 क्रिकेट का विश्व कप जीतने पर पूरे देश में उत्साह और जश्न का माहौल बन हुआ है। मुम्बई के वानखेड़े स्टेडियम में जैसे ही कप्तान महेन्द्र सिंह धोनी ने श्रीलंका के नुवान कुलशेखरा की गेंद पर विजयी छक्का लगाया उत्साह और खुशी के बादल पूरे देश पर उमड़ पड़े। वानखेड़े स्टेडियम के अन्दर खिलाड़ी एक-दूसरे को बधाई देते हुए गले मिले, दर्शकों ने एक दूसरे को बांहों में भर लिया। आतिशबाजी आसमान में जीत की इबारत लिख रही थी। विभिन्न शहरों में लोगों ने घरों से निकलकर एक-दूसरे को जीत की खुशियां बांटी। लोग खुशी से झूम रहे थे और जय हो का नारा लगा रहे थे।

 दक्षिण मुंबई के ऐतिहासिक शिवाजी पार्क में मध्य-रात्रि का माहौल देखने लायक था। प्रशंसक नाच-गानें और पटाखों से भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम की जीत का जश्न मना रहे थे।

भारतीय कप्तान महेन्द्र सिंह धोनी ने कल श्रीलंकाई गेंदबाजों नुवान कुरूशेखरा की गेंद पर विजयी छका जड़ते ही पूरी मुंबई विश्व विजयी के जोश में डुब गई। तिरंगा फेहराते हुए एक दूसरे को बधाई देते हुए लोग बड़े पैमाने पर सड़को पर उतरे। आकर्षित रोशनी से मुंबई का आसमान निखर उठा था। हर कोने से पटाखों की आवाज आ रही थी। ऐतिहासिक शिवाजी पार्क में इकट्ठा हुए हजारों लोग अपने चहिते क्रिकेट खिलाड़ियों का जय घोष कर रहे थे। पूरी मुंबई और उपनगरों में लगभग एक ही माहौल था।

 पूरे आंध्रप्रदेश में नववर्ष और दिवाली जैसा माहौल था। क्रिकेट प्रेमियों ने जलूस निकाले, रैलियाँ निकालीं और रंगारंग कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत किये। भारतीय ध्वज फहराते हुए लोगों ने हिन्दुस्तान जिंदाबाद और चकदे इंडिया के नारे लगाय और मिठाईयाँ बांटी। देश के हर हिस्से में यही नज+ारा था। कर्नाटक में लोग खुशी से झुमते हुए नजर आए। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि इस मौके पर लोग एक दूसरे के गले लगते और मिठाईयां बांटते नजर आए।

भारत की शानदार जीत के बाद बैंगलूरू और कर्नाटक के कई भागों में लोगों ने धूमधाम से विजय उत्सव मनाया। तिरंगा फहराते हुए लोग पटाखों की रोशनी और जय,जय कार की गूंज हर तरफ से सुनाई दी। बैंगलूरू के एम.जी.रोड़, ब्रिगेड रोड़ और कमर्शियल स्ट्रीट में लोगों ने एकजुट होकर इस अभूतपूर्व और ऐतिहासिक जीत पर हर्ष व्यक्त किया। २८ साल के बाद जब धोनी की टीम ने विश्व कप जीतकर देश की गरिमा बढ़ाई तो लोगों की आंखें भर आईं और उनके सीने में देशप्रेम की भावना उमड़ती दिखाई दी। जय हिंद के नारे से उन्होंने अपने प्रसन्न मन को तसली दी। सुधीन्द्रा आकाशवाणी समाचार बैगलुरू।
 झारखंड के विभिन्न नगरों में लोगों ने शानदार जश्न मनाया  राजधानी रांची में लोग एल्बर्ट ऐक्का चौक और हरमु कालोनी में महेन्द्र सिंह धोनी के मकान के सामने सुबह तक नाचते गाते रहे।
 झारखंड सरकार ने धोनी को झारखंड खेल रत्न से सम्मानित करने का निर्णय किया है। धोनी के रांची लौटने पर मुख्य मंत्री अर्जुन मुंडा उनके शानदार स्वागत करने की तैयारी कर रहे हैं।
 दिल्ली की मुख्य मंत्री शीला दीक्षित भी जीत से काफी खुश नजर आईं और उन्होंने विजय राशि की घोषणा की।

