पिछले दिनों पाकिस्तान की ओर से कुछ सकारात्मक संकेत मिले हैं। भारतीय हेलिकॉप्टर के छोडे जाने पर संयुक्त सचिव ने एक बयान जारी किया । यह हेलिकॉप्टर पाकिस्तानी क्षेत्र में चला गया था। पाकिस्तान मंत्रिमंडल द्वारा भारत को सैद्धांतिक रूप से सर्वाधिक वरीयता वाले देश का दर्जा दिया जाना भी इसी बात का संकेत है।प्रधानमंत्री बुधवार ९ नवम्बर को मालदीव जाएंगे। हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार सार्क शिखर सम्मेलन में सार्क देशों के बीच विभिन्न मुद्दों पर चर्चा होगी।

मंत्रिसमूह को सरकारी विभागों की वित्तीय और प्रबन्धकीय गड़बड़ियों से जुड़ी शुंगलू समिति की रिपोर्टों की भी पड़ताल करनी है। शुंगलू समिति की रिपोर्ट पिछले वर्ष तीन से चौदह अक्टूबर के बीच हुए राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के दौरान कई परियोजनाओं में अनियमितताओं से सम्बन्धित है।
समिति को ७ दिसंबर तक रिपोर्ट तैयार करने के लिए तीन महीने का समय दिया गया है। इससे पहले की समिति के खत्म होने और नई समिति के पुनर्गठन की वजह से समिति एक महीने तक काम नहीं कर सकी।
इस मौके पर संसदीय कार्य मंत्री पवन कुमार बंसल ने कहा कि सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के उद्यमों को भी कैट के दायरे में लाया जा सकता है।

भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद के उप महानिदेशक एस के दत्ता के अनुसार, आंध्र प्रदेश के राजमुंदरी स्थित केन्द्रीय तम्बाकू अनुसंधान संस्थान तम्बाकू की खेती करने वाले किसानों को आर्थिक प्रोत्साहन देने की योजना बना रहा है ताकि वे तम्बाकू की खेती छोडकर अन्य फसलों के उत्पादन में रूचि ले सकें। एक रिपोर्ट -

State Bank of India officers Union has deferred its two-day nation-wide strike, which was supposed to begin from Tuesday. The move follows a conciliatory meeting between the management of the bank and the union yesterday.

सरकार ने कहा है कि तमिलनाडु में कुडमकुलम परमाणु ऊर्जा संयंत्र पूरी तरह सुरक्षित है। प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में राज्यमंत्री वी नारायण सामी ने कहा है कि यह संयंत्र देश के सबसे सुरक्षित परमाणु संयंत्रों में से एक है। इसके बावजूद सरकार यह सुनिश्चित करेगी कि संयंत्र की सुरक्षा के लिये सभी संभव उपाय किये जायें क्योंकि वह आसपास के लोगों की सुरक्षा के प्रति चिंतित है।
जो भी परिस्थितियां हो कुडमकुलम परियोजना ऐसी जगह है जहां सुनामी की आशंका भी है। इस परमाणु ऊर्जा संयंत्र को ठंडा रखने के लिए सभी सुरक्षा उपाए किए गए हैं।

पाकिस्तान की विदेशमंत्री हिना रब्बानी खार ने कहा है कि उनका देश भारत को सर्वाधिक वरीयता वाले देश का दर्जा दिये जाने के मुद्दे से पीछे नहीं हटा है। उन्होंने कहा कि दोनों देशों के अधिकारी आपसी व्यापार सामान्य बनाने के तौर तरीकों का पता लगाएंगे। सुश्री खार ने कल लाहौर में संवाददाताओं से कहा कि मीडिया में ऐसा कहा जा रहा है कि पाकिस्तान ने भारत को सर्वाधिक वरीयता वाले देश दर्जा देने का फैसला करने के बाद पीछे हट गया। यह बिल्कुल गलत है। उन्होंने कहा कि मंत्रिमंडल ने बुधवार को एक बैठक में भारत के साथ व्यापार संबंध सामान्य बनाने के एक प्रस्ताव को सर्वसम्मति से मंजूरी दी थी सर्वाधिक वरीयता वाले देश का दर्जा भी इस प्रस्ताव का एक हिस्सा है।------------------
परमाणु र्स्जा संयंजों के सुरक्षित संचालन के बारे में विचार विमर्श के लिए अमरीका के परमाणु नियामक आयोग का एक दल भारत की यात्रा करेगा। नई दिल्ली में जारी एक बयान के अनुसार इस दल का नेतृत्व आयोग के अध्यक्ष ग्रेगरी बी जैको करेंगे। इस यात्रा का उद्देश्य परमाणु र्स्जा संयंत्रों के सुरक्षा मानकों के बारे में सूचना और अनुभव का आदान-प्रदान करना है। श्री जैको ने कहा कि अमरीका, भारत के साथ दीर्घकालिक संबंधों को जारी रखना और और उन्हें आगे बढ़ाना चाहता है।------------------
गुजरात में २००२ के नरोदा पाटिया दंगे मामले के गवाह नदीम अहमद की अहमदाबाद के जुहापुरा इलाके में कुछ अज्ञात लोगों ने छुरा घोपकर हत्या कर दी है। पुलिस का कहना है कि कल सुबह जब सैयद अपने घर से निकला तो उस पर नुकीले हथियार से कई बार हमला किया गया। छुरा घोपने वाला घटना स्थल से भाग निकला। पुलिस के अनुसार सैयद को वी एस अस्पताल ले जाया गया, जहां उसे अस्पताल में मृत घोषित कर दिया गया। सैयद, नरोदा पाटिया मामले का एक गवाह था।------------------
भारतीय स्टेट बैंक अधिकारी यूनियन ने आठ नवंबर से शुरू होने वाली दो दिन की राष्टैव्यापी हड़ताल स्थगित कर दी है। कल बैंक प्रबंधन के साथ सुलह बैठक के बाद हड़ताल स्थगित करने का फैसला किया गया।------------------
जम्मू-कश्मीर के डोडा जिले में एक सड़क दुर्घटना में तीस लोगों की मौत हुई है। दुर्घटना थथेरी के नजदीक बटोट किश्तवाड़ राष्टैीय राजमार्ग पर उस वक्त हुई जब एक मिनी बस सड़क से लुढ़ककर चिनाब नदी में जा गिरी।लापता यात्रियों की तलाश जारी है। बस में सवार ३२ यात्री पुलडोडा से थथेरी जा रहे थे। तेज गति से जा रही बस का चालक नियंत्रण खो बैठा और बस लुढ़ककर नदी में जा गिरी। अब तक केवल तीन लोगों के शव बरामद हुए हैं और जिला प्रशासन ने शवों को ढूंढने के लिए नौसेना की मदद मांगी है।

