मुंबई में आदर्श हाउसिंग सोसाइटी घोटाले की जांच के सिलसिले में सीबीआई की छापों की कार्रवाई जारी है। हमारे संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि उन अधिकारियों के आवास पर छापे मारे जा रहे हैं जिनके नाम कल दायर की गई एफआईआर में शामिल है।
सीबीआई ने आज शाम महाराष्ट्र के निलंबित सूचना आयुक्त रामानंद तिवारी के मुंबई स्थित घर पर छापा मारा। तिवारी शहरी विकास विभाग के सचिव थे जब आदर्श बिल्डिंग को सरकार से महत्वपूर्ण स्वीकीर्तिया मिली थी। तिवारी के बेटे के नाम इस बिल्डिंग में एक फ्‌लैट भी हैं, इससे पहले आज कांग्रेस की पूर्व विधान परिषद सदस्य कन्हैया लाल गिडवानी सोसायटी के प्रमोटर आर.सी. ठाकुर और पूर्व मेजर जनरल एम.एम वांचुग के घर पर सीबीआई ने तलाशी ली। सीबीआई सूत्रों ने बताया कि मुंबई के अलावा पुणे, नागपुर और पटना में भी तलाशी अभियान चल रहा है।

सीबीआई ने इस मामले में कल एफआईआर दर्ज की थी। बम्बई हाईकोर्ट ने पिछले सप्ताह सीबीआई को आदर्श हाउसिंग सोसाईटी मामले की जांच दो सप्ताह के अंदर पूरी करने का आदेश दिया था। हाईकोर्ट के इस आदेश के बाद सीबीआई ने एफआईआर दर्ज करने का कदम उठाया।
31 मंजिला आदर्श हाउसिंग सोसाइटी कारगिल युद्ध में शहीद हुए सैनिकों की विधवाओं के लिए बनाई गई थी लेकिन मीडिया में यह खबर आने के बाद कि कई राजनीतिक नेताओं, सरकारी अधिकारियों और रक्षा विभाग के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने इसमें लैट खरीदे हैं, ये सोसाइटी विवादों के घेरे में आ गई। इस बीच वन और पर्यावरण मंत्रालय सोसाइटी की इमारत को समुद्र तटीय क्षेत्र कानून-1991 का उल्लंघन बताते हुए इसे तीन महीने के अंद गिराने का आदेश दे चुका है।

मिस्र में सरकार के विरोध में हिंसक प्रदर्शनों के मद्देनजर, काहिरा में भारतीय दूतावास ने वहां से स्वदेश लौटने के इच्छुक भारतीयों की हवाई यात्रा के सभी जरूरी इंतजाम किए हैं। मिस्र में भारत के राजदूत आर. स्वामीनाथन ने हमारे दुबई संवाददाता को बताया कि 300 भारतीय एयर इंडिया के विशेष विमान से आज रात मिस्र से रवाना होंगे और कल भारत पहुंचेंगे। एयर इंडिया के क्षेत्रीय प्रबंधक ने बताया कि टाटा समूह के 123 कर्मचारी भी इसी विमान से स्वदेश लौट रहे हैं। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया है कि एक और उड़ान कल सवेरे 11 बजे काहिरा से मुंबई के लिए रवाना होगी।
जैसे जैसे मिस्र में सरकार विरोधी प्रदर्शन तेज हो रहे हैं। विभिन्न देशों ने अपने नागरिकों को मिस्र से बाहर भेजना शुरू कर दिया है। मिस्र में भारतीय राजदूत ने आकाशवाणी को बताया कि सभी भारतीय सुरक्षित है। आज छठे दिन फिर काहिरा के तहरीर स्कवायर पर हजारों प्रदर्शनकारी जमा हैं और नये उपराष्ट्रपति और प्रधानमंत्री की नियुक्ति तथा आर्थिक सुधारों के वायदों के बावजूद राष्ट्रपति मुबारक के सत्ता छोड़ने की बात कर रहे हैं। देश में कार्यालय, स्कूल, व्यापारिक प्रतिष्ठान, स्टॉक एक्सचेंज बंद हैं और सभी मुख्य इलाकों में सेना तैनात की गई हैं।

