• सी.बी.आई. ने बाबरी मस्जिद ढहाए जाने के मामले में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेता लालकृष्ण आडवाणी और मुरली मनोहर जोशी के खिलाफ इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय द्वारा आरोपों के निरस्त किए जाने के आदेश को उच्चतम न्यायालय में चुनौती दी।
• श्रीलंका की अदालत ने सभी 136 भारतीय मछुआरों को रिहा करने के आदेश दिए।

• ओड़ीशा सरकार ने मलकानगिरि के अपहृत जिला मजिस्ट्रेट आर. विनाइल कृष्णा और एक अन्य व्यक्ति की रिहाई को लेकर माओवादियों के प्रस्तावित दो व्यक्तियों के नामों को स्वीकार किया।

सी. बी. आई. ने इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय के उस आदेश को उच्चतम न्यायालय में चुनौती दी है जिसमें भारतीय जनता पार्टी के लाल कृष्ण आडवाणी और मुरली मनोहर जोशी सहित कई प्रमुख नेताओं के खिलाफ बाबरी मस्जिद ढहाये जाने के आरोपों को निरस्त कर दिया गया था।
सी. बी. आई. ने अपनी अपील में कहा है कि उच्च न्यायालय ने सही निष्कर्ष नहीं निकाला था और सम्बंधित नेताओं के खिलाफ आपराधिक साजिश के आरोपों को बहाल किया जाना चाहिए।
उच्च न्यायालय ने पिछले वर्ष 20 मई को भाजपा और संघ परिवार के प्रमुख नेताओं के खिलाफ आपराधिक साजिश को बहाल किये जाने के सी. बी. आई. के अनुरोध को नामंजूर कर दिया था।
इन नेताओं में अशोक सिंघल, गिरिराज किशोर, विनय कटियार, विष्णुहरि डालमिया, साध्वी ऋतम्बरा और महंत अवैद्य नाथ शामिल थे। अन्य नेताओं में मध्य प्रदेश की पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री उमा भारती और उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री कल्याण सिंह तथा शिव सेना प्रमुख बाला साहेब ठाकरे शामिल थे।

श्रीलंका ने सभी 136 भारतीय मछुआरों को रिहा कर दिया है। विदेश मंत्री एस एम कृष्णा ने श्रीलंका के विदेश मंत्री जी एल पैरिस को इसके लिए धन्यवाद दिया है। हमारी संवाददाता के अनुसार ये मछुआरें भारतीय तटों की ओर रवाना हो गए हैं।

सरकार ने कहा है कि टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम मामले में संयुक्त संसदीय समिति-जेपीसी के गठन के मुद्दे पर बुधवार से पहले कोई फैसला ले लिया जाएगा। संसदीय कार्यमंत्री पी. के. बसंल ने आज नई दिल्ली में पत्रकारों को बताया कि विपक्ष के साथ बातचीत आगे बढ़ी है और सरकार को उम्मीद है कि बजट सत्र सुचारू चलेगा।

एक सवाल के जवाब में श्री बंसल ने कहा कि जेपीसी का गठन किसी एक खास मुद्दे को लेकर ही किया जाता है।

स्वान टेलीकॉम कंपनी के मालिक शाहिद उस्मान बलवा को आज तिहाड़ जेल भेज दिया गया। बलवा को टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम आबंटन मामले में पूर्व केन्दीय मंत्री ए. राजा के साथ सांठ-गांठ के आरोप में गिरतार किया गया था। सी बी आई के विशेष न्यायाधीश ओ. पी. सैनी ने तीन मार्च तक बलवा को तिहाड़ जेल में न्यायिक हिरासत में रखने के आदेश दिए हैं। चार दिन की सी बी आई हिरासत के बाद आज उसे अदालत में पेश किया गया था।

सीबीआई ने एस्सार गु्रप के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी प्रशांत रूईया से पूछताछ की है। 2008 में टूजी स्पेक्ट्रम आबंटन को लेकर उनसे पूछताछ की गयी। सीबीआई अधिकारियों के अनुसार लूप टेलिकॉम प्राइवेट लिमिटेड के साथ उनकी कंपनी के संबंधों की वजह से यह पूछताछ हुई। लूप टेलिकॉम प्राइवेट लिमिटेड को स्पेक्ट्रम आबंटन के दौरान 21 लाइसेंस दिये गये। इससे पहले सीबीआई रिलायंस गु्रप के अध्यक्ष अनिल अंबानी से भी पूछताछ कर चुकी है।

