सरकार ने लघु बचत को बढ़ावा देने के लिए डाकघरों की बचत खाता, मासिक आय योजना और लोक भविष्य निधि जैसी जमा योजनाओं पर ब्याज दरें बढ़ा दी हैं। एक आधिकारिक विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार डाकघर बचत खातों पर ब्याज दर अब साढ़े तीन की जगह चार प्रतिशत होगी। मासिक आय योजना की ब्याज दर आठ दशमलव दो प्रतिशत और लोक भविष्य निधि-पी.पी.एफ के लिए ब्याज दर आठ दशमलव छह प्रतिशत होगी। लोक भविष्य निधि योजना में वार्षिक निवेश की सीमा मौजूदा ७० हजार रुपए से बढ़ाकर एक लाख रुपए कर दी गई है। नई ब्याज दरें अधिसूचना जारी होने की तिथि से लागू होंगी। अधिसूचना जल्द ही जारी की जाएगी।ब्याज दरों में वृद्धि के इस फैसले से लघु बचत योजनाएं और आकर्षक हो जाएंगी और उन पर मिलने वाले लाभ बाजार दरों के अनुरूप हो जाएंगे। सरकार ने दस वर्ष की परिपक्वता अवधि वाली राष्ट्रीय बचत योजना भी शुरू की है। आर्थिक विशेषज्ञ अंशुमन तिवारी ने बताया कि यह बचतकर्ताओं के लिए अच्छी खबर है।
काफी समय बाद बचतकर्ताओं के लिए एक अच्छी खबर है कि छोटी बचत योजनाओं, प्रावीडेंट फंड, डाकघर की बचत की ब्याज दरों में बढ़ोतरी की गई है। इस समय जबकि महंगाई की दर अपने चरम पर है और शेयर बाजारों में लगातार गिरावट हो रही है, इस फैसले से बचतकर्ताओं को बचत का प्रोत्साहन मिलेगा और उन्हें लाभ मिलेगा। इसका असर बैंकों की बचत दरों पर भी पड़ेगा क्योंकि वैसे भी रिजर्व बैंक ने ब्याज दरें बढ़ने के बाद बैंकों को जमा पर ब्याज दरें बढ़ाने के लिए छूट दी है और अब जबकि छोटी बचत स्कीमों पर ब्याज दरें बढ़ गई हैं तो बैंकों में जमाकर्ताओं को बेहतर ब्याज दर मिलने की उम्मीद बन रही है।

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने कहा है कि देश का बैंकिंग क्षेत्र किसी दबाव में नहीं है, हालांकि सरकारी बैंकों को अतिरिक्त पूंजी की जरूरत है।रिजर्व बैंक के डिप्टी गवर्नर सुबीर गोकर्ण ने दिल्ली में एसोचैम के सम्मेलन के अवसर पर संवाददाताओं को बताया कि पूंजी से जुड़े कुछ मुद्दे लंबे समय से चले आ रहे हैं। अगर बैंकिंग प्रणाली में बीस प्रतिशत वार्षिक की दर से वृद्धि हो रही है, तो पूंजी में भी बीस प्रतिशत वार्षिक वृद्धि होनी चाहिए। इसका संकेत यह नहीं है कि बैंकिंग प्रणाली दबाव में है। हालांकि उन्होंने कहा कि उच्च ब्याज दरों के कारण बैंकिंग प्रणाली में दबाव के कुछ क्षेत्र हो सकते हैं।
भारतीय स्टेट बैंक सहित सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों की पूंजी की आवश्यकता मौजूदा वित्त वर्ष में दस हजार से बीस हजार करोड़ रुपये के बीच आंकी गई है। सरकार इस वर्ष सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों में छह हजार करोड़ रुपए की अतिरिक्त पूंजी लगा चुकी है।

वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने कहा है कि सितम्बर के महीने में औद्योगिक उत्पादन सूचकांक पिछले दो वर्षों में सबसे कम एक दशमलव नौ प्रतिशत रहा, जो निराशाजनक है। पिछले साल के इसी महीने में यह सूचकांक ६ दशमलव एक प्रतिशत था। इसका मुख्य कारण खनन और विनिर्माण के क्षेत्र में उत्पादन में कमी आना है।पश्चिम बंगाल में मुर्शिदाबाद में भारतीय स्टेट बैंक की एक हजारवीं शाखा का उद्घाटन करने के बाद संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में वित्त मंत्री ने कहा कि इसका असर आर्थिक वृद्धि दर पर पड़ सकता है। विश्व में आर्थिक मंदी का भी इस पर असर हुआ है और मांग न होने के कारण अमरीका और यूरोप के लिए भारतीय निर्यात में गिरावट आई है।
खाद्य मुद्रास्फीति में कमी आने पर संतोष व्यक्त करते हुए श्री मुखर्जी ने कहा कि मुद्रास्फीति के दबाव में कमी आएगी और आर्थिक वृद्धि दर बढ़ेगी, क्योंकि रिजर्व बैंक ने संकेत दिया है कि वह दिसम्बर की अपनी मौद्रिक नीति समीक्षा में ब्याज दर और नहीं बढ़ाएगा।
वित्तमंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने भारतीय बैंकिंग प्रणाली पर रेटिंग कंपनी मूडी की टिप्पणी को खारिज करते हुए कहा कि भारतीय बैंकों के पास पर्याप्त पूंजी है और मूडी का आकलन ग़लत है। एक और रेटिंग एजेंसी स्टैंडर्ड एण्ड पूअर्स ने भारतीय बैंकिंग प्रणाली को यह कहते हुए ऊंची रेटिंग दी है कि भारत में लागू नियम वैश्विक मानकों के अनुरूप हैं।

