लंदन ओलिम्पिक खेलों के लिए पुरूष हॉकी के क्वालीफाइंग मैचों के फाइनल में भारत ने फ्रांस को ८-१ से हरा दिया है। इस जीत के साथ ही भारतीय टीम ने लंदन ओलिंपिक के लिए जगह बना ली है।

आठ बार के ओलंपिक चैंपियन भारत ने आठ साल के वनवास के बाद ओलंपिक के लिए क्वालीफाई कर लिया है। खचाखच भरे दिल्ली के राष्ट्रीय स्टेडियम में भारतीय टीम के जीत के नायक रहे स्टार ड्रैक स्लीपर संदीप सिंह जिन्होंने हैट्रिक सहित कुल पांच गोल दागे। फाइनल में भारत का पेनल्टी कॉर्नर कनवर्जन भी शानदार रहा है, उसने आठ पेनल्टी कॉनर्र कर सात को गोल में तब्दील किया। मैन ऑफ द मैन में संदीप ने प्रतियोगिता में कुल १६ गोल दागकर मैन आफ द टूर्नामेंट का भी खिताब हासिल किया। इस जीत के साथ ही खिलाड़ियों पर इनामों की झड़ी भी लग गई है। हॉकी इंडिया और एक निजी कंपनी ने प्रत्येक खिलाड़ी को दो-दो लाख रूपए और सहायक स्टॉप को एक-एक लाख रूपए देने घोषणा की है तो हरियाणा सरकार ने प्रत्येक खिलाड़ी को ढ़ाई-ढ़ाई हजार रूपए और हरियाणा से जुड़े खिलाड़ी को ११-११लाख रूपए देने का एलान किया है। इसके अलावा फाइनल में गोल दागने वाले हरियाणा के खिलाड़ी को राज्य सरकार प्रत्येक खिलाड़ी को पांच रूपए का ईनाम भी देगी। मध्यप्रदेश सरकार ने भी प्रत्येक खिलाड़ी को एक-एक लाख रूपए देने की घोषणा की है। बहरहाल लंदन ओलंपिक में हॉकी टीम का स्थान पक्का हो चुका है। लेकिन टीम की अग्नि परीक्षा वहां होगी जब हॉकी के बड़े-बड़े सुरमाओं के साथ दो-दो हाथ होंगे। हिमांशु कांडपाल, आकाशवाणी समाचार, दिल्ली।

निर्वाचन आयोग ने कहा है कि लखनऊ के सरोजिनी नगर और मोहनलाल गंज निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों की इलेट्रोनिक वोटिंग मशीनें सुरक्षित हैं। स्ट्रोंग रूम में पानी रिसने की खबरों के बाद आयोग ने अपने दो प्रेक्षक वहां भेजे थे। आयोग के प्रेक्षक असीम खुराना ने कहा कि मशीनों को किसी प्रकार का नुकसान नहीं हुआ है।

सब कैंडिडेट ने संतोष व्यक्त किया, उनके सामने सील किया गया, ये पूरा प्रकरण वीडियोग्राफ किया गया। ईसीआईल एक्सपर्ट का सर्टिफिकेट्स लिया गया है जो निर्वाचन आयोग को भेजा जा रहा है तो हम आपको ये कहना चाहेंगे कि जहां तक सरोजनी नगर और मोहनलाल गंज के ये दो एसेम्बली कस्टीट्यूंसीज मे जो थोड़ी शंका उत्पन्न हुई थी उसने में अब ये मानकर चलिए कि सब सुरक्षित है। एक भी ईवीएम को नुकसान नहीं हुआ है।

उत्तर प्रदेश में विधानसभा चुनाव के छठे चरण के मतदान की तैयारियां कर ली गई हैं। मतदानकर्मी आज मतदान केन्द्रों पर पहुंच रहे हैं। सुरक्षा बल पहले ही पहुंच चुके हैं और उन्होंने कई स्थानों पर लैग मार्च किया।
 इस चरण में पश्चिमी क्षेत्र के तेरह जिलों के अड़सठ निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में कल वोट डाले जायेंगे। ये निर्वाचन क्षेत्र सहारनपुर, मेरठ, अलीगढ़ और आगरा मण्डल में हैं। इस चरण में एक हजार एक सौ तीन उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं जिनमें छियासी महिलाएं हैं।
हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया कि सुरक्षा के व्यापक प्रबंध किये गये हैं। केन्द्रीय अर्धसैनिक बलों और राज्य के सशस्त्र पुलिस की करीब सात सौ सत्तर कंपनियां तैनात की गई हैं।

स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष चुनाव के लिए सुरक्षा के व्यापाक प्रबंध किए गए हैं। सहारानपुर, मुजफरनगर, मेरठ, बागपत, गाजियाबाद, बुलंदशहर, अलीगढ़, मथुरा और आगरा के संवेदनशील इलाकों में विशेष सतर्कता बरती जा रही है। दिल्ली, हरियाणा और राजस्थान से लगने वाली सीमाएं सील कर दी गई है। संबंधित जिलों के अधिकारियों को होटलों, धर्मशालाओं और सार्वजनिक प्रवास के स्थानों की सघन जांच के निर्देश दिए गए हैं। आयोग ने अन्य राज्यों के अन्य वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों को पुलिस पर्यवेक्षक के रूप में तैनात किया है। आयोग ने मतदान में लोगों की भागीदारी बढ़ाने के लिए भी कई कदम उठाए हैं। सुनील शुक्ल, आकाशवाणी समाचार, लखनऊ।

गोआ में विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए प्रचार तेज हो गया है। विभिन्न राजनीतिक दलों के बड़े नेता रैलियां और जनसभाएं कर रहे हैं। राज्य में तीन मार्च को वोट डाले जाएंगे। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि विधानसभा की चालीस सीटों के लिए ७४ निर्दलीय और नौ महिलाओं सहित दो सौ पन्द्रह उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं।

गोवा विधानसभा चुनाव में कांगे्रस तथा राष्ट्रवादी सत्तारूढ़ गठबंधन का मुकाबला मुख्य रूप से  भारतीय जनता पार्टी तथा महाराष्ट्रवादी गोमांतक पार्टी के युति से होगा। विभिन्न राजनीतिक दलों के उम्मीदवारों में कांगे्रस ने सर्वाधिक ३३ उम्मीदवार खड़े किए हैं।  भाजपा ने २८ तथा राज्य में पहली बार चुनाव लड़ने वाली तृणमूल कांगे्रस ने २० उम्मीदवारों को मैदान में उतारा है। इसके अलावा भारतीय कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी तथा मार्क्सवादी भी संयुक्त रूप से चुनाव में उतरी हैं उनकी ओर से पांच लोगों को टिकट दिया गया है। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए पणजी से बालाजी प्रभुगांव के साथा मैं सुनील दबीर।

निर्वाचन आयोग ने आरक्षण कोटे के अंदर कोटे के बारे में केन्द्रीय इस्पात मंत्री बेनी प्रसाद वर्मा के बयान के लिए चुनाव आचार संहिता के कथित उल्लंघन के मामले में सुनवाई की तारीख आगे बढ़ा दी है। श्री वर्मा के निवेदन पर टाली गई सुनवाई अब शुक्रवार को होगी। भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने आचार संहिता के उल्लंघन के लिए श्री वर्मा की शिकायत की थी। आयोग ने उन्हें १८ फरवरी को कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी किया था। जवाब में श्री वर्मा ने अपनी टिप्पणियों पर खेद व्यक्त करते हुए  चुनाव आचार संहिता के उल्लंघन से इंकार किया था क्योंकि वह बयान  मंत्री के तौर पर नहीं बल्कि पार्टी के घोषणापत्र के अनुसार कांगे्रस नेता के तौर पर था।

राजस्थान विधानसभा का बजट सत्र आज से जयपुर में शुरू हो रहा है। सत्र राज्यपाल शिवराज पाटिल के अभिभाषण के साथ शुरू होगा। बजट सत्र दो चरणों में होने की संभावना है। इस दौरान कुछ महत्वपूर्ण विधेयक भी पेश किये जा सकते हैं।

मिस्र में सैनिक शासकों ने  देश के नये संविधान का मसौदा तैयार करने के लिए सौ सदस्यों की समिति गठित करने का फैसला किया है। इसके लिये शनिवार को काहिरा में नवनिर्वाचित संसद की बैठक बुलाई गई है। मिस्र के निर्वाचन आयोग ने संसद के ऊपरी सदन यानी शूरा  के चुनाव परिणामों की घोषणा कर दी है। इनमें अस्सी प्रतिशत सीटें इस्लामी पार्टियों ने जीती हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया कि संसद के निचले सदन में लगभग आधी सीटें जीतने वाली मुस्लिम ब्रदरहुड की फ्रीडम और जस्टिस पार्टी ने इन आशंकाओं को दूर किया है कि संसद इस समिति में कट्टरवादी विचारकों को भर देगी।

