हैदराबाद में विशेष सीबीआई अदालत ने कर्नाटक के पूर्व मंत्री तथा ओबलापुरम खनन कंपनी के मालिक जी. जर्नादन रेड्डी और इसके प्रबंध निदेशक श्रीनिवास रेड्डी को कर्नाटक में अवैध खनन मामले में इस महीने की १९ तारीख तक न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया कि सीबीआई ने अदालत से दोनों आरोपियों से और पूछताछ करने के लिए अपनी हिरासत में देने की अपील की है। मामले की अगली सुनवाई बुधवार को होगी।सीबीआई के अनुसार जर्नादन रेड्डी के घर से तीन करोड़ रुपया और ३० केजी सोना बरामद हुआ है। इसमें यह भी कहा गया है कि ओबलापुरम माइनिंग कम्पनी के मैनेजिंग डायरेक्टर श्रीनिवास रेड्डी के घर से डेढ़ करोड़ रुपया और कई दस्तावेज बरामद हुए हैं। जर्नादन रेड्डी पर हुए सीबीआई रेड को लेकर बीजेपी ने अपनी आपत्ति उठाई है। राज्य कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष परमेश्वर ने साफ किया है कि सीबीआई रेड के पीछे कांग्रेस का हाथ नहीं है। उन्होंने राज्य सरकार से गुजारिश की है कि आंध्रप्रदेश सरकार के अनुरूप वह भी अवैध खनन के मामले को सीबीआई को सौंप दे। उन्होंने यह भी मांग की है कि लोकायुक्त रिपोर्ट के ऊपर कार्रवाई शुरू हो और सरकार दोषी अधिकारियों के विरूद्ध का कार्य करे। सुधीन्द्र आकाशवाणी समाचार बैंगलूरू।

कंपनी मामलों के मंत्री वीरप्पा मोइली ने कहा है कि खनन घोटाले में रेड्डी बंधुओं की गिरफ्तारी, सत्ता का दुरूपयोग करने वाले हर व्यक्ति के लिए सबक होना चाहिए। श्री मोइली ने कहा कि ये गिरफ्तारी सही दिशा में एक कदम है, हालांकि ये देरी से उठाया गया है। इस मामले में जगन रेड्डी की भूमिका के बारे में एक प्रश्न के उत्तर में उन्होंने कहा कि कानून के तहत कार्रवाई की जाएगी, चाहे कोई किसी भी राजनीतिक दल से सम्बद्ध हो।-----
कांग्रेस ने भारतीय जनता पार्टी पर भ्रष्टाचार के मुद्दे पर दोहरे मापदंड अपनाने का आरोप लगाया है। पार्टी प्रवक्ता मनीष तिवारी ने कहा कि अवैध खनन मामले में रेड्डी बंधुओं के शामिल होने के बारे में सीबीआई की जांच राजनीतिक बदले की कार्रवाई नहीं है।अगर कोई ऐसी जांच होती है जिसमें विपक्ष को परेशानी होती है तो यह आरोप लगाया जाता है और सीबीआई के काम काज में अक्सर मीन-मेक निकाली जाती है। दुर्भाग्य से जब जांच की आंच विपक्ष तक पहुंचती है तो उन्हें सीबीआई फरिश्ता लगने लगती है। इसी से विपक्ष के दोहरे मापदण्ड का पता चलता है।

उधर, भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने कहा है कि खनन व्यवसायी रेड्डी बन्धुओं के व्यवसायिक और व्यक्तिगत मामलों से उसका कोई लेना-देना नहीं है। पार्टी नेता एस.एस अहलूवालिया ने कहा कि पार्टी आरोप तय हो जाने के बाद ही रेड्डी बंधुओं पर कार्रवाई करेगी। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि केन्द्र सीबीआई का दुरूपयोग कर रहा है।-----
तमिलनाडु के पूर्व मंत्री के एन नेहरू के भाई के एन रामाजियम को आज सुबह केरल के कोच्चि अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे पर गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया। उन्हें दुबई से एमिरेट्स की उड़ान से हवाई अड्डे पहुंचते ही गिरफ्तार किया गया। रामाजियम भूमि हथियाने के मामले में अभियुक्त हैं।-----
भू-अधिग्रहण विधेयक के कल संसद में पेश किए जाने की उम्मीद है। उच्च सरकारी सूत्रों के अनुसार केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने आज इस विधेयक को मंजूरी दे दी। विधेयक का उद्देश्य भू-अधिग्रहण के बारे में एक पारदर्शी कानूनी ढांचा तैयार करना है। प्रस्तावित विधेयक के अनुसार सार्वजनिक उद्देश्य के लिए भूमि अधिग्रहण को छोड़कर, भूमि अधिग्रहण के अन्य सभी मामलों में कम से कम ८० प्रतिशत लोगों की सहमति प्राप्त करना अनिवार्य होगा। इस विधेयक में ग्रामीण और शहरी क्षेत्रों के लिए भू-अधिग्रहण के अलग-अलग मापदंड निर्धारित किए गए हैं। नए विधेयक के अंतर्गत राज्यों को अपने अलग भू-अधिग्रहण कानून बनाने की छूट होगी।

