 तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री एम० करूणानिधि की पुत्री और डीएमके सांसद कनीमोढ़ी टू जी स्पेक्ट्रम मामले में आज दिल्ली की एक अदालत में पेश हुई। कनिमोढ़ी के साथ मामले में दूसरे आरोपी कलाइंगार टेलीविजन के प्रबन्ध निदेशक शरद कुमार भी अदालत में पेश हुए। तीसरे आरोपी सिनेयुग फिल्म्‌स के निदेशक करीम मोरानी स्वास्थ्य कारणों से अदालत में हाजिर नहीं हुए।
 कनीमोढ़ी के साथ डी एम के सांसद टी० आर० बालू सहित पार्टी के कई नेता मौजूद थे। अदालत की कार्रवाई शुरू होने के तुरन्त बाद वरिष्ठ वकील राम जेठमलानी ने घोटाले में कनीमोढ़ी की भूमिका न होने की दलील देते हुए उनकी जमानत की अर्जी दी।

 सरकार और एयर इंडिया के पायलटों, दोनों को हड़ताल जल्द खत्म ेहोने की उम्मीद है । हमारे संवाददाता ने सरकार और भारतीय वाणिज्यिक पायलट संघ के हवाले से खबर दी है कि आज दोपहर बाद आगे वार्ता होगी, जिसमें कुछ पेचीदे मुद्दे सुलझाने की कोशिश की जाएगी। कल भी महत्वपूर्ण मुद्दों पर विस्तार के साथ चर्चा हुई थी, लेकिन कोई नतीजा नतीजा नहीं निकला था।  एयरइंडिया के प्रवक्ता ने आज सुबह हमारे संवाददाता को बताया कि महानगरों और एयरइंडिया की सहायक कम्पनी एलायन्स एयर के रास्तों पर कुछ और उड़ाने बहाल कर दी गई हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि आज दिल्ली से २० प्रतिशत घरेलू उड़ानें चलेंगी। कल दिल्ली से केवल १० प्रतिशत उड़ानें ही हो सकी थी। आज हड़ताल का १०वां दिन है। कल, एयर इंडिया की केवल ३२ घरेलू उड़ानें हुई थी। हमारे ंसवाददाता ने बताया है कि पायलटों की हड़ताल से यात्रियों को काफी परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ रहा है और  एयरइंडिया को राजस्व का नुकसान हो रहा है।

 प्रधानमंत्री डॉ० मनमोहन सिंह, कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष श्रीमती सोनिया गांधी, केन्द्रीय गृह मंत्री पी. चिदम्बरम और सांसद नवीन जिंदल ने हैलिकॉप्टर दुर्घटना में मारे गए अरूणाचल प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री दोरजी खांडू को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की। ये नेता दिल्ली से एक विशेष विमान से ईटानगर पहुंचे। जहां से वे भारतीय वायुसेना के हैलिकॉप्टर से राजभवन गए। बाद में डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह, श्रीमती सोनिया गांधी और श्री चिदम्बरम सीधे श्री दोरजी खांडू के सरकारी आवास पर पहुंचे। श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करने के बाद इन नेताओंने श्री दोरजी खांडू के परिजनों से मुलाकात की। ये नेता बीस मिनट तक वहां रहे। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया कि श्री खांडू के आवास पर आयोजित श्रद्धाजलि सभा में अन्य  नेता भी शामिल हुये।

 मुख्यमंत्री आवास पर आयोजित श्रद्धाजंलि कार्यक्रम के दौरान केन्द्रीय मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद, वी.नारायण स्वामी, मुकुल वासनिक,   विनसेंट पाला, राज्यपाल जे.जे.सिंह, प्रेस के सांसद टाकम संजय और निनोंग इरिंग राज्य के मंत्री और विधायकों समेत कई गणमान्य लोग मौजूद थे। दिवगंत मुख्यमंत्री के पार्थिव शरीर बाद में सेना के वाहन द्वारा राजभवन हैलीपैड लाया गया। इस दौरान राजधानी क्षेत्र के हजारों लोगों ने अपने दिवंगत नेता को अंतिम विदाई दी। राजधानी में उनकी इस अंतिम यात्रा के दौरान पूरा माहौल गमगीन हो गया। इधर राजकीय शोक के दूसरे दिन आज भी राजधानी में सभी सरकारी कार्यालय, व्यवहारिक प्रतिष्ठान और दुकानें बंद रही। नव नियुक्त मुख्यमंत्री श्री जारबोम गामलिन ने लोगों को भरोसा दिलाया है कि वे दिवंगत मुख्यमंत्री के अधूरे कामों को अंजाम तक ले जाने का भरसक प्रयास करेंगे। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए ईटानगर से मैं मुरारी गुप्ता।
 बाद में श्री खांडू के पार्थिव शरीर को भारतीय वायुसेना के हैलिकॉप्टर से उनके पैतृक स्थान तवांग के लिए रवाना किया गया, जहां उनका अंतिम संस्कार पूरे राजकीय सममान के साथ बुधवार को होगा।

