प्रधानमंत्री ने आज देश में परमाणु बिजली संयंत्रों की अधिकतम सुरक्षा बनाये रखने की सरकार की प्रतिबद्धता दोहराई है। तमिलनाडु की मुख्यमंत्री को कुड़नकुलम परमाणु बिजली संयंत्र के मुद्दे पर लिखे पत्र में डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि परमाणु ऊर्जा कार्यक्रम को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए सुरक्षा के साथ कोई समझौता नहीं किया जाएगा। लोगों की सुरक्षा और आजीविका पर कोई आंच नहीं आने दी जाएगी। उन्होंने कहा कि कुड़नकुलम परियोजना की व्यापक सुरक्षा समीक्षा की जा चुकी है और सभी वैधानिक संस्थाओं ने उसे मंजूदी दी है।
कुड़नकुलम परमाणु ऊर्जा परियोजना के खिलाफ संघर्षरत नेताओं और कार्यकर्ताओं के २२ सदस्यीय शिष्टमंडल ने आज प्रधानमंत्री से मुलाकात की। प्रधानमंत्री ने उन्हें आश्वासन दिया कि परियोजना के सुरक्षा पहलुओं पर निगरानी के लिए समिति बनाई जायेगी। प्रधानमंत्री से बातचीत के बाद, भारतीय कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के नेता डी. राजा ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री ने बताया कि प्रस्तावित समिति में केन्द्र और राज्य के प्रतिनिधि तथा परियोजना का विरोध कर रहे सदस्य भी शामिल होंगे।

समय पर जन सेवाएं सुनिश्चित करने के लिए संसद के शीतकालीन सत्र में सेवाओं की इलेक्ट्रोनिक डिलिवरी के बारे में एक विधेयक लाया जाएगा। यह घोषणा करते हुए संचार और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल ने कहा कि इस विधेयक के पारित होने से भ्रष्टाचार की समस्याओं से निपटने में भी मदद मिलेगी।
सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी के बारे में २०११ की राष्ट्रीय नीति का प्रारूप जारी करते हुए श्री सिब्बल ने कहा कि अधिक पारदर्शिता के लिए इलेक्ट्रोनिक माध्यम से सरकारी खरीद की जाएगी। उन्होंने कहा कि एक करोड़ अतिरिक्त कुशल कर्मचारियों का पूल बनाया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार हर परिवार के कम से कम एक व्यक्ति को ई-साक्षर बनाना चाहती है।
हम चाहते हैं कि हर एक घर में एक व्यक्ति ई-साक्षर हो और हमारा दूसरा मुख्य उद्देश्य यह है कि सभी जनसेवाएं लोगों तक अनिवार्य रूप से पहुंचे और इन सुविधाओं को वहन करने में ज्यादा भार भी न पड़े। इस तरह से हम आम आदमी को लाभ पहुंचाना चाहते हैं। यही हमारा उद्देश्य है।

केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने इलेक्ट्रोनिक मीडिया में गैर जिम्मेदार ऑपरेटरों की भीड़ कम करने के उद्देश्य से टी वी चैनलों की अपलिंकिंग और डाउन लिकिंग नीति को संशोधित करने का फैसला किया है। केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की आज हुई बैठक में देश में टी वी चैनल चलाने की अनुमति मांगने वालों के लिए शुद्ध मूल्य संबंधी मापदण्ड बढ़ाने का फैसला किया गया। एक सरकारी विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने गैर-समाचार और गैर-सामयिक मामलों के चैनलों की अपलिंकिंग और विदेशी चैनलों के डाउन लिंकिंग के शुद्ध मूल्य मापदण्डों को डेढ़ करोड़ से बढ़ा कर पांच करोड़ रुपए करने को मंजूरी दी है। विज्ञप्ति में यह भी कहा गया है कि कंपनियों को प्रत्येक अतिरिक्त चैनल के लिए ढाई करोड़ रुपए का अतिरिक्त शुद्ध मूल्य दिखाना होगा। विज्ञप्ति के अनुंसार समाचार और सामयिक मामलों के चैनलों की अपलिंकिंग के लिए शुद्ध मूल्य को पहले चैनल के लिए तीन करोड़ रुपए से बढ़ा कर २० करोड़ रुपए किया गया है और प्रत्येक अतिरिक्त चैनल के लिए शुद्ध मूल्य पांच करोड़ रुपए रखा गया है।

