 टू जी स्पेक्ट्रम मामले में हुई कथित अनियमितताओं की जांच कर रही लोक लेखा समिति ने रिलायंस कम्युनिकेशन्स के अध्यक्ष अनिल अंबानी, एतिसालात डी बी टेलीकॉम के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी अतुल  झांम्ब, एस-टैल के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी शामिक दास और यूनिटैक वायरलैस के प्रबंध निदेशक सिगवे ब्रेकी को आज पूछताछ के लिए उपस्थित होने को कहा है। लोक लेखा समिति ने कल इस मामले में शीर्ष उद्योगपति रतन टाटा और कार्पोरेट लॉबिस्ट नीरा राडिया से पूछताछ की। समिति के अध्यक्ष डॉ० मुरली मनोहर जोशी ने कहा कि इस मामले में कथित अनियमितताओं की जांच कर रही लोक लेखा समिति और संयुक्त संसदीय समिति के बीच कोई मतभेद नहीं है। उद्योगपति रतन टाटा और कार्पोरेट लॉबिस्ट नीरा राडिया से नई दिल्ली में पूछताछ के बाद संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में डॉ० जोशी ने कहा कि दोनों समितियों के अपने-अपने कार्यक्षेत्र है। उन्होंने कहा कि संयुक्त संसदीय समिति को इस मामले में शर्तों की जांच की जिम्मेदारी दी गई है, जबकि लोक लेखा समिति, प्राप्त अधिकारों और नियमों के मुताबिक अपना काम कर रही है। पूछताछ के बारे में उन्होंने कहा कि कार्पोरेट लॉबिस्ट नीरा राडिया ने सवालों के सीधे जवाब नहीं दिए, जबकि टाटा समूह के अध्यक्ष रतन टाटा ने सीधे और स्पष्ट जवाब दिए।

रतन टाटा ने सभी जवाब बहुत खुश्क्ता से दिये उन्होंने यह स्वीकार किया कि ये जो टेप में वर्णन है उनकी और श्रीमति राडिया की बातचीत का वो सही है। उनकी आवाज है जहां उनके पास जानकारी नहीं थी वहां उन्होंने कमीटी को दो तीन दिन के अंदर सारी जानकारियां देने का वायदा भी किया है।

 कांग्रेस ने कहा है कि संसद की लोक लेखा समिति टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले की अच्छी तरह से जांच कर रही है।

 उच्चतम न्यायालय ने सरकार को पूर्व दूरसंचार मंत्री ए. राजा के निकट सहयोगी सादिक बाशा की रहस्यमयी मौत की जांच, सीबीआई को सौंपने के लिए तीन दिन के अन्दर अधिसूचना जारी करने का निर्देश दिया है। न्यायधीश जी एस सिंघवी और ए के गांगुली की पीठ ने अतिरिक्त महाधिवक्ता इन्दिरा जयसिंह के इस बयान के बाद यह आदेश दिया कि तमिलनाडु सरकार ने यह जांच सीबीआई को सौंपने के लिए अपनी सहमति दे दी है।

 प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय ने सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्ता अन्ना हजारे से आज से प्रस्तावित आमरण अनशन न करने की अपील की है। प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय के बयान में कहा गया है कि श्री अन्ना हजारे के साथियों की विधि मंत्री एम वीरप्पा मोइली और अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के साथ पिछले महीने की सात तारीख को जब बैठक हुई थी, प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर सिंह ने भ्रष्टाचार के मामलों पर चिंता जताई थी।
ृ प्रधानमंत्री ने श्री हजारे के सुझावों को स्वीकार करते हुए कहा था कि मंत्रियों के दल की एक उप समिति बाद में सिविल सोसायटी के कार्यकर्त्ताओं के साथ इस मुद्दे पर विचार करेगी।

