केन्द्र ने मध्य प्रदेश की आर टी आई कार्यकर्ता शहला मसूद की भोपाल में हुई हत्या की सीबीआई जांच के आदेश दिए हैं। कार्मिक विभाग राज्य मंत्री वी नारायणसामी ने कल नई दिल्ली में यह जानकारी दी। केन्द्र को मध्यप्रदेश सरकार से  एक पत्र मिला था जिसमें इस हत्याकांड की सीबीआई से जांच करवाने का अनुरोध किया गया था।
सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताओं, राजनीतिक दलों और अन्य वर्गों ने शहला मसूद की मौत की सीबीआई जांच कराने की मांग की थी। शहला की पिछले महीने की १६ तारीख को उनके घर के सामने उनकी कार में गोली मार कर हत्या कर दी गई थी। जिला पुलिस अभी तक हत्यारों और हत्या के उद्देश्य को लेकर कोई ठोस सुराग हासिल नहीं कर सकी है। राज्य सरकार ने हत्यारों के बारे में जानकारी देने के लिए एक लाख रुपये का इनाम घोसित किया है। इस मामले में पुलिस ने एक भाजपा विधायक और पुलिस अधिकारी से पूछताछ की है। शहला ने भ्रष्टाचार और कुशासन का पर्दाफास करने के लिए विभिन्न विभागों में दर्जनों आरटीआई आवेदन लगाए थे। शारिकनूर आकाशवाणी समाचार भोपाल।

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने कल दिल्ली पुलिस से कहा कि वह उस धन के स्रोत का पता लगाये जिसे कुछ सांसदों ने २००८ में लोकसभा में विश्वास मत से पहले कथित रूप से घूस के लिए इस्तेमाल किया था।
न्यायमूर्ति आफताब आलम और आर.एम. लोढा की खंडपीठ ने इस मामले की आगे निगरानी रखने से यह कहते हुए इंकार कर दिया कि इस बारे में आरोप पत्र पहले ही दाखिल किया जा चुका है। न्यायालय ने दिल्ली पुलिस को इस मामले की जांच चार हफ्ते में पूरी करने को कहा है।
पूर्व मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त जे.एम. लिंगदोह ने न्यायालय में याचिका दायर की थी और आग्रह किया था कि इस मामले को अभी निपटाया न जाये। श्री लिंगदोह के अनुरोध पर ही उच्चतम न्यायालय ने इस घोटाले पर कई निर्देश जारी किये थे।

खाद्य और उपभोक्ता मामलों के मंत्री प्रो. के.वी. थॉमस ने कहा है कि खाद्यान्न भंडारण की सुविधायें बढ़ाने के लिए कई उपाय किये जा रहे हैं। लोकसभा में ध्यानाकर्षण प्रस्ताव पर बहस का जवाब देते हुए प्रो. के.वी. थॉमस ने सदन को बताया कि अगले वर्ष मार्च तक ३० लाख टन की अतिरिक्त भंडारण सुविधा उपलब्ध हो जायेगी। उन्होंने बताया कि उनके मंत्रालय ने खाद्यान्न के भंडारण के लिए निजी और सार्वजनिक भागीदारी के तहत एक योजना तैयार की है। श्री थॉमस ने कहा कि भंडारण की समस्या की वजह से बर्बाद होने वाले खाद्यान्न की मात्रा कम की गई है।
एफसीआई गोदामों में खाद्यान्नों को होने वाले नुकसान को ढाई प्रतिशत से कम करके शून्य दशमलव सात प्रतिशत तक ला दिया गया है। एफसीआई के सारे गोदामों को कंप्यूटरीकृत किया गया है। निजी और सार्वजनिक भागीदारी के तहत योजना तैयार की है जिसके तहत एक करोड़ ५३ लाख टन की अतिरिक्त क्षमता बनाई जायेगी।

अल्फा और केन्द्र सरकार के बीच दूसरे दौर की वार्ता आज नई दिल्ली में होगी। असम के मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई ने कल दिसपुर में यह जानकारी दी। उन्होंने कहा कि बैठक में वार्ता के तौर-तरीकों के बारे में बातचीत की जायेगी। अल्फा के तीन सदस्यीय दल में चित्रबन हजारिका, सशाधर चौधरी और राजू बरूआ शामिल हैं।

अल्फा नेताओं ने उनलोग के डाबिंग समझ के साथ-साथ और सुखी राम के जमीनी हकिकत पर भी केंद्र के साथ बातचीत करेंगे। के.एल.एन.आर.एफ.   के एक दल ने भी शांति वार्ता के लिए केंद्र से आज बातचीत करने की संभावना है। इस बीच, मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई ने कहा है कि सरकार पीठा पराइचर के दावे को ग्रहण नहीं करेंगे। उन्होंने कहा है कि राज्य में कम से कम नौ भूमिगत संगठनों के साथ शांति वार्ता जारी है। राज्य में वामपंथी उग्रवाद पर भी कड़ी निगरानी रखी गई है। रमणिकांत शर्मा आकशवाणी समाचार गुवाहाटी।

इस बीच, असम सरकार ने पश्चिम बंगाल, ओड़ीशा, झारखंड और बिहार से राज्य में माओवादियों की घुसपैठ रोकने के लिए हाई अलर्ट जारी किया है।

जम्मू-कश्मीर में पाकिस्तानी सेना ने केरन और मच्छिल सैक्टरों में नियंत्रण रेखा पर पिछले बृहस्पतिवार से चार बार संघर्ष विराम का उल्लंघन किया है। रक्षा प्रवक्ता लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल जे एस बरार ने बताया कि पाकिस्तानी सैनिकों ने इन दोनों सेक्टरों में नियत्रंण रेखा के पास भारतीय सेना के ठिकानों पर बिना किसी उकसावे के गोलीबारी की। उन्होंने बताया कि पाकिस्तानी सेना की ओर से गोलीबारी के बावजूद भारतीय सेना ने पूरा संयम बरतते हुए कोई जबावी कार्रवाई नहीं की। गोलीबारी की इन घटनाओं में कोई हताहत नहीं हुआ।

चुनाव सुधारो की दिशा में एक और कदम बढ़ाते हुए कानून मंत्रालय ने मंत्रिमंडल के विचार के लिये एक नोट प्रस्तुत  करेगा। इसके तहत गंम्भीर आपराधिक मामलों में आरोपी लोगों को चुनाव लड़ने से रोकने का प्रस्ताव है। कानून मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद ने कल नई दिल्ली में यह जानकारी दी। राज्यसभा टीवी से बातचीत में उन्होंने बताया कि जनप्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम में संशोधन के जरिये प्रस्तावित कानून लाया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि इसमें फर्जी मतदान, चुनावों के लिये राजनीतिक दलों को धन देने जैसे कुछ महत्त्वपूर्ण मुद्दों को भी शामिल किया गया है।

