पाकिस्तान ने कहा है कि वह दो पाकिस्तानी चौकियों पर हवाई हमलों में २८ सैनिकों के मारे जाने के बाद अमरीका और नेटो के साथ सभी राजनयिक, सैन्य और खुफिया सहयोग की समीक्षा करेगा। वह अमरीका से बलूचिस्तान में शम्सी हवाई ठिकाना १५ दिन के भीतर खाली करने को कह चुका है। समझा जाता है कि अमरीकी ड्रोन हमलो ंके लिए यह गुप्त हवाई ठिकाना था। पाकिस्तान ने नेटो के सीमा पार करने पर रोक लगा दी है। एक वरिष्ठ पाकिस्तानी अधिकारी का दावा है कि दो चौकियों को निशाना बनाया गया जबकि उस इलाके में उस समय कोई सैन्य गतिविधि नहीं हो रही थी और किसी भी तरह से हमले के लिए नहीं उकसाया गया था। लेकिन नेटो का कहना है कि विशेष सेना मिशन पर पाकिस्तान की तरफ से गोली-बारी की गई। नेटो ने हमले में मारे गए लोगों के प्रति संवेदना व्यक्त की है और घटना की जांच का भरोसा दिलाया है।
पूर्व राजनयिक पार्थसारथी का मानना है कि मौजूदा परिस्थितियों को देखते हुए अमरीका और पाकिस्तान के बीच संबंधों में और खटास आ सकती है।

असली बात यह है कि अमरीका ने स्पष्ट संदेश दे दिया है कि पाकिस्तान को कि अगर उनकी सेना पर या अफगान सेना पर अफगानिस्तान की धरती पर हमला हो पाकिस्तान की धरती से जब जवाबी कार्रवाई किया जाएगा और मेरी एक राय में संबंध और बिगड़ेगे क्योंकि अमरीकी कांग्रेस यानी अमरीकी संसद जो है वो तय करना चाहते हैं कि पाकिस्तान को कोई आर्थिक या सैन्य सहायता नहीं दी जाए, जब तक पाकिस्तान अपने समर्थक तालिबान को नहीं रोकता है। तनाव रहेगा संबंध बिगडेगे, लेकिन दोनों के बीच बातचीत की प्रक्रिया जारी रहेगी।
पाकिस्तान में मंत्रिमंडल की रक्षा समिति की प्रधानमंत्री यूसुफ रज+ा गिलानी की अध्यक्षता में कल शाम हुई आपात बैठक में नेटो के हवाई हमले के बारे में प्रतिक्रिया तय की गई। बैठक में सेनाध्यक्ष जनरल अशफाक परवेज+ कयानी समेत सेना के तीनों अंगों के प्रमुख शामिल हुए। उन्होंने बैठक से पहले राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली ज+रदारी और विदेशमंत्री हिना रब्बानी से मुलाकात की।

भारत ने पाकिस्तान को कड़ा संदेश देते हुए कहा है कि वह आतंकवाद पर रोक लगाए और २६ नवम्बर २००८ के मुंबई हमले के दोषियों और षडयंत्रकारियों के खिलाफ कानूनी कार्रवाई तेज करे। इन आंतकी हमलों की तीसरी बरसी पर विदेशमंत्री एस एम कृष्णा ने कहा कि भारत द्वारा दिए गए सबूत पर्याप्त हैं।

मेरा मानना है कि मंत्रालय ने जो सबूत दिए हैं, वे इस अमानवीय कार्रवाई के जिम्मेदार लोगों पर मुकदमा चलाने के लिए पर्याप्त हैं।
श्री कृष्णा ने कहा कि आतंकवाद के खिलाफ लड़ाई में किसी तरह का भेदभाव नहीं बरता जा सकता।

आतंकवाद की बुराई से व्यापक तौर पर निपटना होगा और किसी भी तरह के आतंकवाद को हर हाल में समाप्त करना होगा।
मुंबई आंतकी हमलों के सिलसिले में प्रमुख आरोपियों से पूछताछ के लिए पाकिस्तान के न्यायिक आयोग के भारत आने के बारे में पूछे जाने पर श्री कृष्णा ने कहा कि दोनों देश इसके तौर तरीके तय कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने आशा व्यक्त की कि अमरीका डेविड कोलमेन हेडली से आगे की पूछताछ में भारत के साथ सहयोग जारी रखेगा।

इस बीच कल एक पाकिस्तानी व्यवसायी को अमृतसर के राजासांसी हवाई अड्डे में जिंदा कारतूस लाने के आरोप में गिरतार किया गया। स्यालकोट निवासी शेख आरिफ मोहम्मद को दिल्ली के लिए एयर इंडिया के विमान पर चढ़ते समय गिरतार किया गया। पुलिस के अनुसार वह अपने सामान में प्वाइंट तीन दो बोर के कारतूस ले जा रहा था जिस का पता एक्सरे स्कैनिंग के दौरान चला।
आरिफ मोहम्मद वाघा सीमा के जरिए भारत में प्रगति मैदान में चल रहे व्यापार मेले में हिस्सा लेने आ रहा था।

केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो - सीबीआई ने आंध्र प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और तेलुगु देशम पार्टी अध्यक्ष चन्द्रबाबू नायडू और १२ अन्य के खिलाफ आय से अधिक संपत्ति रखने के आरोप में मामला दर्ज किया है। सीबीआई के संयुक्त निदेशक ने बताया कि आरोपियों को कल से नोटिस जारी किए जाएंगे और एफआईआर दर्ज कराने के तीन महीने के भीतर जांच पूरी कर ली जाएगी। सीबीआई ने पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री स्वर्गीय वाई एस राजशेखर रेड्डी की पत्नी वाई एस विजयलक्ष्मी की याचिका पर आंध्र प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय के आदेश का पालन करते हुए यह मामला दर्ज किया है।

चेन्नई में राजस्व खुफिया निदेशालय के अधिकारियों ने कुख्यात तस्कर मोहम्मद इब्राहिम को आज सुबह चेन्नई हवाई अड्डे से गिरतार किया है। ४४ वर्षीय इब्राहिम चेन्नई से मुम्बई जा रहा था। अधिकारियों का कहना है कि मुम्बई से उसकी पश्चिम एशियाई देशों में भाग निकलने की योजना थी। इब्राहिम की कई चीजों की तस्करी के सिलसिले में तलाश थी।

केंद्रीय उद्योग और वाणिज्य मंत्री आनंद शर्मा ने कहा है कि देश में मल्टी ब्रांड रिटेल में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश की अनुमति के केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल के फैसले से देश में रोजगार के एक करोड़ नए अवसर पैदा होंगे। उन्होंने कल चेन्नई में बताया कि यह नीति काफी विचार-विमर्श के बाद तैयार की गई है। इस बारे में सभी राज्यों और किसान संगठनों, उपभोक्ताओं तथा खुदरा व्यापारी संगठनों जैसे पक्षों के साथ सलाह-मशविरा किया जा चुका है।