हमारे चार खिलाड़ी हैं। दिल्ली के उन्हें एक-एक करोड़ रुपया देंगे। धोनी साहब को दो करोड़ रुपये देंगे जो उन्होंने लीड किया उनकी कैप्टनशिप में यह कामयाबी मिली।
 खाड़ी देशों में भी हज+ारों भारतीयों ने श्रीलंका पर भारतीय टीम की विजय का जश्न मनाया। सऊदी अरब के रियाद और जद्दा शहरों  और बहरीन, कतर और कुवैत में भी समुदायिक केन्द्रों में जमा खेल प्रेमियों ने मैच का भरपूर आनंद उठाया।

  ब्रिटेन के मीडिया ने भारतीय कप्तान धोनी के नेतृत्व की प्रशंसा की है। अखबारों ने लिखा है कि भारतीय टीम ने विश्व कप जीतकर पूरे देश को जश्न में सराबोर कर दिया। लंदन के अखबार द आब्ज+र्वर ने श्रीलंका के साथ फाइनल में भारत के जज्बे की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा है कि भारतीय टीम हावी रही। द संडे टाइम्स का कहना है कि धोनी ने ९१ रन की शानदार नाबाद पारी खेलकर दो सौ ७५ रन का लक्ष्य अपने हाथों में समेट लिया। अखबार ने गौतम गंभीर, विराट कोहली और युवराज सिंह के खेल को आत्मविश्वास से भरपूर बताया।

 राष्ट्रपति, उपराष्ट्रपति और प्रधानमंत्री ने विश्व कप जीतने पर भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम को बधाई दी है। कप्तान धोनी को संदेश में राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटिल ने कहा है कि सफलता का मार्ग मुश्किल रहा और हर कदम पर भारतीय टीम को कड़ी चुनौती का सामना करना पड़ा। राष्ट्रपति ने आज मुंबई में राजभवन में भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम को चाय के लिए आमंत्रित किया है।
 प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि टीम ने दुनिया को दिखा दिया है कि भारत क्रिकेट में शीर्ष पर है।
 रक्षा मंत्री ए के एन्टनी ने विश्व कप क्रिकेट प्रतियोगिता जीतने पर भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के कप्तान महेंद्र सिंह धोनी को बधाई दी है।
  यू पी ए अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने कहा कि भारतीय टीम की जीत सुनहरे अक्षरों में दर्ज की जायेगी। वे दिल्ली में रात ११ बजे आईटीओ चौराहे पर विश्व कप जीतने का जश्न मना रहे लोगों में शामिल हो गईं और राष्ट्रीय ध्वज लहराने लगीं।  उन्होंने लोगों से हाथ मिलाया और भारत की इस शानदार कामयाबी पर खुशी जाहिर की। श्रीमती गांधी ने कहा कि विश्व कप जीतकर टीम इंडिया ने निश्चित रूप से देश को गौरवान्वित किया है।
 पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री युसूफ रजा गिलानी ने भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम की जीत पर प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह को बधाई दी है।

 असम में विधानसभा चुनाव में निष्पक्ष और शांतिपूर्ण मतदान के लिए सुरक्षा की अभूतपूर्व व्यवस्था की गई है। बराक घाटी, ऊपरी असम और दो पर्वतीय जिलों की ६२ सीटों के लिए कल वोट डाले जाएंगे। मतदान सुबह सात बजे शुरू होगा और तीन बजे तक चलेगा। वरिष्ठ सुरक्षा अधिकारियों के हवाले से हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि हालांकि ज्यादातर उग्रवादी गुट शांति वार्ता चाहते है, लेकिन उनसे अलग हुए गुटों से फिर भी खतरा बरकरार है।

