प्रधानमंत्री ने आज संसद में आश्वासन दिया कि देश के ं परमाणु संयंत्रो की सुरक्षा सरकार की सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि परमाणु ऊर्जा विभाग और उससे जुड़ी एजेन्सियों को सभी परमाणु ऊर्जा संयत्रों की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था की तुरंत तकनीकी समीक्षा करने के लिए कहा गया है ताकि त्सुनामी और भूकंप जैसे हादसे होने पर वे उनका सामना कर सके। डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि भारत इस सिलसिले में संबद्ध एजेंसियों के संपर्क में है।
भारत अंतर्राष्ट्रीय परमाणु ऊर्जा एजेंसी, जापान परमाणु औद्योगिक फोरम और विश्व परमाणु ऑपरेटर एसोसिएशन के लगातार सम्पर्क में हैं। वर्तमान में भारत में 20 परमाणु ऊर्जा संयत्र कार्यरत हैं। हाल ही में इनकी सुरक्षा जांच पूरी कर ली गयी है और ये संयंत्र सुरक्षा मापदंडों पर खरे उतरे हैं।
प्रधानमंत्री ने जापान के राहत, पुर्नवास और पुनर्निर्माण कार्यक्रम में भारत की सहायता की घोषणा की।
हम प्रभावित लोगों के लिए 25 हजार कम्बल तुरंत जापान भेज रहे हैं। हम राहत और बचाव दलों के साथ राहत सामग्री भेजने के लिए तैयार हैं। राहत, पुनर्वास और पुनर्निर्माण के कार्यों में हम जापान के साथ हैं। इसके लिए नौसेना को अपने जहाज जापान भेजने के लिए तैयार रखने को कहा गया है।
उन्होंने कहा कि जापान में सभी भारतीय सुरक्षित हैं उनमें से केवल सत्तर लोग ही शिविरों में रह रहे हैं। भारत वहां की स्थिति पर लगातार नजर रखे हुए हैं।
इस बीच, भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने परमाणु संयंत्रों की सुरक्षा को प्राथमिकता देने का आज सरकार से आग्रह किया। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि प्रधानमंत्री ने देश में परमाणु सुरक्षा को सरकार की प्राथमिकता बताया और इस बारे में सरकार द्वारा किए जा रहे उपायों का जिक्र किया।
प्रधानमंत्री का यह वक्तव्य उस समय आया है जब देश में एटामिक बिजली घरों की सुरक्षा बहस का मुद्दा बनी हुई है। यह सुरक्षा जापान में समुद्री तूफान और भूकम्प की वजह से एटामिक बिजली घरों में हादसा होने की आशंका के पेशेनज+र चिन्ता का विषय था। डॉक्टर सिंह ने अपने वक्तव्य में विस्तार से परमाणु ऊर्जा रियक्टरों की सुरक्षा के सम्बन्ध में बताया कि 20 न्यूकीलर रियक्टरों की सुरक्षा जांच पूरी कर ली गई है और इस तरह से इस सिलसिले में चिंतायें दूर हो गईं हैं। यहां पर यह बताना उचित है कि 2002 में भुज में भूकम्प और 2004 में मद्रास की सुनामी के बाद इन क्षेत्रों में बने परमाणु रियेक्टर सामान्य बनाने के प्रयास जारी हैं और उम्मीद की जाती है कि इससे देश में परमाणु रियेक्टरों की सुरक्षा में और भी वृद्धि होगी।

