गृहमंत्री पी चिदम्बरम ने स्पष्ट कहा है कि दूरसंचार कम्पनी एयरसेल या मैक्सिस में उनके या उनके परिवार के किसी भी सदस्य की कोई हिस्सेदारी नहीं है। आज लोकसभा में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेता यशवन्त सिन्हा के आरोपों का जवाब देते हुए श्री चिदम्बरम ने ये बात कही।

मैं स्पष्ट रूप से कहना चाहता हूं कि एयरसेल या मैक्सिस में मेरा और मेरे परिवार की किसी भी सदस्य की हिस्सेदारी नहीं है। श्री चिदम्बरम ने इस मुद्दे को उठाये जाने को दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण बताया। उन्होंने इस बात पर अफसोस जाहिर किया कि विपक्ष के एक वरिष्ठ नेता ने सदन का दुरूपयोग किया है। श्री चिदंबरम ने कहा कि उन्हें सम्बद्ध नियम और प्रक्रिया के तहत कोई नोटिस नहीं दिया गया। सदन की कार्यवाही भाजपा के सदस्यों के शोर शराबे के बीच शाम चार बजे तक स्थगित कर दी गई। इससे पहले वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी की टिप्पणी पर विपक्षी सदस्यों के उत्तेजित होने पर सदन की कार्यवाही दो बजे तक स्थगित की गई। श्री मुखर्जी ने बार बार यह मुद्दा उठाये जाने पर आपत्ति प्रकट की, इससे श्री मुखर्जी और विपक्षी सदस्यों के बीच गरमागर्म बहस हुई।
राज्यसभा में गैस लीक की शिकायतों के कारण सदन की कार्यवाही भी दो बार स्थगित करनी पड़ी।

कांगे्रस ने भारतीय जनता पार्टी की आलोचना की है कि वह एयरसेल-मेक्सिस सौदे के मुद्दे को वेवजह तूल दे रही है। नई दिल्ली में पार्टी प्रवक्ता मनीष तिवारी ने बताया कि भाजपा के पास इस बारे में कोई सबूत नहीं है और वह इसे तूल देने की कोशिश कर रही है।

भारतीय जनता पार्टी किसी भी स्पष्टीकरण से संतुष्ट नहीं होगी, क्योंकि वो स्पष्टीकरण नहीं चाहते है तो इसलिए अगर कुछ ठोस प्रमाण उनके पास होते तो सदन में सनसनी नहीं फैलाने की कोशिश करते। उस वक्त स्वयं संसदीय समिति के सामने लेकर आते यहां पर एक व्यापक तरीके से उसकी समीक्षा हो सके।

कथित एयरसेल-मैक्सिस सौदे के मुद्दे पर लोकसभा में गृहमंत्री पी. चिदम्बरम के बयान पर असंतोष व्यक्त करते हुए भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने कहा है कि वह इस मुद्दे पर वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी का उत्तर चाहती है न कि श्री चिदम्बरम का। पार्टी प्रवक्ता शाहनवाज हूसैन ने नई दिल्ली में आज कहा कि सदन में श्री चिदम्बरम का उत्तर बिना किसी नोटिस का था, इसलिए अनुचित था।

बिना नोटिस के बिना सदन को बताये हुए सीधे उनका नाम बुलाया गया और उन्होंने अपना चार लाईन का ब्यान उन्होंने पढ़ डाला। इससे विपक्ष संतुष्ट नहीं है, इस मुद्दे को फिर से सदन में उठायेंगे।

इस बीच, वित्त श्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने लोकसभा में आज गुस्सा करने के लिए खेद व्यक्त किया है। सदन की कार्यवाही दो बार स्थगित होने के बाद जब चार बजे कार्यवाही शुरू हुई तब श्री मुखर्जी ने कहा कि उन्होंने गृहमंत्री पी. चिदम्बरम के खिलाफ विपक्ष के आरोपों का जवाब देने की कोशिश की। उन्होंने कहा कि जो कुछ हुआ वो उचित नहीं था। श्री मुखर्जी ने इसे दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण बताते हुए सदन से माफी मांगी।