 सरकार ने आज सांसदों को शारीरिक रूप से अक्षम लोगों की सहायता के लिए उनके सांसद स्थानीय क्षेत्र विकास कोष से दस लाख रूपए तक की राशि हर वर्ष खर्च करने की मंजूरी दी। सांख्यिकी और कार्यक्रम क्रियान्वयन मंत्री डॉ एम एस गिल ने नई दिल्ली में कहा कि सरकार सांसद कोष के समय पर और लाभकारी इस्तेमाल के लिए तुरंत कदम उठाने की इच्छुक है। उन्होंने कहा कि शारीरिक रूप से विकलांग लोगों की सहायता के लिए कई अनुरोध मिलने के बाद यह फैसला किया गया है। डॉ गिल ने कहा कि इस कोष का सही इस्तेमाल सुनिश्चित करने के लिए यह सहायता विक्लांगों के इस्तेमाल में आने वाली तिपहिया साइकिलें और कृत्रिम अंग खरीदने के लिए ही दी जाएगी। सरकार ने हाल में सांसदों के इस कोष की राशि दो करोड़ रूपए से बढ़ाकर पांच करोड़ रूपए करने का फैसला किया था।

 उत्तर प्रदेश में औरैया जिले में २००८ में लोक निर्माण विभाग के इंजीनियर मनोज कुमार गुप्ता की हत्या के मामले में लखनऊ के एक सत्र न्यायालय ने सत्तारूढ बहुजन समाज पार्टी के विधायक शेखर तिवारी और उनके ९ साथियों को उम्रकैद की सजा सुनाई है। विशेष अतिरिक्त जिला सत्र न्यायाधीश वीरेन्द्र कुमार ने विधायक की पत्नी विभा तिवारी को भी सबूतों को खत्म करने के आरोप में ढाई साल की सजा सुनाई। न्यायालय ने सभी १० आरोपियों पर ६८ - ६८ हजार रूपये और विभा तिवारी पर साढ़े चार हजार रूपये का जुर्माना भी किया । हमारे लखनऊ संवाददाता ने बताया है कि मुख्यमंत्री सुश्री मायावती के जन्मदिन पर चन्दा देने से मना करने पर इंजीनियर श्री गुप्ता को दिसम्बर २००८ में औरैया में उनके निवास पर विधायक शेखर तिवारी और उनके साथियों द्वारा पीट पीट कर मार डाला गया था।  श्री गुप्ता की पत्नी शशि गुप्ता ने औरैया में दिबियापुर पुलिस थाने में मामले की एफ आई आर दर्ज कराई थी।

 उच्चतम न्यायालय ने शेयर दलाल हर्षद मेहता की मुंबई और महाराष्ट्र की एक हजार करोड़ से भी ज्यादा की संपत्ति को जब्त करने के सरकार के आदेश को बरकरार रखा है। न्यायमूर्ति पी. सदाशिवम और न्यायमूर्ति बी.एस. चौहान की खण्डपीठ ने सरकार की इस बात को सही माना कि हर्षद मेहता की संपत्ति का सम्बन्ध उसके बेनामी सौदों से है। आज से करीब दस साल पहले हर्षद मेहता  शेयर बाजार घोटाले को लेकर काफी चर्चित हुआ था। शीर्ष अदालत नें हर्षद मेहता की पत्नी ज्योती और दो पुत्रियों की ओर से दायर उस याचिका को खारिज कर दिया, जिसमें उन्होंने कहा था कि इस संपत्ति का सम्बन्ध बेनामी सौदा से नहीं है।

 पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा चुनाव के कल होने जा रहे पांचवे दौर के मतदान को स्वतंत्र, निष्पक्ष और शान्तिपूर्ण ढंग से कराने के लिए सुरक्षा के अभूतपूर्व इंतजाम किये गये हैं।  इस चरण में पश्चिम मेदनीपुर, बांकुड़ा, पुरूलिया और बर्दवान जिले के कुछ हिस्सों की फैली ३८ सीटों के लिए वोट डाले जायेंगे।  ७४ लाख, १७ हजार,  सात सौ से अधिक मतदाता १९३ उम्मीदवारों के राज्यनीतिक भाग्य का  फैसला करेंगे। चार जिलों में ९ हजार, चार सौ से ज्यादा मतदान केंद्र बनाए गए हैं। निर्वाचन आयोग द्वारा नियुक्त  विशेष प्रेक्षक श्री देवाशीष चक्रवर्ती ने कल पश्चिमी मेदिनीपुर जिले में चुनाव तैयारियों का जायज+ा लिया। वे माओवाद प्रभावित इलाकों के जिला प्रशासन के साथ लगातार सम्पर्क में हैं।     २० सामान्य, ७ व्यय और चार पुलिस प्रेक्षक स्थिति पर लगातार नजर रखे हुए हैं। 

कल के मतदान के पूर्व नक्सलवाद प्रभावित पश्चिमी मेदनीपुर, पुरूलिया और बांकुड़ा जिलों को एक किले में तबदील कर दिया गया है। तीन हेलीकॉप्टरों जिसमें एक का इस्तेमाल एम्बुलेंस के रूप में किया जायेगा, इसलिये हवाई निगरानी रखी जा रही है। इसके अलावा १९ बम निरोधक दस्तों समेत  इस चरण में सबसे अधिक सात सौ पचास केन्द्रीय बल की कंपनियां तैनात रहेगी। हालांकि उससे पहले के चार चरणों में चुनाव आयोग की सबसे बड़ी चुनौती निष्पक्ष मतदान कराने की थी। पर इस बार वोटरों की सुरक्षा भी एक अहम मुद्दा है। राजनीतिक व्यवस्था से निपटने के लिए एहतियाती तौर पर बड़ी संख्या में निषेधात्मक गिरफ्तारियां की जा रही है। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए पुरूलिया से मैं शंभूनाथ चौधरी।

 पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री बुद्धदेव भट्टाचार्य ने निर्वाचन आयोग से कहा है कि विधानसभा चुनाव में तृणमूल कांग्रेस द्वारा कथित रूप से काले धन के इस्तेमाल के मामले पर वह असरदार कदम उठाए। कोलकाता में संवाददाता सम्मेलन में उन्होंने राज्य में चुनाव आचार संहिता ठीक ढंग से लागू होने पर संतोष व्यक्त किया। मुख्यमंत्री ने नक्सल प्रभावित जंगल महाल इलाके के मतदाताओं से निर्भय होकर वोट डालने के अपील की। इस इलाके में छठे चरण में १० मई को वोट डाले जाएंगे।

 आंध्र प्रदेश में काडप्पा लोकसभा सीट और पुलीवेंदुला विधानसभा सीट पर उपचुनाव के लिए प्रचार आज शाम समाप्त हो जाएगा। मतदान रविवार को होगा। राज्य के मुख्य चुनाव अधिकारी भंवर लाल ने कडप्पा में प्रचार कर रहे मंत्रियों सहित सभी बाहर के लोगों से आज शाम पांच बजे तक वहां से चले जाने को कहा है।
 कडप्पा लोकसभा सीट पर ४२ उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में हैं जबकि पुलीवेंदुला में २५ उम्मीदवार चुनाव लड़ रहे हैं। एक हजार पांच सौ १२ मतदान केन्द्र बनाए गए हैं जिनमें दो सौ से अधिक को अतिसंवेदनशील और पांच सौ मतदान केन्द्रों को संवेदनशील के रूप में पहचान की गई है। सुरक्षा के कड़े प्रबंध किए गए है।

 बिहार में पंचायत चुनाव के छठे चरण में कड़ी सुरक्षा के बीच शान्तिपूर्ण मतदान जारी है। इस चरण में ५८ ब्लॉकों की ९०६ ग्राम पंचायतों के लिए वोट डाले जा रहे हैं। मतदान शाम पांच बजे तक जारी रहेगा लेकिन नक्सल प्रभावित इलाकों में ३ बजे तक ही वोट डाले जा सकेंगे। हमारे पटना संवाददाता ने बताया है कि कड़ी धूप के बावजूद बड़ी संख्या में मतदाता वोट डालने आ रहे हैं। औरंगाबाद में फर्जी मतदान की कोशिश कर रहे लोगों पर पुलिस ने गोलियां चलाई। घटना में कोई घायल नहीं हुआ है और स्थिति नियंत्रण में है। मतदान के दौरान ४०० से ज्यादा लोगों को एहतियात के तौर पर हिरासत में लिया गया है। इन लोगों के पास से ७७ हजार से ज्यादा रूपये बरामद किये गये।  इस चरण में ५१ लाख, ४२ हजार से ज्यादा मतदाता  ९१ हजार,  ३०७ उम्मीदवारों के राजनीतिक भविष्य का फैसला करेंगे। पंचायत चुनाव में अभी चार चरणों में और मतदान होना है।

 जम्मू डिविजन में आज दो अलग-अलग दुर्घटनाओं में नौ व्यक्ति मारे गए और पांच गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए। रियासी जिले में माहौर से २० किलोमीटर दूर १२ लोगों को ले जा रहा एक टेम्पो, फिसलकर गहरे नाले में गिर गया, जिसमें आठ लोगों की घटनास्थल पर ही मृत्यु हो गई। यह टेम्पो राजौरी जिले में धार्मिक स्थान शाहदरा शरीफ से गूल रामबन जा रहा था। मृतकों की संख्या बढ़ने की आशंका है, क्योंकि घायलों में कुछ लोगों की हालत बहुत गंभीर है।
 उधर, जम्मू-श्रीनगर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर रामबन में जयसवाल ब्रिज के पास एक कार और ट्रक की टक्कर में एक व्यक्ति की मृत्यु हो गई। ट्रक सड़क से फिसलकर डेढ़ सौ फीट गहरी खाई में जा गिरा। ट्रक ड्राइवर को गंभीर चोटे आई हैं।

पाकिस्तान में बलूचिस्तान सूबे में क्वेटा में आज सुबह शिया समुदाय के लोगों पर अज्ञात हमलावरों द्वारा की गई गोलीबारी में पांच लोगों की मौत हो गई और १५ लोग घायल हो गये। चश्मदीद गवाहों के मुताबिक हमलावर दो कारों में आये थे। अभी तक किसी गुट ने हमले की जिम्मेदारी नहीं ली है।

इंडोनेशिया में आज पूर्वी इलाकों में ६ दशमलव एक तीव्रता का भूकम्प आया। इंडोनेशिया के मौसम विभाग के अनुसार भूकम्प का केन्द्र उत्तरी सुलावेसी तट से ७५ किलोमीटर दूर समुद्र में ३५ किलोमीटर की गहराई में था। भूकम्प से किसी प्रकार के जानमाल के नुकसान की फिलहाल कोई खबर नहीं है।

