पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली ज+रदारी के आज नई दिल्ली पहुंचने पर द्विपक्षीय मुद्दों पर चर्चा हो सकती है। दोपहर भोज से पहले श्री जरदारी प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह के साथ उनके सरकारी निवास पर आपसी हित के मुद्दों की समीक्षा करेंगे। इस दौरान दोनों पक्षों की ओर से कोई सहायक मौजूद नहीं होगा। इसके बाद वे विमान से अजमेर जाएंगे जहां सूफी संत ख्वाजा मोइनुद्दीन चिश्ती की दरगाह पर चादर चढ़ाएंगे। एक रिपोर्ट--ये श्री जरदारी की दूसरी अजमेर यात्रा है। इससे पहले वे २००६ में बेनर्जी भुट्टों के साथ ख्वाज+ा साहेब की दरगाह में जियारत के लिए आये थे। श्री जरदारी के साथ उनके पुत्र बिलावल भुट्टों जरदारी और पाकिस्तान का एक शिष्टमण्डल भी आ रहा है। उनकी यात्रा के मद्देनजर अजमेर में सुरक्षा के व्यापक प्रबंध किए गए हैं। श्री जरदारी आज दोपहर बाद एक विशेष विमान से जयपुर के स्वांगनेर हवाई अड्डे आयेंगे और फिर अजमेर पहुंचेगें। श्री जरदारी के स्वागत के लिए दरगाह में भी विशेष प्रबंध किए गए हैं। करीब ३५ मिनट दरगाह परिषर में रूकने के बाद श्री जरदारी आज ही जयपुर लौटेंगे। अनुराग पाजपेयी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, जयपुर।
राष्ट्रपति जरदारी की यात्रा के बारे में जानकारी देते हुए पाकिस्तान के विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता ने इस्लामाबाद में बताया कि श्री जरदारी, डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह के साथ मुलाकात के दौरान उन्हें इस वर्ष के आखिर तक पाकिस्तान आने का न्योता देंगे। राष्ट्रपति जरदारी के भारत दौरे को महत्वपूर्ण बताते हुए प्रवक्ता ने कहा हालांकि इसके लिए कोई एजेंडा नहीं है लेकिन दोनों नेता आपसी मुद्दों और क्षेत्रीय स्थिति पर चर्चा कर सकते हैं।
यू तो अधिकारियों का कहना है कि दोनों नेताओं के बीच सभी आपसी मुद्दों पर बातचीत होगी। लेकिन जब से अमरीका ने मुम्बई आतंकी हमलें के सूत्रधारक आतंकवादी हाफिस सईद को सजा दिलवाने के लिए सबूत पेश पर एक करोड़ डॉलर का इनाम रखा है। सभी की नज+रे इसी के नाम पर टिकी है। इस बात की भी संभावना है कि भारत पिछले महीने पाकिस्तान के न्यायिक आयोग के भारत दौरे के बावजूद पाकिस्तान द्वारा २६/११ के सुनवाई में ढिलाई बरतने के अलावा पाकिस्तान द्वारा दहशत गर्दों को पनाह देने के मामलें पर भी अपना विरोध जताये। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए दिल्ली से मणिकांत ठाकुर।

ओडिशा में सरकार और इटली के नागरिक के अपहरणकर्ताओं के मध्यस्थों के बीच गतिरोध कल समाप्त हो गया। राज्य के गृह सचिव यू एन बेहरा ने बताया कि कई दौर की चर्चा के बाद दोनों मध्यस्थों ने सूचित किया है कि माओवादी इटली के दूसरे नागरिक को सुरक्षित छोड़ देंगे। दोनों पक्षों ने संयुक्त बयान में कहा है कि राज्य सरकार अपहरणकर्ताओं की मांग के अनुसार छह कैदियों में से पांच को रिहा करने पर सहमत हो गई है।इस बीच, विधायक झिना हिकाका के अपहरणकर्ताओं ने सरकार से पहले के आठ कैदियों के अलावा पांच और को रिहा करने को कहा है। उन्होंने रिहा किए जाने के लिए पांच कैदियों के नाम भी भेजे हैं। माओवादियों के आंध्र-ओडिशा डिवीजन ने समयसीमा शनिवार से तीन दिन और बढ़ाकर मंगलवार कर दी है।----
जम्मू-कश्मीर के रजौरी जिले में सुरक्षाबलों ने कल आतंकवादियों के छिपने के एक ठिकाने का ध्वस्त कर दिया और वहां से भारी मात्रा में हथियार और गोली-बारूद बरामद किए। रक्षा प्रवक्ता ने जम्मू में बताया कि राष्ट्रीय राइफल्स और पुलिस के संयुक्त दस्ते ने रजौरी के कोटरंका क्षेत्र में आतंकवादियों के इस ठिकाने पर हमला बोला। प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि वहां एक प्राकृतिक गुफा के नीचे युद्ध सामग्री रखे जाने जैसा भंडार पाया गया।----

