सीबीआई ने आदर्श हाउसिंग सोसायटी घोटाले के सिलसिले में महाराष्ट्र सरकार के कई अधिकारियों और सेना के कुछ सेवानिवृत्त अधिकारियों के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज किया है। बॉम्बे उच्च न्यायालय ने पिछले सप्ताह इस मामले की जांच में ढिलाई के लिए सीबीआई की खिंचाई की थी। हमारे संवाददाता ने बताया कि अभी यह स्पष्ट नहीं है कि मुंबई में विशेष अदालत में दर्ज एफआईआर में पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अशोक चव्हाण का नाम है या नहीं।कोट के आदेश मानते हुए सीबीआई ने आखिरकार आदर्श सोसायटी घोटाले कांड में एफआईआर दर्ज कर लिया, जहां एफआईआर में अभी तक कोई बड़े न होने के खबर नहीं हैं वहां सूत्रों के अनुसार दो आर्मी अफसरों का नाम दर्ज किया गया है। सीबीआई की तरफ से यह केस दर्ज करने का निर्णय कानूनी सलाह के बाद लिया गया है। न्यायालय ने सीबीआई को केस दर्ज करने के आदेश एक जनहित याचिका को सुनते हुए दिया था। इससे पहले केंद्रीय पर्यावरण और वन मंत्रालय ने कहा था कि आदर्श बिल्डिंग को तीन महीने में गिरा दिया जाए, क्योंकि वो सीआरजेड कानून के उल्लंघन करके बनाई गई थी।
कानूनी विशेषज्ञों ने दस्तावेजों की जालसाजी और पद का दुरूपयोग करने के आरोप में कुछ लोगों के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज करने की सलाह दी थी।

केन्द्रीय संचार मंत्री कपिल सिब्बल ने कहा है कि अब से स्पेक्ट्रम के साथ कोई लाइसेंस जारी नहीं किया जाएगा। नई दिल्ली में आज संवाददाता सम्मेलन में उन्होंने कहा कि दूरसंचार सेवा देने वालों को अब अतिरिक्त स्पेक्ट्रम के लिए बाजार भाव पर दाम देने होंगे। श्री सिब्बल ने कहा कि नए ऑपरेटरों को चार दशमलव चार मेगाहर्ट्ज स्पेक्ट्रम दिया जाएगा। श्री सिब्बल ने घोषणा की कि यह फैसले सरकार की नई दूरसंचार नीति में शामिल होंगे। नई नीति तय की जा रही है। संचार मंत्री ने कहा कि छह दशमलव दो मेगाहर्ट्ज से ऊपर के स्पेक्ट्रम के आवंटन की नीलामी और मूल्य निर्धारण के लिए प्रक्रिया अपनाने पर गंभीरता से सोचा जाना चाहिए। नीलामी प्रक्रिया में पर्याप्त स्पर्धा रहनी चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि दूरसंचार नियामक प्राधिकरण ने मई २०१० में सिफारिशें की थी और संकेत दिया था कि वह भविष्य में २जी स्पेक्ट्रम के मूल्य निर्धारण के लिए अध्ययन के नतीजों की रिपोर्ट सरकार को देगी। यह रिपोर्ट जल्द ही मिलने वाली है। श्री सिब्बल ने कहा कि ब्राडवेड के माध्यम से आम आदमी तक डेटा भेज सकते हैं।हम कई सालों इंतजार करते है कि कैसे इन्फोरमेशन आम आदमी तक पहुंचे। वो मोबाइल फोन द्वारा ब्रोडवेड द्वारा अब हर व्यक्ति को देहात में पहुंच सकती है और ब्रोडवेड होने के बाद लगता है कि जो डेटा हम आम आदमी को भेज सकते हैं उससे ऑडनरी मैन केन इम्पावर।

