप्रताप साही ने बलात्कार के आरोप की पुष्टि के लिए न्यायिक देखरेख में तीसरा शव विच्छेदन कराने की मांग की है। राज्य कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष रीता बहुगुणा जोशी और स्थानीय कांग्रेस सांसद जफर गिलानी ने राज्यपाल से मिलकर सीबीआई जांच की मांग की है। इस बीच सत्तारूढ़ बहुजन समाज पार्टी के प्रवक्ता ने विपक्षी दलों पर घटना का राजनैतिक फायदा उठाने की कोशिश करने का आरोप लगाया है। सुनील शुक्ल, आकाशवाणी समाचार, लखनऊ।

मणिपुर में गैर कानूनी संगठन पीपुल्स युनाइटेड लिबरेशन फ्रंट-पी यू एल एफ उमर फारूख गुट ने आज सरकार के सामने सामुहिक रूप से अपने हथियार डाल दिये। इम्फाल मे असम राइफल्स के इंस्पेक्टर जनरल के दक्षिण मुख्यालय में आयोजित समारोह में पी यू एल एफ के सरगना उमर फारूख और महासचिव बिलाल खान सहित संगठन के ४१ सदस्यों ने समर्पण कर दिया और राष्ट्र की मुख्य धारा में शामिल होने की घोषणा की।

प्रधानमंत्री की आर्थिक सलाहकार परिषद के अध्यक्ष सी रंगराजन ने कहा है कि २००११-१२ में देश की आर्थिक विकास दर करीब साढे आठ प्रतिशत रहने की उम्मीद है जो बजट में दर्शाए गए अनुमान से कम है। नई दिल्ली में आर्थिक सहयोग और विकास संगठन के एक कार्यक्रम में श्री रंगराजन ने विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि देश में मध्यम अवधि में सकल घरेलू उत्पाद की विकास दर नौ प्रतिशत करने की क्षमता है।
वित्तमंत्री प्रणव मुखर्जी ने अपने बजट भाषण में २०११-१२ में आर्थिक विकास दर नौ प्रतिशत रहने का अनुमान व्यक्त किया था। लेकिन रिजर्व बैंक ने मई में अपनी मौद्रिक नीति में कहा था कि इस वर्ष विकास दर आठ प्रतिशत के आसपास रहेगी।

मुद्रास्फीति की दर पिछले महीने कुछ बढ़कर नौ दशमलव शून्य-छह प्रतिशत हो गई जो इससे पहले के महीने में आठ दशमलव छह छह प्रतिशत थी। पिछले वर्ष की इसी अवधि में यह दर दस दशमलव चार-आठ प्रतिशत थी। वार्षिक आधार पर विनिर्मित वस्तुओं के दाम नौ दशमलव दो-सात प्रतिशत बढ़े। ईधन और बिजली की कीमतों में १२ दशमलव तीन-दो प्रतिशत वृद्धि हुई जबकि खाद्य पदार्थों की कीमतें आठ दशमलव तीन-सात प्रतिशत बढ़ी।
भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने पिछले महीने जारी अपनी मौद्रिक नीति में कहा था कि दुनिया में विभिन्न वस्तुओं विशेष रूप से तेल की कीमतों में लगातार वृद्धि मुद्रास्फीति की दर को प्रभावित करेगी। रिजर्व बैंक ने २०११-१२ के पहले छह महीनों में मुद्रास्फीति की दर औसतन नौ प्रतिशत रहने का अनुमान लगाया है जो इस वर्ष की समाप्ति तक छह प्रतिशत के आसपास रह जायेगी।

सरकारी तेल कंपनियों को निर्देश दिया गया है कि वे एयर इंडिया की जरूरत को पूरा करने के लिए उसे तीन महीने तक ईंधन उपलब्ध कराएं ताकि वह अपना कामकाज सामान्य ढंग से कर सके। विभिन्न तेल कंपनियों ने बकाया राशि का भुगतान न होने के कारण एयर इंडिया को ईंधन की आपूर्ति घटा दी है। यह फैसला नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्री वायलार रवि और पेट्रोलियम मंत्री एस जयपाल रेड्डी के बीच हुई बैठक में लिया गया।
हमारे संवाददाता ने सूत्रों के हवाले से बताया है कि इस बैठक में श्री वायलार रवि ने श्री रेड्डी से आग्रह किया कि तेल कंपनियों को एयर इंडिया को विमान ईंधन उपलब्ध कराने का निर्देश दें ताकि वह अपनी रद्द की गयी उड़ानें फिर से शुरु कर सके। बैठक में तेल कंपनियों तथा एयर इंडिया के मुख्य प्रबंध निदेशक और पेट्रोलियम मंत्रालय तथा नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्रालय के सचिवों ने भाग लिया।

बम्बई शेयर बाजार के सेन्सेक्स में आज शुरूआती कारोबार में ६७ अंक की वृद्धि हुई। शेयरों की ताजा लिवाली और एशियाई बाजारों में बढ़त का रूख है।अब से कुछ देर पहले सेन्सेक्स ४१ अंक की वृद्धि के साथ १८ हजार ३०७पर था।

भारत, पाकिस्तान के विदेश सचिव के साथ होने वाली बातचीत में पाकिस्तानी खुफिया एजेंसी आईएसआई और मुम्बई आतंकी हमले के षडयंत्रकारियों के बीच सांठगांठ का मामला उठायेगा। नई दिल्ली में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में विदेश मंत्री एस. एम. कृष्णा ने कहा कि इस बैठक में द्विपक्षीय मामलों पर चर्चा होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि शिकागो की अदालत में आतंकवादी तहव्वुर राना के मुकदमे से पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ अहम सबूत, आकलन और हलफिया बयान मिले हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि राना ने आईएसआई और मुम्बई आतंकी हमले के षडयंत्रकारियों के बीच सांठगांठ का जिक्र किया है और यह मामला इस महीने के आखिर में होने वाली बैठक में उठाया जाएगा। ये पूछे जाने पर कि क्या सरकार अमरीका से राना को मुम्बई आतंकी हमले में बरी किये जाने के फैसले के खिलाफ ऊपरी अदालत में अपील करने का अनुरोध करेगी। श्री कृष्णा ने कहा कि भारत सरकार किसी देश की अंदरूनी कानूनी प्रक्रिया में दखल देने में यकीन नहीं रखती।
चीन द्वारा ब्रह्‌मपुत्र नदी की धारा मोड़ने के मसले पर श्री कृष्णा ने कहा कि सरकार ने पेइचिंग में भारतीय दूतावास से इस बारे में रिपोर्ट मांगी है। उन्होंने कहा कि दूतावास से इस बारे में ब्यौरा मिलने के बाद उचित राजनयिक कदम उठाए जाएंगे।