शांतिपूर्ण मतदान के लिए ४६ हजार से ज्यादा सुरक्षाकर्मियों को तैनात किया गया है। इसके अलावा हेलिकॉप्टर द्वारा भी स्थिति पर नजर रखी जाएगी। सबसे ज्यादा सुरक्षा उग्रवाद प्रभावित अति संवेदनशील विधानसभा क्षेत्र हेलाकांदी, हाफलोंग और पश्चिमी कोकराझार के लिए की गई है। पहली बार चुनाव प्रक्रिया पर मोबाइल फोन द्वारा एसएमएस के जरिए नजर रखी जा रही है। पहले चरण के मतदान में एक हजार ३५० मतदान केन्द्रों पर कैमरे की व्यवस्था की गई है। कुल ११ हजार २६४ केन्द्रों में से दो हजार ९३ को अतिसंवेदनशील और दो हजार ९८५ को संवेदनशील घोषित किया गया है। ८१७ गांव पर पहरा लगा दिया गया है और कच्छार जिले से सटी बांग्लादेश की सीमा और मिजोरम के इलाके को सील कर दिया गया है।

 डिब्ररूगढ़ से हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि सभी जिलों में मतदान की पूरी तैयारियां कर ली गई हैं।

डिब्ररूगढ़ जिले के सात निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में आठ लाख से अधिक मतदाता हैं। इन्हें २८ खण्ड और १०२ सेक्टर में विभाजित किया गया है। डिब्ररूगढ़, काबुआ, मोरान, थिंगखांग, लाहोवा, दुरियाजान,  नारकटिया के लिए एक हजार २२६ मतदान केन्द्र बनाए गए हैं। मतदान के वीडियो रिकॉडिंग के भी प्रबंध किये गए हैं। मतदान का समय सुबह सात बजे से दोपहर तीन बजे तक रखा गया है। प्रशासन ने कल के मतदान के लिए कमर कस ली है। छह हजार से ज्यादा मतदानकर्मी लगाए गए हैं। संवेदनशील क्षेत्रों में धारा १४४ लगा दी गई है और केन्द्रीय अर्धसैनिक बलों की टुकड़ियां लगाई गई हैं।

 इस बीच, निर्वाचन आयोग ने असम के स्वास्थ्य मंत्री हेमन्त बिस्वा शर्मा द्वारा नामांकन पर्चा दाखिल करते समय चुनाव आचार संहिता का उल्लंघन करने पर आपत्ति जताई है। एक अन्य कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार जमालुद्दीन को भी बगैर अनुमति के एक शिक्षण संस्थान में चुनाव सभा करने के लिए फटकार लागई गई है।

 तमिलनाडु में १४वीं विधानसभा के लिए १३ अप्रैल को होने जा रहे मतदान का प्रचार जोरों पर है। पटाखों की नगरी शिवकाशी में सरकारी प्रतिबंध के कारण इस बार पोस्टर नहीं छापे जा रहे हैं। ऑल इंडिया अन्ना डीएमके की अध्यक्ष जयललिता आज शिवकाशी सहित दक्षिणी जिलों के चुनावी दौरे पर हैं।

 केरल में जैसे जैसे चुनाव की तारीख नजदीक आती जा रही है, चुनाव प्रचार जोर पकड़ता जा रहा है। राजनीतिक दलों के वरिष्ठ नेता अपने अपने उम्मीदवारों के पक्ष में मतदाताओं को रिझाने की पुरजोर कोशिश कर रहे हैं।
भ्रष्टाचार और मूल्य वृद्धि आमतौर पर पूरे राज्य में मुख्य मुद्दा है। लेकिन कई क्षेत्रों में विकास के साथ ही स्थानीय मुद्दे भी हावी हैं। कांग्रेसी नेता अपने चुनावी सभाओं में राज्य के तीव्र विकास का वायदा कर रहे हैं। जबकि एलडीएफ फिर से सत्ता में लौटने पर अपने सामाजिक सुरक्षा कार्यक्रमों के प्रभावी विस्तार की बात कर रही है। उधर भाजपा अन्य विषयों के साथ ही रचनात्मक विपक्ष के मुद्दे पर मतदाताओं के बीच है। इन सब के बीच चुनाव आयोग की सख्ती के परिणाम स्वरूप चुनावी शोर-शराबा न होने से मतदाता सुकून में हैं।

