पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा चुनाव के दूसरे चरण का मतदान शांतिपूर्वक चल रहा है। पहले पांच घंटों में ५० प्रतिशत से अधिक वोट पड़ चुके थे। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि इस चरण में तीन जिलों के ५० निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में कड़ी सुरक्षा के बीच वोट डाले जा रहे हैं।
मतदान, कड़ी सुरक्षा के बीच जारी है। नादिया में एक राजनीतिक दल के चुनाव एजेन्ट सहित दो लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है। एक अन्य व्यक्ति को मुर्शीदाबाद जिले में भरतपुर में गिरफ्तार किया गया है। इन दोनों जिलों से एक-एक मतदान अधिकारी की वहां से हटाकर दूसरी जगह तैनाती की गई है। मुर्शीदाबाद कें तेरह, नदिया के चार और वीरभूम जिले के दो मतदान केन्द्रों पर मतदान के बहिष्कार की खबरें है। तकनीकी खराबी के कारण ६५ इलेक्ट्रोनिक वोटिंग मशीनों को बदलना पड़ा है। कुल मिलाकर मतदान शान्तिपूर्वक चल रहा है। कोलकाता से अरिजीत चक्रवती के साथ अंजू सेठिया, आकाशवाणी समाचार।

प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने पश्चिम बंगाल में मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के नेतृत्व वाली वाममोर्चा सरकार पर ठीक तरह से कामकाज न करने का आरोप लगाया है और कहा है कि उसके ३४ वर्ष के कार्यकाल में राज्य में बहुत कम विकास हुआ। आज सुबह बर्धवान जिले के कटवा में एक चुनाव रैली को सम्बोधित करते हुए डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि राज्य में केवल कांग्रेस और तृणमूल कांग्रेस गठबंधन ही स्थिरता ला सकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि अगर कांग्रेस-तृणमूल कांग्रेस गठबंधन सत्ता में आया तो पंचायती राज संस्थाएं मजबूत होंगी। अल्पसंख्यकों के लिए बेहतर भविष्य का वायदा करते हुए डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि कृषि क्षेत्र में नई टैक्नोलॉजी का इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा और राज्य में पर्यटन को बढ़ावा देने के लिए उपाय किए जाएंगे। चुनाव रैली को सम्बोधित करते हुए वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने राज्य की वाममोर्चा सरकार पर सभी मोर्चों पर विफल रहने का आरोप लगाया। उन्होंने कहा कि अगर कांग्रेस-तृणमूल कांग्रेस गठबंधन सत्ता में आया तो बिजली, ग्रामीण विकास और कानून और व्यवस्था में सुधार पर विशेष जोर दिया जाएगा।

केन्द्रीय मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद ने लोकपाल विधेयक मसौदा समिति के सदस्यों में किसी तरह के परिवर्तन से इंकार किया है। आज नई दिल्ली में एक समारोह के दौरान संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में श्री खुर्शीद ने कहा कि सरकार इस विधेयक के बारे में न्यायमूर्ति संतोष हेगड़े के विचार प्राप्त करने का इंतजार कर रही है। श्री खुर्शीद भी दस सदस्यों की इस समिति के सदस्य हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि हमें लोगों के चरित्र पर बहस करने की बजाय, गुण-दोष के आधार पर इस विधेयक की जांच करनी चाहिए।

