The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will arrive in Los Cabos, Mexico today to attend the crucial G-20 Summit, which has been over shadowed by the economic crisis in the Eurozone. Dr. Singh has arrived in Frankfurt for an over-night stay and will be leaving for Los Cabos this afternoon. The two day summit beginning tomorrow is likely to devote substantial time to deliberate on a action plan to revive growth, amidst the meltdown witnessed in several countries.
US President Barack Obama had called Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, prior to his departure to
Mexico and they had agreed to work closely together towards a successful summit. The two leaders agreed on the importance of steps to strengthen the resilience of the global economy in response to persistent risks in the Eurozone and on focusing on measures to boost global growth. In his Departure statement, Dr Singh expressed the hope that European leaders would take resolute action to resolve the financial problems facing the region. Dr Singh said continuing problems in Europe would dampen global markets and adversely impact India’s economic growth. Pitching for development to be the core of the deliberations in the G-20 summit, the Prime Minister stressed the need to focus on investment in infrastructure as a means of stimulating global growth. Our correspondent covering the summit has filed this report:

"People on the street of
Europe are hotly debating on the likely impact of the economic crisis on their life. The result of the Greek elections and the possibility of the country's exit from the Euro, deterioration of Spain's banking sector, recession in Euro Zone periphery have cast their shadow on the summit that begins in the Pacific resort of Los Cabos. Further cause for worrying has been the faltering growth in some emerging economies that has sent the alarm bells ringing. The G-20 summit provides a platform to the leaders of the big economies to come with an immediate credible solution to revive flagging global growth and stop recessionary trends setting in. Indicating that the RBI too will be joining the government in dealing with the slowdown, he said he is confident that keeping in view all factors, the RBI will adjust the monetary policy as the government is adjusting  fiscal policy. Mr Mukherjee listed the growing burden of petroleum subsidy as one of the difficult areas before the Centre for which he appealed to the states to reduce their taxes. He said he has written to the states that the Centre will also respond but it has to be balanced because if federal finance becomes weak, nobody will be able to bailout the Indian economy.

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has left for Los Cabos in Mexico to attend the crucial G-20  summit which has been over shadowed by the economic crisis in Eurozone, after an overnight stay at Frankfurt. The two day summit beginning tomorrow is likely to devote substantial time to deliberate on an action plan to revive growth, amidst a meltdown witnessed in several countries.
US President Barack Obama had called Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, prior to his departure to Mexico and agreed to work closely together towards a successful summit. The two leaders agreed on the importance of steps to strengthen the resilience of the global economy in response to persistent risks in the Eurozone and on focusing on measures to boost global growth.
In his Departure statement, Dr Singh expressed the hope that that European leaders will take resolute action to resolve the financial problems facing the region. Dr Singh said continuing problems in Europe would dampen global markets and adversely impact India’s economic growth. Pitching for development to be core of the deliberations in the G-20 summit, the Prime Minister stressed the need to focus on investment in infrastructure as a means of stimulating global growth. Our correspondent covering the summit has filed this report
"People on the street of Europe are hotly debating on the likely impact of the economic crisis on their life. The G-20 summit provides a platform to the leaders of the big economies to come with a credible solution to revive flagging global growth and stop recessionary trends setting in. Sanjay Ghosh, AIR news, Frankfurt."

Iran says, it is ready to make a positive step at the talks with six major world powers over its controversial nuclear program. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in Berlin that he was hopeful of progress at the third round of talks if there is a positive response from the other side. Our correspondent reports that the two day talks over Tehran's nuclear program get underway in Moscow tomorrow.
The P5+1 group of nations comprising UN Security Council permanent members Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States, plus Germany offered a package of proposals to Iran at the last round of talks in Baghdad in May. They called for Iran to halt its enrichment of uranium to 20 percent, ship out its stockpile of 20-percent uranium and halt enrichment at its fortified Fordo facility. In return, they offered nuclear nuclear cooperation, spare parts for Iran’s passenger aircraft fleet and an easing of an EU ban on tanker insurance that hinders oil sales to Asia. Iran’s negotiators rejected the package as insufficient. They countered with a list of their own issues like the regional security and said Iran has the right to enrich uranium. It is expected that the Moscow round of talks may help ease the crisis of confidence among the western nations and Iran. Atul Tiwary, AIR News.
