केन्द्रीय पूर्वत्तर क्षेत्र विकास मंत्री वीके हांडिक ने आज शाम ईटानगर में पाया कि दुर्घटना स्थल से शवों को लाने के लिए कल सुबह छोटे हेलिकाप्टरों की मदद ली जायेगी। उन्होंने का कि दूर्घटना स्थल से एक-एक करके ही शवों को निकाला जा सकेगा। श्री हांडिक ने बताया कि मुख्यमंत्री के शव को ईटानगर लाकर उनके सरकारी आवास पर रखा जायेगा। इसके बाद इसे कांग्रेस मुख्यालय ले जाया जायेगा, जहां पार्टी के नेता, कार्यकर्ता, अधिकारी और दूसरे लोग उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि देंगे। शुक्रवार को उनके शव को तवांग ले जाया जायेगा जहां पूरे राजकीय सम्मान के साथ उनका अंतिम संस्कार किया जायेगा। इधर, आज मुख्यमंत्री का शव ईटानगर नहीं पहुंच पाने के कारण प्रदेश कांग्रेस समिति ने अपने कल प्रस्तावित शोक समारोह को स्थगित कर दिया है।

इस बीच अरूणाचल प्रदेश के राज्यपाल जरनल जे.जे. सिंह ने दोरजी खांडू की मृत्यु पर शोक व्यक्त किया है। अपने शोक संदेश में उन्होंने कहा है कि दोरजी खांडू का देहांत अरूणाचल प्रदेश के इतिहास में सबसे दुखद क्षण है। जरनल सिंह ने कहा कि श्री खांडू राज्य के महान नेता थे और उन्होंने विभिन्न पदों पर रहते हुए राज्य के विकास में अपार योगदान दिया।
इससे पहले नागरिक उडडयन मंत्री व्यालार रवि ने हडताल से उत्पन्न स्थिति की समीक्षा के लिए एयर इंडिया के अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक अरविन्द जाधव , नागरिक उड्डन सचिव नसीम जैदी और वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक की।
केन्द्र ने न्यायालय को बताया कि सीबीआई, प्रवर्तन निदेशालय और खुफिया ब्यूरो के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों का एक विशेष जांच दल बनाया गया है जो काले धन के मामलों का पता लगायेगा। इससे पहले 18 मार्च को अदालत ने विशेष जांच दल बनाने को कहा था। न्यायालय का कहना है कि काले धन का मामला व्यापक है इसलिए केन्द्र को समिति के बारे में अपना पक्ष रखना चाहिए।
इससे पहले इन आरोपियों को आठ दिन की सी बी आई हिरासत में भेजा गया था।
जम्मू-कश्मीर में पंचायत चुनाव के छठे चरण के तहत आज नौ ब्लॉकों के तीन सौ बीस सरपंचों और दो हजार तीन सौ बीस पंचों के चुनाव के लिए मतदान हुआ। मतदान सुचारू और शांतिपूर्ण रहा। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि अलगाववादियों के बहिष्कार के आह्वान को नकारते हुए बड़ी संख्या में लोगों ने मतदान किया।
भारतीय प्रजातंत्र में एक बार फिर अपना भरोसा जताते हुए छठे चरण के पंचायती चुनाव में लोगों की एक बड़ी संख्या ने भाग लिया। सीमावर्ती जिला पुखवाड़ा जो कि एक समय आतंकवाद से बुरी तरह प्रभावित है। केलंगेत ब्लॉक में 86 प्रतिशत से अधिक मतदाताओं ने अपने मत का प्रयोग किया। बड़गांव जिले के खाग ब्लॉक में 85 प्रतिशत से अधिक लोगों ने मतदान में हिस्सा लिया, जबकि जम्मू सांभा के पांच ब्लॉक में लोगों ने बढ़चढ़कर मतदान में हिस्सा लिया। रियासी ब्लाक में 85 फीसदी मतदाताओं ने मतदान में हिस्सा लिया।

मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी नेता और आवास मंत्री गौतम देब ने इन आरोपों का खंडन किया। पश्चिम मेदनीपुर जिले में एक रैली में उन्होंने कहा कि वामदलों ने जनता को वास्तविक विकास का रास्ता दिखाया है।
बर्द्धमान जिले की 12 सीटें सहित पुरूलिया, बांकुरा, और पश्चिमी मेदनीपुर की नक्सल बहुल 38 सीटों के लिए शनिवार को मतदान होगा। विधानसभा चुनाव के अंतिम चरण में 10 मई को नक्सल प्रभावित 14 सीटों के लिए वोट डाले जायेंगे।
श्री रोमर ने कहा कि पाकिस्तान को मुंबई आतंकी हमलों से सम्बन्धित मुकदमों में प्रगति और परिणाम दिखाने होंगे और अमरीका चाहता है कि यह मुकदमे आगे बढ़ें, उनके कोई परिणाम निकले और दोषियों को सजा मिले।
मुम्बई आतंकी हमले से संबंधित कार्रवाई में अवश्य प्रगति होनी चाहिए। हस हमले में छह अमरीकी और कई भारतीय मारे गये थे। यह सुनिश्चित किया जाना चाहिए कि दोषी लोग सलाखों के पीछे रहे। अलकायदा और लश्करे तैयबा जैसे संगठनों पर आवश्यक कार्रवाई होनी चाहिए।
भारत का कहना है कि पाकिस्तान के साथ सरक्रीक, सियाचिन और जम्मू-कश्मीर तथा व्यापार सहित अन्य विषयों पर भी बात करना आवश्यक है। ओसामा के मारे जाने की घटना पर सूत्र ने बताया कि राष्ट्रपति ओबामा की घोषणा से एक घंटे पहले, अमरीकी अभियान के सफल होने के बारे में भारत को जानकारी थी।
ऐसा कोई कारण नहीं है कि पाकिस्तान हाफिज+ सईद और अन्य आरोपियों पर कार्रवाई न करे। हम गृहमंत्री की इस बात का समर्थन करते हैं कि हाफिज+ सईद पर कार्रवाई की जानी चाहिए और उसे जितनी जल्दी हो सके, पकड़ा जाना चाहिए।

तवांग में हैलीकॉप्टर दुर्घटना में मारे गए अरूणाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री दोरजी खांडू और चार अन्य लोगों के शव लाने में कठिनाई हो रही है। चार दिन के अभियान के बाद दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हैलीकॉप्टर का मलबा और 56 वर्षीय श्री दोरजी खांडू और चार अन्य लोगों के शव आज सवेरे मिले। तवांग के पास क्याला और लूगूंतांग के बीच उंचाई वाले स्थान पर खोजी दल को हैलीकॉप्टर का मलबा और पांच शव मिले। शनिवार सुबह तवांग से उड़ान भरने के बाद पवनहंस हैलीकॉप्टर लापता हो गया था।हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि पार्थिव शरीर कल सुबह विमान से ईटानगर लाये जायेंगे।

पायलटों की हड़ताल समाप्त करने के लिये एयर इंडिया प्रबंधन और पायलटों के बीच वार्ता शुरू हो गयी है। एयर इंडिया सूत्रों ने इसकी पुष्टि करते हुए कहा कि पायलटों से बातचीत करने के लिये नागरिक उडडयन मंत्रालय के संयुक्त सचिव प्रशांत शुकुल की अध्यक्षता में दो सदस्यीय दल का गठन किया गया है।----

उच्चतम न्यायालय ने विदेशों में जमा काले धन और उसे वापस लाने के लिए विशेष जांच दल बनाने के बारे में फैसला सुरक्षित रखा है। न्यायालय की पीठ ने विदेश में बैंक में कालाधन जमा कराने वालों के नाम सार्वजनिक करने की याचिका पर भी अपना फैसला सुरक्षित रखा है। केन्द्र ने न्यायालय को बताया कि सीबीआई, प्रवर्तन निदेशालय और खुफिया ब्यूरो के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों का एक विशेष जांच दल बनाया गया है जो काले धन के मामलों का पता लगायेगा। इससे पहले 18 मार्च को अदालत ने विशेष जांच दल बनाने को कहा था। न्यायालय का कहना है कि काले धन का मामला व्यापक है इसलिए केन्द्र को समिति के बारे में अपना पक्ष रखना चाहिए।