मुस्लिम ब्रदरहुड की फ्रीडम एंड जस्टिस पार्टी के प्रमुख मोहम्मद मुर्सी ने इन चिंताओं को खारिज कर दिया है कि सौ सदस्यों वाले पैनल में सिर्फ इस्लामिक कट्टरपंथियों को रखा जाएगा। मुर्सी ने कहा कि सौ में से ६० सदस्य महिलाओं, इसाई विद्वानों, इस्लामिक संस्थानों के प्रमुख और नागरिक संगठनों से लिए जाएंगे, जबकि ४० सदस्य नई संसद से होंगे। सैनिक शासकों द्वारा सुझाई गई समय सीमा के तहत नए संविधान की रचना के बाद जून तक राष्ट्रपति पद के चुनाव पूरे हो जाने हैं। अतुल तिवारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार।

सीरिया में कल तनावग्रस्त इलाकों में विद्रोहियों के खिलाफ सुरक्षा बलों की बमबारी के बीच नये संविधान के लिए जनमत संग्रह हुआ। नये संविधान में तीन महीने के भीतर बहुदलीय संसदीय चुनाव कराने की बात कही गई है। विपक्ष ने जनमत संग्रह को दिखावा बताते हुए इसका बहिष्कार किया है। पश्चिमी देशों ने सीरिया के जनमत संग्रह को मजाक बताते हुए कहा कि इससे सीरिया का संकट समाप्त नहीं होगा। सीरिया सरकार ने कहा है कि नये संविधान से अनेक राजनीतिक दलों को भागीदारी का अवसर मिलेगा। विपक्षी कार्यकर्ताओं और स्थानीय समन्वय समितियों ने बताया कि सैनिकों की गोलाबारी और विद्रोहियों के साथ झड़पों में ३४ लोग मारे गए।

हिमाचल प्रदेश में चलाए जा रहे सर्वशिक्षा अभियान के परिणाम नजर आने लगे हैं। यह अभियान स्कूल प्रणाली के सामुदायिक स्वामित्व के जरिए सबको प्रारंभिक शिक्षा उपलब्ध कराने के उद्देश्य से चलाया रहा है। राज्य में सर्वशिक्षा अभियान के कारण स्कूली शिक्षा में धीरे-धीरे सुधार हो रहा है। हमारी संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि छह से १४ वर्ष के सभी बच्चों को प्रारंभिक शिक्षा दी जा रही है।

आजादी के समय हिमाचल प्रदेश में केवल ८ प्रतिशत लोग ही साक्षर थे और प्रदेश सबसे पिछड़ा इलाका माना जाता था लेकिन आज प्रदेश में हर बच्च स्कूल जाता है और स्कूल छोड़ने वाले बच्चे की संख्या भी एक प्रतिशत से कम है। शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में इस सफलता की वजह सर्व शिक्षा अभियान है जिसके अंतरगत गुणात्मक शिक्षा प्रदान की जा रही है तथा मिड डे मिल जैसी योजना का भी इसमें बड़ा हाथ है। अब प्रदेश सरकार ने स्कूली बच्चों को दो बार निशुल्क वर्दी उपलब्ध करवाने का एलान किया है ताकि गरीब परिवार अपने बच्चों को पूरी तरह से स्कूली शिक्षा उपलब्ध करवाएं। नंदिनी मित्तल, आकाशवाणी समाचार, शिमला।

जानेमाने फुटबॉल खिलाड़ी शैलेन मन्ना का लम्बी बीमारी के बाद आज तड़के कोलकाता में निधन हो गया। वे ८७ वर्ष के थे। मन्ना को फीफा ने सदी के सर्वश्रेष्ठ फुटबॉल खिलाड़ी का खिताब दिया था। वे १९५१ में एशियायी कैम्प की विश्व विजेता भारतीय टीम के सदस्य थे। मन्ना को १९७१ में पदमश्री से सम्मानित किया गया था। उनका अंतिम संस्कार आज किया जाएगा।

India beat France 8-1 in the final of Olympics Qualifier at the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium in New Delhi last night. With this spectacular win India qualified for Olympics men's hockey after eight years. India's ace drag-flicker Sandeep Singh slammed five goals, including a hat-trick. He was the highest scorer with sixteen goals in the tournament. A desk report

It was Chak De India and 'Sandeep Mania' at its peak with a near-capacity crowd cheering ace drag-flicker Sandeep Singh as he did a 'high-five' to fulfill India's 'Olympic Dreams' at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium yesterday. Sandeep Singh scored five goals, including a hat-trick. The fans screamed their lungs out every time the 'men in blue' rushed in with their hockey stick into the rival camp. Both India and France earned seven penalty corners each, but the visitors failed to utilise a single one while the hosts converted six. The rout started with Birendra Lakra's field goal in the 17th minute after that it was a one man show as Sandeep converted five successive penalty corners for India to floor France. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has congratulated the Indian Men's Hockey team for qualifying for London Olympics, and announced a bonanza of cash rewards including five lakh rupees per goal scored by each player of Haryana. Mr Hooda also announced 2.51 lakh rupees to each player of the Indian team. The Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has congratulated the Indian team and announced reward of one lakh rupees to each player.

The Election Commission has said that Electronic Voting Machines of Sarojini Nagar and Mohanlalganj assembly constituencies of Lucknow are safe. The Commission had sent two observers, Arvinder Singh and Ashim Khurana following reports of water seepage into a strong room where EVMs of two constituencies were kept. Briefing the media after making proper investigation in the presence of candidates, Mr Khurana, said that all the EVMs are safe.

All the candidates have expressed satisfaction over the inspection. The machines were sealed before them and it was videographed. All the EVMs of both Sarojini Nagar and Mohanlalganj Constituencies are safe and unaffected.

All preparations for the sixth phase of assembly elections have been completed. More than 22 thousand polling parties will rush towards their respective polling booths today security forces have already reached several areas. Electioneering for this phase ended last evening. Polling will be held tomorrow in 68 assembly seats in 13 districts of Saharanpur, Meerut and Aligarh divisions.

Our correspondent reports that a total of 1103 candidates including 86 women are in the fray.

"Elaborate Security arrangements have been made for peaceful and impartial polling. Extra security precautions have been taken at the sensitive areas of Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura and Agra. Inter-state border with Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan has been sealed and barriers are erected to prevent entry of anti-social elements. The Commission has asked all outsiders including leaders engaged in campaigning to leave the areas going for poll tomorrow. In addition to general and expenditure observers the Commission has deployed 9 senior police officers from other sates as Police Observers to look after security aspects of poll preparedness. In Goa, campaigning for the assembly election is in full swing. Polling will be held on Saturday. Our correspondent reports that election rallies by prominent leaders of various political parties are being held in various constituencies.

"The main contest in the Goa Assembly Elections this time would be between the ruling Congress and Nationalist Congress Party alliance and the Bharatiya Janata Party and Maharshtrawadi Gomantak Party combine. There are 215 candidates in fray for total 40 seats locked mostly in the multi-cornered contests. These also include 74 independents and nine women. Congress party has fielded maximum 33 candidates while the BJP has fielded 28 along with Trinamool Congress, which is making maiden foray into the state elections, nominating 20 candidates. The Election Commission has postponed the hearing in the case against Union Minister for Steel Beni Prasad Verma for alleged violation of the Model code of conduct due to his sub quota remarks. The hearing scheduled for today has been postponed till the 2nd of next month as requested by Mr. Verma. The earlier hearing on Friday was deferred on a plea by the complainant. The BJP had complained that the Steel Minister had violated the model code of conduct.

The Government will take steps to commission the stalled Kudankulam nuclear power plant as early as possible. This was stated by the Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office V Narayanasamy while talking to newsmen at Karaikal in Tamil Nadu yesterday. The Minister said that in coordination with the Tamil Nadu Government, the Centre will jointly work out the mechanism to open the Kudankulam nuclear power plant at the earliest.

Syria held a referendum on a new constitution yesterday amidst shelling by the security forces in restive areas targeting the rebels. The new constitution calls for a multi-party parliamentary election within three months. The opposition boycotted the vote, saying it was a sham. Western nations have called the voting a farce which will not end the crisis in Syria. However, the Syrian Government said the new constitution opens the door for political pluralism.

