 श्री जारबोम गामलिन अरूणाचल प्रदेश के नये मुख्यमंत्री बनाए गए हैं। उन्हें कल देर रात ईटानगर में राजभवन में एक समारोह में राज्यपाल ने पद और गोपनियता की शपथ दिलाई। इससे पहले श्री गामलिन राज्य के ऊर्जा मंत्री थे।

कल रात १० बजे राजभवन में आयोजित शपथ ग्रहण समारोह में केन्द्रीय मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद, वी नारायण सामी, मुकुल वाशनिक, पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र विकास मंत्री वी के हांडीक, राज्य केबिनेट के सदस्य, विधायी सचिवो और विधायिकों समेत कई हस्तियां मौजूद थीं। नये मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ग्रहण के लिए राजभवन जाने से पूर्व जारबोम गामलिन ने बताया कि वे दिवंगत मुख्य मंत्री के अधूरे कामों को जारी रखेंगे। इससे पहले कल देर शाम तक नये मुख्यमंत्री के चयन को लेकर केन्द्रिय मंत्रियों विधायको के साथ लम्बी मंत्रणाये की। मुरारी गुप्ता आकाशवाणी समाचार ईटानगर।
 १९६१ में अरूणाचल प्रदेश के पश्चिम सियांग जिले के आलो में जन्में गामलिन २००४ में लीरोमोवा से विधायक चुने गए। वे गेगोंग अपांग मंत्रिमंडल में गृह और संसदीय कार्य मंत्री रहे। वे २००७ में फिर से विधायक बने और राज्य के बिजली मंत्री बनाए गए।

 अरुणाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री स्वर्गीय दोरजी खांडू का अंतिम संस्कार आज उनके पैतृक स्थान त्वांग में राजकीय सम्मान के साथ किया जाएगा। त्वांग से ईटानगर जाते समय शनिवार को उनका हेलीकॉप्टर दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया था। राज्य में केंद्र सरकार के सभी कार्यालय आज बंद रहेंगे। राज्य सरकार ने स्वर्गीय खांडू के सम्मान में सात दिन के राजकीय शोक की घोषणा की है।
 राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील, उपराष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद अंसारी और प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने स्वर्गीय खांडू के निधन पर शोक व्यक्त किया है। प्रधानमंत्री और कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी, उन्हें अंतिम श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करने आज ईटानगर जाएंगे।
 इस बीच, नागर विमानन मंत्रालय ने हेलीकॉप्टर दुर्घटना की जांच के लिए तीन सदस्यीय समिति गठित की है।

 केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो -सीबीआई ने विवादित आदर्श सोसाइटी से जुड़ी फाइलों के गुम हो जाने के मामले में महाराष्ट्र के शहरी विकास विभाग के अधिकारी गुरूदत्त वाजपेयी, सहायक नगर नियोजक एन. एन. नरवेकर और तथा प्रमुख सचिव रमानंद तिवारी के तत्कालीन कलर्क वामन राउल को कल रात मुंबई में गिरफ्तार कर लिया।
 एक महीने तक लगभग ३५ लोगों से पूछताछ के बाद ये गिरफ्तारियां की गईं। तीनों आरोपियों को आज सीबीआई की अदालत में पेश किया जाएगा।

आदर्श सोसायटी की फाइल गुम होने के मामले में अहम कदम उठाते हुये सीबीआई ने कल रात महाराष्ट्र शहरी विकास विभाग से जु+ड़े हुये तीन लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया जिनमें दो अफसर भी शामिल हैं। जब आदर्श घोटाला पिछले सितंबर में सामने आया उसी के कुछ दिनों बाद २८ अक्टूबर २०१० में महाराष्ट्र शहारी विकास विभाग के दफ्तर से आदर्श सोसायटी से जुड़ी हुई कुछ जरूरी फाइलें गुम हो गई और उस वक्त इन फाइलों का खोने की शिकायत मरीन ड्राइव पुलिस स्टेशन में दर्ज कराई। सुधा सुब्रह्मण्यम, आकाशवाणी समाचार, मुंबई