दिल्ली की एक अदालत ने राष्ट्रमंडल खेल आयोजन समिति के बर्खास्त अध्यक्ष सुरेश कलमाडी, संयुक्त महानिदेशक ए एस वी प्रसाद और उप-महानिदेशक सुरजीत लाल को 14 दिन की न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया। उन्हें खेलों के आयोजन के लिए ठेके देने में धोखाधड़ी, साजिश और भ्रष्टाचार के आरोपो में गिरफ्तार किया गया है। सी बी आई ने पिछले महीने की 25 तारीख को, इन तीनों को राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के आयोजन में खेल का परिणाम बताने वाली घड़ी का कथित रूप से अवैध ठेका एक स्विस कंपनी को देने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया था। इसके कारण सरकारी खजाने को 95 करोड़ रूपये का नुकसान हुआ था।इससे पहले इन आरोपियों को आठ दिन की सी बी आई हिरासत में भेजा गया था।

सीबीआई ने टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम आवंटन घोटाले में जनता दल अध्यक्ष सुब्रह्मणियम स्वामी की, उन्हें सरकारी वकील नियुक्त करने की याचिका पर आज अपना जवाब दायर किया। सीबीआई ने कहा कि श्री स्वामी का उन्हें सरकारी वकील नियुक्त करने का अनुरोध कानून के अनुसार नहीं है और उनकी निजी शिकायत से अलग से निपटा जाना चाहिए। जांच एजेंसी ने जोर देकर कहा है कि केन्द्र ने उच्चतम न्यायालय के निर्देश के अनुसार वरिष्ठ वकील यू.यू. ललित को टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम मामले में पहले से ही विशेष सरकारी वकील नियुक्त कर दिया है। मामले की अगली सुनवाई 18 मई को होगी, क्योंकि श्री स्वामी ने और समय मांगा है।----

भारत में अमरीका के राजदूत टिमोथी जे. रोमर ने कहा है कि मुंबई आतंकी हमले के दोषियों पर पाकिस्तान की कार्रवाई में प्रगति होनी चाहिए। नई दिल्ली में गृहमंत्री पी. चिदंबरम से मुलाकात के बाद संवाददाताओं से श्री रोमर ने कहा कि पाकिस्तान को लश्करे तैयबा के संस्थापक जकिउर रहमान लखवी को जेल में डालना चाहिए।श्री रोमर ने कहा कि पाकिस्तान को मुंबई आतंकी हमलों से सम्बन्धित मुकदमों में प्रगति और परिणाम दिखाने होंगे और अमरीका चाहता है कि यह मुकदमे आगे बढ़ें, उनके कोई परिणाम निकले और दोषियों को सजा मिले।

भारत ने कहा है कि आतंकवादी संगठन अलकायदा का सरगना ओसामा बिन लादेन के पाकिस्तान में मारे जाने के बाद भारत-पाकिस्तान शांतिवार्ता पर असर नहीं पड़ेगा। लेकिन उसने स्पष्ट किया है कि रणनीतिक लक्ष्य हासिल करने के लिए आतंकवाद को नीतिगत हथियार के रूप में इस्तेमाल करने को कभी स्वीकार नहीं किया जा सकता। भारत ने जोर दिया कि पाकिस्तान में ओसामा का मारा जाना भारत की इस धारणा की पुष्टि करता है कि पाकिस्तान आतंकवादियों के लिए सुरक्षित शरणस्थली बन चुका है और इसे खत्म किए बिना आतंकवाद की समस्या से नहीं निपटा जा सकता। उनकी पनाहगाह को जड़ से उखाड़े बगैर वैश्विक आतंकवाद से नहीं लड़ा जा सकता।भारत का कहना है कि पाकिस्तान के साथ सरक्रीक, सियाचिन और जम्मू-कश्मीर तथा व्यापार सहित अन्य विषयों पर भी बात करना आवश्यक है। ओसामा के मारे जाने की घटना पर सूत्र ने बताया कि राष्ट्रपति ओबामा की घोषणा से एक घंटे पहले, अमरीकी अभियान के सफल होने के बारे में भारत को जानकारी थी।

कांगे्रस ने कहा है कि पाकिस्तान के साथ अगले दौर की वार्ता शुरू होने से पहले पाकिस्तान को अपने यहां का आतंकवादी ढांचा ाखत्म करने के लिए प्रभावी कार्रवाई करनी चाहिये। पार्टी प्रवक्ता जयंती नटराजन ने नई दिल्ली में कहा कि सरकार ने आतंकवाद का मुकाबला करने के लिए एक दृढ नीति अपना रखी है और भारतीय जनता पार्टी को राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा से संबंधित नाजुक मुद्दों को राजनीतिक रंग नहीं देना चाहिये। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत-पाकिस्तान वार्ता में आतंकवाद एक प्रमुख मुद्दा बना हुआ है।ऐसा कोई कारण नहीं है कि पाकिस्तान हाफिज+ सईद और अन्य आरोपियों पर कार्रवाई न करे। हम गृहमंत्री की इस बात का समर्थन करते हैं कि हाफिज+ सईद पर कार्रवाई की जानी चाहिए और उसे जितनी जल्दी हो सके, पकड़ा जाना चाहिए।

भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने प्रधानमंत्री से कहा है कि वे पाकिस्तान के साथ वार्ता जारी रखने की नीति पर फिर से विचार करें। पार्टी नेता अरूण जेटली ने नई दिल्ली में कहा कि ओसामा बिन लादेन पाकिस्तान सैनिक अकादमी के निकट एक मकान में रहता था, इससे यह साबित होता है कि पाकिस्तान वैश्विक आतंकवाद का केंद्र है। श्री जेटली ने कहा कि वार्ता और आतंकवाद साथ- साथ नहीं चल सकते।----
झारखंड के पुलिस महानिदेशक जी0 एस0 रथ ने कहा है कि कल लोहरदगा जिले के सेन्हा पुलिस थाना अंतर्गत जंगल में नक्सलियों के खिलाफ पुलिस कार्रवाई में खामियां थीं। इस आपरेशन के दौरान नक्सलियों द्वारा बिछाई गयी बारूदी सुरंग में फंस जाने से ग्यारह पुलिसकर्मी मारे गये थे। उन्होंने रांची में पत्रकारों को बताया कि राज्य के गुप्तचर विभाग से 25 और 26 अप्रैल को ही नक्सलियों के बारे में सूचना मिल गई थी, फिर पुलिसकर्मी कैसे फंस गये, यह जांच का मामला है।----

In Arunachal Pradesh, rescuers were unable to retrieve the dead bodies of Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and four other persons killed in the Tawang Chopper crash. After four days of intense search for the 56 years old Chief Minister’s missing chopper, rescuers located the wreckage and all five bodies this morning. The dead bodies will be airlifted to Itanagar tomorrow morning. A local search party discovered the wreckage along with the bodies in a high altitude area between Kyela and Lugutang near Tawang. The Pawan Hans chopper had gone missing after take off from Tawang on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Governor General JJ Singh has expressed shock at Dorjee Khandu’s demise. Conveying his condolences, the Governor said, the loss of Dorjee Khandu is the saddest moment in the history of Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier, Minister for North Eastern Affairs, B.K. Handique said that the body of the Chief Minister would be sent to his home village in Tawang.

Air India Management and agitating pilots today began talks to end the ongoing strike. Air India sources confirmed this to our correspondent that the talks are being held at different levels. The government has shown flexibility and accepted the demands to reinstate sacked pilots and recognise the Indian Commercial Pilots Association. But the agitating pilots are adamant that they will join duties only after their demands of pay parity and alleged corruption in the national carrier are met. The management is however keen that they should join duties immediately and the concerned committees are looking into their demands. Earlier in the day , Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi had a meeting with Air India CMD Arvind Jadhav, Civil Aviation Secretary Nasim Zaidi and top officials to review the situation arising out of the strike. Air India, which has sacked seven pilots and suspended six others, is suffering an estimated operational loss of 26 crore rupees per day on account of the stir. The management has also decided not to process the April salaries of the agitators till further instructions.

The Supreme Court today reserved its order on a plea to set up a special investigation team, SIT, to track the black money stashed away in foreign banks and to take steps for bringing it back to the country. A Bench of Justices B Sudershan Reddy and S S Nijjar also reserved its verdict on a petition seeking directions to the government to make public the names of persons who have kept black money in the Liechtenstein Bank. The Centre opposed the plea and contended before the bench that a Committee comprising top officers from CBI, ED, IB and other departments, has already been formed to deal with the black money cases.

A Delhi court today remanded to 14 days judicial custody, sacked CWG Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi and two others, arrested on charges of cheating, conspiracy and corruption in the award of Games related contracts. Special Judge Dharmesh Sharma sent Kalmadi, OC Joint Director General (Sports) A S V Prasad and OC Deputy Director General (Procurement) Surjit Lal to judicial custody till May 18th after the CBI said that some important witnesses are yet to be examined. Kalmadi, Prasad and Lal were arrested by the CBI on 25th of April for allegedly awarding illegal contract to a Swiss firm for Timing-Scoring-Result, TSR system for the mega sporting event last year, causing a loss of 95 crore rupees to the exchequer. Earlier, the court had remanded them to eight days of CBI custody.

