सीबीआई ने आज उच्चतम न्यायालय को बताया कि वह टू जी स्पैक्ट्रम आवंटन के मामले में पूर्व दूरसंचार मंत्री ए राजा और दो कंपनियों के खिलाफ 31 मार्च तक आरोप पत्र दाखिल करेगी। न्यायमूर्ति जी एस सिंघवी और ए के गांगुली की पीठ के सामने बंद लिफाफे में पेश की गई स्थिति रिपोर्ट में सीबीआई ने इस घोटाले की जांच के दौरान मिले कुछ नये तथ्यों की जानकारी दी है। सीबीआई की ओर से वरिष्ठ वकील के के वेणुगोपाल ने कहा कि मुख्य आरोपपत्र 31 मार्च तक दाखिल कर दिया जाएगा। कई अन्य लोगों और कंपनियों के खिलाफ आरोपपत्र बाद में दाखिल किये जाएंगे।
केन्द्र सरकार ने पीठ को सूचित किया कि दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश ने पत्र भेजकर सूचित किया है कि वे टू जी स्पैक्ट्रम मुकदमे की सुनवाई के लिए अलग अदालत के गठन पर सहमत हैं।
महाधिवक्ता गुलाम ई वाहनवटी ने सूचित किया कि केन्द्र सरकार 29 मार्च को या उससे पहले उपयुक्त अधिसूचना जारी कर देगी, ताकि न्यायालय सीबीआई के आरोपपत्र का संज्ञान ले सके।

पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री ए राजा के नजदीकी और ग्रीन हाउस प्रमोटर्स के निदेशक सादिक बाशा की मौत रहस्य के दायरे में आ गई है। चेन्नई में पत्रकारों से बातचीत में शहर पुलिस आयुक्त टी राजेन्द्रन ने कहा कि उन्हें अस्पताल लाया गया जहां डॉक्टरों ने उन्हें मृत घोषित कर दिया। पुलिस आयुक्त ने कहा कि जल्द ही मामले की जांच शुरू कराई जाएगी। उन्होंने बताया कि बाशा के मकान की अभी तक तलाशी नहीं ली गई है। टू-जी स्पेक्ट्रम घोटाले में श्री बाशा से पूछताछ की गई थी और पिछले साल दिसंबर महीने में सीबीआई ने उसके चेन्नई और पेराम्बलूर के ठिकानों पर छापे मारे थे।
ए आई डी एम के नेता जयललिता ने चेन्नई में जारी बयान में कहा कि बाशा मामले में सीबीआई जांच कराई जानी चाहिए।

भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री ए राजा के निकट सहयोगी सादिक बाशा के कथित आत्महत्या मामले की जांच कराने की मांग की है। पार्टी प्रवक्ता रविशंकर प्रसाद ने कहा है कि इस मामले की जांच होनी चाहिए।
यह तथ्य कि आत्महत्या हुई है पूरे घोटाले में एक सबसे ज्यादा परेशान करने वाला सवाल है और जांच एजेंसी को चाहिए कि वो पूरे देश को इस बारे में संतुष्ट करे। इस आत्महत्या मामले की उचित तरीके से जांच होनी चाहिए और देश को यह अवश्य जानकारी होनी चाहिए कि किन परिस्थितियों में ऐसा हुआ।

सरकार ने यह स्पष्ट किया है कि परमाणु हथियार पहले न इस्तेमाल करने की भारत की नीति नहीं बदली जायेगी। विदेश मंत्री एस.एम. कृष्णा ने आज लोकसभा को बताया कि विभिन्न चुनौतियों को देखते हुए भारत की न्यूनतम प्रतिरोधक क्षमता बनायी रखी जायेगी।
हमारी परमाणु निरस्तीकरण के बारे में वैश्विक स्तर पर भेद भाव खत्म करने की वचनबद्धता सम्बन्धी नीति में कोई परिवर्तन नहीं हुआ है। जहां तक पाकिस्तान के परमाणु विकल्प का सवाल है बगैर उसकी संख्या बताये हुए सरकार देश की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए प्रभावशाली कदम उठाने के प्रति पूरे तौर पर तैयार है।
पूर्व विदेश मंत्री जसवंत सिंह ने कहा था कि बदलते हुए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय परिदृश्य और पाकिस्तान के पास परमाणु हथियारों के बढ़ते हुए भंडार के मद्देनजर परमाणु हथियार, पहले न इस्तेमाल करने की भारत की नीति में संशोधन किया जाना चाहिए। श्री कृष्णा ने विदेश मंत्रालय की अनुदान मांगों की बहस का जवाब देते हुए उनकी इस दलील को लेकर विदेश नीति के कई पहलुओं पर बात की।
अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मंच पर, भारत के अलग-थलग पड़ने की खबरों को खारिज करते हुए श्री कृष्णा ने कहा कि संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद में, भारत को स्थायी सदस्यता देने पर विश्व समुदाय का समर्थन लगातार बढ़ता जा रहा है।