 उद्योगपति रतन टाटा और कॉरपोरेट लॉबिस्ट नीरा राडिया टू जी स्पैक्ट्रम आंवटन की अनियमितताओं के संबंध में कल डॉ० मुरली मनोहर जोशी की अध्यक्षता वाली लोकलेखा समिति के सामने पेश होंगे। राडिया की राजनेताओं, उद्योगपतियों, नौकरशाहों और पत्रकारों के साथ टेलीफोन बातचीत के टेप टू जी स्पैक्ट्रम घोटाले की जांच का काफी अहम हिस्सा है। उम्मीद है कि समिति राडिया से यूपीए सरकार के दूसरे कार्यकाल के दौरान मंत्रियों के विभाग बंटवारे के बारे में उनकी टैप की गई बातचीत के बारे में पूछताछ करेगी। लोक लेखा समिति रतन टाटा से टू जी और थ्री जी स्पैक्ट्रम आवंटन सहित संचार क्षेत्र की ताजा स्थिति के बारे में जानकारी ले सकती है।

 जापान में परमाणु संकट दूर करने के प्रयास को आज उस समय एक और झटका लगा, जब क्षतिग्रस्त रिएक्टर की दरार को कंकरीट से भरने का प्रयास विफल हो गया। ११ मार्च को आये भंयकर भूंकप और सुनामी के बाद फुकुशिमा परमाणु संयंत्र के रिएक्टरों को ठंडा करने वाली प्रणाली ठप्प हो गई थी  जिसके बाद रिएक्टरों के अत्याधिक गर्म हो जाने से उनसे विकिरण का संकट पैदा हो गया था। क्षतिग्रस्त फुकुशिमा दाईइची परमाणु संयंत्र के रिएक्टर से अत्याधिक रेडियोधर्मिता वाले जल का प्रशांत महासागर में रिसाव शुरू हो गया था। संयंत्र का संचालन करने वाली तोक्यो इलैक्ट्रिक पॉवर कंपनी टेप्को ने बताया कि यह रिसाव उसके रिएक्टर नम्बर दो की दरार से हो रहा था। इसका पता चलते ही दरार को सील करने के प्रयास किये गये जिससे विकिरण प्रदूषित जल समुद्र में न जा सके। बीस सेंटीमीटर की दरार को कंकरीट से भरने के बाद भी इससे विकिरण का भारी मात्रा में रिसाव हो रहा है। यह सामान्य से चार हजार गुना से भी ज्यादा है। असफल प्रयास के बाद टेप्को के इंजीनियर दरार को पानी सोखने वाले पॉलिमर से बंद करने का नये सिरे से प्रयास कर रहें हैं।

 लीबिया में विद्रोहियों ने आज तेल सम्पदा से मालामाल शहर ब्रेगा की ओर कूच किया, जबकि गद्दाफी की सेना ने मिस्राता पर फिर कब्ज+ा कर लिया है। देश के विभिन्न नगरों में सरकारी सेना और नागरिकों के  बीच संघर्ष में कम से कम पचास लोग मारे गये हैं जिनमें विद्रोही भी शामिल हैं। विद्रोहियों के प्रवक्ता ने बताया है कि देश के पश्चिमी भाग में गद्दाफी की सेना ने मिस्राता की विद्रोही चौकी पर टैंकों और तोपों से हमला किया। बेनगाज+ी से भारी हथियारों से लैस विद्रोही सैनिक दक्षिण में अजदाबिया की ओर बढ़ रहे हैं। त्रिपोली में गद्दाफी के निवास के आसपास भारी गोलीबारी की खबर है। आसपास के निवासियों का कहना है कि छतों पर निशानेबाज+ तैनात हैं और संघर्ष की ख़बरें मिल रही हैं।
 इस बीच नेटो की निग़रानी में पश्चिमी देशों की सेना के अभियान में रेगिस्तानी आंधी के कारण बाधा पड़ी।  बृहस्पतिवार से ही पश्चिमी देशों की सेना का कमान नेटो कर रहा है।

