देश आज अपना ६३वां गणतंत्र दिवस मना रहा है। राजधानी दिल्ली में राजपथ पर आयोजित भव्य परेड में भारत की समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक विरासत, विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में राष्ट्र की उपलब्धियों और देश की सैन्य शक्ति की शानदार झलक पेश की गई। दिल्ली के जनरल ऑफिसर कमांडिंग-लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल वी के पिल्लई के नेतृत्व में सेना और पुलिस के दस्तों ने सेना के बैंड की धुनों के साथ गौरवपूर्ण अंदाज में कदम से कदम मिलाकर राजपथ पर परेड करते हुए सेना की सर्वोच्च कमाण्डर राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटील को सलामी दी।समारोह की मुख्य अतिथि और थाईलैंड की प्रधानमंत्री यिंगलुक शिनावात्रा, उपराष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी, प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह, रक्षा मंत्री ए. के. एंटनी और यूपीए अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने भव्य परेड का नजारा लिया। परेड शुरू होने से कुछ ही समय पहले प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह, रक्षामंत्री ए. के. एंटनी और थल सेना, नौसेना और वायु सेना के प्रमुखों ने देश की रक्षा में अपना जीवन न्यौछावर करने वाले शहीदों की याद में अमर जवान ज्योति पर श्रद्धा सुमन अर्पित किए। परंपरागत २१ तोपों की सलामी और राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराये जाने के बाद राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटील ने शांतिकाल का सर्वोच्च वीरता पुरस्कार अशाोक च्रक्र मरणोपरांत लेफ्टिनेंट नवदीप सिंह को प्रदान किया, जो जम्मू कश्मीर में नियंत्रण रेखा के निकट पाकिस्तानी आतंकवादियों की घुसपैठ की कोशिश विफल करते हुए शहीद हो गए थे। इससे पहले भव्य परेड की शुरूआत का संकेत देते हुए चार एम आई-सत्रह हेलीकॉप्टरों ने पश्चिम की ओर से आकाश में ऊंची उड़ान भरते हुए हजारों दर्शकों पर फूलों की पंखुड़ियां बिखेरीं। थलसेना ने अपने शानदार सैन्य उपकरणों का प्रदर्शन किया, जिनमे टी-७२ टैंक, कैरियर मोटर ट्रैक्ड व्हिकल, स्मर्च प्रक्षेपास्त्र प्रणाली और बहु बैरल रॉकेट प्रणाली-पिनाका शामिल हैं। अग्नि-४ मिसाइल, मानव रहित विमान-रूस्तम-१ और युद्ध क्षेत्र के सहायक प्रक्षेपास्त्र प्रहार ने मुख्य रूप से लोगों का ध्यान आकृष्ट किया। एक ओर जहां देश के सैन्य और पुलिस बलों ने अपनी शक्ति का शानदार प्रदर्शन किया, वहीं दूसरी तरफ २३ राज्यों और सरकार के विभिन्न विभागों ने अपनी झांकियों में देश की समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक विविधता की झलक पेश की। पहली बार निर्वाचन आयोग ने ÷राष्ट्रीय मतदाता दिवस' पर आधारित अपनी झांकी निकाली ।
इस झांकी के जरिए ज्यादा से ज्यादा संख्या में मतदाता पंजीकरण का लक्ष्य हांसिल करने का प्रचार और इससे भारतीय लोकतंत्र की गुणवत्ता बढ़ाने का भाव दर्शाया गया। सीमा सुरक्षा बल के जांबाज मोटरसाइकिल दस्ते ने राजपथ पर अपने करतबों से दर्शकों को मंत्रमुग्ध कर दिया। परेड में राष्ट्रीय बहादुरी पुरस्कार २०११ के विजेताओं सहित विभिन्न स्कूलों के बच्चों ने भी हिस्सा लिया। परेड के अंतिम चरण में भारतीय वायु सेना ने पहली बार सी-१३० जे सुपर हरक्युलिस विमान ने शानदार फ्लाईपास्ट किया। फ्लाई पास्सट में जगुआर और सुखोई विमानों ने भी हिस्सा लिया।
आखिर में राष्ट्रीय गान और हवा में रंगबिरंगे गुब्बारे छोड़ने के साथ समारोह सम्पन्न हो गया।

इस अवसर पर सभी राज्यों में राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया गया और सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों तथा परेड का आयोजन किया गया।जम्मू कश्मीर में गणतंत्र दिवस का मुख्य समारोह राज्य की शीतकालीन राजधानी जम्मू में आयोजित किया गया। राज्यपाल एन एन वोहरा ने मौलाना आजाद मेमोरियल स्टेडियम में तिरंगा फहराया और परेड की सलामी ली। इस अवसर पर मुख्यमंत्री उमर अब्दुल्ला भी मौजूद थे।