सरकार उपभोक्ताओं के हितों की रक्षा और रियल एस्टेट क्षेत्र के नियमित विकास को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए संसद के शीतकालीन सत्र में रियल एस्टेट विनिमयन प्राधिकरण और विकास विधेयक पेश करेगी। आवास और शहरी गरीबी उन्मूलन मंत्री कुमारी शैलजा ने कल नई दिल्ली में बताया कि विधेयक का मसौदा शीघ्र ही मंत्रिमंडल की मंजूरी के लिए भेजा जाएगा।रियल एस्टेट विधेयक की विशेषताओं की जानकारी देते हुए कुमारी शैलजा ने कहा कि विधेयक लाने का मुख्य उद्देश्य सौदों में पारदर्शिता लाना है।
वास्तव में केन्द्र सरकार को ऐसा विधेयक पारित करना है। इस विधेयक के आने से रियल स्टेट क्षेत्र में होने वाले लेनदेन, यानि सौदों का खुलासा होगा और पारदर्शिता आयेगी। इस विधेयक से रियल स्टेट क्षेत्र में तरक्की आयेगी और नियामक विकास को भी बढ़ावा मिलेगा।

रेल मंत्रालय ने २६ नई रेलगाड़ियां शुरू करने की घोषणा की है। ये रेलगाड़ियां एक हफ्ते के अन्दर चलना शुरू कर देंगी। रेलमंत्री दिनेश त्रिवेदी ने कल नई दिल्ली में बताया कि आठ वर्तमान रेलगाड़ियों की दूरी का विस्तार किया जायेगा और पांच गाड़ियों के फेरे बढाए जायेंगे। नई रेलगाड़ियां हैं - पुणे-सिकन्दराबाद शताब्दी एक्सपे्रस, बीकानेर-दिल्ली-सराय रोहिल्ला एक्सपे्रस, गुवाहाटी-दीमापुर एक्सपे्रस, इन्दौर-कोटा इंटरसिटी एक्सपे्रस। ये नई रेलगाड़ियां रोजाना चलेंगी। द्वारका-तूतीकोरिन विवेक एक्सपे्रस, गोरखपुर-जसवंतपुर एक्सपे्रस और कुछ अन्य गाड़ियां हफ्तें में एक बार चलेंगी।-
बिहार सरकार ने राज्य के ११ दागी अधिकारियों पर मुकदमा चलाने के निर्देश दिए हैं। इनमें एक पूर्व जिलाधिकारी, दो क्षेत्रीय विकास अधिकारी, दो इंजीनियर और विभिन्न विभागों के छह अन्य अधिकारी शामिल हैं। हमारे पटना संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि भ्रष्टाचार में कथित रूप से लिप्त पाए गए ये अधिकारी मुख्य रूप से इंदिरा आवास योजना, सर्व शिक्षा अभियान और पशु पालन विभाग से जुड़े थे।-
१७वां सार्क शिखर सम्मेलन कल मालदीव के अद्दु शहर में सदस्य देशों के बीच बेहतर समझदारी, मैत्री तथा आपसी लाभ और व्यापक सहयोग बढ़ाने के संकल्प के साथ सम्पन्न हो गया। सम्मेलन के घोषणापत्र में सार्क देशों के बीच आर्थिक सहयोग का मुद्दा प्रमुखता से छाया रहा। चार समझौतों पर भी हस्ताक्षर किए गए। ये समझौते क्षेत्रीय मानकों, प्राकृतिक आपदाओं से निपटने के लिए तत्काल व्यवस्था और सार्क सीड बैंक की स्थापना से संबंधित है। मालदीव के राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद नशीद ने समापन समारोह की अध्यक्षता की।समारोह में पाकिस्तान, अफगानिस्तान, बंगलादेश, भूटान, भारत, नेपाल, श्रीलंका और मालदीव के नेताओं ने सर्वसम्मति से अद्दू घोषणा पत्र को मंजूरी दी। यह भी फैसला किया गया कि अगला शिखर सम्मेलन नेपाल में होगा।
सार्क क्षेत्र में व्यापार के अवसरों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए अद्दू घोषणा पत्र में सफ्टा मंत्रियों की परिषद को निर्देश दिया गया कि वे साफ्टा को कारगर ढंग से लागू करने के प्रयास तेज करें। संवेदनशील सूचियों में कमी करने और गैर शुल्क प्रतिबंधों के जल्द से जल्द समाधान का भी निर्णय लिया गया।
यह भी फैसला किया गया कि मंत्रिपरिषद की अगली बैठक के पहले क्षेत्रीय रेलवे समझौता और मोटर वाहन समझौता के लिए विशेषज्ञ दल की बैठक बुलाई जायेगी।

