लोकपाल मुद्दे पर गतिरोध समाप्त करने के प्रयास जारी हैं। कड़े लोकपाल विधेयक पर दबाव बनाने के लिए सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता अण्णा हजारे का अनच्चन आज सातवें दिन भी जारी है।
बातचीत के लिये सरकार के तैयार होने के प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह के बयान के एक दिन बाद श्री हजारे ने कहा कि लोकपाल विधेयक के मुद्दे पर मतभेद दूर करने के लिये  सरकार के साथ बातचीत के दरवाजे बंद नहीं हुए हैं। अन्ना हजारे ने रामलीला मैदान में मौजूद अपने हजारो समर्थकों से कहा कि केवल बातचीत के जरिये इस मुद्दे का हल निकाला जा सकता है।
लोकपाल विधेयक संबंधी संसदीय स्थायी समिति विधेयक संबंधी सिविल सोसायटी के मसौदे का अध्ययन कर रही है। समिति के अध्यक्ष अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी ने नई दिल्ली में बताया कि संसद में अंतिम सिफारिच्च करने से पहले सभी पहलुओं पर विस्तार से विचार किया जाएगा।

जब उद्देश्य और गनतव्य हम सबका एक ही है। थोड़ा बहुत अगर फर्क है तो वह यात्रा पर है कि कैसे उधर तक पहुंचे। मैं समझता हूं सबसे अच्छा औपचारिक वार्तालाप का संतुलित प्लेटफॉर्म अगर है इस देश में तो वह स्टेंडिंग समिति है और हमें उसकी संस्कृति संस्कार को बरकरार रखना चाहिए, न कि उस पर आक्षेप लगाना चाहिए एक मौका दीजिए क्या पता हम सबको आश्चर्यचकित कर दें।

प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने वैज्ञानिकों से परमाणु रिएक्टरों की सुरक्षा बढ़ाने और परमाणु ऊर्जा के इस्तेमाल के बारे में उच्च सुरक्षा मानक सुनिश्चित करने को कहा है। कल शाम कोलकाता में साहा परमाणु भौतिकी संस्थान के हीरक जयन्ती वर्ष के समापन समारोह में प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि विकास प्रक्रिया को आगे बढ़ाने के लिये स्वच्छ और पर्यावरण के अनुकूल ऊर्जा की हमारी खोज में परमाणु ऊर्जा की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका होगी। डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि सरकार असैन्य परमाणु ऊर्जा कार्यक्रम का विस्तार करने की प्रक्रिया में है।
देश में विज्ञान की प्रगति में प्रोफेसर मेघनाथ साहा के योगदान का जिक्र करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि युवा वर्ग की प्रतिभा की पहचान करना, उन्हें अच्छी तरह से प्रशिक्षण देना और उच्च अनुसंधान और खोज के लिये उन्हें अनुकूल वातावरण प्रदान करना हमारा सामूहिक कर्त्तव्य है। वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी और पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने भी इस अवसर पर समारोह को सम्बोधित किया।

पंजाब में पोंग बांध से चौसठ हजार क्यूसेक पानी छोड़े जाने से सतलुज और व्यास नदियों में जलस्तर बढ़ रहा है। जोकि इसकी क्षमता से लगभग सिर्फ साढ़े बारह फुट कम है। भारी वर्षा के कारण भाखड़ा बांध में भी जलस्तर बढ़ रहा है और जलस्तर बढने से लोगों की चिंताएं बढती जा रही है।

पोंग डेम का जलस्तर एक हजार तीन सौ अट्ठासी फुट तक पहुंच गया है और एक हजार तीन सौ ९० फुट पर झील पुरी तरह भर जाती है। भाखड़ा डेम और रंजीत सागर डेमों की जलाशयों में भी जलस्तर लगातार बढ़ रहा है, लेकिन भाखड़ा, व्यास प्रबंध की बोर्ड के अधिकारियों का कहना है कि अभी कोई खतरा नहीं है। बोर्ड ने कल संबंधित राज्यों की एक बैठक बुलायी है ताकि हालात पर विचार किया जा सके। उधर दो सौ गांव के लोग अभी भी पानी की चपेट में हैं। पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री ने भी आज इस हालात विचार पर करने के लिए एक बैठक बुलायी है। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए चंडीगढ़ से जसविंदर सिंह रन्धावा।

उत्तराखंड में अनेक स्थानों पर चट्टानें खिसकने से गंगोत्री और बद्रीनाथ मार्ग अवरुद्ध हो गया है। गढ़वाल मंडल में कुछ स्थानों पर आवच्च्यक वस्तुओं की आपूर्ति में बाधा आई है। कल रात भी कुछ जगहों पर वर्षा हुई।

प्रदेश में हालांकि पिछले चौबीस घंटों के दौरान बारिश में कमी आयी है, लेकिन गंगोत्री, बद्रीनाथ, केदारनाथ राजमार्ग के साथ ही कुछ अन्यों रास्तों पर पिछले कई दिनों से यातायात बाधित होने से उत्तर काशी चमौली और उत्वयाग के विभिन्न हिस्सों में आवश्यक वस्तुओं का संकट पैदा हो गया है। साथ ही कुछ क्षेत्रों में बिजली की आपूर्ति भी प्रभावित है। इस बीच उधम सिंह नगर में दो लोगों के ढेला नदी में बहने की खबर है। राघवेश पाण्डेय आकाशवाणी समाचार देहरादून।

उत्तर प्रदेश में बाढ़ की स्थिति चिंताजनक बनी हुई है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि बाढ़ से सैंकड़ों गांवों के लाखों लोग प्रभावित हैं।

