ओड़िशा में बीजू जनता दल के अपहृत विधायक झिना हिकाका अब भी माओवादियों के कब्जे में हैं। ओड़िशा सरकार ने सीपीआई माओवादियों की आंध्र ओड़िशा सीमा विशेष क्षेत्रीय समिति से फिर अपील की है कि श्री हिकाका को तुरंत सही सलामत छोड़ दें।ओड़ीशा के गृहसचिव उपेन्द्रनाथ बेहरा ने भुवनेश्वर में आकाशवाणी संवाददाता को बताया कि प्रजा अदालत के बारे में कोई सूचना नहीं मिली है। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार को इसकी कोई जानकारी नहीं है और उन्हें इस बारे में केवल समाचार माध्यमों से ही पता चला है। श्री बेहरा ने कहा कि सरकार राज्य की विभिन्न जेलों में बंद १३ व्यक्तियों के खिलाफ मुकदमें वापस लेने की घोषणा पहले ही कर चुकी है और उम्मीद है कि यह घोषणा माओवादियों तक पहुंच गई है।

भारत ने परमाणु हथियार ले जाने में सक्षम अंतर-महाद्वीपीय बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल का कल सफल परीक्षण कर इस दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम बढाया है। इसकी मारक क्षमता पांच हजार किलोमीटर है। जमीन से जमीन पर मार करने वाली अग्नि-५ मिसाइल का ओडिशा तट के पास व्हिलर द्वीप से एक चलते फिरते प्लेटफार्म से किया गया। इस परीक्षण के साथ भारत महत्वपूर्ण पांच देशों के साथ खड़ा हो गया है, जिनके पास अंतर-महाद्वीपीय मिसाइल हैं।भारत ने पहली बार ऐसी मिसाइल का निर्माण किया है, जिसके दायरे में पूरा चीन आ गया है।राष्ट्रपति, उप राष्ट्रपति और प्रधानमंत्री ने अग्नि-५ के सफल परीक्षण पर डी.आर.डी.ओ. के वैज्ञानिकों तथा तकनीशियनों को बधाई दी है।रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन- डीआरडीओ के निदेशक वी० के० सारस्वत ने कहा है कि ये मिसाइल रूख बदलेगा और कई भूमिकाएं निभा सकता है।अग्नि-५ के प्रक्षेपण के साथ भारत एक बड़ी मिसाइल शक्ति के रूप में उभरा है और यह उन छह देशों के समूह में शामिल हो गया है, जिनके पास इस प्रकार की मिसाइलों को डिजाइन करने, इनका विकास करने, निर्माण करने की क्षमता है और साथ ही रक्षा क्षेत्र में सामरिक क्षमता भी है।

सरकार जल्दी ही राष्ट्रीय इलैक्ट्रोनिक्स नीति जारी करेगी। संचार और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल ने कल पत्रकारों से कहा कि योजना आयोग के साथ विचार विमर्श चल रहा है और यह नीति जल्दी ही जारी होने की संभावना है। उन्होंने बताया कि नीति का मसौदा अक्तूबर में जारी किया गया था और उस पर व्यापक विचार विमर्श पूरा हो चुका है। इस नीति में आने वाले दशक के लिए देश में इलैक्ट्रोनिक क्षेत्र में विकास का पूरा खाका दिया जाएगा।इससे पहले श्री सिब्बल ने सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग का नाम बदलकर इलैक्ट्रोनिक्स और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग करने के लिए आयोजित समारोह की अध्यक्षता की।सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री ने कहा कि सरकार देश में इलैक्ट्रोनिक क्षेत्र के विकास के लिए कई कदम उठा चुकी है। भारत सेमीकन्डेक्टर डिजाइन का केन्द्र बन चुका है जिससे करीब दो अरब डॉलर की आमदनी हो रही है। श्री सिब्बल ने बताया कि देश का इलैक्ट्रोनिक क्षेत्र २०२० तक करीब एक सौ अरब डॉलर के निवेश से करीब चार सौ अरब डॉलर का कारोबार करना चाहता है जिससे लगभग दो करोड़ अस्सी लाख लोगों को रोजगार मिलेगा।

सरकार गुमराह करने वाले विज्ञापनों की समस्या से निपटने के लिए अंतर- मंत्रालय समिति बनाने पर विचार कर रही है। उपभोक्ता मामलों के मंत्री के वी थॉमस ने कल नई दिल्ली में उपभोक्ताओं पर गुमराह करने वाले विज्ञापनों के प्रभाव पर सम्मेलन का उदघाटन करते हुये यह जानकारी दी। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार इस सम्मेलन सहित क्षेत्रीय स्तर पर आयोजित इस तरह के चार अन्य सम्मेलनों में दिये गये सुझावों के आधार पर गुमराह करने वाले विज्ञापनों पर अंकुश लगाने के तरीके खोजेगी।----
उच्चतम न्यायालय ने देश में त्वरित अदालतें बंद करने के केन्द्र के निर्णय को यह कहकर उचित ठहराया है कि यह एक नीतिगत फैसला है। हालांकि न्यायालय ने राज्य सरकारों को यह योजना इस शर्त के साथ जारी रखने की अनुमति दे दी है कि इसे तदर्थ आधार पर नहीं बल्कि न्याय प्रदान करने की व्यवस्था का स्थायी अंग बना दिया जाना चाहिए।लगभग दस साल पहले अदालतों में लम्बित मामलों को निपटाने में तेजी लाने के लिए लगभग एक हजार सात सौ त्वरित अदालतों का गठन किया गया था।

केन्द्र ने उच्चतम न्यायालय को सूचित किया है कि एक नई राष्ट्रीय औषध नीति जल्द ही बनाई जाएगी। इसमें चार सौ अड़तीस जरूरी दवाएं शामिल होंगी जिनका मूल्य आम आदमी की पहुंच के भीतर होगा। केन्द्र ने यह बात एक गैर सरकारी संगठन द्वारा दायर जनहित याचिका पर कही है। इस याचिका में आरोप लगाया गया है कि जीवन के लिए खतरनाक बीमारियों के लिए कई जरूरी दवाओं की कीमतें आम आदमी की पहुंच से बाहर हो गई हैं। न्यायालय ने इस मामले की सुनवाई स्थगित कर दी है।-----

सीरिया और संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने युद्ध विराम निगरानी मिशन की शर्तों पर हस्ताक्षर कर दिये हैं। संयुक्त राष्ट्र के विशेष दूत कोफी अन्नान के कार्यालय ने कल इस बारे में एक बयान जारी किया । संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून ने सीरिया में तीन महीने के निगरानी अभियान के लिए ३०० निरीक्षकों को भेजने का अनुरोध किया था। सुरक्षा परिषद को भेजी रिपोर्ट में श्री बान की मून ने कहा है कि पूर्ण युद्ध विराम की जरूरत के बारे में सीरिया को स्पष्ट संदेश भेजा जाना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि सीरिया सरकार ने अभी तक अपने सैनिक और टैंक शहरों से नहीं हटाये हैं। संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव ने कहा कि हिंसक गतिविधियां बढ़ गई हैं और सीरिया सरकार तथा विद्रोहियों को शांति के बारे में प्रतिबद्धता दिखाने की जरूरत है।-----