वित्त मंत्री प्रणव मुखर्जी ने राजनेताओं से आग्रह किया है कि संसद की कार्यवाही के सुचारू संचालन के लिए राजनीति को इससे अलग रखा जाना चाहिए। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि संसद बाधा डालने के लिए नहीं है। मुम्बई में एक समारोह को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि ऐसी स्थिति पैदा करने से समस्याएं हल नहीं होंगी बल्कि जटिल बनेंगी । उन्होंने स्वीकार किया कि मंहगाई रुपए के मूल्य में गिरावट और अपेक्षा से कम वृद्धि दर जैसी समस्याओं से निपटने के लिए हमें मिलजुलकर प्रयास करने होंगे।
शीतकालीन सत्र के पहले सप्ताह में महंगाई काले धन, रिटेल क्षेत्र में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश और अलग तेलंगाना राज्य जैसे मुद्दों के कारण लोकसभा और राज्यसभा में कार्यवाही नहीं चल सकी है।

वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी आज एक दिन की यात्रा पर नेपाल जा रहे हैं। इस दौरान दोनों देशों के बीच दोहरा कराधान टालने का समझौता किया जाएगा। श्री मुखर्जी और नेपाल के वित्त मंत्री १९८७ में हुए पुराने समझौते के स्थान पर नया समझौता लाने के लिए हस्ताक्षर करेंगे। श्री प्रणब मुखर्जी नेपाल के राष्ट्रपति डॉक्टर राम बरन यादव, प्रधानमंत्री बाबू राम भट्टाराई और अन्य राजनेताओं से मुलाकात करेंगे। विदेश सचिव रंजन मथाई कल काठमांडू पहुंचे। वे इन बैठकों के दौरान वित्त मंत्री के साथ रहेंगे।

मिस्र में तहरीर चौक पर जमा प्रदर्शनकारियों ने आज चुनाव से एक दिन पहले एक और विशाल रैली का आह्‌वान किया है। प्रदर्शनकारी सैनिक शासन तुरंत समाप्त किए जाने और असैन्य अस्थाई सरकार स्थापित करने की मांग कर रहे हैं। प्रदर्शनकारियों और पुलिस के बीच हुई झड़पों में कल एक और आदमी की मौत हो गई जिससे हाल के प्रदर्शनों में मरने वालों की संख्या बढ़ कर ४२ हो गई है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि मिस्र में कल वोट डाले जाने हैं इसे देखते हुए घटनाक्रम पर नज+र रखी जा रही है।

सीरिया पर प्रतिबंध लगाने के अरब लीग के प्रस्ताव पर आज काहिरा में अरब लीग के विदेशमंत्री मतदान करेंगे। सीरिया पर प्रतिबंध लगाने की योजना तैयार करने के लिए लीग के वित्त मंत्रियों की कल बैठक हुई थी। मसौदा प्रस्ताव में सीरिया के सरकारी अधिकारियों की यात्रा पर प्रतिबंध, सीरिया के केंद्रीय बैंक के साथ वित्तीय कारोबार बंद करना और अरब देशों में सीरिया की संपत्ति ज+ब्त करना शामिल है।

यमन में राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए अगले वर्ष फरवरी महीने में चुनाव होगा। पहले यह चुनाव २०१३ में कराया जाना था।
समय से पहले चुनाव कराना राष्ट्रपति अली अब्दुल्लाह सालेह द्वारा हस्ताक्षर किये गए उस समझौते का हिस्सा है, जिसमें उन्होंने अपने खिलाफ़ मुक़दमा न चलाये जाने के बदले पद छोड़ दिया था।
इससे पहले, यमन में विपक्षी दल मोहम्मद बासिंदवा की अंतरिम सरकार में प्रधानमंत्री बनाने पर सहमत हो गए।
शुक्रवार को हज+ारों लोगों ने इस समझौते के विरोध में प्रदर्शन किए।

श्रीलंका के अधिकारियों ने बच्चों के अवैध व्यापार के सिलसिले में एक कैथोलिक नन को गिरतार किया है। यह नन एक बाल गृह की प्रमुख है।
खबर है कि इस नन के घर से सत्तर से अधिक गर्भवती महिलाएं और लड़कियां मिलीं। इनमें से कुछ की उम्र सोलह वर्ष से भी कम है।

भारतीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव में पहली बार सामाजिक दायित्व और समग्रता को समारोह का हिस्सा बनाया जा रहा है। इस दौरान मानसिक रूप से कमजोर व्यक्तियों का मुद्दा उठाया जाएगा।
संयुक्त राष्ट्र के अनुमान के अनुसार देश में मानसिक और शारीरिक रूप से अशक्त लोगों में से ४० प्रतिशत बौद्धिक रूप से कमज+ोर हैं।

Pakistan says it will review all diplomatic, military and intelligence co-operation with the United States and NATO following air strikes on two Pakistani check points killing 28 soldiers yesterday. It has already closed border crossings to NATO forces and asked the United States to vacate within 15 days the Shamsi airbase in Balochistan, which is believed to be a secret base for American drones. A senior Pakistani official claimed that two check points were targeted in an unprovoked attack and there was no militant activity in the area at the time. But NATO claimed that a special forces mission came under fire from inside Pakistan. NATO has offered condolences and promised a thorough investigation. The Pakistan government framed its response to the NATO air strike in an emergency meeting of the Defence Committee of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani last evening. The meeting was attended by the three Service Chiefs, including Army Chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. Gilani cut short a visit to Multan where he was to attend his son's marriage reception. He met President Asif Ali Zardari and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar before chairing the Cabinet Committee meeting. We spoke to Former Diplomat G. Parthasarthi on this issue:

"Pakistan's reaction to the recent American air attacks, on border posts located close to the durrand line on Pakistan Afghanistan border, has resulted in, atleast for the moment, supplies for American forces in Afghanistan through Pakistan being cut off. What is happening is that the United States is making it clear that if its forces come under attack from Pakistani territory, they will retaliate. This is a part of the tensions which have grown, ever since American attack on Abottabad, which resulted in the killing of Osama bin Ladin. The political relationship is also becoming bad. The American Congress is threatening to cut off assistance to Pakistan. So, we are going to see these ups and downs in the relations between Pakistan and America because Americans are now determined to respond if they find that their forces are attacked by Taliban operating from Pakistani territory."

India has sent a strong message to Pakistan to check terrorism and called upon Islamabad to bring the perpetrators and conspirators of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks to speedy justice. On the the third anniversary of the Mumbai terror attack yesterday, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna made it clear that evidence provided by India is sufficient to prosecute those behind the inhuman act. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, he reminded Pakistan that the fight against terror cannot be selective.

A Pakistani businessman was arrested yesterday for allegedly carrying live cartridges at the Rajasansi Airport in Amritsar. Sheikh Arif Mohammed, a resident of Sialkot, was arrested while he was boarding Air India flight for Delhi. Police said he was carrying live pistol cartridges in his luggage which were detected during the X-Ray scanning. He had crossed over to India via the Wagha border to take part in the Trade Fair at Pragati Madan in New Delhi.