नदियों में जारी उफान के कारण कुछ पश्चिमी और पूर्वी जिलों में बाढ़ की हालत और भी बिगड़ गई है। नेपाल में हुई भारी बारिश के बाद घाघरा, शारदा, राप्ती और सरयू नदी कई जगह खतरे के निशान से उपर बनी हुई है। शारदा के बाढ़ के कारण लखीमपुर और सीतापुर के पास के तमाम इलाके बाढ़ के पानी से घिरे हुए हैं। वहीं राप्ती नदी में आयी बाढ़ से बस्ती के तमाम गांव जलमग्न हैं। गंगा, रामगंगा और कोशी की बाढ़ ने पश्चिमी इलाकों की सैकड़ों हैक्टेयर की जमीन पर खड़ी फसल को भारी नुकसान पहुंचाया है। पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश के इलाकों को दिल्ली और उत्तराखंड से जोड़ने वाले सड़कों पर यातायात अभी भी बाधित है। संजय प्रताप सिंह आकाशवाणी समाचार इलाहाबाद।

अमरीका के राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा ने कहा है कि अमरीका में मंदी का दूसरा दौर नहीं चल रहा है, लेकिन देश को खतरा इस बात से है कि बेरोजगारी के संकट से निपटने के उपायों के परिणाम जल्द नहीं निकल पा रहे हैं। एक टेलीविजन चैनल को दिये इन्टरव्यू में उन्होंने कहा कि बेरोजगारी की दर अब भी बहुत ज्यादा है और अर्थव्यवस्था में तेजी से वृद्धि नहीं हो रही है।

लीबिया से मिली खबरों में बताया गया है कि सैंकड़ों विद्रोही राजधानी त्रिपाली में दाखिल हो गए हैं और सिटी सेंटर की तरफ बढ़ रहे हैं। विद्रोही एक सैन्य बैरक पर कब्जा करने के बाद और एक जेल से कैदियों को छुड़ाकर लगभग १०० वाहनों के काफिले में राजधानी के लगभग १६ मील पश्चिम में पहुंचे। शहर के निवासियों ने सड़कों पर नारे लगाकर और झंडे फहराकर विद्रोहियों का स्वागत किया।
विद्रोही नेतृत्व का कहना है कि उसने कर्नल गद्दाफी के पुत्र सैफ-उल-इस्लाम को पकड़ लिया है, हालांकी इसकी स्वतंत्र पुष्टि नहीं हो सकी है।
कर्नल मुअम्मर गद्दाफी ने फिर कहा है कि वह विद्रोहियों को हरा देंगे।  लीबिया के सूचना मंत्री मूसा इब्राहिम ने बताया कि कल राजधानी त्रिपोली में दोपहर बाद हुए संघर्ष में एक हजार ३०० लोग मारे गए हैं और पांच हजार घायल हुए हैं।

सीरिया में बहुदलीय राजनीतिक व्यवस्था शुरू करने के प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं। सीरिया के राष्ट्रपति बशर अल असद ने कहा कि पिछले पांच महीने से सड़कों पर विरोध प्रदर्शनों से उनकी सरकार को कोई खतरा नहीं है। सरकारी टेलीविजन के साथ इन्टरव्यू में विरोध प्रदर्शनों के बारे में उन्होंने कहा कि सीरिया में राजनीतिक समाधान होना चाहिए लेकिन हिंसा से सुरक्षा बल सख्ती से निपटेंगे।

लोकपाल पर सरकार और अण्णा पक्ष के बीच बने गतिरोध को तोड़ने की कोशिशें तेज होने की खबर आज के तमाम समाचार पत्रों कीे सुर्खियां है। आज समाज लिखता है-शुरू हुई बातचीत जबकि नवभारत टाइम्स ने शीर्षक दिया है-बात आगे बढ़ी, लेकिन मतभेद कायम।नई दुनिया की सुर्खी है-टीम अण्णा में आंदोलन को लेकर एक राय नहीं।
कुछ समाचार पत्रों ने प्रधानमंत्री के उस बयान को प्राथमिकता दी है जिसमें उन्होंने कहा है कि भारत के विकास और वृद्धि के लिए सुरक्षित ऊर्जा की उपलब्धता एक अहम कारक है।

Efforts are on to break the deadlock on the Lokpal issue. Meanwhile, social activist Anna Hazare continues his fast on the 7th day today to press for a strong Lokpal Bill.

A day after Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the Government was open for discussion, 73-year-old Hazare said, his campaign against corruption has not closed the door of dialogue with the government to resolve the differences on Lokpal Bill. Anna Hazare told thousands of his supporters at the Ramlila Ground that the issue can be resolved through dialogue only.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Lokpal Bill is studying the civil society's version of the bill. The Chairman of the Committee Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters in New Delhi that all aspects will be looked into in detail before making final recommendations to Parliament. He said that the Committee is looking into the representations being sent by the general public in response to the advertisements issued by the Committee. Mr Singhvi said that the aim of the government and civil society is the same, only the methodology needs to be synchronized.

There is a genuine concern on the grass roots, which we share, which is the concern about corruption. So we are sharing that Abhiyaan that concern on corruption. Its not a question of the destination, iis not a question of the consequence, its a question of the journey. We are differing only a little bit on the journey and the methodology of the journey.

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has called upon the scientific community to enhance the safety of nuclear reactors and ensure the highest safety standards on the use of nuclear energy. Addressing the closing ceremony of Diamond Jubilee year of the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics in Kolkata last evening, Dr. Singh said the nuclear energy will play an important role in our quest for clean and environment friendly energy to push forward the development process. The Prime Minister said that his government is in the process of expanding the civil nuclear energy programme. He said more investment in research and development should be accorded high priority to attract more youngsters towards scientific research. Referring to the contribution of Prof. Meghnath Saha for the country's advancement in science, the Prime Minister said, it is our collective duty to identify young talent, train them well and provide them with an environment which is conducive to advanced research and discovery. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also spoke on the occasion.

The Prime Minister will deliver the Golden Jubilee Lecture of the Indian Institute of Management in Kolkata this morning. In the afternoon, Dr. Singh will inaugurate the Diamond Jubilee celebration during the 57th Annual Convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in West Midnapur district.

Our correspondent reports that this is the first visit of the Prime Minister after the new government came into power in the state.

The State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met the Prime Minister at Raj Bhawan in Kolkata last night and urged him to extend another round of central help to tide over the accute financial crisis. A delegation of the Pradesh Congress Committee also met the Prime Minister and sought his help for the development of the State.

In Uttarakhand, roads leading to Gangotri and Badrinath shrines continued to remain blocked at various places as the debris of the landslide is yet to be cleared. Our correspondent reports that the supply of essential commodities has been affected at a few places in the Garhwal region.

