सरकार और राजनीतिक दलों ने भारत में निवेश के माहौल पर अमरीका के राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा की चिंताएं खारिज कर दी हैं। कॉरपोरेट कार्य मंत्री वीरप्पा मोइली ने कहा कि कुछ अंतर्राष्ट्रीय लॉबी ऐसी बातें फैला रहीं हैं और अमरीकी राष्ट्रपति को भारत की अर्थव्यवस्था की मजबूत नींव के बारे में सही जानकारी नहीं है। श्री मोइली ने कल बेंगलूर में बताया कि भारत में निवेश का माहौल बिगड़ने की धारणा आर्थिक मानकों पर आधारित नहीं है बल्कि यह कुछ व्यक्तियों, उद्यमियों और निवेशकों की राय है।
श्री मोइली ने कहा कि भारत में कोई आर्थिक संकट नहीं है जबकि अमरीका और अन्य देशों ने वर्ष २००८ और २०१० में दो बार ऐसी समस्याओं का सामना किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत में कोई भी वित्तीय संस्था दिवालिया नहीं हुई जबकि अमरीका और अन्य देशों में ऐसी अनेक घटनाएं हुई।
विपक्षी दलों ने भी श्री ओबामा की इस टिप्पणी की आलोचना की है कि भारत कई क्षेत्रों में विदेशी निवेश की अनुमति नहीं दे रहा है। भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेता यशवंत सिन्हा ने कहा कि भारत सिर्फ अमरीकी राष्ट्रपति के चाहने से विदेशी निवेश के लिए अपने बाजार नहीं खोल सकता।
मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के नेता नीलोत्पल बसु ने कहा है कि अमरीका चाहता है कि भारत अपनी अर्थव्यवस्था और बाजार को उसकी शर्तों पर खोले, इसलिए। भारत पर दबाव डाला जा रहा है।
भारतीय कार्पोरेट जगत ने अमरीकी राष्ट्रपति के बयान पर प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त करते हुए कहा है कि भारत अब भी निवेश का एक सुदृढ़ क्षेत्र बना हुआ है और लंबी अवधि में उसके आर्थिक विकास की संभावनाएं मजबूत हैं। औद्योगिक संगठन एसोचेम के महासचिव डी एस रावत ने कहा कि अनेक विकसित देशों की अपेक्षा भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था बेहतर प्रदर्शन कर रही है।
एक अन्य औद्योगिक संगठन-सी आई आई के महानिदेशक चंद्रजीत बनर्जी ने कहा है कि विश्वव्यापी आर्थिक अनिश्चितताओं के बावजूद भारत की अर्थव्यवस्था छह प्रतिशत की दर से बढ़ रही है।

नेपाल के नवलपरासी जिले में कल हुई बस दुर्घटना में ३६ भारतीय सहित ३९ लोग मारे गये हैं। २७ यात्री अब भी लापता हैं। मरने वालों में २८ पुरूष १० महिलाएं और पांच वर्ष की एक बच्ची है।
सुस्ता में एक सौ से अधिक तीर्थयात्रियों को ले जा रही बस के सड़क से फिसलकर गंडक नहर में गिरने से यह दुर्घटना हुई। ३९ शवों में से ३७ की पहचान हो चुकी है।

खचाखच यात्रियों से भरे हुए बस नवलपारसी जिले के जिले के झूूलनपुर से त्रिवेणी जा रहे थे। ज्यादातर उत्तर प्रदेश के महाराजगंज जिले के तीर्थयात्री सवार थे। वे लोग सावन महीने के बोलबम पूजा के लिए त्रिवेणी धाम जा रहे थे। पुलिस के अनुसार बस चालक के नियंत्रण से बाहर हुआ जब दूसरी तरफ गाड़ियों को रास्ता दे रहे थे। घटनास्थल नेपाल-भारत सीमा से सिर्फ सात किलोमीटर के दूरी पर है।  जेन नामचू आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए।

उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव ने मारे गये लोगों के परिजनों के लिए एक-एक लाख रूपये की अनुग्रह राशि देने की घोषणा की है। नई दिल्ली में विदेश मंत्रालय ने बताया कि नेपाली अधिकारी घटनास्थल पर पहुंच गये हैं तथा राहत और बचावकार्यों की देखरेख कर रहे हैं। भारतीय दूतावास ने नेपाली अधिकारियों की मदद के लिए घटनास्थल पर चिकित्सक सहित विशेष टीम भेजी है। काठमांडु स्थित भारतीय दूतावास में सूचना केन्द्र और नियंत्रण कक्ष बनाया गया है। जिसके टेलीफोन नम्बर हैं, ०० ९७७ १ ४४१२१२५  और ०० ९७७ १ ४४११६९९, एक्सटेंशन- ४१०९।

