भारत के सबसे आधुनिक दूरसंवेदी उपग्रह रिसोर्ससैट-2 को ध्रुवीय उपग्रह प्रक्षेपण यान पी एस एल वी-16 ने सफलतापूर्वक अपनी कक्षा में स्थापित कर दिया है। भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन - इसरो के उपग्रह केन्द्र के निदेशक डॉ0 एलेक्स ने श्रीहरिकोटा में बताया कि रिसोर्ससैट-2 के सौर पैनलों को चालू कर दिया गया है और वे शानदार काम कर रहे हैं। इसका प्रक्षेपण आज सवेरे दस बजकर 12 मिनट पर श्रीहरिकोटा से किया गया। प्रक्षेपण के करीब एक हजार 37 सैंकेड बाद रिसोर्स सैट 2 उपग्रह प्रक्षेपण यान से अलग हो गया और कक्षा में स्थापित हो गया। इसके कुछ मिनट बाद भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन इसरो के अध्यक्ष डा0 राधाकृष्णन ने प्रक्षेपण सफल रहने की घोषणा की। उन्होंने इसरो को पूरा सहयोग देने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह को धन्यवाद दिया। इस मिशन में भारत और रूस के उपग्रह यूथ सैट और सिंगापुर का एक लघु उपग्रह भी भेजा गया है।
प्रधानमंत्री ने इस सफलता पर इसरो के वैज्ञानिकों और इंजीनियरों को बधाई दी है। डॉ0 मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि पी एस एल वी द्वारा तीन उपग्रहों को बिना किसी गड़बड़ी के प्रक्षेपित करना इसरो की उन्नत क्षमता का प्रमाण है।
इसरो अध्यक्ष डॉक्टर राधाकृष्णन ने इसरो के कई भावी कार्यक्रमों की भी आज घोषणा की।
19 मई को हम एक अन्य संचार उपग्रह जी सैट - 8 का प्रक्षेपण करने की योजना बना रहे हैं, जो इसरो द्वारा बनाया गया है। इसका वज+न तीन हजार 200 किलोग्राम होगा। हम इसे फ्रेंच गयाना के एरियन-5 रॉकेट से छोड़ने की तैयारी कर रहे हैं।

पुद्दुचेरी में प्रवर्तन निदेशालय के अधिकारियों द्वारा उपराज्यपाल इकबाल सिंह से हसन अली के साथ उनके कथित संबंधों के बारे में पूछताछ करने की खबर है। हसन अली चोरी-छिपे पैसा विदेश भेजने के आरोप में जेल में बंद हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि उपराज्यपाल के निजी सचिव ने इस बात की पुष्टि की है कि प्रवर्तन निदेशालय के तीन अधिकारियों की टीम आज शाम राजनिवास में उपराज्यपाल से मिलने पहुंची, लेकिन उन्होंने इस बात का खंडन या पुष्टि करने से इंकार कर दिया कि अधिकारियों ने श्री इकबाल सिंह से पूछताछ की या नहीं।

उपराज्यपाल ने स्वीकार किया था कि 1997 में जब वे सांसद थे, उस समय उन्होंने हसन अली खान को पासपोर्ट जारी करने की सिफारिश की थी, लेकिन वे उसे व्यक्तिगत रूप से नहीं जानते थे।

इस बीच, प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ने गृहमंत्रालय से इस बात का पता लगाने को कहा है कि क्या हवाला कारोबार में संदिग्ध रूप से शामिल हसन अली खान के किसी आतंकवादी संगठन के साथ संबंध हैं। निदेशालय ने मंत्रालय को पत्र लिखा है कि इस घोड़ा व्यापारी के विभिन्न लेन-देन के बारे में जानकारियां इकट्ठा करना ज+रूरी है। निदेशालय ने अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय हथियार कारोबारी अदनान खशोगी के साथ हसन अली के कथित संबंधों के बारे में भी पूछा और बताया कि उसने अवैध तरीकों से मल्टीपल पासपोर्ट प्राप्त किए।

बंबई उच्च न्यायालय ने हसन अली खां की जमानत की अर्जी पर सुनवाई इस महीने की उनतीस तारीख तक स्थगित कर दी है। उसकी जमानत की एक अर्जी निचली अदालत में अभी भी लंबित है, इसके बावजूद उसने शुक्रवार को एक और अर्जी दी थी।