Shortage of essential commodities has been reported in various parts of Uttar Kashi, Chamoli and Rudra Prayag districts following the road blockages at different places in Garhwal region. Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway is closed for last 15 days whereas Badrinath-Kedarnath routes are disrupted from the last week. The flood situation has worsened in several areas of Uttar Pradesh. Our correspondent has filed this report:

About fifteen hundred villages are flooded in the state and flood situation is worsened in some areas of western and eastern UP. Rains in Nepal have caused floods in Ghaghara, Sharda, Rapti and Saryu. Floods in Sharda have affected scores of villages in Lakhimpur and Sitapur. While spate in river Ganga, Ramganga and Kosi has played havoc and damaged crops in thousands of acres of land. The road transport connecting Delhi and Uttrakhand with western UP districts is still disrupted. However National highway between Delhi to Lucknow has opened for light weight vehicles after five days . Our Chandigarh correspondent reports that the water level in most of the reservoirs of Punjab is rising.

Water level in Pong dam reservoir touched 1,388 feet which is just two feet below filling level. Water level of Bhakra dam and Ranjit Sagar dam are also continuously rising; but Bhakra Beas Management Board officials said, situation is under control there. Board has summoned a meeting of partner states tomorrow to discuss the situation. Meanwhile, water has not receded in about 200 villages of the state and people are worried due to the rising level of Beas river. US President Barack Obama says that America is not facing another recession but it is in danger of not having a recovery that is fast enough to deal with a genuine unemployment crisis. In an interview to a TV News Channel, he said, the unemployment rate is still too high, and the economy is not growing fast enough. Reflecting on the recent Wall Street crash, Mr.Obama argued that outside factors like the European debt crisis and Japan's tsunami have hit economic growth.

Reports from Libya say that hundreds of rebels have swept into the capital Tripoli, advancing towards the city centre. The rebels moved in a convoy of about 100 vehicles after capturing a military barrack and freeing prisoners from a jail, about 16 miles west of the capital. Residents poured into the streets to greet the rebels chanting and waving flags.

The rebels leadership says that Colonel Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam, has been captured. However, there is no independent confirmation.

Col. Muammar Gaddafi has vowed again to defeat the rebels. He is believed to still have thousands of armed followers in the capital but there are reports that a number of them have been surrendering to the rebels.

The festival of Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated today with religious fervor and gaiety. Temples are tastefully decorated and devotees are visiting the temples since early this morning. In some parts of the country Janmashtami was celebrated yesterday. The festival marks the birth of Lord Krishna. Our correspondent reports that a large number of devotees are reaching Mathura and Vrindaban in Uttar Pradesh to take part in the celebrations.

Hordes of people from all walks of life are congregated at Mathura to witness the festival with great enthusiasm and religious fervor. Large numbers of devotees even from abroad chanting Hare Krishna are also gathered at ISCON temples at Mathura Allahabad, Varanasi and other places to seek the blessings of Lord Krishna. Religious processions depicting life of Lord Krishna were taken out on Sunday at several places across the state. Adequate security arrangements are in place in and around Mathura Railways and State Transport Corporation have planned special trains and buses for devotees coming to Mathura for celebrating Janmashtami. Dahi Handi Mandals are going global this Gokul Ashtami. It is an East meets West, Mumbai's Govinda groups and the famous Castellers compete on the streets to form the highest human pyramid. The Spanish troupe will also form a human pyramid at the gate way of India as a mark of respect, for victims of the 26/11 terror attacks.  प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा है कि सरकार, लोकपाल विधेयक से जुड़े सभी मुद्दों पर तर्कसंगत बहस के लिए तैयार है। आज कोलकाता में भारतीय प्रबंधन संस्थान में स्वर्ण जयंती भाषण देते हुए डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि इस विधेयक के ब्यौरों के बारे में वैचारिक मतभेद हैं। संसद की स्थायी समिति के पास यह विधेयक विचाराधीन है और उसे कोई भी संच्चोधन प्रस्तावित करने का अधिकार है।

लोकपाल पर हमने एक बिल पेश किया है जो विचार के लिए स्थायी समिति के पास है। अगर किसी को भी इस विधेयक से संबंधित अपने सुझाव देने हैं तो वह अपने सांसदों और स्थायी समिति के सामने अपनी बात रखें। हम लोकपाल बिल पर हर तरह की तर्कसंगत बातचीत के लिए तैयार हैं।
 डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि केवल लोकपाल की स्थापना से ही भ्रष्टाचार की समस्या हल नहीं हो पाएगी। इसके साथ-साथ न्यायिक सुधार भी करने होंगे। डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि मुकदमों के तेजी और समय पर निपटारे से भ्रष्टाचार काफी कम होगा और यह धारणा भी दूर होगी कि कानून तोड़ने वाले साफ बच निकलते हैं। प्रधानमंत्री ने विश्वास जताया कि सरकार निर्णय लेने की प्रक्रिया में पारदर्च्चिता बढ़ाने के लिए व्यवस्थागत रास्ते निकालेगी।
 प्रधानमंत्री ने बताया कि उन्होंने मंत्री समूह से कहा है कि वे इस बात की छानबीन करें कि विवेकाधीन अधिकार किस तरीके से कम किए जा सकते हैं और निर्णय लेने की प्रक्रिया किस तरह अधिक से अधिक पारदर्च्ची बनाई जा सकती है।

भ्रष्टाचार हमारी व्यवस्था से पूरी तरह से दूर नहीं हुआ है। यह कई रूपों में है। आम आदमी को भ्रष्टाचार का सामना करना पड़ता है उसे अपने साधारण काम करने के लिए रिश्वत देनी पड़ती है। दुलर्भ संसाधनों चाहे वो भूमि, खनिज और स्पैक्ट्रम का मामला हो, आवंटन की विधि पारदर्शी नहीं है इसलिए इसमें हमेशा भ्रष्टाचार की संभावना रहती है।
 डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि भ्रष्टाचार की चुनौती से निपटने में विफलता पर इस समय लोग सबसे अधिक चिंतित हैं। इस विफलता को दूर करना होगा। उन्होंने बताया कि नियामक व्यवस्था को मजबूत करने के लिए एक नया विधेयक लाया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि चुनाव के लिए पैसा देना, एक और मुद्दा है जिसमें सुधार की ज+रूरत है ताकि कालेधन के पैदा होने की संभावनाओं को कम किया जा सके।
 प्रधानमंत्री ने आच्चा व्यक्त की कि देच्च अगली पंचवर्षीय योजना में नौ प्रतिच्चत की आर्थिक विकास दर हासिल कर लेगा।