The CBI has registered a case against Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party President Chandrababau Naidu and 12 others for preliminary enquiry into the alleged disproportionate assets held by them. CBI Joint Director Lakshminarayana said notices would be issued from tomorrow onwards to the respondents and probe would be completed in three months after filing FIR. More from our correspondent:

"The Andhra Pradesh High Court in an interim order had directed the CBI, Enforcement Directorate and the Securities and Exchange Board of India on 14th of last month to probe into the alleged disproportionate assets and submit a report within three months in a sealed cover. The High Court responded on a petition filed by Y S Vijaya Lakshmi widow of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. The Enforcement Directorate has already serviced notices to Mr Naidu and 12 others including his wife and son and few of his close party men. The Supreme Court had also refused to stay the CBI probe into alleged disproportionate assets of Mr Naidu but granted him liberty to approach the State High Court for vacation of its orders. The Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee has appealed to political leaders to keep aside politics from major economic decisions and said Parliament is not meant for disruptions. Addressing a function in Mumbai, he said merely creating a situation where hard decisions cannot be taken will not help solve problems but will compound them. He admitted that there are problems of high inflation, rupee depreciation and less than expected growth and difficulties in maintaining fiscal deficit, but said these will have to be solved by ourselves. Proceedings in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha in the first week of the Winter session that began on Tuesday last were paralysed over a host of issues including price rise, black money, FDI in retail and separate Telangana issue.

The Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee is going to Kathmandu on a day long visit to Nepal today. India and Nepal are to sign the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement during his visit. Our correspondent reports that Pranab Mukherjee and and his Nepalese counterpart Basrsha Man Pun will sign the agreement which will replace the old agreement signed in 1987.

"Matters relating to strengthening of trade relations and expanding bilateral economic cooperation are to figure in the high level talks with the Nepal’s leadership. In order to boost investor confidence in Nepal and to attract more investment from India, during the recent visit of Nepal’s Prime Minister, the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Trade Agreement was signed. The Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement, which was also to be inked, had some technical problem, hence after rectifying the clauses the agreement is being signed today. The visit of the Finance Minister also comes at a time when the political parties are holding discussion on the length of the term of extension of the Constituent Assembly, which is ending on the 30th of this month. Chiefs of Indian private airlines met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh yesterday seeking his intervention to help the carriers ride over the deep financial crisis. There was no specific assurance from the Prime Minister at the hour-long meeting but he is understood to have said that the government will be ready to help the cash-strapped carriers address their legitimate grievances.

In Chennai, officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence arrested noted smuggler Mohammed Ibrahim at Chennai Airport this morning. The 44-year old Ibrahim was arrested when he had boarded the flight from Chennai to Mumbai. Officials said he planned to escape to Middle Eastern Countries from Mumbai. Ibrahim was wanted in several cases including smuggling of red sanders and rosewood.

Arab League's plan for sanctions against Syria will be put to vote by its foreign ministers in Cairo today. The League's Finance Ministers met in Cairo yesterday to prepare the plan for sanctions against Syria. The draft plan includes ban on travel of Syrian Government officials, ending financial dealings with Syrian Central bank and freezing Syrian assets in Arab countries. Damascus missed the deadline of Friday to allow the observers mission in Syria. Lebanon has said it will not join any move to impose sanctions against Syria while Iraq said it would not be possible to impose sanctions on the Assad regime.

In Egypt, the protesters laying seize to the Tahrir Square, have given a call for another mass rally today, on the eve of elections. They are demanding immediate end to military rule and setting up of a civilian transitional authority. One more person died in the clashes between the police and the protesters taking the death toll in recent violence to 42. Our West Asia correspondent reports that developments are being keenly monitored as Egypt goes to polls on Monday.

"A palpable tension prevails in Egypt as the nation prepares for the first round of parliamentary polls tomorrow. Amidst widespread protests, the military rulers have staggered the first round of voting for two days instead of one day, as scheduled earlier. People are wary of security concerns. The opinion regarding the timing of polls seems to be divided, especially the conduct of polls under the supervision of military regime. भारत ने पाकिस्तान से कहा है कि वह मुंबई के आतंकी हमलों के दोषियों और षडयंत्रकारियों के खिलाफ कानूनी कार्रवाई तेज करे। इन आतंकी हमलों की तीसरी वर्षगांठ के मौके पर नई दिल्ली में पत्रकारों से बातचीत करते हुए विदेश मंत्री एस.एम कृष्णा ने पाकिस्तान से फिर कहा है कि ऐसा संभव नहीं है कि आतंकवाद के खिलाफ लड़ाई में किसी तरह का भेदभाव नहीं बरता जा सकता।
आतंकवाद की बुराई से व्यापक तौर पर निपटना होगा और किसी भी तरह के आतंकवाद को हर हाल में समाप्त करना होगा।
श्री कृष्णा ने कहा कि आतंकवाद को सरकारी नीति का साधन बनाने की मौजूदा दौर में कोई गुंजाइश नहीं है और यह प्रवृत्ति आत्मघाती है।
मेरा मानना है कि मंत्रालय ने जो सबूत दिए हैं, वे इस अमानवीय कार्रवाई के जिम्मेदार लोगों पर मुकदमा चलाने के लिए पर्याप्त हैं।

उधर, मुंबई में २६ नवंबर २००८ को हुए आतंकवादी हमले के शहीदों को आज तीसरी बरसी पर भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की गई। इस हमले में सौ से अधिक लोग मारे गए तथा अनेक घायल हो गए। राज्य सरकार ने मृतकों की स्मृति में आज अनेक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए हैं। महाराष्ट्र के राज्यपाल के शंकरनारायणन और मुख्यमंत्री पृथ्वीराज चव्हाण, गृह मंत्री आर आर पाटिल,  तथा शीर्ष पुलिस अधिकारियों ने आज सवेरे पुलिस स्मारक पर पुष्पचक्र अर्पित किये।

तीन साल पहले आज ही के दिन पाकिस्तान से दस आतंकी मुंबई में आए और इस शहर के प्रमुख स्थानों में हमला कर दिया। मध्य रेलवे के हजारों यात्री आज छत्रपति शिवाजी पर दस मिनट रूके और उन यात्रियों को याद किया, जो यहां हुए हमलों में मारे गए। इसी प्रकार ताज होटल, थाइलैंड होटल, नरीमन हाऊस, कामा हॉस्पिटल जैसे अन्य जगहों पर भी श्रद्धांजलि कार्यक्रमो का आयोजन किया गया। मुंबई की गिरगांव चौपाटी जहां बहादुर पुलिस कर्मी तुकाराम पाकिस्तानी आतंकी अजमल आमिर कसाब  को जिंदा पकड़ने में कामयाब हुए। वहां भी श्रद्धांजलि कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। शहर के कॉलेज के छात्रों ने भी दिवंगत आत्माओं की याद में शांति और सद्भाव को बढ़ाने के लिए एक हजार एक पक्षियों को आकाश में उड़ाया। सुधाराम सुब्रहमणी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, मुंबई।