उपराष्ट्रपति चुनाव में अपना उम्मीदवार तय करने के लिए राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन-एनडीए के सहयोगी दलों की बैठक आज होगी। भारतीय जनता पार्टी के महासचिव अनंत कुमार ने बताया कि पार्टी ने चुनाव में अपना उम्मीदवार खड़ा करने का फैसला किया है। शनिवार को नई दिल्ली में भाजपा कोर ग्रुप की बैठक के बाद उन्होंने कहा कि एनडीए  सहयोगी दलों से विचार विमर्श के बाद ही अपने उम्मीदवार की घोषणा करेगा।
सत्तारूढ़ संयुक्त प्रगतिशील गठबंधन-यूपीए ने उपराष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी को दूसरे कार्यकाल के लिए उम्मीदवार बनाया है। उपराष्ट्रपति चुनाव के लिए नामांकन भरने की आखिरी तारीख २० जुलाई है। मतदान अगले महीने की ७ तारीख को होगा।

राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए यू पी ए के उम्मीदवार प्रणब मुखर्जी ने पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री और तृणमूल कांग्रेस प्रमुख ममता बनर्जी से अपने लिए औपचारिक रूप से समर्थन मांगा है। श्री मुखर्जी ने इस संबंध में सुश्री ममता बनर्जी को पत्र लिखा है। सुश्री बनर्जी ने कहा कि चुनाव से २-३ दिन पहले पार्टी इस सबंध में फैसला करेगी। राष्ट्रपति चुनाव १९ जुलाई को है। तृणमूल कांग्रेस ने अपनी पार्टी के सभी सांसदों और विधायकों को १८ जुलाई को कोलकाता में मौजूद रहने को कहा है।

असम में सोमवार रात को एक किशोरी से छेड़छाड़ के मामले में गिरफ्‌तार लोगों की संख्या बढ़कर सात हो गई है। असम पुलिस ने तीन और लोगों को गिरफ्‌तार किया है। कामरूप मेट्रो के वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधीक्षक अपूर्व जीवन बरुआ ने कल बताया कि छह लोग अब भी फरार हैं।
इस बीच, राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग के दो सदस्यों का दल कल दिल्ली वापस आ गया है। समझा जाता है कि दल आज आयोग की अध्यक्ष को अपनी रिपोर्ट देगा।

मध्य प्रदेश विधानसभा का मॉनसून सत्र आज से राजधानी भोपाल में शुरू हो रहा है। १२ दिन तक चलने वाले सत्र में १० बैठकें होंगी। इस दौरान राज्य सरकार लगभग ६ विधेयक पेश करेगी। हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार सत्र के हंगामेदार होने की संभावना है।

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय रेड क्रॉस समिति ने सीरिया में जारी संघर्ष को औपचारिक रूप से गृह युद्ध घोषित कर दिया है। समिति ने कहा है कि सीरिया में संघर्ष इतना व्यापक हो गया है कि वहां गृह युद्ध की स्थिति बन गई है। इसका मतलब यह होगा कि अब सीरिया में लड़ाकों पर जिनेवा संधि आधिकारिक रूप से लागू होगी और उन्हें युद्ध अपराधों का सामना करना होगा। इससे पहले रेड क्रॉस ने इदलिब, होम्स और हमा शहर को ही युद्धग्रस्त क्षेत्र घोषित किया था। इस बीच सीरिया सरकार ने उस दावे का खण्डन किया है, जिसमें कहा गया था कि पिछले सप्ताह युद्ध में सेना ने भारी हथियारों का इस्तेमाल किया था।

लंदन ऑलम्पिक खेलों की उल्टी गिनती शुरू हो गई है। खेलों का उद्घाटन समारोह इस महीने की २७ तारीख को होगा। आज हम नज+र डाल रहे हैं खेलों के इतिहास पर।

पहले आधुनिक ओलंम्पिक खेल एथेंस में १८९६ में आयोजित हुए जहां १४ देशों के २४१ एथलीटों ने भाग लिया। चार साल पहले पेइचिंग में २ सौ देशों के ग्यारह हजार से ज्यादा एथलीटों ने पदकों पर अपनी दावेदारी पेश की और अब २७ जुलाई से १२ अगस्त तक होने वाले ३०वें ग्रीष्मकालीन ओलंपिक्स की २६ स्पर्धाओं में लगभग ११ हजार एथलीट लंदन में मौजूद होंगे। ओलंपिक खेलों के प्रतीक चिन्ह के रूप में आपस में जुड़े हुए पांच छल्लों को दिखाया जाता है जो विश्व के पांच महाद्वीपों के जुड़ाव को प्रदर्शित करते हैं। ओलंपिक खेलों की मशाल और टार्च रिले की शुरूआत भी प्राचीन ओलंपिक खेलों से जुड़ी हुई है। शांति, एकता और मित्रता का संदेश देने वाली ओलंपिक मशाल को ओलंपिया में आयोजित एक पारंपरिक समारोह में सूर्य की किरणों से प्रज्जवलित किया जाता है। उसके बाद मशाल को मेजवान देश को सौंपी जाती है और आमतौर पर ये मशाल धावकों के माध्यम से अलग-अलग देशों और जगहों से गुजरते हुए आयोजन स्थल तक पहुंचती है।

