भारत के नवीनतम संचार उपग्रह जी-सैट - ८ आज सफलतापूर्वक अंतरिक्ष में छोड़ा गया। इससे देश की डीटीएच सेवा को बढ़ावा मिलेगा। इसे बंगलुरू स्थित भारतीय अतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन इसरो ने बनाया है। इसरो के प्रवक्ता एस सतीश के अनुसार उपग्रह से संकेत मिलने लगे हैं।
आज सुबह दो बजकर आठ मिनट पर भारत के संचार उपग्रह जीसेट-८ कौरू फ्रैंच गुयाना से एरियान राकेट में छोड़ा गया और एक सेटेलाइट चौबीस के यू बैंड ट्रांसपोंडर्स के साथ गगन पे लोड भी इस्तेमाल किया है और यह भारत का सबसे हैवी सेटेलाइट है। तीस मिनट के बाद रॉकेट से अलग होकर कक्षा में एंटर हो गया और इसरो के मास्टर कंट्रोल फैसिलिटी हासन में इसका सिगनल प्राप्त हुआ। इनीशियल इंडीकेशन पर यह सेटेलाइट ठीक तरह से काम कर रहा है और आगे दिनों में इसको ३६००० किलोमीटर सर्किल जीओस्टेशन ऑर्बिट तक ले के जायेगा।
 इसरो की टीम ने उपग्रह के सफल प्रक्षेपण पर प्रसन्नता व्यक्त की। इसरो प्रमुख श्री राधाकृष्णन ने कहा कि उपग्रहों का इस्तेमाल करने वाले राष्ट्रीय उपग्रह प्रणाली में २४ उच्च क्षमता वाले के.यू. बैंड ट्रांसपोंडर चालू होने की उत्सुकता से प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं।
 इसरो के अधिकारियों ने कहा कि उन्हें जी-सैट-८ के सफल प्रक्षेपण से बहुत खुशी हुई है क्योंकि पिछले वर्ष दो बार भारत से जी एस एल वी से उपग्रहों का प्रक्षेपण नाकाम रहा था। उधर, ट्रांसपॉंडर क्षमता बढ़ाने की बहुत ज+रूरत थी।
 जी-सैट-८ के २४ ट्रांसपोंडर देश की के यू बैंड रिले क्षमता बहुत बढ़ देंगे और अब डीटीएच सेवा पूरे भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप तक पहुंच सकेगी। इसके अलावा दो चैनल वाली गगन प्रणाली से भारत में विमानों के संचालन में सहायता मिलेगी।

रक्षामंत्री ए के एन्टनी ने देश के सशस्त्र बलों के तेजी से आधुनिकीकरण का आह्‌वान किया है। कल नई दिल्ली में एकीकृत कमान के सम्मेलन में श्री एन्टनी ने कहा कि जिस तरह पुरानी अर्थव्यवस्था की जगह नई अर्थव्यवस्था ने ली है, उसी तरह देश के सशस्त्र बलों के आधुनिकीकरण के लिए भी नया मार्ग प्रशस्त होना चाहिए। उन्होंने कमान्डरों से कहा कि अपेक्षित लक्ष्य हासिल करने के लिए योजनाएं कारगर ढंग से लागू की जाए। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार की योजनाओं को साकार करना सेना के कमान्डरों पर निर्भर करता है।

पश्चिम बंगाल में नई सरकार शांति स्थापना और आर्थिक विकास की गति तेज+ करने को प्राथमिकता देगी। मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में शपथ लेने के बाद पत्रकारों से बातचीत में सुश्री ममता बैनर्जी ने कहा कि प्रशासन से अवैध हथियारों की बरामदगी करने को कहा गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि राज्य मंत्रिमंडल ने राजनीतिक बंदियों की रिहाई के लिए समीक्षा समिति के गठन का फैसला भी किया है। मुख्यमंत्री ने दार्जिलिंग और जंगल महल में जारी समस्याएं दूर करने को भी महत्वपूर्ण बताया। इस क्षेत्र के लिए विशेष विकास पैकेज की घोषणा करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि उनकी सरकार किसी भी आंदोलनकारी गुट के साथ बातचीत को तैयार है।
 सुश्री बैनर्जी ने सिंगूर में ४०० एकड़ ज+मीन उन किसानों को लौटाने की घोषणा की जिनको नैनो कार परियोजना के लिए जबरन जमीन देनी पड़ी थी। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार टाटा मोटर्स का स्वागत करेगी, अगर वह शेष ६०० एकड़ जमीन पर कार फैक्टरी लगाने को तैयार हो।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि राज्य मंत्रिमंडल ने महात्मा गांधी राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण रोजगार गारंटी योजना तेजी से लागू करने और बीपीएल कार्डों के कारगर वितरण के लिए एक अलग मंत्रालय बनाने का भी फैसला किया है। राज्यपाल एम के नारायणन ने कल सुश्री ममता बैनर्जी और उनके मंत्रिमंडल में ३८ मंत्रियों को पद और गोपनीयता की शपथ दिलाई। इनमें दो मंत्री कांग्रेस के हैं।

 डी.एम. के. सांसद कनीमोरी और कलईनागर टीवी के प्रबंध निदेशक शरद कुमार को टूजी स्पेक्ट्रम मामले में हिरासत में ले लिया गया है। दिल्ली में सीबीआई की अदालत ने कल इस मामले में इन दोनों की जमानत याचिका खारिज करते हुए इनकी गिरफ्तारी के आदेश दिए। कनीमोड़ी पर टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले में शामिल लोगों के साथ मिलकर कथित रूप से साजिश रचने का आरोप है। उन्हें आज अदालत में पेश किया जाएगा।

जम्मू-कश्मीर में पंचायत चुनाव के दसवें चरण के लिए आज मतदान हो रहा है। इस चरण में राज्य के ग्यारह ब्लॉकों की तीन सौ चार पंचायतों के लिए चुनाव हो रहा है। इनमें से कश्मीर के पांच ब्लॉक तीतवाल, पाटन, हजन और दछनीपुरा और जम्मू डिविजन के इंदरवाल, असार, थतरी, बनीहाल, खोर और बालाकोट ब्लॉक हैं। हमारे श्रीनगर संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि पहले नौ चरणों में लगभग ८० प्रतिशत मतदान हुआ है।

जम्मू-कश्मीर के बारे में केन्द्र के वार्ताकारों ने कहा है कि वे कश्मीर घाटी के आठवें दौरे की रिपोर्ट शीघ्र ही केन्द्रीय गृहमंत्री पी चिदम्बरम्‌ को सौंप देंगे। मुख्य वार्ताकार दिलीप पडगांवकर ने नई दिल्ली रवाना होने से पहले कल समाचार एजेंसी पीटीआई को बताया कि उनके दल ने विभिन्न राजनीतिक दलों, स्थानीय सरकार, आरटीआई कार्यकर्ताओं, नागरिक अधिकार संगठनों, किसानों, युवाओं और महिलाओं के स्व-सहायता समूहों के लगभग तीस प्रतिनिधिमंडलों के साथ बातचीत की है। रिपोर्ट में वार्ताकारों के विश्लेषण के साथ उनके विचार शामिल किये जायेंगे। श्री पडगांवकर दल के अन्य दो सदस्यों- राधा कुमार और एम एम अंसारी के साथ १५ मई को श्रीनगर पहुंचे थे। पिछले वर्ष अक्तूबर में दल के गठन के बाद से यह घाटी की उसकी आठवीं यात्रा है।

केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की राजनीतिक मामलों की समिति ने कल रात कर्नाटक में राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाने की राज्यपाल हंसराज भारद्वाज की  सिफारिश पर चर्चा की, लेकिन रविवार को फिर बैठक करने का फैसला किया। बैठक की अध्यक्षता प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने की। राज्यपाल की विशेष रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि राज्य में संवैधानिक तंत्र ठप्प होने के कारण विधानसभा को निलंबन की स्थिति में रखा जाए। ऐसे संकेत हैं कि सरकार राज्यपाल की सिफारिश को स्वीकार करने की हड़बड़ी में नहीं है और हो सकता है उसे नामंजूर कर दिया जाए।
कर्नाटक मंत्रिमंडल ने राज्यपाल से अगले महीने की शुरुआत में विधानसभा का सत्र बुलाने को कहा है, लेकिन उन्होंने इस पर अभी कोई फैसला नहीं किया है क्योंकि उन्हें केंद्र के फैसले का इंतज+ार है।
भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने विधानसभा का सत्र बुलाने पर राज्यपाल की मंजूरी की मांग करते हुए कल बंगलुरू में धरना दिया।
उधर, प्रदेश कांगे्रस प्रभारी मधुसूदन मिस्त्री की अगुवाई में कांग्रेस के शिष्टमंडल ने नई दिल्ली में गृहमंत्री पी. चिदम्बरम से मिलकर उच्चतम न्यायालय के फैसले के अनुरूप उचित कार्रवाई करने के अनुरोध का ज्ञापन उन्हें सौंपा।

श्रम मंत्री मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे ने सभी राज्यों से कहा है कि वे राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य बीमा योजना को लागू करने में अधिक रुचि लें। इस योजना के तहत गरीबी रेखा से नीचे के परिवारों को प्रति वर्ष तीस हजार रुपये तक के इलाज की सुविधा मिलेगी। कल हैदराबाद में कर्मचारी राज्य बीमा निगम डेंटल कॉलेज की आधारशिला रखने के बाद उन्होंने पत्रकारों को बताया कि २२ राज्यों में यह योजना लागू हो चुकी है जबकि आन्ध्र प्रदेश और कर्नाटक में इस वर्ष से लागू हो जायेगी। उन्होंने बताया कि गरीब परिवारों को दो स्मार्ट कार्ड दिये जायेंगे जिनमें से एक परिवार के मुखिया के लिए और दूसरा परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों के लिए होगा। इन कार्डो के जरिए किसी भी राज्य में चिकित्सा सुविधा का लाभ उठाया जा सकेगा।

भारत और पाकिस्तान द्विपक्षीय वार्ता के दायरे में सरक्रीक मुद्दे पर चर्चा जारी रखेंगे। दो दिन की वार्ता कल रावलपिंडी में पाकिस्तान के रक्षा मंत्रालय में शुरू हुई। दोनों देश चार वर्ष के अन्तराल के बाद समुद्री सीमा विवाद पर बातचीत कर रहे हैं। भारत के महासर्वेक्षक एस सुब्बाराव के नेतृत्व में आठ सदस्यों का प्रतिनिधिमंडल वार्ता में हिस्सा ले रहा है जबकि पाकिस्तानी दल का नेतृत्व अपर रक्षा सचिव रियर एडमिरल शाह सोहेल मसूद कर रहे हैं।
 ार साल पहले सरक्रीक मुद्दे पर वार्ता में दोनों देशों ने भारत में गुजरात और पाकिस्तान के सिंध प्रांत के बीच ९६ किलोमीटर लम्बे कच्छ के रण का विवाद सुलझाने में महत्वपूर्ण प्रगति की थी।

पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री राजीव गांधी की बीसवीं पुण्यतिथि आज देश भर में आतंकवाद विरोध दिवस के रूप में मनाई जा रही है। वर्ष १९९१ में आज ही के दिन देश के सबसे युवा प्रधानमंत्री को तमिलनाडु में एक रैली को संबोधित करते समय आत्मघाती हमलावर ने निशाना बनाया था। नई दिल्ली में राजीव गांधी की समाधि वीर भूमि पर विशेष कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया है। स्कूलों, कॉलेजों और विश्वविद्यालयों में चर्चा, संगोष्ठी और वाद-विवाद प्रतियोगिताओं सहित अनेक कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन किया जा रहा है।

राष्ट्रीय राजधानी सहित उत्तर भारत के कुछ हिस्सों में कल तापमान में मामूली गिरावट आई जिससे लोगों को कुछ राहत मिली। दिल्ली में अधिकतम तापमान ४० डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि चंडीगढ़ और उसके आसपास के इलाकों में कल रात से बारिश हो रही है।
गत रात की तेज हवाओं और दरमियानी वर्षा ने क्षेत्र में जनजीवन को प्रभावित किया है। मौसम विभाग का कहना है कि अब कुछ दिन तक तापमान सामान्य से कम चलेगा। मानसून से पहले की इस वर्षा से अब किसान चारे वाली फसल की बिजाई कर सकते हैं और खरीफ फसल के लिए जमीन तैयार करने में भी इस वर्षा से मदद मिलेगी।

उत्तर प्रदेश में भी आंधी और हल्की बारिश से गर्मी से राहत मिली है। लखनऊ में दिन का तापमान सामान्य से चार डिग्री कम ३६ दशमलव एक रिकॉर्ड किया गया, हालांकि झांसी ४४ दशमलव ५ डिग्री सेल्सियस तापमान के साथ प्रदेश का सबसे गर्म स्थान रहा।
 उत्तराखंड में वर्षा से तापमान में गिरावट आई। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि मौसम विभाग ने अगले २४ घंटों में राज्य के कई हिस्सों में बारिश और पर्वतीय इलाकों में बर्फ पड़ने की संभावना बताई है।
देहरादून में आज सुबह हुई बारिश के साथ ही मौसम सुहाना हो गया है। बारिश के परिणाम स्वरूप कल तक गर्मी से परेशान दून घाटी के लोग आज राहत महसूस कर रहे हैं। इस बीच, उत्तरकाशी, टिहरी, पिथौरागढ़ सहित राज्य के विभिन्न हिस्सों में कल रात ओले गिरने के साथ ही बारिश से फसलों को नुकसान पहुंचा है।

India's latest communication satellite GSAT-8 was successfully launched early this morning by Arianespace from Kourou in French Guiana. GSAT-8 was injected into space by European launcher Arianespace's Ariane 5 rocket which lifted-off at 2.08 am Indian Standard Time with Japan's ST-2 spacecraft as co-passenger.  Weighing 3,100 kg at lift-off, GSAT-8 is one of the heaviest and high-powered satellites built by the Bangalore-headquartered Indian Space Research Organisation. 

The satellite will boost  Direct to Home Services in the country.  The 24 Ku band transponders will augment the capacity in the INSAT system. The GAGAN payload provides the Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS), through which the accuracy of the positioning information obtained from the GPS Satellite is improved by a network of ground based receivers and made available to the users in Aviation sector in the country through the geo-stationary satellites.

ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan expressed delight over the successful mission.

Organisation is delighted on the successful launch of its communication satellite GSAT-8 by Ariane-5 in its 58 flight.  We congratulate Arianespace and its partners on this successful mission.  I am extremely happy to announce that ISRO's master control facility at Hassan near Bangalore has confirmed the reception of signals from GSAT-8 and taken charge of the command and control of GSAT-8 immediately after its injection into Geo-stationary transfer orbit.