झारखंड में अतिक्रमणं के खिलाफ राज्य सरकार के अभियान का विरोध बढ़ रहा है। राज्य में सरकार के इस अभियान से करीब एक लाख लोग विस्थापित हो गये हैं। यह अभियान रांची उच्च न्यायालय की देखरेख में चल रहा है। अवैध कब्जों के खिलाफ अभियान के विरोध में नक्सलियों के बंद के कारण राज्य के ग्रामीण और दूरदराज के इलाकों में जनजीवन प्रभावित है। खनिजों के लदान और लम्बी दूरी की बस सेवायें भी बाधित हैं। विस्थापित लोगों ने सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की इकाइयों, हैवी इंजीनियरिंग कारपोरेशन और राज्य सचिवालय के मुख्य क्षेत्रों को रोक रखा है।
हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि इस मामले की गम्भीरता को देखते हुए अर्जुन मुंडा सरकार ने कहा है कि प्रभावित लोगों को तुरन्त राहत कार्यों के लिए एक करोड़ रूपये जारी करने के अलावा वह २८ अप्रैल तक नई पुनर्वास नीति की भी घोषणा करेगी।
झारखंड में इन दिनों हाईकोर्ट के निर्देश पर जारी अधिक्रमण हटाओं अभियान से बड़े पैमाने पर प्रभावित लोगों में असंतोष व्याप्त है। इसी माहौल का राजीनितीकरण करने की कोशिश की जा रही है, जिसके तहत आज माओवादियों का बंद और कुछ विपक्षी पार्टियों का धरने एवं प्रदर्शन का दौर शामिल है। इन सबके बीच मूल मुद्दा यह है कि पिछले ३०-४० वर्षों से सरकारी जमीन तथा सरकारी कंपनियों को आवंटित जमीन एवं मकानों पर अतिक्रमण होने देने एवं बनाए रखने में किन-किन सरकारी अफसरों की भूमिका दही है, जिसका खामियाजा आज भुगतना पड़ रहा है। उम्मीद है कि राची हाईकोर्ट के निर्देश पर सीबीआई जांच से यह बात बाहर निकलकर आएगी। इसी बीच प्रभावित लोग राज्य सरकार द्वारा राहतकार्य एवं नई पुनर्वास नीति की आस लगाए बैठे है। राची से आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए मैं राजेश सिन्हा।

नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशालय तवांग में हेलीकॉप्टर दुर्घटना के मद्देनजर हेलीपोर्ट्स विशेष रूप से दूरदराज के इलाकों में स्थित हेलीकॉप्टर अड्डों की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था की समीक्षा करेगा। नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशक, ई०के० भारत भूषण ने नई दिल्ली में एक समारोह के दौरान संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में कहा कि दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हेलकॉप्टर का वॉयस डाटा रिकॉर्डर बरामद कर लिया गया है और उसे जांच के लिए मुम्बई भेजा जायेगा। इस दुर्घटना में १७ लोग मारे गये थे। उन्होंने अरूणाचल प्रदेश सरकार के इस दावे का खंडन किया है कि दुर्घटना के लिए पवन हंस हेलीकॉप्टर लिमिटेड जिम्मेदार है क्योंकि उसके हेलीकॉप्टर उड़ान योग्य नहीं हैं और उनका रख-रखाव नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशालय के दिशा-निर्देशों के अनुसार नहीं हो रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि तवांग में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हेलीकॉप्टर चौदह वर्ष पुराना था और उसे इस वर्ष के अंत तक उड़ान भरने की योग्यता का प्रमाणपत्र प्राप्त था।

केन्द्रीय वाणिज्य और उद्योग मंत्री आनन्द शर्मा बंगलादेश की दो दिन की यात्रा पर आज ढाका पहुचे। वहां पहुंचने पर उन्होंने बंगलादेश के वाणिज्य मंत्री लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल(सेवानिवृत्त) फारूक खान से विचार-विमर्श किया। उनकी यह यात्रा दोनों देशों के बीच प्रतिनिधिमंडल स्तर की बातचीत के बाद हो रही है। वाणिज्य मंत्री ने कहा है कि दोनों देशों ने जून में सीमा पर हाट बाजार लगाने का फैसला किया है। भारत, बंगलादेश से वस्त्रों का का कोटा बढ़ाने पर भी सहमत हो गया है। श्री आनन्द शर्मा के साथ अधिकारियों का १२ सदस्यीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल और २० सदस्यीय व्यापारिक प्रतिनिधिमंडल भी गया है। श्री शर्मा कल बंगलादेश के प्रधानमंत्री से भी मिलेंगे।