दिल्ली की एक विशेष अदालत ने टू जी स्पैक्ट्रम आवंटन मामले में सीबीआई द्वारा आरोपित पांच कॉरपोरेट अघिकारियों की जमानत याचिकाएं आज खारिज कर दीं। अब इन अघिकारियों को न्यायिक हिरासत में भेजे जाने की संभावना है। इन पांचों को मामले की जांच के दौरान गिरफ्‌तार नहीं किया गया। ये कॉरपोरेट अधिकारी हैं- स्वान टेलीकॉम के निदेशक विनोद गोयनका, यूनिटैक वायरलैस लिमिटेड के प्रबंध निदेशक संजय चन्द्रा तथा रिलायंस अनिल धीरूभाई अंबानी ग्रुप के तीन शीर्ष अधिकारी-गौतम दोषी, सुरेन्द्र पिपरा और हरि नायर।

बिहार में 57 ब्लाकों में हुए पंचायत चुनाव के पहले चरण के मतदान में करीब 55 प्रतिशत वोट पड़े। अररिया में सबसे ज्यादा 75 प्रतिशत मतदान हुआ। राज्य चुनाव आयोग के सचिव अहिभूषण पांडेय ने हमारे पटना संवाददाता को बताया मतदान का प्रतिशत बढ़ सकता है, क्योंकि दूरदराज इलाकों की रिपोर्ट अभी नहीं मिली है।

छिटपुट घटनाओं को छोड़कर मतदान कुल मिलाकर शांतिपूर्ण रहा। अनियमितताओं के आरोप में सहरसा और बेतिया के दो पीठासीन अधिकारियों को गिरतार किया गया। छह उम्मीदवारों को भी गिरतार किया गया।

पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा चुनाव के दूसरे चरण का प्रचार कल शाम समाप्त हो जाएगा। इस चरण के तहत नदिया, मुर्शीदाबाद और बीरभूम जिले की पचास सीटों के लिए वोट डाले जाएंगे। कुल 293 उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं।
इस बीच, उत्तरी बंगाल के दो जिलों के दो केंद्रों पर आज पुनर्मतदान शांतिपूर्ण रहा।

कांगे्रस ने लोकपाल विधेयक मसौदा समिति के सहअध्यक्ष शांतिभूषण के खिलाफ मौजूदा मुहिम के पीछे पार्टी का हाथ होने के आरोपों का खंडन किया है। पार्टी प्रवक्ता जयंती नटराजन ने नई दिल्ली में इन आरोपों को निराधार बताया। एक सवाल के जवाब में उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस, भ्रष्टाचार के पूरी तरह खिलाफ है और ऐसे सभी मामलों से पूरी पारदर्शिता से निपटा जा रहा है।

सरकार ने कहा है कि सोमालिया के डाकुओं द्वारा बंधक बनाए गए भारतीय नाविकों की रिहाई के लिए सभी विकल्प खुले हैं। रक्षा राज्यमंत्री एम.पल्लम राजू ने नई दिल्ली में कहा कि भारतीय नाविकों की सुरक्षित रिहाई सरकार के लिए प्रमुख चिंता का विषय है।

महाराष्ट्र में रत्नागिरी शहर में शिवसेना के बंद की समय-सीमा समाप्त होने के बाद आज सुबह नौ बजे कर्यू उठा लिया गया। हमारे संवाद्दाता ने खबर दी है कि दो दिन के हिंसक प्रदर्शनों के बाद जिले में अब स्थिति सामान्य है। रत्नागिरी में कल जैतापुर परमाणु बिजली परियोजना के विरोध में प्रदर्शनों के हिंसक रूप लेने के बाद कर्यू लगा दिया गया था।

भारत और नेपाल आपसी व्यापार, निवेश और आर्थिक भागीदारी बढ़ाने के मुद्दे पर सहमत हो गए हैं। विदेश मंत्री एस.एम. कृष्णा और नेपाल के उपप्रधानमंत्री तथा वित्तमंत्री भरत मोहन अधिकारी के बीच आज काठमांडु में हुई बातचीत में यह सहमति जताई गयी।
मेरी प्रधानमंत्री के साथ बहुत ही स्पष्ट और उद्देश्यपूर्ण बातचीत हुई है। मैं इस वार्ता से पूरी तरह संतुष्ट हूं। प्रधानमंत्री ने भारत और नेपाल के बीच मजबूत द्विपक्षीय संबंधों का उल्लेख किया है।
इससे पहले श्री कृष्णा, नेपाल की तीन दिन की यात्रा पर आज काठमांडु पहुंचे। उनके साथ सात सदस्यीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल भी गया हुआ है। श्री कृष्णा ने कहा कि भारत नेपाल में शांति प्रक्रिया की बहाली में मदद के लिए वचनबद्ध है। श्री कृष्णा नेपाल के प्रधानमंत्री झालानाथ खनाल और राष्ट्रपति रामबरन यादव से भी मिलेंगे।

केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने देश में दो सेमी-कन्डक्टर वेफर फैब्रीकेशन निर्माण इकाइयां स्थापित करने के लिए प्रौद्योगिकी और निवेशकों की पहचान के लिए एक अधिकार प्राप्त समिति गठित करने के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दे दी है।

एक अन्य फैसले में मंत्रिमंडल ने प्रवेश और लाभ में साझेदारी के बारे में नगोया प्रोटोकॉल पर हस्ताक्षर करने की भी मंजूरी दी। यह समझौता जैव विविधता के संरक्षण और उसके सतत उपयोग से संबंधित सम्मेलन के लिए महत्वपूर्ण माना जा रहा है, जो अक्तूबर में नई दिल्ली में आयोजित होने वाला है।

राज्यों और केन्द्रशासित प्रदेशों के सहकारिता मंत्रियों के सम्मेलन में सहकारिता क्षेत्र के पुनरूद्धार के लिए तत्काल कदम उठाने के लिए सर्वसम्मति से प्रस्ताव पारित किया। किसानों को बेहतर ऋण सुविधा मुहैया कराने के लिए सहकारी संस्थाओं को पैकेज+ देने की मांग की गयी।
इससे पहले, नई दिल्ली में सहकारिता मंत्रियों के राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन का शुभारम्भ करते हुए कृषि मंत्री शरद पवार ने कहा कि सरकार को इस साल कृषि क्षेत्र में लगभग चार प्रतिशत वृद्धि दर बने रहने की उम्मीद है। उन्होंने कहा कि कृषि क्षेत्र में वर्ष 2010-11 में निर्धारित लक्ष्य से अधिक वृद्धि हुई है।
हमने चार प्रतिशत वृद्धि का लक्ष्य रखा था, पर हम पांच दशमलव छह प्रतिशत की वृद्धि दर्ज करने में सफल रहे हैं।

श्री पवार ने कहा कि इस साल रिकार्ड खाद्यान्न उत्पादन की भी उम्मीद की जा रही है, जिससे सरकार गेहूं के सीमित निर्यात के बारे में विचार कर सकती है।

देश में गरीबी का अनुपात 2009-2010 में घटकर 32 प्रतिशत पर आ गया है। योजना आयोग के उपाध्यक्ष मोंटेक सिंह अहलुवालिया ने नई दिल्ली में बताया कि आयोग के शुरूआती आंकड़ों से पता चलता है कि वर्ष 2004-05 से ही गरीबी के अनुपात में गिरावट का रूख रहा है। उन्होंने बताया कि आयोग ने तेंदुलकर समिति की सिफारिशों को आधार बनाया है। समिति का सुझाव है कि गरीबी का अनुमान लगाने में कैलोरी की जगह उपभोग आधारित जीवन निर्वाह सूचकांक को आधार माना जाए।

कर्नाटक के कैगा परमाणु बिजली घर की तीसरी इकाई फिर शुरू हो गयी है। बिजलीधर के निदेशक जे पी गुप्ता ने बताया कि तीसरी ईकाई को कल रात दक्षिणी ग्रिड से जोड़ दिया गया है। दो सौ 20 मेगावाट की इस इकाई में 150 मेगावाट बिजली का उत्पादन हो रहा है। इस समय कैगा उत्पादन केंद्र की चारों ईकाईयां काम कर रही हैं।

भारत का बारहवीं पंचवर्षीय योजना में सकल घरेलू उत्पाद की विकास दर नौ दशमलव पांच प्रतिशत हासिल करने का इरादा है। योजना आयोग के उपाध्यक्ष मोंटेकसिंह अहलूवालिया ने आशा व्यक्त की है कि अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाजारों की स्थिति को देखते हुए भारत यह लक्ष्य बिना किसी परेशानी के हासिल कर लेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह की ख्वाहिश थी कि मौजूदा योजना में अनुमानित आठ दशमलव दो प्रतिशत के स्थान पर बारहवीं योजना के दौरान दस प्रतिशत की उच्च विकास दर का लक्ष्य रखा जाना चाहिये।

