अरुणाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री दोरजी खांडू सहित पांच लोगों के साथ लापता पवनहंस हेलीकॉप्टर की अभी कुछ जानकारी नहीं मिली है। खोज अभियान आज सुबह फिर शुरु हो गया। सरकार ने लापता हेलीकॉप्टर की खोज के लिए अंतरिक्ष विभाग और इसरो से मदद मांगी है। इससे पहले, मिली खबरों से कुछ भ्रम की स्थिति उत्पन्न हुई जिनमें कहा गया था कि हेलीकॉप्टर सुरक्षित रूप से भूटान में उतरा है।
कल सुबह तवांग हैलीपैड से ईटानगर के लिए रवाना होने के बीस मिनट बाद हेलीकॉप्टर लापता हो गया। पता लगाने के अभियान का अब तक कोई नतीजा नहीं निकला। केंद्रीय गृह सचिव जी के पिल्लै ने कहा है कि भारतीय उपग्रह ने हेलीकॉप्टर होने के संभावित क्षेत्र में पता लगाने की दो बार कोशिश की लेकिन लापता होने वाले क्षेत्र से कोई संकेत नहीं मिल सका।
राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील, प्रधानमंत्री डाक्टर मनमोहन सिंह और कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने हेलीकॉप्टर के लापता होने पर चिंता जाहिर की है। प्रधानमंत्री ने इस बारे में अरुणाचल के राज्यपाल जे जे सिंह से फोन पर बात की।
इस बीच, मेघालय और अरुणाचल प्रदेश सरकारों ने अपने-अपने राज्यों में पवन हंस हेलीकॉप्टर की उड़ाने स्थगित कर दी हैं।
लोकलेखा समिति के अध्यक्ष मुरली मनोहर जोशी ने टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले की विवादास्पद रिपोर्ट बहुमत से नामंजूर किए जाने के बावजूद कल लोकसभा अध्यक्ष मीरा कुमार को सौंप दी। समिति के अध्यक्ष के रूप में श्री जोशी के कार्यकाल का कल अंतिम दिन था।
श्री जोशी ने कहा कि अध्यक्ष को यह रिपोर्ट स्वीकार कर संसद के पटल पर रखनी चाहिए।

इस बीच, कांग्रेस प्रवक्ता अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी ने कहा कि श्री जोशी ने रिपोर्ट में तथ्यों को तोड़-मरोड़ कर पेश किया है।
जिस प्रकार से एक चीज+ जो निर्णय नहीं हुई, निर्णित नहीं हुई, डिस्कस नहीं हुई, जिसका अंतिम चरण नहीं पहुंचा उसको किस प्रकार से जबरदस्ती एक रिपोर्ट बनाकर पीएसी और देश के ऊपर थोपा जा रहा है, वो रीयल मुद्दा है।
लोकसभा के पूर्व महासचिव सी.के. जैन ने कहा कि लोकसभा अध्यक्ष मीरा कुमार के सामने अब रिपोर्ट के बारे में तीन विकल्प हैं।
स्पीकर के पास तीन विकल्प हैं। पहला वो यह कह दें कि चूंकि कमेटी रिपोर्ट एडॉप्ट नहीं हुई है इसलिए हम इसे रिपोर्ट नहीं मानते। दूसरा ऑप्शन है वो जैसे डाक्यूमेंट्स हैं, उन सबको हाउस नैक्स्ट सेशन में प्रजेंट करने की अनुमति दे। तीसरा ऑप्शन जो मुझे बेहतर लगता है कि वो नई कमेटी को यह डॉक्यूमेंट्स सौंप दें और उनसे कहें कि आप इन पर विचार करिये, तो नई कमेटी को मौेका मिलेगा कि उस पर विचार करेगी और जो भी फैसला लेना चाहेगी वो नई कमेटी लेगी।
सीबीआई ने राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के लिए ६२० करोड़ रुपये की बारापुला सड़क निर्माण परियोजना में कथित अनियमितताओं को लेकर लोक निर्माण विभाग के कुछ अधिकारियों और कुछ फर्मों के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज किया है।
सीबीआई ने आरोप लगाया है कि ठेकेदार और दिल्ली सरकार के पीडब्ल्यूडी के अधिकारियों ने परियोजना की लागत बढ़ने दी।
प्रधानमंत्री द्वारा नियुक्त शुंगलू समिति ने इस परियोजना में कथित अनियमितताओं के कारण दिल्ली सरकार की आलोचना की थी।
शुंगलू समिति ने कहा था कि अगर यातायात पुलिस ने अन्य स्थानों पर विशेष लेन तय की होती तो इनसे खिलाड़ियों को खेल गांव और स्टेडियम के बीच लाने- ले जाने में आसानी होती और बारापुला सड़क बनाने की जरूरत नहीं पड़ती।
प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा है कि उत्तर प्रदेश और मध्य प्रदेश सरकारों ने बुंदेलखंड क्षेत्र के विकास के लिए आवंटित राशि का समुचित उपयोग नहीं किया। बांदा में कल एक जनसभा में डॉक्टर सिंह ने कहा कि दोनों सरकारों को पिछले दो वर्ष में १८ अरब रुपये जारी किए गए। २००९ में घोषित ७२ अरब रुपये के आर्थिक पैकेज का भी समुचित इस्तेमाल नहीं हुआ।
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि झांसी में केंद्रीय कृषि विश्वविद्यालय बनाने के लिए संसद के अगले सत्र में विधेयक लाया जाएगा। इस क्षेत्र में पीने का पानी मुहैया कराने की २०० करोड़ रुपये की विशेष योजना की घोषणा की गई।