   बैंकांक में आज से जलवायु परिवर्तन पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र की बैठक शुरू हो रही है। बैठक में १७५ देशों के २ हजार २७१ प्रतिनिधि भाग ले रहे है जिसमे एक हजार ४१७ सरकारी अधिकारी है।

 संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून ने अफगानिस्तान में शुक्रवार को मजारे शरीफ शहर में संयुक्त राष्ट्र सहायता मिशन के कार्यालय पर हमले में पांच नेपाली सुरक्षाकर्मियों के मारे जाने पर दुख व्यक्त किया है। नेपाल के प्रधानमंत्री झलनाथ खनाल को एक संदेश में श्री मून ने इस हमले की आलोचना की और मारे गये लोगों के परिजनों के प्रति संवेदना जताई। नेपाल के प्रधानमंत्री ने भी इस घटना पर दुख व्यक्त किया है।

India erupted into euphoric celebrations after their historic win against Sri Lanka in the World Cup final last night. As captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit the winning runs off Nuwan Kulasekara with a six, it was a dream come true for the Indian team who had worked hard to achieve the feat.  As the ball flew over the boundary, emotional and poignant scenes unfolded at the renovated Wankhede stadium with the players hugging each other and picking up the stumps as souvenir to cherish the unforgettable moment. The night sky over the Wankhede stadium lit up with breathtaking fireworks as the Indians then took another lap of honour holding aloft the trophy and again the crowd cheered them lustily. AIR Mumbai correspondent reports that  almost in every part of the city, people came out of their homes to celebrate the moment of glory together.

The first official engagement of the Indian team after winning the world cup would be a tea party with the Indian President. President Pratibha Patil who is currently in Mumbai has invited the team India for a tea party at the Raj Bhawan where she would personally congratulate each and every team member on their mammoth achievement. Honouring the invitation, Team India would be reaching Raj Bhawan today evening at around 4.30 pm. The President took a special interest in yesterday’s match as she sat through the entire period cheering the Indian team at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Meanwhile, the whole city of Mumbai erupted in joy to celebrate the victory of the coveted title. Sounds of fireworks and musical instruments like dhol, tashe reverberated throughout the city. Cricket lovers who watched the game at multiplexes and restaurants came to the streets after the victory. The entire scenario was a massive throng of screaming, flag-waving fans bursting with unconfined joy and relief. The historic Shivaji Park in South Mumbai witnessed jubilation at mid night by the locals. Mumbaikars thronged to the streets of Marine Drive, Colaba, Churchgate in South Mumbai. The cricket lovers in Karnataka celebrated the victory with enthusiasm. AIR Bengaluru correspondent reports that thousands of cricket fans came out on the streets and waved the tri-colour national flag.

Clothed in blue top, painting their faces with saffron, white and green, the cricket crazy multitude in Bangalore and other parts of Karnataka were euphoric with India winning the Cricket world cup. Celebrations went on the entire night in the popular hangouts like M.G. Road, Brigade Road and Commercial Street in the heart of Bangalore. Firecrackers lit the skies and thousands of people poured on to the streets across the state to share the exhilaration of India lifting the glittering world cup after a 28 year wait. Hundreds of youths chanting ‘India-India’ poured their heart out in appreciation of triumphant Indian Team. Their happiness knew no bounds as they cheered, waved national flag, whistled and shouted Jai Hind and sang Vande Mataram.

Cricket fans across Andhra Pradesh erupted in jubilation. It appeared as if the new year and Diwali celebrations were no match for the celebration of Team India's world cup victory.  The cricket fans, who marched on the streets, celebrated the moment in all conceivable ways. Holding the Indian flag aloft, they raised slogans like 'Hindustan zindabad’ and 'Chak de India'; burst crackers, hugged each other and  distributed sweets.