भारतीय ओलम्पिक संघ ने घोषणा की है कि पहलवान सुशील कुमार लंदन ओलम्पिक खेलों में भारतीय दल के ध्वज वाहक होंगे। सुशील कुमार ने २००८ में पेइचिंग ओलम्पिक खेलों में कांस्य पदक जीता था।

The government and various political parties have dismissed US President Barack Obama's concerns over what he called the deteriorating investment climate in India. Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily said that certain international lobbies are spreading such stories and the US President is not properly informed about the country's strong economic fundamentals. Mr Moily told reporters in Bangalore yesterday that the perception of the deteriorating investment climate in India is not based on economic parameters, but on the impression of a few individuals, entrepreneurs and investors. Opposition parties have also criticised Mr Obama for his remarks that India prohibits foreign investment in too many sectors. BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said that the country cannot open its markets just because the US President wants it.
CPI-M leader Nilotpal Basu also echoed similar sentiments. He said, the
US wants India to open up its economy and market on their terms and that is the reason they are creating this pressure. Acknowledging that the nation lagged in reforms in sectors like retail, aviation, defence and insurance, India Inc said Obama or any other person cannot be  dictating Indian  government or Indian policy makers. Industry chamber Assocham Secretary General D S Rawat said the US also has a lot of  limitations  like the recent restrictions imposed on BPOs. In an interview to PTI yesterday, Mr Obama had said that India prohibited foreign investment in too many sectors such as retail.

At least 39 people including 36 Indians were killed in a bus accident in Nawalparasi district of Nepal yesterday. 27 passengers of the ill-fated bus are still missing. The victims include 28 men, 10 women and a five-year-old girl. Our correspondent reports that 37 of the 39 bodies have been identified so far.

"The over crowded bus heading for Triveni from Jhulanipur in the border district had pilgrims going for the religious Shrawan Sankrirt fair when it lost control and plunged into the canal . Media reports put the number of passengers at more than hundred. Most of the victims are from the neighbouring villages of Maharajgunj district in Uttar Pradesh. Police suspect that the accident took place as the bus was overcrowded and the driver lost control of the vehicle while making way for oncoming vehicles. The National Democratic Alliance, NDA partners will meet today to discuss their candidate for the Vice Presidential poll. BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar said that the party has decided to field a candidate in the election. After a BJP Core Group meeting in New Delhi on Saturday, he said that the NDA will announce its candidate after due deliberations and consultations with its allies. The ruling UPA on Saturday nominated Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari for a second term. Union Agriculture Minister and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan and BSP supremo Mayawati have also announced their support to Hamid Ansari's candidature.

UPA Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee has formally sought Trinamool Congress Chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's support in the Presidential poll. She said the party will take a decision on the issue 2-3 days before the July 19 poll. The two member team of the National Commission for Women which investigated the molestation incident of a girl in Guwahati, is likely to submit its report today to the Chairperson of the Commission. Our correspondent reports that 7 persons have been arrested so far while six are still absconding.

Assam government also formed a committee to enquire the issue. A Special Task Force has been formed to look into the matter. The International Committee of the Red Cross, has formally declared the Syrian conflict a civil war. It said, the fighting in Syria is so widespread that the conflict is now in effect a civil war. The change in status means combatants will now be officially subject to the Geneva Conventions, leaving them more exposed to war crimes prosecutions. The Red Cross had previously regarded only the areas around Idlib, Homs and Hama as war zones.

The countdown for the start of the London Olympic Games has begun.  The opening ceremony will be held on the 27th of July. Today we take a look at the history of the Games.

Jeev Milkha Singh won the Scottish Open golf championship after a playoff with Italy's Francesco Molinari yesterday. Singh began the day five shots off the lead but hit a final round 67 to force a playoff with overnight pace-setter Molinari. He then hit a 12-foot birdie putt at the first extra hole to win his fourth European Tour title and a cheque of 5.18 lakh euros. The 40-year-old took the last qualifying place for next week's British Open.