नाइजीरिया के पूर्वोनर में रात भर हुए बम विस्फोटों और गोलीबारी की घटनाओं में लगभग १५० लोग मारे गये हैं। कट्टरपंथी इस्लामी संगठन बोको हरम ने इन हमलों की जिम्मेदारी ली है। सरकारी अधिकारियों और राहत कर्मियों ने बताया कि गिरजाघरों, मस्जिदो और कुछ सार्वजनिक स्थानों समेत कई जगह पर हमले किए गए और हमलावरों और पुलिस के बीच जमकर झड़पे हुईं। लोगों का कहना है कि देर रात तक गोलीबारी होती रही। अनेक लोग डरकर शहर छोड़कर चले गए।राष्टैपति गुडलक जोनाथन ने इन हमलों की निन्दा करते हुए कहा है कि शांति और स्थिरता को नुकसान पहुंचाने वाले तत्वों को कटघरे में खड़ा करने की कोशिश की जा रही है।

इस्राइल ने उग्रवादियों के खिलाफ गाजा पट्टी में हवाई हमला किया है। ये उग्रवादी इस्राइल में रॉकेट फेंकने की तैयारी कर रहे थे। मेडिकल सूत्रों ने बताया कि दक्षिणी गाजा में खान यूनिस इलाके को निशाना बनाकर कल रात हुए हमले में इस्लामी जिहाद उग्रवादी गुट का एक सदस्य मारा गया और तीन अन्य घायल हो गये। इस्राइली सेना के प्रवक्ता ने पुष्टि की है कि फलस्तीनी उग्रवादियों पर एक विमान ने हमला किया। उग्रवादी गुट ने एक सप्ताह पहले इस्राइल पर करीब २० रॉकेट फेंके थे जिसमें एक इस्राइली नागरिक मारा गया था और अनेक अन्य घायल हो गये थे।------------------

जाने-माने गायक, संगीतकार और फिल्मकार भूपेन हजारिका का कल मुम्बई में देहान्त हो गया। वे ८६ वर्ष के थे। दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार से सम्मानित भूपेन हजारिका इलाज के लिए मुम्बई के कोकिलाबेन धीरूभाई अम्बानी अस्पताल में भर्ती थे। श्री हजारिका को भारत सरकार ने पद्म भूषण से सम्मानित किया था।राष्टैपति, उप राष्टैपति और प्रधानमंत्री ने भूपेन हजारिका के निधन पर शोक प्रकट किया है। असम सरकार ने असम रत्न डा० हजारिका के निधन पर गहरा शोक व्यक्त किया है। उनके सम्मान में राज्य सरकार ने आज से तीन दिन के राजकीय शोक की घोषणा की है और आठ तारीख को आधे दिन का अवकाश रखा जायेगा।

New Delhi expects Pakistan’s Judicial Commission to visit India soon to carry forward the process of bringing the conspirators of the 26/11 Mumbai Blasts to justice. Speaking to media persons on the Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit to the Maldives to participate in the 17th South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation, SAARC Summit, Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai said, Dr. Manmohan Singh, in principle, has agreed to hold bilateral meetings with all the members of SAARC including Pakistan. He said, there have been some positive indicators of forward movement from Islamabad.
I think the Joint Secretary has issued a statement on the release of the helicopter which strayed into their territory. The decision in principal by their cabinet on MFN, these are indications of forward movement.
He said, the Prime Minister is committed to building relations with Pakistan on a more stable and normal basis and the trade is one aspect on which India has been holding out a hand of cooperation to Pakistan. The Prime Minister will leave on the 9th of this month for the Maldives. Our correspondent reports that during the summit, a wide range of issues will be discussed.
Poverty alleviation, food security, environmental concerns and regional trade and commerce are some of the main issues which are likely to be discussed during the SAARC summit. Deliberations on South Asia Free Trade Agreement, SAFTA will also be held. As foreign secretary indicated during the briefing, measures to speed up trade among the SAARC countries, will also be discussed.
It is remarkable that SAFTA element has literally doubled since 2009 and in 2009 it doubled from two years earlier. So it is a fact that SAFTA process is growing faster than the rest of intra SAARC trade. As a result we expect that the measures which are being taken will certainly propel the overall intra SAARC trade to much faster level of development.

Pakstan's Foreign Minister, Hina Rabbani Khar says, her country has not backtracked on the issue of giving India Most Favoured Nation-status (MFN). Talking to reporters in Lahore yesterday, Ms Khar said, there is an impression in the media that Pakistan made a decision on MFN and then backtracked. She said this was totally wrong and emphasised that Pakistan is consistent in the matter. She said, officials of the two countries will work out the modalities for normalising bilateral trade relations.

In Nigeria, atleast a 150 people have been killed and several injured in a series of overnight shootings and bombings which ripped through north eastern part of the country. Radical Islamic Group Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Officials and rescue workers said that the group also attacked churches, mosques and some other public places with bombs even as they engaged the police in a prolonged battle. An initial report by the Red Cross had put the toll to 67 but rescue agency officials said they counted up to 150 bodies at a Mortuary and various places in the cities.