मणिपुर में कड़ी सुरक्षा व्यवस्था के बीच गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह धूमधाम से मनाया जा रहा है। राज्यपाल श्री गुरबचन जगत ने इंफाल में राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया और मार्च पास्ट की सलामी ली।
परेड में सांस्कृतिक झांकियों समेत ७३ टुकड़ियों ने हिस्सा लिया। समारोह के दौरान राज्यपाल ने शौर्य और अदम्य साहस का परिचय देने वाले पुलिसकर्मियों को २३ पदक प्रदान किये। दो पुलिस कर्मियों को राष्ट्रपति के पुलिस मैडल से, जबकि चार पुलिसकर्मियों को कर्तव्य निभाते हुए बहादुरी प्रदर्शित करने के लिए पुलिस मैडल से नवाजा गया। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए इम्फाल से इबोम्चा शर्मा के साथ राजीव रूस्तगी।
असम के राज्यपाल जानकी बल्लभ पटनायक ने गुवाहाटी में राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराते हुए कहा कि राज्य सरकार ने उग्रवाद की समस्या से निपटने में उल्लेखनीय सफलता प्राप्त की है।
मेघालय में राज्यपाल रंजीत शेखर मूसाहारी ने शिलांग में राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया और परेड की सलामी ली।
अरूणाचल प्रदेश के राज्यपाल रिटायर्ड जनरल जे.जे. सिंह ने इटा नगर में राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया और मार्च पास्ट की सलामी ली।
राज्यपाल जे जे सिंह ने कहा कि राज्य सरकार ने हाल ही में सार्वजनिक निजी भागीदारी नीति २०११ अपनाई है। इसके माध्यम से राज्य में विकास की नई राहें खुलेंगी। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य में प्रधानमंत्री पैकेज परियोजनाओं पर काम चल रहा है। इनमे ंराजधानी को इस वित्तीय वर्ष के मध्य तक रेलवे लाइन से जोड़ दिया जाएगा। राज्यपाल ने कहा कि राज्य में जल वितरण प्रणाली मजबूत करने के लिए इस साल राज्य के विभिन्न स्थानों पर ३४ नये गोदाम शुरू किये जाएंगे। उन्होंने घोषणा कि राज्य मे शिक्षा के विकास के लिए इस वित्तीय वर्ष में चार नये मॉडल डिग्री कॉलेज और सात नये पॉलिटेक्नीक कॉलेजों की स्थापना की जाएगी। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए ईटानगर से मुरारी गुप्ता। अण्डमान-निकोबार द्वीपसमूह में गणतंत्र दिवस हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया जा रहा है। मुख्य समारोह आज सुबह पोर्ट ब्लेयर के ऐतिहासिक नेताजी स्टेडियम में आयोजित हुआ।

मध्यप्रदेश के राज्यपाल राम नरेश यादव ने भोपाल में राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया।
गणतंत्र समारोह को संबोधित करते हुए राज्यपाल रामनरेश यादव ने कहा कि सरकार कुपोषण सहित कई चुनौतियों का सामना पूर्ण संकल्प के साथ कर रही है। प्रदेश सरकार द्वारा चलाये गये ÷÷बेटी बचाओ'' अभियान की प्रशंसा करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि लोगों की मानसिकता को बदले बिना इस लक्ष्य को हासिल नहीं किया जा सकता। परेड में पुलिस, सुरक्षाबल, एनसीसी और स्कॉउट एंड गाइड की तीस टुकड़ियों ने भाग लिया। इस मौके पर भगोडिया और गंगौर लोक नृत्य सहित विभिन्न सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत किये गये। मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने जबलपुर में राष्ट्रीय वज फहराया शारिक नूर आकाशवाणी समाचार भोपाल।

हरियाणा प्रदेश का राज्यस्तरीय समारोह अंबाला में बड़े ही हर्षोल्लास और धूमधाम से मनाया गया। राज्यपाल श्री जगन्नाथ पहाड़िया ने ध्वाजारोहण किया और परेड की सलामी ली। शहीदों और स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों को भावभीनी श्रद्धाजंलि अर्पित करते हुए उन्होंने देश के पुनर्निर्माण हेतु युवाओं का आहवान करते हुए कहा गुजरात में राज्यस्तरीय समारोह भावनगर में हुआ, जहां राज्यपाल श्रीमती कमला ने मुख्यमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी और अन्य गणमान्य लोगों की उपस्थिति में तिरंगा फहराया।