यूरोपीय संघ ने सीरिया से तेल के आयात पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया है। यह प्रतिबंध कल से लागू हो गया। विरोधी प्रदर्शनकारियों पर राष्ट्रपति बशर अल असद की सरकार की दमनकारी कार्रवाई पर लगाम लगाने के इरादे से यह फैसला किया गया है। यूरोपीय परिषद ने ब्रसेल्स में जारी बयान में कहा है कि सीरिया में मौजूदा स्थिति की गंभीरता को ध्यान में रखते हुए सीरिया से तेल के आयात पर प्रतिबंध लगाया है। यह प्रतिबंध तेल और तेल उत्पादों की खरीद, आयात और आवाजाही पर लागू होगा।
इस बीच, सीरियाई सेना की कार्रवाई में सरकार विरोधी १४ प्रदर्शनकारियों की मौत हो गई है।

लीबिया में विद्रोही सेनाएं मुअम्मर गद्दाफी के गृह नगर की तरह बढ़ रही है। विद्रोही परिषद के प्रवक्ता अब्देल हफीज+ घोगा ने कहा है कि विद्रोही सैनिकों ने देश के अधिकांश भागों पर कब्जा कर लिया है लेकिन गद्दाफी और उसके परिवार के सदस्यों को गिरफ्त में लेना अभी बाकी है।
इस बीच, संयुक्त राष्ट्र के लीबिया में मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ता पेनोस मौंमटिस ने चेतावनी दी है कि लीबिया कठिन परिस्थितियों का सामना कर रहा है और कुछ समय के लिए पीने के पानी, खाद्य पदार्थो और जरूरत की अन्य सामग्री की आपूर्ति में कठिनाई हो रही है। विद्रोहियों और गद्दाफी के सेना के बीच ६ महीने से चल रहे गृह युद्ध के वजह से आवश्यक वस्तुओं के आपूर्ति में बाधा आ रही है।

पाकिस्तान के करीब ४० बच्चों का तालिबान आतंकवादियों ने अपहरण कर लिया है। ये बच्चे ईद के मौके पर पिकनिक के दौरान भटककर अफगानिस्तान पहुंच गए थे। ऐसी आशंका है कि इन बच्चों का आत्मघाती बमों के रूप में इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है।
पाकिस्तानी सेना के एक अधिकारी ने इस्लामाबाद में बताया कि १२ से १८ साल की उम्र के इन बच्चों का अफगानिस्तान के पूर्वी कोनार प्रांत में जाते समय अपहरण कर लिया गया।

सरकार ने हिंद महासागर में चीन की बढ़ती उपस्थिति को देखकर अंडमान निकोबार द्वीप समूह और लक्षद्वीप में सुरक्षा बढ़ा दी है। गृहमंत्री पी. चिदंबरम ने कल नई दिल्ली में कहा कि सरकार इन द्वीपों के सामरिक महत्व को जानती है इसलिए इन दोनों द्वीप समूहों में सुरक्षा बढ़ा रही है। सरकारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार गृहमंत्री ने कहा है कि अंडमान निकोबार द्वीप में एक संयुक्त कमान गठित की गई है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत को इस बात की जानकारी है कि चीन, भारत के पड़ोसी देशों म्यामां, श्रीलंका और पाकिस्तान में बंदरगाहों का निर्माण कर रहा है।

प्रवासी भारतीयों को स्वदेश लौटने पर आने वाली समस्याएं दूर करने के लिए पंजाब पुलिस ने एक वेबसाइट शुरू की है। इसकी मदद से पीड़ित व्यक्ति वीडियों कॉनफ्रेंसिंग के जरिए प्रवासी भारतीय मामलों के महानिरीक्षक से सीधे बातचीत कर सकते हैं या शिकायत दर्ज कर सकते हैं।
पंजाब में प्रवासी मामलों के महानिरीक्षक, गुरप्रीत देव ने आकाशवाणी को बताया कि राज्य में ज+मीन जायदाद से जुड़े विवादों को सुलझाने में मदद के साथ-साथ यह सुविधा परित्यक्ता महिलाओं के लिए भी मददगार साबित होगी।

कोंकण रेलमार्ग पर रत्नागिरी के पास पोमेडी गांव में पटरियों पर पानी भर जाने के कारण रेल यातायात में रूकावट बनी हुई है। क्षेत्र में भारी वर्षा के कारण रेल सेवाएं फिर शुरू होने के काम में देरी हो रही है।
महाराष्ट्र की रत्नागिरी जिले में तेज बारिश के चलते एक बार फिर कोंकण रेल सेवा बाधित हुई है। आज दूसरे दिन भी रत्नागिरी के करीब कोमेंडी गांव  के यहां रेलवे ट्रेक पर जलजमाव के कारण कई गाड़ियों के मार्ग बदलने पड़े। वहीं कुछ गाड़ियों को रद्द करना पड़ा है। जिसके चलते मुशाफिरों को काफी दिक्कतों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। बहरहाल कोंकण रेल प्रशासन द्वारा मुशाफिरों के मुश्किलों को कम करने के लिए बसों की व्यवस्था की गई है। प्रमोद कोंकण के साथ स्वीटी कोठारी आकाशवाणी समाचार मुम्बई।

अन्ना हजारे के सहयोगी अरविंद केजरीवाल को आयकर विभाग से मिले नोटिस के संदर्भ में उनके और सरकार के बीच बयानबाजी आज अखबारों के पहले पन्ने पर है। हिन्दुस्तान की खबर के मुताबिक सूचना अधिकार कानून के तहत किए गए एक आवेदन के बाद ही ये मामला सामने आया है।
कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश सौमित्र सेन की तरफ से इस्तीफा दिए जाने के बावजूद उन पर महाभियोग की कार्रवाई जारी रहने की चर्चा भी अखबारों ने की है। हिन्दुस्तान और हरिभूमि के अनुसार राष्ट्रपति ने अभी नहीं कबूला सेन का इस्तीफा, मूल कॉपी मिलने के बाद लेंगी फैसला।
इकनोमिक टाइम्स के अनुसार-केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल अगले कुछ हफ्‌ते में राजनीति में अपराधीकरण रोकने संबंधी विधेयक पर विचार करने वाला है, जिसमें उन लोगों के चुनाव लड़ने पर पूरी तरह रोक लग जाएगी जिनके खिलाफ पुलिस आरोप पत्र दाखिल कर देगी। पत्र ने यह भी बताया है कि एन.टी.पी.सी. ने नौ सौ करोड़ रूपये का बकाया न चुकाने पर दिल्ली में बिजली सप्लाई करने वाली बीएसईएस, राजधानी और यमुना पावर को सप्लाई रोकने की चेतावनी दी है।

The Centre has ordered a CBI probe into the murder of Madhya Pradesh RTI activist Shehla Masood in Bhopal. This was disclosed by Minister of State for Department of Personnel V Narayanasamy in New Delhi yesterday. The Centre had received a letter from Madhya Pradesh government requesting for a CBI probe into the murder of Masood. Our correspondent reports that she was shot dead outside her residence in Bhopal on August 16.
The district police are still clueless about the identity of killers and motive behind the killing. The state government had announced a reward of one lakh rupees for clues leading to the attackers. Police had questioned a ruling BJP MLA and senior police official in this case. It had learnt that Shehla Masood had a telephonic conversation with BJP MP Tarun Vijay just a few hours before her murder. Sariq Noor, AIR News, Bhopal.

