• दुनिया का सबसे वांछित आतंकवादी ओसामा बिन लादेन मारा गया। विश्व नेताओं ने इसे आतंकवाद के खिलाफ संघर्ष में एक बड़ी उपलब्धि बताया।
• पाकिस्तान के, आतंकवादियों की शरणस्थली बनने पर चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए भारत ने मुंबई आतंकी हमले के षड्यंत्रकारियों को धर-पकड़ने को कहा।

आतंकवादी संगठन अलकायदा का मुखिया ओसामा बिन लादिन पाकिस्तान में मारा गया है। ओसामा के मारे जाने की घोषणा अमरीकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा ने आज सवेरे की।
आज मेरे निर्देश पर अमरीका ने पाकिस्तान के एबौटाबाद में उस कम्पाउंड में एक अभियान चलाया। अमरीकियों की एक छोटी सी टीम ने अदम्य साहस और क्षमता के साथ अभियान को अंजाम दिया। कोई अमरीकी घायल नहीं हुआ। उन्होंने यह भी ध्यान रखा कि कोई नागरिक भी हताहत न हो। गोलीबारी के बाद उन्होंने ओसामा बिन लादेन को मार दिया और उसके शव को कब्जे में ले लिया।
श्री ओबामा ने पाकिस्तान से फिर कहा कि वह आतंकवाद के खिलाफ लड़ाई में सहयोग दे। अमरीकी अधिकारियों ने ओसामा का का शव बरामद कर लिया। भारतीय समय के अनुसार रात लगभग एक बजे शुरू हुई इस कार्रवाई का ब्यौरा हमारे समाचार डेस्क से।

पाकिस्तान की राजधानी इस्लामाबाद से लगभग 90 किलोमीटर उत्तर में एबटाबाद में पाकिस्तान मिलिटरी अकादमी से थोड़ी ही दूर एक मकान पर अमरीकी स्पेशल फोर्स के सैनिकों की कार्रवाई में ओसामा के साथ तीन पुरूष और एक महिला भी मारी गई। चालीस मिनट की इस कार्रवाई में दो अमरीकी लडाकू हैलिकॉप्टर भी शामिल हुए। मशीनी खराबी के कारण एक हैलिकॉप्टर नष्ट हो गया, लेकिन कोई अमरीकी सैनिक हताहत नहीं हुआ। इस पूरी कार्रवाई के बारे में पाकिस्तान सहित किसी देश को कोई जानकारी नहीं दी गई। एक अमरीकी अधिकारी ने कहा है कि इस तरह की कार्रवाई की सूचना गिने-चुने लोगों के पास ही रहती है। इस अधिकारी का यह भी कहना था कि इस बात की छानबीन की जाएगी कि ओसामा पाकिस्तान के एबटाबाद शहर में एक ऐसे मोहल्ले में कैसे रह रहा था, जहां सेना के बड़े-बड़े सेवानिवृत्त अधिकारी रहते हैं। समाचार डेस्क से मैं चंद्रिका जोशी।
ओसामा बिन लादेन सऊदी अरब के एक रईस का बेटा था। अपना व्यापारिक साम्राज्य छोड़कर वह आतंकवाद के रास्ते पर क्यों और कब चल पड़ा, इसके बारे में कई पुष्ट-अपुष्ट कहानियां कही जाती हैं। एक बिल्डर बाप के बेटे ओसामा का एक आतंकवादी गिरोह के सरगना तक का सफर किसी फिल्मी कहानी से कम नहीं।