The opposition activists and the Local Coordination Committees said 34 people were killed in the shelling by the troops and clashes with rebels. Most of the deaths occurred in the city of Homs.

In Egypt, military rulers have convened a meeting of the newly elected parliament in Cairo on Saturday to set up a 100 member panel to draft the new constitution of the country. The Head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, which controls nearly half the seats in the lower house of parliament has allayed fears that the Islamist dominated parliament will pack the panel with conservative thinkers. Our correspondent reports that the Egyptian Election Commission declared the results of the Upper House of Parliament or the Shura Council on Sunday in which 80 percent of the seats were bagged by the Islamist parties.

भारत ने रक्षा मंत्री ए के एंटनी की अरूणाचल प्रदेश यात्रा पर प्रश्न उठाने के चीन के विदेश मंत्रालय के हाल के बयान को दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण और आपत्तिजनक बताया है। नई दिल्ली में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में श्री एंटनी ने कहा कि उनकी यात्रा को लेकर चीन की आपत्ति से उन्हें बहुत आश्चर्य हुआ है।

ये बहुत ही दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है और आपत्तिजनक भी है, क्योंकि अरूणाचल प्रदेश भारत का अभिन्न अंग है। जैसे जम्मू कश्मीर, पूर्वोत्तर राज्य और अन्य राज्य तथा केन्द्र शासित प्रदेश भारत का हिस्सा है। देश का रक्षामंत्री होने के नाते मुझे पूरा अधिकार और जिम्मेदारी है कि मैं देश की सभी सीमाओं का दौरा करूं।

भारत ने नॉर्वे द्वारा दो बच्चों को उनके भारतीय माता पिता को सौंपने में देरी पर चिन्ता व्यक्त की है। विदेश मंत्रालय के अनुसार मंत्रालय में सचिव श्री मधुसूदन गणपति को इस मामले को सुलझाने के लिए नॉर्वे के विदेश मंत्री से बातचीत करने भेजा गया है।
हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि नॉर्वे के अधिकारियों ने वहां रह रहे भारतीय दम्पत्ति सागरिका और अनुरूप भट्टाचार्य पर अपने बच्चों के प्रति लापरवाही बरतने का आरोप लगाया था। स्थानीय अधिकारी पिछले वर्ष मई में इन बच्चों को जबरदस्ती अपने साथ ले गए और उन्हें अपनी देखभाल में रखा। भारत पहले ही कह चुका है कि ये बच्चे अनाथ नहीं हैं और भारत से संबंध रखते हैं। नॉर्वे के बाल कल्याण अधिकारी हाल में इन बच्चों को कोलकाता में रह रहे उनके चाचा को सौंपने पर सहमत हो गए थे जो इस समय ऑस्लो में हैं।
इस बीच, बच्चों के दादा-दादी नई दिल्ली में नॉर्वे के दूतावास के बाहर धरना दिये हुए हैं। वे मांग कर रहे हैं कि इन बच्चों को उनके माता पिता का वीजा समाप्त होने से पहले आठ मार्च तक भारत वापिस भेजा जाए।

केरल में इटली के जहाज एनरिका लेक्सी से बरामद हथियारों और अन्य सामग्री को कोल्लम में मजिस्ट्रेट की अदालत में पेश किया गया। इस महीने की १५ तारीख को निंदाकारा के तट के पास इटली के नौसैनिक सुरक्षाकर्मियों द्वारा दो भारतीय मछुआरों की हत्या के सिलसिले में ये हथियार बरामद किये गये हैं जो चार सीलबंद बक्सों में थे। हथियारों के इन बक्सों को बाद में तिरूअनंतपुरम में फोरेंसिक प्रयोगशाला ले जाया जाएगा। रविवार को इस जहाज पर १५ घंटे की तलाशी के बाद ये हथियार बरामद किये गये थे।
इस बीच, कोच्चि बंदरगाह ट्रस्ट के सूत्रों ने कहा है कि एनरिका लेक्सी को आज सुबह गोदी से बाहर ले जाया गया, ताकि वहां इंतजार कर रहे अन्य जहाजों को गोदी में लाया जा सके।

मद्रास उच्च न्यायालय ने पुड्डूचेरी की अदालत को शंकररमण हत्या मामले में मुकदमे की कार्यवाही जारी रखने का आदेश दिया है। इस मामले में कांची के दो शंकराचार्य जयेन्द्र सरस्वती और विजयेन्द्र सरस्वती मुख्य अभियुक्त हैं। मुकदमे पर अपने पहले के आदेश को वापिस लेते हुए न्यायमूर्ति के एन बाशा और न्यायमूर्ति पॉल वसंत कुमार की खंडपीठ ने एक नए जज के अधीन मुकदमे की कार्यवाही फिर शुरू करने का निचली अदालत को आदेश दिया। न्यायालय ने पहले उस याचिका पर मुकदमे की सुनवाई पर रोक लगा दी थी, जिसमें आरोप लगाया गया था कि कांची के शंकराचार्य मुकदमे को प्रभावित करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। उच्च न्यायालय ने राज्य के पुलिस महानिदेशक को उन ऑडियो टेपों की सत्यता का पता लगाने को भी कहा है, जिसमें वरिष्ठ शंकराचार्य जयेन्द्र सरस्वती को निचली अदालत के जज टी रामास्वामी के साथ कथित रूप से बातचीत करते हुए रिकॉर्ड किया गया है। पुलिस महानिदेशक से तीन महीने के अंदर रिपोर्ट देने को कहा गया है।

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने केंद्र सरकार को निर्देश दिया है कि नदियों को जोड़ने की महत्वाकांक्षी परियोजना एक निश्चित समय सीमा में लागू की जाए। परियोजना लागू करने में हो रही देरी से इसकी बढ़ती लागत को देखते हुए न्यायमूर्ति एस. एच. कापड़िया की अध्यक्षता वाली तीन न्यायाधीशों की पीठ ने एक उच्च अधिकार प्राप्त समिति की नियुक्ति की है, जो इसे लागू करने के तौर-तरीके तय करेगी। इस समिति में केन्द्रीय जल संसाधन मंत्री, मंत्रालय के सचिव, पर्यावरण और वन मंत्रालय के सचिव तथा जल संसाधन मंत्रालय, वित्त मंत्रालय, योजना आयोग और पर्यावरण तथा वन मंत्रालय द्वारा नियुक्त चार विशेषज्ञ शामिल होंगे। राज्य सरकारों के प्रतिनिधि, दो सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता और वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता रणजीत कुमार भी समिति के सदस्य होंगे, ये इस मामले में अदालत की मदद कर रहे हैं।

उत्तर प्रदेश में विधानसभा चुनाव के छठे चरण के मतदान के लिये सभी तैयारियां पूरी कर ली गई हैं। इस चरण में सहारनपुर, मेरठ, अलीगढ़ और आगरा डिवीजन में १३ जिलों के ६८ निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में कल वोट डाले जायेंगे। दो करोड़ ग्यारह लाख से अधिक मतदाता ८६ महिलाओं सहित एक हजार १०३ उम्मीदवारों के चुनावी भाग्य का फैसला करेंगे। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि निर्वाचन आयोग ने इन क्षेत्रों में शांतिपूर्वक मतदान के लिए समुचित प्रबंध किए हैं।

राजस्थान विधानसभा का बजट सत्र आज जयपुर में शुरू हुआ। सदन को संबोधित करते हुए राज्यपाल शिवराज पाटिल ने कहा कि सरकार राज्य के आर्थिक और सामाजिक उत्थान के लिए कटिबद्ध है और ऊर्जा, सिंचाई तथा सामाजिक सुरक्षा को उच्च प्राथमिकता दे रही है। राज्यपाल के संबोधन के दौरान मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के विधायकों ने उन किसानों को मुआवजा देने की मांग करते हुए नारे लगाये जिनकी फसल भीषण ठंड के कारण बर्बाद हो गई है।

मध्यप्रदेश विधानसभा में आज मुख्य विपक्षी कांग्रेस ने विधानसभा कार्यवाही से वाकआउट किया। वे बेतमा में गैंग रेप और एक प्रतियोगी परीक्षा के प्रश्नपत्र में कमल का फूल प्रकाशित करने का मुद्दा उठाना चाहते थे, लेकिन विधानसभा अध्यक्ष ईश्वरदास रोहानी इसकी अनुमति नही दी। शून्यकाल में कांग्रेस के सदस्यों ने इन मुद्दों को उठाने की कोशिश की लेकिन अध्यक्ष के अनुमति न देने के विरोध में वे सदन के बीचों बीच आ गए। अध्यक्ष ने सदन की कार्यवाही से कांग्रेस के सदस्यों की टिप्पणियां हटाने के निर्देश दिए। बाद में कांग्रेस के सदस्य सदन से वाकआउट कर गए।