इस वर्ष सरकारी रियायती योजना के अन्तर्गत भारत से करीब एक लाख पचीस हजार यात्री, हज के लिए जायेंगे। केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में फैसला लिया गया कि प्रत्येक हज यात्री से १६ हजार रुपये रियायती किराया लिया जायेगा। मंत्रिमंडल के निर्णयानुसार इस वर्ष हज यात्रियों के जाने के लिए २१ स्थान निश्चित किए गये हैं। विज्ञप्ति में यह भी कहा गया है कि हज यात्रियों को ले जाने के लिए सउदी अरबियन एयरलाइंस और दक्षिण अफ्रीका की नेशनल एयर सर्विसेस के साथ करार किया गया है। हज समिति के माध्यम से हज पर जाने वाले यात्रियों के यात्रा प्रबंध की जिम्मेदारी नागर विमानन मंत्रालय को सौंपी गई है।

खाद्य पदार्थो की मुद्रास्फीति की दर २४ सितम्बर को समाप्त हुए सप्ताह के दौरान बढ़कर नौ दशलव चार एक प्रतिशत हो गई। इससे पहले के हफ्‌ते में ये नौ दशलवम एक तीन प्रतिशत थी। सब्जियों, फलों, दूध और प्रोटीनयुक्त अन्य वस्तुओं के दाम बढ़ने के कारण खाद्य मुद्रास्फीति में यह वृद्धि हुई।
गैर खाद्य वस्तुओं की मुद्रास्फीति १० दशमलव सात-सात प्रतिशत रही जो इससे पहले के हफ्‌ते में १२ दशमलव आठ-नौ प्रतिशत थी।

वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने फलों और सब्जियों की बढती कीमतों पर चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए कहा है कि कीमतों पर नियंत्रण के उपाय किये जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने आज नई दिल्ली में बताया कि बढती मुद्रा स्फीति के मुददे पर वे रिजर्व बैंक के साथ निरंतर संपर्क में हैं।
ये गंभीर चिंता का विषय है और हमें देखना होगा कि इसे किस तरह सामान्य स्तर पर लाया जाए। मैं इस बारे में आर,बी,आई और अन्य विशेषज्ञों से लगातार सम्पर्क में हूं।
रिजर्व बैंक ने मार्च २०१० से बारह बार ब्याज दर में बढोतरी कर मुद्रा स्फीति पर नियंत्रण पाने की कोशिश की है। हालांकि इस वर्ष के सामान्य मानसून से सरकार को उम्मीद थी कि खाद्य पदार्थो की कीमतों में कमी आयेगी, जिसका असर मुद्रा स्फीति पर भी पडेगा।

महत्वपूर्ण वस्तुओं के आयात में इस वर्ष अप्रैल से जुलाई तक पिछले वर्ष की इसी अवधि के मुकाबले ३७ प्रतिशत से अधिक वृद्धि दर्ज की गई। आज जारी सरकारी आंकड़ों के अनुसार इस वर्ष अप्रैल से जुलाई तक इन वस्तुओं का ३१ हजार छह सौ करोड़ रूपये से अधिक का आयात किया गया। इस अवधि में देश का कुल आयात छह लाख ७४ हजार ३२० करोड़ रूपये रहा।

मुंबई शेयर बाजार का सेंसेक्स आज ४४० अंक की बढकर १६ हजार २३३ पर बंद हुआ। नेशनल स्टाक एक्सचेंज का निफटी भी १३७ अंक बढकर ४ हजार ८८८ पर बंद हुआ। रूपये में आज १९ पैसे की मजबूती आई और एक डालर ४९ रूपये १५ पैसे के स्तर पर दर्ज हुआ। दिल्ली सर्राफा बाजार में सोना स्टेन्डर्ड आज ४७० रूपये की बढत से २६ हजार ९१० रूपये प्रति दस ग्राम के स्तर पर दर्ज हुआ। चांदी भी तीन हजार चार सौ रूपये के उछाल से ५४ हजार दो सौ रूपये प्रति किलोग्राम के स्तर पर दर्ज हुई। अमरीका में कच्चे तेल के वायदा भाव ३१ सेंट की गिरावट से ८२ डालर २८ सेंट प्रति बैरल दर्ज हुये जबकि बे्रंट कू्रड के भाव १०५ डालर के ऊपर दर्ज हुये।