ओसामा का जन्म 10 मार्च 1957 में सऊदी अरब में हुआ था। 1998 में उसने अलकायदा की बुनियाद रखी। 11 सितंबर 2001 को न्यूयॉर्क में वर्ल्ड ट्रेड टावरों में आतंकवादी हमला उसकी सबसे बड़ी हरकत थी। 1998 में केन्या में अमरीकी दूतावास और 2000 में यमन के अदन बंदरगाह पर अमरीकी नौसैनिक पोत यू.एस.एस.-कोल पर हमले के पीछे भी ओसामा का ही हाथ बताया जाता है। सऊदी अरब से निकाला गया ओसामा तालिबान शासन के दौरान अफगानिस्तान में रहा। अफगानिस्तान में गठबंधन सेनाओं की कार्रवाई पर ओसामा तोरा-बोरा की पहाड़ियों से भागने के बाद इधर-उधर छिपता फिर रहा था। हिंदी समाचार कक्ष से मैं हरि संधु।

भारत ने ओसामा बिन लादिन के मारे जाने को एक बड़ी घटना बताया है। ओसामा के पाकिस्तान में मिलने से भारत की यह चिंता एक बार फिर उजागर हुई है कि विभिन्न आतंकवादी गुटों को पाकिस्तान में शरण दी जाती है। प्रधानमंत्री, विदेशमंत्री और गृहमंत्री ने आज अपने-अपने बयानों में इसी तथ्य की तरफ संकेत किया।
प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने ओसामा बिन लादेन के मारे जाने को आतंकवाद के खात्मे की दिशा में एक बड़ा कदम बताया है। उन्होंने कहा कि अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय समुदाय विशेषकर पाकिस्तान को ऐसे गुटों से निपटने के लिए सभी प्रयास करने चाहिए। विदेशमंत्री एस.एम. कृष्णा ने इसी धारणा का अनुमोदन करते हुए कहा कि आतंकवाद पर काबू पाने के विश्व के संयुक्त प्रयासों में कमी नहीं होनी चाहिए। उनका इशारा पाकिस्तान में लश्करे-तैयबा जैसे आतंकवादी गुटों की मौजूदगी की ओर था। इसी आतंकवादी गुट ने 2008 में मुंबई हमलों को अंजाम दिया था। विदेशमंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता विष्णु प्रकाश ने कहा भारत के पड़ौस में आतंकवादियों के लिए सुरक्षित शरण स्थलों को खत्म किया जाना चाहिए।
आतंकवादी ताकतों के खिलाफ यह विश्व की बड़ी उपलब्धि है। पिछले कई वर्षों में आतंकवाद के कारण महिलाओं और बच्चों सहित हजारों निर्दोष लोगों की जानें गई है। आतंकवाद पर काबू पाने के विश्व के संयुक्त प्रयासों में कमी नहीं होनी चाहिए और भारत के पड़ोस में आतंकवादियों के लिए सुरक्षित शरण स्थलों को खत्म किया जाना चाहिए।
गृह मंत्री पी चिदम्बरम ने कहा मुंबई हमलों के षडयंत्रकर्ताओं और हमलावरों को निर्देश देने वालों को भी पाकिस्तान में पनाह मिली हुई है। उन्होंने पाकिस्तान सरकार से कहा कि वह इन हमलों के आतंकवादियों को निर्देश देने वाले उन संदिग्धों को गिरतार करे जिनके नाम और आवाज के नमूने पाकिस्तान के गृहमंत्री को सौंपे गये हैं। भारतीय जनता पार्टी के अध्यक्ष नितिन गडकरी ने जयपुर में कहा कि पाकिस्तान में ओसामा के मारे जाने से यह साबित हो गया है कि आतंकवादियों को पाकिस्तान से समर्थन मिल रहा है।

