Air India Management  and agitating pilots have begun talks to end the Air India strike. Air India sources while confirming this said that a two-member team of the Ministry, headed by Joint Secretary Prashant Shukul, has been set up to have talks with the pilots. The government has shown flexibility and accepted the demands to reinstate sacked pilots and recognise the Indian Commercial Pilots Association. But the agitating pilots are adamant that they will  join duties only after their demands of pay parity and alleged corruption in the national carrier are met.  The management is however keen that they should join duties immediately as the concerned committees are looking into their demands.

Justice Dhananjay Chandrachud, however, rejected the petition filed by Sahara claiming 2,000 crore rupee as the amount for the takeover instead of the renegotiated amount of  1,450 crore rupees agreed between Jet and Sahara. The judge held that Jet Airways was liable to pay Sahara  478 crore rupees, which includes interest at 9 per cent per annum.

Tomorrow's elections being held mainly in rural and small township areas, the political parties are relying more on street corner meetings, cycle rallies and padyatras apart from public rallies to woo the voters. The US President Barack Obama has said the pictures of Osama bin Laden's dead body will not be released.  He said this in an interview to a news channel in Washington. President Obama said, he would not release the post-mortem images of bin Laden taken to prove his death. CIA Director Leon Panetta had said earlier that the pictures were gruesome and a final decision on whether to release them would be taken by the White House. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney had said the pictures might inflame passions.
It is important for us to make sure that very graphic photos of somebody who was short in the head are not floating around as an incitement to additional violence or as a  propoganda tool. Thats not who we are. We don't try out this stuff as trophies.
President Obama will participate in a wreath laying ceremony at Ground Zero in New York today to mark the killing of Osama bin Laden.
The US Attorney General Eric Holder has defended the legality of the operation against Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.  Justifying it as an act of national self defence, he said, it is lawful to target an enemy commander in the field. Intelligence agencies combing through computers and storage devices found at Osama bin Laden's compound expect to find a gold mine of data that could expose terror plots, the location of Al Qaeda members and funding sources.

New Delhi says the killing of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Pakistan will not change the course of Indo-Pak dialogue but made it clear that use of terrorism as a policy to further strategic goals is unacceptable. Highly placed sources said what was sensational was the fact that Bin Laden was found living in a large mansion in Abbotabad, 80 kms from Islamabad. Sources said India was concerned over the presence of terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan which remain a serious threat to India.
The U.S. Ambassador to India has said that Pakistan needs to show progress and results in  Mumbai terror trials. Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the Home Minister in New Delhi Timothy J Roemer said, America continues to encourage Pakistan to show results on Mumbai trials, to take on LeT as a terrorist group and to make sure that people like Lakhvi stay in prison. He said, New Delhi and Washington are sharing intelligence and best practices which is crucial for the two countries' interests.
Congress says Pakistan should take concrete action to demolish the terror infrastructure on its soil before the next round of talks. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, party spokesperson Jayanti Natrajan said terrorism remains to be a core issue in the Indo-Pak talks.
The issue of terror remains at centre stage. And the issue of stopping of Pakistan sponsorer terror is something that has to be addressed at the earliest before there can be any further progress in our talks and this is something that has always been of primery importance in all our dialogues with Pakistan.
The BJP has urged the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to introspect on the government's policy of continuing dialogue with Pakistan. Talking to reporters, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said Pakistan can no longer claim to be a victim of terror.
India's legitimate concern that those who have perpetrated terror in India are also housed comfortably in Pakistan is no longer in doubt.  Pakistan can no longer claim to be a victim of terror. Pakistan is the sponsorer and user of terror, not its victim.