The Supreme Court has asked the Delhi Police to trace the source of money used to allegedly bribe some parliamentarians ahead of a confidence vote in the Lok Sabha in 2008. While asking police to trace the source of the funds, a bench of justices Aftab Alam and R M Lodha, however, refused to monitor the case further, saying the charge sheet in what is known as the cash-for-vote scam has already been filed in the court. Former Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh on whose plea the apex court had issued a number of directions in the scam pleaded the matter should not be disposed of and the apex court keep the matter pending. The Supreme Court has granted the Delhi Police four weeks to complete its investigation.

The second round of talks between ULFA and the Centre will be held in New Delhi today. This was disclosed by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in Dispur yesterday. He said, the ULFA-government meeting will decide on what lines the talks will be held and how the discussions will progress. A three-member ULFA team comprising Chitrabon Hazarika, Sashadhar Choudhury and Raju Baruah will participate in the talks. More from our correspondent
The Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) leadership will also be meeting the Central representatives in New Delhi separately to pursue their issues for settlement. Meanwhile, the State Chief Minister Mr.Tarun Gogoi has ruled out the possibility of conceding to demands for separate states being made by various militant outfits, which were in talks with the Government. Mr. Gogoi said it had been clearly told that such a demand would not be met. He said peace talks were progressing well with as many as nine underground outfits of the State. On Maoists' penetration in the state, Mr Gogoi said strict vigil was being maintained to ensure that the Left-wing extremists could not get a foothold in Assam. As part of electoral reforms, the Law Ministry will move a cabinet note seeking to bar persons facing serious criminal charges from contesting elections. This was disclosed by Law Minister Salman Khurshid in New Delhi yesterday. In an interview to Rajya Sabha TV, he said the proposed legislation will seek amendments to the Representation of People's Act. Mr Khurshid said, it also addresses some important issues such as proxy voting, financing of elections as well as financing of political parties.

Delhi government has decided to bring all its departments under the right to service act which will enable Delhiites to get their work done from government in a time bound manner. Chief Secretary PK Tripathi said that under the 'Delhi Right of Citizen to Time Bound Delivery of Services Act', government officials will have to cough up financial penalty for delay in services. Mr Tripathi yesterday held a high level meeting of all heads of departments and instructed them to gear up to strictly implement the Act.

Pakistani troops have resorted to four ceasefire violations along the Line of Control in Keran and Macchil sectors in Jammu and Kashmir since Thursday. Defence Spokesman Lt Colonel J S Brar said Pakistani troops opened unprovoked firing on Indian army positions along the LoC in these two sectors, which have emerged as favoured routes for infiltration of militants into Kashmir. He said, Indian troops exercised restraint and did not retaliate.

The European Union has imposed an embargo on oil imports from Syria, tightening the noose on President Bashar al Assad regime in retaliation to its continuing violent crackdown on anti-government protesters. The European Council said in a statement in Brussels that a ban on the import of Syrian oil into the 27-nation bloc was imposed in view of the gravity of the situation in that country and is applied to the purchase, import and transport of oil and other petroleum products.
Meanwhile, Syrian forces killed 14 people yesterday as protesters piled pressure on the regime to quit.

A group of about 40 Pakistani boys, who strayed into Afghanistan during a picnic to celebrate Eid have been kidnapped by Taliban militants, raising fears that they could be turned into suicide bombers.
A Pakistan army official said in Islamabad that the children from the age-group of 12-18 years from the restive Bajaur tribal region were kidnapped on Thursday when they crossed over in to Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province. A 'jirga' or council of tribal elders, have been sent to Afghanistan to seek their release.

Government has beefed up security in the strategically located Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands, against the backdrop of reports of increased Chinese presence in the Indian Ocean. According to an official release, Mr.P.Chidambaram said a unified command has already been set up in Andaman and Nicobar Islands to achieve strategic objectives. Addressing the meeting of the Consultative Committee attached to his Ministry, Mr. Chidambaram said that additional police forces have been sanctioned for both Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

A report on Indo-Bangladesh relations has sought closer ties between the two countries in economic and other spheres. A task force report titled "India-Bangladesh Relations: Towards Convergence", prepared by the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses was released in New Delhi on Thursday. The report has commended India’s cooperation with Bangladesh on border security issue. The panel has recommended setting up of a counter-terrorism centre in Dhaka.

Services on the Konkan Railway route continue to remain affected due to water logging on the track at Pomedi Village near Ratnagiri. Our Correspondent reports that heavy rainfall in the area has been delaying the work of restoration of services on this route.
Heavy rainfall in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra continued to disrupt Konkan Railway services for the second consecutive day today. Waterlogging on the tracks at Pomendi village near Ratnagiri had led to cancellations of several trains while routes of some trains have been diverted causing inconvenience to several passengers. Though one line was cleared last night, trains on this route are running 6 to 7 hours late. Meanwhile, alternative arrangements have been made by the Konkan Railways to accomodate passengers. Andhra Pradesh government has ordered an enquiry into infant deaths at Government General Hospital in Kurnool. Expressing serious concern over death of 10 infants in last three days, chief minister N.Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the officials to conduct a detailed enquiry into the incident and initiate stern action against hospital staff if they are found negligent in treating the infants.

Taking initiative to help the NRIs having problems back home in Punjab, the NRI wing of the Punjab Police has launched a webpage through which a troubled person can directly speak with the Inspector General of NRI Affairs or with any other officer of the Wing through the video conferencing facility or lodge a complaint.  केन्द्र सरकार और युनाइटेड लिब्रेशन फ्रन्ट ऑफ असम के बीच वार्ता का दूसरा दौर आज नई दिल्ली में शुरू हुआ। उच्च सूत्रों के अनुसार इस बैठक में दोनों पक्ष संघर्षविराम के नियम और तौर-तरीकों पर विचार विमर्श कर रहे हैं। असम के मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई ने दिसपुर में कल संवाददाताओं को बताया कि बैठक में इस बात का फैसला होगा कि बातचीत की दिशा और विचार विमर्श किस आधार पर आगे बढ़े। वार्ता में भाग ले रहे अल्फा के तीन सदस्यों के दल में चित्रबन हज+ारिका, शशधर चौधरी और राजू बरूआ शामिल हैं।
 इस बीच असम सरकार ने पश्चिम बंगाल , ओडीशा, झारखंड और बिहार से माओवादियों की घुसपैठ रोकने के लिए हाई अलर्ट जारी किया है। मुख्यमंत्री तरूण गोगोई ने दावा किया कि असम के कुछ भागों में माओवादी अल्फा के समर्थन से अपनी गतिविधियां चला रहे हैं।

 केन्द्र ने मध्य प्रदेश की सूचना अधिकार कानून कार्यकर्ता शहला मसूद की भोपाल में हुई हत्या की सीबीआई जांच के आदेश दिए हैं। कार्मिक विभाग के राज्य मंत्री वी नारायणसामी ने कल नई दिल्ली में यह जानकारी दी। केन्द्र को मध्यप्रदेश सरकार से  एक पत्र मिला था जिसमें इस हत्याकांड की सीबीआई से जांच करवाने का अनुरोध किया गया था। शहला मसूद की १६ अगस्त को भोपाल में उनके घर के बाहर गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी गई थी।