गुजरात मुद्दे पर बार-बार शोर शराबे के कारण राज्यसभा की कार्रवाई दिनभर के लिए स्थगित कर दी गई। जैसे ही दोपहर भोजनावकाश के बाद सदन की कार्रवाई फिर से शुरू हुई विपक्षी सदस्य नारे लगाते हुए सदन के बीचोंबीच आ गए और सरकार से मुद्दे पर जवाब मांगा। वे आयकर विभाग द्वारा गुजरात सरकार से राज्य और निवेशकों के बीच सहमति पत्रों पर किए गए हस्ताक्षर और घरेलू तथा विदेशी निवेशकों का व्यौरा मांगने पर नाराज थे। सदन की कार्रवाई दिनभर के लिए स्थगित करने से पहले भोजनावकाश से पहले तीन बार और उसके बाद दो बार स्थगित करनी पड़ी।

सीबीआई द्वारा पेश प्रगति रिपोर्ट की समीक्षा के बाद बंबई उच्च न्यायालय ने आदर्श हाउसींग घोटाले की सीबीआई जांच पर संतोष जताया है। हमारी संवाददाता ने बताया है कि न्यायमूर्ति रंजना देसाई और न्यायमूर्ति राजेश केतकर की खंडपीठ ने कहा कि सीबीआई को फाइलें खोने जैसे गंभीर मामले सहित पूरे मामले की जांच के लिए कुछ और समय दिए जाने की जरूरत है।
सीबीआई ने दावा किया है कि इस रिपोर्ट में बेनामी खरीदारी को लेकर कुछ खास बातें बाहर आई हैं। कार्रवाही के मुताबिक इस मामले के मुख्य दोषी के एल गिडवानी हैं। जिन्होंने बेनामी तरीके से तीन फ्‌लैट बुक कराये थे। इसके सारे सौदे गिडवानी ने सोसाइटी के खाते से किये थे। आदर्श सोसाइटी ने इस याचिका में सीबीआई से तरखास किया है कि उनके बैंक खाते डिफ्रीज+ कर दिये जायें। जबकि सिमप्रीत सिंह की याचिका ने उच्च न्यायालय को कार्रवाही पर निगरानी रखने की मांग की थी।

जापान में फुकुशिमा परमाणु संयंत्र की स्थिति को नियंत्रण में करने वाले कर्मचारी, अपने काम पर लौट आये हैं। आज सवेरे लगभग पौने ग्यारह बजे रेडियेशन ज्यादा बढ़ने की खबरों के कारण इन्हें वहां से निकालने का निर्देश दिया गया था। तड़के इस बिजली घर के नम्बर-एक रियेक्टर में फिर आग भड़क उठी थी।
इस बीच, आज फिर एक जोरदार भूकम्प से टोक्यो में इमारतें हिलनें लगी। इस भूकम्प को रिक्टर पैमाने पर छह मापा गया। शुक्रवार के भूकम्प और त्सुनामी के कारण लापता लोगों का आंकड़ा ग्यारह हजार को पार कर गया है। तीन हजार 675 लोगों के मारे जाने की पुष्टि हो चुकी है।
अंतर्राष्ट्रीय परमाणु एजेंसी - आई ए ई ए - ने कहा कि वह फुकुशिमा परमाणु बिजली घर की स्थिति पर चिंतित है। इस परमाणु संयंत्र के तीन रिएक्टरों को ठंडा रखने के लिए समुद्र का पानी डाला जा रहा है। अमरीका के परमाणु आयोग ने इस संयंत्र की समस्या सुलझाने में सहायता के लिए जापान सरकार के अनुरोध पर अपने और नौ विशेषज्ञों का दल भेजा है।