Restoration of peace and speedy economic development will be high on the agenda of the new West Bengal government. Talking to reporters after being sworn-in as the Chief Minister yesterday, Ms. Mamta Benerjee said that the administration has been asked to work on top priority to recover illegal arms. She said the state cabinet has also decided to set up a review committee for the release of political prisoners. The Chief Minister also advocated the resolving of ongoing problems in the Darjeeling Hill and Jungle Mahal.  Announcing a special development package for the region, she said her government is ready to talk to any group agitating now.

Ms. Banerjee announced the government's decision to return 400 acres of land to farmers at Singur who unwillingly parted with their land for the Nano project. She said government will welcome Tata group if they agree to set up car factory on the remaining 600 acres of land.

The Chief Minister said that the state cabinet has also decided to set up a separate ministry for the speedy implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and effective distribution of BPL cards.

The state Governor  Mr. M.K. Narayanan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ms. Mamata Banerjee and her 38 ministers including two from Congress yesterday.

DMK MP Kanimozhi, arrested in the 2G Spectrum Case, will be produced before the CBI Court in Delhi this morning. She was arrested yesterday along with Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar after the rejection of her bail plea in the 2G spectrum case. Both Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar have been charge sheeted by CBI for allegedly conspiring with former Telecom Minister A Raja, the key accused in the case.

In  Chennai, top DMK leaders went into a huddle at the residence of party chief M Karunanidhi in wake of Delhi Court order. In his first reaction to the news of the arrest of his daughter, Karunanidhi said they will consult legal experts and decide the next course of action. The Congress said that the arrest of Kanimozhi, daughter of   former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi will have no impact on its alliance with the DMK. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Party Spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi that the alliance will remain unaffected.

The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, CCPA last night discussed Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj's recommendation for imposition of President's rule in the state but decided to meet again tomorrow. The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh discussed the special report sent by the Governor, who also recommended keeping the Assembly in suspended animation contending that there was a breakdown of Constitutional machinery. The CCPA discussion took place amid indications that the government is not in a hurry to accept the Governor's recommendation. Sources even suggested that it could be rejected.

The Governor, who has been asked by the State Cabinet to convene a session of the Assembly early next month, has refused to do so indicating that he is expecting a decision from the Centre in a couple of days.

Temperature dropped marginally in some parts of northern India including the national capital yesterday providing some respite to the people. Delhiites experienced a slightly less warm day with the mercury going down to settle at 40 deg C.

Heat wave conditions relented in the plains of Punjab and Haryana, with mercury dropping by up to 4 degrees below normal in the region. AIR correspondent reports that  Chandigarh and its surrounding areas are experiencing rain since last night.

Moderate rain with heavy winds has disturbed life last night; but it has given much relief to the people of the region from scorching heat and high temperature.  MET office says, now temperature will remain below normal for few days.  This pre-monsoon shower will help farmers for sowing fodder crops and in preparing soil for the Kharif crop.  J.S. Thunderstorm and light rain also gave some relief to the people in Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow had a day temperature of 36.1 deg C, four notches below normal while Jhansi was the hottest in the state with 44.5 deg C.

In Uttarakhand also, mercury dropped following rain in different parts of the state. AIR Correspondent reports that Met Department has predicted rain at many places in the state and snowfall at higher reaches during the next 24 hours.

The people of doon valley today woke  up to a pleasant morning as rain drenched most parts of the state  capital. According to reports rain with hailstorm was reported from Uttarkashi, Tehri, Pitthoragarh and some other places. Rain accompanied with hailstorm damaged horticulture crops in the fruit belt of the state. Director MET Department Anand Sharma told AIR that the western disturbance has changed the weather in the state. The present conditions may prevail for the next 24 hours. Centre's interlocutors on Jammu and Kashmir have said they will shortly submit a report on their eighth visit to the Kashmir Valley to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram. India and Pakistan will continue their talks today on the Sir Creek issue as part of a bilateral dialogue process. The two-day talks, which began yesterday, are being held at the Pak Defence Ministry in the garrison city of Rawalpindi. The two countries are holding parleys on the maritime boundary dispute after a gap of four years. An eight-member delegation led by Surveyor General of India S Subba Rao is participating in the talks while the Pakistani side is headed by Additional Defence Secretary Rear Admiral Shah Sohail Masood.

Anti-Terrorism Day is being observed across the country today to mark the 20th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. It was on this day in 1991 that the youngest Prime Minister of India was assassinated by a suicide bomber.  जम्मू कश्मीर में पंचायत चुनाव के दसवें चरण  में आज जम्मू और कश्मीर डिवीजन के  ११ ब्लॉकों में सुरक्षा प्रबन्धों के बीच सुचारू रूप से मतदान चल रहा है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि जम्मू डिवीजन के छह और कश्मीर डिवीजन के पॉंच ब्लॉकों में आज सुबह आठ बजे से मतदान शुरू हुआ।

बारह बजें दोपहर में राज्य  के ११ ब्लॉकों में ४८ प्रपिशत मतदान रिकार्ड किया गया। बांडीपुरा जिला के हाजिर पुरा ब्लॉक में ६५ प्रतिशत मतदान जबकि सीमावर्ती जिला कुफवाडी के टीटवल ब्लॉक में ६५ प्रतिशत मतदान रिकार्ड किया गया।जम्मू सवाद के छह ब्लॉक के मतदान तेजी से हो रहा हैं--में सक्त गर्मी के बावजुद जिला जम्मू के फोड़ ब्लॉक में मतदान केंद्रो के  बाहर आज सुबह से मतदाताओं की लंबी कतारें देखी को मिली जो कि गर्मी के प्रकोप से बचने के  लिए  जल्दी मतदाना करना चाहते थें। बाहर बजे तक फोड़ ब्लॉक में ५१ प्रतिशत मतदाता वोट डाले थे। टुडा जिले के असर और ढासे ब्लॉकों में ४८ -४८ प्रतिशत मतदान हुआ। अभी तक मतदान सुचारू रूप से जारी था।  और  कही से भी किसी अप्रिय घटना का समाचार नहीं प्राप्त हुआ था। आकाशवाणी समाचार  के लिए जम्मू से आरके रैना

राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग ने  इस महीने की सात तारीख  को ग्रेटर नोएडा में भट्टापरसौल में गोली चलायी जाने की घटना की तुरन्त सी बी आई से जांच कराये जाने की मांग की है। आयोग की कार्यवाहक अध्यक्ष यासमीन अबरार ने आज नई दिल्ली में आरोप लगाया कि उत्तरप्रदेश पुलिस ने दो गांवों में बलात्कार और हत्याओं जैसी गंभीर ज्यादतियां की। उन्होंने कहा कि सी बी आई से निष्पक्ष जांच कराकर ही सच्चाई का पता चलेगा, क्योंकि राज्य पुलिस भी इसमें शामिल है। उन्होंने उत्तरप्रदेश सरकार से भी इस घटना के बारे में एफ आई आर दर्ज कराने और दोषियों को पकड़ने को कहा। सुश्री अबरार ने कहा कि कई गांववासी अब भी लापता है और वहां लगे हुए राख के ढेरों की जांच की जानी चाहिए, क्योंकि इस इलाके के लोगों का दावा है कि इस राख में मानव अस्थियां हैं। राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग के एक दल ने स्थिति का मौके पर जायजा लेने के लिए इन गांवों का दौरा किया। उत्तरप्रदेश सरकार भट्टापरसौल गोलीबारी की घटना की पहले ही मजिस्ट्रेट से जांच के आदेश दे चुकी है। पुलिस और किसानों के बीच झड़पों में दो किसान और पी ए सी के दो जवान मारे गए थे। इससे पहले कांग्रेस महासचिव राहुल गांधी ने किसानों के समर्थन में गांव का दौरा किया था। ये किसान दिल्ली और आगरा के बीच १५६ किलोमीटर लम्बे यमुना एक्सप्रेस मार्ग के लिए भूमि अधिग्रहण के बदले ज्यादा मुआवजे की मांग को लेकर आंदोलन कर रहे हैं।