US President Barack Obama's interview to the Press Trust of India is prominently covered today with most papers highlighting his concerns over restrictions on foreign investments in India. The papers also draw attention to President Obama's comments about Kashmir. The Times of India quotes him as saying "No solution from outside on J&K".
Political manouevering for the forthcoming vice presidential poll is keenly noticed in the papers. Commenting on BJP leader Jaswant Singh's prospects, the Indian Express writes "Jaswant likely to be NDA's candidate for VP election". The Asian Age reports "Sena, JDU may go with NDA on VP".
A front page story of the Asian Age reveals how naxals have developed a hi-tech weapons testing laboratory similar to the ones used by the defence forces where they test weapons like rocket launchers and a range of booby traps.
In international news, the Times of India, the Tribune and the Indian Express report that the Pakistan Peoples Party and the main opposition PML-N are close to striking a deal to name noted human rights lawyer Asma Jahangir as a consensus caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan.

भारतीय जनता पार्टी नेता जसवंत सिंह, उपराष्ट्रपति चुनाव में एनडीए के उम्मीदवार होंगे। नई दिल्ली में आज एन डी ए की बैठक में यह फैसला किया गया। बैठक के बाद वरिष्ठ भाजपा नेता लाल कृष्ण आडवाणी ने कहा कि एन डी ए जसवंत सिंह के लिए ऑल इंडिया अन्ना-डी एम के, बीजू जनता दल और अन्य दलों से समर्थन मांगेगा।

सर्वसम्मति से जो दूसरा नाम आया, वो था जसवंत सिंह जी का और निर्णय के रूप में मैं कह सकता हूॅं कि आज एनडीए के बैठक में इसमें सभी घटक उपस्थित थे। उन्होंने सर्वसम्मत निर्णय किया कि कांग्रेस पार्टी के प्रत्याशी का विरोध किया जाए।

उन्होंने यू पी ए की सहयोगी पार्टी तृणमूल कांग्रेस से इस बारे में बातचीत करने की संभावना से इंकार नहीं किया। श्री जसवंत सिंह ने कहा कि वे गैर-एन डी ए पार्टियों से समर्थन मांगेंगे।
सत्तारूढ़ यू पी ए ने उपराष्ट्रपति चुनाव में श्री हामिद अंसारी को अपना उम्मीदवार बनाया है। वे उपराष्ट्रपति पद के लिए दूसरी बार चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं।
मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी और फॉरवर्ड ब्लॉक ने श्री हामिद अंसारी का समर्थन करने की घोषणा की, जबकि आर एस पी ने मतदान से अनुपस्थित रहने का फैसला किया है। भारतीय कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी  बुधवार को फैसला लेगी।

देश की सुरक्षा की चुनौतियों के मद्देनजर सरकार ने दस सदस्यीय उच्चस्तरीय समिति बनाई है, जो संबंधित एजेंसियों के बीच समन्वय का काम करेगी और सुरक्षा से जुड़े क्षेत्रों में आवश्यक रणनीतिक टेक्नोलॉजी की पहचान करेगी। सरकारी विज्ञप्ति में आज कहा गया  कि इस समिति का नाम रणनीतिक सुरक्षा टेक्नोलॉजी समन्वय ग्रुप-एस एस टी सी जी होगा और यह अन्य बातों के अलावा आतंकवाद-विरोधी, सीमा सुरक्षा, बंदरगाह और उड्डयन सुरक्षा पर ध्यान देगी। इसका गठन देश की विभिन्न कानून लागू करने वाली एजेंसियों की क्षमता बढ़ाने के लिए किया गया है। यह ग्रुप आपात तैयारियों, जैविक, रेडियोधर्मी और रसायन प्रभाव की रोकथाम के लिए नई टेक्नोलॉजी का अध्ययन करेगा और सुझाव देगा।

सरकार ने अंतरदेशीय जलमार्ग क्षेत्र की क्षमता का पता लगाने और इसके लिए धन जुटाने के वास्ते निजी क्षेत्र से सम्पर्क करने का फैसला किया है। प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय के निर्देश पर इस बारे में एक समिति बनाई गई है, जो निवेश के क्षेत्रों का पता लगाएगी और निजी क्षेत्र से निवेश बढ़ाने के लिए बातचीत करेगी। एक सरकारी बयान में कहा गया है कि समिति बुनियादी ढांचे और परिवहन दोनों में निजी क्षेत्र के निवेश के लिए नए क्षेत्रों की पहचान का प्रयास करेगी। यह समिति बहुपक्षीय बिजनेस मॉडल की भी पहचान करेगी, जिसे बाद में रियायती दरों पर दूसरे को दिया जा सकता है। इसके लिए मॉडल रियायत समझौते किए जाएंगे, ताकि निवेश में तेजी लायी जा सके।
योजना आयोग के सचिव समिति के अध्यक्ष होंगे तथा जहाजरानी मंत्रालय के सचिव, भारतीय जलमार्ग प्राधिकरण के महानिदेशक तथा आर्थिक मामलों के विभाग के प्रतिनिधि इसके सदस्य होंगे।

