केन्द्र ने राष्ट्रीय आतंकवाद निरोधक केन्द्र पर बहस का स्वागत किया है। अपने मंत्रालय का रिपोर्ट कार्ड पेश करते हुए गृहमंत्री पी चिदम्बरम ने कहा कि उन्हें खुशी है कि इस बारे में स्वस्थ बहस हो रही है और राज्यों द्वारा उठाई गयी चिंताओं पर गौर किया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि बहस संविधान तथा मौजूदा कानूनों और नियमों पर आधारित होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि अगले महीने की १६ तारीख को होने वाली मुख्यमंत्रियों बैठक एक वार्षिक प्रक्रिया है। पिछली बैठक चुनावों के कारण स्थगित करनी पड़ी थी। गृहमंत्री चिदम्बरम ने कहा कि इस बैठक में एजेंडा में शामिल सभी मुद्दों पर चर्चा होगी। उन्होंने आशा व्यक्त की कि सभी सम्बद्ध पक्षों के बीच आम सहमति बनेगी।बाइट चिदम्बरम
मैं समझता हू कि पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ने प्रधानमंत्री को लिखा है और प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय उस पत्र की एक प्रति मुझे भेज रहा है। मुझे उम्मीद है कि या तो प्रधानमंत्री या मैं उनको उपयुक्त तरीके से जवाब देंगे। अब एनसीटीसी मामले पर बहस करने के लिए समुचित समय देने के मुख्यमंत्री के अनुरोध को किस तरह पूरा किया जाए, इस मुद्दे का समाधान एक दो दिन में हो जाएगा।
ओड़ीशा में माओवादियों द्वारा बनाए गए दो बंधकों के बारे में गृह मंत्री ने कहा कि उन्होंने मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक से बातचीत की है और उन्हें हर तरह की सहायता की पेशकश की है। उन्होंने कहा कि केन्द्र, राज्य सरकार के साथ लगातार सम्पर्क में है और खुफिया सूचनाओं का नियमित रूप से आदान-प्रदान हो रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि माओवादियों के साथ बातचीत के दरवाजे खुले हैं, सिर्फ एक शर्त है कि जब बातचीत चल रही हो, तो कोई हिंसा नहीं होनी चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि दो लोग अब भी उनके कब्जे में हैं तथा ओड़ीशा सरकार ने माओवादियों से बातचीत करने के लिए वार्ताकार नियुक्ति करके सही किया है।
तेलंगाना के बारे में मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि इस मुद्दे पर फैसला करने की मांग हो रही है और केन्द्र ने चार राजनीतिक दलों से जल्दी ही अपना फैसला करने का अनुरोध किया है। उन्होंने उम्मीद जहिर की कि ये चारों राजनीतिक दल जल्दी ही कोई निर्णय ले लेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि केन्द्र इन चार राजनीतिक दलों के सहमत होने का संकेत मिलते ही आठ राजनीतिक दलों की बैठक बुलाने को तैयार हैं। तेलंगाना के मुद्दे पर आत्महत्याओं के बारे में श्री चिदम्बरम ने कहा कि यह बहुत ही खेदजनक है।