ईरान ने कल अपने यहां दौरे पर आए जापान के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री यूकिओ हातोयामा से कहा कि वह अपने विवादास्पद परमाणु कार्यक्रम को जारी रखेगा। उसने आशा व्यक्त की कि विश्व शक्तियों के साथ होने वाली उसकी आगामी बातचीत से विश्वास बहाली हो पाएगी। ईरान के विदेश मंत्री अली अकबर सालेही के हवाले से सरकारी मीडिया ने बताया है कि उन्होंने जापान के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री से कहा कि ईरान परमाणु ऊर्जा के शांतिपूर्ण इस्तेमाल के अपने अधिकार को हासिल करने की कोशिश जारी रखेगा। श्री सलेही ने आशा व्यक्त की कि विश्व की ६ शक्तियों के साथ हाने वाली आगामी बातचीत पश्चिमी देशों के लिए विश्वास बहाली की तरफ बढ़ने का एक अवसर होगा। ईरानी मीडिया ने श्री हातोयामा के हवाले से कहा कि उन्होंने अगले दौर की बातचीत को अहम बताया है और उम्मीद जताई है कि बातचीत के ज+रिए ईरान का परमाणु मुद्दा सुलझ जाएगा।----
चीन ने कल कहा कि वह कोरियाई प्रायद्वीप की ताजा घटनाओं से चिंतित है, जहां उसके नजदीकी सहयोगी उत्तर कोरिया ने अमरीका, जापान और दक्षिण कोरिया की कड़ी आपत्तियों के बाद भी उपग्रह प्रक्षेपित करने का निर्णय लिया है। चीन के विदेश मंत्री यांग जीएची ने निंगबो में कहा कि चीन, कोरिया प्रायद्वीप की हालिया घटनाओं से चिंतित है। उन्होंने निंगबो में कल जापान और दक्षिण कोरिया के विदेश मंत्रियों के साथ त्रिपक्षीय बैठक की। दक्षिण कोरिया और जापान ने उत्तर कोरिया के एक शक्तिशाली रॉकेट से उपग्रह प्रक्षेपित करने पर गंभीर आपत्तियां दर्ज की है। जापान ने उपग्रह प्रक्षेपित करने वाले रॉकेट के उसकी वायु सीमा में प्रवेश करते ही इस पर मिसाइल से हमला करने की तैयारी कर ली है।----
सीरिया में संघर्ष विराम के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद के १० अप्रैल की समय सीमा और विद्रोहियों के ठिकानों पर हमले तेज करने पर सीरिया को संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून की फटकार के बावजूद वहां हिंसा जारी है। विपक्षी सीरियन ऑबजर्वेट्री ऑफ ह्यूमन राइट्स ने ख़बर दी है कि कल देशभर में ५२ नागरिकों सहित ८० लोगों की मौत हुई। समाचार एजेंसी एएफपी की ख़बर के अनुसार कल सीरिया में लगभग १३० लोग मारे गए, जिनमें से ८६ असैनिक थे। इनमें से ज्यादातर की मौत हमा, होम्स, इदलिब और एलप्पो के साथ-साथ लतामना में गोलाबारी से हुई है।इस बीच, सरकारी समाचार एजेंसी सना ने ख़बर दी है कि दमिश्क और देश के अन्य भागों में सत्तारूढ़ बाथ पार्टी के समर्थन में रैलियों में हजारों लोगों ने हिस्सा लिया। एजेंसी का कहना है कि रैली में सीरिया के खिलाफ साजिश की निन्दा की गई।----