माओवादी नेता किशनजी की भतीजी ने आज सवेरे मेदिनीपुर मेडिकल कॉलेज अस्पताल के शवगृह में उनके शव की पहचान की। पुलिस ने बताया कि फोरेंसिक विशेषज्ञों की मौजूदगी में पोस्टमार्टम की तैयारियां चल रही हैं। किशनजी का शव कल झारग्राम पुलिस शवगृह  से कडी सुरक्षा व्यवस्था के बीच मेदिनीपुर लाया गया था। पुलिस के अनुसार किशनजी की भतीजी दीपा राव के साथ तेलुगु कवि और माओवादियों के समर्थक वारवरा राव भी कोलकाता से वहां गए हैं।
इस बीच, संयुक्त बल बुड़ीसोल जंगलों में तलाशी अभियान चला रहे हैं, जहां माओवादी नेता किशनजी बृहस्पतिवार को मारा गया था। उसके एक अन्य साथी सुचित्रा महतो और दो अन्य लोगों की तलाश जारी है।
पुलिस सूत्रों ने बताया कि समूचे जंगलमहल इलाके में सुरक्षा व्यवस्था कड़ी कर दी गई है, ताकि बंद के दौरान माओवादियों की ओर से होने वाली किसी भी वारदात को रोका जा सके।

न्यायपालिका को अपने निर्धारित क्षेत्र में काम करना चाहिए और संसद या सरकार के कार्य क्षेत्रों में हस्तक्षेप से बचना चाहिए। भारत के प्रधान न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति एच.एस. कापड़िया ने कानून दिवस पर नई दिल्ली में आयोजित समारोह में यह टिप्पणी की। उन्होंने कहा कि स्वतंत्र न्यायपालिका किसी भी विकासशील समाज की पहली जरूरत होती है। श्री कापड़िया ने कहा कि न्यायपालिका को देश के समग्र विकास के लिए अधिक रचनात्मक भूमिका निभानी चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि न्यायपालिका सही दृष्टि से की गई आलोचना के खिलाफ नहीं। उन्होंने जोर देकर कहा कि भारत की न्यायिक व्यवस्था में निष्ठा और श्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन सर्वाधिक महत्वपूर्ण है। न्यायमूर्ति कापड़िया ने कहा कि बकाया मामलों की गलत संख्या बताकर भ्रम फैलाया जा रहा है, जबकि असल में उच्चतम न्यायालय में केवल आठ हजार सात सौ दस मामले बकाया हैं।

भारत-चीन सीमा वार्ता के १५वें दौर की बातचीत की नयी तारीखें तय की जा रही हैं। पहले यह वार्ता सोमवार और मंगलवार को कराने का कार्यक्रम था। विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता विष्णु प्रकाश ने नई दिल्ली में बताया कि दोनों पक्ष जल्दी ही वार्ता शुरू होने का इंतजार कर रहे हैं और सुविधाजनक तारीखें तय करने के लिए एक-दूसरे के संपर्क में हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि बातचीत में चीन की ओर से विशेष प्रतिनिधि दाई बिंगुओ और भारत की ओर से राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार शिवशंकर मेनन हिस्सा लेंगे।

दोनों देशों के विशेष प्रतिनिधियों के बीच बातचीत का अहम्‌ मुद्दा होगा एक ऐसे समझौते का मसौदा तैयार करना, जो व्यावहारिक हो ताकि दशकों पुराना सीमा विवाद सुलझाया जा सके। सबसे कठिन होगा दूसरा चरण जिसमें ये तय किया जाएगा कि कौन से किसके अधिकार में होंगे और इन क्षेत्रों का आदान-प्रदान कैसे हो। पिछले १८ तारीख को इंडोनेशिया की राजधानी बाली में सम्पन्न पूर्व एशिया सम्मेलन के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री मानमोहन सिंह और चीन के प्रधानमंत्री वेन जेबाओ के बीच सीमा निर्धारण के मामले पर भी बातचीत हुई। विशेष प्रतिनिधियों के १४वीं दौरान की बातचीत पिछले नवंबर में बिजिंग में हुई थी। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए दिल्ली से मणिकांत ठाकुर।

देश की सबसे लंबी रेलगाड़ी विवेक एक्सप्रेस आज दोनों तरफ डिब्रूगढ़ और कन्याकुमारी से अपनी पहली व्यावसायिक यात्रा पर रवाना हुई। रेलगाड़ी का नाम स्वामी विवेकानंद के नाम पर रखा गया है।
उत्तर पूर्व सीमांत रेलवे के सूत्रों ने गुवाहाटी में बताया कि १९ डिब्बे वाली यह रेलगाड़ी प्रत्येक शनिवार को रात ११ बजकर ४५ मिनट पर डिब्रूगढ़ से रवाना होगी और बुधवार को सवेरे १० बजकर २५ मिनट पर कन्याकुमारी पहुंचेगी। कन्याकुमारी से यह गाड़ी प्रत्येक शनिवार दिन में दो बजे रवाना होगी और बुधवार तड़के तीन बजकर ३० मिनट पर डिब्रूगढ़ पहुंचेगी।

भारत की निजी एयरलाइन्स कंपनियों के प्रमुखों ने आर्थिक तंगी झेल रहे एयरलाइन्स उद्योग के लिए सरकारी सहायता का अनुरोध करने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह से भेंट की। एक घन्टे चली बैठक में भाग लेने वालों में जेट एयरवेज+ के अध्यक्ष नरेश गोयल, इन्डिगो के प्रमोटर राहुल भाटिया, स्पाईस जेट के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी नील मिल और गो एयर के मालिक जे वाड़िया शामिल थे।
भारतीय विमानन कंपनियों में कुछ विदेशी विमानन कंपनियों के निवेश की अनुमति के लिए विमानन नीति में बदलाव की मांग को देखते हुए यह बैठक हुई।
प्रधानमंत्री ने पहले कहा था कि सरकार प्राइवेट एयरलाइन्स की मदद के उपाय खोजे जाएंगे। डॉ ंिसंह ने कहा था कि निजी क्षेत्र की एयरलाइन्स कंपनियों को अपनी प्रबंधन कुशलता बढ़ानी चाहिए।

श्रीलंका के दक्षिणी  हिस्से में भारी वर्षा और तेज+ आंधी तूफान के कारण कम से कम १४ लोगों की मौत हो गई और तीस से अधिक मछुआरे लापता हैं। आपदा प्रबंधन केन्द्र के अधिकारियों ने  १४ लोगों के मरने की पुष्टि कर दी है। सबसे ज्यादा मौतें मतारा जिले में हुई हैं।  अधिकारियों ने बताया कि आंधी तूफान से पन्द्रह सौ घरों को नुकसान पहुंचा है। आपदा प्रबंधन केन्द्र ने कहा है कि नौ-सेना की मदद से लापता लोगों की तलाश जारी है। इस इलाके के सभी प्रमुख मार्ग जलमग्न हैं।