आल इंडिया अन्ना डीएमके प्रमुख और तमिलनाडु की मुख्यमंत्री जे.जयललिता ने अपनी करीबी सहयोगी शशिकला का पार्टी की प्राथमिक सदस्यता से निलंबन रद्द कर दिया है। चेन्नई में एक वक्तव्य में सुश्री जयललिता ने कहा कि उन्होंने शशिकला का स्पष्टीकरण स्वीकार कर लिया है जिसमें उन्होंने कहा है कि उन्होंने अपने उन रिश्तेदारों से संबंध तोड़ लिए हैं, जिनके कारण पार्टी की छवि खराब हुई। सुश्री जयललिता ने कहा है कि शशिकला के पति एम.नटराजन और कुछ रिश्तेदारों का निलंबन जारी रहेगा।-----
झारखण्ड विधानसभा की कार्यवाही आज विपक्षी सदस्यों के शोरशराबे के कारण दिन में दो बजे तक स्थगित कर दी गई। विपक्षी सदस्य राज्यसभा चुनावों के लिए विधायकों की कथित खरीद-फरोख्त की सी बी आई से जांच की मांग कर रहे थे। आज जैसे ही सदन की बैठक शुरू हुई, सभी विपक्षी सदस्य, विधायकों की खरीद-फरोख्त के खिलाफ नारे लगाते हुए सदन के बीचों-बीच आ गए। वे मामले की सी बी आई से जांच की मांग कर रहे थे। अध्यक्ष सी पी सिंह ने सदस्यों से शांत रहने का बार-बार अनुरोध किया, लेकिन शोर-शराबा जारी रहने के कारण कार्यवाही दो बजे तक स्थगित कर दी गई।निर्वाचन आयोग ने कल रात झारखण्ड में राज्यसभा चुनाव के लिए विधायकों की खरीद-फरोख्त के आरोपों और दो करोड़ रूपये से अधिक की नकद राशि बरामद होने के मद्देनजर राज्यसभा चुनाव रद्द कर दिए थे।
झारखण्ड में सत्तारूढ़ गठबंधन के सहयोगी दल भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने निर्वाचन आयोग के फैसले को जल्दीबाजी में उठाया गया कदम बताया है। विपक्षी झारखंड विकास मोर्चा ने निर्वाचन आयोग के फैसले का स्वागत किया है और मामले की सी बी आई से जांच की मांग की है। कांग्रेस पार्टी ने इस मुद्दे पर कोई टिप्पणी करने से इंकार कर दिया।

भारत में पांच साल से कम उम्र के शिशुओं की मृत्यु दर में रिकॉर्ड कमी आई है। हालांकि पॉंच साल कम उम्र की लड़कियों की मृत्युदर अब भी ज्यादा है। भारत के महा पंजीयक की ताजा रिपोर्ट में बताया गया है कि देश में २००९ में पॉंच साल से कम उम्र के १६ लाख, ८३ हजार बच्चों की मौत हुई जबकि २०१० में यह संख्या कम होकर १५ लाख, ४१ हजार हो गई। आंकड़ों के अनुसार २०१० में पॉंच साल से कम उम्र के प्रति एक हजार लड़कों पर ५५ की मृत्यु दर्ज की गई जबकि लड़कियों में यह दर प्रति एक हजार पर ६४ थी। शहरों की तुलना में ग्रामीण इलाकों में शिशु मृत्यु दर ऊंची है।-----
एयर इंडिया की नाजुक वित्तीय स्थिति को मजबूत करने के लिए बैंकों के एक समूह ने एयर इंडिया वित्तीय पुनसर्ंरचना योजना - एफआरपी मंजूर की है। इससे एयर इंडिया को पहले वर्ष में ही कई सौ करोड़ रूपये बचाना संभव हो पाएगा। एयर इंडिया के अधिकारियों के अनुसार इस योजना के तहत एयर इंडिया ने कल शाम नयी दिल्ली में स्टेट बैंक के नेतृत्व वाले बैंक समूह के साथ चार समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किए। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल द्वारा एयर इंडिया को और धन दिये जाने की मंजूरी के बाद एफ आर पी को लागू करना शुरू किया जाएगा।-----
टू जी स्पैक्ट्रम घोटाले में आरोपित एस.आर ग्रुप और लूप टेलीकॉम के प्रमोटर आज दिल्ली की एक अदालत में पेश हुए। एस.आर ग्रुप के प्रमोटर रवि और अशुंमन रूइया तथा लूप टेलीकॉम के प्रमोटर आई. पी खेतान और किरण खेतान ने सी बी आई के विशेष जज ओ.पी. सैनी की अदालत में पेश होने के बाद जमानत याचिकाएं दी। अदालत ने इन याचिकाओं पर सुनवाई के लिए २१ अप्रैल की तारीख निर्धारित की है। -----
भारत सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी के क्षेत्र में आउट सोर्सिंग सेवाएं उपलब्ध कराने वाले देशों में अपना प्रमुख स्थान बनाए हुए है। २०११ में ५८ प्रतिशत आउट सोर्सिंग सेवाएं उपलब्ध कराई गयीं जबकि इसके पिछले वर्ष ५५ प्रतिशत ऐसी सेवाएं उपलब्ध कराई गईं थीं। संचार राज्यमंत्री सचिन पायलट ने राज्यसभा में लिखित उत्तर में बताया कि ग्राहकों के हितों के अनुकूल उद्योग अनुभव, प्रतिभा और बेहतर रिकॉर्ड के कारण आउट सोर्सिंग सेवाओं के लिए भारत को प्राथमिकता दी जाती है। -----
अर्जेन्टीना के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति कार्लोस मेनेम पर ब्यूनस आयरस के एक यहूदी सांस्कृतिक केन्द्र में हुए विस्फोट के सिलसिले में जांच की प्रक्रिया में कथित रूप से बाधा पहुंचाने के आरोप में मुकदमा चलाया जाएगा। इस धमाके में ८५ लोग मारे गये थे। अर्जेन्टीना ने १९९४ में हुए इस हमले के लिए लेबनान के कट्टरपंथी गुट हिजबुल्लाह को जिम्मेदार ठहराया था। लेकिन अभियोजकों का आरोप है कि स्थानीय लोगों का इसमें हाथ होने के सबूतों को छिपाने का प्रयास किया गया था।इक्यासी वर्षीय श्री मेनेम १९८९ से १९९९ तक अर्जेन्टीना के राष्ट्रपति रहे। इस समय वे ब्यूनस आयरस में संसद में सिनेटर हैं।

अमरीकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा ने ईरान के तेल क्षेत्र के खिलाफ नए प्रतिबंधों की मंजूरी दे दी है। उनका कहना है कि विश्व के बाजारों में पर्याप्त तेल उपलब्ध है और इससे उपभोक्ताओं पर कोई असर नहीं पड़ेगा। हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति के इस फैसले से ईरान पर काफी असर पड़ सकता है। अमरीकी कानून के तहत तीस मार्च तक और फिर हर छह महीने राष्ट्रपति ओबामा को ये तय करना है कि तेल की आपूर्ति और कीमतें नियंत्रण में हैं, जिससे ईरान पर आर्थिक प्रतिबंधों का दायरा बढ़ाया जा सके। इसी नियम के तहत जो देश या बैंक ईरान से तेल की सप्लाई लेते हैं, या फिर कारोबार के लिए भुगतान करते हैं, उन्हें अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बैंकिंग नैटवर्क से अलग-थलग कर दिया जाएगा। यानि उन्हें ईरान से तेल लेना या फिर अमरीका से कारोबार दो में से एक को चुनना होगा। साथ ही अमरीका ने जापान से दस यूरोपीय देशों को प्रतिबंधों से छूट दे रखी है, क्योंकि उन्होंने ईरान से तेल के आयात में कटौती की है। चीन और भारत ईरान के तेल के सबसे बड़े आयात करने वाले देशों में से हैं। तेल का व्यापार ईरान के ७० फीसदी राजस्व का हिस्सा है। जानकारों की राय में अमरीका के इस कदम से ईरान को अलग-थलग करने की कोशिश को तो बल मिलेगा ही, साथ ही उनकी अर्थव्यवस्था को पंगु बनाने की कोशिश के रूप में देखा जा रहा है। अतुल तिवारी आकाशवाणी समाचार।

सीरिया में विपक्षी कार्यकर्ताओं ने होम्स, इदीब और दरा में सैनिकों द्वारा फिर से गोलीबारी करने की खबर दी है। सीरिया के मानव अधिकार प्रेक्षक दल ने खबर दी है कि कल दस लोग मारे गये। संयुक्त राष्ट्र के विशेष दूत कोफी अन्नान ने राष्ट्रपति बशर अल रसद से आग्रह किया है कि वे तत्काल संघर्ष विराम करें। श्री अन्नान के प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि सीरिया सरकार को हिंसा रोकने के लिए पहले कदम उठाने चाहिएं, क्योंकि सरकारी पक्ष ज्यादा ताकतवर है।श्री अन्नान सोमवार को संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद में अपनी शांति योजना की प्रगति के बारे में जानकारी देंगे। राष्ट्रपति बशर अल असद ने उनकी छह सूत्री शांति योजना को सशर्त मंजूर कर लिया है। अमरीका की विदेशमंत्री हिलेरी क्लिंटन ने कल सउदी अरब के शाह अब्दुल्ला के साथ बातचीत की। तुर्की और कतर ने कल इस्तानबुल में सीरिया के मित्र समूह की दूसरी बैठक बुलाई है। रूस ने कहा है कि वह इस बैठक में भाग नहीं लेगा।

