प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा है कि ब्राजील, रूस, भारत, चीन और दक्षिण अफ्रीका यानी ब्रिक्स देशों के नेता वैश्विक वित्तीय मंदी से उबरने की प्रक्रिया में योगदान कर सकते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि विश्व के विभिन्न भागों में हाल की घटनाओं के कारण अनिश्चितता की स्थिति के बावजूद वे ऐसा कर सकते हैं। चीन और कजाकिस्तान की पांच दिन की यात्रा पर रवाना होते समय डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि ब्रिक्स देशों को आपसी सहयोग बढ़ाने से लाभ होगा। प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि ब्रिक्स देश जी-२० और संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद के सदस्य हैं और इन मंचों पर परस्पर मिलजुल कर काम कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत और चीन के सम्बन्धों का वैश्विक महत्व है और वे चीन के राष्ट्रपति से मुलाकात का इंतजार कर रहे हैं। डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह शिखर सम्मेलन में भाग लेने के अलावा, चीन के राष्ट्रपति हू चिन्ताओ से राजनीतिक मामलों, व्यापार और सुरक्षा पर बातचीत करेंगे। नत्थी वीजा और रक्षा के क्षेत्र में आदान-प्रदान फिर शुरू करने पर भी बातचीत हो सकती है। दुनिया में तेजी से विकास कर रहे ये दोनों देश आपसी व्यापार बढ़ाने पर जोर देंगे। चीन के साथ बढ़ते व्यापार असंतुलन के बारे में भारत की चिन्ताओं के बीच आपसी व्यापार बढ़ाने को प्राथमिकता दी जायेगी। भारत और चीन का व्यापार पिछले वर्ष बढ़कर रिकॉर्ड ६१ अरब, ७० करोड़ डॉलर हो गया था। दोनों देशों ने २०१५ तक एक खरब डॉलर का व्यापार लक्ष्य रखा है। शिखर सम्मेलन में ब्रिक्स देशों के नेता अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय स्थिति, विकास तथा सुरक्षा और भविष्य में सहयोग बढ़ाने जैसे विषयों पर बात करेंगे। चीन के शहर सानया में होने वाले इस शिखर सम्मेलन में लीबिया तथा उत्तर अफ्रीकी क्षेत्र के कुछ अन्य देशों की स्थिति के कारण तेल आपूर्ति में रूकावट और इसकी कीमतों के बारे में भी बातचीत होने की आशा है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि ब्रिक्स समूह मे दक्षिण अफ्रीका की सदस्यता का स्वागत करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा है कि इससे समूह राष्ट्रो के बीच अफ्रीका को लेकर चर्चा हो सकेगी। प्रधानमंत्री डाक्टर मनमोहन िसह ने कहा है कि ब्रिक्स समूह विश्व अर्थव्यवस्था की बेहतरी के लिए बडी भूमिका अदा कर सकते हैं। भारत चीन संबंधो की चर्चा करते हुए डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि दोनों देशो के बीच संबंध अत्यन्त महत्वपूर्ण हैं और इसका स्वरूप वैश्विक हो गया है। उन्होंने कहा कि विश्व शिखर वार्ता के दौरान द्विपक्षीय संबंधों पर उनकी चीन के राष्ट्रपति हू चिनताओ से भी चर्चा होगी। ब्राजील और दक्षिण अफ्रीका से भारत के देशो के द्विपक्षीय संबंधों को उत्साहवर्धक और महत्वपूर्ण बताते हुए डाक्टर ंिसंह ने कहा है कि इन देशों के राष्ट्रपतियों से भी उनकी द्विपक्षीय संबंधों को लेकर चर्चा होगी। कजाकिस्तान की होने जा रही अपनी पहली यात्रा की चर्चा करते हुए डाक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि कजाकिस्तान देश मध्य एशिया में भारत का महत्वपूर्ण सहयोगी रहा है। उन्होंने कहा है कि दोनों देशों के बीच राजनीति और सुरक्षा सहयोग व्यापार और निवेश, ऊर्जा फर्मास्युटिकल, कृषि और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी और क्षमता निर्माण के क्षेत्र में संबंधो की विस्तार की बहुत सारी संभावनाएं हैं। सुनील शुक्त आकाशवाणी समाचार दिल्ली।