हमने ग्यारहवीं योजना में आठ दशमलव दो प्रतिशत विकास दर हासिल कर ली है और बारहवीं योजना में नौ प्रतिशत विकास दर हासिल करना मुश्किल नहीं है। लेकिन, यह बहुत ही महत्वाकांक्षी लक्ष्य है।

 लोकपाल मुद्दे पर गतिरोध समाप्त करने के लिए सरकार और समाजसेवी अण्णा हजारे की टीम के बीच अन्य माध्यमों के जरिए बातचीत जारी है। उच्च सूत्रों ने बताया है कि केन्द्र सरकार बातचीत में महाराष्ट्र के अपर मुख्य सचिव यू सी सारंगी और आध्यात्मिक गुरु भैय्‌यू जी महाराज का सहयोग ले रही है। भैय्‌यू जी महाराज ने आज नई दिल्ली में बताया कि सरकार, गतिरोध समाप्त करने का पुरजोर प्रयास कर रही है। अण्णा हजारे के साथ वार्ता को उन्होंने पारिवारिक बातचीत बताते हुए कहा कि वे सरकार और अण्णा ग्रुप द्वारा तैयार मसौदे, दोनों का अध्ययन कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने आशा व्यक्त की कि मतभेद जल्दी ही सुलझा लिए जाएंगे।  संसदीय कार्य राज्यमंत्री हरीश रावत ने कहा कि सिविल सोसायटी के साथ विभिन्न स्तरों पर बातचीत चल रही है और ये वार्ताएं समानान्तर न होकर एक दूसरे की पूरक हैं। संसदीय स्थायी समिति के अध्यक्ष अभिषेक सिंघवी ने कहा है कि समिति लोकपाल पर  सिविल सोसायटी के मसौदे का अध्ययन कर रही है और संसद को अपनी सिफारिशें देने से पहले उसके सभी पहलुओं पर विचार किया जाएगा।
 इस बीच, मजबूत लोकपाल की मांग को लेकर अण्णा हजारे का अनशन आज सातवें दिन भी जारी है। आज सुबह उनकी मेडिकल जांच की गई। उनकी तबीयत ठीक है, लेकिन वजन पांच किलो कम हो गया है। अण्णा हजारे ने स्पष्ट किया है कि उनका ग्रुप बातचीत के लिए तैयार है।

 उत्तर प्रदेश में बलिया जिले के नगरा क्षेत्र में आज सुबह एक भीषण दुर्घटना में ४६ लोगों की मौत हो गई। पुलिस ने बताया कि मालीपुर गांव के पास एक ट्रैक्टर-ट्राली सड़क के किनारे पानी के गड्ढे में पलट गई। इस में ६० लोग सवार थे और वे करीमुद्दीनपुर में एक देवी मंदिर जा रहे थे।  अधिकतर लोग उभांव इलाके के उस्मानपुर गांव के रहने वाले थे।
 जिलाधिकारी मधुकर द्विवेदी ने दुर्घटना के शिकार लोगों को आर्थिक सहायता देने की घोषणा की है। उन्होंने बताया कि मृतकों के परिजनों को एक-एक लाख रूपये, गम्भीर रूप से घायलों को पचास-पचास हजार रूपये और सामान्य रूप से घायलों को दस-दस हजार रूपये की राशि दी जायेगी। उन्होंने बताया कि मृतकों में ३० महिलाएं शामिल हैं।

 जम्मू-कच्च्मीर में कुपवाड़ा जिले के हंदवाड़ा क्षेत्र में कल रात सेना और आतंकवादियों के बीच गोलीबारी में दो लोगों की मौत हो गयी। मरने वालों में एक महिला और एक नागरिक शामिल हैं। अस्पताल सूत्रों के अनुसार घायल महिला ने अस्पताल में दम तोड़ा।

 १५वीं मराठा लाइट इनफेन्ट्री के लेफि्‌टनेंट नवदीप सिंह का आज उनके  शहर गुरदासपुर में पूरे सैनिक सम्मान के साथ अंतिम संस्कार किया गया। सेना की टुकड़ी ने शहीद को सलामी दी।
 २४ वर्षीय लेफि्‌टनेंट नवदीप ंिसंह जम्मू-कश्मीर के गुरेज सेक्टर में आतंकवादियों के साथ मुठभेड़ में शहीद हो गए थे। ये आतंकवादी भारतीय सीमा में घुसने का प्रयास कर रहे थे। सेना की कार्रवाई में १२ आतंकवादी ढ़ेर हो गए थे।

 गोवा आपदा प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण ने मड़गांव पोर्ट ट्रस्ट से वास्को में एक उर्वरक कारखाने तक जाने वाली पाइपलाइन को अस्थायी रूप से बंद कर दिया है। इस पाइपलाइन में शुक्रवार को  आग लग गयी थी। तब इस पाइपलाइन के ज+रिए, एक जहाज से, नैपथा, इस फैक्ट्री में भेजा जा रहा था। डिप्टी कलेक्टर लेविन्सन मार्टिन्स ने बताया है कि पिछले तीन दिन से लपटें निकल रही हैं, लेकिन आग काबू में है।

 आन्ध्रप्रदेश के २९ विधायकों ने राज्य विधानसभा से इस्तीफा दे दिया है। जगन मोहन रेड्डी के प्रति वफादार इन विधायकों ने आय से अधिक सम्पत्ति के मामले में सी बी आई की एफ आई आर में पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री स्वर्गीय वाई० एस० राजशेखर रेड्डी का नाम शामिल किये जाने के विरोध में यह कार्रवाई की है। इस्तीफा देने वाले विधायकों में २६ कांग्रेस  के, दो तेलगुदेशम पार्टी के,  और एक प्रजाराज्यम पार्टी से है।
 इस बीच, प्रजाराज्यम पार्टी के १६ विधायक आज हैदराबाद में कांग्रेस मुख्यालय में आयोजित एक कार्यक्रम में औपचारिक रूप से कांग्रेस पार्टी में शामिल हो गये।

