कर्नाटक में नेतृत्व परिवर्तन के लिए बी एस येदियुरप्पा के समर्थन में आठ मंत्रियों के इस्तीफे की पेशकश के बाद सत्तारूढ़ भारतीय जनता पार्टी एक बार फिर संकट के घेरे में आ गई है। संकेत है कि येडियुरप्पा विधानसभा से त्यागपत्र देने की सोच रहे हैं। येदियुरप्पा को कल रात राज्य में चार साल पुरानी भाजपा सरकार के आठ मंत्रियों ने इस्तीफे सौंप दिये। इस्तीफे मुख्यमंत्री डी वी सदानंद गौड़ा को संबोधित हैं। येडियुरप्पा के आवास पर उनके वफादार मंत्रियों और विधायकों के कल दिन भर चले विचार-विमर्श के बाद इस्तीफे दिये गये। श्री येडियुरप्पा के नेतृत्व में असंतुष्टों से जुड़े एक मंत्री ने बताया कि कम से कम १५ विधायकों ने भी त्यागपत्र सौंपे हैं जो विधानसभा अध्यक्ष के जी बोपैया को संबोधित हैं। उच्चतम न्यायालय के येडियुरप्पा के खिलाफ भाई-भतीजावाद, गैरकानूनी रूप से भूमि अधिग्रहण और खनन कंपनियों को लाभ पहुंचाने के मामलों में सीबीआई जांच का आदेश आने के बाद यह फैसला लिया गया है। उच्चतम न्यायालय ने सीबीआई से अपनी रिपोर्ट तीन अगस्त तक देने को कहा है।-----
सरकार ने जोर देकर कहा है कि एयर इंडिया के हड़ताली पायलटों को बातचीत से पहले काम पर लौटना चाहिये। कड़ा रूख अपनाते हुये नागर विमानन मंत्री अजित सिंह ने कहा कि सरकार हड़ताल वापस लिये जाने के बाद हर मसले पर बातचीत के लिए तैयार है। जो भी पायलट्स की समस्या है, उनको बातचीत करनी चाहिए थी। हम आज भी बातचीत के लिए तैयार हैं। लेकिन उन्होंने इस बीच में जो कदम उठाया है, जो हाईकोर्ट का जजमेंट आया है। यह इलिगल स्ट्राइक है। पैसेंजर का ध्यान रखते हुए पायलट्स को स्ट्राइक वापिस ले लेनी चाहिए, जो उनकी समस्याएं थीं, हम उन पे हर समस्या पर बात करने के लिए तैयार हैं। श्री अजित सिंह ने कहा कि पायलटों को याद रखना चाहिए कि एयर इंडिया घाटे पर चल रही है और इसे बचाये रखने के लिए जनता का पैसा लगाया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि सुधार प्रक्रिया में समस्याएं आना स्वाभाविक है और कर्मचारियों को धैर्य रखना चाहिये। एयर इंडिया को कल दिल्ली और मुंबई से १६ उड़ानें रद्द करनी पड़ीं। वरिष्ठ पायलटों ने गतिरोध समाप्त करने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री के हस्तक्षेप की मांग की है।----

सीबीआई, झारखंड के राज्यसभा चुनाव में कथित खरीद-फरोख्त की जांच छह महीने के भीतर पूरी कर लेगी। निर्वाचन आयोग ने राज्यसभा की दो सीटों के लिए ३० मार्च का चुनाव, रांची के निकट एक वाहन से दो करोड़ रुपये की नकदी मिलने के बाद रद्द कर दिया था। रांची में पत्रकारों से बातचीत में सीबीआई के निदेशक ए पी सिंह ने कहा कि झारखंड उच्च न्यायालय के आदेश के बाद इसकी जांच की जा रही है। सीबीआई डायरेक्टर का रांची आना झारखंड के कुछ भ्रष्टाचार मामलों के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है, जिसकी जांच सीबीआई कर रही है। रांची जेल में बंद पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री मधुकोड़ा के निकट सहयोगी संजय चौधरी को दुबई से प्रत्यार्पण कराने के लिए सीबीआई की एक टीम शीघ्र वहां जाएगी। इस घोषणा से वैसे भ्रष्ट लोगों का मनोबल कमजोर होगा जो यह सोचते रहे हैं कि विश्व के कुछ सुरक्षित स्थान उन्हें भारत की न्यायतंत्र की कार्रवाई से बचाय रख सकते हैं। साथ ही चारा घोटाले पर सीबीआई की डायरेक्ट की समीक्षा भी महत्वपूर्ण है, क्योंकि इस कांड में शामिल वीआईपी लोगों का ट्रायल अब शीघ्र खत्म होने वाला है। राजेश सिन्हा, आकाशवाणी समाचार, रांची।

यमन में पायलट रहित अमरीकी ड्रोन हमलो का सिलसिला वहां जमे हुए अलकायदा के आतंकवादियों को खदेड़ने की मुहिम का हिस्सा है। इसके तहत पहला हमला राजधानी साना के दक्षिण-पूर्व में मारिब और शब्वा जिलों की सीमा पर हुआ, जिसमें छह आतंकी मारे गए। दूसरे ड्रोन हमले में अलकायदा के पांच आतंकी मारे गए। उधर देश के दक्षिणी जिले जिंजीबार को आतंकवादियों के कब्जे से छुड़ाने की कोशिश के तहत यमन की सेना ने तीनों तरफ से हमला बोल दिया है। रक्षामंत्री मोहम्मद नसिर अहमद की देखरेख में चल रहे इस अभियान में बारह लोग मारे गए हैं। जिनमें छह अलकायदा के आतंकवादी हैं। अतुल तिवारी आकाशवाणी समाचार।----
यूरोपीय देशों के सात राजदूत, नगालैंड में निवेश अवसरों का पता लगाने के लिए आज नगालैंड की राजधानी कोहिमा पहुंच रहे हैं। बुल्गारिया, चेक गणराज्य, फिनलैंड, हंगरी, जर्मनी, पोलैंड, स्लोवाकिया के राजदूत और यूरोपीय संघ के सदस्य तीन दिन की यात्रा पर एक साथ नगालैंड पहुंच रहे है। ये राजदूत व्यापारिक संघों और उद्यमियों से मिलने के अलावा राज्यपाल और मुख्यमंत्री से भी मुलाकात करेंगे।----
मालदीव के राष्ट्रपति डॉ. मोहम्मद वाहिद ने कल नई दिल्ली में प्रधानमंत्री डाक्टर मनमोहन सिंह से मुलाकात की। समझा जाता है कि मालदीव की मौजूदा स्थिति पर चर्चा की गई। वे डॉ सिंह के निमंत्रण पर पांच दिन की भारत की यात्रा पर हैं। डॉ वाहिद ने फरवरी २०१२ को अपने देश के राष्ट्रपति का पदभार संभाला था। उनका भारत यात्रा के दौरान मुम्बई जाने का भी कार्यक्रम है।----