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari arrives in New Delhi today before flying to Ajmer to offer prayers at the Sufi shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. In a pre-lunch one-on-one discussion with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Zardari will review issues of mutual interest at the Prime Minister's official residence. No aides will be present from either side at the meeting. During his day-long trip to India, Zardari will be accompanied by his 23-year-old son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who took over the reigns of the Pakistan Peoples Party after the death of his mother Benazir Bhutto in 2007. Interior Minister Rahman Malik, the Foreign Secretary, senior officers of the Presidency and the media are also accompanying him. In a briefing on the visit, the Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman said in Islamabad that President Zardari will invite Dr. Singh to visit Pakistan by the end of this year. Describing Zardari's visit to India as important, the spokesman said, although there is no agenda, the two leaders are expected to discuss all bilateral issues and the regional situation. "While officials say, all issues will be discussed between the two leaders, it is 26/11 Mumbai terror attack master mind Hafiz Saeed, who is on everyone’s mind, after the US announced a bounty of ten million dollars for his conviction. Also, no attempt to prosecute other masterminds, besides Saeed, and the continuance of terror training camps on Pakistani soil may come up during the discussions. President Zardari will pay obeisance at the shrine of Sufi Saint Khawaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti in Ajmer. Our correspondent reports that tight security arrangements have been made in Ajmer for his visit.
"This will be the second visit of Mr. Zardari to Ajmer after 2006, when he visited the Shrine with Benazir Bhutto. Elaborate security arrangements have been made at Ajmer. The Dargah premises will be vacated two hours prior to the scheduled visit. Dargarh market will also be closed. The President of Pakistan will reach Sanganer airport in Jaipur in the afternoon in a special aircraft, from where he will leave for Ajmer by helicopter. 300 mt red carpet will be laid from Nizam gate to Astana Sharif in honour of Mr Zardari. Atleast 100 Pakistan Army soldiers, including some senior officials, were buried under snow when an avalanche hit their camp in the Siachen sector. Some reports suggest, as many as 130 soldiers were engulfed by the avalanche and other reports have put the death toll at over 150. The avalanche hit a battalion headquarter at Gyari in the Siachen sector of Pakistan in the Karakoram range of the Himalayas at 6 am yesterday. A rescue operation is on and the Pakistan military has sent helicopters, sniffer dogs and troops to the area to help rescue operations. Northern Command Army Spokesperson Colonel J.S.Brar has said that Indian troops are completely unaffected and safe.

In Odisha, a breakthrough has been achieved between the representatives of government and the interlocutors of the abductors of the Italian national yesterday. Both the sides in a joint statement said that the state government has agreed to release five of the six prisoners as demanded by the abductors. State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the legal processes of releasing the prisoners will take time.
"Our government of Odisha has decided to facilitate the release of 5 persons of that list of 6 persons. Government of Odisha is taking appropriate steps in this matter. There are various legal processes that take place. It will take a little time."
State Home secretary U N Behera said, after several rounds of discussion the two interlocutors have conveyed that the Maoists will release the second Italian Paolo Basusco unharmed and immediately. Meanwhile, the Andhra - Odisha division of Maoists, who have abducted MLA Jhinna Hikaka, asked the government to release five more prisoners, excluding the earlier eight. They have also forwarded the five prisoners' names to be released. The Andhra - Odisha division of Maoists also extended their deadline by another three days from Saturday, which would lapse on Tuesday.

In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces busted a militant hideout in Rajouri district and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition. The Defence spokesman said in Jammu that a joint column of the Rashtriya Rifles and the police busted the hideout in the Kotranka belt of Rajouri yesterday. The recoveries from the hideout include one pistol, 3 AK-47 magazines, 44 rounds of PIKA ammunition, 241 rounds of AK ammunition and other ammunition.

A 55-year-old woman died in Shimla of swine flu. The woman becomes the first victim of the disease in Himachal Pradesh. Medical Superintendent K.S.Rana said, the deceased, who was referred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College in Mandi district after she tested positive for H1N1, died yesterday. State Surveillance Officer Dr Omesh Kumar Bharti said, a team of doctors went to the victim's native place immediately and all the eight family members, who were in close contact with her, were given prophylactic treatment.

In Syria, violence continues unabated despite the April 10 ceasefire deadline by the UN Security Council and the rebuke by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. The Opposition Syrian Observatory of Human Rights reported 80 deaths, including 52 civilians, across the country yesterday. According to an AFP report, nearly 130 people were killed across Syria yesterday, 86 of them being civilians. Most of the civilian casualties were reported from shelling in the town of Latamna in addition to Hama, Homs, Idlib and Aleppo.