एयर इंडिया प्रबंधन ने आज हड़ताली पायलटों के खिलाफ दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय में अवमानना का मामला दर्ज किया। पायलटों की हड़ताल का आज तीसरा दिन है और उच्च न्यायालय ने हड़ताल को गैर कानूनी घोषित कर दिया है। सरकार ने भी कहा है कि हड़ताल गैर कानूनी है क्योंकि इसके लिए प्रबंधन को कोई नोटिस नहीं दिया गया था। हड़ताल के कारण दिल्ली से पांच अंतर्राष्ट्रीय उड़ाने और मुम्बई से तीन अंतर्राष्ट्रीय उड़ाने आज रद्द कर दी गई। एयर इंडिया प्रवक्ता ने आकाशवाणी को बताया कि पश्चिमी देशों के लिए टिकट बुकिंग १४ मई तक के लिए बंद कर दी गई है। इससे पहले नागरिक उड्डयन मंत्री अजित सिंह ने कहा कि सरकार पायलटों से बातचीत करने के लिए तैयार है। उन्होंने आशा व्यक्त की कि वे हड़ताल को गैर कानूनी करार देने के दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय के आदेश का पालन करेंगे। पायलट बोईंग सात सौ ८७ ड्रीमलाइनर प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम में फेरबदल का विरोध कर रहे हैं। इस बीच, एयर इंडिया के दस और पायलटों को आज निलम्बित कर दिया गया। इसके साथ ही निलम्बित पायलटों की संख्या ४६ हो गई है।

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम मामले पर सरकार की पुनर्विचार याचिका वापस लेने की अनुमति दे दी है।  सर्वोच्च अदालत ने केंद्र की इस बात के लिए आलोचना की है कि उसने संबद्ध पक्षों को पत्र के जरिए इस मामले पर अपने इरादे कीं जानकारी दी। अपर सोलिसिटर जनरल के मौखिक आग्रह पर न्यायालय ने पुनर्विचार याचिका वापस लेने की अनुमति दी।
सरकार ने इस मामले पर उच्चतम न्यायालय के फैसले पर पुनर्विचार याचिका दायर की थी। न्यायालय ने अपने दो फरवरी के आदेश में पहले आओ पहले पाओ की नीति को असंवैधानिक करार दिया था।

इस बीच, सी बी आई, प्रवर्तन निदेशालय और आयकर विभाग ने टू जी घोटाले से संबद्ध स्थिति रिपोर्ट आज उच्चतम न्यायालय को सौंप दी। तीनों जांच एजेंसियों ने सीलबंद लिफाफे में यह रिपोर्ट न्यायमूर्ति जी एस सिंघवी और के एस राधाकृष्णन की खंडपीठ को सौंपी। रिपोर्ट में केंद्रीय सतर्कता आयोग की टिप्पणियां भी शामिल हैं। न्यायालय ने मामले की अगली सुनवाई १७ जुलाई निर्धारित की है।

टू-जी-स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाला मामले में कल दिल्ली की एक अदालत पूर्व दूरसंचार मंत्री ए. राजा की जमानत अर्जी पर सुनवाई कर सकती है। राजा पिछले साल दो फरवरी से जेल में हैं। विशेष सी. बी. आई. जज ओ. पी. सैनी ने कल केन्द्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो को निर्देश दिया था कि वह इस बारे में अपना जवाब ११ मई को दाखिल करे।

संसद ने रेलवे विनियोग विधेयक-२०१२ पारित कर दिया है। राज्यसभा ने आज इसे पारित कर दिया। लोकसभा इसे पहले ही पास कर चुकी है। विनियोग विधेयक पारित हो जाने से वित्त वर्ष २०१२-१३ में भारत की संचित निधि से धन निकालने की अनुमति मिल जाती है।

राज्य सभा ने आज बाल यौन अपराध संरक्षण विधेयक, २०११ ध्वनिमत से पारित कर दिया। विधेयक में बच्चों को यौन शौषण, पेरशान करने और उनकी अश्लील फिल्में बनाने से उन्हें संरक्षण देने तथा ऐसे अपराधों के लिए मुकदमा चलाने के वास्ते विशेष अदालतों का गठन करने का प्रावधान है।