मिस्र में लगभग तीन हजार छह सौ भारतीय हैं। इनमें से दो हजार दो सौ काहिरा में बसे हैं।
विदेश मंत्रालय ने कल परामर्श जारी करके भारतीयों से कहा था कि अगर बहुत जरूरी न हो तो वे मिस्र न जाएं।
विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि भारत मिस्र के घटनाक्रम पर पूरी नजर रखे हुए है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत के मिस्र के साथ मैंत्रिपूर्ण संबंध रहे हैं और वह आशा करता है कि मौजूदा समस्या का जल्द ही शांतिपूर्ण हल निकल आएगा।

विदेश मंत्री एस. एम. कृष्णा ने अमरीका में ट्राईवैली विश्वविद्यालय में भारतीय छात्रों के टखनों पर जबर्दस्ती रेडियो कालर पहनाए जाने की खबर की कड़ी निंदा की है और इस अमानवीय कार्य के लिए जिम्मेदार लोगों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई की मांग की है।
भारत सरकार का मानना है कि ट्राईवैली विश्वविद्यालय की घटना को टाला जा सकता था और जिस तरह से अधिकारियों ने छात्रों के साथ दुर्व्यवहार किया वह स्वीकार्य नहीं है।
श्री कृष्णा ने आज बंगलौर में बताया कि उनका मंत्रालय इन छात्रों को हर संभव सहायता उपलब्ध कराएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि अभिभावकों को चिंता करने की जरूरत नहीं है क्योंकि यह मामला उच्च अधिकारियों के साथ उठाया गया है। श्री कृष्णा ने कहा कि यदि प्रभावित छात्र भारत लौटना चाहते हैं तो सरकार उन्हें उचित सहायता भी प्रदान करेगी।
वाशिंगटन में भारतीय दूतावास ने ट्राईवैली विश्वविद्यालय के मामले को विदेश विभाग और अन्य संबद्ध विभागों के साथ गंभीरता से उठाया है और अमरीकी सरकार से यह सुनिश्चित करने को कहा है कि इस मामले से प्रभावित किसी भी भारतीय छात्र को उत्पीड़न का शिकार न बनने दिया जाए। दूतावास तथा न्यूयार्क और सनफ्रांसिस्को के वाणिज्य दूतावासों ने यह मामला अमरीकी अधिकारियों के साथ उठाया है।
प्रभावी छात्र आमतौर से आंध्रप्रदेश के हैं और पिछले सप्ताह सनफ्रांसिस्को के एक बड़े उपनगर प्लीजेंटन में ट्राईवैली विश्वविद्यालय के एक बड़े आव्रजन घोटाले के आरोपों में बंद कर दिए जाने के बाद इन छात्रों को वापस स्वदेश भेजा जा सकता है। ये छात्र अब दूसरे कालेजों में प्रवेश के लिए कोशिश कर रहे हैं ।

विदेश सचिव निरुपमा राव श्रीलंका सरकार के साथ पिछले एक महीने में श्रीलंका की नौसेना द्वारा कथित रूप से मारे गए दो भारतीय मछुआरों के बारे में बातचीत करने के लिए आज रात कोलंबो पहुंच रही हैं। सुश्री राव कल सुबह के नाश्ते पर राष्ट्रपति महिन्दा राजपक्षे से मुलाकात करेंगी। बाद में वे श्रीलंका के विदेश मंत्री जी. एल. पियरेस तथा अन्य अधिकारियों से मिलेंगी। इस बैठक में मछुआरों के मुद्दे के अलावा हाल ही में चेन्नई के महाबोधि मंदिर पर हुए हमले के बारे में भी चर्चा हो सकती है।

डीएमके प्रमुख एम. करुणानिधि ने घोषणा की है कि पीएमके पार्टी, तमिलनाडु में डीएमके पार्टी के नेतृत्व वालें गठबंधन का हिस्सा होगी। श्री करुणानिधि ने ,आज दिल्ली पहुंचने पर संवाददाताओं से बातचीत मे यह बात कही। उन्होंने बताया कि वे कल कांगे्रस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी और प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह से मुलाकात कर राज्य में मई में होने वाले विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए कांगे्रस और डीएमके के बीच सीटों के बंटवारे के बारे में बातचीत करेंगे।