A team from the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission will visit India to discuss the safe operation of nuclear power plants. In a statement released in New Delhi, the US Embassy said that the team led by Chairman Gregory B Jaa-swo, will hold meetings with the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board. Ahead of the visit, Jaa-swo said that the US looks forward to the continuation and advancement of the long-term relationships with India in the area of nuclear safety. The five day visit will begin on 14th of this month in New Delhi.

Lok Sabha Speaker, Meira Kumar held a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Tehran , to boost bilateral ties in diverse fields. An official statement said in New Delhi that the two leaders held detailed talks and pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Greece's main opposition leader is to meet the president today as the country remains in political deadlock over its debt crisis. Antonis Samaras of the New Democracy party is refusing to take part in a government of national unity proposed by beleaguered Prime Minister George Papandreou. In Jammu and Kashmir, 30 persons were killed in a road accident in Doda district. Our correspondent reports that the accident occurred yesterday on the Batote Kishtwar National Highway when a minibus skidded off the road and plunged into Chinab river.
The accident occurred when a minibus reportedly with 32 passengers on its way from Pul Doda to Thathri rolled down into river chenab resulting into the death of 30 persons. Only two of the 32 occupants of the ill fated minibus were fortunate enough to survive. Dead bopdies of only three persons have been recovered so far and district administration has sought the help of naval unit for retrieving the dead bodies. The services of several divers were used to fishout the other occupants but due to strong current of water, the efforts failed to yield any positive results and rescue operation was called off in the evening. The witness of the 2002 Naroda Patiya riot case Nadim Ahmed Sayed was stabbed to death by some unknown persons in Juhapura area in Ahmedabad. The police said the incident took place yesterday when Sayed left his house in the morning. The assailant stabbed him with a sharp weapons several times and fled. According to police, Sayed was rushed to V. S. hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctor.

Chief Economic Adviser to the Ministry of Finance Kaushik Basu said the Reserve Bank followed conventional methods of raising interest rates to tame inflation which do not seem to have worked. Talking to reporters in Kolkata, Mr Basu said he expressed concern at the use of traditional methods by RBI for anti-inflationary monetary policy to contain prices. He said that the RBI followed the text-bookish way to announce monetary policy. Basu said raising interest rates to suck out liquidity from the system would have disastrous effect on the economy.

The RBI has reduced the duration of validity of cheques and drafts from six months to three months. In a notification, RBI has said that from 1st of April next year, customers will have to present the cheque and drafts for disbursement of cash within three months. In its release the RBI has said that it has been brought to its notice by the government that some persons were taking undue advantage of the six month validity of cheques, drafts, pay orders or banker's cheques by circulating them like cash for this period.

The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court in Mumbai yesterday granted bail to all 9 accused arrested in the Malegaon blasts case against a surety bond of 50, 000 rupees each. This follows the National Investigation Agency telling the court that it will not oppose the bail pleas of the nine accused arrested in the case. The serial blasts had occurred in Malegaon town in Maharashtra on September 08, 2006 killing 37 people.

Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari has said the basic drawback in today's education is that it has failed to take into account the special learning needs of students. वित्त मंत्रालय के मुख्य आर्थिक सलाहकार कौशिक बसु ने कहा है कि देश को भ्रष्टाचार के खिलाफ सतर्क रहते हुए लड़ना होगा क्योंकि किसी भी प्रकार के दोषारोपण से सरकार की निर्णय लेने की प्रक्रिया पर असर पड़ सकता है। श्री बसु ने पीटीआई को बताया कि सही निर्णय ले सकने वाले अच्छे लोगों के भीतर भी यह डर होता है कि उन पर दोषारोपण किया जायेगा और इसी कारण ऐसे लोग कोई ठोस निर्णय नहीं ले पाते हैं। मुख्य आर्थिक सलाहकार ने कहा कि भ्रष्टाचार पर नियंत्रण के लिए अर्थजगत और कानून के विशेषज्ञों की भी मदद लेनी होगी। श्री बसु ने कहा कि दृढ़ संकल्प रखना महत्वपूर्ण है, लेकिन यह स्वंय में पर्याप्त नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा कि ऐसे संकल्प से नुकसान ज्यादा होने की संभावना रहती है।-----
केन्द्र ने पिछले वर्ष के राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में अनियमितताओं की जांच कर रहे मंत्रिसमूह का कार्यकाल दो महीने बढ़ा दिया है। रक्षा मंत्री श्री ए० के० एंटनी इस समूह के अध्यक्ष हैं। सूत्रों के अनुसार, कार्यकाल बढ़ाने का फैसला मंत्रिसमूह की सिफारिशें प्राप्त होने के बाद लिया गया। मंत्रिसमूह ने दस्तावेजों की छानबीन, विभिन्न विभागों से प्राप्त टिप्पणियों की पुष्टि और भावी कार्ययोजना पर फैसला लेने के लिए और अधिक समय देने की मांग की थी।मंत्रिसमूह को सरकारी विभागों की वित्तीय और प्रबन्धकीय गड़बड़ियों से जुड़ी शुंगलू समिति की रिपोर्टों की भी पड़ताल करनी है। शुंगलू समिति की रिपोर्ट पिछले वर्ष तीन से चौदह अक्टूबर के बीच हुए राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के दौरान कई परियोजनाओं में अनियमितताओं से सम्बन्धित है।

लोकपाल विधेयक पर संसद की स्थायी समिति के अध्यक्ष अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी ने आज कहा कि समिति अपना काम जल्द निपटायेगी। उन्होंने समाचार एजेंसी पीटीआई से कहा कि समिति जिस गति और दिशा में काम कर रही है वह किसी अचरज से कम नहीं है।समिति को ७ दिसंबर तक रिपोर्ट तैयार करने के लिए तीन महीने का समय दिया गया है। इससे पहले की समिति के खत्म होने और नई समिति के पुनर्गठन की वजह से समिति एक महीने तक काम नहीं कर सकी।