भारत ने सियाचिन मुद्दे के समाधान और वहां से सैनिकों को हटाने के बारे में पाकिस्तान के सेनाध्यक्ष जनरल अशफाक परवेज+ कयानी के बयान का स्वागत किया है। भारत ने कहा है कि सैनिकों की तैनाती पर खर्च किये जा रहे धन का इस्तेमाल दोनों देशों में विकास के काम में किया जा सकता है। रक्षा राज्य मंत्री एम.एम. पल्ल्म राजू ने हैदराबाद में संवाददाताओं से कहा कि उन्हें इस बात की खुशी है कि पाकिस्तान भी सियाचिन में सैनिकों की तैनाती से जुड़ी चुनौतियों और आर्थिक समस्याओं को महसूस कर रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि सियाचिन में सैनिकों की तैनाती पर बड़ा खर्च आ रहा है।दिल्ली में सरकारी सूत्रों ने भी श्री कयानी के बयान को सकारात्मक बताया है। सूत्रों ने कहा कि इससे दोनों देशों के बीच मुद्दे हल करने के बारे में सेना के सकारात्मक रुख का पता चलता है।-----

अकुशल प्रवासी भारतीय कामगारों के लिए एक व्यापक पेन्शन और जीवन बीमा योजना प्रायोगिक आधार पर अगले महीने केरल, दुबई और अबू धाबी में शुरू की जाएगी। १५ अगस्त तक इसे लागू करने के तौर-तरीकों को अंतिम रूप दिया जा रहा है। दुबई में कल हुई बैठक की अध्यक्षता भारत के महावाणिज्य दूत संजय वर्मा ने की। हमारे संवाददाता की रिपोर्टः-पेंशन और जीवन बीमा निधि यानी पी एल आई एफ उन प्रवासी भारतीय कामगारों पर लागू होगी, जिनके पास ईसीआर यानी उत्प्रवास स्वीकृति अपेक्षित पासपोर्ट है। पी एल आई एफ के तहत प्रवासी भारतीय कार्य मंत्रालय द्वारा हर साल एक हजार से बारह हजार रूपये तक बचाने वाली प्रवासी भारतीय कामगारों के खाते में सरकार एक हजार रुपये और महिलाओं के खाते में दो हजार रुपये की अंशदान करेगी। पीएलआईएफ से जुड़े कामगार जो सालाना चार हजार रुपये तक बचाते हैं, उनके खाते में सरकार एक हजार रुपये सालाना का अंशदान करेगी। साथ ही विदेश में रहने की समय सीमा तक जीवन बीमा निगम यानी एलआईसी उन्हें मुत जीवन बीमा कवर देगा। अतुल तिवारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार।

Maoists had already refused to extend the deadline for fulfillment of their demand to release 29 prisoners in exchange of the MLA. India has successfully test-fired the nuclear-capable Agni-V Inter- Continental Ballistic Missile, ICBM, with a striking range of over 5000 km. The surface-to-surface Agni-V was launched from a mobile platform from the Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast yesterday. With this India has joined the elite group of the USA, Russia, China, France and Britain in this capability.
Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister and Defence Research and Development Organisation, DRDO Chief V.K. Saraswat has called the missile a game changer that can perform different roles. It can carry multiple warheads providing anti-satellite capability as well as launching tiny satellites into orbit. Dr. Saraswat said production of the weapon system will start in a year's time.
"With the launch of Agni V, India has emerged as a major missile power and has joined the select group of 6 countries who have the capability to design, develop, build, manufacture and have the strategic capability as far as this kind of defence is concerned."

The Government will soon launch a national Policy on electronics, NPE, in the country. Talking to reporters in New Delhi Minister for Communications and Information Technology Kapil Sibal said that a dialogue is on with the planning commission and that the policy is expected to be launched soon. He said the draft policy was released last October and the process of widespread consultations is over. The minister said the policy will provide a clear road map for development of the electronics sector in the country for the coming decade.
Earlier, Mr. Sibal presided over the renaming function of the Department of Information Technology, which is now the Department of Electronics and Information Technology.

The government is considering setting up an inter-ministerial group to tackle the menace of misleading advertisements. Consumer Affairs, Food and Public distribution Minister K V Thomas said this in New Delhi while inaugurating the 5th and final seminar on Impact of misleading advertisements on consumers. He said, the government will find ways to curb misleading advertisements on the basis of the suggestions that came up in this seminar and 4 similar seminars held at regional levels.
Mr Thomas said the widely accepted opinion is that both self-regulation and legal control should work in synergy.
"Outdated laws and poor enforcement of laws are the main reasons for the prevalence of any social malady and mal advertising is no exception. The need of the hour therefore is better laws, a regular updation, improved enforcement and regular surveillance by the authority. "

The Centre has told the Supreme Court that a new National Drug Policy would be in place shortly. The policy will consist of 438 essential medicines which are priced within the common man's reach. The Centre's response comes in the backdrop of a PIL filed by an NGO alleging that the prices of several essential drugs for life threatening disease had gone beyond the reach of the common man.

The Supreme Court has directed the Central Pollution Control Board, CPCB to file a comprehensive affidavit on the character and content of reported contamination of ground water in Bhopal's Arifnagar area due to the 1984 Union Carbide gas tragedy. A bench of the apex court also asked the Board to recommend measures to overcome the contamination as well as action to be taken in this regard. The bench passed the order while dealing with a PIL filed by an NGO on various pollution related issues in the country.

Syria and the United Nations have signed an agreement on the terms of a ceasefire monitoring mission. A statement to this effect was issued by the office of the UN Special Envoy Kofi Annan yesterday. UN Chief Ban Ki-moon has called for 300 monitors to be sent on a three-month observation mission to Syria. Mr. Ban said in a report to the Security Council that a clear signal must be sent to Syria about the need for a full truce. He said the Syrian Government has not yet moved its troops and tanks from cities to the barracks. Ban Ki Moon warned that violence has gone up and that both the Syrian government and rebels need to be committed to the truce.

A Comprehensive Pension and Life Insurance Scheme for manual or unskilled migrant overseas Indian worker will be launched on a pilot basis in Kerala, Dubai and Abu Dhabi next month. The modalities for implementation are being finalized. A delegation of representatives from the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Ministry of Finance and the Pension Fund Regulatory Development Authority of India met the officials, representatives from banks, Money Exchange Centers and Community leaders in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to give final touches to implement the scheme. "The Pension and Life Insurance Fund Scheme, PLIF will be for blue collar overseas migrant Indian worker who is an ECR or Emigration Clearance Required passport holder. The scheme will help them to save money for their return and resettlement back home, for their old age saving and provide them life insurance cover against natural death. It is a voluntary and contributory scheme. The eligible workers must save between Rs 1,000 to Rs 12,000 per year. Government will contribute Rs 1,000 per year for overseas male and Rs. 2,000 for overseas female workers. Telecom regulator TRAI has approved a hike in the processing fee for all mobile recharge coupons or top-up vouchers priced above 20 rupees but have left unchanged the vouchers below that amount. TRAI cleared the increase of 50 per cent in the charge through an amendment made to the Telecom Traiff Order, TTO after about two-and-half years. TRAI said in the TTO that the authority has decided to increase the ceiling on Processing Fee on Top up vouchers to 3 rupees from 2 rupees in respect of Top up vouchers having a maximum retail price of 20 rupees and above.