पाकिस्तानी सेना ने अर्द्धसैनिक बल रेंजर्स के प्रमुख को सार्वजनिक स्थान पर एक निहत्थे व्यक्ति की हत्या के मामले में पद से हटा दिया हैं। इस बर्बर कांड की तस्वीरें देखकर समूचा राष्ट्र स्तब्ध रह गया था । रेजर्स के जवानो ने कराची के एक पार्क में पिछले सप्ताह लूटपाट के एक आरोपी २२ वर्षीय सरफराज शाह को यातनाए दी और बाद में उसे गोली मार दी। इस पूरी घटना की फिल्म प्रसारित होने के बाद पाकिस्तान के सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने रेंजर्स प्रमुख मेजर जनरल एजाज चौधरी को पद से हटाने का निर्देश दिया था। जनरल चौधरी सिंध सूबे में पाकिस्तान रेंजर्स के महानिदेशक थे।

नेपाल में, भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक राष्ट्रीय संस्था ने सरकार को निर्देश दिया है कि निर्धारित बजट राशि का इस्तेमाल दूसरे कामों के लिए न किया जाए। प्रधानमंत्री, केबिनेट सचिवालय, राष्ट्रीय योजना आयोग और छह मंत्रालयों को भेजे गये एक पत्र में कहा गया है कि बजट राशि का दूसरे कामों के लिए मनमाने ढंग से किया गया इस्तेमाल वित्तीय अनुशासन के खिलाफ होगा। यह निर्देश निर्धारित बजट राशि को दूसरे कामों पर खर्च किये जाने के खिलाफ विपक्षी दल नेपाली कांग्रेस की शिकायत को देखते हुए जारी किया गया है।

विदेशी पर्यटक इस वर्ष जुलाई के अंत तक तिब्बत नहीं जा सकेंगे। विदेशी पर्यटकों पर इस वर्ष दूसरी बार इस तरह का प्रतिबंध लगाया गया है। क्षेत्रीय राजधानी ल्हासा में चीन की ट्रेवल सर्विस ने बताया कि उन्हें एक नोटिस मिला है जिसके तहत २६ जुलाई तक विदेशी पर्यटकों पर प्रतिबंध लागू किया गया है। तिब्बत यूथ ट्रेवल सर्विस एजेंसी ने इस प्रतिबंध की पुष्टि करते हुए बताया कि तिब्बत पर चीन के शासन की ६०वीं वर्षगांठ के सिलसिले में अगले महीने होने वाले कार्यक्रमों को देखते हुए यह पाबंदी लागू की गई है। ग्लोबल टाइम्स समाचार-पत्र ने ल्हासा में आधिकारिक सूत्रों के हवाले से कहा है कि विदेशी पासपोर्ट वाले पर्यटकों को सुरक्षा कारणों से अगस्त के मध्य तक तिब्बत नहीं भेजा जाएगा, हालांकि तिब्बत सरकार के प्रवक्ता ने कहा है कि उन्हें इस बारे में कोई जानकारी नही है।

इंडोनेशिया के सुलावेसी द्वीप में कल रात जबरदस्त भूकम्प आया। रिक्टर पैमाने पर इसे छह दशमलव दो मापा गया। जानमाल के नुकसान की फिलहाल कोई खबर नहीं है और न ही त्सुनामी आने की चेतावनी दी गयी है।
आज सुबह सुमात्रा में भी पांच दशमलव पांच तीव्रता के भूकंप के झटके महसूस किये गये। यहां से भी जानमाल के नुकसान की कोई खबर नहीं है।

चीन में पिछले दस दिनों के दौरान भारी वर्षा से उत्पन्न बाढ़ और भूस्खलन की घटनाओं में १०५ लोगों की मृत्यु हो चुकी है और ६३ लोग लापता हैं। मध्य चीन के हुनान और हुबेई प्रांतों को बाढ़ और भूस्खलन से भारी नुकसान पहुंचा है। हुनान में ३९ और हुबेई प्रांत में २९ लोग मारे गये हैं और दस लापता हैं। अगले कुछ दिनों में मध्य और दक्षिणी चीन में भारी वर्षा की संभावना को देखते हुए आपातकालीन बंदोबस्त किये जा रहे हैं। राहत सामग्री की आपूर्ति का प्रबंध किया जा रहा है।

चिली के ज्वालामुखी से निकली राख के बादलों के कारण ऑस्ट्रेलिया की बहुत सी विमानन कंपनियों द्वारा उड़ानें रद्द करने से ऑस्ट्रेलिया में आज तीसरे दिन भी हजारों यात्री फंसे हुए हैं। कन्टास और जेटस्टार ने मेलबर्न के लिए रद्द की गई अपनी उड़ानें बहाल कर दी हैं, लेकिन तस्मानिया द्वीप, एडिलेड और न्यूजीलैंड के लिए उसकी सेवाएं आज भी स्थगित हैं। टाइगर एयरवेज ने एडिलेड और मेलबर्न तथा पर्थ और मेलबर्न के बीच सेवाएं रद्द कर दी हैं।

दक्षिण-पश्चिम मॉनसून ओडीशा में प्रवेश कर गया है और अगले दो दिनों में उसके पूरे राज्य पहुंच जाने की संभावना है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी हैं कि राजधानी भुवनेश्वर सहित अनेक तटवर्ती और दक्षिणी जिलों में भारी वर्षा हुई है।
उड़ीसा में दक्षिण-पश्चिम मानसून के आने से लोगों को तेज गर्मी से राहत की सांस मिली है। मानसून चलते कटक, पुरी, गंजाम , गजापति ख्ुार्दा , नवरंगपुर, संबलपुर और राज्य के कई अन्य इलाकों में भारी बारिश होने की खबर है। बंगाल की खाड़ी में उड़ीसा के तट के निकट निम्न दाब बनने से अगले २४ घंटे में तटीय उड़ीसा अध्येन्तरी उड़ीसा में भारी बारिश होने की संभावना जतायी गयी है। इसके साथ ४५ से ५५ किलोमीटर प्रति घंटा हवा चलने की संभावना है। मछुआरों को समुंद्र के अंदर जाने से मना किया गया है। इस बीच कल हुई बारिश से उड़ीसा के बिजली गिरने से ६ लोगों के मारे जाने के साथ कई लोगों के घायल होने की खबर है। उड़ीसा सरकार ने मरने वालों के परिवार को पचास हजार रूपये का मुआवजा की घोषणा की है। प्रकाश दास, आकाशवाणी समाचार, भुवनेश्वर।