प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह आज मालदीव की राजधानी माले में वहां की संसद मजलिस को संबोधित करेंगे। उनके संबोधन से पहले द्विपक्षीय समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर और परियोजनाओं की शुरूआत होगी तथा मालदीव के राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद नशीद के साथ संयुक्त संवाददाता सम्मेलन आयोजित किया जाएगा। मजलिस में विपक्ष के नेता थसमीन अली का भी श्री मनमोहन सिंह से मुलाकात का कार्यक्रम है। प्रधानमंत्री १७वें सार्क शिखर सम्मेलन में हिस्सा लेने के बाद अद्दू शहर से कल रात माले पहुंचे। डॉ. सिंह पिछले नौ वर्षों में मालदीव की यात्रा पर जाने वाले पहले भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री हैं।-
सीरिया में विपक्ष के नेतृत्व वाली स्थानीय समन्वय समितियों ने आरोप लगाया है कि शुक्रवार को सुरक्षा बलों की गोलीबारी में २० से अधिक लोग मारे गए हैं। ज्यादा मौतें होम्स प्रांत में हुई हैं।इस बीच, अरब लीग की आज सीरिया में बैठक हो रही है। कल की बैठक में शांति योजना पर सीरिया सरकार के जवाब पर विचार किया गया था। सीरिया ने कहा है कि शांति योजना लागू करने में वह अरब लीग के साथ सहयोग करेगा।
संयुक्त राष्ट्र की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार सीरिया में मार्च के महीने में शुरू हुए विरोध प्रदर्शनों में अब तक साढ़े तीन हजार से अधिक लोग मारे जा चुके हैं।

मैक्सिको के गृहमंत्री फ्रांसिस्को ब्लेक मोरा हेलिकॅाप्टर दुर्घटना में मारे गए हैं। श्री मोरा पड़ोसी मोरलोस प्रांत में कुएर्नावाका में अभियोजकों की एक बैठक में हिस्सा लेने जा रहे थे। हेलिकाप्टर में सवार सभी आठ लोगों की मौत हो गई। मैक्सिको के राष्ट्रपति फिलिप कैल्डेरोन ने कहा कि यह दुर्घटना शायद खराब मौसम की वजह से हुई।-
नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशालय ने कहा है कि किंगफिशर एयरलाइन्स ने विश्वास दिलाया है कि उसके तीन से ज्यादा विमान किसी भी समय उपयोग से बाहर नहीं रहेंगे। महानिदेशालय के प्रमुख भारत भूषण ने बताया कि किंगफिशर एयरलाइन्स ने महानिदेशालय को भेजे जवाब में स्पष्ट किया है कि उसके कुछ विमान इस्तेमाल क्यो नहीं किये जा रहे हैं।-

भारतीय मूल के अमरीकी वैज्ञानिक और नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता हरगोविंद खुराना का बुधवार को मेसाचुसेट्स के कोनकोर्ड में निधन हो गया। वे ८९ वर्ष के थे। १९६८ में उन्हें फिजियोलॉजी के क्षेत्र में खोज के लिए नोबेल सम्मान प्रदान किया गया था।-

हिन्दुस्तान की खास खबर के मुताबिक कई देशों ने माना है कि टू-जी घोटाले का पैसा विदेशों में खपाया गया है। पत्र के अनुसार सात देशों ने इसकी पुष्टि कर दी है।

The government has increased interest rates on deposit schemes offered by post offices, like savings account, Monthly Income Scheme and Public Provident Fund in a bid to boost small savings. An official release said that post office savings accounts will fetch 4 per cent interest instead of existing 3.5 per cent. The Monthly Income Scheme, MIS and the Public Provident Fund, PPF will earn an interest of 8.2 per cent and 8.6 per cent respectively. The rate of interest in the one-year fixed deposits has been increased from 6.25 per cent to 7.7 per cent. The new rates will be applicable from the date of notification which will be announced soon. However, the government has decided to discontinue the Kisan Vikas Patras. The maturity period for MIS and National Saving Certificates has been lowered to five years from the existing six years. The decision to hike interest rates will make small savings schemes more attractive and returns would be in sync with market rates. It also introduced the National Savings Scheme with 10-year maturity. The annual investment ceiling in PPF savings has been increased to one lakh rupees from the present limit of 70,000 rupees. The Reserve Bank has said that the Indian banking sector is not facing any stress, though state-owned lenders need capital infusion. RBI Deputy Governor Subir Gokarn told reporters on the sidelines of an Assocham event in Delhi that there are of course long term issues of capital. If the system is growing at 20 per cent a year, it needs the capital to grow at 20 per cent at a year It is not any indication of systemic threat. He, however, admitted that there could be some pressure points on the banking system on account of high interest rates. The capital requirement of PSU banks, including SBI, for the fiscal has been estimated at between 10,000-20,000 crore rupees.

Admitting that high interest rate is hurting economy, Mr Gokarn said, the country's growth rate is likely to moderate to 7.5-7.6 per cent this fiscal. He said, slowdown in economy is impacting the overall investment scenario in the country. Mr Gokarn said, inflation will start moderating from December onwards and dip below 7 per cent in April, 2012.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee termed industrial production slumping to a two-year low of 1.9 per cent in September as discouraging. Talking to reporters at Murshidabad in West Bengal after the inauguration of SBI's 1011th branch, he said it may have an impact on overall economic growth. Industrial production as measured by the Index of Industrial Production, IIP slumped to a two-year low of 1.9 per cent against 6.1 per cent in the corresponding month last year, mainly due to poor performance by mining and manufacturing sectors.

The Ministry of Railways has announced introduction of 26 new trains. They will be operational within a week. Briefing reporters in New Delhi yesterday, Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi also announced extension of 8 existing trains and increase in frequency of 5 more trains with immediate effect. The new trains include Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi Express, Guwahati-Dimapur Express, Indore-Kota Intercity Express, Bikaner-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Express among those which will run daily. While Dwarka-Tuticorin Vivek Express, Gorakhpur-Yesvantpur Express and others will be run weekly. Railways have taken measures to prevent misuse of Tatkal scheme. The new scheme provides for booking Tatkal tickets before 24 hours instead of 48 hours at prseent. Mr Trivedi said, there will be no provision of refund and duplicate tickets for Tatkal.