केंद्र ने १९९५ में पुरुलिया में हथियार गिराने के आरोपी किम डेवी के इन आरोपों को खारिज किया है कि पश्चिम बंगाल की तत्कालीन ज्योति बसु सरकार को अस्थिर करने के लिए केन्द्र सरकार ने इस काम में मदद की। एक सरकारी बयान में कहा गया है कि किम डेवी का ये आरोप शरारतपूर्ण है। बयान में कहा गया है कि इसका मक़सद किम डेवी के प्रत्यर्पण मामले की सुनवाई कर रही डेनमार्क की अदालत को गुमराह करना है।
झारखंड सरकार ने अतिक्रमण हटाए जाने की कार्रवाई से प्रभावित परिवारों के लिए नई पुनर्वास नीति की घोषणा की है। नई नीति के अनुसार गरीबी रेखा से नीचे जीवन यापन करने वाले आठ हजार प्रभावित परिवारों को पहले चरण में ढाई सौ वर्ग फुट के फ्लैट दिए जाएंगे। नीति में प्रभावित परिवारों को अस्थाई राहत देने के लिए टैंटों में अस्थाई बस्ती बनाए जाने का भी प्रावधान है।

राजधानी त्रिपोली पर नेटो के हमले में लीबिया के शासक कर्नल गद्दाफी का बेटा सैफ गद्दाफी और तीन पोते मारे गए हैं। एक सरकारी प्रवक्ता ने कहा है कि हमले के समय गद्दाफी भी उसी भवन में मौजूद थे, लेकिन वह सुरक्षित हैं।
सैल गद्दाफी के छह बेटों में सबसे छोटे थे। वह जर्मनी में पढ़ रहे थे और हाल ही में लीबिया वापस आए थे।

The Pawan Hans helicopter carrying Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Dorjee Khandu and four others continues to remain untracked. The Helicopter went missing 20 minutes after it took off from the Tawang Helipad for Itanagar yesterday morning. Search operations carried out so far have not yielded any result. Union Home Secretary G.K Pillai said Indian Satellite made two passes over the probable area from where the Helicopter went missing but could not pick up any signal. He said the helicopter carries a location transponder that can communicate at 406 MHz frequency, in the event of an emergency. Search operations resumed this morning. The Government has sought the help of the Department of Space and ISRO in locating the missing helicopter. Earlier, there was some confusion following reports that the helicopter had safely landed in Bhutan but there was no official confirmation of the report. President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi have expressed concern over the missing helicopter. Manmohan Singh spoke to Arunachal Governor JJ Singh in this regard. Meanwhile, the Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh Governments have suspended the operations of Pawan Hans helicopter in their states.