उत्तरप्रदेश में अधिकतम तापमान में दो से तीन डिग्री सेल्सियस की वृद्धि हुई है। मौसम विभाग के अनुसार राज्य के दक्षिण-पश्चिम भागों के ऊपरी वायु क्षेत्र में तूफानी स्थिति बन गई है। हमारे गोरखपुर संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि पूर्वी उत्तरप्रदेश में बादल छाए हुए हैं।
पूर्वी उत्तर प्रदेश के अधिकांश हिस्सों में आसमान में बादल हैं जिससे इन हिस्सों में बारिश के आसार बन रहे हैं। बुंदेलखण्ड और विंध्याचल क्षेत्रों में आसमान में चक्रवाती हवा का दबाव बन रहा है जिसकी वजह से इन क्षेत्रों में आंधी आ सकती है। इस बीच प्रदेश के विभिन्न भागों में पिछले ४८ घंटों में आई आंधी से जान और माल का नुकसान हुआ है। पूर्वी उत्तर प्रदेश में तीन लोगों और मेरठ में एक महिला की आंधी और वर्षा से जुड़े हादसों में मौत हो गयी है। मौसम विभाग ने प्रदेश के कुछ मंडलों में अगले २४ घंटों के दौरान गरज, चमक के साथ छींटे पड़ने की संभावना व्यक्त की है। सलमान हैदर, आकाशवाणी समाचार, गोरखपुर।

केरल में आज आधी रात से डेढ़ महीने के लिए मशीनी नावों से मछली पकड़ने पर रोक लग जाएगी। इस अवधि में चार हजार से अधिक ट्रॉलरों से मछली पकड़ने का काम नहीं लिया जा सकेगा। १९८८ से हर वर्ष इस प्रकार का प्रतिबंध लगाया जाता है। इसका उद्देश्य अरब सागर में मछलियों का संरक्षण और प्रजनन सुनिश्चित करना है। राज्य सरकार ने घोषणा की है कि इस अवधि में जो मछुआरे बेकार हो जाएंगे, उन्हें मुफ्‌त राशन और वित्तीय सहायता उपलब्ध कराई जाएगी।

महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री पृथ्वीराज चव्हाण ने कहा है कि मुम्बई पुलिस को कम नहीं आंका जाना चाहिए और उसे पत्रकार ज्योर्तिमय डे की हत्या की जांच का पूरा मौका दिया जाना चाहिए। श्री चव्हाण मुम्बई में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत कर रहे थे। उन्होंने कहा कि मुम्बई पुलिस इस मामले की तह तक जायेगी और पुलिस को मामले की जांच के लिए कुछ समय दिया जाना चाहिए। श्री चव्हाण ने कहा कि कल उन्होंने पुलिस के कुछ वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक की थी जिसमें अधिकारियों ने बताया कि जांच का काम चल रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि कल रात उन्हें पता लगा कि मामले में कुछ और प्रगति हुई है और पुलिस को जल्दी ही अपराधियों को पकड़ लेने की उम्मीद है। पत्रकार ज्योर्तिमय डे की शनिवार को पवई में उनके निवास के बाहर मोटर साइकिलों पर सवार चार अज्ञात हत्यारों ने गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी थी।

महाराष्ट्र में पुणे की एक विशेष अदालत ने करोड़ों रुपये के फर्जी स्टाम्प पेपर घोटाले के सरगना अब्दुल करीम तेलगी को एक मुकदमे में १० साल की कैद की सजा सुनाई है। उसके खिलाफ कई मुकदमे दर्ज हैं।
सीबीआई के विशेष वकील प्रदीप घराट ने बताया कि तेलगी को यह सजा पहले की सजाएं पूरी होने के बाद अलग से काटनी होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि तेलगी को दस साल तक और जेल में रहना होगा।
पचास वर्षीय तेलगी इस समय बंगलौर की जेल में है। यह मामला मुम्बई के उपनगर मुलुंद इलाके में राजगड जायसवाल और अवधेश तिवारी नाम के दो व्यक्तियों की गिरफ्‌तारी का है। वे दोनों एक अधिकृत स्टाम्प विक्रेता कंचन भोंगाले के नाम पर कथित रूप से फर्जी स्टाम्प बेच रहे थे। इस मामले में तेलगी सहित दस लोगों को आरोपी बनाया गया था।
श्री घराट ने बताया कि तेलगी को भारतीय दंड संहिता की विभिन्न धाराओं के तहत दस साल और महाराष्ट्र संगठित अपराध नियंत्रण कानून-मकोका के तहत पांच साल की सजा सुनाई गयी है। अदालत ने तेलगी पर १७ लाख रूपए का जुर्माना भी लगाया। तेलगी को विभिन्न राज्यों में फैले फर्जी स्टाम्प पेपर घोटाले के कई मामलों में दोषी पाया गया है। यह घोटाला वर्ष २००२ में सामने आया था।

असम सरकार ने वर्तमान शैक्षिक सत्र से राज्य में शिक्षा का अधिकार कानून लागू करने का फैसला किया है। राज्य सरकार इसके लिए चार अतिरिक्त विश्वविद्यालय और १२ नये सरकारी कॉलेज खोलेगी। इसी तरह प्राथमिक, माध्यमिक और उच्चतर माध्यमिक स्कूलों की संख्या बढ़ाई जाएगी, ताकि हरेक गांव में स्कूल खुल सके। राज्य के शिक्षामंत्री डॉक्टर हेमंत विश्व शर्मा ने बताया कि प्राथमिक और माध्यमिक स्कूलों के ३१ हजार शिक्षकों की भर्ती की प्रक्रिया चार महीने में पूरी कर ली जाएगी।

           India and Sri Lanka have resumed the passenger ferry service between the two countries after a gap of nearly 30 years. Our correspondent reports The ferry service will improve cultural tourism and business relations between the two countries. 
            Scotia Prince on her maiden voyage docked at the capital city harbour today with around 200 passengers on board after 12 hours of journey. Following the Joint Declaration last year between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the two governments decided to renew the ferry services between the two countries as an alternative and a cheaper mode of travel. Set to sail twice a week from either destination, Scotia Prince, the luxury liner, has a restaurant, casino, a bar and a duty free shop which is yet to get operational, and has a capacity of more than 1000 people, with each passenger being allowed 100kgs of luggage.            Tamil Nadu Chief  Minister Ms. Jayalalithaa met the Prime Minister in New Delhi today. She submitted a detailed memorandum containing issues ranging from  the alleged war crimes against Tamils in Sri Lanka to special package for fishermen and enhanced central allocations to the state. 
          Later briefing the media , she demanded  the Prime Minister to drop Textile Minister Dayanidhi Maran from the Cabinet in view of charges leveled against him in the 2 G Spectrum scam. Ms. Jayalalithaa  said that the whole country is concerned about the issue of corruption and the Supreme Court is playing an active role in tackling the menace.  On the issue of AIADMK's support to Central Government, she said, Congress is still  in alliance with the DMK, so there is no question of any realignment at the centre.