तोक्यो में भारत के उच्च राजनयिक ने कहा है कि जापान में रह रहे सभी भारतीय सुरक्षित हैं और तोक्यो स्थित भारतीय दूतावास उन सभी भारतीयों को सहयोग कर रहा है जो भूकंप प्रभावित इलाकों से वापस लौटना चाहते हैं। एक निजी चैनल से बातचीत में भारतीय राजदूत आलोक प्रसाद ने कहा कि सेन्दाई में फसे कुछ भारतीयों को तोक्यों के एक होटल में पहुंचा दिया गया है।

प्रधानमंत्री को आज देश के परमाणु प्रतिष्ठानों की सुरक्षा के बारे में ब्यौरा दिया गया। परमाणु ऊर्जा आयोग के अध्यक्ष कुमार बैनर्जी और परमाणु ऊर्जा नियमन बोर्ड के अध्यक्ष एस. एस. बजाज, डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह से मिले और त्सुनामी के कारण, जापान के परमाणु बिजलीघरों में हुई घटनाओं को देखते हुए भारत के परमाणु प्रतिष्ठानों में सुरक्षा के लिए किये गये विभिन्न उपायों की जानकारी दी। दो दिन पहले डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने संसद में बताया था कि देश के सभी परमाणु प्रतिष्ठानों की तकनीकी समीक्षा की जायेगी ताकि ये पता लग सके वे भूकम्प और त्सुनामी के कारण, आने वाली चुनौतियों का सामना करने में सक्षम है।

बहरीन के सुरक्षाबलों ने, राजधानी मनामा के पर्ल स्क्वायर में मौजूद प्रदर्शनकारियों को खदेड़ने की कार्रवाई आज शुरू कर दी। कल, सरकार ने तीन महीने के आपातकाल की घोषणा की थी, ताकि राजनीतिक आंदोलन को दबाया जा सके। विपक्ष ने आरोप लगाया है कि सुरक्षाबलों की कार्रवाई में तीन आंदोलनकारी मारे गये हैं। बहरीन के सरकारी टेलीविजन ने बताया है कि प्रदर्शनकारियों को खदेड़े जाने के बाद सुरक्षाबलों के एक वाहन पर सरकार विरोधी तत्वों के हमले में दो पुलिस वाले मारे गये। संयुक्त राष्ट्र और यूरोपीय संघ ने संयम बरतने की अपील की है। ब्रिटेन ने मनामा में अपना दूतावास बंद कर दिया है। उसने अपने नागरिकों को बहरीन की यात्रा न करने का परामर्श भी दिया है।

एक महीने से ज्यादा समय से चल रहे सरकार विरोधी प्रदर्शनों को खत्म करने के लिए बहरीन के सुरक्षा बलों ने एक बड़ी कार्रवाई करते हुए पर्ल चौक को खाली करा दिया। देश में तीन महीनों के लिए आपालकाल लागू कर दिया गया है और सभी शिक्षक संस्थायें आगामी आदेशों तक बंद कर दी गई हैं। देश में सोमवार को ही सउदी अरब के नेतृत्व में जीसीसी के सुरक्षाबल आ गये थे। बहरीन में भारतीय राजदूत ने आकाशवाणी को बताया है कि देश में रहने वाले सभी भारतीय सुरक्षित हैं। इस बीच बहरीन और ईरान के बीच राजनयिक तनाव उस समय बढ़ गया जब ईरान द्वारा जीसीसी सेना के विरोध और ईरानी संसद द्वारा विद्रोह का समर्थन करने के विरोध में बहरीन ने तेहरान स्थित अपने राजदूत को वापस बुला लिया। विश्लेषक इस संकट को क्षेत्र में खाड़ी के अरब देशों और ईरान के बीच बढ़ते तनाव के रूप में देख रहे हैं।

गद्दाफी की सेना द्वारा विद्रोहियों के कब्जे वाले शहर मिसराता में पांच लोगों की हत्या के साथ सेना ने बेनगाजी में लोगों से हथियार डाल देने के लिए कहा है और वह बेनगाजी की ओर बढ़ रही है। यहां निर्णायक लड़ाई हो सकती है। कर्नल गद्दाफी के पुत्र सैफ अल इस्लाम ने चेतावनी देते हुए कहा कि 48 घंटे में सब कुछ निपटा दिया जाएगा। उधर, अजदाबिया कस्बा पूरी तरह से सरकार के नियंत्रण में आ गया है, लेकिन मीडिया रिपोर्टों में कहा गया है कि विद्रोहियों ने अजदाबिया पर गद्दाफी के कब्जे का खंडन किया है।