 कानून मंत्री सलमान खुर्च्चीद ने कहा है कि लोकपाल के मुद्दे पर सभी को स्वीकार्य समाधान ढूंढा जाना चाहिए। उन्होंने आज नई दिल्ली में पत्रकारों को बताया कि लोग कभी अपने सांसदों के ज+रिए और कभी खुद भी अपनी आवाज+ उठाते हैं। श्री खुर्च्चीद ने कहा कि इसमें कोई गलत बात नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा कि लोग अकसर देच्च और समाज में परिवर्तन की उम्मीद में आंदोलनों में शामिल होते हैं।

 पंजाब में पौंग बांध से ब्यास नदी में पानी छोड़े जाने से  कपूरथला और फाजिल्का जिलों तथा कुछ अन्य स्थानों पर बाढ़ की स्थिति गंभीर बनी हुई है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि राज्य सरकार बाढ़ प्रभावित इलाकों में हर संभव सहायता दे रही है।

पौग डेंग की झील जो झरने के बिलकुल नजदीक है को से बैराज गया में छोड़ा गया। फालतू पानी कपूरथला और कई अन्य स्थानो ंपर नुकसान पहुंचा रहा है। -- स्थान पर सतलुज और ब्यास दरिया मिलते हैं। और वहां पर बने बैराज से सतलुज में छोड़े पानी से फिरोजपुर और फाजलका में नुकसान किया है।  कई स्थानों पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सीमा पर लगी कंटियाली तार भी उखड़ गई है। प्रशासन द्वारा पानी में घिरे लोगों को हर संभव सहायता दी जा रही है। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए चंडीगढ़ से जितेन्द्र सिंह रंधावा।

 बिहार  के विभिन्न इलाकों में बाढ़ से जुड़ी  घटनाओं में अब तक १४ लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है। आपदा प्रबंधन विभाग के अनुसार सबसे अधिक दस मौतें भागलपुर, खगड़िया और वैच्चाली जिलों में हुई हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि राज्य के अड़तीस में से ग्यारह जिले बाढ़ग्रस्त हैं। भागलपुर जिला बाढ़ से सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित है जहां नौगछिया और रंगड़ा चौक के बीच कई जगह बहुत अधिक पानी जमा है। नौगछिया में पानी राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग से ऊपर बह रहा है जिससे बाढ़ की स्थिति  बदतर हो गई है। जिला प्रच्चासन ने अधिकारियों को निर्देच्च दिए है कि वे सभी फाइलें और जरूरी दस्तावेज सुरक्षित स्थानों पर ले जाएं। बाढ़ग्रस्त जिलों में राष्टीय आपदा प्रबंधन बल के ५ दस्ते तैनात कर दिए गए हैं।

 उत्तर प्रदेश में बाढ़ की स्थिति गंभीर बनी हुई है।   १७ जिलों के करीब दस लाख लोग बाढ़ से प्रभावित हैं।

राज्य में मुख्य नदियां गंगा, यमुना, घाघरा और रामगंगा अभी भी कई जगहों पर खतरे के निशान से ऊपर बनी हुई हैं। केन्द्रीय जल आयोग के अनुसार रामगंगा का जलस्तर मुरादाबाद में थोड़ा कम हुआ है लेकिन अभी भी चेतावनी बिन्दू पर बना हुआ है। यमुना नदी मथुरा में घटी है लेकिन उसका बहाव खतरे के निशान से ऊपर ही है। लेकिन अयोध्या और बलिया में घाघरा उफान पर है और बलिया में घाघरा पर बने एक तटबंध के टूटने का खतरा पैदा हो गया है। इस बीच राज्य के राहत आयुक्त के के सिन्हा ने कहा है कि बाढ़ग्रस्त इलाकों में किसी भी महामारी को रोकने के लिए मेडीकल टीमों को हर तरह की दवाईयां स्टॉक में रखने के निर्देश दिये। राज्य सरकार ने बाढ़ प्रभावित लोगों तक राहत सामग्री पहुंचाने के लिए प्रशासन को जरूरी खाद्य सामान स्थानीय बाजारों से सीधे खरीदने के भी निर्देश दिये हैं। संजय प्रताप सिंह, आकाशवाणी समाचार, इलाहाबाद।

 उत्तराखंड में गंगोत्री, बद्रीनाथ और केदारनाथ जाने वाले राष्ट्रीय राजमार्गों पर पिछले कुछ दिनों से यातायात बाधित है। गढ़वाल क्षेत्र के विभिन्न भागों में आवश्यक वस्तुओं की आपूर्ति पर असर पड़ा है। मौसम विभाग के निदेशक आनंद शर्मा ने बताया है कि अगले २४ घंटों में कुछ स्थानों पर हल्की से सामान्य वर्षा हो सकती है।

 उत्तरकाशी, चमौली और रूद्रप्रयाग के कई हिस्सों में सड़कें बंद होने की वजह से फल, सब्जी, दूध और अन्य कुछ वस्तुओं की आपूर्ति पिछले कुछ दिनों से बाधित है। गड़वाल मंडल के दुर्गम क्षेत्रों में बिजली, पानी के संकट का भी समाचार है। इस बीच पी आर ओ, और पी डब्ल्यू डी के कर्मचारी सड़कों को दुरूस्त करने में रात दिन जुटे हुए हैं। उधर पिथौड़ागढ़ में मौसम को देखते हुए प्रशासन ने कैलाश मानसरोवर यात्रा के रूप में बदलाव किया है। राघवेश पांडेय, आकाशवाणी समाचार, देहरादून।

