विवरणThe centrally sponsored Adolescent Girls scheme, renamed as Kishori Shakti Yojna was being implemented in 4 blocks, namely Nathusari Chopta, Baragudha, Odhan, and Rania, with the objective of improving the nutritional and health status of adolescent girls between 11-18 years of age, to train and equip them to improve home-based and vocational skills, to promote awareness of health hygiene, nutrition, home management, child care, and take all measures as to facilitate their marriage after attaining the age of 18 years and even later. This scheme is being implemented through Anganwadi Centres. The girls are also provided supplementary nutrition at Rs. 2.50 per girl, per day. The expenditure on supplementary nutrition is being borne by the State Government. The Central Government sanctioned this scheme for 81 more ICDS projects, including 5 urban projects vide their letter, dated 13-09-2001, and thus, this scheme is sanctioned for 85 blocks. Out of 81 blocks, the scheme has further been expanded to 15 ICDS projects of Gurgaon and Faridabad District, where work regarding survey and enrollment has already begun, and 154 Balika Mandals have formed. Under this scheme in 10 percent of Anganwadi Centres, Balika Mandals have been formed. Each Balika Mandal will consist of 20 girls for six months. Thus, in a year, 40 girls of each Balika Mandal will be trained. For this programme, a sum of Rs. 36,00,000 is proposed for the year 2005-06.
