प्रधानमंत्री ने देश में परमाणु बिजली संयंत्रों की अधिकतम सुरक्षा के प्रति सरकार की प्रतिबद्धता दोहराई है। कुड़नकुलम परमाणु बिजली संयंत्र के मुद्दे पर तमिलनाडु की मुख्यमंत्री को लिखे पत्र में डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा है कि परमाणु ऊर्जा कार्यक्रम को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए सुरक्षा के साथ कोई समझौता नहीं किया जाएगा। लोगों की सुरक्षा और आजीविका पर कोई आंच नहीं आने दी जाएगी। उन्होंने कहा कि कुड़नकुलम परियोजना की व्यापक सुरक्षा समीक्षा की जा चुकी है और सभी वैधानिक संस्थाओं ने इसे मंजूरी दी है।कुड़नकुलम परमाणु ऊर्जा परियोजना के खिलाफ संघर्षरत नेताओं और कार्यकर्ताओं के २२ सदस्यो के शिष्टमंडल ने कल प्रधानमंत्री से मुलाकात की। प्रधानमंत्री ने उन्हें आश्वासन दिया कि परियोजना के सुरक्षा पहलुओं पर निगरानी के लिए समिति बनाई जायेगी।

सरकार, आयकर अधिकारियों को संदिग्ध करदाताओं के पिछले १६ वर्ष के आयकर रिटर्न की दोबारा जांच की अनुमति देने पर विचार कर रही है। इसका उद्देश्य कालेधन के मामले की जांच व्यवस्था को मजबूत करना है। वित्त मंत्रालय के एक अधिकारी ने नई दिल्ली में कहा कि पिछले रिटर्न की जांच अवधि इसलिए बढ़ाई जा रही है ताकि आयकर आधिकारी संदिग्ध लोगों और फर्मों की आय तथा खर्च की व्यापक जांच कर सकें।मौजूदा आयकर नियमों के तहत आयकर अधिकारियों को केवल पिछले छह वर्षों के आयकर रिटर्न की जांच करने की अनुमति है और यह अवधि बढ़ाने के लिये सरकार आयकर अधिनियम १९६१ में संशोधन कर सकती है ।

सरकार ने वर्ष २०११ के लिए सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी नीति का मसौदा जारी कर दिया है। मसौदे की घोषणा करते हुए संचार और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल ने कहा कि समय पर जन सेवाएं सुनिश्चित करने के लिए संसद के शीतकालीन सत्र में सेवाओं की इलेक्ट्रोनिक डिलिवरी के बारे में एक विधेयक लाया जाएगा। इस विधेयक के पारित होने से भ्रष्टाचार की समस्या से निपटने में भी मदद मिलेगी। श्री सिब्बल ने कहा कि इस नीति का उद्देश्य २०२० तक एक करोड़ अतिरिक्त कुशल कर्मचारियों का एक पूल बनाना और विश्व सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी शक्ति के रूप में भारत की स्थिति को मजबूत करना है। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार हर परिवार के कम से कम एक सदस्य को ई-साक्षर बनाना चाहती है।
हम चाहते हैं कि हर एक घर में एक व्यक्ति ई-साक्षर हो और हमारा दूसरा मुख्य उद्देश्य यह है कि सभी जनसेवाएं लोगों तक अनिवार्य रूप से पहुंचे। इन सुविधाओं को वहन करने में ज्यादा भार भी न पड़े। इस तरह से हम आम आदमी को लाभ पहुंचाना चाहते हैं। यही हमारा उद्देश्य है।

केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने इलेक्ट्रोनिक मीडिया में गैर जिम्मेदार ऑपरेटरों की भीड़ कम करने के लिए टी वी चैनलों की अपलिंकिंग और डाउन लिकिंग नीति संशोधित करने का फैसला किया है। कल केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में देश में टी वी चैनल चलाने की अनुमति मांगने वालों के लिए न्यूनतम नेट वर्थ बढ़ाने का फैसला किया गया। सरकारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने गैर-समाचार और गैर-सामयिक विषयों का प्रसारण करने वाले चैनलों की अपलिंकिंग और विदेशी चैनलों की डाउन लिंकिंग के लिए नेट वर्थ डेढ़ करोड़ से बढ़ा कर पांच करोड़ रुपए करने के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दी है। कंपनियों को प्रत्येक अतिरिक्त चैनल के लिए ढाई करोड़ रुपए की अतिरिक्त नेट वर्थ दिखानी होगी। समाचार और सामयिक विषयों के चैनलों की अपलिंकिंग के लिए नेट वर्थ को पहले चैनल के लिए तीन करोड़ रुपए से बढ़ा कर २० करोड़ रुपए किया गया है। ------
राष्ट्रपति ने कहा है कि भारत ने भ्रष्टाचार की समस्या से निपटने के लिए अनेक कदम उठाए हैं। ऑस्ट्रिया और स्विटजरलैंड की आठ दिन की यात्रा के बाद स्वदेश लौटते हुए विमान में पत्रकारों से बातचीत में श्रीमती प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील ने कहा कि लोकपाल विधेयक संसद के सामने है तथा सरकार इसे पारित कराने और लागू करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। राष्ट्रपति ऑस्ट्रिया और स्विटजरलैंड की यात्रा सम्पन्न कर कल रात नई दिल्ली लौटीं। आतंकवाद की चर्चा करते हुए राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि यह दुनिया की शांति और सुरक्षा के लिए गम्भीर खतरा है। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समुदाय को आतंकवाद से कारगर ढंग से निपटने के लिए एकजुट होकर काम करना होगा।
संयुक्त राष्ट्र में सुधारों के मुद्दे पर श्रीमती पाटील ने कहा कि स्विटजरलैंड और ऑस्ट्रिया दोनों देश मानते हैं कि विस्तारित सुरक्षा परिषद् में स्थायी सदस्यता की भारत की दावेदारी बहुत मजबूत और न्यायसंगत है।
हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि राष्ट्रपति की यात्रा के दौरान कई समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर भी किए गए।
राष्ट्रपति का यह दौरा भारत के लिए काफी महत्त्वपूर्ण रहा। स्वीटजर लैंण्ड और ऑस्ट्रिया के साथ द्विपक्षीय समझौते किए गए। वियना में दो समझौते ज्ञापनों पर हस्ताक्षर हुए। इनमें एक रेलवे के क्षेत्र में विशेष तकनीकी और दूसरा विज्ञान और तकनीकी के मामलों में सहयोग के बारे में है। स्विटजरलैंड के साथ वित्तीय क्षेत्र में भी सहमति पत्र पर हस्ताक्षर हुए। इससे दोनों देशों के बीच आर्थिक संबंधों के विभिन्न पहलुओं पर आदान-प्रदान में काफी सहुलियत होगी। ऑस्ट्रिया और स्विटजरलैंड ने भी भारत के साथ शैक्षिक, सांस्कृतिक और पर्यटन के क्षेत्रों में आपसी संपर्क को बढ़ावा देने के लिए सहमति जताई। बीना जैन के साथ आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए दिल्ली से कृष्ण कुमार लाल।

आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री एन किरण कुमार रेड्डी आज नई दिल्ली में कांग्रेस के केन्द्रीय नेताओं के साथ तेलंगाना मुद्दे पर बातचीत करेंगे। उपमुख्यमंत्री बी. राजा नरसिंम्हा, प्रदेश कांग्रेस प्रमुख बी. सत्यनारायणन और प्रदेश कांग्रेस के नेता डी श्रीनिवास भी विचार विमर्श के लिए दिल्ली में होंगे। राज्यपाल ई. एस.एल नरसिम्हन प्रधानमंत्री डॉ० मनमोहन सिंह, गृहमंत्री पी. चिदम्बरम के साथ मुलाकात के लिए पहले से दिल्ली में हैं।
इस बीच, तेलंगाना क्षेत्र में जारी हड़ताल का आज २६वां दिन है। तेलंगाना मुद्दे पर कल शाम कांग्रेस नेताओं ने दिल्ली में व्यापक विचार विमर्श किया।
दूसरी तरफ तेलंगाना संयुक्त कार्य समिति ने १२ से १४ अक्तूबर तक तीन दिन का रेल रोको आंदोलन स्थगित कर दिया है।

सिक्किम में पिछले महीने आए विनाशकारी भूकम्प से तबाही का जायजा लेने के लिए नौ सदस्यों का एक केन्द्रीय दल, गृह मंत्रालय में संयुक्त सचिव (उत्तर पूर्व) शम्भू सिंह के नेतृत्व में आज राज्य के उत्तरी जिले में जोनगू ;क््रवदहनद्ध जा रहा है। यह दल राज्य के अन्य भागों का भी दौरा कर भूकम्प से हुए नुकसान के बारे में अन्तिम रिपोर्ट तैयार करेगा। श्री सिंह की अध्यक्षता में केन्द्रीय आकलन दल कल दक्षिण तथा पश्चिम जिलों का भी दौरा करेगा। गंगतोक वापस आकर दल के सदस्य मुख्य सचिव से भेंट करेंगे। उधर पांच सदस्यों वाला केन्द्रीय विशेषज्ञ दल राज्य के भूकम्प की संभावना वाले क्षेत्रों में घर और इमारतें बनाने की उपाय सुझाएगा। इस बीच उत्तर जिलें में मंघन, चुंगथान, मारपद्र तुंग तथा चुंगथान के बीच के सड़क को बहाल करने की कोशिशें जारी हैं। पूरे मंघन चुंगथान लाचेन मार्ग परसों तक और मंघन चुंगथान लाचुन मार्ग को अगले शनिवार तक बहाल कर लिए जाने की उम्मीद है। विनय राज तिवारी आकाशवाणी समाचार गंगतोक।

चेन्नई हवाई अड्डे पर उतरते हुए कल देर रात किंगफिशर एयरलाइंस के विमान के पहिये का टायर फट गया। लेकिन उसमें सवार तेरह यात्री बच गये। यह विमान चेन्नई से तिरूचिरापल्ली जा रहा था। हवाई अड्डा अधिकारियों ने बताया कि विमान भारी बारिश के कारण तिरूचिरापल्ली में नहीं उतर पाया और उसे चेन्नई लौटना पड़ा। ------

इस वर्ष भारत से करीब एक लाख पच्चीस हजार यात्री, हज के लिए जायेंगे। केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में फैसला लिया गया कि प्रत्येक हज यात्री से १६ हजार रुपये रियायती किराया लिया जायेगा। इस वर्ष हज यात्रियों के जाने के लिए २१ स्थान निश्चित किए गये हैं। हज यात्रियों को ले जाने के लिए सऊदी अरेबियन एयरलाइंस और दक्षिण अफ्रीका की नेशनल एयर सर्विसेस के साथ करार किया गया है। ------
उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने होमगार्ड स्वयंसेवियों और उनके परिवारों की मदद के लिए दो करोड़ रूपये की शुरूआती राशि से कोष बनाया है। राज्य सरकार ने स्वयंसेवियों के लिए दैनिक भत्ता १४० से बढ़ाकर १६० रूपये प्रतिदिन करने की भी घोषणा की। ------

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has renewed the government's commitment to maintain highest safety standards in the nuclear power plants across the country. In a letter to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on the Kudankulam Nuclear Power plant issue, Dr Singh said there will be no compromise on safety aspects and livelihood in the pursuit of nuclear energy programme. Dr Singh said, Kudankulam project has gone through detailed and exhaustive safety reviews and clearances have been given by all statutory authorities. He said, a number of welfare projects have been implemented by the Nuclear Power Corporation in the areas adjoining the plant. The Prime Minister also said that tapping all energy sources and diversifying the energy mix is important to meet the growing energy demand in the country.
A 22 member delegation comprising of political leaders and activists of the People’s movement against Kudankulam Atomic Power project in Tamil Nadu, had met the Prime Minister yesterday. Dr Singh assured them to set up a Committee to look into safety aspects of the project. Talking to reporters after the meeting, CPI Leader D Raja said, the Prime Minister informed that the Committee will consist of representatives from the Centre, the State and members protesting against the project.

The government plans to allow reopening of income tax returns of past 16 years of suspected assessees, instead of 6 years as at present. The move is aimed at strengthening the mechanism to investigate black money cases. A Finance Ministry official said in New Delhi that extension of the period of reopening of returns is to unearth undisclosed income and to empower tax officials to go deeper into the income and expenditure details of suspected persons and business firms.
The government is likely to amend the Income Tax Act of 1961 which allows tax officials to reassess tax returns only upto past six years now.

The government has unveiled the draft policy on information technology for the year 2011. The draft policy aims at creating a pool of extra 10 million skilled manpower by 2020 and strengthening India's position as a global IT power. Announcing the draft policy, Communications and Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal said that the passage of the Bill will also help in dealing with the problems of corruption.
"I think that we will be able to achieve the objectives that I have set out by 2020 and if this along with electronics manufacturing policy and the telecom sector move in tendom, this triad can be the platform for economic growth in India and for equity and to challenge and to deal with the problems of corruption.
Mr Sibal said, the government is keen to make at least one individual in every household electronically-literate.
"We want one individual in every hours hold to be E-literate. Than and another important objective is that all public services should be mandatorily delivered, but they should be accessible and affordable that's where the aam aadmi will benefit and that's our objective."

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will hold talks on the Telangana issue with the central leadership of Congress Party in New Delhi today. Deputy Chief Minister D Rajanarasimha, Pradesh Congress Chief B Satyanarayana and former PCC leader D Srinivas will also be in New Delhi for consultations. In Sikkim, a nine member Central Assessment Team to assess damages caused by the earthquake led by Joint Secretary (North East) in the Ministry of Home Affairs Shambhu Singh is leaving for Dzongu in North district today. The team will visit some other places also to make a final assessment of the damages caused by last month's devastating earthquake. On the other hand, a five member Central Expert Team of structural engineers and officials from the National Bamboo Mission has already visited the earthquake hit areas of the North district. Meanwhile, efforts are on to reopen the Toong-Chungthang stretch on the Mangan-Chungthand Road in the North district. The entire Managn-Chungthang -Lachen road is expected to be restored by the 10th October while the Managn-Chungthang -Lachung road may be restored by the 15th of this month. Thirteen passengers and four crew members of private airlines escaped unhurt as the front tyres of the aircraft burst while touching down at Chennai airport shortly after midnight last night. The aircraft which departed for Tiruchi at 10.30 pm could not land there due to inclement weather and returned to Chennai. The airport authorities said that the runway was closed till the aitcraft was cleared. Flights were diverted till 3.00 am.

