पूर्व दूरसंचार मंत्री ए० राजा को टू जी स्पेक्ट्रम मामले में १५ महीने से ज्यादा समय तक जेल में रहने के बाद दिल्ली की एक अदालत ने कल जमानत दे दी और वे जेल से बाहर आ गए। सी बी आई के विशेष न्यायाधीश ओ० पी० सैनी ने डी  एम के सांसद राजा की जमानत याचिका २० लाख रूपये के निजी मुचलके और इतनी ही राशि की दो ज+मानतों पर मंजूर कर ली। अदालत ने राजा को जमानत देते समय शर्त लगाई कि वह पूर्व अनुमति के बिना तमिलनाडु नहीं जायेंगे और  न ही दूरसंचार विभाग के कार्यालय में जायेंगे। जमानत आदेश में न्यायालय ने कहा कि जमानत की अवधि में राजा किसी गवाह पर दबाव डालने की कोशिश नहीं करेंगे।
कांगे्रस ने कहा है कि इस मामले में कानून के अनुसार फैसला होगा। पार्टी प्रवक्ता राशिद अल्वी ने कहा कि पार्टी इस मामले पर कोई टिप्पणी नहीं करना चाहती, क्योंकि ये न्यायालय में विचाराधीन है।

हमने हमेशा से न्यायालय के फैसलों का सम्मान किया है। यदि अदालत ने राजा को जमानत दी है तो यह सही है। हम न्यायालय के इस फैसले का सम्मान करते हैं।
भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने कहा है कि राजा की जमानत का मतलब मामला समाप्त होना नहीं है। पार्टी प्रवक्ता शाहनवाज हुसैन ने कहा कि इस मामले के अन्य आरोपी अब भी बाहर हैं और उनके खिलाफ कार्रवाई होनी चाहिए।

टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम में एक पूर्व मंत्री को बेल मिली है, बेल मिलने का मतलब यह नहीं है कि यूपीए को कोई बेलआउट हो गई। यह मामला अभी भी बना हुआ है।

आंध्र प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्य सचिव ब्रह्‌मानंद रेड्डी और जाने माने उद्योगपति निमागड्डा प्रसाद को कल शाम सी बी आई ने गिरफ्तार कर लिया। ये गिरफ्तारियां कडप्पा से लोकसभा सदस्य जगन मोहन रेड्डी पर दर्ज अवैध सम्पत्ति के मामले में की गई है। सी बी आई के संयुक्त निदेशक ने हैदराबाद में संवाददाताओं को बताया कि पूछताछ में दोनों आरोपियों ने प्रसाद के स्वामित्व वाली कम्पनी को जमीन आवंटित करने में अपनी भूमिका की पुष्टि की है। इसके साथ ही जगन मोहन रेड्डी पर दर्ज अवैध सम्पत्ति के मामले में गिरफ्तार होने वालों की संख्या बढ़कर तीन हो गयी है।

केन्द्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो-सीबीआई ने आज बड़े सवेरे बंगलूर और शिमोगा में कर्नाटक के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री बी.एस. येदियुरप्पा के निवासों पर छापे मारे। छह सदस्यों के दल ने इन शहरों में पांच स्थानों पर छापे मारे। श्री येदियुरप्पा पर अवैध खनन से जुड़े आरोपों की छानबीन चल रही है। उच्चतम न्यायालय ने इन आरोपों की जांच सीबीआई को सौंपी है।

महानियंत्रक तथा लेखा परीक्षक-कैग ने रेलवे कार्यों को जल्दी निपटाने के लिए राज्य सरकारों से बेहतर तालमेल का सुझाव दिया है। कैग ने कहा है कि सुरक्षा संबंधी कामों को रेवले द्वारा कम प्राथमिकता दी जा रही है। संसद में कल पेश की गई कैग रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि भारी मात्रा में धन उपलब्ध होने के बावजूद मात्र २०११ में बड़ी संख्या में सड़क ओवर ब्रिज और अंडर ब्रिज संबंधी कार्य अधूरे पड़े थे। कैग रिपोर्ट के अनुसार रेल दुर्घटनाओं का एक बड़ा कारण बनने वाले बिना चौकीदार के रेल क्रासिंग समाप्त करने के लिए ये निर्माण कार्य बहुत जरूरी हैं। दुर्घटना रोकने के उपायों में धीमी प्रगति की चर्चा करते हुए कैग ने कहा है कि २००१ से किए गए फील्ड परीक्षणों के बावजूद रेलवे ने अभी तक कोई मजबूत और भरोसेमंद टकराव-रोधी यंत्र तैयार नहीं किया है।