देश में आर्थिक संकट से जूझ रही विमानन क्षेत्र की वित्तीय समस्याओं को हल करने के उद्देश्य से सरकार ने इस क्षेत्र को विदेशी व्यावसायिक ऋणों के जरिए एक अरब डॉलर की कार्यशील पूंजी जुटाने की अनुमति दी है। लेकिन यह सीमा एक विमान कंपनी के लिए ३० करोड़ डॉलर तक ही होगी। नागरिक विमानन क्षेत्र के लिए विदेशी व्यावसायिक ऋण की यह सुविधा केवल एक वर्ष के लिए उपलब्ध होगी।वित्त मंत्रालय द्वारा जारी वक्तव्य के अनुसार इस नीतिगत फैसले से विमानन उद्योग को कम लागत पर पूंजी जुटाने का अतिरिक्त साधन उपलब्ध होगा और उन्हें अपने मौजूदा आर्थिक संकट से उबरने में सहायता मिलेगी। रिजर्व बैंक द्वारा एक सप्ताह के अंदर इस बारे में परिपत्र या अधिसूचना जारी किए जाने की संभावना है। विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि देश में विमानन क्षेत्र में तेजी से विकास के कारण इसकी कार्यशील पूंजी और क्षमता विस्तार के लिए अतिरिक्त धनराशि जुटाने की जरूरत बढ़ गई है। विमानन उद्योग पर उच्च संचालन लागत विशेष रूप से ईंधन की अत्यधिक कीमत के कारण अतिरिक्त बोझ पड़ रहा है।

सरकार ने ५८६ करोड़ रूपये से अधिक के प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश के २२ प्रस्तावों को मंजूरी दे दी है। इन प्रस्तावों को विदेशी निवेश संवर्द्धन बोर्ड की सिफारिशों पर मंजूरी दी गई है। सरकारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार इनमें इलेक्ट्रोनिक्स और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी, इस्पात, स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण, रक्षा उत्पादन, उच्च शिक्षा, सूचना और प्रसारण तथा दूरसंचार क्षेत्रों के प्रस्ताव शामिल हैं।

सरकार उच्च शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्टता के वैश्विक मानदंड स्थापित करने और नवीन अनुसंधान व्यवस्था कायम करने के लिए १४ नवाचार विश्वविद्यालय कायम करने की योजना बना रही है। मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल ने आज नई दिल्ली में नवाचार के बारे में भारत-ब्रिटेन गोलमेज सम्मेलन में उद्घाटन भाषण देते हुए यह जानकारी दी। श्री सिब्बल ने कहा कि इन विश्वविद्यालयों को अपने विषय चुनने, प्रवेश के नियम, शैक्षिक कार्यक्रम और मैरिट व्यवस्था तय करने की स्वतंत्रता होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि इन विश्वविद्यालयों को गुणवत्ता के उच्चतम मानदंड कायम करने होंगे और ये राष्ट्रीय नवाचार परिषद के लिए जरूरी पेशेवर विशेषज्ञ और वैज्ञानिक उपलब्ध कराएंगे। इनके अलावा इस क्षेत्र में सामुहिक नवाचार केन्द्र बनाने का भी प्रस्ताव है।
श्री सिब्बल ने प्रस्तावित नवाचार विश्वविद्यालयों और समूहों के लिए ब्रिटेन से सहयोग की अपील की। श्री सिब्बल ने नवीन विचारों और अनुसंधान को बढ़ावा देने के लिए उच्च शिक्षा संस्थानों में निजी निवेश की आवश्यकता पर भी जोर दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि २०१० से २०२० तक की अवधि को नवाचार दशक घोषित किया गया है।

ओड़िशा सरकार ने कहा है कि वह बीजू जनता दल विधायक झिना हिकाका की रिहाई के लिए माओवादियों के दबाव के आगे नहीं झुकेगी। राज्य के गृह सचिव उपेन्द्र नाथ बेहरा ने बताया कि सरकार विभिन्न जेलों में बंद पांच माओवादियों सहित १३ कैदियों के खिलाफ मुकदमें वापस लेने को तैयार है। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार २९ में से २५ कैदियों को जमानत पर रिहा करने का आश्वासन पहले ही दे चुकी है। उन्होंने कहा कि माओवादियों का समर्थन प्राप्त चासी मुलिया आदिवासी संघ के सात सदस्यों ने जमानत के लिए आवेदन किया था जिनमें से पांच की जमानत मंजूर की जा चुकी है। श्री बेहरा ने सभी २९ कैदियों के खिलाफ मुकदमें वापस लेने की मांग को नामंजूर कर दिया। इस बीच, सीपीआई माओवादी की आंध्र-ओडीशा सीमा क्षेत्रीय समिति ने कहा है कि श्री झिना हिकाका के बारे में अंतिम फैसला प्रजा अदालत के बाद इस महीने की २५ तारीख तक कर लिया जाएगा।

केरल में, एनरीका लेक्सी पोत पर इटली के नाविकों द्वारा मारे गये दो मछुआरों के सम्बन्धियों ने केरल उच्च न्यायालय में नई याचिका दायर की है जिसमें कहा गया है कि मुआवजे के दावे का फैसला करने के लिए यह मामला लोक अदालत को भेजा जाये। मुआवजे के दावे के बारे में मामला अदालत के बाहर सुलझाने का एक प्रयास है। यह याचिका इटली सरकार द्वारा उनके सम्बन्धियों को अदालत से बाहर मामला सुलझाने के लिए मृतकों के सम्बन्धियों को एक-एक करोड़ रूपये देने की पेशकश किये जाने के बाद दायर की गई है। उच्च न्यायालय में याचिका पर विचार किया जा रहा है।

आन्ध्रप्रदेश में थुम्मालपल्ली में वाई एस आर जिले में राज्य के पहले यूरेनियम खनन और प्रसंस्करण संयंत्र में आज से उत्पादन शुरू हो गया है। परमाणु ऊर्जा विभाग के सचिव और परमाणु ऊर्जा आयोग के अध्यक्ष श्रीकुमार बैनर्जी ने इस संयंत्र का उद्घाटन किया। इस अवसर पर उन्होंने कहा कि थुम्मालपल्ली में दूसरा संयंत्र भी जल्द ही स्थापित किया जायेगा।नये संयंत्र की प्रतिदिन तीन हजार टन यूरेनियम खनन और प्रसंस्करण क्षमता है। यह खान विश्व की सबसे बड़ी खानों में से एक मानी जाती है। नौ सौ हैक्टेयर भूमि पर लगाये गये इस संयंत्र की लागत ११ सौ करोड़ रूपये है। इससे परमाणु कार्यक्रमों के लिए जरूरी मात्रा में यूरेनियम ईंधन देश में ही उपलब्ध हो सकेगा।