जम्मू-कश्मीर में प्राइवेट मीडिया ने आज विधानसभा अध्यक्ष मोहम्मद अकबर लोन की इस टिप्पणी को लेकर विधानसभा सत्र का बहिष्कार किया कि मीडिया उनके नियंत्रण में है। अध्यक्ष ने मीडिया के बारे में अपनी टिप्पणियों पर विपक्ष द्वारा आपत्ति किए जाने के बाद यह बात कही थी। यह मुद्दा विधानसभा में तीन मंत्रियों ने उठाया था। इन मंत्रियों ने राज्य के स्वास्थ्य विभाग के कथित भ्रष्टाचार के बारे में एक स्थानीय अंग्रेजी दैनिक में छपी रिपोर्ट की ओर अध्यक्ष का ध्यान दिलाया और इसे मीडिया ट्रायल बताया। इससे पहले सुबह अध्यक्ष ने कहा था कि रिपोर्ट छापते समय उसका स्रोत बताया जाना चाहिए। प्राइवेट मीडिया ने सदन की कार्यवाही का बहिष्कार किया और विधानसभा के बाहर प्रदर्शन किया।

केरल में तिरूअनंतपुरम के श्री पद्मनाभ स्वामी मंदिर के विशाल खजाने का आकलन करने के लिए उच्चतम न्यायालय द्वारा नियुक्त विशेषज्ञ समिति ने मंदिर की इस अपार सम्पत्ति को रखने के लिए कड़ी सुरक्षा वाला तहखाना बनाने का फैसला किया है। विशेषज्ञ समिति ने कहा है कि इसके लिए उच्चतम न्यायालय में तीन हफ्‌ते के अंदर एक योजना पेश की जाएगी।

गुजरात में साबरमती रेल अग्नि कांड की दसवीं बरसी पर आज गोधरा और राज्य के अन्य शहरों में सुरक्षा बढ़ा दी गई है। २००२ में गोधरा में हुए इस अग्नि कांड में ५९ लोग मारे गए थे और इसके बाद राज्य में बड़े पैमाने पर हिंसा की वारदात हुई थी। आज राज्य में विभिन्न संस्थाओं ने शांति रैलियों, सूफी संगीत, प्रदर्शनियों, कविता पाठ और प्रार्थना सभाओं का आयोजन किया है।

अफगानिस्तान के पूर्वी प्रांत नंगरहार में जलालाबाद हवाई अड्डे के पास आज एक आत्मघाती बम विस्फोट में नौ लोग मारे गये और छह घायल हुए हैं। प्रांतीय पुलिस के अनुसार हमलावर ने सुबह विस्फोटकों से लदे अपने वाहन को हवाई अड्डे के पास विस्फोट से उड़ा दिया। मृतकों में छह नागरिक, दो हवाई अड्डे के सुरक्षा गार्ड और एक सैनिक है। घायलों में कुछ ही हालत नाजुक बतायी गयी है। मीडिया की खबरों में बताया गया है कि तालिबान ने हमले की जिम्मेदारी ली है।
हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि यह हमला अफगानिस्तान में बगराम स्थित वायु सैनिक अड्डै में अनजाने में कुरान षरीफ की कुछ प्रतियां जलाए जाने की घटना के विरोध में पिछले छह दिनों से जारी हिंसक प्रदर्षनों में चार अमरीकियों समेत ३० लोगों के मारे जाने के बाद हुआ है।
कुरान षरीफ की कुछ प्रतियां अनजाने में जलाये जाने की घटना के विरोध में अफगानिस्तान में भड़के हिंसक विरोध-प्रदर्षन बंद होने का नाम नहीं ले रहे हैं. अमरीकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा और अफगानिस्तान में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सेना के कमांडर जनरल जॉन एलेन सहित तमाम बड़े नेता दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण घटना के लिए माफी मांग चुके हैं. राष्ट्रपति करज+ई ने भी कई बार लोगों से हिंसा का सहारा न लेने की अपील दोहराई है. अफगानिस्तान और अमरीका के बीच अविष्वास का यह माहौल ऐसे वक्त बना है जब अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सेनाएं निर्धारित कार्यक्रम के अनुसार यहां से वापस लौट रही हैं. अफगानिस्तान और अमरीका पिछले एक दषक से घनिष्ठ सहयोगी रहे हैं. अगर वे आपसी विष्वास फिर से बहाल नहीं करते तो अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आतंकवाद से संघर्ष और अफगानिस्तान के पुनर्निर्माण का उनका काम अधूरा रह जाएगा.-दोपहर समाचार के लिए काबुल से राजेन्द्र उपाध्याय.

पाकिस्तान में सुप्रीम कोर्ट की सात सदस्यीय पीठ कल प्रधानमंत्री यूसुफ रजा गिलानी पर अदालत की अवमानना के मुकदमे की सुनवाई फिर शुरू करेगी। श्री गिलानी के वकील एतजज अहसान आज सुप्रीम कोर्ट में जवाब दाखिल कर सकते हैं। पिछली सुनवाई के दौरान एटॉर्नी जनरल मौलवी अनवारूल हक ने, प्रधानमंत्री के खिलाफ सुबूत दाखिल किये थे। श्री हक इस मामले में अभियोजक हैं ।

पाकिस्तान ने एबटाबाद के उत्तर पश्चिमी हिस्से मे उस परिसर को वस्त कर दिया है, जिसमें अमरीकी सेनाओं ने अलकायदा सरगना ओसामा बिन लादेन को मार गिराया था। इमारत को ध्वस्त करने का काम कल देर रात शुरू हुआ। पिछले वर्ष दो मई को अलकायदा सरगना को गैरिसन टाउन के इसी परिसर में गोली मार दी गई थी। माना जा रहा था कि वह पिछले कई वर्षो से वहां छिपा था। इमारत को गिराने का कोई आधिकारिक कारण नहीं बताया गया है। एक पाकिस्तानी अधिकारी ने संवाददाताओं को बताया कि परिसर की चारदीवारी ज्यों की त्यों है और तीन मंजिला इमारत गिरा दी गई है। मीडिया और अन्य लोगों को परिसर के आसपास आने से रोकने के लिए सेना और पुलिसकर्मियों को तैनात किया गया है।

नेपाल में राजधानी काठमांडू में आज एक बम विस्फोट में दो लोग मारे गए और पांच घायल हुए हैं। विस्फोट दिन में एक बजकर पन्द्रह मिनट पर नेपाल ऑयल कार्पोशन के कार्यालय के बाहर हुआ। घायलों को अस्पताल भेज दिया गया है, इनमें से तीन की हालत गंभीर है। विस्फोट के कारण का अभी पता नहीं चला है।

अमरीका और दक्षिण कोरिया की सेनाओं ने उत्तर कोरिया की चेतावनियों के बावजूद कोरिया प्रायद्वीप मे सैनिक अभ्यास शुरू कर दिया है। इस वार्षिक अभ्यास के लिए सैंकड़ों अमरीकी सैनिक टुकड़ियां दक्षिण कोरिया में आ गईं हैं। उत्तर कोरिया ने इन सैनिक अभ्यासों को अक्षम्य दखलंदाजी बतलाया है और युद्ध शुरू करने की धमकी दी है, जबकि दक्षिण कोरिया का कहना है कि ये सैनिक अभ्यास अपनें बचाव में किये जा रहे हैं।

चीन ने सीरिया के मुद्दे पर अपने रूख की अमरीकी आलोचना को खारिज करते हुए इसे अंहकारी टिप्पणी करार दिया है। चीन की यह प्रतिक्रिया कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के सरकारी अखबार में छपी है। अमरीकी विदेश मंत्री हिलेरी क्लिंटन ने सीरिया के बारे में संयुक्त राष्ट्र के प्रस्ताव पर चीन और रूस के वीटो को निंदनीय बताया था। अखबार में छपे लेख मे सीरिया पर अमरीका की ईमानदारी पर सवाल उठाते हुए कहा गया है कि इराक के बाद अमरीका को अरब लोगों के लिए बोलने का कोई अधिकार नही है।