नागर विमानन महानिदेशालय ने सभी विमान कंपनियों से कहा है कि वे यह सुनिश्चित करें कि उनके किराये फेयर बैंड के अनुरूप हों। पिछले कुछ दिनों से विमान किराए में बढ़ोतरी की खबरों के कारण महानिदेशालय ने ऐसा कहा है। नागर विमानन मंत्रालय ने नई दिल्ली में जारी वक्तव्य में कहा है कि महानिदेशालय ने विमान किरायों का अध्ययन किया है और वह इस नतीजे पर पहुंचा है कि विभिन्न घरेलू विमान कंपनियों के किराये फेयर बैंड के अनुसार ही हैं।

दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय ने एयर इंडिया के पायलटों की हड़ताल के दौरान निलंबित एक सौ एक पायलटों की बहाली के लिए सुलह सफाई की प्रक्रिया शुरू करने में देरी के लिए एयर इंडिया को फटकार लगाई है। न्यायालय ने एयर इंडिया प्रबंधन से कहा है कि वह बुधवार तक बताये कि क्या इसके लिए बनाई गयी उच्चाधिकार समिति चार सप्ताह के अंदर फैसला कर लेगी।

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने १९९६ में भोजपुर जिले के बथानी टोला में रणवीर सेना द्वारा अनुसूचित जाति के २१ लोगों की हत्या में शामिल, २३ आरोपियों को बरी करने के खिलाफ, बिहार सरकार की अपील को आज विचार के लिए स्वीकार कर लिया। पटना उच्च न्यायालय के १६ अप्रैल के फैसले के खिलाफ राज्य सरकार और कुछ मृतकों के परिजनों द्वारा दायर याचिका पर न्यायमूर्ति अल्तमस कबीर और जे. चेल्मेश्वर की पीठ ने बरी किए गए सभी आरोपियों को नोटिस जारी किया है।
पटना उच्च न्यायालय ने इस मामले में तीन लोगों को मृत्युदंड और बीस अन्य लोगों को आजीवन कारावास की सजा को रद्द कर दिया था। भोजपुर की जिला अदालत ने मई, २०११ में २३ आरोपियों को इन हत्याओं  का दोषी ठहराया था।

प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ने हथियारों के व्यापारी अभिषेक वर्मा पर मनी लाउंड्रिंग का एक नया मामला दर्ज किया है। निदेशालय, स्विट्जरलैंड की एक कंपनी को सरकार की प्रतिबंधित सूची से बाहर रखने की एवज में पैसे लेने के आरोप के मामले में उसकी जांच कर रहा है। उसे केंद्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो- सी बी आई गिरफतार कर चुका है। प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ने सी बी आई द्वारा दायर एफ आई आर के आधार पर मनी लाउंड्रिंग निरोधक कानून के तहत नयी शिकायत दर्ज कराई है। अभिषेक वर्मा पर आरोप है कि उसने एक घोटाले के बाद स्विट्जरलैंड की कंपनी पर प्रतिबंध लगाने की सरकार की कार्रवाई को रोकने के लिए पांच लाख तीस हजार डालर रिश्वत ली थी।

गुजरात की एक अदालत ने विशेष जांच दल के ए. के. मल्होत्रा द्वारा उच्चतम न्यायालय में दायर प्रारंभिक रिपोर्ट प्राप्त करने की जाकिया जाफरी की मांग को आज खारिज कर दिया। २००२ के दंगे के सिलसिले में गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी के खिलाफ जाकिया जाफरी की शिकायत पर उच्चतम न्यायालय ने विशेष जांच दल बनाया था।

हैदराबाद में सी बी आई की विशेष अदालत ने आय से अधिक सम्पत्ति  मामले में कडप्पा सांसद जगनमोहन रेड्डी और उनके अकाउंटेंट विजया साईरेड्डी का नार्को परीक्षण करने की सी बी आई की याचिका को आज खारिज कर दिया। जगनमोहन रेड्डी को २७ मई को गिरफ्तार किया गया था।

उत्तराखण्ड उच्च न्यायालय ने मधुमिता शुक्ला हत्याकांड में अमरमणि त्रिपाठी, उनकी पत्नी मधुमणि त्रिपाठी और दो अन्य लोगों की आजीवन कारावास की सजा बरकरार रखी है। मुख्य न्यायाधीश बरिन घोष और न्यायमूर्ति यू एस ध्यानी की पीठ ने प्रकाश पांडेय को भी उम्र कैद की सजा दी, जिसे देहरादून में सी बी आई की अदालत ने सबूतों के अभाव में बरी कर दिया था।