           Slovenia has sought to boost economic relations  with India.  Talking to newsmen in New Delhi this morning, the visiting Slovenian Prime Minister Mr Borut Pahor said that he is looking for investment opportunities in India and vice versa. The visiting dignitary arrived in Mumbai yesterday on a four day state visit to India. He is leading a business delegation, comprising forty Slovenian companies. Several agreements are to be signed in various sectors following the delegation level talks with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh this evening.            Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council Chairman C Rangarajan today said India's economic growth in the 2011-12 fiscal is likely to be about 8.5 per cent, lower than the Budget projection. Speaking  at an Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) event in New Delhi, Mr Rangarajan however, exuded confidence that India has the potential to clock GDP growth of 9 per cent in the medium term. In his Budget speech, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had pegged economic growth for 2011-12 at 9 per cent.  However, the Reserve Bank, in its monetary policy in May, said that GDP growth during 2011-12 would be only around 8 per cent. Mr Mukherjee, also said yesterday that the growth drivers of the country were intact, as the government aims at GDP growth of 9-9.5 per cent during the twelfth Five-Year Plan, starting April, 2012.

           Union Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi has emphasized the need of pooling resources and sharing technical know-how and experiences to tackle the challenges of terrorism in the aviation sector. After inaugurating the 8th steering committee meeting of Cooperative Aviation Security Programme,  C A S P of Asia Pacific in New Delhi today, Mr. Vaylar Ravi said the capacity building and sharing of various training programmes among the member countries of C A S P is a need of the hour. He said the assistance is provided to CASP member countries  on drafting, amendment or review of national legislation and regulations on aviation security. Mr. Ravi said India is celebrating 100 years of its Civil Aviation and is committed to the development of the aviation sector. On this occasion, Civil Aviation Secretary Dr. Nasim Zaidi took over the Chairmanship of CASP for a period of one year.

           External Affairs Minister S M Krishna today left for Astana to attend the 11th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. The summit of the Shanghai Cooperation organisation (SCO) is expected to spell out the Memorandum of Obligations that the new applicant members need to fulfill to become full members. Our correspondent reports, India is very keen to play a larger role in the SCO. India is also looking forward for cooperation in the areas of counter-terrorism and economic development of the region besides focusing on improving transport corridors among member nations. Founded on June the 15th, 2001, the SCO comprises China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. India, Pakistan, Iran and Mongolia are currently observers in the SCO which is now in the process of finalising rules for taking in new members.

           The Kerala High Court today upheld a CBI Special Court order, sentencing former IG of Police, K Lakshmana to life imprisonment  in connection with the murder of Varghese, a naxalite. Varghese was shot dead by the police in February 1970 at Thirunelli forests in Wynad district of Kerala. A Division Bench comprising Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and Justice S S Satheesachandran also upheld the CBI Court verdict acquitting former DGP P Vijayan in  the case.

           The Jharkhand High Court has issued notice to the Central government over appointing civil society activists as members of the drafting committee of the proposed Lokpal bill.The notice was issued by the Chief Justice P.C. Tatia while hearing a public interest litigation filed by Chandrashekhar Pandey who argued that inclusion of civil society members in the committee violated the constitution. The next hearing will take place on the 20th of June. The central government has appointed a 10-member committee which includes five ministers and five members of the civil society led by civil society activist Anna Hazare.

           State-run oil companies were  directed to meet the Air India's fuel requirements for three months to allow it to restore its operations fully. Oil companies had restricted fuel supply to it over non-payment of dues. The decision came following the intervention of Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi who met Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy yesterday to sort out the issue. Our correspondent quoting sources reports, in the meeting, Mr Ravi asked Mr Reddy to direct the oil marketing companies to provide aviation turbine fuel to Air India so that the national carrier can restore its cancelled or curtailed flights.

             There should be transparency in corporate funding of elections and audit of election funds. This was stated by Chief Election Commissioner Mr S Y Qureshi in Mumbai  at a meeting with people from the corporate world. The meeting was organised by the Association of Indian Industries, which submitted a memorandum to the Chief Election Commissioner on election reforms. Mr Qureshi pointed out that one of the root causes of black money is cash donations to political parties from corporates. He also urged corporates to accept social responsibility.
Mr Qureshi spoke about the need for corporate firms to rally for social causes through the medium of advertising. He urged corporate houses to give employees a full day holiday on voting day.

            In West Bengal, a bill was presented in the State Assembly today to hand over 400 acres of land at Singur to unwilling farmers in the compound where Tata's were to build Nano cars.  The bill has been taken up for discussion and will be discussed till 3 in the afternoon. It is expected that the bill will be passed today itself without difficulty as the West Bengal state government has the requisite numbers in their favour.

           Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has accepted the rejection of his nuclear power plans and other policies in a popular referendum. He said the Italian people had made their opinion clear and government and parliament must now respond fully. Mr Berlusconi had wanted to restart nuclear plants shut in the 1980s. Official results of the referendum released today showed that nearly 95 percent of those who turned out rejected plans to return to nuclear power.           Pakistan military today removed the chief of the paramilitary Rangers over the killing of an unarmed man in a public park.  The brutal killing, which was filmed, had shocked the nation. Security forces shot dead Sarfaraz Shah, 22, in a Karachi park last week for alleged robbery. His family insisted that he was innocent. The removal comes in the wake of a supreme court directive.  The military in a statement said in compliance with supreme courts orders Major General Aijaz Chaudhary, Director General Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) has been posted out.

           In Afghanistan, a gunman who shot dead 42 people in a bank in the eastern city of Jalalabad in February has been sentenced to death. Court officials said Zar Ajam, a Pakistani, has been given the death penalty along with his Afghan facilitator Matiullah. The attack was one of the most brutal Taliban attacks in nearly 10 years of war in Afghanistan. President Hamid Karzai must confirm the death sentence. But the Afghan leader has already said Ajam should hang for his crime.

