श्रीलंका को 6 विकेट से हराकर क्रिकेट विश्वकप जीतने वाली भारतीय टीम पर बधाईयों और पुरस्कारों की घोषणा का सिलसिला जारी है।  28 वर्षों के बाद टीम इंडिया द्वारा हासिल ऐतिहासिक उपलब्धि पर देशभर में जश्न मनाने का सिलसिला अभी भी चल रहा है। फाइनल मैच में कप्तानी पारी खेलते हुए महेंद्र सिंह धोनी ने जोरदार छक्का मारकर भारत को ऐतिहासिक विजय दिलाई।
भारतीय क्रिकेट नियंत्रण बोर्ड बीसीसीआई ने टीम के प्रत्येक खिलाड़ी के लिए एक-एक करोड़ रूपए देने की घोषणा की है। इसके अलावा कोच और सपोर्ट स्टाफ को पचास-पचास लाख रूपए तथा चयनकर्ताओं को पच्चीस-पच्चीस लाख रूपए दिए जाएंगे। दिल्ली सरकार ने कप्तान धोनी को दो करोड़ रूपए और भारतीय टीम में दिल्ली के खिलाड़ियों को एक-एक करोड़ रूपए देने की घोषणा की है।
एयर इंडिया ने अपने यहां काम करने वाले महेंद्र सिंह धोनी, युवराज सिंह, हरभजन सिंह और सुरेश रैना की पदोन्नति की घोषणा की है।
झारखंड सरकार ने धोनी को झारखंड रत्न का सम्मान देने का फैसला किया है। राज्य सरकार ने धोनी के मार्गदर्शन में एक क्रिकेट अकादमी स्थापित करने का भी निर्णय लिया है।
रेल मंत्रालय ने विजयी भारतीय टीम के सदस्यों को एसी प्रथम श्रेणी के आजीवन रियायती पास जारी करने की घोषणा की है। ये पास खिलाड़ियों के अलावा उनके एक साथी को असीमित मुत यात्रा के लिए दिए जाएंगे। पंजाब सरकार ने युवराज सिंह और हरभजन सिंह को उनके शानदार खेल के लिए एक-एक करोड़ रूपए देने का ऐलान किया है।
शानदार खेल के लिए कप्तान एम एस धोनी, सचिन तेंदुलकर और टीम के सभी सदस्यों का सम्मान भी किया जा रहा है। मुंबई में श्रीलंका के राष्ट्रपति महिंदा राजपक्षे के साथ फाइनल मैच देखने वाली राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटिल ने विजयी टीम के सम्मान में आज शाम मुंबई के राजभवन में जलपान का आयोजन किया। इस अवसर पर महाराष्ट्र के राज्यपाल और मुख्यमंत्री भी मौजूद थे।
28 सालों के बाद देश को क्रिकेट विश्वकप दिलवाने वाली इस टीम का महाराष्ट्र के राज्यपाल के. शंकरन नारायण ने राज्यभवन में गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया। टीम के प्रशिक्षिण गैरी कर्स्टन तथा टीम मैंनेजमेंट के सभी सदस्यों को भी इस अवसर पर चाय के लिए आमंत्रित किया गया था। मुंबई के ऐतिहासिक राजभवन के लांच पर आयोजित इस समारोह में कप्तान महेन्द्र सिंह धोनी ने अपने सभी साथियों का राष्ट्रपति के साथ परिचय करवाया। इन सभी खिलाड़ियों से हाथ मिलाते हुए राष्ट्रपति ने उन्हें जीत की बधाई दी और उनके साथ फोटो खिंचवाएं। इससे पहले धोनी को भेजे विशेष संदेश में राष्ट्रपति ने टीम के योगदान की सराहना की और कहां की टीम के सभी सदस्य करोड़ों देशवासियों की तरफ से धन्यवाद के हकदार हैं।

असम में कल होने वाले विधानसभा चुनाव के पहले चरण की सभी तैयारियां पूरी कर ली गई हैं। इस चरण में बराक घाटी के 13, ऊपरी असम और दो पर्वतीय जिलों में 62 निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में सुबह सात बजे से तीन बजे तक कड़ी सुरक्षा के बीच वोट डाले जाएंगे। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि 85 लाख 9 हजार 11 मतदाता 38 महिलाओं सहित 485 उम्मीदवारों के चुनावी भाग्य का फैसला करेंगे।
बराक घाटी के दक्षिण करीमगंज विधानसभा क्षेत्र में सबसे ज्यादा 25 उम्मीदवार है जबकि कारबीआंगलांग जिले के बोकाजन में मात्र तीन उम्मीदवार चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं। कल 11 हजार 264 चुनाव केन्द्रों पर मतदाता वोट डालेंगे, इसमें से दो हजार 37 केन्द्रों अतिसंवेदनशील और 2985 को संवेदनशील घोषित किया गया है। इसके साथ ही 817 गांवों पर भी नजर रखी जा रही है।