श्री सत्य साईं बाबा की हालत बेहद नाजुक बनी हुई है। उनके महत्वपूर्ण अंगों पर इलाज का असर नहीं हो रहा है। सत्य साईं इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ हायर मेडिकल सांइसेज के निदेशक डॉ० ए एन सफाया ने एक हेल्थ बुलेटिन में बताया कि साईं बाबा वेंटीलेटर की मदद से सांस ले रहे हैं और उन्हें लगातार डायलिसिस पर रखा जा रहा है।
इस बीच, पुट्टापार्थी में कल से सत्य साई ट्रस्ट के सदस्यों की बैठकों का दौर जारी है। शहर में अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा बल तैनात किए गए हैं। जिला प्रशासन ने शहर में श्रद्धालुओं की उमड़ती भीड़ को देखते हुए व्यापक प्रबंध किए हैं।

आंध्रप्रदेश में पिछले ३६ घंटे से विभिन्न भागों में बारिश हो रही है। अचानक आई बरसात से लगभग १५ जिले प्रभावित हुए हैं। हमारी संवाददाता ने बताया है कि तेज हवा और ओलों के साथ आई इस बेमौसम वर्षा के कारण रबी की फसल को नुकसान पहुंचा है।
पिछले कुछ दिनों में आंध्र प्रदेश में हुई बेमौसम बारिश और हेल - की वजह से तीन लोगों की मौत हुई है। प्रसिद्ध रबी फसल की कटाई के समय में यह बारिश की वजह से १३ जिले में फसल और १५ जिलों में बागवानी फसलों को भारी नुकसान पहुंचा है। तुरंत यह नुकसान को सही अनुमान लगाने के लिए आज सुबह हैदराबाद में हुई एक उच्च स्तरीय समीक्षा बैठक में मुख्यमंत्री किरण कुमार रेड्डी रिविन्यू अधिकारियों को आदेश दिए है। उधर तटीय आंध्र प्रदेश में आवंटित एक साइक्लोन सकुर्लेशन की वजह से आने वाले ३६ घंटे तक सावधान रहने के लिए भी उन्होंने अधिकारियों को आदेश दिए हैं। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए हैदराबाद से लक्ष्मी।

केरल के मुख्यमंत्री वी.एस अच्युतानंदन ने राज्य के सर्वदलीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल द्वारा उठाए गए मुद्दों पर विचार के लिए तत्काल केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक बुलाने का प्रधानमंत्री से आग्रह किया हैं। इस प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने एंडोसल्फान कीटनाशक के उत्पादन पर रोक लगाने की मांग की हैं।
श्री अच्युतानंदन ने तिरूअनन्तपुरम में संवाददाता सम्मेलन में केन्द्र सरकार के इस फैसले को गलत बताया कि इस पर रोक लगाने से पहले और प्रयोग किये जाने चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि जब इससे कई लोग मर रहे हैं तो जांच में और समय नहीं गंवाना चाहिए।

पंजाब में जालंधर जिले के पजियन गांव के पास आज सवेरे डी एम यू रेलगाड़ी और एक कार की टक्कर में एक ही परिवार के पांच सदस्यों की मौत हो गयी और दो गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए। पुलिस सूत्रों ने बताया है कि ये लोग इब्बान गांव के पास एक भोग रस्म में भाग लेने के लिए जा रहे थे।

संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून ने सीरिया में बड़ी संख्या में विरोध प्रदर्शन कर रहे लोगों पर हमलों की आलोचना की हैं। सुरक्षा बलों ने कल वहां सरकार के विरोध में प्रदर्शन कर रहें लोगों को तितर-बितर करने के लिए कम से कम ७२ लोगों को मार डाला था। आज भी कई लोग घायल हुए हैं । श्री बान की मून ने प्रदर्शनकरियो पर कारवाई तुरन्त रोकने को कहा हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि सीरिया के राष्ट्रपति बसर अल असद की सरकार को अन्तर्राट्रीय मानवाधिकारों ,अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता, शांतिपूर्ण तरीके से एकत्र होने और प्रेस की आजादी का सम्मान करना चाहिए। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि बड़ी संख्या में लोगों की हत्या की स्वतंत्र, पारदर्र्शी और प्रभावी जांच की मांग भी दोहराई गई।