सूचना और प्रसारण राज्य मंत्री चौधरी मोहन जटुआ ने आज नई दिल्ली में प्रकाशन विभाग द्वारा प्रकाशित वार्षिक संदर्भ पुस्तक भारत-२०१२ और इंडिया-२०१२ का विमोचन किया। श्री जटुआ ने कहा कि इस संदर्भ पुस्तक में केन्द्र और राज्य सरकारों के बारे में पक्की और प्रमाणित जानकारी दी जाती है।
इस अवसर पर सूचना और प्रसारण सचिव उदय कुमार वर्मा ने कहा कि संदर्भ पुस्तक के इस ५६वें संस्करण में ज्यादा व्यापक और बेहतर जानकारी दी गई है। श्री वर्मा ने कहा कि २०१३ में इस संदर्भ पुस्तक का इलेक्ट्रॉनिक संस्करण भी जारी किया जाएगा, जिससे ज्यादा लोगों तक इसकी पहुंच हो सकेगी।

बम्बई शेयर बाजार में आज गिरावट का रूख है। शुरूआती कारोबार में ही सेन्सेक्स ७० अंक गिरा। कच्चे तेल की कीमतों में वृद्धि को लेकर चिंता और मुनाफा वसूली के कारण बाजार में यह गिरावट आई। अब से कुछ देर पहले यह ४८५ अंक की गिरावट के साथ १७ हजार ४४० पर था।

राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण स्वास्थ्य मिशन ने असम में फाइलेरिया के उन्मूलन के लिए आज से तीन दिन का अभियान शुरू किया है। स्वास्थ्यकर्मी राज्य के दस जिलों में घर-घर जाकर गोलियां बांट रहे हैं। वर्ष २०१० में लिम्फेटिक फाइलेरिया के एक हजार नवासी मामले सामने आए थे। इसके अतिरिक्त एक हजार चार सौ ७२ हाइड्रोसील के मामले दर्ज हुए, जो एक तरह से फाइलेरिया का ही रूप है। शुरूआत में इस बीमारी के पता चलने से इसका निदान गोलियों से हो जाता है।

India today termed as unfortunate and objectionable a recent statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry questioning Defence Minister, Mr. A K Antony's visit to Arunachal Pradesh. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr. Antony said he was surprised at the Chinese objection to the visit and reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India.

"Arunachal Pradesh integral part of India just as Jammu and Kashmir north eastern parts all other Indian territory and as a Defence Minister I have the Rights and is my duty to visit all the border areas of our country."

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S.M Krishna said that Antony has every right to visit the State.

"To defend at the borders of India so I think the Defence Minister is entitled to go anywhere if is necessary so the question of any other country arising objections will not be taken into consideration talk."

Our correspondent reports, China on Saturday objected to Defence Minister A K Antony's recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh, saying India should refrain from taking any action that could complicate the Border issue.

India has expressed concern over delay in handing over of children by Norway to their Indian parents. Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs Madhusudhan Ganapathi has been rushed to Norway to ensure that children are handed over to their parents without further delay. According to the External Affairs Ministry, Special envoy Madhusudhan Ganapathi has been rushed to Norway to meet the Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store today to resolve the issue.

Our correspondent reports that the Norwegian authorities had accused the Indian couple Sagarika and Anurup Bhattacharya, living in Norway, of negligence towards their children. The local authorities had forcibly taken away the children in May last year and put them in a foster care. India has already stressed that the children are not orphans and belong to the State of India. Norwegian childcare authorities had recently agreed to hand over the custody of the children to their Kolkata-based uncle, who is currently in Oslo.

Meanwhile, the children's grand parents are holding dharna in front of Norwegian embassy in New Delhi to protest their custody. They are demanding that the children must be sent back to India by 8th of March before the expiry of the visa of the Indian couple.

CPM leader Brinda Karat and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj have also joined the grandparents in their protest.

In Uttar Pradesh, the stage is set for peaceful conduct of the sixth phase of polling tomorrow in 68 Assemly constituencies spread over 13 districts of Saharanpur, Meerut, Aligarh and Agra divisions. Over two Crore 11 Lakh voters will decide the fate of 1103 candidates including 86 females in this phase. A total of 193 candidates including 8 females have been fielded by various national parties. The election commission has made elaborate arrangement for peaceful polling in the area. Over 21 thousand Polling Stations have been established while over 800 companies of central paramilitary forces have been deployed apart from state police personnel for free and fair elections. "The security personnel have already taken their positions at their postings. This time the election personnel have been given a chance to vote by using ballot papers at their headquarters. Meanwhile, the focus of attention is now the seventh phase areas where the top leaders and star campaigners are out to woo the voters in different terai and western districts. Electioneering has reached its peak in seventh and last phase areas of western and Terai districts. Several prominent leaders are in the area campaigning in favour of their party candidates. Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi held a road show in Shahjehanpur today. The election for 10 constituencies spread over 10 districts of Moradabad, Bareilly and Lucknow divisions will be held on the 3rd of March.

Election authorities and observers have inspected the strong room in Gorakhpur where EVMs have been kept following the reports of water seepage in strong rooms in Lucknow. However, no damage has been caused to the EVMs. The EVMs will be opened on 6th of March when counting of votes will commence.

The Madras High Court today directed the Pudichery court to resume trial proceedings in the Sankarraman murder case in which the two Kanchi seers, Jayendra Saraswati and Vijayendra Saraswati are the prime accused. Vacating a stay on trial granted by the high court earlier on a petition alleging that the trial was being influenced by the Kanchi Shankaracharya, a division bench of the Madras High Court comprising Mr Justice K N Basha and Justice Paul Vasant Kumar ordered the trial court to resume proceedings under a new judge. The high court ordered the state DGP to go into the veracity of the audio tapes in which the senior seer Jayendra Saraswati is alleged to have spoken to the trial court judge T Ramaswamy and submit a report in three months.

The Supreme Court today directed the Centre to implement the ambitious interlinking of rivers project in a time-bound manner. Observing that the project has already been delayed resulting in an increase in its cost, a three judge bench, headed by S H Kapadia, appointed a high-powered committee to chart out and execute the project. The committee will comprise of Union Minister of Water Resources, its Secretary, Secretary of Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) and four expert members appointed by Water Resources Ministry, Finance Ministry, Planning Commission and the MoEF. Representatives from state governments, two social activists and senior advocate Ranjit Kumar, who has been assisting the court in the case, will also be members of the committee.

In Kerala, the weapons and other materials seized from the Italian vessel Enrica Lexie have been taken to Kollam this morning, where they were produced before a magistrate's court. The weapons, stored in four sealed boxes were seized in connection with the killing of two fishermen by Italian marines off Neendakara coast on the 15th of this month. The boxes containing the weapons will later be taken to the Forensic Laboratory at the state capital Thiruvananthpuram. It may be recalled that the weapons were seized after a 15 hour search operation on board the vessel on Sunday. Meanwhile, Cochin Port Trust sources said Enrica Lexie has been moved out of the harbour this morning for outer anchorage, to accommodate other waiting vessels.

The Health and Family Welfare Minister Gulam Nabi Azad today said that government is trying to provide universal healthcare in the 12th five year plan. Inaugurating the one day National Consultation of Social Determinants of Health in New Delhi, Mr Azad said steps would be taken to provide free generic drugs at all public health facilities for reducing financial burden on the patients. He said moving forward in the direction of reducing the inequities requires actions not only within the health sector but also across other sectors. Mr Azad stressed that the government is committed to meet and overcome the challenge of addressing social inequities. He said his ministry has taken several new initiatives in reducing health inequities.

In Jammu and Kashmir entire private media fraternity today boycotted the State Assembly session following Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone's alleged remarks that 'Media is under his control.' The Speaker's remarks came in view of the objections raised by the opposition over his media remarks. The issue was initially raised by three cabinet ministers seeking his attention towards a report published in a local English Daily against the State Health Department for alleged corruption describing it as 'media trial'. Earlier, the Speaker sought disclosure of the 'source' while publishing the reports.

In Afghanistan, at least nine people have been killed and six others injured in a powerful suicide bomb blast at the entrance of Jalalabad airport in eastern Nangarhar province. Provincial police said the attacker detonated his explosive laden vehicle at the gate of the airport this morning.

Out of the nine dead, six are civilians, two airport guards and one soldier. According to media reports the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the blast.

He also urged his countrymen to maintain peace and calm as the enemies of Afghanistan might misuse their feeling.