खबर है कि तिब्बती आध्यात्मिक गुरू करमापा उज्ञेन त्रिनले दोरजी, दो दिन पहले धर्मशाला में अपने मठ में छह करोड़ से अधिक मूल्य की विदेशी मुद्रा मिलने के मामले में प्रवर्तन निदेशालय से सहयोग करने पर राजी हो गए हैं। करमापा एक तरह से मठ में नजरबंद हैं ा सूत्रों के अनुसार वे किसी के साथ संपर्क नहीं कर सकते। गृह मंत्रालय से अनुमति के बाद अब हो सकता है कि आज उनसे पूछताछ की जाए।इस बीच, करमापा मठ के उप-महासचिव करमा चुंगलियापा ने कहा है कि वकीलों से सलाह ली जा रही है और आज बाद में एक बयान जारी किया जाएगा। करमापा लामा के मठ से विदेशी मुद्रा मिलने के बाद उन्होंने इस मामले में चीन के साथ साठगांठ से इंकार किया है।
करमापा के निकट सहायक शक्ति लामा को छापों के बाद गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया था। पुलिस को शक है कि राज्य में हवाला रैकेट चल रहा है। लेकिन तिब्बती सांसद करमापा का जबरदस्त समर्थन कर रहे हैं। उनका कहना था कि विदेशी मुद्रा कानून की जानकारी न होने के कारण ऐसा हुआ है।

कांग्रेस महासचिव राहुल गांधी ने कहा है कि स्विस और दूसरे विदेशी बैंकों में जमा भारतीय धन को देश में वापस लाना चाहिए। महाराष्ट्र के औरंगाबाद में संवाददाता सम्मेलन में उन्होंने आज पत्रकारों से कहा कि हमें भरसक कोशिश करनी चाहिए कि भारतीयों का धन जो गरीब लोगों का है उसे वापस लाया जाए। उन्होंने इस बात से इंकार किया कि सरकार विदेशी बैंकों में जमा काला धन वापस लाने की पूरी कोशिश नहीं कर रही है।श्री राहुल गांधी ने कहा कि आम जनता अब मानने लगी है कि भ्रष्टाचार सभी राजनीतिक दलों में फैला है। उन्होंने कहा कि राजनीतिक दलों के दरवाजे आम आदमी के लिए बंद है लेकिन युवा कांग्रेस ने संगठन के भीतर लोकतंत्र को बढ़ावा देकर पूरा माहौल बदलने की पहल की है। श्री गांधी ने कहा कि किसी और दल ने ऐसा नहीं किया है।

उत्तरप्रदेश में हरदोई जिले के संडीला औद्योगिक क्षेत्र में कल रात दवा की एक फैक्ट्री में गैस लीक होने से एक महिला सहित तीन लोगों की मौत हो गयी और कई लोग बीमार पड़ गए है। हमारे इलाहाबाद संवाददाता ने खबर दी है कि हादसे में गंभीर रूप से घायलों को इलाज के लिए लखनऊ भेजा गया है। पुलिस ने बताया है कि फैक्ट्री से अब गैस रिसनी बंद हो गई है। रिसाव के कारणों की जांच की जा रही है।गैस का रिसाव होने से मरे ३ लोगों और घायल ७ लोगों के मामले में मजिस्ट्रेट जांच के आदेश जिलाधिकार ने दिए है। जिलाधिकार ने चार सदस्यीय एक कमेटी अपर जिला मजिस्ट्रेट की अध्यक्षता में सुरक्षा और प्रदूषण उपायो की रोकथाम के लिए गठित की है। यह कमेटी सात दिन में अपनी रिपोर्ट देगी। घटना में मरे प्रत्येक के परिवार वालों को २ लाख २० हजार रूपए तात्कालिक राहत के रूप में देने की घोषणा की गई है। रिसाव वाली दवाओं के लिए कच्चा माल केमिकल बनाने वाली फैक्ट्री को कमेटी की रिपोर्ट आने तक सील कर दिया गया है।

काहिरा, सिकन्दरिया और स्वेज+ शहर में हजारों प्रदर्शनकारी कल रात भी कर्फयू का उल्लंघन करते हुंए सड़कों पर उतर आये। झड़पों में कम से कम २६ लोग मारे गये और सौ से अधिक घायल हो गये। करीब पन्द्रह सौ प्रदर्शनकारियों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है।
इस बीच, संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून ने मिस्र सरकार से नागरिकों के अधिकारों विशेष रूप से अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता और सूचना के अधिकार की रक्षा करने को कहा है। अमरीका के राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा ने राष्ट्रपति मुबारक के सम्बोधन के तुरन्त बाद उनके बातचीत की और शान्तिपूर्ण प्रदर्शनकारियों पर हिंसा का इस्तेमाल न करने को कहा।