The Public Accounts Committee Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi yesterday submitted the controversial report on 2G scam to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar despite the rejection of the draft report by majority members. Yesterday was the last day of the term of the Committee. Mr Joshi said, the Speaker should accept the report on the 2G scam and table it in Parliament. He said he has not given a clean chit to anybody. He also claimed that the rejection of the report by 11 PAC members is unconstitutional. The controversial draft report was rejected by a majority of 11 members in the 21 member Committee on Thursday during a chaotic meeting. Mr Joshi claimed that he had adjourned the meeting. But Congress members alleged that he had walked out and after that they elected Rajya Sabha member Saifuddin Soz to chair the meeting which rejected the report. 11 members belonging to the Congress, the DMK and one each from SP and BSP voted the against adoption of the report. The Congress says Mr Joshi has distorted facts in the report. Refuting allegations of Congress's intervention in the working of the PAC, Party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said Mr Joshi tried to thrust his report on the members of the parliamentary committee. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that funds allocated for development of the Bundelkhand region have not been actively utilised by the Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh governments. Addressing a rally at Banda yesterday, he said the Centre had announced several schemes and projects worth several thousand crore rupees for the development of the region. Expressing the Centre's commitment to the development of the region, he said he had already released 1,800 crore rupees to both the UP and MP governments during the last two financial years for different schemes in this region. An economic package of more than 7,200 crore rupees was announced in 2009 but these were not actively used. The CBI has registered a case against some officials of the Public Works Department, PWD and a few firms in connection with alleged irregularities in the project for construction of the 620 crore rupee Barapullah Nullah flyover for the Commonwealth Games. A CBI spokesperson gave this information in a press statement yesterday but did not give details. The investigating agency has alleged that the contractor and PWD officials of the Delhi government had inflated the cost of the project. The construction of the bridge had come in for some flak from the Prime Minister-appointed Shunglu committee which had criticized the Delhi government for alleged irregularities in the Barapullah flyover project. The Committee report felt that if the government had acted expeditiously, it could have saved cost overruns to the tune of 109 crore rupees.

Air India operated only 10 percent domestic flights yesterday leaving thousands of flyers stranded. With the stand off between the management and pilots continuing, the airline yesterday used two aircraft from Kingfisher on wet lease and operated them on the Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi and Delhi-Patna-Varanasi-Delhi sectors. ICPA President A S Bhinder has said, that the association is open to talks if an assurance is given that their demands will be met within a set time frame. Sources in the aviation ministry say that a section of employees cannot hold everyone to ransom. They cannot dictate terms to the government. Progress in the issue is expected only on or after Monday when the Delhi High Court takes up contempt proceedings against pilots for defying its order to resume work.

The Government has rejected the allegation of connivance or helping the accused in the Purulia arms dropping in 1995 to destabilize the Jyoti Basu government in West Bengal. An official press release said the recent allegations by a wanted and proclaimed offender in the case Kim Davy are mischievous. The release said it aims at misleading the prosecuting agency and a court in Denmark which is seized with the matter of his extradition to India to face trial. It said nothing should be done at this stage that will prejudice the extradition proceedings and the intended trial of Kim Davy after his extradition to India.

Intelligence agencies are interrogating a Pakistani spy who was arrested from the Indo-Pak international border in Sri Ganganagar. Officials said in Bikaner today that the spy, identified as Ismail Khan who used to work as an ISI agent, was arrested on April 28 from his residence at Karanpur area in Sri Ganganagar. A satellite phone through which he used to send messages to his Pakistani handlers had been seized. Three mobile phones with Pakistani sims, a laptop and some documents were also recovered from his possession.

- Air India's fourth day of woes with the pilots refusing to call off their strike is widely reported by the papers today. "Day 4: 135 of 165 domestic flights cancelled; planes borrowed from Kingfisher" says the Tribune. The Hindustan Times writes "AI staff leave counter unattended; fliers fume".
- A recommendation by a Delhi judge regarding punishment for rapists catches the attention of all the papers. "Judge wants castration for rapists" is the banner lead in the Mail Today. The Hindu reports the Court as saying such a punishment exists in many developed countries like the US, Britain and Germany.
- The attack on MIM party MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi in Hyderabad is highlighted in all the papers. "MIM's Owaisi attacked, one assailant is killed" informs the Asian Age. The Times of India writes " MLA out of danger; land row may be reason for attack".
- The inauguration of the new CBI headquarters by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, where he exhorted the agency to work without fear or favour is prominently noticed by all the papers. Interestingly, the Pioneer and the Times of India point out that this new building houses a CBI museum which displays files of some of the most important cases the agency has handled and what are conspicuous by their absence are any files on the Bofors case.
