यमन में करीब बीस हजार प्रदर्शनकारियों ने मिस्र की क्रांति का जश्न मनाते हुए अपने देश के राष्ट्रपति अली अब्दुल्ला सलेह के खिलाफ विद्रोह का आह्‌वान किया है। राजधानी साना में छात्रों, पत्रकारों और मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ताओं सहित पांच हजार से अधिक प्रदर्शनकारी विश्वविद्यालय के बाहर जमा हुए और मिस्र के झण्डे हाथ में लिए हुए राष्ट्रपति सलेह के खिलाफ नारे लगाते हुए सड़कों पर मार्च किया। प्रदर्शनकारियों ने साना के मुख्य चौराहे अल-तहरीर पहुंचकर राष्ट्रपति को हटाने का नारा लगाया। दक्षिणी शहर अदेन में भी हजारों प्रदर्शनकारियों ने सड़कों पर मार्च करते हुए मिस्र की क्रांति का जश्न मनाया।

पुलिस ने प्रदर्शनकारियों को तितर-बितर करने के लिए हवा में गोलियां चलाईं। इसमें किसी के हताहत होने की खबर नहीं है लेकिन सुरक्षाबलों ने अनेक प्रदर्शनकारियों को गिरफ्‌तार कर लिया। राष्ट्रपति अली अब्दुल्ला सलेह तीस वर्षों से अधिक समय से अपने पद पर हैं।

उधर अल्जीरिया में भी लोकतंत्र समर्थकं करीब दो हजार प्रदर्शनकारियों ने सत्ता परिवर्तन के लिए पुलिस अवरोधों को तोड़ कर मार्च निकाला। प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के अनुसार नेशनल कोआर्डिनेशन फॉर चेंज एंड डेमोक्रेसी के इस मार्च से पहले सुरक्षा बलों तथा प्रदर्शनकारियों के बीच झड़पें हुई और कई लोगों को गिरफ्‌तार किया गया। सुरक्षा बलों ने पूरे इलाके को घेर लिया और प्रदर्शनकारियों को रोकने के लिए अवरोध लगा दिए।

भारत ने मिस्र के राष्ट्रपति हुस्नी मुबारक के सत्ता से हटने के फैसले और सेना की सुप्रीम काउंसिल द्वारा एक समय सीमा के अंदर सत्ता का शांतिपूर्ण हस्तांतरण सुनिश्चित करने की प्रतिबद्धता का स्वागत किया है। विदेश मंत्री एस. एम. कृष्णा ने आज एक बयान में मिस्र की जनता की मांग के मद्देनजर राष्ट्रपति मुबारक द्वारा पद से इस्तीफा देने के फैसले का स्वागत किया।

विश्व नेताओं ने भी मिस्र में सत्ता परिवर्तन का स्वागत किया है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान जी मून ने मिस्र के लोगों की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा कि उन्होंने शांतिपूर्ण तरीके से राष्ट्रपति मुबारक को सत्ता से हटाया है।


अमरीकी राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा ने कहा कि मिस्र की सेना को विश्वसनीय तरीके से सत्ता हस्तांतरण करना चाहिए। यूरोपीय संघ ने आशा व्यक्त की है कि मिस्र में व्यापक लोकतंत्र के हित में सत्ता हस्तांतरण की प्रक्रिया तेज होगी।

उधर, स्विटजरलैंड सरकार ने मिस्र के अपदस्थ राष्ट्रपति और उनके निकट सहयोगियों के खाते फ्रीज करने के आदेश दिए हैं। इन खातों पर तीन साल की रोक लगा दी गई है।

इससे पहले उप राष्ट्रपति उमर सुलेमान ने कल रात टेलीविजन पर बताया कि देश की कठिन परिस्थितियों के मद्देनजर राष्ट्रपति हुस्नी मुबारक ने पद छोड़ दिया है और देश की सत्ता सेना की सुप्रीम काउंसिल को सौंप दी गई हैं। रक्षा मंत्री फील्ड मार्शल हुसैन तंताबी सुप्रीम काउंसिल के प्रमुख हैं। सरकारी मीडिया के अनुसार मुबारक अपने परिवार सहित पर्यटन स्थल शर्म-अल-शेख में अपने घर चले गए हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि मिस्र के घटनाक्रम को देखने के बाद अरब जगत के कई देश सतर्क हो गये हैं।