लंदन से मिस्र की राजधानी काहिरा जा रहे एक विमान में बम रखे होने की सूचना के बाद उसे ग्रीस के एथेन्स हवाई अड्डे पर उतारना पड़ा। एथंस अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे के प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि विमान में सवार सभी यात्री सुरक्षित हैं। मिस्र की एयर जेट कम्पनी के विमान ने लंदन के हीथ्रो हवाई अड्डे से उड़ान भरी थी और इसमें २५१ यात्री सवार थे। ब्रिटेन के विदेश विभाग ने कहा कि विमान में ५० ब्रिटिश यात्री थे। उन सभी को एंथस के होटल में रात गुजारनी पड़ी। ब्रिटेन ने काहिरा में जारी असंतोष के कारण अपने नागरिकों को काहिरा की यात्रा न करने की सलाह दी है।---------
अफगानिस्तान में दक्षिण कंधार प्रांत के डिप्टी गवर्नर आत्मघाती हमले में मारे गए हैं। अधिकारियों ने कहा है कि आत्मघाती हमलावर ने अब्दुल लतिफ आशना के काफिले पर हमला किया। उनके प्रवक्ता ने कहा है कि मोटर- साईकिल पर सवार आत्मघाती हमलावर ने डिप्टी गवर्नर की कार को टक्कर मार दी। हमले में उनके तीन सुरक्षा गार्ड घायल हुए हैं।---------
पाकिस्तान में आज दो अलग अलग विस्फोटों में आठ लोग मारे गये और कई लोग घायल हो गये। आतंकवादियों ने उत्तर पश्चिमी क्षेत्र में कोहाट सुरंग पर हमला किया, जिसमें आठ लोग मारे गये और १४ घायल हो गये। जापान द्वारा निर्मित इस सुरंग को पहले आतंकवादियों ने विस्फोटकों से भरे एक ट्रक से निशाना बनाया। यह ट्रक सुरंग में घुस गया और इसमें विस्फोट हुआ। इसके बाद विस्फोटकों से भरा एक तेल टैंकर सुरंग के बाहर सुरक्षा बलों की एक चौकी से टकरा गया। इन हमलों के बाद सुरंग को बंद कर दिया गया और पूरे इलाके को सुरक्षा बलों ने घेर लिया।---------

The CBI today registered a case against some retired Army officials and bureaucrats of Maharashtra government in connection with the Adarsh housing society scam. The case was registered after the Bombay High Court last week criticised the CBI for its tardy probe in the case. AIR Correspondent reports that it was not immediately clear whether the name of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan figures in the FIR registered at the special designated court in Mumbai.
Adhering to the court’s directive, the CBI has finally registered an official case in the Adarsh Society Housing scam. Though no names have been made public yet, sources said that two former senior Army officials of the rank of Major General and Brigadier have been named in the FIR. The decision to register a case was taken after seeking a legal opinion on the evidence which had favoured registering of a case against some people for allegedly forging the documents and abusing official position. The court's direction to CBI to file an FIR came in the wake of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which demanded the entire Adarsh housing society scam probe be handed over to the CBI. Earlier in Jauary this year the union environment and forest ministry had said that the Adarsh building should be demolished within three months as it it was built in violation of Coastal Regulation Zone.

The Telecom Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal today announced that no licence would be issued along with the spectrum from now onwards. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today he said that telecome operators will have to pay a market price for additional spectrum. Mr. Sibal said that for new operators, the contracted amount of the spectrum will be 4.4 mhz. Mr. Sibal announced that these decisions will be part of the new telecom policy being framed by the government. He said while moving towards a new policy dispensation, it is necessary to ensure a level playing field between all players.
The Minister said that there is a need to seriously consider the adoption of an auction process for allocation and pricing of spectrum beyond 6.2 MHZ while ensuring that there is adequate competion in the auction process. He said that TRAI had made recommendations in May 2010 and indicated that it would apprise the government of the findings of a study on the question of pricing of 2G specturm in future and this is expected shortly.