केरल के मुख्यमंत्री ओमन चांडी ने तिरूअनन्तपुर में, राजस्थान के राज्यपाल शिवराज पाटिल ने जयपुर में, पुदुच्चेरी में उप राज्यपाल इकबाल सिंह ने राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया और सशस्त्र पुलिस के गार्ड ऑफ ऑनर का निरीक्षण किया। झारखंड में भी गणतंत्र दिवस की धूम है। लोग जगह-जगह पर विभिन्न कार्यक्रमों में भाग ले रहे हैं।
मुख्य समारोह रांची के मोरावादी मैदान में हुआ जहां राज्यपाल डॉक्टर सयैद अहमद ने परेड की सलामी ली। इसके अलावा रांची स्थित विभिन्न संस्थाओं एवं लोक उपक्रमों जैसे सीसीएल, एचईसी और सीएनपीडीआई , मैकॉन, सेल तथा विभिन्न विश्वविद्यालय में भी गणतंत्र दिवस की धूम रही। विधानसभा अध्यक्ष वीपी सिंह ने अपने संबोधन में नागरिकों को राष्ट्र निर्माण में त्याग, तपस्या और बलिदान के महत्व के बारे में बताया। वहीं मुख्यमंत्री अर्जुन मुंडा ने दुमका के पुलिस लाइन में राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहरा कर परेड की सलामी ली। अपने भाषण में श्री मुंडा ने राज्य सरकार के विभिन्न विकास योजनाओं के बारे में बताया। राजेश सिन्हा आकाशवाणी समाचार रांची।
बिहार के राज्यपाल देवानंद कुंवर ने पटना के ऐतिहासिक गांधी मैदान में तिरंगा फहराया। जनसमूह को संबोधित करते हुए श्री कुंवर ने कहा कि राज्य सरकार सामाजिक न्याय के साथ राज्य का विकास करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। उन्होंने बताया कि त्वरित सुनवाई करते हुए पिछले पांच साल में ६५ हजार से ज्यादा अपराधियों को दोषी ठहराया गया। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि राज्यपाल ने लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल कृष्ण सिंह और १४ अन्य सुरक्षा कर्मियों को उनकी उत्कृष्ट सेवाओं के लिए सम्मानित किया।
पश्चिम बंगाल में कोलकाता में रेडरोड पर गणतंत्र दिवस के अवसर पर एक रंगारंग परेड का आयोजन किया गया जहां पुलिस, अर्द्धसैनिक बलों और स्कूली बच्चों के अलावा सेना, नौसेना और वायुसेना ने भाग लिया। राज्यपाल एम के नारायणन ने गॉड ऑफ ऑनर की सलामी ली। इस अवसर पर मुख्यमंत्री ममता बैनर्जी और उनके मंत्रिमंडल सहयोगी तथा अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्ति उपस्थित थे।
केरल में तिरूअनंतपुरम में आयोजित गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह में ओमन चांडी ने राष्ट्रीय झंडा फहराया और सलामी ली। अपने भाषण में मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि भारत दुनिया में आर्थिक और राजनीतिक शक्ति के रूप में उभर रहा है। उन्होंने केंद्र में यू पी ए सरकार और केरल में यू डी एफ सरकार द्वारा गरीबों के विकास के लिए उठाए गए कदमों का जिक्र किया।
लक्षद्वीप में आज सवेरे कावारत्ती में गणतंत्र दिवस समरोह के अवसर पर इंडिया रिजर्व बटालियन और स्थानीय पुलिस के दस्तों की भव्य परेड निकाली गई और झांकियों तथा लोकनृत्यों का रंगारंग प्रदर्शन किया गया।
इस अवसर पर कोच्चि में दक्षिणी नौसैनिक कमान के फ्लैग ऑफिसर कमांडिंग इन चीफ-वाइस एडमिरल के एन सुशील ने युद्ध स्मारक पर शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि दी। उन्होंने कमान परेड ग्राउंड में आयोजित औपचारिक भव्य परेड की सलामी ली।

नागालैंड में राजधानी कोहिमा में राज्यपाल निखिल कुमार ने भारी जनसमूह के बीच तिरंगा फहराया। श्री निखिल कुमार ने कहा कि नागालैंड के लोगों ने शांति और स्थिरता की हार्दिक इच्छा व्यक्त की है। राज्यपाल ने कानून और व्यवस्था कायम करने में लगी एजेंसियों की सराहना की।---------
सिक्किम में गंगतोक में पलजोर स्टेडियम में गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह के अवसर पर द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध में हिस्सा ले चुके राज्य के कई वरिष्ठ नागरिकों को सम्मानित किया गया। राज्यपाल बाल्मिकी प्रसाद सिंह ने राज्य सरकार की आपदा प्रबंधन विभाग की वेबसाइट का शुभारंभ किया। पिछले साल सितंबर में आए भीषण भूकंप में सिक्किम को भारी क्षति पहुंची थी।अन्य राज्यों और विदेशों से भी गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह मनाने के समाचार मिल रहे हैं।