उच्चतम न्यायालय द्वारा नियुक्त उच्च अधिकार प्राप्त समिति ने कर्नाटक के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री बी एस येदियुरप्पा के खिलाफ खनन घोटाले में उनकी कथित भूमिका को लेकर सीबीआई से जांच की सिफारिश की है। उच्च अधिकार प्राप्त समिति ने कहा है कि पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और उनके संबंधियों द्वारा खनन के ठेके दिए जाने में बहुत अनियमितताएं हुईं। इस समिति ने सिफारिश की है कि पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री के परिवार के सदस्यों द्वारा चलाए जा रहे ट्रस्टों को पैसा दिए जाने की सीबीआई जांच कर सकती है। पी वी जयकृष्णन की अध्यक्षता वाली इस उच्च स्तरीय समिति ने भारत के प्रधान न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति एच एस कापड़िया को अपनी रिपोर्ट दी है।----
चेन्नई की एक फास्ट ट्रैक अदालत ने आज सनसनीखेज दिलशान हत्या मामले में अवकाश प्राप्त कर्नल रामराज को उम्र कैद और साठ हजार रूपये जुर्माने की सजा सुनाई है। खचाखच भरी पांचवीं फास्ट ट्रैक अदालत की जज राधा ने फैसला सुनाते हुए कहा कि अभियोजन पक्ष द्वारा आरोप साबित करने के बाद इस मामले में कोई संदेह नहीं रह गया है। १३ वर्षीय दिलशान को पिछले वर्ष तीन जुलाई को तब गोली मार दी गई थी जब वह उच्च सुरक्षा वाले सेना के आवासीय परिसर में दीवार फांद कर फल तोड़ने चला गया था।----
आंध्र प्रदेश उच्च न्यायालय ने कडप्पा के सांसद वाई एस जगनमोहन रेड्डी के खिलाफ आय के ज्ञात स्रोतों से अधिक संपत्ति के मामले में विजय साईरेड्डी को दी गई जमानत आज रद्द कर दी। विजय साईरेड्डी इस मामले में दूसरे अभियुक्त हैं और हैदराबाद में सीबीआई की विशेष अदालत ने करीब एक हफ्ते पहले उनकी जमानत मंजूर की थी। उच्च न्यायालय ने विशेष अदालत के फैसले को चुनौती देने वाली सीबीआई की याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए ये जमानत रद्द की। न्यायमूर्ति भानु ने सीबीआई की विशेष अदालत को जमानत याचिका पर फिर से सुनवाई करने को कहा। जगनमोहन रेड्डी की कंपनियों के ऑडिटर विजय साईरेड्डी को इस वर्ष जनवरी के पहले हफ्ते में अवैध संपत्ति के इस मामले में गिरफ्तार किया गया था।----
उच्चतम न्यायालय ने आज के.डी पंत मामले में गुजरात के निलंबित आई पी एस अधिकारी संजीव भट्ट के खिलाफ कार्रवाई स्थगित कर दी। उच्चतम न्यायालय ने मामले की कार्रवाई १५ जुलाई तक स्थगित की है। गुजरात पुलिस ने संजीव भट्ट को सितम्बर २०११ में गिरतार किया था। उन पर मुख्यमंत्री के खिलाफ झूठा हलफनामा पेश करने के लिए सिपाही के.डी पंत पर कथित दबाव डालने का आरोप है। ----
जयपुर मैट्रो परियोजना का पहला चरण अगले साल जून तक पूरा हो जायेगा। राज्य के शहरी विकास मंत्री शान्ति धारीवाल ने विधानसभा में बताया कि इस चरण का आधा काम पूरा हो गया है और सरकार ने इसे घनी आबादी वाले क्षेत्रों तक भी बढ़ाने का फैसला किया है। उन्होंने बताया कि मानसरोवर से बड़ी चौपड़ तक पहले चरण की मैट्रो लाइन पर तीन हजार, १४९ करोड़ रूपये का खर्च आयेगा।----

प्रधानमंत्री, नई दिल्ली में कल एक समारोह में सातवें लोकसेवा दिवस का उद्घाटन करेंगे। डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह वर्ष २०१०-११ के लिए लोक प्रशासन में उत्कृष्ट कार्य के लिए प्रधानमंत्री पुरस्कार प्रदान करेंगे। सरकारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार इन पुरस्कारों के लिए तीन श्रेणियॉं- व्यक्तिगत, समूह,और संगठन बनाई गई हैं। एक पुरस्कार लीबिया में गृहयुद्ध के दौरान भारतीय नागरिकों को निकालने के लिए की गई निस्वार्थ सेवा के लिए दिया जायेगा। समूह श्रेणी में त्रिपुरा को ग्राम स्वास्थ्य और पोषण तथा जम्मू कश्मीर को पंचायत चुनाव सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न कराये जाने के लिए पुरस्कार दिये जायेंगे। पुरस्कार में एक पदक, प्रशस्तिपत्र और एक लाख रूपये नकद दिये जायेंगे। समूह पुरस्कार के तहत कुल पॉंच लाख रूपये दिये जायेंगे। संगठन पुरस्कार के लिए यह सीमा पॉंच लाख रूपये है। इस अवसर पर पिछले पॉंच वर्ष के दौरान सरकारी कर्मचारियों द्वारा लिखी गई पुस्तकों की प्रदर्शनी लगाई जायेगी।----
मध्य प्रदेश में गर्मी की छुट्टियों के दौरान सूखा प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में दोपहर का भोजन योजना के अंतर्गत विद्यार्थियों को खाना दिया जाएगा। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि यह व्यवस्था सरकारी छुट्टियों को छोड़कर १५ जून तक जारी रहेगी।प्रदेश के राजस्व विभाग ने १९ जिलों की ४४ तहसीलों को सूखा प्रभावित घोषित किया है। इन तहसीलों की प्राथमिक और माध्यमिक शालाओं के विद्यार्थियों को गर्मियों की छुट्टियों के दौरान मध्यान् भोजन योजना के तहत पका हुआ गर्म भोजन दिया जाएगा। इस संबंध में मध्यान् भोजन योजना परिषद ने सभी जिला पंचायतों के मुख्य कार्यपालन अधिकारियों को विस्तृत निर्देश भेज दिए हैं। ये निर्देशित किया गया है कि किसी भी स्थिति में बासी भोजन प्रदाय नहीं किया जाए। भोजन सुबह नौ से दस बजे तक वितरित किया जाएगा। शारिक नूर आकाशवाणी समाचार भोपाल।