तमिलनाडु में विभिन्न दलों के उम्मीदवार चुनाव प्रचार में जोर-शोर से लगे हुए हैं। विभिन्न योजनाओं का वायदा करते हुए उम्मीदवार अपने-अपने क्षेत्रों में चुनाव प्रचार में काफी व्यस्त हैं। राजनीतिक दल मतदाताओं के सामने अपनी-अपनी उपलब्धियां और कुछ मजबूरियां भी रख रहे हैं। इस सप्ताह प्रदेश में राष्ट्रीय स्तर के नेताओं के भी चुनाव प्रचार में शामिल होने की संभावना है।

केरल में चुनाव प्रचार जोरों पर है। सभी प्रमुख दलों के नेता चुनावी सभाएं कर रहे हैं।
केन्द्रीय मंत्री और वरिष्ठ कांग्रेसी नेता ए.के. एंटनी ने यूडीएफ की जीत सुनिश्चित करने के लिए विभिन्न जिलों में चुनावी रैलियों को संबोधित किया। श्री जेटली ने टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम मामले में सीबीआई द्वारा दाखिल आरोप पत्र को विधानसभा चुनाव से जोड़ते हुए चिंता व्यक्त की। इस बीच, मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिष्ट पार्टी के महासचिव प्रकाश करात ने कोलम और तिरूअंतनपुरम में कई जगह चुनावी सभाएं कर एडीएफ सरकार की उपलब्धियां गिनाई और प्रदेश के विकास का मुद्दा उठाया।

पुडुचेरी में मतदान का दिन जैसे-जैसे नजदीक आता जा रहा है, चुनावी प्रचार जोर पकड़ता जा रहा है। निर्वाचन आयोग द्वारा उठाए गए   सख्त कदमों की वजह से राजनीतिक पार्टियां और उम्मीदवार जुलूस निकालने और रैलियां करने से बच रही हैं। विभिन्न दलों के उम्मीदवार इस बार जनसभाएं, रोड शो और घर-घर प्रचार का ही सहारा ले रहे हैं।

पश्चिम बंगाल में विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए संयुक्त रूप से चुनाव प्रचार के बारे में विचार-विमर्श करने के लिए वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेता प्रणब मुखर्जी और तृणमूल कांग्रेस प्रमुख ममता बनर्जी ने आज शाम कोलकाता में बैठक की। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि चुनाव में सत्तारूढ़ वाममोर्चा का सामना करने के लिए तृणमूल कांग्रेस और कांग्रेस के बीच चुनावी गठबंधन हुआ है।

पश्चिम बंगाल में कांग्रेस ने विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए चुनावी  घोषण पत्र जारी कर दिया है। कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेता प्रणब मुखर्जी ने आज कोलकाता में घोषणा पत्र जारी किया। घोषणा पत्र में कांग्रेस ने उद्योगों के लिए भूमि अधिग्रहण के बदले भूमि मालिकों को बाजार दर पर मुआवजा देने की प्रतिबद्धता जताई। इसके अलावा कांग्रेस असंगठित क्षेत्रों से जुड़े श्रमिकों के लिए आयोग के गठन और मानव संसाधन विकास के लिए तकनीकी और ज्ञान आयोग के गठन पर जोर दिया है। घोषणा पत्र में उन बेरोजगार युवकों के लिए विशेष रोजगार पैकेज देने की बात कही गई है जिनके नाम रोजगार कार्यालय में पांच से अधिक वर्षों से पंजीकृत हैं।

देश में लगातार दूसरे वर्ष सामान्य मॉनसून रहने की संभावना है। इससे किसानों को अच्छी फसल होने की उम्मीदें जगी हैं। राष्ट्रीय जलवायु केन्द्र के निदेशक और मुख्य भविष्यवेत्ता डी. शिवानंदा पई ने आज नई दिल्ली में बताया कि भूमध्य रेखा और पूर्वी प्रशांत सागर में बढ़ी ठंड की वजह से दक्षिण-पश्चिम मानसून अच्छा होने की संभावना है।