The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has said India has taken a number of measures to deal with the problem of corruption. She said, the Lokpal Bill is before Parliament and there is no doubt that the government is very sincere in passing it and bringing it into force. Mrs Patil was talking to the media on board the special aircraft on the way back home from her 8 day visit to Austria and Switzerland. On the issue of Double taxation Avoidance Agreement, she asked the Swiss Government to ensure that the protocol is entered into force expeditiously. She said, India is actively considering becoming a member of International anti-corruption agency which started functioning in Vienna from March this year.
"Lot of other measures also have been taken. Regarding RTI is there, then this double tax avoidance agreement also. India is very keen about it. India has already ratified that and I took up this issues with these two governments also. So all the measures which are necessary to curb corruption and combat corruption, government of India is taking and that is the reason why India is actively considering to become the member of this Anti Corruption Academy, which has been started by Austria."
About the issue of reforms in the United Nations, Mrs. Patil said both Switzerland and Austria share India’s view that there is an urgent need for reforms of the United Nations.
"Both Switzerland and Austria are active in international fora. I was happy that both governments share our view that there is an urgent need for reforms of the United Nations. They acknowledge that India's candidacy for a permanent seat in the expanded security council was unequivocally strong and legitimate. I feel that my state visit to Switzerland and Austria has been extremely fruitful. The understanding that I reached in my discussions will lead to further consolidation of our ties with Switzerland and Austria particularly giving a boost to the economic pillar of our relationship."
Pointing out that the menace of terrorism is an issue of concern to all, the President said it poses a serious threat to world peace and security. "The President has just concluded her successful State visit to the Swiss Confederation and the Republic of Austria. These countries are important partners of India in Central Europe. India shares with them core values as well as historical ties of friendship. This has resulted in close mutual understanding and cooperation on a wide range of issues, as also exchange of high level visits. The Indian delegation was received with exceptional warmth. आज सुबह आन्ध्रप्रदेश के राज्यपाल ई.एस.एल नरसिम्हन ने प्रधानमंत्री से उनके निवास पर मुलाकात कर तेलंगाना मुद्दे पर चर्चा की। मुख्यमंत्री किरन कुमार रेड्डी के बाद में प्रधानमंत्री से मिलने की संभावना है।
तेलंगाना संयुक्त कार्रवाई समिति की संचालन समिति ने भी अपनी भावी कार्यवाही पर विचार विमर्श के लिए आज तीसरे पहर बैठक बुलाई है। इस बीच तेलंगाना को राज्य का दर्जा देने के समर्थन में चल रही आम हड़ताल आज २६ वें दिन भी जारी है।
मौजूदा आयकर नियमों के तहत आयकर अधिकारियों को केवल पिछले छह वर्षों के आयकर रिटर्न की जांच करने की अनुमति है और यह अवधि बढ़ाने के लिये सरकार आयकर अधिनियम १९६१ में संशोधन कर सकती है ।
सर्तकता अधिकारियों ने इससे पहले भूमि घोटालों की शिकायतों को लेकर के. पोनमुदी, वीरापांडी एस अरूमुगम, के.एन. नेहरू, एन.के.के पी. राजा और एम. आर. के. पनेरसेलवम के परिसरों पर भी छापे मारे थे।

सरकार, आयकर अधिकारियों को संदिग्ध करदाताओं के पिछले १६ वर्ष के आयकर रिटर्न की दोबारा जांच की अनुमति देने पर विचार कर रही है। इसका उद्देश्य कालेधन के मामले की जांच व्यवस्था को मजबूत करना है। वित्त मंत्रालय के एक अधिकारी ने नई दिल्ली में कहा कि पिछले रिटर्न की जांच अवधि इसलिए बढ़ाई जा रही है ताकि आयकर आधिकारी संदिग्ध लोगों और फर्मों की आय तथा खर्च की व्यापक जांच कर सकें।मौजूदा आयकर नियमों के तहत आयकर अधिकारियों को केवल पिछले छह वर्षों के आयकर रिटर्न की जांच करने की अनुमति है और यह अवधि बढ़ाने के लिये सरकार आयकर अधिनियम १९६१ में संशोधन कर सकती है ।