 बम्बई शेयर बाजार के शुरूआती कारोबार में आज सेन्सेक्स ७३ अंक गिर गया। आई टी, भारी मच्चीनरी, धातु, बैंकिंग और ऑटो सैक्टर के शेयरों पर बिकवाली दबाव के कारण बाजार में गिरावट आयी । दोपहर बाद के कारोबार में रिएल्टी, उपभोक्ता वस्तुएं, भारी मच्चीनरी और ऊर्जा क्षेत्र के चुनिंदा शेयरों की ताजा लिवाली के कारण सेन्सेक्स में सुधार हुआ और अब से कुछ देर पहले सेन्सेक्स-२०५-अंक की वृद्धि के साथ १६ हजार-३५० पर था।
 नेच्चनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का निफ्टी भी ५७-अंक की बढ़कर ४ हजार-९०२ पर आ गया।
 एच्चिया के प्रमुख शेयर बाजारों में मिला जुला रूख रहा। हांगकांग के हैंगसैंग में शून्य दच्चमलव छह-तीन प्रतिच्चत की बढ़त रही, जापान के निक्केई में  शून्य दच्चमलव तीन-सात   प्रतिच्चत की गिरावट आयी।
 अन्तरबैंक विदेच्ची मुद्राबाजार में डॉलर के मुकाबले रूपया २८ पैसे कमजोर हुआ। एक डॉलर की कीमत ४६ रूपये २ पैसे बोली गयी।

 लीबिया में विद्रोहियों के राजधानी त्रिपोली पहुंचने पर उनका भव्य स्वागत हुआ है। ये विद्रोही पश्चिम दिशा से शहर में दाखिल हुए और उन्हें किसी प्रतिरोध का सामना नहीं करना पड़ा। त्रिपोली के शहीद चौक पर जनता ने विद्रोहियों का शानदार स्वागत किया। इसी चौक से विद्रोह की चिंगारी उठने के बाद इसका नाम शहीद चौक पड़ा। लोगों ने कर्नल गद्दाफी के पोस्टर फाड़ डाले। लीबिया सरकार का कहना है कि कर्नल गद्दाफी के वफादार ६५ हजार सैनिक त्रिपोली में हैं, लेकिन उनकी तरफ से कार्रवाई के कोई संकेत नहीं मिले।
 इस बीच, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अदालत के अधिवक्ता ने पुष्टि की है कि कर्नल गद्दाफी के उत्तराधिकारी माने जाने वाले और उनके पुत्र सैफ अल इस्लाम को हिरासत में ले लिया है।
 उधर, कर्नल गद्दाफी ने लीबिया के कबीलों से फिर अपील की है कि वे राजधानी त्रिपोली में विद्रोहियों से मुकाबले के लिए सामने आएं।
 विद्रोहियों के प्रवक्ता का कहना है कि वे समुद्र के रास्ते मिसराता बंदरगाह के ज+रिए  त्रिपोली में दाखिल हुए हैं। कर्नल गद्दाफी की   सुरक्षा में तैनात गार्डों ने आत्म समर्पण कर दिया है और शहर के अधिकांश हिस्सों में विद्रोहियों का कब्जा हो गया है।

 पाकिस्तान में जिओ न्यूज+ ने खबर दी है कि कराची में आज दो और लोग यातना और हिंसा से मारे गये। पुलिस के अनुसार गुलशन-ए-इकबाल के एक फ्‌लैट की छत पर एक अज्ञात व्यक्ति का शव पाया गया। एक अन्य व्यक्ति शरारती तत्वों की गोलीबारी में घायल हुआ और अस्पताल में उसकी मृत्यु हो गई। इस बीच कल कराची के विभिन्न हिस्सों में गोलीबारी और यातना की घटनाओं में १३ लोगों की मौत हो गई। पुलिस का कहना है कि अधिकांश शव शहर के विभिन्न भागों में मिले।

 अफगानिस्तान में दक्षिणी हलमंद सूबे के गेरेश्क शहर में आज बम विस्फोट की घटना में एक दुकानदार और एक बच्चे की मौत हो गई और चार लोग घायल हो गये। यह बम शहर के बाजार में एक दुकान में छिपाकर रखा गया था। यह जानकारी हलमंद के गर्वनर कार्यालय द्वारा जारी किये गये एक वक्तव्य में दी गई है। इसमें बताया गया है कि कुछ बन्दूकधारियों ने कल भी इसी शहर के बाजार में एक व्यक्ति को मार डाला था। एक अन्य   घटना में लश्कर गाह में पुलिस ने कल तालिबान के एक डिप्टी कमांडर को मार गिराया।

 अमरीका के राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा ने कहा है कि अमरीका में मंदी का दूसरा दौर नहीं चल रहा है, लेकिन देश को खतरा इस बात से है कि बेरोजगारी के संकट से निपटने के लिए जो उपाय किये जा रहे हैं उनके परिणाम जल्द नहीं निकल पा रहे हैं। एक टेलीविजन चैनल को दिये इन्टरव्यू में उन्होंने कहा कि बेरोजगारी की दर अब भी बहुत ज्यादा है और अर्थव्यवस्था में तेजी से वृद्धि नहीं हो रही है।
 हाल ही में वॉल स्ट्रीट की गिरावट के बारे में उन्होंने कहा कि यूरोपीय ऋण संकट और जापान के त्सुनामी जैसे बाहरी कारणों से आर्थिक वृद्धि पर प्रतिकूल प्रभाव पड़ा है। श्री ओबामा ने कहा कि पिछले ढाई वर्षों में उन्होंने रोजगार के अवसर बढ़ाने और आर्थिक मंदी से प्रभावित अर्थव्यवस्था में वृद्धि लाने को प्राथमिक्ता दी है।

 सीरिया के राष्ट्रपति बशर अल असद ने कहा है कि देश में बहुदलीय राजनीतिक व्यवस्था शुरू करने के लिए क़दम उठाये जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि पिछले पांच महीने से सड़कों पर हो रहे विरोध प्रदर्शनों से उनकी सरकार को कोई खतरा नहीं है। सरकारी टेलीविजन के साथ इन्टरव्यू में विरोध प्रदर्शनों के बारे में उन्होंने कहा कि सीरिया में राजनीतिक समाधान होना चाहिए लेकिन हिंसा से सुरक्षा बल सख्ती से निपटेंगे।