The dream came to life after Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni bludgeoned a straight field maximum, sparking euphoric celebrations in not only Wankhede but all over the country. It seemed as if Gods too descended in the grand finale of the ICC Cricket World Cup yesterday just to watch Team India celebrate the honor after 28 years with a winners-lap, which filled the cricket atmosphere with both tears and happiness. Thousands from the cricket-mad population danced on the happiness-filled streets of the national capital just to celebrate the triumph with fireworks, greetings and colours, which seemed like a blend of all the festivals which this diverse country proudly possesses. Jubilant cricket fans waving tri-colour flags in every nook and corner of Delhi and people of all ages having their faces tattooed with dazzling tri-colour reflected the country's passion and love to the game. The tears in the eyes of the, now World Champions, was a sight that no one would forget as the game of cricket was lifted to another level in a nation which breaths cricket, prays cricket and can die for cricket.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi also came out on the street of Delhi and joined thousands of ecstatic fans in celebrating India's World Cup cricket triumph. She came out of her vehicle near the busy ITO crossing at 11pm and waved the national flag. She shook hands with the fans and  displayed Victory and thumbs-up signs, drawing lusty cheers from the crowd around.  Thousands of Indians across the Gulf region watched with bated breath as team India closed in on the Sri Lankan total in the World Cup final. As soon as India captain Dhoni sent the winning stroke soaring into the crowds, scores of them leapt in joy, hugging and congratulating each other. Several of them got out to celebrate in the streets. Indians in the Saudi cities of Riyadh and Jeddah, and in Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait also spent the large part of the match gathered at community centers and other big halls to enjoy the match. An IT professional who went out with a group of friends to watch the match at an auditorium, said, this not only brings joy but also a sense of belief that as a nation we can achieve anything.

Earlier, India ed a glorious new chapter in their cricketing history last night by regaining the coveted Cricket World Cup after 28 years. In a nerve-wrecking summit clash of the 2011 edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, they beat Sri Lanka by an emphatic margin of six wickets. Triumphant Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that they had set their eyes on the coveted goal a couple of years ago and wanted to keep key players fit and in form. Dhoni was addressing a post-match press conference in Mumbai last night.

The last one month we have done really well ; spent time on the field together , spent time in the dressing room. I think it is  a memorable 30-35 odd days that we have spent together and this was the goal that we wanted to achieve and each and every individual gave his 100 per cent.

An emotional Sachin Tendulkar admitted that it was the proudest day of his life. Tendulkar who did a lap of honour on the  shoulders of his teammates said that there were tears in his eyes once Dhoni hit that six.

Couldn't have asked for anything better than this: I think wining the world cup is the ultimate thing and I am experiencing it. It is the proudest moment of my life. Thanks to all my teammates without  such fabulous  performance and such consistency it would never have happened.

After playing a major role in India's World Cup title triumph, Yuvraj Singh revealed that he wanted to win the title for Sachin Tendulkar.

The President, Vice President and Prime Minister led the nation in hailing the Indian cricket team's World Cup triumph. In a message to Captain MS Dhoni, President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil said the road to success has been long and hard and Indian side was tested at every stage. Vice President Hamid Ansari said that this  victory will go down as one of the most memorable events of Indian sport. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, the team has shown the world that India is at the top of the game of cricket. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said the victory of the Indian team will be etched in gold for generations to come. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said it is reflective of their steely determination and hard work that India has been crowned with the World Cup. Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said the cricket team has done the country proud. Senior BJP leader L K Advani said that he regards it as a wonderful day and a wonderful occasion for the nation. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said he is very happy that India has become the world champions again.  Defence Minister Mr. A.K.Anthony congratulated Indian cricket team and captain M.S.Dhoni on winning the world cup title. He was speaking to News Men at Kozhikode in Kerala today. Mr.Anthony also said that India always wanted good relations with China and Pakistan.Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the win as a stunning victory. Governors and Chief Minister's of different states congratulated team India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI has announced cash reward worth one crore rupees for each player of the Indian team. Cricket coach Gary Kirsten and other support staff will get 50 lakh rupees each as reward for their contribution, while the selectors will be given 25 lakh rupees each. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today announced an award of  two crore rupees for Indian cricket team captain M S Dhoni and one crore rupees each for four Delhi players after their historic victory in the World Cup. Ms Dikshit said Indian captain M S Dhoni will be awarded 2 crore rupees for his commendable performance. She also said  one crore rupees will be given each to Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli and Ashish Nehra for winning the coveted World Cup.