अफगानिस्तान में पाकिस्तान सीमा से लगे पूर्वी पकतिका सूबे में नैटो गठबंधन सेना ने अपने सैन्य अड्डों पर कल आतंकवादियों के एक हमले को विफल करते हुए २५ आतंकवादियों को मार गिराया। अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा बलों की विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि आतंकवादियों ने सूबे के गोरमाल, सारोबी और बड़माल जिलों में कई जगह से हमले किए। गठबंधन सेना ने अपने सैन्य अड्डे के पास आने से पहले ही आतंकवादियों की गाड़ी में रखे हुए बम को नष्ट कर दिया। इस कार्रवाई में गठबंधन सेना का एक सदस्य भी घायल हुआ है। जानमाल के किसी नुकसान की खबर नहीं है।------
अमरीका ने अफगानिस्तान में भारत द्वारा निभाई जा रही महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका की सराहना की है। उसने कहा है कि भारत सरकार इस युद्धग्रस्त देश के सुरक्षा बलों को प्रशिक्षण देने में मदद कर रही है ताकि वहां स्थिति सुधर सके। वॉशिंगटन में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में रक्षा कार्यालय के प्रवक्ता कैप्टन जॉन किर्बी ने कहा कि अफगानिस्तान में सुरक्षा और स्थिरता में ही इस क्षेत्र की भलाई है और इस उद्देश्य को अफगानिस्तान के मजबूत सुरक्षा बलों के जरिये प्राप्त किया जा सकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस काम में भारत इस समय महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा रहा है।------
संयुक्त राष्ट्र का कहना है कि सीरिया में राष्ट्रपति बसर अल असद को हटाने के लिए जो विरोध प्रदर्शन हो रहे हैं, उन्हें दबाने के लिए की गई हिंसक कार्रवाई में कम से कम १८७ बच्चों की मौत हो चुकी है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र बाल अधिकार समिति ने मार्च २०११ से शुरू हुए विरोध प्रदर्शनों के बाद से बाल अधिकारों के भारी उल्लंघन को लेकर गहरी चिन्ता व्यक्त की है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र के अनुसार यह अनुमान लगाया गया है कि मार्च के मध्य से अब तक सीरिया की सेना की कार्रवाई में दो हजार, नौ सौ से अधिक लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है।------
हजारों अमरीकी और यूरोपीय उपभोक्ताओं के निजी क्रेडिट कार्डों की सूचनाओं की चोरी के सिलसिले में न्यूयॉर्क में अधिकारियों ने १११ लोगों को दोषी पाया है। ये लोग ऐसी सूचनाओं की चोरी के लिए पांच संस्थान चला रहे थे। अमरीका के इतिहास में अपने ढंग की चोरी की यह सबसे बड़ी घटना है। क्वीन्स में जिला एटॉर्नी कार्यालय के एक वक्तव्य में बताया गया है कि यह आपराधिक संस्थान इस क्षेत्र में काम कर रहे थे और यूरोप, एशिया, अफ्रीका तथा पश्चिम एशिया तक इनके तार फैले हुए थे।------
थाईलैण्ड में बेतहाशा बाढ़ से स्थिति बिगड़ने के आसार हैं। बड़े पैमाने पर पानी देश के उत्तरी भाग से समुद्र की ओर बह रहा है। इस मौसम की बाढ़ का २५ लाख से अधिक लोगों पर असर पड़ा है और कम से कम २५२ लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है। बताया जाता है कि हाल के समय में यह देश की सबसे भयंकर बाढ़ है।------
इधर, बिहार में बाढ़ग्रस्त क्षेत्रों में जनजीवन सामान्य हो रहा है। उत्तर बिहार में कोसी और अधवारा नदियों में जलस्तर नीचे आया है। इसके साथ ही मधुबनी, मुजफ्फरपुर और भागलपुर जिलों के बाढ़ग्रस्त क्षेत्रों में जमा पानी घटने लगा है, हालांकि दरभंगा, शिवहर और सीतामढ़ी के कुछ गांव अब भी जलमग्न हैं। राहत सामग्री बांटने का काम जारी है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि स्वास्थ्य विभाग बीमारी से बचाव के लिए हर संभव प्रयास कर रहा है।बाढ़ प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में राहत कार्य के अलावा बाढ़ के बाद उससे उत्पन्न होने वाली बीमारियों की आशंका के मद्देनजर स्वास्थ्य उपाय किए जा रहे हैं। प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में डीडीटी का छिड़काव जारी है। मधुवानी से लेकर बिनी पट्टी सहित अन्य गांवों में चिकित्सा दल दौरा कर रहा है। सीतामणि सिवर जिले के अलावा बाढ़ से क्षतिग्रस्त प्रमुख सड़कों और आपसी राजमार्गों की मरम्मती का काम जारी है। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए पटना से संजय कुमार।

राजस्थान में उदयपुर के पास सोहराबुद्दीन शेख गैंग का एक सदस्य पुलिस को चकमा देकर भाग गया। उसे अदालत में पेशी के लिए ले जाया गया था। पुलिस सूत्रों के अनुसार पुलिस की टीम उदयपुर से लौट रही थी। रास्ते में जलपान के लिए रूकने पर सिलवेस्टर भाग निकलने में कामयाब हो गया। सोहराबुद्दीन शेख गुजरात पुलिस के साथ फर्जी मुठभेड़ में मारा गया था और बाद में उसकी पत्नी कौसर बी की हत्या कर दी गई थी।सिलवेस्टर वड़ोदरा की जेल में बंद था और उसे अदालत में पेशी के लिए उदयपुर लाया गया था। बड़ोदरा से मिली खबरों में कहा गया है कि सिलवेस्टर को पकड़ने के लिए पुलिस की एक टीम राजस्थान भेजी जाएगी।
सिलवेस्टर पर फिरौती के लिए शहर के पॉपुलर बिल्डर्स के दफ्तर पर गोलीबारी करने का आरोप है। वह सोहराबुद्दीन शेख फर्जी मुठभेड़ मामले में सीबीआई के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण गवाह है।

जम्मू-कश्मीर में सुरक्षा बलों ने जम्मू डिवीजन के डोडा जिले में हिज+बुल मुजाहिद्दीन के एक आतंकवादी को मार गिराया। डोडा के वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधीक्षक ने हमारे संवाददाता को बताया कि मरमत में इस आतंकवादी के होने की सूचना मिलने पर पुलिस और सेना ने उसे पकड़ने के लिए आज तड़के संयुक्त अभियान चलाया। गश्ती दल को देखकर आतंकवादी ने गोलियां चलानी शुरू कर दी। जवाबी कार्रवाई में आतंकवादी मारा गया। उसके पास से एक पिस्तौल, दो मैगजीन और ११ राउंड गोलियां बरामद की गईं।------
चार साल की शांति के बाद माओवादियों ने आज ओड़िशा के सम्बलपुर जिले में तमपारासिंगा के पास जंगलों में सुरक्षाबलों के साथ एक घंटे तक भीषण लड़ाई की। पुलिस के अनुसार केन्द्रीय आरक्षी पुलिस बल और नक्सल विरोधी एस.ओ.जी. के कार्यकर्ता कुइलीझारन के पास जंगलों में आज सुबह सात बजे तलाशी अभियान चला रहे थे, जब उन पर माओवादियों ने गोलियां चलाईं। सुरक्षाबलों ने जवाबी कार्रवाई की और एक घंटे से भी अधिक समय तक लड़ाई चलती रही। माना जा रहा है कि माओवादी जंगलों में जा छिपे हैं। पुलिस ने बताया कि इस घटना में कोई भी सुरक्षाकर्मी घायल नहीं हुआ है। किसी माओवादी के हताहत होने के बारे में कोई जानकारी नहीं है।------

उत्तरप्रदेश में आज सवेरे बिजनौर जिले में सियोहारा में एक मालगाड़ी के इंजन सहित लगभग १५ डिब्बे पटरी से उतर गये। इसकी वजह से मुरादाबाद रेल डिवीजन के तहत सहारनपुर-मुरादाबाद मार्ग पर रेल यातायात पर असर पड़ा। उत्तरी रेलवे के सूत्रों ने आकाशवाणी को बताया कि यह खाली मालगाड़ी अम्बाला जा रही थी। इस दुर्घटना से रेल पटरियां भी क्षतिग्रस्त हो गई हैं। लम्बी दूरी की कम से कम आठ एक्सप्रैस और मेल रेलगाड़ियों का मार्ग बदल दिया गया है और कुछ रेलगाड़ियों को उनके गन्तव्य से पहले ही रोक दिया गया ।------
मौजूदा वित्त वर्ष की पहली छिमाही में पिछले वित्त वर्ष की इसी अवधि के मुकाबले सकल प्रत्यक्ष करों की वसूली में २३ प्रतिशत की वृद्धि हुई है। इसी तरह कुल प्रत्यक्ष करों की वसूली में सात फीसदी से भी अधिक की बढ़ोत्तरी हुई है। वित्त मंत्रालय द्वारा जारी किये गये आंकड़ों में यह जानकारी दी गई है।------

The Congress Core Group meeting is in progress in New Delhi to arrive at a consensus on the issue of separate statehood for Telengana. The meeting is being attended by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister P Chidambaram, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Defence Minister A K Antony amongst other leaders. Earlier the Andhra pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy met the members of the core group. Emerging out of the meeting, Minister of State for defence Mr M Pallam Raju said that the party wants an early resolution of the issue. In the morning, Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan met Prime Minister at his residence to discuss the Telengana issue. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is also expected to meet the Prime Minister later in the day.