पश्चिमी अफगानिस्तान के कपीसा क्षेत्र में आज नाटो का एक हेलीकॉप्टर दुर्घटना ग्रस्त हो गया हैं। इस दुर्घटना में मारे गए चालक दल के दो सदस्यों का शव मिल गया हैं। हेलीकॉप्टर में किसी यात्री के होने की जानकारी नहीं मिली हैं। संगठन ने कहा है कि दुर्घटना की जांच की जा रही हैं।

आज विश्व पुस्तक दिवस है। प्रत्येक वर्ष २३ अप्रैल को विश्व पुस्तक और कॉपीराइट दिवस मनाया जाता है। यूनेस्को द्वारा पठन पाठन और प्रकाशन को बढ़ावा देने और बौद्धिक संपदा को कॉपीराइट देने के उद्देश्य से यह दिवस मनाया जाता है। यह दिवस पहली बार १९९५ में मनाया गया था।

In West Bengal, peaceful voting is on for the second phase of Assembly elections in the State. Over 50 per cent polling was recorded till noon. Our correspondent reports that the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Sunil Gupta said 65 EVMs have been replaced due to technical snag.
The voting is on in three of South Bengal district amidst tight security. Two persons including one election agent of a political party were arrested in Nadia while another one was arrested from Bharatpur in Murshidabad district. Two presiding officers in Nadia and Murshidabad districts were also replaced. Boycotts of votes have been reported from 13 polling booths in Murshidabad, 4 in Nadia and 2 in Birbhum districts. 65 Electronic Votting Machines have also been replaced due to technical snag. The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has criticised the CPI(M)-led Left Front Government in West Bengal for non-performance and lack of development in the last 34 years of its rule. Addressing an election rally at Katwa in Burdwan district this morning, Dr. Singh said that only the Congress and the Trinamul-Congress combine can bring stability in the state. He said that the local bodies like the Panchayat would be strengthened if the Congress-Trinamul Congress combine comes to power in West Bengal. A senior IPS officer has alleged that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had instructed his officers to allow the majority community to vent out their anger during the 2002 post Godhara riots. Sanjeev Bhatt- a Gujarat cadre IPS officer made the allegation implicating Modi in the riots in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court on the 14th of April 14, in which he has also accused the Apex Court-appointed Special Investigation Team of a cover-up operation. Reacting to Bhatt’s allegation, Gujarat government spokesperson Jainarayan Vyas described the affidavit as a view that has been expressed but, it can only be said to be either correct or wrong once it passes through the entire process of adjudication.
Mr. Bhatt, a 1988-batch IPS officer who was posted as DCP at the State Intelligence Bureau during 2002 riots, said in the affidavit that he had attended the February 27 meeting called by Modi, where he asked officers to be indifferent to the rioters. Meanwhile, Mr. Bhatt has said that he was only discharging his duty. Talking to the media persons in Ahmedabad, he said that he has given his version of the truth in the affidavit.