सामान्य मानसून के अनुमान और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय शेयर बाजारों में मजबूती के बीच आज मुंबई के शेयर बाजार में सेंसेक्स तीन सौ उन्चास अंक की बढत के साथ 19 हजार 471 पर बंद हुआ। नेशनल स्टाक एक्सचेंज का निफ्‌टी 111 अंक बढकर 5 हजार 852 पर जा पहुंचा।
उधर एशिया के बाजारों में अच्छी बढत दर्ज की गयी।
इधर देश में डालर के मुकाबले रूपया 16 पैसे मजबूत हुआ। एक डालर का मूल्य 44 रूपए 33 पैसे रहा।
दिल्ली के सर्राफा बाजार में सोना 115 रूपए महंगा होकर 22 हजार 60 रूपए प्रति दस ग्राम के नये रिकार्ड मूल्य पर जा पहुंचा। चांदी भी एक हजार 850 रूपए महंगी होकर 66 हजार 300 रूपए प्रति किलोग्राम के अब तक के सबसे उंचे मूल्य पर जा पहुंची।
अमरिका में कच्चे तेल का वायदा मूल्य एक डालर 43 सेंट बढकर 109 डालर 71 सेंट प्रति बैरल पर जा पहुंचा।

कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने अन्ना हजारे को आश्वस्त किया है कि वे प्रचार की राजनीति में विश्वास नहीं करती और वे लोकपाल का मजबूती से समर्थन करती हैं। श्री हजारे द्वारा उनके सहयोगियों के खिलाफ शिकायत के जवाब में श्रीमती सोनिया गांधी ने कहा कि उनका विश्वास है कि भ्रष्टाचार के खिलाफ तुरन्त मुहिम शुरू किये जाने की जरूरत है और श्री हजारे को सार्वजनिक जीवन में ईमानदारी के लिए मुहिम शुरू करने की उनकी वचनबद्धता में कोई शक नहीं करना चाहिए। श्रीमती गांधी ने कहा कि लोकपाल विधेयक राष्ट्रीय सलाहकार परिषद के एजेंडे का ही एक हिस्सा है और इसके बारे में सिद्धांतों को तय करने के लिए एक कार्यदल बनाया गया है, जिसकी 28 अप्रैल को अगली बैठक होगी।

इस बीच खबर मिली है कि टूजी स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले में सीबीआई ने जिन पांच बड़ी कंपनियों के अधिकारियों पर आरोप लगाया है , उन्हें आज गिरफतार कर तिहाड़ जेल भेज दिया गया।

The Resourcesat -2, India’s latest remote sensing satellite has been successfully placed in orbit by the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV C-16. ISRO Chairman Dr Radhakrishnan broke the happy news to the media

The Resourcesat-2 also has an additional experimental payload called Automatic Identification System for ship surveillance. The satellite also has two solid state recorders to store the images taken by its cameras which can be read out later to ground stations. It will have an orbital period of 101.35 minutes with 14 orbits per day. An Indo-Russian satellite called Youthsat and a micro-satellite from Singapore were also launched in this mission.The expected mission life is 5 years The Prime Minister has congratulated the scientists and engineers of ISRO. In a message Dr Manmohan Singh warmly congratulated the ISRO family and wished them all success in their future endeavours.

In Puducherry, a team of Enforcement Directorate officials has reportedly questioned Lt. Governor Iqbal Singh on his alleged links with Hasan Ali, who has been arrested in money laundering case. Our correspondent reports that the private secretary to the Governor confirmed that a team of three officials of the Directorate reached Raj Niwas and met the Lt.Governor. Details of the meeting are not known.The Lt. Governor of Puducherry had admitted that in 1997 when he was member of Parliament, he had recommended issuance of passport to Hassan Ali Khan though he did not know him personally.

Meanwhile Bombay High Court today adjourned the hearing of bail application filed by Pune-based stud farm owner Hasan Ali Khan till 29th of this month. Ali, whose bail application is still pending at a lower court, had filed a fresh plea in the high court on April 15th. 53-year-old Hasan Ali was arrested on charges of stashing huge amounts of black money in banks abroad. He is also facing 70,000-crore rupees tax demand notice from the Income-Tax department. He is currently lodged in the high-security Arthur Road jail in Mumbai.

Five corporate executives, named as accused by the CBI in the 2G scam, were today arrested and taken to Tihar Jail after a Delhi court rejected their bail pleas. The special court presided by Additional Sessions Judge O P Saini dismissed the interim bail applications of the five in which they had sought protection from arrest for the next seven days on grounds that they had to make arrangements to manage their business responsibilities in their absence.