 सरकार पायलटों की हड़ताल खत्म कराने के लिये आज भी पायलटों के साथ बातचीत जारी रखेगी। कल सरकार और हड़ताली पायलटों के बीच दो दौर की बातचीत हुई। नागरिक उडडयन मंत्रालय के संयुक्त सचिव प्रशात शुकुल की अध्यक्षता में दो सदस्यीय समिति प्रतिबंधित भारतीय वाणिज्यिक पायलट संघ के प्रतिनिधियों के साथ बातचीत कर रही है।  बातचीत के सकारात्मक रूख से लगता है कि जल्द ही कोई रास्ता निकल आयेगा।
एयर इंडिया के प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि कल से मेट्रो सेक्टर के लिये टिकटों की बिक्री शुरू हो गयी। हालांकि दूसरी घरेलू उड़ानों के लिये टिकटों की बिक्री रविवार तक स्थगित रहेगी। कल ३२० उड़ानों में से केवल ४० उड़ान ही संचालित हो सकीं। अब तक सात हड़ताली पायलटों को बखर्ा्रस्त किया जा चुका है और छह को निलंबित कर दिया गया है। अनुमान है कि हड़ताल से एयर इंडिया को रोजाना २६ करोड़ रूपये का नुकसान हो रहा है।

 पश्चिम बंगाल में विधानसभा चुनाव के पांचवे दौर के लिए कल वोट डाले जाएंगे। राज्य के मेदिनीपुर, बांकुड़ा, पुरूलिया और बर्दवान जिले की ३८ सीटों के लिए मतदान होगा। चार जिलों में ९ हजार चार सौ से ज्यादा मतदान केंद्र बनाए गए हैं। स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष मतदान कराने के लिए अभूतपूर्व सुरक्षा प्रबंध किये गए हैं। पश्चिमी मेदिनीपुर, बांकुड़ा और पुरूलिया जिलों में दो हेलीकॉप्टर मतदान पर निगरानी रखेंगे ।  सीआरपीएफ के महानिदेशक श्री विनय कुमार ने पश्चिमी मेदिनीपुर जिले में सुरक्षा की स्थिति की समीक्षा की।

 बिहार में पंचायत चुनाव के छठे चरण में आज ५८ विकास खंडों में नौ सौ छह ग्राम पंचायतों में वोट डाले जा रहे हैं। इनमें से ग्यारह नक्सल प्रभावित हैं। लगभग इक्यावन लाख बयालिस हजार मतदाता इक्यानवे हजार तीन सौ से ज्यादा उम्मीदवारों के भाग्य का फैसला करेंगे। लगभग बारह हजार सात सौ मतदान केन्द्र बनाये गये हैं। राज्य चुनाव आयोग ने सरकार को असामाजिक तत्वों को तत्काल गिरफ्तार करने, उनके खिलाफ आरोप पत्र दाखिल करने और फास्ट ट्रेक कोर्ट में मुकदमा चलाने का निर्देश दिया है।

 ओसामा बिन लादेन के मारे जाने के चार दिन बाद राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा कल न्यूयॉर्क में वर्ल्ड ट्रेड सेन्टर गए। उन्होंने वहां ११ सितम्बर २००१ को आतंकी हमले में मारे गए लोगों को श्रद्धांजलि दी। श्री ओबामा ने कहा कि लादेन की मौत ने न्याय के लिए अमरीका की प्रतिबद्धता साबित कर दी है।
 इस बीच, पाकिस्तान के सेनाध्यक्ष जनरल अशफाक़ परवेज+ कियानी ने चेतावनी दी है कि अगर भविष्य में ऐबटाबाद जैसी कार्रवाई हुई, तो वह अमरीका से अपने संबंधों पर पुनर्विचार करेगा। ओसामा बिन लादेन की मौत के बाद पाकिस्तानी सेना की यह पहली प्रतिक्रिया है।
 उधर, संयुक्तराष्ट्र ने कहा है कि अमरीका उसे ओसामा बिन लादेन की मौत की पूरी परिस्थितियों की जानकारी दे ताकि उसकी वैधानिकता सुनिश्चित की जा सके।