पाकिस्तानी अधिकारियों ने आरोप लगाया है कि नाटो हेलिकॉप्टरों ने पाकिस्तान की अफगान सीमा पर एक सैनिक चौकी पर फायरिंग करके २५ सैनिकों को मार डाला है। पाकिस्तान सेना के वक्तव्य के अनुसार यह अकारण हमला मोहमंद कबाइयली क्षेत्र में हुआ। बीबीसी की खबरों में कहा गया है कि जवाब में पाकिस्तान ने इस सीमा चौकी से अफगानिस्तान में नाटो सेनाओं के लिए  सप्लाई ले जाने पर रोक लगा दी है। नाटो ने कहा है कि सीमा के पास ऐसी किसी घटना की उन्हें जानकारी नहीं है और मामले की छानबीन की जा रही है।
कथित हमला अफगान सीमा से करीब डेढ़ मील दूर सेलाला चौकी पर हुआ।

विदेश सचिव रंजन मथाई नेपाल की दो दिन की यात्रा पर आज काठमाडू पहुंचेंगे। विदेश सचिव बनने के बाद  उनकी नेपाल की यह पहली यात्रा होगी। श्री मथाई वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी की कल की नेपाल यात्रा से एक दिन पहले वहां जा रहे हैं । श्री मुखर्जी की यात्रा के दौरान भारत और नेपाल दोहरे कराधान  से बचने की संधि पर हस्ताक्षर करेंगे।
इस संधि पर नेपाल के प्रधानमंत्री बाबूराम भट्टराई की नई दिल्ली यात्रा के दौरान हस्ताक्षर किए जाने थे। लेकिन तकनीकी कारणों से इसे टाल दिया गया था। हमारे काठमांडू संवाददाता ने बताया है कि पिछले सप्ताह नेपाली  मंत्रिमंडल ने समझौते के संशोधित रूप की पुष्टि की और अब इस पर कल हस्ताक्षर किए जाएंगे।

कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी ने उत्तरप्रदेश में उर्वरकों की किल्लत के लिए मायावती सरकार को जिम्मेदार ठहराया है। महाराजगंज में एक जनसभा में उन्होंने कहा कि केन्द्र ने राज्य को पर्याप्त मात्रा में उर्वरक उपलब्ध कराये लेकिन राज्य सरकार उसकी नेपाल में हो रही तस्करी को रोकने में नाकाम रही। श्री गांधी ने यह भी आरोप लगाया कि मायावती सरकार पर्याप्त बुनियादी सुविधाओं का विकास करने में विफल रही है।

देश की जनसंख्या को वर्ष २०४५ तक नियंत्रित करने के उद्देश्य से स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय विभिन्न योजनाएं लागू कर रहा है। मंत्रालय में संयुक्त सचिव धरित्री पांडा ने आकाशवाणी के साथ बातचीत में बताया कि जिन राज्यों में जनसंख्या वृद्धि की दर अधिक है, वहां लोगों में जागरूकता पैदा करने के लिए सौ करोड़ रूपए के साथ जनसंख्या स्थिरता कोष बनाया गया है। इस राशि पर मिलने वाले ब्याज से यह कार्यक्रम चलाए जा रहे हैं। श्रीमती पांडा ने कहा कि बिहार, उत्तर प्रदेश, मध्य प्रदेश, राजस्थान, झारखंड, छत्तीसगढ़ और ओड़िशा में संतुष्टि और प्रेरणा जैसी योजनाएं लागू की जा रही हैं। प्रेरणा के तहत गरीबी रेखा से नीचे के परिवारों की कम उम्र में शादी और शिशु जन्म की प्रवृति बदलने वालों को प्रोत्साहन दिया जाएगा।
प्रेरणा योजना के हम अनुसार महिला की शादी १९ वर्ष के बाद हुई और पहले बच्चे का जन्म कम से कम २ वर्ष के बाद ही हो तो उसमें हम बेटा होने पर १० हजार और बेटी होने पर १२ हजार दिए जाते हैं।
श्रीमती पांडा ने कहा कि लोगों को विभिन्न मुद्दों पर जानकारी और सलाह देने के लिए निशुल्क हेल्पलाइन भी स्थापित की गई है जिसका नम्बर १८००-११-६५५५ होगा।
ये निशुल्क है और देश के कई भी कोने से आप फोन कर सकते हैं और ये जो है वो गर्भ निरोध, गर्भावस्था, यौन स्वास्थ्य और बांझपन के लिए कुछ एडवाइस चाहिए, तो यहां पर डॉक्टर भी मौजूद होते हैं और काउंस्लिंग देते हैं, तो कोई भी अगर गोपनीय क्योशन है, तो यहां फोन करे और बेहिचक बात करें।

सिक्किम में १८ सितंबर के भूकंप से सबसे अधिक प्रभावित उत्तरी जिले के ज+ोंगू के दूर दराज गांव के लिए तीन हेलीपैड बनाने का प्रस्ताव है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि भूकंप से क्षतिग्रस्त बुनियादी ढांचे के पुनर्निर्माण के लिए वित्तीय सहायता के बारे में राज्य सरकार, इस महीने के अंत तक केन्द्र को व्यापक रिपोर्ट देगी।

भूकंप के दौरान चट्टाने खिसकने से सड़कों के बैठ जाने की वजह से उपरी जोंगू इलाके के नौ गांव सिक्किम के बाकी इलाकों से पूरी तरह कट गए थे। इलाके में कोई हेलीपैड भी नहीं था। ऐसे में हेलीकॉप्टरों को राहत सामग्री उपर से ही गिरानी पड़ी। सिक्किम में फिलहाल १३ हेलीपैड है फिर भी जोंगू में कोई हेलीपैड नहीं है। यह इलाका सिक्किम के मूल निवासी माने जाने वाले लिपचा लोगों को संरक्षित इलाका है, जहां बाहर के लोगों यहां तक कि सिक्किम के ही दूसरे हिस्सों में रहने वालों को ही बसने की इजाजत नहीं है। विनयराज तिवारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, गांगतोक।

असम सरकार ने राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य बीमा योजना  के तहत गरीबी  रेखा से नीचे रहने वाले परिवारों का पंजीकरण शुरू किया है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि आधिकारिक सूत्रों ने बताया कि इस योजना के अन्तर्गत चार लाख ९५ हजार बी पी एल परिवारों में से दो लाख परिवारों का अब तक पंजीकरण किया गया है।

असम के डिबू्रगढ़, जोरहाट, कामरूप, कोकराझार और लखीमपुर जिले के २७ निजी और २१ सार्वजनिक अस्पतालों में इस योजना का मुआवजा किया जा रहा है। इसके तहत प्रत्येक परिवार को एक स्मार्टकार्ड दिया जाता है और इससे एक परिवार के पांच लोगों को प्रतिबद्ध ३० हजार रूपये तक चिकित्सा सुविधा दिया जाता है। इस योजना के तहत बीपीएल परिवार अपने पसंद से सार्वजनिक और निजी अस्पतालों में से किसी एक अस्पताल में पर्याप्त स्वास्थ सुविधा पा सकते हैं। मानव प्रतीम शर्मा, आकाशवाणी समाचार, गुवाहाटी।