           Thousands of airline passengers endured a third day of delays in Australia today as the ash cloud from Chile's volcanic eruptions kept planes grounded. Qantas and Jetstar lifted a ban on flights to and from Melbourne but services by the two airlines in and out of the southern island of Tasmania, to and from Adelaide and New Zealand were cancelled for the day. Tiger Airways cancelled services between Adelaide and Melbourne and Perth and Melbourne.  Air New Zealand's domestic and trans-Tasman flights  continue to operate to schedule. Air New Zealand said that almost all other carriers with services to New Zealand were operating, including Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific and Korean Air. The eruption of the Puyehue volcano, high in the Andes, has spewed ash that has disrupted air travel on a large scale. Flights across South America have been hit, with strong winds carrying the ash more than half way around the world.

           A long dormant volcano has erupted in Eritrea, spewing a huge ash cloud across the Horn of Africa and threatening air travel. The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center, which monitors volcanos for the aviation industry, says the Dubbi volcano began erupting late Sunday. Germany's Lufthansa said it cancelled a flight out of the Eritrean capital, Asmara, and a flight into Addis Ababa from Frankfurt. U.S. officials said they had been told Ethiopia was considering shutting down Addis Ababa's main international airport due to the impending ash cloud. Satellite images suggest Sudanese airspace could also be impacted.

           In New Zealand, aftershocks continued to rattle Christchurch today, as authorities said an elderly man died when series of powerful tremors hit the city a day earlier. The number of people injured was also revised upward from 10 to 45, two of whom remained in Christchurch Hospital. The city, still recovering from a 6.3-magnitude quake in February that killed 181 people, endured more that 50 aftershocks yesterday, the strongest a 6.0 tremor that toppled already-weakened buildings. Prime Minister John Key is expected to inspect the latest damage today.

           A strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Indonesia's Sulawesi island last night. The US Geological Survey said the undersea quake struck at a relatively shallow depth of 13 kilometres around 211 kilometeres east of Manado  at 10:31 pm (local time). However there were no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued. A moderate quake measuring 5.5 on Richter scale struck off Sumatra island of Indonesia this morning. The country's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said the quake jolted at 07: 08 a.m. Jakarta time with epicenter 30 kilometres southeast of Tarutung of North Sumatra and with a depth 10 kilometeres. There have so far been no reports of casualties or property damage.

           In China, rain-triggered flooding and landslides  have left 105 people dead and 63  missing over the past 10 days. According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, central China's Hunan and Hubei provinces are among the worst hit areas. It said, 39 people were killed in Hunan, while in neighboring Hubei province, rain-triggered disaster have left 29 people dead and 10 others missing.       The ministry said, heavy floods left more than 200 children stranded at the Matou Primary School in Hubei, who had to be moved to safety until the flood receded. The authorities have launched an emergency response in anticipation of more downpours in central and southern China over the next few days. Relief-supply reserve stations in 11 provinces and seven cities have been set up to prepare for the expected downpours.

           The International Monetary Fund has shortlisted two candidates to take over as its Managing Director. French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde and Governor of the Bank of Mexico Agustin Carstens will fight it out for the top job. The fund in an announcement last night said the Executive Board will meet with the candidates in Washington DC and, thereafter, meet to discuss the strengths of the candidates and make a selection. The IMF said it expects to complete the selection process by 30 June. The post became available after the former head of the IMF Dominique Strauss-Kahn resigned. Mr Strauss-Kahn was arrested in the US last month on charges of an alleged sexual assault. He has denied the charges.

           In Nepal, the national anti graft body has directed the government not to divert the budget to other heads. The Commission of Investigation of Abuse of Authority in letters to the office of the Prime Minister, Cabinet Secretariat, National Planning Commission , and six other Ministries said arbitrary shifting of budget would be against fiscal discipline. The direction came in response to a complaint filed by the opposition Nepali Congress against the diversion of funds from one government agency to the other.

           The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 84 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 18,350 in opening trade, today, on the back of fresh buying by investors, amid a firm trend on the other key Asian bourses. Later, the Sensex gained more than 100 points. But it then trimmed its gains, to stand a smaller 27 points, or 0.2 percent in positive territory, at 18,293 in afternoon deals, a short while ago. The 30-share BSE index has lost over 220 points in the past four sessions. Other stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, and South Korea were up by between 0.1 percent and 1.3 percent, today, after data from China showed some positive signals on the Chinese economy.

           The rupee strengthened 8 paise, to 44.78 rupees per dollar, in opening trade on the Inter-bank Foreign Exchange, today. The rupee rose on dollar weakness against the euro and other Asian currencies, and a higher opening of the stock market. The rupee had depreciated by 14 paise, to close at a nearly a two-week low of 44.86 against the dollar, in yesterday's trade.

           In Manipur, the proscribed People’s United Liberation Front (PULF)- Umar Farooq faction has surrendered en-masse to Government today with a lot of arms and ammunition. In a home coming ceremony held at the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR)-South Headquarters at Imphal ,41 cadres of the outfit led by its Chairman Umar Farooq and General Secretary, Bilal Khan laid down arms to join the national mainstream.            In Kerala, the one and a half month long ban on trawling by mechanised fishing boats comes into force from midnight tonight. Over 4000 trawlers in the state will remain idle during this period. The annual ban, which started in 1988, is considered to be an important step in sustainable development of fish resources in Arabian Sea. The state government has announced that fishermen who are rendered jobless during this period will be given free ration and financial assistance.

           In Uttar Pradesh, the day’s maximum temperature has risen by two to three degrees Celsius. The weathermen say that upper air cyclonic circulation exists in southwest Uttar Pradesh. केन्द्र ने वामपंथी उग्रवाद की चुनौती का सामना करने में छत्तीसगढ़ और ओड़िशा सरकारों को पूरा समर्थन देने का वायदा किया है। नई दिल्ली में आज एक समीक्षा बैठक में गृह मंत्री पी. चिदम्बरम ने कहा कि नक्सल समस्या से निपटने के लिए केन्द्र ने विकास और पुलिस कार्रवाई की दोतरफा रणनीति बनाई है। उन्होंने कहा कि वामपंथी उग्रवादी गुट लगातार बुनियादी सुविधाओं और व्यापारों को अपना निशाना बना रहे हैं। श्री चिदम्बरम ने कहा कि सुरक्षाबलों ने वामपंथी उग्रवादियों की चुनौती का साहस और संयम से सामना किया है और इस साल १२५ मुठभेड़ों में ७८ उग्रवादियों को मार गिराया है। इस उच्चस्तरीय बैठक में ओड़िशा के मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक और छत्तीसगढ़ के मुख्यमंत्री रमण सिंह भी मौजूद थे। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि ओड़िशा के मुख्यमंत्री ने राज्य के लिए एक हैलिकॉप्टर और सी आर पी एफ की दो बटालियनों की मांग की है।

पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा में सिंगूर भूमि पुनर्वास और विकास विधेयक-२०११, आज पेश किया गया। इस ऐतिहासिक विधेयक के अनुसार नैनो परियोजना के लिए नौ सौ ९७ एकड़ जमीन सरकार के पास है, जिसमें से करीब ४०० एकड़ जमीन किसानों को लौटाई जाएगी।  इन किसानों ने अपनी इस जमीन के लिए सरकार से कोई मुआवजा स्वीकार नहीं किया था।

बहुचर्चित सिंगूर भूमि अधिग्रहण बिल आज पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा में ध्वनि वोट से पारित हो गया। इसके साथ ही सरकार और अनइच्छुक किसानों के बीच रस्सा कसी खत्म हुई। सिंगूर के लोगों ने इस सरकारी कदम का हार्दिक स्वागत किया। मुख्यंमंत्री सुश्री ममता बैनर्जी ने आज फिर एक बार दोहराया कि उनकी सरकार कभी भी जबरन भूमि अधिग्रहण नहीं करेगी। सुदीप बैनर्जी आकाशवाणी समाचार कोलकाता।

 तमिलनाडु की मुख्यमंत्री जयललिता ने आज नई दिल्ली में प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह से मुलाकात की। उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री को एक विस्तृत ज्ञापन दिया ज्ञापन में श्रीलंका में तमिलों के खिलाफ कथित युद्ध अपराध मछुआरों के लिए विशेष पैकेज और राज्य को केन्द्रीय सहायता बढ़ाने सहित विभिन्न मुद्दे शामिल हैं।
श्रीलंका में शिविरों में रह रहे तमिलों की संख्या के बारे में श्रीलंका सरकार और प्राइवेट एजेंसियों के बीच काफी मतभेद है। हमने प्रधानमंत्री से सच्चाई का पता लगाने का अनुरोध किया है और जोर दिया है कि वहां शिविरों में रह रहे तमिलों को अपने घर वापस आने दिया जाये और उनका वहीं पुनर्वास किया जाये।
सुश्री जयललिता ने प्रधानमंत्री से अनुरोध किया कि तमिलनाडु के विधायकों के श्रीलंका जाने की व्यवस्था की जाये।
बाद में सुश्री जयललिता ने टू जी स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले में कपड़ा मंत्री दयानिधि मारन के खिलाफ आरोपों के मद्देनजर केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल से हटाने की मांग की। सुश्री जयललिता ने कहा कि पूरा देश भ्रष्टाचार के मुद्दे को लेकर चिन्तित है और उच्चतम न्यायालय इससे निपटने में सक्रिय भूमिका निभा रहा है। केन्द्र सरकार को ऑल इंडिया अन्ना डी एम के पार्टी के समर्थन के मुद्दे पर उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस अब भी डी एम के पार्टी के साथ गठबंधन में है इसलिए केन्द्र के साथ इस तरह के किसी गठजोड़ का प्रश्न ही नहीं है।

भारत और विश्व बैंक ने देश में ग्रामीण आजीविका और जैव विविधता संरक्षण को मजबूत करने के अलावा गंगा नदी की सफाई के बारे में आज नई दिल्ली में तीन समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किये। गंगा की सफाई के लिए विश्व बैंक एक अरब डॉलर उपलब्ध कराएगा, जबकि शेष दो परियोजनाओं के लिए करीब दो करोड़ चालीस लाख डॉलर का ऋण उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा। इस अवसर पर पर्यावरण तथा वन मंत्री जयराम रमेश ने कहा कि गंगा परियोजना का उद्देश्य २०२० तक गंगा नदी में शहर के अनुपचारित तथा औद्योगिक कचरे के गिरने पर रोक लगाना है।

वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने मुद्रास्फीति को रोकने के लिए आने वाले महीनों में घरेलू और अंतरराष्ट्रीय घटनाओं पर कड़ी नजर रखने और उनके हिसाब से उचित फेरबदल करने पर जोर दिया है। उन्होंने एक सरकारी विज्ञप्ति में कहा है कि मई के लिए मुद्रास्फीति के ताजा आंकड़े चिंताजनक हैं और इन पर गौर करना जरूरी है। उन्होंने कहा कि खाद्य तथा प्राथमिक मुद्रास्फीति में गिरावट आई है, जबकि खाद्य, ईंधन और ऊर्जा की कीमतों में वृद्धि बनी हुई है। आज जारी ताजा आंकड़ों के अनुसार मई महीने में मुद्रास्फीति की समग्र दर अप्रैल की आठ दशमलव छह-छह प्रतिशत से बढ़कर नौ दशमलव शून्य-छह प्रतिशत हो गई है।

सरकार अंतरराष्ट्रीय कच्चे तेल की कीमतों के हिसाब से डीजल की कीमतों में समायोजन करना चाहती है। प्रधानमंत्री की आर्थिक सलाहकार परिषद के अध्यक्ष सी. रंगराजन ने नई दिल्ली में कहा कि केन्द्र डीजल की कीमतों को विनियंत्रित करने के बारे में बिल्कुल स्पष्ट है और अब तो केवल समय के बारे में तय करना है। श्री रंगराजन ने कहा कि तेल कंपनियों को भारी नुकसान हो रहा है और अगर डीजल की कीमतें बढ़ाई नहीं जाती तो बजट पर भी बोझ बढ़ेगा।

मुम्बई शेयर बाजार में आज सेंसेक्स ४३ अंक बढ़कर १८ हजार तीन सौ ९ पर बंद हुआ। नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का निफ्‌टी १८ अंक बढ़कर पाच हजार पांच सौ एक पर जा पहुंचा। इधर देश में डॉलर के मुकाबले रूपया १२ पैसे मजबूत हुआ एक डॉलर का मूल्य ४४ रूपये ७४ पैसे रहा। दिल्ली के सर्राफा बाजार में सोने का मूल्य लगातार तीसरे दिन कम होते हुए आज १०५ रूपये गिरकर २२ हजार पांच सौ ४० रूपये प्रति दस ग्राम हो गया। चांदी साढ़े नौ सौ रूपये सस्ती होकर ५३ हजार एक सौ रूपये प्रति किलो ग्राम पर जा पहुंची।