रक्षा क्षेत्र में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश बढ़ाने के बारे में सरकार विचार कर रही है। राज्यसभा में लिखित उत्तर में यह जानकारी देते हुए रक्षामंत्री ए के एंटनी ने कहा कि मौजूदा नीति के तहत रक्षा उद्योग में भारत के निजी क्षेत्र की भागीदारी एक सौ प्रतिशत तक हो सकती है, जबकि विदेशी निवेश 26 प्रतिशत तक ही हो सकता है।

The CBI today told the Supreme court that it will file a charge sheet against former telecom minister A Raja and two companies by the 31st of this month for their involvement in the 2G spectrum allocation case. In its latest status report filed in a sealed envelope before a bench of justices G S Singhvi and A K Ganguly, the CBI submitted that many new facts have come out during the probe into the scam. Senior advocate K K Venugopal, appearing for the investigating agency, said, the main charge sheet will be filed against A Raja and two companies by March 31. Meanwhile, Saddiq Batcha, Managing Director of  real estate firm,Green House Promoters and a close associate of Raja today allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Chennai. He was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead. The residence and office of the Green House Promoters were raided by the CBI in connection with the 2G spectrum scam. Raja's relatives have stakes in Green House promoters. BJP has demanded an enquiry into the alleged suicidal death of Sadiq Batcha. Senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that a through enquiry into the matter is required.
The AIDMK leader Ms. Jay Lalita in a statement released in Chennai today stated that investigations should be conducted in Batcha’s case and the issue has to be ascertained by the CBI. She also said that if there is any reluctance on the part of the CBI, then both the Supreme Court and the Joint Parliamentary Committee should step in and issue necessary directives.

Government today made it clear that there will be no revision of the country's no-first-use nuclear doctrine. The External Affairs Minister S M Krishna told the Lok Sabha that minimum credible deterrence will be maintained in view of threats and challenges. The response came after the former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh yesterday advocated the need for revising the no-first-use policy, framed by his own NDA government.
Replying to the debate on the demands for grants of his ministry in the house he spoke on various aspects of foreign policy and rejected the notion that India was getting isolated or was a by-stander in world affairs, including the evolving situation in West Asia. The Demands were later passed by a voice vote Turning to relations with Pakistan, Mr. Krishna said India has never abandoned its concern and the need to eliminate cross-border terrorism and to put an end to activities of terrorists and terror groups which have negative and destructive agendas for our nation and which is not in the best interests of our relations.

India's top atomic scientists today briefed the Prime Minister  on safety of nuclear installations in the country. Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission Srikumar Banerjee and Atomic Energy Regulatory Board Chairman S S Bajaj met Dr.  Manmohan Singh and briefed him about the review they undertook pertaining to various aspects of the nuclear installations in the country in the backdrop of nuclear mishap in Japan due to tsunami. AIR correspondent reports that the meeting comes two days after Dr. Singh had announced in Parliament that an immediate technical review of atomic plants has been ordered to check if they can withstand the impact of major natural disasters like tsunami and earthquakes. The Department of Atomic Energy and its agencies, including the Nuclear Power Corporation of India have been instructed to undertake an immediate technical review of all safety systems of the nuclear power plants.

Workers battling to contain the crisis at Japan's quake-hit Fukushima nuclear plant, evacuated earlier following a rise in radiation levels, have returned to the plant. In the morning, there was a direction to evacuate workers due to a sharp rise in radiation readings.  A fresh fire broke out at a reactor the Fukushima No 1 nuclear power plant early today. The evacuation order at the Fukushima nuclear power plant came as a tall white cloud was seen billowing high into the sky over the stricken complex. The jittery nation, living in dread of a nuclear catastrophe after Friday's twin disaster, was also hit by a strong 6.0-magnitude earthquake that swayed buildings in Tokyo.  Police said, the official toll of the dead and missing after the quake and tsunami has topped 11,000. The IAEA said, it remains concerned over the status of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, where sea water injections to cool the reactors in units 1, 2 and 3 are continuing. Attempts to return power to the entire Daiichi site are also continuing.  The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission said, it has sent nine additional experts to Tokyo to provide assistance as requested by the Japanese government. Meanwhile, the first trance of relief offered by India to tsunami-hit Japan is set to reach Tokyo today.