सरकार केन्द्रीय प्रशासनिक ट्रायब्यूनल में दो पारी में काम कराने की योजना पर विचार कर रही है ताकि बड़ी संख्या में लंबित पड़े मुकदमों को निपटाया जा सके। नई दिल्ली में केन्द्रीय प्रशासनिक ट्रायब्यूनल के एक सम्मेलन को संबोधित करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में राज्यमंत्री वी नारायणसामी ने कहा कि कैट कर्मचारियों के मुकदमों को निपटाने में सराहनीय काम कर रहा है। ट्रिब्यूनल में कर्मचारियों के लिए अपनी बाते रखना पहले से कहीं ज्यादा आसान हो गया है। श्री नारायणसामी ने समयबद्ध तरीके से मामले पर जोर दिया है।इस मौके पर संसदीय कार्य मंत्री पवन कुमार बंसल ने कहा कि सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के उद्यमों को भी कैट के दायरे में लाया जा सकता है।
इस सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन सुप्रीम कोर्ट के न्यायाधीश दलवीर भंडारी ने किया।

राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग पीड़ित महिलाओं को जल्दी न्याय दिलाने और राज्यों के साथ बेहतर तालमेल के लिए टोल फ्री नम्बर जारी करने की योजना बना रहा है। आयोग की अध्यक्ष ममता शर्मा ने नई दिल्ली में बताया कि इस फोन नम्बर पर शिकायतें भी दर्ज कराई जा सकेंगी। उन्होंने कहा कि शिकायतकर्ता के लिए फोन पर सलाह और दिशा-निर्देश भी उपलब्ध होंगे। सुश्री ममता शर्मा ने कहा कि शिकायतों के ऑनलाइन पंजीकरण की सुविधा के कारण, पीड़ित महिलाओं को दिल्ली आने की जरूरत नहीं रह जाएगी। उन्होंने कहा कि टोल फ्री नम्बर जारी करने की योजना पर अमल के लिए आयोग महिला संगठनों के संपर्क में है।-----
केन्द्र सरकार का महत्वाकांक्षी ÷शिक्षा का अधिकार अभियान' ११ नवंबर से प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह के संदेश के साथ शुरू होगा। संदेश में प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा है कि बच्चों तक वे सारी सुविधाएं पहुंचाई जाएंगी जिनसे उनके सपने साकार होने में मदद मिले। मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि यह संदेश देश के १३ लाख स्कूलों के छात्रों के सामने पढ़े जाएंगे ताकि उन्हें सफलता के लिए कठिन परिश्रम करने की प्रेरणा मिले। स्कूलों के प्रधानाध्यापकों को भेजा गया यह संदेश ११ नवंबर को स्कूलों में छात्रों के सामने इस दिन को राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा दिवस के रूप में भी मनाया जाएगा।-----
सरकार किसानों को तम्बाकू की बजाय अन्य फसलों की खेती करने के लिए प्रेरित करने की योजना बना रही है। इसका उद्देश्य अगले दस वर्षों में तम्बाकू की उपज वाले क्षेत्र को घटाकर आधे से भी कम करना है। यह योजना, तम्बाकू से होने वाले कैंसर से मुकाबले के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रयासों का हिस्सा है।भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद के उप महानिदेशक एस के दत्ता के अनुसार, आंध्र प्रदेश के राजमुंदरी स्थित केन्द्रीय तम्बाकू अनुसंधान संस्थान तम्बाकू की खेती करने वाले किसानों को आर्थिक प्रोत्साहन देने की योजना बना रहा है ताकि वे तम्बाकू की खेती छोडकर अन्य फसलों के उत्पादन में रूचि ले सकें। एक रिपोर्ट -

पंजाब के फाजि+ल्का जिले में आज सुबह एक बस दुर्घटना में सात यात्रियों की मौत हो गई और २५ घायल हुए हैं। मृतकों में चार महिलाएं भी हैं। पुलिस सूत्रों के अनुसार यह निजी बस गुजरात से आ रही थी और सभी मृतक भुज जिले के हैं। ये बस पंजाब के धार्मिक स्थलों की यात्रा पर थी। घायलों को फाजिल्का और आसपास के अस्पतालों में भर्ती कराया गया है।-----

जानेमाने गायक और दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार से सम्मानित डॉ. भूपेन हजारिका के पार्थिव शरीर को कल गुवाहाटी लाने के सभी प्रबंध कर लिए हैं। ८६ वर्षीय डॉ हजारिका का कल मुंबई के एक अस्पताल में निधन हो गया था। उनके पार्थिव शरीर को लाने का प्रबंध करने के लिए राज्य के संस्कृति मंत्री प्रणति फूकन और सचिव शांतनु ठाकुर आज मुंबई रवाना हो गए हैं। गुवाहाटी में एक अधिकारिक वक्तव्य के अनुसार डॉ० हजारिका का पार्थिव शरीर कल गुवाहाटी में उनके नजरपुर आवास पर रखा जाएगा। उनका पार्थिव शरीर दो दिन गुवाहाटी में जजेस फील्ड में रखा जाएगा ताकि लोग मंगलवार तक उनके अंतिम दर्शन कर सके। उनका अंतिम संस्कार मंगलवार को पूरे राजकीय सम्मान के साथ किया जाएगा। राज्य सरकार ने डॉ हजारिका को कैबिनेट मंत्री का दर्जा दिया था और उनके इलाज के सभी खर्च उठाने की घोषणा की थी।असम सरकार ने डॉ. हजारिका के सम्मान में आज से तीन दिन के शोक की घोषणा की है और मंगलवार को उनके सम्मान में आधे दिन का अवकाश घोषित किया है।

The government today said the Nuclear Power Plant at Koodankulam in Tamil Nadu is completely safe. Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, V Narayansami said the plant is one of the safest plants in the country. However he said, the government will ensure all possible safety measures to be followed as it is very concerned about the safety of people living around the plant. On the sideline of a function in New Delhi , Mr Narayansami said, the Prime Minister has already constituted a committee of experts which is going through all the safety aspects of the Nuclear Power Plant.