आर्थिक जगत की खबरें

बॉम्बे स्टॉक एक्सचेंज में कल लगातार चौथे दिन गिरावट दर्ज की गई। मॉनसून के बारे में चिंता और खाद्य वस्तुओं के मूल्य बढ़ने की वजह से सेंसेक्स एक सौ दस अंक गिरकर १७ हजार एक सौ तीन पर बंद हुआ। नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का निफ्‌टी तीस अंक गिरकर पांच हजार एक सौ ९७ पर जा पहुंचा। इधर देश में डॉलर के मुकाबले रूपया १६ पैसे कमजोर हुआ। एक डॉलर का मूल्य ५५ रूपये तीस पैसे रहा। अमरीका में कच्चे तेल का वायदा मूल्य ६४  सेंट कम होकर ८६ डॉलर ४६ सेंट प्रति बैरल रहा, जबकि ब्रैंट क्रुड का मूल्य १०३ डॉलर प्रति बैरल से कुछ कम रहा।

मुद्रास्फीति की दर जून के महीने में कम होकर सात दशमलव दो-पांच प्रतिशत रह गई। ऐसा विनिर्मित वस्तुओं के दाम घटने के कारण हुआ। हालांकि सब्जियों, गेहूं और दालों के दाम बढ़े। थोक मूल्य सूचकांक पर आधारित मुद्रास्फीति की दर मई में सात दशमलव पॉंच-पॉंच प्रतिशत थी। जून में खाद्य मुद्रास्फीति में वृद्धि हुई और यह दस दशमलव आठ-एक प्रतिशत रही, जो मई में दस दशमलव सात-चार प्रतिशत थी।
वित्त राज्यमंत्री नमोनारायण मीणा ने कहा है कि खाद्य पदार्थों की आपूर्ति में सुधार होने से मुद्रास्फीति की दर में गिरावट जारी रहने की उम्मीद है।

लंदन ओलंपिक खेलों की उलटी गिनती की कड़ी में आज प्रस्तुत है खेलों के महाकुंभ ओलंपिक में अब तक की भारतीय भागीदारी की जानकारी।

खेलों के इस महाकुंभ में भारतीय भागीदारी १९०० में शुरू हुई और उसमें धावक नोर्मन प्रिचर्ड ने दो पदक भारतीय झोली में डाले। ग्रीष्मकालीन खेलों में उपस्थिति के साथ हमने १९६४ तक विभिन्न विन्टर ओलम्पिक में भी हिस्सा लिया। आठ ओलम्पिक तक हॉकी के बेताज बादशाह रहे भारत ने अब तक बीस पदक अपने नाम किये हैं। १९२८ से १९८० तक भारतीय पुरूष टीम ने १२ ओलम्पिक खेलों में ११ पदक जीतकर अपना दबदबा कायम रखा, जिनमें से १९२८ से १९५६ तक लगातार ६ स्वर्ण पदक हमारे ही नाम रहे। हालांकि १९८० में हॉकी के स्वर्ण के बाद यह सिलसिला रूक गया। १९९६ में लिएण्डर पेस के एटलांटा ओलम्पिक में टेनिस और २००० में सिडनी में महिला वेट लिफ्‌टर कर्णम मल्लेश्वरी के कांस्य पदक के बाद २००८ के पेइचिंग में जहां निशानेबाज अभिनव बिन्द्रा ने स्वर्ण जीतकर इतिहास रचा, वहीं मुक्केबाज विजेन्द्र और पहलवान सुशील कुमार ने भी कांस्य पदक जीतकर नई संभावनाओं के द्वार खोले। यह हमारा अब तक का हमारा सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन रहा। इस बार ८१ खिलाड़ियों का सबसे बड़ा दल अपनी चुनौती पेश करेगा और उम्मीद है कि इस बार पदकों की संख्या भी कहीं ज्यादा होगी,

सीमा सुरक्षा बल ने बीती रात पाकिस्तान से वर्जित पदार्थ की तस्करी के प्रयास को अमृतसर में विफल कर दिया । बल ने इसके चार पैकेट जब्त किये हैं। चार किलोग्राम के इस वर्जित पदार्थ के हेरोइन होने का संदेह है। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाजार में इसकी कीमत लगभग बीस करोड़ रूपये है।
पिछले दस दिन में पाकिस्तान के तस्करों की यह ऐसी दूसरी कोशिश है। इससे पहले उन्होंने फिरोजपुर में लगभग तीन किलोग्राम हेरोइन की तस्करी की कोशिश की थी। हमारे जालंधर संवाददाता ने बताया है कि सीमा सुरक्षाबल ने तस्करों के खिलाफ अपने अभियान के दौरान इस वर्ष अब तक पंजाब में पाकिस्तानी सीमा के निकट के विभिन्न जिलों से लगभग १९५ किलोग्राम हेरोइन बरामद की है।