२०११ की हाथी गणना रिपोर्ट के अनुसार असम में पॉंच हजार, ६२० हाथी हैं। राज्य के वन विभाग की गणना के अनुसार राज्य में ३७४ हाथी बढ़ गये हैं। २००९ में असम में इनकी संख्या पॉंच हजार, २४६ थी। हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार रिपोर्ट में बताया गया है कि तीन हजार, ५४ हाथी राष्ट्रीय उद्यान और वन्य जीव अभ्यारण्य सहित २५ संरक्षित स्थलों में हैं जबकि दो हजार, ५१६ हाथी संरक्षित तथा ऐसे वनों में पाये गये हैं, जिन्हें संरक्षित करने का प्रस्ताव है।अपनी प्राकृतिक सुन्दरता और वन्य जीवों के लिए जाने जाने वाले असम में हाथियों की संख्या में वृद्धि दर्ज की गई है। प्रदेश के पांच हाथियों के लिए आरक्षित वनांचल में कुल चार हजार दो सौ ६७ हाथी पाये गये हैं, जिसमें से काजीरंगा, कार्बी आंगलोंग आरक्षित क्षेत्रों में सबसे ज्यादा एक हजार ६७५ हाथी हैं। दुनिया के दो धरोहर काजीरंगा और मानस उद्यान में अभ्यारण्यों और राष्ट्रीय उद्यानों में से हाथी की अवधि सबसे अधिक है। मानस उद्यान में सौ वर्ग किलोमीटर पर सबसे ज्यादा एक सौ नवासी हाथी पाये गये हैं। मानस प्रतिम शर्मा, आकाशवाणी समाचार, गुवाहाटी।

The Centre has welcomed the debate on the National Counter Terrorism Centre, NCTC. Speaking to reporters after presenting the report card of his ministry, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said he was glad that there is a healthy debate and the concerns raised by the states will be taken on board. He said, the debate will be based on the constitution and the existing laws and regulations. Home Minister Chidambaram assured that all issues on the agenda will be discussed and that there was hope of a consensus between all stake holders.
"I understand that the Chief Minister of West Bengal has written to the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister's Office is sending me a copy of letter. And I expect that either the Prime Minister or I, will reply to her suitably. Now How we will accommodate the request of the Chief Minister to devote a considerable amount of time to discussing the NCTC, subject is a matter that will be resolved in the next couple of days."
On the two hostages in Odisha, the Home minister said, he had spoken to the Chief Minister Navin Patnaik and offered any assistance that is needed. He said the Centre is closely in touch with the state government and intelligence is being shared regularly. He said, the doors are open for talks for the Maoists, and the only condition is that there should be no violence while the talks are on.
On Telengana, the Home minister expressed hope that the four political parties will soon make up their mind.

AIADMK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalitha has revoked the suspension of erstwhile close confidante Ms Sasikala from the primary membership of the party. In a statement issued in Chennai today. Ms. Jayalalithaa said she accepts the explanation given by Ms.Sasikala that she had severed links with her relatives, who by their activities had brought disrepute to the party.
However, Ms.Jayalalithaa said the suspension of Ms. Sasikala’s husband M. Natrajan and some of her relatives from the party would stay and urged party functionaries not to keep links with them.
Ms Jayalalithaa had on December 19 expelled Ms Sasikala and her family members and relatives from the primary membership of the party for allegedly interfering in the day to day affairs of the government.

Under-five mortality rate in the country has declined. However more females are dying even now before they reach their fifth birthday. Country's latest Sample Registration System data saysin 2010 15.41 lakh under-five deaths occured as compared to 16.83 lakh in 2009. The child mortality rate is much higher in rural than in urban India.
Assam recorded the highest overall under-five mortality rate followed by Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Bihar and Chhattisgarh. Kerala recorded the lowest overall under-five mortality rate of 15 followed by Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra , Delhi , Punjab and Karnataka.

India continues to retain its position as the world’s leader in the global outsourcing market of Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services (IT-ITES). It accounts for almost 58 per cent of global sourcing in 2011 as compared to 55 per cent previous year. Giving this information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha Minister of State for Communications Sachin Pilot said a number of countries like Philippines, China, Malaysia are steadily gaining momentum as destinations for IT-ITES investments.