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा है कि देश भर में विश्वस्तरीय उड्डयन बुनियादी क्षेत्र बनाने के प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं। डॉ० मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा कि उड्डयन क्षेत्र में एक सौ बीस अरब डॉलर निवेश की क्षमता है और इससे प्रत्यक्ष तथा अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से रोजगार के लाखों अवसर पैदा किए जा सकते हैं। प्रधानमंत्री केरल में तिरुअनंतपुरम हवाई अड्डे पर नए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय टर्मिनल इमारत का उद्घाटन करने के बाद समारोह को संबोधित कर रहे थे। उन्होंने देश की अर्थव्यवस्था में उड्डयन क्षेत्र के महत्व पर जोर देते हुए कहा कि इस क्षेत्र को बढ़ावा देने के लिए सरकार ने कई नीतियां तैयार की है।

प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि हवाई अड्डों पर बड़ी संख्या में यात्रियों को सेवा उपलब्ध कराने के लिए बड़े पैमाने पर निवेश की जरूरत है। उन्होंने कहा कि विश्वस्तरीय बुनियादी ढांचे बनाने के लिए मौजूदा हवाई अड्डों के आधुनिकीकरण की नीतियों पर तेजी से अमल किया जा रहा है क्योंकि देश में हवाई यातायात का अभूतपूर्व विकास हो रहा है।

देश की सर्वोच्च अंतरिक्ष नीति निर्धारक संस्था ''इसरो'' की वाणिज्यिक शाखा अंट्रिक्स कॉरपोरेशन के पुनर्गठन की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी गई है। यह कदम एक निजी कंपनी को दो उपग्रहों के करार से पैदा हुए विवाद के बाद उठाया गया है। अंतरिक्ष आयोग ने एक बैठक में अंट्रिक्स कॉरपोरेशन के अध्यक्ष सह प्रबंध निदेशक पद के लिए उपयुक्त व्यक्ति की तलाश के लिए एक समिति गठित की है। वर्तमान में अंतरिक्ष विभाग के सचिव के. राधाकृष्णन अंतरिक्ष आयोग, इसरो और अंट्रिक्स कॉरपोरेशन के अध्यक्ष हैं। बैठक में अंतरिक्ष आयोग को अंट्रिक्स कारपोरेशन द्वारा दो उपग्रहों का देवास मल्टीमीडिया से किए गए करार को रदद करने सम्बन्धी कार्रवाई के बारे भी अवगत कराया गया। मीडिया की रिपोर्ट में इस करार से दो लाख करोड़ रूपये के राजस्व हानि का दावा किया गया था।

करोड़ों रुपए के टू. जी स्पैक्ट्रम घोटाले की जांच कर रही सी बी आई, पूर्व केन्द्रीय मंत्री ए राजा और डी बी रियालिटी के प्रबंध निदेशक तथा स्वान टेलीकॉम लिमिटेड के पं्रमोटर शाहिद बलवा से लगातार पूछताछ कर रही है। हमारे संवाददाता ने सी बी आई सूत्रों के हवाले से खबर दी है कि जांच एजेंसी को इस मामले में विशेष सुराग मिले हैं। सी बी आई ने कल भी इन दोनों से घोटाले से जुड़े दस्तावेजों के साथ पूछताछ की थी। ये दोनों सोमवार तक सी बी आई की हिरासत में हैं।

भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने मांग की है कि पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में भ्रष्टाचार के मामलों को जल्दी से निपटाने के लिए विशेष अदालतें गठित की जानी चाहिए। पार्टी अध्यक्ष नितिन गडकरी ने नई दिल्ली में पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में कथित भ्रष्टाचार मामले की पार्टी की एक टीम द्वारा तैयार रिपोर्ट को जारी करते हुए कहा कि पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र में अट्ठावन हजार करोड़ रुपए के घोटाले सामने आए हैं जिसकी समय-सीमा के अंदर जांच होनी चाहिए।