  मध्यप्रदेश में कर्फ्यूग्रस्त उज्जैन शहर में स्थिति नियंत्रण में हैं। हमारे भोपाल संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि कल रात दो समुदायों के बीच हिंसक घटनाओं में दो लोग मारे गए थे।

कल रात दो गुटों के बीच हुई झड़प के बाद उज्जैन के सभी नौ थाना क्षेत्रों में कफ्‌र्य लगा दिया गया है। पुलिस को उपद्रवियों को नियंत्रित करने के लिए लाठी चार्ज करना पड़ा और आंसू गैस के गोले छोड़ने पड़े। हिंसा की घटनाओं में दो लोगों की मौत हो गई और दस घायल हो गए। राज्य सरकार ने मृतकों के परिजनों को दो-दो लाख रूपए की आर्थिक सहायता देने की घोषणा की है। उज्जैन रेंज के पुलिस आईजी उपेन्द्र जैन ने बताया कि स्थिति अब पूरी तरह नियंत्रण में है और कड़ी चौकसी बरती जा रही है। शारिकनूर आकाशवाणी समाचार भोपाल।

 राज्यसभा सचिवालय ने अन्ना हजारे की टीम के एक और सदस्य प्रशान्त भूषण को विशेषाधिकार हनन का नोटिस जारी किया है। श्री भूषण ने हमारे संवाददाता को बताया कि उनसे इस नोटिस का जवाब १४ सितम्बर तक देने को कहा गया है। श्री भूषण ने बताया कि सांसदों के खिलाफ उनकी टिप्पणी को लेकर यह नोटिस दिया गया है। उच्चतम न्यायालय में वकील श्री भूषण ने कहा कि उन पर सांसदों के लिए अपमान जनक शब्दों का इस्तेमाल करने का आरोप लगाया गया है। श्री भूषण ने इस नोटिस को पूरी तरह अनुचित बताते हुए कहा कि उन्होंने कुछ भी गलत नहीं कहा और जो भी कहा वह जनहित में सच ही कहा था। इससे पहले, अन्ना हजारे की टीम की सदस्य पूर्व आई पी एस अधिकारी किरण बेदी को भी इसी मुद्दे पर विशेषाधिकार हनन का नोटिस दिया गया है।

 सरकार, लोगों में पोषाहार की कमी को दूर करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। नई दिल्ली में आज गेहूं और जौ अनुसंधानकर्ताओं के स्वर्ण जयन्ती कार्यक्रम में कृषि राज्य मंत्री हरीश रावत ने कहा कि देश में २०३० तक ३४ करोड़, ५० लाख टन खाद्यान्न की आवश्यकता होगी।
 कृषि वैज्ञानिकों की सराहना करते हुए श्री रावत ने कहा कि देश में विभिन्न प्रकार की कृषि जलवायु की स्थिति और अलग अलग स्थानों की विशेषता के अनुरूप गेहूं की करीब ३७८ किस्में विकसित की जा चुकी हैं।
 चार दिन की इस कार्यशाला का आयोजन भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान संस्थान और गेहूं अनुसंधान निदेशालय ने संयुक्त रूप से किया है। देश के विभिन्न अनुसंधान संस्थानों के कृषि वैज्ञानिकों के अलावा मैक्सिको तथा ऑस्ट्रेलिया के  वैज्ञानिक भी इस कार्यशाला में भाग ले रहे हैं।

 महाराष्ट्र में रत्नागिरि और निवसार के बीच पोमेंडी गांव के निकट रेल पटरियों पर कीचड़ और बाढ़ का पानी जमा हो जाने की वजह से आज लगातार दूसरे दिन कोंकण रेलवे की आवाजाही में बाधा पड़ी। इस इलाके में भारी वर्षा के कारण रेल सेवाएं बहाल करने के काम में देर हो रही है। हमारी संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि कोंकण रेलवे ने रत्नागिरि और अदावली स्टेशनों पर फंसे यात्रियों के लिए वैकल्पिक व्यवस्था की है।

महाराष्ट्र की रत्नागिरी जिले में लगातार हो रही भारी बारिश के कारण आज दूसरे दिन भी कोंकण रेल सेवा प्रभावित रही जिसके चलते कई मुसाफिरों को दिक्कतों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। रत्नागिरी के करीब पोमेंडी गांव के पास ट्रैक पर पानी और मिट्टी के जम जाने के कारण कल सुबह से कोंकण रेल सेवा प्रभावित है। आडवली और रत्नागिरी के बीच गाड़ियों की आवाजाही फिलहाल बंद है। इन दो स्टेशनों के बीच फंसे मुसाफिरों के लिए बसों की व्यवस्था की गई है। तेज बारिश के चलते कोंकण रेल सेवा बहाल करने में वक्त लग रहा है। वहीं गाड़ियों की आवाजाही की जानकारी प्राप्त करने के लिए कोंकण रेलवे द्वारा एक आपातकालीन नम्बर जारी किया गया है। ये नम्बर है- १ ० ७ २ २  पिछले २४ घंटों में रत्नागिरी जिले में १०५ मिलीमीटर बारिश दर्ज की गई है। सुमोध कोंकर के साथ स्वीटी कोठारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, मुंबई

 मुम्बई अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे का मुख्य रन-वे आज सुबह बंद कर दिया गया क्योंकि लगतार हो रही वर्षा के कारण टर्किश एयरलाइंस के विमान को खींच कर एक तरफ करने में बाधा आयी। यह विमान कल उतरते समय मुख्य हवाई पट्टी से फिसल गया था।

 अमरीकी खुफिया एजेंसी -एफ बी आई ने प्रतिबंधित आतंकवादी संगठन लश्कर-ए-तयैबा को मदद के आरोप में पाकिस्तानी मूल के अमरीकी नागरिक जुबेर अहमद को गिरफ्तार किया है। लश्कर-ए-तयैबा को मदद के आरोप में दोषी पाए जाने पर उसे पन्द्रह वर्ष और जांच के दौरान झूठे बयान देने के आरोप में आठ साल की सजा हो सकती है।

 जुआन फर्नांनडेज द्वीप समूह की ओर जा रहा चिली वायुसेना का एक विमान प्रशांत महासागर के ऊपर दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया है। विमान में चिली के एक टी वी चैनल के २१ लोग सवार थे। मीडिया की खबरों में बताया गया है कि विमान का मलबा जुआन फर्नांनडेज द्वीप के पास पाया गया है। एसोसिएट प्रेस ने कहा है कि विमान ने दो बार उतरने की कोशिश की लेकिन खराब मौसम और तेज हवाओं के कारण यह गायब हो गया।
 चिली के राष्ट्रपति सैबेस्टियन पिनेरा ने कहा है कि विमान में सवार लोगों के परिजनों के प्रति उनकी पूरी हमदर्दी है। उन्होंने कहा कि देश के लिए यह एक मुश्किल घड़ी है।