इस्लामाबाद उच्च न्यायालय ने कहा है कि पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री यूसुफ रज+ा गिलानी को उनके दायित्वों के निर्वाह से रोका नहीं जा सकता क्योंकि उच्चतम न्यायालय ने उन्हें अयोग्य घोषित नहीं किया है। उच्च न्यायालय के न्यायमूर्ति शौक़त अजीज सिद्दिकी ने कहा कि उच्चतम न्यायालय के निर्देश की अवमानना का दोषी होने के न्यायालय के फैसले में श्री गिलानी की अयोग्यता का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। स्विटजरलैंड में राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली ज+रदारी के खिलाफ धोखाधड़ी के मामलों को दोबारा न उठाने के सिलसिले में उच्चतम न्यायालय ने श्री गिलानी को अदालती अवमानना का दोषी करार दिया था।-----

केन्द्र पंजाब के छह सीमावर्ती जिलों अमृतसर, गुरदासपुर, फिरोजपुर, फाजिल्का, तरनतारन और पठानकोट की सड़कों को बेहतर बनाने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री ग्राम सड़क योजना के तहत अलग से धन उपलब्ध कराएगा। कल चण्डीगढ़ में इसकी घोषणा करते हुए ग्रामीण विकास मंत्री जयराम रमेश ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री ग्राम सड़क योजना के तहत राज्य के सोलह जिलों में एक हजार, नौ सौ पचास किलोमीटर लंबी सड़कों को सुदृढ़ किया जाएगा।----
भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड-बीसीसीआई ने अक्तूबर में भारत में होने वाली चैम्पियन्स लीग टी-२० प्रतियोगिता में पाकिस्तान की टीम को खेलने की अनुमति दे दी है। बीसीसीआई के अध्यक्ष एन श्रीनिवासन ने पत्रकारों को बताया कि इस आशय का फैसला बोर्ड की कार्यसमिति की बैठक में किया गया।कार्य समिति ने अक्तूबर में होने वाली चैम्पिन्स लीग टी-२० प्रतियोगिता में खेलने के लिए पाकिस्तान से टीम को बुलाया है। हम चैम्पियंस लीग टी-२० शासी परिषद् को सिफारिश करेंगे कि बीसीसीआई को कोई आपत्ति नहीं है और यह प्रतियोगिता के लिए पाकिस्तान से टीम को आमंत्रित करने के लिए तैयार है। पाकिस्तान की कोई टीम २६/११ के मुम्बई आतंकी हमलों के बाद पहली बार भारत में खेलेगी।

The Ruling BJP in Karnataka has plunged into a fresh crisis after eight ministers close to former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa handed over their letters of resignation to him last night. It followed day-long consultations held by Yeddyurappa at his residence with his loyalist ministers and MLAs. Yeddyurappa told them at the meeting that in the event of their resignation, he would also quit his assembly membership and a decision would be taken on the issue by tomorrow. The letters of resignation are addressed to the Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda.
A Minister, closely associated with the dissidents headed by Yeddyurappa said that atleast 15 MLAs have also submitted their resignation letters addressed to the Assembly speaker K G Bopaiah.
The move came a day after the Supreme Court ordered a probe by the CBI against Yeddyurappa for nepotism, illegal land acquisition and favouring top mining companies. The Supreme Court had asked the CBI to file its report by 3rd August.

The government has asserted that the striking Air India pilots should first report for duty and then come for talks. Taking a tough stand, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said the government is ready to talk on anything after the strike is called off.
"We are still ready to talk. The High Court said that the strike is illegal. Pilots should call off their strike keeping passengers in their mind. Whatever the problems they have, we are ready to discuss."
Mr Singh reminded the pilots that Air India is running into losses and public money is being pumped in to revive the national carrier.
The minister said the process of revival is bound to see many problems and asked the airline employees to be patient. He said, pilots should firmly state their views but not inconvenience the passengers and make Air India lose credibility.
Air India cancelled 16 flights from Delhi and Mumbai yesterday even as senior pilots sought the Prime Minister's intervention to end the impasse.

Maldivian President Dr. Mohammed Waheed met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh yesterday in New Delhi. Dr. Waheed, who is in the country on a five-day official visit at the invitation of the Indian Prime Minister, reportedly discussed the present situation in Maldives with him.
This is the Maldivian President's first meetings with the Indian government after an extraordinary turn of events put him at the helm of affairs in the island nation.
Dr. Waheed, who assumed the office of the President of the Republic of Maldives in February, is also scheduled to visit Mumbai during his visit.

CBI will complete its investigation of alleged horse -trading into Rajya Sabha election from Jharkhand within six months. The 30th March election for two seats of Rajya Sabha was cancelled by the Election Commission after more than two crores rupees cash was recovered from a vehicle on that day near Ranchi. Talking to mediapersons in Ranchi, CBI Director A P Singh said a CBI team will soon visit Dubai to seek extradition of Sanjay Chaudhari. More from our correspondent:

Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda, who suffered multiple injuries in a helicopter crash has been shifted to the ward from the Intensive Care Unit following an improvement in his condition. Seven ambassadors from European nations are arriving in Kohima today on a three-day visit to Nagaland to explore investment opportunities in the state. India has assured Norway that foreign investments will be protected. Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal told the Norwegian Trade and Industry Minister, Trond Giske, that New Delhi will make sure that not just Telenor, but all foreign investors have a robust roadmap ahead. Giske is the representative of Norwegian government on the board of Telenor, which holds 67.25 per cent stake in the telecom operator, Uninor. The balance is held by Unitech. Uninor's 22 licences were among the 122 licences cancelled by the Supreme Court on February 2, issued during the tenure of the then telecom minister A Raja. Uninor has permit to operate till September 7.