Government today launched a campaign to highlight the advantages of allowing Foreign Direct Investment, FDI, in multi-brand retail. Commerce and Industry Ministry has given a full page advertisement in all leading newspapers today, stating that FDI in multi-brand retail will help farmers, create more jobs and benefit consumers. The advertisement states that domestic retailers will benefit from sourcing their requirements from wholesale cash and carry store at a discount. The Ministry stated that contrary to the mistaken belief that it will result in unemployment, FDI in multi-brand retail will generate 10 million new jobs. It added that farmers will also benefit from the decision as they will receive better prices for their produce. The Ministry also stated that in countries where there is no cap on FDI, small retail stores have flourished. Our Correspondent reports that the Opposition and some allies of the government have opposed the Cabinet's decision to allow 51 percent FDI in multi brand retail and 100 per cent in single brand retail. Parliament was also disrupted on Friday over the issue. Meanwhile, the government maintained that all precautions have been taken to protect the interests of farmers and small retailers. Law Minister Salman Khurshid today said that the State governments are free to take a decision on the implementation of the policy in their respective States. He added that BJP should sort out the differences within its own party over the issue.

The deeply strained relationship between Pakistan and the United States appears to have taken yet another turn for the worse, in the aftermath of what Pakistan describes as an unprovoked pre-dawn attack on its forces by NATO aircraft across the Afghan border. At least 26 Pakistani military personnel, including two officers, were killed, and 14 others were wounded. Islamabad is strongly protesting the incident. Pakistan has blocked NATO's supply routes that pass through its territory to Afghanistan, following what officials here describe as an aerial attack on its soldiers in the early hours of Saturday morning local time. The Pakistani military says, NATO helicopters and fighter jets carried out unprovoked firing on two of its posts in the Mohmand tribal district bordering Afghanistan. A military statement calls for strong and urgent action against those responsible "for this aggression." Washington's Ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Islamabad to explain the incident. Munter says, Washington regrets the loss of life among any Pakistani servicemen, and promised to work closely with Pakistan to find out what happened.Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the attack, and convened an emergency meeting of senior leaders to discuss next steps. "Pakistan's reaction to the recent American air attacks, on border posts located close to the Durrand line on Pakistan Afghanistan border, has resulted in, at least for the moment, supplies for American forces in Afghanistan through Pakistan being cut off. What is happening is that the United States is making it clear that if its forces come under attack from Pakistani territory, they will retaliate. This is a part of the tensions which have grown, ever since American attack on Abottabad, which resulted in the killing of Osama bin Ladin. The political relationship is also becoming bad. The American Congress is threatening to cut off assistance to Pakistan. So, we are going to see these ups and downs in the relations between Pakistan and America."

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has reached Kathmandu on a day's visit to Nepal. Talking to media on his arrival at Tribhuvan International airport this morning, Mr. Mukherjee said that he is confident that the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement would help to strengthen bilateral ties between India and Nepal which are unique and unparalleled. He said, the Agreement is required to reflect the prevalent times. The Finance Minister is leading a six member delegation to Nepal. He would call on the President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai. He will hold talks with his Nepalese counterpart, Basrsha Man Pun and sign the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement, replacing the one signed in 1987.

The full Election Commission, EC will visit Lucknow this evening to review the election preparations in Uttar Pradesh which will go to polls next year. The Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners will meet representatives of recognised National and State level parties tomorrow during the review meetings. They will also have a meeting with senior officials of the state in this regard. According to sources, EC has declared 53 Assembly seats as expenditure sensitive in Uttar Pradesh. The EC has also asked all other States which will go to polls next year along with Uttar Pradesh, that there will be two assistant expenditure observers, two flying squads and more number of static surveillance teams and video surveillance teams. The other States are Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Himachal Pradesh in which Assembly elections will be held next year.

Our correspondent reports that the EC had recently disqualified UP MLA Umlesh Yadav for incorrect statement of election expenditure incurred on news items in two Hindi dailies. This was the first case of action by the EC to fight Paid News syndrome. The EC has also asked the Financial Intelligence Unit functioning under Finance Ministry, to go through its records for information about the assets and liabilities of candidates participating in the polls in these states including in UP.

In Kerala, an expert team of scientists from Centre for Earth Science Studies are undertaking an impact study on Mullapperiyar dam since a series of low intensity tremors felt in Idukki district yesterday. The impact on the 116 year old dam due to four tremors measuring 1.4 to 3.4 on Richter scale on Saturday will be analysed by the team. Meanwhile, a Ministerial level delegation including technical experts from Kerala, will be reaching Delhi tomorrow to seek Central assistance to sort out Mullapperiyar dam issue between Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Our Correspondent reports that since July this year Idukki district and adjoining places recorded about 23 tremors of varying intensities.

"Scientific and technical experts are of the view that frequent earth quakes have caused irreparable damage to Mullpperiyar dam built in 1895 using primitive technology. The Centre has already made it clear that all possible steps will be initiated to sort out the dam issue between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Experts say that the water level needs to be reduced to 120 feet from the present 136 feet to ensure safety of the dam. Construction of a new dam decommissioning the existing one is the main demand of Kerala. Situated in Kerala, Mullapperiyar dam is on a 999 year lease to Tamil Nadu. In Assam, National Rural Health Mission in collaboration with UNICEF, has taken initiative to identify district hospitals as Baby Friendly to promote exclusive breast-feeding. Official sources said that the step is likely to bring down Infant Mortality Rate, IMR, in the state. The state has recorded 61 IMR against a thousand live births as per 2009 Sample Registration Survey report. Pre-evolution process is on to select about 20 hospitals as Baby Friendly across the state. "The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative provides better health care facilities to decrease Infant Mortality Rate. It aims to increase the numbers of babies who are exclusively breast fed. A hospital needs to fulfill ten criterias to be recognized as baby friendly. Under the initiative, 20 district hospitals will be recognized to promote exclusive breast feeding to increase child survival rate."

The Regional Museum of Natural History situated in Mysore, has a special garden for visually impaired and deaf children. This garden managed by Union Environment Ministry has created a place for these special children to touch, feel and smell the plant species. The medicinal plants numbering around 40 and 10 other trees planted in the garden have display labels written in Braille for the blind. The blind can touch these plants, feel their texture and smell their aroma to identify the plants with the help of information provided in braille. Mr. Rajasundaram, the Scientist heading the museum informed AIR that the Institute of Speech and Hearing is developing an induction loop system in the museum to enable the deaf children to listen to the commentary. Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia bagged the first prize in the 21 kilometre long Delhi Half Marathon in the men's category today. Lucy Kabuu of Kenya emerged champion in the women's category. Lalita Babbar successfully defended her title and was the fastest woman among Indians.