 अफगानिस्तान में कल देश के दक्षिणी हिस्से में दो घटनाओं में नौ आतंकवादी मारे गए। कंधार में नेटो के हवाई हमलों में चार आतंकवादियों की मौत हुई जबकि पांच अन्य आतंकवादी हेलमंड प्रांत में पुलिस के साथ मुठभेड़ में मारे गए। इस बीच, कल राजधानी काबुल में सैंकड़ों लोगों ने एक विरोध रैली में भाग लिया ।  रैली में कहा गया कि राष्ट्रपति करजई तालिबान के साथ समझौते की कोशिश से देश को खतरे में डाल रहे हैं।

अफगानिस्तान में प्रस्तावित शांति प्रक्रिया के विरूद्ध यह इस तरह की पहली जनसभा थी जिसमें सैकड़ों लोगों ने भाग लिया। राष्ट्रपति हामिद करजई की वार्ता की पहल से वे लोग खुश नहीं हैं, जिन्होंने तालिबान के विरूद्ध लड़ाई लड़ी है। इनमें मुख्यतः अल्पसंख्यक साजिद हजारा और तूर्कन मूल के लोग शामिल हैं। जो पहले नोर्दन एलांयस के समर्थक थे और जिनके नेता को ग्यारह सितबंर की घटना से दो दिन पहले मार दिया गया था। मसूद में उत्तरी पनसील प्रांत में तालिबान को रोके रखा था और पूर्व विदेश मंत्री डॉ अब्दुल्ला अब्दूल्ला और पूर्व खुफिया प्रमुख अमरूल्ला ताले दोनों उनके नजदीकी कार्यकर्ताओं में थे। कल की सभा में उन्होंने लोगों को शांति वार्ता से अगाह करते हुए सरकार को सावधान किया कि अगर उनकी बातों पर ध्यान नही दिया गया तो वे अपना आंदोलन और तेज करेंगे। आकाशवाणी समाचार के लिए काबूल से संतोष कुमार।

 विश्व बाज+ार में कच्चे तेल के दामों में दस प्रतिशत की गिरावट दर्ज की गई है। पिछले दो वर्षों में कच्चे तेल के दाम में यह सबसे अधिक गिरावट है। अमरीका में कच्चे तेल की कीमत सौ डॉलर प्रति बैरल से नीचे आ गई है ।
 दुनिया में तेल की सबसे अधिक खपत अमरीका में होती है और वहां बेरोज+गारी के आंकड़े आने के बाद संकेत मिले हैं कि वहां तेल की मांग अब उतनी नहीं होगी, जितनी उम्मीद की जा रही थी।
 कुछ जानकार इस गिरावट को ओसामा बिन लादेन की मौत के बाद तेल बाज+ार की प्रतिक्रिया से जोड़+ कर भी देख रहे हैं।

Mr. Jarbom Gamlin is the new Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.  He was sworn-in in Itanagar late last night.  The State Governor, General (retired) J.J. Singh administered him the oath of office at Raj Bhawan.  Mr. Gamlin was the Power Minister in Mr. Dorji Khandu's cabinet. 

Earlier, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Legislature Party met in Itanagar and passed a resolution authorising Congress President Sonia Gandhi to choose the successor to Mr. Dorji Khandu who was killed in a chopper crash along with four others on Saturday last while going from Tawang to Itanagar. Union ministers Salman Khurshid, V Narayanasamy, Mukul Wasnik, Vincent Pala, DoNER Minister BK Handique, state ministers and MLAs were present during the hurriedly arranged swearing in ceremony. Earlier in the evening, Gamlin, before moving to the Raj Bhawan for the swearing in, said he will carry on and complete the works taken up by the late Chief Minister. Jarbom Gamlin was considered one of the closest confidants of Dorjee Khandu. Since late afternoon yesterday, all the union ministers and Arunachal legislators were huddled up in closed door meetings. The final decision was announced around 9.30 pm after the approval of the Congress party high command.