पेट्रोल उत्पादन में घाटे की भरपाई के लिए तेल कंपनियों ने सरकार से कहा है कि वह इसे अस्थायी तौर पर नियंत्रित उत्पाद की श्रेणी में रखे और सब्सिडी उपलब्ध कराये या इसके उत्पाद शुल्क में कमी करे। लोकसभा में पेट्रोलियम और प्राकृतिक गैस राज्यमंत्री आर पी एन सिंह ने लिखित उत्तर में बताया कि सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की तेल कंपनियों ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाजार में कच्चे तेल के मूल्य में काफी बढ़ोतरी के बावजूद पिछले वर्ष दिसंबर से पेट्रोल की कीमत नहीं बढ़ाई है। उन्होंने कहा कि पेट्रोल की बिक्री पर तेल कंपनियों को सात रूपये प्रति लीटर से अधिक का घाटा हो रहा है।

संसद के दोनों सदनों की विशेष बैठक १३ मई को होगी। यह बैठक १९५२ में इसी दिन हुई संसद की पहली बैठक की ६०वीं वर्षगांठ मनाने के लिए होगी। लोकसभा और राज्यसभा दोनों की कार्यवाही सुबह ग्यारह बजे शुरू होगी। इस दिन कोई विधायी कार्य नहीं होगा। दोनों सदनों में भारतीय संसद की ६० साल की यात्रा विषय पर चर्चा होगी। बाद में राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील केन्द्रीय कक्ष में दोनों सदनों के सदस्यों को संबोधित करेंगी।

सरकार ने छोटे ऋणों से संबद्ध माइक्रो फाइनेंस नियमन विधेयक २०११ को मंजूरी दे दी है। नई दिल्ली में आज प्रधानमंत्री की अध्यक्षता में मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में यह मंजूरी दी गई। इसके अनुसार छोटे ऋण देने वाली संस्थाओं को भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक से पंजीकृत कराना अनिवार्य होगा तथा साथ ही उनके पास कम से कम पांच लाख रूपये का अपना कोष भी होना चाहिए। एक अन्य फैसले में आर्थिक मामलों से संबद्ध कैबिनेट ने  उत्तर प्रदेश में छत्रपति साहूजी महाराज नगर जिले में इंद्रिरा गांधी मातृत्व सहयोग योजना को लागू करने के प्रस्ताव को भी मंजूरी दी। समिति ने जम्मू कश्मीर में १२वीं पास या केन्द्रीय माध्यमिक शिक्षा बोर्ड से संबद्ध विद्यालयों से समकक्ष परीक्षा पास विद्यार्थियों के लिए विशेष छात्रवृत्ति योजना में संशोधन को भी स्वीकृति दी। इससे पहले इस योजना में उन्हीं विद्यार्थियों को छात्रवृत्ति दी जाती थी जो जम्मू-कश्मीर शिक्षा बोर्ड से १२वीं परीक्षा पास हो।

उत्तर प्रदेश के चर्चित एन आर एच एम घोटाले के सिलसिले में आज सीबीआई ने आईएएस अधिकारी प्रदीप शुक्ला को गिरफ्तार किया। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि इस घोटाले में गिरफ्तार होने वाले प्रदीप शुक्ला १५वें आरोपी हैं। उन्हें आगे की कार्रवाई और पूछताछ के लिए सीबीआई मुख्यालय दिल्ली लाया गया है।

१९८१ बैच के आईएएस अधिकारी प्रदीप शुक्ला वर्ष २००९ से ११ के दौरान राज्य के प्रमुख सचिव स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण से और एनआरएचएम परियोजना निदेशक भी थे। इसी दौरान जनवरी में कथित घोटला होने के आरोप है। सीबीआई ने आर्थिक अनियमिताओं के आरोप में प्रदीप शुक्ला के खिलाफ तीन  प्राथमिकताएं दर्ज कराई थी। सीबीआई इस घोटाले के सिलसिले में तीन आरोप-पत्र दाखिल कर चुकी है, जिनमें जलनिगम के पांच वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों सहित  १४ लोगों को आरोपी बनाया गया है। बहुजन समाज पार्टी सरकार के पूर्व मंत्री बाबू सिंह खश्वाहा और पूर्व विधायक आर. पी. जयसवाल भी इस सिलसिले में जेल में है। सुनील शुक्ल आकाशवाणी समाचार लखनऊ।