गुजरात में अहमदाबाद सत्र न्यायालय ने आज निलंबित आई पी एस अधिकारी संजीव भट्ट की जमानत याचिका की सुनवाई सोमवार तक के लिए स्थगित कर दी है। इससे पहले दिन में एक अन्य न्यायालय ने गुजरात सरकार द्वारा दायर रिमांड रिवीजन की याचिका पर फैसला दस अक्टूबर तक के लिए टाल दिया है। इस याचिका में सरकार ने भट्ट को हिरासत में लिए जाने का अनुरोध किया है।

दिल्ली की एन आई ए अदालत ने सात सितम्बर के दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय विस्फोट मामले में राष्ट्रीय जांच एजेंसी- एन आई ए को दी गई अमीन अब्बास देव की हिरासत की अवधि १४ अक्टूबर तक बढ़ा दी है। वह इस मामले का एक आरोपी है।

छत्तीसगढ़ में दंतेवाड़ा जिले में आज नक्सली हमले के बाद राज्य के सभी नक्सल प्रभावित क्षेत्रों के थानों को सतर्क कर दिया गया है। राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर बंजारीघाट के निकट नक्सलियों ने बारूदी सुरंगों का विस्फोट कर सशस्त्र सीमा बल के तीन जवानों की हत्या कर दी थी। एक घायल जवान को रायपुर के अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है, जहां उसकी स्थिति गंभीर है।
इस बीच, शहीद जवानों को आज जगदलपुर में श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की गई।

राजस्थान में भीलवाड़ा जिले में एक सड़क दुर्घटना में दस लोगों की मृत्यु हो गई और सात घायल हो गए। जहाजपुर के पास एक जीप के ट्रक से टकरा जाने के कारण यह दुर्घटना हुई। घायलों को नजदीक के अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है।

दिल्ली की एक विशेष अदालत ने टू-जी घोटाले के मुकदमे की कार्यवाही के दौरान उच्चतम न्यायालय में उपस्थित रहने का पूर्व दूर संचार मंत्री ए राजा का अनुरोध नामंजूर कर दिया है। विशेष सी बी आई न्यायाधीश ओ पी सैनी ने इस बारे में ए राजा की याचिका खारिज कर दी है।

सिक्किम में पिछले महीने आए विनाशकारी भूकम्प से तबाही का जायजा लेने के लिए एक केन्द्रीय दल गृह मंत्रालय में संयुक्त सचिव (उत्तर पूर्व) शम्भू सिंह के नेतृत्व में कल राज्य के उत्तरी जिले में जोनगू ;क््रवदहनद्ध होगा। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि यह दल राज्य के अन्य भागों का भी दौरा कर भूकम्प से हुए नुकसान के बारे में अन्तिम रिपोर्ट तैयार करेगा।

भूकम्प से सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित इलाकों का दौरा करने के बाद निर्माण इंजीनियरों तथा बांस मिशन के अधिकारियों का पांच सदस्यों वाला केन्द्रिय विशेषज्ञ दल आज गंगटोक लौट आया। राज्य के राहत आयुक्त ने बताया कि विशेषज्ञ दल राज्य के भूकम्प संभावित क्षेत्र में पड़ने वाले इलाकों में घर और इमारतें बनाने के उपाय सुझायेगा। इस बीच पुर्नवास तथा ढांचा बहाली का काम तेज होने के साथ ही एनडीआरएफ और सेना के राहत और बचाव दल अब भूकम्प प्रभावित इलाकों से वापस लौटने लगे हैं। विनयराज तिवारी आकाशवाणी समाचार गंगटोक।