सरकार एयर इंडिया संकट को समाप्त करने के लिए हर प्रयास करेगी। कल लोकसभा में इस बारे में बहस का जवाब देते हुए नागर विमानन मंत्री अजित सिंह ने कहा कि सरकार एयर इंडिया के संकट को हल करने के लिए पायलटों सहित सभी कर्मचारियों से सहयोग मांगेगी।

हम जनता के धन को बार-बार एयर इंडिया में खर्च नहीं कर सकते। यह बात पूरी तरह से स्पष्ट है। एयर इंडिया के पाास आपनी कार्य-क्षमता दिखाने का यह आखिरी मौका है। चाहे ग्राउंड हैंडलर्स हों या पायलट, कर्मचारियों के सहयोग के बिना एयर इंडिया का चलना मुश्किल है।
श्री अजित सिंह ने बताया कि सरकार ने एयर इंडिया को आर्थिक संकट से उबारने के लिए तीस हजार करोड़ रुपये के पैकेज को मंजूरी दी है। उन्होंने कहा कि एयर इंडिया के कर्मचारियों के लिए मानव संसाधन नीति संबंधी न्यायमूर्ति धर्माधिकारी समिति की रिपोर्ट, सभी वर्गों को विश्वास में लेने के बाद लागू की जाएगी। एयर इंडिया के पायलटों से यात्रियों सहित सभी सम्बद्ध पक्षों के हितों को देखते हुए हड़ताल समाप्त करने की अपील करते हुए श्री अजित सिंह ने कहा कि सरकार उनके खिलाफ बदले की भावना से कार्रवाई नहीं करेगी।
इस बीच एयर इंडिया ने पायलटों की हड़ताल से यात्रियों को हो रही असुविधाओं को दूर करने के लिए एक आपात योजना लागू की है। एयर लाइंस के प्रवक्ता ने आकाशवाणी को बताया कि इस आपात योजना के तहत एयर इंडिया ने दिल्ली से पांच स्थानों टोरोंटो, न्यूयॉर्क, फ्रेंकफर्ट, लंदन और शिकागो के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय उड़ाने चलाई हैं। प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि निकट भविष्य में और राष्ट्रीय तथा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय उड़ाने चलाई जाएंगी।
प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि इस महीने की १८ तारीख तक एयर इंडिया की उड़ानों की बुकिंग रद्द कर दी गई है।

प्रत्यक्ष कर संहिता विधेयक संसद के मॉसनूस सत्र में लाया जाएगा। कल राज्यसभा में वित्तमंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने विनियोग संख्या-३ विधेयक-२०१२ के साथ वित्त विधेयक-२०१२ को चर्चा और पारित करने के लिए पेश करते हुए यह जानकारी दी। श्री मुखर्जी ने कहा कि उन्हें संसद का बजट सत्र समाप्त होने के बाद ही प्रत्यक्ष कर संहिता के बारे में स्थायी समिति की सिफारिशों को ध्यान से देखने का मौका मिलेगा।

बजट सत्र समाप्त होने के बाद मैं सभी सिफारिशों पर विचार कर पाऊंगा। फिर मंत्रिमंडल की मंजूरी के बाद, प्रत्यक्ष कर संहिता विधेयक को संसद के मानसून सत्र में दोनों सदनों में रखा जायेगा।

राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील ने मीडिया से महिलाओं, लड़कियों और बच्चों से जुड़े सामाजिक मामलों में संवेदनशीलता बरतने को कहा है। कल नई दिल्ली में एक समारोह में राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि दहेज, बाल विवाह, कन्या भ्रूण हत्या और बालिकाओं की हत्या का समाज पर बुरा असर पड़ा है और मीडिया इन समस्याओं के बारे में जागरूकता फैला सकता है।
श्रीमती पाटील ने कहा कि पिछले दो दशकों के दौरान सूचना और संचार प्रौद्योगिकी में हुई प्रगति की बदौलत मीडिया की पहुंच कई गुना बढ़ गई है। इसलिए मीडिया को समाज को प्रभावित करने की अपनी क्षमता का उपयोग जिम्मेदारी के साथ करना चाहिए।

देश में चालू विपणन वर्ष में गेहूं की रिकॉर्ड खरीद हुई है। अब तक २ करोड़ ९२ लाख २० हजार टन गेहूं खरीदा जा चुका है। भारतीय खाद्य निगम के आंकड़ों के अनुसार सोमवार तक गेहूं की खरीद में २४ फीसदी से ज्यादा की वृद्धि दर्ज की जा चुकी है। पिछले वर्ष इसी अवधि में २ करोड़ ३४ लाख ९० हजार टन गेहूं खरीदा गया था।
गेहूं की पैदावार के लिहाज से भारत दुनिया का दूसरा प्रमुख देश है। फसल वर्ष २०११-१२ में यहां ९ करोड़ २ लाख ३० हजार टन गेहूं की पैदावार हुई थी, जबकि उसके पिछले वर्ष में ८ करोड़ ६८ लाख ७० हजार टन गेहूं का उत्पादन हुआ था।