पाकिस्तान के पंजाब प्रांत में एक धार्मिक स्थल के पास तीन जोरदार बम धमाकों में कम से कम तीस लोग मारे गए हैं। डेरा गाजी खान जिले में एक सूफी दरगाह के नजदीक हुए इन धमाकों में सौ लोग घायल भी हुए हैं। सरकारी प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि पहला विस्फोट डेरा गाजी खान से करीब तीस किलोमीटर दूर सखी सरवर दरबार के मुख्य प्रवेच्च द्वार पर हुआ। दो अन्य विस्फोट दरगाह में राहत कार्य शुरू होने के तुरंत बाद हुए। राहत कार्य में लगे एक डॉक्टर के अनुसार घायलों में कम से कम बीस लोगों की हालत चिंताजनक है। घायलों में औरते, बूढे और बच्चे सभी शामिल हैं। करीब साठ घायल लोगों को इलाज के लिए डेरा गाजी खान, मुल्तान और पास के अन्य अस्पतालों में ले जाया गया है।

लीबिया में राष्ट्रपति कर्नल गद्दाफी की वफादार सेनाओं ने आज पच्च्िचमी शहर मिसूराता पर गोले बरसाए। ये इलाका पिछले कुछ हतों से विद्रोहियों के कब्जे में है। इसके अलावा तेल के लिए महत्त्वपूर्ण पूर्वी शहर ब्रेगा पर कब्जे के लिए दोनों ओर से लड़ाई जारी है। पच्च्िचमी मीडिया के अनुसार सरकारी फौजों की भारी गोलाबारी से मिसूराता में कम से कम एक व्यक्ति मारा गया और कई अन्य घायल हो गए। खबरों में कहा गया है कि पिछले कुछ दिनों से गद्दाफी समर्थक और विद्रोहियों के बीच हो रही भीषण लड़ाई में अभी यह साफ नहीं हो सका है कि ब्रेगा पर किसका नियंत्रण है। विद्रोहियों का दावा है कि त्रिपोली से आठ सौ किलोमीटर पूर्व स्थित ब्रेगा शहर पर उन्होंने फिर से कब्जा कर लिया है। लेकिन लजजीरा चैनल का कहना है कि पच्च्िचमी देच्चों के गठबंधन द्वारा कर्नल गद्दाफी की फौजों को निच्चाना बनाकर हमला किए जाने के बावजूद विद्रोहियों की बढ़त काफी धीमी है।

जापान में फुकुच्चिमा दाइची परमाणु बिजली घर के क्षतिग्रस्त रिएक्टर में पडी दरार से समुद्र में फैल रहे विकिरण को रोकने के लिए संयंत्र के कर्मचारी जुटे हुए हैं। इससे पहले दरार को बंद करने के प्रयास सफल नहीं हो पाए थे। दूसरे नंबर के रिएक्टर में हुए बारह इंच की दरार को भरने के लिए इंजीनियर उसमें पानी सोखने वाला पॉलिमर डालने की कोच्चिच्च कर रहे हैं। परमाणु और औद्योगिक सुरक्षा एजेंसी ने कहा है कि रिएक्टर से पानी अभी भी प्रच्चांत महासागर की ओर जा रहा है और रिसाव में कोई कमी नहीं आई है।

अमरीका में पिछले महीने पवित्र कुरान के जलाए जाने के विरोध में अफगानिस्तान के विभिन्न शहरों में विरोध प्रदर्च्चन आज तीसरे दिन भी जारी रहे। दक्षिणी शहर कंधार में कल हुए विरोध प्रदर्च्चन में नौ लोग मारे गए थे और 81 घायल हुए थे।

कश्मीर घाटी में शोपियां में सुरक्षा बलों के साथ मुठभेड में हिजबुल मुजाहिद्दीन का एक कट्टर आतंकवादी मार गिराया गया। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि शोपियां इलाके में थरीना गांव के जंगलों में सुरक्षा बलों की जवाबी कार्यवाही में डोडा का रहने वाला आतंकवादी मोहम्मद जहीद उर्फ अबू जैद ढेर कर दिया गया। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि जहीद ने सुरक्षा बलों पर अंधाधुंध गोलियां चलाई थी।

केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो सी बी आई ने कहा है कि स्वान टेलिकॉम और यूनीटेक वायरलेस को पूर्व संचार मंत्री ए राजा द्वारा अपनाई गई पहले आओ पहले पाओ की विवादास्पद नीति के बारे में पहले से ही जानकारी थी। कल दायर किए गए सी बी आई के आरोप पत्र में कहा गया है कि दूरसंचार विभाग ने 10 जनवरी 2008 को आच्चय पत्र जारी करने से तीन महीने पहले ही इन कंपनियों को सूचना लीक कर दी थी।

भारत के महेश भूपति और लिएंडर पेस की जोड़ी ने म्यामी ओपन टेनिस प्रतियोगिता का डबल्स खिताब जीत लिया है। निर्णायक मुकाबले में भूपति और पेस की जोड़ी ने बेलारूस के मैक्स मिरनई और कनाडा के डेनियल नैस्टर की जोड़ी को 6-7, 6-2, 10-5 से हराया। इस जीत के साथ ही पेस और भूपति की जोड़ी विश्व रैंकिंग पर शीर्ष पर पहुंच गई है। पिछली बार लिएंडर पेस ने चैक गणराज्य के लुकास डुलोही के साथ यह खिताब जीता था।

The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil who watched the India, Sri Lanka final in Mumbai yesterday along with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksha , hosted a tea party today in honour of the victorious Team India. Maharashra Chief Minister and State Governor were also present on the occasion. Our correspondent reports from Mumbai that emotional scenes were witnessed in the city after grand finale.

 From the historic Wankhede stadium to the historic Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. Team India was felicitated by President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil on the lawns of the Raj Bhavan were the proud captain Dhoni introduced each and every team member to the President. Thousands of fans gathered outside Raj Bhavan to get a glimpse of the players. In the Victory message to the team the president had stated that the road to success has been long and hard, the team was tested at every stage. What led to victory was dedication to the cause, the strength of character to stay the course and astute leadership. All the team members deserved the thanks of a billion plus Indians. The city that never sleeps partied the whole of last night with crackers streaking across the night sky in reds yellows and blues.

Meanwhile, laurels and rewards continue to pour on the victorious Indian cricket team that won the ICC cricket world cup. Windfall from BCCI apart, bounties are coming from other quarters also. Air India decided to promote M.S. Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina. The Jharkhand government has decided to confer Jharkhand Ratan on the captain M.S. Dhoni. It has also decided to set up a cricket academy under Dhoni's guidance. The Railway Ministry announced lifetime 1st AC Complementary Passes to the members of the winning Indian team. The passes will be available to players along with one companion for unlimited free travel. Punjab has announced one crore rupees cash awards each to Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh for their sterling performance. The night sky over Wankhede stadium lit up with breathtaking fireworks as Indians took another lap of honour holding the trophy as the crowd continuously cheered them. Almost in every part of the city, people came out of their homes to celebrate the moment of glory together. The crowning glory at Wankhede yesterday did not come without reason. In Assam, the stage is all set for the first phase of assembly polls tomorrow. 62 constituencies in 13 districts of Barak Valley, Upper Assam and two hill districts would go to polls amid tight security. Our correspondent reports, an electorate of eighty five lakh nine thousand and eleven will decide the fate of 485 candidates, including 38 women in the fray.

Karimganj South in Barak Valley has the highest number of 25 candidates in the fray while Vaikhalamgso in Karbi Anglong district has the least with only three candidates. The electorate will exercise their franchise in 11,264 polling stations. A total of 2,033 booths have been identified as hyper sensitive, 2,985 sensitive and 817 hamlets as vulnerable. The highest ever security blanket has been provided on the polling day in the backdrop of threat issued by some insurgent groups who have not joined the peace process and also due to possible clashes between supporters of various candidates.

In Kerala, campaining by various parties is on. Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley and CPIM general secretary Prakash Karat are in the state spearheading their parties poll campaign.

Interacting with media, Arun Jaitely expressed serious concern about the manner in which CBI has filed charge sheet in 2G spectrum case. He said the core issue of the scam has been left out by CBI. He assessed that after assembly poll the Left parties will not be in power in any major state. Meanwhile, CPIM General Secretary Prakash Karat campaigned at Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram. A galaxy of top Congress leaders are addressing voters in different districts of Kerala to ensure UDF victory in poll.

In Tamilnadu, political leaders are carrying on their campaigning throughout the State. AIR correspondent reports that political parties are promising voters of various schemes.

Road shows of political parties continue to attract large crowds. Party candidates are on the streets visiting the voters and canvassing for the election. The election commission continues with its search and seizure policy. Complaints on Violation of model code of conduct is also on the rise as parties have been adapting novel methods like cd propaganda to hurl accusations against one another.