The government will introduce the Real Estate Regulatory Authority and Development Bill in the winter session of Parliament to protect the right of consumers and to encourage regulated growth of real estate sector. Talking to media persons in New Delhi yesterday, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Selja said, the draft Bill will be sent to the Cabinet for its approval soon. Elaborating the salient features of the Real Estate Bill, the Minister said, it seeks to establish a regulatory oversight mechanism to enforce disclosure, fair practice and accountability norms in the real estate sector. Ms. Selja said, it will also provide adjudication machinery for speedy dispute redressal. The Minister asserted that the main purpose of the Bill is to bring transparency in dealing with consumers.
"The central government can actually pass such a legislation. It will ensure transparency, disclosure on part of the real estate sector. It will also encourage regulated growth and development of this sector."<><>

The 17th SAARC summit concluded in the Addu city of Maldives with the resolve for creating better understanding and promoting amity. The Summit also resolved to strengthen mutually beneficial and comprehensive cooperation in order to promote effective linkages and connectivity for greater movement of people, enhanced investment and trade in the region. The Maldivian President Mohd Nasheed presided over the closing ceremony. The SAARC leaders of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives unanimously adopted the Addu declaration at the closing ceremony, which focused on the theme of “building bridges”. It was also decided that the next summit will be held in Nepal. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister will address the Majlis, the Parliament of the Maldives at Male today. Signing of Bilateral Agreements, Project launch and a Joint Press Conference with the Maldivian President Mohammed Nasheed will precede his address to the Majlis. The Leader of the opposition in the Majlis Thasmeen Ali is scheduled to call on the Prime Minister. प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा है कि भारत हिंदमहासागर क्षेत्र की शांति और समृद्धि के लिए मालदीव और समान विचारों वाले देशों के साथ मिलकर काम करने का इच्छुक है। उन्होंने कहा कि समुद्री मार्गों की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करना इन सभी देशों के हित में है। उन्होंने हिंद महासागर के आसपास के देशों के क्षेत्रीय सहयोग संगठन को फिर से सक्रिय करने के लिए सामूहिक प्रयास करने की अपील की।आज माले में मालदीव की संसद मजलिस को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि भारत हिंद महासागर क्षेत्र की शांति को खतरे की मालदीव की चिंताओं से सहमत है। प्रधानमंत्री ने हिंद महासागर में सूचनाओं के बेहतर आदान-प्रदान, प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रमों और सुरक्षा व्यवस्था में सहयोग के लिए काम करने की अपील की। डॉ मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि भारत मालदीव में राष्ट्रीय पुलिस अकादमी बनाने में सहयोग देगा और माले के उत्तर में एक बंदरगाह बनाने की संभावनाओं का पता लगायेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि कोच्ची और माले के बीच शुरू की जा रही यात्री और मालवाहक फैरी सेवा तथा भारत और मालदीव के विभिन्न स्थानों के बीच ज्यादा सीधी विमान सेवाएं शुरू करने से दोनों देशों के बीच संपर्क बढ़ेगा।
प्रधानमंत्री ने मालदीव को उसकी वित्तीय स्थिति में सुधार के लिए दस करोड़ डॉलर की ऋण सुविधा देने की घोषणा की है। डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह और मालदीव के राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद नशीद ने विकास में सहयोग के लिए तौर-तरीकों के बारे में समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं।
हमने विकास में सहयोग के लिए समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये हैं। ये समझौते व्यापार और निवेश , खाद्य सुरक्षा, मत्स्य विकास, पर्यटन, परिवहन, सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी, नवीकरण ऊर्जा, संचार और सम्पर्क के क्षेत्र में हैं।
डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने एक बयान में कहा कि भारत और मालदीव दोनों ने आपसी सुरक्षा हितों की रक्षा के लिए सहयोग के महत्व को समझा है।
भारत और मालदीव जलवायु परिवर्तन, समुद्री डकैती, आतंकवाद तथा मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी और अन्य खतरों से निपटने के बारे में सहयोग कर रहे हैं। आपदा प्रबन्धन और तटीय सुरक्षा में सहयोग बढ़ाने के बारे में समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किये गये।
डॅ मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि दोनों देशों के आपसी संबंध समय की कसौटी पर खरे उतरे हैं।
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि विकास के लिए सहयोग के प्रारूप के बारे में समझौता हिन्द महासागर में दोनों देशों की भूमिका को दर्शाता है। उन्होंने कहा कि माले में चल रही फैकल्टी और पर्यटन अध्ययन की परियोजनाएं २०१३ के मध्य में पूरी कर ली जाएगी। मालदीव के राष्ट्रपति ने सभी प्रकार की सहायता के लिए डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह को धन्यवाद देते हुए कहा कि दोनों देशों के बीच किए गए समझौते और सहमति पत्रों से मालदीव को काफी फायदा होगा।

वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने कहा है कि इस समय देश के सामने दो सबसे बड़े मुद्दे, आवश्यक वस्तुओं और पेट्रोलियम उत्पादों की लगातार बढ़ती कीमतें हैं। श्री मुखर्जी ने पश्चिम बंगाल के बेहरामपुर में आयोजित कांग्रेस सेमिनार में कहा कि केन्द्र के लिए पेट्रो उत्पादों की कीमतें घटाना सम्भव नहीं है, क्योंकि नियंत्रित दरों पर ईंधन की बिक्री के लिए तेल कंपनियों को पहले ही बहुत ज्यादा सब्सिडी दी जा रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि कच्चे तेल का आयात बजट के समय से कई गुना ज्यादा मूल्य पर किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि विदेशी तेल कंपनियां भी पेट्रोलियम उत्पादों के मूल्य बढ़ा रही हैं।श्री मुखर्जी ने कहा कि राज्य सरकारें केन्द्र से मिलने वाले ऋण पर निर्भर नहीं रह सकतीं और उन्हें स्थिति से निपटने के लिए अपने संसाधन बढ़ाने होंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि आवश्यक वस्तुओं की बढ़ती कीमतों से निपटने के लिए सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली को मजबूत बनाना होगा। उन्होंने कहा कि मजबूत सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली से चालीस करोड़ लोगों को फायदा होगा और कीमतों को बढ़ने से रोका जा सकेगा।

राजस्थान में, सीबीआई ने भंवरी देवी अपहरण मामले में पूछताछ के लिए कांग्रेस विधायक मलखान सिंह को आज फिर से जोधपुर में अपने कार्यालय में बुलाया है। उनसे पूछताछ चल रही है और कई महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य उजागर होने की संभावना है। कल की पूछताछ में मलखान सिंह ने स्वीकार किया था कि उसने राज्य के बर्खास्त मंत्री महिपाल मदेरणा को भंवरी देवी से मिलवाया था। समझा जाता है कि मदेरणा और भंवरी देवी के बीच अवैध संबंधों के कारण उसका अपहरण हुआ है। मलखान सिंह के अलावा सीबीआई ने अब तक इस मामले में महिपाल मदेरणा, लीला मदेरणा, इंदिरा बिश्नोई और शहाबुद्दीन से पूछताछ की है।-
इस बीच सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्रालय ने दो समाचार चैनलों को नर्स भंवरी देवी और राजस्थान के पूर्व मंत्री महिपाल मदेरणा के आपत्तिजनक स्थिति वाले वीडियो प्रसारित करने पर कारण बताओं नोटिस जारी किया है।जनसूचना और नवाचार के बारे में प्रधानमंत्री के सलाहकार सैम पित्रोदा ने कहा है कि शिक्षा प्रणाली को अधिक सस्ता और सुलभ बनाने के लिए आधुनिक प्रौद्योगिकी की मदद ली जानी चाहिए। नई दिल्ली में आज उच्च शिक्षा पर एक सेमीनार में उन्होंने कहा कि शिक्षा प्रणाली को अधिक पारदर्शी बनाने के लिए इसे इंटरनेट से जोड़ा जाना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि शिक्षा के नवाचार मॉडलों को प्रोत्साहन दिया जाना चाहिए ताकि यह समाज के वंचित वर्गों तक पहुंच सकें। श्री पित्रोदा ने लंबित पड़े शिक्षा संबंधी विधेयक जल्द पारित करने का सरकार से आग्रह किया। उन्होंने कहा कि इससे देश में शिक्षा के बुनियादी ढांचे को उन्नत बनाने में महत्वपूर्ण मदद मिलगी।

नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशालय ने कहा है कि किंगफिशर एयरलाइंस ने आश्वासन दिया है कि किसी भी एक समय में उसके तीन से ज्यादा विमान उपयोग से बाहर नहीं रहेगे। निदेशालय ने कहा कि सरकार इस विमान सेवा पर लगातार नजर रख रही है कि वह अपने निर्धारित उड़ान कार्यक्रमों का पालन कर रही है या नहीं।इस बीच, सरकार ने कहा है कि घाटे पर चल रही किंगफिशर एयर लाइंस को उबारने के लिए ऐसे किसी सहायता पैकेज की घोषणा नहीं की जाएगी जैसा कि एयर इंडिया के लिए दिया गया था। नागरिक उड्डन मंत्री वायलार रवि ने कल कहा कि सरकार का किंगफिशर को ऐसी सहायता देने का कोई विचार नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा कि किंगफिशर एक प्रमुख विमान सेवा है और सरकार नहीं चाहती कि वह बंद हो।
इस बीच, किंगफिशर एयरलाइन का संकट और बढ़ गया है। उसने सौ से अधिक उड़ानें आर्थिक परेशानियों के कारण रद्द कर दी हैं।

सरकार , दो नये एक्सप्रेस मार्ग बनाने पर विचार कर रही है। ये दिल्ली से जयपुर और दिल्ली से चंडीगढ़ तक होंगे। सड़क परिवहन और राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग मंत्री सीपी जोशी ने नई दिल्ली में बताया कि उनका मंत्रालय इस बारे में राज्य सरकारों से बातचीत कर रहा है। दिल्ली और हरियाणा सरकार ने इन मार्गों के निर्माण की मंजूरी दे दी है। ये परियोजनाएं पर्यावरण के अनुकूल होंगी।२३० किलोमीटर के प्रस्तावित दिल्ली-जयपुर एक्सप्रेस मार्ग से, मनेसर, बावल, खुशखेरा, भिवाड़ी और नीमराणा को दिल्ली-मुंबई औद्योगिक गलियारें और अन्य राष्ट्रीय राजमार्गों के नेटवर्क से जोड़ा जा सकता है।

जम्मू-कश्मीर में सुरक्षा बलों ने जम्मू डिवीजन के किश्तवाड़ जिले में आतंकवादियों के एक ठिकाने से बड़ी मात्रा में विस्फोटक सामग्री बरामद की है। सरकारी सूत्रों के अनुसार पुलिस और राष्ट्रीय राइफल्स के दल ने इस बारे में सूचना मिलने पर जिले के केशवान वन क्षेत्र के ऊपरी इलाकों में तलाशी अभियान शुरू किया और इस ठिकाने का पता लगाया। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि सुरक्षा बलों ने इस ठिकाने का पता लगाकर, बड़+ी मात्रा में विस्फोटक सामग्री बरामद कर एक बड़ा हादसा टाल दिया है।-