Nearly thirty thousand, five hundred people participated in the event which is considered one of the most prestigious Half Marathon in the world. The most popular segment was the seven kilometre long Great Delhi Run in which more than twenty one thousand enthusiastic Delhites took part. In some more news:Protesters in Egypt opposed to military rule, have called for a big turnout at a rally today ahead of the country's election on Monday, the first polls since the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak earlier this year. They have called for massive protests in Cairo's Tahrir Square and across the country to demand an immediate end to military rule. They are also calling for the immediate trial of all those involved in killing demonstrators. Reports say that more than 40 people have died in the past week in clashes between protesters and the police. Our West Asia Correspondent has filed this report:-

झारखंड की एक विशेष अदालत ने पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री मधु कोड़ा के दो पूर्व सहयोगियों हरिनारायण राव और एनोस एक्का के खिलाफ आरोप तय कर दिए हैं। ये आरोप धन शोधन निवारण कानून के तहत लगाए गए हैं। दोनों पूर्व मंत्रियों पर आय के ज्ञात स्रोत से अधिक संपत्ति अर्जित करने और अवैध रूप से धन विदेश भेजने का आरोप लगाया गया है। यह पहला मामला है जब देश में इस कानून के तहत आरोप तय किए गए हैं। कोड़ा और उनके साथियों के खिलाफ अवैध निवेश के सिलसिले में आयकर विभाग केन्द्रीय जांच ब्यूरो और झारखंड का सतर्कता विभाग जांच कर  रहे हैं।

सरकार ने मल्टी ब्रांड रिटेल में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश की अनुमति देने के फायदों के बारे में बताने के लिए एक अभियान शुरू किया है। वाणिज्य और उद्योग मंत्रालय ने आज सभी प्रमुख समाचार पत्रों में विज्ञापन दिया है जिसमें बताया गया है कि मल्टी ब्रांड रिटेल में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश से किसानों और उपभोक्ताओं दोनों को लाभ होगा। विज्ञापन में कहा गया है कि मल्टी ब्रांड रिटेल में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश से रोजगार के एक करोड़ नए अवसर पैदा होंगे, इससे किसानों को अपनी उपज की अच्छी कीमत मिलेगी।

उत्तर प्रदेश में, लखनऊ में थैला बनाने वाले एक कारखाने में आग लगने से छह लोग जिंदा जल गये और तीन घायल हो गये। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि इस कारखाने में तड़के अचानक आग लग गई। बाद में यह कारखाने के चारो तरफ फैल गई और कारखाने के अहाते में सो रहे लोग आग की चपेट में आ गये। पुलिस ने बताया है कि उनमें से कुछ की दम घुटकर मौत हो गई। घायलों को बलरामपुर अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है।

नेटो प्रमुख अन्डर्स रसमसन ने अफगानिस्तान सीमा के समीप हवाई हमले में पाकिस्तानी सैनिकों के गैरइरादतन मारे जाने की घटना पर प्रधानमंत्री यूसुफ रज+ा गिलानी से खेद व्यक्त किया है। आज अपने एक बयान में श्री रसमसन ने कहा कि उन्होंने पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री को पत्र लिखकर यह स्पष्ट किया है कि अफगानी और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सैनिकों के मारे जाने की तरह पाकिस्तानी सैनिकों के मारे जाने का मामला भी गंभीर और निंदनीय है।
इस घटना पर पाकिस्तान में कड़ी प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त की थी और अमरीका से कहा था कि इस तरह के अकारण हमलों से दोनों देशों के संबंध प्रभावित होंगे और उन्हें बनाए रखने के मामले में फिर से विचार करने पर मजबूर होना होगा। इसी घटना को लेकर पाकिस्तान ने अपने क्षेत्र से अफगानिस्तान में तैनात अंतरराष्ट्रीय सेना के लिए रसद आपूर्ति रोक दी है।

राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटिल ने कहा है कि युवक देश के भविष्य हैं। आज राष्ट्रपति भवन में कुपवाड़ा, श्रीनगर और दिल्ली के स्कूली बच्चों की शांति क्रिकेट प्रतियोगिता के समापन के बाद बातचीत में उन्होंने यह विचार व्यक्त किये। यह बच्चे दो दिनों से इस प्रतियोगिता में भाग ले रहे थे। सरकारी विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि राष्ट्रपति ने इन बच्चों से राष्ट्रपति भवन में मुलाकात की और कहा कि उन्हें इस बात की बहुत खुशी है कि इन बच्चों ने खेल प्रतियोगिताओं में भाग लिया जो युवाओं के लिए बहुत अच्छा मंच है। प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन गील्ड फोर सर्विस ने किया था। गील्ड जम्मू-कश्मीर में भी इसी तरह की प्रतियोगिताएं आयोजित कर चुका है। राष्ट्रपति ने इसके लिए गील्ड फोर सर्विस की भी प्रशंसा की।

दिल्ली के प्रगति मैदान में चौदह दिन से चल रहे भारत अंतराष्ट्रीय व्यापार मेले का आज समापन हो गया। समापन समारोह में दक्षिण अफ्रीका, केरल और चंड़ीगढ़ को अपने उत्पादों के अच्छे प्रदर्शन के लिये सर्वश्रेष्ठ पुरस्कार प्रदान किये गये। विदेशी स्टालो में दक्षिण अफ्रीका को स्वर्ण पदक दिया गया। मेले में पाकिस्तान, अफगानिस्तान, हांग कांग और थाइलैड सहित २६  देशों ने  हिस्सा लिया। राज्यों की श्रेणी में केरल को स्वर्ण पदक मिला और केन्द्रशासित प्रदेशों की श्रेणी में चंडीगढ़ विजेता रहा।

पाकिस्तान के हस्तशिल्प उत्पाद, अफगानिस्तान के आभूषण और चीन की पेन्टिंग से व्यापार मेले में आकषर्ण का केन्द्र रही। इसके अलावा इस बार विभिन्न रा ज्यों के मंडपों में खाने पीने के विविध और नई नई किस्मों का जायका भी दर्शकों को आजमाने को मिला। व्यापार मेले की सफलता और लोगों का मेले के प्रति रूझान इस बात से भी प्रकट हुआ कि प्रतिदिन करीब १ लाख लोग मेला देखने आए।

जाने-माने आस्ट्रेलियाई फिल्म निर्देशक फिलिप नॉयस ने कहा है कि गोवा में चल रहे भारतीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय फिल्म समारोह में दिखाई जा रही फिल्में और दर्शक उन जैसे फिल्मकारों के लिए वरदान है। उन्होंने क्लियर एंड प्रजेंट डैंजर, द बोन क्लेक्टर और साल्ट जैसी फिल्मों का निर्देशन किया है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि अपने  फिल्मी जीवन के बारे में बताते हुए श्री नायस ने कहा कि भारत में विदेशी फिल्मों की शूटिंग बढ़ी है।

इस प्रसिद्ध फिल्मनिर्माता ने बीते कुछ समय में भारतीय नौजवानों की ऑस्ट्रेलिया में हुई हत्याओं को दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण घटना बताते हुए अपने देशवासियों की ओर से माफी मांगी। इस दौरान मशहूर पेंटर स्वर्गीय मकबूल फिदा हुसैन द्वारा बनाई एक फिल्म थ्रू द आईज ऑफ ए पेंटर''े जो आज यहा समारोह में श्रद्धाजंलि श्रेणी में दिखाई जानी थी। एक धार्मिक संस्था के विरोध पर स्थगित कर दी गई। समारोह डायरेक्टर शंकर मोहन ने बताया कि इस फिल्म को दिखाने के लिए वो कानूनी राय ले रहे हैं।