जाने-माने सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता स्वामी अग्निवेश ने छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार से नक्सलवाद समस्या का समाधान ढूंढने के लिए आगे आने के लिए कहा है। रायपुर में एक संवाददाता सम्मेलन में स्वामी अग्निवेश ने कहा कि चूंकि छत्तीसगढ़ नक्सलवाद का मुख्य गढ़ है इसलिए वे राज्य सरकार से यह प्रस्ताव कर रहे हैं कि माओवादियों के खिलाफ दोनों पक्षों को स्वीकार एक निर्धारित तिथि पर वह युद्धविराम की घोषणा करे।

अभी-अभी खबर मिली है कि मिस्र में सेना की सुप्रीम काउंसिल ने कहा है कि नई सरकार के गठन होने तक मौजूदा सरकार और गवर्नर देश का शासन चलाएंगे। सरकारी टेलीविजन पर आज जारी की गई चौथी विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि मिस्र क्षेत्रीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संधियों के प्रति वचनबद्ध है।

पाकिस्तान में रावलपिंडी में आतंकवाद निरोधी अदालत ने बेनजीर भुट्टो की हत्या के मामले में पूर्व राष्ट्रपति परवेज मुशर्रफ की गिरफ्तारी का वारंट जारी कर दिया है। अदालत ने अभियोजन पक्ष के वकीलों की दलीले सुनने के बाद आज यह गैर-जमानती वारंट जारी किया। संघीय जांच एजेंसी ने बेनजीर भुट्टो की हत्या के मामले में विस्तृत आरोप-पत्र दायर किया है, जिसमें अभियुक्त के रूप में जनरल मुशर्रफ का नाम भी है। मामले की अगली सुनवाई १९ फरवरी को होगी।

पाकिस्तान ने भारत के साथ वार्ता प्रक्रिया फिर शुरू करने के फैसले को एक सकारात्मक संकेत बताया है। उसने यह भी कहा है कि दोनों देशों के बीच मुश्किल और जटिल मुद्दों से निपटने में धैर्य से काम लेना होगा। पाकिस्तान के विदेश सचिव सलमान बशीर ने इस्लामाबाद में संवाददाता सम्मेलन में कहा कि वे स्थितियां बदलने की कोशिश करेंगे। पिछले सप्ताह भूटान की राजधानी थिम्पू में सार्क देशों के विदेश सचिवों की बैठक के दौरान श्री सलमान बशीर ने विदेश सचिव निरूपमा राव से मुलाकात की थी। दोनों देशों ने सभी आपसी बकाया मुद्दे सुलझाने के लिए रचनात्मक बातचीत शुरू करने पर सहमति जताई थी।

अमरीका ने पाकिस्तान में हत्या के आरोपी अमरीकी अधिकारी रेमंड डेविस की रिहाई पर फिर जोर दिया है। अमरीका ने कहा कि इस मामले में अधिकारियों ने उन सबूतों और प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के बयानों पर ध्यान नहीं दिया है, जिनसे पता चलता है कि रेमंड ने आंत्म रक्षा में गोली चलाई थी।

पाकिस्तान के नेताओं ने अमरीका की रेमंड की रिहाई की मांग यह कहते हुए ठुकरा दी कि मामला अदालत में है और कानून के अनुसार कार्रवाई की जाएगी।

अफगानिस्तान में ंतालिबान आतंकवादियों ने कंधार के पुलिस मुख्यालय पर बमों, स्वाचित राइफलों और हथगोलों से हमला किया जिसमें २१ लोग मारे गये और कई घायल हो गये। मारे गये लोगों में १५ अफगान पुलिस के अधिकारी हैं और तीन जवान हैं। इन हमलों में खुफिया सेवा का एक एजेंट और दो अन्य लोग भी मारे गये।

इराक में एक आत्मघाती विस्फोट में २८ लोग मारे गये हैं। यह हमला एक बस पर किया गया जिसमें शिया समुदाय के लोग सवार थे। पुलिस के अनुसार यह विस्फोट सुन्नी बहुल समरा शहर के बाहरी इलाके में हुआ।