Congress Parliament members from Telangana region have held a meeting in Hyderabad to discuss the fresh developments in Delhi . In a related development, the steering committee of the Telangana Joint Action Committee has also convened a meeting this afternoon to discuss its future course of action. Meanwhile, the ongoing General Strike in support of the statehood is continuing on the 26th day today.

The Government plans to allow reopening of income tax returns of past 16 years of suspected assesses, instead of the 6 years as at present. The move is aimed at strengthening the mechanism to investigate black money cases. A Finance Ministry official said in New Delhi that extension of the period of reopening of returns is to unearth undisclosed income and to empower tax officials to go deeper into the income and expenditure details of suspected persons and business firms.
The government is likely to amend the Income Tax Act of 1961 which allows tax officials to reassess tax returns only up to past six years as of now.

Gross Direct Tax collections during the first half of the current fiscal increased by 23 percent compared to the corresponding period last fiscal. The Net Direct taxes in the same period grew by over seven percent. Net direct taxes are calculated by deducting refunds from the Gross taxes. According to the data released by the Finance Ministry, gross tax collection from April to September this year stood at over 2,57,000 crore rupees. The increase in gross taxes was driven by higher corporate tax collection which increased by 23 percent over last year. Personal income tax collection registered an increase of over 22 percent during this time.

He said that the governments aims at generating 50 crore skilled manpower by the year 2022 to bridge the demand and supply mismatch. He said that the country needs 9 million skilled workforce annually and at present the availability is only 3 million. Vigilance and Anti Corruption officials today conducted searches at seven premises of DMK leader and former minister Suresh Rajan in Kanyamkumari and Tirunelveli districts on charges of possessing disproportionate assets. He is the sixth former DMK minister to come under the scanner. According to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption, searches were conducted at Rajan's residence, steel factory, fish net factory and its office premises and other places. Vigilance officials had earlier conducted raids at the premises of K Ponmudi, Veerapandi S Arumugam, K N Nehru, N K K P Raja and M R K Paannerselvam following complaints of land grabbing.

In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces today gunned down a Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorist in mountainous Doda district of Jammu Division. Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, told AIR Jammu Correspondent that acting on specific information about the presence of the ultra in remote area of Marmat, police and the army launched a joint operation during the wee hours today to track him down. On seeing the patrol party, the terrorist opened fire which was retaliated and in the exchange of fire, he was killed. One Pistol, 2 magazines and 11 rounds were recovered from his possession. According to SSP, Doda, with his killing the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist outfit has been completely wiped out from mountainous Doda district as he was the only surviving terrorist of the Pro-Pak outfit.

After a lull of four years, Maoists today struck in Orissa's Sambalpur district engaging security forces in an hour-long fierce gunbattle in the forests near Tamparasinga. According to police, a team comprising CRPF and elite anti-Naxal SOG personnel of Orissa were conducting combing operations in the forests when they were fired upon by the ultras near Kuilijharan around 7 am. The security men retaliated and the gun-battle continued for over an hour. The ultras are believed to have retreated into the woods. Police said, no security personnel was injured in the incident. Casualties in the ranks of the rebels was not known. Meanwhile, police personnel engaged in anti-Maoists operation in the district have been mobilised in the area and Superintendent of Police Nikhil Kanodia was camping at nearby police station at Kisinda to supervise the operation.

The Indian Air Force, IAF, Chief N A K Browne today said that the security environment in India's neighbourhood is extremely fragile which is a major concern. He said, it warrants close monitoring and air vigilance. He also noted that inimical intentions of the country's adversaries are being strengthened by radicalism. The Air Chief Marshal was addressing the 79th Air Force Day parade in Hindon near Delhi. Stressing on ensuring the security of all important assets of the country, the IAF chief said that security of defence forces' information networks was also absolutely critical, which was being upgraded to meet the challenge. He said that the IAF, is in the last lap of finalising its multi-billion dollar combat aircraft deal for which commercial bids of two short listed vendors would be opened by the 18th of this month. Speaking on other important IAF modernisation programmes, the IAF Chief said, the C-130J Hercules and the Airborne Early Warning and Control System have been inducted and operationalised in good time. He said, the planned induction of the C-17 Heavy lift aircraft along with medium and heavy lift choppers will increase IAF's operational flexibility. On the upgrade programmes involving the fighter and transport aircraft, Chief Air Marshal said, upgrades of Jaguar, Mirage 2000 and MiG 29 fighter aircraft along with An-32 transport aircraft are underway and will help in enhancing their operational relevance. It was a riot of colours and breathtaking display of dare devil manoeuvres in the sky at Hindon airbase with a new all-women sky-diving team showcasing its first performance. This is the first all-women sky-diving team of any defence force in the world. The show commenced with fly past of Mi-17 helicopters in VIC formation trooping the Air Force Ensign followed by CHAKRA formation by Mi-35. Recently acquired C 130J Hercules aircraft and AN-32 aircraft appeared in VIC and SPECTRUM formation which had two Avro and two Dornier aircraft flying past in ARROWHEAD formation. The fighter flypast was led by three JAGUAR aircraft followed by MiG-21, MiG-29, Mirage 2000 and Sukhoi-30. The grand finale was marked by display of aerobatics by Sarang Helicopter display team. In Sikkim, a nine member Central Assessment Team led by the Joint Secretary ( North East) in the Ministry of Home Affairs Mr. Shambhu Singh is visiting the North district today. The team will make a final assessment of the damages caused by the last months devastating earthquake in the worst hit district. On the other hand, the State Human Resource Development department is working hard to ensure that all the 779 government schools, damaged in the earthquake, resume their classes from the next Monday. "The Central Assessment Team led by Mr. Singh has now been divided in two groups. Six of its members including Mr.Singh is travelling by a chopper and are scheduled to visit Chungthang, Shepgyar,Saffo,Namprikdang and Lingzya and to have a meeting with the District Collector of the North district. Another, three members of the team are travelling by road and will assess the damages to the roads ,to drinking water supply lines and to the agriculture in the district. Classes have been suspended in all the government schools since the very next day the killer earthquake jolted the State, in the evening on the 18th of the last month. More than 1600 temporary classrooms are being constructed with a capacity to accommodate some 30 students each. These arrangements will continue till permanent structures come up. Life is returning to normal in the flood affected areas of Bihar. There has been a considerable fall in the water level of most of the North Bihar rivers including Kosi and Adhwara. Owing to this, flood water has started receding in Madhubani, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur districts. However, inundation continues in some of the villages of Darbhanga, Sheohar and Sitamarhi. Large scale distribution of relief materials is going on. Our Correspondent reports that Health officials are sprinkling DDT to prevent any possible outbreak of water borne diseases in the flood affected areas.
Repair of damaged embankments is going on in Sheohar and Sitamarhi districts. Roads and national highways damaged during floods are also being repaired in these areas. In Thailand, record flooding is set to worsen as massive volumes of water move from the country's north towards the sea. More than 2.5 million people have now been affected and at least 252 killed by the flooding this season, which is said to be the worst in the country's modern history. Predicted high tides along with more rain and swollen waterways also mean Bangkok is now under threat. In Nonthaburi on the northern outskirts of Bangkok the swollen Chao Praya River is already overflowing. Just a little further north, temples, factories and homes are already underwater in the ancient city of Ayutthaya. Thousands of acres of paddy fields are inundated and the overall damage to industry is around 1 billion dollars.