कांग्रेस ने भी पाकिस्तान को आतंकवादियों के लिए सुरक्षित शरण स्थल बताया है और अंतराष्ट्रीय समुदाय से आग्रह किया है कि वे एकजुट होकर आतंकवाद से निपटें। पार्टी प्रवक्ता मनीष तिवारी ने कहा कि दुनियाभर में आतंकवाद की समस्या से निपटने के लिए अलग-अलग मानदंड नहीं हो सकते। समाचार कक्ष से मैं राजेंद्र चुघ।
ओसामा के मारे जाने का दुनिया के अनेक नेताओं ने स्वागत किया है। अफगानिस्तान से लेकर केन्या तक विश्व समुदाय ने आतंकवाद के इस सरगना के अंत पर राहत की सांस लेते हुए बयान दिए हैं।
अफगानिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति हामिद करज+ई ने कहा है कि पाकिस्तान में ओसामा के मारे जाने से यह साबित हो गया है कि आतंकवाद से संघर्ष का केंद्र अफगानिस्तान में नहीं है।
ब्रिटेन के प्रधानमंत्री डेविड कैमरन ने इस खबर का स्वागत किया है।
मैं अमरीकी सेना को बधाई देना चाहूंगा जिन्होंने बहादुरी का ये काम किया हैं। हमें उन सभी लोगों को धन्यवाद देना चाहिए जिन्होंने बिना किसी पहचान के दिन-रात मेहनत की ताकि हम आतंक के खतरे से सुरक्षित रह सके। बेशक कोई भी चीज उन परिवारों के लोगो को वापस नहीं ला सकती जो आतंक का शिकार हुए ,लेकिन कम से कम उन्हें यें तसल्ली होगी कि इसके लिए जिम्मेदार व्यक्ति अब जिंदा नहीें हैं।

फ्रांस के राष्ट्रपति निकोला सरकोज+ी ने ओसामा की मौत को आतंकवाद के साथ संघर्ष में एक महत्वपूर्ण पड़ाव बताया है।
अमरीका की विदेशमंत्री हिलेरी क्लिंटन ने कहा है कि आतंकवाद के खिलाफ लड़ाई जारी रहेगी।
केन्या के प्रधानमंत्री रायला ओडिंगा ने भी इसे अपने देश के लिए एक अच्छी खबर बताया है क्योंकि लगभग एक दशक पहले अलकायदा ने केन्या को निशाना बनाया था।

बंगलादेश के विदेश मंत्रालय ने एक बयान में कहा है कि उनकी सरकार हर तरफ के आतंकवाद के सख्त खिलाफ है।
ऑस्ट्रेलिया की प्रधानमंत्री जुलिया गेलार्ड ने कहा है कि इससे अलकायदा को झटा तो लगा है, लेकिन वह खत्म नहीं हुआ है। उन्होंने कहा कि आतंकवाद के खिलाफ लड़ाई जारी रहनी चाहिए। समाचार डेस्क से मैं चंद्रिका जोशी।
पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री यूसुफ रजा गिलानी ने कहा है कि पाकिस्तान की राजधानी के नजदीक अमरीका द्वारा ओसामा बिन लादेन का मारा जाना एक बहुत बड़ी जीत है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि पाकिस्तान, किसी अन्य देश में आतंकवादी गतिविधियों के लिए अपनी जमीन के इस्तेमाल की अनुमति नहीं देगा। यह पूछे जाने पर कि आतंकवाद के खिलाफ कार्रवाई में पाकिस्तान कहां तक सहयोग देगा श्री गिलानी कहा कि उन्हें इसकी विस्तृत जानकारी नहीं है।
ओसामा की मौत के बाद विभिन्न देशों ने सुरक्षा उपाय कड़े कर दिए हैं। अमरीका ने अपने नागरिकों को खासकर पाकिस्तान की यात्रा न करने की सलाह जारी की है। विदेश यात्रा पर गए और विदेशों में रह रहे अमरीकी नागरिकों को सतर्क किया गया है कि ओसामा पर इस कार्रवाई के बाद अमरीकियों के खिलाफ हिंसा बढ़ सकती है।
इधर, नई दिल्ली में अमरीकी दूतावास और आस-पास के इलाकों की सुरक्षा कड़ी कर दी गई है।