In West Bengal, the Congress today released its Election Manifesto for the Assembly Polls in the State. Senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee released the Manifesto in Kolkata this afternoon. The Congress committed compensations at market prices to the land loser for acquiring land for industries. A top Hizbul Mujahideen militant was today killed in an encounter with security forces in the Kashmir Valley in Shopian. Officials said, that Mohammad Zahid alias Abu Zaid, a resident of Doda district in Jammu region, was killed after a brief exchange of firing with security forces at  a village in Shopian, 60 kms from Srinagar.

In Reasi district, a militant hideout was busted by the security forces and a huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered.

In Pakistan, at least 30 people were killed and 100 others injured as three powerful blasts ripped through a crowded Sufi shrine near Dera Ghazi Khan in Punjab province today. A government official said, the first blast occurred at the main entrance of the Sakhi Sarwar Darbar located about 30 kms from Dera Ghazi Khan. The two other blasts went off inside the shrine soon after a rescue operation had been launched at the site. A  doctor in charge of emergency rescue service in the area said, that about 20 of the injured are in a serious condition. The injured included elderly persons, women and children. TV news channels reported that a suspected suicide bomber was captured by rescue workers. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

In Libya, troops loyal to Col. Gaddafi today pounded the western town of Misurata, which has been under its siege for weeks, as rebel forces in the east were involved in a seesaw desert battle for control of the strategic oil town of Brega. Western media reports said, massive shelling by government forces killed at least one person and wounded several others today in Misurata, the main rebel stronghold in the west. Reports said, it is unclear who controls Brega, which has been the scene of fierce fighting over the past few days when pro-Gaddafi forces returned after being driven out by rebel forces. Amid conflicting reports, the rebels claimed that they had regained control over Brega, 800 km east of Tripoli. Al Jazeera channel said, however, the opposition's advance appeared to be slow and uncertain despite two weeks of air strikes targeting the Col. Gaddafi's forces by the western military coalition. The Arab channel said, the opposition forces have advanced to a walled university campus near the town's western edge.

In Japan, workers are engaged in sealing a crack leaking radiation into the sea from a damaged reactor at the Fukushima Daichi nuclear plant. Earlier efforts to cement the crack had suffered setbacks. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electric Power Company, said two of its workers, missing since the March 11 killer quake and tsunami, were found dead in the basement of a reactor's building. More than 70 bodies have been recovered in the past three days.

India is likely to experience a normal monsoon for the second consecutive year, raising hopes for a good crop for millions of farmers across the country.  D. Sivananda Pai, Chief Forecaster and Director of the National Climate Centre said in New Delhi that the La Nina phenomenon, marked by intense cooling of the equatorial and east Pacific Ocean, is expected to continue till June. He said, such conditions are known to benefit the south-west monsoon. Last year, the country saw a normal monsoon with 413 of the 597 meteorological districts receiving normal or above normal rainfall.

Veteran tennis players Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi have  clinched the Miami Open Men's Doubles title in  the United States. With the win, the duo also became number one in the ATP World Tour Doubles Team Rankings.   Third seeded Bhupathi and Paes rallied to beat second seeded Belarusian-Canadian pair of Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor in three sets 6-7 6-2 10-5. Paes had won the title even last year with Lukas

Dlouhy. The win takes the Indians ahead of World number one Bob and Mike Bryan for first place in the ATP Doubles Team Rankings and in the battle to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. It is Paes and Bhupathi's second team title of the year, following the Chennai Open at the start of the season.

The chief negotiators of India and the European Union will hold meetings in New Delhi tomorrow to conclude talks for a proposed market opening pact this year. Official sources said, that India's chief negotiator and Special secretary in the commerce ministry P K Chaudhary and EU Chief Negotiator Ignacio Garcia Bercero will kick off the two-day meeting. Later, Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar is expected to meet his EU counterpart in Brussels on the 7th and 8th of this month. Both the sides are aiming to conclude the talks for Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement this year. This will  open commerce in goods, services and investment .

The European Union is India's largest trading partner and the bilateral trade in 2009-10 aggregated to 75 billion US Billion dollars.

United Nations meeting on climate change kicked off today in Bangkok. The six-day meeting will discuss action plans following decisions made at a ministerial meeting in Mexico last year. Pre-sessional workshops will continue from today to Tuesday morning before the official opening taking place on Tuesday afternoon. According to a UN official, a  total of 2,271 representatives from 175 countries are attending the Bangkok meeting, of which 1,417 are government officials.