उधर, चेन्नई में सी बी आई ने 2 जी स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले के सिलसिले में आज प्राइवेट चैनल कलईन्यर के कार्यालयों पर छापे मारे। यह छापे मामले के अभियुक्त शाहिद उस्मान बलवा द्वारा प्रमोट की गई कंपनी स्वांन टेलीकॉम और इस चैनल के बीच संबंध के आरोप को देखते हुए मारे गये। कुछ वित्तीय लेन देन की जांच करने के लिए यह छापे मारे गये, जिनका संबंध स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले से हो सकता है।

इससे पहले सी बी आई ने आज राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के आयोजन से संबंधित कुछ अधिकारियों के परिसरों पर छापे मारे। सी बी आई सूत्रों के अनुसार आर पी गुप्ता, यू के रिद्धी, ए के सक्सेना, सुरजीत लाल और मुकेश जैन के ठिकानों पर छापे मारे गये। इन अधिकारियों के खिलाफ एफ आई आर भी दर्ज की गई है।

ओड़ीशा सरकार ने मलकानगिरि के जिला मजिस्ट्रेट आर. विनाइल कृष्णा और एक अन्य व्यक्ति को रिहा किये जाने के बारे में माओवादियों द्वारा प्रस्तावित दो व्यक्तियों के नामों को स्वीकार कर लिया है। माओवादियों द्वारा अपहृत कलेक्टर और अन्य व्यक्ति को छोड़े जाने के बदले रखी गई मांगों पर बातचीत के लिए ओड़िशा सरकार ने प्रोफेसर हरगोपाल और प्रोफेसर आर. सुरेश्वर राव को आमंत्रित किया है।
इस बीच, माओवादियों द्वारा रखी गई 48 घण्टे की समय सीमा आज शाम साढ़े पांच बजे समाप्त हो गई है। हमारे संवाददाता के अनुसार मुख्यमंत्री ने माओवादियों से अपील की है कि उन्हें उनकी मांगों पर विचार के लिए और समय दिया जाये।
इस बीच, क्रान्तिकारी लेखक और माओवादियों से सहानुभूति रखने वाले आंध्र प्रदेश के वरवरा राव ने फिर अपील की है कि मलकानगिरि के कलेक्टर और उनके साथ अपहृत इंजीनियर को छोड़ दिया जाए। श्री राव ने कहा कि कलेक्टर कृष्णा गरीबों और जनजातीय लोगों के कल्याण के लिए काम करते हैं और उन्हें मानवीय आधार पर छोड़ दिया जाना चाहिए।

केन्द्र ने आज कहा कि वह ओड़िषा सरकार के साथ लगातार सम्पर्क बनाये हुए है और बुधवार को नक्सलवादियों द्वारा अपरहण किये गये मलकानगिरि के कलेक्टर आर वी कृष्णा और एक जूनियर इंजीनियर को छुड़ाने के लिए हर तरह की सहायता देने को तैयार है।

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि सार्थक विकास के लिए शान्ति और सद्भाव आवश्यक है। डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि असम ने हाल में काफी कठिन समय देखा है। उन्होंने कहा कि इसका श्रेय राज्य के लोगों को जाता है कि वे विभाजित करने वाली ताकतों का सफलतापूर्वक मुकाबला कर सके हैं। प्रतिबन्धित संगठन अल्फा के प्रतिनिधियों के साथ मुलाकात पर खुशी जाहिर करते हुए उन्होंने फिर कहा कि जटिल समस्याओं को सुलझाने के लिए बातचीत ही सिर्फ तरीका है।

प्रधानमंत्री कल कामरूप देहात जिले में रामपुर गांव जायेंगे और वहां अल्पसंख्यक मंत्रालय द्वारा शुरू किये गये बहु-क्षेत्रीय विकास कार्यक्रम का कार्यान्वयन मौके पर ही देखेंगे।

कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय ने पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार को सात जनवरी को नेताई गांव में हुई घटना की जांच सी बी आई को सौंपने का निर्देश दिया है। इस घटना में नौ लोग मारे गए थे। मुख्य न्यायाधीश जे. एन. पटेल और न्यायमूर्ति अशिम कुमार रॉय की पीठ ने जांच संबंधी सभी कागजात के साथ-साथ हिरासत में लिए गए दो अपराधियों को भी सी बी आई को सौंपने को कहा है।

10वें विश्वकप क्रिकेट प्रतियोगिता के उद्घाटन मैच में कल गु्रप-बी में ढांका के शेर-ए-बंगला नेशनल स्टेडियम में भारत का मुकाबला बंगलादेश से होगा। हमारी संवाददाता ने बताया है अपने दोनों अभ्यास मैच जीतकर टीम इंडिया के हौसले मजबूत है।