US and South Korean forces have begun military exercises on the Korean peninsula amid warnings from Pyongyang that the drills should not go ahead. The annual exercises, known as Key Resolve, have brought hundreds of extra US troops into South Korea. They will be followed later in the week by another set of joint military exercises called Foal Eagle. North Korea has called the drills an unpardonable infringement and threatened to wage sacred war. South Korea says the annual exercises with its key ally are defensive. More than 2,000 Americans are taking part, including 800 based outside South Korea.

For 'The Artist', French Jean Dujardin bagged the best actor award, while Michel Hazanavicius won the best director award. 'The Artist', which was a tribute to the early days of Hollywood, became the first silent film to win best picture, since "Wings" in 1929. It beat eight rivals for the top prize, including Martin Scorsese's "Hugo", Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" and "The Help".

American Meryl Streep was crowned the best actress for her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady." This was Streep's third Oscar and her first in the last 30 years. The 84-year-old Christopher Plummer won the best supporting actor category for his portrayal in "The Beginners", while best supporting actress honours went to Octavia Spencer for her role of a house maid in "The Help". Scorsese's "Hugo" won five trophies in technical categories.

In the Foreign Language category, Iranian movie, 'The Separation' directed by Asghar Farhadi was awarded the Oscar for best film. A report:

"Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar winning movie, The Separation recounts the story of a couple Simin played by Leila Hatami and Nader, played by Peyman Moaadi who split after 14 years of marriage. The reason- Simin wants to leave Iran for a country where there are more opportunities for women and for her daughter. Nader says they must stay in Iran to look after his Alzheimer stricken father. Their intelligent, sensitive 11-year-old daughter Termeh played by Sarina Farhadi is stuck up in the fight among the parents. After divorce, Nader hires a domestic worker to take care of his father but is embroiled in a nasty dispute with her and her husband. The climax builds up to showcase the pressures from the society as all the characters go through a series of lies. The Separation has also won the Berlin Film Festival’s Golden Bear. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 70 points, or 0.4 per cent, to 17,853 in early trade, this morning, on continued profit-booking by investors, and largely weak Asian stock markets. Later, selling pressure intensified considerably, and the Sensex had lost a hefty 296 points, or 1.7 percent, to 17,628 in afternoon deals, a short while ago. The 30-share Sensex has already fallen more than 500 points in the past three trading sessions.

Other Asian markets in Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Indonesia were down by between 0.2 percent and 1.4 percent, on concerns that rising crude oil prices will hurt global economic recovery.

The rupee fell by 12 paise to 49 rupees 5 paise against the dollar in late morning trade due to the month-end dollar demand from importers. In the previous session on Friday, the domestic currency had gained 26 paise to close at a three-week high of 48 rupees 93 paise against the dollar.

Many former Olympians, have lavished praise on the Indian men's hockey team for qualifying in London Olympics after a gap of eight years, saying that the achievement would bring back the interest of the game in the country. India's former Olympian Leslie Claudius congratulated the Indian team and the coach and hoped that they would win a medal at the Olympics, getting India's glory back.

Veteran Indian hockey player Zafar Iqbal has also lauded the Indian team's performance.

"It is really a booster to the Indian Hockey, I would say because everybody wanted that we should qualify the Olympic Game we were the champions much earlier nor the other side of the wall we have to see a great teams over there. Now we have to prepare this team to defend against great teams in the Olympic Game."

Another Indian Olympian Gurbux Singh said that with further improvement in performance, India can be a strong team for the London Olympics. Aslam Sher Khan, who was a member of India's only World Cup-winning side in 1975 in Kuala Lumpur, also feels that the team is slowly and steadily heading towards its redemption journey.

In Madhya Pradesh, the state legislative assembly congratulated the Indian Hockey Team today for booking a berth in London Olympics. The Speaker Ishwardas Rohani expressed hope that the Indian Hockey Team will show spectacular performance in the Olympics.

The team's Olympic qualification was not just celebrated in the country but was also lauded by their counterparts across the border in Pakistan, who felt the side's presence in the mega-event is essential for the sport. India's performance was lauded by Pakistani players such as Rehan Butt and Sohail Abbas, who said to save Asian Hockey, it is necessary that the neighbors play the Olympics.

Corporate India is expected to see a 9.4 percent rise in net profits in fourth quarter of the current financial year, after suffering a steep fall for two consecutive quarters, Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) said in its monthly review. Indian corporates incurred huge forex losses in the September and the December 2011 quarters because of steep depreciation of the Indian rupee. However, we expect rupee to appreciate in the March 2012 quarter, CMIE said. Absence of forex losses and a moderation in input price inflation are expected to push up corporate profits in the March 2012 quarter. The main driver of profit growth is expected to be the banking industry, which is likely to see a robust over 42 percent rise in net profits due to lower provisions and low base, it said.

The Delhi government has today increased the reservation in higher education for Other Backward Casts, OBCs, to 27 percent from the present 21 per cent. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the state Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit in New Delhi. With this increase, the total reservation in higher education institutions for Scheduled Cast, Scheduled Tribe and OBCs in the state will go up to 49.5 per cent. The sate government will also increase the seats in different state colleges and Universities to implement the quota. The reservation will come into effect after a notification by the government.

नॉर्वे में दो भारतीय बच्चों को उनके माता-पिता को सौंपने के बारे में भारत के विशेष दूत एम. गणपति ने आज ऑस्लो में नॉर्वे के विदेश मंत्री से सार्थक बातचीत की। श्री गणपति को बच्चों को बिना किसी देरी के उन्हें माता-पिता के सुपुर्द कराने के लिए नॉर्वे भेजा गया है। ऐश्वर्य और अभिज्ञान नाम के बच्चों की सुपुर्दगी के विवाद को मैत्रीपूर्ण ढंग से निपटाने के लिए वे नॉर्वे के विदेश मंत्री जोनास गार स्टोर से मिले। नॉर्वे के बाल-कल्याण अधिकारियों ने अपने बच्चों को कब्जे में लेकर उन्हें सामाजिक संस्था की देख-रेख में सौंप दिया था।

राजस्थान के अतिरिक्त पुलिस महानिदेशक ए. के. जैन ने आज जयपुर में विशेष अदालत में आत्मसमर्पण कर दिया। एक शराब तस्कर दारा सिंह की फर्जी मुठभेड़ में उनकी कथित भूमिका के लिए सीबीआई उनकी तलाश में थी। पिछले जून में सीबीआई द्वारा आरोप-पत्र दाखिल करने के बाद से ही ए. के.जैन फरार थे। सीबीआई ने उन पर इस तस्कर  की फर्जी मुठभेड़ की साजिश रचने का आरोप लगाया है। अदालत ने उन्हें न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया। सीबीआई कल उनकी रिमांड की मांग करेगी। सीबीआई ने, ए. के.जैन को भगोड़ा घोषित करने के अलावा उनकी सूचना देने वाले को दस लाख रूपये का ईनाम देने की भी घोषणा की  थी।

भारत ने, रक्षा मंत्री ए. के. एंटनी की अरूणाचल प्रदेश यात्रा पर सवाल उठाने वाले चीनी विदेश मंत्रालय के बयान को दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण और आपत्तिजनक बताया है। श्री एंटनी ने आज नई दिल्ली में पत्रकारों से कहा कि इस यात्रा पर चीन के ऐतराज पर उन्हें हैरत हो रही है। उन्होंने दोहराया कि अरूणाचल प्रदेश, भारत का अभिन्न अंग है।

इस बीच, विदेश मंत्री एस. एम. कृष्णा ने भी कहा है कि श्री एंटनी को अरूणाचल प्रदेश की यात्रा करने का पूरा अधिकार है।
  
हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि चीन ने शनिवार को श्री एंटनी की हाल की अरूणाचल प्रदेश की यात्रा पर ऐतराज जताया था और कहा था कि भारत को ऐसे सभी मामलों से दूर रहना चाहिए, जिससे सीमा विवाद और जटिल हो।

राष्ट्रीय जांच एजेंसी-एन आई ए- ने २००७ में समझौता एक्सप्रेस और २००८ में मालेगांव में हुए विस्फोट के मामलों में लोकेश शर्मा को आज औपचारिक रूप से गिरतार कर लिया। शर्मा को आज न्यायाधीश वाई. डी. शिंदे की मकोका अदालत में पेश किया गया। उसे हाल ही में इंदौर से गिरतार किया गया था और वह न्यायिक हिरासत में था। मकोका अदालत ने उसे नौ मार्च तक एन आई ए की हिरासत में भेज दिया। एन आई ए ने कहा कि २९ सितम्बर, २००८ को हुए, मालेगांव विस्फोट के सिलसिले में शर्मा से पूछताछ करने की जरूरत है। उसे इन विस्फोटों के संदिग्ध मुख्य षडयंत्रकारी सुनील जोशी का नजदीकी बताया जाता है।