In Yemen, 11 Al Qaeda militants were killed in two suspected US drone strikes while the security forces have launched a major offensive to flush out Al Qaeda militants from Zanzibar. More from our West Asia Correspondent.
"US drone attacks have increased in Yemen as a part of the operations to weed out the deeply entrenched Al Qaeda militants in the country. The first attack took place near the border of Marib and Shabwa provinces southeast of the capital, Sanaa in which six militants were killed. The second strike hit two cars in Marib, killing five Al-Qaeda-linked fighters. Meanwhile, the security forces launched an all-out offensive from three sides on Saturday to retake the southern city of Zinjibar, held for a year by Al Qaeda fighters. Islamabad High Court has observed that Pakistan Premier Yousuf Raza Gilani cannot be stopped from performing his duties as the Supreme Court did not disqualify him. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the High Court said there is no mention of Gilani's disqualification in the Supreme Court's detailed judgement when it convicted him for contempt of court for failing to reopen graft cases in Switzerland against President Asif Ali Zardari. The Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI has given its nod to allow a team from Pakistan to play in Champions League-T20 Championship to be held in India in October. BCCI President N Srinivasan told reporters in Chennai that a decision to this effect was taken at the Working Committee Meeting of the Board.
"The working committee decided to invite a team from Pakistan to play in the Champions League - CLT20 which will be held in October. So we will recommend to the CLT20 Governing Council that BCCI has no objection and it is prepared to invite a team from Pakistan for that event."

संसद की हीरक जयंती पर राज्यसभा में चर्चा की शुरूआत करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह ने सदन की कार्यवाही में बार-बार पैदा की जा रही बाधाओं और चर्चा के प्रति सदस्यों की उदासीनता पर चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए सदस्यों से सदन की गरिमा और मर्यादा बनाए रखने की अपील की। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्यसभा में हुई चर्चाओं ने संसदीय लोकतंत्र को सुदृढ़ किया है और हमारे संघीय ढांचे को मजबूती प्रदान की है। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्यसभा इस विशाल देश के हर क्षेत्र के लिए अपनी बात रखने का सर्वोच्च मंच है।राज्यसभा एक ऐसी संस्था है जिसमें हुई चर्चाओं ने संसदीय लोकतंत्र को सुदृढ किया है और हमारे संघीय ढांचे को मजबूती प्रदान की है।

जो भी पायलट्स की समस्या है, उनको बातचीत करनी चाहिए थी। हम आज भी बातचीत के लिए तैयार हैं। लेकिन उन्होंने इस बीच में जो कदम उठाया है, जो हाईकोर्ट का जजमेंट आया है। यह इलिगल स्ट्राइक है। पैसेंजर का ध्यान रखते हुए पायलट्स को स्ट्राइक वापिस ले लेनी चाहिए, जो उनकी समस्याएं थीं, हम उन पे हर समस्या पर बात करने के लिए तैयार हैं।
श्री सिंह कहा कि पायलटों को याद रखना चाहिए कि एयर इंडिया घाटे में चल रही .है और उसे इस स्थिति से उबारने के लिए जनता का पैसा इसमें लगाया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि कंपनी की वित्तीय स्थिति सुधारने की प्रक्रिया में निश्चित रूप से कई समस्यायें आएंगी इसलिए कर्मचारियों को धैर्य से काम लेना होगा। नागर विमानन मंत्री ने कहा कि पायलटों को अपनी राय मजबूती से रखनी चाहिए, लेकिन इस बात का ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि यात्रियों को असुविधा न हो और एयर इंडिया की विश्वसनीयता पर भी विपरीत असर न पड़े।
पायलटों की हड़ताल के आज छठे दिन १४ अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय उड़ानें रद्द कर दी गई हैं। एयरलाइन्स प्रबन्धन ने अब तक ७१ पायलटों को निलम्बित कर दिया है और नागर विमानन महानिदेशालय से इंडियन पायलट्स गिल्ड के ११ पदाधिकारियों के फ्लाइंग लाइसेंस रद्द करने को कहा है। निदेशालय ने कल इन पायलटों को कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी किये थे।
इस बीच एयरइंडिया प्रबन्धन ने यात्रियों को असुविधा से बचाने के लिए आपात योजना के तहत अपनी कुछ अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय उड़ानों के कार्यक्रम में बदलाव किया है। एयरइंडिया के दो सौ से अधिक पायलट मंगलवार से हड़ताल पर हैं। इस कारण अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय उड़ानें बुरी तरह प्रभावित हुई हैं। कम्पनी ने मंगलवार तक अपनी अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय उडानों की बुकिंग बंद कर दी है।

सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने देश में एमबीबीएस और बीडीएस पाठ्यक्रमों में दाखिले के लिए नये दिशा-निर्देश दिये हैं। न्यायमूर्ति ए. के. पटनायक और स्वतंत्र कुमार की पीठ ने कहा कि हर वर्ष १५ जुलाई के बाद, उस शैक्षिक वर्ष के लिए सरकार मेडिकल या डेंटल काउंसिल प्रवेश के बारे में किसी प्रकार की मंजूरी अथवा मान्यता नहीं देगी। पीठ ने कहा कि इसका उल्लंघन होने पर, अदालत की अवमानना का मामला बनेगा और दोषियों के खिलाफ विभागीय कार्रवाई की जायेगी। सुप्रीम कोर्ट की पीठ ने जगदलपुर के सरकारी एनएमडीसी मेडिकल कॉलेज में २००६-०७ सत्र में, कई मेधावी छात्रों और समय-सीमा की अनदेखी कर दो लड़कियों को प्रवेश देने के सिलसिले में छह अधिकारियों के खिलाफ अवमानना की कार्रवाई शुरू की है। यह देखते हुए कि दोनों छात्राएं एमबीबीएस के अंतिम वर्ष में हैं, पीठ ने उनके दाखिले को गैर-कानूनी मानने के बावजूद, दोनों पर पांच-पांच लाख रूपये का जुर्माना लगाया। सुप्रीम कोर्ट के अनुसार, मेडिकल या डेंटल कॉलेजों में दाखिला केवल ऐसी प्रवेश परीक्षाओं के जरिए दिया जाएगा जिनका आयोजन सरकार अथवा निजी कॉलेजों के संगठन द्वारा किया गया हो।---
भारत का हस्तशिल्प निर्यात इस वर्ष अप्रैल में ११ प्रतिशत बढ़कर २२ करोड़ ७० लाख डॉलर हो गया। चीन, लैटिन अमरीका और पश्चिम एशिया से बढ़ती मांग के कारण ऐसा संभव हो पाया है। हस्तशिल्प निर्यात संवर्धन परिषद के अनुसार पिछले वर्ष अप्रैल में २० करोड़ ४० लाख डॉलर का निर्यात हुआ था। परिषद के कार्यकारी निदेशक राकेश कुमार का कहना है कि अमरीकी और यूरोपीय बाजारों में मांग अभी भी कम है क्योंकि ये देश आर्थिक संकट से जूझ रहे हैं। देश का ६० प्रतिशत से अधिक हस्तशिल्प निर्यात अमरीका और यूरोप को ही होता है। अप्रैल में लकड़ी से बने सामान के निर्यात में ५० प्रतिशत का, गैर-कीमती धातुओं से बने आभूषणों में ३९ प्रतिशत का, शॉल में ३१ फीसदी का और विविध मदों के निर्यात में १२ प्रतिशत का इजाफा हुआ। मुरादाबाद, जयपुर, सहारनपुर, जोधपुर और नरसापुर हस्तशिल्प के प्रमुख केन्द्र हैं। इन स्थानों पर हस्तशिल्प कारोबार में दस लाख से भी ज्यादा लोग लगे हैं।---
राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग ने छोटे-मोटे अपराधों के मुकदमों के लिए रात्रि न्यायालयों का सुझाव दिया है। आयोग के अध्यक्ष के० जी० बालाकृष्णन ने नई दिल्ली में एक समारोह में कहा कि कैदियों की संख्या कम करने के लिए कई उपाय किये जा सकते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि एक उपाय यह हो सकता है कि पुलिस पक्की जानकारी के बिना किसी को गिरफ्तार न करे और गरीबों को कानूनी सहायता उपलब्ध कराई जाये। छोटे-मोटे मामलों के निपटारे के लिए जेलों में ही अदालत लगाकर मामलों का निपटारा किया जा सकता है।---
सिक्किम सरकार ने बड़ी इलायची की खेती आधुनिक तकनीक से करने का फैसला किया है। इसका उद्देश्य राज्य में बड़ी इलायची के उत्पादन में आई गिरावट पर काबू पाना है। देश में बड़ी इलायची का सबसे ज्यादा उत्पादन सिक्किम में ही होता है। अब राज्य के उत्तरी, दक्षिणी और पश्चिमी जिलों के कुछ हिस्सों में इसकी खेती के लिए आधुनिक तकनीक अपनाई जाएगी। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि इस तकनीक की सिफारिश भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद और मसाला बोर्ड ने की है।---
एक अध्ययन से पता चला है कि सिक्किम में बड़ी इलायची उगाने वाले ज्यादातर किसान परंपरागत तरीके से खेती कर रहे हैं। जिसमें न तो खाद डाली जाती है और न ही खर पतवार साफ की जाती है। राज्य के बागवानी विभाग ने अब आधुनिक तकनीक अपनाने का फैसला किया है जिसमें खर पतवार साफ करने पर ज्यादा ध्यान देने के साथ ही जाडे के दौरान लंबे और खुश्क मौसम में सिंचाई की माकूल व्यवस्था पर जोर दिया जायेगा। दूसरी ओर उत्तर-पूर्वी क्षेत्रीय कृषि विपणन निगम नेरामेक निलामी के जरिये सिक्किम के किसानों को बड़ी इलायची के लाभकारी मूल्य दिलाने में काफी हद तक सफल रहा है। सोलह नवम्बर २०१० को राज्य में इसकी निलामी की शुरूआत होने के बाद से पूरे जिले के रेंगपो में अब तक हुई १४ निलामियों में करीब १८ टन बड़ी इलायची निलाम हो चुकी है। नेरामेक के रेंगपो में यह निलामी केंद्र खोलने की भी योजना है। करीब दो करोड़ रूपये की लागत से खुलने वाले इस केंद्र से सिक्किम के बड़ी इलायची उत्पादकों को विश्वस्तरीय ऑनलाइन बाजार हासिल हो सकेगा। विनयराज तिवारी आकाशवाणी समाचार गंगटोक।मालदीव के राष्ट्रपति डॉ. मोहम्मद वाहिद ने आज नई दिल्ली में महात्मा गांधी की समाधि-राजघाट जाकर फूल चढ़ाए। डॉ. वाहिद ने कल प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह से मुलाकात की थी। उन्होंने डॉ. सिंह से मालदीव की ताजा स्थिति पर चर्चा की।

अफगानिस्तान की हाई पीस काउंसिल यानी उच्च स्तरीय षांति परिषद के एक सबसे वरिष्ठ सदस्य की अज्ञात बंदूकधारी ने आज सुबह काबुल में चलती कार से गोली मार कर हत्या कर दी। पुलिस के अनुसार मौलवी अरसला रहमानी राजधानी के भारी सुरक्षा वाले इलाके में स्थित मीडिया सेंटर में सरकारी अधिकारियों के साथ एक बैठक में भाग लेने जा रहे थे। हमलावर ने उस वक्त उनपर गोली चलायी जब उनकी कार ट्रेफिक में फंसी हुई थी। मौलवी अरसला रहमानी विद्रोहियों के साथ षांति वार्ता के लिए राष्ट्रपति हामिद करज+ई द्वारा दो साल पहले गठित हाई पीस काउंसिल के वरिष्ठतम सदस्यों में से एक थे। पीस काउंसिल के पहले अध्यक्ष पूर्व राष्ट्रपति बुरहानुद्दीन रब्बानी की पिछले साल अपने आप को तालिबान का दूत कहने वाले एक आत्मघाती हमलावर ने काबुल में हत्या कर दी थी। इसके बाद उनके बेटे सलाहुद्दीन रब्बानी को पिछले ही महीने पीस काउंसिल का अध्यक्ष बनाया गया था।---
ईरान के परमाणु कार्यक्रम के निरीक्षण के तौर-तरीकों को लेकर ईरान के प्रतिनिधियों और संयुक्त राष्ट्र परमाणु निगरानी संस्था-आई. ए. ई.ए. के बीच वियना में कल बातचीत होगी। ईरान और विश्व के छह प्रमुख देशों के बीच २३ मई को होने वाली अगले दौर की वार्ता से पहले होने वाली यह बातचीत काफी महत्वपूर्ण मानी जा रही है। ब्यौरा हमारे पश्चिम एशिया संवाददाता से-अंतर्राष्ट्रीय परमाणु उर्जा आयोग से दूसरे देश की बातचीत के पहले ईरान के राजदूत असगर सुलतानी ने कहा है कि आयोग के साथ बातचीत शुरू करना ही ईरान के सहयोग को दर्शाता है। उधर एजेंसी की टीम ईरान के परमाणु कार्यक्रम की पडताल के दायरे को तकनीकी रूप से व्यापक बनाकर यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहेगी कि कहीं परमाणु हथियारों के निर्माण का काम तो नहीं चल रहा। फरवरी में पिछले दौर की बातचीत में आईएईए ने माना था कि ईरान के परमाणु कार्यक्रम के सैनिक उद्देश्यों को लेकर उसका मतभेद है। एजेंसी के प्रमुख परमाणु निरीक्षक हरमन नेकार्टस की टीम को तेहरान के पास पारचिन संयंत्र सजाने की इजाजत नहीं मिली थी। आईएईए ने नवम्बर में जारी अपनी रिपोर्ट में कहा था कि पारचिन में परमाणु विस्फोट कार्यक्रम की तैयारी के पुख्ता सबूत मिलते दिख रहे हैं। विवाद के इन मुद्दों के अलावा यह बैठक और भी अहम इसलिए है कि इस बातचीत का असर २३ मई को बगदाद में ईरान और छह देशों की बातचीत पर पड सकता है। अतुल तिवारी, आकाशवाणी समाचार।