संसद में जापान में आये विनाशकारी भूकम्प और त्सुनामी में मारे गये हजारों लोगों को श्रद्धांजलि दी गयी। लोकसभा और राज्यसभा के सदस्यों ने इस आपदा में मारे गये लोगों के प्रति सम्मान प्रकट करने के लिए मौन रखा। लोकसभा अध्यक्ष मीरा कुमार ने कहा कि सदन, इस आपदा से बड़े पैमाने पर हुई जानमाल की हानि के लिए जापान के लोगों के प्रति हार्दिक संवेदना व्यक्त करता है। उधर, राज्यसभा में सभापति हामिद अंसारी ने एक संदेश पढ़ा, जिसमें इस विपत्ति में अपने प्रियजनों को खोने वाले, जापान के लोगों के प्रति हार्दिक सहानुभूति और संवदेना व्यक्त की गयी।

जापान में तकनीशियन, भूकम्प से प्रभावित परमाणु संयत्र के तीसरे रियेक्टर को दुरूस्त करने की जी-तोड़ कोशिशें कर रहे हैं। एन एच के जापान रेडियो के प्रतिनिधि मुनीष शर्मा ने बताया कि पिछले तीन दिनों में इस संयत्र में दूसरी बार विस्फोट हुआ है।

कल तक जो मेहज आशंका थी वो आज एक सच्चाई बन गई जापान के स्थाई समय के मुताबिक सुबह 11 बजकर एक मिनट पर फुकुशिमा के पास प्लांट नम्बर एक के रियेक्टर नम्बर 3 में एक जबर्दस्त विस्फोट हुआ जैसे के आशंका पहले जाहिर की जा रही थी अन्दर मौजूद हाइड्रोजन की बहुत ज्यादा मात्रा के कारण यह विस्फोट हुआ। विस्फोट की वजह से 11 लोग घायल हो गये। परमाणु ऊर्जा और औद्योगिक सुरक्षा एजेंसी ने चेतावनी दी है कि पावर प्लांट के बीस किलोमीटर के दायरे में जैसा कि खबरों से पता लगा है कि करीब 500 लोग उस दायरे में हैं। उन्हें कहा गया कि वो इमारतों के भीतर चले जायें और मुख्य कैबिनेट सचिव जनाव यूक्यू अदानू साहब ने यह कहा कि रियेक्टर नम्बर 3 में मौजूद कंटेनर क्षतिग्रस्त नहीं हुआ है और बड़ी मात्रा में रेडियो एक्टिव तत्व की हवा में फैलने की कोई आशंका नहीं है। कुल मिलाकर के कहा जा सकता है कि कुलिंग सिस्टम की नाकामी से पैदा हुई सम्स्यायें वहां है वो अभी भी बनी हुई हैं और फुकुशिमा के परमाणु संयंत्र में एक और विस्फोट की आशंका जो जाहिर की जा रही है उसको टालने के लिए भरसक कोशिश कर रही है तोक्यो इलेक्ट्रिक पावर कोर्पोरेशन। इस बीच, राहत अभियान जारी है। मरने वालों की संख्या के बारे में अनिश्चितता बनी हुई है। मियागी में अधिकारियों के अनुसार इस घटना में ही करीब 10 हजार लोग मारे गये हैं। जापानी मीडिया ने मियागी तट पर दो हजार शवों के पाये जाने की खबर दी है। राजधानी टोक्यो में अभी भी नियमित रूप से भूकम्प के झटके महसूस किये जा रहे हैं।

भारतीय नौसेना ने पश्चिमी तट से करीब छह सौ समुद्री मील दूर समुद्री डाकुओं के एक मुख्य जहाज को पकड़ा और चालक दल के तेरह सदस्यों को रिहा करवाया। इकसठ सोमाली डाकुओं को गिरतार कर लिया गया है। नौसेना के एक प्रवक्ता ने आज नई दिल्ली में बताया कि इन डाकुओं और जहाज को मुम्बई लाया जा रहा है, जहां उनसे पूछताछ की जायेगी। इन लोगों ने अपहरण किये हुए विभिन्न जहाजों पर करीब 53 भारतीयों को बंदी बना रखा है।