Easter, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is being celebrated with fervour and enthusiasm across the world today. In Goa, masses around midnight and peeling of bells in churches and chapels marked the celebration of Easter. Our correspondent has filed this report,
"The feast is celebrated to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion. Earlier, Easter vigils across the state began with the blessing of the new fire, symbolising light penetrating darkness. Christians thronged the churches and chapels in large numbers to hear the masses, following which the state burst into celebrations. The State Governor K Sankaranarayanan, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and the Archbishop Rev Filipe Neri Ferrao have greeted the Christians in the state on the occasion of Easter. In Goa, the five - member Council of Ministers of the BJP Government, headed by Chief Minister Manohar Parriker, will be expanded today. The state Governor K. Sikkim will soon have its first Government Medical College. The Medical College will help overcome the deficiency of MBBS doctors in the government hospitals in the state. Our correspondent reports that this was announced by the state Health Minister D.N.Thakerpa on World Health Day in Gangtok yesterday.
"The new medical college will be in addition to the State Government’s joint venture with a private University, the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences. With an aim to deal with the shortage of para-medical staff, the State Government plans to open one ANM Training Institute each at Chewatar near Singtam in East district and at Geyzing in West district. Besides, a state level GNM Training Institute will be opened in the existing Mandi Samiti building at Lower Sichey near Gangtok. The Health Minister Mr. DN Thakerpa also launched Biomeatric Health Cards under the Chief Minister’s Annual Total and Comprehensive Health Programme to mark the occasion. लोकसभा में विपक्ष की नेता सुषमा स्वराज के नेतृत्व में सांसदों का एक १५ सदस्यीय सर्वदलीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल श्रीलंका के युद्धग्रस्त इलाकों में पुनर्वास और राजनीतिक प्रक्रिया का आकलन करने के लिए जाएगा। इस यात्रा का उद्देश्य श्रीलंकाई तमिलों के प्रति भारत की प्रतिबद्धता को मजबूत करना है। यह प्रतिनिधिमंडल १६ से २१ अप्रैल तक श्रीलंका में रहेगा।----
मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने केन्द्र द्वारा प्रायोजित राष्ट्रीय ई-गवर्नेंस कार्यक्रम के तहत ग्राम पंचायतों के कम्प्यूटरीकरण की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि इस कार्यक्रम का मुख्य उद्देश्य ग्राम पंचायतों को इस काबिल बनाना है कि वे सूचना तकनीकी के जरिए लोगों को सेवाएं मुहैया करा सकें।इन सेवाओं में राशनकार्ड और जन्म, मृत्यु आय मूल निवासी और जाति प्रमाण पत्र जारी करना शामिल हैं। मध्य प्रदेश में कुल २३ हजार १२ हजार ग्राम पंचायतें हैं तथा राज्य सरकार ने वर्ष २०१५ तक सभी ग्राम पंचायतों के कम्प्यूटरीकरण की योजना बनाई है। हर पंचायत भवन में ई-पंचायत के लिए एक कक्ष होगा। ई-पंचायत व्यवस्था के लिए सात सौ ४५ करोड़ रूपये का प्रावधान रखा गया है। शुरू में २६३६ ऐसी ग्राम पंचायतों का कम्प्यूटरीकरण किया जाएगा, जहां बीएसएनएल का ब्रॉडबैंड कनेकेशन उपलब्ध है। बाकी ऐसी पंचायतों जहां बीएसएनएल का ब्रॉडबैंड या वाइमेक्स कनेक्शन उपलब्ध नहीं है, को वीसेट कनेक्शन के माध्यम से इंटरनेट से जोड़ा जाएगा। शारिक नूर, आकाशवाणी समाचार, भोपाल।

जम्मू कश्मीर सरकार भूमिगत जलस्तर बढ़ाने के लिए सीमावर्ती कठुआ जिले में दो कृत्रिम बांध बना रही है। राज्य के वन और पर्यावरण मंत्री मियां अल्ताफ अहमद ने जम्मू में बताया कि ये बांध दाब्बी और फंगेरी इलाकों में ३९ लाख रूपये की लागत से बनाये जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि इस परियोजना पर अब तक १७ लाख रूपये खर्च किये जा चुके हैं। इन बांधों के पूरा होने से मैदानी इलाकों में आवश्यक मात्रा में पानी उपलब्ध होगा और घुमन्तु जातियों, उनके पशुओं और वन्य जीवों के लिए भी पेयजल की सुविधा होगी।----
असम के सभी २७ जिलों में आज से पांच साल से कम उम्र के बच्चों को पोलियो की खुराक पिलाई जा रही है। सरकारी सूत्रों ने बताया है कि इस टीकाकरण अभियान के दौरान ४६ लाख से ज्यादा बच्चों को पोलियो की खुराक पिलाई जाएगी। इसके लिए २३ हजार टीका केन्द्र स्थापित किए गए हैं। कार्यक्रम की सफलता के लिए राज्य स्वास्थ्य विभाग ने ८८ हजार से ज्यादा स्वास्थ्यकर्मियों को तैनात किया है। पोलियो की खुराक आज टीकाकरण केन्द्रों पर पिलाई जा रही है और अगले दो दिन स्वास्थ्यकर्मी घर-घर जाकर बच्चों को पोलियो की खुराक पिलायेंगे।----

पाकिस्तानी सेना ने आशंका जताई है कि सियाचिन ग्लेशियर क्षेत्र में बर्फीले तूफान में मरने वालों की संख्या १३५ तक पहुंच गई है। अभी तक लापता सैनिकों में से किसी के साथ कोई सम्पर्क नहीं हो पाया है। सेना के प्रवक्ता मेजर जनरल अतहर अब्बास ने बताया कि १२४ पाकिस्तानी सैनिक और ११ नागरिक लापता हैं। कल सियाचिन गलेशियर के पास एक सैन्य अड्डा ७० फुट बर्फ की चपेट में आ गया था। बचाव दल को अभी तक कोई भी जीवित व्यक्ति नहीं मिला है।----

The Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that the normalisation of relations with Pakistan is the common desire of the two neighbours. In a joint statement following one on one talks with the visiting Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari in New Delhi this afternoon, Dr. Singh said both the countries have number of issues and they are trying to find a practical and pragmatic solution to all those issues. Calling his discussions with visiting dignitary very constructive and satisfactory, Dr. Singh said that they discussed all bilateral issues that affect the relations of both the countries.
"We have a number of issues and we are willing to find practical-pragmatic solutions to all those issues. And that is the message that President Zardari and I would wish to convey".
In his turn Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari said that they discussed the common issues between the two countries and he is hopeful of positive outcome.
"I am grateful to Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India for inviting me for Lunch although I am on a private visit here but we had some very fruitful bilateral talks together. Mr. Zardari arrived in the Capital with a forty member delegation comprising his 23-year-old son Bilawal, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Pakistan Senate former chairman Farooq H Naek, and President’s spokesperson Farhatullah Babar and Foreign Secretory Jalil Abbas Jiliani besides other officials and family members.
Besides the guests from Pakistan, the lunch is to be attended from the Indian side by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, Senior BJP Leader L K Advani, AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna, Defence Minister A K Antony, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Parliamentary Affairs Minister PK Bansal. Some MPs have also been invited.
After lunch, Zardari and his delegation will fly off to Jaipur in his plane and from there in IAF choppers to Ajmer to offer prayers at the Sufi shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

A delegation of MPs led by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj will travel Sri Lanka to assess the resettlement and political process in war-torn areas. The delegation will visit with an aim of reinforcing India's commitment towards ethnic Sri Lankan Tamils. The 15-member multi-party delegation with the representatives from the Congress, BJP, DMK, AIADMK and Left parties will be in Sri Lanka from April 16 to April 21.
The delegation is likely to meet the country's top leadership including President Mahinda Rajapaksa and travel to northern and eastern parts of the country, which bore the maximum brunt of the nearly three decades-old civil war.
At least seven members of the delegation are from Tamil Nadu, where the issue of Sri Lankan Tamils is emotive. Our correspondent reports, the MPs, while assessing the process of resettlement of Tamils displaced by the war that ended three years back, would press for an early political solution which involves devolution of powers to the Tamils. Besides Ms Swaraj, the delegation will include Congress MPs Sudarshana Natchiappan, Manicka Tagore, and N S V Chithan, DMK's T K S Elangovan and Prahlad Joshi and C P Thakur from BJP. CPI(M) will be represented by T K Rangarajan.
The leaders would travel to Jaffna and Kilinochchi, the de-facto capital of the now vanquished LTTE, and see for themselves the resettlement process taken up after the end of the war. The long-awaited visit by the delegation comes close on the heels of India voting against Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on March 23.

The five- member Goa cabinet in the BJP ruled state under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parriker will be expanded today. The state Governor Mr. K. In Assam, a hardcore ULFA militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Goalpara district today. Official sources said, acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the army and police launched an operation in Mendikona area under Dhupdhara police station and an encounter followed in which the militant was killed.
An AK-56 rifle, a grenade, two magazines, empty cartridges, over a hundred bullets and several extortion notes were recovered from the slain militant, identified as Diganta Rabha alias Calendar.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to set up two artificial dams in the border district of Kathua as part of its efforts to promote recharging of ground water. State Minister for Forest and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmad said in Jammu, the dams are being constructed at Dabbi and Phangeri areas of the district at a cost of 39 lakh rupees.
Once completed, the dams will facilitate necessary supply of water to the fields, apart from providing drinking water facilities to nomads and their livestock, besides the wildlife habitation.

The Madhya Pradesh government has begun the process of computerizing village panchayats under centre sponsored National E-governance Programme. Our correspondent reports that the main objective of the programme is to enable village panchayats to deliver mandated services to the citizens in a better way through Information Technology and to facilitate e-transfer of funds from different levels to village panchayats.
"With a view to making available 29 public utility services through three tier panchayat system under National E-governance Programme, the process of computerizing village panchayats has begun in Madhya Pradesh. Issuance of ration cards and birth-death, income, domicile and caste certificates has been included in these services. Madhya Pradesh has in-all twenty three thousand twelve gram panchayats and the state government has planned to fully computerize all the village panchayats by the year 2015. Every panchayat building will have a room for e-panchayat. A provision of more than seven hundred forty five crore rupees has been made for e-panchayat system. Initially two thousand six hundred thirty six village panchayats of the state will be computerized where BSNL’s broad band connection is available. The Jharkhand government has planned to set up "Silk Parks" to boost silk industry and improve the economic condition of silk cultivators. With an aim to popularise the foreign currency-generating industry in international markets, the proposed parks would come up at North and South Chhotanagpur regions. According to official sources, the parks would encourage tribals and other cultivators to take up silk business seriously and boost their economy to 40,000 to 50,000 rupees per produce.
As sericulture has a potential to increase the economic condition of the cultivators, the government would increase mulberry leaves, a favourite feed of silkworms, in this financial year.