The Special Session of the Lok Sabha to mark its 60th anniversary today began with the playing of the National Anthem. Greeting the citizens of the country, Speaker Meira Kumar said, Parliament reflects the sovereign will of all Indians. It is also the highest protector of their fundamental rights. The 60 years' journey of Parliament has been successful because of them.
The people alone are its guiding force. Meira Kumar said Parliament has empowered everyone in India transcending all barriers. The right to vote has made everyone equal in the country. The Speaker said India's diversity is our main strength. She said democracy has no room for the caste system. We will have to eliminate it.
The Leader of the House and Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said May 13, 1952 was the milestone in India's journey of democracy. He said Parliament has acted as a shock absorber all these years. It has given way to consensus in place of confrontation. Mr. Mukherjee said, Parliamentarians should indulge in constructive debate and not in disruptions.
Find out a mechanism through which disruption should not needed debate, discussion, dissention are always welcome by but try to avoid disruption.
Senior BJP Leader L.K. Advani said the greatest achievement of India in the last sixty years has been the strengthening of the values of democracy. The President Mrs Pratibha Devi Singh Patil will address the members of both the Houses in the Central Hall of Parliament at 5.30 PM. The President will also release 5-rupee and 10-rupee coins besides releasing publications of the Secretariats of both the Houses. Mr Rishang Keishing, who was a member of the first and the third Lok Sabha and Mr Resham Lal Jangde, a member of the first, second and ninth Lok Sabhas, will be felicitated on the occasion.

The government has asserted that the striking Air India pilots should first report for duty and then come for talks. Talking a tough stand, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said the government is ready to talk on anything after the strike is called off.
"We are still ready to talk. The High Court said that the strike is illegal. Pilots should call off their strike keeping passengers in their mind. Whatever the problems they have, we are ready to discuss."
Mr Singh reminded the pilots that Air India is running into losses and public money is being pumped in to revive the national carrier. The Civil Aviation Minister said the process of revival is bound to see many problems and asked the airline employees to be patient. He said, pilots should firmly say their views but not inconvenience the passengers and make Air India lose credibility.
Today is the sixth day of the pilot stir. An Air india spokesman told our correspondent that 14 International flights have been cancelled. The airline management has sacked 71 pilots so far and has also asked the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, DGCA for the cancellation of the flying licenses of 11 office- bearers of the Indian Pilots' Guild (IPG), which is spearheading the agitation.
The DGCA had yesterday issued show-cause notices to these 11 pilots of the IPG . Meanwhile, Air India management, in its contingency plan has merged some Air India international flights to avoid the inconvenience of the passengers. The spokesman said some routes are also being diverted. Over 200 pilots owing allegiance to the IPG are on strike since Tuesday, badly disrupting the international operations of the national carrier. he airline has also suspended its bookings for international flights till the 15th of this month.

The Supreme Court has framed a series of guidelines for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the country. The bench of justices A K Patnaik and Swatanter Kumar said, after July 15 each year, neither the government nor the medical or dental councils shall issue any recognition or approval for that academic year.
The judges said, violation of the orders would invite both contempt proceedings and initiation of departmental action against the violating authorities. The bench initiated contempt proceedings against six officials in connection with the admission granted to two girls in the MBBS course for the academic year 2006-07 in the Government NMDC Medical College, Jagdalpur after overlooking the claims of several other meritorious students and the time schedule.
However, considering the fact that the two girls are in their final year of MBBS study, the bench though holding their admissions illegal, imposed a cost of five lakh rupees on each of them which it said shall be used for development of Jagdalpur college.
According to the apex court, admission to the medical or dental colleges shall be granted only through the respective entrance tests conducted by the competitive authority in the state or the body of the private colleges.

The Sikkim government has decided to introduce model farming techniques to augment the production of Large Cardamom in the state. Sikkim is the largest producer of large cardamon in the country, but the state has witnessed falling yield of this commercial crop in the recent past.
Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Spices Board have also recommended model practices to give a fillip to the large cardamon production. The model farming techniques will be introduced in some parts of North, South and West districts of Sikkim. Our correspondent has filed this report:

On the other hand,the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation ’NERAMAC’ has succeeded, to a large extent, in ensuring remunerative price by way of auction to the Sikkim farmers for large cardamom. Some eighteen matric tones of large cardamom has been auctioned at fourteen state level auctions held at Rangpo in East district, ever since ’NERAMAC’ initiated the auction of the large cardamom in Sikkim on 16th November in 2010. The Maldivian President Dr. Mohammed Waheed today paid floral tribute at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi. Dr. Waheed, who is in the country on a five-day official visit to India, met the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh yesterday in New Delhi. He reportedly discussed the present situation in Maldives with him.
This is the Maldivian President's first visit to India after an extraordinary turn of events put him at the helm of affairs in the island nation. Dr. Waheed, who assumed the office of the President of the Republic of Maldives in February 2012, is also scheduled to visit Mumbai during his visit.

A senior member of Afghanistan's High Peace Council was shot dead by an unidentified gunman from a passing car in Kabul this morning. Police sources said, Maulvi Arsala Rahmani was stuck in heavy traffic when an attacker in another car opened fire on him. He was on his way to a meeting with senior government officials at the government media centre in the high security area of Kabul.
Maulvi Arsala Rahmani was one of the senior most members on Afghanistan's High Peace Council which was set up by President Hamid Karzai two years ago to broker peace talks with insurgents. Former Afghan President Burhannudin Rabbani was the first Chairman of the Council who was killed by a suicide attacker posing as a Taliban peace emissary last year. President Rabbani’s son Salahuddin Rabbani was appointed the Chairman of the High Peace Council last month.