 भारत और दक्षिण कोरिया ने इंजीनियरिंग और चिकित्सा विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में अनुसंधान को बढ़ावा देने के लिए, उच्च शिक्षा कार्यक्रमों की घोषणा की है। सोल में कल भारत-दक्षिण कोरिया विज्ञान और टेक्नोलॉजी मंत्रिस्तरीय संचालन समिति की बैठक में यह फैसला किया गया। इसकी सह-अध्यक्षता विज्ञान और टेक्नोलॉजी मंत्री पवन कुमार बंसल ने की। श्री बंसल और दक्षिण कोरिया के विज्ञान और टेक्नोलॉजी मंत्री जू-हो-ई ने संयुक्त अनुसंधान को बढ़ाव देने के लिए भारत-कोरिया विज्ञान और टेक्नोलॉजी अनुसंधान प्रतियोगिता की शुरू करने की घोषणा की। इस तरह का पहला कार्यक्रम अगले वर्ष भारत में आयोजित किया जाएगा।
 भारत और दक्षिण कोरिया इंजीनियरी और चिकित्सा विज्ञान में स्नातकोत्तर विद्यार्थियों, शोध विद्यार्थियों, प्रफेसरों और वैज्ञानिकों के लिए नौ क्षेत्रों में विशेष अनुसंधान पर सहमत हुए। यह अनुसंधान कार्यक्रम इस वर्ष के उत्तरार्ध में शुरू होंगे।

 नेपाल के उप प्रधानमंत्री और विदेश मंत्री उपेन्द्र यादव ने कहा है कि वे नेपाल की जमीन से किसी भी भारत विरोधी गतिविधि की इजाजत नहीं देंगे। काठमाण्डु में कल शाम एक कार्यक्रम में उन्होंने कहा कि राजनयिक तौर तरीकों का पूरा ध्यान रखा जायेगा। श्री यादव ने भारत के साथ नेपाल के सम्बन्धों को विशेष और बहुआयामी बताया। उन्होंने कहा कि नेपाल की जमीन का इस्तेमाल किसी भी पड़ोसी देश के खिलाफ गतिविधियां चलाने में नहीं किया जायेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि देश की शान्ति, स्थिरता और सम्पन्नता के लिए पड़ोसी देशों से बेहतर सम्बन्ध होना जरूरी है।

 साइबर अपराधी भारत सहित विश्व के बड़े व्यापार संगठनों के कारोबारी राज+ को अपना निशाना बना रहे हैं। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार अपराधियों को किसी संगठन के कारोबारी राज+ उसके प्रतिद्धंद्वियों और विदेशी सरकारों को बेचने में भारी मुनाफा दिखता है। यह रिपोर्ट साइबर सुरक्षा टेक्नोलॉजी कंपनी मैक्केफी और अमरीका के साइंस एप्लीकेशन इंटरनेशनल कॉर्पोरेशन ने तैयार की है।
 सर्वेक्षण में भारत अमरीका, ब्रिटेन, जापान, चीन, ब्राजील और पश्चिम एशिया के एक हजार से ज्यादा वरिष्ठ प्रौद्योगिकी विशेषज्ञों ने भाग लिया। भारत के विभिन्न संगठनों के  २९ प्रतिशत प्रतिनिधियों ने कहा कि उनकी आईटी सुरक्षा में सेंध लगाई गई, जबकि ३२ प्रतिशत का कहना था कि उन्हें इस समस्या से कभी कभार दो-चार होना पड़ा।   ११ प्रतिशत का कहना था कि कारोबारी राज+ चुराए जाने से उन्हें पांच लाख डॉलर तक का नुकसान हुआ। २७ प्रतिशत का मानना था कि संवेदनशील जानकारी या बौद्धिक संपदा की चोरी से उन्हें पांच लाख से दस लाख डॉलर तक का नुकसान हुआ।

 भारतीय नौसेना और तटरक्षक बल ने अरब सागर में एक विदेशी व्यापारिक जहाज पर सोमालिया के समुद्री लुटेरों की हमला नाकाम कर दिया है। नई दिल्ली में आज तटरक्षक बल के एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि इस जहाज में चालक दल के सदस्य चीन के थे। यह घटना कल हुई।
 नौसेना और तटरक्षक बल ने पिछले कुछ महीनों में सोमालिया के लुटेरों के कई हमलों को नाकाम किया है और एक सौ से अधिक समुद्री लुटेरों को पकड़ा जिनमें अधिकतर सोमालिया के हैं। इन लुटेरों को मुंबई पुलिस को सौंप दिया गया और ये अब विभिन्न जेलों में बंद हैं।
 २६ मार्च को नौसेना ने लक्षद्वीप के पश्चिम में सोमालिया के समुद्री लुटेरों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करके १६ लुटेरों को गिरफ्‌तार किया था और जहाज के १६ कर्मचारियों को बचाया था। १३ मार्च को एक अन्य घटना में अरब सागर में पश्चिमी तट से करीब छह सौ मील दूर भारतीय नौसेना ने सोमाली समुद्री लुटेरों का एक हमला विफल किया और उनके जहाज को पकड़ लिया। इस कार्रवाई में ६१ समुद्री लुटेरों को पकड़ा गया था।