 ओड़ीशा में माओवादियों ने आज अपने दो दिन के बंद के पहले दिन सुंदरगढ़ जिले में रेल पटरी उड़ा दी और कम से कम नौ डम्परों को आग लगा दी। उन्होंने राऊरकेला से करीब ९० किलोमीटर दूर रनजेदा और रॉक्सी रेलवे स्टेशनों के बीच विस्फोट करके रेल पटरियों का एक हिस्सा उड़ा दिया। राऊरकेला -किरबूर सैक्शन पर किए गए इस विस्फोट में किसी के हताहत होने का समाचार नहीं है। विस्फोट के कारण राऊरकेला इस्पात संयंत्र से लौह अयस्क और अन्य सामग्री को ढोने वाली मालगाड़ियों के आने जाने में बाधा आ रही है। एक अन्य घटना में माओवादियों ने सुंदरगढ़ जिले के कोएडा थाना क्षेत्र में चूनाघाटी में राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर कम से कम नौ डम्परों को आग लगा दी। माओवादियों ने अपने वरिष्ठ नेताओं की जेल से रिहाई और सुरक्षा बलों की कथित ज्यादतियों के विरोध में दो दिन का बंद रखने को कहा है। मलकानगिरी, रायगढ़, कोरापुट, गजपति और कंधमाल जैसे अन्य माओवाद प्रभावित जिलों में भी बंद के कारण जनजीवन प्रभावित है।

 भारत के नवीनतम संचार उपग्रह जी-सैट - ८ को आज सफलतापूर्वक अंतरिक्ष में छोड़ा गया। इससे देश की डी टी एच सेवा को बढ़ावा मिलेगा। इसे बंगलौर स्थित भारतीय अतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन इसरो ने बनाया है। इसरो के प्रवक्ता एस सतीश के अनुसार उपग्रह से संकेत मिलने लगे हैं।
आज सुबह दो बजकर आठ मिनट पर भारत के संचार उपग्रह जीसेट-८ कौरू फ्रैंच गुयाना से एरियान राकेट में छोड़ा गया और एक सेटेलाइट चौबीस के यू बैंड ट्रांसपोंडर्स के साथ गगन पे लोड भी इस्तेमाल किया है और यह भारत का सबसे हैवी सेटेलाइट है। तीस मिनट के बाद रॉकेट से अलग होकर कक्षा में एंटर हो गया और इसरो के मास्टर कंट्रोल फैसिलिटी हासन में इसका सिगनल प्राप्त हुआ। इनीशियल इंडीकेशन पर यह सेटेलाइट ठीक तरह से काम कर रहा है और आगे दिनों में इसको ३६००० किलोमीटर सर्किल जीओस्टेशन ऑर्बिट तक ले के जायेगा।
 इसरो टीम ने उपग्रह के सफल प्रक्षेपण पर प्रसन्नता व्यक्त की। इसरो प्रमुख राधाकृष्णन ने कहा कि उपग्रहों का इस्तेमाल करने वाले राष्ट्रीय उपग्रह प्रणाली में २४ उच्च क्षमता वाले के.यू. बैंड ट्रांसपोंडर चालू होने की उत्सुकता से प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं। जी-सैट-८ के २४ ट्रांसपोंडर देश में के यू बैंड रिले क्षमता बहुत बढ़ देंगे और अब डीटीएच सेवा पूरे भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप तक पहुंच सकेगी। इसके अलावा दो चैनल वाली गगन प्रणाली से भारत में विमानों के संचालन में सहायता मिलेगी।

 देश में विकसित मिसाइल ÷अस्त्र' का आज ओड़ीशा में चांदीपुर के समन्वित परीक्षण स्थल से लगातार दूसरे दिन सफल परीक्षण किया गया। रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन के सूत्रों ने कहा है कि सवेरे करीब १० बजकर ३२ मिनट पर हवा से हवा में मार करने वाली इस मिसाइल का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया गया। हमारे संवाददाता ने संगठन के अधिकारियों के हवाले से बताया कि यह मिसाइल अमरीका, रूस और फ्रांस की इसी श्रेणी की मिसाइलों से ज्यादा उन्नत है।

इस सत्र मिशाइल  में सुपर सोनी गिफ्तर में आमने सामने ८० किलोमीटर दूरी तक और पीछा करते हुए २० किलोमीटर तक दुश्मन के विमान को मार गिराने की क्षमता है। डी आर डीओ ने कहा कि अस्त्र एस यू ३० एम के आई मिग २९ और हल्के विमान  तेजस जैसे लड़ाकू विमान के साथ जुडने से पहले मैदान और लड़ाकू विमान से संबंधित और कुछ कठिन परीक्षण से गुजरेगी। कल आई टी आर के चांदीपुर से अस्त्र का व्यावहारिक परीक्षण किया गया था। आज और कल अस्त्र के और भी परीक्षण किये जाने की संभावना है। प्रकाश दास आकाशवाणी सामचार

 केन्द्रीय गृह मंत्रालय ने राज्य सरकारों और जांच एजेंसियों से कहा है कि मंत्रालय द्वारा तैयार की गई वांछित लोगों की सूची में शामिल किसी भगोड़े को अगर गिरफ्‌तार किया गया है तो वे तुरंत उसकी पुष्टि करें और मंत्रालय को  सूचना दें। गृह मंत्रालय ने पाकिस्तान को सौंपी गई ५० वांछित लोगों की सूची में शामिल दो भगोड़े आतंकवादियों के देश में ही मौजूद होने पर हुए विवाद के मद्देनजर राज्य सरकारों और जांच एजेंसियों को यह परामर्श जारी किया है। गृह मंत्रालय के एक वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने बताया कि ये सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कई उपाय किये गये हैं कि देश में गिरफ्‌तार भगोड़ों के नाम वांछित लोगो की सूची से हटा दिए गए हैं और सूची में कोई खामी नहीं है। इन्हीं उपायों के तहत यह परामर्श भी जारी किया गया है।

 पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री राजीव गांधी की २०वीं पुण्यतिथि , आज देशभर में आतंकवाद विरोधी दिवस के रूप में मनाई जा रही है।  १९९१ में आज ही के दिन श्री राजीव गांधी की, तमिलनाडु में श्रीपेरूम्बदूर में एक चुनाव रैली के दौरान आत्मघाती हमले में हत्या कर दी गई थी।नई दिल्ली में आज सवेरे राजीव गांधी की समाधि वीरभूमि पर विशेष प्रार्थना सभा आयोजित की गई।  राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटिल, उपराष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी, प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह, कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी, कांग्रेस महासचिव राहुल गांधी तथा उनकी बहन प्रिंयका व+ढरा और कई अन्य नेताओं ने राजीव गांधी की समाधि पर श्रद्धा सुमन अर्पित किये। इस अवसर पर कई कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जा रहे हैं। सभी सरकारी कार्यालयों, सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के उपक्रमों और अन्य जन संस्थानों में आतंकवाद तथा हिंसा विरोधी शपथ दिलाई गई। जो कार्यालय आज बंद हैं वहां कल ही शपथ दिला दी गई थी। आतंकवाद विरोध दिवस मनाने का उद्देश्य यह है कि आतंकवाद और हिंसा से आम लोगों को होने वाली तकलीफों और राष्ट्रीय हित को होने वाले नुकसान के बारे में जानकारी देकर युवाओं को इनसे दूर रखा जाए।