In Afghanistan, the NATO Coalition forces foiled an insurgent attack on its bases near eastern Paktika province bordering Pakistan yesterday, killing at least 25 insurgents. A press release issued by the International Security Assistance Force describes it as the largest coordinated insurgent attack against its bases since 2009. The release says the insurgents used indirect fire from multiple locations in the Gormal, Sarobi and Barmal districts of the province. The coalition troops identified and destroyed an insurgent vehicle bomb before it could get close enough to the base. One Coalition member was slightly wounded in the operation. There were no reports of civilian damage or casualties.

Applauding India's key role in Afghanistan, the US has said that New Delhi has been helpful in providing training to the security forces of the war-torn country to help improve the situation there. Talking to reporters in Washington, Pentagon spokesman, Capt John Kirby noted that a secure and stable Afghanistan is good for the region and this can be achieved by having a strong Afghan security force, in which India is playing a key role now.

The United Nations says, at least 187 children have been killed since Syria launched a brutal crackdown on protestors calling for President Bashar al-Assad's ouster. The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) expressed its deepest concern over credible, corroborated and consistent reports of gross violations of children's rights which are being committed since the start of the uprising in March 2011. It said, these included arbitrary arrests and detentions, killings of children during demonstrations, torture and ill treatment. CRC asked Damascus to take immediate measures to stop the use of excessive and lethal forces against civilians and to prevent further violence against children, including killings and injuring.

Loud explosions have been heard in the Libyan town of Sirte where troops loyal to Col. Gaddafi are still holding out against anti-Gaddafi forces. The sustained offensive of yesterday saw fighters of the anti-Gaddafi Transitional Council advance into the town centre pushing the Gaddafi loyalists into an area measuring some two or three square kilometres. According to a report from Sirte, the resistance is being put up by Gaddafi loyalists inside Sirte. They are putting up extraordinary resistance and the Government forces are having to pound them going block by block.

Back Home, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has impressed upon the administration to ensure implementation of Public Service Guarantee Act, PSGA in letter and spirit. While reviewing the progress of implementation of PSGA at a high level meeting in Srinagar, he said that he would himself monitor the functioning of departments identified under the Act for providing time bound services to the people. The Chief Minister said that there is an urgent need for making general people aware of their rights of receiving public service within the prescribed time frame.

In Kerala, the first phase of the Kochi Smart City Project will be completed within two years. This was stated by the State Chief Minister Mr Ommen Chandy while addressing a function to mark the beginning of the work on the Pavilion of the Smart City project in Kochi this morning. He said the first phase will be taken up soon after the work on the pavilion is completed within 14 weeks. The Kochi Smart City is an IT infrastructure project jointly promoted by the Kerala Government and the Dubai based Tecom Investments. The entire project envisages a total investment of 2000 crore rupees, and is expected to generate 90,000 jobs.

Under the JNNURM, construction of six thousand houses has been completed in Bhopal , Indore , Ujjain and Jabalpur while more than 20 thousand houses are under construction. A sum of 704 crore has been sanctioned for 22 housing scheme in these cities. The Jammu and Kashmir Government will soon set up a 200-bed Gynecology hospital in Jammu as part of its efforts to provide best possible medicare facilities to people of the State. This Hospital will come up at an estimated cost of 67 crore rupees. This was stated by J&K Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma in Jammu. He said, the Central Government has released 10 crore rupees for this prestigious project.

The authorities in the Netherlands have announced plans to ban the country's famous Coffee shops from selling high strength cannabis. They want to re-classify it as hard drug in the same category as cocaine. According to a report from The Hague, the Dutch government is to reclassify the high strength cannabis known as "shunk". Critics say the amount of the main active chemical, THC, has gone up which means it is far more potent than a generation ago. The politicians say it is more dangerous than it was before. Now anything containing more than 15 per cent THC will be treated the same as hard drug such as cocaine and ecstasy. The move is a big blow to the coffee shops and means they will have to replace around 80 per cent of their stocks with weaker varieties.

आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री किरण कुमार रेड्डी ने कहा है कि केन्द्र, अलग तेलंगाना राज्य के मुद्दे का सौहार्दपूर्वक समाधान जल्द निकाल लेगा। उन्होंने नई दिल्ली में पत्रकारों से कहा कि यह मुद्दा हल करने के लिए विचार-विमर्श जारी है।तेलंगाना का यह मुद्दा लम्बे समय से है, लेकिन लगातार आंदोलन के कारण केन्द्रीय नेता इसपर विचार कर रहे हैं और मैं समझता हूं कि वे जितना जल्दी संभव हो इसका समाधान निकालेंगे।
मुख्यमंत्री ने इस अटकल को खारिज कर दिया कि आंध्र प्रदेश में राष्ट्रपति शासन के आसार बन रहे हैं। इससे पहले श्री रेड्डी ने केन्द्रीय मंत्रियों- प्रणब मुखर्जी, ए० के० एंटनी, पी० चिदम्बरम और गुलाम नबी आजाद से बातचीत की। राज्य के उप मुख्यमंत्री दामोदर नरसिम्हा भी उनके साथ थे। मुख्यमंत्री ने तेलंगाना क्षेत्र से सांसद, केन्द्रीय मंत्री जयपाल रेड्डी से भी मुलाकात की। बाद में श्री जयपाल रेड्डी ने बताया कि उन्होंने अपने सहयोगियों के साथ इस मुद्दे पर चर्चा की है और उन्हें आंध्र प्रदेश की स्थिति के बारे में अपनी राय बताई है। केन्द्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री और कांग्रेस के आंध्र प्रदेश प्रभारी गुलाम नबी आजाद ने कहा कि पिछले तीन दिनों से जो कुछ भी हो रहा है वह व्यापक विचार-विमर्श प्रक्रिया का हिस्सा है। आकाशवाणी के संवाददाता ने बताया है कि दिल्ली में केन्द्रीय नेताओं के साथ विचार मंथन को देखते हुए हैदराबाद में भी राजनीतिक हलचल बढ़ गई है। तेलंगाना क्षेत्र के कांगे्रस सांसदों ने कहा है कि अगर तेलंगाना को अलग राज्य का दर्जा देने के खिलाफ कोई फैसला लिया जाता है, तो वे अनिश्चितकालीन अनशन करेंगे। दूसरी ओर तेलुगूदेशम पार्टी के अध्यक्ष चन्द्रबाबू नायडू ने पार्टी की बैठक में कहा कि अगर केन्द्र, तेलंगाना को राज्य का दर्जा देने का फैसला करता है तो उनकी पार्टी इसका विरोध नहीं करेंगी। इस बीच, तेलंगाना क्षेत्र मे आम हड़ताल का आज छब्बीसवां दिन है।