ईरान ने पेट्रोलियम निर्यात करने वाले देशों के संगठन-ओपेक के सदस्यों से तेल का उत्पादन लीबिया के संकट से पहले के स्तर पर लाने का अनुरोध किया है। ईरान के तेल मंत्री रुस्तम कासमी ने कहा कि जिन देशों ने लीबिया द्वारा तेल का उत्पादन बंद करने के बाद अपना उत्पादन बढ़ा दिया था, उनसे ईरान अपने तेल का उत्पादन पहले के ही स्तर पर लाने को कहेगा। सऊदी अरब और खाड़ी के देशों ने लीबिया से तेल की आपूर्ति कम होने के कारण वैश्विक मांग को देखते हुए अपना उत्पादन बढ़ा दिया था।-

भारत ने पाकिस्तान का स्पष्ट कर दिया है कि मुम्बई हमले जैसी किसी अन्य घटना से दोनों देशों के बीच शांति-प्रक्रिया पटरी से उतर सकती है। मालदीव की चार दिन की यात्रा की समाप्ति के बाद माले से नई दिल्ली लौटते समय विमान पर कुछ देर पहले मीडिया से बातचीत में प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि उन्होंने पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री यूसुफ रज+ा गिलानी को बता दिया है कि भारत के लोगों का मानना है कि जब तक मुम्बई हमले के दोषियों को सजा नहीं मिलती शांति-प्रक्रिया आगे नहीं बढ़ सकती।उन्होंने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि वे आपसी बातचीत को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए श्री गिलानी पर आंख मूंद कर भरोसा नहीं कर सकते। उन्होंने कहा कि पाकिस्तान की सशस्त्र सेनाएं शांति-प्रक्रिया में शामिल हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत पाकिस्तान की असैनिक सरकार के हाथ मजबूत करना चाहता है। उन्होंने कहा कि श्री गिलानी से माले में उनकी बृस्पतिवार को मुलाकात हुई थी और वे अच्छी तरह समझ गए हैं कि मुम्बई जैसा एक और हमला शांति-प्रक्रिया के लिए एक बड़ी रूकावट सिद्ध होगा।

भारत और मालदीव ने विकास के लिए सहयोग के बारे में ऐतिहासिक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए है। साथ ही दोनों देशों के संबंध एक नई ऊंचाई पर पहुंच गए हैं। प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह की दो दिन की यात्रा की समाप्ति के बाद माले से रवाना होने से पूर्व चार अन्य समझौतों पर भी हस्ताक्षर किए गए, जिनमें आतंकवाद के खिलाफ संयुक्त रूप से लड़ने के बारे में एक समझौता भी शामिल है।भारत और मालदीव जलवायु परिवर्तन, समुद्री डकैती, आतंकवाद तथा मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी और अन्य खतरों से निपटने के बारे में सहयोग कर रहे हैं। आपदा प्रबन्धन और तटीय सुरक्षा में सहयोग बढ़ाने के बारे में समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किये गये।
भारत ने मालदीव की आर्थिक स्थिति सुधारने के लिए दस करोड़ डॉलर की ऋण सुविधा देने की घोषणा की। मालदीव की बहुदलीय संसद-पीपुल्स मजलिस को संबोधित करने वाले डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह पहली विदेशी हस्ती बन गए हैं।
डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने हिंद महासागर में स्थित इस द्वीपीय देश में कई क्षेत्रों के विकास के प्रति अपनी वचनबद्धता दोहराई।
हमने विकास में सहयोग के लिए समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये हैं। ये समझौते व्यापार और निवेश , खाद्य सुरक्षा, मत्स्य विकास, पर्यटन, परिवहन, सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी, नवीकरण ऊर्जा, संचार और सम्पर्क के क्षेत्र में हैं।
यात्रा की समाप्ति के बाद जारी संयुक्त वक्तव्य में दोनों देशों के नेताओं ने इस पर सहमति जताई कि उनके देश की धरती का इस्तेमाल एक-दूसरे को नुकसान पहुंचाने वाली गतिविधियों के लिए नहीं किया जाएगा। हमारी संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि कोच्चि और माले के बीच नौवहन सेवा और नौका सेवाओं में सुधार पर भी सहमति हुई।
अपनी दो दिवसीय यात्रा के दौरान डाक्टर मनमोहन ंिसह ने चार करोड़ डॉलर की लागत से १० हजार घरों के निर्माण पर भी सहमति जताई। दोनों देशों के बीच अन्य समझौतों पर भी हस्ताक्षर किये गये जिसमें अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आतंकवाद और नशीले पदार्थों की तस्करी का मुकाबला, आपदा प्रबंधन, तटीय सुरक्षा जैसे मुद्दे शामिल है। मालदीव की राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मत नशीद ने कहा कि भारत का यह सहयोग इस दीव देश की प्रगति और निर्माण में काफी मददगार साबित होगा। मज्+लिस के ७८ साल के इतिहास में डाक्टर मनमोहन सिंह पहले ऐसे विदेशी शासनाध्यक्ष है जिन्होंने मालदीव के मज्+लिस का संबोधन किया।