 भारत और बंगलादेश के सम्बन्धों पर जारी एक रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह की आगामी ढाका यात्रा से दोनों देशों के आपसी सम्बन्धों के एक नई ऊंचाई पर पहुंचने की उम्मीद है । इससे दोनों पक्षों के बीच महत्वपूर्ण भागीदारी बन सकती है। रक्षा अध्ययन और विशलेषण संस्थान की  रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि भारत और बंगलादेश के मजबूत संबंध दो देशों के आपसी सम्बन्धों से कहीं अधिक हैं और इन सम्बन्धों का दक्षिण एशिया क्षेत्र पर रचनात्मक प्रभाव पड़ेगा।
प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह का इस महीने की ६ और ७ तारीख को बंगलादेश की यात्रा पर जाने का कार्यक्रम है।

 संयुक्त राष्ट्र बाल कोष यूनिसेफ ने कहा है कि श्रीलंका में गृहयुद्ध के आखिरी दौर में अलग हुए परिवार के सदस्यों को फिर से मिलाने की महत्वपूर्ण परियोजना को व्यापक बनाया जा रहा है। वर्ष २००९ में संघर्ष समाप्त होने के कुछ ही महीने बाद श्रीलंका सरकार के सहयोग से यह कार्यक्रम शुरू किया गया था। हालांकि इसकी प्रगति धीमी है, लेकिन इसकी मदद से बहुत से बच्चों को उनके परिवारों से मिलाया जा चुका है। सैंकड़ों बच्चे अब भी लापता हैं और बहुत से वयस्कों का भी कोई अता पता नहीं है।

 अफगानिस्तान में नेटो के नेतृत्व वाली गठबंधन सेना के सहयोग से पांच उग्रवादियों को मार गिराया गया है। पिछले २४ घंटों के दौरान आतंकवादियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई में २४ लोगों को हिरासत में लिया गया। अफगान रक्षा मंत्रालय के एक वक्तव्य में कहा गया है कि नांगरहार, वारडक, खोस्त, गज+नी, हेलमंड और हेरात प्रान्तों में यह अभियान चलाया गया।

  इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय ने उत्तर प्रदेश के शहरी विकास विभाग के प्रधान सचिव और उत्तर प्रदेश जल निगम के महानिदेशक को नोटिस भेजकर इस महीने की ३० तारीख को अदालत में उपस्थित होने का निर्देश दिया है। न्यायमूर्ति अशोक भूषण और न्यायमूर्ति अरुण टंडन की खंडपीठ ने गंगा नदी को प्रदूषणमुक्त बनाने की एक जनहित याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए ये नोटिस जारी किए हैं। न्यायालय को सूचित किया गया है कि बार-बार आदेश दिए जाने के बावजूद चमड़ा शोधन कंपनियों से निकलने वाला दूषित पानी गंगा में पहुंचने से रोकने के लिए कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की गई है। न्यायालय को यह भी सूचना दी गई कि कानपुर और उन्नाव में जल शोधन संयंत्र काम नहीं कर रहे हैं।

  उत्तरप्रदेश में इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय के नवनियुक्त नौ अतिरिक्त न्यायाधीशों को सोमवार को शपथ दिलाई जाएगी। उन्हें मुख्य न्यायाधीश एस आर आलम शपथ दिलाएंगे।

 पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा ने दार्जिलिंग के लोगों को और स्वायत्तता देने के लिए कल गोरखालैंड स्थलीय प्रशासन विधेयक पारित किया। यह विधेयक दार्जिलिंग गोरखा पहाड़ी परिषद अधिनियम का स्थान लेगा। राज्य विधानसभा मे विधेयक पेश करते हुए संसदीय कार्य मंत्री पार्थो चटर्जी ने कहा कि इसे केन्द्र, राज्य सरकार और गोरखा जनमुक्ति मोर्चा के बीच इस वर्ष १८ जुलाई को हुए त्रिपक्षीय समझौते के अनुसार तैयार किया गया है। विधेयक पर बहस का जवाब देते हुए मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने कहा कि पर्वतीय क्षेत्र के लोगों के लिए यह एक ऐतिहासिक दिन है और इससे क्षेत्र में शांति और विकास सुनिश्चित होगा।

 पिछले कुछ दिनों की गर्मी और उमस के बाद बारिश होने से दिल्लीवासियों को आज कुछ राहत मिली। राजधानी के कई भागों में भारी वर्षा के कारण तापमान सामान्य से कम हो गया है। मौसम कार्यालय के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी के अनुसार देर रात करीब एक बजे शुरू हुई बारिश आज सुबह तक जारी रही। सुबह साढ़े आठ बजे शहर में १७ मिलीमीटर बारिश दर्ज की गई। दिल्ली में मॉनसून के इस मौसम में अब तक ४०९ दशमलव सात मिलीमीटर वर्षा दर्ज की गई है जो सामान्य से २५ प्रतिशत कम है।

The second round of talks between ULFA and the Centre began in New Delhi today. According to highly placed sources ceasefire ground rules are being discussed in the meeting.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi told reporters in Dispur yesterday that the meeting will decide on what lines the talks will be held and how the discussions will progress. A three-member ULFA team comprising Chitrabon Hazarika, Sashadhar Choudhury and Raju Baruah are participating in the talks.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has sounded a high alert to check infiltration of Maoists in the state from West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar. Mr. Gogoi claimed that Maoists are operating in some parts of Assam with the support of the ULFA.

The Centre has ordered a CBI probe into the murder of Madhya Pradesh RTI activist Shehla Masood in Bhopal. This was disclosed by Minister of State for Department of Personnel V Narayanasamy in New Delhi yesterday. The Centre had received a letter from the Madhya Pradesh government requesting for a CBI probe into the murder of Masood. She was shot dead outside her residence in Bhopal on August the 16th.

The Rajya Sabha secretariat has issued a breach of privilege notice to another team Anna member Prashant Bhushan. Mr. Bhushan told our correspondent that he has been asked to file his reply by the 14th of this month. He said that he has received notice for his remarks against Parliamentarians. A Supreme Court lawyer Mr. Bhushan said he has been accused of using derogatory words against MPs. He has termed the notice as totally unjustified. He said that he has said nothing wrong but only the truth in public interest. Earlier, team Anna member and former IPS officer Kiran Bedi also received a breach of privilege notice on the same issue.
The sex ratio in Kerala where women outnumber men is fast declining in 0-6 age group. Apart from this, the total number of children in Kerala is less than its elderly population. We have more from our correspondent:

As per Census 2011, contrary to a decade ago there are only 959 girls for 1000 boys up to the age of six. Even if it is 32 more than the national average it is a matter of serious concern. In Madhya Pradesh, the situation is under control in curfew bound Ujjain city. Our correspondent reports, two persons have been killed in the incidents of violence between two communities.
Curfew has been clamped in all the nine police station areas of Ujjain after a clash between two groups last night. The police used tear gas shells and resorted to lathi charge to quell the rioting mob. The state government has announced a relief of two lac rupees to the relatives of each victim. In Maharashtra, services on the Konkan Railway route continued to remain affected for the second consecutive day today. Our Correspondent reports that several trains have been cancelled even today causing inconvenience to passengers. Alternate arrangements have been made by Konkan Railway for passengers who have got stuck at Ratnagiri and Adavali stations.
In Maharashtra, several commuters continued to face inconvenience as Konkan Railway services remained affected due to accumulation of mud and water on tracks near Pomendi village between Ratnagiri and Nivsar. Train services remained suspended between Adavali and Ratnagiri since last morning. Special buses have been deployed between the two stations to ferry passengers as several trains have been cancelled on this route. Heavy rainfall in the area has been delaying the work of restoration of services on this route. A Konkan Railway spokesperson informed that passengers can contact the emergency telephone number 10722 for updates on train services. The main runway of the international airport in Mumbai remained shut this morning as incessant rains hampered towing away of a Turkish Airline plane stuck in mud near the taxiway. The government is committed to eliminate nutritional deficiency among people. Speaking at the golden jubilee meet of wheat and barley researchers in New Delhi, Minister of State for Agriculture Harish Rawat said India will need 345 million tonne of food grains by 2030. According to the latest estimate of the Agriculture Ministry, the country produced 241.56 million tonne of food grains in 2010-11 of which wheat's share was 85.93 million tonnes. Commending the work done by agri-scientists, Mr. Rawat said that so far 378 varieties of wheat have been released for cultivation under different agro-climatic conditions.
A 4-day workshop is being also organised by Indian Agricultural Research Institute and Directorate of Wheat research. Scientists from various farm research institutions within the country as well as scientists from Mexico and Australia are participating in the workshop.

A report on Indo- Bangladesh relations states that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s upcoming visit to Dhaka provides an opportunity to take bilateral relations between the two countries to a higher trajectory and move towards a strategic partnership. The report prepared by the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, New Delhi, states that significance of strong India-Bangladesh ties goes beyond the bilateral context and good relations between India and Bangladesh will have positive influence on the region.
The report emphasises the need to settle legacy issues and reach an agreement on river water sharing. It also calls for setting up of a counter-terrorism centre in Dhaka to address border security issues. The report released on the eve of Dr Manmohan Singh’s visit to Bangladesh states that the two sides should try to create an environment where the issue of illegal migration can be dealt with amicably.The report recommends that the two sides should explore new areas of cooperation on climate change, science and technology, IT and communication, alongwith focusing on medicine, health and disaster management. It also calls for strentheging educational ties between the two countries.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Pakistani national Jubair Ahmad having permanent legal residency in the US, on charges of supporting the banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, LeT. If convicted, he faces a maximum potential sentence of 15 years in prison on the material support charge and eight years in prison on the charge of making false statements in a terrorism-related investigation.
Meanwhile, an FBI complaint submitted before a federal US court in Virginia said, LeT is engaged in imparting commando training to its recruits, including teenagers, at its terror camps inside Pakistan, besides being involved in their religious indoctrination. The FBI said, this is reflected in the communication of Jubair Ahmad. According to admissions he made during a number of communications analysed by the FBI, he received indoctrination and training from LeT while he lived in Pakistan.

A Chilean air force plane with 21 people on board, has crashed near a remote Island. Media reports said debris from the plane has been found near the Juan Fernandez islands, where the plane was heading when it disappeared. The Associated Press said the plane went down after two landing attempts in strong winds and it disappeared from sight. Rescuers are searching the Pacific Ocean for possible survivors. Popular Chilean TV host Felipe Camiroaga and a camera crew were on board the plane. They were heading to the island for a programme on reconstruction on the island following last year's earthquake and subsequent tsunami. The Juan Fernandez islands are 670 kilometres off Chile's coast.
Authorities said a navy frigate has been sent with a helicopter to carry out search and rescue work. A Hercules 130 plane is also due to join the search shortly.

In South Korea, the demonstrators have gathered on the island of Jeju to protest at construction of a new naval base despite a court order against obstructing the work. Tensions have been rising over the past week and scuffles are reported to have broken out with police who have erected a barbed wire fence around the site. The police moved in to the site to remove protesters who have been blocking access since June. The government says the 970 million dollars development is vital for national security. But residents and activists argue that the base could spark regional tensions and is damaging to the environment. The Allahabad High Court has issued notices to the Principal Secretary Urban Development of state government and the Director General of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam directing them to appear in the court on 30th of this month. Japanese officials say Typhoon Talas has slammed into western Japan, bringing heavy rains and fierce winds. Authorities said at least one person has died and five others are missing from the effects of the storm. Officials said more than a dozen people have been injured. Talas made landfall today on the island of Shikoku and is slowly moving north. The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a warning that the heavy rains and strong winds could lead to flooding and landslides. Weather forecasters expect Talas to finish passing through Japan by tomorrow and continue heading north into the Sea of Japan.

The United Nations Children's Fund, Unicef, says that a crucial project to reunite family members separated in the last phase of Sri Lanka's civil war is being expanded. The programme, run in co-operation with the government, began in late 2009 months after the end of the war. Unicef's staff, trained in family tracing skills, have been working in two districts of northern Sri Lanka trying to locate missing children.

असम में यूनाईटेड लिबरेशन फ्रंट ऑफ असम-अल्फा के खिलाफ कार्रवाई रोकने के बारे में आज नयी दिल्ली में त्रिपक्षीय समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए। इसका उद्देश्य पूर्वोत्तर राज्य असम में शांति स्थापित करना है। समझौते पर केन्द्र और असम सरकारों के अलावा अल्फा नेताओं ने हस्ताक्षर किए। इस के अनुसार अल्फा, उग्रवाद की जटिल समस्या का राजनीतिक हल निकलने तक, किसी राष्ट्रविरोधी गतिविधि में भाग नहीं लेगा जबकि सुरक्षा बल, अल्फा कार्यकर्ताओं के खिलाफ कोई कार्रवाई नहीं करेंगे। यह समझौता राजनीतिक वार्ता के जरिए अंतिम समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर होने तक, जारी रहेगा ।
बातचीत में केन्द्र सरकार की ओर से गृह मंत्रालय के संयुक्त सचिव शंभू सिंह ने भाग लिया। असम सरकार का प्रतिनिधित्व गृह आयुक्त और अतिरिक्त पुलिस महानिदेशक ने किया।
अल्फा नेताओं के साथ बातचीत को सकारात्मक बताते हुए श्री शंभू सिंह ने कहा कि पहले दौर की बातचीत से राजनीतिक वार्ता का रास्ता तैयार हुआ है। इससे पहले अल्फा ने हिंसा त्यागने और केन्द्र तथा असम सरकार के साथ शांतिपूर्ण बातचीत के जरिए समस्या का समाधान ढूंढने के बारे में सहमति जताई थी।

वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने कहा है कि सरकार कुछ प्रमुख कृषि उत्पादों की आपूर्ति सुधारने की कोशिश कर रही है। इससे आने वाले हफ्‌तों में खाद्य मुद्रास्फीति में कुछ कमी लाने में मदद मिलेगी। उन्होंने आज कोलकाता में कहा कि खाद्य मुद्रास्फीति का दो अंकों में पहुंचना चिंता का विषय है। श्री मुखर्जी ने कहा कि इसमें कोई शक नहीं कि ये सब मौसमी प्रभाव के कारण है, लेकिन यह भी सच है कि कुछ प्रमुख कृषि उत्पादों की आपूर्ति संतोषजनक नहीं है। सरकार इस कमी को दूर करने का प्रयास कर रही है। श्री मुखर्जी ने आशा व्यक्त की कि इन उपायों से आने वाले दिनों में खाद्य पदार्थों की मंहगाई में कमी आएगी।
२० अगस्त को समाप्त हुए सप्ताह में खाद्य मुद्रास्फीति पांच महीनों के बाद दस दशमलव शून्य-पांच पर पहुंच गई। इसे देखते हुए रिजर्व बैंक द्वारा १६ सितंबर को मुद्रा नीति की समीक्षा में नीतिगत दरों में वृद्धि की आशंका व्यक्त की जा रही है।