भारत ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया में अपने राजदूत से सिडनी में 24 वर्षीय भारतीय छात्रा तोशा ठक्कर के साथ बलात्कार और हत्या के बारे में रिपोर्ट मांगी है। विदेश मंत्री एस. एम. कृष्ण ने हत्या को अत्यंत दुखद बताते हुए कहा कि सरकार लगातार स्थिति पर नजर रखे हुए है और वह इस बात का ध्यान रखेगी कि इस मामले में न्याय हो।

इस बीच, नई दिल्ली में ऑस्ट्रेलियाई उच्चायोग ने इस हत्या के नस्ली अपराध होने की संभावनाओं से इंकार किया।

सरकार ने काले धन का अनुमान लगाने और इसकी रोकथाम के लिए विशेषज्ञों की एक समिति बनाई है। वित्तमंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने आज राज्यसभा में आम बजट पर बहस का उत्तर देते हुए यह जानकारी दी। उन्होंने कहा कि राजस्व अधिकारियों ने पिछले अठारह महीनों में लगभग एक लाख करोड़ रूपये की कर चोरी का पता लगाया है। उन्होंने कहा कि अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सहयोग और घरेलू निगरानी के कारण ऐसा हो पाया है।
वित्तमंत्री ने बताया कि विदेशों में जमा धन का पता लगाने के लिए सरकार ने दस देशों के साथ कर संबंधी सूचनाओं के आदान-प्रदान का समझौता किया है। वित्तमंत्री ने कहा कि विदेशी बैंकों में पांच सौ अरब डालर से लेकर एक हजार पांच सौ अरब डालर तक जमा होने का अनुमान है।
वित्तमंत्री के उत्तर के बाद राज्यसभा में विनियोग विधेयक लोकसभा को लौटा दिया। इसके साथ ही बजट पारित करने का प्रथम चरण पूरा हो गया है। लोकसभा पहले ही पूरक मांगों और इनसे जुड़े विनियोग विधेयकों को मंजूरी दे चुकी है।

सी बी आई ने कलईगनार टी वी के प्रबन्ध निदेशक शरद कुमार और मैसर्स सिनेयुग फिल्म्स प्राईवेट लिमिटेड के प्रमोटर करीम मोरानी से आज नई दिल्ली में टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम आबंटन घोटाले के सिलसिले में पूछताछ की। उन्हें सिनेयुग से चैनल को मिले 214 करोड़ रुपये और डीबी रियल्टी के प्रमोटर शाहिद बलवा की भूमिका के बारे में पूछताछ के लिए सी बी आई मुख्यालय बुलाया गया। सरकारी सूत्रों का कहना है कि पिछले सप्ताह सी बी आई के अधिकारियों का एक दल, डी. एम. के. सांसद और तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री करूणानिधि की पुत्री कनिमोझी और उनकी पत्नी एम. के. दयालु अम्माल से टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले और कलईगनार टी वी चैनल में उनके हिस्से के बारे में पूछताछ के लिए चेन्नई गया था।
डीएमके मुख्यालय, अन्ना अरिवालयम में स्थित इस चैनल में कुमार का भी हिस्सा है।

इस बीच, दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय ने टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम आवंटन घोटाले की जल्दी सुनवाई के लिए एक विशेष अदालत गठित करने का फैसला किया है। उच्च न्यायालय के सूत्रों ने पीटीआई को बताया कि सीबीआई न्यायाधीश ओ पी सैनी को इस मामले से निपटने के लिए विशेष न्यायाधीश नियुक्त किया गया है।

छत्तीसगढ़ के दंतेवाड़ा जिले में आज पुलिस के साथ मुठभेड में कम से कम तीन ÷कोया÷ कंमाडो मारे गए लेकिन अभी तक केवल एक का ही शव बरामद हुआ है। गोलीबारी में छह जवान भी घायल हुए जिनमें तीन की हालत गंभीर है। जिला पुलिस बल के घायल जवानों को बस्तर जिले के जगदलपुर अस्पताल में भर्ती किया गया है। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि
चिन्तलनार थाना क्षेत्र में सीतलागुड़ा के निकट ये मुठभेड़ हुई।