Union Minister Salman Khurshid today ruled out any changes in the Lokpal Bill drafting committee members. Aviation regulator DGCA will conduct audit of safety measures at heliports, particularly those situated in remote areas, in the wake of the chopper crash in Tawang that claimed 17 lives. Director General of Civil Aviation E K Bharat Bhushan told reporters on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi that the Voice Data Recorder of the ill-fated chopper has been recovered and sent to Mumbai for decoding. He rejected Arunachal Pradesh government's claims that Pawan Hans Helicopter Ltd, PHHL, was responsible for the crash as their helicopters were not airworthy and not maintained as per the DGCA guidelines. He elaborated that the 14-year-old helicopter that crashed in Tawang had the Certificate of Airworthiness valid till this year-end.
Meanwhile, PHHL DGM (Marketing) Sanjay Kumar said that all their helicopters are fully airworthy and fully certified by the regulatory authority, that is the DGCA. He added that all their pilots are also well experienced and well qualified.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Anand Sharma reached Dhaka on a two-day visit to Bangladesh. Following his arrival, the Commerce Minister held discussions with his Bangladeshi counterpart, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Faruk Khan. Later taking to reporters , the Commerce Minister said that both the countries have decided to inaugurate the Border Haat Trade by June. In International News, The United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, has condemned the Syrian government for the killing of scores of demonstrators yesterday and injuring many today. He has called for it to stop immediately.
Ban said, President Bashar al-Assad's government must respect international human rights, including the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, as well as the freedom of the press. He also repeated his demand for an independent, transparent and effective investigation into the killings. BACK HOME, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited as claimed that its power sales have surged by 2.5 per cent and its transmission and distribution losses have come down by 2 per cent in 2010-11. Corporation Chairman and Managing Director K D Chaudhri said in Patiala that metered sale has gone up by 2.5 per cent accruing saving of Rs 350 crore. Giving details of infrastructure development, Chaudhri said new power generation projects are on schedule and would start generation from September, 2012 onwards. He said that once these projects are commissioned, Punjab will be able to meet its total power requirement on its own. Highlighting the major demand side management initiatives taken, he said nearly 10 lakh energy meters have already been shifted outside the consumer premises in rural areas to plug the leakage of revenue. After shifting of meters, most of these consumers have replaced ordinary lamps with CFL’s resulting into reduction in peak demand by about 250 MW.

पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा चुनाव के दूसरे चरण का मतदान शांतिपूर्वक चल रहा है। पहले पांच घंटों में ५० प्रतिशत से अधिक वोट पड़ चुके थे। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि इस चरण में तीन जिलों के ५० निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में कड़ी सुरक्षा के बीच वोट डाले जा रहे हैं।

झारखंड में अतिक्रमणं के खिलाफ राज्य सरकार के अभियान का विरोध बढ़ रहा है। राज्य में सरकार के इस अभियान से करीब एक लाख लोग विस्थापित हो गये हैं। यह अभियान रांची उच्च न्यायालय की देखरेख में चल रहा है। अवैध कब्जों के खिलाफ अभियान के विरोध में नक्सलियों के बंद के कारण राज्य के ग्रामीण और दूरदराज के इलाकों में जनजीवन प्रभावित है। खनिजों के लदान और लम्बी दूरी की बस सेवायें भी बाधित हैं। विस्थापित लोगों ने सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की इकाइयों, हैवी इंजीनियरिंग कारपोरेशन और राज्य सचिवालय के मुख्य क्षेत्रों को रोक रखा है।
हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि इस मामले की गम्भीरता को देखते हुए अर्जुन मुंडा सरकार ने कहा है कि प्रभावित लोगों को तुरन्त राहत कार्यों के लिए एक करोड़ रूपये जारी करने के अलावा वह २८ अप्रैल तक नई पुनर्वास नीति की भी घोषणा करेगी।

नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशालय तवांग में हेलीकॉप्टर दुर्घटना के मद्देनजर हेलीपोर्ट्स विशेष रूप से दूरदराज के इलाकों में स्थित हेलीकॉप्टर अड्डों की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था की समीक्षा करेगा। नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशक, ई०के० भारत भूषण ने नई दिल्ली में एक समारोह के दौरान संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में कहा कि दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हेलकॉप्टर का वॉयस डाटा रिकॉर्डर बरामद कर लिया गया है और उसे जांच के लिए मुम्बई भेजा जायेगा। इस दुर्घटना में १७ लोग मारे गये थे। उन्होंने अरूणाचल प्रदेश सरकार के इस दावे का खंडन किया है कि दुर्घटना के लिए पवन हंस हेलीकॉप्टर लिमिटेड जिम्मेदार है क्योंकि उसके हेलीकॉप्टर उड़ान योग्य नहीं हैं और उनका रख-रखाव नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशालय के दिशा-निर्देशों के अनुसार नहीं हो रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि तवांग में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हेलीकॉप्टर चौदह वर्ष पुराना था और उसे इस वर्ष के अंत तक उड़ान भरने की योग्यता का प्रमाणपत्र प्राप्त था।