After the uprising in Tunisia and Egypt, pro-democracy demonstrations have begun in Yemen and Algeria. Nearly 20,000 protesters across Yemen today went to the streets to celebrate the Egyptian revolution and called for uprising against their President Ali Abdullah Saleh. In capital Sanaa, more than 5,000 protesters, including students, journalists and human rights activists, gathered outside the University and marched along the main streets, waving Egyptian flags and calling for the Egyptian-style uprising against President Saleh. Forcing their way to Sanaa's main square Al-Tahrir, protesters shouted, they will oust President Saleh. In the southern port city of Aden, thousands of protesters also marched along the streets t o celebrate the Egyptian revolution. Protesters clashed with soldiers who fired in the air to disperse the march. Witnesses said that one person was killed and security forces arrested many. Saleh, who has been in power for more than 30 years, announced earlier this month that he will not stay in office or pass power to his son when his term expires in 2013.

In Algeria, thousands of people defied an official ban on demonstrations in the capital Algeria and gathered in the city centre for a pro-reform protest today. The move comes a day after weeks of mass protests in Egypt succeeded in toppling the President. Organisers of the march estimated some 10,000 people had flooded downtown Algiers, where they skirmished with riot police, attempting to block streets and disperse the crowd. Some arrests were also reported. Protesters chanted slogans including "No to the police state" and "Bouteflika out," a reference to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who has been in power since 1999. Under the country's long-standing state of emergency, protests are banned in Algiers, but the government's repeated warnings for people to stay out of the streets apparently fell on deaf ears. The march was Organised by the Coordination for Democratic Change in Algeria, an umbrella group of human rights activists, unionists, lawyers and others, and was aimed at pressing for reforms to push Algeria toward democracy.

In Egypt, people are still celebrating the ouster of Hosni Mubarak while the crowd at Cairo's Tahrir Square is thinning. The Egyptian military has begun removing the barricades around the square which was the epicenter of the popular revolt for 18 days that drove Hosni Mubarak out from power. Egypt's state television says, the country's night-time curfew has been relaxed and it now starts at midnight and ends at 6 a.m. instead of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The announcement set off a frenzy of celebration, with protesters shouting Egypt is free. Nobel Peace laureate Mohammed El-Baradei said that this is the greatest day of his life. He added that the country has been liberated after decades of repression adding that he expects a beautiful transition of power.

The life in Cairo and several other cities in Egypt is slowly returning to normal after 18 day long demonstrations which culminated in to end of three decade old regime of Hosni Mubarak. As tanks lurched to the sides of the main roads, civilian volunteers helped the soldiers to remove the barbed wire and clearing out the burnt out vehicles around the square. People in several Middle Eastern and Gulf countries greeted the victory of Egyptians with joy, but there was a stunned silence in the corridors of powers in most of the countries. As Analysts predict that Egypt is going to have a big, big impact around the region, the Leaders across the region have made a variety of concessions and tightened security to avoid any ripple effect.

World leaders have hailed the stepping down of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak as a historic victory of people. India has welcomed the commitment of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to ensure a peaceful transition of power in a time-bound manner and open a democratic framework of governance. External Affairs Minister S M Krishna expressed happiness at the outcome.

US President Barack Obama said the people of Egypt had spoken and would settle for nothing less than genuine democracy.

UN Chief Ban Ki Moon praised Mubarak for bowing to the will of the people and taking a difficult decision, in the larger interests of the Egyptian people.

British Prime Minister David Cameron described the event as an opportunity for Egyptians to move towards civilian and democratic rule.

The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today said that efforts are in full swing to create world-class aviation infrastructure across the country on a mission mode. He said, the aviation sector had a potential to absorb 120 billion US dollars worth of investment and can create lakhs of employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly. He said, the growth of low-cost air travel has given a strong competition to the railways by making new frequent flyers. Dr Singh was speaking after inaugurating the new international terminal building at the Thiruananthapuram airport in Kerala. Emphasizing the importance of aviation sector in the country's economy, he said, the government has formulated various policies to give a boost to this vital sector.