प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ने झारखण्ड के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री मधु कोडा और उनके सहयोगियों की कथित रूप से १३० करोड़ रूपये की सम्पत्ति की कुर्की करने की पूरी तैयारी कर ली है। निदेशालय कोडा और उनके सहयोगियों के खिलाफ, बड़े पैमाने पर गैरकानूनी निवेश और हवाला से संबंधित आरोपों की जांच कर रहा है। निदेशालय कोराष्ट्रीय राजधानी दिल्ली में मनी लॉन्डरिंग एक्ट के तहत सम्बद्ध अधिकारी से इस संबंध में मंजूरी का आदेश प्राप्त हो गया है। सूत्रों का कहना है कि निदेशालय को ये पहला आदेश मिला है और कुर्की की और भी कार्रवाइयां हो सकती है, क्योंकि निदेशालय ने जिन सम्पत्तियों का पता लगाया है, उनकी कीमत दो सौ करोड़ रूपये से अधिक है। इनमें से अधिकांश जायदाद मुख्य रूप से झारखण्ड में है और कुछ पास के ही बिहार राज्य में है। जिन सम्पत्तियों की कुर्की होनी है, उनमें बिनोद और विकास सिन्हा जैसे कोडा के सहयोगियों की कथित जायदादें भी शामिल हैं। ये दोनों व्यक्ति न्यायिक हिरासत में हैं। कोडा और उनके सहयोगियों के बारे में विभिन्न एजेंसियां जांच पड़ताल कर रही हैं, जिनमें आयकर विभाग, सीबीआई और झारखण्ड सतर्कता ब्यूरो जैसी जांच एजेंसी शामिल हैं। ये एजेंसियां कथित गैर कानूनी निवेशों के बारे में पता लगा रही हैं।----
तमिलनाडु, केरल और पुद्दुचेरी में नई विधानसभाओं के चुनाव के लिए कल वोट डाले जाएंगे और इस संबंध में मतदान की तैयारियां पूरे जोर शोर से चल रही हैं। तमिलनाडु में मतदान की अंतिम क्षणों की तैयारियां पूरे जोरों पर हैं। मतदान के लिए सभी प्रकार की जरूरतों को पूरा करने के लिए समूची सरकारी व्यवस्था पूरी तरह तैयार है। निर्वाचन आयोग ने जिला क्लेक्टरों को निर्देश दिये हैं कि वे किसी भी निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में अजनबियों की मौजूदगी के बारे में जानकारी दें। आयोग ने वेब कैमरों के जरिये निगरानी सुनिश्चित की है। मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी प्रवीण कुमार ने बताया कि निर्वाचन आयोग स्थिति पर पूरी नजर रखे हुए है और किसी भी समय बिना किसी सूचना के मतदान स्थगन और कोई अन्य कार्रवाई की जा सकती है। तमिलनाडु में १४वीं विधानसभा के चुनाव के लिए साढ़े चार करोड़ मतदाता वोट डाल सकेंगे। कल दो हजार ६१२ पुरूष और १३६ महिला उम्मीदवारों के भाग्य का फैसला होगा। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि निर्वाचन आयोग ने मीडिया और राजनीतिक दलों को आदर्श आचार संहिता का पूरी तरह पालन करने के निर्देश दिए हैं। पिछली बार राज्य विधानसभा चुनाव में करीब ७० प्रतिशत मतदान हुआ था। इस बार चुनाव आयोग के साथ साथ समान सरकारी और गैर सरकारी सरकारी और गैर सरकारी संगठनों की ओर से मतदाता जागरूकता अभियान भी चलाया गया और उम्मीद है कि इस कारण इस बार भी बडी संख्या में लोग चुनाव में हिस्सा लेंगे। कल से चुनाव को शांतिपूर्ण और सुचारू रूप से कराने के लिए राज्यभर में सुरक्षा कडी कर दी गई है। १४वीं विधानसभा के लिए कल करीब राज्य के करीब साढे चार करोड मतदाता २ हजार ६१२ पुरूष और एक सौ ३६ महिला उम्मीदवारों के भाग्य का फैसला करेंगे। एस जॉय के साथ संजय प्रताप सिंह आकाशवाणी समाचार चैन्नई।