Iranian representatives will hold talks with the UN Nuclear watchdog, IAEA in Vienna tomorrow and the day after over the modalities of inspection of Iran’s nuclear program. The close door talks assume significance in the wake of next round of talks between Iran and six major world powers in Baghdad on May 23rd over the possible military dimensions of Teheran’s nuclear program. Ahead of the talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency , Iran’s envoy to IAEA Asghar Soltaniyeh sounded optimism saying the resumption of talks shows Teheran’s co-operation with the agency. After the last round of talks in February, IAEA had reported that major differences exist with Teheran over the military dimensions of its nuclear program. The 5th special meeting of SAARC Food Bank Board began in Dhaka today to discuss issues related to effective functioning of the food Bank. The daylong meeting being attended by representatives of SAARC member Countries was inaugurated by Bangladesh's Minister for Food and Disaster Management Dr Abdur Razzaque.

The special meeting of the SAARC FOOD Bank board is being held following the directives of the heads of states of the member countries in the ADDU Declaration of the 17th SAARC summit to resolve the operational issues related to the SAARC Food Bank by the next Session of the Council of Ministers which is scheduled to be held in June. The SAARC food bank was established with contributions from member states following the agreement signed in 2007 with a reserve of 2,43,00 tonnes which was later doubled to 4, 86,000 metric tonnes. India’s contribution to the reserves is 3,06,400 MTs out of the total reserve of 4,86,000 MTs. However members have so far not been able to draw grains from the food bank due to the high threshold level of 8 percent shortfall in production for access to grains from the bank. THIS IS C. भारत के संविधान द्वारा स्थापित संस्थाओं के मान-सम्मान को सुरक्षित रखते हुए लोकतंत्र के माध्यम से शांति, विकास और प्रगति के मार्ग पर अग्रसर रखने के प्रति वचनवद्ध है। संसद के केन्द्रीय कक्ष में आज शाम संसद की हीरक जयंती के अवसर पर आयोजित समारोह को संबोधित करते हुए राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवी सिंह पाटील ने कहा कि विश्व के सबसे बड़े लोकतंत्र भारत को गर्व है कि उसने न केवल आजादी हासिल की बल्कि एक नये संविधान की रचना भी की और उस समय से अब तक लोकतंत्र के मार्ग पर लगातार अग्रसर है। इस बारे में उसने सभी संदेहों को गलत सावित कर दिया। हालांकि उनका यह भी कहना था कि अब भी भारत को एक सशक्त और स्वस्थ लोकतंत्र की ओर अग्रसर रहने जैसी बड़ी चुनौती का सामना है। श्रीमती पाटील ने कहा कि संसद लोगों की आस्थाओं और आकांक्षाओं का केन्द्र बिन्दु है।संसद पर लोगों की इच्छाएं और आकांक्षाएं टिकी हैं, इसलिए यहां पर लोगों की आशाओं और उम्मीदों के मुताबिक नीतिगत फैसले लेने और आवश्यक कानून बनने चाहिए। बहस कठिन हो सकती है सबके मत अलग-अलग हो सकते हैं लेकिन संसद में बातचीत से ही समाधान होना चाहिए।
श्रीमती पाटील ने कहा कि लोकतंत्र तभी जीवित रह सकता है और प्रगति कर सकता है जब उस पर विश्वास रखने वालों का सम्मान बना रहे और जिसमें विभिन्न विचारों का ख्याल रखा जाए।
इस अवसर पर उप-राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी ने कहा कि विभिन्न स्वार्थों और विचारों के बीच तालमेल बनाए रखने में संसद काफी हद तक सफल रही है।

संसद ने आज एक प्रस्ताव पास करके संसद की गरिमा, शुचिता और संप्रभुता को कायम रखने और इसे परिवर्तन का कारगर साधन बनाने तथा लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों और सिद्धांतों को मजबूत बनाने का संकल्प व्यक्त किया।लोकसभा और राज्यसभा दोनों सदनों के सदस्यों ने संसद की निगरानी के जरिये लोगों के प्रति सरकार की जवाबदेही को बढ़ावा देने और राष्ट्र निर्माण के पवित्र कार्य में फिर से अपने को समर्पित करने का भी संकल्प व्यक्त किया।
संसद की पहली बैठक की ६०वीं वर्षगांठ के उपलक्ष्य में दिनभर की चर्चा के बाद लोकसभा अध्यक्ष मीरा कुमार और राज्यसभा के सभापति मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी द्वारा पेश किये गये प्रस्ताव को सदस्यों ने सर्वसम्मति से स्वीकृति दी।
दोनों सदनों ने आजादी के लिए किये गये संघर्ष में र्स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों के बलिदानों को याद किया और संविधान के संस्थापक सदस्यों द्वारा संविधान में समानता, बंधुत्व , न्याय, भाईचारा तथा समाज के पिछड़े वर्गों और दलितों के उत्थान जैसे पहलुओं को अनिवार्य बनाने के लिए निभाई गयी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका की भी संसद के दोनों सदनों ने प्रशंसा की।
संसद सदस्यों ने भारत की जनता की परिपक्वता पर संतोष और गर्व व्यक्त किया, जिन्होंने लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों को मजबूत बनाया है और देश की एकता और अखंडता के लिए निरंतर काम किया है।
लोकसभा में दिनभर की चर्चा का समापन करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि सदन की कार्यवाही में बार बार की बाधा के चलते संसद की कार्यकुशलता पर प्रश्न उठने लगे हैं। उन्होंने इस बारे में ईमानदारी से आत्म चिंतन करने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा कि यदि राजनीतिक दल संसद की प्रतिष्ठा को बहाल करने का मिलकर संकल्प नहीं लेते हैं तो लोगों में इसके प्रति अविश्वास बढ़ जायेगा।
प्रधानमंत्री ने इस बात पर खेद व्यक्त किया कि सदन की कार्यवाही में हर रोज की बाधाएं, स्थगन और नारेबाजी को देखते हुए सदन के बाहर इसकी कार्यकुशलता और सार्वजनिक कार्यों के प्रति इसकी निष्ठा के बारे में सवाल उठाये जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि सांसदों के व्यवहार से, विशेष रूप से पिछले कुछ वर्षों में प्रदर्शित उनके व्यवहार से, लोगों में निराशा और भ्रम की भावना पैदा हुई है।
अक्सर लोगों में संसद की कार्यवाही में बाधाओं से निराशा पैदा होती हैं, जिसके लिए हम सबको जिम्मेदारी लेनी होगी। हालांकि, मुझे गर्व है कि कई बार संसद के दोनों सदनों में आधी रात तक देश और दुनिया के कुछ महत्वपूर्ण मुद्दों पर बहस और बातचीत हुई है।
इससे पहले देश के लोगों का अभिनंदन करते हुए लोकसभा अध्यक्ष मीरा कुमार ने कहा कि संसद सभी भारतवासियों की सार्वभौम इच्छा को परिलक्षित करती है। यह उनके मूलभूत अधिकारों की सर्वोच्च रक्षक भी है। संसद की साठ वर्षों की यात्रा उनके कारण ही सफल रही है।
लोकसभा में चर्चा में भाग लेते हुए कांगे्रस अध्यक्ष श्रीमती सोनिया गांधी ने कहा कि जहां एक ओर हर कीमत पर देश की एकता और आजादी की रक्षा जरूरी है, वहीं इसे न केवल कानून और शक्ति का, बल्कि न्याय और करूणा का भी स्रोत होना चाहिए।
सदन के नेता और वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने कहा कि १३ मई १९५२ का दिन भारत की लोकतंत्र की यात्रा में मील का पत्थर है। उन्होंने कहा कि संसद ने इन सभी वर्षों में सभी प्रकार के दबावों और संकटों को झेला है।
भारतीय जनता पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता लाल कृष्ण आडवाणी ने कहा कि पिछले साठ वर्षों में भारत की सबसे बड़ी उपलब्धि यह रही है कि लोकतंत्र के मूल्य सुदृढ़ हुए हैं।