Food, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Minister Prof K V Thomas has said that efforts are on to bring down onion price to twenty two rupees per kilogram. In a meet the press programme at Thiruvananthapuram he said that due to market intervention, onion price has already come down to twenty five rupees. State governments will be asked to sell more day to day items through public distribution system. To work out effective price control mechanism and ensure availability of essential items, zonal meetings of ministers from the southern states in charge of public distribution system will be held on 3rd of next month. Similar meetings will be held in Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai during February.
Prof K V Thomas said that implementation of the Food Security Act at the earliest is one of the main priorities of the present UPA Government. He said that nation wide programme using latest technology is underway to ensure availability of food grains and perishable items at affordable price. Procurement of items directly from farmers and selling more food items through public distribution system are to be implemented soon. Modern storage facility will be set up for perishables in metros and towns within 50 km radius of metros. Prof K V Thomas also said that overall food subsidy of 83000 crore rupees is likely to cross one lakh crore.

Two days after foreign exchange worth over 6 crore rupees was seized from Tibetan spiritual leader, Karmapa Ugyen Trinley Dorjee monastery in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, the leader has reportedly agreed to cooperate with the Enforcement Directorate probe to be held later today. The leader has been put under virtual house arrest and according to sources, all communication lines have been disconnected. He is likely to be interrogated today after the Home Ministry gave permission in this regard. Meanwhile, Karma Chungliapa, Deputy General Secretary of Karmapa Monastery said, legal experts are being consulted and a statement will be issued later in the day. After foreign currency was recovered from Tibetan spiritual leader Karmapa Lama's monastery, the leader has denied any Chinese links. Karmapa's close aide Shakti Lama was also arrested following the raids and was interrogated by the police yesterday. Police suspects a hawala racket operating in the state. However, Tibetan parliamentarians are rallying strongly behind the Spiritual leader claiming that ignorance about the forex law has led to this situation.

In Uttar Pradesh, three persons were killed and many fell ill in a gas leakage incident at a chemical factory in Sandila industrial area of Hardoi district today.
The incident occured midnight in Sandila Industrail when Gas was leaked during a chemical process of a drug relating manufacturing Unit. 3 persons died in the incident. Many other become ill because of leakage. Mean while the District Magistrate of Hardoi has ordered a Magistrial inquiry into the incident District Magistrate have formed a 4 member committee to investigate the industrial accident. The administration has also announced financial assistance of two lakh and 20 thousand rupees for family of the victim. Though the leakage has been blocked but the incident has raised doubt about the safety standard in Industrial Units functioning in the state.

The All India Congress Committee General Secretary, Mr. Rahul Gandhi says, there is a need of bringing the Indian money stashed in Swiss and other foreign banks back to the country. Addressing a press conference at Aurangabad, Maharashtra today he said, we should put as much efforts as possible to ensure that Indian money and the money that belongs to poor people comes back. He denied that government is not making enough efforts to bring back the black money stashed in banks abroad. Mr. Rahul Gandhi said, common people now feel that corruption has become a common phenomenon among all the political parties.
Mr. Gandhi said, the Youth Congress has taken initiative to change the entire scenario by working out organizational democracy, which no party has done.

The Assam government has outlined measures for the welfare of tea garden labour community. In a statement, the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said, it is impossible to think of a developed Assam without improving the plight of the tea garden community. He said, the government has allocated 110 crore rupees in the last nine years and plans to sanction 20 crore this year for their welfare. Referring to sick gardens and tea factories, the Chief Minister said, the government has taken steps to revive 14 of them under the aegis of Assam Tea Corporation so that the livelihood of the labourers is ensured.

The Madhya Pradesh high court has served two notices to state government in connection with the relief to farmers following crop loss. Hearing a PIL regarding compensation to frost hit farmers of the state, the Jabalpur bench of high court served a notice on the state government. This PIL sought directive to the state government to furnish a blue print about how financial assistance would be distributed to farmers for crop loss due to frost. On the other hand the Indore bench of high court also served a notice on the state government regarding compensation to farmers on another PIL. Meanwhile, the state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has requested Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to sanction a special package of 1505 crore rupees for the frost affected farmers of the state. In his letter Mr. Chouhan said that an interim survey of the state government reported loss to crops worth over 3686 crore rupees in more than 33 lakh hectare area.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, has emphasized the need for restoration of the glory of Jammu and Kashmir as an abode of peace, amity, communal harmony and brotherhood. Addressing the 35th Peace Conference organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Peace Foundation in Jammu, Mr. Vohra called upon the people of the State to come forward in a big way to contribute towards achieving this goal. The Governor said, no development and progress is possible without sustained peace and communal harmony. He said, the sector which suffered the most during the last 20 years of termoil, is the education of the children, besides large human and economic losses. Mr. Vohra emphasized that time has come when every one needs to come forward and work for restoration of a lasting peace in the State, to ensure a bright future for the younger generation and speedy progress of all regions of Jammu and Kashmir. The Governor complimented the Peace Foundation for taking laudable initiative of promoting communal harmony, peace and amity and wished them high success in their continuing endeavours.