Campaigning for the second phase of West Bengal Assembly Election comes to an end tomorrow evening. In the second phase of polling fifty seats in Nadia, Murshidabad and Birbhum districts will go to the polls. Meawnhile, AICC President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi laucnhed a scathing attac on the left front government in the state. She charged the Left Front Government for its failure to utilise the Central funds for the welfare of the people of the state. Addressing an election rally at Nalahati in Birboom district this afternoon, Mrs. Gandhi alleged that the Left Front Government in the State has failed in all fronts. Left Front Chairman Biman Basu alleged at a press conference in Kolkata that Trinamul Congress was using money power to win the assembly election. Repolling in two booths in two districts of North Bengal passed off smoothly today. In Bihar, an estimated 55 percent electorates excercised their right of franchise today during the first phase of Panchayat elections in 57 blocks of the state. The fortune of one lakh 43 thousand one hundred eighty five candidates were sealed in ballot boxes after today polls . The Panchayat elections will conclude on May 18 after nine more phases. The second phase of elections will be held on the 24th of this month.

The Centre's interlocutors today said the intelligentsia in Jammu and Kashmir is against the division of the state on communal lines. But they favour strengthening the special status under Article 370 and devolution of powers to the regions and sub-regions. The heads of the three-member panel of interlocutors Dileep Padgaonkar said this to reporters in Srinagar after a two-day round-table conference.

India and Nepal have agreed to boost trade , investment and economic cooperation.The entire gamut of bilateral issues came up for discussion during the talks between External Affairs Minister S. M Krishna Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bharat Mohan Adhikrari at Kathmandu this afternoon.Krishna later met Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal. Mr.Krishna said that the meeting was fruitful.

The Government has kept all the options open for the safe release of Indian sailors held hostage by somali pirates. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, Minister of State for Defence M. Pallam Raju said that the safe release of the Indian sailors is the prime concern of the government. He, however, said strong measures need to be taken so that such incidents do not occur again. The Minister said that a long term planning is necessary for the safety of the ships in high seas.

The Government says that the agriculture sector has performed better than expected this year. Inaugurating the National Conference of Cooperative Ministers in New Delhi today, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said that the sector grew by 5.6 percent in 2010-11 against the target of four percent.

Pawar said that around 25 million tonnes of wheat is expected to be procured by the Food Corporation of India this year which is far more than the buffer norm of seven million tonnes.

India is targetting 9.5 per cent GDP growth for 12th five year plan period. Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia said looking at the conditions of international markets, India will achieve this growth without much difficulty.

The third unit of Kaiga nuclear power plant has been restarted. Kaiga station Site Director J P Gupta said the Unit-3 was synchronised to the Southern grid at 11.25 p.m. last night after the successful completion of all surveillance tests. The 220-MWe unit is currently operating at 150MWe and its power would be raised gradually.

Two more European Union countries say they will join Britain in sending military advisers to Libya to help rebel forces. Italian Defense Minister Ignazio La Russa said his country will send 10 instructors to help train the rebels who are battling forces loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. Earlier today, France also announced that it will send military advisers for the Libyan rebels. Meanwhile, French President Nicolas Sarkozy met in Paris with the head of the rebels' transitional council, Mustafa Abdel Jalil. After the meeting, Jalil told reporters that he invited Mr. Sarkozy to visit the rebels' stronghold, the eastern city of Benghazi. Libya's foreign minister, Abdul Ati al-Obeidi criticized the dispatch of foreign military advisers, saying it will harm chances for peace in the country. Fighting continued today between rebel and pro-government forces at the besieged western city of Misrata, where residents are pleading for international intervention.

The tsunami and earth quake in Japan has hit the production of Japanese carmaker major Toyota. The comapnay says, it will sharply curtail production in China because of shortage of parts. The production cut will be between 30 and 50 percent of normal capacity through early June. Toyota shut down its 18 domestic plants three days after the earthquake, and has not re-opened them yet.

A 15 member of group of students from Pakistan's Lawrence College in Murree is now on an 8 day tour to India. Principal of the College Farooq Kayani says, such educational tours between both the countries need to continue to for strengthening bilateral relations. Speaking to media in Jalandhar, Kyani said Pakistan students are very happy with the visit and the hospitality in India.

In the IPL cricket match at the Wankhede Stadium today, Mumbai Indians carved out a hard-fought seven-wicket victory over Pune Warriors. Chasing a modest target of 119 runs, after bowling out the Pune team for 118 in 17.2 overs, Mumbai recorded the win off the last ball by making 124 for three in 20 overs. In the other IPL encounter now under way in Kolkata, Kochi Tuskers Kerala were 100 for 5 in 15 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders, a short while ago.