अफगानिस्तान में काबुल स्थित भारतीय दूतावास में राजदूत श्री गौतम मुखोपाध्याय ने राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि इस अवसर पर उन्होंने राष्ट्रपति का गणतंत्र दिवस संदेच्च पढ़ा।कड़ाके की सर्दी के बावजूद काबुल में भारतीय समुदाय के लोग इस अवसर पर बड़ी संख्या में उपस्थित थे। श्री मुखोपाध्याय ने तमाम विपरीत परिस्थितियों के बावजूद अफगानिस्तान के विकास और पुनर्निर्माण में मदद कर रहे भारतीय समुदाय के लोगों की सराहना की। अफगानिस्तान और भारत के बीच सदियों पुराने ऐतिहासिक और सांस्कृतिक संबंध रहे हैं और इस समय यहां कई विकास परियोजनाएं भारत के सहयोग से चलाई जा रही हैं। कंधार, जलालाबाद, मजार-ए-शरीफ और हेरात स्थित चार भारतीय वाणिज्य दूतावासों में भी गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह आयोजित किये जाने के सामचार मिले हैं। राजेन्द्र उपाध्याय आकाशवाणी समाचार काबुल।

नेपाल में भारतीय राजदूत जयंत प्रसाद ने आज सवेरे दूतावास परिसर में राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया और गणतंत्र दिवस की पूर्व संध्या पर राष्ट्रपति द्वारा दिया गया अभिभाषण पढ़ा। श्री प्रसाद ने १६ जिलों के विभिन्न अस्पतालों, गैर-सरकारी संगठनों और शिक्षण संस्थाओं को सोलह एम्बुलेंस वाहन और चार बसें भेंट कीं।------
श्रीलंका की राजधानी कोलंबो में इंडिया हाउस में भारतीय उच्चायुक्त अशोक कांथा ने तिरंगा फहराया। इस मौके पर सीमा सुरक्षा बल के जवानों की टुकड़ी ने सलामी दी और श्रीलंका की नौसेना के बैंड ने भारतीय राष्ट्रगान की धुन बजाई। श्रीलंका में रह रहे भारतीय बच्चे रंग-बिरंगे भारतीय परिधानों में तिरंगा लहराते हुए देखें गए। इस अवसर भारतीय सांस्कृतिक केंद्र के छात्रों ने संक्षिप्त सांस्कृतिक प्रस्तुति दी।------
मणिपुर विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए प्रचार आज शाम चार बजे समाप्त हो जाएगा। मतदान शनिवार को होगा। राजनीतिक दलों के नेता और उम्मीदवार मतदाताओं का समर्थन जुटाने में लगे हैं। तृणमूल कांग्रेस की नेता और पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बैनर्जी ने कल शाम अपनी पार्टी के उम्मीदवारों के समर्थन में इम्फाल में एक जनसभा में भाषण दिया।-------
उत्तराखंड में भी चुनाव प्रचार जोरों पर है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि इस महीने की ३० तारीख को होने वाले चुनाव के लिए लोग रैलियों और जनसंपर्क में जुटे हैं।प्रदेश में खाद्यान्न का कटोरा समझे जाने वाले उधमसिंहनगर जिले में ज्यादातर जगहों पर त्रिकोणीय मुकाबला बताया जा रहा है। प्रमुख राजनीतिक दल कांग्रेस, भारतीय जनता पार्टी और बहुजन समाज पार्टी के उम्मीदवार सभी सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ रहे है। इधर, समाजवादी पार्टी और वामपंथी दलों के साथ यूपीए के घटक दल तृणमूल कांग्रेस के उम्मीदवार भी चुनाव मैदान में हैं। राज्य के विकास के मुद्दे के साथ ही कृषि क्षेत्र की समस्या यहा चुनावी मुददों में शुमार हैं। इनमें ंबाढ की समस्या के स्थायी हल के साथ ही खाद और बिजली की पर्याप्त आपूर्ति का मसला प्रमुख है। परसीमन के बाद यहां सीटों की संख्या बढकर नौ हो गई है जोकि पहले सात थी। पिछले चुनाव में कांग्रेस को तीन जबकि भाजपा और बसपा को दो-दो सीटें मिलीं थीं। राघवेश पांडे वाजपुर उधमसिंह नगर।

पंजाब में सीमावर्ती इलाके के सुरक्षित निर्वाचन क्षेत्र दीनानगर में सीमानिर्धारण का ज्यादा असर देखने को नहीं मिल रहा है। यहां ८० हजार एक सौ ७७ महिला मतदाताओं समेत एक लाख ६५ हजार २४० मतदाता है। इस निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में मुख्य मुकाबला कांग्रेस की उम्मीदवार और पूर्व विधायक अरूणा चौधरी तथा भारतीय जनता पार्टी के बिशन दास धूप्पद के बीच है। दोनों के बीच कांटे की टक्कर है। यहां तीन और उम्मीदवार है। भाजपा नेता लालकृष्ण आडवानी की यात्रा के बाद इस क्षेत्र में चुनाव अभियान ने जोर पकड़ लिया है। २००७ में हुए चुनावों में इस सीट पर भाजपा को विजय मिली थी। विकास, भ्रष्टाचार और रोजगार यहां मुख्य चुनावी मुद्दें हैं। पंजाब उद्योग विभाग के सेवानिवृत उपनिदेशक श्री धूप्पद का कहना है कि वे निचले इलाकों में जलभराव की समस्या को खत्म करेंगे और निर्वाचन क्षेत्र के सभी हिस्सों में स्वच्छ पेय जल और सीवर प्रणाली उपलब्ध कराएंगे। श्रीमती अरूणा चौधरी भी विधानसभा क्षेत्र के सर्वागींण विकास की बात कहती है।-------