पाकिस्तान के वाणिज्य सचिव जफर महमूद भारत के साथ आर्थिक संबंधों की समीक्षा के लिए आज शाम दिल्ली पहुंच रहे हैं। वे सोमवार को भारतीय वाणिज्य सचिव राहुल खुल्लर के साथ आपसी और क्षेत्रीय हितों के विभिन्न आर्थिक मुद्दों पर बातचीत करेंगे। वाणिज्य सचिव स्तर की दो दिन की बातचीत के दौरान भारत को सर्वाधिक वरीयता वाले देश का महत्वपूर्ण दर्जा देने के पाकिस्तान के फैसले पर उससे स्पष्टीकरण मांगे जाने की संभावना है।मालदीव में सार्क शिखर सम्मेलन के दौरान पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री यूसुफ रज+ा गिलानी से बातचीत के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने पाकिस्तान के साथ तरजीही व्यापार समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर करने और २०१६ तक सभी वस्तुओं पर शुल्क समाप्त करने की पेशकश की थी।
हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि दोनों देशों के बीच व्यापार करीब दो अरब साठ करोड़ डॉलर का है जिसके दस अरब डालर तक पहुंचने का अनुमान है। दोनों देश आपसी व्यापार बढ़ाने के लिए प्रयास कर रहे हैं। भारत यूरोपीय संघ द्वारा पाकिस्तान को विशेष व्यापार रियायतें देनें के प्रस्ताव का समर्थन करता रहा है जहां पिछले साल भारी बाढ के कारण काफी क्षति हुई थी। भारत १९९६ में ही पाकिस्तान को सर्वाधिक वरीयता वाले देश्र का दर्जा दे चुका है।

राजस्थान में सीबीआई ने आज कांग्रेस विधायक मलखान सिंह और लीला मदेरणा तथा जोधपुर में उनके परिवार के सदस्यों से भंवरी देवी अपहरण मामले में उनके कथित रूप से शामिल होने के बारे में पूछताछ की। समझा जाता है कि पांच घंटे चली इस पूछताछ के दौरान कई महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य सामने आए हैं। मलखान सिंह ने पूछताछ के बारे में मीडिया के सामने कुछ भी कहने से इंकार कर दिया। आरोपी मंत्री महिपाल मदेरणा को भी आज सीबीआई ने बुलाया था, लेकिन बीमारी के कारण वे उपस्थित नहीं हुए। उन्होंने सीबीआई को चिकित्सा प्रमाण-पत्र भी भेजा है। मामले की एक अन्य आरोपी इंदिरा बिश्नोई भी बीमारी की वजह से अस्पताल में भर्ती हो गई हैं।----
इस बीच, राजस्थान के खदान मंत्री रामलाल जाट ने पारस देवी आत्म-हत्या मामले में शामिल होने के आरोपों के बाद इस्तीफा दे दिया है। श्री जाट ने नैतिक आधार पर अपना इस्तीफा मुख्यमंत्री को सौंपा।----
पुद्दूचेरी के मुख्यमंत्री एन. रंगास्वामी ने शिक्षा मंत्री कल्याण सुन्दरम को हटा दिया है। कल्याणसुन्दरम ने दसवीं कक्षा की परीक्षा में अपनी जगह किसी अन्य को बैठाया था। मुख्यमंत्री ने आज शाम उन्हें बर्खास्त करने के बारे में पत्र उपराज्यपाल के कार्यालय को सौंपा। राजनिवास के सूत्रों के अनुसार, उप राज्यपाल अभी नई दिल्ली में हैं और कल उनके पुद्दुचेरी लौटने के बाद ही कोई फैसला लिया जाएगा।----
मध्य प्रदेश में मंदसौर जिले में चम्बल नदी में एक नाव के पलट जाने से १३ लोग डूब गए हैं। यह दुर्घटना चिमनगढ़ गांव के पास हुई। सीतामऊ के पुलिस उपाधीक्षक ने हमारे भोपाल संवाददाता को बताया कि सभी १३ शव नदी से निकाल लिए गए हैं। इस नाव पर १८ लोग सवार थे। ----

भारतीय महिला कबड्डी टीम ने महिला विश्व कप कबड्डी के फाइनल में प्रवेश कर लिया है। पंजाब के फिरोज+पुर में आज भारतीय टीम ने इंग्लैंड को ८ के मुकाबले ५१ अंकों से पराजित किया।पुरुष विश्व कप कबड्डी में कनाडा ने नेपाल को २२ के मुकाबले ६४ अंकों से पराजित कर सेमीफाइनल में प्रवेश किया। एक अन्य मुकाबले में इंग्लैंड ने जर्मनी को ६५-१९ से हराया।

आज राष्ट्रीय लोक प्रसारण दिवस है। आज ही के दिन १९४७ में महात्मा गांधी पहली और आखिरी बार आकाशवाणी स्टूडियो में आए थे। उन्होंने रेड़ियो के जरिये कुरूक्षेत्र के शिविर में पाकिस्तान से आये शरणार्थियों को संबोधित किया था।प्रसारण भवन में महात्मा गांधी के पधारने की ६४वीं वर्षगांठ के अवसर पर आज एक समारोह का आयोजन किया गया।

भारत के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति डाक्टर राजेन्द्र प्रसाद की रॉलेक्स घड़ी की नीलामी स्थगित कर दी गई है। नीलामी जिनेवा में रविवार को होनी थी जिसे भारतीय अधिकारियों के अनुरोध पर स्थगित कर दी गई है। डाक्टर राजेन्द्र प्रसाद को यह घड़ी १९५० में पहले गणतंत्र दिवस पर उपहार में दी गई थी। नीलामी में इस घड़ी की बिक्री से दो लाख २२ हजार से चार लाख ४४ हजार डॉलर मिलने का अनुमान है।सुनहरे रंग की इस घड़ी पर भारत का मानचित्र दिखाया गया है और इस पर २६ जनवरी १९५० अंकित है।