 केरल में विधान सभा की १४० सीटों के लिए शांतिपूर्ण और निष्पक्ष मतदान की सभी तैयारियाँ अंतिम चरण पर हैं। इस बीच चुनाव पे्रक्षक आदर्श आचार संहिता का अनुपालन निश्चित करने के लिए चुनाव प्रचार पर  नजर  रखें हुए हैं। हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार जैसे-जैसे चुनाव की तारीख नजदीक आती जा रही है प्रचार तेजी पकड़ता जा रहा है।

चुनाव प्रचार को महज एक सप्ताह का समय बचा है। ऐसे में उम्मीदवार और उनके समर्थक सुबह से ही प्रचार में जुट जा रहे हैं। नुक्कर नाटक और लोक धुनों पर आधारित गीतों के साथ जन सम्पर्क पर प्रत्यासियों का खासा जोर है। इस बीच लगभग सभी दलों के प्रचारकों की आज से चुनावी सभाएं हो रही हैं। भाजपा के शेष नेतृ/नेत्री सुषमा स्वराज और कांग्रेस के राहुल गांधी की आज कासर कोड में चुनावी सभाएं हैं। उधर वामपंथी दिग्गज प्रकाशकरार और मुख्यमंत्री वी एस अच्युतानंद पहले से ही समुचे राज्य में धुंआधार चुनाव प्रचार में जुटे हुए हैं। इन सबके बीच चुनाव आयोग की ओर से मतदाता परिचय पत्र बाँटने का काम शुरू कर दिया गया है।

 तमिलनाडु में विधानसभा चुनाव की सरगर्मियां बढ़ती जा रही हैं। हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार विभिन्न पार्टियों के वरिष्ठ नेताओं का राज्य में पहुंचने का सिलसिला शुरू हो गया है।

तमिलनाडु में जैसे-जैसे चुनाव की तारीख नजदीक आती जा रही है राज्य की राजनीति के दोनों बड़े खिलाड़ियों एम करूणानिधि और जय ललिता के बीच शब्दों की लड़ाई और पीछे हो गई है। राष्ट्रीय नेता भी अब लगातार चुनाव प्रचार के लिए पहुंच रहे हैं। कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनीया गांधी भी आज दोपहर चेन्नई में चुनाव प्रचार में हिस्सा लेंगी। राज्य में जहां एक ओर ज्यादातर जगहों पर सीधी लड़ाई दिख रही है। वहीं कन्याकुमारी में कम से कम तीन विधानसभा सीटों पर त्रिकोणीय मुकाबला हो रहा है।

 पश्चिम बंगाल में विधानसभा चुनाव के पहले चरण के लिए ३६४ उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं। इस चरण में उत्तरी बंगाल के छह जिलों में ५४ सीटों पर १८ अप्रैल को वोट पड़ेंगे।

 उधर, असम में कल विधानसभा चुनाव के पहले चरण में ६६ प्रतिशत से अधिक मतदान हुआ। इस चरण में ३८ महिलाओं सहित ४८५ उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में थे। शेष ६४ सीटों के लिए ११ अप्रैल को वोट पड़ेंगे, जिसमें ९६ लाख मतदाता ४९६ उम्मीदवारों के चुनावी भाग्य का फैसला करेंगे।

 उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने मुख्य चिकित्सा अधिकारी डॉक्टर बी पी सिंह हत्या मामले की जांच सीबीआई से कराने से इंकार किया है। हमारे लखनऊ संवाददाता ने बताया है कि विशेष कार्यबल और स्थानीय पुलिस मामले की जांच कर रही है। पुलिस महानिदेशक ने डॉक्टर सिंह के हत्यारों का सुराग देने वालों को दो लाख रूपये के पुरस्कार की घोषणा की।