 तिब्बत में प्राचीन ताम्र-पत्रों पर लिखी गई पाण्डुलिपियों के पचास हजार से अधिक पृष्ठों को सुरक्षित रख लिया गया है। इनकी रचना मूल रूप से भारत में की गई थी। इनमें संस्कृत में लिखी कुछ बहुमूल्य और दुर्लभ कृतियां भी शामिल हैं। चीन के अधिकारियों ने कहा है कि तिब्बती और अन्य प्राचीन भारतीय भाषाओं में ताम्र-पत्रों पर लिखी गई पाण्डुलिपियों के पंजीकरण, उन्हें छांटने और उनकी फोटो कॉपी करने का जो काम २००६ से शुरू हुआ था, वह पूरा कर लिया गया है।
 इस क्षेत्र के ताम्र-पत्र पाण्डुलिपि संरक्षण कार्यालय के निदेशक त्‌सेवांग जिग्मे ने कहा है कि जो सामग्री मिली है, उसमें से कुछ ताम्र-पत्रों पर और कुछ कागजों पर हैं।
 भारत में ताम्र-पत्रों पर लिखी गई पाण्डुलिपियों मे, संस्कृत के कालजयी ग्रन्थों, बौद्ध पुस्तकों, प्राचीन भारतीय साहित्य और संहिताओं का उल्लेख है।

 अरब लीग ने ग़ाजा पट्टी में फिलीस्तीनी उग्रवादियों पर इस्राइल के हमलों की निंदा की है।  लीग ने कहा कि संयुक्त राष्ट्र को यह हमले रोकने के लिए कदम उठाने चाहिए। काहिरा में कल लीग की आपात बैठक में यह मांग की गई। इस्राइल के हमलों में १५ लोग अपनी जान गंवा चुके हैं।
 बृहस्पतिवार को फिलीस्तीनी बंदूकधारियों ने सिनाई इलाके में आठ इस्राइली नागरिकों को मार दिया था और ग़ाज+ा की तरफ से दक्षिणी इस्राइल पर राकेट हमले किये थे। जब इस्राइल के सैनिकों ने उनका पीछा किया तो उसी क्रम में मिस्र के पांच पुलिस अधिकारी मारे गये थे।

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that the government is open to a reasoned debate on all issues of Lokpal Bill. Delivering the Golden jubilee lecture of the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, Dr. Singh said that there are differences of views on the details of the Bill and the Parliamentary Standing Committee looking into the bill has the power to propose any amendment.

The Prime Minister asserted that  creation of a Lokpal alone will not solve the problem of corruption and it needs to be supported by improvements in the pace and quality of  Judicial processes.   He added speedy trials and timely judgements will do a greal deal to discourage corruption and dispel the notion that those who break the law can get away scot free. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that government will come up with systematic solutions to increase transparency in decision making. 

The Prime Minister said, he has asked the group of ministers to look into the issues of revamping existing government procedures to reduce discretion and to make the basis of decision making as transparent as possible.

Dr. Singh said, governance failures in combating the challenge of corruption is at the forefront of the public concern and this needs to be addressed which has occupied centre stage in the perception of many concerned citizens.

Dr. Singh said, a new legislation is on the anvil to strengthen the regulatory mechanism. He said that the funding of election is yet another area which also calls for reforms to reduce the scope for generation of black money. 

The Prime minister hoped that the country will be able to achieve nine per cent growth in the next five years plan which needs inherent economic strength.

Back channel talks are on between the government and the Anna Hazare group to break the deadlock on the Lokpal issue. Highly placed sources said that the Centre has sought the services of Additional Chief Secretary of Maharashtra U.C. Sarangi and the spiritual leader Baiyyuji Maharaj to hold talks with the civil society group to carry forward the dialogue. Baiyyuji Maharaj today said in New Delhi that the government is trying hard to find a solution to the issue.  Describing the meeting with Anna Hazare as family talks Baiyyuji Maharaj said that he is studying both government and the draft prepared by the Anna Group and expressed hope that the differences of opinion can be sorted out.  Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Harish Rawat has said that the dialogue with the civil society group is being held at various levels which is not parallel but complimentary to each other. The Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Singhwi said that the panel is studying the civil society's version of the draft and all aspects will be looked into detail before making final recommendations to Parliament.  Meanwhile, Anna Hazare continues his fast on the seventh day today pressing for a strong Lokpal. He was medically examined this morning and found fit but has lost five Kgs of weight. Hazare has made it clear that the group is open to talks.

Twenty nine MLAs loyal to Jaganmohan Reddy resigned from Andhra Pradesh Assembly protesting against naming of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in CBI FIR  with regard to the disproportionate assets case. The resigned MLAs included 26-Congress; 2- Telugu Desam Party and 1-Praja Rajyam Party. Meanwhile, 16 MLAs of Praja Rajyam Party today  joined the Congress party formally at a function held at  Party Headquarters in Hyderabad.

In Uttar Pradesh, at least 46 pilgrims were killed this morning when a tractor trolley carrying them overturned in a waterlogged ditch in Nagra area of Ballia district. Police said, the mishap  occurred  when the tractor trolley carrying around 60 pilgrims overturned in the ditch near Gauapar village. The pilgrims were on their way to Sati Mata Temple in the district. Most of the victims belong to Usmanpur village under Ubhaon police station. District Magistrate Madhukar Dwivedi has announced financial assistance to the victims. He said, one lakh rupees each will be given to the family members of those who have lost their lives, fifty thousand rupees will be given to seriously injuries and ten  thousand rupees to those with minor injuries.

In Jammu and Kashmir, a woman was killed and another civilian injured in crossfire between terrorists and the army in Handwara area of Kupwara district last night. Hospital sources said, the woman who was evacuated to the hospital succumbed to her injuries. A defence spokesman said the operation was stopped to evacuate the injured.

The Goa Disaster Management Authority (DMA) has ordered the temporary shutdown of a multi-product pipeline from the Mormugao Port Trust  to a fertiliser manufacturing plant in the port town of Vasco following a fire outbreak on Friday. The underground pipeline caught fire while naphtha was being pumped out from a ship and carried to the plant. Deputy Collector Levinson Martins said, the fire is still burning after three days, but in a controlled manner.