भोपाल में आज लोकायुक्त संगठन ने राज्य स्वास्थ्य विभाग के निदेशक डॉक्टर ए. एन. मित्तल और ऑडिटर गणेश किरार के कई ठिकानों पर छापे मारे। पुलिस अधीक्षक सिद्धार्थ चौधरी ने बताया कि डॉक्टर मित्तल के पास ३८ लाख रुपये नकद और जमीन-जायदाद के कई कागजात बरामद हुए। गणेश किरार के घरों से भी दस लाख रुपये नकद और गहने बरामद हुए हैं। डॉक्टर मित्तल को सेवा से निलम्बित कर दिया गया है।

सीरिया की राजधानी दमिश्क में दो बम धमाकों में ५९ लोग मारे गए हैं और तीन सौ ७२ लोग घायल हो गए हैं। घायलों में कई की हालत गंभीर है जबकि मृतकों में नागरिक और सुरक्षाकर्मी शामिल हैं। सीरिया के गृह मंत्रालय ने आत्मघाती विस्फोटों के लिए आतंकवादियों को जिम्मेदार ठहराया है और कहा है कि हमले में एक हजार किलोग्राम से ज्यादा विस्फोटकों का इस्तेमाल हुआ है। विपक्ष ने इस हमले के लिए सरकार को दोषी ठहराया है। सीरिया में इस समय ७० पर्यवेक्षक मौजूद हैं।

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने निर्यातकों समेत विदेशी मुद्रा अर्जित करने वालों से कहा है कि उन्हें कुल प्राप्त विदेशी मुद्रा का ५० प्रतिशत हिस्सा रूपये में परिवर्तित करना होगा। बैंक ने आज मुंबई में जारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार निर्यातक अब कुल अर्जित विदेशी मुद्रा का ५० प्रतिशत हिस्सा ही बिना ब्याज देय ई ई एफ सी यानि विदेशी मुद्रा खातों में रख सकते हैं। बाकी का ५० प्रतिशत हिस्सा उन्हें रूपये में बदलना होगा। अब तक निर्यातक कुल अर्जित विदेशी मुद्रा का शत-प्रतिशत हिस्सा अपने पास रखते थे।

बम्बई शेयर बाजार का सेंसेक्स आज ६० अंकों की गिरावट के साथ सोलह हजार चार सौ बीस पर बंद हुआ। नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का निफ्टी भी नौ अंको की गिरावट के साथ चार हजार नौ सौ ६६ पर रहा।

खेल मंत्री अजय माकन ने आज विभिन्न अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्पर्धाओं में पदक जीतने वाले १५८ खिलाड़ियों को दो करोड़ से ज्यादा नकद पुरस्कार वितरित किये।  यह पुरस्कार २०१० से अब तक विभिन्न अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रतियोगिताओं में पदक जीतने वाले खिलाड़ियों को दिये गये हैं।  नई दिल्ली में, इस अवसर पर श्री माकन ने कहा कि ओलंपिक में स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वाले खिलाड़ी को ५० लाख, रजत जीतने वाले को ३० लाख और कांस्य जीतने वाले को २० लाख रूपये दिए जाएंगे।

Home Minister P. Chidambaram today categorically denied that neither he nor his family members have shares in the telecom company AIRCEL or Maxis. Making a statement in the Lok Sabha in response to the allegations by BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, Mr. Chidambaram termed it unfortunate.

Mr. Chidambaram regretted that the House has been misused by a senior opposition leader. He said that no notice was served to him under relevant rules and procedures. The House was adjourned till 4 PM amidst noisy scenes by BJP members who were raising slogans against Mr. Chidambaram. They also demanded his resignation. Earlier, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2.00 p.m. following disruption of proceedings following sharp reaction by the opposition to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee's remarks. The opposition benches were on their feet after BJP leader Yashwant Sinha raised the issue of alleged corruption in the Aircel Maxis deal.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today tendered an apology in the Lok Sabha for losing his temper earlier in the day. When the house reassembled at 4 pm after two earlier adjournments, Mr. Mukherjee said he had tried to intervene in the opposition's allegations against Home minister P. Chidambaram. He said the incident that took place is not proper. Terming it as unfortunate that he lost his temper, Mr. Mukherjee apologised to the house.