In Assam, oral Polio Vaccine is being administered to children up to the age of five years, covering all the 27 districts from today. Official sources said that over 46 lakh children are likely to be covered in the immunization drive. A total of 23 thousand booths have been set up to administer polio drops.
State health department has deputed over 88 thousand health personnel for the successful implementation of the programme. While pulse polio is being administered today at booth level, health workers will visit door-to- door in the next two days. Teams have been deployed at railway stations, bus stands and other public spots including markets.

Christians around the world today are celebrating Easter, that marks what Christians believe is the triumphant resurrection of Jesus three days after his crucifixion. Many Christians, including Protestants and Catholics, make it a point to go to church on Easter. Thousands of Christians gathered in Jerusalem late last night near the Church of the Holy Sepulcher on the site where many Christians believe Jesus was crucified and buried.
Pope Benedict celebrated an Easter visual mass in Rome, marking the most important date in the Christian calendar. In his homily. he expressed concern that mankind was groping in the dark, unable to distinguish good from evil. The Pope will be 85 this month and the mass was brought forward by a few hours to avoid putting further strain on him. In an interview in Germany, his brother said, Pope Benedict intended to cut back on foreign travel as it was wearing him out.

In Thiruvanananthapuram, Archbishop Dr M Soosai Pakyam led the early morning mass at St Joseph's Metropolitan Cathedral, while Malankara Catholic Major Archbishop Baselious Mar Clemis led the special service at the St Mary's Cathedral. In Kochi, Cardinal George Alencherry led the mass at St Mary's Basilica.
Our correspondent reports that the day also marked the end of the period of Lent, when the faithful abstain from material comforts. After Easter Mass, devotees rushed back home for a special feast as part of the celebrations.

The United States and other Western nations plan to demand that Iran immediately close and ultimately dismantle its Fordo nuclear facility in the new round of talks with Tehran over its nuclear program. A New York Times report quoting US and European diplomats said the world powers will call for a halt in the production of higher-level enrichment of uranium fuel.
They would also press for the shipment of existing stockpiles of that fuel out of Iran. The fresh round of talks are tentatively set for Friday. Last round in January 2011 collapsed when the two sides could not agree even on the agenda. The western nations fear that Teheran is trying to develop nuclear weapons. Iran denies the charges saying its program is meant for civilian purposes.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is urging Mali's military junta to quickly carry out the accord signed with West African leaders to transfer power back to civilian leaders. A U.N. statement late yesterday said, Mr. Ban also called on the junta to refrain from any activities that would undermine the tenets of the agreement with the 15-member Economic Community of West African States - ECOWAS.
Meanwhile, the speaker of Parliament, Dioncounda Traore has returned to his country where he will a play a key role in re-establishing civilian authority, following the recent coup. Under a deal with a regional group in ECOWAS, to end the coup, its leader captain Amadou Sanago has agreed to step down. He promised to restore civilian rule within days.

Fragments of a defunct Russian military communications satellite, Molniya-1T, fell into the Pacific Ocean last night. The Russian state-owned news agency, RIA Novosti, quoted a space agency source as saying that the fragments, which did not burn up in the upper atmosphere, reached the earth's surface before plunging into the Pacific Ocean. The reports didn't identify the specific location where the satellite fragments might land. The 1.6-tonne satellite was launched in August 1996 and was replaced by the Meridian-series in 2006. The service life of the Molniya-1T satellites is two years.

Hackers claim to have disrupted the website of one of the British Government's main Department, the Home Office. The site was unavailable for a time yesterday night and later only partially operational. The group, UK Anonymous, said the attack was a protest about the cases of British citizens, such as Gary McKinnan. The hackers have been fighting extradition to the United States. The hacktivists said the British Government could expect weekly attacks from now on.

भारत ने जोरदार शब्दों में कहा है कि पाकिस्तान को २००८ के मुम्बई आतंकवादी हमले के लिए जिम्मेदार व्यक्तियों को कानून के दायरे में लाना चाहिए। प्रधानमंत्री डॉ० मनमोहन ंिसह ने भारत की यात्रा पर आए पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली जरदारी से कहा कि वे पाकिस्तान की धरती पर भारत के खिलाफ आतंकवादी गतिविधियों पर रोक लगाएं। प्रधानमंत्री ने आतंकवादी संगठन लश्करे तैयबा के संस्थापक हाफिज सईद की गतिविधियों के मामले को भी उठाया। श्री जरदारी ने कहा कि इस बारे में दोनों सरकारों के बीच में और बातचीत की जरूरत है। पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली जरदारी ने कहा कि उन्होंने दोनों देशों को प्रभावित करने वाले सभी मुद्दों पर प्रधानमंत्री से बातचीत की और उन्हें उम्मीद है कि उसका नतीजा सकारात्मक होगा।प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन के साथ मेरी बहुत उपयोगी बातचीत हुई है, भारत और पाकिस्तान दोनों पड़ोसी है और हम भारत के साथ बेहतर संबंध चाहते हैं। हमने उन सभी मुद्दों पर बातचीत की है जिन पर वार्ता संभव थी। आशा है कि डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह जल्द ही पाकिस्तान में मुलाकात होगी।