अफगानिस्तान में आज हेलमंड सूबे की राजधानी लश्कर गाह में एक आत्मघाती कार बम विस्फोट में कम से कम सत्रह लोगों की मौत हो गई और कई घायल हो गए। सूबे के पुलिस उपप्रमुख कमालुद्दीन सिरजई ने कहा कि ये हमला शिक्षा विभाग के पास हुआ और मृतकों में ज्यादातर नागरिक हैं। श्री सिराज ने बताया कि हताहतों में कुछ विदेशी सैनिक भी हो सकते हैं, लेकिन उन्होंने ब्यौरा नहीं दिया। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि इस विस्फोट में कम से कम छह वाहनों को नुकसान पहुंचा।------
अफगानिस्तान के उत्तरी बग़लान प्रांत में चालीस विद्रोहियों के एक दल ने कल अपने हथियार सौंप कर समर्पण कर दिया। एक स्थानीय अफगान टेलीविजन चैनल ने प्रांत के अधिकारियों के हवाले से खबर दी है कि ये लोग पिछले कुछ साल से बग़लान ए मरकज+ी जिले में सक्रिय थे। हाल में कई विद्रोही हिंसा का रास्ता छोड़ कर शांति प्रक्रिया में शामिल हुए हैं। अधिकारियों का कहना है कि अगर और विद्रोही हिंसा का रास्ता छोड़ते हैं तो बग़लान में सुरक्षा की स्थिति में सुधार हो सकता है।---------
दक्षिण पश्चिम पाकिस्तान के बलूचिस्तान प्रांत में एक चेकपोस्ट पर आज बंदूकधारियों ने अर्धसैनिक बल के पांच जवानों को मार डाला। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि यह घटना डेरा बूगती जिले के सुई इलाके में हुई। घटना के बाद हमलावर भाग गए। किसी संगठन ने घटना की जिम्मेदारी नहीं ली है, हालांकि इस तरह के हमलों के लिए आमतौर पर बलूच राष्ट्रवादी संगठनों को जिम्मेदार ठहराया जाता है।-------
इराक में दक्षिण बगदाद में आज एक बम हमले में एक पुलिसकर्मी और उसके परिवार के सदस्यों सहित कम से कम १० लोग मारे गए। पुलिस ने बताया कि यह घटना मुस्सायब शहर मे ंतड़के हुई। उन्होंने कहा कि उपद्रवियों ने अहमद जुवायन के घर पर उस समय बम फेंके जब वे और उनके परिवार के सदस्य सो रहे थे। इराकी सुरक्षा बलों ने घटनास्थल को सील कर दिया है और मामले की जांच शुरू कर दी है।-----

नाइजीरिया के राष्ट्रपति गुडलक जोनाथन ने एक उग्रपंथी इस्लामी सम्प्रदाय की बढ़ती हिंसक गतिविधियों पर लगाम लगाने के दबाव में देश के पुलिस प्रमुख को पद से हटा दिया है।राष्ट्रपति भवन से जारी एक बयान में कहा गया है कि पुलिस प्रमुख इंस्पेक्टर जनरल हाफ़िज+ रिंगिम को सेवानिवृत्ति तक अवकाश पर भेज दिया है और उनके सभी सहायकों को सेवानिवृत्त कर दिया गया है। असिस्टेंट इन्सपैक्टर जनरल मोहम्मद अबु बकर को नया पुलिस प्रमुख नियुक्त किया गया है। राष्ट्रपति कार्यालय ने इसे देश के भीतर उभरती सुरक्षा चुनौतियों से निपटने की दिशा में पहला कदम बताया है।

In Manipur, all arrangements are being made for tomorrow’s polling for the 60-member state assembly elections in free and fair manner. Altogether 279 candidates including 14 women candidates are in the fray. State Joint Chief Electoral Officer N. Praveen Singh told AIR News this morning that mobile phone handsets with inbuilt cameras have been distributed to the concerned polling officials of all 2537 polling stations through the concerned Returning Officers.
He said that mobile cameras will not only take photographs of the voters inside the polling booths but also give a immediate feedback to the Election Commission about the poll percentage and untoward incidences if any from time to time. The Election Commission is also arranging for webcast monitoring of the voting process in as many as 60 selected polling stations of 34 Assembly Constituencies.
It will also be available for public viewing through website www.manipurelection.hadrontechs.com. Altogether 350 companies of the central paramilitary forces are being deployed in this election.