The Congress today criticized the BJP for sensationalising the issue of Aircel-Maxis deal. The party spokesman Manish Tiwary said that BJP has no evidence in this connection and it is trying to only create sensation on this issue.

The BJP party spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain said that Mr. Chidambaram's reply in the House was without any notice and hence, improper.

Without notice and informing the house, his name was called and he gave the statement.  Opposition is not satisfied and we will once again raise the issue in the house.

The government has been requesting High Court Chief Justices to consider due representation of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Notified Minorities and Women while recommending names for appointment as Judges of High Courts. Minister for Law and Justice Salman Khurshid said this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today. But he clarified that the appointment of Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts are made under Articles 124 and 217 of the Constitution of India.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar today said the house has taken serious note of the complaint on misbehavior and assault on a Member of Parliament and will not tolerate such misbehavior against the members. She said this after the house witnessed unruly scenes during Zero hour after BJP members raised the issue of alleged misbehavior by a home ministry official and assault on Bishnu Pada Ray, the party MP from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Speaker said, she has received a notice for a breach of privilege motion from the MP and an enquiry would be conducted into the matter. The Speaker said a suitable decision will be taken after receiving the report from the ministry.

Air India management today filed a contempt case against striking pilots in Delhi High court. The strike by pilots of Indian Pilots Guild, IPG has entered the third day today and High Court has declared it as illegal. The government has also said that the strike is illegal as no prior notice was given to the management. Ten more pilots were suspended today. With this the total number of pilots suspended has gone up to 46. Five international flights from Delhi and three from Mumbai were cancelled today. Air India spokesperson told our Correspondent that booking of west bound flights have been stopped till 14th of this month. These include New York, New Jersey and Toronto. He said passengers who have booked their tickets up to the 14th of this month can prepone or postpone their date of journey without paying any extra charges.

The Supreme Court today allowed government to withdraw its petition seeking review of the 2G scam judgement. The apex court criticized the government for circulating a letter on its intention to various parties linked to the matter. It granted withdrawal of the review petition on the oral request made by Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising. The apex court had also cancelled 122 2G licences, allotted during the tenure of former Telecom Minister A Raja.  Meanwhile, investigation agencies - CBI, Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department today submitted to the Supreme Court their status reports on probe into the 2G spectrum allocation scam. The status reports were filed by the three agencies in a sealed cover to the bench of justices G S Singhvi and K S Radhakrishnan. Taking on record, the status reports filed by various probe agencies, the bench posted the matter for further hearing on July 17.

The government  today approved micro financial sector (development and regulation bill,2011).The decision was taken in the  Cabinet meeting held in New Delhi which was chaired by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.  The bill proposes  to make it mandatory for micro-finance institutions to be registered with RBI and have minimum net-owned funds of 5 lakh rupees. In another decision, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs CCEA today approved the proposal for implementation of Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojna in Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The CCEA also approved the amendments in the special scholorship scheme for Jammu and Kashmir by including students who passed the class 12th or equivalent exam from CBSE affiliated schools in the state. Earlier, this scheme was opened to only those students who passed the 12th or the equivalent exams from the Jammu and Kashmir Board.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Central Bureau of Investigation today detained senior IAS officer Pradeep Shukla in connection with alleged multi core scam in the Nation Rural Health Mission. Details from our Correspondent:

Pradeep Shukla is the 15th accused arrested by the CBI so far. He is being taken to CBI head quarter New Delhi for further interrogation. A 1981 batch officer Shukla was principal secretary health and family welfare and mission director of NRHM between 2009-11 when the scam allegedly taken place. After the scam came into light, he was shifted to the revenue board. The CBI had in January filed three FIRs against Shukla in connection with financial irregularities in the implementation of NRHM. Earlier, the CBI had summoned him for interrogation several times.  Sunil Shukla, AIR News Lucknow.