बैठक के बाद एक संयुक्त बयान में डॉ० मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि भारत और पाकिस्तान चाहते हैं कि उनके आपसी संबंध सामान्य हो। प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि दोनों देशों के बीच कई मुद्दे हैं और उन सबका व्यवहारिक ढंग से हल निकालने की कोशिश की जा रही है। श्री जरदारी के साथ हुई बातचीत को डॉ० सिंह ने रचनात्मक और संतोषजनक बताते हुए कहा कि श्री जरदारी का पाकिस्तान आने का निमंत्रण उन्होंने स्वीकार लिया है।

विदेश सचिव श्री रंजन मथाई ने मीडिया के लोगों को बताया कि दोपहर के भोजन से पहले ४० मिनट की बातचीत में दोनों नेताओं ने यह महसूस किया कि दोनों देशों के बीच बातचीत की प्रक्रिया में प्रगति हुई है।
प्रधानमंत्री और पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति ने यह महसूस किया है कि पिछले साल बातचीत में बाधा आने के बाद अब दोनों देशों के बीच बातचीत की प्रक्रिया में लगातार प्रगति हुई है। नियोजित तरीके से यह आने वाले महीनों में यह प्रक्रिया जारी रहेगी।

प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने सियाचिन सेक्टर में पाकिस्तान सेना के एक प्रमुख कैंप पर बर्फ की एक बहुत बड़ी चट्टान गिरने और उसके नीचे दबे एक सौ ३५ लोगों को तत्काल निकालने में पाकिस्तान को मानवीय सहायता उपलब्ध कराने की पेशकश की है। दबे हुए लोगों में अधिकतर सैनिक हैं।बर्फ की यह चट्टान सियाचिन सेक्टर में ग्यारी में एक बटालियन के मुख्यालय पर गिरी, जिसमें एक सौ २४ सुरक्षाकर्मी और ११ नागरिक एक किलोमीटर चौड़े इलाके में ८० फुट बर्फ के नीचे दब गए।

वित्तमंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने प्रत्यक्ष कर का दायरा बढ़ाये जाने पर संतोष व्यक्त किया है। आज बंगलौर में प्रत्यक्ष कर प्रशिक्षण संस्थान का उद्घाटन करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि पहले अप्रत्यक्ष करों पर देश की निर्भरता चिन्ता की बात थी, लेकिन अब प्रत्यक्ष करों का दायरा साठ प्रतिशत से अधिक बढ़ गया है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि यह प्रत्यक्ष कर विभाग के वसूली अधिकारियों के सराहनीय कार्य का ही नतीजा है।------
ग्रामीण विकास मंत्री जयराम रमेश ने कहा है कि ग्रामीण विकास कार्यक्रमों को लागू करने में राज्य सरकारों की सलाह महत्वपूर्ण होगी। मुम्बई में आज एक समारोह में उन्होंने कहा कि उनका मंत्रालय देश भर में अपने प्रमुख कार्यक्रमों को लागू करने में लचीलापन बरतने की योजना बना रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि ग्रामीण विकास कार्यक्रमों के लिए निर्धारित ५० प्रतिशत राशि को इस साल के अंत तक राज्य सरकारों को उनकी जरूरतों के अनुसार चरणबद्ध रूप से जारी कर दिया जाएगा।------

India has asserted that Pakistan must bring the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack to justice. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh told the visiting Pakistan President Mr. Asif Ali Zardari to prevent activities against India on Pakistani soil. The Prime Minister also brought forward the issue of activities of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba founder Hafiz Saeed who was the mastermind behind the Mumbai terror attack. Dr. Singh said that the issue of terrorism is a major issue by which the Indian people will judge improvement in bilateral relations.
Mr. Zardari said, the matter need to be discussed further between the two governments. It was noted that the Home Secretaries of both the countries are to meet shortly to discussed the issue further. President Zardari said that all issues including that of Sir Creeck, Siachen and Kashmir needed to be addressed. Both the leaders felt that there was a need to move forward step by step on all issues. The two leaders also discussed development in the region.
Both the countries agreed that furthering the dialogue process will bring mutual benefits. Giving priority to people to people contact both the leaders agreed that the liberalised visa agreement will be signed in the next meeting of Home Secretaries. In a joint statement following one on one talks with the visiting Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari in New Delhi this afternoon, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the normalisation of relations with Pakistan is the common desire of the two neighbours. He said both the countries have a number of issues and they are trying to find a practical and pragmatic solution to all those issues.
Calling his discussions with the visiting dignitary as very constructive and satisfactory, Dr. Singh said that they discussed all bilateral issues that affect the relations of both the countries.
"We have a number of issues and we are willing to find practical-pragmatic solutions to all those issues. And that is the message that President Zardari and I would wish to convey".
In his turn, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari said that they discussed the common issues between the two countries and he is hopeful of a positive outcome.
"I am grateful to Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India for inviting me for Lunch although I am on a private visit here but we had some very fruitful bilateral talks together. We spoken on all topics that we could have spoken about and we are hoping to meet on Pakistan soil very soon.""
The visiting dignitary Zardari invited Dr. Singh to Pakistan which the later accepted.
"I would be very happy to visit Pakistan on a mutually convenient date. The relations between India and Pakistan should become normal that is our common desire."
Briefing media persons, the Foreign Secretary Mr. Ranjan Mathai said that in the 40 minute pre-lunch discussion, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari noted that there has been steady progress in the dialogue process between the two countries.
PM and the Pakistani President noted that their had been study progress in the dialog process which was restarted last year. Dialog process will continued as plained in the months to come."