पुद्दुचेरी में कल शांतिपूर्ण मतदान कराने के लिए सभी आवश्यक व्यवस्थाएं कर ली गई हैं। इलैक्ट्रॉनिक वोटिंग मशीने और अन्य मतदान सामग्री मतदान केन्द्रों पर ले जाई गई है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि पुद्दुचेरी के मुख्य चुनाव अधिकारी ने कहा है कि मतदान के लिए चुनाव फोटो पहचानपत्र या चुनाव विभाग द्वारा जारी की गई बूथ स्लिप के अलावा कोई अन्य दस्तावेज स्वीकार नहीं किया जाएगा।
पुडुचेरी विधानसभा की ३० सीटों के लिए लगभग आठ लाख १० हजार मतदाता कल अपने मताधिकार का प्रयोग करेगे। चुनाव विभाग द्वारा आदर्श आचार संहिता का कडाई से पालन किये जाने के कारण यहां नियमों के उल्लंघन के बहुत कम मामले सामने आये हैं। हालांकि चुनाव विभाग द्वारा गठित २३ उड़न दस्तों ने अब तक पैसों के बदले वोट के मामलो में तीन लाख रूपये से अधिक की राशि जब्त की है। और साथ ही १८ लोगों को इन मामलो में गिरफ्तार किया है। सभी मतदान केन्द्रों को आपस में वेब कास्टिंग के जरिये जोड़कर मतदान प्रक्रिया को सुचारू ढंग से संपन्न कराने की व्यवस्था की गई है। केन्द्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल सीआरपीएफ की १० कंपनियों के अलावा स्थानीय पुलिस कर्मियों को भी मतदान केन्द्रों पर शांति व्यवस्था बनाये रखने के लिए तैनात यिा जा रहा है। इसके १५२ संवेदनशील मतदान केन्द्रों पर अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा बलों की तैनाती की जा रही है। वरिष्ठ नागरिकों और मतदाताओं के लिए भी सुविधायुक्त मतदान की व्यवस्था की गई है। पुडुचेरी से वी रत्नम के साथ नई दिल्ली से मैं रजतसेन गुप्ता ।

केन्द्रीय सर्तकता आयोग ने सरकारी विभागों के मुख्य सतर्कता अधिकारियों से कहा है कि वे उन अधिकारियों की सूची तैयार करें जो राष्ट्रमंडल खेल परियोजनाओं के क्रियान्वयन के समय भ्रष्टाचार के मामलों में कथित रूप से शामिल थे। सभी निकाय और निर्माण एजेंसियों से भी कहा गया है कि उन्होंने खेल संबंधी जो भी कार्य सम्पन्न किए हैं, उससे संबंधित दस्तावेजों को सीवीसी की वेबसाइट में डाल दें। खेल कार्यों की जांच कर रहे आयोग के विशेष दल को अधिकारियों के खिलाफ ठेका प्रक्रिया में गड़बड़ी और अनुचित जल्दबाजी किए जाने के कथित सबूत मिले हैं। ----
जापान में परमाणु संकट आज और गहरा गया। क्षतिग्रस्त फुकुशिमा संयंत्र में संकट का स्तर बढ़कर सात पहुंच गया है, जो रूस में १९८६ की चेरनोबिल दुर्घटना के बराबर है। देश में भूकम्प के झटके भी लगातार महसूस किये जा रहे हैं। आज सवेरे तोक्यो के ७७ किलोमीटर पूर्व में चिबा प्रान्त में छह दशमलव तीन तीव्रता का भूकम्प आया, जिससे कम से कम छह लोगों की मौत हो गई। कल पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में सात दशमलव एक तीव्रता का भूकम्प महसूस किया गया, जिससे एक व्यक्ति की मृत्यु हो गई और पांच लोग घायल हुए। जापान को ११ मार्च को आए भूकम्प और त्सुनामी के असर से मुक्त होने के लिए अब भी जूझना पड़ रहा है। इस भूकम्प से देश के पूर्वोत्तर भागों में भारी तबाही हुई थी। फुकुशिमा दाइचि परमाणु बिजलीघर के खतरे का स्तर बढ़ने की घोषणा का फैसला इसलिए करना पड़ा, क्योंकि कई घंटो से संयंत्र में दस हजार टेराबैर्क्यूल्स प्रति घंटे के हिसाब से विकिरण होने का अनुमान लगाया गया था। लेकिन जापान की परमाणु और औद्योगिक सुरक्षा एजेंसी ने कहा है कि संयंत्र से विकिरण उत्सर्जन चेरनोबिल दुर्घटना की अपेक्षा बहुत कम है। एजेंसी के अनुसार खतरे का स्तर सात तक इसलिए बढ़ाया गया, क्योंकि हवा, सब्जियों, नल के पानी और समुद्र में विकिरण के रिसाव का बहुत अधिक असर पड़ा है। एक अधिकारी ने कहा है कि स्तर सात का मतलब व्यापक नुकसान वाली बड़ी दुर्घटना से है।----