लोकपाल विधेयक का मसौदा तैयार करने वाली संयुक्त समिति में शामिल सरकार और प्रबुद्ध समाज के प्रतिनिधियों ने तीस जून तक इसे अंतिम रूप देने का संकल्प किया है। समिति के सदस्य और मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल ने आज की बैठक के बाद बताया कि प्रबुद्ध समाज के सदस्यों ने उन उद्देश्यों और आम सिद्धान्तों के बारे में एक दस्तावेज प्रस्तुत किया, जिस पर यह कानून आधारित होगा। उन्होंने कहा कि बातचीत बहुत अच्छी रही हैं।
मीटिंग बहुत अच्छी रही, कोई मतभेद नहीं था, क्योंकि हमारा लक्ष्य केवल एक है कि अच्छा, एक मजबूत कानून, भ्रष्टाचार को खत्म करने के लिए इंटरड्यूज किया जाए पार्लियामेंट सेसन में यह हमारा लक्ष्य है और इसको हम जरूर पाकर रहेंगे।
श्री कपिल सिब्बल ने कहा कि दोनों पक्ष एक-दूसरे के प्रस्तावों पर गौर करेंगे। शनिवार को होने वाली बैठक में इन पर फिर से बातचीत होगी। सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्ता अरविन्द केजरीवाल ने आगे होने वाली बैठकों के बारे में जानकारी दी।

सरकार ने एयर इंडिया के हड़ताली पॉयलटों के साथ किसी समझौते से इंकार किया है। नई दिल्ली में आज शाम संवाददाताओं से नागरिक विमानन मंत्री वयालार रवि ने कहा कि पॉयलट जब तक हड़ताल पर हैं, उनके साथ कोई बातचीत नहीं होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार, न्यायालय की अवमानना पर अदालत के फैसले का इंतजार और उसका पालन करेगी।

एयर इंडिया के पायलटों की हड़ताल आज छठे दिन भी जारी रहने के कारण इसकी घरेलू उड़ाने प्रभावित हैं। हडताल के कारण 90 प्रतिशत से अधिक उड़ाने रद्द करनी पड़ी हैं। एयरलाइन्स ने टिकटों की बुकिंग भी बद कर दी है। इससे पहले दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय ने पायलटों को हड़ताल तुरंत खत्म करने का निर्देश दिया था। न्यायालय ने प्रबंधन और पायलटों की दलीलें सुनी और मामला कल तक स्थगित कर दिया।
इस बीच, नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशालय ने प्राइवेट एयरलाइन कंपनियों से कहा है कि वे चाहें तो उन मार्गो पर अपनी उड़ानें संचालित कर सकते हैं, जिन पर हड़ताल के कारण एयर इंडिया की उड़ानें रद्द कर दी गई हैं।

सरकार ने फैसला किया है कि गरीबी रेखा से नीचे के परिवारों को राशन की दुकानों के जरिये और पचास लाख टन गेहूं तथा चावल उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा। इससे इन परिवारों को अनाज की बढ़ती कीमतों से कुछ राहत मिल सकेगी।
गेहूं और चावल का आवंटन बढ़ाने का फैसला, आज नई दिल्ली में वित्तमंत्री की अध्यक्षता में अधिकार प्राप्त मंत्रियों के दल ने किया।

अरूणाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री दोरजी खांडू के लापता हैलीकॉप्टर के तलाशी अभियान के दौरान पश्चिमी कमेंग जिले में 66 वर्ग किलोमीटर के क्षेत्र में फंसे होने का संकेत है। इसरो द्वारा जारी उपग्रह चित्रों में धातु की एक वस्तु धरती पर दिखाई दी है। यह स्थान ऊंचाई पर काफी घने जंगल के बीच है।

पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा चुनाव के चौथे चरण के मतदान की सभी तैयारियां पूरी कर ली गई हैं। पूर्वी मेदनीपुर, हुगली, हावड़ा और बर्धमान जिले के कुछ हिस्सों की 63 सीटों के लिए कल वोट डाले जायेंगे।

The World's most dreaded terrorist Osama bin Laden was shot dead today in a pre-dawn helicopter-borne secret US operation in a house just yards away from Pakistan's Military Academy in Abbottabad. US helicopters carrying special forces personnel swooped down on a million dollar compound near an upscale town, 120 kms north of Pakistani capital Islamabad, and shot dead the 54-year-old al-Qaeda chief in a swift operation which lasted only 40 minutes. The operation climaxed an almost 10-year long massive worldwide manhunt for Osama, who the US believes is the mastermind of the 2001 9/11 attacks. The world's most wanted terrorist was found living in a fortress-like two-storey house in Abbottabad,far away from remote mountain caves where most intelligence estimates put him in recent years. The news of the killing  of the world's most prominent terror mastermind was broken to the world by US President Barack Obama, who made the announcement live from the White House.