 केरल में आज थिरूअनन्तपुरम में मुख्यमंत्री ओमन चांडी के नेतृत्व में आज आतंकवाद विरोधी दिवस मनाया जा रहा है। इस अवसर पर राज्य सचिवालय में आयोजित समारोह में मुख्यमंत्री ने अधिकारियों को आतंकवाद के खिलाफ शपथ दिलाई। तमिलनाडु में श्रीपेरम्बदूर में दिवंगत प्रधानमंत्री के स्मारक पर उनकी पुण्यतिथि पर श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की गई। इस अवसर पर केन्द्रीय जहाजरानी मंत्री जी० के० वासन, तमिलनाडु कांग्रेस समिति के अध्यक्ष के० वी० थंगका बालु और अन्य पार्टी नेताओं ने पुष्पांजलि अर्पित की।

 पंजाब में इस बार  गेहूं के उत्पादन और खरीद के पिछले सभी रिकार्ड टूट रहे हैं। इतना ही नहीं इस वर्ष प्रति हेक्टेयर गेहूं की उत्पादकता में भी आठ प्रतिशत की बढ़ोतरी हुई है। राज्य में  कुल १६३ लाख ३४ हजार मीट्रिक टन गेहूं का  उत्पादन हुआ है । हमाारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि अब तक १०९ लाख १९ हजार मीट्रिक टन गेहूं की खरीद की जा चुकी है।

कृषि विशेषज्ञों का कहना हैं कि लम्बे समय तक चलें ठंठे मैासम  के दौरान गेहूं के फसल को पकने के लिए पूरा समय मिला। समय क स्थानिय लोगों को बढ़िया बीज और टीएबी उर्वरक  मिलने से भी सहायता मिली । केन्द्रीय पूल के लिए भेजी गई गेहूु अधिकतर स्थानों पर खुले मे ंही पड़ी हुई हैं। ंखरीदने वाली एजेंसियों का कहना हैं कि अब अनाज पंजाब में दूसरे ऐसे राज्यों में पहुचाने की जरूरत है जहां पर  गेहूं की अधिक आवश्यकता है आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए चंडीगढ से  रंधावा

 उत्तर भारत के कई हिस्सों में तेज+ आंधी और वर्षा के कारण तापमान में  गिरावट आयी है । मौसम विभाग के अनुसार पश्चिमोत्तर पाकिस्तान तथा उसके आसपास के इलाकों में पश्चिम विक्षोभ और पंजाब तथा उसके आसपास के क्षेत्रों में चक्रवात जैसी स्थिति होने के कारण मौसम  में यह परिवर्तन आया है। पंजाब और हरियाणा के कई हिस्सों में भी आज वर्षा होने की खबर है। चंडीगढ़ में आज तड़के भारी वर्षा हुई। अम्बाला, गुड़गांव, सोनीपत, पंचकूला और पानीपत में तेज+ वर्षा हुई।

 उत्तरप्रदेश के पूर्वी जिलों में आंधी और वर्षा से तापमान में गिरावट आई है। गोरखपुर में आज सुबह घने बादलों के कारण लगभग एक घंटे तक अंधेरा छाया रहा। राज्य के पूर्वी क्षेत्रों में अधिकतम तापमान सामान्य से तीन से सात डिग्री सेल्सियस नीचे रहा।

आजमगढ़ ,गोरखपुर और बस्ति मंडलों ंमें पिछलें २४ घंटो के दौरान हल्की से लेकर मध्यम वर्षा हुई हैं। गोरखपुर में दिन का तापमान ३१ दशमलव ८ डिग्री सेल्सियस रिकार्ड किया गया जो सामान्य से ७ डिग्री सेल्सियस नीचे है मौसम विभागं ने पूर्वी और मध्यम उत्तर प्रदेश में अगले दो दिन में धुल भरी आंधी आने और छिटपुट वर्षा होने की संभावना व्यक्त की  हैं। हालांकि बुन्देलखंण्ड क्षेत्रों में अभी भी गर्मी पड़ रही है।आकाशवाणी समाचार

 उत्तराखंड के कुछ हिस्सों में अचानक हुए मौसम परिवर्तन से जनजीवन प्रभावित हुआ है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि  खराब मौसम के कारण सड़क यातायात पर भी असर पड़ा है।     

पिछले २४ घंटो के दौरान तुफानी हवाओ के साथ वारिश और ओले गिरने से पिथैराबाढ,चंपावत ,उत्तर काशी के कुछ हिस्सों में  आम जन जीवन भी बेहाल हो गया हैं । इन  इ लाको में करीब दर्जन भर मकानो के क्षतिग्रस्त होन के साथ ही आम, लीची और विभिन्न फलों के बागों में विपरीत असर पड़ा है। मौसम की खराबी से विद्युत और संचार सेवा भी प्रभावित हुई हैं। उतर काशी के जिलाधिकारी नोटियाल के अनुसार हुए मॉरिशस में आंधी से कारण हुए हादसे में एक व्यक्ति की  मृत्यु हो गयी हैं। उन्होने ने आकाशवाणी को बताया कि मौसम सुबह नुक्सान का आकलन कराया जा रहा हैं। इस बीच बारिश से चार धाम यात्रा पर भी असर पड़ा हैं। उधर  गर्मी से परेशान राज्य के मैदानी इलाको में लोगों को मौसम से बदलाव से राहत मिली है। राघवेश पांडेय आकाशवाणी समाचार देहरादून

 बिहार की राजधानी पटना और राज्य के विभिन्न भागों में भी आज सुबह पश्चिमतोत्तर मानसून की आंधी और वर्षा से रेलगाड़ियों और अन्य वाहनों की आवाजाही ठप्प रही। आंधी के साथ साथ मूसलाधार वर्षा से शहर और अन्य भागों में व्यापारिक प्रतिष्ठानों को बंद करना पड़ा।

 उधर, ओडीशा के कुछ  भागों में अगले २४ घंटों के दौरान वर्षा और ७० किलोमीटर प्रतिघंटे की रफ्‌तार से आंधी आने की सम्भावना है। भुवनेश्वर मौसम कार्यालय ने मछुआरों और सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों के निकट रह रहे लोगों से समुद्र में न जाने की सलाह दी है।  इस बीच, पिछले बृहस्पतिवार को आई आंधी और वर्षा में मरने वालों की संख्या १३ हो गई है। इधर, राजधानी दिल्ली में आज तेज+ हवाओं और भारी वर्षा से पारा काफी नीचे आ  गया। दिल्ली में कल रात भी ज+बर्दस्त आंधी आई थी, जिससे कई पेड़ गिर गए। पिछले कुछ दिनों से चालीस डिग्री सैलसियस से अधिक तापमान के कारण गर्मी से झुलस रही दिल्ली में इस सप्ताहंत में मौसम सुहावना रहने की उम्मीद है।

 पाकिस्तान के उत्तर-पश्चिम इलाके में नैटो के एक तेल टैंकर पर किये गये बम हमले में कम से कम १६ लोग मारे गए हैं। यह टैंकर अफगानिस्तान जा रहा था। स्थानीय अधिकारी ने कहा है कि हादसा उस समय हुआ जब टैंकर से रिसते तेल को लेने के लिए लोग इकट्ठा हुए थे।

 सोमालिया के तीन लोगों ने, केस्ट नामक नाव के अपहरण में शामिल होने की बात अमरीका की संघीय अदालत में स्वीकार कर ली है। इस घटना में चार अमरीकी नागरिकों की मौत हो गई थी। इन समुद्री डाकुओं को मृत्युदंड की सजा दी गई थी, लेकिन उनकी यह सजा कम की जा सकती है और  उन्हें सोमालिया  वापस भेज दिया जा सकता है।