 गुरूदेव रबिन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर के १५०वीं जयंती समरोहों का आज ढाका में उपराष्ट्रपति हामिद अंसारी और बांग्लादेश की प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना ने संयुक्त रूप से उद्घाटन किया। बंगबंधु इंटरनेशनल कॉन्फ्रेंस सेंटर में आयोजित उद्घाटन समारोह में उपराष्ट्रपति हामिद अंसारी ने कहा आज का यह समारोह दोनों देशों के इतिहास में अपनी तरह का पहला समारोह है। उन्होंने कहा कि रबिन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर दोनों देशों की साझी विरासत का प्रतीक थे जिसने दोनों देशों के बौद्धिक और सांस्कृतिक माहौल को प्रभावित किया। श्री अंसारी ने कहा कि गुरूदेव ने आम लोगों के कल्याण के लिए अथक प्रयास किए।
यहीं पर गुरूदेव रबिन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर आम जनता के करीब आए और उनके उत्थान के लिए हमेशा अथक प्रयास करते रहें। यह वही स्थान है, जहां पर उन्होंने शिक्षा, गांवों के पुनर्निर्माण और विकास के लिए काम किया । उन्होंने सामाजिक असमानता को दूर करने के लिए भी ठोस कदम उठाए ।
 श्री अंसारी ने कहा कि पिछले वर्ष बांग्लादेश की प्रधानमंत्री की भारत यात्रा से दोनों देशों के आपसी संबंधों को बढ़ाने की रूपरेखा तैयार हुई। उन्होंने बांग्लादेश के विकास कार्यों में सहयोग देने की भारत की वचनबद्धता दोहराई। बांग्लादेश की प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना ने दक्षिण एशियाई क्षेत्र से गरीबी दूर करने के लिए मिल जुलकर प्रयास करने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने इस अवसर पर चार विशेष डाक टिकट भी जारी किए। उन्होंने उपराष्ट्रपति को पद्मा नौका के चित्र भी भेंट किए। इस नौका में गुरूदेव रबिन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर ने बांग्लादेश में अपने प्रवास के दौरान कई साहित्यिक रचनाएं लिखी थीं।
 उद्घाटन समारोह में भारत और बांग्लादेश के कलाकारों और विशेषज्ञों ने सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम पेश किए। उद्घाटन समारोह के तुरंत बाद श्री अंसारी विशेष विमान से नई दिल्ली रवाना हो गए। हवाई अड्डे पर बांग्लादेश के विदेश मंत्री डॉ दीपू मोनी ने उन्हें विदाई दी।
 नई दिल्ली में कार्यक्रमों का  शुभारंभ कल किया जाएगा। प्रधानमंत्री डॉ मनमोहन सिंह, राष्ट्रीय सलाहकार परिषद की अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी की मौजूदगी में इनका उद्घाटन करेंगे। वे इस अवसर पर रबिन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर की कहानियों पर आधारित फिल्मों के छह डीवीडी का सेट भी जारी करेंगे।
 भारत और बांग्लादेश ने पिछले वर्ष रबिन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर की १५०वीं जयंती भी संयुक्त रूप से मनाने का फैसला किया था।

       राजस्थान में आखा तीज के नाम से प्रसिद्ध अक्षय तृतीया का पर्व पारम्परिक उल्लास के साथ मनाया जा रहा है। इस दिन हजारों की संख्या में लोग वैवाहिक बंधन में बंधते हैं। राज्य सरकार ने अक्षय तृतीया पर बाल विवाहों की रोकथाम के लिए भी पुख्ता प्रबन्ध किये हैं। कई निजी संगठन और धर्मार्थ ट्रस्ट निशुल्क सामूहिक विवाह आयोजन कर रहे हैं। इससे बाल विवाह जैसी सामाजिक कुरीति पर अंकुश लगता है। हमारे संवाददाता  ने खबर दी है कि ंइस बार जयपुर में सामूहिक विवाहों का नया सिलसिला भी शुरू हुआ हैं।

इस दिन बिना कोई तिथि निकलवाए ही विवाह किए जा सकते हैं। इस बार राज्य में सामूहिक विवाहों का एक नया सिलसिला भी शुरू हुआ हैं। कोटा, जोधपुर, बारा, जयपुर और बाडमेर जैसे जिलों मे भी निःशुल्क सामूहिक विवाह संम्मेलनों का आयोजन किए जाने की खबरे मिल रही हैं। राज्य की महिला और बाल विकास तथा पुलिस की ओर से भी बाल विवाह की रोकथाम के लिए काफी सक्रियता बरती जा रही हैं और मोबाइल टीमें भी ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में लगातार दौरा कर इस बात की जानकारियां ले रही है कि कई गुपचुप तरीकें से बाल-विवाह न हो। अनुराग वाजपेयी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, जयपुर।

       मध्यप्रदेश में भी अक्षय तृतीया के मौके पर बाल विवाह रोकने के लिए विशेष चौकसी बरती जा रही है। हमारे भोपाल संवाददाता ने बताया है कि आज के दिन राज्य में बड़ी संख्या में विवाह समारोहों का आयोजन किया जाता है।

 बम्बई शेयर बाजार का संवेदी सूचकांक आज १५२ अंक की बढ़त के साथ खुला। फंडों और खुदरा निवेशकों ने सस्ते दाम पर शेयरों की जमकर लिवाली की।  अब से कुछ देर पहले यह ३०६ अंक बढ़कर १८ हजार ५१७ पर था। नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का निफ्‌टी भी८७ अंक बढ़कर ५ हजार ५४७ पर था।

 एशियाई बाजारों में तेल की कीमतों में कल की गिरावट के बाद आज वृद्धि दर्ज की गई। लाइट स्वीट खनिज तेल के दाम में ६८ सेंट की वृद्धि हुई और यह एक सौ डॉलर ४८ सेंट प्रति बैरल हो गया जबकि कल यह ९९ डॉलर ८० सेंट प्रति बैरल पर बंद हुआ था। ब्रेंट नॉर्थ सी तेल के दाम ८७ सेंट बढ़कर १११ डॉलर ६७ सेंट प्रति बैरल हो गए। कल इसमें दस डॉलर से अधिक की गिरावट आई थी।