Dorji Khandu's last rights will be performed today at his native place Tawang with full state honours.  All Central Government offices in the State will remain closed today.  The Arunachal Government has announced 7-days State mourning as a mark of respect to the late Chief Minister.  Assam Government has also announced a 3-day state mourning in honour of Mr. Khandu.

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi will go to Itanagar today to pay their last respects to the late leader.

A large number of people have been turning-up at the Chief Minister's Bunglow at Itanagar to pay their last respects to the late Chief Minister. The body will be flown to Tawang today for last rites.

The new Chief Minister Mr. Jarbom Gamlin was born in 1961 and was a Lok Sabha member from Arunachal Pradesh West a decade ago.  He was the State Home Minister from 2004 to 2009.

The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested Maharashtra Urban Development department officer Gurudutt Vajpe, Assistant Town Planner N N Narvekar, and Waman Raul, the then clerk to principal secretary Ramanand Tiwari, for their alleged involvement in the Adarsh Society missing file case, yesterday night in Mumbai. The Bombay High Court had yesterday pulled up the CBI for neglecting the probe into the files related to Adarsh that had gone missing from the Urban Development Department. AIR correspondent reports that the arrests were made after interrogation of around 35 people for a month.

In a major development in the Adarsh Housing Society missing file case, the CBI yesterday night arrested three officers. The Urban Development department officer Gurudutt Vajpae was also a complainant in the missing file case. After the scam came to light last September, some important files regarding the building were found to have went missing from the Urban Development Department Office in the State Government Headquarters on October 28, 2010. It was Vajpae on whose complaint the case of the missing file was registered with the Marine Drive police station last year.

The third round of talks between the striking Air India pilots and Civil Aviation Ministry will be held today. The second round of talks between the striking pilots of Air India and the Union Civil Aviation Ministry officials remained inconclusive yesterday as a much-awaited breakthrough to end their nine-day-old strike could not be achieved. Speaking to reporters, General Secretary of the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA), Capt. Rishabh Kapur, said they are satisfied with the progress made so far. On the ninth day of the pilots’ strike yesterday, Air India managed to operate 32 domestic flights from six metros as per its contingency plan.

The 5th phase Assembly election in West Bengal will take place in 38 seats covering parts of West Mednipur, Bankura, Purulia districts tomorrow.  The campaign for this phase of election came to an end last evening.  Over 74 lakh electorate will decide the political fate of 193 candidates.  More than 9,400 polling booths have been set-up in four districts.  The Election Commission appointed Special Observers Mr. Devasish Chakraborty yesterday who took stock of the situation of election preparedness at West Mednipur district.

In Bihar, polling is underway for the sixth phase of Panchayat elections at 906 Gram Panchayats in 58 blocks of the state amidst tight security. The polling began at 7 am and will continue up to 5 this afternoon. In Naxal affected area, polling will be up to 3 pm. Pakistan's army  has said  it will review ties with Washington if the U.S. launches any more raids on its territory. The statement  came yesterday just hours after Pakistani Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir defended the work of Pakistan's military and the ISI, following the U.S. operation that killed Osama bin Laden early Monday.
The army warned that any future raids would result in a review of military and intelligence cooperation with the United States. It also said that U.S. military personnel in Pakistan would be reduced to the minimum essential levels.
Pakistani Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir accused the U.S. of having violated the country's sovereignty by staging the raid without Pakistan's knowledge or permission.

Four days after  American troops killed Osama bin Laden,  President Obama visited the site of World Trade Centre in New York.  He laid a wreath at the spot where  the Centre's twin towers stood until they were destroyed by al-Qaeda on the 11th of September in 2001.  President Obama also had private meetings with relatives of those killed.