गुजरात में लोकायुक्त की नियुक्ति के मुद्दे पर आज भी भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने संसद के दोनों सदनों की कार्यवाही में बाधा डाली। उन्होने गुजरात के राज्यपाल द्वारा लोकायुक्त की नियुक्ति की वैधता का मुद्दा उठाया। बार-बार के स्थगन के बाद दोनों सदनों की कार्यवाही पूरे दिन के लिए स्थगित कर दी गई। लोकसभा में समाजवादी पार्टी के सदस्यों ने उत्तरप्रदेश में दो वकीलों की हत्या का मुद्दा भी उठाया।-----
संसद में शोर-शराबे के बीच आज भारतीय स्टेट बैंक के सहायक बैंक, स्टेट बैंक ऑफ हैदराबाद के हस्तांतरण का अधिकार रिजर्व बैंक से लेकर केंद्र सरकार को देने संबंधी विधेयक पारित कर दिया गया। लोकसभा ने राज्यसभा द्वारा मंजूर संशोधन को अनुमोदित करने के बाद विधेयक पारित कर दिया।-----
लोकसभा में राष्ट्रीय अकादमी न्यासी विधेयक-२०११ पेश किया गया। इस विधेयक के अंतर्गत इलैक्ट्रॉनिक या डीमेट फार्मेट में शैक्षणिक योग्यताओं का एक राष्ट्रीय डाटाबेस बनाया जाएगा, जिससे प्रमाण-पत्रों को प्रमाणित किया जा सकेगा और उन्हें दोबारा जारी किया जा सकेगा।-----
कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय के पूर्व न्यायाधीश सौमित्र सेन लोकसभा में महाभियोग से बच गए हैं। सदन की आज की कार्यसूत्री में यह मुद्दा शामिल था। कानून मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद ने सदन को बताया कि श्री सेन ने इस महीने की पहली तारीख को त्यागपत्र दे दिया है, इसके बाद सदन की भावनाओं को देखते हुए महाभियोग का प्रस्ताव समाप्त कर दिया गया। आज सुबह सरकार ने लोकसभा के नेता और वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी, कानून मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद और संसदीय कार्य मंत्री पवनकुमार बंसल की बैठक में महाभियोग की कार्यवाही को आगे जारी नहीं रखने का फैसला किया। अध्यक्ष ने इस मुद्दे पर सरकार और राजनीतिक दलों के साथ विचार-विमर्श भी किया था। हमारे संसदीय संवाददाता ने बताया है कि लोकसभा में श्री सेन के खिलाफ न्यायालय के रिसीवर के रूप में दुराचरण और वित्तीय अनियमितताओं के लिए महाभियोग चलना था। राज्यसभा ने पिछले महीने की १८ तारीख को भारी बहुमत से महाभियोग प्रस्ताव पारित किया था।-----

विदेश सचिव रंजन मथाई ने संकेत दिया कि प्रधानमंत्री की इस यात्रा के दौरान भारत, व्यापार संतुलन के बारे में कुछ रियायतों की घोषणा कर सकता है।तीस्ता नदी के पानी के बंटवारे के बारे में पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी द्वारा उठाई गई आपत्तियों के बारे में उन्होंने कहा कि सभी पक्षों के हितों का ख्याल रखा जायेगा।

हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि प्रधानमंत्री की ढाका यात्रा बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण होगी और इससे दोनों देशों के बीच संबंधों का एक नया अध्याय शुरू होगा।