सीरिया में संयुक्त राष्ट्र पर्यवेक्षक मिशन से सम्बद्ध वाहनों का एक काफिला देसी बम की चपेट में आ गया। काफिले के तीन वाहन नष्ट हो गए लेकिन संयुक्त राष्ट्र के सभी पर्यवेक्षक सुरक्षित हैं। संयुक्त राष्ट्र के विशेष दूत के प्रवक्ता अहमद फवाजी ने विस्फोट की पुष्टि की है। ब्यौरा हमारे संवाददाता से-

सीरिया में हमा प्रांत के चीको इलाके में सड़क के किनारे बम धमाका उस वक्त हुआ जब संयुक्त राष्ट्र पर्यवेक्षक मिशन का काफिला वहां मौजूद था। एक हफ्ते पहले जनरल रॉबर्ट वुड के काफिले के पास दोयरा में हुए विस्फोट के बाद यह दूसरा मौका है जब संयुक्त राष्ट्र के काफिले के पास धमाका हुआ। इस बीच मिशन में सैनिक पर्यवेक्षकों की संख्या बढ़कर २११ हो गई है। कुल ३०० पर्यवेक्षक इस महीने के अंत तक सीरिया में मौजूद रहेंगे।

सिक्किम आज अपना ३७ वां राज्योत्सव मना रहा है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया कि इस अवसर पर आज राजधानी गंगतोक के चिंतन भवन में एक समारोह का आयोजन किया जा रहा है।

१६ मई १९७५ वह दिन था जब इस छोटे से हिमालय राज्य के लोगों की अपने नीति का मालिक स्वयं बनने की करीब २५ वर्षों की जद्दोजहद अपने सही मुकाम पर पहुंची। इसी दिन सिक्किम ने करीब तीन सौ वर्ष पुराने राजतंत्र का परित्याग करके लोकतंत्र अपनाया और भारतीय गणराज्य की राजनीतिक, आर्थिक और सामाजिक मुख्यधारा में शामिल हुआ। इस छोटे से दूरदराज के राज्य ने उसके बाद से कभी भी पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा और सभी क्षेत्रों में पर्याप्त प्रगति की। एक के बाद एक सत्ता संभालने वाली सरकारों ने भी ईमानदार कोशिशें की कि सिक्किम की प्राकृतिक सुंदरता शांति और सद्भाव के साथ ही इसकी अलग सांस्कृतिक पहचान भी हर हाल में कायम रहे।

उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने राज्य के ८२० प्रखंडों में से १०८ प्रखंडों में सिंचाई के लिए निःशुल्क बोरिंग योजना स्थगित करने का फैसला किया है। सरकार ने यह क़दम भू-जल स्तर में चिंताजनक गिरावट के मद्देनजर उठाया है। राज्य के लघु सिंचाई और जल संसाधन मंत्री पारसनाथ यादव ने कहा कि राज्य में भू-जल स्तर बहुत तेजी से घटता जा रहा है।

Former Telecom Minister A. Raja was yesterday released from jail after getting bail in the 2G Spectrum case. Raja has served over 15 months in jail. The court granted bail to the DMK MP on a personal bond of 20 lakh rupees and two sureties of the same amount. The court, while granting bail, imposed conditions on Raja that he would not visit Tamil Nadu without its prior permission and would not go to the office of the Department of Telecom, DoT. The court, in its 14-page bail order, also said that Raja would not try to influence any witnesses while on bail. The former Telecom Minister was arrested on February the 2nd, last year.
Briefing reporters in New Delhi, BJP spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain said that the other accused in this case are still out and that they should be booked.

One minister got bail in 2G specturm case, but getting bail does not mean that UPA has been bailed out. The case is still open.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi, while replying to a question, Congerss party spokesman Rashid Alvi said that the law will take its own course in this case.
We always have respect for the decision taken by any court of law. If court has granted bail to Mr. Raja, it is alright. We still have respect for the decision taken by the court.

 The Government will make every effort to end the crisis in Air India. Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said this while replying to a discussion in the Lok Sabha yesterday. He said, the government will seek the co-operation of all employees, including the pilots, to resolve the crisis facing the national flag carrier.

We cannot keep pouring public money into Air India. Let's be very clear about it. It is the last chance for performance which has to be shown by Air India and I would like to say that without the co-operation of the employees whether they are ground handlers or whether they are pilots, Air India will not survive and will not fly.
 Mr. Singh said, the government has approved a bailout package of 30 thousand crore rupees for its turn-around over the years. He also said, that the Justice Dharmadhikari Committee report relating to the human resource policy for its employees will be implemented after taking all sections into confidence. Calling upon the pilots to end their strike in the interest of all stake holders including passengers, Mr Ajit Singh said that the government would not be vindictive to them.
The National Carrier, in the meantime, has implemented its contigency plan to avoid inconvinience to passengers due to the Pilots' strike.