खिताब के प्रबल दावेदार भारत की निगाहें शुरूआती मुकाबले में बांग्लादेश से बदला लेने पर टिकी होंगी। क्योंकि इसी टीम ने वेस्टइंडीज में 2007 विश्व कप में भारत को शुरूआती मैच में ही हराकर उसे पहले दौर से ही बाहर करने की नींव रखी थी। धोनी ने बल्लेबाजी विभाग में सुरेश रैना पर विराट कोहली को तरजीह देने के संकेत दिये है।

पेरिस में आज से शुरू हो रहे जी-20 देशों के वित्त मंत्रियों के सम्मेलन में भारत कर चोरों की पनाहगाह माने जाने वाले देशों में पारदर्शिता अपनाए जाने पर जोर देगा, ताकि इन देशों में रखे गए कालेधन का पता लगाया जा सके। वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने सम्मेलन से पूर्व कहा कि कर चोरी से पैदा हुए कालेधन का एक हिस्सा इन देशों के बैंकों में जमा किया जाता है।

The CBI has moved the Supreme Court challenging an Allahabad High Court order that dropped charges of criminal conspiracy against top BJP leaders including L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi in the Babri Masjid demolition case. In its appeal, the agency said that the High Court had not come to the right conclusion and the charges of criminal conspiracy should be restored against them. The High Court had on May 20 last year dismissed the CBI plea seeking revival of criminal conspiracy charges against top BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders which also included Ashok Singhal, Giriraj Kishore, Vinay Katiyar, Vishnu Hari Dalmiya, Sadhvi Rithambara and Mahant Avaidya Nath. The other leaders were former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, besides Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray.

A Sri Lankan court has ordered the release of all the 136 Indian fishermen, who were remanded in judicial custody, after they had been found straying in the waters near Jaffna. The fishermen from Tamil Nadu are likely to travel back this evening in their own trawlers. They were apprehended earlier this week for allegedly fishing in Sri Lankan waters. Our Colombo Correspondent reports that hectic diplomatic efforts were made to secure their early release.   

The two courts have released the fishermen “from all liabilities in the case”. They had set for sail to India this evening. The release of the fishermen followed condemnation by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh; the telephone call made by the Indian External Affairs Minister S.M.Krishna to his Lankan counterpart G.L.Peiris, and the ruling DMK-led political agitation in Tamil Nadu. Earlier this week, Indian fishermen were remanded to judicial custody for straying in Sri Lankan waters. A total of 25 trawlers had also been seized. Meanwhile, efforts are on to convene the India-Sri Lanka Joint Working Group at an early date to address issues relating to the fishing , including the crossing of territorial waters.

Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, arrested for his alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum scam along with former Telecom Minister A Raja, was today sent to Tihar Jail after a Delhi court remanded him in judicial custody.Special CBI Judge O P Saini remanded Balwa in judicial custody till March 3rd, a day after Raja was sent to Tihar Jail. The Dynamix Balwas group managing director was produced in court following expiry of his four-day CBI custody.

The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI has questioned the Chief Executive Officer of Essar Group, Prashant Ruia as part of inquiries into the alleged allocation of 2G spectrum in 2008. According to the CBI officials, Ruia was questioned yesterday about his company's link with Loop Telecom Pvt. Ltd which received 21 licences during the spectrum allocation. This follows questioning of Anil Ambani, chairman of Reliance Group. Earlier, the CBI conducted searches at the premises of some officials connected with organising the  Commonwealth Games. CBI sources said that searches were conducted at the premises of R.P. Gupta, U.K. Ridhi, A.K. Saxena, Surjit Lal and Nukesh Jain.

The Government today announced that a decision on the issue of formation of JPC on 2G, will be taken before Wednesday.  Parliamentary Affairs Minister P K Bansal told reporters that discussions with Opposition, are moving forward and the government hopes, the Budget Session will run smoothly.

In response to questions, he said, JPC is set up to look into only a particular issue.  Giving details of the Business during the session, he said, 31 Bills will come up for discussion and passage including the Women Reservation Bill.

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that peace and harmony are a pre-requisite for meaningful development. He said that Assam has witnessed turbulent times in the recent past. He said, it is to the credit of the people of this State that they have been able to successfully combat fissiparous forces. Dr. Singh expressed happiness over meeting the representatives of the banned United Liberation Front of Assam, ULFA. He mentioned that a number of initiatives have been taken by both the Central and the State Government towards this end.

The Prime Minister was giving away the prestigious Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Award for National Integration to eminent journalist MJ Akbar and Gandhian Hem Bharali for the years- 2008 and 2009 at an impressive function at Guwahati this evening. The Prime Minister also unveiled the foundation stone of the Guwahati Water Supply Project.