नेपाल में तीन हजार, १२९ पूर्व माओवादी विद्रोहियों को नेपाल सेना में शामिल करने के लिए चुना गया है। सेना की एक विशेष समिति ने सभी सातों छावनियों में इसके लिए दूसरे दौर की चयन प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी है। प्रमुख राजनीतिक दलों के बीच सात सूत्री समझौते के अनुसार छह हजार, पॉंच सौ पूर्व माओवादी विद्राहियों को सेना में शामिल किया गया है। पिछले साल नवम्बर में पहले दौर की चयन प्रक्रिया के तहत नौ हजार, ७०५ पूर्व माओवादी विद्रोहियों को सेना में शामिल करने के लिए चुना गया था।----
भारत में अमरीका की नवनियुक्त राजदूत नैन्सी पावेल अपना पदभार सम्भालने के लिए कल रात नई दिल्ली पहुंची। इससे पहले वे वाशिंगटन में विदेश सेवा की महानिदेशक और मानव संसाधन निदेशक के रूप में काम कर रही थी। सुश्री पावेल भारत में, राष्ट्रपति ओबामा प्रशासन की दूसरी प्रतिनिधि होंगी। उनसे पहले नियुक्त राजदूत टिमोथी जे रोमर ने पिछले साल अप्रैल में इस्तीफा देने की घोषणा की थी। उसके बाद पीटर बर्लिग कार्यभार संभाले हुए थे। सुश्री पावेल १९९२ से १९९५ तक कोलकाता में अमरीकन कन्सुलेट और नई दिल्ली में अमरीकी दूतावास में राजनयिक के रूप में काम कर चुकी हैं।कार्यभार संभालने से पहले श्री पावेल ने कहा कि उनको सौंपे गये कार्यों में से दोनों देशों के साथ व्यापार और रक्षा मामलों को बढ़ाने में सहयोग करना उनकी प्राथमिकता होगी।

अफगानिस्तान में नैटो के नेतृत्व वाली अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सेना का एक हैलीकॉप्टर कल रात देच्च के दक्षिणी भाग में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सेना की विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार दुर्घटनास्थल की घेराबंदी कर ली गयी है और कारणों का पता लगाया जा रहा है। खबरों में बताया गया है कि हैलीकाप्टर में चार लोग सवार थे। लेकिन उनके बारे में फिलहाल कोई सूचना नहीं है।----
पुर्तगाल की सरकार ने भारत से कहा है कि अपराधी अबू सलेम की पुर्तगाल वापसी में उसकी कोई दिलचस्पी नहीं है। पुर्तगाल के अधिकारियों ने भारतीय दल को यह सूचना दी। इससे पहले भारतीय दल ने न्याय मंत्रालय, महाधिवक्ता कार्यालय और विदेश कार्यालय के अधिकारियों के साथ विचार विमर्श किया था। लेकिन पुर्तगाल के अधिकारियों ने भारत सरकार से फिर आश्वासन मांगा है कि अबू सलेम को मौत या २५ साल से अधिक कारावास की सजा नहीं दी जाएगी।----

Inaugurating the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Assam Assembly today at Guwahati he said this reality has been understood by all sections of society.
Legislative assembly is a temple of our democracy. It is a sacred place for us to reaffirm our Constitutional commitment to pluralism, to human rights, to secularism and to the dignity of every citizen.
Dr. Singh appealed the insurgent groups to come forward for talks to create a conducive atmosphere for accelerating the pace of development in Assam.
There is a general realisation today that violence provides no answers and that diverse groups can fulfill their aspirations only through engagement in the democratic processes. This feeling has in no small measure resulted from the fact that the government of Assam is working for the people and for their all-round betterment.
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that the 750 Megawatt Bongaigaon power project would be completed in 2013. The Prime Minister complimented the Assam government for taking the state to new heights of development and hoped that Assam would be able to record a rate of growth of over 9 percent during the 12th Plan period.

Dr. Singh said the centre has taken new initiatives to strengthen relations with Bangladesh and Myanmar as part of its Look East policy.

In a move to help the ailing aviation sector of its immediate financing concerns, the Government has allowed the aviation sector to raise one billion dollars to manage its working capital through External Commercial Borrowing, ECB route, However, the limit for individual companies has been fixed at 300 million dollars. The ECB window to the civil aviation sector would be available for one year only. An ECB is an instrument used in India to facilitate the access to foreign money by Indian corporations and PSUs. ECBs include loans, buyers' credit, suppliers' credit, securitised instruments such as notes and fixed rate bonds.
According to a statement issued by the Finance Ministry, this policy decision will provide an additional source of capital at low cost to the airline industry and help them tide over their present financial crunch. The Reserve Bank of India is expected to issue relevant circular or notification giving effect to the aforesaid Budget announcement within a week.
The official release said that the rapid growth of the aviation sector in India has generated demand for additional finance for working capital and capacity expansion. High operating costs, particularly on account of high fuel costs, have put additional stress on the airline industry.
Our correspondent reports that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had promised in his budget speech that companies in the aviation sector would be allowed to avail themselves of ECBs for one year for working capital or refinancing of outstanding working capital rupee loans. The policy decision is likely to help cash-strapped private carriers, like Kingfisher to raise working capital from abroad. So far, airlines were allowed to raise foreign capital only for import of capital equipment like aircraft.

Rural Development Minister, Jairam Ramesh has urged the West Bengal government to speed up cast census in the state. In a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Mr. Ramesh has sought her personal intervention in this regard. He said about 15 per cent of the enumeration of blocks covering about 18 per cent of the population have been covered under the census till now.

The Government has said that it is taking all necessary steps to deal with the problem of unemployment among youth by promoting several new initiatives and schemes in the country. Addressing a function in New Delhi today, Labour and Employment minister Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge said besides this, Centre is also implementing various skill development programmes and increased investment to train the youth.
Mr Kharge maintained that despite the impact of global economic slowdown in 2007-08, India's growth in employment sector was good. The minister sought co-operation from States to pursue more employment for the youth. He underlined the need for modernization and up gradation of skill development programmes in the country.
Mr Kharge also stressed the need to educate the youth in advance manner to meet the growing demand of the industry. Earlier talking about the violation of labour laws in Special Economic Zones, Mr Kharge reaffirmed that his ministry will not tolerate any violation.

The government has approved 22 Foreign Direct Investment, FDI, Proposals amounting to over 586 Crore rupees. The proposals have been approved on the recommendations of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board. According to an official release issued in New Delhi today, these include proposals from Electronics and Information Technology, Steel, Health and family welfare, Defence production, higher education, Information and Broadcasting and Telecommunication sectors.

The Odisha Government today said it will not bow down to the pressure of Maoists for release of abducted Biju Janata Dal MLA Jhina Hikaka. Odisha Home Secretary, Upendra Nath Behera, told our correspondent that the government is ready to withdraw prosecution against 13 persons including five Maoists presently lodged in different jails.
Besides, he said the government has already assured the Maoists to release 25 of the 29 prisoners on bail. He said seven members of the Maoist-backed Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha had applied for bail with five being granted it. Behera,however, rejected demand of the Maoists to withdraw prosecution against all the 29 prisoners. Meanwhile, the Andhra Odisha Border Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoist) have extended the deadline for fulfilling their demands for releasing the abducted MLA.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court today cancelled the bail granted to Vijay Saireddy in the disproportionate assets case against Kadapa Lok Sabha Member Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Vijay Saireddy is the second accused in the case and a CBI special court in Hyderabad granted bail about a week ago. The high Court has cancelled the bail today while hearing a petition filed by CBI challenging the special court’s decision. Justice Bhanu asked the CBI court to give another hearing to the bail petition. Vijay Saireddy, auditor of Jagnamohan Reddy’s companies was arrested first in the first week of January this year in the illegal assets case.