The Direct Taxes Code (the DTC) Bill, which seeks to overhaul the 50 year-old Income-tax laws, will be brought in Parliament in the monsoon session. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee stated this in the Rajya Sabha yesterday, as he moved the Appropriation No-3 Bill 2012 alongwith Finance Bill, 2012 for consideration and passing. Mr. Mukherjee said he will have the opportunity after the Budget session is over, to go through all the recommendations of the Standing committee and thereafter approval of the Cabinet.

I will have the opportunity after the budget session is over to go through all the recommendations and thereafter with the approval of the cabinet.  In the next monsoon session, I will bring the DTC Bill for the approval of both the Houses and at that stage many of the recommendations of the Standing Committee will be accepted.

The government has taken several steps to check the sexual abuse of children in orphanages. Stating this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha yesterday, Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramchandran said, efforts are being made to ensure that all child care institutions are brought within the ambit of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2000. He said regular inspections are carried out in orphanages and CCTV cameras have been installed in most government-run homes.

The government says, it is serious about the plight of the 1,200 Indian workers stranded in Angola. Replying to the concerns of members during Zero Hour, minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi said in the Rajya Sabha yesterday that the government is taking steps for their return. About 1,200 Indians working with a cement factory in Angola were stranded in the South African nation after protesting against the management for non-payment of dues.

The Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG has suggested better co-ordination with state governments for the speedy execution of Railways works. The CAG observed that safety related works are being accorded a low priority by the Railways. The report tabled in Parliament yesterday said, though sufficient funds were available, a large number of road overbridge and road underbridge works were pending as on March 2011 and that the actual budget allocations reflected a low priority due to inadequate commitment by the Railways. The CAG report said that Construction of these are essential for eliminating unmanned level crossings which are the major reason for train accidents.

The CBI has conducted early morning raids on the residences of former Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa in Shimoga and Bangalore today. A six-member team raided five locations in both  cities. The raids were conducted in the backdrop of a probe being initiated in the illegal mining charges faced by Yeddyurappa. The Supreme Court had allowed CBI inquiry on the allegations of illegal mining against Yeddyurappa.

The CBI has arrested former special secretary to Andhra Pradesh Brahmananda Reddy and Industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad last evening in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case involving Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.The CBI Joint Director told reporters in Hyderabad that both have been arrested following revelations confirming their role in land allotment to a company owned by Prasad during the investigation. He said they will be produced in the court today. With this, the number of arrested in illegal assets case against Jagnamohan Reddy has gone up to three.

The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has asked the media to handle key social issues like those relating to women, girls and children with sensivity. Addressing a function organised by a Malayalam daily in New Delhi yesterday, the President said that dowry, child marriage, female foeticide and female infanticide have had a crippling effect on society and that media can create an awareness about these problems. She said, with advances in information and communication technologies over the last two decades, the reach of the media has spread manifold. There is, therefore, need for the media to handle its influencing capacity with a deep sense of responsibility to the nation.

Wheat procurement in the country  has reached an all-time high of 29.22 million tonnes so far in the current marketing year. According to data compiled by the Food Corporation of India wheat procurement till Monday was up by over 24 per cent at a record 29.22 million tonnes in the 2012-13 marketing year against 23.49 million tonnes in the same period a year ago.Wheat production in India, the world's second largest producer, is estimated at a record 90.23 million tonnes in the 2011-12 crop year (i.e. July-June) as against 86.87 million tonnes in the previous year.

Sikkim is celebrating its 37th State Day today. It was on this day in 1975 that this erstwhile kingdom joined the Indian Union as its 22nd State following the 38th Constitution Amendment. Our correspondent reports that a function has been organised at Chintan Bhavan in the capital Gangtok to mark the day.

It was on this day that Sikkim acquired the status of a full democracy by joining the political, economic and social mainstream of the Indian Union after giving up the three hundred years old monarchy. This small landlocked state has, since then, never looked back and has made sufficient progress in various fields. The successive State Governments have also made genuine endeavour to ensure that Sikkim’s natural beauty, peace and tranquility as well as its distinct cultural identity is maintained at all cost. In Syria, a convoy of U.N. vehicles belonging to the UN Observer Mission was hit by an improvised explosive device. Three of the vehicles were damaged but none of the UN personnel were injured. Spokesman for the UN Special envoy, Ahmad Fawzi confirmed the blast. More from our West Asia correspondent,

 The powerful roadside bomb blast hit the UN observer mission’s convoy as it was going through Cheikoun near Hama province. Although three of the four vehicles were damaged ; none of the UN personnel was injured in the incident.