एअर इंडिया के कार्यकारी पायलटों ने आज प्रबंधन से कहा है कि हड़ताली पायलटों को हटाए जाने का आदेश वापस लिया जाए और छह दिनों के गतिरोध को दूर करने के लिए तुरंत बातचीत की जाए। हड़ताली पायलटों ने कहा कि वे बातचीत के लिए तैयार हैं लेकिन उन्होंने काम पर आने का कोई इरादा जाहिर नहीं किया। इससे सैकड़ो यात्री अपनी छुट्टियों का लाभ नहीं उठा सके। पी टी आई के अनुसार दिल्ली और मुंबई से कम से कम बीस अंतरराष्ट्रीय उड़ानें रद्द की गई।--------
उधर, सरकार ने कहा है कि एयर इंडिया के हड़ताली पायलटों को पहले काम पर लौटना चाहिए और फिर बातचीत करनी चाहिए। नागर विमानन मंत्री अजित सिंह ने कड़ा रूख अपनाते हुए कहा कि सरकार हड़ताल वापस लेने के बाद सभी मुद्दों पर बातचीत करने को तैयार है। उन्होंने कहा कि पायलटों को याद रखना चाहिए कि एयर इंडिया घाटे में चल रही .है और उसे इस स्थिति से उबारने के लिए जनता का पैसा इसमें लगाया जा रहा है।--------
उपग्रह आधारित विमानन व्यवस्था गगन अगले वर्ष जून से भारत में लागू कर दी जाएगी। भारतीय हवाई अड्डा प्राधिकरण के सदस्य श्री वी. सोमसुंदरम ने यह जानकारी दी। आज तिरुचिरापल्ली हवाई अड्डे पर ए टी एस ऑटोमेशन सिस्टम के उद्घाटन के अवसर पर सभा को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि अमरीका, यूरोप और जापान के बाद भारत चौथा देश है जहां विमान यातायात के नियंत्रण के लिए यह व्यवस्था उपलब्ध होगी। स्पेन के इन्द्रास द्वारा विकसित इस नयी व्यवस्था के लागू हो जाने से विमान यातायात के नियंत्रण में मानवीय हस्तक्षेप कम से कम जाएगा। दिल्ली, चेन्नई, कोलकाता और मुंबई जैसे महानगरों के अलावा भारत के अड़तीस अन्य हवाई अड्डों में भी ये व्यवस्था उपलब्ध कराई जाएगी।--------
ईरान के राष्ट्रपति महमूद अहमदीनिजाद ने फिर कहा है कि ईरान को परमाणु कार्यक्रम जारी रखने का पूरा हक़ है। सरकारी टी वी-आई आर आई बी के अनुसार अहमदीनिजाद ने आज खुरासां रज+ावी प्रांत की यात्रा के दौरान यह दृढ़ता व्यक्त की। उन्होंने कहा कि ईरान अपने बुनियादी अधिकारों को कभी छोड़ नहीं सकता। पिछले सप्ताह अहमदीनिजाद ने कहा था कि प्रतिबंध के दबाव में आकर ईरान अपने अधिकार से वंचित नहीं रह सकता। ईरान के परमाणु कार्यक्रम से उत्पन्न गतिरोध के समाधान के लिए ईरान और विश्व की बड़ी शक्तियों की प्रस्तावित बैठक के बीच श्री अहमदीनिजाद ने यह वक्तव्य दिया है।--------
सीरिया में सैनिकों और सशस्त्र विद्रोहियों के बीच संघर्ष में आज चार लोग मारे गए। एक व्यक्ति दमिश्क के बाहर दमीर की निगरानी चौकी पर सैनिकों की गोलीबारी में और दूसरा व्यक्ति दमिश्क के उत्तरी उप-नगर दऊमा में एक हमले में मारा गया। विद्रोहियों का कमांडर अबु आदी रात को हुई झड़पों में मारा गया था जबकि एक अधिकारी, जो सेना को छोड़कर चला गया था, आज सुबह पूर्वी प्रांत दीर एज+ोर में घात लगाने की घटना में मारा गया।खबरों के अनुसार सीरिया की सेना ने आज सवेरे दऊमा में गोलाबारी की। दमिश्क प्रांत के अन्य भागों में भी झड़पें होने की खबर है।

मालदीव के राष्ट्रपति डॉ. मोहम्मद वाहिद ने आज नई दिल्ली में महात्मा गांधी की समाधि-राजघाट जाकर फूल चढ़ाए। डॉ. वाहिद ने कल प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह से मुलाकात की थी। उन्होंने डॉ. सिंह से मालदीव की ताजा स्थिति पर चर्चा की।पिछले वर्ष फरवरी में मालदीव का राष्ट्रपति बनने के बाद यह डॉ. वाहिद की पहली भारत यात्रा है। पांच दिन की इस यात्रा के दौरान वे मुंबई भी जाएंगे।