17वें करमापा उज्ञेन त्रिनले दोरजी द्वारा समर्थित एक न्यास के दतरों से साढ़े सात करोड़ रूपए से अधिक की विदेशी मुद्रा की बरामदगी के सिलसिले में हिमाचल प्रदेश में धर्मशाला के एक व्यापारी और एक बैंक मैनेजर को गिरतार किया गया है। पुलिस महानिरीक्षक पी.एल. ठाकुर के अनुसार इस व्यापारी के होटल और आवास पर छापों के बाद इन दोनों को गिरतार किया गया। पूछताछ के दौरान इस व्यापारी से मिली जानकारी के आधार पर ये गिरतारियां की गई हैं। इस तरह इस मामले में अब तक पांच लोग गिरतार किए जा चुके हैं।

हरियाणा में राज्य सरकार की ओर से गुड़गांव, रेवाड़ी और बावल में 62 सौ एकड़ उपजाऊ जमीन के अधिग्रहण के खिलाफ आज किसान संगठनों ने गुड़गांव के नजदीक राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग के निकट पंचगांव चौक पर 55 गांवों की महापंचायत का आयोजन किया। मानेसर औद्योगिक नगर के व्यवसायी भी इस मुद्दे पर किसानों का समर्थन कर रहे हैं। महापंचायत के नेताओं ने कहा कि उच्चतम न्यायालय ने कृषि भूमि के अधिग्रहण के खिलाफ पहले ही आदेश जारी कर रखा है। ऐसे में राज्य सरकार का यह कदम न्यायालय की व्यवस्था का उल्लंघन है।

ओडिशा में पुलिस ने आज मलकानगिरि जिले में दो कट्टर माओवादियों को गिरफ्‌तार किया है । पुलिस अधीक्षक अनिरुद्ध सिंह ने बताया कि राज्य के नक्सल विरोधी बल, स्पेशल आपरेशन गु्रप और जिला वालंटियर फोर्स के तलाशी अभियान के दौरान इन दोनों को टेचगुड़ा जंगल में पकड़ा गया।

मध्यप्रदेश में बालाघाट जिले से पुलिस ने तदा दलम की एक नक्सली महिला कमांडर सिनिया उर्फ पुष्पा को गिरतार किया है। पुलिस महानिरीक्षक सी वी मुनिराजू के मुताबिक पुलिस को 27 गंभीर मामलों में सिनिया की तलाश थी। मध्यप्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र और छत्तीसगढ़ की पुलिस तथा केन्द्रीय जांच ब्यूरो ने सिनिया पर डेढ लाख रूपए का इनाम घोषित कर रखा था।

राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की 63वीं पुण्य तिथि पर आज देशभर में उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की गई। देशभर में 11 बजे दो मिनट का मौन रखा गया। आकाशवणी के ग्यारह बजे के बुलेटिन के दौरान भी दो मिनट का मौन रखा गया। राजधानी दिल्ली सहित पूरे देश में गांधी जी की स्मृति में विभिन्न कार्यक्रमो का आयोजन किया गया।

राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा देवीसिंह पाटील, उपराष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद हामिद अंसारी और प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह, यूपीए अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी, लोकसभा में विपक्ष की नेता सुषमा स्वराज तथा अनेक वरिष्ठ नेताओं ने महात्मा गांधी की समाधि पर पुष्पांजलि अर्पित की।

नई दिल्ली में गांधी स्मृति में आज एक सर्वधर्म प्रार्थना सभा आयोजित की गई।
आज लगभग 500 स्कूली बच्चों ने महात्मा गांधी की पंसदीदा रघुपति राघव राजा राम के अलावा कई भक्ति संगीत प्रस्तुत कर बापू को संगीतमय श्रृजंली अर्पित की। प्रार्थना सभा के दौरान प्रसिद्ध वदाली भाई उस्ताद, पूरनचंद और प्यारे लाल ने भक्तिधुन और राम धुन प्रस्तुत किया। सैकड़ों की संख्या में लोगों ने दो मिनट का मौन रखा। आज ही के दिन 1948 में एक प्रार्थना सभा में नाथूराम गोडसे ने महात्मा गांधी की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी थी। बापू के विचार हमेशा लोगों सत्य और अहिंसा पर चलने की प्रेरणा देते हैं।
आज का दिन शहीदी दिवस और कुष्ठ रोग निवारण दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। देश के अन्य हिस्सों तथा विदेशों से भी गांधी जी की पुण्यतिथि पर श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित किए जाने की खबरें हैं।