Supreme Court today stayed proceedings against suspended Gujarat IPS Officer, Sanjiv Bhatt in K.D.Pant case. The Apex court stayed the proceedings till 15th of July. Sanjiv Bhatt was arrested by Gujarat Police in September 2011 for allegedly forcing police Constable K.D.Pant to file a false affidavit against the Chief Minister.

Supreme Court's appointed Central Empowered Committee, CEC has recommended a CBI probe against former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S Yeddyurappa for his alleged role in the mining scam. The high power committee said there are gross irregularities in allotments of mining leases by the former Chief Minister and his relatives. The panel has recommended that CBI may probe money transfer to Trusts run by former Chief Minister's family members. The high level committee headed by P.V.Jayakrishnan submitted its report to the Chief Justice of India, Justice S.H.Kapadia.

A fast track court in Chennai today awarded life sentence to retired Army Colonel Ramaraj in the Dilshan murder case. The Judge also imposed sixty thousand Rupees fine. Delivering the verdict , the Fast Track Court Judge Radha said the prosecution has proved the case beyond any doubt. It may be recalled that thirteen year old Dilshan was shot dead on 3rd July last year when he entered the high security army residential quarters by scaling the compound wall to pluck some fruits.

The Government is planning to set up 14 innovation universities to establish global benchmarks for excellence in higher education and build an ecosystem of innovations and research. The Human Resource Development Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal said this while delivering the inaugural address of the India-UK Round Table on Innovation in New Delhi today.
Mr. Sibal said that these universities will be autonomous in designing their own knowledge disciplines, admission criteria, academic programmes and merit system. He said these universities will have to work to attain highest standards of quality and provide manpower in the form of professionals and scientists needed to support the National Innovation Council. Besides this, cluster innovation centres are also being planned in this area. The Minister sought collaboration from UK in both the proposed innovation universities and clusters.
Mr. Sibal underlined the need for private investment in higher educational institutes to encourage innovations. He said that the period between 2010 and 2020 has been declared as the 'decade of innovation' to contribute towards realising the Vision of India as an Innovation Hot Spot.

In West Bengal, about 100 shops were gutted in a major fire at Chak Bazar in Darjeeling. Official sources said, 8 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flame late last night. Mr. Jaswant Sinha, MP from Darjeeling has announced compensation of 50 lakh rupees from his local area Development fund to help the victims.

The United States and France have taken a tough line against the Syrian government at a meeting in Paris although they stopped short of urging for military action. The American Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton was present at the meeting. According to a report from New York, Mrs. Hillary Clinton said the UN should impose an arms embargo and other sanctions against Syria if the government fails to abide by the ceasefire. That was the toughest proposal made at a meeting hosted by France to discuss ways of putting pressure on the regime. But it reflected frustration at the continued violence.
There is virtually no chance that Russia and China would agree to such measures. They do, however, support an expanded UN Observer mission to monitor the ceasefire. The UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki Moon, urged the Security Council to authorise it quickly.

Nigerian police say gunmen suspected to be members of the militant Muslim group Boko Haram have shot dead seven people in different attacks in the north of the country. A spokesman for Bomo State police said the attackers first killed a customs officer and a man selling drinking water in a street. Later they attacked a bakery in the city of Maiduguri, killing five employees.

Reports from Senegal say the ousted President of Mali, Amadou Toumani Toure has left his country and is expected to go to Senegalese capital, Dakar. Senegal revealed earlier this week that Mr. Toure, who was toppled in a military coup last month, had taken refuge in its Embassy in the Malian capital, Bamako. Meanwhile, the Military in Mali has released 22 political and army officials who were detained earlier this week.

According to the ISAF press release the crash site has been secured and the cause is under investigation. Media reports say there were four persons aboard the helicopter. The President of Myanmar, Thein Sein, has arrived in Japan. This is the first visit to Japan by a Myanmar Head of State in almost three decades. Reforms have been underway in Myanmar since elections in November 2010 brought a transition from military to a nominally civilian government. President Thein Sein will hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister, Yoshihiko Noda. The two leaders will discuss a solution to Myanmar's debt to Japan and open the way for Tokyo to resume financing for much needed infrastructure. Japanese companies are also keen to invest in Myanmar which is rich in resources.

In Nepal, three thousand and one hundred and twenty-nine former Maoist combatants have chosen integration with Nepal Army. The second round of the regrouping process , conducted by the Army Integration Special Committee has concluded in all the seven cantonments. According to the seven point deal, between the main political parties, 6500 were to be integrated in the national army.
In the first phase of the regrouping process carried out in November last year, 9,705 former maoist combatants had chosen to be integrated into the army. However in the second phase, where the option was given once again 6,576 have opted for the voluntary retirement scheme.

US Ambassador designate to India Nancy Powell arrived New Delhi last night to take charge of the high profile office in this country. The First woman Ambassador of her country has been working as the Director General of the Foreign Service and Director of Human Resources in Washington before she was designated for India. She will be the second representative of the Obama Administration in India. Her predecessor Timothy J Roemer had announced his resignation in April last year.
Since then Mr Peter Bureligh had been holding the charge. Earlier, Ms Powell had served in the American Consulate in Kolkata and the US Embassy in New Delhi as a diplomat from 1992 to 1995. Before embarking for India, she had said some of her priorities in her new assignment would be expansion of trade and defence ties with India.

The International Monetary Fund has hit a roadblock as it seeks to double its resources, with Brazil demanding more power for emerging economies as a condition for lending extra cash. IMF Chief, Christine Lagarde, wants the Fund's power boosted to 800 billion US dollars. As the IMF and World Bank hold their biannual meetings in Washington, Brazilian Finance Minister Guido Mantega laid out the terms for a deal after a meeting with representatives from the BRICS group of top emerging economies - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The IMF had already rolled back its earlier target of 500 billion US dollars after the United States confirmed it would not contribute, so support from China, Russia and Brazil is critical.

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange fell 20 points, or 0.1 percent, to 17,484 in morning trade, today, on mild profit- booking by investors, amid weak global bourses. पाकिस्तान का एक यात्री विमान आज इस्लामाबाद अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे के पास खराब मौसम के कारण दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया। विमान पर चालक दल सहित एक सौ सत्ताईस यात्री सवार थे। विमान कराची से इस्लामाबाद जा रहा था। आपात दल दुर्घटनास्थल की ओर रवाना हो गया है। पाकिस्तान के रक्षामंत्री चौधरी अहमद मुखार ने बताया कि हवाई अड्डे से कुछ मील दूर गिरने से पहले विमान में आग लग गई थी।