आंध्रप्रदेश में इस अवसर पर मंदिरों के नगर भद्राचलम में भगवान श्रीराम और देवी सीता के विवाह का भव्य आयोजन किया गया। खम्मम जिले का ये शहर दक्षिण अयोध्या के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। परम्परा के अनुसार मुख्यमंत्री एन किरण कुमार रेड्डी ने इस विवाह के अवसर पर राज्य सरकार की ओर से रेशमी वस्त्र और हीरे जवाहरात भेंट किये। पूरे राज्य और ओड़िशा, छत्तीसगढ़ तथा महाराष्ट्र से दो लाख से भी अधिक लोग इस विवाहोत्सव को देखने पहुंचे। कल श्रीराम का भव्य राज्याभिषेक आयोजित किया जाएगा। यह आयोजन १२ वर्ष के अंतराल से हो रहा है और इसमें आंध्रप्रदेश के राज्यपाल ई एस एल नरसिम्हन भाग लेंगे।

मध्य प्रदेश सरकार इस वर्ष ३५ मीट्रिक टन गेहूं न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य पर खरीदेगी। हमारे भोपाल संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि गेहूं खरीद का काम अगले महीने तक चलेगा। १५ मार्च को गेहू की खरीदी शुरू होने के बाद से अब तक मध्यप्रदेश में आठ लाख से मीट्रिक टन अधिक गेहूं खरीदा जा चुका है। सर्वाधिक एक लाख ४५ हजार मीट्रिक टन की खरीदी हडर्षा जिले में हुई है। भुगतान मे किसी भी तरह की गडबडी रोकने के लिए राज्य सरकार ने सीधे किसानो के बैंक खातों में पैसा जमा करने की नई यवस्था लागू की है। अभी तक किसानों के खातों में एक हजार करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की राशि जमा की जा चुकी है। इसमे ंराज्य सरकार द्वारा प्रति क्विंटल पर दिया जा रहा सौ रुपये का बोनस शामिल है। इस वर्ष प्रदेश भर में १८५० से अधिक गेहू खरीदी केन्द्र स्थापित किये गये हैं। शारिक नूर आकाशवाणी समाचार भोपाल।

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said that BRICS leaders can contribute in sustaining the process of global financial recovery, even as fresh uncertainties have emerged due to recent developments in different parts of the world. Dr. Singh who has left on a five-day visit to China and Kazakhstan to meet global leaders said in his departure statement that coordination among the BRICS countries will work to the advantage of the grouping. The key areas of coordination include sustainable development, balanced growth, energy and food security, reform in the international financial institutions besides balance of trade. He asserted that BRICS countries were members of the G-20 and the united nations security council and working with each other at these fora had been positive and holds promise. He said he is looking forward to his meeting with the Chinese president as the relationship has acquired a global significance. Dr.Singh will hold bilateral talks with Hu Jintao on political affairs, trade and security on the side lines of the summit. During the meeting the stapled visa issue and the resumption of defence exchanges is likely to figure. The two fastest growing economies of the world will focus on enhancing bilateral trade. Bilateral trade will be among the priorities amid India's concerns about the increasing trade imbalance between neighbours. India-China trade last year touched a record 61.7 billion US dollars. The two countries have set a trade target of 100 billion dollars by 2015.
