विवरण	The main objectives of this programme are to provide wage employment in the rural areas, and also food security, alongside the creations of durable community, social and Economic assets, and infrastructure development in these areas. The wage employment opportunities are available for all rural poor, who are in need of wage employment, and are willing to take up manual unskilled work in the villages. The programme will be implemented in two streams. The first stream will be implemented at the district and block levels, and 50 percent of the funds will be earmarked out of the total funds available under SGRY, and distributed between the Zila Parishads (20 percent) and Panchayat Samitis (30percent). The second stream will be implemented at the village panchayat level. 50 percent of SGRY funds will be earmarked for the Gram Panchayats. The Zila Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Gram Panchayats will prepare their own Annual Action Plans. The Govt. of India, from the year 2001-2002 have decided to allocate foodgrains free of cost to the State Govt. for distribution amongst the workers engaged under SGRY. For this scheme, an outlay of Rs. 2,180.00 lac has been proposed for Annual Plan 2005-2006 as State Share.