   

At my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbott bad, Pakistan. A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama Bin Laden and took custody of his body.   

       

Besides the al-Qaeda chief, who carried a bounty of 25 million US Dollars, two couriers, one of whom was his son and the other a woman, reportedly used as a human shield, were killed in the operation, US officials said, it was through these couriers that bin Laden had been traced. Later in a press conference, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, United States will continue to take the fight to the Taliban.

 

Continued cooperation will be just as important in the days ahead, because even as we mark this milestone, we should not forget that the battle to stop AI Qaida and its syndicate of terror will not end with the death of bin Laden. Indeed, we must take this opportunity to renew our resolve and redouble our efforts.

   

 Hours after they had shot Osama down, US officials said, he was buried at sea, apparently over fears that his land burial may become a site to attract his followers. The officials, however, did not specify the place or the sea where the al-Qaeda chief's burial was carried out. The US did not notify its ally Pakistan about the operation, citing maintaining complete secrecy as the reason. Born in 1957, Laden was the son of Saudi Arabia's wealthiest construction magnate.  He created and funded the al Qaeda terror network. He was accused of being behind a number of atrocities, including the attacks on New Yorks  World Trade Centre and Washington on 11 September 2001. Osama was suspected of playing large roles in the 1998 bombings of two US Embassies in Africa and the attack on the USS Cole in the Yemeni port of Aden in October 2000. The Saudi exile had been on the run since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan, overthrew the ruling Taliban regime, which harboured bin Laden.  

India today described the killing of dreaded terrorist and Al Qaida founder Osama bin Laden as a milestone in the global war against terror. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh described it as a significant step forward. In a statement, Dr Singh  hoped that it will deal a decisive blow to the Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups. He also said that the international community and Pakistan in particular, must work comprehensively to end the activities of all such groups who threaten civilized behaviour and kill innocent men, women and children. The External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and Home Minister P. Chidambaram, in their separate statements, underlined New Delhi's concern about Pakistan being a sanctuary for terrorists. Mr. Krishna said, the operation to kill the world's most wanted terrorist in Pakistan's Abbotabad, brings to a close, an almost decade-long search for the head of the Al Qaeda.

 In a similar statement, Home Minister Chidambaram said, the killing of Osama Bin Laden deep inside Pakistan, underlines India's concern that terrorists belonging to different organisations find sanctuary in Pakistan which vindicates India's stand. In that context, Chidambaram raised the subject of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack plotters still being in Pakistan. Mr. Chidambaram called upon the government of Pakistan to arrest the persons whose names have been handed over to the Interior Minister of Pakistan as well as provide voice samples of certain persons who are suspected to be among the handlers of the terrorists. The BJP demanded that Pakistan hand over to India the terrorists responsible for the 26/11 attacks. BJP has also alleged that Pakistan is promoting terrorism in the world.  BJP President, Nitin Gadkari said that after Osama Bin Laden's death in Pakistan, it is proved that terrorists are getting support from Pakistan. Gadkari was addressing a party workers meeting at Jaipur. The Congress today described Pakistan as a safe sanctuary for terrorism and urged the international community to have a cohesive approach in dealing with the menace of terrorism. Meanwhile, security has been stepped up around the US Embassy and the diplomatic enclave in New Delhi. The United States has issued a worldwide travel alert for its citizens, especially those living in Pakistan.