अफगानिस्तान के दक्षिणी हेलमंड प्रांत में गर्मच्चीर जिले में कल रात दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हुए हैलीकॉप्टर में सवार सभी चार सैनिकों के मारे जाने की आच्चंका है। खबरों में एक स्थानीय अधिकारी के हवाले से बताया गया है कि दुर्घटनाग्रस्त ब्लैक हॉक हैलीकाप्टर एक पुलिस चौकी पर हुए आत्मघाती हमले के बाद बचाव अभियान पर जा रहा था और इलाके में खराब मौसम की वजह से यह दुर्घटना हुई। अभी यह स्पष्ट नहीं है कि मारे गये लोग नैटो सैनिक थे या अफगान सुरक्षाकर्मी।-----
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा है कि बेहतर शिक्षा, सेवा, बुनियादी ढांचा और संपर्क सुविधा पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्रों के तेजी से विकास की कुंजी है। आज दिसपुर में असम विधानसभा के प्लेटीनम जुबली समारोह को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि असम में पिछले एक दशक में आर्थिक और सामाजिक विकास में तेजी आई है।उग्रवादी गुटों से बातचीत की अपील करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि यह आम धारणा है कि हिंसा से किसी भी समस्या का हल नहीं हो सकता। विभिन्न गुट अपनी आकांक्षाओं को केवल लोकतांत्रिक तरीके से ही पूरा कर सकते हैं। उन्होंने लोकतांत्रिक प्रक्रिया से बाहर रहने वाले उग्रवादी गुटों से असम के लोगों की लोकतांत्रिक भावनाओं को समझने का अनुरोध किया।
असम में विकास की नई लहर सामाजिक शांति और राजनीतिक स्थिरता के बड़े दौर के कारण संभव हो पाया है। आज सामान्य तौर पर लोग समझ गए हैं कि हिंसा से कोई हल नहीं निकलता। विभिन्न समूह अपनी अकांक्षाओं को केवल लोकतंत्र के साथ जुड़ कर ही पूरा कर सकते हैं।
प्रधानमंत्री ने उग्रवादियों से आगे आकर राज्य के सामाजिक तथा आर्थिक विकास के लिए उपयुक्त वातावरण तैयार करने में मदद की अपील की। उन्होंने आशा व्यक्त की कि असम १२वीं पंचवर्षीय योजना के दौरान नौ प्रतिशत से अधिक वृद्धि दर हासिल कर सकेगा।
मैं १२वीं पंचवर्षीय योजना के दौरान असम को पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र और पूरे देश के विकास के इंजन के रूप में पूरी तरह से विकसित होते देखना चाहता हूं। मुझे पूरा भरोसा है कि १२वीं योजना के दौरान असम नौ प्रतिशत की विकास दर को छू लेगा। मैं असम की जनता को भरोसा दिलाना चाहता हूं कि इस लक्ष्य को पाने में केन्द्र सरकार उन्हें हर संभव सहायता देगी।
डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि आसियान देशों के साथ व्यापार तथा आर्थिक सहयोग बढ़ाने के उद्देश्य से केंद्र ने बंगलादेश और म्यामां से संबंध मजबूत करने के लिए कई कदम उठाए हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि इन प्रयासों से असम सहित पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र के राज्यों को फायदा होगा।

वित्तमंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने कर आधार को बचाने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र आर्थिक सहयोग और विकास संगठन में ब्रिक्स के देशों द्वारा साझा रुख अपनाने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया है। वे आज वॉशिंग्टन में ब्रिक्स देशों - भारत, ब्राजील, रूस, चीन और दक्षिणी अफ्रीका के वित्तमंत्रियों की बैठक में अपने शुरुआती भाषण दे रहे थे। उन्होंने विकासशील देशों और उभरती अर्थव्यवस्थाओं के कर आधार को समाप्त होने से रोकने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया।

उच्चतम न्यायालय द्वारा नियुक्त उच्च अधिकार प्राप्त समिति ने कर्नाटक के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री बी एस येदियुरप्पा के खिलाफ खनन घोटाले में उनकी कथित भूमिका को लेकर सीबीआई से जांच की सिफारिश की है। उच्च अधिकार प्राप्त समिति ने कहा है कि पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और उनके संबंधियों को खनन के ठेके दिए जाने में बहुत अनियमितताएं हुईं। इस समिति ने सिफारिश की है कि पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री के परिवार के सदस्यों द्वारा चलाए जा रहे ट्रस्टों को पैसा दिए जाने की सीबीआई जांच कर सकती है। पी वी जयकृष्णन की अध्यक्षता वाली इस समिति ने भारत के प्रधान न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति एच एस कापड़िया को अपनी रिपोर्ट दी है।-----
चेन्नई की एक फास्ट ट्रैक अदालत ने आज सनसनीखेज दिलशान हत्या मामले में अवकाश प्राप्त कर्नल रामराज को उम्र कैद और साठ हजार रूपये जुर्माने की सजा सुनाई है। खचाखच भरी पांचवीं फास्ट ट्रैक अदालत की जज राधा ने फैसला सुनाते हुए कहा कि अभियोजन पक्ष द्वारा आरोप साबित करने के बाद इस मामले में कोई संदेह नहीं रह गया है। १३ वर्षीय दिलशान को पिछले वर्ष तीन जुलाई को उस समय गोली मार दी गई थी जब वह उच्च सुरक्षा वाले सेना के आवासीय परिसर में दीवार फांद कर फल तोड़ने चला गया था।

असम में सुरक्षा बलों ने कार्बी पीपुल्स लिब्रेशन टाइगर- के पांच उग्रवादियों को मार गिराया है। ये उग्रवादी कार्बी आंगलाँग पर्वतीय जिले में बोरपाथर पुलिस थाना अंतर्गत बोरपुंग-तारापुंग इलाके में एक मुठभेड़ में मारे गए। सुरक्षाबलों ने जंगल इलाके में उग्रवादियों के एक शिविर को भी नष्ट कर दिया। उनके पास से एक ए.के.-४७ राइफल और एक पिस्तौल मिली है। जिले के पुलिस अधीक्षक और अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी स्थिति का जायजा लेने घटनास्थल पर पहुंच गए हैं।

छत्तीसगढ़ के बीजापुर जिले में माडेड पुलिस थाना क्षेत्र के तेगदापल्ली के पास आज दोपहर बाद एक शक्तिशाली बारूदी सुरंग के विस्फोट में तीन लोगों की मौत हो गई तथा एक घायल हो गया। पुलिस ने बताया है कि जिलाधिकारी और स्थानीय विधायक सहित अधिकारियों का एक दल ग्राम स्वराज अभियान के तहत एक कार्यक्रम से लौट रहा था, तभी नक्सलियों ने उनके काफिले को निशाना बनाकर बारूदी सुरंग का विस्फोट कर दिया। जिला अधिकारी और विधायक को कोई चोट नहीं आई है। अतिरिक्त पुलिस बल घटनास्थल की ओर भेज दिया गया है।-----

सरकार उच्च शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्टता के वैश्विक मानदंड स्थापित करने और नवीन अनुसंधान व्यवस्था कायम करने के लिए १४ नवाचार विश्वविद्यालय बनाने की योजना बना रही है। मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल ने आज नई दिल्ली में नवाचार के बारे में भारत-ब्रिटेन गोलमेज सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन करते हुए यह जानकारी दी। श्री सिब्बल ने कहा कि इन विश्वविद्यालयों को अपने विषय चुनने, प्रवेश के नियम, शैक्षिक कार्यक्रम और मैरिट व्यवस्था तय करने की स्वतंत्रता होगी। इसके अलावा इस क्षेत्र में सामूहिक नवाचार केन्द्र बनाने का भी प्रस्ताव है।मुझे पूरी उम्मीद है कि विपक्ष सहयोग देगा और मुझे पूरी उम्मीद है कि जो भी हमारे बिल्स पेंडिंग है वो पास होंगे। क्योंकि मुझे मानना है कि सभी लोग विपक्ष में हो या सत्ता पक्ष में हो सभी चाहते है कि बच्चों का भविष्य उज्जवल होना चाहिए और जो भी हम काम कर रहे हैं, बच्चों के भविष्य के संदर्भ में उसको पारित करना है।