 प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह और थाईलैंड के प्रधानमंत्री अभिसित वेज्जाजीवा के बीच आज नई दिल्ली में शिष्टमंडल स्तर की बातचीत में समुद्र में समन्वित गश्त, सुरक्षा के क्षेत्र में सहयोग बढ़ाने और बुनियादी ढांचे के विकास में ज्यादा सहयोग पर मुख्य रूप से चर्चा होगी। थाईलैंड के प्रधानमंत्री भारत की एक दिन की यात्रा पर नई दिल्ली आ रहे हैं। विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता विष्णु प्रकाश ने संवाददाताओं को बताया कि बातचीत में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय, क्षेत्रीय और आपसी मुद्दों पर व्यापक विचार-विमर्श होगा।

भारत और थाईलैंड के प्रधानमंत्री द्वारा आपसी हित के और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मामलों पर व्यापक बातचीत करने की आशा है। हमें उम्मीद है कि एक संयुक्त वक्तव्य थाईलैंड के पीएम की यात्रा के अंत में जारी किया जायेगा।
 समुद्री गश्त में सहयोग की चर्चा करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि दोनों देशों की साझा समुद्री सीमाएं हैं और दोनों देशों के बीच व्यापार और आर्थिक संबंध बहुत मजबूत हुए हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि दोनों देशों के बीच व्यापक मुक्त व्यापार समझौते को जल्दी ही अंतिम रूप दे दिया जाएगा जिससे आपसी व्यापार को और बढ़ावा मिलेगा।

 आइवरी कोस्ट में संयुक्तराष्ट्र और फ्रांस के हेलीकॉप्टरों ने राष्ट्रपति लॉरा बागबो के कार्यालय, आवास और उनके सैनिक ठिकानों को निशाना बनाते हुए  हवाई हमले किये। ग्बागबो की सेना पर नागरिकों की हत्या और संयुक्तराष्ट्र शांति रक्षकों पर हमले का आरोप है। फ्रांस के राष्ट्रपति निकोलस सरकोजी के कार्यालय ने बताया है कि संयुक्तराष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून ने फ्रांस से सैनिक भागीदारी की मांग की थी।
 संयुक्तराष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून ने कहा है कि संयुक्तराष्ट्र और फ्रांस के हेलीकॉप्टरों द्वारा आइवरी कोस्ट पर किये गए हमलों का मकसद वहां के नागरिकों की रक्षा करना है। इसे लॉरा बागबो के खिलाफ संयुक्तराष्ट्र की सैनिक कार्रवाई के रूप में नहीं देखना चाहिए।

 लीबिया में संघर्ष विराम के कूटनीतिक प्रयासों की विफलता के बाद कर्नल गद्दाफी की सेना ने मिसराता पर टैंकों से हमला किया। लीबिया के पूर्वी इलाकों में भी लड़ाई की खबरें हैं। विद्रोहियों ने तेल शहर ब्रेगा पर फिर से हमला किया।
 इस बीच लीबिया की सरकार देश में आम चुनाव या संवैधानिक सुधारों के लिए तैयार हो गई है लेकिन यह पूरी प्रक्रिया कर्नल गद्दाफी के नेतृत्व में की जाएगी।

 जापान के इंजीनियरों को विकिरण से दूषित जल को प्रशांत महासागर में छोड़ना पड़ा है, क्योंकि वे क्षतिग्रस्त फुकुशिमा परमाणु बिजली संयंत्र में खतरनाक रिसाव रोक पाने में विफल रहे हैं।
 इंजीनियरों ने परमाणु संयंत्र से विकिरण से प्रभावित दस हजार टन मात्रा में जल का प्रशांत महासागर में निपटान किया है और इस पर जल्द काबू पाने के प्रयासों के तहत रंगीन पाउडर डाला गया है ताकि संयंत्र के परिसर में खतरनाक रिसाव के स्रोत का पता लगाया जा सके।
 जापान के मुख्य कैबिनेट सचिव यूकियो इदानो ने कहा कि उनके पास यही एकमात्र विकल्प है। तोक्यो इलेक्ट्रिक पावर कम्पनी-टेप्को ने कहा कि वह पांचवे और छठे रिएक्टर के निकट रेडियोधर्मिता वाला पंद्रह सौ टन पानी निकालने पर विचार कर रही है।