नेपाल में आज सवेरे धाडिंग जिले में बस दुर्घटना में मरने वालों की संख्या सोलह हो गयी है। तेरह लोग दुर्घटना स्थल पर ही मारे गये और तीन ने काठमांडू के अस्पताल में दम तोड़ा । बस उदयपुर जिले से काठमांडू जाते समय कृष्णाभीर के निकट त्रिशूली नदी में गिर गयी। पुलिस के अनुसार लापता लोगों की तलाश जारी है।

कृषि मंत्री शरद पवार ने कहा है कि देश में अभी सूखे के हालात नहीं बने हैं, लेकिन सरकार ने  मानसून की कम वर्षा की स्थिति से निपटने के लिए आपात योजना तैयार कर ली है। श्री पवार नई दिल्ली में भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद के ८४वें स्थापना दिवस समारोह के मौके पर संवाददाताओं से बातचीत कर रहे थे।

Mr. Jaswant Singh will be the NDA Candidate for the Vice Presidential poll.  A decision to this effect was taken unanimously in the meeting of the combine in New Delhi today. After the meeting of the NDA partners, the working Chairman of the Combine, L.K.Advani said that the NDA will also seek support of parties like the AIADMK, BJD and others in support of Mr. Jaswant Singh,who later said that he will reach out to the non-NDA parties to seek their support. The ruling UPA has fielded Mr. Hamid Ansari for the poll.
Sixteen nominations have been filed till today for the  Vice Presidential election, 2012. Two nomination papers have been rejected so far.

 The National Commisson for Women, NCW  today removed Ms Alka Lamba from the three member probe panel which was sent by the NCW to investigate the molestation case in Guwahati. Talking to AIR, the Chairperson of the NCW, Mamta Sharma confirmed the development. Her removal came in the wake of the controversy which broke out today over  allegedly making public the identity of the girl molested in Guwahati.

With the country's security environment facing constant challenges, a high-level 10-member group has been constituted by the Government for effective coordination among the agencies concerned and also identifying strategic technologies required in security-related areas. An official order said today that the Committee named as Strategic Security Technology Coordination Group will deal with counter-terrorism, border security, ports and aviation security among other sectors.
It has been set up with an aim to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the countries various law enforcement agencies. The group will also study and suggest newer technologies for emergency preparedness and response, biological, radiological and chemical agent prevention and for gathering domestic and foreign intelligence.

The Supreme Court today admitted the Bihar government's appeal against  the acquittal of 23 people, allegedly involved in the 1996 carnage of 21 dalits  at Bathani Tola in Bhojpur district of the state by the Ranvir Sena. On the appeals filed by the state government and also the family members of some of the victims against the Patna High Court's April 16 ruling, a bench of  justices Altamas Kabir and J Chelameshwar issued notices to all the acquitted accused.
The high court had set aside the death sentences, awarded to three persons and the life terms to 20 others for the killings allegedly by the Ranvir Sena on July 11, 1996 at Bathani Tola under Sahar block in Bhojpur district. A Bhojpur court had in May 2011 held the 23 accused guilty of killing the dalits.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a fresh money laundering case against arms dealer Abhishek Verma in its probe against him for allegedly receiving money from a Swiss defence firm to keep it out of the Government's blacklist.  Verma has already been arrested by the CBI in this case.  The ED has registered the fresh complaint, under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act based on the contents of the FIR lodged by the CBI. 
The agency has begun a probe on the basis of the CBI complaint against Verma where he has been accused of taking five lakh thirty thousand US dollars from a Swiss firm for using influence to stall the blacklisting proceedings initiated by the Government against it after the Ordnance Factory Board scam had surfaced.

A CBI special Court in Hyderabad today dismissed a petition by the CBI seeking permission to conduct narco analysis tests on Kadapa Lok Sabha Member Jaganmohan Reddy and his accountant Vijaya Saireddy in connection with the disproportionate assets case against them.
The Principle special judge Durga Prasad said as per the Supreme Court’s guidelines, narco analysis and other scientific test should not be conducted on the accused without their consent. The CBI has filed the petition for conducting narco analysis tests against the accused saying that they were not cooperating for the investigation.

A Gujrat court today rejected Zakia Jafri's demand for access to the preliminary report filed by A K Malhotra of the Special Investigation Team in the Supreme Court during the inquiry into her complaint against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and others with regard to the 2002 riots. The Metropolitan Magistrate  also rejected the plea of social activist Teesta Setalvad, seeking permission to inspect  the original documents submitted by the SIT with its closure report.

The Delhi High Court today pulled up Air India for sitting over the conciliation process for reinstatement of its 101 pilots whose services were terminated for going on strike. The court also asked the AI management to inform it by Wednesday if the high-power committee, set up by it, would decide the issue within four weeks.