सरकार, लोगों में पोषाहार की कमी को दूर करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। नई दिल्ली में आज गेहूं और जौ अनुसंधानकर्ताओं के स्वर्ण जयन्ती कार्यक्रम में कृषि राज्य मंत्री हरीश रावत ने कहा कि देश में २०३० तक ३४ करोड़, ५० लाख टन खाद्यान्न की आवश्यकता होगी। कृषि मंत्रालय के ताजा अनुमान के अनुसार देश में २०१०-११ में खाद्यान्न का उत्पादन २४ करोड़, १५ लाख, ६० हजार टन हुआ, जिसमें गेहूं का उत्पादन ८५ करोड़, ९३ लाख टन था।

कृषि वैज्ञानिकों की सराहना करते हुए श्री रावत ने कहा कि देश में विभिन्न प्रकार की कृषि जलवायु की स्थिति और अलग अलग स्थानों की विशेषता के अनुरूप गेहूं की करीब ३७८ किस्में विकसित की जा चुकी हैं।

कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश सौमित्र सेन का हाथ से लिखा इस्तीफा राष्ट्रपति सचिवालय को सौंप दिया गया है। सरकारी सूत्रों ने बताया है कि सौमित्र सेन के वकील ने उनका पत्र राष्ट्रपति की सचिव क्रिस्टी फर्नांडीज को सौंपा। इससे पहले सौमित्र सेन ने फैक्स के जरिए अपना त्याग पत्र भेजा था। वकील ने राष्ट्रपति से सौमित्र सेन का इस्तीफा स्वीकार करने का आग्रह किया है।

राज्यसभा सचिवालय ने अन्ना हजारे की टीम के एक और सदस्य प्रशान्त भूषण को विशेषाधिकार हनन का नोटिस जारी किया है। श्री भूषण ने हमारे संवाददाता को बताया कि उनसे इस नोटिस का जवाब १४ सितम्बर तक देने को कहा गया है। श्री भूषण ने बताया कि सांसदों के खिलाफ उनकी टिप्पणी को लेकर यह नोटिस दिया गया है। उच्चतम न्यायालय के वकील श्री भूषण ने कहा कि उन पर सांसदों के लिए अपमान जनक शब्दों का इस्तेमाल करने का आरोप लगाया गया है। इससे पहले सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता अन्ना हजारे की टीम की सदस्य पूर्व आई पी एस अधिकारी किरण बेदी को भी इसी मुद्दे पर विशेषाधिकार हनन का नोटिस दिया गया है।

मध्य प्रदेश में कर्फ्‌यूग्रस्त उज्जैन शहर में स्थिति तनावपूर्ण लेकिन नियंत्रण में है। हमारे भोपाल संवाददाता ने बताया है कि कल रात से किसी अप्रिय घटना का समाचार नहीं है।

उज्जैन रैंज के पुलिस आईजीओ ने बताया है कि स्थिति पूरी तरह नियंत्रण में है। नगर में कड़ी चौकसी बरती जा रही है और अतिरिक्त पुलिस बल तैनात किया गया है। हालांकि नगर के सभी थानाक्षेत्रों में कफ्‌र्यू जारी है। कल रात दो गुटों के साथ हुई हिंसक झड़पों में दो लोगों की मौत हो गई थी और १० घायल हो गये थे। राज्यसरकार ने मृतकों के परिजनों को दो-दो लाख रूपये मुआवजा देने की घोषणा की है।

उत्तरप्रदेश के लखीमपुर खीरी जिले में आज गोलीबारी की घटना में दो वकीलों की मौत हो गई। पुलिस प्रवक्ता के अनुसार यह घटना मोहम्मदी तहसील परिसर में हुई, जब कुछ वकीलों ने लेखपाल संघ की बैठक में कुछ टिप्पणी की। एक उत्तेजित लेखपाल ने वकीलों पर गोली चला दी। दो की मौत मौके पर ही हो गई। छह लोग घायल हो गये। प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि इस घटना के सिलसिले में ३५ लोगों को गिरतार किया गया है।
इस बीच राज्य सरकार ने इस घटना की मजिस्ट्रेट से जांच कराने का आदेश दिया है।

उधर, ओडीशा में माओवादियों ने कल देर रात मल्कानगिरी जिले में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के एक कार्यकर्ता की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी। गोलियों से छलनी उनका शव भुवनेश्वर से सात सौ किलोमीटर दूर चित्रकोंडा में एक जलाशय के निकट पाया गया। पुलिस के अनुसार एक नाव में करीब सात - आठ सशस्त्र माओवादी आये और किनारे पर बैठे हुए भाजपा कार्यकर्ता पर गोलियां चला दी। यह घटना ओडीशा के सुन्दरगढ़ जिले में राउरकेला में पांच माओवादियों के आत्म समर्पण के कुछ ही घंटे बाद हुई।

मुंबई और आस-पास के अन्य क्षेत्रों में हो रही लगातार बारिश से जान और माल को भारी नुकसान हुआ है। दक्षिण मुंबई के सेवरी क्षेत्र में पिछले कुछ दिनों से हो रही भारी बारिश के कारण एक कारखाने की दीवार गिरने से तीन बच्चों सहित पांच लोग मारे गए। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि भारी वर्षा के चलते कोंकण रेल सेवा को बहाल करने में काफी बाधा आ रही है। रेल पटरी पर पानी और कीचड़ जमा हो जाने से रेल सेवा कल सुबह से स्थगित है।

अधिकारी सूत्रों ने दी गई जानकारी के अनुसार मुम्बई से जाने वाली गडगांव गणेश उत्सव स्पेशल ट्रेन, मुम्बई-मंगलौर, मुम्बई-गडगांव जन शताब्दी और दिवा मडगांव पेसेंजर ट्रेन को रद् कर दिया गया है और मुम्बई की तरफ आने वाली हापाअर्लिकुलम, निजामुद्दीन मठगांव सम्पर्क क्रांति और मुम्बई अण्नाकुलम दुरन्तों एक्सप्रैक्स के मार्ग बदल दिये गये है। इनके अलावा दक्षिण भारत मुम्बई और दिल्ली की तरह जाने वाली कोचिलवली चंडीगड़ सम्पर्क क्रांति, त्रिरूवंतपुरम मुम्बई नेत्रावती एक्सप्रैक्स और कोच्चिवली बीकानेर एक्सप्रैक्स के मार्ग भी बदल दिये गये हैं।