In a big boost to its precarious financial position, Air India's Financial Restructuring Plan (FRP) has been approved by a consortium of banks. This may enable the ailing carrier save several hundred crore of rupees in the first year itself. According to airline officials, as part of the FRP, Air India signed four agreements with the SBI-led consortium in New Delhi late last evening. They said, implementation of the FRP would begin after the Union Cabinet approves additional equity infusion into the airline.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalithaa has urged the Prime Minister to allot the entire power generated from the Kudankulam nuclear power plant to the state. In a letter to Dr Manmohan Singh, she said of the 2000 MW of power to be generated by the two units in Kudankulam, the state has been allotted only 925 MW. Pointing that the state had requested for allocation of 1000 MW from the central pool, Ms. Jayalalithaa said only 100 MW has been allotted to the state.

In Bihar, power tariff has been hiked. Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission increased the existing tariff by 5 to 12 percent under various categories. The increased tariff will be effective from tomorrow. This move will fetch an additional revenue of over 348 crore rupees and bail out the state electricity board, which is in the red.

India and Germany have signed an agreement to finance clean energy for rural development projects. As per the agreement, KfW(German Development Bank) will provide a loan amount of 100.1 million Euros to Rural Electrification Corporation, REC, to support such projects in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The former President of Argentina, Carlos Menem, is to stand trial for allegedly obstructing an investigation into an attack on a Jewish cultural centre in Buenos Aires. Argentina blamed the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah for the 1994 bombing, which killed 85 people. But prosecutors say evidence indicating the involvement of local accomplices in the attack, was covered up. No-one has ever been convicted of the car bombing. The attack on the Argentine Jewish Mutual Association took place on 18 July, 1994, during Carlos Menem's first term in office as president. The bombing demolished the seven-storey cultural centre.

The Syrian Observatory of Human rights reported 10 deaths yesterday, in the ongoing violence . UN envoy Kofi Annan has urged President Bashar al-Assad to implement a ceasefire immediately. Annan's spokesman Ahmad Fawzi said in Geneva that, the Syrian government has to take the first step in stopping the violence, being the stronger party in the conflict.
Annan will brief the UN security Council on the progress of his peace plan on Monday. His six point peace plan calls for a UN supervised ceasefire, access to humanitarian services; and talks between the government and the opposition. Syrian President Bashar Al Assad has accepted the plan with the rider that it will work only if armed opponents stop terrorist activities.

Chinese President Hu Jintao today met Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni in Phnom Penh to discuss the development of all-round cooperation between the two countries. केन्द्र सरकार को उम्मीद है कि राष्ट्रीय आतंकवाद निरोधक केन्द्र पर बहस के लिए और समय की मांग का मामला एक-दो दिन में सुलझा लिया जाएगा।केन्द्रीय गृहमंत्री पी. चिदम्बरम ने बताया है कि पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने इस मुद्दे पर विचार के लिए पर्याप्त समय मांगा है। नई दिल्ली में अपने मंत्रालय का रिपोर्ट कार्ड पेश करते हुए उन्होंने बताया कि ममता बनर्जी ने इस मामले में पत्र लिखा है और या तो प्रधानमंत्री या वे खुद, इसका जवाब देंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि इस बारे में स्वस्थ बहस हो रही है और विभिन्न राज्यों द्वारा उठाई गयी चिंताओं पर विचार किया जाएगा।
गृहमंत्री ने कहा कि १६ अप्रैल को मुख्यमंत्रियों की होने वाली बैठक एक वार्षिक प्रक्रिया है। बैठक में इस केन्द्र के गठन, वर्तमान कानूनों तथा नियमों के बारे में बहस होगी और एजेंडा में शामिल सभी मुद्दों पर चर्चा होगी।
मैं समझता हूॅं कि पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ने प्रधानमंत्री को लिखा है और प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय उस पत्र की एक प्रति मुझे भेज रहा है। मुझे उम्मीद है कि या तो प्रधानमंत्री या मैं उनको उपयुक्त तरीके से जवाब देंगे। अब एनसीटीसी मामले पर बहस करने के लिए समुचित समय देने के मुख्यमंत्री के अनुरोध को किस तरह पूरा किया जाए, इस मुद्दे का समाधान एक दो दिन में हो जाएगा।

तेलंगाना के बारे में गृह मंत्री ने कहा कि इस मुद्दे पर फैसला करने की मांग हो रही है।