On the last leg of his three day visit to Kerala Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh unveiled his government's strategies to tap the huge potential of aviation sector to the benefit of Indian economy. He said that government policy aims at increasing airport facility to garner maximum share of traffic in the region. Prime Minister pointed out that air travel is no more restricted to affluent sections of the society and growth of low cost airlines is giving tough competition to Indian Railways. Highlighting the exponential growth in air traffic, both domestic and international, Dr Singh said this will further increase in coming years. Constructed with an investment of 289 crores, the new terminal at Thiruvananthapuram airport has a built up area of 32,000 sq.ft with world class and hassle-free passenger amenities.

The CBI probing the multi-crore 2G Spectrum scam today, continued with  grilling former telecom Minister A Raja and Shahid Balwa, DB Realty managing director and promoter of Swan Telecom Limited. AIR correspondent quoting CBI sources reports the agency has got some specific leads in the case. The CBI yesterday confronted both Raja and Balwa with documents relating to the scam. Both of them who are in CBI custody till Monday were questioned together on licences allotted to the companies by showing favours. The CBI has focused to establish the money trail in the 2G Spectrum scam. The Enforcement Directorate which is also investigating the scam, has established the flow of over 206 crore rupees from DB Realty to Kalaignar TV. DB Realty, however, has claimed that Balwa, the Managing Director of the company, ha been falsely implicated in the scam.

The Space Commission, the country's apex space policy body, today set in motion a process to restructure Antrix Corporation, ISRO's commercial arm. This comes in the backdrop of a controversial two-satellite deal it had struck with a private firm. The Commission, at a meeting in New Delhi formed a search committee to identify a Chairman-cum-Managing Director for Antrix. Currently, K Radhakrishnan who is the secretary, Department of Space is also the Chairman of Space Commission, ISRO and Antrix Corporation. After the new appointment, Radhkrishnan would no longer hold the top post in Antrix. AIR correspondent reports, Antrix would continue to have a technocrat as its head but for the first time, since its creation in 1992, the person would not be the ISRO chief. Radhakrishnan said the decision to have a CMD for Antrix was taken considering its business expansion and a newly conferred mini-ratna status.

The BJP today demanded setting up of special courts to deal with the issue of corruption in the North-Eastern region to ensure speedy disposal of cases. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Party President Nitin Gadkari alleged that scams to the tune of 58,000 crore rupees, had occurred in the North-East. He demanded a time-bound probe into them.

In Chhattisgrah, Maoists freed all the five jawans kidnapped by them more than a fortnight ago. The jawans of the Chhattisgarh Armed Forces were handed over by the Maoists to their kins yesterday somewhere in the dense forest of the Narayanpur district. These jawans were abducted by the naxalites on the 25th of last month.

A Pakistani anti-terrorism court today issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against former President Pervez Musharraf to secure his presence in the hearing of the Benazir Bhutto assassination case.    The court in Rawalpindi issued the warrant after hearing the arguments of prosecution lawyers. The Federal Investigation Agency also submitted a detailed charge-sheet that named Musharraf as an accused in the case.

In Iraq, 31 people have been killed and 20 others injured in the bomb attack in Samarra city today. Voice of Iraq news agency quoting security sources has reported that incident occurred when when a suicide bomber with an explosive belt blew himself up inside the restaurant where pilgrims were having lunch at a restaurant north of Samarra.

Explosions and gun battle left 15 Afghan policemen dead and injured 45 others including 23 civilians in Kandahar today. Kandahar provincial governor Tooryali Wesa told newsmen that in the tragic incidents caused by terrorists, 15 policemen were killed and 45 others including 22 policemen and 23 civilians sustained injuries. He also said that three suicide bombers were killed in the blasts while the fourth one was injured and detained by police. Qari Yusuf Ahamdi who claims to speak for Taliban outfit, claimed responsibility.

Jharkhand Governor M O H Farooq declared opened the 34th National Games at Birsa Munda stadium in Ranchi this evening. High Court Chief Justice Bhagwati Prasad, Chief Minister Arjun Munda, Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahay and IOA President Suresh Kalmadi, besides other dignitaries were present on the occasion. The Games will see about eleven thousand participants, including around 8,500 athletes vying for top honours in 33 events. Dhanbad and Jamshedpur are the other two centres which will host the multi-discipline competition.  The National Games torch was lit by Jharkhannd star archer Deepika Kumari. AIR Correspondent reports that the opening ceremony was started with traditional tribal 'Akhara Puja'.