In Madhya Pradesh, Lokayukta organisation today raided places of Director Dr.A N Mittal and Auditor Ganesh Kirar of State Health department at Bhopal. Superintendent of Police, Mr Sidharth Chaudhary said that beside 38 lakh rupees cash  and documents of various properties were  recovered from Mittal's place during the raids. Ten lakh rupees cash and jewllery were recovered from auditor's residence places. The State Govt has suspeneded Director Dr.A N Mittal.

The death toll in the twin suicide blasts in the Syrian capital Damascus has gone up to 59. More than 372 persons have been injured, many of them in critical condition. Those killed include both civilians and Security personnel. More from our West Asia Correspondent:

The twin blasts took place almost simultaneously in the morning rush hour in the Qazzaz district in the heart of the capital Damascus. Eyewitnesses told that the intensity was so strong that the nine storey military intelligence building was badly damaged along with the nearby residential complexes. Those killed include both civilians and Security personnel. The Syrian Interior Ministry blamed the suicide blasts on terrorists and said over 1000 kilograms of explosives were used in the attacks targetting the military intelligence building.No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts. The head of the UN observer mission in Syria, General Robert Mood visited the blast site with his team and called it a deplorable act. This is the deadliest attack in the capital Damascus since the beginning of uprising against Syrian President over an year ago. Atul Tiwary, AIR News.

New Delhi has called for expanding bilateral economic cooperation with Afghanistan in the fields of mining, agro processing, iron ore and textiles. In an interaction with a 12-member delegation of Afghan Parliamentarians in New Delhi today, Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar said there is immense potential to promote trade and economic activity between the two countries in a number of areas. He said India is actively involved in small and community based development projects including education and health apart from reconstruction and rehabilitation process in that country. Mr Khullar said that to encourage exports from Afghanistan, India last year announced a scheme for least developed countries of the SAARC by allowing duty free access to goods in the Indian market.

Government has said it is taking steps to expand additional food grain storage facilities in the country. Minister for Food and Consumer Affairs K.V. Thomas said this while addressing a national workshop: on Best Practices in Targeted Public Distribution System, TPDS and Food Fortification in New Delhi today. Mr. Thomas said storage capacity of about 64 million tonnes is currently available with Food Corporation of India, FCI and additional capacity of 15.2 million tons is being created under the Private Entrepreneurs Guarantee scheme through private entrepreneurs, and Central and State Warehousing  Corporations. He said out of this 2.8 million tonnes capacity has already been constructed up to March, 2012 and another about 5.2 million tonnes is likely to be completed by 2012-13, and the balance by 2013-14. In North Eastern States, the Centre has finalized a scheme for creation of total storage capacity of 5.40 lakh tonnes.

Falling for the third straight session, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined 60 points, or 0.4 percent, to 16,420, amid subdued global markets, today. The Nifty shed 9 points, or 0.2 percent, to 4,966.Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea ended mixed.The rupee appreciated 42 paise, to 53.42 against the dollar.Snapping a four-day fall, gold rose 100 rupees, to 28,940 rupees per ten grams in Delhi. But silver lost 100 rupees, to 54,200 rupees per kilo.And US crude oil futures fell 66 cents, to 96.15 dollars a barrel, while Brent crude stood over 113 dollars a barrel.Pradeep Kumar, AIR News.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has given cash awards worth over two crore rupees to 158 sportspersons who won medals in international sports events during 2010-11 and 2011-12. The awards were distributed by the Youth Affairs and Sports minister Ajay Maken to over 20 winners present at a function in New Delhi today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Maken said, the ministry has set aside fifty lakh rupees to sportspersons who win gold in Olympics, thirty lakh for silver and twenty lakh for bronze medalists. The awards were presented to sportspersons belonging to archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, weight lifting, and winter sports.

In the IPL match in Hyderabad today, Delhi Daredevils defeated Deccan Chargers by nine wickets.   Set to score 188 runs for a win,  Delhi Daredevils surpassed the target by making 193 for one  in only 16.4 overs.  David Warner hit a fine 109.
Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss, Deccan made 187 for four in their twenty overs.  Opener Shikar Dhawan was the top scorer with 84.   In the other IPL encounter at Jaipur, Chennai Super Kings have elected to field after winning the toss against Rajasthan Royals.
When reports last came in, Rajasthan were 14 for one in 2.1 overs, when the match was interrupted by rain.