केंद्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो-सीबीआई ने आंध्रप्रदेश में कडप्पा के सांसद वाई.एस. जगनमोहन रेड्डी और बारह अन्य लोगों के खिलाफ आय से अधिक संपत्ति अर्जित करने के मामले में आरोप-पत्र दाखिल किया है। यह आरोप-पत्र आज हैदराबाद की सीबीआई अदालत में दाखिल किया गया। जांच एजेंसी ने जगनमोहन रेड्डी को मुख्य अभियुक्त बनाया है, जबकि उनके वित्तीय सलाहकार विजय साईं रेड्डी सहित बारह लोगों को आरोपी बनाया गया हैं। उन पर भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक कानून और आपराधिक षड्यंत्र के तहत मामले दर्ज किए गए हैं।------
बिहार और मध्य प्रदेश में बिजली की दरों में वृद्धि की गई है। बिहार बिजली नियामक आयोग ने विभिन्न श्रेणियों के लिए बिजली की दरें पांच से बारह प्रतिशत तक बढ़ा दी है। नयी दरें कल से लागू हो जाएंगी। हमारे पटना संवाददाता ने बताया है कि बिजली दरों में बढ़ोत्तरी से तीन अरब ४८ करोड़ रुपये की अतिरिक्त आय होगी जिसे घाटे में चल रहे राज्य बिजली बोर्ड को दिया जाएगा।्रग्रामीण क्षेत्र के उपभोक्ताओं को बढ़ाई गई बिजली दर से अलग रखा गया है। शहरी इलाकों में ३०० यूनिट तक उपयोग करने वाले उपभोक्ताओं को अब १० पैसे प्रति यूनिट अधिक देना होगा। इससे अधिक इस्तेमाल करने वालों को अब पहले के मुकाबले २० पैसे प्रति यूनिट का अधिक भुगतान करना होगा। वैसे उपभोक्ता जिन्हें चौबीसों घंटे बिजली चाहिए उन्हें १० प्रतिशत प्रीमियम चार्ज देना होगा। तत्काल बिजली कनेक्शन के लिए अब दुगुनी राशि जमा करनी होगी। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए पटना से कृष्ण कुमार लाल
मध्य प्रदेश में घरेलू बिजली उपभोक्ताओं के लिए अगले महीने की दस तारीख से बिजली की दरें सात प्रतिशत बढ़ जाएंगी। राज्य बिजली नियामक आयोग ने कल विभिन्न श्रेणियों के लिए नयी बिजली दरों की घोषणा की। ब्यौरा हमारे संवाददाता से ।

हरियाणा में प्रमुख विपक्षी दलों-इंडियन नेशनल लोक दल और भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने बिजली की कीमत में बढ़ौत्तरी की आलोचना की है। राज्य के ऊर्जा नियामक आयोग ने बिजली की कीमत दस से पंद्रह प्रतिशत बढ़ाने की घोषणा की है। आयोग ने आशा व्यक्त की है कि इस बढ़ौत्तरी से उत्तर और दक्षिण बिजली वितरण निगमों की आमदनी में १७ अरब ९५ करोड़ रुपये की बढ़ोतरी होगी।------

नया रेल किराया कल से लागू हो जाएगा। रेलवे ने एसी-प्रथम श्रेणी, एसी टू-टीयर और एक्जीक्यूटिव श्रेणी और प्रथम श्रेणी के किराये में बढ़ोतरी की है, लेकिन अन्य श्रेणियों के किराये में कोई बदलाव नहीं किया गया है। बढ़ा हुआ किराया सभी रेल गाड़ियों में लागू होगा। जिन यात्रियों ने पहले ही पुरानी दरों पर टिकट खरीद लिये थे, उन्हें भी बढ़ा हुआ किराया देना होगा। वे बकाया भुगतान रेलगाड़ी में टीटी को या यात्रा शुरू करने से पहले बुकिंग कार्यालय में कर सकते हैं। किराये की संशोधित सूची रेलवे स्टेशनों पर लगाई जा रही है। ये रेल मंत्रालय की वेबसाइट www.indianrailways.gov.in पर भी उपलब्ध है।------