"Dignitaries who participated in the luncheon said,the talk about terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba founder Hafiz Saeed continued over a delicious spread and President Zardari pointed out to the Prime Minister that the terror mastermind was arrested four times and released by court every time. Zardari was also keen to know from Dr.Singh how India managed to have better trade relations with China with whom it had a boundary dispute. The Prime Minister is understood to have told Zardari that India and China have worked out a mechanism to manage the boundary dispute. Dr.Singh said that could be a good framework to take forward the trade relations. It is learnt that the two leaders were keen to double bilateral trade by 2014. Towards the end of lunch, Prime Minister told President Zardari that since he was going to Ajmersharif, he should pray before Khwaja Sahib for peace in both the countries, to which President Zardari agreed. Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari visited the shrine of sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti in Ajmer today. His son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and a Pakistani delegation accompanied him. Mr Zardari reached Ajmer from Jaipur where Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot welcomed him. More from our correspondent:
"Mr. Zardari and his son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and a Pakistani delegation stayed for about 25 minutes in the holy shrine. The President of Pakistan offered a Chadar on Mazar of Sufi Saint and prayed for welfare of humanity .He announced to donate 10 lakh dollars for the shrine of Khwaja Saheb. Mr Zardari was welcomed by members of Dargah and Anzumah committees at Nizam gate of Dargah.A 300 mt .long red carpet was laid from Nizam gate to Aastana sharif for Mr. Zardari.These committees presented him a sword , ,holy Kuran and a book on Khawaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti . Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal who was accompanying Mr.Zardari also offered a Chadar on Mazar of Sufisaint on behalf of the Prime Minister Dr. ManMohan Singh. Anurag Vajpeyi/Jaipur"

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parriker today expanded his cabinet by inducting six more ministers. State Governor K. Sankaranarayanan administered the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers at Raj Bhavan in Dona Paula near Panaji. A Congress panel headed by senior party leader A.K. Antony today held discussions with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna to look into the reasons for the party's performance in the recent assembly polls in the state. The party failed to get a majority on its own. It is also reviewing the party's performance at the hustings in Goa and Punjab. Bahuguna, who is a Lok Sabha MP, will have to contest an election and become member of the State legislative Assembly within a stipulated time frame to continue in office. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi launched Rastriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan, RMSA, at a function in Guwahati today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gogoi said, his government is committed for the development of the education sector. More from our correspondent:
"The objective of the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan is to provide a secondary school within a radius of 5 kilometer and a Higher Secondary school within a radius of 7 to 10 present kilometer of every habitation. Another aim of the mission is to ensure universal access to education for children in the age group of 14 to 18 years. Assam Government has decided to increase the number of school to 5000 by 2016 from present 2600."

In Andhra Pradesh, curfew was imposed in Saidabad and Madannapet police station areas of Hyderabad this afternoon following clashes between two groups. Police said, trouble broke out over the alleged reports of desecration of a religious place in the old city area. Police clamped curfew as the stone pelting incidents between the clashing groups continued unabated. Rapid Action Forces have been deployed in the area. Additional forces have been deployed at all sensitive places in the old city.

In boxing, India's Vijender Singh has qualified for the London Olympics in the 75 kg category. In the Asian Olympic qualifier, at Astana in Kajakhstan, Vijender has reached the semifinals after defeating Chuluntumur Tumurkhuyag of Mangolia in the quarterfinals. The semifinal clash between Vijender and Nusrat Pajiyev of Turkamenistan will take place on Wednesday. Vijender is the first Indian boxer to qualify for the Olympics for the third time in succession. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has expressed satisfaction over increase in direct tax base. Speaking after inaugurating the Direct Taxes Training Institute in Bangalore today, the Minister said the country's heavy dependence on indirect taxes earlier was worrying, but now direct tax base has increased by over 60 percent.