Food inflation remained in the negative zone for the fourth week in a row, at minus 1.03 per cent for the week ended January 14, on account of cheaper vegetables. Food inflation, as measured by the Wholesale Price Index, had stood at minus 0.42 per cent in the previous week, and above 17 per cent in the corresponding week of 2011.
According to official data released, today, onion prices plummeted 79.1 per cent, year-on-year, for the week under review, while potato prices fell 22.46 per cent. Prices of wheat dropped 3.37 per cent. Overall, vegetables were 47.06 per cent cheaper during the week under review, from the same period last year. However, other food products, led by protein-based items, became more expensive on an annual basis.

The Centre has allocated additional foodgrains to Odisha, Assam and West Bengal at subsidized rates under the Targeted Public Distribution System. According to an official release, Odisha has been given additional allocation of nearly three thousand million tonnes of rice for distribution to over seventeen thousand above poverty line, APL families of Kandhamaal district.
West Bengal has been allocated one million tonnes rice for the drought affected people in the State. Assam has also been allocated additional foodgrains at subsidized rates.

In Chhattisgarh, one naxalite was killed in an encounter with the police in Raygarh district today. The encounter took place in the jungle near Dogripali under the Baramkela police station area.

The Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari and to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh have condoled the passing away of Kerala Governor M.O.H Farook. In his condolence message, the Vice President said that Mr. Farook was a veteran public leader who participated in the liberation of Puducherry and played an important role in both the Central and State governments in the service of the nation and the people of Puducherry.
In his message, the Prime Minister said that Farook upheld the highest traditions of public service during his long and distinguished career. The Puducherry cabinet met this morning and a condolence resolution was passed, where in the contribution of Mr Farook in the development pf Puducheery was recalled. A public holiday has been declared today and Puducherry will observer a three day state mourning. The Funeral of the late leader will take palce this evening. Leaders cutting across party lines have condoled the death of Mr. Farook, who was also Union Minister, a three thime member of parliament and had served as Ambassador to Soudi Arabia.

The UN Security Council will discuss the crisis in Syria later today. The unexpected meeting was announced by France's UN mission on its Twitter account after representatives of the council's five permanent members -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States -- held talks yesterday on the new resolution.
The resolution giving strong backing to the Arab League's initiative to end the Syria crisis has been drawn up by Britain, France, Germany and a number of Arab nations. The Arab League has called on President Bashar al-Assad to hand over powers to a deputy so that elections can be held in Syria where the UN says more than 5,400 people have died since protests started in March last year.

The United States and South Korea said today that they would start two major annual joint military exercises from today which would continue until March 9th. Separately, a joint air, ground and naval field training exercise known as Foal Eagle will be held from the 1st of March to 30th April. Seoul and Washington, say the drills are defensive and routine but the North habitually terms them a rehearsal for invasion. North Korea has denounced the exercises as war mongering.

Unidentified attackers in Pakistan fired several rocket propelled grenades at the country's top military academy in the city of Abbottabad. Local police said the attack damaged a wall but there were no casualties. Officials said the assailants fired nine rockets in a pre-dawn attack today and three of them hit the outer wall of Pakistan Military Academy. Police have launched a hunt for the attackers.

Italy has agreed to a strategic partnership aimed at supporting Afghanistan after combat forces withdraw from the country in 2014. Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti assured Afghan President Hamid Karzai that Italy will not abandon Afghanistan, as the two leaders signed the long-term agreement yesterday in Rome. The deal calls for Italy to assist Afghanistan in political, security, economic and counter-narcotics issues after 2014.

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange climbed 176 points, or 1 per cent, to 17,254 in early trade, today, on continued buying by funds and retail investors. Later, the Sensex pared some of its initial gains, but still stood a good 105 points, or 0.6 percent in positive territory, at 17,182, a short while ago. The Sensex had gained over 338 points in the past three trading sessions.
Other regional markets in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and South Korea were trading mixed, today. Over on Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.2 percent lower, overnight.

The rupee strengthened by 31 paise to trade at fresh 10-week high of 49.77 rupees against dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange market in early trade today. In Manipur, two security personnel were killed when militants ambushed their convoy at Konkon area in Ukhrul district last evening. Official reports said the CRPF personnel belonging to the 175th battalion was on their way to polling stations in the district when they were attacked. In another incident, a combined police team killed one militant in an encounter at Yaralpat in Imphal East last night.
Meanwhile, one person was injured when militants triggered a blast at the residence of a doctor in Thangmeiband assembly constituency in Imphal West this morning. Another blast occurred at Sagolband area in Imphal West today. So far, militants have carried out more than a hundred attacks on candidates and workers in the run up to the state assembly polls falling tomorrow.

The Sports Ministry is organising a month long coaching camp for the Senior Women Kabbadi team for preparing them for the upcoming World Cup. Twitter has announced that it can now selectively censor tweets on a country-by-country basis, a move which may augur well for India which urged social media websites to remove offensive contents.
The proposed move came amid a legal clash between India and global Internet giants, including Google, Yahoo, Twitter and Facebook, over pre-screening user contents and removal of offensive materials from their websites. A Delhi court had last month asked 21 social networking websites to remove derogatory contents by February 6 this year.