केन्द्रीय वाणिज्य और उद्योग मंत्री आनन्द शर्मा बंगलादेश की दो दिन की यात्रा पर आज ढाका पहुचे। वहां पहुंचने पर उन्होंने बंगलादेश के वाणिज्य मंत्री लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल(सेवानिवृत्त) फारूक खान से विचार-विमर्श किया। उनकी यह यात्रा दोनों देशों के बीच प्रतिनिधिमंडल स्तर की बातचीत के बाद हो रही है। वाणिज्य मंत्री ने कहा है कि दोनों देशों ने जून में सीमा पर हाट बाजार लगाने का फैसला किया है। भारत, बंगलादेश से वस्त्रों का का कोटा बढ़ाने पर भी सहमत हो गया है। श्री आनन्द शर्मा के साथ अधिकारियों का १२ सदस्यीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल और २० सदस्यीय व्यापारिक प्रतिनिधिमंडल भी गया है। श्री शर्मा कल बंगलादेश के प्रधानमंत्री से भी मिलेंगे।

श्री सत्य साईं बाबा की हालत बेहद नाजुक बनी हुई है। उनके महत्वपूर्ण अंगों पर इलाज का असर नहीं हो रहा है। सत्य साईं इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ हायर मेडिकल सांइसेज के निदेशक डॉ० ए एन सफाया ने एक हेल्थ बुलेटिन में बताया कि साईं बाबा वेंटीलेटर की मदद से सांस ले रहे हैं और उन्हें लगातार डायलिसिस पर रखा जा रहा है।
इस बीच, पुट्टापार्थी में कल से सत्य साई ट्रस्ट के सदस्यों की बैठकों का दौर जारी है। शहर में अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा बल तैनात किए गए हैं। जिला प्रशासन ने शहर में श्रद्धालुओं की उमड़ती भीड़ को देखते हुए व्यापक प्रबंध किए हैं।

आंध्रप्रदेश में पिछले ३६ घंटे से विभिन्न भागों में बारिश हो रही है। अचानक आई बरसात से लगभग १५ जिले प्रभावित हुए हैं। हमारी संवाददाता ने बताया है कि तेज हवा और ओलों के साथ आई इस बेमौसम वर्षा के कारण रबी की फसल को नुकसान पहुंचा है।
पिछले कुछ दिनों में आंध्र प्रदेश में हुई बेमौसम बारिश और हेल - की वजह से तीन लोगों की मौत हुई है। प्रसिद्ध रबी फसल की कटाई के समय में यह बारिश की वजह से १३ जिले में फसल और १५ जिलों में बागवानी फसलों को भारी नुकसान पहुंचा है। तुरंत यह नुकसान को सही अनुमान लगाने के लिए आज सुबह हैदराबाद में हुई एक उच्च स्तरीय समीक्षा बैठक में मुख्यमंत्री किरण कुमार रेड्डी रिविन्यू अधिकारियों को आदेश दिए है। उधर तटीय आंध्र प्रदेश में आवंटित एक साइक्लोन सकुर्लेशन की वजह से आने वाले ३६ घंटे तक सावधान रहने के लिए भी उन्होंने अधिकारियों को आदेश दिए हैं। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए हैदराबाद से लक्ष्मी।