पुलिस सूत्रो के मुताबिक गस्त पर निकले लगभग 300 से ज्यादा पुलिस बल के जवानों को करीब एक हजार से ज्यादा नक्सलियों ने घेरा। जिसके चलते दोनों ओर से एक घण्टे से ज्यादा देर तक गोलीबारी हुई। इस मुठभेड़ में पुलिस दस से ज्यादा नक्सलियों को मार गिराने का भी दावा कर रही है। दूसरी ओर आज दोपहर काकेर जिले में नक्सलियों ने रेल निर्माण कार्य में लगे करीब एक दर्जन वाहनों को भी आग के हवाले कर दिया।

गुवाहाटी में असम प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी के कार्यालय-राजीव भवन में एक शक्तिशाली विस्फोट में कम से कम तीन कांग्रेस कार्यकर्ता घायल हुए हैं। वे खतरे से बाहर बताए जाते हैं। इस बीच परेश बरूआ नेतृत्व वाले उल्फा ने विस्फोट की जिम्मेदारी ली है।

मुद्रास्फीति की दर में पिछले महीने मामूली वृद्धि हुई और ये आठ दशमलव तीन एक प्रतिशत हो गई। इससे पहले के महीने यानी जनवरी में ये दर आठ दशमलव दो तीन प्रतिशत थी।
मुद्रास्फीति में ये वृद्धि मुख्य रूप से दूध, खाने के तेलों, सब्जियों और फलों के दाम बढ़ने के कारण हुई।

मुंबई शेयर बाजार में दो दिनों से जारी गिरावट का सिलसिला आज टूट गया और सेंसेक्स 265 अंक बढ़कर 18 हजार 439 हो गया। नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज का निफ्‌टी 86 अंक की बढ़ोतरी के साथ पांच हजार 532 पर बंद हुआ।

क्रिकेट विश्व कप के ग्रुप-ए में कैंडी में जिम्बाब्वे के साथ बारिश से बाधित मैच में पाकिस्तान को जीत के लिए डकवर्थ लुइस नियम के आधार पर 38 ओवर में 162 रन का संशोधित लक्ष्य मिला है। ताजा समाचार मिलने तक पाकिस्तान ने 13वें ओवर में 1 विकेट पर 50 रन बना लिए हैं। इससे पहले जिम्बाब्वे ने 38 ओवर और चार गेंद में 7 विकेट पर 151 रन बनाए थे।

The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today assured the Lok Sabha that the safety of nuclear plants in the country is the Government's top priority. He added that an immediate technical review of India's atomic plants has been ordered to check if they can withstand the impact of large natural disasters such as Tsunamis and earthquakes.

Dr. Singh asserted that New Delhi is in constant touch with the International Atomic Energy Agency, Japanese Atomic Industrial Forum and world Association of Nuclear operators and extended India's help in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction process.

Making a suo moto statement in the Lok Sabha today, Dr Singh said all Indians in Japan are safe and only 70 of them are living in shelters and New Delhi is constantly monitoring the situation.

The statement has addressed the concerns being expressed on the nuclear safety by the Indian community   after the threat of a nuclaer disaster in Japan in the wake of a natural calamity. Dr.Singh in his statement dealt at length on the safety of nuclear power reactors to put at rest all the reports in this direction, saying safety audit of the 20 nuclear reactors has been completed. It is heartning to note that Kakrapar Atomic Power Station after earthquake in Bhuj in 2002 and Madras Atomic Power Station after Tsunami in 2004 worked normally. With work underway to further strengthen Nuclear Safety Regulatory Authority, it is expected that more steps will be on the anvil to stregthen safety of nuclear plants.

Meanwhile the BJP today urged the Government to make the safety of nuclear plants its priority.