Former President APJ Abdul Kalam today visited the Koodankulam, Nuclear plant to examine the safety features installed in the nuclear power plant’s Russian reactors. India and the US have joined hands to crack down tax evaders and bring to book those who have stashed away black money in tax havens abroad. In a first of series of engagements between the two nations, a team of investigators drawn form investigation units in the Union Finance Ministry and the recently set up Income Tax's Directorate of Criminal Investigation(DCI) will visit Savannah, Georgia this month to chart out plans for effective co-operation in unearthing black money. Our correspondent quoting sources reports, the Indian team will meet officials at Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia, where officers will be involved in the Criminal Investigator Training Programme to be provided by special agents of the US' Internal Revenue Service. This will be followed by the DCI team's one-on-one with officials of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the International Law Enforcement Academies, ILEA and some other federal intelligence agencies for exchange of information and future co-operation. Exchange of information could lead to bringing to book Indians, who have stashed unaccounted money in tax havens abroad and made huge investments in the US and some European countries. They will also learn street survival tactics that will come in handy to hone skills of officers back home while developing airborne and marine units as part of DCI's efforts to tackle white-collar Mafia. The ILEAs are police academies under the US Department of State that have tie-ups with member countries.

Chief Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Finance Kaushik Basu has said, the nation has to fight corruption, but intelligently, as any witch-hunt could impact the genuine decision making process in the government. In an interview to PTI, he said, good people taking good decisions also begin to fear they will be the subject of finger-pointing and they then tend to defer taking the final decision. The Chief Economic Advisor said, in designing corruption control, there is a need for a lot of professional input from economics and law in the same way as for taking out an organ we need professional medical knowledge. The Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee going into the Lokpal Bill, Abhishek Manu Singhvi said today that it will complete its work soon. He told PTI that the speed and the direction of the committee are nothing short of a miracle. The committee has been given three months time till December seven to prepare its report. The committee, however, was not in operation for almost a month as the term of the earlier committee ended and reconstitution took time.

The Centre has extended by two months tenure of a Group of Ministers (GoM), headed by Defence Minister AK Antony, to examine the alleged irregularities in the conduct of last year's Commonwealth Games. According to the sources, the decision was taken after receiving recommendations from the GoM seeking more time to scrutinize documents, cross-check responses received from the different departments involved in alleged irregularities, and to decide the future course of action. The GoM was made to examine Shunglu Committee reports on the alleged financial and managerial lapses by different government departments in implementing several projects in the run up to the mega sporting event held in New Delhi between October 3 and 14 last year.

The National Commission for Women is planning to launch a 24/7 toll-free call centre soon in a bid to provide speedy justice to victims and bring better synergy with states. NCW Chairperson Mamta Sharma said in New Delhi, with this, all complaints can be registered online. She said, the complainants will also be given advice and guidance regarding their cases by the call centre executives, who will be employees of the NCW. Ms. Sharma said, with the online registration of their cases, the victims would not have to come all the way to Delhi. The idea is to provide speedy relief to the victims by assuring them justice in their respective states. She said, this is why the Commission is in touch with various women organisations to properly implement this plan.

In Tamil Nadu, five persons were charred to death and 27 injured after a private bus and a fuel-laden truck collided and went up in flames near Erode in the wee hours today. Police said, the Coimbatore-bound bus from Bangalore dashed against the truck carrying aviation fuel from behind at Chithode, about 15 km from Erode, resulting in an instantaneous fire which gutted both vehicles. Those killed including two women and a child, were charred to death on the spot. The injured, including two who are stated to be critical, have been rushed to various hospitals in nearby Bhavani, Erode and Coimbatore. The driver of the bus was among the deceased.

In Punjab, seven passengers of an ill-fated Gujarat based private bus died and 25 were injured when the vehicle fell into a dry drain in Fazilka district early this morning. The dead included four women, two men and a child. According to SSP, Fazilka, Rajinder Kumar, all the victims belonged to Bhuj and were on a visit to religious places of Punjab. Driver's drowsiness seems to be the reason behind the accident. The injured have been referred to various hospitals in and around Fazilka.

The body of legendary singer and composer Dr Bhupen Hazarika will be flown to Guwahati tomorrow morning. Assam Sports and Culture Minister Pranati Phukan, who arrived in Mumbai today, will be accompanying Dr Hazarika's family members to Guwahati where Dr Hazarika's last rites would be performed. Dr Hazarika's body is presently kept in Mumbai's Kokilaben hospital where he died yesterday due to multiple organ failure. Hospital's spokesman Jayanto Saha told AIR that Dr Hazarika's body will be kept for public viewing for an hour this evening when his fans, colleagues from the film fraternity and other close associates in Mumbai can have a last glimpse of the multi talented stalwart and pay their last respect to him.
In Guwahati, his body will be kept at Judges Field to enable the people to pay their last respect to him till Tuesday morning. The cremation will take place on the same day with full State Honour. The Assam Government has declared a three-day state mourning from today and a half day holiday on Tuesday as a mark of respect to Dr. Hazarika.

India is working on a scheme to motivate farmers to shift from tobacco crop to some other produce in a bid to reduce its plantation area by more than half in the next one decade as a part of international commitment to fight cancer due to tobacco. According to Deputy Director General of ICAR, SK Dutta, Central Tobacco Research Institute, Rajamundry, in Andhra Pradesh is working on a scheme to provide some sort of financial incentive to farmers to motivate majority of them to shift to cultivation of some other crops than tobacco. He said, India aims to bring down acreage under tobacco to 2 lakh hectares by 2020 from over 4.50 lakh hectares presently.