A CBI Special Court in Hyderabad sent former Karnataka Minister and Owner of Obulapuram Mining Company, Gali Janardhan Reddy and its Managing Director, Srinivasa Reddy to judicial custody till the 19th of this month in the illegal mining case in Karnataka. The CBI asked the Judge to transfer both the accused to their custody for further interrogation. The Judge adjourned the case for Wednesday. Earlier, the CBI officials brought the accused persons from Bangalore to Hyderabad. CBI Joint Director Lakshmi Narayana said that there is enough evidence to prove that the accused indulged in illegal mining and violation of the forest protection act. The CBI seized several imporant documents from the residences of the Reddy Brothers. Our Bangalore Correspondent has filed this report:
According to the CBI release cash worth more than three crore rupees and gold more than 30 kgs and several incriminating documents were found during searches at the residence of Janardhan Reddy. It also adds that searches at the premises of the Obalapuram Mining Company Managing Director, Srinivas Reddy has yielded cash of more than Rs.1.5 crore and several incriminating documents. It says that after vacation of stay by Hyderabad High Court around 1530 documents and 112 Iron Ore Samples had been collected and around 85 witnesses and suspected have been examined as part of the probe on illegal mining. Congress today charged the BJP with adopting dual standards while dealing with the issue of corruption. Briefing reporters in New Delhi today, Party spokesman Manish Tewari denied allegation of political vendetta in the CBI's investigation into the involvement of Reddy brothers in illegal mining. He criticized the BJP of crying hoarse every time the CBI investigates against its leaders. He said that they point out irregularities into CBI's functioning only when charges against them are being investigated.

The BJP today said that it has nothing to do with the business and personal affairs of the mining barons, Reddy brothers. Talking to reporters in New Delhi Senior party leader, S S Ahluwalia, however said that the party will take action against Reddy brothers only after the charges are established. He alleged that the CBI is being misused by the centre. Talking about the Gujarat Lokayaukta issue, Mr. Ahluwalia demanded a statement from the government in Parliament.

The Land Acquistion Bill is likely to be introduced in Parliament tomorrow. Highly placed official sources said that the Bill was approved by the Union Cabinet today. It aims to put in place a transparent and legal framework for land acquisition. According to the proposed Bill, consent of at least 80 per cent of people will be mandatory to acquire land except where land is acquired for public purpose. The Bill defines public purpose as land use for strategic purposes, infrastructure and industry. The Bill calls for different land acquisition norms for rural and urban areas. Under the new Bill, the states will be free to have their own land acquisition laws.

Opposition BJP today stalled proceedings in both the Houses of Parliament on the appointment of the Lokayukta in Gujarat. The Lok Sabha was finally adjourned for the day after repeated adjournments. As the Lok Sabha met at 4 PM, the opposition BJP continued to press for its demand on the Gujrat Lokakyuta issue. Noisy scenes were witnessed and opposition members trooped into the well forcing the Presiding Officer to adjourn the house. The Samajwadi Party members also raised the issue of the killing of two lawyers in Uttar Pradesh when the house met for the day. The Rajya Sabha was adjourned finally for the day after the house met at 2PM. Agitated BJP members continued to raise their demand of the validity of the appointment of the Lokayukta in Gujarat by the state Governor.

Justice Soumitra Sen of the Calcutta High Court today escaped impeachement by the Lok Sabha. The House before which the impeachment business was listed, dropped it after a sense of the House was taken when Law Minister Salman Khurshid conveyed to the House, the information about Justice Sen's resignation on September 1st.

Justice Sen is the first Judge who has been impeached by the Rajya Sabha. Our Parliamentary Correspondent reports that the House was to impeach Sen for misconduct and isappropriation of funds in the capacity of a Court Receiver, over which he was impeached by an overwhelming majority in the Rajya Sabha on August 18th. Mr. Mathai said that chief ministers of Asam, Tripura, Meghalaya and Mizoram, will be accompanying the Prime Minister apart from Union Minister for Water Resources, Pawan Kumar Bansal and Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna. On the objections raised by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee over sharing of water of Teesta river, Mr. Mathai said, in a federal system, anything which involves the state and the Centre, the view of the state government is always taken into account.

We have been trying to arrive at an agreement on the Teesta, which is acceptable to all parties. In our federal scheme of things nothing is done or will be done without consultation with the state government. Any agreement that we will conclude will have to the acceptable to them. At the same time it would also have to be acceptable to Bangladesh.

The United States has asked Switzerland for detailed information about thousands of American citizens. A Swiss news report says that the United States suspects the citizens of using Swiss Banks, to cheat on their taxes. The report was noted in the August 31st letter of the United States' Deputy Attorney General, James Cole. The letter asked for detailed information on suspected tax avoidance at Credit Suisse and as many as nine smaller Swiss banks.

Special prayers were held today at the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata to mark Mother Teressa's 14th death anniversary. She died on the 5th of September, 1997.