केन्द्र के नौ सदस्यों के दल ने आज सिक्किम में भूकम्प से हुए नुकसान का जायजा लेने के लिए उत्तरी जिले का दौरा किया। गृह मंत्रालय में संयुक्त सचिव शंभू सिंह के नेतृत्व में ये दल भूकम्प से हुए नुकसान का अंतिम आकलन कर रहा है। इसबीच, बुनियादी ढांचा परियोजनाओं के विशेषज्ञ इंजीनियरों और अधिकारियों का एक केन्द्रीय दल बृहस्पतिवार को उत्तरी जिले का जायजा लेने के बाद आज वापस दिल्ली रवाना हुआ। यह दल राज्य के भूकम्प वाले इलाकों में मजबूत भवनों और मकानों के निर्माण के उपाय सुझायेगा। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि भूकंप प्रभावित इलाकों में जनजीवन पूरी तरह सामान्य करने के लिए प्रयास जारी है।उत्तर जिले के लाचुन तथा चुंगथांग के ज्यादातर इलाकों में पानी और बिजली की अपूर्ति बहाल कर दी गई है। जिले में अब भी ऊचे पहाड़ी इलाकों में छातिन-सिथांगु और थांगु से मुहुथांग के बीच सेना के हैलिकाप्टर जरूरी समान पहुंचा रहे है। मानव संसाधन विकास विभाग इस बात की जीतोड़ कोशिश कर रहा है कि भूकंप से छतिग्रस्त हुए सभी ७७९ सरकारी स्कूलों में सोमवार से फिर पढ़ाई शुरू हो जाये। जिन जगहों पर स्कूलों की मरम्मत करना संभव नहीं है वहां १६०० से ज्यादा अस्थाई कक्षायें बनाई जा रही है।विनय राज तेवारी आकाशवाणी समाचार गंगटोक।

ओडिशा सरकार ने बाढ़ से खरीफ की फसलों के नुकसान की भरपाई के लिए किसानों को खाद और बीजों पर सब्सिडी देने का फैसला किया है। यह सब्सिडी जमीन मालिकों को नहीं मिलेगी। यह फैसला मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक की अध्यक्षता में हुई एक बैठक में किया गया। बाद में राजस्व और आपदा प्रबंधन मंत्री एस. एन. पात्रो ने बताया कि ग्राम समितियां लाभार्थी किसानों की पहचान करेगी। प्रारंभिक अनुमान के अनुसार राज्य में बाढ़ के कारण लगभग तीन लाख ३८ हजार हेक्टयर में खड़ी फसलों को नुकसान पहुंचा है।----------
राजस्थान में उदयपुर के पास सोहराबुद्दीन शेख गैंग का एक सदस्य पुलिस को चकमा देकर भाग गया। उसे अदालत में पेशी के लिए ले जाया गया था। पुलिस सूत्रों के अनुसार पुलिस की टीम उदयपुर से लौट रही थी। रास्ते में जलपान के लिए रूकने पर सिलवेस्टर भाग निकलने में कामयाब हो गया। सोहराबुद्दीन शेख गुजरात पुलिस के साथ फर्जी मुठभेड़ में मारा गया था और बाद में उसकी पत्नी कौसर बी की हत्या कर दी गई थी। सिलवेस्टर वड़ोदरा की जेल में बंद था और उसे अदालत में पेशी के लिए उदयपुर लाया गया था। बड़ोदरा से मिली खबरों में कहा गया है कि सिलवेस्टर को पकड़ने के लिए पुलिस की एक टीम राजस्थान भेजी जाएगी।सिलवेस्टर पर फिरौती के लिए शहर के पॉपुलर बिल्डर्स के दफ्तर पर गोलीबारी करने का आरोप है। वह सोहराबुद्दीन शेख फर्जी मुठभेड़ मामले में सीबीआई के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण गवाह है।

ओडिशा में दसमन्तपुर के पास जंगलों में आज सुबह माओवादियों और सुरक्षाबलों के बीच लगभग एक घंटे तक गोलीबारी हुई। पुलिस अधीक्षक निखिल कनोडिया ने बताया कि माओवादियों ने लगभग साढ़े सात बजे गोईगोथ के पास तलाशी अभियान में शामिल सी आर पी एफ, डिस्ट्रिक्ट वालंटियर्स फोर्स और एस ओ.जी. के संयुक्त दल पर गोलीबारी की। सुरक्षाबलों ने भी जवाबी कार्रवाई की। सुरक्षाबलों ने भी जवाबी कार्रवाई की। समझा जाता है कि माओवादी जंगलों में भाग गये हैं।----------
जम्मू कश्मीर के मुख्यमंत्री उमर अब्दुल्ला ने नेशनल कांफ्रेंस के कार्यकर्ता, हाजी सईद यूसुफ की कथित पुलिस हिरासत में मौत पर इस्तीफे की, विपक्षी पीडीपी की मांग नामंजूर कर दी हैं।श्री अब्दुल्ला ने कहा कि उनकी पार्टी के दो कार्यकर्ता अब्दुल सलाम रेशी और मोहम्मद यूसुफ भट्ट ने शिकायत की थी कि सैयद यूसुफ ने विधान परिषद की सदस्यता या मंत्री पद दिलाने के लिए उनसे एक करोड़ से अधिक रुपये लिये थे। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि उन्होंने गृह राज्यमंत्री नासिर वानी से पुलिस महानिदेशक राजा ऐजाज को बुलाकर हाजी सईद यूसुफ को पुलिस को सौंपने को कहा था। श्री अब्दुल्ला ने कहा कि इस मामले में उनकी भूमिका यहीं समाप्त हो गई। उन्होंने कहा कि यह दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है कि अगले दिन हाजी यूसुफ का दिल का दौरा पड़ने से मौत हो गई और विपक्षी दलों ने विवाद खड़ा कर दिया।

दिल्ली सर्राफा बाजार में आज सोने और चांदी की चमक फीकी रही। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाजारों में कमजोर रूख और स्टाकिस्टों की मुनाफा वसूली से सोना २५० रूपये कम होकर २६ हजार ६६० रूपये प्रति दस ग्राम पर आ गया। चांदी एक हजार २०० रूपये घटकर ५३ हजार रूपये प्रति किलोग्राम रही। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाजार में सोना १७ डालर घटकर एक हजार ६३६ डालर प्रति औंस पर आ गया , जबकि चांदी तीन दशमलव दो प्रतिशत कम होकर ३१ डालर प्रति औंस हो गयी।