 श्री सत्य साईं बाबा की हालत नाजुक बनी हुई है। उनका इलाज कर रहे डॉक्टरों ने यह जानकारी दी। फेफड़ों में जकड़न की शिकायत के बाद उन्हें पिछले महीने की २८ तारीख को पुट्टापर्थी के एक अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था। डॉक्टरों ने बताया कि उनका वाइटल सिस्टम ठीक से काम नहीं कर रहा है। इस बीच मुख्यमंत्री एन किरण कुमार रेड्डी आज साईं बाबा को देखने अस्पताल जाएंगे।

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC ) probing the alleged irregularities in the 2G scam has asked Reliance Communications Chairman Anil Ambani, Etisalat DB Telecom CEO Atul Jhamb, S-Tel CEO Shamik Das and Unitech Wireless Managing Director Sigve Brekke to appear before it today. Top industrialist Ratan Tata and corporate lobbyist Niira Radia were quizzed by the PAC in the connection. The (PAC) Chairman Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi   said that there is no conflict between the PAC and the JPC probing the alleged irregularities in the 2G scam.

Regarding questioning yesterday he said that corporate lobbyist Nira Radia was evasive while responding to the queries but Tata Chairman Rattan Tata was candid and clear. Nira Radia was quizzed for more than two hours in the morning and Ratan Tata appeared before the Parliamentary panel in the afternoon. Last week, the CBI filed its first chargesheet in the case against Former Telecom Minister A Raja and eight others. Raja is in jail for alleged irregularities in the allocation of 2G spectrum licenses. A Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), chaired by Congress leader P C Chacko, has also been set up to look into all the details of the 2G spectrum allocation from 1998 to 2008.

Coordinated patrolling in the sea to deal with piracy and cooperation in defence and infrastructure will be the focus of discussions between Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his Thai counterpart Abhisit Vejjajiva in New Delhi today. He arrives on a day long state visit. Briefing reporters, the External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash said that wide ranging discussions on international, regional and bilateral issues will come up for discussion in the talks. Prime Minister of India and Prime Minister of Thailand are expected to have wide ranging discussions on an array of bilateral, regional and international issues and we expect to issue a joint statement at the conclusion of the visit.

 Referring to cooperation in the patrolling of the sea, Mr. Prakash said the two countries share a common maritime boundary and have seen a robust expansion of its trade and economic ties. He added that a comprehensive free-trade area agreement between the two countries will be concluded soon to give further boost to bilateral trade.

The Prime Minister's office has appealed to noted Social Worker Anna Hazare to abandon his proposed hunger strike from today. The appeal pointed out that during the meeting of Mr. Anna Hazare and his colleagues with the Law Minister and other senior officials on the 7th of last month Dr. Singh had said that he appreciates and shares their concern on corruption. The Prime Minister had subsequently accepted Mr. Hazare's suggestion that a sub-committee of a group of ministers would interact with civil society activist and discuss the draft which they had given him. The sub-committee headed by  the Defence Minister had met Mr. Anna Hazare's colleagues but the interaction proved fruitless as the activists insisted on the government accept the their draft in full.

The Union Minister for Water Resources Salman Khurshid ruled out any threat from Chinese plans to set up a dam on the Brahmaputra River, saying information available with the government is not indicative of any concern. Mr. Khurshid said, people often worry about the impact of what the Chinese do on the Brahmaputra. Inaugurating a workshop on Water Resources Management in Shillong, Mr. Khurshid said around 80 per cent of the water that flows in the Brahmaputra, originates in Indian Territory. However, the minister contended that though there was nothing alarmist as of now, we have to keep eyes open and be careful.