British media lauds Dhoni's leadership in India's World Cup triumph. One of the several headlines in the media read, Masterly Dhoni brings joy to the whole of India. It  gave a collective round of applause to the Indian team for ending its 28-year-old wait to lift a second World Cup title. The press was full of praise for Dhoni, who led from the front with a 91-run knock, to guide India home while chasing a stiff 275 for victory. The Observer' commented, the epitome of new India dominated the World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka. According to the 'Sunday Times', the way Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, M S Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh batted showed a self-assurance that had not been so evident when collapsing against England, South Africa and West Indies in the group stage.The 'Sunday Telegraph' said, "India owed their second World Cup to their magnificent batsmen.

In Assam, highest ever security blanket has been provided in the state to ensure free and fair polling in the first phase of Assembly election. Polling in 62 constituencies in 13 districts including Barak Valley, Upper Assam and two hill districts will be held tomorrow.  Campaigning for these segments ends today. The voting will begin at 7 a.m. and continue till 3 p.m. Quoting top security officials, AIR correspondent reports that though all the major militant outfits in the state have headed for peace talks, the threats from splinter groups are still there.

Over 46000 armed personnel have been deployed in the state. Apart from these men on the ground, helicopters will be on surveillance in the sensitive areas.The maximum concentration of security forces would be at three critical constituencies Hailakandi, Haflong and Kokrajhar West. For the first time SMS-based poll monitoring system would be implemented, through which the state Election Commission would be informed about activities in polling stations. In the first phase, 1,350 booths are being covered by cameras, both video and still.Out of 11,264 stations 2,093 have been declared 'hyper-sensitive' and 2,985 'sensitive'. Besides, 817 villages had been identified as 'vulnerable'.The bordering areas of Cachar district with Bangldesh and Mizoram has already been sealed.

In Kerala, with just ten days left for the assembly elections several state and national leaders of major political parties are criss crossing the state to further step up poll campaigning. While, BJP leader Arun Jaitley is reaching Thiruvananthapuram today Congress leader and Civil aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi is already campaigning in the district.

Like other states corruption and fast escalating prices of essential items are some of the major issues in Kerala poll. Interestingly both CPIM led LDF and Congress led UDF blame each other on the above issues. While Congress promises fast track development of the state, CPIM offers to carry on with social security measures. BPJ, in its intense effort to open account in Kerala promises to be a constructive opposition. Meanwhile, thanks to strict implementation of code of conduct by election commission, poll campaigning is peaceful and less nosiy . At the same, unlike the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu, in Kerala popular film stars are neither contesting nor into active campaigning for any political party.

Electioneering is on for the 14th assembly elections in Tamilnadu. Candidates from different parties are reiterating promises and freebies to woo the voters for the April 13th elections. AIADMK president Jayalalitha is also on tour of the southern districts including sivakasi today.      

Yesterday the whole country celibates Indias cricket world cup title with crackers certainly most of them manufactured at sivakasi. But another face of sivakasi is printing activities made this area one of the biggest printing hub. According to sivakasi masters printers association more than four hundred printing press are based in sivakasi. Earlier in elections it was high time for these presses to print and supply lakhs of posters during election time . Most of these election posters were printed in sivakasi. Many negihboiuring states also gave orders during election time. But since the strict instructions from election commission the posters, banners and wall graffiti are now vanished from election scence.

Industrialist Ratan Tata and corporate lobbyist Niira Radia are likely to appear before Parliament's Public Accounts Committee tomorrow in connection with the alleged irregularities in the allocation of 2G spectrum. Radia, whose tapped phone conversations with politicians, corporates, bureaucrats, and journalists, form a key part of investigations into the 2G spectrum scam, will appear before the panel headed by senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi. The panel is expected to quiz Radia on the tapped conversations which include allegations of trying to influence portfolio allocation to ministers in UPA-II government.

The Rajasthan Government has signed a MOU with IRCON, a company of Indian Railway, for construction of 26 Road Over Bridges over railway lines in the state. Mou was signed by MD of IRCON and Urban development secretary of the state G S Sandhu at Jaipur. AIR Correspondent reports that nearly nine hundred crore rupees will be spent on these bridges and the work will be completed in 30 months.