थाईलैंड के दक्षिण में तीन बम विस्फोटों में दस लोग मारे गए हैं और सौ से अधिक लोग घायल हुए हैं। ये विस्फोट, एक दक्षिणी प्रांत की राजधानी याला उस समय हुए जब काफी लोग खरीददारी के लिए इलाके के बाजार में थे। विस्फोट के कारण कई दुकानों में भी आग लग गई। अधिकारियों के अनुसार ये बम एक कार और मोटरसाईकिलों में छिपाकर रखे गए थे।------

The centre hopes to resolve the demand for more time to discuss the National Counter Terrorism Centre - NCTC in a couple of days. Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram says, West Bengal Chief Minister has sought considerable time to be devoted to discuss the anti terror centre. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi today after presenting the report card of his ministry, he said, Mamta Banerjee has written a letter on the issue and the Prime Minister or he himself will reply to it.
"I understand that the Chief Minister of West Bengal has written to the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister's Office is sending me a copy of letter. And I expect that either the Prime Minister or I, will reply to her suitably. Now How we will accommodate the request of the Chief Minister to devote a considerable amount of time to discussing the NCTC, subject is a matter that will be resolved in the next couple of days."
The Home Minister said, the Meeting of the Chief Ministers on the 16th of next month is an annual affair as the last meeting had to be postponed due to elections.
On the bomb attack on an Israeli diplomat in New Delhi last month he said, India is in touch with Iran to get access to three Iranians wanted in the case.
On the two hostages in Odisha, the Home minister said, he had spoken to Chief Miniter Navin Patnaik and offered any assistance that is needed. He said, the doors are open for talks for the Maoists, and the only condition is that there should be no violence while the talks are on.
The Home Minister also said, that the Intelligence Bureau has been asked to quickly complete its inquiry into the leak of a letter written by Army Chief Gen. V K Singh to the Prime Minister highlighting various shortcomings in the Army. On the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, Chidambaram said, three amendments are pending with the Cabinet Committee on Security.
After considering the justice Jiwan Reddy report and all other reports, the view of the Ministry of Home Affairs is that three amendment should be made to AFSPA that is pending with the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs.
On Telegana, the Home Minister said, there is a demand for a decision on the issue and the Centre is requesting the four political parties to quickly make up their mind.

The CBI has filed a Chargesheet in the disproportionate assets case against Kadapa Lok Sabha Member and YSR Congress Party President, Jaganmohan Reddy and 12 others. The central investigating agency filed the chargesheet in a special CBI court in Hyderabad today.
The CBI has accused Jaganmohan Reddy as prime accused followed by 12 others including his financial advisor Vijaya Saireddy. They have been charged with offences under various provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act and Criminal Conspiracy. More from our correspondent:
The central agency has cited over 260 documents and 66 witnesses in its 68 page chargesheet. The CBI had filed FIR against Jagnmohan Reddy and 73 others during August last year in the alleged illegal acquisition of assets case. The investigating agency had charged that various investors who were benefitted of public properties, had invested in Jagnmohan Reddy’s companies. In Odisha, the two interlocutors - Dandpani Mohanty and B D Sharma - today appealed to the CPI Maoists Odisha State Committee to release the second Italian, who is under captivity by its cadres in Kandhmal district for the last seventeen days. They said when the state government seems positive to fulfill maximum of their demands on humanitarian grounds, the foreign national should not be kept as captive and released immedialtely. They said the talks for release of the second Italian may start at any time depending on the government.

More than 75 Maoists have surrendered in Andhra Pradesh. They were militia members from Korukonda Area Committee of Maoists. They surrendered before the Visakhapatnam rural police today.
DIG Police (Visakhapatnam Range) Soumya Mishra said those surrendered included eight members involved in various incidents. The incidents include blasting of BSNL towers at Lambasinghi in November 2011, burning of the state Forest Development Corporation quarters at Cherlapalli village last December and attack on police team at Rallagedda village in February.
The surrendered Maoists are from Rallagedda, Kappa Gondi, Mulakothuru and Gunjiveedhi villages of Chintapalli mandal in the agency area of Visakhapatnam district.

In West Bengal, five persons were killed when a speeding train hit them while crossing the rail tracks this afternoon. The accident occurred at Santragachi rail station in Howrah District. A spokesman of the South Eastern Railway said that, the speeding Ranchi-Howrah Intercity Express ran over the victims, who were crossing the tracks instead of using the over-bridge.
Railway Minister Mukul Roy has announced two lakh rupees as ex-gratia to the families of the victims.