वर्ष २०११ का नोबेल शांति पुरस्कार संयुक्त रूप से तीन महिलाओं को दिया जायेगा। नार्वे की नोबेल पुरस्कार समिति ने लाइबेरिया की राष्ट्रपति एलेन जॉन्सन सरलीफ, लाइबेरिया की ही लेमा गबोवी और यमन की तवक्कुल करमां को महिलाओं की सुरक्षा, उनके अधिकारों के लिए अहिंसक और शांतिपूर्ण ढंग से संघर्षरत रहने के लिए ये शांति पुरस्कार देने हैं।
हॉर्वर्ड विश्वविद्यालय से अर्थशास्त्र की डिग्री प्राप्त सुश्री एलेन जॉन्सन २००५ में अफ्रीका की पहली महिला राष्ट्रपति चुनी गई थीं। वे लाइबेरिया में शांतिदूत और समाज सुधारक के रूप में जानी जाती हैं।
लेमा गबोवी ने लाइबेरिया की ईसाई और मुस्लिम महिलाओं को एकजुट किया। महिलाओं में साहस जगाने के लिए उन्हें २००९ में सम्मानित किया गया था।
३२ वर्षीय तवक्कुल करमां पत्रकारों के मानवाधिकारों के लिए कार्यरत, वीमेन जर्नलिस्ट्स विदाउट चेन्स की प्रमुख हैं। और जनवरी में यमन के राष्ट्रपति अली अब्दुल्लाह सालेह के खिलाफ आंदोलन में अग्रणी थीं।
ओसलो में शांति पुरस्कार की घोषणा करते हुए नोबेल समिति के अध्यक्ष ने कहा कि जब तक महिलाओं को पुरूषों के समान अवसर नहीं मिलते तब तक विश्व में लोकतंत्र और स्थायी शांति स्थापित नहीं हो सकती।

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today renewed Government's commitment to maintain highest safety standards in the nuclear power plants across the country. In a letter written to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on the Kundakulum Nuclear Power plant issue, Dr Singh said there will be no compromise on safety aspects and livelihood in the pursuit of nuclear energy programme. Dr Singh said that Kudakulam project has gone through detailed and exhaustive safety reviews and clearances have been given by all statutory authorities. He said that a number of welfare projects have been implemented by the Nuclear Power Corporation in the areas adjoining the plant. The Prime Minister also said that tapping all energy sources and diversifying the energy mix is important to meet the growing energy demand in the country. A 22 member delegation comprising of political leaders and activists of the People’s movement against Kudankulam Atomic Power project in Tamil Nadu, had met the Prime Minister today who assured to set up a Committee to look into safety aspects of the project. Talking to reporters after the meeting, CPI Leader D Raja said, the Prime Minister informed that the Committee will consist of representatives from the Centre, the State and members protesting against the project.

The government today unveiled the draft policy on information technology for the year 2011. The draft policy aims at creating a pool of extra 10 million skilled manpower by 2020 and strengthening India's position as a global IT power. Announcing the draft policy, Communications and Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal said that the passage of the Bill will also help in dealing with the problems of corruption. The Minister said, the policy also targets exports worth 200 billion dollars and a total revenue of 300 billion dollars by 2020 from the Information Technology industry and IT enabled services. Mr Sibal said, an Electronic Delivery of Services Bill is being brought in the Winter Session of Parliament to ensure timely delivery of public services. Mr Sibal advocated public procurement will be through electronic mode for greater transparency. Mr Sibal said, the government is keen to make at least one individual in every household electronically-literate.

The Union Cabinet today revised the up linking and down linking policy of TV channels to deter non-serious applicants from crowding the electronic media landscape. In its meeting, the union cabinet decided to increase the net worth criteria for those seeking permission to run TV channels in the country. An official release said the Union Cabinet cleared a proposal as per which the net worth criteria for up linking of Non-News and non current affairs channels and down linking of foreign channels has been revised from 1.5 crore rupees to five crore rupees for the first channel. It further said companies will have to show an additional net worth of 2.5 crore rupees for each additional channel. The release said for up linking of `News and Current Affairs` channels the net worth has been increased from three crore rupees to 20 crore rupees for the first channel and five crore rupees for each additional channel. All television channels would be required to operationalise their TV channels within a time frame of one year from the date of permission. The period of permission and registration for up linking and down linking of channels will be uniform at 10 years. In another Cabinet decision, one lakh twenty five thousand people from India will go on Haj Pilgrimage this year under the government's subsidy scheme. The pilgrims will be charged a subsidised fare of 16,000 rupees each for the pilgrimage. Twenty one embarkation points have been selected for operation of Haj pilgrimage this year. The release stated that pacts have been signed with the Saudi Arabian Airlines and National Air Services of South Africa to carry Haj pilgrims. Ministry of Civil Aviation is entrusted with the responsibility of making air travel arrangements for Haj pilgrims proceeding for Haj through the Haj Committee of India.

In Gujarat, Ahmedabad session court today adjourned the hearing of bail plea of suspended IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt till Monday. Earlier in the day, another court adjourned till Monday, the pronouncement of order on the maintainability of the remand revision application, filed by Gujarat government.