In Afghanistan, nine militants were killed in two separate incidents in the south of the country yesterday. Four militants were killed in a NATO air strike in Kandahar while five others died in clashes with the police in Helmand province. Meanwhile, hundreds of people participated in a protest meeting in capital Kabul saying President Hamid Karzai is endangering his country by attempting to reconcile with the Taliban. Former presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah and former Afghan intelligence chief Amrullah Saleh told thousands of protesters that Karzai is wrong for reaching out to the Taliban and for working with Pakistan. The protests in capital Kabul is significant as the talk of peace process with Taliban-led groups is gaining momentum. Afghan President is not on easy terms with US administration and is pushing for reconciliation with Taliban once US troops begin leaving the country. Pakistan, which has been supporting Taliban, seeks to gain influence by installing a supportive government in Kabul. But the ethnic minority groups comprising of Tajiks, Hajaras and Turkmens are averse to Taliban gaining influence in the Kabul administration. They comprise of Northern Alliance, which led by Ahmed Shah Massoud, fought the Taliban till he was assassinated two days before 9/11. The protestors termed the peace process as betrayal.

Describing the joint celebrations as a unique project, India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mr.Rajeet Mitter said that eminent cultural eminent personalities like Soumitra Chatterjee from Kolkata will be presenting a recitation while Prof Uday Narain Singh, Pro-vice chancellor of Vishwa Bharti, Shanti Niketan, will be giving a lecture at the opening ceremony function today in addition to performances by artistes from Bangladesh. The two sides have drawn up an elaborate programme of events throughout the year which will celebrate various aspects of Tagore's life and work. A India Bangladesh car rally to various places where the Great poet lived in both the countries is also being planned.

Earlier yesterday, the Vice President who arrived in Dhaka on a two day visit called on the Bangladesh President Zillur Rehman and also held discussions with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign minister Dr. Dipu Moni. Briefing newspersons in Dhaka about the meetings, Special Secretary Mr. Jayant Prasad said  that both countries agreed that terrorism is an international scourge and all countries should jointly fight it.

The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to controversial ruling Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Shribhagwan Sharma alias Guddu Pandit who was arrested last year during Panchayat Elections for allegedly kidnapping some of the newly elected Panchayat members in Bulandshahar district. Justice Vikram Nath passed the order to this effect on a bail application filed by the MLA who represents Debai constituency in the state assembly.

The price of crude oil has dropped by ten per cent,  the steepest one day fall in more than two years. The price of US crude fell to just under  one hundred dollars a barrel.

Oil prices have been high in response to social tensions in West Asia. The  reversal in prices was triggered  by figures from the United States. Weaknesses in the world's biggest economy suggest demand for  crude will not be as robust as forecast.

Pakistan's strong reaction to India's army chief's remarks that all three wings of India's defence forces were capable of carrying out a US-like operation, forms the lead story in most dailies.  "Cornered Pak turns on India" is the headline in Hindustan Times, while The Pioneer writes, "Hit by US, Pakistan barks at India". The headline in The Indian Express reads, "Smarting, Pak Army chief warns US and India". Brushing aside Pakistan's protests, President Obama has said that the US will again carry out such an operation in Pakistan, if necessary, reports The Statesman.

Hindustan Times speculates that after Osama bin Laden, the front-runner in the race to head Al Qaeda is Ilyas Kashmiri.  The Tribune and The Hindu carry identical headlines on their front pages, "Zawahiri betrayed Osama".  

Under the headline, "Govt plans 'drastic' steps, says BJP instigating pilots" The Asian Age quotes a government source as saying that the fact that the pilots met the BJP leadership shows the BJP is fishing in troubled waters. 

On the eve of her appearance before a CBI court in connection with the 2G spectrum case, Kanimozhi says she's ready to face arrest, writes Hindustan Times. 

Both The Asian Age and The Pioneer have highlighted the Supreme Court's dissatisfaction over the Income Tax Department's probe report on the 2G scam, against some telecom companies and their heads, describing it as "sketchy" and asking for a new report. 

The Times of India reports that the CBI has responded to the allegation of sparing some influential figures in the 2G scam by informing the Supreme Court that the investigation into the alleged involvement of Reliance ADAG and Tata Tele Services was not over yet.

The Supreme Court's directive to the Centre and states to treat sex workers with dignity and prepare rehabilitation schemes for them by July 15, has been prominently reported in The Tribune.

And finally, a study by AIIMS, reported in The Times of India reveals a disturbing trend.  Almost one in every five head injury cases are women, and this number has risen sharply since last year.