Power tariff has been hiked in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission has increased the present tariff by 5 to 12 percent under various categories. This will come in to force from tomorrow. More from our correspondent.
Rural areas have been exempted from increased power tariff. The consumers who use 300 units per month will now have to pay an additional 10 paise per unit.Those consumers who use more than 300 units will have to bear the burden of 20 paise per unit .Under tatkal scheme cost to be double the rate of application fee and services connection charges.There will be 10 percent premium on energy bill for providing close to 24 hours of uninterrupted power supply to notified areas. In Madhya Pradesh, domestic power consumers will have to pay seven percent more as power tariff from the 10th of next month. Our correspondent reports the state power regulatory commission today announced the new power tariff for different categories.
Now domestic power consumers will have to pay four rupees 80 paisa per unit for consumption of 101 to 300 units. At present they are paying four rupees 60 paisa per unit for consumption of up to 200 units. Agriculture consumer will have to pay 20 paisa more for every unit for consumption of up to 300 units. Talking to media in Bhopal , chairman of the state power regulatory commission Rakesh Sahni said that power distribution companies had demanded an average increase of 24 percent but the commission has given approval for hike of 7.7 percent. A series of bomb attacks in southern Thailand have killed at least 10 people and wounded more than 100. The three explosions went off in a central part of Yala, a provincial capital. The blasts hit the centre around midday as families were out shopping. Several shops near the blast sites were set on fire and many parked cars and motorcycles were damaged by the powerful explosions. Officials said the bombs were hidden in motorcycles and a car.

In Yemen, fierce clashes have erupted between military forces and suspected al-Qaida-linked militants, leaving at least 30 people dead. Yemeni officials say the fighting broke out early this morning when militants attacked an army post in the town of Mallah in the southern province of Lahej province.
The area is near Abyan province, an al-Qaida stronghold. The Ansar al-Sharia militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack. A military official said the rebels had occupied an army post and the government responded with artillery fire and air attacks.

The new railway fares will come in to force from tomorrow. Railways have revised passenger fares in AC-First Class, AC-2 Tier, Executive Class and First Class. But, there is no change in the fares of other classes. The new fares in these classes will be applicable to all types of trains. It will also apply to tickets issued in advance for journeys to commence from tomorrow.
In the case of tickets already issued at pre-revised rates, the difference in fares from tomorrow will be recovered from passengers either by the TTEs in the trains or by the booking offices before commencement of the journey. The revised list of fares for the information of the public is being displayed at the stations and also available on the website of the Ministry of Railways, www.indianrailways.gov.in

Sydney’s iconic Harbor Bridge and Opera House went dark this evening as Australians switched off lights around the country for an hour as part of a global effort to shine a spotlight on climate change. Hundreds of landmarks around the world including Washington’s National Cathedral, London’s Clock Tower will be dimmed at 8:30 p.m. local time.
Central Sydney icons have been taking part in the annual event since Earth Hour began as a Sydney-only event in 2007. Australia is among the first countries to hit the light switches each year.
In New Zealand, Sky Tower in Auckland and parliament buildings in Wellington switched off two hours earlier.
WWF, the Washington-based environmental group that organizes the event, said the number of countries and territories participating had grown from 135 last year to 147 this year. The Group's official Dermot O’Gorman said " Earth Hour 2012" is a celebration of people power; the world’s largest mass event in support of the planet.
Libya, Algeria, Bhutan and French Guinea are among those participating for the first time. Earth hour was also observed in India in several parts of the country with switching of the lights at 8.30 PM.

The Indian Navy will soon operate two nuclear submarines. India is set to induct the Russian 'Nerpa' nuclear submarine next week. DRDO Chief V K Saraswat said in New Delhi today that the indigenous nuclear under-water vessel - INS Arihant - will also be launched for operations in the near future. He said INS Arihant is in advanced stages. He said it's nuclear reactor is not yet critical.
The Nerpa has been taken on lease from Russia for ten years and will provide the Navy the opportunity to train and operate such nuclear-powered vessels.
India is also working to develop the arsenal for Arihant as it has already carried out more than 10 test launches of the K-15 missile in the Bay of Bengal. He said it is in the final phases of development and is getting ready towards induction.