केरल के मुख्यमंत्री वी.एस अच्युतानंदन ने राज्य के सर्वदलीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल द्वारा उठाए गए मुद्दों पर विचार के लिए तत्काल केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक बुलाने का प्रधानमंत्री से आग्रह किया हैं। इस प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने एंडोसल्फान कीटनाशक के उत्पादन पर रोक लगाने की मांग की हैं।
श्री अच्युतानंदन ने तिरूअनन्तपुरम में संवाददाता सम्मेलन में केन्द्र सरकार के इस फैसले को गलत बताया कि इस पर रोक लगाने से पहले और प्रयोग किये जाने चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि जब इससे कई लोग मर रहे हैं तो जांच में और समय नहीं गंवाना चाहिए।

पंजाब में जालंधर जिले के पजियन गांव के पास आज सवेरे डी एम यू रेलगाड़ी और एक कार की टक्कर में एक ही परिवार के पांच सदस्यों की मौत हो गयी और दो गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए। पुलिस सूत्रों ने बताया है कि ये लोग इब्बान गांव के पास एक भोग रस्म में भाग लेने के लिए जा रहे थे।

संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून ने सीरिया में बड़ी संख्या में विरोध प्रदर्शन कर रहे लोगों पर हमलों की आलोचना की हैं। सुरक्षा बलों ने कल वहां सरकार के विरोध में प्रदर्शन कर रहें लोगों को तितर-बितर करने के लिए कम से कम ७२ लोगों को मार डाला था। आज भी कई लोग घायल हुए हैं । श्री बान की मून ने प्रदर्शनकरियो पर कारवाई तुरन्त रोकने को कहा हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि सीरिया के राष्ट्रपति बसर अल असद की सरकार को अन्तर्राट्रीय मानवाधिकारों ,अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता, शांतिपूर्ण तरीके से एकत्र होने और प्रेस की आजादी का सम्मान करना चाहिए। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि बड़ी संख्या में लोगों की हत्या की स्वतंत्र, पारदर्र्शी और प्रभावी जांच की मांग भी दोहराई गई।

In West Bengal, peaceful voting is on for the second phase of Assembly elections in the State. Over 50 per cent polling was recorded till noon. Our correspondent reports that the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Sunil Gupta said 65 EVMs have been replaced due to technical snag.
The voting is on in three of South Bengal district amidst tight security. Two persons including one election agent of a political party were arrested in Nadia while another one was arrested from Bharatpur in Murshidabad district. Two presiding officers in Nadia and Murshidabad districts were also replaced. Boycotts of votes have been reported from 13 polling booths in Murshidabad, 4 in Nadia and 2 in Birbhum districts. 65 Electronic Votting Machines have also been replaced due to technical snag. The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has criticised the CPI(M)-led Left Front Government in West Bengal for non-performance and lack of development in the last 34 years of its rule. Addressing an election rally at Katwa in Burdwan district this morning, Dr. Singh said that only the Congress and the Trinamul-Congress combine can bring stability in the state. He said that the local bodies like the Panchayat would be strengthened if the Congress-Trinamul Congress combine comes to power in West Bengal. A senior IPS officer has alleged that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had instructed his officers to allow the majority community to vent out their anger during the 2002 post Godhara riots. Sanjeev Bhatt- a Gujarat cadre IPS officer made the allegation implicating Modi in the riots in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court on the 14th of April 14, in which he has also accused the Apex Court-appointed Special Investigation Team of a cover-up operation. Reacting to Bhatt’s allegation, Gujarat government spokesperson Jainarayan Vyas described the affidavit as a view that has been expressed but, it can only be said to be either correct or wrong once it passes through the entire process of adjudication.
Mr. Bhatt, a 1988-batch IPS officer who was posted as DCP at the State Intelligence Bureau during 2002 riots, said in the affidavit that he had attended the February 27 meeting called by Modi, where he asked officers to be indifferent to the rioters. Meanwhile, Mr. Bhatt has said that he was only discharging his duty. Talking to the media persons in Ahmedabad, he said that he has given his version of the truth in the affidavit.