Welcoming South Africa’s membership of BRICS, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said it will provide an African perspective in summit deliberations. In his departure statement he has said BRICS can make in sustaining the process of global economic and financial recovery of world economy. He has said the India-China relationship is a key relationship which has now acquired global significance and during his stay at Sanya in China he will be meeting with President of China Hu Jintao. He has also said he will have bilateral meetings with Presidents of Russia, Brazil and South Africa at the sidelines of BRICS summit at Sanya as relations with these countries are very warm and substantive. BRICS nations account for 40 percent of the global population and 20 percent of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP). At the BRICS summit, its leaders will discuss their concerns on the international situation, financial, development and security issues and outline future cooperation. The situation in Libya and some other countries in the North African region, causing volatility in oil supplies and prices, is also expected to be discussed at the Sanya summit. Poll preparations are in full swing in Tamilnadu, Kerala and Puducherry for tomorrow's voting to elect new Assemblies. In Tamilnadu, over 4.6 crore-strong electorate are eligible to cast their votes to decide who will assert political supremacy in the state this time. There are 2773 candidates in the fray. The fate of political heavyweights, whose poll fortune to be decided tomorrow include DMK leader and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, his arch rival and AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi's son and Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin and DMDK actor-founder Vijayakanth. The ruling DMK is contesting 119 seats in the 234 member Assembly, leaving 63 seats to Congress, 30 to PMK, 10 to Viduthalai Chirutagal Katchi, seven to Kongu Munnetra Katchi, three to IUML and one each to Moovendar Munnetra Kazhagam and Perunthalaivar Katchi. AIADMK is contesting 162 seats and has allocated 41 seats to DMDK, 12 to CPI-M, 10 to CPI, three to Manitha Neya Makkal Katchi, two to All India Samuthuva Makkal Katchi, one each to AIFB, All India Movendar Munnetra Kazhagam, RPI and Kongu Ilaginar Peravai. Female voters outnumber male voters in Kerala. 78 women candidates are fighting the elections. Close to 4000 booths have been identified as sensitive. In Kerala, voters will have to produce photo identity cards or photographed voters' slips issued by the Election Commission to cast votes. In Puducherry, all necessary arrangements have been made for peaceful polling tomorrow. Electronic voting machines and other poll materials are being taken to the booths this afternoon. All liquor shops in the Union Territory will remain closed. Puducherry Chief Electoral Officer Belateen Pertin has appealed to the voters to ensure 100 per cent polling in tomorrow's Assembly Polls. In Puducherry over 8 lakh 10 thousand voters will exercise their franchise tomorrow to elect a 30 member Legislative Assembly. Since the Election Department is strictly implementing the model code of conduct, offences for violations were only a few. The 23 flying squads set up by the Department to check Cash for Vote so far seized more than 3 lakh rupees and arrested 18 offenders. To ensure smooth polling, all the polling booths have been connected through web casting. 10 companies of CRPF along with local police will be deployed in all polling booths to ensure peaceful polling. In West Bengal, campaigning has reached a feverish pitch for the first phase of Assembly polls to be held on 18th of this month. The Enforcement Directorate is all set to attach properties worth 130 crore rupees allegedly belonging to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and his aides. The Directorate, probing charges of huge illegal investments and hawala transactions against Koda and his associates, got an approval order from the adjudicating authority under the Prevention of Money Laundering (PMLA) Act in the national capital. Sources said this is the first order that the Directorate has got and more such attachments are in the offing as the total cost of the properties ascertained and identified by the ED is more than 200 crore rupees. The ED has identified properties primarily in the state of Jharkhand and a few in adjoining Bihar, the properties to be attached also include those allegedly owned by Koda's associates like Binod and Vikash Sinha, who are in judicial custody. Koda and his associates are facing inquiries by various probe agencies like the Income Tax department, the CBI and the Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau regarding the alleged illegal investments.