 अमरीका ने डोमिनिक स्ट्रॉस कान के स्थान पर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्राकोष के प्रमुख का  चयन  पारदर्शी   प्रक्रिया से करने का आह्‌वान किया है। स्ट्रॉस कान ने बलात्कार के मामले में अपनी गिरफ्तारी के बाद इस पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया था। वाशिंगटन में राजस्व मंत्री टिमोथी गीथनर में एक बयान में कहा है कि अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्राकोष के प्रमुख पद के उम्मीदवार में आवश्यक अनुभव और  नेतृत्व के गुण होने चाहिए इसके साथ ही उसे कोष के सदस्यों का समर्थन भी मिला हो।

      India's latest communication satellite GSAT-8 was successfully launched early this morning by Arianespace from Kourou in French Guiana. GSAT-8 was injected into space by European launcher Arianespace's Ariane 5 rocket which lifted-off at 2.08 am Indian Standard Time with Japan's ST-2 spacecraft as co-passenger.  Weighing 3,100 kg at lift-off, GSAT-8 is one of the heaviest and high-powered satellites built by the Bangalore-headquartered Indian Space Research Organisation. 

 

      The satellite will boost Direct to Home Services in the country.  The 24 Ku band transponders will augment the capacity in the INSAT system. The GAGAN payload provides the Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS), through which the accuracy of the positioning information obtained from the GPS Satellite is improved by a network of ground based receivers and made available to the users in Aviation sector in the country through the geo-stationary satellites.

 

     

An ISRO team, which witnessed the launch, expressed delight over the successful mission. ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan said, ISRO's Master Control Facility at Hassan near Bangalore has confirmed the reception of signals from GSAT-8 and taken charge of the command and control of GSAT-8 immediately after its injection into the geo-stationary transfer orbit. Mr. Radhakrishnan said the user community in India is looking forward for the operationalisation of the 24 high-power Ku band transponders into the Indian National Satellite system.

      The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today congratulated the Department of Space for the successful launch of communication satellite GSAT-8. Dr. Singh rang up Space Secretary K Radhakrishnan at the launch site and conveyed his greetings. ||<><><>||

 

       For the second day in a row, India conducted a successful ballistic flight test of indigenously developed Astra-Beyond-Visual-Range Air-to-Air Missile - from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha today.  Defence Research and Development Organisation sources said, the missile was test-fired around 1032 hrs and the trial was successful.  More from our correspondent.

      The successful flight test of Astra, the air-to-air Beyond-Visual-Range missile, today has added one more feather to India's missile programme. Astra is envisaged to intercept and destroy enemy aircraft at supersonic speeds in the head-on mode at a range of 80 km and in tail-chase mode at 20 km. Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) sources said Asta would undergo some rigorous and flawless test both from ground and fighter jets before the sophisticated anti-aircraft missile is integrated with fighter planes like Su-30 MKI, MIG-29 and light combat aircraft Tejas.           The Union Home Ministry has asked state governments and Investigating agencies to verify and inform it immediately, if any fugitives figuring in the most wanted list prepared by the ministry have been arrested. The advisory issued to the state governments and probe agencies follows the controversy involving the presence of two fugitives in India, whose names were included in the list of 50 most wanted men handed over to Pakistan.

      A senior Home ministry official said the advisory is one of few steps taken to ensure that names of fugitives arrested in India are deleted and the list of wanted persons is error free.

           Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been released on bail after he surrendered before a Dumka court in a case related to violation of model code of conduct during the 2009 assembly polls. Hemant Soren, son of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Shibu Soren, became one of the two deputy chief ministers in September last year when Bharatiya Janata Party's Arjun Munda formed a coalition government.

       West Bengal's new Finance Minster Amit Mitra was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata today after he complained of acute abdominal pain.       In Odisha, Maoists today blew up a railway track and set afire at least nine dumpers in tribal-dominated Sundargarh district on the first day of a two-day bandh call given by the red rebels. They triggered a land mine blast damaging a stretch of railway track at a place between Renjeda and Roxy railway station, about 90 km from the steel city of Rourkela. However, no one has been injured in the blast that took place in Rourkela-Kirbur railway section. No damage has also been caused to a goods train on the route as its vigilant driver stopped it after noticing the damaged track. Movement of goods trains carrying iron ore and other materials to Rourkela Steel Plant has been affected.

      In Jammu and Kashmir, in a major breakthrough, Police and Security Forces apprehended a terrorist of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) from the village Koat of Kishtwar district yesterday. The apprehended terrorist has been identified as Abdul Jabbar who along-with his other accomplices was responsible for the brutal killing of a villager Abdul Gani in Koat on 16 of this month. Since then a massive search operation of J&K Police and Army was underway in the area to track down these militants. According to official sources, acting on a specific information about the presence of LeT militants in Koat village ,the security forces cordoned off the area and during the search operation apprehended Abdul Jabbar.

      In Jammu and Kashmir, the 10th phase of Panchayat elections in eleven blocks of Jammu and Kashmir Divisions is going on smoothly amid tight security arrangements. AIR correspondent reports,  the polling began at 8 am and is progressing in six blocks of Jammu Division and five blocks of Kashmir division.

      By 12 noon about 48% polling was reported in eleven blocks of the State with Hajin block of Bandipora district recording 65% polling followed by Teetwal block in the frontier district of Kupwara where 63% electorate had exercised their franchise . In Jammu division, polling in all the five blocks was going on a brisk pace . Despite hot and humid weather in Jammu, long queues of people were seen right from the morning in Khour block of Jammu district outside the polling stations to cast their votes and by 12 noon 57% voters had cast their votes. In Assar and Thatri blocks of Doda district . 48 % polling had taken place in each block. The nation today paid homage to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 20th death anniversary. President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi were among the first to pay floral tribute to the late leader at 'Veer Bhumi', the memorial of Rajiv Gandhi.  Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra also paid floral tributes to their father who was assassinated on May 21, 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu during a poll campaign. Vice President Hamid Ansari, Home Minister P Chidambaram, & Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also paid homage to Gandhi. School children waving national flags were present at the memorial.

      May 21 is also observed as Anti-Terrorism Day with an objective to keep youth away from terror activities.

      Senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya has demanded the Andhra Pradesh  government to allocate  1000 crore rupees to the civil supplies department as market intervention fund to purchae paddy directly from farmers at the Minimum Support Price(MSP)  to save the farmers in distress. Talking to reporters in Vijaywada, he said the BJP had urged the centre to issue orders to Food Corporation of India(FCI) to purchase paddy from the farmers without any restrictions and accord permission  for the export of rice  to foreign countries.

      Punjab has broken all previous wheat production and procurement records.  Not only this but per hectare yield has also registered an eight per cent increase this year.  Total production of wheat has reached 163 lakh 34 thousand metric tonnes while earlier record was 159 lakh metric tonnes in 1999-2000.  Till now more than 109 lakh 19 thousand metric tonnes wheat has been procured in the market.  Our correspondent reports, procurement officials expect that 110 lakh metric tonnes of wheat will reach the market.

Moderate to heavy rain with heavy winds and hail storm has thrown life out of gear in Pithoragarh, Champawat, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts. As per reports more than a dozen houses were damaged and the horticulture crops in the fruit belt of the state also destroyed following the inclement weather. It also affected the power supply and communication services. According to district magistrate of Uttarkashi Hemlata Dhaundiyal one person was killed near Mori due to storm. .       In Uttar Pradesh, the turbulent weather has brought down temperature in eastern districts. In Gorakhpur there was darkness for about an hour this morning due to heavy clouds. Our correspondent reports that the day’s maximum temperature has gone 3 to 7 degrees Celsius below normal in eastern region. 