जानेमाने सारंगी वादक और शास्त्रीय संगीत गायक उस्ताद सुलतान खान का आज तीसरे पहर मुंबई में देहांत हो गया। वे ७१ वर्ष के थे और पिछले दो महीनों से अस्वस्थ थे।
उस्ताद सुलतान खान हिंदुस्तानी शास्त्रीय संगीत के व्याख्याता थे जिन्हें  २०१० में पद्मभूषण पुरस्कार से भी नवाजा गया था।
वे दो बार संगीत नाटय अकादमी पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किये गये थे।

कम्युनिटी मेंबर्स उनके लिए जो रोजी रोटी जंगल में शिकार और लकड़ी काटकर गुजारा होता था। शिक्षा के प्रति उनकी भावना भी नहीं था, हम लोग करीबन २००२ में हमने बच्चों को एडोप्ट किया। मेरे बोलने में बेहद खुशी हो रहा है कि ये बच्चे करीबन ९ बच्चा मेट्रिकुलेशन तक पास कर चुका है।

A special anti-money laundering court in Jharkhand has framed charges against ex-chief minister Madhu Koda's   two former ministerial colleagues Hari Narayan Rai and Enos Ekka under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). They have been accused of money laundering and possessing assets disproportionate to known sources of income. This is the first case in which charges have been framed under PMLA in the country. The ED has accused the former ministers in Koda government-Ekka and Rai-of having laundered  13.88 crore rupees and  4.83 crore rupees respectively in the case. Koda, who was Jharkhand Chief Minister from September 2006 to August 2008, was arrested on November 30, 2009. He is lodged in the Birsa Munda jail in Ranchi. In its chargesheet filed in the court earlier this year, the Enforcement Directorate has accused Koda of amassing illegal wealth of over  1,340 crore rupees in connivance with four of his close associates. Koda and his associates are facing inquiries by various probe agencies like the Income Tax department, the CBI and the Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau regarding the alleged illegal investments.

The Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee has said India stands by the efforts of the Nepalese people and government to logically conclude the peace process and finalise the drafting of the constitution leading to a multi-party democracy. Addressing a press conference after signing of the Double Taxations Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) in Kathmandu today, Mr Mukherjee said India wants the peace process and drafting of the constitution to be finalized, so that the people of Nepal can have an effective multi-party democracy.

"We are confident that people of Nepal would be in a position through their representatives of the respective political parties to come to the logical end of the peace process and  drafting of the constitution."

The Finance minister said the revised DTAA allows effective exchange of information and  assistance in collection of taxes between tax authorities. He said that the present agreement, along with the Bilateral Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement signed during the Nepal Prime Minister’s visit to India , will help boost investment, trade and economic activities between the two countries.

In Uttar Pradesh at least six persons were burnt alive and three injured in a fire at a factory in Lucknow. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that the incident happened when a bag manufacturing factory in the city was suddenly engulfed in flames early in the morning. The deceased were sleeping in the factory premisis.

In Assam, three hardcore militants belonging to banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) today laid down arms at Army Brigade Headquarter in Tinsukia. The surrendered militants include- two self-styled corporals. They also deposited a large quantity of ammunition.

Government today launched a campaign to highlight the advantages of allowing Foreign Direct Investment, FDI, in multi-brand retail. Commerce and Industry Ministry has given a full page advertisement in all leading newspapers today, stating that FDI in multi-brand retail will help farmers, create more jobs and benefit consumers. Law Minister Salman Khurshid today said that the State governments are free to take a decision on the implementation of the policy in their respective States.

"There will be differences of the fine tuning and certainly on priorities. One thing is clear, this is a policy framework available to parties the Centre or parties at the state level."

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has said that FDI in retail sector would adversely effect small traders and farmers. Addressing a rally in Lucknow, she said that her government will not allow foreign malls in the state as it would force local traders to shut their shop. She accused the UPA government of step motherly treatment to the Uttar Pradesh government.

NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen today expressed his regret to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for what he termed tragic unintended killing of Pakistani soldiers in an air strike along its border with Afghanistan. In a statement, Mr Rasmussen said he has written to the Prime Minister of Pakistan to make it clear that the deaths of Pakistani personnel are as unacceptable and deplorable as the deaths of Afghan and international personnel. Pakistan has blocked NATO's supply routes that pass through its territory to Afghanistan after the incident. Washington's Ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Islamabad to explain the incident. Munter said, Washington regrets the loss of life among any Pakistani servicemen, and promised to work closely with Pakistan to find out what happened.

South Africa, Kerala and Chandigarh bagged the top prizes for the best display of indigenous products on the final day of the India International Trade Fair in New Delhi today. South Africa won the gold medal for best foreign stall  among 27 participating countries that included Pakistan, Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Thailand. Kerala won the gold medal in the states category, while Chandigarh emerged winner in the Union Territories category. Speaking at the awards ceremony Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar said that the fair was a huge success. Our correspondent reports that more than 6000 exhibitors from India and abroad participated in the 14 day long event.

"More than 6000 exhibitors from 27 countries participated in the 14 day long event. Traders did brisk business with hand made artefacts, jewellery and other decorative items attracting huge crowds.

Pakistani handicrafts, Chinese paintings and Afganistani jewellery were also widely appreciated.  This year visitors were spoilt for choices with food items from almost all parts of the country on offer. The success of the fair could be judged from the fact that  nearly a lakh visitors visited the fair everyday and authorities had to close entry in the afternoon itself on some days amidst huge rush. In a tragic incident at the 42^nd International Film Festival of India at Panaji in Goa, a Brazilian Filmmaker, Oscar Maron Filho died of heart attack after falling unconscious today during an Open Forum event. He was rushed to Hospital soon after but could not survive. Filho was at the IFFI with his documentary film ’Mario Filho: The Creator of Crowds’.

In Kerala, the water level of the Mullapperiyar dam in Idukki has further increased and reached the maximum permissible level of 136 feet. Four low intensity tremors, one of them measuring 3.2 on Richter scale yesterday have further raised safety concern of the 116 year old dam built with ancient technology. Meanwhile, a high level delegation including state water resources and revenue ministers will be reaching Delhi tomorrow to seek further central assistance.

A museum  for promoting and preserving the Kalka-Shimla Rail link will soon be set up in Switzerland. According to railway officials, several aspects of the Kalka-Shimla rail link including photographs and video recording of the running train through tunnels on the hilly track, will be exhibited at the museum.Kalka-Shimla Railway was inscribed as World Heritage Site in 2008 by the UNESCO.

In Lakshadweep, search operations for the six crew members of a mechanised sail vessel reported missing near Amini Island early this morning has not yielded any result so far.  Official sources in Amini said two vessels of the Coast Guard, a Dronier aircraft and another passenger cum cargo vessel Amin Divi have been pressed into the search operation, which is still continuing.