Japan's nuclear crisis worsened today with the severity level at the damaged Fukushima Daiichi plant increasing to a maximum seven level bringing it at par with the 1986 Chernobyl catastrophe in Russia. Earthquakes continue to rock the country, at least six people were killed in the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck Chiba prefecture, 77 kms east of Tokyo, this morning. An aftershock of 7.1 had rocked the northeast yesterday killing one person and injuring five others. Japan is still struggling to recover from the March 11 Earthquake and Tsunami that devasted the northern parts of the country. The decision to raise the threat level at the Fukushima Daichi nuclear plant was made after radiation of 10,000 terabequerels per hour had been estimated at the plant for several hours. Japan's Nuclear and Industry Safety Agency however said radiation emissions from the plant, were a tenth of that from the Chernobyl accident. The agency said, the severity level was upgraded to seven as the impact of radiation leaks has been widespread affected the air, vegetables, tap water and the ocean. Scientists from North and South Korea met today to discuss a joint scientific survey of potential volcanic and seismic activity at the highest mountain on the Korean peninsula. Four scientists from each side met at the North Korean border town of Kaesong to discuss potential research at Mount Paekdu, located along North Korea's border with China. The 2,740-meter high mountain last erupted in 1903, but experts say recent scientific data suggest Paekdu has an active core that, if it erupts, could cause a huge lake to overflow and flood surrounding areas.

Global Energy Forum will be organized in Dubai from 17 to 19 of this month where leading experts including Former President of India, Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and former Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed ElBaradei will be among those who will attend the Forum. India and Senegal have discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of Fertiliser Sector. Senegal's Senior Minister for Agro Industry Abdoulaye Balde met Union Minister of State for Chemical and Fertilizers Srikant Jena in New Delhi and appreciated the contribution of India in developing the Phosphate Sector in Senegal. Mr Jena said India is interested in deepening ties between the two countries in the phosphate sector. Mr. Balde also sought India's support for development of agriculture sector in Senegal.

In Nepal, the Judicial Council headed by Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha dismissed Appellate Court Pokhara Judge Om Prasad Subedi and Appellate Court Judge Tej Bahadur Karki. Justice Subedi has been dismissed for not performing his duties honestly and lack of moral conduct. Justice Karki has been sacked for lack of honesty, misconduct and poor performance. Four others have been reprimanded on charges of misconduct and incompetence. In Madhya Pradesh, the state government will procure 35 metric tons of wheat on minimum support price this year. Our correspondent reports wheat procurement will continue till 31st of May.
Over eight lakh metric ton wheat has been procured in the state so far since the wheat procurement began on 15th March. The highest quantity of 1 lakh 45 thousand metric ton has been procured in Harda district. In order to stop irregularities in the payment, the state government has introduced a system of directly depositing the amount in bank accounts of farmers. Over one thousand crore rupees have been deposited in the bank accounts of farmers so far. This amount includes bonus paid at the rate of 100 rupees per quintal by the state government. The Central Vigilance Commission has asked Chief Vigilance Officers of government departments to prepare a list of officials who were allegedly involved in corruption while executing the Commonwealth Games related projects. It has also asked all civic and construction agencies to put documents related to the Games works carried out by them on the CVC's website. A special team of the Commission probing the Games related work for alleged graft has found evidence against senior government officials for rigged tender process, undue haste that led to supply of inferior quality products and poor construction of infrastructure related works. The festival celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Ram also marks the end of the nine days of fasting during Navaratras. In the national capital, Delhi devotees have been thronging temples across the city to offer prayers since early morning. A report from our Correspondent:
Long queues were witnessed at temples across the city today as hundreds of devotees waited patiently for their turn to offer prayers to Lord Ram. Temples have been tastefully decorated and idols of Lord Ram, Sita and Hanuman have been adorned with sparkling jewellery. Elaborate security arrangements have been made to manage crowd at the temples. Special prayer ceremonies are also being organised in homes and special food is being offered to 'kanjaks' - young girls, to mark the end of the nine days of fasting during the navratras. Satya Saibaba’s health condition is continued to show improvement as he is responding to the treatment positively. He was admitted in hospital over 15 days ago suffering multiple organ dis-function. In a latest health bulletin released this morning at Puttaparthi, the Director of Satya Sai Institute of Medical Sciences Dr A N Safaya said his liver functions are slowly recovering. According to the Bulletin, he continues to be on ventilator and is undergoing dialysis periodically, even as his kidney and lung function improves.