The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy has praised the United States for its tenacity in hunting down Osama bin Laden, calling it  a major event in the world's struggle against terrorism.  Britain and Russia also welcomed the news. Pakistan  Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said in an interview  that the US killing of Osama bin Laden, not far from the Pakistani capital, is a great victory. He said, Pakistan will not allow its soil to be used against any other country for terrorism. Asked about the extent to which Pakistan cooperated in the operation, Mr. Gilani  said, he did not know the details. Bangladesh described the American operation as a major development in the global war on terror. Saudi Arabia has said that elimination of the Al-Qaeda leader is a step towards supporting international efforts to combat terrorism and dismantle its cells. The Country’s official news agency, quoting official source said that the elimination of the deviant thought that stands behind him, will help the international fight against terrorism. The statement added that people of the Saudi Kingdom were among those targeted most by this terrorist . Meanwhile, Iraq's army and police is on high alert for possible revenge attacks in the country. Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel joins the American people on this historic day of the elimination of Osama Bin Laden. Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard said the news of Osama bin Laden's death  was welcome, but cautioned that Al-Qaeda has been hurt today, but it is not finished and war against terrorism must continue.  German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said, Laden's death was good news for all men in the world who think freely and are peaceful.  Italian Foreign Minister, Franco Frattini called it a victory of good over evil, of justice over cruelty.

The government and the civil society activists, who are members of the Drafting Committee of the Lokpal Bill, today pledged to expedite the process to finalise the Bill by the 30th of next month. Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal, who is the member of the Drafting Committee, told reporters after the meeting that the civil society members on the Committee presented a document with respect to the objects of the Bill which enunciated the general principles underlining  the Bill. He said, there was no difference of opinion during the meeting and talks were very good. Mr. Sibal explained that civil society members and the government will think about the proposals given by the two sides and discuss them again in the next meeting on Saturday. Civil society members in the Committee, Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan spoke on similar lines. In a related development, Delhi High Court today dismissed a plea seeking removal of social activist Anna Hazare from the Lokpal Bill Committee.

 The government has ruled out any negotiation with the striking Air India Pilots. Talking to newsmen in New Delhi this evening, the Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi said that no talks will be held with the pilots till they are on strike. He said, the government will wait and abide by the Delhi High court's order in the Contempt of Court proceeding initiated on the plea of the Air India management. Delhi High Court has directed the pilots to end their strike immediately. The strike entered the sixth day today. The Court also asked the management to consider the demands of the striking pilots. The Court heard both the pilots and the management and adjourned the matter till tomorrow. The domestic operations of Air India have been severely hit due to the strike leading to cancellation of over 90 percent flights. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has asked private airlines to come up with the routes they want to operate where Air India has cancelled its flights.

The government has decided to allocate five million tonnes of additional wheat and rice for distribution through ration shops to families living below poverty line .This additional sanction  is expected to give them some relief from high food inflation which was 8.76 per cent for the week-ended April 16.The decision was taken by an empowered group of ministers (EGoM) headed by Finance Minister  Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi this evening. Our correspondent reports,the additional allocation for the 65.20 million BPL families is over and above 35 kg per family per month, sold at the ration shops at highly subsidised rates.

The search operations to locate the missing  chopper with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu on board will now be confined to a 66-sq km area in West Kameng district where ISRO satellite images have shown metallic objects on the ground. Defence sources said in New Delhi today, several ground teams of searchers  are trying to reach the probable locations near Naga Jiji, which are heavily forested and in the  high altitude. Meanwhile, Border Road Organisation employees, based in Banga Ganga camp, have also claimed that they heard the sound of a big explosion from the nearby forest on Saturday morning,almost the same time when the chopper went missing.

The stage is set for the 4th phase of Assembly Elections in West Bengal.  The voting will take place in 63 seats covering East Midnapore, Hooghly, Howrah and parts of Burdwan districts tomorrow.

Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh today granted final approval to Odisha Government for diversion of 1,253 hectares of forest land for Posco's steel project. The South Korean steel major will however not be allowed to export raw material from the proposed project.