 केन्द्रीय महिला तथा बाल विकास मंत्री कृष्णा तीरथ ने कहा है कि सरकार बलात्कार की रोकथाम के लिए कड़े कानून बनाने के वास्ते बलात्कार की परिभाषा संशोधित करेगी। आज नई दिल्ली में उन्होंने कहा कि एक समिति इस मुद्दे पर पहले से ही काम कर रही है। उन्होंने उत्तर प्रदेश के लखीमपुर में हुई हत्या के बारे में कहा कि एन सी डब्ल्यू से रिपोर्ट आने के बाद निर्णय लिया जायेगा।

 मुम्बई के पुलिस आयुक्त अरूप पटनायक ने कहा है कि जानेमाने पत्रकार ज्योतिर्मय डे की हत्या व्यक्तिगत दुश्मनी के कारण नहीं हुई है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि आरंभिक जांच से पता चलता है कि यह हत्या पेशेवर व्यक्ति  द्वारा कराई गयी है। श्री पटनायक ने सहायक पुलिस आयुक्त अनिल महाबोले के बारे में कहा कि वे इस मामले मे शामिल नहीं है।

मुंबई पुलिस आयुक्त अरूप पटनायक ने आज कहा कि प्राथमिक जांच के आधार पर यह कहा जा सकता है कि डे की हत्या किसी निजी कारण से नहीं हुई है उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि डे की हत्या पेशेवर हत्यारों ने की है। पटनायक ने मुंबई के अतिरिक्त पुलिस कमीश्नर अनिल महाबोले के बारे में सफाई पेश करते हुए कहा कि महाबोले का इस मामले से कोई संबंध नहीं है। हत्या की सीबीआई जांच की बढ़ती मांग के बीच महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री पृथ्वीराज चौहान ने आज कहा कि मुंबई पुलिस की काबलियत पर शक करना उचित नहीं होगा उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि मुंबई पुलिस को जांच के लिए उचित समय देना चाहिए। उमेश उजगर के साथ निशा रानी आकाशवाणी समाचार मुंबई।

भारत और स्लोवेनिया ने शिक्षा, विज्ञान और टेक्नोलॉजी के क्षेत्र में समझौता सहित तीन समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। शेष दो समझौते परस्पर निवेश संवर्धन तथा संरक्षण और भारतीय मानक ब्यूरो तथा स्लोवेनियन इंस्टीट्यूट फॉर स्टेंडर्स के बीच एक सहमति पत्र के बारे में है। इन समझौतों पर प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह और स्लोवेनिया के प्रधानमंत्री बोरूत पाहोर के बीच आज नई दिल्ली में प्रतिनिधि मंडल स्तर की वार्ता के बाद हस्ताक्षर किये गए। इससे पूर्व, आज सुबह नई दिल्ली में श्री पाहोर ने कहा कि वे भारत में निवेश के अवसरों की तलाश में हैं। श्री पाहोर चार दिन की भारत यात्रा पर कल मुंबई पहुंचे।

 भारत और श्रीलंका के बीच कई दशक बाद फेरी सेवा फिर शुरू हो गई है। तुतिकोरन से २०० यात्रियों को लेकर रवाना हुआ जहाज स्कोटिया प्रिंस अपनी पहली यात्रा पर आज तड़के कोलंबो पहुंचा। हमारी संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि तुतिकोरन के चिदम्बरनार बन्दरगाह पर केन्द्रीय जहाजरानी मंत्री जी के वासन ने इसे झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया।
तीन दशक बाद दोनों पड़ोसी देशों के बीच नौका सेवाओं की यह नई शुरूआत है। पिछले साल प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह और श्रीलंकाई राष्ट्रपति महिन्द्रा राजपक्षे की घोषणा के बाद दोनों देशों के बीच नौका सेवाओं को फिर से शुरू किया गया है। उम्मीद की जा रही है कि नौका सेवा के शुरू होने से दोनों देशों के बीच सांस्कृतिक तथा धार्मिक संगठन तथा व्यापार को भी बढ़ावा मिलेगा। स्कोटिया प्रिंस टयूटी कोरिन और कोलम्बो से हफ्‌ते में दो बार रवानगी होगी। इस लग्जरी लाइनर में लगभग १००० यात्री यात्रा कर सकते हैं और इसका भाडा हवाई यात्रा से लगभग आधा होगा। भविष्य में रामेश्वरम्‌ और दलाईमनार से भी ऐसी ही नौका सेवा की शुरूआत होने की उम्मीद है। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए कोलम्बो से कंचन प्रसाद।

भारत ने सोमालियाई समुद्री लुटेरों द्वारा अगवा किये गये जहाज एम वी सुएज के भारतीय चालक दल के सदस्यों को छोडे जाने का स्वागत किया है। विदेश मंत्री  एस एम कृष्णा ने नई दिल्ली में बातचीत करते हुए कहा कि चालक दल के सदस्यों के छोडे जाने पर सरकार खुश है और जहाज अब रवाना हो गया है।

अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय परमाणु ऊर्जा एजेंसी के महानिदेशक यूकिया अमानो ने कहा है कि भारत सहित कई देशों के लिए परमाणु ऊर्जा, ऊर्जा का एक महत्वपूर्ण स्रोत बनी रहेगी। विदेश सचिव निरूपमा राव ने आज वियना में श्री अमानो से मुलाकात की और भारत तथा आई एजेंसी के बीच सहयोग की समीक्षा की।

राष्ट्रीय अंतर राज्यीय सीनियर एथलेटिक्स चैंपियनशिप आज बंगलोरू में सम्पन्न हो गई। केरल ने पुरूष और महिला दोनों वर्गों में कुल मिलाकर तेरह स्वर्ण, सात रजत और सात कांस्य पदक हासिल करते हुए ओवरऑल चैंपियनशिप जीती। केरल ने पुरूष और महिला दोनों वर्गों में भी शीर्ष स्थान हासिल किया। पुरूष वर्ग में तमिलनाडु दूसरे स्थान पर और पंजाब तीसरे स्थान पर रहा, जबकि महिला वर्ग में पंजाब दूसरे और कर्नाटक तीसरे स्थान पर रहा। चैंपियनशिप में सर्वश्रेष्ठ पुरूष एथलीट का खिताब केरल के साजीश जोसेफ को मिला, जबकि सर्वश्रेष्ठ महिला एथलीट का खिताब भी केरल की ही मायूखा जॉनी को मिला।

The Centre today pledged full support to the Chhattisgarh and Odisha governments to face the challenge of left wing extremism. At a review meeting in New Delhitoday, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said the Centre has planned to tackle the Naxal menace through two pronged strategy,  development and police action.