Veteran journalist Sebastian Rotella, in his latest investigative report brings in fresh evidence of relationship between Mir, who commanded the Mumbai operations from a control room in Pakistan, and the ISI. The report said, the Mumbai case provides the first detailed inside account of how the ISI played double game following the confession of Headley, Mir's American operative, a colourful character in a story of global intrigue. The investigation led to another disturbing revelation that despite isolated voices of concern, for years, the US intelligence community was slow to focus on Lashkar and detect the extent of its determination to strike Western targets.

Showing no signs of quitting, embattled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has sacked his government as thousands of protesters defied curfew demanding an end to his 30-year-old rule. In a late night televised speech, 82-year-old Mubarak defended the actions of police, who had tried to clamp down the protesters by firing tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannons at them. Mubarak, who has ruled Egypt for three decades, asked his cabinet to resign and promised reforms. Around 1,500 protesters have been arrested across the country since the protests broke out four days ago. AIR West Asia Correspondent reports that at least 26 people have been killed in the clashes and over hundred injured.
All eyes are now at the announcement of new cabinet today and people’s reaction to this. Observers are also waiting to see whether this step is going to satisfy people as President Hosni Mubarak is considered power centre in presidential system and protests are somehow targeted against his regime. Other countries in the region are anxiously watching the unfolding events, after Tunisia and Egypt, what next.
Meanwhile, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has urged the Government of Egypt to protect the rights of its citizens particularly freedoms of expression, information and assembly. US President Barack Obama spoke to Mubarak just after his address and called on Egyptian authorities to refrain from using violence against peaceful protesters.

A plane travelling from the UK to Egypt was diverted to Greece after a note containing the word bomb was apparently found on board. The Egypt Air pilot made a request to land and the plane touched down in Athens. An Athens International Airport spokeswoman said everyone is safe and the aircraft landed safely. The Egypt Air jet, which had departed from London's Heathrow Airport, was carrying 251 passengers when it landed at the Athens International Airport. The British Foreign Office said, 50 Britons were on board the Cairo flight and they were staying in hotels in Athens overnight. Britons have been warned to avoid Cairo during the current civil strife.

Eight people were killed and several injured in two seperate blasts in Pakistan today. Militants attacked a strategic tunnel in the North-western part of the country killing eight persons and injuring 14 . Officials say, the Japanese-built Kohat tunnel, which links Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa capital Peshawar to southern parts of the province, was first targeted with an explosives-laden truck that entered the structure and blew up. In the second attack, an oil tanker packed with explosives hit a check post manned by army and paramilitary personnel outside the tunnel. The tunnel was closed after the attacks and security forces cordoned off the area.In another blast near Quetta city of southwest Pakistan, at least five persons, including a child and two policemen, were injured when a suspected car bomb went off in a congested neighbourhood.

The Deputy Governor of Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province has been killed in a suicide attack. Officials said, a suicide bomber attacked Abdul Latif Ashna's convoy as he was being driven to work. His spokesman said a suicide bomber on a motorcycle slammed into his car killing the Deputy Governor. Three of his bodyguards have been injured in the attack.

Eminent playback singer Yesudas has been selected for Kerala Government's highest music award, "Swathi Puraskaram", in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Indian music. An official release in Thiruvananthapuram said that the singer was selected for the honour by a jury headed by 'mridangam' maestro Umayalpuram Sivaraman.The award, named after legendary musician and composer Swati Tirunal, comprises one lakh rupees, a citation and memento. K J Yesudas popularly known as Yesudas, has sung in hundreds of films in various Indian languages, besides making a mark as a classical singer. He is also famous for his devotional songs.