 Light to medium shower has occurred at few places in Azamgarh, Basti, and Gorakhpur divisions.       At least sixteen people have been killed in North-West Pakistan after a NATO oil tanker was set ablaze by a bomber.  It was carrying fuel to Afghanistan.  A local official said the casualties occurred when people gathered to collect oil, leaking from the tanker.

       A media report in Islamabad said, China  has asked Pakistan to mend its fences with all its neighbours, including India. Beijing expressed concern over terrorists still flourishing in centres on Pakistani soil. The News daily quoted diplomatic sources as saying, the Chinese leadership asked Islamabad to make efforts for the "removal of irritants with Washington and New Delhi.

      Three Somali men have pleaded guilty in US federal court to piracy for their role in a hijacking that ended in the deaths of four American sailors. They face life sentences, but could receive lighter terms and eventually be deported to Somalia. Two of them also pleaded guilty to hostage taking at the Virginia court. The men are among 15 who have been charged for their roles in the February hijacking of the Quest. The yacht's owners and two guests were shot dead.

      The US has called for an open process for selection of the IMF chief so as to find a quick replacement of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who resigned from the post after being arrested in New York on rape charges. कर्नाटक में भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने राज्यपाल द्वारा राज्य में राष्ट्रपति शासन लगाये जाने की सिफारिश और दो जून को विधानसभा का अधिवेशन बुलाये जाने के मंत्रिमंडल के फैसले को मंजूरी न दिये जाने के विरोध में कई स्थानों पर रैलियां कीं।
मुख्य मंत्री बी एस येदिुयुरप्पा ने राज्यपाल विरोधी रैली का नेतृत्व किया और आरोप लगाया कि विपक्ष राज्यपाल और केन्द्र पर उनकी सरकार को बर्खास्त करने का बेजा दबाव डाल रहा है। मुख्य मंत्री ने कहा कि भाजपा का राज्य में बहुमत है लेकिन फिर भी उसे सत्ता से हटाने के प्रयास जारी हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि ुख्यमंत्री ने जोरदार शब्दों में राज्यपाल को वापस बुलाने की मांग की।

राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग ने इस महीने की सात तारीख को ग्रेटर नोएडा में भट्टापारसौल में गोलीबारी की घटना की सी बी आई से तुरन्त जांच कराये जाने की मांग की है। आज नई दिल्ली में संवाद्दाताओं से बातचीत में आयोग की कार्यवाहक अध्यक्ष यासमीन अबरार ने आरोप लगाया कि उत्तरप्रदेश पुलिस ने दोनों गांवों में बलात्कार और हत्या जैसी गंभीर ज्यादतियां कीं है। आकाशवाणी से बातचीत में श्रीमती यासमीन अबरार ने कहा कि सी बी आई से निष्पक्ष जांच कराकर ही सच्चाई का पता चलेगा, क्योंकि राज्य पुलिस भी इसमें शामिल है। हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार श्रीमती अबरार ने कहा कि कई गांववासी अब भी लापता है और वहां मौजूद राख के ढेरों की जांच की जानी चाहिए, क्योंकि इस इलाके के लोगों का दावा है कि इस राख में मानव अस्थियां हैं।

राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग ने कहा है कि गांव की महिलाओं ने किसान आंदोलन के दौरान राज्य पुलिस द्वारा बलात्कार और दुव्यर्वहार के आरोप लगाये हैं। आयोग की कार्रकारी प्रमुख की अध्यक्षता में एक दल ने 12 तारीख को इन गांवों का दौरा किया था। आयोग की चैयरमैन यासमीन अबरार का कहना है महिलाओं के आरोपों को ध्यान में रखते हुए सीबीआई जांच होनी चाहिए। वही गवरमेंट, वही पुलिस और वही एड्रो सिटी। वहां के जो लोग हैं जो महिलायें हैं वो शिकायत मुझे वहीं की पुलिस की कर रही हैं। वहीं की सरकार की कर रही हैं और वहीं इंक्वायरी होगी तो उससे मैं सेटिसफाई नहीं हूं। फर्स्ट डे से इस बात को कह रही हूं जिस दिन मैंने वहां कदम रखा था और औरतों ने मुझे जलते हुए ढेर दिखाये थे, मुझे अपनी हालत दिखाई थी, घर की हालत दिखाई थी मैंने कहा था यहां के एविडेंस को डिस्ट्रोय नहीं किया जाये और यहां पर सीबीआई की जांच होनी चाहिए। राज्य की सत्तारूढ़ बहुजन समाज पार्टी ने इस पर तीखी प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त की है और कहा है कि आयोग कांग्रेस से सहयोगी संगठन के रूप में काम कर रहा है। पार्टी प्रवक्ता ने कहा है महिला आयोग द्वारा लगाये गये सभी आरोप बेबुनियाद हैं और गांव की महिलाओं के सम्मान के विरूद्ध हैं। कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी ने भी इन गांवों का दौरा करके पुलिस जाजती के आरोप लगाये हैं। प्रदेश सरकार इन सभी आरोपों से लगातार इंकार करती रही है। सुनील शुक्ल आकाशवाणी समाचार लखनऊ।

भारत का उन्नत संचार उपग्रह जी-सैट-8 आज फ्रैंच गयाना के कुरू प्रक्षेपण केन्द्र से सफलतापूर्वक अंतरिक्ष में छोड़ा गया। यूरोप की एरियान स्पेस एजेंसी के एरियान-5 रॉकेट से, भारतीय समय के अनुसार रात दो बज कर आठ मिनट पर छोड़ा गया। हमारे संवाददाता का कहना है कि 24 के.यू. बैंड ट्रांसपोंडरों से इनसैट प्रणाली की क्षमता में काफी बढ़ोतरी होगी।

देश में विकसित मिसाइल ÷अस्त्र' का आज ओड़ीशा में चांदीपुर के समन्वित परीक्षण स्थल से लगातार दूसरे दिन सफल परीक्षण किया गया। रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन के सूत्रों ने कहा कि सवेरे 10 बजकर 32 मिनट पर हवा से हवा में मार करने वाली इस मिसाइल का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया गया। यह मिसाइल ध्वनि से अधिक गति से दुश्मन के विमान को नष्ट कर सकती है। यह मिसाइल 15 किलोग्राम तक पारंपरिक हथियार ले जा सकती है।

केन्द्रीय गृहमंत्री पी. चिदंबरम ने सुरक्षाबलों से देश की सीमाओं पर चौकसी बढ़ाकर देश की संप्रभुत्ता की रक्षा करने को कहा है। आज नई दिल्ली में सीमा सुरक्षा बल के अलंकरण समारोह में उन्होंने छत्तीसगढ़ और ओड़िशा में नक्सल विरोधी अभियान में तैनात केन्द्रीय बलों से कहा कि उन्हें पुख्ता खुफिया जानकारी के आधार पर अपनी कार्रवाई करनी चाहिए, जिससे उन्हें कम से कम नुकसान पहुंचे।

उत्तरप्रदेश और बिहार में धूलभरी आंधी और भारी बारिश के कारण पचास लोगों की मौत हो गई है। उत्तरप्रदेश में कम से कम एक दर्जन जिलों में आई आंधी के कारण दुर्घटनाओं में कम से कम चालीस लोग मारे गए। इन जिलों में हल्की से भारी बारिश हुई।