As the election day near, war of words between the main players of Tamilnadu politics M karunanidhi and Jayalitha is getting more bitter. The party owned or directly associated TV channels are also intensely engaged in this war following their party line .The national leaders are also descending in the state . Congress president Sonia Gandhi is taking part in the campaign programme at Chennai this afternoon. Party workers from both Congress and DMK are hoping that visit of Sonia Gandhi will improve DMK’s chances to retain power in the state. While the opposition parties are highlighting the omissions and commissions of the government, political observers believe that the battle likely to be tight.

In Kerala preparations are on for the poll in 140 assembly seats. Meanwhile, election observers are keeping a vigil to ensure that mode code of conduct is not violated in the state. However, all political parties have the stepped up election conventions and rallies through out the state.

The condition of Sri Satya Saibaba is reportedly critical. The team of doctors treating him at the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences said this in a health bulletin last evening. Saibaba has been admitted to the hospital at Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh following lung congestion on the 28th of last month. The Director of the Institute A N Safia said in the bulletin that Saibaba’s vital systems are not adequately responding and his condition is critical.

In Uttar Pradesh, the state government has ruled out handing over investigation of the case of murder of the Chief Medical Officer B P Singh to the CBI. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that the Special Task Force and the local police both are investigating the case and a manhunt has begun to book the culprits. The Director General of the state police has announced a cash reward of 2 lakhs rupees for providing information about the killers of Dr. Singh who was murdered in a posh locality in the state capital Lucknow on Saturday. Doctors from the Provincial Medical Services have postponed their stir till the 10th of this month following talks with the state government.

In Ivory Coast , UN and French attack helicopters fired at military camps loyal to strongman President Laurent Gbagbo and the presidential palace and residence.   Gbagbo's forces have been accused of killing civilians and attacking UN peacekeepers.  The office of the French President Nicolas Sarkozy said UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had requested France's military participation. UN chief Ban Ki-moon has said that helicopter raids by UN and French forces in Ivory Coast were to protect civilians and did not mean the global body had taken up arms against  strongman Laurent Gbagbo.  Spokesman for the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations   Nick Birnback told reporters in New York that Gbagbo's forces have consistently used heavy weapons against civilians and peacekeepers in recent days. He says the action was taken according to the mandate the mission has from the UN Security Council.

With 121 points India,  are now just seven points behind Australia.  However,  Micheal Clarke's Australian men have the chance to increase the lead over the 2011 champions as they have a three-match series against Bangladesh starting next week.

Japan has started dumping more than 10,000 tonnes of radioactive water from the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific. The government insists the water is contaminated with only low levels of radiation and is not harmful to humans. Plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) started dumping the water yesterday, saying a total of 11,500 tonnes would be released into the Pacific.  Prime Minister Naoto Kan's top spokesman, Yukio Edano, said in a televised press conference: "We have no choice but to release water tainted with radioactive materials into the ocean as a safety measure."

A United Nations plane has crashed at Kinshasa airport in the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing 32 of the 33 people on board, the UN says. The CRJ-100 jet broke in two and burst into flames as it attempted to land in heavy rain. It had reportedly flown from Goma via Kisangani in the north-east. Twenty UN workers were listed as being on the plane, which had a Georgian crew and both Congolese and foreign nationals aboard. The nationality of the lone survivor remains unknown.

Libyan troops loyal to leader Moammar Gadhafi used tanks and snipers to keep the western city of Misrata under siege Monday as diplomatic efforts to end the Libyan conflict continued. Fighting was also reported Monday in eastern Libya where rebels and pro-government forces have been at a stalemate. Libyan rebels made a new push into the strategic oil town of Brega. A Turkish ferry converted into a hospital ship brought 250 wounded people to Benghazi for treatment. The ship had docked in Misrata under escort by Turkish fighter planes after waiting unsuccessfully for days for permission.

Preliminary results in Haiti's presidential election suggest musician and singer Michel Martelly won the runoff vote on 20 March.  He defeated ex-senator and former first lady Mirlande Manigat, officials quoted by news agencies say. Turnout in the second round was high and voting was largely peaceful, although still marred by fraud. Final results are not expected until 16 April at the earliest.