Union Minister Salman Khurshid today ruled out any changes in the Lokpal Bill drafting committee members. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi, Mr Khurshid said the government is looking forward to receiving inputs from Justice Santosh Hegde on the bill. Aviation regulator DGCA will conduct audit of safety measures at heliports, particularly those situated in remote areas, in the wake of the chopper crash in Tawang that claimed 17 lives. Director General of Civil Aviation E K Bharat Bhushan told reporters on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi that the Voice Data Recorder of the ill-fated chopper has been recovered and sent to Mumbai for decoding. He rejected Arunachal Pradesh government's claims that Pawan Hans Helicopter Ltd, PHHL, was responsible for the crash as their helicopters were not airworthy and not maintained as per the DGCA guidelines. He elaborated that the 14-year-old helicopter that crashed in Tawang had the Certificate of Airworthiness valid till this year-end.
Meanwhile, PHHL DGM (Marketing) Sanjay Kumar said that all their helicopters are fully airworthy and fully certified by the regulatory authority, that is the DGCA. He added that all their pilots are also well experienced and well qualified.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Anand Sharma reached Dhaka on a two-day visit to Bangladesh. Following his arrival, the Commerce Minister held discussions with his Bangladeshi counterpart, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Faruk Khan. This was followed by delegation-level talks between the two sides. Later taking to reporters , the Commerce Minister said that both the countries have decided to inaugurate the Border Haat Trade by June. India has also agreed to increase the quota for readymade garments from Bangaldesh from 8 million pieces to 10 million pieces for this financial year.

Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan has urged the Prime Minister to convene an urgent cabinet meeting to discuss issues raised by the all party delegation from the state, which met him yesterday. The delegation sought a ban on the production of endosulfan pesticide.
Addressing a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram today, Mr Achuthanandan described the union government's stance that more studies are required before a ban is imposed, as atrocious. He said there is no time for taking up further studies when several people are dying. He said the union government already has the findings of the ICMR study conducted in 2002. Sathya Sai Baba continues to be in a very critical condition today. A N Safaya, Director, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, said in a medical bulletin issued in Puttaparthi, Sai Baba is still on ventilator support. A cycle of slow hemodialysis has been completed on him this morning. A panel of doctors is monitoring him round-the-clock.
Meanwhile, the members of the Sri Satya Sai Trust are holding series of meetings at Puttaparti since yesterday while additional security forces have been deployed in the town. District authorities are making elaborate arrangements so that any eventuality will be met while thousands of anguished devotees are thronging the pilgrim town.

In International News, The United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, has condemned the Syrian government for the killing of scores of demonstrators yesterday and injuring many today. He has called for it to stop immediately.
Ban said, President Bashar al-Assad's government must respect international human rights, including the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, as well as the freedom of the press. He also repeated his demand for an independent, transparent and effective investigation into the killings. Ban noted measures such as the lifting of a decades-old state of emergency in Syria but stressed that only an inclusive dialogue and the effective implementation of reforms can address the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people and ensure social peace and order.

BACK HOME, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited as claimed that its power sales have surged by 2.5 per cent and its transmission and distribution losses have come down by 2 per cent in 2010-11. Corporation Chairman and Managing Director K D Chaudhri said in Patiala that metered sale has gone up by 2.5 per cent accruing saving of Rs 350 crore. Giving details of infrastructure development, Chaudhri said new power generation projects are on schedule and would start generation from September, 2012 onwards. He said that once these projects are commissioned, Punjab will be able to meet its total power requirement on its own. Highlighting the major demand side management initiatives taken, he said nearly 10 lakh energy meters have already been shifted outside the consumer premises in rural areas to plug the leakage of revenue. The Government will recruit more people to the Central Armed Police Forces like Cenral Reserve Police Force and Border Security Forces from Jammu and Kashmir. An official press release said that relaxation in eligibility conditions has been proposed for all the permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the proposed amendment all sections of the people in the entire State of Jammu and Kashmir will be benefited and it will be at par with States like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura so far as relaxed eligibility conditions are concerned.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah has expressed the hope that tourism in the State would regain its prime glory and become the choicest tourist destination at the global level once again.