 पाकिस्तान में एबटाबाद में जिस हवेली में अलकायदा सरगना ओसामा बिन लादेन को अमरीकी कमांडो ने मारा, उसे ढहा दिया जायेगा ताकि वह जेहादियों के लिए पवित्र इमारत न बन सके। पाकिस्तान मिलिट्री अकादमी से करीब आठ सौ गज की दूरी पर स्थित इस इमारत को अमरीकी कार्रवाई के बाद सील कर दिया गया है। सुरक्षा एजेन्सी सूत्रों के आधार पर न्यूज+ डेली में छपी खबर के हवाले से पी टी आई ने बताया है कि अभी यह पता नहीं चला है कि अधिकारियों ने इमारत में प्रैस को जाने की इजाजत दी है या नहीं। इस्लामाबाद में लाल मस्जिद से सटी एक अन्य इमारत जामिया हाफजा को भी सुरक्षा बलों ने २००७ में सैनिक कार्रवाई के बाद ढहा दिया था।

 भारत में तपेदिक यानी टीबी के मरीजों को निर्धारित खुराक की लगभग ६० प्रतिशत मात्रा ही दी जा रही है। जानकारों का मानना है कि देश में निजी क्षेत्र में टीबी के इलाज के लिए दवाओं की ७० प्रकार की खुराकें और मिश्रण प्रचलित हैं, जबकि इनमें से सिर्फ १४ आवश्यक हैं। एक चिकित्सा पत्रिका में प्रकाशित निजी टीबी दवा बाजार के बारे में एक अध्ययन के अनुसार देश में प्राइवेट डॉक्टरों से टीबी का इलाज करा रहे लोगों में टीबी दवा का प्रतिरोधी तंत्र विकसित होने का खतरा ज्यादा है, जिससे मरीजों पर टीबी की दवाओं का असर नहीं होता।
 ग्लोबल एलाइंस फॉर टीबी ड्रग डेवलपमेंट की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार देश में निजी क्षेत्र के ३५ प्रतिशत से ज्यादा इलाज राष्ट्रीय और अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय मानदण्डों के अनुरूप नहीं है। भारत में टीबी दवा का निजी बाजार सबसे बड़ा है और इससे २० लाख से ज्यादा मरीजों का इलाज होता है। राष्ट्रीय तपेदिक नियंत्रण कार्यक्रम २०११ की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार भारत में ७३ हजार मरीज ऐसे हैं, जिनमें टीबी दवा का प्रतिरोधक तंत्र विकसित हो गया हैं। इनमें से ७० प्रतिशत मरीजों की उम्र १५ से ५४ वर्ष के बीच है। दो तिहाई टीबी मरीज पुरूष हैं। ५० प्रतिशत से अधिक महिला मरीजों की उम्र ३४ साल से कम है। टीबी से महिलाओं की अधिक मृत्यु होती है।

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's daughter and DMK MP Kanimozhi today appeared before a special court in New Delhi in the 2G spectrum scam case. She moved a bail application in the court. 43-year-old Kanimozhi appeared along with Kalaignar TV Managing Director Sharad Kumar, another accused in the case. The third accused, Cineyug Films Director Karim Morani, who too had been summoned, however, sought exemption from appearance on medical grounds.Kanimozhi was accompanied to court by several party leaders, including DMK MP T R Baalu.Soon after the court proceedings began, senior advocate and former Union Law Minister Ram Jethmalani filed a bail plea on her behalf contending that she has no role in the scam.

Both the government and the pilots are hopeful of an early end to the Air India strike. Our correspondent quoting government and Indian Commercial Pilots Association spokesperson reports that the two sides will hold another round of talks later in the day to address some ticklish issues. The striking pilots and the government yesterday held detailed discussions on the issues raised by the pilots and the Air India management. But the talks remained inconclusive. An Air India spokesman told our correspondent this morning that more flights have started operating for Metro and the routes covered by its subsidiary Alliance Air. He said today 20 percent domestic flights will operate from Delhi. Yesterday only ten percent flights operated from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The strike entered the tenth day today. The services of the national airline were crippled yesterday with only 32 domestic flights operating. Our correspondent adds that the passengers continue to be affected by the strike with the cash strapped airline suffering huge losses.

The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and MP Naveen Jindal paid floral tributes to former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu at the Chief Minister’s residence in Itanagar today. Khandu was killed in a tragic chopper crash on Saturday. The three leaders air-dashed to Itanagar this morning and landed at the Raj Bhawan helipad where they were received by Arunachal Governor Gen Retd JJ Singh, Arunachal’s new Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin, state Congress president Nabam Tuki among others. They drove straight to the Chief Minister’s residence. After paying their last respects to Dorjee Khandu, the three leaders also met the late Chief Minister’s bereaved family members. Dr Manmohan Singh described Khandu as a great leader and an excellent human being. He said Arunachal Pradesh has achieved much under his leadership. After staying there for about 20 minutes, they left Itanagar for New Delhi. Afterwards, Khandu’s body made its last journey to his hometown Tawang in IAF helicopter. The last rites will be held at Tawang next Wednesday with full state honours. A report from our Correspondent:

Afterwards, the body of Khandu was taken to the Raj Bhawan helipad in an army vehicle. Melancholic scenes were witnessed as the large convoy made its way to the helipad from where it was taken to Tawang. People lined up the streets to bid their last farewell to their beloved Chief Minister. Meanwhile, all shops, business establishments, government offices have been shut down for the second consecutive day in mourning Dorjee Khandu. As the people try to come to terms with the loss, there is also an air of relieve that the new Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin will take them to the destination which Dorjee Khandu had shown them. Indian Navy and Coast Guard have foiled an attack by Somalian pirates on a foreign merchant vessel in the Arabian sea. A Coast Guard official said in New Delhi today that the vessel had Chinese crew members. The incident took place yesterday. Navy and Coast Guard have prevented a number of attacks by Somalians in the past few months and apprehended over a 100 pirates, mostly Somalians, and handed them over to Mumbai police.The pirates are lodged in various jails. On March 26, the Navy had apprehended 16 sea brigands and rescued 16 crew members after battling with the Somalian pirates West off the Lakshadweep Islands. In another incident on March 13th, the Indian Navy foiled a pirates' attack and apprehended a pirate mother ship rescuing 13 crew members and caught 61 Somali sea brigands about 600 nautical miles off the western coast in the Arabian Sea.

In Uttar Pradesh, ruling Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Shekhar Tiwari and his nine associates were sentenced to life imprisonment today by a sessions court at Lucknow for murdering Public Works Department engineer Manoj Kumar Gupta in Auraiya district in 2008.Special Additional District Judge Virendra Kumar also sentenced the MLA's wife, Vibha Tiwari, to two-and-a-half years imprisonment on charges of destroying evidences.The court has imposed a fine of 68,000 rupees each on all the 10 convicts besides slapping a fine of 4500 rupees on Vibha Tiwari. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that Gupta was beaten to death in December 2008 by Shekhar Tiwari and his associates, at his residence in Auraiya, after he refused to pay donations for the Chief Minister's birthday celebrations. An FIR in this regard was registered by the slain engineer's wife Shashi Gutpa at Dibiyapur police station in Auraiya.

The Supreme Court today upheld the attachment of over 1000 crore rupees worth of property belonging to stock broker and scamster Harshad Mehta in Mumbai and elsewhere in Maharashtra. A bench of justices P Sathasivam and B S Chauhan upheld the contention of the government that the properties needed to be attached as they were part of his various benami deals and transactions. Harshad Mehta gained notoriety over a decade ago following the infamous multi-crore rupee stock market scam. The apex court rejected the plea of Mehta's wife Jyoti and their two daughters that there was no illegality in the properties purchased by Mehta and were not part of the funds diverted from his ill-gotten wealth.

India and Korea have announced an exchange programme for students pursuing higher studies in engineering and medical sciences to enhance research capacity. The decision was taken at the first India-Korea Science and Technology Ministerial Steering Committee meeting in Seoul yesterday. An official release said the meeting co-chaired by Science and Technology Minister P K Bansal and his Korean counterpart Ju-Ho Lee also agreed to launch the 'India-Korea Great Innovation Science and Technology Challenge' to promote joint research. The first such contest will be organised in India next year. The exchange programme is expected to commence in the latter half of 2011.

New troops will replace the existing coveted presidential guards tomorrow. 15th Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Regiment shall handover the charge of Ceremonial Army Guard Battalion at Rashtrapati Bhavan to the 28th Battalion of the Madras Regiment. The Ceremony will be open to general public.The historic President's Body Guard is the senior most Regiment of the Indian Army and shall also take part in the Changing of Guard Ceremony. Raised in 1773 as the Governor General's Body Guard, this horsed cavalry unit is specifically tasked for ceremonial duties of the President. It is permanently located at the President's Estate. Troops of the President's Body Guard are expert horsemen, para-troopers and qualified tankmen.

In West Bengal, unprecedented security arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair polls in the 5th phase of Assembly elections tomorrow. Polling will take place in 38 seats covering parts of West Mednipur, Burdwan, Bankura and Purulia districts . Over 74 lakh, 17 thousand and 7 hundred electorate will decide the political fate of 193 candidates. More than 9,400 polling booths have been set-up in the four districts. Besides the police and para military forces, 19 anti landmine vehicles have been deployed in the poll bound areas. Election Commission Special Observer Devasish Chakraborty took stock of the situation of poll preparedness in West Medinapur district yesterday. He is constantly in touch with the district administration of Maoist infested areas. Besides 20 General, 7 Expenditure and 4 Police observers are constantly monitoring the situation. Our correspondent reports that Two helicopters have been kept ready for air surveillance during the polling and one for emergency medical aid.

 A day ahead of the crucial voting the election commission has turned the entire 3 left wing extremism affected districts into a fortress as the areas witnessed bloodshed in the last 2 years. While in the other phases the question was how to organize a free & fair election in this phase safety of the voters also assumeda prime concern. A number of preventive arrests have been made for the smooth conduct of the polls. Meanwhile, the West Bengal Chief Minister Bhudhadeb Bhattacharjee has asked the Election Commission to take effective steps against the alleged use of black money by the Trinamool Congress for assembly election campaign in the state. Addressing a press conference in Kolkata this afternoon, he expressed satisfaction over the role of the Commission on implementation of model code of conduct. Mr.Bhattacharjee appealed the voters of Jungle Mahal, which is going for poll in 6th phase on 10th of this month, to cast their franchise ignoring all threats from Maoists. The Chief Minister claimed that the Left-front government did a lot for the development of Adivasis at Jangal Mahal and assured further progress if voted to power.