 The Central Bureau of investigation probing the Adarsh society Scam in Mumbai is continuing with its raids at houses of some of the officials and bureaucrats named in the FIR. AIR Correspondent reports that raids have been carried out in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Patna and searches were also conducted at the Adarsh Housing Society building’s office in Mumbai.
In a major development, the CBI raided the house of suspended information commissioner Ramanand Tiwari in the evening. Mr Tiwari was secretary in the urban development ministry during the period when the Adarsh building got its approval from the government. His son also owns a flat in the society. Earlier, searches were also carried out at the premises of former Congress MLC Kaniah Lal Gidwani and promoter of the society R C Thakur. Raids were also carried out at Thakur and retired Major General M M Wancho's houses in cities outside Mumbai. Thakur, Gidwani and Wanchoo were allegedly the prime movers in building the society.

The agencies yesterday filed an FIR in the case. The developments came after the Bombay High Court last week asked the CBI to complete its probe into the Adarsh housing society scam in two weeks. The 31-storey Adarsh Housing Society, originally meant for Kargil war heroes, landed in controversy after media reports said that several politicians, bureaucrats and defence personnel owned flats there.

An Indian Naval vessel collided with a foreign merchant ship  off Mumbai coast this evening. Coast guard official said that INS Vindhyagiri caught fire after it collided with the foreign ship. According to initial reports, the naval vessel was carrying a few families of the naval force on the occasion of family day. All the people on board the naval vessel have been rescued and efforts are on to douse the fire. A coast guard official told AIR that there is no danger of oil spill due to the collision.

The Indian Embassy in Cairo has made elaborate arrangements to airlift Indian nationals in Egypt in the wake of violent agitation against the Hosni Mubarak regime. Talking to our Dubai Correspondent, Ambassador of India to Egypt Mr. R. Swaminathan said that the process of airlifting the Indian nationals has already begun.
As anti government demonstrations are intensifying in Egypt, several nations are evacuating their citizens from the country. Indian Ambassador to Egypt told AIR that all Indians are safe. Thousands of protesters again crowded Cairo's Tahrir square today demanding President Hosni Mubarak's ouster despite his reform promises and appointment of Vice president and new Prime minister. Offices, Schools, Business Establishments and Stock exchange remain closed in the country and army have been deployed across the main areas.
The Air India regional manager told AIR that another 123 TATA employees will also leave by the same flight. He said, another flight will leave Cairo tomorrow at 11 AM for Mumbai. The Indian Embassy has set up 24 hours hotline to assist Indians for help. The numbers are 0020227360556, 0020227356168 and 0020227360052. He informed that there are nearly 3600 Indians living in Egypt and out of them 2200 live in Cairo. The MEA had yesterday issued a travel advisory asking Indians to avoid non-essential travel to Egypt. Meanwhile, thousands of protesters are back on Tahrir Square in Cairo for another day of protests against the government. Reports say, widespread anti government demonstrations and violent clashes between the protesters and the riot police have left at least 100 people dead since Tuesday. About 2,000 people have been injured. Armed men attacked at least four jails across Egypt early morning today, helping to free thousands of inmates as police vanished from the streets of Cairo and other cities. Offices, Schools, Business Establishments and Stock exchange remain closed. Egypt’s state television says, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has visited the central headquarters and met top commanders for military operations.

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna today strongly condemned the reported forcible wearing of radio collars around the ankles of Indian students in the Tri-Valley University in the US and demanded severe action against those responsible for the inhuman act. Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Mr.Krishna said, his Ministry will extend all help to the students.  Mr. Krishna said, the government would also provide suitable assistance to the affected students if they wished to return to India.
 Strongly taking up the matter with the State Department and other concerned departments, the Indian embassy in Washington has asked the US government to ensure that none of the Indian students affected by the immigration scam of Tri Valley University is victimised. The embassy and its consulates in New York and San Francisco have taken up the matter with US authorities. The students, mostly from Andhra Pradesh, are facing the prospect of deportation as authorities last week shut down the Tri-Valley University in Pleasanton, a major suburb in San Francisco Bay Area, on charges of a massive immigration fraud.