President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil said that India is committed to move forward on the path of peace, development and progress through democracy while also protecting the sanctity of institutions established by the Constitution. Addressing the commemorative function of the 60th anniversary of Parliament held this evening in the Central Hall, the President said, as the world' largest democracy, India can be proud that since winning freedom and adopting a Constitution, the country has continuously walked the path of democracy, proving its skeptics wrong. She, however, pointed out that the big challenge is to proceed towards being a vibrant and healthy democracy.
Mrs. Patil said, Parliament is the repository of the will of the people. Therefore, people's growing aspirations and expectations need to be translated into policy decisions and necessary legislations. Mrs. Patil said, democracy can survive, flourish and grow when there is respect for all stakeholders and for differing opinions and where institutions of democracy are functioning in harmony, in general.
Whether it is the legislature, th judiciary, the executive or the citizen or the media they have a role to play but with responsibility and they must uphold the constitution as well as the rule of law. Democracy can be sustained when there is a sensitivity to national interest, social objectives and towards each other.
Speaking on the historic occasion, Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari called for a collective resolve to restore the majesty of Parliament.
While much has been achieved, more needs to be done to attain the lofty objectives so succinctly delineated in the Preamble of the Constitution. New imperative propelus we do need to respond meaningfully to awaken expectation of new generation in a changing world.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said, unfortunately the number of serious discussions in Parliament has declined in recent years. He urged for reviving the tradition of reasoned and constructive debate in Parliament on the issues of the day. Dr. Singh said, it is the only way to earn the people's respect, lead public opinion and provide media with serious content that will raise the level of public discourse as in other mature democracies. He said, the Members of Parliament will individually and collectively determine how effectively the Parliament represents the aspirations of the people and guides the destiny of our country.
Our Parliament stands asa unique represtation of the values that created our republic of unity in diversity of secularism of pluralism and of the rule of law. How we conduct ourselves how the parliament conducts itself is therefore, a way of showing respect to those values and to the memory of those who created and build the symbol of freedom and dignity.
The Prime Minister called for firmly rejecting those who would mock the institutions of our democracy that have developed over decades of experiences. Dr. Singh said, though we are not a perfect democracy, we are functioning democracy with mechanisms and safeguards that allow for the reconciliation of diverse interests and differences. The Prime Minister said it is the vitality and vibrancy of our democracy that keeps the nation united and moving on the path of progress.
Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said, the abiding faith of the people of India in parliamentary democracy has enabled us to successfully complete Sixty Years of our journey. She said the rich and poor, men and women of all religious and creed are equal partners in this journey. Mrs. Meira Kumar said it is in the Chambers of this sacred institution that our elected representatives shape and decide the destiny of over 120 crore people.
The four Members of the First Lok Sabha - Rishang Keishing, Reshamlal Jangde, K. Mohana Rao and Kandala Subrahmanyam - were felicitated by President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on the occasion. Coins of denominations of ten rupees and five rupees and publications of the Secretariates of both Houses were released, marking the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Parliament.

Parliament today resolved to uphold and maintain its dignity, sanctity and supremacy to make it an effective instrument of change and strengthen the democratic values and principles. Members of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha also resolved to enhance the accountability of the government towards people through Parliament's oversight and rededicate themselves in the sacred task of nation building.
The resolution, climaxing the day-long debate marking the 60th anniversary of the first sitting of Parliament, moved by Speaker Meira Kumar and Chairman Hamid Ansari, was adopted unanimously by the Members by voice vote. The two Houses recalled the immense sacrifices made by freedom fighters in the nation's struggle for independence and the stellar role played by the founding fathers of the Constitution in mandating equality, fraternity, justice, brotherhood and the upliftment of under-privileged and down-trodden sections of society.
Winding up a day-long discussion in the Lok Sabha marking the 60th year of the first sitting of Parliament, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said the daily routine of disruptions have led to questions on the functioning of Parliament and called for substantive and sincere introspection.
He said public disenchantment is bound to raise if parties fail to collectively resolve to restore the prestige of the institution. Dr Singh expressed regret that the daily routine of disruptions, adjournments and shouting in the House are leading many outside to question the efficacy of the institution and faith in public affairs.
Earlier, Greeting the citizens of the country, Speaker Meira Kumar said, Parliament reflects the sovereign will of all Indians. It is also the highest protector of their fundamental rights.
Participating in a discussion in the Lok Sabha, reflecting on the journey of Parliament, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said, while its integrity and independence must be preserved at all cost, it must not only be a source of law and power but also justice and compassion.
The Leader of the House and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said that May 13, 1952 was the milestone in India's journey of democracy. He said Parliament has acted as a shock absorber all these years. Mr. Mukherjee said, Parliamentarians should indulge in constructive debate and not in disruptions.
Find out a mechanism through which disruption should not needed debate, discussion, dissention are always welcome by but try to avoid disruption.
Senior BJP Leader Sushma Swaraj said the greatest achievement of India in the last sixty years has been the strengthening of the values of democracy.
India keeps her head high in the world because of its democracy. You cannot think of democracy without a Parliament and Parliament without Parliamentarians. Some faults and deformities have also cropped in the system. But It cannot be cured by attacking Parliamentary system.

The executive pilots of Air India today asked the management of the national carrier to revoke sack orders against striking pilots and hold immediate negotiations to end the six-day impasse. The striking pilots while stating that they were ready for talks, showed no signs of returning to work, leaving hundreds of passengers fretting with their holiday schedules going haywire. According to PTI, at least 20 international flights from Delhi and Mumbai, were cancelled.
The airline management has sacked 71 pilots so far and has also asked the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, DGCA for the cancellation of the flying licenses of 11 office-bearers of the Indian Pilots' Guild, IPG, which is spearheading the agitation. The DGCA had yesterday issued show-cause notices to these 11 pilots of the IPG.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has reiterated Iran's resolve to retain its absolute nuclear rights. According to the State IRIB TV, Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying during a visit to the northeastern Khorasan Razavi Province today that Tehran will never give up its fundamental rights.
Meanwhile, Iranian representatives will hold talks with the UN Nuclear watchdog, IAEA in Vienna tomorrow and the day after over the modalities of inspection of Iran’s nuclear program.

In Syria, security forces raided on protest hubs and clashed with armed rebels today, leaving 23 people dead, 16 of them civilians, as a tenuous UN-backed ceasefire entered its second month. Two civilians and five soldiers died in gunfights between regime forces and armed rebels in the southern province of Daraa.
In central Hama province, five people were killed by gunfire, including a woman, when regime forces raided the village of Al-Tamanaa Al-Ghab. A man and his son were killed and 10 other people wounded when they were shot by regime forces in the town of Qusayr in central Homs province, where armed rebel groups have strongholds.