In Bihar, amidst tight security arrangements the sixth phase of Panchayat elections in the state is progressing peacefully. Elections is being held at 906 Gram Panchayats in 58 blocks of the state. Polling will continue till 5 in the evening. In the Naxal affected areas, polling will end at 3 pm. AIR Patna correspondent reports that heavy turnout is reported despite scorching heat. There was no report of major incident of violence except a few skirmishes between rival groups in Siwan, Darbhanga, Nalanda and Siwan districts . In Aurangabad bogus voting attempt was foiled after police resorted to firing. No one was injured in this incident and the situation is under control. Over four hundred persons have been arrested as a preventive measures. About 77 thousand rupees were recovered from the possession of arrested persons. Over 51 lakh 42 thousand voters will today decide the fate of 91 thousand 307 candidates. The Panchayat elections will conclude on May 18 after the remaining four more phases. The seventh phase of elections will be held on the 9^{th of this month.}

In Andhra Pradesh, the campaigning will come to an end this evening for the by election being held for Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly Constituencies. The month-long electioneering will come to a close at 5 PM. The polling will be held between 8Am and 5 PM on Sunday. The by poll was necessitated in these constituencies following resignation of sitting members. State Chief Electoral officer Bhanwarlal has asked all outsiders, including Ministers staying in Kadapa for campaigning, to leave the area before 5 PM. He has directed the district authorities to strictly implement the orders to ensure fair and free polling. A ban also has been imposed on announcement of results of all types of poll surveys and publishing and telecasting of the same.

The 150th Birth anniversary celebrations of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore were jointly inaugurated today by Vice President Hamid Ansari and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheik Hasina in Dhaka. Addressing the inaugural function at the Banga Bandhu International Conference Centre, the Vice President said today's celebration was a momentous occasion and first of its kind in the history of the two nations. He said, Rabindranath Tagore represented the common heritage that has influenced the intellectual and cultural ethos of the two nations in an enduring and distinctive manner.

Mr.Ansari said that the Bangladesh prime Minister's visit to India last year laid the road map for enhanced bilateral relations. He reiterated India's commitment to address the developmental priorities of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheik Hasina stressed on the need for combined efforts in the South Asian region to eliminate poverty. She released four commemorative stamps on the occasion. She also presented the Vice President with the photographs of the Padma - Boat in which Tagore had produced some of his finest literary works during the time he spent in Bangladesh. Mr.Ansari in his inaugural speech said Tagore had closely associated himself with the toiling masses.

In Pakistan five persons were killed and 15 others injured when gunmen opened fire on a group of Shi'ites, in south-western region. Police said the Shi'ites were attacked this morning in a park in Quetta in Baluchistan province. Eye witnesses said the assailants arrived in two cars, firing rockets before shooting guns. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Baluchistan province in Pakistan is witnessing Islamist militancy and sectarian violence between majority Sunnis and minority Shi'ite Muslims.

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 152 points, or 0.8 per cent, at 18,363 in opening trade today, as investors picked up stocks at attractive lower levels. Climbing further, the Sensex stood at 209 points, or 1.2 percent in positive territory, at 18,420, in afternoon deals, a short while ago. The 30-share index had lost nearly almost 1,400 points in the last nine trading sessions.

The Indian rupee depreciated by 8 paise to 44.84 rupees against the US dollar in early trade today. Forex dealers have said that strengthening of the dollar against other Asian currencies overseas mainly put pressure on the rupee.

Oil prices bounced back in the Asian markets today after a massive sell-off last night. Light sweet crude added 68 cents to trade at 100.48 dollar per barrel after slumping more than eight percent to close at 99.80 dollar yesterday, the first time it fell below 100 dollar mark since March 16. Brent North Sea crude gained 87 cents and was priced at 111.67 dollar a barrel after it slid more than 10 dollars overnight.

Akshaya Tritiya is being celebrated with religious fervour today. In Rajasthan, the day is also known for child marriages, but state government has made all arrangements to check child marriages. Our correspondent says the number of such marriages is very less this year.

 The state government has made arrangements to check child marriages and this time very few cases of child marriage have been reported in comparison to previous years. A good trend of mass marriages have also started in the state. Many charitable trust and NGOs are organising mass marriages to discourages child marriage. Parshvanath Charitable Trust has organised a Sarva Dharma Nishulk Samuhik Vivah Sammeland in which about 1200 couples tied the knot. Mass marriages took place in Kota, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Baran and Barmer districts also. In Madhya Pradesh also special vigil is being kept to prevent child marriages on Akshay Tritiya. Our Correspondent reports that scores of mass marriage programmes are being organized across the state today.

`The state government has taken several measures to prevent child marriages on Akshay Tritiya. With the assistance of Anganwadi and ASHA workers, lists of minor girls have been prepared. These lists have been sent to superintendents of police, chief executive officers of district panchayats and village sarpanchs. They have been told to be remain alert at the mass marriage functions. The day temperature dipped three to four degree celcius in several parts of the state following rain in Dehradun, Rudraprayag and Tehri districts. Whereas light snowfall was also reported from higher reaches in Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts. According to GS Martolia SSP Dehradun, an under construction retaining wall fell at Mussoorie road killing three people, due to rain. The hill resort Mussoorie reported 18 millimeters rains. In between metrological department has predicted further rain in another 24 hours. Meanwhile after the winter season, the annual Char Dham Yatra also started today in state with the opening of portals of Gangotri and Yamnotri shrines amid chanting of Vedas. An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter Scale jolted eastern parts of Indonesia today. According to Indonesian Meteorology and Geophysics Agency, the quake struck at 1: 46 p.m. local time and had its epicenter 75 kms. off North Sulawesi at a depth of 35 kms. under sea bed. There are no immediate reports of any damage or casualties.