The promoters of Essar group Anshuman and Ravi Ruia and promoters of Loop Telecom I P Khaitan and Kiran Khaitan today failed to appear before a Delhi court trying the 2G spectrum case.
Their lawyers claimed they have not been duly served with the summons. The Special CBI Judge had earlier on December 21, issued summons to the Essar Group promoters Anshuman and Ravi Ruia, Loop Telecom promoters I P Khaitan and Kiran Khaitan, Vikash Saraf and three firms after taking cognisance of the CBI charge sheet arising out of the probe in the 2G scam.
However, representatives of the accused firms, Loop Telecom Pvt Ltd, Loop Mobile India Ltd and Essar Teleholdings today appeared in pursuance to the summons.

Taking another step towards combating black money, India has signed a multi-lateral agreement with economic powers like France and Germany to check both tax evasion and avoidance. The agreement, convention on mutual administrative assistance in tax matters, is a multilateral agreement of 31 other nations which promotes international co-operation while respecting the rights of taxpayers. The agreement has been signed under the aegis of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), at its headquarters in Paris recently.
An OECD statement said, by joining the agreement, India and other 31 signatories sent a strong signal that these countries are acting together to ensure that individuals and multinational enterprises pay the right amount of tax, at the right time and in the right place.

In Madhya Pradesh, a special train the Red Ribbon Express is spreading awareness on HIV, AIDS and National Rural Health Mission in different parts of the state. Our correspondent reports that the train, which entered the state on Wednesday, will have halts at nine railway stations.

In Assam, the number of applications under the Right to Information Act, RTI, has increased considerably in the last three years. Talking to AIR, state Information Commissioner Mohan Chandra Malakar said that over 10 thousand applicants sought information during the period. More from our correspondent;
Assam has recorded a mark improvement in the implementation of RTI act. A total of 7200 applications have been filed in the last year in comparison to 2425 in 2010.Official data revealed that most of the information seekers are from the rural areas. Rural development, education and public health engineering department received the large number of applications in the last couple of years. Kamrup, Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Darrang district are especially aware of the rights of citizen. The Commission also imposed fine of rs 3 lakh to Public Information Officers who failed to provide information within stipulated time. इराक में दो अलग अलग बम हमलों में १३ लोग मारे गए हैं। राजधानी बगदाद के दक्षिण में मुसायब शहर में आज दो सगे भाई पुलिसकर्मी और उनके आठ रिश्तेदार उस समय मारे गए जब उपद्रवियों ने एक घर को बम से निशाना बनाया। उस समय ये लोग घर में सोए हुए थे। उपद्रवियों ने पूरे घर को ध्वस्त कर दिया। एक अन्य बम हमले में किरकुक में तीन अन्य लोग भी मारे गए हैं। मुसायब क्षेत्र में बहुतेरे शिया मुसलमान रहते हैं। पिछले माह इराक से अमरीकी सेना की वापसी के बाद ऐसे हमलों में बढ़ोतरी हुई है।--------
पाकिस्तान की संसदीय समिति ने आज अमरीकी व्यापारी मंसूर एजाज को मेमो कांड में समन जारी कर दस फरवरी को हाजिर होने को कहा है। यह समिति उस रहस्यमय मेमो की जांच कर रही है, जिसने सरकार और सेना के बीच टकराव पैदा कर दिया है। एजाज ने बार-बार कहा है कि वह कथित मेमो के बारे में सबूत उपलब्ध कराने के लिये पाकिस्तान नहीं आयेगा, क्योंकि उसकी जान को खतरा है, राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा पर संसदीय समिति ने देश में सरकार द्वारा उसकी सुरक्षा के लिए किये गये प्रबंधों पर संतोष व्यक्त किया। समिति ने सत्तारूढ पाकिस्तान पीपुल्स पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता रजा रब्बानी की अध्यक्षता में हुई बैठक में एजाज के लिए किये गये सुरक्षा उपायों की समीक्षा की।2100 HRS