Mr. Chidambaram said Left Wing Extremist groups also continue to target infrastructure and businesses. He however, said that the security forces have confronted the challenge of Left Wing Extremism with courage and restraint and shot dead 78 extremists in 125 encounters this year. In the high level meeting, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his Chhattisgarh counterpart Raman Singh were present. On 10th of this month, in Dantewada 10 security personal were killed.

The Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Bill, 2011 has been passed in the West Bengal Assembly amidst Left walkout. The bill was presented in the Assembly today to hand over 400 acres of land at Singur to the farmers who never accepted compensation for their land from the government. Our correspondent reports the historic Bill vested the 997 acres of the Nano plot with the government for the eventual return of about 400 acre to those farmers.

The principal aim of the Bill is to return land to the owners whose land was taken by the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee administration for what it called public purpose of setting up the country's first Nano factory of Tata Motors at Singur in Hooghly, about 40 km from Kolkata. Although the opposition Left Front was not against the bill in principle but on points of technicalities of the process in which the bill was brought and a few other points the Left Front staged a walk-out.

 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa met the Prime Minister in New Delhi today. She submitted a detailed memorandum containing issues ranging from the alleged war crimes against Tamils in Sri Lanka to special package for fishermen and enhanced central allocations to the state.

Later briefing the media, she demanded the Prime Minister to drop Textile Minister Dayanidhi Maran from the Cabinet in view of charges leveled against him in the 2 G Spectrum scam. Ms. Jayalalithaa said that the whole country is concerned about the issue of corruption and the Supreme Court is playing an active role in tackling the menace. On the issue of AIADMK's support to Central Government, she said, Congress is still  in alliance with the DMK, so there is no question of any realignment at the centre.

The Congress today said that if civil society members in the joint drafting committee have some reservations on certain issues, they should convince the government through discussions. In Odisha, The Congress party today suspended MLA, Shivaji Majhi, for abstaining from voting in the Rajya Sabha election held last year. Odisha PCC chief spokesman, Arya Kumar Gyanendra, said at Bhubaneswar that the Lanjigarh MLA from Kalahandi has deliberately defied the party whip to support an independent candidate and abstained himself from voting. He said factual proof has been found against Shivaji Majhi in this case.

Mumbai Police Commissioner, Arup Patnaik today said that the veteran journalist Jyotirmoy Dey’s murder was not an act of personal enmity. Mr. Patnaik also cleared the name of ACP Anil Mahabole, saying that he was out of the picture in this case.

Meanwhile, amidst growing demand for a CBI probe into the case, Maharashtra’s chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavan today said that The Mumbai police should not be undermined and given a fair chance to investigate the murder.

India and the World Bank today signed three agreements in New Delhi for cleaning the Ganga River, besides stregthening Rural Livelihoods and Biodiversity Conservation in the country.  The World Bank will provide one billion US Dollars for the River cleaning project, while a credit worth approximately 24 million dollars will be given for the other two projects. Speaking on the occassion, Environment and Forest Minister Jairam Ramesh said that the objective of Ganga project is to stop the flow of untreated municipal sewage and industrial effluent into the River by 2020. Inflation has gone up up to 9.06 per cent in May following pressure from manufactured items and petrol prices. Inflation, as measured by the Wholesale Price Index stood at 8.66 per cent in April. It had stood at 10.48 per cent in May, 2010. Meanwhile, as per data released by the government today, overall inflation in March this year has been revised upward to 9.68 per cent from the provisional 9.04 per cent.   As per the latest data, prices of manufactured products, which have a weight of around 65 per cent in the WPI basket, went up by 7.27 per cent year-on-year in May.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has called a closer watch on the domestic and international developments in the coming months and to make appropriate adjustments to check inflation. In an official release, the Minister said the latest inflation figures for the month of May poses some concerns which need to be addressed.

Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, PMEAC today pitched for further tightening of the monetary policy by the RBI at its next review which is due on Thursday.  Speaking to Media on the sidelines of a seminar in New Delhi today, Council's Chairman Dr. C Rangarajan described the rise in inflation to above 9 per cent as upsetting.

Government is keen on adjusting diesel prices in line with the international crude prices. Chairman of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, C Rangarajan said in New Delhi today that the Centre is very clear on deregulating the diesel prices and only the timing has to be decided now. Mr Rangarajan said that the Oil Companies are incurring huge losses and if the the diesel prices are not raised, the burden on the budget will also increase. Dwelling on the same issue, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia said that failure to pass on the increasing prices of fuel to consumers will adversly affect the energy sector in the country. He said, it will also have and adverse impact on the capacity to invest in exploration and development of the sector.

An Economic Survey by Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD, said that  India has the potential to clock double-digit growth in medium term. Releasing the survey in New Delhi today, OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria said an inclusive growth of 10 per cent per year is feasible only when administrative and regulatory barriers are reduced.  OECD also noted that sustainability of growth will depend on increased capital inflows and higher domestic savings.

India and Slovenia today signed three agreements including one on cooperation in the field of education, science and technology. The other two agreements are mutual promotion and protection of investments including an MoU between Bureau of Indian Standards and Slovenian Institute for Standards. The agreements were signed after the delegation level talks between Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor in New Delhi this eveving.
Earlier, talking to newsmen in the capital this morning, Mr Pahor said that he is looking for investment opportunities in India.

 India has welcomed the release of six of its sailors held captive by Somali Pirates on board a hijacked merchant vessel. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said, the government is happy that the sailors have been released and the ship is now moving out. He however, refused to comment on the role of Pakistani rights activist Ansar Burney in securing the release of the 22 crew members of different nationalities. Mr. Burney said yesterday that the Somali pirates had released the crew members after ransom was paid to them. The pirates had taken the crew members, including Pakistanis, Egyptians and a Sri Lankan, hostage after capturing the vessel MV Suez last year.

Kerala became the overall champions in the National Senior Inter-State Athletics Championships which concluded in Bangalore this evening. Kerala also won the men's and women's team titles and won a total of 13 gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals for the overall honours.
Asian Games gold medallist of Uttar Pradesh, won the gold in women's 3000 meter steeplechase. Amritpal Singh of Punjab  won gold in the men's long jump. Tintu Luka of Kerala came first in the women's race while her statemate Sajesh Joseph won the gold in men's race.