उधर, कर्नाटक के कई भागों में मूसलाधार वर्षा से जनजीवन अस्त-व्यस्त हो गया है। मेडीकरी में ब्रम्हागिरी की पहाड़ियों में लगातार वर्षा से कावेरी नदी उफान पर है। इससे बागमंडला और नापोकुलु में सड़कें टूट गयीं हैं। बेल्लारी में भी मूसलाधार बारिश होने से तुंगभद्रा बांध लबालब भर गया है। बांध के ३२ गेटों से एक लाख क्युसेक से अधिक पानी छोड़ा गया है, जिससे तुंगभद्रा नदी के किनारे विश्व धरोहर स्थल हम्पी पानी से घिर गया है। आंध्र प्रदेश जाने वाली कई प्रमुख सड़कों पर पानी जमा हो जाने से गुलबर्ग और रायचुर जिले भी प्रभावित हुए हैं।

इधर राजधानी दिल्ली के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में कल देर रात हुई बारिश की वजह से तापमान में कमी आई जिससे लोगों को उमस भरी गर्मी से काफी राहत मिली। मौसम विभाग ने अगले २४ घंटों के दौरान राजधानी और आसपास के क्षेत्रों में बादल छाये रहने के साथ साथ एक या दो बार बारिश की भी संभावना व्यक्त की है।

भारत और बंगलादेश के सम्बन्धों पर जारी एक रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह की आगामी ढाका यात्रा से दोनों देशों के आपसी सम्बन्धों के एक नई ऊंचाई पर पहुंचने की उम्मीद है । इससे दोनों पक्षों के बीच महत्वपूर्ण भागीदारी बन सकती है। रक्षा अध्ययन और विशलेषण संस्थान की रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि भारत और बंगलादेश के मजबूत संबंध दो देशों के आपसी सम्बन्धों से कहीं अधिक हैं और इन सम्बन्धों का दक्षिण एशिया क्षेत्र पर रचनात्मक प्रभाव पड़ेगा।
रिपोर्ट में विरासत में मिले मुद्दों का समाधान किये जाने और नदी जल के बटवारे पर द्विपक्षीय समझौते की जरूरत पर जोर दिया गया है। इसमें सीमा की सुरक्षा से संबंधित मुद्दों को सुलझाने के लिए आतंकवाद रोधी केन्द्र ढाका में बनाये जाने की बात भी कही गई है।

पाकिस्तानी तालिबान ने करीब ३० पाकिस्तानी बच्चों के अपहरण की जिम्मेदारी ली है। ये बच्चे कल कबाइली इलाके बजौड़ से, गलती से, अफगानिस्तान की सीमा में चले गये थे। स्थानीय मीडिया ने कहा है कि १२ से १८ साल के इन बच्चों का, अफगान सीमा के पार छिपे पाकिस्तानी तालिबान ने अपहरण कर लिया।

नेपाल में मस्तिष्क पक्षाघात से पीड़ित एक महिला झमक कुमारी घिमिरे को देश का सबसे प्रतिष्ठित साहित्यिक पुरस्कार दिया गया है।
झमक न तो बोल सकती हैं और न ही कभी स्कूल गई हैं। वे अपने हाथों से कुछ नहीं कर सकतीं और अपने पैरों से लिखती हैं। उन्हें यह पुरस्कार निबन्धों की उनकी पुस्तक '' क्या जीवन कांटा है या फूल'' के लिए दिया गया है। इन निबन्धों में उन्होंने अपनी आत्मकथा बताई है। उन्होंने लिखा है कि पूर्वी नेपाल के एक परिवार में शारीरिक अक्षमता के साथ पैदा होने के बाद, अभिव्यक्ति के लिए उन्हें कैसे संघर्ष करना पड़ा।

A tripartite agreement for Suspension of Operations against United Liberation Front of Assam, ULFA was signed today in New Delhi with an objective to bring peace in the north-eastern state of Assam. The agreement was signed among the representatives of Central and Assam governments and ULFA leaders. As per the agreement, the outfit will not carry out any subversive activities till the finding of a political solution to the vexed insurgency problem while the security forces will also not take any action against the ULFA cadres. The pact will continue during the political talks and till a final agreement is signed. The Central government was represented by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Sambhu Singh while the Government of Assam was represented by the Home Commissioner and Addl. Director General of Police.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said today that the government is trying to improve supply of some critical farm products and hoped this will help moderate the double-digit food inflation in coming weeks. Mr. Mukherjee told reporters in Kolkata that food inflation has reached double digit which is a matter of concern. After a gap of over five months, food inflation entered the double-digit zone at 10.05 per cent for the week ended August 20th, which raised speculation of another hike in policy rates by RBI in mid-quarter monetary policy review scheduled on September 16th.

The government is committed to eliminate nutritional deficiency among people. Speaking at the golden jubilee meet on wheat and barley researchers in New Delhi, Minister of State for Agriculture Harish Rawat said India will need 345 million tonne of food grains by 2030. According to the latest estimate of the Agriculture Ministry, the country produced 241.56 million tonne of food grains in 2010-11 of which wheat's share was 85.93 million tonnes.

In Odisha, Maoists shot dead a worker of the opposition BJP in Malkangiri district late last night. The bullet-riddled body of the worker was found at Chitrakonda near a reservoir, about 700 km from Bhubaneswar. According to police, about seven to eight armed Maoists came in a boat and opened fire at him when he was sitting on the shore. The incident took place a few hours after five Maoists surrendered at Rourkela in Sundergarh district of Odisha.

The incessant rain in Mumbai and other neighbouring areas, has caused loss of life and property. Five people, including three children and two teenagers, in South Mumbai’s Sewri area, were killed when a wall collapsed in a mill compound due to heavy rain for the last few days. The children were playing in the area. In another incident, fishermen from Alibaug with their three boats have gone missing in the sea due to rough weather conditions. Incessant rain is creating a major hurdle in the restoration work of Konkan railway at Pomandi in Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra. Due to heavy accumulation of water and mud in the rail tracks, the rail services have been stopped since yesterday morning. According to the official sources Mumbai down trains including Margaon-Ganesh Utasv special train, Mumbai-Mangalore, Mumbai-Margaon Janshatabdi and Deeva-Margaon passenger trains are among some of the trains that have ben cancelled.

The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for kidnapping some 30 Pakistani children after they mistakenly crossed into Afghanistan from the north-western tribal area of Bajaur Agency yesterday. Local media said, the children aged between 12 to 18, were abducted by militants of the Pakistani Taliban hiding on the Afghan side along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border area after the children got lost on their way on a picnic. Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik has contacted his Afghan counterpart for the release of the kidnapped children. So far, none of the kidnapped children have been released.

Communal clashes have claimed dozens of lives in Nigeria's sensitive Jos city where residents have blamed soldiers for causing a number of casualties by shooting indiscriminately. Fresh violence broke out in the city on Thursday, assumed to be a continuation of the fracas that occurred on Eid day, and inhabitants said, as many as 42 people were killed from the Christian and Muslim communities. They claimed that soldiers who came in to control the situation did most of the killings by shooting into the rampaging crowd.

The Allahabad High Court has issued notices to the Principal Secretary Urban Development of Uttar Pradesh government and the Director General of Jal Nigam directing them to appear in the court on the 30th of this month. A division bench of the court comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Arun Tandon has issued the notices to them while hearing a Public Interest litigation to makeup Ganga pollution free. This order was passed by the bench, as it was informed to the court that in spite of the repeated orders passed by the court, no action was taken.