The display of India's Military power, achievements in various fields and cultural diversity were the highlights of the celebrations of the 63rd Republic Day in the National Capital Delhi and various states across the country today.
In Delhi, the President Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces took the salute of the marching contingents. The Prime Minister of Thailand Yingluck Shinawatra, was the Chief Guest at this year's ceremony. Synchronised military and police formations led by General Officer Commanding (Delhi) Lt Gen V K Pillai marched proudly at Rajpath to the tune of bands.
Minutes before the parade began, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh led the nation in paying homage to the martyrs by laying a wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti an eternal flame at India Gate in memory of those who laid down their lives while defending the nation. Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Defence Minister A K Antony, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other leaders watched the Parade.
After the customary 21-gun salute and unfurling of the national tricolour, the President Mrs Patil presented Ashok Chakra --the highest peacetime gallantry award posthumously to Lieutenant Navdeep Singh who died foiling an infiltration attempt by Pakistan-based terrorists along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. Four Mi-17 helicopters zoomed in from skies on the western side showering flower petals on thousands of spectators, signalling the start of the impressive parade.
The Army showcased its impressive weaponry which included T-72 tanks, Carrier Motor Tracked vehicle, Smerch missile Launcher, Multi Barrel Rocket System - Pinaka. Display of Agni-IV missile, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle - Rustom-1 and Prahaar Tactical Battlefield Support Missile also remained the centre of attraction during the function. As the country's armed and police forces demonstrated their might, states and different government departments put up an impressive show of rich cultural diversity in tableaux from 23 states and Central ministries and departments.
Election Commission which came with a tableau for the first time had 'National Voter's Day' as its theme with the objective to maximize enrollment of voters and thereby enhance the quality of Indian democracy. Spectacular flypast was showcased by Indian Air Force in which, for the first time, C-130 J Super Hercules aircraft took part at breath taking speed. The Republic day was also celebrated with great pump and show and enthusiasm in various states and the Indian Missions abroad.
In Jammu and Kashmir, despite the bone chilling minus 21 degree celcius temperature, a good number of people turned up at the Republic Day celebrations at Khree Sultan Choo Stadium in Kargil. The Chief Executive Councilor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan hoisted the National Flag. In Andhra Pradesh, pomp and gaiety marked the celebrations throughout the state today. Governor E.S.L. Narsimhan in his address on the occasion, stressed the need for maintaining peace in the state as it is a pre-requisite for all-round development and well-being of the society. In the North East, despite the boycott calls by some militant outfits in Assam, large number of people participated in the Republic Day Celebrations in Guwahati. In Nagaland in spite of the 36 hour bund call by NSCN, the republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm with the main function being held in capital Kohima where the Governor Nikhil Kumar hoisted the tri-colour amidst a huge gathering.
At the Indian High Commission in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, High Commissioner Sharat Sabharwal hoisted the national tricolour. In Bangladesh, the acting High Commissioner of India, Sanjay Bhattacharya hoisted the tricolour in Dhaka. More from our Dhaka Correspondent:

The Republic Day was celebrated in Indian Embassy at Kabul with flag hoisting by Ambassador Gautam Mukhopadhyay and reading of the President’s message on the occasion. Braving cold weather, people of Indian community based in Kabul were present in large numbers on the occasion.
In Nepal, on the occasion of the Republic Day of India, Ambassador Jayant Prasad hoisted the national flag and read out the President’s address at a function organized at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu this morning. The students from the local Kendriya Vidalaya and the Indian Cultural Centre also performed in the well attended public function.

Non Resident Indians across the gulf and West Asia region are celebrating the Republic Day with traditional gaiety and fervour. In Dubai, Republic day festivities were at its peak. Our West Asia Correspondent reports:

Twenty school children from war-torn Afghanistan today enjoyed their first glimpse of India's cultural diversity at the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.The Indian Embassy in Kabul sent these children to see India's ancient and modern structures, including the metro rail, to get a feel of how democracy helps development of a country.

Government is working to put in place an effective mechanism to prevent frauds in Corporate entities. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio, Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily said that Serious Fraud Offences Office has already been constituted to plug unethical practices in the corporate sector. He said several other reform measures are being worked upon to improve the corporate infrastructure in the country.
"We created one organisation Serious Fraud Offences Office infect that was created only by an executive order now we would like to give a statute support that is why company bill also contains this creating a special court so that it can work functionally professionally and we can also build the capacity within that organisation."

In Manipur, Campaigning for the state assembly elections on Saturday has ended. Our Imphal correspondent reports that arrangements are in full swing for the smooth conduct of Assembly elections.
"The polling personnel for the five hill districts of the state have left district headquarters for their destinations. Out of the 2357 polling stations, 1052 polling stations will be set up in these five hill districts. In the remotest Toltang Village of Tipaimukh reserved Assembly Constituency in Churachandpur District, a separate polling station will be opened for 73 voters only. Though the Tipaimukh Constituency is in the hill area, polling personnel of eight polling stations of the constituency will be ferried by boat to reach their destinations. Ibomcha Sharma, Imphal."
In Uttar Pradesh, the nomination process for the third and fourth phases of Assembly elections will resume tomorrow due to a national holiday today. Our Gorakhpur correspondent reports, Saturday is the last date for filing nominations for the third phase. In Uttarakhand, two days are left for active campaigning for the Assembly polls to be held on Monday. The leaders of different political parties have further intensified campaigning in the state.

In the fourth and final Cricket test at Adelaide, hosts Australia were 50 for 3 in their second innings against India, at stumps on Day 3. Ricky Ponting on 1 and Michael Clarke on 9 were at the crease. The Aussies, who have already won the 4-match series, now have a lead of 382 runs in their second innings. Spinner R. Ashwin bagged two Aussie wickets, while Seamer Zaheer Khan took one. Earlier resuming at the overnight score of 61 for two, India were all out for 272 in their first innings.