In Punjab, flood situation in Kapurthala and  Fazilka districts and some other places is still grave as extra water is being released from Pong dam in Beas river. In Bihar, 14 people have so far died in different flood related incidents in flood affected areas of the state. According to the Disaster Management Department maximum number of ten casualities were reported from Bhagalpur, Khagaria and Vaishali districts. AIR Patna correspondent reports, 11 of 38 districts of the state are reeling under the impact of flood. The worst affected district is Bhagalpur where flood water submerged at many places between Naugachia and Rangra Chowk. The Naugachia town was facing a serious flood threat due to submerging the highway. As a preventive measure the district authorities directed officials to remove files and other important papers to safer places. Five teams of the National Disaster Response Force have been deployed in the flood hit districts.

The flood situation in Uttar Pradesh remains grim.  Our correspondent reports that about 10 lakh people in 17 districts are badly affected. 

The main rivers flowing through Uttar Pradesh -- Ganga, Yamuna Ramganga and Ghaghra -- are still flowing above the danger mark at least in 12 districts of the state. According to the central water commission, the water level of Ramganaga river has receded slightly at Muradabad but it's still above the warning level. Yamuna is also receding in Mathura but flowing above the red mark. Ghaghra is still in spate and it's level is rising in Ballia and Ayodhya. In Ballia, the Ghaghara river is a threat to the embankment and a team of flood control unit is trying to make sure that embankment is not breached by the river. The state relief commissioner K K Sinha has said that medical teams have been mobilised in all flood-affected areas to prevent any epidemic like situation and the health department has been asked to make available all essential medicines in relief camps. The state government has also instructed all-flood prone districts to purchase foodgrains and other items from local market for effective and speedy supply of relief materials to the flood-affected people. Libyan rebels has swept into the capital Tripoli to rapturous welcome. Rebel troops approaching from the west met little resistance as they raced through government positions outside the capital. Thousands of Tripoli residents celebrated as opposition fighters entered the symbolic square that they have renamed Martyrs Square, where jubilant Libyans tore down posters of Mr. Gadhafi. The Libyan government says 65 thousand soldiers loyal to Col. Gadaffi remain in Tripoli but there was little sign of them as the rebels advanced. Meanwhile the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has confirmed that Col. Gadaffi's son and intended successor Seif al-Islam has been detained. Col. Gadaffi has made a renewed call for the Libyan tribes to come to Tripoli to fight the rebels. In his second audio message of the day Col. Gadaffi made a direct appeal to towns around the capital to come to its defence. A rebel spokesman said insurgents sent a group of fighters into the capital by sea from the port of Misrata. He also said the elite presidential guard in charge of protecting Mr. Gadhafi had surrendered, enabling the opposition to seize large parts of the city.

North Korea announced today that it has seized all South Korean assets at a jointly run resort and ordered all South Koreans to leave. The North's official Korean Central News Agency said all South Korean employees must leave the country within 72 hours and they cannot take any assets from the Mount Kumgang resort. Fourteen South Koreans are listed as being at the resort. The statement said the South had given up all rights on properties owned by South Korean companies because Seoul missed a Friday deadline to resolve a dispute over the property. The South has warned that the North will be held accountable for all consequences resulting from its disposal of the assets.

An army platoon fired in the air and reversed their arms to pay tribute to the martyr. Twenty four year old Lt. Navdeep sacrificed his life fighting militants in Gurez sector in Jammu and Kashmir who were trying to sneak into the Indian territory. Twelve terrorists were gunned down by the Army in this operation on Saturday.

The 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange index is trading now up by 46  points at 16187 in noon trade. The NSE's 50-share Nifty however was down by 1.95 points, at 4,843.7. Major Asian stock markets lost at least 1 per cent last week as investors fretted about global growth prospects and awaited further developments in the euro-zone debt crisis.

In Afghanistan, two people were killed and four injured when a bomb hidden inside a shop blew up in a market in Gereshk town of southern Helmand province today. Helmand Governor’s office said the shopkeeper and a child sitting in a car parked outside the shop were killed early this morning. The statement also said that some gunmen killed a member of local community council in the same town's market yesterday. In another incident in the nearby provincial capital of Lashkar Gah, police killed a Taliban deputy commander yesterday. Our Kabul correspondent adds that Lashkar Gah is one of the first seven areas of the country where Afghan authorities have taken over control of security from international forces. The city is still frequently targeted by insurgents and the areas around Lashkar Gah are considered dangerous.

Two more people fell prey to violence and torture in Karachi  today, Geo News reported. According to police, a body of unidentified man was recovered from the roof of a flat in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.   A man was injured in firing by miscreants and succumbed to injuries in hospital.  Meanwhile, thirteen people were killed in firing and torture incidents in different parts of the metropolis yesterday.  According to police, most of the bodies recovered from different areas had torture marks.

President  Barack Obama says, the United States is not facing another recession but is in the danger of not having a recovery that is fast enough to deal with a genuine unemployment crisis.  In an interview to a TV News Channel, he said, the unemployment rate  is still too high, and  the  economy is not growing fast enough. Reflecting on the recent Wall Street crash,  Mr.Obama argued that outside factors like the European debt crisis and Japan's tsunami had hit economic growth.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Irene is strengthening as it approaches Puerto Rico with winds of 110 kilometers per hour, nearing hurricane strength.  Forecasters say hurricane conditions are expected in Puerto Rico within hours. The Dominican Republic is also under a hurricane warning with the high winds, severe rain and high tides expected today.

Tibet has preserved more than 50,000 pages of ancient palm-leaf manus originating in India, including some precious and rare editions written in Sanskrit. Chinese officials said since 2006, the registration, sorting and photocopying of the ancient palm-leaf manus written in Tibetan and other ancient Indian languages, has been completed. Tsewang Jigme, director of the region's palm-leaf manus protection office said among the pages found are some precious and rare editions written on palm leafs, while some others written on paper. Palm-leaf manus, which originated in India, refer to the Sanskrit classics, including Buddhist ures, ancient Indian literature and codes, inscribed on the leaves of palm trees.