118 people are reported killed in a Pakistani airliner crash near Chaklala near Islamabad International Airport. Media reports say, the plane was carrying carrying 127 passengers and crew members. Bhoja Air plane, flight BHO-213, flying from Karachi to Islamabad crashed due to bad weather. Emergency teams are on their way to the crash site, near Baria Town residential complex near Rawalpindi. Pakistan's Defense Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhar said the plane burst into flames before it came down a few miles from the airport. Emergency has been declared in all hospitals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The Prime Minister has said that the key to development in the north-eastern region is better educational and services infrastructure and connectivity. Dr Manmohan Singh was addressing the Platinum jubilee of the Assam Legislative Assembly at Dispur today.
The Key to development in the north eastern region is infrastructure. We need better educational and services infrastructure. We need better transport connectivity. As connectivity improves and capabilities expand, so will commerce and employment opportunities.
While appealing to the militant groups for negotiations, Dr. Singh said there is a general realisation today that violence provides no answers and that diverse group can fulfill their aspirations only through engagement in the democratic processes.
I am sure the insurgent groups that continue to remain outside the democratic process will understand the sentiments of the people of Assam and come forward to create an atmosphere that is conducive for accelerating the pace of social and economic development in this great beautiful state of republic.
The Prime Minister said the Centre has taken new initiatives to strengthen relations with Bangladesh and Myanmar with a view to increase opportunities for expansion of trade, economic cooperation and connectivity to the larger ASEAN region. He said Assam and the other states of the North East are likely to benefit largely from this effort.
Earlier, after his arrival at Guwahati, the Prime Minister inaugurated Revitalization project phase -IV and Linear Accelerator Machine with advanced add-on technology for treatment of Cancer patients at B.Barooah Cancer Institute. He also met the Assam Cabinet members at a meeting at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati to take stock of the development projects being taken up in the State before leaving for New Delhi.

In Assam, five Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger militants have been gunned down by security forces during an encounter at Borpung-Tarapung area under Borpathar Police Station in Karbi Anglong hill district this afternoon. The deceased militants included its self-styled General Secretary-cum-publicity secretary Nilip Ingti. Security forces also destroyed a camp of the militants in the jungle of the area.

District Superintendent of Police said a cache of firearms and huge quantity of arms were recovered from their possession. With this, the total number of districts declared as maoists infested has gone up to 23.

The Odisha Government today said it will not bow to the pressure of Maoists for the release of the abducted Biju Janata Dal MLA Jhina Hikaka. Odisha Home Secretary, Upendra Nath Behera, told our correspondent that the government is ready to withdraw prosecution against 13 persons including five Maoists presently lodged in different jails.
Besides, he said the government has already assured the Maoists that 25 of the 29 prisoners will be released on bail. He said seven members of the Maoist-backed Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha had applied for bail with five being granted it. Behera,however, rejected demand of the Maoists to withdraw prosecution against all the 29 prisoners. Meanwhile, the Andhra Odisha Border Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoist) have extended the deadline for fulfilling their demands for releasing the abducted MLA.

Supreme Court's appointed Central Empowered Committee, CEC has recommended a CBI probe against former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S Yeddyurappa for his alleged role in the mining scam. The high power committee said there are gross irregularities in allotments of mining leases by the former Chief Minister and his relatives. The panel has recommended that CBI may probe money transfer to Trusts run by former Chief Minister's family members.

A fast track court in Chennai today awarded life sentence to retired Army Officer Mr.Ramarajan in Dilshan murder case. The Judge also imposed a fine of sixty thousand rupees on him. Delivering the verdict , the Fast Track Court Judge said the prosecution has proved the case beyond any doubt. It may be recalled that thirteen year old Dilshan was shot dead on 3rd July last year when he entered the high security army residential quarters by scaling the compound wall to pluck some fruits.

The Central Bureau of Investigation - CBI has registered a case of ‘horse trading’ in connection with Rajya Sabha poll held on 30th March in Jharkhand. The election was later countermanded, and a re-election is to take place on 3rd of next month. The CBI has named three persons as accused in the FIR.
Our Correspondent reports that the case of horse trading in the Rajya Sabha poll was transferred to the CBI by the state Chief Minister Arjun Munda after the Jharkhand High Court passed an order. The High Court has also asked the state government to investigate the allegation of ‘horse trading’ during 2010 Rajya Sabha election in Jharkhand in which Dheeraj Sahu of Congress and K D Singh of the JMM were elected. Mr. Singh later switched to the Trinamool Congress.

The Finance minister has stressed the need for a common approach by Brazil, Russia,India,China and South Africa, BRICS countries at United Nations and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD to protect the tax base. In his opening remarks, at the BRICS Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Washington today, Mr Pranab Mukherjee also stressed the need to prevent the erosion of tax base of developing countries and emerging economies.

In Nepal, the three main parties have intensified talks to resolve the issues in the constitution drafting process. The UCPN ( Maoist ) and Nepali Congress today held bilateral meeting in Kathmandu as part of the attempt to forge an understanding on crucial issues to pave the way for the promulgation of the constitution by May 27th.

Though leaders say that talks are positive there are major issues to be resolved on state restructuring and forms of governance. Meanwhile , Madhesi lawmakers cutting across party lines have formed a common front to put pressure on their demands while, the Jananjati , lawmakers have said a seven province federal set-up is not acceptable and want fourteen states. South Sudan says it will pull its armed forces (SPLA) out of the contested Heglig oil region within three days.The announcement was made by a government spokesman today. However South Sudan's Information Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin said that South Sudan wants the status of Heglig to be determined by international arbitration. Both the countries claim Heglig as their own since separation in July last.

In Andhra Pradesh, production began in the first uranium mining and processing plant at Thummalapalli in YSR District this morning. Speaking after commissioning the plant this morning, Atomic Energy Department Secretary SriKumar Benarjee said nuclear power generation in the country will reach 60 thousand megawatts by the year 2050. Stating that the uranium processed in Thummalapalli is of the best quality available in the world, Mr Benarjee said local people will be benefited by getting employment opportunities in the plant.

Scientists say the noto`riously dry continent of Africa is sitting on a vast reservoir of groundwater. They argue that the total volume of water in aquifers underground is 100 times the amount found on the surface. Scientists have for the first time been able to carry out a continent-wide analysis of the water that is hidden under the surface in aquifers.
The researchers say their new maps indicate that many countries currently designated as "water scarce" have substantial groundwater reserves. Writing in the journal Environmental Research Letters, the scientists are cautious about the best way of accessing these hidden resources.