DMK Chief M Karunanidhi today announced that PMK will be part of the DMK-led alliance in Tamilnadu. Mr. Karunanidhi, who arrived in New Delhi this evening, said he will meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh tomorrow to discuss the seat-sharing arrangement between the Congress and DMK in the State Assembly elections due in May. He was talking to reporters on his arrival in the Capital.

The President Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh led the nation in paying homage to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 63rd death anniversary today. The leaders paid rich floral tributes at Gandhiji's Samadhi Rajghat in the Capital. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, central ministers, leaders of various political parties and people from different walks of life also paid tribute to the apostle of peace at his memorial. An all religion prayer meeting was also held at Gandhi Smriti in New Delhi where Gandhiji fell to assassin’s bullets.
Around 500 school children paid musical tributes by singing various devotional songs including Gandhiji's favourite Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram at Gandhi Smriti today. During the Prarthana Sabha, the famous Wadali brothers Ustaad Puranchand and Ustad Pyarelal Wadali also paid homage to the father of the nation by presenting qwaalli bhakti sangeet and Ram Dhun. Hundreds of people gathered at the Smriti observed a two minute silence at exactly 17 minutes past five, the time Gandhiji took his last breath. The phenomena called Gandhiji still rules our hearts and minds. Albert Einstein rightly said Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this walked the earth in flesh and blood.

In Odisha, Police today arrested two hardcore Maoists and seized a gun and a mine from their possession in Malkangiri district. Superintendent of Police Anirudha Singh said, the duo was spotted at Techguda jungle during a joint combing operation by the state's elite anti-naxalite force, the Special Operation Group and District Volunteer Force.

In Chhattisgarh, naxalites killed one Special Police Officer in the Bijapur district this afternoon. The incident occurred near Matwada under the Jangla police station area. Meanwhile, naxalites freed one villager yesterday whom they had abducted on the 25th of this month along with 5 policemen of the Chhattisgarh Armed Forces. However, there is no clue yet about the whereabouts of the 5 remaining policemen. Police have been trying for the safe release of the abducted jawans.

Jalandhar Rural Police has shot dead two dreaded criminals during an encounter last evening. Besides other cases in neighbouring states including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan, the criminals were involved in 75 cases of contract killing, murder, dacoity, highway armed robbery, and vehicle snatching in Punjab.  Director General of Police said that on a tip-off the Jalandhar Rural Police laid traps and eliminated the two criminals.

In Haryana, farmers organized Maha Panchayat of 55 villages at Panchgaon Chowk of Gurgaon near national highway today to protest against the acquisition of 62 hundred acre of fertile agricultural land in Gurgaon, Rewari and Bawal by the state government. The industrialists from Manesar industrial town ship are also supporting the cause of the farmers. The leaders of Maha Panchayat said, Supreme Court had already issued direction against the acquisition of fertile agriculture land and the attempt to acquire these lands is against the Apex Court's ruling. Although the agitation remained peaceful today, the Maha panchayat said that if they were not heard, an aggressive agitation would be launched  and highways would be jammed. They said that they would meet the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and appraise her about their problem.

A Dharamsala-based businessman and a bank manager have been arrested in connection with seizure of foreign currency worth over 7.5 crore rupees from the offices of a trust backed by the 17th Karmapa Ogyene Trinley Dorjee. According to Inspector General of Police P L Thakur, the two were arrested following raids conducted on residence and hotel of the businessman and clues provided by him during questioning with regard to the money trail. With this, the number of people taken into custody has risen to five. According to the sources, the Karamapa has denied his involvement in money laundering. He said all the money received in monestry is managed by either the Cashier and the secretary and he has no role to play with the money received and never kept any money with him.

Novak Djokovic has won his second Australian Open title. In the Men's Singles final at a packed Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne today, Serbia's Davis Cup hero defeated Britain's Andy Murray in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-3.  Djokovic lifted his only previous major title in Melbourne three years ago in 2008. The Serbian star's victory has extended Britain's 75-year wait for a male Grand Slam singles champion. The last British man to win a Grand Slam singles title was Fred Perry at the 1936 U.S. Open - more than 270 majors ago. Djokovic completely dominated the Scot in the match which lasted two hours 39 minutes.