Meanwhile, in Japan, technicians are battling to stabilise a third reactor at a quake-stricken nuclear plant, which has been rocked by a second blast in three days. The Fukushima Daiichi plant's operators have resumed pumping seawater into reactor 2 after a cooling system broke. Meanwhile, the relief operation is continuing after Friday's magnitude 8.9 quake, which triggered a tsunami that devastated the north-eastern coast of the country.

The government has set up a committee of experts to estimate the quantum of black money and suggest measures to prevent generation of unaccounted wealth. Replying to the general discussion on the Budget in the Rajya Sabha, the Finance Minister today told the House that revenue authorities have detected tax evasion of about one  lakh crore rupees during the past 18 months Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said ,this happened as a result of international cooperation as well as domestic surveillance. The finance minister said,as part of the efforts to trace funds stashed abroad, the government has entered into Tax Information Exchange Agreement (TIEA) with 10 countries. In addition, he said, India has amended the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) with 23 countries to enable the government to seek banking information. Following the reply of Mr. Mukherjee on the general discussion on the Budget, the Rajya Sabha returned the Appropriations Bills, completing the first phase of the three-stage exercise for passage of the budget.

The managing director of Kalaignar TV Sharad Kumar was questioned by the CBI in New Delhi today in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation scam.  Kumar was called by the investigators at CBI headquarters with regard to some issues relating to the 214 crore rupees received by the channel from Cineyug and the role of Shahid Balwa's promoted DB Realty in it.

The Delhi High Court has decided to set up a special court exclusively to hold the trial in the 2G spectrum allocation scam for expeditious hearing in the case. The decision came in light of the Supreme Court's remarks on setting up a special court in view of the magnitude of the offence.

In Assam, at least three Congress Party officials were injured when a powerful explosion took place at the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) office at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati this evening. According to party sources, the miscreants hurled a bomb inside a room behind Rajiv Bhavan. Some portion of the building is reported to have damaged. The party spokesmen Akshay Rajkhowa and Mehdi Alam Bora besides the general secretary Ranjan Bora were hurt in the blast. They are stated to be out of danger. Senior police officials have arrived on the spot and started the investigation. Meanwhile, the anti-talk faction of the ULFA, led by Paresh Baruah has claimed responsibility for the blast.

In Kerala, The CPIM led LDF has finalised seat sharing arrangements for next month's assembly election. Announcing the decision LDF Convenor Vaikkom Viswan told media that CPIM will be contesting 85 seats and will support eight independent candidates is likely to announce candidates by 21st of this month. Meanwhile, the BJP has said that the party will announce its second list by tomorrow.

The congress has ruled out any hitch with its alliance partner Trinamool Congress over seat sharing in the poll-bound West Bengal. In Chhattisgarh at least three jawans were killed in an encounter with the naxalites in the Dantewada district today. The jawans belonged to the district police force. AIR correspondent reprots that six jawans were also injured in the shoot out, three of them seriously.

The CBI arrested four more persons in connection with the killings at Netai village near Lalgarh allegedly by CPI-M supporters on 7th of jan. CBI sources said they were arrested from Sasabera village in Goaltore in West Medh-na-nur district yesterday. The arrested persons were produced in Jhargram today in the ACJM's court which remanded them to  five days' judicial custody.

Inflation rose marginally to 8.31 per cent for the month ended February from 8.23 per cent in the previous month. The rise in inflation was mainly on account of higher milk, edible oil, and vegetable and fruit prices. In addition, high fuel prices on account of soaring international crude oil rates also contributed to inflation. Food inflation, which accounts for over 14 per cent of overall wholesale price index (WPI) inflation, stood at 10.65 per cent in February.

In the ICC Cricket World Cup, Bangladesh have kept their hopes of reaching the quarterfinals alive.   In their penultimate Group 'B match at Chittagong today,  the co-hosts notched up a comfortable six-wicket triumph over the Netherlands.