The Government today said that it has narrowed down major differences over the proposed anti-corruption bill Lokpal and is committed to get the legislation passed in Parliament.  Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V Narayanasamy told PTI today that   There are only three-four issues to which there is opposition and efforts are on to sort it out.

Inflation declined to 7.25 per cent in June as prices of manufactured items eased a little, although vegetables, wheat and pulses became costlier. Inflation, as measured by the Wholesale Price Index, was 7.55 per cent in May. Overall food inflation rose to 10.81 per cent in June, from 10.74 per cent in May.
In the manufactured items category, prices of cotton textile, rubber and plastic products, iron and machinery eased a little year-on-year basis. The rate of price rise in the manufactured products was 5 per cent in June, as against 7.9 per cent in the same month last year. In May this year, it was 5.02 per cent.
In the food articles category, rice turned expensive by 6.70 per cent in June, wheat 7.46 per cent, pulses 6.82 per cent and vegetables by 20.48 on an annual basis. Meanwhile, inflation for April has been revised upwards to 7.50 per cent, from the provisional estimate of 7.23 per cent.

The International Monetary Fund has said that the global economic recovery is still at risk, and eurozone economies remain in a precarious situation.  In its updated World Economic Outlook, which is published twice each year, the Washington-based lender said a delayed or insufficient response from European leaders to the crisis would further derail the recovery.

Falling for the fourth straight session, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined 110 points, or 0.6 percent, to 17,103, today, on worries about the monsoon and rising food prices. The Nifty shed 30 points, or 0.6 percent, to 5,197.Stock markets in Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore posted small gains of between 0.1 percent and 0.3 percent.  The rupee closed 16 paise lower, at 55.31 against the dollar.Gold fell 45 rupees, to 29,605 rupees per ten grams in Delhi. Silver held steady at 52,400 rupees per kilo.     And Brent crude oil futures stood a little under 103 dollars a barrel, while US crude dropped 64 cents, to 86.46 dollars a barrel.Pradeep Kumar, AIR News

The Agriculture Minister Mr Sharad Pawar today said the country has not reached a drought situation but the government is ready with a contingency plan to deal with a deficient monsoon. Mr Pawar was talking to the media on the sidelines of the 84th ICAR Foundation day function in New Delhi. 
He pointed out that the situation is worrisome in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and central Maharashtra, where sowing of coarse cereals particularly jowar and bajra, has been affected due to lack of rains. He said the government has ample quantity of wheat and rice to meet the domestic demand.

The government has decided to identify the potential and approach to attract funds in the Inland Waterways sector. With a push from the Prime Minister's Office, a committee has been set up to identify the areas of investment as also the business models to scale up private investment.
An official statement said that  the Committee will undertake a systematic effort to identify new areas for private investment, both in infrastructure and in transportation. It will also identify multiple business models which could then be bid out through concessions.

The Italian government has moved the Supreme Court seeking quashing of criminal proceedings against  two of its marines charged with the murder of two Indian fishermen off the Kerala coast this February.
The petition filed by the Italian government and its two marines has challenged the May 29 order of the Kerala High Court, which had held that the duo were liable to be tried under the jurisdiction of the Indian courts.
The petitioners have also sought a stay on all further criminal proceedings in the case pending before a Kollam court contending that the Kerala Police had no authority to conduct the probe and courts in India have no jurisdiction as the incident occurred outside the Indian territorial waters.

A new health survey conducted by the Office of Registrar General has revealed that more boys than girls are getting married before the legal age of 21 years.  This has been revealed in the Annual Health Survey conducted by the Office of Registrar General, India in all the 284 districts as per 2001 Census in eight Empowered Action Group States of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Rajasthan, besides Assam for a three- year period, 2007 to 2009, carried out in 2010 and 2011. Contrary to the general perception,the survey has brought fore that boys are married at an early age as compared to girls. The survey also reveals that every fourth girl in rural Rajasthan and every fifth girl in Bihar and Jharkhand are below the age of 18 years at marriage  time which is illegal.The Mean marriage age of females differs from 19.7 in Rajasthan to 22 years in Uttarakhand. Indo-Pak cricketing ties are set for revival after the BCCI today agreed  to a three match ODI series between the two nations. The two arch-rivals have not played each other in a bilateral series for close to five years. The ties had been snapped after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
The decision to resume cricketing ties with Pakistan was taken by the BCCI Working Committee which met in New Delhi today. BCCI  vice President Rajiv Shukla, told the media that the BCCI has decided that the short series will be held in India between December 2012 and January 2013 and the modalities will be worked out shortly, adding that the venues have been decided.

Today working Committee has decided that it will invite Pakistan Cricket team for three ODI and two 20-20 matches.  The Venues which decided for ODI till now are Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, while Bangalore and Ahmedabad are the venues for 20-20 matches.