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने केंद्र सरकार को निर्देश दिया है कि नदियों को जोड़ने की महत्वाकांक्षी परियोजना एक निश्चित समय सीमा में लागू की जाए। परियोजना लागू करने में हो रही देरी से इसकी बढ़ती लागत को देखते हुए न्यायमूर्ति एस. एच. कापड़िया की अध्यक्षता वाली ं तीन न्यायाधीशों की पीठ ने एक उच्च अधिकार प्राप्त समिति की नियुक्ति की है, जो इसे लागू करने के तौर-तरीके तय करेगी। इस समिति में केन्द्रीय जल संसाधन मंत्री, मंत्रालय के सचिव, पर्यावरण और वन मंत्रालय के सचिव तथा जल संसाधन मंत्रालय, वित्त मंत्रालय, योजना आयोग और पर्यावरण तथा वन मंत्रालय द्वारा नियुक्त चार विशेषज्ञ शामिल होंगे।

 मद्रास उच्च न्यायालय ने पुड्डूचेरी की अदालत को शंकररमण हत्या मामले में मुकदमे की कार्यवाही जारी रखने का आदेश दिया है। इस मामले में कांची के दो शंकराचार्य जयेन्द्र सरस्वती और विजयेन्द्र सरस्वती मुख्य अभियुक्त हैं। मुकदमे पर अपने पहले के आदेश को वापिस लेते हुए न्यायमूर्ति के एन बाशा और न्यायमूर्ति पॉल वसंत कुमार की खंडपीठ ने एक नए जज के अधीन मुकदमे की कार्यवाही फिर शुरू करने का निचली अदालत को आदेश दिया।

केरल उच्च न्यायालय ने निर्देश दिया है कि इटली के जहाज एनरिका लैक्सी को कल शाम पांच बजे तक कोच्चि से रवाना न होने दिया जाए। न्यायालय उन दो मछुआरों के परिजनों की याचिका पर विचार कर रहा है, जिन्हें इस जहाज के सशस्त्र कर्मचारियों ने १५ फरवरी को गोली मार दी थी। अदालत ने यह भी आदेश दिया कि इन याचिकाओं की सुनवाई उच्च न्यायालय की एक समुचित पीठ द्वारा की जाए। इस बीच, मछुआरों के एक संगठन के अध्यक्ष चार्ल्स जॉर्ज ने उच्चतम न्यायालय में आज एक याचिका दायर की कि इटली के इस जहाज के कप्तान को भी इस मामले में आरोपी बनाया जाए।

उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव के छठे चरण में अड़सठ निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में कल वोट डाले जाएंगे। चुनाव उपायुक्त विनोद ज+ुत्शी ने चुनाव वाले तेरह जिलों का दौरा करने के बाद तैयारियों पर संतोष व्यक्त किया है। मतदान केंद्रों पर सभी कर्मचारी पहुंच चुके हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि हरियाणा और दिल्ली से लगने वाली सीमा सील कर दी गई है।


राज्य में चुनाव से जुडे+ सभी विभाग कल होने वाले मतदान के लिए अब पूरी तरह से तैयार हैं। पिछले बाकी सभी चरणों में हुए चुनाव के तरह ही निर्वाचन आयोग ने कल के मतदान के लिए व्यापक बंदोबस्त किये हैं। २२ हजार से ज्यादा पोलिंग स्टेशन बनाये गये हैं। और सभी मत केन्द्रों पर वोटर हेल्पर्स भी मतदाताओं को वोट डालने में सहायता प्रदान करेंगे। राज्य के सीमावर्ती इलाकों और जिले की सीमाओं पर कड़ी चौकसी रखी जा रही है। सजयं प्रताप ंिसंह आकाशवाणी समाचार इलाहबाद।

राजस्थान विधानसभा के अध्यक्ष ने कांगे्रस में बहुजन समाज पार्टी के छह सदस्यों के विलय को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका आज खारिज कर दी। बहुजन समाज पार्टी के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष भगवान सिंह बावा ने यह याचिका दायर की थी। विधानसभा अध्यक्ष दीपेन्द्र सिंह  शेखावत ने अपने आदेश में कहा कि केवल विधायक ही विलय को चुनौती दे सकता है। बहुजन समाज पार्टी के सभी छह विधायक दो साल पहले कांगे्रस में शामिल हो गये थे। राजस्थान उच्च न्यायालय भी इस मामले की सुनवाई पहली मार्च को करेगा।

प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में मंत्री वी. नारायणसामी ने कहा है कि सरकार के पास इस बात के प्रमाण हैं कि तमिलनाडु में कुडनकुलम परमाणु बिजलीघर का विरोध करने वाले ग्रुप को विदेशी गैर-सरकारी संगठनों से पैसा मिलता रहा है। श्री नारायणसामी ने आज तूतीकोरिन जिले के तिरुचेंदूर में पत्रकारों से बातचीत में तमिलनाडु सरकार से इस परमाणु बिजलीघर के खिलाफ विरोध करने वाले लोगों पर दायर एक सौ छप्पन मामलों में कार्रवाई करने की मांग की।  सरकार के प्रधान वैज्ञानिक सलाहकार आर.चिदंबरम ने चेन्नई में पत्रकारों से कहा है कि चूंकि इस परमाणु बिजलीघर का विरोध कर रहे लोगों की चिंताएं दूर कर दी गई हैं, इसलिए इस बिजलीघर को जितनी जल्दी हो सके, चालू किया जाना चाहिए।
इधर, जनता पार्टी के अध्यक्ष डॉक्टर सुब्रहमण्यम स्वामी ने मांग की है कि केंद्र कुडनकुलम के विरोध में प्रदर्शन करने वालों को राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा अधिनियम के तहत गिरतार करें।

लंदन में होने वाले ओलंपिक खेलों की  प्रायोजक कंपनी डाउ कैमिकल्स के विरोध में कई संगठनों द्वारा बार-बार पत्र लिखे जाने के बाद, अब इस विवाद में भारत सरकार भी शामिल हो गई है। खेल मंत्रालय ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति से कहा है कि वह डाउ कैमिकल्स को इस साल लंदन में हो रहे ओलंपिक खेलों के प्रायोजन से हटा दे, क्योंकि इस कंपनी का भोपाल गैस त्रासदी से ताल्लुक है। एक अधिकारी ने आकाशवाणी को बताया कि खेल मंत्रालय ने इस बारे में शुक्रवार को अंतरराष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति को एक कड़ा पत्र लिखा है। अंतरराष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति यह कहती आई है कि वह १९८४ में भोपाल गैस कांड में शिकार हुए लोगों के साथ पूरी सहानुभूति रखती है, लेकिन सन्‌ २००० से पहले डाउ कैमिकल्स, यूनियन कार्बाइड कंपनी की स्वामी नहीं थी।

इस बीच, भारतीय ओलंपिक संघ, आई. ओ. ए. के कार्यवाहक अध्यक्ष विजय कुमार मल्होत्रा ने आज कहा कि जुलाई-अगस्त में लंदन में होने वाले ओलंपिक खेलों में भारत का लगभग ७० सदस्यीय दल हिस्सा लेगा। श्री मल्होत्रा ने संवाददाता सम्मेलन में कहा कि भारत के २९ खिलाडी ओलंपिक के लिए क्वालीफाई कर चुके थे और अब इसमें पुरष हाकी टीम भी शामिल हो चुकी है जिससे यह संख्या ४७ पहुंच गई है।

रूस के सरकारी टेलीविजन के अनुसार प्रधानमंत्री व्लादिमिर पुतिन की हत्या की साजिश के आरोप में दो व्यक्ति गिरतार किए गए हैं। चैनल-वन टीवी का कहना है कि श्री पुतिन की हत्या अगले रविवार को होने वाले राष्ट्रपति चुनाव के बाद करने की योजना थी। इस चुनाव में श्री पुतिन के जीतने की व्यापक संभावना बताई जाती है। इस चैनल के अनुसार ये दोनों व्यक्ति उक्रेन के शहर उडेसा से पकड़े गए हैं। बताया जाता है कि ये दोनों एक चेचन्या के एक नेता के लिए काम कर रहे थे।