United Nations Environment Protection Agency (UNEP) has said that environmental degradation due to war and conflict could undermine local and international security by increasing grievances within and between societies. On the occasion of the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict today the UNEP has said that deteriorating environment can depress economic activity and diminish the authority of the state in the eyes of its citizens. UNEP’s message is more relevant for Afghanistan which is passing through conflict for more than three decades. United Nation’s Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has urged the countries of the world to recognize the long-term consequences of environmental degradation - both in peace and times of war. पूर्व राष्ट्रपति ए पी जे अब्दुल कलाम ने कहा कि वे कुडमकुलम परमाणु ऊर्जा संयंत्र में सुरक्षा के सभी उपायों से पूरी तरह संतुष्ट हैं। आज इस संयंत्र का जायजा लेने के बाद संवादाताओं से बातचीत में उन्होंने कहा कि इसके आसपास के लोगों को इससे किसी प्रकार का खतरा नहीं है।सभी कोण से चाहे संयंत्र के भीतर काम कर रहे लोग हो या बाहर ये रेडिएशन रहित परमाणु संयंत्र है।
परमाणु ऊर्जा समर्थक डॉक्टर कलाम ने कहा कि उन्होंने संयंत्र स्थल का यह दौरा केवल एक वैज्ञानिक और प्रोद्योगिकविद्व होने के नाते किया है।
डॉक्टर कलाम ने बताया कि उन्होंने संयंत्र की सुरक्ष व्यवस्था के बारे में वैज्ञानिकों से बातचीत के लिये यहां का दौरा किया। उन्होंने बताया कि वे लोगों को इसकी सुरक्षा के बारे में बतायेंगे।
सरकार ने कहा है कि तमिलनाडु में कुडमकुलम परमाणु ऊर्जा संयंत्र पूरी तरह सुरक्षित है। प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में राज्यमंत्री वी नारायण सामी ने कहा है कि यह संयंत्र देश के सबसे सुरक्षित परमाणु संयंत्रों में से एक है। इसके बावजूद सरकार यह सुनिश्चित करेगी कि संयंत्र की सुरक्षा के लिये सभी संभव उपाय किये जायें क्योंकि वह आसपास के लोगों की सुरक्षा के प्रति चिंतित है।
जो भी परिस्थितियां हो कुडमकुलम परियोजना ऐसी जगह है जहां सुनामी की आशंका भी है। इस परमाणु ऊर्जा संयंत्र को ठंडा रखने के लिए सभी सुरक्षा उपाए किए गए हैं।
श्री नारायण सामी ने आज नई दिल्ली में एक समारोह से अलग संवाददाताओं को बताया कि संयंत्र की सुरक्षा के सभी पहलुओं की पड़ताल के लिए प्रधानमंत्री, विशेषज्ञों की एक समिति गठित कर चुके हैं।

केन्द्र सरकार ने राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र के तीन महत्वपूर्ण गलियारों में क्षेत्रीय त्वरित परिवहन प्रणाली के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दे दी है। ये गलियारें हैं - दिल्ली - गुड़गांव - अलवर, दिल्ली - सोनीपत - पानीपत और दिल्ली - गाजियाबाद - मेरठ। नई दिल्ली में जारी बयान में शहरी विकास मंत्री कमलनाथ ने कहा कि इससे इन शहरों और राजधानी क्षेत्र के बीच तेज रफ्तार का सम्पर्क कायम होगा और आर्थिक गतिविधियों को भी बल मिलेगा। इसके साथ ही इससे राष्ट्रीय राजधानी की बुनियादी सुविधाओं पर पड़ने वाला दबाव भी कम होगा।श्री कमलनाथ ने राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र नियोजन बोर्ड को इन परियोजनाओं के लिये धन जुटाने की व्यवस्था बनाने के निर्देश भी दिये।

सरकार, केन्द्रीय प्रशासनिक ट्रायब्यूनल-कैट में दो पारी में काम शुरू करने पर विचार कर रही है ताकि बड़ी संख्या में लंबित पड़े मुकदमों को जल्द निपटाया जा सके। प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में राज्यमंत्री वी नारायणसामी ने आज नई दिल्ली में कैट के सम्मेलन को संबोधित करते हुए जल्द न्याय देने पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि इसके लिए सरकार ने ट्रायब्यूनल में खाली पदों को भरने की देरी में समस्या से निपटने के वास्ते व्यवस्था की समीक्षा की है। श्री नारायण सामी ने बताया कि अगले वर्ष के लिए पदों को भरने की प्रक्रिया शुरू की जा चुकी है।इस मौके पर संसदीय कार्य मंत्री पवन कुमार बंसल ने कहा कि ट्रायब्यूनल बहुत ही प्रभावी वैकल्पिक न्याय व्यवस्था है।

उत्तरी नाइजीरिया में एक कट्टरपंथी इस्लामी सम्प्रदाय द्वारा थानों, गिरिजाघरों और मस्जिदों पर हुए बम हमलों में कम से कम १५० लोग मारे गए हैं। इस सम्प्रदाय ने अफ्रीका के सबसे घनी आबादी वाले इस देष में षरिया कानून लागू करने का अपना अभियान तेज कर दिया है। रेडक्रास के अनुसार षुक्रवार को उत्तर-पूर्वी नाइजीरिया के दमातूरू कस्बे में बम हमले और गोलीबारी में कम से कम ६३ लोग मारे गए, लेकिन बचाव एजेंसी के अधिकारियों का कहना है कि षवगृहों तथा विभिन्न स्थानों पर उन्होंने डेढ़ सौ षव गिने हैं।नाइजीरिया के राष्ट्रपति गुडलक जोनाथन ने हमलों की निंदा की है। नाइजीरिया की १५ करोड़ की आबादी में मुस्लिम और इसाईयों की बराबर-बराबर की संख्या है।
संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद ने इन हमलों की कड़ी निंदा की है और प्रभावित परिवारों के प्रति संवेदना व्यक्त की है।