India's top diplomat to Tokyo today said that all Indian nationals in Japan are safe and the country's mission in Tokyo is facilitating return of those wishing to leave the quake-ravaged region. Speaking to a private channel, Indian Ambassador Aloke Prasad said that a group of Indians, who had been stranded in Sendai  were moved to a hotel in Tokyo. He said many of them want to go back to their homes and are leaving for India.

In West Asian countries political unrest  continues  unabated. In Bahrain, security forces launched a crackdown on protestors at Pearl Square in Manama today. The move has been taken a day after the imposition of three-month state of emergency yesterday to quell political unrest. Opposition has accused the government of killing three protesters in a violent raid to drive out protestors from the camp at Pearl Square. Bahrain state TV has reported that two policemen died when they were hit by a vehicle after anti-government protesters were driven out.
Bahraini forces launched massive crack down on protestors in capital Manama after more than a month of anti government demonstrations. A three-month long emergency has been imposed and all educational institutions have been closed. Saudi led GCC forces have also reached kingdom to help Bahraini rulers to control the uprising. The Indian Ambassador to Bahrain told AIR that all Indians are safe in the country. Meanwhile, the diplomatic tension between Iran and Bahrain has escalated after Bahrain has recalled its ambassador in Tehran following Iran’s statement opposing the Gulf force and Iranian Parliament’s support for the uprising in Bahrain. The crisis is increasingly viewed by analysts as an extension of the region's rivalries between the Gulf Arab states and Iran.

Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau officials raided the office of National Games Organising Committee at Morhabadi in Ranchi today. However, officers did not reveal the details of the documents seized. It was alleged that the equipment used in the 34th National Games, were purchased at higher rates causing huge losses to the state exchequer.

The Bombay High Court today expressed satisfaction with the CBI probe into the Adarsh scam. AIR correspondent reports that the bench was hearing a bunch of petitions filed in connection with the scam.

Investigations have revealed that prime accused K L Gidwani has three flats in the Society under 'Benami' names. All transactions made by the accused are from the Society's accounts. The bench of Justices Ranjana Desai and Rajesh Ketkar was hearing to petitions filed by Adarsh society seeking CBI to de-freeze their bank accounts and social activist Simpreet Singh's plea wanting the High Court to supervise the investigation.

The Government today asked the Jat leaders to suspend their agitation on the issue of reservation in Central Government jobs. Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and Social Justice Minister Mukul Wasnik held talks with the agitating Jat leaders from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Maharashtra this morning. In Haryana, the Jat protesters today decided to continue their stir following talks with the Jat leaders of different states. The protesters blocked Loharu-Delhi and Loharu-Jaipur rail track this evening after the meeting of 84 Khap Panchayat.

The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee today reached an understanding on the seat sharing with its allies of United Democratic Front, UDF. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, AICC General Secretary Madhusudan Mistri said that Congress will be contesting for 81 assembly seats which is 7 more than previous assembly elections in 2006. In Assam, around 150 nominations were filed today for the first phase of Assembly elections scheduled to be held on 4th of the next month. Tomorrow is the last date of filing nominations for the first phase of elections. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi submitted nomination papers at his home constituency-Titabor in Jorhat district.

The Sensex today closed at 18358, up by 191 points. The 30-share index touched a low of 18,263 and a high of 18,444 in trade today.  Similarly, National Stock Exchange's Nifty ended at 5511, up by 61 points.  The broader index touched a low of 5,475 and high of 5,535 in trade.

Australia are well on way to record their fifth consecutive win in the on-going ICC Cricket World Cup.  Chasing a modest 212 runs against Canada in a Group 'A' Day-Night match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Aussies were 195 for 2 in 32.3 overs, a short while ago. Earlier, the defending champions bowled out Canada for 211 in 45.4 overs.  Opener Hiral Patel top-scored with a swashbuckling knock of 54 off 45 balls. The Ausssies have confirmed their place in the quarter-finals with seven points from four games. Canada are out of reckoning for the last eight stage with only two points from five matches. In tomorrow's match,  England meet the West Indies at the M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