बोम्बे स्टाक एक्सचेंज में आज लगातार पांचवे सत्र में गिरावट रही। सेंसेक्स ४७८ अंक लुढ़कर १७ हजार ४४६ पर बंद हुआ। नेशनल स्टाक एक्सचेंज का निफ्‌टी भी १४८ अंक गिरकर ५ हजार २८१ पर बंद हुआ। निवेशकों द्वारा भारी मुनाफा वसूली किये जाने से बाजार में गिरावट का सिलसिला जारी है।
 डालर के मुकाबले रुपये में आज २९ पैसे की कमजोरी आई। एक डालर की कीमत ४९ रुपये २२ पैसे रही।
 दिल्ली सर्राफा बाजार में सोना ३० रुपये टूटकर २८ हजार ८९५ रुपये प्रति दस ग्राम रहा। चांदी की कीमत भी डेढ़ सौ रुपये की गिरावट के साथ प्रति किलो ५८ हजार २५० रुपये रही।

 सरकार ने मजदूर संघों से देश हित में कल आम हड़ताल न करने की अपील की है। श्रम और रोजगार मंत्री मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे ने आज कहा कि मजदूर संघों द्वारा उठाए गए ज्यादातर मुद्दों को पहले ही काफी हद तक हल कर लिया गया है। उन्होंने आश्वासन दिया कि सरकार मजदूरों से जुड़े किसी भी मुद्दे पर किसी भी समय बातचीत के लिये तैयार है और इन्हें सौहार्दपूर्ण तरीके से हल किया जा सकता है।

India's Special Envoy M. Ganapathy today had discussions with the Norwegian Foreign Minister in Oslo regarding early return of the children, taken away from an NRI couple there. Mr. Ganpathy was rushed to Norway as a special envoy and met Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store to find an expeditious and amicable solution to the custody row of Aishwarya and Abhigyan who were taken away by child welfare officials in Norway and placed in foster care.

PTI reported that an official spokesperson in the MEA, Syed Akbaruddin, said in a tweet that the Indian special envoy has had positive discussions with the Norwegian Foreign Minister in Oslo. He also tweeted that the Special Envoy will meet Norway's Minister of Children, Equality And Social Inclusion, Audun Lysbakken later.

The grandparents of the two children held a sit-in near the Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi, launching a four-day protest demanding the Norwegian government to send the kids back to India immediately.

 "We are anxious and we are hopeful in our government that they are doing lawfully. We hope they must do something and we demand to Norway government don't try to linger the process, please send back them to India by 8th March."

India today termed as unfortunate and objectionable a recent statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry questioning Defence Minister A K Antony's visit to Arunachal Pradesh. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Antony said, he was surprised at the Chinese objection to the visit and reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India.

Arunachal  Pradesh  integral part of India just as Jammu and Kashmir, north eastern states and all other Indian states territory and as a Defence Minister I have the rights and it is my duty to visit all the border areas of our country."

After repeated letters of protest by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) failed to move the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Indian government has now stepped in the Dow Chemicals controversy. The Sports Ministry has asked the IOC to drop Dow Chemicals as sponsor of this year's London Games for the company's link to the Bhopal Gas tragedy. Speaking to AIR, an official said, the Sports Ministry has sent a strongly-worded letter to the IOC on Friday seeking Dow's removal as an Olympic sponsor.

In Uttar Pradesh, voters in 68 constituencies will exercise their franchise tomorrow for the sixth phase of polling in the state. Elaborate arrangements have been made for tomorrow's election. Our correspondent has filed this report.

 "The election machinery has geared up and ready for tomorrow’s poll. Fate of 1103 candidates including many stalwarts of western UP will be decided in tomorrow’s election . More than two crore voters could exercise their franchise for 68 constituencies of Meerut, Saharanpur, Agra and Aligarh divisions . Meanwhile, the campaign for the seventh and last phase touched its peak in the remaining 10 districts of the state.

Absconding Additional Director General of Rajasthan Police, A K Jain, wanted by the CBI for his role in the fake encounter of a liquor smuggler Dara Singh today surrendered before a special court in Jaipur. Jain had gone absconding after the CBI filed a chargesheet against him last June accusing him of masterminding the fake encounter of the smuggler. The court immediately sent him to judicial custody and the CBI would be moving for his remand tomorrow.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today formally arrested Lokesh Sharma, suspect in the 2007 Samjhauta Express Blast Case and 2008 Malegaon Blast Case. Sharma, who was in judicial custody after he was arrested from Indore recently, was produced before the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court of Y D Shinde who remanded him to NIA custody till March the 9th, 2012.

The Madras High Court today directed the Puducherry court to resume trial proceedings in the Sankarraman murder case in which the two Kanchi seers, Jayendra Saraswati and Vijayendra Saraswati are the prime accused.    Vacating a stay on trial granted by the high court earlier on a petition alleging that the trial was being influenced by the Kanchi Shankaracharya, a division bench of the Madras High Court ordered the trial court to resume proceedings under a new judge.

The Supreme Court today directed the Centre to implement the ambitious interlinking of rivers project in a time-bound manner. Observing that the project has already been delayed resulting in an increase in its cost, a three judge bench, headed by Justice S H Kapadia, appointed a high-powered committee to chart out and execute the project.

The committee will comprise Union Minister of Water Resources, the Secretary in the department, Secretary of Ministry of Environment and Forest  and four expert members appointed by Water Resources Ministry, Finance Ministry and Planning Commission. Representatives from state governments, two social activists and senior advocate Ranjit Kumar, who has been assisting the court in the case, will also be members of the committee.

High Speed trains, Dedicated Freight Corridors and modernisation of 19000 kilometres of track, are among the ambitious projects to be undertaken by the Indian Railways in the next five years at a cost of over 8.2 lakh crore rupees. These are the recommendations of the Expert Group Chaired by Sam Pitroda, submitted to Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi in New Delhi today. Speaking on the occasion, Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi said, to ensure safety, modernisation is a requirement and the roadmap laid out by the Expert Group looks at a future where the Indian Railways contributes to two per cent of the country's GDP.

 "We cannot expect the GDP to be at 8 or 9 without improving the Railway.  India is a engine of growth for the world.  India cannot grow if the Railways are stagnating at this level.  Railway has to add to the GDP and it can only add to the GDP if all the schemes whatever have been given. I have got to read in detail, we have  got to implement both the reports as much as we can."
Mr. Sam Pitroda, the Chairman of the Expert Group who attended through video conferencing from Chicago, said the Railways would strengthen 11,250 bridges to sustain higher load at higher speed, eliminate level crossings and implement automatic signalling system.

The Government has appealed to major Central trade unions not to go on countrywide general strike from tomorrow in the interest of the country. Minister for Labour Employment Mallikarjun Kharge  today said, most of the issues relating to labour raised by the trade unions have already been addressed to a substantial extent. The Minister  assured that the government is always open for discussions on any of the issues relating to labour at anytime.

"Falling for the fourth straight session, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange plunged 478 points, or 2.7 percent, to 17,446, today, on sustained profit-booking, and as falling global markets and rising crude oil prices hurt investor sentiment.  The Nifty dropped 148 points, or 2.7 percent, to 5,281. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea lost between 0.1 percent and 1.4 percent. The rupee weakened 29 paise, to 49.22 against the dollar. Gold rose 30 rupees, to 28,895 rupees per ten grams in Delhi. Silver gained 150 rupees, to 58,250 rupees per kilo. The Kerala High Court today directed that the Italian vessel Enrica Lexie should not be allowed to leave the Cochin coast till 5 pm tomorrow. The Court was considering the Admiralty petitions moved by the relatives of the two deceased fishermen, who were shot dead by the armed naval personnel on board the vessel on the 15th of this month.

According to Russian state television, two men have been arrested on suspicion of planning to assassinate Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Channel One TV said, the plot was planned after the Presidential election next Sunday, which Mr Putin is widely expected to win. The television said, the arrests were made in the Ukrainian city of Odessa.  Further investigation is underway.

The Enforcement Directorate today issued summons against two former employees of United Bank of Switzerland (UBS) to appear before a special court in Mumbai between April 9 and 13. On the directions of a local court the summons were issued in connection with the multi-crore money laundering probe being carried out against Pune based stud-farm owner Hasan Ali Khan. The summons issued are against former executive Director of UBS, Prabhu Guptara and another former employee Peter Willie under section 59 (1) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This section is used for reciprocal arrangements for processes and assistance for transfer of accused persons.

The Minister in Prime Minister’s office, Mr V.Narayanasamy has said that the government has evidence that the group spearheading the anti-Kundankulam agitation, had been receiving funds from foreign based NGO’s. Speaking to newsmen in Tiruchendur in Tuticorin district this morning, he demanded that the Tamil Nadu government take action on the 156 cases filed against those involved in the protests against the nuclear power project.