The Bombay High Court today asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct a "good, honest and proper" investigation into the Adarsh Housing Society Scam and not to get "bogged down by certain personalities". After going through the progress report submitted by CBI, the division Bench of Justices Ranjana Desai and R G Ketkar asked the CBI to carry on their investigation in accordance with law and treat everyone equally. This is the second report submitted by CBI, following directions from the High Court last week to look into the allegations made against Union Ministers - Sushil Kumar Shinde and Vilasrao Deshmukh. CBI, in the latest report, has stated that it is probing the allegations. The court was hearing the petition filed by social activist Simpreet Singh seeking court's monitoring of the investigations.

The U.S. Ambassador to India has said that Pakistan needs to show progress and results in Mumbai trials. Speaking to reporters after a meeting with the Home Minister in New Delhi Timothy J Roemer said, America continues to encourage Pakistan to show results on Mumbai trials, to take on LeT as a terrorist group and to make sure that people like Lakhvi stay in prison. Mr. Roemer in a statement, said that the United States will continue its relentless fight in defending its citizens at home and partners like India. Reiterating his country's commitment to continue its undeterred quest for justice, he said, United States is determined to bring the intelligence and military together to effectively accomplish the goals. The Ambassador said that the death of Osama will make both people of India and America safer but the security partnership between the two countries will be strengthened to deal effectively with the menace of terrorism. He said, New Delhi and Washington are sharing intelligence and best practices which is crucial for the two countries' interests.

India today said that the killing of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Pakistan will not change the course of Indo-Pak dialogue but made it clear that use of terrorism as a policy to further strategic goals is unacceptable. Asserting that the killing vindicates India's position that without the elimination of the terrorist safe havens and sanctuaries in Pakistan there cannot be an end to the global war on terror, highly placed sources said, what was sensational was the fact that Bin Laden was found living in a large mansion in Abbotabad, 80 kms from Islamabad. Admitting that much more pressure was required to be put on Pakistan to deal with terrorism firmly, sources said, India certainly was concerned over the presence of terrorist groups like LeT, JeM and Hizbul Mujahideen which remain a serious threat to India. Apart from being vigilant to this factor and safeguarding its interest, India will continue to press this point with its US interlocutors, as well as, in discussions with Pakistan. Sources said there cannot be any selective approach in dealing with these terror groups.

Congress today asserted that Pakistan should take concrete action to demolish the terror infrastructure on its soil before the next round of talks. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, party spokesperson Jayanti Natrajan said that Government has adopted a steady policy to counter the menace of terrorism and urged the BJP not to politicize the critical issues related to the national security. She added that terrorism remains to be a core issue in the Indo-Pak talks.
The BJP on the other hand, urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to introspect on the government's policy of continuing dialogue with Pakistan. Talking to reporters after a meeting of the party's Core Group held in New Delhi, Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said that talks and terror cannot co- exist and UPA government should rethink upon the policy towards Pakistan.

About 81% voters today exercised their right to franchise during the 6th phase of Panchayat elections held in nine blocks of Jammu and Kashmir, of which 5 blocks were in Jammu Division and 4 in Kashmir Valley. The Railways have announced ex-gratia payment for passengers injured in the train accident in Odhisa . One lakh rupees ex-gratia payment each for seriously injured passengers and ten thousand rupees each for those with minor injuries has been announced. At least 27 passengers were injured in a train accident near Sikiri Railway Station, about 7 km from Titlagarh railway station in Balangir district of Odisha late last night.

Jharkhand DGP G S Rath has said that there were apparent lapses in yesterday operation against the naxals in the jungle area under Senha police station of Lohardaga district, in which 11 policemen got killed after being trapped in landmines by the naxals. Speaking to reporters today at Ranchi, the DGP said that despite receiving intelligence inputs from the State Intelligence Wing on 25th and 26th of last month itself, how police force were to get trapped in such a situation, is matter of investigation. The DGP hinted that an IG level officer would hold an inquiry into this.

Voice of Iraq news agency quoting city’s media director has reported that the incident occurred when two explosive charges blew off in an agricultural area in Khanafsa Township, 23 km to the north of Krabala.