थाईलैंड में आई बाढ़ में मरने वालों की संख्या पांच सौ के आंकड़े को पार कर गई है। पिछले कई दशकों में आई सबसे विनाशकारी बाढ़ का पानी राजधानी बैंकांक में भी प्रवेश कर गया है। कम से कम आधे शहर में बाढ़ का पानी भर गया है।पानी में पड़े मृत पशुओं, औद्योगिक कचरे और गंदगी के कारण महामारी फैलने का खतरा बढ़ गया है। शहर के कई इलाकों के हजारों निवासियों को सुरक्षित स्थानों पर चले जाने को कहा गया है।

श्रीलंका के राष्ट्रपति महिन्दा राजपक्षे अगले सप्ताह मालदीव में हो रहे दो दिवसीय दक्षिण एषियाई क्षेत्रीय सहयोग एसोसिएषन - सार्क के सत्रहवें षिखर सम्मेलन में भाग लेंगे। मीडिया से बातचीत में श्रीलंका के विदेष मंत्री जी. एल. पियरेस ने यह जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि इस षिखर सम्मेलन के अवसर पर राष्ट्रपति पक्षे भारत के प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह के साथ आपसी मुद्दों पर बैठक भी कर सकते हैं। षिखर सम्मेलन से पहले नौ नवम्बर को विदेष मंत्रियों की एक बैठक होगी। सार्क सदस्य देषों के सभी राष्ट्राध्यक्षों या षासनाध्यक्षों ने सम्मेलन में भाग लेने की पुष्टि कर दी है। इस षिखर सम्मेलन में ऑस्ट्रेलिया, जापान और चीन के उच्चस्तरीय प्रतिनिधि प्रेक्षक के रूप में भाग लेंगे। इस वर्ष के षिखर सम्मेलन का विषय बिल्डिंग ब्रिजिज+;ठनपसकपदह ठतपकहमेद्ध है और इसमें भौतिक रूप से सम्पर्क बढ़ाने के साथ-साथ राजनीतिक बातचीत पर भी जोर दिया जाएगा। सार्क के आठ सदस्यों में श्रीलंका, भारत, पाकिस्तान, मालदीव, भूटान, नेपाल, बंगलादेष और अफगानिस्तान षामिल हैं।

अफगानिस्तान के उत्तरी बग़लान प्रांत में आज एक मस्जिद के पास आत्मघाती बम हमले में एक पुलिसकर्मी सहित कम से कम सात लोग मारे और १७ अन्य घायल हो गए। अफगानिस्तान के गृह मंत्रालय के अनुसार इस हमले में दो आत्मघाती हमलावर शामिल थे। इनमें से एक ने मस्जिद के पास उस समय विस्फोट कर दिया जब लोग ईद उल अजहा की नमाज के बाद बाहर आ रहे थे। दूसरे आत्मघाती हमलावर को पुलिस ने विस्फोट करने से पहले ही गिरफ्तार कर लिया।--------
एक भारतीय जहाज के दक्षिणी ओमान के तट के पास डूबने से पांच भारतीय नाविक मारे गए हैं और ९ अन्य लापता हैं। एमएसवी षिवसागर एमएनवी-२१६९ कल ओमान के दक्षिणी धोफार क्षेत्र में डूब गया था। गल्फ न्यूज ने बताया है कि छह नाविकों को बचा लिया गया है और नौसेना के जहाजों ने बचाव अभियान षुरू कर दिए हैं, लेकिन नौ नाविक अभी भी लापता हैं।भारतीय नाविक गुजरात से दुबई गए थे और वहां से वे सलालाह जा रहे थे, तभी ये जहाज केइला तूफान में घिर गया। बचाये गए सभी नाविक गुजरात के हैं।

नेपाल में खराब मौसम के कारण बड़ी संख्या में पर्यटक लुखा और सोलूखुम्बू जिले के आसपास के इलाकों में फंसे हुए हैं। पिछले छह दिनों में खराब मौसम के कारण दो मुख्य हवाई अड्डों- लुखा और पापला के लिए उड़ानें रद्द कर दी गई हैं, जिसके कारण दो हजार से अधिक पर्यटक और पैदलयात्री इस इलाके में फंसे हुए हैं। हिमालयी बचाव संस्था के अध्यक्ष बिक्रम नेउपाने ने बताया है कि एक निजी एयरलाइन कम्पनी लुखा से करीब एक घंटे की पैदल दूरी पर सुर्खे और अन्य स्थानों से हेलिकाप्टर सेवाएं चला रही है। आज करीब तीन सौ पर्यटकों को राजधानी काठमांडू लाया गया।--------
दुबई और पश्चिम एशिया के कई भागों में ईद-उल-अज+हा आज मनाई जा रही है। लाखों लोगों ने मस्जि+दों मे नमाज+ के बाद कुर्बानी की रस्म अदा की। दुबई में विभिन्न मस्जि+दों के इमामों ने सहनशीलता, भाईचारा और शांति का संदेश दिया। संयुक्त अरब अमिरात के राष्ट्रपति शेख खलीफा बिन ज+ायेद-अल-नहयान ने मुख्य मस्जि+द में नमाज+ अदा की। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि ईद-उल-अज+हा की नमाज+ के साथ ही सउदी अरब में हज+ की मुख्य रस्में पूरी हो गई हैं।दुनियाभर से आए लाखों की तादाद में हजयात्री आज मीना में शैतान को पत्थरों से मारने की प्रतीतात्मक रस्म में शामिल हुए। हज यात्रा के अंतिम पंडाव में लोगों ने उन तीन खम्बों में जमारत पर पत्थर बसाए जिन्हें शैतान का प्रतीक माना जाता है। यह रस्म अगले दो दिनों तक जारी रहेगी। किसी भी अप्रिय घटना को टालने के लिए सउदी अधिकारियों ने लोगों को समूह बनाकर एक निश्चित समय में निश्चित जगह पर जाने के इंतजामात किये, साथ ही जमारत पर एक ओर पुल जोड़कर पुख्ता इंतजामात किये। भारतीय हज मिशन ने भी भारतीय यात्रियों की सहूलियत के लिए बहुउद्देशीय टीमें बनाकर इसको अंजाम दिया। सुरक्षा के कड़े इंतजामों के बीच आज रस्मों को निभाया गया।