A Delhi court today allowed the National Investigation Agency, NIA, to question Wasim Ahmed for 14 days in its custody in connection with the Delhi High Court blast case. The NIA had arrested Wasim, a Kashmiri studying Unani medicine in Bangladesh, from the India-Bangladesh border area. 15 people had died and 90 injured in the blast. Our Correspondent reports, Wasim is the third person to be arrested by the NIA in the case. Two other residents of Kishtwar, Aamir Abbas and Abid Hussain, were earlier arrested in connection with the case. The NIA custody of Amir Abbas has also been extended till the 14th of this month.

Delhi Police has arrested two high ranked militants of the banned terrorist outfit People's Liberation Army, PLA of Manipur. They have been arrested for their alleged involvement in helping Maoists in training and providing them with arms. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Special Commissioner of Delhi Police, P. N Aggarwal said that their arrests have been made form Paharganj area of Delhi. He said that their arrest has exposed the nexus between militant organisation, PLA and CPI (Maoist) and their intention to form a Strategic United Front.

The 2011 Nobel Peace Prize was today awarded jointly to three women - Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman of Yemen for their work on women's rights. The Norwegian Nobel Committee honoured the three women for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women's rights to full participation in peace-building work. Johnson Sirleaf is a Harvard-trained economist who became Africa's first democratically elected female President in 2005. Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee, organised a group of Christian and Muslim women to challenge Liberia's warlords. Tawakul Karman had been a leading figure in organising the protests in Yemen that opposed the rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh and which kicked off in late January.

Snapping a four day losing streak, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange spurted 440 points, or 2.8 percent, to close above the 16,000-level at 16,233, today, on Europe's efforts to shore up its financial system. The Nifty surged 137 points, or 2.9 percent, to 4,888.Markets also rose across the globe with the bourses in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea gaining between 1 percent and 3 percent. The rupee appreciated 19 paise, to 49.15 against the dollar. Gold surged 470 rupees to 26,910 rupees per ten grams in Delhi. Silver zoomed 3,400 rupees to 54,200 rupees per kilo. Food inflation, as measured by Wholesale Price Index, had stood at 9.13 per cent in the previous week. Talking to media-persons in New Delhi today, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said that rise in inflation is definitely a matter of concern and measures will be taken to bring it down to moderate level. Mr. Mukherjee said, he has been in constant touch with the Reserve Bank of India on the issue.

Police stations across the naxal affected areas of Chhattisgarh have been alerted, following the naxal attack in the Dantewada district today. The naxalites had triggered a landmine near Banjarighat on the national highway which claimed the lives of three jawans of the Sashastra Sima Bal. One injured jawan has been admitted to the hospital in Raipur where his condition is stated to be serious. Meanwhile, homage was paid to the deceased jawans in Jagdalpur today.
The fact that the naxalites could plant landmine on the National Highway to target police parties has not gone down well with the anti-naxal strategists in the state. Informed sources say that the naxalites had planted about 50 kg explosives by the side of the NH to avoid detection, which in turn caused today’s casualties. The naxalites had targeted the convoy of the SSB officers and jawans, traveling in 11 vehicles along the national highway 63 to Jagdalpur from their base camp at Karli. In Sikkim, a Central Government Assessment Team led by Mr. Shambhu Singh, Joint Secretary (North-East), Ministry of Home Affairs, is leaving for Dzongu in North district tomorrow. The Relief Commissioner of the State Mr.BK Kharel told in Gangtok this evening that a five member Central Expert Team of structural engineers and Bamboo Mission officials returned back to the capital today after visiting the worst affected areas of the North district yesterday. He told that the team will suggest ways and means for constructing buildings and houses in the earthquake prone State. Meanwhile, as the focus is now shifting to restoration and rehabilitation works, the NDRF and Army rescue teams too are gradually leaving the North district and other affected areas of the State. As many as 2.05 lakh candidates have registered for the Common Admission Test, CAT, 2011 for admission to the prestigious IIMs and other B-schools. The cities in which the highest number of candidates are scheduled to take the online test between October 22 and November 18 are New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune. The test this year will have two sections instead of three and students will have 70 minutes to answer each of them.

Downplaying the threat of NDM1 Super bug in the national capital, Delhi Government today said that the prevalence of this infection is very low and it cannot be termed as alarming. Delhi Health Minister Dr A.K Walia said this while chairing a high level meeting with officials of Health Department and City Hospitals.