India has made it clear to Pakistan that another incident like 26/11 attack can derail the peace process between the two countries. Talking to media persons on board the aircraft on his way to Delhi from Male after completing four day visit to Maldives a shortwhile ago, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that he impressed upon the Pakistan Prime Minister Gilani that the people of India donot want to see the peace process move further unless the perpretators of the Mumbai attrack are brought to justice. Asserting that he is not putting blinding faith in his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani for pushing bilateral dialogue, Dr.Manmohan Singh said Pakistan's armed forces are on board on the peace process. He said India wants to strengthen the hands of the civilian government in Pakistan. He said Gilani, whom he met in Male on Thursday, has clearly understood that one more mumbai-like attack will be a big setback in the peace process. Dr. Singh said he found Gilani interested in ensuring peace in his country and development. Talking about Gilani's invitation to him to visit Pakistan, Prime Minister said he has accepted the invitation but this will happen only when certain expectations of New Delhi are met with.

India and maldives today took their relations to a new high by signing a historic ‘Framework Agreement on Cooperation for Development.
"The President and I have signed a frame work agreement on cooperation for development such as trade an investment food security, fisheries development, tourism, transportation, information technology and renewable energy, communications and connectivity."
Five other accords including one for jointly combating terrorism were also signed before Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh left Male after his 2 day visit. New Delhi is to provide 100 million dollar credit facilty to Maldives to stabilise its fiscal position. Dr.Singh, has become the first foreign dignitory to address the People's Majlis - the multi party parliament of Maldives.
"We have agreed to examine a comprehensive package to help develop the Maldivian economy including in the areas of banking and financial infrastructure and capacity building."
New Delhi will undertake extensive renovation of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Male.
"The Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Male has served as the main referral hospital for Maldives. We will undertake a major renovation of this Hospital as part of our aid programme."
Dr Singh said India will also construct the National Police Academy of Maldives on which work will commence shortly.
"India will support the construction of a National Police Academy. Bilaterally, we have entered into arrangements on Combating Terrorism, Drug Trafficking, Disaster Management and Coastal Security and Transfer of Sentenced Persons."
Our correspondent reprots that the Speaker of the People’s Majlis Abdulla Shahid said the Prime Minister of India is the first foreign Head of State or Government to ever address the People’s Majlis in its history.
"India today signed the historic ‘Framework Agreement on Cooperation for Development’ with Maldives which both countries agreed that it will put the bilateral cooperation between India and Maldives on a high growth trajectory in recent times. A joint statement issued at the end of the visit said the two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation to enhance maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region to check piracy.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had a luncheon meeting with the Maldivian President Mohammed Nasheed at the Kurumba island. In keeping with the theme of the 17th SAARC Summmit , Dr Singh said that increasing connectivity both by sea and air would bring the people of the two countries closer.
"We wish to work with the Maldives and other like minded countries to ensure peace and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region. In many ways, India and Maldives are natural partners in this enterprise. The Indian Ocean is rich in resources. It provides sustenance and livelihood to many island states."

Jat said that he has submitted his resignation to the Chief Minister on moral grounds. He is ready to undergo any inquiry including DNA test to prove that he has nothing to do with the death of Paras Devi who committed suicide on Septemeber, 27 this year. Her father has alleged that Ram Lal Jat is involved in the death and he is misusing his official capacity to suppress the case.

In Madhya Pradesh, 13 people were drowned when a boat capsized in Chambal river in Mandsour district today. The Mishap occurred near Chimangarh village. Sub Divisional Police officer of Sitamau told our Bhopal correspondent that all the 13 bodies have been fished out of the river. Eighteen people were on board the ill-fated boat. Five people swam to safety.

The Arab League has voted to suspend Syria from its meetings over its failure to end a government crackdown on protesters. It has also decided to impose sanctions against Damascus. At an emergency meeting in Cairo today the League also asked member states to withdraw their ambassadors, and urged Damascus to end violence against protesters. The Arab League Ministers took the decisions after considering Syria's failure to implement the peace plan agreed with the League last week. Eighteen Arab League member states voted at the Cairo meeting to suspend Syria, with Syria, Lebanon and Yemen voting against and Iraq abstaining.

Pakistan Commerce Secretary Zafar Mahmood is arriving in New Delhi to review the economic ties between the two neighbours. He is to hold talks with his Indian counterpart Rahul Khullar on various economic issues of mutual and regional concern on Monday. During the two-day Commerce Secretary level talks, India is likely to seek clarity on Pakistan's decision to grant New Delhi the crucial Most Favoured Nation - MFN - status. During his talks with Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on the sidelines of the SAARC Summit at Addu in Maldives earlier, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has offered to sign a Preferential Trade Agreement with Pakistan, committing to eliminate duties on all goods by 2016.
India has been backing the European Union proposal to grant special trade concessions to Pakistan where floods caused havoc to its economy, last year. India had granted the MFN status to Pakistan in 1996.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will arrive in Dhaka tomarrow on the first leg of his three nation tour to Bangladesh, Thailand and Indonesia. The UN Security Council has taken a decision that effectively ends the current Palestinian bid for UN membership. A Security Council committee has approved a report summing up the deep divisions within the council, without recommending any action on the Palestinian request. Although the committee's discussion focused on whether Palestine met the technical criteria for membership, diplomats said ultimately the decision for many countries was political, reflecting different views of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