Former President A P J Abdul Kalam today said he is fully satisfied with the safety measures incorporated in the mega Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project in Tamil Nadu. Speaking to reporters after inspecting the Indo-Russian joint venture at Koodankulam, Mr. Kalam said this reactor will be safe for all the people around the plant.
Both these things I am very satisfied with the both safty system unique system for Koodankulam Nuclear Power Centre. Reactor itself is a type of thickness that is put is so heavy so it will contain any radiation . From all aspects, the people who are inside working and the people who are outside working it will be radiation free nuclear -power plant.
In Delhi the government said the plant is completely safe. The Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, V. Narayanasamy said the plant is one of the safest in the country. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi, he said, all the features of the safety measure have been taken care of.
"Infact all the features of safety measures have been taken care of. We have got 4 layers of safety measures for the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project. The government has given in principle approval to the concept proposal of Regional Rapid Transit System in three important corridors in the Natioanl Capital Region, NCR. The corridors are Delhi-Gurgaon-Alwar, Delhi-Sonepat-Panipat and Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut. In a statement issued in New Delhi today Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath said, this will provide high speed connectivity between these cities of NCR. He said it will also provide these cities to capture the economic impulse.

The Centre has extended by two months the tenure of the Group of Ministers (GoM), headed by Defence Minister, A.K. Antony, to examine the alleged irregularities in the conduct of last year''s Commonwealth Games. According to sources, the decision was taken after receiving recommendations from the GoM seeking more time to scrutinise documents, cross-check responses received from the different departments involved in alleged irregularities, and to decide the future course of action. The GoM was made to examine Shunglu Committee reports on the alleged financial and managerial lapses by different government departments in implementing several projects in the run up to the mega sporting event held in New Delhi between October 3 and 14 last year.

India today said Pakistan is continuing to harbour terrorists on its soil and despite repeated requests it has taken no steps to dismantle the terror infrastructure there. Talking to reporters in Patna,Union Home Secretary R K Singh said, though Pakistan keeps saying that it does not encourage terrorists to operate from its soil, on the ground there has been no difference. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had recently said that there were reports of cross-border camps being reactivated and attempts being made to induct fresh batches of terrorists into the country.

Defending Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh on deregulation of the fuel price, Mr. Pawar said there is no point in blaming the Government for increase in the domestic prices of fuel as they are related to fluctuations in the international markets. At least 150 people were killed in northeast Nigeria after a radical Islamic sect bombed police stations, churches and mosques as it stepped up its campaign to impose Sharia law in Africa's most populous country. The Red Cross said, at least 63 people have been killed in bomb and gun attacks in the north-eastern Nigerian town of Damaturu on Friday. But rescue agency officials said they counted up to 150 bodies at a mortuary and various places. Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan condemned the deadly attacks. Nigeria has a population of 150 million shared equally among the Muslims and Christians. Christians are mostly found in the south while Muslims are predominant in the north. The UN Security Council has condemned in the strongest terms the attacks in Nigeria.

The periodic table, which so far had 109 officially named elements, added three more to its count on Friday, following their approval by the General Assembly of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics. The elements are called Darmstadtium, Roentgenium and Copernicium. All three of these elements were discovered by scientists in Germany. Known as super-heavy elements they are very large and can be made only in the lab. They're also quite unstable and quickly break down into other elements.

An Indian ship sank off the coast of southern Oman, drowning five Indian sailors and leaving nine others missing. The ship MSV Shiv Sagar MNV 2169 sank near the southern Dhofar region of Oman yesterday. The Gulf news reported, six sailors were rescued after the Omani coast guards and naval vessels launched a rescue operation but nine others are still missing. The rescued sailors were initially taken to the Sadah Hospital for treatment. The Indian sailors had travelled from Gujarat to Dubai and were headed towards Salalah when they were caught up in strong winds around the time tropical cyclone Keila passed through. All the rescued sailors were from Gujarat.

Huge crowd gathered today at Mumbai’s Kokilaben hospital to have a last glimpse of legendary singer Dr Bhupen Hazarika. The list of visitors also included Dr. Hazarika’s close associate from the film industry Gulzar along with Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar and actor Ila Arun among others. Meanwhile hospital spokesperson Jayanto Saha said that Dr Hazarika’s body will be flown to Guwahati tomorrow morning.

The final ritual of Haj pilgrimage, the stone throwing at the devil got underway at Jamarat in Mina today. Dressed in white robes,millions of faithfuls including Indians cast stones at the three pillars in Mina in a symbolic renunciation of the devil.The stoning ritual will continue over the next two days till Haj draws to a close. Indian Haj Mission has set up multipurpose teams to assist the Indian pilgrims. A team of doctors is taking care of their medical needs. The Mission is helping them so that they can perform the Haj rituals in safe and orderly manner. In Gujarat, the Bus Rapid Transport System in busy Ahmedabad roads is a big success story of modern day’s urban public transport. Indian Air Force search teams have found the remains of the pilot of the ill-fated MiG-29 fighter aircraft that crashed last month in Lahaul Valley in Himachal Pradesh. Our Shimla correspondent quoting Western Air Command spokesman Wing Commander S K Mehta reports, the remains of Squadron Leader Dharmendra Singh Tomar were found near Kherot village in the Chokhang hills at an altitude of 15,000 to 17,000 feet.