तेज धूल भरी आंधी के कारण आज लगातार तीसरे तीन दुर्घटनाओं का सिलसिला जारी रहा है। इससे सामान्य जनजीवन बुरी तरह प्रभावित हुआ है। पेड़ों, टेलीफोन और बिजली के खम्भों के उखड़ने से बिजली आपूर्ति और संचार में बाधा आई है। आजमगढ़ में दो लोगों की मृत्यु हुई है जबकि अम्बेडकर नगर में पेड़ गिरने की घटना में 10 लोग घायल हुए हैं। सलमान हैदर आकाशवाणी समाचार गोरखपुर।
उधर, बिहार में आंधी-तूफान के साथ हुई भारी बारिश से छह जिलों में कम से कम दस लोग मारे गए हैं। पटना, बक्सर, बेगुसराय, खगड़िया और भागलपुर जिलों में तूफान के कारण बिजली के खंभे, मोबाइल टावर और अनेक पेड़ उखड़ गए हैं। भारी बारिश के कारण सड़क और रेल यातायात बुरी तरह प्रभावित हुआ। मौसम विभाग का कहना है कि बारिश और आंधी-तूफान कल भी जारी रह सकता है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि पटना में करीब एक घंटे तक अंधेरा छाया रहा।

In Karnataka, BJP organised rallies at several places in the state in protest against Governor recommending President's Rule and for not clearing Cabinet decision to hold Assembly session from the 2nd of June. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa led the anti-Governor rally and charged that the Opposition is exerting pressure on the Governor and the Centre, to topple his Government. He pointed out that BJP government enjoys absolute majority but still there are efforts to dislodge it. He emphasized that Governor should be recalled to save the Constitution. He also accused former Prime Minister Deve Gowda of acting against the interests of the state. In Mysore, BJP state President K S Eeshwarappa led the rally. AIR Correspondent reports that the BJP in Karnataka, has announced rallies in eleven districts of the state till the 25th of this month.

The political situation in Karnataka remains fluid with BJP rally against the Governor and Congress delegation meeting the Prime Minister today to urge him to impose President rule. During the rally the BJP leaders spit fire against the Opposition from Congress and JD(S). They did not spare the Governor and the Central Government. They blamed that attempt is being made to topple the three year old BJP Government in South India. Holding placards, Recall Governor and save Karnataka slogans by BJP workers ranted the air in the rally. The National Commission for Women, NCW has demanded an immediate CBI inquiry into the Bhatta Parsaul firing incident in Greater Noida on the 7th of this month. Addressing the media in New Delhi, the Acting Chairperson of NCW, Yasmin Abrar alleged that grave atrocities like rape and murders were committed in the two villages by the Uttar Pradesh police. Later speaking to AIR, Ms Yasmin Abrar said, only an impartial inquiry by the CBI will bring out the truth as the state police is party to the crime. A report from our Correspondent:

Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram has asked security forces to raise the vigil along the borders and to defend country's sovereignity and security. Mr Chidambaram said this while addressing the investiture ceremony of the Border Security Force, BSF, in New Delhi today. He also asked the Central force, which has deployed about ten battalions for anti- naxal operations in Chhattisgarh and Orissa, to undertake intelligence based operations with minimum collateral damage and supplement its work through a number of civic action programmes for the population in these areas. ||<><><>||

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will be expanding his government on Monday. Thirteen MLAs including nine members from the Congress party will be sworn in as Ministers. India's advanced communication satellite GSAT-8 was successfully launched today by Arianespace from Kourou in French Guiana.

GSAT-8 was injected into space by European launcher Arianespace's Ariane 5 rocket which lifted-off at 2.08 am Indian Standard Time with Japan's ST-2 spacecraft as co-passenger. Our correspondent adds that the 24 Ku band transponders will augment the capacity in the INSAT system.

Designed to work for more than 12 years, GSAT-8 is one of the heaviest and high-powered satellites built by the Indian Space Research Organisation. Its 24 transponders will augment Ku-band relay capabilities - primarily for direct-to-home TV broadcast services - with a coverage zone including the entire Indian subcontinent. GSAT-8 carried the two-channel GAGAN system for aircraft navigation assistance over Indian airspace and adjoining areas. The GAGAN payload provides the Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS), through which the accuracy of the positioning information obtained from the GPS Satellite is improved by a network of ground based receivers and made available to the users in Aviation sector in the country. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra also paid floral tributes to their father who was assassinated on May 21st, 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu during a poll campaign. This day is also observed as Anti-Terrorism Day with an objective to keep youth away from terror activities. Several functions including debates, seminars, and lectures on the dangers of terrorism and violence were organised in schools, colleges and Universities to mark the day.

Severe dust storm and rain claimed 50 lives in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. In Uttar Pradesh, at least 40 people have been killed in the accidents related to squall and dust storm that hit at least a dozen districts. Light to heavy rain has also lashed these districts. A report from our Gorakhpur correspondent.

"The high velocity dust storm continued for third consecutive day in the eastern district paralyzing normal live. Trees, electric and telephone poles were up rooted snapping the electricity and communication in these districts. Two people died in Azamgarh whereas more than ten people were injured in Ambedkar Nagar as a tree fell on them. The met office has predicted squall in most of the eastern and central districts during next 48 hours. Salman Haider/ AIR news/ Gorakhpur."

In Bihar, at least ten persons have been killed following thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain in six districts of the state. Electric polls, mobile towers and a number of trees were uprooted in Patna, Buxar, Begusarai, Khagaria and Bhagalpur districts. Road and rail traffic was badly affected due to heavy rain. Weathermen predict rain and thunder-storms are likely to continue till tomorrow.

Flight Lieutenant Nivedita Chaudhary today became the first woman from the Indian Air force to scale the world's highest peak Mount Everest. The 27-year-old navigator reached the summit at around 9 am after a gruelling four-hour climb along with her co-climber Corporal Raju Sindhu from Haryana.

A media report in Islamabad said, China has asked Pakistan to mend its fences with all its neighbours, including India. Beijing expressed concern over terrorists still flourishing in centres on Pakistani soil. The message from the Chinese leadership was conveyed during Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's visit to China that ended yesterday. The News daily quoted diplomatic sources as saying, the Chinese leadership asked Islamabad to make efforts for the "removal of irritants with Washington and New Delhi". The Chinese leadership expressed regret that terrorists were flourishing in various centres and Pakistan had yet to take an effective action to remove such centres. It added that this was an obvious reference to "madrasas".

In Afghanistan, at least three medical students were killed and more than 15 people injured today in a blast inside capital Kabul’s main military hospital. Defence Ministry spokesman Gen. Zaher Azimi said, the blast occurred inside a hospital tent where students practice surgery operations. He said, an investigation is on to determine who was behind the blast. The hospital which is located a few hundred metres from the US embassy and other diplomatic missions, serves as the country’s main hospital for treatment of wounded Afghan soldiers.

In Nepal, the three ruling parties of the coalition government have agreed to come up with a joint proposal on the peace process.. This was decided at a meeting between the leaders of UCPN -Maoist , CPN-UML, and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum . Prime Minister JhalaNath Khanal, Maoist Chairman Pushap Kamal Dahal-Prachanada and MJF Chairman Upendra Yadav reached an agreement in Kathmandu today.

A Syrian rights group today said 44 people were killed in yesterday's crackdown on anti-government protesters in the country. The National Organization for Human Rights said most of the deaths took place in the western province of Idlib and the central region of Homs, after Syrian security forces cracked down on demonstrators. Witnesses and activists had earlier reported that 30 people were killed in the pro-democracy protests. Yesterday, media quoted witnesses in several cities as saying security forces used live ammunition on demonstrators who took to the streets to rally against President Bashar al-Assad's government.

He further added that the Government and RBI are trying to achieve higher growth and acceptable level of inflation.