This is for the first time when Railway approved ROBs in this number in a single state.on the total 26 bridges 22 will be constructed on the basis of cost sharing with the state govt.Railway will spend 268 Cr. Rs while the state govt will spend 199Cr. Rs. for construction of these ROBs.Local bodies like municipal councils and urban development trusts would also generate funds for this work.5 of these ROBs would be constructed in Jaipur,6 in Jodhpur and remaining in other parts of the state.IRCON will complete this work within 2 years of the land allotment .14 ROBs will be of 4 and 12 of 2 lanes.

In Jammu and Kashmir, a militant hideout was busted by the security forces in Reasi district and a huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered. Defence officials said today, in a joint operation, troops of Counter Insurgency Force  and J&K Police busted a natural cave hideout near Nala in the vicinity of Malhas village last night. The recovered cache of arms hidden by terrorists were very potent, lethal and capable of causing lot of damage to life and property.

In Gujarat, a  large  number of people from both the Hindu and Muslim communities are on a foot march to Hajipir Dargah  in bordering district of Kutch. AIR Bhuj Correspondent reports, in the scorching heat, men, women and children were seen marching towards Hajipir Dargah which is located on Indo-Pak border.  Several social organizations set up free food stalls for the foot marchers  who are going to participate in the anuual Urs at Hajipir Dargah.

Japan's fight against its nuclear crisis suffered another setback today after efforts to cement a cracked concrete pit at a crippled nuclear reactor failed. The nuclear complex has been spewing radioactivity since the 11th of March, when a mega earthquake and ensuing tsunami knocked out power, disabling its cooling systems and allowing radiation to spill from the overheating reactors. Yesterday, crippled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant was found to have been discharging highly radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean. Later in the day, Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) said it had found a crack in the pit at its No.2 reactor, which they believed was the source of the contaminated water. Soon after the discovery, the plant's operator started filling the pit with cement to seal the crack and prevent more contaminated water from seeping into the ocean. However, after pouring concrete into the pit with a 20-centimeter crack, workers found the crack was still discharging heavy doses of radiation, which was over 4,000 times the legal limit. After the failed attempt, TEPCO's engineers are struggling to devise new tactics such as using water-absorbent polymer to prevent further leakage of contaminated water into the sea.

In Libya, rebel forces today stormed towards Brega, the strategic oil city, while Gadaffi’s army re-entered Misrata. At least 50 people including rebels, government troops and civilians have been killed in fresh clashes in different cities. The rebels moved heavier weapons and a top commander towards Brega, seeking to break a stalemate against Muammar Gaddafi’s better-equipped army. Brega has been taken and retaken by insurgents and Gaddafi’s forces in recent weeks. Warplanes flew over Brega, followed by heavy bombardment. A rebel spokesman said in the western part of the country, Gaddafi’s forces stormed the rebel outpost of Misrata with tanks and artillery. Heavily-armed rebels were also moving from Benghazi towards Ajdabiyah to the south. The rebels swore that their capital Benghazi was secure and there was no risk of Gaddafi’s forces retaking it. In Tripoli heavy gunfire rang out near Gaddafi’s compound for about 20 minutes before dawn and residents said they saw snipers on rooftops and heard distant chanting or shouting. Meanwhile, the bombing campaign by Western-led forces, co-ordinated by NATO since Thursday, was hampered by sandstorms and fears of civilian casualties. NATO took over air strikes as well as enforcement of the UN-mandated no-fly zone and arms embargo, replacing a coalition led by the United States, France and Britain. NATO officials said sandstorms had an impact on initial operations, limiting the alliance's ability to identify air strike targets.

United Nations meeting on climate change kicked off today in Bangkok. The six-day meeting will discuss action plans following decisions made at a ministerial meeting in Mexico last year. Pre-sessional workshops will continue from today to Tuesday morning before the official opening taking place on Tuesday afternoon. According to a UN official, a  total of 2,271 representatives from 175 countries are attending the Bangkok meeting, of which 1,417 are government officials.