The Government has accepted two names proposed by the Maoists for negotiation on the release of abducted Malkangiri District Magistrate R Veenyl Krishna and another person. Professor Har Gopal and Professor R Sureshwar Rao, on behalf of the red-ultras, have been invited to Bhubaneswar by the Odisha Government for negotiation over the demands put by the Maoists for release of the duo. Our Correspondent reports that the Odisha Government is making all arrangements for arrival of the negotiator.

The 48-hour deadline given by the Maoists to free abducted Malkangiri district magistrate and collector came to an end this evening   The Andra-Odisha Border South Zonal Committee asked the government to immediately free three of their leaders, Sudarshan, Padma and Gantiprasad.Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik,and mediator from the Maoists Prof Har Gopal today appealed through the All India Radio not to do any harm to Krishna and Majhi. The Chief Minister also appealed the Maoists to give more time to the administration to consider all their demands. The Odisha Government has stopped all combing operation across the state since yesterday.

Meanwhile, Revolutionary writer and Maoists’ sympathizer from Andhra Pradesh Varavara Rao has once again appealed to them to release the abducted Malkangiri Collector and the other person. Stating that R. V. Krishna is known for striving for poor and tribals, he urged the Maoists to release them on humanitarian ground immediately.

The Calcutta High Court today directed the West Bengal Government to hand over to CBI, the investigation in to the January 7 incident at Netai village, in which nine persons died. A division bench, comprising Chief Justices J. N Patel and Ashim Kumar Roy, directed the CID to hand over all documents relating to the investigation as well as the two accused, who are in its custody, to the central agency.

The government has mooted a media watchdog to take care of the malicious contents. Talking to newsmen on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi today, the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mrs. Ambika Soni said that a Brodcasting Complaints Council, BCC, headed by a retired Supreme Court Judge or Ex-Chief Justice of a High Court, would be formed for self-regulation of the media.  She added that the Council will have 12 other members including four representatives of the broadcasters.

India will press for transparency in the functioning of tax havens at the G20 Finance Ministers meeting in Paris  today to unearth ill-gotten money lying in such sovereign jurisdictions. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said ahead of the meeting that  a part of the black money generated through tax evasion is being deposited in foreign banks, particularly in tax havens.

In Bahrain, a large number of mourners attended the funeral of people who were killed during anti government demonstrations in the country. Reports suggest that mood of the mourners appears to have turned toward defiance of the entire ruling system after the attack of security forces yesterday on a protest encampment in Bahrain's capital, Manama.

Amid tensions in the country, the pro government followers took out a rally in Manama in support of the government. Gulf Cooperation Council has supported Bahrain for handling of its current turmoil and rejected the external interference, which is widely believed as an indications towards Iran, Meanwhile protest organisers in Bahrain have announced more demonstrations in the country to press for their demands. Expressing deep concerns, World leaders have called for restraints while UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has asked to bring those to justice who are responsible.

The wave of political unrest continued in Yemen and Libya against their long time rulers in the wake of uprisings that toppled leaders in Egypt and Tunisia. In Egypt, the Higher Military Council is under pressure from activists demanding the release of political prisoners, the lifting of emergency rule and fair elections. Meanwhile, three former ministers of Mubarak government have been arrested.

The Prime Minister today referred the High Level Shunglu Committee Report on Host Broadcasting issues related to the Commonwealth Games and the report on the matter submitted to him by the Cabinet Secretary  to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Dr.Manmohan Singh has also decided to  revert  the Director General, Doordarshan Aruna Sharma  to her parent cadre and direct the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to seek explanations from her and the Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati B.S. Lalli  on the allegations made against them and recommend an appropriate course of action within two weeks

Snapping a five-session rally, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed 295 points, or 1.6 percent lower, at 18,212, on profit-booking, today. The Nifty fell 88 points, or 1.6 percent, to 5,459. The rupee appreciated 14 paise, to 45.21 against the dollar.  Gold rose 20 rupees, to 20,720 rupees per ten grams in Delhi. Silver jumped 950 rupees, to a new record high of 47,450 rupees per kilo.

India will meet co-hosts Bangladesh in Dhaka tomorrow in the inaugural match of the ICC Cricket World Cup - 2011.

The keenly awaited Cricket's mega event, the 2011 World Cup tournament gets under way in Dhaka tomorrow.  In the inaugural day-Night match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, the 1983 Cup winners, India, will be facing co-hosts Bangladesh. India are the favourites to win the fixture, having won 20 out of the 22 ODIs against Bangladesh.   Bangladesh are also having high expectations, as they knocked India out of the 2007 Caribbean World Cup with a stunning five-wicket win in the first round. Overall, in a World Cup without an overwhelming favourite, India, Australia, Sri Lanka and South Africa, will all eye the Cup that matters.   These four sides are the top contenders in the 14-team tournament.