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.Kiran Kumar Reddy says, the Centre will soon resolve the Telangana statehood issue in an amicable manner. Talking reporters in New Delhi after his consultations with the group of ministers he said the solution will satisfy the aspirations of the people of the state.
Due to the persistent agitation and what is going on there, the central leaders are having discussions and they will try to solve it as soon as possible.
Mr. Reddy dismissed suggestions that the Congress-ruled state is heading for President's rule. Earlier, he met senior Ministers Pranab Mukherjee, A K.Antony, P Chidambaram and Ghulam Nabi Azad. His Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Narasimha was also with him. He also had a meeting with Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy, who hails from Telangana region and others. Jaipal Reddy told reporters that he has interacted with his colleagues and gave them his frank assessment of the situation in Andhra Pradesh. Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Azad said whatever has been happening in the past three days part of the wider consultation process. He said the group of Ministers met the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, who also interacted with four union ministers representing Andhra Pradesh in the union council of ministers. Silvester, a member of the Soharabuddin Sheikh gang gave the police a slip from near Udaipur in Rajasthan, where he was taken for a court appearance. According to police, when the police party was returning from Udaipur they had stopped on the highway for tea and snacks and Silvester managed to run away from them. Sheikh was killed in a fake encounter by the Gujarat police and his wife Kausar Bi was also later murdered. Silvester was lodged in a jail in Vadodara and was being taken to Udaipur for a case appearance in court when he escaped. Silvester was an accused in a firing case at the office of Popular builders in the city for ransom. Our correspondent reports He could have been an important witness for the CBI which is investigating the Soharabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

A nine member Central Assessment team visited the quake hit North district of Sikkim today to asses the damages. The team led by Joint Secretary ( North East) in the Ministry of Home Affairs Shambhu Singh is touring the affected areas as part of their efforts to make a final assessment of the damages caused by last month’s devastating earthquake. On the other hand, a five member Central Expert Team of structural engineers and officials from the National Bamboo Mission, left Gangtok for Delhi this morning. The Team, which visited the earthquake hit areas of the North district on Thursday, will suggest ways and means for constructing buildings and houses in the earthquake prone areas in the State. In Odisha, Maoists today struck in Sambalpur district engaging security forces in an hour-long fierce gun battle in the forests near Tamparasinga. Superintendent of Police, Nikhil Kanodia said, a team comprising CRPF, District Volunteer Force and the elite anti-Naxal SOG personnel of Odisha were conducting combing operations in the forests when they were fired upon by the ultras near Gaigoth hill around 7.25 AM. The security men retaliated the fire and the gun-battle continued for over an hour. The ultras are believed to have retreated into the woods. More from our Correspondent:
After a lull of four year, Maoists struck Sambalpur district engaging the police force with 140 round of bullet firing in Gaigoth hill this morning. Yesterday, nearby villagers had spotted 30-35 Maoists including a few from Jharkhand roaming around in Ganakhaman forest to mobilize and regroup the Maoist cadres in the area. Police said, no security personnel was injured in the incident. Casualties in the ranks of the rebels were not known. During the operation police have seized three tiffin bombs, 2 bundle wire, Gun power, uniform, food and medicine. The Indian Air Force ,IAF, Chief N A K Browne today said that the security environment in India's neighborhood is extremely fragile which is a major concern. He said, it warrants close monitoring and air vigilance. He also noted that inimical intentions of the country's adversaries are being strengthened by radicalism. The Air Chief Marshal said this while addressing the 79th Air Force Day parade in Hindon near Delhi. Stressing on ensuring the security of all important assets of the country, the IAF chief said that security of defence forces' information networks was also absolutely critical, which was being upgraded to meet the challenge. He also said that the IAF, is in the last lap of finalizing its multi-billion dollar combat aircraft deal for which commercial bids of two short listed vendors would be opened by 18th of this month.

The President of Yemen Ali Abdullah Saleh has announced that he will leave power in the coming days. In an address over State Television he said he rejects power and will be leaving in the coming days. But he gave no precise date for standing down. Saleh stayed in power for months in the face of mass protests demanding his resignation. He appeared to have been ready to resign on several occasions but rejected deals to stand down. He returned to Yemen unexpectedly last month from Saudi Arabia where he had been receiving treatment after his office was shelled in June.

In Libya Forces of the interim authorities have renewed their attack on the centre of the city of Sirte one of the last pro-Gaddafi strong holds. Doctors say at least 12 people have been killed and many more wounded since anti-Gaddafi forces launched an all out assault on Sirte. Government fighters say they have advanced today on former leader Moammar Gadhafi's hometown of Sirte. Today's fighting centered around the Ouagadougou conference center, where pro-Gadhafi fighters are based. Meanwhile a heavy sandstorm covered the city today hindering the assault and disrupting efforts by residents trying to flee.

Syrian activists say the security forces opened fire at the funeral of a murdered Kurdish opposition leader killing at least 5 people. Mishaal al-Tammo was killed by masked gunmen yesterday who was a member of the Syrian opposition recently formed National Council. Thousands of his mainly Kurdish supporters took to the streets of the northern town of Qamishli and protests are being staged in other largely Kurdish towns.

A fortnight long India-Bangladesh Joint Military Exercise named Sampriti II is set to begin in Sylhet tomorrow. The exercise is part of efforts to establish goodwill and mutual cooperation between the armies of the two neighboring countries. Our Dhaka correspondent reports .
The India Bangladesh joint army Exercise named Sampriti II is being organized in the Jalalabad Cantonment of the Bangladesh army at Sylhet. The two week long exercise will begin on October 9th and conclude on October 22nd. The platoon level exercise is the second such joint exercise between the two armies being organized. Earlier last year in November, a 25 member team of Bangladesh Army participated in the first exercise of this kind called Sampriti I at Jorhat in Assam. The Sampriti Exercise series is focussed on developing professional expertise of both the armies in addition to strengthening military to military relationship between the two countries. Economic and commercial cooperation will be high on agenda during Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari's visit to Turkey starting on Monday. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi today, Secretary West, M Ganapathi said two way trade between the two countries touched 4 billion US dollar in 2010. He said, during Vice President Ansari's five day visit both the countries will discuss the entire gamut of bi-lateral, regional and international issues. Ganapathi said a joint study group has been examining the feasibility of setting up a Free Trade Agreement between India and Turkey.

In Afghanistan Nine armed insurgents were killed and 11 others arrested in a joint operation by the NATO and Afghan security forces in the eastern Laghman province. The Afghan interior ministry in Kabul today said arms, ammunition and explosive material was also recovered from the possession of the insurgents. Elsewhere, Afghan Police confiscated a huge cache of explosives, anti-vehicle mines and arms and ammunition during raids in Nangarhar, Jowzan, Kandhar, Badghis, Baghlan, Nimroz, Zabul, Uruzgan and Ghazni provinces. Two persons were arrested in connection with these operations.

The Police in New York say they have broken up an international identity theft ring that used fake credit cards to buy high-value computer products. More than 86 people have been detained and a further 25 are sought for their part in the scam which involved five crime organisations in New York.
Prosecutors said 13 million dollars had been lost over a 16-month period. Members of the gang used the fake cards to buy mainly Apple products across the US and live a life of luxury. The two-year investigation, dubbed Operation Swiper, revealed that the US-based crime gangs were linked to other gangs in Arica, Europe, the Middle East and eastern Asia.
